- 0:07Speaker 2: recorded in a little while.
- 0:09Speaker 3: We absolutely have them almost are I don't like with
- 0:13Speaker 3: our husbands.
- 0:14Speaker 2: It was like a long time.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Oh my god, I think I blocked that one.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Yeah, so a long time. How was your Valentine's Day?
- 0:20Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 0:21Speaker 3: Valentine's Day? Completely uneventful. Yeah, I don't even We didn't
- 0:25Speaker 3: even go out. We had we ate some brought some
- 0:27Speaker 3: chocolate home. We exchanged cards. That's it. Wrap it up.
- 0:31Speaker 1: You want to know two of my children have significant
- 0:34Speaker 1: others now so new evening like driving them around.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Yeah, two of them.
- 0:39Speaker 3: How cute is that? Come?
- 0:40Speaker 2: I know, it's very very cute. It's very cute.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Wait the older ones. I'm assuming your older time.
- 0:45Speaker 1: My daughter's got a little boyfriend for like five Yeah,
- 0:49Speaker 1: so they went months in dinner. Yeah, they really enjoy
- 0:52Speaker 1: each other. They're super cute together. I mean, it's totally innocent.
- 0:55Speaker 3: But she was fourteen, right.
- 0:57Speaker 2: She's fourteen.
- 0:59Speaker 1: And then my old are turning seventeen in three weeks
- 1:02Speaker 1: and no hitch and they're getting in their licenses and
- 1:06Speaker 1: that's a whole nother topic like I don't know how
- 1:10Speaker 1: you did it, Like weren't you so nervous?
- 1:12Speaker 2: Like how did you?
- 1:13Speaker 3: I didn't. I didn't. I didn't do it. That was
- 1:16Speaker 3: one area that I knew I was not capable of parenting.
- 1:19Speaker 3: So but not even to teach them to drive, I.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Was too not even the teaching, like the nervousness driving
- 1:26Speaker 1: when they they're like so nervous.
- 1:29Speaker 3: I got nothing. I got nothing good for you. I
- 1:31Speaker 3: don't know what to tell you. It's scary, yeah, but
- 1:34Speaker 3: I mean the truth is, I'm even scared, not as
- 1:36Speaker 3: much as Zach. I'm being honest, but I get nervous
- 1:38Speaker 3: now with Rachel driving just and I you know, as
- 1:41Speaker 3: much as you say to them, that's the only thing
- 1:44Speaker 3: that you can be doing is driving. There is no this.
- 1:46Speaker 3: There is no texting, there is no talking on the phone,
- 1:49Speaker 3: there is no eating, there is no you have to
- 1:51Speaker 3: just you know, focus, focus, focus on the road. But
- 1:55Speaker 3: when I mean, they just don't always listen. I don't know.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I'm always a nervous wrack about it, I know, agreed.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Funny last night I went out with some girlfriends for
- 2:01Speaker 1: drinks and we were talking about college because all our
- 2:03Speaker 1: kids are in that mode of looking at colleges now,
- 2:06Speaker 1: and we all started talking about like the stupid, stupid
- 2:09Speaker 1: shit we did when we were in college, and we
- 2:11Speaker 1: were like, it's a wonder that we're working alive. Can
- 2:14Speaker 1: I just tell you that one time I went with
- 2:16Speaker 1: my friends to a Caribbean island and we were in
- 2:18Speaker 1: a casino in a Caribbean island, and we let these
- 2:22Speaker 1: guys drive us home back to our hotel, and like,
- 2:25Speaker 1: I am surprised that I still have a kidney, Like
- 2:28Speaker 1: I don't know why something like.
- 2:30Speaker 3: That I went home with guys. I mean, if we're
- 2:32Speaker 3: going to just be honest, like looking back now in
- 2:35Speaker 3: my twenties and I was like, woohoo, Yeah, I mean
- 2:40Speaker 3: why would yeah drive whatever? Anyway, I was a bit
- 2:45Speaker 3: of a hoe. But that's like a home makes.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Me scared anyway.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Just trust that your children will make decently good decisions
- 2:54Speaker 1: and say no to drugs anyway.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Drugs, yes, especially now ly it's that's a whole other
- 3:01Speaker 3: topic that maybe we'll talk about. But I have a
- 3:03Speaker 3: very dear friend whose sun died of fentanyl.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Oh right, that's the one that you wear the sweatshirts
- 3:10Speaker 1: being Jack happy to Jack.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Yeah, my friend Brady, it's that's another Maybe she'll come on.
