- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Hello.
- 0:16Welcome back to the Three O Take presented by Chinook Cedry.
- 0:18This is episode 586. I'll be your host, Kyle Goran.
- 0:21I'm here with my Co host Nate Reyes.
- 0:25Nate. Casey JB Rookie, Rookie.
- 0:32Hey, how are we whole fam's here tonight?
- 0:38The whole crew. How we doing boys?
- 0:44Excited to talk some ball. Tell you what man, I think it's
- 0:47all happening. Thank you.
- 0:48All it took was a few signings, couple couple rumours to float
- 0:51around to get the get the juices flowing again.
- 0:54We are back and I tell you what, I'm I'm in a good mood this time
- 1:02of year, man, Really. You're a big Christmas guy.
- 1:05Big. Christmas Guy.
- 1:07When you thrive. And on that note, I, I put out a
- 1:13poll, put out a poll on social. I said, what's your MLB
- 1:19Christmas wish? So I'll let you, I'll let you
- 1:21gents ponder on that. But I'm going to I'll go through
- 1:25some of the responses here. I have not.
- 1:27I've not preselected any of these.
- 1:29I'm just going through reading off what I see.
- 1:31So we can we can we can analyze them as we go.
- 1:37Leonard says the Mariners just getting into a World Series and
- 1:41preferably holding the trophy at the end.
- 1:42I I like the caveat, you know, he's like, it'd be nice if they
- 1:46got in. Yeah.
- 1:49But it also be kind of cool. I mean, you know, it'd be OK, I
- 1:53guess, if they also were able to win it.
- 1:56It's like opening your stocking. Oh, they're in the World Series
- 2:01and then there's one more gift under the tree.
- 2:03Oh, they won. Gary says Barry Bonds to come
- 2:09back for an AB this year to reset his Hall of Fame clock.
- 2:13Is that how that would work? Does it just negate the time
- 2:19he's been on the ballot to this point, or is that even allowed?
- 2:22Really, I think it's unprecedented.
- 2:24I don't think we have an example to to fall back on, so hard to
- 2:28say. Michael says that Theo Epstein
- 2:32would come somehow come back to run the Cubs.
- 2:35I think he is likely the next commissioner.
- 2:38Love that. I would love that.
- 2:41We've talked about that before on here.
- 2:43When when? I think it was when Manfred
- 2:45announced that he was. When was that, by the way, what
- 2:48was his? I almost said expiration date.
- 2:50That's a little dark, but you know what I mean?
- 2:52Like when's his when, when's his end date?
- 2:56When's he when's he hitting the road?
- 2:59When does he expire? That's not that's not the one I.
- 3:05Don't know, you're asking the wrong guy.
- 3:07Why would I know? Trying to look it up now, I
- 3:09thought it was 2029. It is plans to step down in
- 3:15January 2029. Believe it when I see it
- 3:21perfect. He's got to get through this
- 3:22CBA. Would be 50.
- 3:26How old do you think Theo is? I feel like Theo is like 45
- 3:30right now. That's also not the case. 51.
- 3:34He's a young cat. 51 right now. 51 he's going to be 52 in like 2
- 3:40weeks. Man, that's his birthday.
- 3:43He's. A good looking guy.
- 3:45Handsome fella. Yeah, for the Cleveland
- 3:50Guardians to win a World Series, 77 years is too long.
- 3:55That was Gina. Sorry, Gina, Brian said.
- 3:58For the Phillies to go O and 162, I mean technically it's on
- 4:02the table. Until it's not.
- 4:05Until it's not. It's why they play the games.
- 4:08That's right. Josh in the corner for the Renee
- 4:12says for the Cubs to spend some actual money this offseason.
- 4:15Victoria says Blue Jays to sign Kyle Tucker.
- 4:19Jenna says for the Guardians to extend Stephen Kwan.
- 4:23That's a that's it. You know, that's like a
- 4:26reasonable. Wish.
- 4:27List. That's a reasonable wish list
- 4:29item. That's not like, hey, I want
- 4:32like. A car in your.
- 4:35Yeah, yeah. You're not asking for a car,
- 4:37you're asking for like a nice quality pair of jeans, you know,
- 4:41like. Stephen Kwan Excellent pair of
- 4:44jeans. Not going to break the bank, but
- 4:48you're also, you know, you're, you're looking for some quality
- 4:51there in your wish. And I think, I think that's all
- 4:53Jenna's after. Not a not a Tiffany engagement
- 4:56ring. And for her boyfriend to stop
- 4:57dragging his feet and commit. Exactly.
- 5:00Just once A partially used even Starbucks gift card.
- 5:06Not asking for a lot. JB just ripped an elf quote
- 5:10effortlessly. We were talking about that quote
- 5:12earlier. Alex says Bob Nutting gone.
- 5:21Go. Pirate.
- 5:21Dang it, Bobby. No.
- 5:24Stop. I didn't give you permission to
- 5:26use your soundboard. That's buddy.
- 5:29That's fair, buddy. Relax.
- 5:32Fired. I hear Bob buddy and my arm just
- 5:34goes to that button. You're gone.
- 5:36We need to boot him from the Can we boot him from the call for
- 5:40like 5 minutes? Put him in the put him in the
- 5:42penalty box, Yeah. The corner isn't enough.
- 5:44He's he's got to go to a different kind of time.
- 5:46Mute it. Let's see.
- 5:52Oh, Lou says. I wish pitchers and catchers
- 5:55would report. OK, Santa, I'll give it a few
- 5:57weeks. Heart face.
- 5:59I think these are some excellent names.
- 6:01By the way, I've heard Leonard Lou.
- 6:03Didn't know there were still Lou's out there.
- 6:05So Lou's out there. That's a good sign.
- 6:07A couple more here, Devon says. Team USA Gold in the WBC.
- 6:16Excellent wishlist item. It's a very selfless wish list
- 6:20item I think. What else we got here, Omar says
- 6:24for the Cardinals to go O and 162.
- 6:26I don't I don't get the what's this is supposed to be the
- 6:31season of of cheerfulness and joy.
- 6:33Why why are we wishing I'll upon our arrivals?
- 6:38You know we. Got a lot of Midwest folks in
- 6:40here. That sounds sounds like it seems
- 6:44like the case. Hal Steinbrenner selling the
- 6:46team to somebody who actually knows baseball and actually
- 6:48cares about winning. No comment, Nate.
- 6:56No. It's awkward.
- 7:00It's a family conversation. I'm listening to the cleaners
- 7:04outside and I know they're going to come in at any point.
- 7:06That's I was distracted. I heard Hal Steinbrenner was
- 7:09when I when I came back in. That's fair.
- 7:11Cleaners are coming, I can just feel it.
- 7:13The trashes are empty by the way.
- 7:15I don't. We'll, we'll end with this one.
- 7:18Shannon wants Mike Trout to win his first World Series.
- 7:25Some of these are. Are you can always hope.
- 7:28Some of them are just like mom goes to the store and she's like
- 7:32it, it's not here. That's the beauty of Christmas
- 7:34though. You can always no, no issue with
- 7:37having hope. You know, there's no issue with
- 7:41having hope. You can always believe like The
- 7:44Polar Express teaches us. Let's get into speaking.
- 7:51I'll take. Probably.
- 7:54No, I could. I could, I could.
- 7:57It's like AI could meet you there.
- 7:58From 20 years ago. And then it's just the whole
- 8:01movie is just a video game. Segway.
- 8:05Yeah, in between your mission. The cut scenes for sure, for
- 8:09sure. You want to go first.
- 8:14Oh, right, yeah, yeah, we got to get yours.
- 8:16No, you got it. What are you what are you guys
- 8:18thinking? Well, I'll, I'll yeah, I'll
- 8:21start because I forgot to mention in the poll, I just to
- 8:24get the folks going. I did say I said what's your MLB
- 8:28Christmas wish? I said I'll go first.
- 8:29I want Bryce Harp to win his first World Series.
- 8:31So that I mean, that's it's pretty simple.
- 8:33I don't, I don't think that's out of I mean, what are we,
- 8:36what, what, what kind of comp do we have there?
- 8:38That's got to be like, I'm not asking again, not asking for a
- 8:40car, but I'm asking for a nice power tool for the for maybe
- 8:51any, maybe home improvement projects.
- 8:53I don't know that. Is that's a really nice, that's
- 8:55a power tool, that's a, that's a whole new tool kit you're
- 8:58getting. That getting the whole the whole
- 9:01toolbox, yeah. OK.
- 9:03They want to downplay a World Series.
- 9:05Right. New impact, new drill, whole new
- 9:09screwdriver set, some wrenches, you got it all.
- 9:13Not just the hunk of metal, right?
- 9:15Right. I mean, again, we're but, but to
- 9:17be fair, we're not talking like Marlins here.
- 9:19I mean, we're, we are talking about the Phillies.
- 9:21No, the Marlins are like, I hope I get a new house, but that's.
- 9:25I don't, that's my point. I don't know.
- 9:27I don't know if. You know where to draw the line.
- 9:29I don't know if the Phillies, Bryce Harper specifically.
- 9:32Like new tires for your car maybe?
- 9:35OK, no, it's kind of a. Boring Christmas gift World
- 9:38Series, man, it'd be nice. I don't think it gets.
- 9:41I don't think you can downplay it no matter what team it is.
- 9:46I mean, I'm just going to go with the first thing you came in
- 9:47mind. Yours seems a little off brand.
- 9:50I'm going to go on brand. I just want Cody Bellinger back
- 9:55in the Yu. That's it.
- 9:57I was. Going to say the same my you're
- 9:59saying mine's off brand? Well.
- 10:01It's just, it's, you know, it's just off Red Sox land, you know?
- 10:08It's still pretty. I mean, it's it's on time, but
- 10:10it's not like we're talking about my guy, though.
- 10:13You're still talking about his ours and you're talking about a
- 10:15Philly we're talking about. It's wild to me.
- 10:18Well, I mean that there's a lot of things wrong with that
- 10:21picture, but they I'm I'm talking about our sweet young
- 10:25Prince, not ours, our sweet young Prince.
- 10:31Just deal with it. Josh, what's yours?
- 10:34Blackouts got to be got to be done with got to be done with
- 10:37blackouts. Good, good selfless wish list.
- 10:41Good for. You, you know what?
- 10:42Also Apple TV. I don't know why my mind.
- 10:45When you said blackout, I don't know why my mind immediately
- 10:48went to like a pirate's promotional night.
- 10:51Like everybody wear black. I don't know why I thought
- 10:53that's what you were talking about.
- 10:55That is also a thing. I mean, Cuts used to do the the
- 10:58blackouts where everybody, everybody that goes to the game
- 11:01wears black. Yeah, that's not where I was.
- 11:02I'm going MLBT. Sure, sure, sure.
- 11:04No, I got there. I got there.
- 11:05But I was thinking I'm like what?
- 11:06Why? What's the is there?
- 11:09Is there a terrible winning percentage in the blackouts?
- 11:12I don't. I didn't.
- 11:12Understand, I'd probably say. I'd probably say more like Black
- 11:15Hat if I was talking about. The Black Hat and that yin's.
- 11:21Its own language, man. Yeah, but let's talk Speaking of
- 11:26the Pirates. Oh no.
- 11:29Speaking of the Pirates, let's talk Pete Alonso, shall we?
- 11:35Pete Alonso heading to heading to to Baltimore on a five year,
- 11:41$155 million contract, which apparently decided to take a
- 11:47discount to play for the Orioles and had to turn down a mega deal
- 11:52from the Pirates, is what I'm hearing.
- 11:55He I mean, we're talking. Did you see something I didn't?
- 12:04I'm just going off of what I heard.
- 12:06Like JB hasn't sensed the sarcasm from KC yet.
- 12:09They're the your, your, your sarcasm sensor will start to.
- 12:14It'll get. Better.
- 12:16Oh, Josh, Josh, Josh. Well, no.
- 12:20The last I heard for the Pirates was that it was, what, 120?
- 12:27A $120 million offer. That's what I'm saying.
- 12:30That's that's Schwarber, not not Pete.
- 12:35But I thought they were also in the mix for for Alonzo, were
- 12:38they not? No, they weren't.
- 12:40OK, well then that's a shame. We're going to talk about
- 12:44Schwarber anyway, so yeah. But we'll fine.
