Latest / The Mark Simone Show / Hour 2: Future of Voter Id.
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Still Mark Simone show contenues WI. It's only Monday, in
- 0:11Speaker 1: a rough week. So far, it's a mess out there.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Just looking out the window, I see more people walking around.
- 0:18Speaker 1: An hour and a half ago, you look out the
- 0:20Speaker 1: window and see maybe one person on a block walking
- 0:23Speaker 1: along the side with Now it's like four or five six,
- 0:26Speaker 1: So people are starting to get out there. A lot
- 0:28Speaker 1: of stuff will be closed today. Check wherever you're going. Restaurants, supermarkets,
- 0:33Speaker 1: a lot of stuff is not open today. Also, it's
- 0:38Speaker 1: gonna it'll all die down. It's gonna end by five
- 0:40Speaker 1: thirty or six. The wind already dying down. The rate
- 0:44Speaker 1: of the snowfall is dramatically down. It was snowing it
- 0:47Speaker 1: like two inches an hour overnight. Now it's snowing at
- 0:49Speaker 1: like zero point two inches an hour. So much better now.
- 0:57Speaker 1: President Trump tomorrow night, big State of the Union speech.
- 1:00Speaker 1: He'll talk about tariffs and how to continue them. He
- 1:02Speaker 1: can keep doing the tariffs. Just as Supreme Court was
- 1:06Speaker 1: not a massive slap down of the tariffs. They basically
- 1:11Speaker 1: said the law you're using to do it is the
- 1:13Speaker 1: wrong one. And they didn't offer any remedy of any kind.
- 1:18Speaker 1: They didn't say you got to return the money or
- 1:21Speaker 1: since they kept it very light, it was a very
- 1:24Speaker 1: light slap on the wrist. It wasn't what the networks
- 1:28Speaker 1: made it out to be. President Trump not happy with
- 1:30Speaker 1: the ruling.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I can destroy the trade. I can destroy it.
- 1:34Speaker 1: What he's talking about here is a lot of people
- 1:37Speaker 1: think the Supreme Court ruling was incorrect, including Justice Kavanaugh,
- 1:40Speaker 1: who probably wrote the smartest opinion on it. He used
- 1:44Speaker 1: this Emergency Powers Act, which allows him to do pretty
- 1:48Speaker 1: much anything when it comes to trade with another country.
- 1:52Speaker 1: He can shut it down altogether. He can do so
- 1:54Speaker 1: many things that, to Kavanaugh's point is it's kind of
- 1:59Speaker 1: crazy to think when they wrote this act they didn't
- 2:03Speaker 1: also mean he could have tariffs. If he could do
- 2:06Speaker 1: the most extreme things, why couldn't he do a light
- 2:08Speaker 1: thing like this. So many believe Kavanaugh was right on this.
- 2:11Speaker 1: The other judges were wrong in order to even That's
- 2:14Speaker 1: what he's talking about here.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I can destroy the trade. I can destroy the country.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I'm even allowed to impose a foreign country destroying embargo.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I can embargo. I can do anything I want, but
- 2:27Speaker 2: I can't charge one dollar.
- 2:30Speaker 1: So that was Kavanaugh's point, and he's probably right. It
- 2:32Speaker 1: was a crazy ruling.
- 2:33Speaker 2: They're just being fools and lapdogs for the Rhinos and
- 2:37Speaker 2: the radical left Democrats, and not that they should have anything.
- 2:42Speaker 1: At all to do with it.
- 2:43Speaker 2: They're very unpatriotic and disloyal to our constitution.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, now, if you're watching the networks, this is unprecedented. Now,
- 2:50Speaker 1: it's not plenty of presidents of attacked a Supreme Court ruling.
- 2:53Speaker 1: But you can't say bad things about the justices, well,
- 2:56Speaker 1: of course you can. You know, it's the king of
- 2:57Speaker 1: that Chuck Schumer. Remember it came to that was some
- 3:00Speaker 1: sort of an abortion room. You remember Schumer out there
- 3:02Speaker 1: at the rally with the megaphone warning Gorshous, you're gonna
- 3:06Speaker 1: get it, You're gonna get yours. We're gonna go after you.
- 3:09Speaker 1: So nobody's been worse at threatening attacking the Supreme Court
- 3:14Speaker 1: justice than Chuck Schumer himself. President Trump just saying he's
- 3:18Speaker 1: disappointed the.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Supreme Court's ruling on tariffs is deeply disappointing, and I'm
- 3:26Speaker 2: ashamed of certain members of the Court, absolutely ashamed for
- 3:31Speaker 2: not having the courage to do what's right for our country.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Why, why this is unprecedented, this kind of response, No
- 3:38Speaker 1: it's not. Plenty of presidents have said exactly the same thing.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Hey the Olympics. Are they over yet? No, they're still going. Hey, well,
- 3:49Speaker 1: who watches Network TV anyway? I'm not a big Olympics fan,
- 3:52Speaker 1: and I have no interest ever have in hockey. I
- 3:54Speaker 1: don't know why. I just can't get interested in hockey
- 3:57Speaker 1: watching it. But this is a great moment for the
- 4:00Speaker 1: United States as they beat the Canadian hockey team when
- 4:03Speaker 1: it's really significant because right now we're bickering with Canada
- 4:08Speaker 1: and right now well and also because Canada is the
- 4:12Speaker 1: the hockey capital of the world. So if you can
- 4:14Speaker 1: beat Canada and hockey, you can beat anybody. Great moment
- 4:17Speaker 1: for the United States.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Out of states with numbers.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Walk Acrostic thumbs, Jack Switcher, the golden goal for the
- 4:27Speaker 3: United States.