- 3:16Speaker 3: That's another episode. It's a scary, serious topic. Then we
- 3:20Speaker 3: have today today, we have some fun things to talk about.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I am so excited for our guests because I feel
- 3:27Speaker 1: like her her trajectory has been so multifaceted, like we
- 3:31Speaker 1: can talk about one thing, we could talk about, another
- 3:33Speaker 1: thing we could talk about.
- 3:34Speaker 2: She's very interesting and she was not on my radar
- 3:36Speaker 2: at all.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Yeah. Well no, if I'm being on she wasn't. But
- 3:42Speaker 3: her publicist and I are good friends, and so as
- 3:47Speaker 3: soon as he started telling me about her, I became
- 3:50Speaker 3: very interested quickly because she is she is so interesting.
- 3:53Speaker 3: She has also had her toe dipped in this world
- 3:57Speaker 3: that wear it not just dipped. I guess she was
- 3:59Speaker 3: on the housewid of Toronto. You guys, So today we
- 4:03Speaker 3: are talking to Roxy Earl. And by the way, the
- 4:05Speaker 3: only reason I hadn't heard of her is because I
- 4:07Speaker 3: never watched the housewivese of Toronto. It was only on
- 4:09Speaker 3: Right Sane.
- 4:10Speaker 2: But if you had, you could know her because she
- 4:13Speaker 2: was a standout.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yes, she was a standout. And Roxy did the one
- 4:18Speaker 3: and only season of Housewives of Toronto wait, let me
- 4:21Speaker 3: actually correct myself there maybe the one and only season.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Thinking maybe not the one and only season, but we'll
- 4:26Speaker 3: talk to her about that. So this women is really
- 4:30Speaker 3: just the coolest you guys. So she has used her
- 4:33Speaker 3: platform to raise awareness about body positivity and that is
- 4:37Speaker 3: certainly a topic that Jack, you and I both are very,
- 4:41Speaker 3: very interested in. Also women's empowerment. She is the world's
- 4:47Speaker 3: first AI styling coach to get men ready for dates.
- 4:52Speaker 3: So I would not want to. I would definitely not
- 4:54Speaker 3: want to switch positions with her. That's not something I
- 4:56Speaker 3: would ever be at all interested in. But I am
- 4:59Speaker 3: fascinated as to why she would do it and what
- 5:02Speaker 3: she's discovered. See. She's also the co founder of anna Health,
- 5:06Speaker 3: which is actually.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Which is really like something that I can relate to
- 5:10Speaker 1: having had.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Did you have any fertility problems?
- 5:13Speaker 3: No, I didn't.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I mean I went through five rounds of IVF myself,
- 5:16Speaker 1: and I experienced a lot of dramatic ups and downs
- 5:21Speaker 1: with fertility. Anyone who's been on that journey knows what
- 5:24Speaker 1: I'm talking about. There are very dark days, there's a
- 5:27Speaker 1: lot of physical and mental implications of going through fertility treatments.
- 5:34Speaker 2: So I cannot wait to talk to her about this.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I mean, between the body positivity and the fertility app,
- 5:40Speaker 1: I feel like I could talk to her probably for
- 5:42Speaker 1: a month. So let's see. So she's the co founder
- 5:47Speaker 1: of anna Health. It's called Annahealth and it's an app
- 5:49Speaker 1: that she developed with her husband, doctor Arnold, to provide
- 5:52Speaker 1: expert fertility care at home. What an interesting woman. I
- 5:56Speaker 1: can't wait to talk to her. So everyone rocks here.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Hi, Roxy, We are so excited to have you.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Hi, pretty lady, my favorite girls from Jersey.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Oh, so you're in Toronto right now.
- 6:12Speaker 4: No, I'm at my house in Beverly Hills. Oh, I
- 6:15Speaker 4: love you right now.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah. But you have two homes.
- 6:20Speaker 3: You live in Beverly Hills and Toronto. Mm hmm, well
- 6:23Speaker 3: that seems ideal.
- 6:24Speaker 5: I mean, I go back and forth. But I'm spending
- 6:26Speaker 5: a lot of time here in La right now. So
- 6:29Speaker 5: it's very fabulous. It's pretty cold in Toronto right now.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Yeah, and Jersey too, Yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 1: But it's starting it's starting that warm up. Anyway, enough
- 6:40Speaker 1: small talk. We have so many questions for you.