- 12:46We'll start with. You just threw a grenade in an
- 12:48empty foxhole, my friend. It's all right.
- 12:53You know what? Hey, go pirates.
- 12:55No, let's, let's talk. Let's talk Alonzo.
- 12:57Though I I prefaced this recording before we hopped on.
- 13:04I, I jokingly said I'm a big, I'm a big Peter guy.
- 13:12And I got to say, well, can I explain?
- 13:14Please do. I'm not, I'm not actually a
- 13:18Peter guy, but I, I, I had a revelation today.
- 13:21I think it really does come down to the fact that it was the
- 13:27Mets, that it was him on the. Mets, I think time will tell,
- 13:31but I I don't believe you. I'm not saying now hear me out.
- 13:35I'm not saying that it's it it, it eliminates all, all corniness
- 13:40and all of that. But it I think it will be a lot
- 13:43easier to see Pete Alonso for who he is I when he's not
- 13:48surrounded by a circus of an organization.
- 13:50That was the first thing I actually thought of was like the
- 13:54fit with Baltimore specifically. And I've said this in the past
- 13:59about the Orioles that they're very like, there's there's no, I
- 14:07feel like there's no smiling. It's just like, we're here to
- 14:10play ball, We're here to win. That's all we care about.
- 14:13And like, I know they had a rough season last season, but
- 14:15like I there's something about just like there's no, there's no
- 14:21drip, there's no swag. It's just like gamers, like I
- 14:27look at Gunner and I'm just like, you're Stone cold just
- 14:30want to win and take that for what it is, right?
- 14:35Mets, it's Flash, it's New York, it's Francisco Lindor.
- 14:39It's colorful. It's and it's, I think it's
- 14:41just, I think this would be a better fit because Pete is maybe
- 14:48coming off corny in New York, maybe coming off because he's
- 14:52surrounded by swag, He's surrounded by Soto, surrounded
- 14:55by Lindor. Guys are just super smooth that
- 14:58look good doing everything. Even like a lesser name, like a
- 15:00guy like Vientos. Like Vientos has some flair to
- 15:03him. Francisco Alvarez, like all of
- 15:05those guys, just they have just kind of this swag about them.
- 15:09You go to Baltimore and it's it's a little different.
- 15:12I'm not saying that these guys aren't cool or any anything.
- 15:15It's just like they're very much focused on winning.
- 15:18Like I don't care if I have my colorful tape or wristbands or
- 15:24armed guard, like I don't care. I'm just here to win.
- 15:26I don't care what I look like. I don't care what it looks like.
- 15:29I'm here to win. And I think there's something
- 15:31about Peter that like would that is probably going to bring out
- 15:36some really good stuff in him. You may not believe it, and I
- 15:40didn't believe it until I started spending more time over
- 15:43there, like as an actual adult baseball fan because I, I, I
- 15:46mean, I lived over there as a kid, but I'm not, I'm not, you
- 15:49know, paying attention to these things in particular.
- 15:51But as I've been going to games more recently, you really
- 15:54realize that there's an element of like blue collar baseball
- 15:59with the Orioles and really. Kind of what I'm.
- 16:00Saying a broader, like a broader observation as it relates to the
- 16:04city too, because like they're from what I've from what I've
- 16:09experienced, like there are a people that come from all parts
- 16:12of Maryland to these games and like even West Virginia and you
- 16:15just got like they like the the John Denver, like thank God I'm
- 16:19a country boy is like their thing and like they bring this
- 16:23element of just like we're here to play slash watch baseball.
- 16:27If you're, I mean, if you're a player or fan, they're just here
- 16:29to to to do that. They're not here for really any
- 16:32of the. Extra curriculum, the the fans
- 16:35going to the ballpark. It's that is their day, you know
- 16:39what I'm saying? In like New York, it's like you
- 16:41want to go to a game, cool, the game's over and there's like, we
- 16:44can go do whatever we want now, you know what I mean?
- 16:47It's I think there's just like a different mindset about the
- 16:49Orioles. I actually really like the fit.
- 16:52I think it makes sense. I think he's going to get to be
- 16:55himself. He gets to be this like weird
- 16:57cornball Pardo that's just like sleeps with his glove at night,
- 17:02You know what I mean? Like I just that's how I picture
- 17:04Peter. So I think it is a really good
- 17:06fit. I think the lineup just got
- 17:08deeper. I think pushing Adly a little
- 17:11bit further down in that 5-6 spot and you know, it really
- 17:16kind of gives some punch to the top of the lineup.
- 17:19I like it a lot. I think the Mets are extremely
- 17:26desperate to get some protection behind Soto now.
- 17:29Like I I saw something that made so much sense to me as that if
- 17:32they don't, if they don't get a bat, you're dropping.
- 17:37What does he get? AAV.
- 17:39Soto yeah, yeah, 40 something. You're spending 40 plus
- 17:44$1,000,000 for A120125 walks because that's what you're going
- 17:50to get if there's no protection. 5151 is it?
- 17:5751 Holy smokes. In 2026, for some reason in 27
- 18:01it drops to 47, then it goes back to 51, almost 52.
- 18:04It's crazy, $51 million to. Walk A. 175 times.
- 18:10That's what it's going to if they don't get somebody.
- 18:13So now is it like, do they? Who do they get?
- 18:16I don't do you go I it's weird to say Bregman would hit behind
- 18:19Soto. And I heard that take and I was
- 18:21like, I don't, I don't know about that.
- 18:24I don't know. But it's ahead of orb trade I
- 18:26think. I mean, ahead of or behind
- 18:29Bregman's not giving you the protection that you're looking
- 18:31for. Like he's not, he's not giving
- 18:32you that presents that you would need to to cushion a guy like
- 18:36Soto. Kyle Tucker, I your left, left
- 18:41like for the whole year, you know, like it's very interesting
- 18:46of who they're going to need to go get.
- 18:48And I think it's via trade. I don't know what their farm
- 18:51looks like, but like that was they've missed out on so many
- 18:57names. They've let so many names out
- 18:59the door. And I get that they're trying to
- 19:02maybe switch up their culture a little bit, but I'm just like,
- 19:04yo, this is you're not doing anything.
- 19:12I love the fit for for our guy Peter though I'm wearing. 25 Oh,
- 19:18is he not 20? That was Santander, I believe,
- 19:22right? Yeah, I think someone wore it
- 19:25after. I think someone wore it last
- 19:26year. I saw the post.
- 19:28I don't know who, though. You see his.
- 19:31Thank you to New York. Letter I didn't see his to New
- 19:36York. I saw what you sent us the the
- 19:38Mets for the thank you for. Pete, thank you, Pete.
- 19:43Thank you. Pete.
- 19:43That's like, that's like the weatherman just finished this
- 19:46segment and we're just going back to the main anchor.
- 19:48Like that was the coldest. It's insane that you couldn't
- 19:52drum up anything else. Absurd.
- 19:55I bet I I have a. Feeling there was like somebody
- 19:58in the media department that wrote this thing out, produced
- 20:01this beautiful thing and then it went to like the boss and
- 20:05director was like. No, we're just going to say
- 20:08thanks. Take care.
- 20:09You know that's still at the end of the video.
- 20:11Just send that out. Yeah, the last, the last part
- 20:15actually I like the last thing and the the last thing you put
- 20:19in your note that's it cut off everything else out in the
- 20:21middle they. Hate Pete Alonso.
- 20:24The Mets Hate Pete Alonso. His thank you letter never
- 20:28mentioned the Mets specifically, he just kept saying team in New
- 20:32York. Wow, honestly good let.
- 20:35Me see if I can find it. I tell you what, man, I, I mean,
- 20:38I've, I've been the biggest Pete Alonzo hater.
- 20:42I mean, I've, I feel like I invented the Pete Alonzo hate
- 20:46club, but it's I tell you what I love.
- 20:49I love pettiness. You know this about me.
- 20:52And I tell you what, if this is going to become a thing, oh, I'm
- 20:56here for it. If this is going to become sort
- 20:58of a thing where the the relationship just kind of stays
- 21:03fractured between these two. Yeah.
- 21:06I feel like I'm going to pull for Peter in this situation
- 21:09because the Mets just made it abundantly clear that they did
- 21:13not want this, which is fine. Like you don't have like no
- 21:15offer. If if for some reason you just
- 21:17feel like a guy's not a fit, that's fine.
- 21:19But like, just RIP it off like a Band-Aid and don't like, like
- 21:24the way last year's free agency went where it's like.
- 21:27Painful. I mean, that was like a a car
- 21:30wreck, what you just had to watch.
- 21:32And and then the way this offseason went where they didn't
- 21:37even make, yeah, like you said, they didn't even make an offer.
- 21:40I don't know. I just.
- 21:41I got no thank you letter. Kohler, Pete 20 quote New York,
- 21:47thank you. These last few years have shaped
- 21:50me in ways I'll carry for the rest of my life.
- 21:52The city demands your best, and I'm proud to look back knowing I
- 21:56gave everything I had into earning the privilege of wearing
- 21:58that jersey. I've been blessed with
- 22:01incredible teammates, coaches, trainer, staff and countless
- 22:03people who have helped shape me into the player and man that I
- 22:06am today. I'm forever grateful for every
- 22:08person who challenged me, supported me and believed in me
- 22:11along the way. Thank you for the passion, Thank
- 22:13you for the love, even the tough love that comes with playing for
- 22:17New York when I when it came time for first pitch.
- 22:20Thank you for being electric through it all.
- 22:22Thank you for getting rowdy every time I stepped up to the
- 22:24plate and made the building shake when the ball found a seat
- 22:27over the wall. Your energy fueled me more than
- 22:30you'll ever know. You believed in me, and you made
- 22:33me better with love. Polar bear and the quote all
- 22:40right in New York wearing that jersey, he'd there was no
- 22:46mention. I think there's I don't know.
- 22:52I'm here for it though. I like it.
- 22:53Oh. Jeez.
- 22:57Flappy One. Baltimore didn't have anyone
- 23:02over 17 home runs last year, and Jordan Westberg, the basically
- 23:07the right-hander in that lineup that's still there, is the only
- 23:10right-hander they've added, Ward and Pete Alonso.
- 23:16I love I think I saw so Jackson Holiday, Jordan Westberg, Gunner
- 23:23Henderson, Peter Adley fill in the blanks for the rest.
- 23:29That's that's a good one through 5 if Adley. 11.
- 23:35Figures out whatever happened. Fan graphs has Holiday,
- 23:39Westburg, Gunner, Pete Adley, Taylor Ward and then still
- 23:43reverse. Iowa in the Yeah.
- 23:45I saw I saw him at the 9 hole. Really.
- 23:48He's in the 9 hole? Yeah, which at 21 years old,
- 23:51it's not a bad. Thing no, no, no disrespect.
- 23:54I do like this is an important move.
- 23:57Last thing I think this is great you they've been searching for
- 24:01right-handed pop. They've struggled with the left
- 24:03field wall. Bring it in push it back out
- 24:06bring it back in lower fences raise fences that they've been
- 24:10looking for this so this is your long term fix and show up to
- 24:16work every day. Then I think that's a that's a
- 24:19place that I'll love you, so it's a good fit.
- 24:22What did I say? I said my on my IG post.
- 24:25I said my Christmas wish, among others, was for the Orioles to
- 24:29spend real American currency. And I think what, 3 days, 2-3
- 24:34days later they said we got you. Speaking of spending money,
- 24:42let's talk about let's talk about Kyle Schwarber, the guy
- 24:48the the Pirates really, really made an offer.
- 24:54On Here's another Grenade Got the right foxhole this time.
- 25:00Clearing out the right pill box this time.
- 25:04Kyle Schwarber five year, $150 million deal with the Phillies.
- 25:09Going back or staying in Philly, ultimately, I think the teams
- 25:15that were down the stretch officially in the mix, whether
- 25:21or not official offers are made is another story.
- 25:25But I think the teams that were were most directly tied to him
- 25:29were the the Red Sox, the Phillies, obviously the Reds.
- 25:35Reds were in in the hunt as well.
- 25:38I'm assuming the Mets, right? I think the Mets were in there
- 25:41as well. No, were they not?
- 25:42I don't remember hearing them. Yeah, I didn't see any offers.
- 25:46Well, I thought there was just the reason I said Mets is I just
- 25:48I thought that there was multiple teams that were linked
- 25:53to both guys should one not paying out in in seeking a bat
- 25:59and I thought the Mets were one of those teams, but maybe not.
