- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back. What's up, everybody. It's Jeff
- 0:14Speaker 1: Moser and Adam Kapa and we're back. We're back to
- 0:17Speaker 1: talk about free agency. We started it in our last
- 0:19Speaker 1: podcast going through some Eagles related stuff, but also free
- 0:23Speaker 1: agent quarterbacks. Now we're going to take a big look
- 0:25Speaker 1: at the free agent running back class and what would
- 0:29Speaker 1: be a word you would use to describe this class.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Adam deep deep deep deep. Although Givonti Williams resound with Dallas,
- 0:36Speaker 2: it's still again, you always have to understand there's a
- 0:40Speaker 2: reason why guys make it to market or at least
- 0:42Speaker 2: scheduled to be understect free agents. It's either injury history,
- 0:47Speaker 2: coaching changes, front office changes, or age. But it usually
- 0:52Speaker 2: fits within that category. It's very rare for a guy
- 0:54Speaker 2: to make it who is where you can't figure out
- 0:57Speaker 2: what's the reason. It's it's one of those things where
- 0:59Speaker 2: guys just unproduced and it's they're like the Breecee Hall one.
- 1:05Speaker 2: But Joe Juggas gets fired right that the GM the
- 1:07Speaker 2: drafted him is now with the Eagles and the Chris
- 1:11Speaker 2: started off great, then he tours a c L and
- 1:13Speaker 2: then they had they had coaching changes. Yeah, he filmed
- 1:16Speaker 2: to some bad luck. It's not his fault. Guy's a
- 1:18Speaker 2: good football player. He needs to be somewhere. I mean
- 1:21Speaker 2: they this GM you talked about on the other show,
- 1:25Speaker 2: like the Jets. Of all these picks, that's the thing.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Like they could let breest Hal walk, they could use it.
- 1:30Speaker 2: They could tag them just to keep them for one
- 1:32Speaker 2: year and then evaluate him with this new staff of
- 1:34Speaker 2: Frank Wright being the play caller. Man if I'm Breecee
- 1:38Speaker 2: Hall because he kind of went, I know he is
- 1:41Speaker 2: putting out on social media at the trade deadline, he
- 1:43Speaker 2: seemed like he wanted to be moved. You deserve better
- 1:46Speaker 2: than this, you really do. I mean they're there. They
- 1:49Speaker 2: should be terrible. The Jets that on a quarterback, it's
- 1:54Speaker 2: just there. They they traded away so much talent the
- 1:56Speaker 2: trade deadline. It's nice to have all these picks. But man,
- 1:58Speaker 2: it's being a Jet fan and it's tough enough and
- 2:00Speaker 2: this is just this is really hard.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I mean, it's such bad business. You have a good player,
- 2:04Speaker 1: a productive player. It's been through some adversity there, but
- 2:08Speaker 1: it's not all his faulty had some injury too, But
- 2:10Speaker 1: he's you're gonna if he walks you got nothing for it.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Maybe you get like a compic. But you know, if
- 2:15Speaker 1: you're gonna let a good player walk to another team
- 2:19Speaker 1: and get nothing out of it, you have better He
- 2:21Speaker 1: better have helped you win a super Bowl like Milton Williams, right,
- 2:24Speaker 1: because then you can understand you were holding onto it.
- 2:26Speaker 1: But the Jets could have moved them, They could have
- 2:28Speaker 1: extended them already, they could have done a thousand things.
- 2:30Speaker 1: And then just to let a good player like that
- 2:33Speaker 1: go and get nothing and then not have won any
- 2:35Speaker 1: games out of it, well, I just I scratch my head.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Man.
- 2:39Speaker 1: It's like it's like people there are teams that still
- 2:42Speaker 1: operate from the they don't learn from the rest of
- 2:44Speaker 1: the league. It's so crazy to me.