- 6:43Speaker 4: I'm just so excited to be on here for copy
- 6:46Speaker 4: on your pod.
- 6:47Speaker 3: We are so excited.
- 6:49Speaker 4: It's amazing, really fun.
- 6:52Speaker 2: So let's have fun, all right, get some fun? Okay,
- 6:56Speaker 2: So can we start with the Real Housewives of Toronto?
- 6:59Speaker 3: Yes?
- 7:00Speaker 4: Always like is this real?
- 7:01Speaker 1: Man? Right?
- 7:03Speaker 2: Did you love it? What were your feelings about? It
- 7:06Speaker 2: was only one season?
- 7:07Speaker 3: Right?
- 7:07Speaker 2: What year twenty seventeen?
- 7:09Speaker 4: I can't remember. It's been a blarus since then.
- 7:11Speaker 5: Okay, in one season. I had no idea what I
- 7:15Speaker 5: was doing. Like all of us when we do the Housewives,
- 7:17Speaker 5: I don't think we actually know what we're doing.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:20Speaker 5: Yes, I would say, you're like, yes, fabulous, let's do it,
- 7:24Speaker 5: and then you're like, what the hell has happened?
- 7:27Speaker 3: Yes?
- 7:28Speaker 5: And it was so much fun. It was insanity. I
- 7:32Speaker 5: loved it. I had a really great experience. And then
- 7:34Speaker 5: when the show came out, I mean, how do you say,
- 7:38Speaker 5: you're like the loved one? Like, you know what, Favorite's
- 7:44Speaker 5: like a really nice experience for me because I would
- 7:47Speaker 5: go out in my city and you know what, it's like,
- 7:49Speaker 5: everybody is so excited to see you. It was such
- 7:53Speaker 5: a whirlwind. And then I like put the show to rest.
- 7:57Speaker 5: I literally my career took off after that. All of
- 8:01Speaker 5: these things happen. I never thought I would be doing
- 8:04Speaker 5: the Housewives again, and I really just put it to
- 8:07Speaker 5: rest in my mind, and I think, like, that's when
- 8:09Speaker 5: Bravo comes calling. Is when you're like they're like, oh,
- 8:13Speaker 5: expecting it right now. And then all of a sudden,
- 8:16Speaker 5: I didn't know where. They come back and they're like,
- 8:17Speaker 5: we want to reboot the Housewives.
- 8:19Speaker 4: But all when was this you?
- 8:21Speaker 2: This was like a bit ago, a year ago, so
- 8:23Speaker 2: ago that this is happening.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Oh well no wait, ladies, I cannot confirm anything, but
- 8:29Speaker 4: I can.
- 8:30Speaker 5: I will give you this tea which I haven't shared
- 8:33Speaker 5: with anyone, which is what happened. So they come and
- 8:35Speaker 5: they're like, we want to do this whole reboot around you,
- 8:38Speaker 5: your life, all these amazing entrepreneurs that you know, and
- 8:42Speaker 5: all these fabulous women who are like your actual friends
- 8:45Speaker 5: because you know, some girls on the show were my
- 8:46Speaker 5: friends and some girls were not.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Yeah, we definitely know how that is.
- 8:51Speaker 5: Yeah, let's get into that after tip, because I have
- 8:54Speaker 5: a lot of questions for you.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:56Speaker 5: And so they come back and they're like, I'm literally
- 9:00Speaker 5: have a new I'm like married with two babies. No,
- 9:04Speaker 5: that life left behind the one that was aired on TV.
- 9:08Speaker 5: So it was like a whole new life that I'm
- 9:09Speaker 5: now leading, and they're like, we want to film this.
- 9:13Speaker 5: We've shoot this amazing pilot. We've shoot the first episode.
- 9:17Speaker 5: It's so juicy. I've seen it. It's spicy.
- 9:20Speaker 3: I mean, like, so you're really in it though you
- 9:22Speaker 3: shot the pilot, like this is happening. Are you filmed
- 9:25Speaker 3: more than the pilot?
- 9:27Speaker 4: I cannot say, but I will say yes.
- 9:30Speaker 5: I mean maybe not Jersey like your last episode of
- 9:35Speaker 5: New Jersey.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Not like quite there.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Oh god, that thank god, just like a disasa.