- 26:01Because early on their name was dropped.
- 26:03But I don't think they OK, I don't think they went there.
- 26:06Because I know some teams were just ready to pivot but
- 26:10ultimately ends up with the Phillies.
- 26:13And and Baltimore. Baltimore was in there, too.
- 26:17Baltimore Yes, cleaners are coming.
- 26:20They're can hear the. Little wheels going across the
- 26:22grout tiles you. Can hear the footsteps.
- 26:25It should be so awkward and I'm not even wearing shoes.
- 26:29Here it comes. I kind of want to wait this out.
- 26:33Wait this out? Kind of like the Grim Reaper,
- 26:38almost. It's like, I know I'm kind of
- 26:39freaked out. Knock, knock I.
- 26:45Don't know they kept rolling we're.
- 26:52Going to do this for the next 5 minutes.
- 26:54It's possible I think. Safe.
- 27:00On air sign, flip that thing on. Safe to say this was what most
- 27:05people were expecting to happen. I did think it was interesting.
- 27:08You know, you had the you had the Reds make a run at it.
- 27:10You had the Pirates reportedly make a run at it.
- 27:12I don't to, to what degree, I don't know.
- 27:14No disrespect. Oh no, Oh no, Oh no.
- 27:17There's some disrespect there. Well, the Pirates offered more
- 27:20money than the Reds. What did the?
- 27:23Same dollar figure, so same dollar figure 125 but the Reds
- 27:28were five years, but they. Threw in a hope.
- 27:30The Pirates were only four years, so same money there.
- 27:34The The Orioles actually offered the same contract he got from
- 27:37Philly, so it's probably safe to say Orioles were a close second.
- 27:47And I'm remembering this, right. Schwarber signed first.
- 27:52Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 27:52Because Alonzo was yesterday. Yeah.
- 27:55Yeah, that's always one of my favorite elements of the
- 28:00offseason is seeing how quickly teams will try to pivot if
- 28:05you're in on a guy, Yeah, because the stuff can drop on a
- 28:07dime and then you're kind of left with your hands in your
- 28:10pants being like, what do we do now?
- 28:12Do. You think better fit for for
- 28:16Baltimore, actually missing out on that and going with Pete?
- 28:20Yeah. I know Schwarber is the guy,
- 28:23right? He's because he's that dude.
- 28:24But the right-handed element and everything probably is better
- 28:28for Baltimore, OH. Schwarber Schwarber Field day in
- 28:32Baltimore, though. Oh my.
- 28:34OK. The warehouse, That's the
- 28:36question though, you know, donor.
- 28:37Protection plug at first base. What do you do with Paseo if
- 28:42Schwarber comes in? Do you teach Paseo how to play
- 28:45first full time? Like it I think.
- 28:48Yeah, the I want it on record that I'm a big Ryan Mountcastle
- 28:52truther too, by the way. Is he still there?
- 28:56What's? Yeah, sure is.
- 29:02But yeah, no, Schwarber just belongs in Philly, man.
- 29:06I mean, it's just it's a fit and, and I know I've been, I've
- 29:09gone on record as saying like that.
- 29:11I feel like the the Phillies window is just kind of, I, I
- 29:17don't know, super ambiguous at this point.
- 29:19I mean, there for a few years we've talked about it.
- 29:21They it was wide open, but now we talked about their stars are
- 29:26aging, some guys are struggling, struggling to stay healthy.
- 29:33But at least if you have one constant in your lineup that you
- 29:37can count on and a guy like Schwarber that at least help
- 29:41that at least kicks the can down the road a little bit longer.
- 29:45I I. Would it feels it feels the most
- 29:46right when I think that's everyone's reaction was boring
- 29:49because I think they all deep down knew that.
- 29:53Which wants to be. Yeah, that's where he belongs.
- 29:57Yeah. Philly loves him.
- 29:59Philly. Loves him.
- 30:01Anything he plays for loves him. That's right.
- 30:03That's the simple fact. That's why you saw.
- 30:06Sorry, Jimmy, I was. Going to say that's why you saw
- 30:08such a a bid. A bidding war for a guy who's
- 30:12ADH only because there's more to the player than just, oh, he can
- 30:17hit 50 homers. But also this guy has the IT
- 30:21factor, right? And he's been a part of of some
- 30:25teams that have been really good, including a team who broke
- 30:27100 year drought for World Series.
- 30:31You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, great fit, normal
- 30:36fit, regular fit. I think the Phillies just got to
- 30:40go and shake shake up a lot of other stuff.
- 30:45Like if you're committed to this, you're committed to Bryce,
- 30:47you're committed to Trey. I mean, I could maybe see bring
- 30:52back JT, but like, let's get a little more athletic.
- 30:56Let's let's go. I've heard them in on on Cody
- 31:00Bellinger. I think that would make a ton of
- 31:03sense. It's been some question Marks
- 31:05and in the outfield trade, Nick Casiano.
- 31:08It's like I maybe even move bomb like there's I think there's a
- 31:13little little bit of a shake up now that you can.
- 31:16I don't see it making sense to just totally run it back.
- 31:19Obviously it hasn't been working.
- 31:21There are certain certain pieces in any situation like this where
- 31:27it doesn't make sense to shake up.
- 31:29Like a shake up is due in Philly, no doubt, but that
- 31:34doesn't automatically mean that you have to shake every fashion.
- 31:38Of your lineup, but leave the I think the core is fine, it's
- 31:40just. Like that's what I'm saying.
- 31:41I'm, I'm with you. I'm with you.
- 31:42Like Bryce, Trey, obviously Schwarber now, like I, I, I saw
- 31:48people, people at the people. The second the season ended,
- 31:54they said we got to get we got to shake things up.
- 31:56We got to get Bryce out of here. I'm like, what are you?
- 31:58Do you hear? Yourself.
- 32:00That was a weird like week and a half.
- 32:02They were like Bryce to the Yankees was like what?
- 32:05What are we talking? When?
- 32:06Why? For what?
- 32:08Yeah, that he's fine. He's beloved.
- 32:11I. Don't plenty of other areas that
- 32:12you can you can get a a breath of fresh air in and shake things
- 32:16up. You don't need to get rid of
- 32:17Bryce. You don't need to get rid of
- 32:18Schwarber, which they didn't, and you don't need to get get
- 32:20rid of a guy like Trey. Yeah, rotation is still in great
- 32:23shape. They're fine.
- 32:28Speaking of the NL, E Edwin Diaz will no longer be, well, member
- 32:34of that division as he is headed out West to, believe it or not,
- 32:39the Los Angeles Dodgers. Crazy.
- 32:42They've been hard pressed trying to nail down talent the last few
- 32:45years, so they finally got their guy.
- 32:47Three years, $69 million, he's going to be their guy.
- 32:53He's going to be their guy. There's no question, Tanner,
- 32:57Scott, any of these other solutions they've tried to plug
- 32:59in, no longer. Edwin Diaz is their guy and the
- 33:05trumpets will be making their way.
- 33:07New outro, right? To Dodger Stadium I.
- 33:10Think we got to find a new outro?
- 33:11I don't know. I saw, I, I, I think I saw a
- 33:14clip or something that showed the, was it the Dodgers organist
- 33:18or something? Was already hitting the trumpets
- 33:21on the on the switch it up. Don't bring any of that Mets
- 33:26nonsense over here, you know what I mean?
- 33:29I mean, but it's kind of a thing that kind of just becomes
- 33:33synonymous with you as a player. I feel like you just got to
- 33:36bring it with you, you know? Nah, I'm it's true.
- 33:41This didn't do anything for me. But I didn't.
- 33:44I'm not that high on Edwin Diaz. I don't I don't see it.
- 33:51I think he's has can have a really good stretch and then
- 33:57just like the valleys can get really low.
- 34:00So it's more the same for me now, for obvious reasons.
- 34:06That bullpen can get scary when like all things are a go and
- 34:10everyone's tuned up. They're coming for me when all
- 34:16things are tuned up, you know, when like.
- 34:20This is like a mini, mini Horror Story, but like that we're we're
- 34:23just witnessing like AI don't. Know what's crazy is that like
- 34:27it does look creepy because I'm the only one in here except them
- 34:34and the light like my overhead lights are off.
- 34:37I just got our like production light.
- 34:39So if someone's looking from the outside, it definitely looks
- 34:42like a murder scene. Blam blam blam gun flashes.
- 34:48Just popping you from the outside.
- 34:49Well, at least we'll have. Consuela got me.
- 34:52We'll have, we'll have recorded footage, though I won't have
- 34:57any. I won't have any vantage points
- 34:59from the outside, obviously, but at least we'll have you know,
- 35:03angles. Do the Michael Scott like coffee
- 35:05trick? Perks of a stand up desk, you
- 35:11know what I mean? I don't know why you need to be
- 35:14getting coffee from the warehouse with a with a murderer
- 35:17outside your window. Not sure how we arrived there
- 35:19but Edwin Diaz Devil. Pins rolling all at the same
- 35:26time. That's pretty scary because I
- 35:29think Tanner Scott, like, I mean, obviously that's in there,
- 35:33it's in him. He's he's a stud.
- 35:35So like if he can go and and kind of lock things down Vesia,
- 35:40like they have talent back there.
- 35:42It's just who's going to show up?
- 35:44Do you think the do you think the Devin Williams signing
- 35:48played into it at all? Do you think there was any
- 35:51feeling of disrespect there Or do you think Edwin Diaz was like
- 35:55like? Like, the Dodgers weren't even
- 35:57on the radar, and then Devin Williams got signed by the Mets,
- 36:00so Edwin's like, I know where it'll hurt most.
- 36:05You think that, you think they played into it a little bit.
- 36:08Maybe there's pettiness there. If we're going to, if there's
- 36:10pettiness, we're going to find it.
- 36:11You know we're going to seek it out.
- 36:15I'm all about it. Yeah.
- 36:19Do you like it? Do you care?
- 36:21I don't think I care that much. I I really don't.
- 36:25And we numb at this point to any Dodger signings.
- 36:31I think it can be both. I think we can be numb to Dodger
- 36:34sign insurance, but also recognize that not every move
- 36:39they make is going to pan out. Look no further than Tanner
- 36:42Scott. And I'm not, I'm not writing
- 36:44that acquisition off altogether, but it's like just because the
- 36:47they bring somebody in doesn't mean that it's going to be a
- 36:49good fit. Sure, they spent the money and
- 36:52and that's going to upset some people and it will continue to
- 36:55upset people the more money that they do spend.
- 36:58This was kind of a bargain in my mind, too.
- 37:00Like it wasn't even that big of a son of that flashy of a sale.
- 37:03It's just a name, you know. He opted out of the two year 38
- 37:09million he had left on the five year deal.
- 37:15What are the Mets doing? So definitely tacking on a
- 37:17little bit there. I mean.
- 37:19Do we ever know? Isn't it an upgrade?
- 37:21I can tell you that? What was the other signing?
- 37:24Who'd they get? Well, they traded.
- 37:29They traded Nimmo. Who'd they get in return?
- 37:32Simeon. Simeon.
- 37:33Yeah. I what are they?
- 37:36I, I don't know. I went to the the thank you Pete
- 37:39post from the Mets, and there was just the fire, David
- 37:43Stearns, like over and over and over and over and over in the
- 37:46comments section. So.
- 37:49Paul is right in the world. The Mets are are Mets in again?
- 37:52Yeah, they're yeah. Nature.
- 37:54Nature's healing last. Year was not not what anyone
- 37:57needed. Nature is healing.
- 38:01Nature's healing question here. Three years, 69 minutes.
- 38:04That's $23 million for a closer. You just called a bargain.
- 38:10I As far as the market goes, there's no one else out there.
- 38:15You know what I mean? I think that I think that's a
- 38:18bargain. I mean, look at the look at the
- 38:22the qualifying offers this year, $22 million like that's and and
- 38:29Dodgerland and under that umbrella, yeah, I think that's a
- 38:32bargain. Money isn't real to the Dodgers,
- 38:36so it frankly doesn't matter what what the price tag is.
- 38:40I I think I recognize his game. I'm just personally like, I
- 38:44don't, I don't know if that's just the Mets.
- 38:49I I just picture a lot of blown saves.