- 2:46Speaker 2: That was the one that's done me him not being
- 2:48Speaker 2: traded to trade dead Llen. I thought for sure the Chargers,
- 2:50Speaker 2: remember the Chargers, they had all sorts of problems with
- 2:52Speaker 2: injury at running back. You know, they only need to
- 2:54Speaker 2: see the problem that they had is that they know
- 2:56Speaker 2: Hampton was going to come back, which he did. You
- 2:58Speaker 2: saw him against the Eagles, and that's it. I mean,
- 3:02Speaker 2: if you're bringing bretze Hall, he was no way he
- 3:04Speaker 2: was coming back. He was going to be with the
- 3:05Speaker 2: team after the twenty five seasons, so it didn't make
- 3:08Speaker 2: sense long term, and if you wanted him, you really
- 3:14Speaker 2: should be trading for him and then extending his contract.
- 3:16Speaker 2: But again he went up not being traded, right, Like
- 3:19Speaker 2: Travis Etn is another guy Travis' Etn drafted a couple
- 3:23Speaker 2: of regimes ago, a couple of coaching staffs to go
- 3:27Speaker 2: and two years ago Tank Bixby was cutting into his
- 3:30Speaker 2: role big time wutterer Doug Peterson's last year with Press
- 3:34Speaker 2: Taylor as a play caller, and they couldn't faret what
- 3:37Speaker 2: the hell to do with Etn? And then boy he
- 3:39Speaker 2: gets with Liam Cohen, it becomes a stud again. He
- 3:42Speaker 2: was great this past season.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Right, but at least they could say that the number
- 3:45Speaker 1: three seed they got, you know, a nice they had.
- 3:47Speaker 1: They were working him, getting as much as they could
- 3:49Speaker 1: out of him. They'll probably get a good compic if
- 3:51Speaker 1: he goes with signs a decent deal so that it's
- 3:56Speaker 1: not bad business for them like it is the Jets
- 3:57Speaker 1: who are just completely stuck in new role or reverse
- 4:01Speaker 1: all the way around. But to your point, really, I mean,
- 4:04Speaker 1: we talked about the quarterbacks and after the first you know,
- 4:06Speaker 1: it's a it's a weird mix of people. But there
- 4:09Speaker 1: are some running backs that we're about to go through
- 4:11Speaker 1: who can be pretty good number twos like these. There
- 4:14Speaker 1: are some who like hall In atn who could maybe
- 4:16Speaker 1: be your number one or one A. But you know,
- 4:18Speaker 1: when you're talking about Kenneth Walker, he's been good. I've
- 4:21Speaker 1: loved what I've seen from, you know, in a sort
- 4:24Speaker 1: of committee role with Jean Tyler, Algier has been good.
- 4:27Speaker 1: You mentioned Javonte Williams who got a really nice contract
- 4:30Speaker 1: out of it. Dobbins always gets hurt, but when he
- 4:31Speaker 1: plays is good. And how about Kenny Gainwell. In the
- 4:34Speaker 1: year that the former Eagle had for the Steelers, he
- 4:37Speaker 1: came out pretty big.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Kenny Gainwell. And it was between the Eagles as I
- 4:41Speaker 2: understand it, and Gamewell Eagles and Pittsburgh. Kenny, this is
- 4:47Speaker 2: just this is just incredible. He had eighty five pass targets.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Eighty five that is unbelievable. The conversion right was good.
- 4:54Speaker 2: He it's seventy three receptions almost seven yards of catch.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Like he's never a he's not explosive. He listen to player.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Look you see tape in college and you see the
- 5:04Speaker 2: way he was used. You're you're intrigued. But he's not explosive, right,
- 5:07Speaker 2: But he's physical, he's got a little wiggle and he's
- 5:10Speaker 2: got good vision. He's just a good all round back. Yeah,
- 5:13Speaker 2: you're right. Uh, if you look at because when they're
- 5:16Speaker 2: not just Eagles fans listening here to this one. If
- 5:19Speaker 2: you got Rashad White, right, he's part of a committee.
- 5:21Speaker 2: He's not explosive, but he's a he's a captain check down.
- 5:23Speaker 2: He's really good at it. He's got good vision, high
- 5:27Speaker 2: character guy. Uh, does everything the right way. He's just
- 5:30Speaker 2: not explosive. Yeah, you know you got Algier, He's got
- 5:34Speaker 2: no juice at all. He's a banger man. The dude
- 5:37Speaker 2: gets the job done in his role. I give Terry
- 5:40Speaker 2: Fonna credit that the fire GM it's got. It worked
- 5:43Speaker 2: out with Bajan to be one A and it worked out.