- 9:42Speaker 5: We'll get into it. So it wasn't that, but it
- 9:44Speaker 5: was exciting. And then that's all I know. And now
- 9:48Speaker 5: it's with the universe and I have no idea what's
- 9:51Speaker 5: going to happen. And then since then, some amazing things
- 9:55Speaker 5: are happening with my business. So I'm like spending a
- 9:57Speaker 5: lot of time in la and I just don't know
- 9:58Speaker 5: what's going to happen.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Like in the.
- 10:01Speaker 5: Limbo fats and everyone's talking about how I'm coming back
- 10:03Speaker 5: to the housewives, and I'm like, I don't know.
- 10:05Speaker 4: I'm not lying to I don't know.
- 10:07Speaker 3: You know who we are right now, we're the same
- 10:10Speaker 3: feel about filming.
- 10:13Speaker 4: My husband loves it.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Oh really, you.
- 10:16Speaker 5: Loved like he's he's like a famous doctor, Like he's
- 10:20Speaker 5: got this whole personality that's like this whole thing, and
- 10:24Speaker 5: he would never have thought of anything like this. And
- 10:27Speaker 5: then when they wanted to film our lives, I said,
- 10:29Speaker 5: the only rule, there is only one role.
- 10:32Speaker 4: We just have to be if we want to do this.
- 10:35Speaker 5: It's like one hundred percent ourselves, Like it only works
- 10:39Speaker 5: if you're not pretending to be something you want to be.
- 10:42Speaker 5: And he's so comfortable in his own skin and he's
- 10:44Speaker 5: such a confident guy that it worked.
- 10:46Speaker 4: We worked really well. We had so much fun.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Like it was like, Oh, what kind of doctor is he?
- 10:52Speaker 4: He's the most incredible fertility doctor in the world.
- 10:55Speaker 3: He makes me that's okay, so right, that's why you
- 10:57Speaker 3: made with him.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Did he know who you were when he met you?
- 11:01Speaker 4: No, he had no idea who I was. He'd never
- 11:04Speaker 4: heard of the Housewives, never seen it.
- 11:07Speaker 5: I mean, it was just this whirlwind romance and we
- 11:12Speaker 5: fell in love and it was like the most beautiful story.
- 11:14Speaker 5: But he'd never seen the Housewives. We didn't watch The
- 11:17Speaker 5: Housewives of Toronto until actually we were like eight months
- 11:20Speaker 5: pregnant with our first child. In like the depths of
- 11:23Speaker 5: Covid being like, you know what we should do?
- 11:25Speaker 4: We should see the Housewives, and.
- 11:26Speaker 5: He's like, what is this? He's like this is so fun.
- 11:30Speaker 5: He's like, you're so good at this, you should do
- 11:32Speaker 5: this more. I'm sort of like, you know, when you
- 11:34Speaker 5: don't know if you're getting another show, you kind of
- 11:36Speaker 5: just are like, I don't I'm done with TV.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Do you guys know how that feels.
- 11:40Speaker 2: We're sort of on pause, so kind of yeah, yeah,
- 11:44Speaker 2: but you went back stack.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I think both of us would like to. But
- 11:50Speaker 3: I think that also for us because things are so near,
- 11:53Speaker 3: there is a part of me and it's like you
- 11:55Speaker 3: have to kind of let it go. It's it's yeah,
- 11:57Speaker 3: I would.
- 11:57Speaker 2: I would go back if it changed, if our cast changed.
- 12:00Speaker 4: For sure, who would you go back with? Because that's
- 12:03Speaker 4: what they.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Said, We're not that's turning this around on us, lady, No, no, no,
- 12:08Speaker 3: what you are on this podcast.
- 12:10Speaker 1: It's not that I would go back with like certain friends.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I'd go back with anyone who is open to letting
- 12:15Speaker 1: go of past feuds because if they're not, then you're
- 12:19Speaker 1: just gonna fight and fight and fight, and then it's
- 12:21Speaker 1: not enjoyable and life is too short to do the
- 12:23Speaker 1: shit that's not enjoyable.
- 12:25Speaker 5: Right if it doesn't bring joy like we were getting
- 12:28Speaker 5: ourselves into. But that's what I said to them when
- 12:30Speaker 5: they came back. I said, no, no, I don't want
- 12:32Speaker 5: to do anything. My life is incredible. I don't want
- 12:34Speaker 5: to do anything that's not fun or that's twice or
- 12:37Speaker 5: not positive.
- 12:39Speaker 1: You know that the show is going to be dramatic.