- 38:53So, question again. The Mets spent silly money,
- 38:59right? They went out and just spent
- 39:00money everywhere. Is there a chance that they
- 39:04actually come out of this offseason with a few more moves,
- 39:07maybe some savvy moves, spend less money, but actually have a
- 39:11better baseball team? I.
- 39:13Don't know. I think they're not thinking it,
- 39:14but I really do. I think they're over thinking
- 39:16it. Yeah, I think they're going to
- 39:18try to get too cute with it and they're going to panic.
- 39:21Trading Nimmo for Simeon felt like it was like you're
- 39:24overthinking this. Strange.
- 39:29Speaking of another reliever, Robert Suarez announced today he
- 39:36had signed a three-year, $45 million contract with the
- 39:39Braves. Braves spending a little quiche.
- 39:43Excellent move. You like to see that excellent
- 39:45move. Please explain.
- 39:48I like them. I like that a lot.
- 39:52I like that a lot. The Braves needed something, you
- 39:55know, Iglesias moves. To the 9th snow staying in the
- 40:019th. Nah for maybe a month.
- 40:06I'm just telling you what was reported.
- 40:07Yeah, maybe a month. By your dear friend Ken
- 40:11Rosenthal. Old Kenny and others, Old tiny
- 40:16hands Kenny. Yeah, that job's done.
- 40:20Roberts taking that job by by June.
- 40:25The latest. Good move, though.
- 40:29I like it. Do we think we get, do we think
- 40:35we get the Braves of old? And I said this, Conan, going
- 40:38into this, this last season, it didn't quite pan out that way,
- 40:42at least the way I was expecting.
- 40:45Do you think, do you think we get a a competitive Braves team
- 40:50this year? Maybe a shortstop.
- 40:55Maybe a shortstop? I still feel like Willy Damas
- 41:00was a great fit for them last offseason.
- 41:03I mean, like, I don't know what I'm not familiar with, like the
- 41:09supposed defensive decline of Beau Bichette like I is, is it
- 41:14just like a massive fall off? And I'm the last one to find out
- 41:18about it? Because like, I didn't know
- 41:19about that until he was hurt. And then they made the Blue Jays
- 41:26move Jimenez to short and they were like, oh, what an upgrade.
- 41:29And I was like, I didn't know that Beau was like that bad.
- 41:33But like, that seems like the only option or unless they bring
- 41:35back Hassan Kim, like I don't know where the Braves pivot.
- 41:38I don't know if it's via trade. But like Nick Allen, where I was
- 41:42talking with my buddy today, he's a Braves fan.
- 41:44And I was like, Nick Allen is the smallest human being and
- 41:50he's got like AOPS plus of like a 58.
- 41:53And I'm like, that doesn't work. You need to go get a stick.
- 41:59Speaking of decline real quick, I I had this I've I've had this
- 42:03thought for some time, but I've been thinking about it in
- 42:05particular this last couple days as as stories are being written
- 42:10about these free agents. Can we stop as a sport talking
- 42:16about guys who are in like their early 30s as if they're 75 years
- 42:22old. It is unbelievable like this is
- 42:26it's, it's, I mean, baseball today in so many capacities, so
- 42:31many facets is just such a better product.
- 42:35Just given the athleticism, the strength, the this, that,
- 42:39whatever you want to call it. But it's, it's when we're
- 42:45talking about things like this that really make me miss the the
- 42:48days of old where guys are out there in the mid to late 30s,
- 42:52even some early 40s just grinding away, just going out
- 42:57there and playing ball. But we're talking about guys who
- 43:00are like 20-9 years old being like, well, he's making the,
- 43:03he's making the turn into the back half of his career.
- 43:07It's only downhill from here. It's like he hasn't even turned
- 43:0930 yet. Yeah, it's.
- 43:11Weird. I don't understand our obsession
- 43:14with writing off guys who are barely have hair on their chest
- 43:20being like, well, it's it's been a great career.
- 43:25I'd love to know like the average age of MVPS over the
- 43:29last 1520 years, you know, because it's got to be around
- 43:33then I, there's such a peak at that 29 to 31 range because like
- 43:40physically you're still what you are physically.
- 43:43Now your mentals are finally put together.
- 43:46I don't, I don't really understand it.
- 43:48But back to my point, I don't know.
- 43:51I don't know what else the Braves need to do.
- 43:53That kind of seems like the last thing because you can kind of
- 43:57this is a team that you can run back and just say if we can stay
- 44:01a little healthier than we were last year, they're going to be
- 44:07just fine. And Spencer Strider needs to do
- 44:14something. Be normal.
- 44:21Speaking of, Speaking of starting pitching, Tigers
- 44:28apparently open to a Tarek scoop or trade.
- 44:32What do we think about that? And I'm seeing a lot of smoke as
- 44:40it relates to the Dodgers. Me too.
- 44:43And I don't know if I like it. I saw smoke that like a deals in
- 44:46place. Did you see that?
- 44:49That's what I saw. Same puff of smoke.
- 44:52Quote serious talks. I don't know if I like that.
- 44:59I hate it. I.
- 45:00Think I hate it. I would hate that.
- 45:03That would really piss me off. That would send that would that
- 45:09would shock waves. That would absolutely undo
- 45:17everything that I've built up in my perception of Tarek Scubble
- 45:25to this point of his career being like, this guy is a dog,
- 45:28this guy is going to go out and try to cut your throat.
- 45:31And then you kind of just seem as like a sell out after that.
- 45:36I mean, how could you not? Yeah.
- 45:39I mean, I don't know if it's his call.
- 45:43I'm sure I mean definitely not, but.
- 45:52I think it's hard, man, because like you look at you look at the
- 45:55Tigers and you're like, you've been fun to watch.
- 45:59You have been trending in the right direction over the last
- 46:04few years. But like, let's face it,
- 46:07compared to the teams that are competing for a World Series
- 46:11trophy, you're like, they're just not there.
- 46:16They just don't have that kind of depth.
- 46:19Getting rid of school at peak is probably a really tough look,
- 46:24but the hall that you would get, it would really help him turn a
- 46:29corner. So I, I don't, I respect them
- 46:34entertaining it, but at the same time it's like you could just go
- 46:39spend a little bit of money and move a couple pieces and fill
- 46:44different holes and make a run at it with scuba True Ace.
- 46:52I don't know. It's hard to say.
- 46:58I don't want to talk about it, but I don't want to put that out
- 47:02there any more than it already is.
- 47:04No, I, I, I what you're saying about the trade and it being out
- 47:08of his control. I, I understand that.
- 47:10I think I was already, I think I was getting ahead of myself and
- 47:13thinking of what a potential free agency would look like.
- 47:16And if, if it did get to that point, because you would have to
- 47:19think, if that is the case, why wouldn't the Dodgers be in the
- 47:25mix? So I think I should get ahead of
- 47:26myself there. But either way, I hope we just
- 47:29don't see Terry school in the Dodgers uniform at any point.
- 47:32I think that would, I think that would be a nice Christmas wish,
- 47:36whether it be this year or next year.
- 47:39Yeah. Whether it's be a trade or or
- 47:42free agency. I think that would like put the
- 47:44nail in the coffin for a lockout that would be that would be the
- 47:49final straw. I hate it.
- 47:57Yeah, I'm with you. I hate it.
- 47:59You know what I you know what I don't hate, though?
- 48:03These latest additions to the World Baseball Classic Team USA
- 48:09roster. Oh my goon Kyle Schwarber bright
- 48:17string, which announced on the same day, I believe within
- 48:20actually within like the hour, I think it was announced after his
- 48:25his contract with the Phils, it was announced that he'd be
- 48:29joining Team USA or I should say rejoining because he was he was
- 48:36on that 2023 squad. Bryce Tarang was also announced
- 48:39Gunner Henderson as well as Will Smith.
- 48:46Position players so far we've got Schwarber, Gunner, Will
- 48:51Smith, Judge Tarang, PCA, Corbin Carroll, Bobby Witt, Junior and
- 49:00Cal Raleigh. And on the bump we've got Paul
- 49:04Skeens and Garrett Clevenger. Pretty solid is.
- 49:12That real clevenger. Clevenger.
- 49:16Yeah, gotcha. Not Mike.
- 49:21Garrett. Oh, not Mike.
- 49:22Who's Garrett? I don't even know who that is.
- 49:26That's fine. So I kind of whispered it.
- 49:28That's why I kind of whispered. It welcome to the squad.
- 49:31Yeah. Not on.
- 49:31Yeah, not on the professional team roster.
- 49:36Is there a roster? Is he not professional?
- 49:39Is that how? That works.
- 49:40Is there like a futures WBC? I literally saw it today, it
- 49:44said Garrett Clevender joins Team US as bullpen.
- 49:47Oh, I don't know, it's probably just not on the site yet.
- 49:51OK, that's cool. Oh, you're saying that you're
- 49:53checking the roster? I was just checking the roster
- 49:55on the site. Nate and I were talking while
- 49:58you were trying to turn the day off.
- 50:00Called you out. Yeah, I feel attacked.
- 50:02No, I you saw it. They just haven't updated it
- 50:05yet. I'm calling.
- 50:06I'm calling out the people that write the website.
- 50:09Come on guys. We need pitching, Garrett.
- 50:11Relief pitcher Garrett Clevenger will be playing for Team USA in
- 50:14the upcoming WBC. We need pitching, we need
- 50:18pitching. Garrett Whitlock Oh hold on.
- 50:22Garrett Whitlock has officially announced he will represent Team
- 50:25USA in the 22 the BBC. We need one more.
- 50:29One more stud school. Let's go.
- 50:31What are we doing? What are you waiting on?
- 50:34Well, crochet, crochet and no, he they said no, no, sock said
- 50:47no. Oh, really?
- 50:49Arts. Reed said no.
- 50:51Yeah, what a what a puss. Your own team just declined.
- 50:56Didn't even let your guy answer. That's that's not his fault.
- 51:01Take it up with the front office.
- 51:02You know how I feel about front offices.
- 51:05I'd say the. I'd say the same thing about
- 51:07them. Yeah, no, they said.
- 51:11I think they said no one on crochet and Anthony participated
- 51:16in the WBC, so that's fun. Yeah, we need arms.
- 51:20Our guy, our guy, Jaron Duran, is spiking up for Team Mexico.
- 51:26How about that? Saw Nolan Arenado growing Puerto
- 51:29Rico. What is that about?
- 51:31I don't know. I don't.
- 51:32I just like they, I feel like they do Ancestry DNA and they're
- 51:35like 3%. You're on like welcome aboard.
- 51:40That's all it takes. I mean, that's what's the like,
- 51:45how do you go on the run that Team USA went on last year?
- 51:48And like you're a part, you're like an integral part of that.
- 51:50You're like holding down the hot corner and then you're just
- 51:53like, now I'm I'm going to go play for Puerto Rico.
- 51:57I feel like he just probably wanted to be in it and USA was
- 52:01like, we're all set, we're good. Well, I mean that's actually he
- 52:07wouldn't be starting that's I guess that that's the the
- 52:10primary factor there, but. His father, Fernando, is of
- 52:13Cuban ancestry. His mother, Millie, a native of
- 52:17Queens, NY, is of Cuban and Puerto Rican ancestry.
- 52:21There you go. Better off playing for Cuba.
- 52:24Did he play for Puerto Rico before?
- 52:25Why do I feel like he did? Oh, pretty sure.
- 52:29He's been USA the whole time. Twice, right?
- 52:32Yeah, I think so. Yeah, I.
- 52:33Don't know. I don't know who I'm thinking
- 52:34of. That's annoying, I don't like
- 52:36it. But where's the one?
- 52:39Where's the 1 hole defensively or in the lineup, I should say
- 52:44the Team USA has I sent you the I sent you the projected lineup
- 52:47yesterday, 2 days ago. Where's the projected hole that
- 52:51they have as it stands right now in the lineup?
- 52:54Well, I asked a question before we got on air.
- 52:57I think Bryce Tarang hits lefty, right?
- 52:59Did we talk about this already? I don't know if it was
- 53:01confirmed. I'd like a like a solid off the
- 53:04bench right-handed option that can play second base just to
- 53:07kind of platoon a little bit. That's fine.
- 53:10I'm talking starters, though. What's what's the current
- 53:13vacancy that the team has right now?
- 53:15Pitching in the lineup? What position?
- 53:19None first. Yeah, that's right.
- 53:23Who has yet to commit? Yeah, I don't know.