- 5:47Speaker 2: But again, you he's that's probably on your point. This
- 5:51Speaker 2: this free agency, it's top heavy, it's Hall, it's e
- 5:53Speaker 2: t N, it's Walker and after that it's one A
- 5:57Speaker 2: and Rashad White. JK dobbin. Could he just I give
- 6:01Speaker 2: the guy credit. He's had major injury problems, but he
- 6:06Speaker 2: he just finds a home. And then you guys say
- 6:08Speaker 2: this sid Rico Daddle came out of nowhere. Now he's
- 6:11Speaker 2: really He had big injury history in college. He's not
- 6:13Speaker 2: a starter running back. He's in the mix for a
- 6:16Speaker 2: role ten twelve touches game. You got see. Part of
- 6:20Speaker 2: player valuation is understanding what a guy is and isn't
- 6:25Speaker 2: and that he's a guy I'm fascinated with because you
- 6:29Speaker 2: and I've covered this business a long time. Teams make
- 6:31Speaker 2: mistakes where they fike a guy. Oh you know what,
- 6:32Speaker 2: we really liked this guy for a long time. We've
- 6:35Speaker 2: had her eye on him. And when you bring him in,
- 6:37Speaker 2: sometimes he's not what you thought. Sometimes he's just good
- 6:40Speaker 2: for that particular program, So you gotta be careful.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I got a good laugh out of an NFL guy
- 6:44Speaker 1: I was talking to when we were talking about Rego.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Dad all I said, he went all Bryce Bryce Brown
- 6:50Speaker 1: on the league for a couple of weeks there, didn't he.
- 6:52Speaker 1: And you know, for all the Eagles old heads who
- 6:55Speaker 1: remember Bryce Brown and that two week stretch where he
- 6:58Speaker 1: will like lead the NFL in in Russian and he
- 7:01Speaker 1: was just unbelievable. Was that under the Chip Kelly year.
- 7:03Speaker 1: I think it was right. Well, he was last year
- 7:06Speaker 1: of Andy Reid.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Seventh rounder, right. What annoyed me about him? Yes, he
- 7:11Speaker 2: had great explosiveness yep for his size, but he would
- 7:16Speaker 2: All he would do is like I'm breaking it outside. Yep,
- 7:19Speaker 2: that's what I'm doing. And then they figured the league
- 7:22Speaker 2: figured it out. He doesn't have Tech Bigsby's vision or
- 7:25Speaker 2: power like Tek Bixby. Tries to hit the C gap
- 7:28Speaker 2: like he's when it might should have been gone to
- 7:30Speaker 2: the A gap, but that's okay, but he gets the
- 7:33Speaker 2: job done. Yeah. Bryce Brown was a total flash. Did
- 7:36Speaker 2: he go to Baylor? Where did he go?
- 7:37Speaker 1: This one he went to? I thought it was started
- 7:40Speaker 1: off of Kansas State because his brother Arthur was there
- 7:42Speaker 1: as a line and then I think he transferred somewhere
- 7:45Speaker 1: else or he started somewhere else and then transferred to
- 7:48Speaker 1: Kansas State to be with his brother. I think that, yeah,
- 7:53Speaker 1: But you remember he was like a pin. He was
- 7:54Speaker 1: like he was Travis Folgum of running backs before Travis.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Folgum, Travis full them. Oh my god, what sor game?
- 8:02Speaker 2: Run got rid up on you and every match like
- 8:04Speaker 2: people went crazy for me. He was really good. But yeah,
- 8:08Speaker 2: Travis could he was more legit.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Though I don't want to I don't want to minimim.