- 12:41Speaker 1: You know there's going to be like a little fighting
- 12:43Speaker 1: and everything. But if you could be on the show
- 12:46Speaker 1: with people who know how to like let it go
- 12:49Speaker 1: and learn a lesson from it and move forward, then
- 12:51Speaker 1: it's an enjoyable experience, even though you know what you're
- 12:53Speaker 1: getting into. It's when people can't let go of anything
- 12:56Speaker 1: and the fights just keep going that it's like NonStop fighting,
- 12:59Speaker 1: and then it's strained.
- 13:00Speaker 5: It's everyone says, and you guys must know this because
- 13:03Speaker 5: they say to you, oh, is it real?
- 13:06Speaker 4: And it's the most real thing like And the problem.
- 13:10Speaker 5: Is is that everyone's like, oh, well, it's it's a
- 13:12Speaker 5: TV show, So you can't like turn it off and
- 13:15Speaker 5: go home and then forget about everything just happened that day.
- 13:18Speaker 4: It like becoming when it's your real life.
- 13:21Speaker 3: When I started, they the producer said to me, your
- 13:24Speaker 3: job is who say everything you think? So right, So like,
- 13:29Speaker 3: if I'm not on the Real Housewives of New Jersey
- 13:33Speaker 3: and I think someone's an asshole, I don't probably going
- 13:35Speaker 3: to keep it to myself, right, But the job is
- 13:37Speaker 3: to say what you're thinking. And so it's a very
- 13:40Speaker 3: it's a very strange, like alternate universe, but it can.
- 13:43Speaker 3: It's I think it's brought all three of us. You know,
- 13:46Speaker 3: lots of joy.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Okay, so questions about Toronto.
- 13:56Speaker 1: So so of the people on your original cast, you
- 14:00Speaker 1: ate in touch with some of them or you're not
- 14:01Speaker 1: in touch with any of them.
- 14:03Speaker 5: I stayed in touch with a few, and they're like
- 14:04Speaker 5: dear friends who I love, Like.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Baby coming back with you were born? No one was. No.
- 14:11Speaker 5: The whole thing when they brought it back to me
- 14:14Speaker 5: was when I did the show, I was a lot
- 14:16Speaker 5: younger and a lot different phase of my life than
- 14:18Speaker 5: some of the other women.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Rochie, how old are you? You look so young?
- 14:22Speaker 4: Fun now?
- 14:23Speaker 3: How old?
- 14:23Speaker 4: I did forty one?
- 14:25Speaker 3: Oh wow? I thought you were like thirty, me too,
- 14:28Speaker 3: Look at you go.
- 14:30Speaker 5: Girls Korean skincare and so I just when I did
- 14:35Speaker 5: the show, though I was like in my early thirties,
- 14:37Speaker 5: and honestly everyone was in there was at least in
- 14:40Speaker 5: their forties or in their late forties at that time,
- 14:43Speaker 5: and so we were just at different phases in our life.
- 14:46Speaker 5: And I think when they came back to me what
- 14:48Speaker 5: they said, because at first when they came back, I.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Said, absolutely not.
- 14:51Speaker 5: Like the housewives, as you know, can be very toxic,
- 14:55Speaker 5: and so I'm very interested in putting positivity out into
- 14:59Speaker 5: the world. So they said to me, well, what if
- 15:01Speaker 5: it was the real people that you spend time with,
- 15:04Speaker 5: the real networks that you have, like other women doing interesting,
- 15:07Speaker 5: fabulous things.
- 15:09Speaker 4: And I was like, yeah, but I know how you
- 15:12Speaker 4: sell it.
- 15:13Speaker 5: And then next thing you know, I'm like someone's throwing
- 15:15Speaker 5: a drink in my face. And so I said it
- 15:17Speaker 5: has to be like I understand if you put fabulous
- 15:21Speaker 5: women together, there is natural drama, but I don't want
- 15:23Speaker 5: anything that's going to be I don't want any people
- 15:27Speaker 5: that are like they're not good people, you know what
- 15:30Speaker 5: I mean, Like they're toxic people, Like there's nothing you
- 15:33Speaker 5: could do that was good with them. And so they
- 15:35Speaker 5: said okay, and they cast the most incredible group of
- 15:39Speaker 5: women and it was like, really, did our city proud?