- 53:30It's your guy. What's our sweet young Prince
- 53:32doing, buddy? Stop with the what?
- 53:34What was he making the other day?
- 53:37Was it, was he making like a brisket or something?
- 53:39Was it wings? Wings.
- 53:41That's what it was. Yeah.
- 53:42Come on man. Yeah, that was a tough watch, by
- 53:45the way. The other ones were a lot
- 53:46better. That was a tough watch.
- 53:49I don't. So I get to the point.
- 53:53Speed this up. I, I tell you what, I was a huge
- 53:56fan of this, this new era of Bryce, but I don't if, if, if he
- 54:01continues to go down this rabbit hole.
- 54:03I'm I'm fearful. I don't know where this ends.
- 54:07Me neither, but Schwarber just make a call, yo.
- 54:10Let's go. Cool.
- 54:13We need we need that hunger back and not for snacks and and.
- 54:17Eats. I'm talking like the heavy
- 54:19though. I don't care.
- 54:21Lineups lefty heavy. You know who you're talking.
- 54:24To but I feel like Peter being like a hard O being like I'm
- 54:28committed to Baltimore now will not participate.
- 54:32He was in it last time. I know Gutter's there.
- 54:35That's why I just gave the context of him being committed
- 54:37to Baltimore. I sure I understand.
- 54:40What does gutter have to do with first base?
- 54:43No, I'm saying another oriole. No.
- 54:46So he's he's saying my new edition.
- 54:49Yeah. Yeah, I get.
- 54:50It I want to prove it. Yeah, I.
- 54:52Feel yeah, I'm. Going to show up.
- 54:54He's already in Florida for sure.
- 54:56He's already at the spring training.
- 54:57Sarasota, Yeah. Shout him out.
- 55:00Yeah, sleeping in the dugout. I saw, I saw Calvin put out a
- 55:07tweet today. Well, it wasn't Calvin.
- 55:09It's whoever runs his representation said good to have
- 55:15you something effective. Good to have you in Baltimore.
- 55:17Peter. Let's go grab some, let's go
- 55:19grab some crabs. So I think if we, if we know
- 55:24Peter, based on what we've seen in New York, he's going to eat
- 55:27that up and he's going to, he's going to fully immerse himself
- 55:30into that environment. So, yeah, all I'd say I, I
- 55:34could, I could see what you're saying.
- 55:35I, I could see it happen. And maybe he just declined this
- 55:38time around. I don't know.
- 55:38Yeah, all the more reason to get our guy Bryce in there does.
- 55:42D Roe have the pole that's needed.
- 55:47To get Bryce on the team. Just any like I feel like does
- 55:51he have that pole? Well, what are they?
- 55:53I don't. Like hearing about these
- 55:55declines? No, it's kind of a shot gut
- 56:00punch. Is this like a thing?
- 56:02I'm not saying you're you're saying this, but it is this like
- 56:05a, are you saying this is maybe connected to like a Boris thing,
- 56:08like a as a blockade almost or are you just saying with like
- 56:13any agent? Pull.
- 56:16Yeah. So you have that pull.
- 56:19I mean if you can get a guy like Skeins on the club.
- 56:25Yeah, I don't know. First base in pitching.
- 56:30It'll be figured out by next episode.
- 56:32Give me Bryce at first. Give me two more stud arms in
- 56:35the rotation. It's game over.
- 56:41Nobody's beating that team. I said the same thing last time
- 56:46around, but we didn't have the pitching.
- 56:48Didn't have the pitching whatsoever.
- 56:49We had Adam Wainwright taking the ball.
- 56:51No disrespect. Oh my gosh, Some, some there's a
- 56:54little, there's a little disrespect.
- 56:55We love. We love Wayno.
- 56:58But Roki said. Did Roki say no?
- 57:01Yamamoto said yes. Did I see?
- 57:03Roki said yes and then backed out.
- 57:06Why do I? Because I saw it.
- 57:07Today he said yes, backed out. Yamamamoto's in.
- 57:12Yeah, Yamamoto's in and then Otani Otani's also in too.
- 57:18Yeah, Roki, get healthy guy. Yeah.
- 57:22That was weird. Yeah.
- 57:23He's like, yeah, I'm good. And then Nope, banging out
- 57:25right. I'm I'm not crazy.
- 57:27He he did commit initially. I think so.
- 57:30I could have sworn I. Don't know, maybe Nightingale
- 57:33posted it and. Bob, I don't actually hold on.
- 57:45Let's see if I can. Let's see if I can make this
- 57:46work. Stand by.
- 57:49Please hold. Please hold.
- 57:51I think my cleaner's left. It's quiet, too quiet.
- 58:06All right, it's time for a new special segments Ray.
- 58:13'S question of the week. Nice.
- 58:16Ray's Question of the Week. Bump that volume up.
- 58:20Yeah, I don't know what that was about.
- 58:22That was, that was weak. Voice of an Angel.
- 58:24Here we go, let's try this Jesus question.
- 58:26Of the week. That's good.
- 58:30Beautiful. Ray's Ray's question of the
- 58:34week. His question this week is what's
- 58:37a guilty pleasure? That's kind of embarrassing,
- 58:40Marie, I hate to break it to you.
- 58:42That's the entire essence of a guilty pleasure.
- 58:45That's why. That's why I feels guilty, yeah.
- 58:48But we love our guy Murray, so we'll let it slide.
- 58:52You go first. What's a guilty pleasure that's
- 58:58kind of embarrassing? I feel like I just, I love some
- 59:11good. I mean, it depends on the time
- 59:13of year, but I feel like I love some good female pop music, you
- 59:16know? Whoa.
- 59:18Like I like a gloves are off. I like AI, like a good, I like a
- 59:23good run through a Miley Cyrus album.
- 59:27Oh sure, shout out Hannah Montana.
- 59:30I'm bored with that. But shout out Hannah Montana.
- 59:34I mean, Miley Cyrus runs laps around Taylor Swift lyric
- 59:38vocally. Taylor Swift is the worst.
- 59:40Yeah, I think if. You're just somewhat clear.
- 59:42Let's face it, if you're blasting something in the car
- 59:46and if you need to turn it down when you get to the stop light
- 59:50because you're going to feel embarrassed, yeah, I think that
- 59:54checks that box. Then if that, yeah, that that's
- 59:57a great threshold and I would absolutely say that that is in
- 1:00:00fact the case. So yeah, that's that's my that
- 1:00:02that'd be my answer. JB, you got one.
- 1:00:07No, I don't. I'm still thinking all.
- 1:00:10Right. I know Josh has one.
- 1:00:13I'll soak up any kind of reality TV with my wife.
- 1:00:18Love it all dude. Love it all.
- 1:00:20Bachelor. Bachelorette.
- 1:00:22No. So good, dude.
- 1:00:24You're not in. Tell me you're not in the Love
- 1:00:26Island and all that, are you? Watch that one.
- 1:00:28I don't think she likes that one that much, but we're watching
- 1:00:30Owning Manhattan right now. That like real estate one.
- 1:00:33That one's good. It's good stuff, it's good TV.
- 1:00:38So you into like the romance type reality TV or just.
- 1:00:42No. The concept of reality TV.
- 1:00:44Yeah, I just love the drama and the fighting, the yelling at it
- 1:00:47so. You would say it so you're.
- 1:00:49Crying over like nothing. It's so good.
- 1:00:53So like a survivor even like that kind of you're just saying
- 1:00:56reality TV in general, not specifically like the trauma you
- 1:01:00like. Yeah, it don't matter what it
- 1:01:02is, I put it on it. I feel you.
- 1:01:05Yeah, I don't think I knew that about you, but.
- 1:01:11That's why, yeah, that's literally what I was just
- 1:01:13watching for. I got here to record owning
- 1:01:16Manhattan. Is that what you?
- 1:01:17That's that's what hypes you up. You get get in the zone, flip on
- 1:01:22a little reality TV. Let's go talk some ball.
- 1:01:24Yeah, I don't even fight it anymore.
- 1:01:25At first I was like, oh this is so stupid.
- 1:01:29Then you walk out of the room and then a week later you're
- 1:01:32you're stopping behind the couch where she kids see you watching.
- 1:01:35Here's what happened is that she's a big let's throw it on in
- 1:01:40the background while we do other stuff.
- 1:01:42I personally can't really do that with anything.
- 1:01:44I can kind of do it with sports because I know what's going on.
- 1:01:49But when I started getting to the point of like pausing, if I
- 1:01:54had to go, you know, I mean like, take the trash out.
- 1:01:57You're in too deep at that point.
- 1:01:58We gotta sit on this for. A second that's.
- 1:02:01I'm gonna take the trash. I'll be right back.
- 1:02:03Don't hit play. That's a no disrespect.
- 1:02:06I love my wife that have we talked about this.
- 1:02:09She does the thing where she'll get up.
- 1:02:12I mean, I, I do it too, but it's typically with stuff that I
- 1:02:15don't. No, no, no.
- 1:02:16Oh, that's what it was. That's what made me think of it.
- 1:02:18No, this is something different. She does this thing and again, I
- 1:02:21do it too, but it's typically with stuff that I, I don't mind
- 1:02:25missing. But if it's like a show we're
- 1:02:26really into or like a movie or whatever, she'll get up, go, you
- 1:02:30know, get some out of the kitchen, go to the bathroom,
- 1:02:32whatever. She's like.
- 1:02:32You don't have to pause it for me.
- 1:02:34No, no, no. And she's like, I can hear it.
- 1:02:36She'll be, she'll literally be in the kitchen.
- 1:02:38She'll say I, well, I can hear it.
- 1:02:39And I said we're not listening to a podcast, we're watching the
- 1:02:45show. So I'll pause it and not worry
- 1:02:51about the extra 12 seconds that we're tacking on to this
- 1:02:55experience. Like we're not saving any
- 1:02:57substantial time. It's over.
- 1:02:59Exactly. It's a mess.
- 1:03:01Yeah. I don't like I it.
- 1:03:05It pisses me off when we sit down to eat and we're when we
- 1:03:10put on like whatever we're watching, but she'll like take
- 1:03:1515 seconds before she looks up. I hate it.
- 1:03:19And I'm like, what? You can't, you can't get your
- 1:03:23eyes up there. What do we we know what's in the
- 1:03:25plate. Like we just look up.
- 1:03:28So that, that pissed me off a little bit, yeah.
- 1:03:30Like 6 pivotal scenes passed by before they look back up and I'm
- 1:03:35like dude. It's kind of like that, that
- 1:03:37trend you've seen the trend where like the wives try to eat
- 1:03:39at the husband's pace, but the husband's try to eat at the
- 1:03:42wives pace and the husband's like, yeah, like let's go.
- 1:03:45She's holding his burger, taking one bite and 90 seconds.
- 1:03:49Like can we go? It's kind of what it's like.
- 1:03:52It's like, yeah, but get your eyes up, babe.
- 1:03:55Come on. Yeah, any who's good Question of
- 1:04:01the week, Solid question of the week.
- 1:04:05Josh, you got anything? I, I don't think I do.
- 1:04:08I mean, we all have, right? But I can't think of anything.
- 1:04:12All good, we'll find it. We'll find it.
- 1:04:14We'll start. We'll start peeling back the
- 1:04:17layers of of Josh the the longer he sticks around.
- 1:04:20We'll get to know Josh a little better.
- 1:04:22Josh will get to know us a little bit better.
- 1:04:24The fact that Josh had no clue I was ripping him about the
- 1:04:27Pirates earlier was slightly alarming, but it's fine.
- 1:04:30It's part of the growing pain we're.
- 1:04:32Fine. Part of the growing pains,
- 1:04:34we'll, we'll, we'll get better with it.
- 1:04:36But anyway, that was. Great question of the week.
- 1:04:42Let's close it out with some trivia here.
- 1:04:45Josh. Josh seemed pretty excited about
- 1:04:48this one. He he thinks he he did preface
- 1:04:50this by saying that it feels like we can really bring this
- 1:04:55one home. So I'm.
- 1:04:55Confident in you guys. I'm excited.
- 1:04:57I am. I'm not.
- 1:04:58I'm excited, I'm confident before I before I do though.
- 1:05:02Nate last 10 years. Average age of MVP winners
- 1:05:0728.05, the oldest being Goldschmidt at 34.
- 1:05:14The youngest was Trout and Bryant in in 2016.