- 8:11Speaker 2: He's a he's a decent back. He's just not a
- 8:15Speaker 2: pure started running back. Again, there's there's a reason why
- 8:19Speaker 2: guys make it to fency Isa Pacheco. He looked like
- 8:22Speaker 2: he was going to be their guy. Breaks his leg
- 8:23Speaker 2: never the same.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Right, right, But imagine if you signed him this year
- 8:27Speaker 1: and you made him your committee back with a guy
- 8:30Speaker 1: who's got a little more juice and hits. Yeah, and
- 8:33Speaker 1: you did an inside outs and you're a thunder and
- 8:34Speaker 1: lightning right in between tackles runner and an outside tackles runner.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Pacheco could be a really good addition in that regard.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I would like, okay, if you want to pair
- 8:43Speaker 2: him up with JK.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Dobbins, another pair of Pacheco is somebody who stays healthier.
- 8:48Speaker 2: But right, but no, but in terms of juice set, yeah, yeah,
- 8:52Speaker 2: Unfortunately both have a big injury history. Yeah, it's it's
- 8:55Speaker 2: there's not there is a drop off, but it is
- 8:58Speaker 2: top of the haul. E t N. Now what do
- 9:01Speaker 2: the what do the Jags do? Because again they didn't
- 9:04Speaker 2: draft him and the Jets GM didn't draft haul John
- 9:08Speaker 2: Schneider did well. It was actually it was actually Pete
- 9:12Speaker 2: Carroll's call and Kenneth Walker. It was so bizarre to me,
- 9:14Speaker 2: and I don't I mean, I'm sure this happened. I
- 9:16Speaker 2: just don't remember last time it happened. The Seahawks, for
- 9:18Speaker 2: some stupid reason, drafted running backs and back to back
- 9:21Speaker 2: years in the second round. Yeah. I don't know why.
- 9:24Speaker 2: I don't know why you would do that.
- 9:26Speaker 1: That's just it didn't make a whole lot of sense
- 9:29Speaker 1: to hi.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I mean, I remember talked to an NFL GM who
- 9:33Speaker 2: was shocked when the Panthers drafted We're not consecutive years,
- 9:38Speaker 2: but they would wind up spending two first round picks
- 9:40Speaker 2: on running backs Jonathan Stewart and D'Angelo Williams, both very
- 9:45Speaker 2: good backs. Yep, but man, are you really like you
- 9:48Speaker 2: just that's it's not a you just don't do that
- 9:50Speaker 2: running back, you just don't.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it goes to like resource allocation, and you know what, Yeah,
- 9:56Speaker 1: it's very odd, it's very odd concept. But yeah, that
- 9:58Speaker 1: was done.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Everyone.

- 11:33Speaker 3: today are called six tep nine one eight seven five.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Boy Nick Chubb, I mean, I know he's not what
- 11:42Speaker 1: he was, but what in the what he was, in
- 11:44Speaker 1: my opinion about three or four years ago, the best
- 11:47Speaker 1: running back in the league.
- 11:48Speaker 2: By farcial he was. Yeah, he's near the end. He's
- 11:51Speaker 2: it's just terrible injury history, but really good dude. And
- 11:54Speaker 2: he's a number two. He's on start running back. He
- 11:56Speaker 2: doesn't that he's lost it. Yeah, but.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Honestly he may not be a number two anymore.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I know exactly right right right, Besie's number two. Brian
- 12:03Speaker 2: Robinson former starter for for the Commandos.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Who that's another guy.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah, that's he saw out of favor with him and
- 12:11Speaker 2: he got traded.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Right, Pair him with someone who has wiggle though, and
- 12:15Speaker 1: who Like, let's say, I know the Dolphins have a
- 12:18Speaker 1: bunch of guys that they've driveed that, but like, let's
- 12:19Speaker 1: say you have Devona h Chan, who does most of
- 12:21Speaker 1: his work outside the tackles so fast and he catches
- 12:24Speaker 1: the ball, and you want to you want to just
- 12:26Speaker 1: like pair him with a guy who can bulldoze down there.