- 4:32Speaker 2: For the first time since the nineteen eighty bar gold
- 4:35Speaker 2: in the United States.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Takes the doll Well, it was quite exciting, all right.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I mean again, I'm not a hockey fan. I'm not
- 4:44Speaker 1: a big Olympic fan, but that was exciting. The snow
- 4:47Speaker 1: stay home. You got the best county executive in America,
- 4:51Speaker 1: Bruce Flakeman, Nassau County.
- 4:53Speaker 4: It's easier for our cruise to make the highways and
- 4:57Speaker 4: roadways safe, and it will be safer for you to
- 4:59Speaker 4: say stay home with the high winds and the snow
- 5:02Speaker 4: and the lack of visibility.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's another reason for these emergency things where you're
- 5:09Speaker 1: not allowed to drive. They want nobody on the roads.
- 5:11Speaker 1: It's because it's easier to clear the roads and clean
- 5:13Speaker 1: them and keep You can't just wait till it all
- 5:15Speaker 1: falls and then clean the road. You got to clean
- 5:18Speaker 1: and plow like every couple of inches in order to
- 5:21Speaker 1: get it done properly. So that's the other reason.
- 5:23Speaker 4: This storm will be a profound storm, one that will
- 5:28Speaker 4: reach blizzard level with high winds of fifty to sixty
- 5:33Speaker 4: miles an hour, and we could have accumulation exceeding eighteen inches,
- 5:38Speaker 4: which would definitely be historic.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, you look at Blakeman, it's a good
- 5:43Speaker 1: looking guy, but you look at him, he looks like
- 5:45Speaker 1: a guy who's been around. He looks like a guy
- 5:47Speaker 1: with a ton of experience. He looks like a veteran
- 5:49Speaker 1: who's done millions. He looks like he knows what he's doing.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Then you look at mom Donnie, he looks like he
- 5:54Speaker 1: just got out of college a week ago. He looks
- 5:56Speaker 1: like his only joby ever read in his life was
- 5:59Speaker 1: being like a paper boy or something. He looks just
- 6:02Speaker 1: like a total inexperienced guy.
- 6:03Speaker 5: Combined with daytime temperatures slipping above freezing and overnight lows
- 6:07Speaker 5: dropping to the low twenties, this snowfall will melt then refreeze,
- 6:12Speaker 5: resulting in dangerously icy sidewalks and streets.
- 6:17Speaker 1: All right, it looks totally inexperienced. But you get a
- 6:20Speaker 1: lot of these young elitist little college kids. They got
- 6:22Speaker 1: no experience at all, but they can talk like this,
- 6:25Speaker 1: and they can talk very fast, and they talk so
- 6:26Speaker 1: fast than you think, well, the guy must know what
- 6:27Speaker 1: he's talking about, because who can talk that fast if
- 6:29Speaker 1: he doesn't they So they sound like they know what
- 6:31Speaker 1: they're doing, but then they try to do it and
- 6:33Speaker 1: nothing gets done. Speaking of nothing getting done and incompetent.
- 6:37Speaker 1: So this Gavin Newsome is running for president obviously, and
- 6:43Speaker 1: you know this voter id question. I think everybody in
- 6:47Speaker 1: the world now realizes it's just a complete scam by Democrats.
- 6:51Speaker 1: They we have voter id for everything everything, everything to
- 6:56Speaker 1: buy anything, to get cough medicine and dructure. You got
- 6:58Speaker 1: to have a voter photo ID everywhere to get on
- 7:01Speaker 1: a plane, come into any office building. You know, if
- 7:04Speaker 1: you want to go to MSNBC or CNN, you got
- 7:07Speaker 1: to show photo ID to get in their building. You
- 7:08Speaker 1: have to show photo I D everywhere for everything. So
- 7:11Speaker 1: the only thing, the only thing they don't want it
- 7:13Speaker 1: for is voting, which means it's obviously a scheme to
- 7:16Speaker 1: get illegals voting, to get people to vote multiple times.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Obviously it's a scam. So Newsom is being interviewed on
- 7:24Speaker 1: some panel and he's up there in front of the audiences.
- 7:28Speaker 1: He says, well, you can't require a photo ED because
- 7:31Speaker 1: a lot of people don't have a birth certificate. They
- 7:34Speaker 1: don't have and then Newsom says, I don't have a
- 7:36Speaker 1: birth certificate. I don't know where it is. I haven't
- 7:39Speaker 1: seen it in a million years. I don't know where
- 7:41Speaker 1: my birth certificate is, so I can't get it. How
- 7:43Speaker 1: could I get it? A lot of people were stunned
- 7:46Speaker 1: that Newsom is Could he be that stupid? I think
- 7:48Speaker 1: I assume he's just lying. He's not actually that dumb.