- 1:05:17They were both 24 years old. Yeah, let's stop.
- 1:05:21Let's stop acting like, you know 28. 29 but I mean, you got 2020,
- 1:05:27so take that way as you will, but 33 Jose Abreu 30 Aaron Judge
- 1:05:33was 30. Aaron Judge was 33.
- 1:05:37Showhaze 30, Judge was 32. Also because Judge keeps winning
- 1:05:41it. So yeah, they're certainly not.
- 1:05:44Freddy was 30 when he won it. Yeah, see.
- 1:05:48Oh, I'm sorry. Bellinger was the youngest 23.
- 1:05:51Yeah, so let's stop pretending like baseball players that are
- 1:05:5430 years old are on the doorstep of death.
- 1:05:56Please. Can we just enjoy, can we just
- 1:06:00enjoy these players for, for where they're at in their
- 1:06:03careers and, and just be done with it?
- 1:06:05Unbelievable name. Doorstep to death.
- 1:06:09Judge is a really good example too, because the taller guys
- 1:06:12usually age faster right? The knees and.
- 1:06:15Judge is going to age terribly. Yeah, but I mean, he's 33 and
- 1:06:19that might have been, I mean, that season was incredible.
- 1:06:24I heard that. I heard that it.
- 1:06:25Pisses me off so much. He's just triggering.
- 1:06:30He's just triggering us. All right, listen, Pete Alonzo
- 1:06:34keeping it. Keeping it.
- 1:06:36Peter based here. Pete Alonzo, 264 home runs with
- 1:06:42the Mets. That is the franchise leader.
- 1:06:46OK. Oh.
- 1:06:46Boy, I see. 31 years old franchise leader, actually
- 1:06:50pretty young. There's some pretty young guys.
- 1:06:54OK, So listen, here's what we're going to do.
- 1:06:58We are pitting you guys against each other today.
- 1:07:01You get 3 strikes and you're out.
- 1:07:03We're going to see how many you can name.
- 1:07:04We're going to alternate. We're going to alternate 3
- 1:07:07strikes and you're out. Just think of like, think of
- 1:07:10your safe bets first, OK? I will say you're going to
- 1:07:14alternate turns. Whoever has the highest total
- 1:07:17wins, by the way, the ones you don't guess those are my points.
- 1:07:22So whatever's left on the board, that's I could win this thing.
- 1:07:26Just saying there are. Josh, there are win this thing,
- 1:07:28he won't even open his mouth and he could win.
- 1:07:30This thing that's right, there are, Yeah, I, I, I am confident
- 1:07:34in you. There are some you should not
- 1:07:36overthink, OK? I'm confident.
- 1:07:39Here's the thing. There are four players.
- 1:07:41We've already, so there's 29 answers because we've already
- 1:07:43said Alonzo's one for the Mets, right?
- 1:07:47There are four players, three more who are actually still
- 1:07:51active. But guys, the softballs first
- 1:07:57start off good. Hold on, hold on what?
- 1:07:59Hold on, what are what are we trying to figure out here?
- 1:08:03Franchise leaders in home runs? Sorry, did I?
- 1:08:05Did I actually bury that and not say it?
- 1:08:08No. Are are we talking, are we
- 1:08:10talking Mets here though? Or we.
- 1:08:12No, I'm sorry. This, that's my fault.
- 1:08:14That's my fault. There are 30 teams.
- 1:08:16I did not say the actual main point here.
- 1:08:18We're talking and. I just.
- 1:08:20Nate says. I didn't.
- 1:08:21I believe I didn't. I was trying to talk my way
- 1:08:23through that, I'm sure. I never listened in half the
- 1:08:25time anyway. It's fine.
- 1:08:26It's fine either way. Either way.
- 1:08:28Franchise leaders in home runs. OK, so each team's franchise
- 1:08:33leader in home runs. That's what we're Yeah.
- 1:08:36And you're saying 4/4 of them are active?
- 1:08:38Four of them are active along of one of them.
- 1:08:41OK, right. So we already have Mets and
- 1:08:43Alonzo out of here. Nobody gets that point.
- 1:08:45There are 29 answers on the board.
- 1:08:48And how are we going to? I'm going to write a number down
- 1:08:51here between 1:00 and let's go 1 and 10, and I need both of you
- 1:09:00to say that number at the same time.
- 1:09:02Actually, you don't have to because I got it written down.
- 1:09:05Just throw throw a number out there.
- 1:09:07What do you got? You go, guy, you go.
- 1:09:11You I'm a go 8 August 7. The number was 5.
- 1:09:16What a loser move. So Nate.
- 1:09:19Nate gets to go. I actually, I mean, yeah, you
- 1:09:21want to go. First I thought you were going
- 1:09:22to, I thought you were going to really just, you know, stick
- 1:09:26with the theme here, but whatever.
- 1:09:29OK. So franchise leaders and three
- 1:09:35more are still active or four more are still active.
- 1:09:37Three more are still active. Kind of want to get those out of
- 1:09:42the way. You might want to just go
- 1:09:46softballs first. Not that they're hard, but like
- 1:09:51there are some that are really easy.
- 1:09:55All right, well, I'll just, I'll do Babe Ruth then.
- 1:09:58There you go. See.
- 1:09:59OK, on the board, Ding. OK, I'll do Hammer and Hank.
- 1:10:06Yeah, should. Should we name the team too?
- 1:10:09I mean, these ones are easy, right?
- 1:10:10But. Is it going to take 3 hours?
- 1:10:12It it really won't. I I you're going to be
- 1:10:14surprised. Can we just do the names?
- 1:10:16OK, OK, I forget who. If you say the names, you know
- 1:10:21the team anyway, but. It's fine.
- 1:10:23Yeah, let's go Or no, it's your turn.
- 1:10:26We're just we're just naking this.
- 1:10:28We can go for it. I'm blanking, no.
- 1:10:38I just, yeah, this is actually really hard.
- 1:10:41I think I'm. Going to go an active one.
- 1:10:45I'm going to go risk it. I'm going to risk it.
- 1:10:47We're alternating. You're not going to say this
- 1:10:50name? Go for it.
- 1:10:52I'm going to go an active name. Oh, but does that, are we
- 1:10:57talking like when a franchise moves?
- 1:11:02Yeah, all that counts. Oh, oh, I don't like that then.
- 1:11:07Yeah, OK. This is going to take 3.
- 1:11:10Days it's possible. It's possible.
- 1:11:13I I just go. I don't want.
- 1:11:20To this is not the hard part of the game.
- 1:11:23Everybody listen. Everybody listening and watching
- 1:11:25are yelling. Names.
- 1:11:26That's what I'm saying A. Lot of pressure.
- 1:11:29You've given 1 answer. Yeah.
- 1:11:35There's some real, real softballs out there.
- 1:11:39How about how about Willie Stardrill?
- 1:11:45There you go. That's actually, that's a good
- 1:11:47one. I mean, that's that's a that's a
- 1:11:49good answer. But like of all of the answers
- 1:11:52you could have given. You're like, let me go, let me
- 1:11:54go. Active.
- 1:11:54Let me take a stand. Really good one.
- 1:11:56And then Josh. The franchise moving thing,
- 1:11:58that. Hey, also also Willie Stardrill
- 1:12:00who won an MVP at 39 years old. Let's go.
- 1:12:04Shout him out. Go pirates.
- 1:12:08How about Gimme Ted Williams? There you go.
- 1:12:13He had. Yeah, let's hear it.
- 1:12:19Do you have 521? Dead on I.
- 1:12:23Mean. How many home runs did Willie
- 1:12:25Sargel have, Nate? Obviously he had 49.
- 1:12:31Oh. That was so close 475 that.
- 1:12:35Was obviously. The fact that you pulled Willie
- 1:12:38Stardroe out of #2 I'm actually, I'm actually really impressed.
- 1:12:42Thank you. There are some much easier ones.
- 1:12:49I don't know, just pick. Pick a team first.
- 1:12:52Yeah, it's your turn. Pick it one first.
- 1:12:54Like the alternating thing. I just want to let him RIP.
- 1:12:58Yeah, yeah, I'm queued up, man. I got them.
- 1:13:01I Barry Bonds. No strike, strike, strike.
- 1:13:09Well. Not enough time in San Fran, I
- 1:13:12guess. Yeah, well, there was also
- 1:13:15somebody in San Francisco that had a lot of home runs there in
- 1:13:18his entire career. Yeah, I'm going to go Willie
- 1:13:21Mays there. You.
- 1:13:24Go hey, hey, you're 7 to my 8. I was going to pick that.
- 1:13:33That's my number anyway, so. I just thought you were going to
- 1:13:36go 2 because I want 8. Still would have won.
- 1:13:43Actually, that would have been tough.
- 1:13:44Unless. I know, but it would have been,
- 1:13:45it would have been a closer race, you know?
- 1:13:47I want prices right bro I want. I get it, I know.
- 1:13:51Tactics. Oh, trying to think of teams
- 1:13:57can't even trivia comes. It's just it's a.
- 1:14:02What was the what was the the caveat on the franchise's moving
- 1:14:07thing? Where did we land on that said?
- 1:14:09Yeah, it is. It is entire franchise.
- 1:14:11So you know, you're obviously thinking Milwaukee, Atlanta
- 1:14:14Braves, right? You're doing Montreal,
- 1:14:16Washington. OK, gotcha, gotcha.
- 1:14:18OK, we're good. And, and obviously Willie Mays,
- 1:14:21right. So we got New York, San
- 1:14:22Francisco, New York, LA Yeah. Yep, Yep.
- 1:14:30Mm. Hmm.
- 1:14:32Mm hmm. Griffey for Seattle.
- 1:14:35Yeah, yeah, yeah, there it is. See that that was one where I
- 1:14:38was like, we kind of got to know the team a little bit.
- 1:14:41Yeah. Give me Frank Thomas.
- 1:14:46That's right. Very good.
- 1:14:48Thank you. How many home runs?
- 1:14:51No idea. He he got he, he reached a 500
- 1:14:55club, didn't he? I don't think he did.
- 1:14:57No 448, at least with the White Sox.
- 1:14:59I mean, he tacked on a few with with somebody else, right?
- 1:15:02But not enough Oakland. Then what did he finish with?
- 1:15:06I could have sworn he got 4. 48 I mean it.
- 1:15:08Oh, that was his. That was his.
- 1:15:10Career Sox number. That was his White Sox number.
- 1:15:13So I don't, I don't know that he hit that much more. 5/21. 520.
- 1:15:16One y'all are crazy. What he how did he just go to
- 1:15:19Oakland? No, he was with Toronto, Oh.
- 1:15:25That's right. See how you talking Toronto?
- 1:15:27Am I the only guy on here that knows ball?
- 1:15:30Shut up. That sounds like it.
- 1:15:31That OK Ball know her. Your next answer is the guy for
- 1:15:35Toronto then. Nate's up.
- 1:15:40Nate. Nate is up right now.
- 1:15:41One strike, Nate. Thinking, I'm thinking, guys,
- 1:15:45just thinking about it. Sammy Sosa.
- 1:15:55Yeah. 5:45 with with the Cubs. Give me, give me, give me Eddie
- 1:16:05Murray. To go pull.
- 1:16:07I did think about it. What?
- 1:16:09Team are you thinking? What team are you thinking?
- 1:16:11The Orioles, I mean, I yeah, but but missed out.
- 1:16:16Somebody had 431 with the Orioles each have one strike
- 1:16:23that. Was dumb.
- 1:16:26Yeah, I mean, it's Eddie Murray. Spent some years, you know what
- 1:16:30I mean? Somewhere else where it kind of
- 1:16:32racks some of those up. I.
- 1:16:34Gotcha. Cleveland and you know.
- 1:16:43Jim, tell me. Yeah, Jim, tell me.
- 1:16:46Suck. I was going to go that one.
- 1:16:49One more and I'm out. One more and you guys have beat
- 1:16:51me already. I told you I I have more
- 1:16:53confidence. I think you guys weren't as
- 1:16:54confident. Let's go try this one on for
- 1:17:01size. Give me, give me Frank Howard.
- 1:17:10No, no, it's fine. I was already an out.
- 1:17:15What team? For the the Washington.
- 1:17:20Senator. Slash Senators, slash Rangers,
- 1:17:27right, Washington. Or is that Minnesota?