- 12:28Speaker 1: You put him with Brian Robinson. That's a good backup.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I mean, that's a good good tandem.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. The other guys out there, Nah Harris coming
- 12:36Speaker 2: off injury, he's he's a backup at this point. Alexander
- 12:39Speaker 2: Madison's a backup. AJ Dillon who got usurped by tank
- 12:44Speaker 2: bigsby Jerome ford Is is passing down back where him Mos
- 12:47Speaker 2: Dirt who's well into his thirties now near the end,
- 12:50Speaker 2: and that eagle killer. I shouldn't go that far, but
- 12:53Speaker 2: Emmanuel Wilson is not bad not a bad backup. Mm hm,
- 12:57Speaker 2: and my guy. I love this guy, and it's I'll
- 13:00Speaker 2: be interested to see if they even tag him, if
- 13:02Speaker 2: the Bucks tag Sean Tucker out of Syracuse's a restricted
- 13:06Speaker 2: free agent. He's got some juice for his size. Definitely,
- 13:09Speaker 2: he's a guy, and I like to see team with
- 13:11Speaker 2: a fast back. And then there's Miles Sanders has now
- 13:16Speaker 2: officially hit Journeymansville. We need to get shirts for quarterbacks,
- 13:23Speaker 2: and we said Journeymansville or like well traveled pass rushers,
- 13:27Speaker 2: you know, like I like this a kid Jacob Martin
- 13:30Speaker 2: out of Temple, who's I remembered for the draft like
- 13:33Speaker 2: ten years ago. He was a thing. Yeah, and he
- 13:36Speaker 2: came out of nowhere of watching to play decent football.
- 13:38Speaker 2: And then Jerry McNichols is the true journeyman running back
- 13:40Speaker 2: has been on a number of teams. So yeah, it's
- 13:43Speaker 2: it's top heavy. But there's some death of Kenny Gamewell man.
- 13:45Speaker 2: I hope he gets paid. You know, he was really
- 13:48Speaker 2: really good.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yeah, you know that eighty five targets you mentioned that
- 13:51Speaker 1: he had last year. That is the Kenny Gainwell that
- 13:55Speaker 1: we thought was going to be coming to the Eagles
- 13:57Speaker 1: because he was like a wide receiver at Memphis.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Thought he was going to be.
- 14:01Speaker 1: But we've how many times have we said this and
- 14:03Speaker 1: and some at some point you have to stop looking
- 14:05Speaker 1: at the running back and just look at the offensive
- 14:07Speaker 1: concept and what the quarterback likes and doesn't like. But
- 14:09Speaker 1: whether it's Barkley, whether it's who else have we said
- 14:12Speaker 1: is going to get the ball? DeAndre Swift? These guys
- 14:15Speaker 1: are all able to catch the ball, and we saw
- 14:17Speaker 1: it all throughout camp. But then the season starts and
- 14:19Speaker 1: the running backs don't catch the ball.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Well, if your quarterback, if your quarterback doesn't want to
- 14:23Speaker 2: check it down, now he's I'd have to see what
- 14:26Speaker 2: the checked out rate is. It seemed like Hurtz was
- 14:28Speaker 2: checked down a little bit more the last two seasons
- 14:29Speaker 2: than previous when Swift was here. We got we got
- 14:32Speaker 2: totally fooled with that training camp and I'm still bothered
- 14:35Speaker 2: by it. Andrew and I were like beside ourselves, we
- 14:37Speaker 2: were like, this is crazy how much they're giving it
- 14:39Speaker 2: to Swift in the pass game, right, and they didn't
- 14:41Speaker 2: do it?
- 14:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and not to mention the fact that the screen
- 14:44Speaker 1: game has disappeared over last year, which is not thing.
- 14:48Speaker 2: That's right. Well, we'll get the man you like the
- 14:50Speaker 2: offseason where we'll go, okay, what sean man is to
- 14:52Speaker 2: do list once we get through the draft, But that
- 14:54Speaker 2: that screen game might this is just an embarrassment. How
- 14:58Speaker 2: do you not have a screen game and you're an
- 14:59Speaker 2: NFL team.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I do not know, especially when like once upon a
- 15:03Speaker 1: time you had one and it was really good. You know,
- 15:06Speaker 1: the Dallas Godter tunnel screens were always great.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Oh when they do it?