- 7:51Speaker 1: It's very easy to get a birth certificate replaced if
- 7:54Speaker 1: you don't have your birth certificate. If you lost it
- 7:56Speaker 1: a million years ago, it's a simple matter to get
- 7:59Speaker 1: it replaced. Just google it replace a birth certificate. Fifty
- 8:04Speaker 1: different sites will come up. Government sites. Also, there's a
- 8:08Speaker 1: lot of private companies that do it for you. You just
- 8:11Speaker 1: go fill out a form where you were born, all
- 8:13Speaker 1: that stuff, and they'll get you a replacement birth certific
- 8:16Speaker 1: You might have to wait five six weeks for it
- 8:18Speaker 1: to come in the mail, but it's very easy to
- 8:20Speaker 1: get a birth aat of it if you don't have yours.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Simple thing in the world. Nobody could believe Newsom is
- 8:26Speaker 1: that stupid, that bumbling, that he has no idea that
- 8:30Speaker 1: you can get your birth certify it replaced. So the
- 8:33Speaker 1: Democratic Party has a problem. Besides having all these crazy
- 8:37Speaker 1: radical left wing far left woke, they've got an amazing
- 8:41Speaker 1: assortment of very dumb people. You had AOC last weekend
- 8:47Speaker 1: ten days ago. AOC is at this conference in Munich
- 8:51Speaker 1: and she's asked a simple foreign policy question. If China
- 8:54Speaker 1: invades Taiwan, will the US respond, will they do something?
- 9:00Speaker 1: And the answer is, of course, yes, we will defend Taiwan.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Or the answer is and this is actually the official
- 9:08Speaker 1: policy of the United States. They're called strategic ambiguity, but
- 9:13Speaker 1: you give an answer of somethingse so she couldn't answer
- 9:15Speaker 1: the question. Instead, she double talk a word salad that
- 9:19Speaker 1: sounded so ridiculous. And she's been ridiculed all over the
- 9:22Speaker 1: world for bumbling an answer to a simple question. And
- 9:27Speaker 1: I guess it's getting to her. So this weekend she
- 9:29Speaker 1: put out a it was in the middle of the night.
- 9:31Speaker 1: It looked like the middle of the night. She put
- 9:33Speaker 1: out this rambling, mumbling, a whispering kind of response, trying
- 9:38Speaker 1: to explain why she gave such a dumb answer to
- 9:41Speaker 1: the question. And I guess she does this by herself.
- 9:43Speaker 1: There's no staff to say to her, Hey, don't post this.
- 9:47Speaker 1: You look like you're drunk. It looks like it's in
- 9:49Speaker 1: the middle of the night. Look like a drunken rant.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Don't post it. You look stoned. You look well, here
- 9:54Speaker 1: it is. This is what she posted. It's her at
- 9:56Speaker 1: home alone, like right in the face, right in the camera.
- 10:00Speaker 6: I think that I don't understand foreign policy because out
- 10:03Speaker 6: of hours of discourse about international affairs, I pause to
- 10:08Speaker 6: think about one of the most sensitive geopolitical issues that
- 10:13Speaker 6: currently exist on Earth. I'm afraid the issue is not
- 10:17Speaker 6: my understanding, but rather the problem is perhaps you've gotten
- 10:22Speaker 6: adjusted to a president that never thinks before he speaks.
- 10:29Speaker 1: With that whole Uh what the ranting was all about?
- 10:32Speaker 1: It just sounds really really really crazy, but not helping
- 10:36Speaker 1: her at all. Last on the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping, Uh,
- 10:43Speaker 1: nobody really knows anything at this point. They're talking about
- 10:45Speaker 1: the problem is this local sheriff's office, the bumbling local
- 10:50Speaker 1: yocal you know, Barney Fife, kind of a sheriff's office,
- 10:54Speaker 1: then making statements about the DNA could take a year
- 10:57Speaker 1: to analyze. I don't know what that means. They're thinking
- 11:00Speaker 1: this could be a total amateur. Some think it's as
- 11:04Speaker 1: a couple of private eyes who've been working on this,
- 11:07Speaker 1: who think it's the drug cartel. There's a lot of
- 11:10Speaker 1: people think it's a total amateur. By the bumbling way
- 11:13Speaker 1: that the amateur approached the door and then had nothing
- 11:16Speaker 1: to cover the camera with, so he grabbed some foliage
- 11:19Speaker 1: and try to do it with that, and then didn't
- 11:20Speaker 1: know how to do it. Also, the holster that he
- 11:23Speaker 1: was wearing on the front is like the lowest, cheapest, crummiest,
- 11:26Speaker 1: most amateurish holster they don't think any professional criminal would
- 11:30Speaker 1: use such a holster, and also cited the suspects of
- 11:35Speaker 1: clothing and gear. It didn't look right. Now, there's some
- 11:38Speaker 1: that still go to the Mexican drug cartel thinking that
- 11:42Speaker 1: the type of clothing. And he's one that says, this
- 11:46Speaker 1: kind of stuff is typically in Mexico cheap holster. Those
- 11:49Speaker 1: weird looking gloves, that sort of stuff. Now they found
- 11:53Speaker 1: an Arizona couple found another pair of gloves. These these
- 11:56Speaker 1: gloves blood stain out there near the neighborhood. Actually, people
- 12:01Speaker 1: have found several different several different gloves all around the neighborhood. Well,
- 12:05Speaker 1: how does so many people throw their gloves all over
- 12:07Speaker 1: the place. It's a very warm climate there. I don't
- 12:10Speaker 1: know why all these people would have gloves anyway, who
- 12:13Speaker 1: would wear gloves in such a warm climate. But we'll see. Hey,
- 12:16Speaker 1: the Ukraine War, does anybody remember that? You know that
- 12:19Speaker 1: Russia Ukraine? Do you know they're still fighting? You never
- 12:21Speaker 1: hear a word about this ever used to be all
- 12:24Speaker 1: over the news. You don't hear a single thing about it.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Watch every newscast in the world for the last week.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Nothing about Ukraine. But the war still continues. And Ukraine
- 12:35Speaker 1: a huge strike this past week, Ukraine strike missile strike
- 12:41Speaker 1: against a key Russian military facility. It was a missile
- 12:45Speaker 1: factory actually, and it was deep inside Russia, eight hundred
- 12:49Speaker 1: and sixty miles inside Russia, eight hundred and sixty miles
- 12:53Speaker 1: inside Russia. And the Ukraine hit it with a bunch
- 12:57Speaker 1: of missiles and took it out. And they used not
- 13:00Speaker 1: Tomahawk missiles, US Tomahawk. No, No, they used Flamingo missiles.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Now you're saying, what the hell's a Flamingo missile. It's
- 13:07Speaker 1: actually made by a company called high Point. It's a
- 13:10Speaker 1: Ukrainian company in Ukraine. They can travel reportedly two thousand miles.