- 1:17:30Who is that actually? Because there's, there's been
- 1:17:32three teams, right? It was the senators.
- 1:17:39Then was it Minnesota? Then to Texas?
- 1:17:43I don't know that I remember. I think that's maybe where I'm
- 1:17:45getting a little bit confused. Yeah.
- 1:17:47Washington Senators, Nationals, Senators, Twins and the Texas
- 1:17:54Rangers were the second Washington Senators, then went
- 1:17:57to Texas, then the Nationals. The act the today's Nationals
- 1:18:01are the third team in Washington.
- 1:18:04All in all, wrong answer. Wrong answer.
- 1:18:06I yeah, I don't know which one of those Washington teams he
- 1:18:09played for, but it's not one that had the most number runs.
- 1:18:15How many? So wait, is that finish up with
- 1:18:18strike two there? Unfortunately.
- 1:18:21Yeah, that's strike two. I I I would just say that you
- 1:18:24probably were overthinking that one.
- 1:18:27You finished with 382? OK, not a bad step.
- 1:18:30And that's, and that's for what franchise?
- 1:18:37Washington for the Centers. Yeah, but which?
- 1:18:42Which did that end up? Oh, I don't know.
- 1:18:44This would have been this was 65 to 71, so whoever.
- 1:18:47Whichever. Version of that was not
- 1:18:50important. Nate, you're up.
- 1:19:00Trying to make sure we're not missing any more easier ones.
- 1:19:04Can we go, George Brett? George Brett, that's 62 ahead.
- 1:19:16Give me. Two strikes, I think at 2
- 1:19:26strikes, do you want me to give you a team that I think that I
- 1:19:28know you can get? Is that when we get to 2
- 1:19:33strikes, do we want to do something like that?
- 1:19:35No. OK, Noted.
- 1:19:41I. Was going to try to say more
- 1:19:42politely. Let me can you think of a team?
- 1:19:54Think of a team, think of a team.
- 1:19:57Can I go ahead, and I mean, I feel like this is a softball,
- 1:20:03but I hope I'm not overthinking this.
- 1:20:04Can I go ahead and say Albert Pools?
- 1:20:06Oh. Gosh, not a softball Strike
- 1:20:11three. Not the right answer.
- 1:20:13What do you got, Nate? Rattle them.
- 1:20:14Off. No, I'm out.
- 1:20:15But let me get my Let me get my redemption.
- 1:20:20Steal my possible answers. Let me get my.
- 1:20:22You're not going to get this. Was it Sam usual?
- 1:20:25It was Sam usual. I freaking knew it.
- 1:20:28What an idiot. I wouldn't have considered that
- 1:20:30one a softball because that is one of the tricky ones because a
- 1:20:34lot would think pool holes. But yeah, stay in the man.
- 1:20:38Should have known. What a shame.
- 1:20:40Do you got Nate? You only got one strike right
- 1:20:42now. And you know, at this point,
- 1:20:44actually, yeah, I think I'm still out.
- 1:20:48But I no, actually I'm not because you have still have 6.
- 1:20:54I still have more than that leftover.
- 1:20:56Can I be out? But can I just play for the love
- 1:20:58of the game? It depends when Nate's done.
- 1:21:02Thanks, Nate. I was between two names for the
- 1:21:06Diamondbacks. Oh, that's a tough one.
- 1:21:10And no, it's not. I think I'm going to say.
- 1:21:15Go with your gut. Same time, same time.
- 1:21:17Count it down, say it the same time.
- 1:21:19What do you my? Gut.
- 1:21:20Go with your gut. Say it the same time.
- 1:21:22Don't like it? Now you have to count it down.
- 1:21:23Don't like? It don't over think it.
- 1:21:25Here we go. Count it down three no. 2
- 1:21:27Because he said it was tough. He said it was tough.
- 1:21:29I'm not going to say it. I'm not going to.
- 1:21:30Say it. Hey, I told Jake earlier it was
- 1:21:32tough and he got it on the first try.
- 1:21:33Maybe it's tough for a Never mind.
- 1:21:36Maybe it's just tough for me. As I say, maybe a die hard
- 1:21:39Pirates fan doesn't doesn't venture out West mentally as
- 1:21:42much. Well, they're a young team.
- 1:21:43I think that's what's that's what I'm saying, yeah.
- 1:21:45Count it down. That's why there's only so many
- 1:21:47guys to choose from. I don't over think this.
- 1:21:49I don't I don't feel that good about.
- 1:21:51It I wanna hear it I wanna. Hear it you.
- 1:21:52You have the right answer, I promise you.
- 1:21:54Here we go. Count it down three.
- 1:21:55I don't think I do 321 Martin Luis Gonzalez.
- 1:22:01Oh, what did you say, Luis? Gonzalez.
- 1:22:04Mark Grace. Mark Grace.
- 1:22:07It's even high on there, not that.
- 1:22:09High lead the team in home runs any years.
- 1:22:12I don't know. It's Louise Gonzalez 224.
- 1:22:16Come on. Goldschmidt 209 is next, but I
- 1:22:20am going to find out. I thought Goldie was close Mark.
- 1:22:23Grace Mark Grace is close. He's ranked 55 with 25 home
- 1:22:27runs. Shoot, I was just trying to
- 1:22:29think of. Somebody that's old, you're only
- 1:22:30200. For a minute.
- 1:22:32He had 25 home runs with. The 25 home runs with the.
- 1:22:36That's not his game, you know, That's not his game.
- 1:22:39He's more of a bunt. He he played more of a line to
- 1:22:41line guy. Hey, he played three years
- 1:22:43there. He was 3738 and 39 years.
- 1:22:46Old things just aren't in the toolbox.
- 1:22:48That ain't it. That's.
- 1:22:49Only strike two for Nate, It's only strike two for Nate, and
- 1:22:52I'm going to give Kyle that point.
- 1:22:54No, I'm just playing for the love of the game.
- 1:22:56I don't. Need to point it, but he's still
- 1:22:57you're still beating him so I I'm going to give him that point
- 1:23:00he. You got to, you got to admire my
- 1:23:02confidence that I went at the end of that though.
- 1:23:04OK, so the teams, the teams left here, we didn't say Baltimore
- 1:23:08after he after he guessed Eddie Murray.
- 1:23:09So do you have Baltimore's guy? Is it Cal?
- 1:23:17I don't know. There's no way Cal finished.
- 1:23:20Oh, but that we're talking team specific here.
- 1:23:22We're talking team specific and you're talking longevity.
- 1:23:24So it is Cal. It is Cal.
- 1:23:26Yeah, Yeah, it is Cal. We did not name Cincinnati.
- 1:23:30Another guy that probably you would think longevity.
- 1:23:34Sean Casey. But also no.
- 1:23:36But also he had a lot of home runs.
- 1:23:38Not, not Casey. Madam, Done.
- 1:23:44Now, I still think longevity. Thank you guy that was there for
- 1:23:47a long time, you know. Not John Casey.
- 1:23:50Very long. You got to go a little further
- 1:23:52back, little further back. We've talked about him recently
- 1:23:56because of Cal Raleigh's efforts.
- 1:24:02Oh, Johnny Bench. Johnny Bench got it.
- 1:24:04We did. Cleveland, Colorado.
- 1:24:06I was surprised nobody went for Colorado.
- 1:24:09Yeah. Todd Helton.
- 1:24:10I thought you would throw that one out there.
- 1:24:11Detroit, a little bit older. One guy, One guy more recent
- 1:24:20that I that I probably would have had a hard time not.
- 1:24:24Bobby Higginson. No, no, a little more
- 1:24:27optimistic, a little more obvious than that.
- 1:24:30Did not play with the Detroit Tigers.
- 1:24:32Relax. What did I say?
- 1:24:37This is going to go on for three days.
- 1:24:38Yeah, no, I mean, we're almost there.
- 1:24:40You guys got most of them Alcaline.
- 1:24:46That's what I was thinking of when I said Ralph Kind.
- 1:24:48Of yeah, yeah, yeah, a bit, a bit.
- 1:24:50Well, I mean, there is, there is.
- 1:24:52Jeff Bagwell got that for Houston.
- 1:24:54We got George Brett LA OK, so here's one of our he's ripping.
- 1:24:58He's one of our guys, LA Angels. Angels.
- 1:25:02Mike Trout. Mike Trout, that's one of our
- 1:25:04current players. Boom.
- 1:25:06How many of the current guys we have Trout?
- 1:25:07So we have Trout and and Alonzo now.
- 1:25:10And there's two more. There is two more.
- 1:25:14OK, so one of them is going to be really hard.
- 1:25:16Sal Perez, Dodgers. Let's do Dodgers.
- 1:25:18Sal Perez. We already said George Brett.
- 1:25:20All right, all right. Get out of.
- 1:25:21Relax, Relax, Mark Grace. I won, I won.
- 1:25:26Mark Grace is. You almost you didn't win.
- 1:25:29You just outlasted me. That's that's.
- 1:25:31One get one docks for Mark Grace, that's for sure.
- 1:25:33Yeah, you're gonna get 6. Points docked for Mark Grace.
- 1:25:37Whatever name like. He was. 4 You should get
- 1:25:39Washington Center. You should get 6.
- 1:25:41Points docked, which is ironically as many home runs as
- 1:25:44Mark Grace had with the Diamondbacks.
- 1:25:46Is Odgers. My hint would be talking
- 1:25:55baseball, the old song. Oh, I, I think I know what he's
- 1:26:04talking about. Duke Snyder.
- 1:26:12There it is. I was about to sing.
- 1:26:15I was about to sing. I was, I was singing it in my
- 1:26:17head. So Mickey and the Duke.
- 1:26:20Yes, the Marlins. Gary Sheffield, who said
- 1:26:26Stanton. Stanton.
- 1:26:28So Stanton, that's another active player and one of the
- 1:26:31interesting ones, because next. Year can I throw my name out
- 1:26:36that I initially thought, but I the I got thrown when the
- 1:26:39franchise thing came up. I was going to say Bryce Harper
- 1:26:42for the for the Nationals. Right.
- 1:26:46Well, we'll get there. They are the last team, but
- 1:26:48we'll go ahead and skip there because this guy that lead leads
- 1:26:52that leads that organization played his career in Washington
- 1:26:57and it's not Bryce Harper. Ryan Zimmerman.
- 1:27:01Yeah, Ryan Zimmerman, 284 home runs, franchise league.
- 1:27:06Oh. Duh, I was going to say Vladdy.
- 1:27:09So he's he's 2 on the list because of the Montreal years,
- 1:27:12you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:27:14Dad bloody. All right, So Giancarlo standing
- 1:27:18seven years in Miami or I'm sorry, eight years in Miami,
- 1:27:22eight years in New York. So he's now going to flip this
- 1:27:25next year to play more seasons with the Yankees, but still have
- 1:27:29the franchise lead in Miami. That's happened.
- 1:27:33That's happened a couple times. I don't think we ever named the
- 1:27:35rays. Well, we're we're alphabetical
- 1:27:38order here. We got to do Milwaukee first.
- 1:27:40He's a cheater and a liar, Ryan. Braun.
- 1:27:42There we go, Minnesota. That sounded personal when he
- 1:27:48said. Well, cheater.
- 1:27:50And a liar. Yeah, that's kind of aggressive.
- 1:27:53He's on my list, guys, yeah. As if.
- 1:27:57As if the Brewers were the final hurdle for the Pirates.
- 1:28:01Well, hey, I'm a baseball fan too, you know what I mean?
- 1:28:04I I got. But also, the Pirates could not
- 1:28:06even win the Pirates. They could not win in Milwaukee.
- 1:28:11All of my all of my pirates slander is is purely
- 1:28:16well-intentioned. I've got a bunch of family up in
- 1:28:19Pennsylvania. They love the they love the
- 1:28:21pirates. That's right, We should meet up.
- 1:28:23We should meet up and go to PNC. Let's.
- 1:28:25Do it. Let's do it.
- 1:28:26It's a beautiful part, Katie. Now we're talking about South
- 1:28:29Minnesota's up. Now, this one's an older one,
- 1:28:33but but it's, it's a name, you know, broad crew, not a home run
- 1:28:38hitter. Yeah, kind of guy.
- 1:28:40So just older Harmon Killebru. Keep going.
- 1:28:42There it is. There it is.