- 15:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I completely went away. You love Sean Tucker,
- 15:13Speaker 1: by the way, because he won you a week of
- 15:14Speaker 1: Fantasy Football Company.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Oh you know that. I all time calls John Hansen
- 15:19Speaker 2: didn't believe my old friend. We hosted a showing serious
- 15:22Speaker 2: together for twenty years. We This is one of those calls.
- 15:26Speaker 2: I happened to know he was gonna have a big role, right,
- 15:29Speaker 2: And I said, hey, man, I told John. I don't
- 15:32Speaker 2: know how I told him. I said, hey, due, you
- 15:33Speaker 2: won't believe some start Sean talker. He thought I was
- 15:36Speaker 2: out of my mind. He didn't believe. I think I
- 15:38Speaker 2: had to show him, yeah, because I always you know,
- 15:40Speaker 2: he had a medical issue for that draft, or he
- 15:42Speaker 2: would have gone a third or fourth.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Round, right.
- 15:44Speaker 2: And I gotta give Jason like credit, man, that was
- 15:46Speaker 2: a smart thing that he did. He and uh the kid, Uh,
- 15:52Speaker 2: the kid from Oregon is a really good running back
- 15:54Speaker 2: who unfortunately was hurt last season. But it's really good.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Another guy who's really good is Bucky Irvic. Yeah. He
- 16:00Speaker 2: he's a really good player.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think what happened was this was two
- 16:03Speaker 1: years ago. Irving was a rookie having good, good star
- 16:05Speaker 1: but him and Rasade White were both hurt, and you
- 16:08Speaker 1: knew Tucker was going to get a big workload in
- 16:10Speaker 1: that game, and I think he did. He was like
- 16:12Speaker 1: the main ball carrier.
- 16:13Speaker 2: He might have without looking it up, yeah, he might
- 16:15Speaker 2: have had like one hundred and twenty and thirty or something.
- 16:17Speaker 2: He he generally looked good, would given a chance to
- 16:20Speaker 2: extend it playing time. Right that that's a good job
- 16:23Speaker 2: by Jason Light and his group. Yeah, it's yeah, it's
- 16:27Speaker 2: it's a it's a good year. And need a running
- 16:29Speaker 2: back because there's plenty of them. Clubs have leverage, right, Okay, quarterback,
- 16:33Speaker 2: you don't, And we'll get the receiver and tight end
- 16:35Speaker 2: later this week. Receiver for the draft is going to
- 16:39Speaker 2: be fascinating because man, I've gotten a lot of conflicting
- 16:43Speaker 2: information from quarterback coach obviously been receiver coaches. That's talked
- 16:46Speaker 2: to two or three of them so far. Just get it,
- 16:48Speaker 2: because I'm going this week at the Combine. I want
- 16:49Speaker 2: to know I didn't go to the Senior Bowl this
- 16:52Speaker 2: year because of damn snow. I'm not hearing it. It's
- 16:56Speaker 2: a great class like Edge Rusher I've heard is very
- 16:58Speaker 2: good a receiver. I guess the times when you speak.
- 17:00Speaker 1: With yeah, well, you know, the combine has a weird
- 17:05Speaker 1: way of guys who you know running great forties or
- 17:08Speaker 1: all of a sudden emerging out of nowhere. Jad Jackson, Yeah, yeah, yep,
- 17:13Speaker 1: That's happened to a lot of people. Troy, Troy Williamson, Yes,
- 17:18Speaker 1: I remember Troy Williamson. Good call man, Like.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I'm like take him. Yes, And Chad Jackson, I'll never
- 17:25Speaker 2: forget it. At a University of Florida, he runs his
- 17:31Speaker 2: tape was never great from college? Right, he runs this
- 17:33Speaker 2: ridiculous forty time and like here we go. Yeah, he's
- 17:36Speaker 2: gonna go much higher. And it's one of those where
- 17:40Speaker 2: the the It's like my favorite all time story you
- 17:44Speaker 2: you might have been at that Senior Ball is when
- 17:47Speaker 2: a certain former quarterback at Arkansas was moved to receiver
- 17:51Speaker 2: at the Senior Ball. Come on, so if you can
- 17:52Speaker 2: get it, Matt Jones, you got it. I mean when
- 17:56Speaker 2: I say no one could cover him. It was embarrassing,
- 17:59Speaker 2: like he just was white lightning whatever you want to
- 18:01Speaker 2: call him. I don't know what it was, but man,
- 18:04Speaker 2: he had all the size, but he had the off
- 18:06Speaker 2: the field stuff and man, he could flat out fly.