- 13:15Speaker 1: But they were right on target. Took out this missile
- 13:18Speaker 1: factory eight hundred and sixty miles deep inside Russia, all
- 13:22Speaker 1: done with Ukrainian made missiles. Pretty good. So it may
- 13:27Speaker 1: get to the point where they may be able to
- 13:29Speaker 1: actually make their own weapons, defend themselves, not depend on
- 13:33Speaker 1: us for anything.
- 13:36Speaker 7: Though.
- 13:36Speaker 1: We'll see. Hey, we'll take some calls in a minute.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten is
- 13:41Speaker 1: the number. Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
- 13:45Speaker 1: We want a snow report wherever you are call us
- 13:47Speaker 1: from all over the Tri state area. Give us a
- 13:49Speaker 1: little snow report. Hey, you know, we're doing our big
- 13:52Speaker 1: CEO event. It's a nice business network event. If you
- 13:56Speaker 1: want to meet some great business people CEOs, Mingle network,
- 14:01Speaker 1: We're going to do it March nineteenth from six to
- 14:05Speaker 1: eight pm. It's going to be a two Park Avenue.
- 14:09Speaker 1: That's a beautiful new corporate event space. If you're looking
- 14:12Speaker 1: to do an event somewhere two Park Avenue. It's Park
- 14:15Speaker 1: Avenue around thirty fourth Street's close to Grand Central, close
- 14:19Speaker 1: to Penn Station. It's got a beautiful rooftop with a
- 14:22Speaker 1: great view and a great terrace. But it'll be March nineteenth,
- 14:27Speaker 1: six to eight pm. You'll meet a lot of business
- 14:29Speaker 1: leaders CEOs. I'll be there, Larry MENTI will be there.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Curtis Lee, well, we'll be there. In fact, he'll speak
- 14:34Speaker 1: at some point. He's a great speaker in person. But
- 14:37Speaker 1: if you want to come, space is limited. So you
- 14:40Speaker 1: gotta RSVP to our CEO networking event March nineteenth, six
- 14:46Speaker 1: to eight pm. You got to an RSVP and to
- 14:49Speaker 1: do that just go to wor dot com, slash live,
- 14:54Speaker 1: wr dot com slash live. So yeah, we'll take some calls. Next,
- 15:00Speaker 1: give me a call eight hundred three to two one
- 15:03Speaker 1: zero seven ten.
- 15:05Speaker 5: Mister New York marximonaor.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Hey, we'll take some calls. Eight hundred three two one
- 15:17Speaker 1: zero seven ten is the number. Let's go to Andy
- 15:20Speaker 1: in Brooklyn, Andy. What's it like in Brooklyn right now?
- 15:23Speaker 1: Misible let of snow on the ground, A lot of
- 15:26Speaker 1: snow on the.
- 15:27Speaker 8: Streets, and you can't you know, it's part of the
- 15:30Speaker 8: reason I'm calling you. You know, every time you call
- 15:34Speaker 8: three one one, they tell you all when it's side
- 15:36Speaker 8: of the street, parking is suspended. But they always say,
- 15:41Speaker 8: ye still have to feed the meter. And maybe you
- 15:45Speaker 8: know why they do that. You can't even find the
- 15:49Speaker 8: car let alone the meter in a in a thing
- 15:53Speaker 8: like this, you have any idea why they just don't
- 15:56Speaker 8: cancel both.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it's called money, it's called revenue. They want you
- 16:00Speaker 1: to feed the meter. That way, they can send you
- 16:02Speaker 1: a ticket if you don't feed it. Obviously, right now
- 16:05Speaker 1: you can't find the meter. And do they still have
- 16:07Speaker 1: parking meters anywhere? I guess they do. I mean they haven't,
- 16:11Speaker 1: but you don't pay you. There's no such thing as
- 16:12Speaker 1: putting a quarter in a parking meter anymore. You got
- 16:15Speaker 1: to use the app. And how many of these do
- 16:18Speaker 1: I have on my phone? Wherever you go it's a
- 16:19Speaker 1: different app. If you're in Connecticut, it's this one park Mobile.
- 16:25Speaker 1: If you're somewhere else it's park NYC. You're gonna have
- 16:28Speaker 1: all these different apps. Passport parking, that one works in
- 16:32Speaker 1: a Long Island's a lot. Let's go to Rich in
- 16:35Speaker 1: Myrtle Beach. Rich, How you doing pretty good?
- 16:38Speaker 3: No snow, but it does feel like twenty two degrees
- 16:40Speaker 3: down here, so we got the cold air, you know.
- 16:42Speaker 1: So you're in Myrtle Beach. You ever get a lot
- 16:44Speaker 1: of snow? You don't get snow there, do you?