- 1:28:44Boom. Pete Alonzo with the Mets,
- 1:28:46that's the other guy who you know, is, is active there.
- 1:28:49We did Babe Ruth. How about Oakland?
- 1:28:52Jose Canseco. 363 Hundred Mark McGuire.
- 1:28:55Mark McGuire. The Bash Bros.
- 1:28:57Yeah, that would have been one where if you said McGuire would
- 1:28:59have been like, what team you thinking?
- 1:29:00Well, cuz, did you say no? You said pool halls.
- 1:29:02That's right. Yeah, you said pools,
- 1:29:05Philadelphia. Philly.
- 1:29:20Oh, Mike Schmidt. There it is.
- 1:29:23Mike Schmidt. We got Willie Stargel.
- 1:29:24We're going to skip a a few here.
- 1:29:26Did we do San Francisco? Yeah, Yeah, we did.
- 1:29:28We did. We did Maze.
- 1:29:30We did. Griffey left the team at 30
- 1:29:33years old. That's one of my notes.
- 1:29:35Stanton with Miami left the team at 28 years old.
- 1:29:41So I just think those are interesting.
- 1:29:42Like you played there you were. You had still a large chunk of
- 1:29:46your career somewhere else, still a franchise leader.
- 1:29:50Tampa Bay. Evan Longoria.
- 1:29:53Evan Longoria and Toronto Blue Jays.
- 1:29:57Carlos Delgado. Carlos Delgado.
- 1:29:59Now here's here's a couple hard ones.
- 1:30:01Now let's go back to Texas. It's not your guy.
- 1:30:06Adrian Beltre, it's. Not him, Michael.
- 1:30:09This one. This one is tough.
- 1:30:13Michael Young, not it. But that's the longevity card,
- 1:30:16right? Gary Matthews.
- 1:30:20That might be a 25. Josh Hamilton?
- 1:30:22No, he wasn't Palmero. Oh, see, he's getting closer.
- 1:30:25That's a good guess. That's a good.
- 1:30:26Guess Palmero's second he played with this guy.
- 1:30:28Hank Blaylock. I'm sorry, cut out for a second.
- 1:30:33I'm going to. I didn't hear that.
- 1:30:35Oh, you heard me, I said. Hank Blaylock, Gangster name All
- 1:30:38Star Game. All Star Game Legend.
- 1:30:41Played played with Raffi Palmero in Texas.
- 1:30:45I mean, big dudes too. That's that's physically.
- 1:30:50Or just yeah, like those status. Muscular, you know what I'm
- 1:30:54saying? Like just monsters.
- 1:30:57I always felt like that anyway. We're we're kidding.
- 1:30:59What are we missing? That's a tough one.
- 1:31:01This is a tough one. He was traded at 30.
- 1:31:10He was the he was the team lead with 340 home runs.
- 1:31:13Came back two years later, tacked on some more, ended with
- 1:31:17372. Just thinking of those.
- 1:31:23Where's that Nolan Ryan picture you got right behind you.
- 1:31:25Thinking of those jerseys right there.
- 1:31:28Oh, Oh my goodness. I can.
- 1:31:34See it? I can see it.
- 1:31:37Hands up high. Juan Gonzalez.
- 1:31:39Juan Gonzalez, there it is. That's a tough one.
- 1:31:41That one surprised me. I won't.
- 1:31:43I don't think that that was one that I wouldn't think of the
- 1:31:46last team we got to get to me. I think it actually really
- 1:31:49surprised me. The San Diego Padres, and maybe
- 1:31:53you guys already know this, but. Oh, Gonzales.
- 1:31:58No, this is I I remember I saw this this year on some graphic
- 1:32:05because Machado was climbing the charts and it was no disrespect.
- 1:32:09It was some just like who is this kind of thing right Josh?
- 1:32:17Am I crazy? Team up now just to see who's on
- 1:32:21the list and it's. Not a It's not a household name,
- 1:32:23I know that. Yeah, not a household name, but
- 1:32:26that not a household name is is 1 ahead of Adrian Gonzalez.
- 1:32:31Two of them runs ahead of Adrian Gonzalez.
- 1:32:33He is in second. How many?
- 1:32:35How many? Where's Machado on the franchise
- 1:32:37list? You tell me.
- 1:32:41I don't know he's climbing the charts because that's why I saw
- 1:32:43the graphic. Nate.
- 1:32:46I don't know. Third, you're.
- 1:32:47Not picking up on the faces I'm making.
- 1:32:51I can't tell you where Machado is.
- 1:32:53What's? Happening.
- 1:32:57Because he's not on the list. He's on the list.
- 1:33:02Oh, is it Machado? That's.
- 1:33:04What I'm talking about That surprised me.
- 1:33:06He's number one on the list. Oh, so OK, so that wait, so then
- 1:33:10who's 2? So the guy you're talking about
- 1:33:13is Nate Kolbert? Yes, that is the guy I heard
- 1:33:17that I was like who? 1969 to 1974.
- 1:33:20So yes, Manny Machado is the franchise leader in home runs in
- 1:33:24San Diego. Blew my mind.
- 1:33:26That's right. And.
- 1:33:27Apparently yours this year. I couldn't tell you where he
- 1:33:29was. That happened last year.
- 1:33:30Yeah, well, you threw me when? Yeah.
- 1:33:32Yeah, it did. It happened at the end of last
- 1:33:34year because I also looked that up because he spent seven years
- 1:33:37in Baltimore and in six years in San Diego, he set their
- 1:33:41franchise record. So he's now even 7:00 and 7:00.
- 1:33:44But that adds to the list of those guys who had a franchise
- 1:33:47record at one point and played more seasons with another team.
- 1:33:50So that that was just, I found that interesting too.
- 1:33:52Sorry, I, you know how I am. I get caught up on these weird
- 1:33:55details. Manny Machado is the franchise
- 1:33:58leader in home runs for the San Diego Padres, and he's still
- 1:34:01playing there. That's.
- 1:34:03Crazy. I feel like Adrian Gonzalez.
- 1:34:04Is there a? Wide Adrian Gonzalez, 161 Home
- 1:34:07runs Machado is now at 194. They moved the fences in.
- 1:34:11Yeah, that's true. It was really.
- 1:34:12Yeah, there's huge, and Adrian Gonzalez was not.
- 1:34:17How many years did he really hit a ton of homers too?
- 1:34:19I mean, he was really an all around hitter, wasn't?
- 1:34:23Going longevity, I mean it, yeah.
- 1:34:26Where's, out of curiosity, for not being Homer and hitter,
- 1:34:28where was Tony Gwynn on? That list, well, I'm I'm wrong
- 1:34:31though. 303640 homers, 31 homers.
- 1:34:34It was later in his career when he really after he was 28, he
- 1:34:37never got back to 30. Those old ancient guys, you know
- 1:34:41how it goes. Yeah, exactly right.
- 1:34:43That didn't help. That didn't help our case on the
- 1:34:45show today. Fernando Tatis is number six
- 1:34:49with 152 Tony Gwynn behind him, 135 Will Myers, Ryan Klesko all
- 1:34:57in the top ten man Dave Winfield.
- 1:35:03Yeah, that Nate Kolbert guy I remember.
- 1:35:05Nate Kolbert. When When Machado.
- 1:35:07Sounds like a guy in in legal. That sounds like my.
- 1:35:11The guy that CC Ed on an e-mail. You're like, who's this?
- 1:35:14That sounds like my neighborhood ice cream truck driver.
- 1:35:16I like I who? Yeah.
- 1:35:19Unbelievable notice. Three time, three time All Star
- 1:35:22Nate Colbert, Padres. Legend Nate Colbert.
- 1:35:24Padres legend six years, six years there in in the Padres
- 1:35:29land. Hey, look, you know, here's the
- 1:35:31here's the reality of it, though.
- 1:35:33I can sit here and say Nate Colbert's not a household name.
- 1:35:36But you know what? How many home runs did you say
- 1:35:38he has? He has 173.
- 1:35:41He has 100 in his career total in his career.
- 1:35:43He has 100, Mark Grace, well, a whole lot more than me.
- 1:35:46He's got Nate Culbert's got 173 more homers than I do.
- 1:35:50That's right. That's right.
- 1:35:52Mark Grace, 173 home runs career.
- 1:35:55That was the nature I thought he was booted I.
- 1:35:58Thought he was a Diamondback for his whole life, I really did.
- 1:36:00He should have Cubs. They should have been booted
- 1:36:04from the call for that guest. That was crazy.
- 1:36:06Yeah, he was Cubs guy for a long time and really just an average
- 1:36:09guy, not really a Homer guy. Yeah, I was going to say Paul
- 1:36:11Goldschmidt, that was, that was the two names I, Luis didn't
- 1:36:15come to, didn't come to mind. Luis Gonzalez got there a year
- 1:36:19after the franchise started and crazy.
- 1:36:21Also a cheater. Three years in his third year,
- 1:36:25hit 57 home runs. Took the franchise lead.
- 1:36:28Never lost it since. Yeah, that's going to be broken,
- 1:36:30you think? Yeah, we're talking Gonzalez.
- 1:36:34Yeah. Yeah, like 224 home runs.
- 1:36:36Like there's some guys there right now who have a shot.
- 1:36:38Katel Marte is not far back on that list, but who knows?
- 1:36:41Tell. Martinez Yeah.
- 1:36:42He's not going to be a Diamondback.
- 1:36:43He won't be there. Right.
- 1:36:44He's not far off. He's like 50.
- 1:36:46Some home runs from that. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:36:50Katel has been if. He does stick around five years
- 1:36:54on the contract, he's got that in the back.
- 1:36:59All right, let's let's wrap up trivia because we have
- 1:37:01officially done trivia longer than we've discussed any major
- 1:37:05event on. This you guys did do better than
- 1:37:07this and I thought, I thought for a while you would go faster
- 1:37:10than that. This is maybe we just convert
- 1:37:13this thing into a full blown trivia trivia podcast.
- 1:37:17I was going to do, I was going to do the first of five and, and
- 1:37:21Jake, I talked to Jake, my brother Jake for those of you
- 1:37:23don't know, and he said they're going to be done with that in 5
- 1:37:26minutes or not even 5 minutes. He said 2 minutes.
- 1:37:29We got there. Stupid.
- 1:37:32So the the total there was Nate 6, Kyle 5.
- 1:37:37Well, I mean, I had like 17, but I was just doing it for the love
- 1:37:41of the game. Well, you'd already had three
- 1:37:42strikes at that. It's.
- 1:37:43Fine, it's fine. Closely.
- 1:37:45Brought up. That means I had 18, so I win
- 1:37:49this one. That sucks.
- 1:37:52That's not how this works. Whatever.
- 1:37:54But great job, guys. No, seriously.
- 1:37:56Like once you went down through the names though, you guys got
- 1:37:58them. I mean, there's a few few you
- 1:38:00missed there, but you got them. Moral of the stories I won.
- 1:38:05Or I won. Moral of this Go home tonight
- 1:38:09and remember winning. Moral of the story is.
- 1:38:13I'm a Red Sox fan. Anyway, let's wrap this thing
- 1:38:16up. Gents.
- 1:38:18That was that was fun. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
- 1:38:22Hopefully some more moves to discuss next week.
- 1:38:25Top can. We make a bet now.
- 1:38:29Yeah, the first Yankees Red Sox series winner of that series.
- 1:38:36If I win, that button goes away. No.
- 1:38:40Yeah, make that bet. Well, what do I have to gain
- 1:38:43from this? Bet.
- 1:38:43I don't know. Think of something you need.
- 1:38:45I need that. Go on.
- 1:38:48I'm a Red Sox fan. Oh my gosh.
- 1:38:50In it here. Wish the cleaners came in and
- 1:38:53ruined this whole thing. That I tell you what, The button
- 1:38:56I'm going to smash The Schlittler's first outing of the
- 1:38:59season. Oh, brother, this guy stinks.
- 1:39:04Any wait? For him to shove it down your
- 1:39:05throat for the next. Decade.
- 1:39:07OK, OK, he'll probably be too busy at the Bruins game.
- 1:39:11Any who's Let's wrap this thing up.
- 1:39:14We'll see you guys next week. Anything else?
- 1:39:20Curveballs. Don't chase them.
- 1:39:21We'll. Have you on as always, looking
- 1:39:23forward to talking more baseball with you guys soon.
- 1:39:24Until next time, stay filthy.