- 18:08Speaker 2: It was ridiculous, terrible, but he he should have been
- 18:11Speaker 2: drafted the third or fourth round. I remember talking to
- 18:14Speaker 2: a GM then I swear, you guys on him, we're
- 18:17Speaker 2: way late. He goes he didn't fit because no one
- 18:20Speaker 2: fuck he'd go in the first round, right, Jack del
- 18:22Speaker 2: rio On whoever else was with the Jaguars, sure did. Yeah,
- 18:26Speaker 2: he didn't make it, but man, you gotta be careful
- 18:27Speaker 2: with these All Star games. I know it's crazy, but
- 18:31Speaker 2: or even the combine, you can't overdo it.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Where did I remember Darius Hayward bay ripped it up
- 18:35Speaker 1: of the combine? And wait, I mean he It's not
- 18:38Speaker 1: like he wasn't Ironby's radar, but he wasn't considered a
- 18:40Speaker 1: top ten.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Packs Davis al Davis. I think it was one of
- 18:43Speaker 2: ol one of his few last few drafts. I had
- 18:46Speaker 2: to Maryland. He's another DHB with another guy who just
- 18:51Speaker 2: lit it up, and he gotta be careful, man. And
- 18:55Speaker 2: we got to get our friend Mike mmula on our show.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Mike and I have talked about it many times. Like
- 18:59Speaker 2: he trained he was the first one to specifically train
- 19:01Speaker 2: for the combine. How those drills mm hmm. But it's funny. Yeah,
- 19:06Speaker 2: we we we had my Yeah, we had Mike on
- 19:08Speaker 2: our show with it was me Maurice at uh at
- 19:11Speaker 2: chick EA's Mike talked about it. He had the list
- 19:14Speaker 2: Fronk edge without that and this is when before Duke
- 19:17Speaker 2: Staley had This is when they just didn't have the
- 19:19Speaker 2: right way to get a guy back to play and
- 19:21Speaker 2: he didn't play again. But Mike wasn't not a bust.
- 19:23Speaker 2: He actually was productive.
- 19:25Speaker 1: No, Yeah, I know, I hate when people say he's
- 19:26Speaker 1: a bust. It's like they have no idea.
- 19:28Speaker 2: That's true.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Yeah, he may not have been a Pro Bowl or
- 19:30Speaker 1: at all, but he was not a bust. He was
- 19:32Speaker 1: he played well, how many years in the league. He
- 19:33Speaker 1: played six or seven years in the league, right.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Ninety five draft, I'd have to look. Yeah, he went
- 19:38Speaker 2: a long time. He was for one or two years. Yeah, Yeah,
- 19:41Speaker 2: he had.
- 19:41Speaker 1: The years where he had like six and a half,
- 19:42Speaker 1: seven and a half. Sad, that's not a bus. Yeah,
- 19:45Speaker 1: Like you know, who's the guy from the Jets. That
- 19:46Speaker 1: guy was a Golston right.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Oh oh gosh, well gone, what was and what what
- 19:53Speaker 2: Vernon Goldston? What was?
- 19:55Speaker 3: What?
- 19:55Speaker 2: Did he have a great comp I don't remember.
- 19:57Speaker 1: He was like he was a combine, a typical state workout,
- 20:00Speaker 1: warriors just blew it all up, unbelievable. And then didn't
- 20:04Speaker 1: you know he wasn't even that productive in college from
- 20:06Speaker 1: what I recall.
- 20:07Speaker 2: It's just I mean, I know now Barron Jones was
- 20:10Speaker 2: a good player for a while. Like he had a
- 20:12Speaker 2: ridiculous combine, right, unbelievable great.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Was it a great combine or was it really that
- 20:18Speaker 1: he said he set a world record in the broad
- 20:21Speaker 1: jump if I'm not mistaken, Well he did.