- 16:46Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 16:46Speaker 7: We did.
- 16:47Speaker 3: We had five inches last month and stuck around for
- 16:50Speaker 3: a day. Two last year we had five or six inches.
- 16:52Speaker 3: That's stuck around for almost a week. But you know,
- 16:55Speaker 3: they have a little clown call with a shovel on it,
- 16:57Speaker 3: and that's their their plow, and you know it actually
- 17:01Speaker 3: just shuts down the entire state when something like that happens.
- 17:04Speaker 1: You know, well, we got fifteen inches in New York,
- 17:06Speaker 1: eighteen inches in the suburbs, two feet in the south
- 17:10Speaker 1: shore of Long Island.
- 17:11Speaker 3: So that's why I used to live in Long Beach
- 17:13Speaker 3: and Atlantic Beach. I'd probably have two feet of snow
- 17:15Speaker 3: right now. You know, I sit around and just watch it. Melt.
- 17:18Speaker 3: I used to like shoveling snow, even when I was
- 17:20Speaker 3: in my fifties. I made money shoveling snow.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Come up here. You can get nineteen dollars and forty
- 17:25Speaker 1: cents an hour from Mamdani.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Oh, I'm trying to have to show two forms of
- 17:29Speaker 3: ID even though I don't need one to vote. That's
- 17:31Speaker 3: pretty unbelievable. That was I saw that in the news
- 17:33Speaker 3: the other day. You have to have two forms of
- 17:35Speaker 3: ID to shovel snow for twelve dollars an hour, but
- 17:38Speaker 3: you don't have to have one to vote up there.
- 17:40Speaker 3: You know, Hey, I'm watching the news here, Mark, And
- 17:43Speaker 3: you know they killed this drug cartel Kingtin in Mexico,
- 17:46Speaker 3: who was an ex cop by the way, all right,
- 17:48Speaker 3: so instead of the cartel's just taking the loss, putting
- 17:51Speaker 3: somebody else in shorge and keep pumping out the drugs.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Now they want to just make themselves be known. And
- 17:56Speaker 3: now they want to burn half of Mexico and that's
- 17:57Speaker 3: just going to make things worse for them. You figure
- 17:59Speaker 3: they would have learned, but it.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's quite a situation. You know. You could be
- 18:02Speaker 1: in New York City visiting, staying here in a hotel.
- 18:05Speaker 1: You get caught in the snowstorm. Airports are closed, you
- 18:07Speaker 1: can't get out. You could be down to Florida. Ooh, hurricane,
- 18:12Speaker 1: You're stuck. You can't get out. These people are in
- 18:15Speaker 1: this town in Mexico and some drug cartel guy shoots
- 18:19Speaker 1: the leader of the other drug cartel, like the Hector Salamanca,
- 18:25Speaker 1: and all hell breaks loose. This cartel members all over
- 18:27Speaker 1: the streets of this town shooting at everybody, blowing up buses, shooting,
- 18:31Speaker 1: and so everybody is told they can't leave their hotel.
- 18:34Speaker 1: It's too dangerous. Even the State Department puts out an
- 18:38Speaker 1: announcement shelter in place for Americans. Tourists have been warned
- 18:42Speaker 1: to stay indoors. Narco gangs cartels are on a rampage
- 18:48Speaker 1: following the death of the drug kingpin. One person reporting
- 18:51Speaker 1: a bus was going by totally on fire. They're bombing, killing, shooting.
- 18:56Speaker 1: All of this is a nice Mexico resort town. Let's
- 19:00Speaker 1: go to Vincent and Brooklyn Vincent, how you doing? Wait
- 19:04Speaker 1: a minute, there you go, Vincent, how you doing?
- 19:07Speaker 9: I'm okay, considering the fact that I was up until
- 19:11Speaker 9: four o'clock in the morning trying to keep my front
- 19:13Speaker 9: door clear so I could open it. Now I can
- 19:18Speaker 9: you hear me? Mark?
- 19:19Speaker 1: Yeah, so you no, I can't.
- 19:22Speaker 9: I can't open up my front door. And thank the Lord,
- 19:27Speaker 9: I have enough food in my house for the next week.
- 19:29Speaker 9: I cannot open my front door. I was up until
- 19:32Speaker 9: four o'clock in the morning, going out every hour just
- 19:35Speaker 9: so I could not even just swing it open, that's all.
- 19:39Speaker 9: And uh, now I can't. I can't open the market.
- 19:44Speaker 9: It's terrible over here.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Wow, you're like under house arrest.
- 19:47Speaker 9: Nothing personally exactly, and I have I have a steel
- 19:51Speaker 9: door of my house. I have bars on my window,
- 19:54Speaker 9: so it's like it's like I'm a prison of my
- 19:57Speaker 9: own making and mother nature making.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Oh.
- 20:01Speaker 9: By the way, I want to give a plug out
- 20:03Speaker 9: to the Seacrade Radio three because that's what I was
- 20:07Speaker 9: listening to. Aside from looking at the weather. At eleven
- 20:13Speaker 9: o'clock to track the storm, I put on the weather
- 20:16Speaker 9: channel on the seacraying radio and it is great. It
- 20:20Speaker 9: is everything that Larry meant. He says it is. The
- 20:24Speaker 9: sound clarity is wonderful. The station's coming real clare, no noise,
- 20:30Speaker 9: no static. I would recommend anybody especially this is the
- 20:35Speaker 9: perfect situation that proves this radio's weight, you know, I
- 20:42Speaker 9: mean way involved. Actually on the day like today, it
- 20:46Speaker 9: was really it really helped me get to no it's great, Mark,
- 20:53Speaker 9: it's great.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Vincent, thanks for calling. Great call. Yeah, as I remember
- 20:56Speaker 1: saying earlier, put the iHeart app on your phone. That's
- 21:00Speaker 1: the best radio. If you want a physical radio, the
- 21:03Speaker 1: best one made in the world is C Crane. They
- 21:06Speaker 1: come in different sizes. I have I think I have
- 21:10Speaker 1: about six Sea Crane radios, I mean some of them
- 21:13Speaker 1: from years ago. But they never ever ever break or
- 21:15Speaker 1: where they last you forever you plug them in. But
- 21:19Speaker 1: they also can operate on batteries, so if God forbid,
- 21:21Speaker 1: lose your power, it'll still work. It is the best radio,
- 21:25Speaker 1: especially AM FM, of course. But if they want the
- 21:27Speaker 1: best AM radio made in the world, c Crane. I
- 21:31Speaker 1: think they're in Massa. It's a Massachusetts company. I think.
- 21:34Speaker 1: I'm not sure, but I've been buying them for years.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Nobody no better radio than Sea Crane. If you need
- 21:39Speaker 1: a radio and you worried about power outages, get a
- 21:45Speaker 1: ce crane radio. Battery can run on batteries, and you know,
- 21:48Speaker 1: you can get a battery powered lamp. You can get
- 21:50Speaker 1: a battery powered heater. You get all that kind of stuff.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Just look online. You'll find it and something you should
- 21:57Speaker 1: have at home. Battery powered lamps, heaters. You can get
- 22:01Speaker 1: a little tiny portable generator if if you're worried about
- 22:03Speaker 1: power artist, you should have all that stuff at home.
- 22:05Speaker 1: You got seventeen thousand people without power in New York,
- 22:09Speaker 1: mostly Long Island. New Jersey got one hundred and thirty
- 22:13Speaker 1: seven thousand people without power, thirteen thousand without power in Connecticut.
- 22:18Speaker 1: So hey, when we come back John Fund, he is
- 22:21Speaker 1: the great columnist. He wrote the best book ever on
- 22:24Speaker 1: elections and security. And we'll talk to him about voter ID,
- 22:29Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff, the midterms and more. Just
- 22:31Speaker 1: ahead on seven to ten, WOOR give wr Brie said
- 22:37Speaker 1: on the iHeartRadio app to hear Marx Simone and all
- 22:40Speaker 1: the WOOR hosts in an instance.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Now back to the Marximo Show on wor.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Well, we like to bring you the smartest people around.
- 22:51Speaker 1: John Fund, the great columnist National Review, and also the
- 22:56Speaker 1: Committee on Leash Prosperity does great work there, and he
- 22:59Speaker 1: wrote the best book on the subject of our elections.
- 23:03Speaker 1: You've got to get his book. It's called Our Broken
- 23:06Speaker 1: Elections by John Fund. You can get it on Amazon,
- 23:10Speaker 1: John Fund, How you doing a pleasure?
- 23:13Speaker 7: Thank you?
- 23:14Speaker 1: Hey, voter ID the fight sign.
- 23:17Speaker 7: Luckily I'm in Florida, so I don't have to sit
- 23:19Speaker 7: through your snow. But you know, I hope, I hope
- 23:22Speaker 7: your listeners are warm and at home.
- 23:24Speaker 1: You're missing all the fun here, and don't try to
- 23:27Speaker 1: get back. The airport's going to be closed for three days, but.
- 23:31Speaker 7: I'm not. I'm not due until Friday. I'll be fine.
- 23:33Speaker 7: You'll be fine. Hey, this voter I D thing, it
- 23:37Speaker 7: gets more and more and more ridiculous. Obviously you need
- 23:39Speaker 7: an ID to buy anything anywhere, to get into any
- 23:42Speaker 7: office building. It's obviously the Democrats up to no good
- 23:47Speaker 7: with this voter ID stuff.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Am I right?
- 23:51Speaker 7: Well, let's look at the New York City we learned
- 23:54Speaker 7: a few years ago when Deblasio was mayor how much
- 23:58Speaker 7: fraud there was in New York City elect the Democratic
- 24:02Speaker 7: appointee to the Board of Elections for Manhattan was accosted
- 24:06Speaker 7: by James O'Keefe at a party and he admitted how
- 24:09Speaker 7: much fraud there was in New York. He said, you know,
- 24:11Speaker 7: in buses they rent them in Chinatown, they take up,
- 24:14Speaker 7: pick up the homeless, they give them packs of cigarettes,
- 24:16Speaker 7: they drive them from polling place to polling place, and
- 24:20Speaker 7: that's just one way that they do fraud. And Deblasio's
- 24:24Speaker 7: response was not to question him about the fraud, but
- 24:27Speaker 7: to fire him. He fired his own Democratic appointee to
- 24:30Speaker 7: the Board of Elections. So we know there's fraud. Now,
- 24:35Speaker 7: what does Mayor Mandami do well. The mayor says, voter
- 24:39Speaker 7: ID is racist. He agrees with Chuck Schumer that it's
- 24:42Speaker 7: Jim Crow two point zero. But when he announces that
- 24:46Speaker 7: the city needs emergency snow shovelers yesterday, what does he say.