- 20:23Speaker 2: He had a great workout, and he was a good
- 20:26Speaker 2: player for a bit. He saw, you know, he's either
- 20:29Speaker 2: gonna be was it what if we important the time?
- 20:31Speaker 2: Is either going to be here or the Dolphins? Dolphins,
- 20:34Speaker 2: because he kind of wanted to get away from the coast. Yes,
- 20:37Speaker 2: and I met Byron uh Many. Actually what he was
- 20:40Speaker 2: going to be drafted. We were he was up at
- 20:42Speaker 2: the ESPN with us, and yeah, was super nice guy
- 20:45Speaker 2: senator him. Yeah, he's he's he had a terrible injury
- 20:49Speaker 2: to end his career. But you got it. It's it's
- 20:52Speaker 2: the Underware Olympics as they call it. I love that one.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Whoever came up with that's a good one.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough parking, traffic,

- 21:50Speaker 1: great prices, and an experience made for Philly Fans twenty
- 21:53Speaker 1: one and up.
- 21:55Speaker 2: And the scene of ball. We've talked about this in
- 21:57Speaker 2: the history of our show. The Eagles in the early
- 22:01Speaker 2: twenty eight or nine ten, they missed, They missed a
- 22:04Speaker 2: lot of players. Danny Watkins was the one man. You know,
- 22:08Speaker 2: it's you gotta you gotta take it for what it is.
- 22:10Speaker 2: It's only three days. That is correct. That's correct.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Hey, before we get out of here real quick. I
- 22:15Speaker 1: mean the Eagles for the last two years now in
- 22:17Speaker 1: a row have kept the fourth running back just to
- 22:20Speaker 1: just to like be window dressing. I mean, it's guys,
- 22:22Speaker 1: never washd Penny or in last year A J. Dillon
- 22:26Speaker 1: so waitsd Penny was actually two thousand was he was
- 22:29Speaker 1: the year? So who was the one who was the
- 22:31Speaker 1: fourth guy in twenty twenty four that didn't play much?
- 22:33Speaker 1: They had Barkley, they had Gain well they will Shipley
- 22:37Speaker 1: was a rookie. But didn't they have a fourth guy
- 22:39Speaker 1: that they just didn't play much? I can't think of
- 22:41Speaker 1: it at the moment. Was it uh Trey Surman?
- 22:46Speaker 2: He was there a little? He was there, yes, but
- 22:49Speaker 2: wasn't very long. He got hurt. Remember we got one
- 22:51Speaker 2: a big than I are. Yeah, no, it was Shipley
- 22:53Speaker 2: with Shipley, Gainwell and and Barkley.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Okay, so two of the last three years they've decided
- 23:00Speaker 1: I didn't have a fourth running back who basically was
- 23:01Speaker 1: there to collect dust. I'm very curious to see with
- 23:04Speaker 1: Manny and if they still feel like you're gonna need
- 23:06Speaker 1: for running backs because.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Right now that is well you need you need four
- 23:12Speaker 2: for training camp. You can't you really have to?
- 23:14Speaker 1: Oh no, no, yeah, I know I'm on the fifty three.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, oh yeah, there's no there's no reason. But
- 23:18Speaker 2: as we've always said, Howie's funny sometimes when when they
- 23:22Speaker 2: what did they have said? Was it two years ago
- 23:24Speaker 2: or three years ago when they opened the season with
- 23:26Speaker 2: like seven defensive tackles, Yes, it was ridiculous. They trained
- 23:30Speaker 2: Contaviious Street but very early against Atlanta to Atlanta. Yeah,
- 23:34Speaker 2: that's why you can't there there are there are roster
- 23:37Speaker 2: numbers at clubs will tell you that they have. And
- 23:39Speaker 2: then you have the Eagles who don't see it the
- 23:41Speaker 2: same one. Not every team does. That's okay, it's kind
- 23:43Speaker 2: of funny though, right, all.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Right, good stuff. That's gonna do it For this episode