- 24:52Speaker 7: It's nineteen dollars an hour, you know, good wages, maybe
- 24:56Speaker 7: not union wages, but good wages.
- 24:58Speaker 3: And you only.
- 25:00Speaker 7: Have to bring five forms of ID to sign up.
- 25:03Speaker 7: You need two photos, you need two IDs and your
- 25:09Speaker 7: Social Security card and then you can snow. Then you're
- 25:12Speaker 7: allowed to shovel snow, which is of course a high security,
- 25:16Speaker 7: high impact job. So The hypocrisy here is beyond rich.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Isn't it also the most racist thing on earth? For
- 25:27Speaker 1: Democrats to say, well, a black voter can't figure out
- 25:29Speaker 1: how to get an idea they wouldn't be capable of getting.
- 25:32Speaker 1: How racist is well?
- 25:33Speaker 7: The Brennan Center, which is the liberal think tank that
- 25:37Speaker 7: does these issues, say twenty five percent of African Americans
- 25:40Speaker 7: lack of a lower ID, an idea that would be
- 25:43Speaker 7: accepted at the polls. That's ridiculous. Everybody knows that. I mean,
- 25:47Speaker 7: you can't sign up for Medicare, you can't sign up
- 25:50Speaker 7: for catching a check, you can't travel, you can't do
- 25:55Speaker 7: anything with that idea today, it's preposterous to say the
- 25:57Speaker 7: twenty five percent of African Americans ID. And of course
- 26:01Speaker 7: African Americans think it's preposterous. If you look at the polls,
- 26:04Speaker 7: the most recent ones of the Washington Post survey and
- 26:08Speaker 7: the and the Pew Research survey, seventy one percent of
- 26:13Speaker 7: African Americans support photo idea at the polls, sixty seven
- 26:17Speaker 7: percent of Hispanics and eighty percent of Asian Americans. So
- 26:23Speaker 7: if it's so racist, if it's so discriminatory, why is
- 26:27Speaker 7: it that they all of these minority groups have false
- 26:30Speaker 7: consciousness and believe something which isn't true.
- 26:35Speaker 1: He didn't Obama require photo ID to get Obamacare.
- 26:40Speaker 7: Well, of course you need the idea to get Obamacare.
- 26:42Speaker 7: You need ID for everything. In fact, if you march
- 26:45Speaker 7: down to the to the city hall to get married,
- 26:48Speaker 7: and that's you know, marriage is a constitutional right, whether
- 26:51Speaker 7: it's gay or straight marriage, you've got to have an ID.
- 26:53Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Well, so what do you think will happen? Will we
- 26:56Speaker 1: get the can the federal government do something to make
- 26:59Speaker 1: it uniform voter idea require?
- 27:01Speaker 7: First of all, we don't want to follow what Joe
- 27:04Speaker 7: Biden did, which is he tried to nationalize the elections.
- 27:07Speaker 7: He tried to take away the power of the states
- 27:10Speaker 7: to run the elections and federalize it in Washington. We
- 27:13Speaker 7: don't want that. So what the law that's before the
- 27:16Speaker 7: Senate now it passes past the House. The law says,
- 27:20Speaker 7: the federal government, if it's going to give money to
- 27:22Speaker 7: people to the states for voting machines and improving their technology,
- 27:28Speaker 7: in response, you have to require that the states ask
- 27:33Speaker 7: for a photo ID to vote the polls. And when
- 27:35Speaker 7: people first register they have to prove their citizenship. And
- 27:39Speaker 7: there are many ways to prove your citizenship. You can
- 27:41Speaker 7: do it with a birth certificate, which, by the way,
- 27:43Speaker 7: you can get online. Now you can go through almost
- 27:46Speaker 7: all the records and if you're less than eighty years old,
- 27:48Speaker 7: you're going to find your certificate online and can get
- 27:50Speaker 7: a copy sent to you. And look, I'll say it
- 27:53Speaker 7: should be free, you know. I think that everybody should
- 27:56Speaker 7: have access to a free ID and then they can
- 27:59Speaker 7: use it to vote. And you know that's why. So
- 28:03Speaker 7: it's so easy, that's why so overwhelming majorities of every
- 28:06Speaker 7: American demographic group supported. In fact, the last time I
- 28:10Speaker 7: checked it was the Washington Post survey. There were forty
- 28:13Speaker 7: different categories of voters and the only category, which voter
- 28:17Speaker 7: I D did not have a majority of it had
- 28:20Speaker 7: a plurality support. More supported it than not. They were
- 28:23Speaker 7: few not sure was the extremely liberal group I call
- 28:26Speaker 7: those MSNBC and ms NOW voters. Other than that, everyone
- 28:32Speaker 7: supports voter ID.
- 28:34Speaker 1: So, hey, maybe maybe it's too early to ask you this, Well,
- 28:36Speaker 1: how does it look for the midterms? What do you
- 28:38Speaker 1: think happens in the midterms?
- 28:40Speaker 7: If the election work today would not be good. But
- 28:43Speaker 7: the election is not held today, It's held in November,
- 28:46Speaker 7: and the economy will go through a lot of generations
- 28:48Speaker 7: before then. President Trump, you know, has been known to
- 28:52Speaker 7: pull rabbits out of hats, but you know he's gonna
- 28:55Speaker 7: have to be a pretty big rabbit. He has made
- 28:57Speaker 7: some tactical mistakes, Mark, and unfortunately I think he is
- 29:03Speaker 7: anger sometimes gets ahead of his cold calculated self interest.
- 29:09Speaker 7: And the problem with the tariffs is this. The tariffs
- 29:13Speaker 7: are very very popular with his base. Eighty seven percent
- 29:17Speaker 7: of Maga Republicans like the tariffs, but forty three percent
- 29:22Speaker 7: of non Maga Republicans support the tariffs. So there's a
- 29:25Speaker 7: big gap there, and there's still a lot of non
- 29:27Speaker 7: Maga Republicans. So here's the problem. Overall, independents hate the
- 29:32Speaker 7: tariffs by two to one, and they're the ones who
- 29:36Speaker 7: decide the election in these thirty swing house races. I
- 29:40Speaker 7: think the Supreme Court handed the President a gift. It
- 29:43Speaker 7: gives him an excuse to blame someone else for scilling
- 29:47Speaker 7: back to tariffs and not making them the big issue
- 29:50Speaker 7: in the campaign. Here's the problem we have, Mark, He's
- 29:53Speaker 7: imposed this new fifteen percent tariff, but it expires in
- 29:56Speaker 7: five months. That puts us right in the middle of
- 29:59Speaker 7: the fall campaign. Congress will then have to vote on
- 30:01Speaker 7: the tariffs to extend them, otherwise they go away immediately.
- 30:05Speaker 7: Trump will put pressure on the Republican congressman to vote
- 30:08Speaker 7: for them, but enough will not vote for them that
- 30:10Speaker 7: he'll go down to defeat. He'll look weak. The tariffs
- 30:13Speaker 7: will be the issue in the fall election. It won't
- 30:16Speaker 7: be ice, It'll be the tariffs, and people who worry
- 30:20Speaker 7: about affordability and the high price of things are going
- 30:22Speaker 7: to say Trump wanted tariffs, he just forced Congress to
- 30:25Speaker 7: vote on them, and I don't want high prices, so
- 30:28Speaker 7: I'm going to not vote Republican or stay home.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Well, now, what can he do tomorrow night, say to
- 30:33Speaker 1: the Union speach to fix that? Can he do something
- 30:36Speaker 1: tomorrow night to really.
- 30:36Speaker 7: Make if he wants to pull rabbit out of the hat,
- 30:39Speaker 7: here's the biggest rabbit he can pull. Right now, Everything
- 30:42Speaker 7: in our economy is indexed. You know, your Social Security
- 30:46Speaker 7: payment is indexed, your tax brackets are indexed. Everything is
- 30:50Speaker 7: indexed for inflation. The one thing that isn't indexed for
- 30:53Speaker 7: inflation is capital gains. If you buy an asset, whether
- 30:57Speaker 7: it's a painting, a house, a stock, it's not index
- 31:01Speaker 7: translation as it appreciates in value. In other words, if
- 31:04Speaker 7: you sell something, you're selling it at the price it
- 31:07Speaker 7: is today, not the price you paid for it. So
- 31:10Speaker 7: what the president can do, and he could do it
- 31:12Speaker 7: with housing, but I think he should do it with
- 31:13Speaker 7: the economy as a whole. He should say, if you
- 31:16Speaker 7: sell something, you're going to pay the capital gains on
- 31:20Speaker 7: the original price, not the price you settle down. This
- 31:22Speaker 7: will unlock housing all over the country. There are people
- 31:25Speaker 7: sitting in houses mark that aren't selling because they don't
- 31:28Speaker 7: want to pay the capital gains because there's your housing
- 31:32Speaker 7: exemption goes away after a while. If he did that,
- 31:34Speaker 7: that would be turbo charging the economy. Secretary of State, Treasury,
- 31:38Speaker 7: Secretary's Treasury vest and has done the numbers. Would turbo
- 31:41Speaker 7: charge the economy would have a rush of GDP growth
- 31:45Speaker 7: and people would be freed up. They could get they
- 31:48Speaker 7: could change assets, they could buy new assets. It would
- 31:51Speaker 7: be a boon and it would be a political winner.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Wow. Good stuff, well, John Fund brilliant as always. Get
- 31:57Speaker 1: his book Are Broken Elections. That's an excellent book. You

- 32:56Speaker 1: I'm seeing a lot more sidewalk. It's been shoveled. I've
- 32:58Speaker 1: seen more streets. Gives you more of the street. A
- 33:01Speaker 1: lot of stuff looks closed out there. There are people
- 33:03Speaker 1: walking around. Subways are running, not every single line, and
- 33:08Speaker 1: many of the lines have delays or some expresses. Now
- 33:12Speaker 1: locals that sort of stuff. Metro North is doing pretty well.
- 33:15Speaker 1: LR is a mess, mostly closed. All the airports are closed.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Every flight has been canceled maybe tomorrow. It's gonna take
- 33:25Speaker 1: a while to shovel all this out, and it's gonna
- 33:27Speaker 1: they say, the airports will not get back to normal
- 33:30Speaker 1: till Wednesday. Bridges are still closed now that's mostly the winds.
- 33:34Speaker 1: You can shovel the snow on the bridge, but it's
- 33:36Speaker 1: the winds that causes the closure, and the winds are
- 33:39Speaker 1: dying down. They were up to eighty miles an hour
- 33:42Speaker 1: in some places. Now it sounds like thirty twenty. Still snowing,
- 33:47Speaker 1: but it's very light snow now, and it'll all wrap
- 33:49Speaker 1: up about five thirty or six and that'll be the
- 33:51Speaker 1: end of it. Gonna be a snow day for everybody.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Just stay in, don't go anywhere if you don't have to.