- 15:43Speaker 5: So I hope it makes it to the air. I
- 15:45Speaker 5: don't know though, that's the tea. No one knows that, yeah,
- 15:48Speaker 5: by every journalist, and I have not answered that. I'm
- 15:51Speaker 5: sure my publicist is saying, stop talking.
- 15:53Speaker 1: But well, we don't want to get you in trouble.
- 15:57Speaker 4: But it's just it is what it is. Truth.
- 16:00Speaker 5: I filmed something. I hope people get to see it.
- 16:02Speaker 5: If they don't, life is so.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Fabulous, Well so don't get to see it. We'll do
- 16:06Speaker 3: a private screening maybe.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, So Roxie, when you were on your first season,
- 16:11Speaker 1: you were very well known for being very body positive?
- 16:16Speaker 1: Was that? And I have so many questions about that
- 16:18Speaker 1: because I recovered publicly from a twenty year battle with
- 16:22Speaker 1: anarexia on the air and now I'm like an activist
- 16:26Speaker 1: for it for recovery. But tell me about like were
- 16:31Speaker 1: the was the public very supportive or did you get
- 16:36Speaker 1: mean comments?
- 16:37Speaker 2: What was the experience like then? And where are you
- 16:40Speaker 2: now in that journey?
- 16:41Speaker 5: Whoa, it's such like a big like, first of all,
- 16:44Speaker 5: congratulations for me, thank you to get to a point
- 16:47Speaker 5: where you're able to openly talk about something that can
- 16:50Speaker 5: be very challenging and painful. So the thing is is
- 16:54Speaker 5: that when I did The Housewives, I had no idea
- 16:57Speaker 5: my body would be such a topic of conversation.
- 17:00Speaker 4: On the show.
- 17:01Speaker 5: And in my first interview, we sit down with Entertainment
- 17:04Speaker 5: Tonight and she says, how does it feel to be
- 17:07Speaker 5: the first plus size housewife? And I'm like what, Like, wow,
- 17:12Speaker 5: can you imagine like all of the shame that's wrapped
- 17:15Speaker 5: up in that word?
- 17:16Speaker 2: Right?
- 17:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm looking at.
- 17:18Speaker 5: Myself and I'm thinking like I didn't. I had never
- 17:22Speaker 5: identified like I knew I was curvier than some of
- 17:25Speaker 5: the other Like Okay, look, I've led my whole life
- 17:28Speaker 5: in a society.
- 17:29Speaker 4: World where I go to events.
- 17:30Speaker 5: I go to Galla's, everyone's a size zero and everyone
- 17:33Speaker 5: looked a certain way, and then there's me.
- 17:35Speaker 4: But I never kind of felt of myself as like
- 17:39Speaker 4: the plus size.
- 17:40Speaker 5: One, Like I'd never It's certainly not something i'd openly said.
- 17:44Speaker 5: And I actually in that moment it was like I had.
- 17:47Speaker 5: It was like she had like daggers to my heart,
- 17:50Speaker 5: Like I understand that it was such a shameful thing
- 17:54Speaker 5: because in my mind, I'm thinking, all these people are
- 17:57Speaker 5: going to see me on the housewive, They're gonna see
- 17:59Speaker 5: me this fabulous life, Like it's gonna be amazing every
- 18:03Speaker 5: guy I've turned out, every job I've been fired from, Like,
- 18:07Speaker 5: you're all gonna see me.
- 18:08Speaker 4: And then she's like, and you're plus.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Size and.
- 18:12Speaker 3: That is so completely messed up, Like I am trying
- 18:15Speaker 3: to picture a scenario where you didn't even discuss that beforehand,
- 18:19Speaker 3: and she just pulls that out.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Yeah, And so I turned to her. It just came
- 18:25Speaker 4: out of me.
- 18:26Speaker 5: I said, I'm not plus size, I'm my size and
- 18:29Speaker 5: hashtag my size rocks because I was like, who are
- 18:34Speaker 5: you to label me?
- 18:35Speaker 4: Like this is my size. You don't get to put me.
- 18:38Speaker 5: In whatever box that has been clearly orchestrated around me.
- 18:42Speaker 4: And in that moment, I just like owned.
- 18:46Speaker 5: I just had like a split second to decide to
- 18:49Speaker 5: how to react, and I guess just like my instinct was,
- 18:53Speaker 5: this is.
- 18:53Speaker 4: My body, this is my story. I'm gonna own this well.
- 18:57Speaker 5: I can't even tell you. Like it was like that
- 18:59Speaker 5: a movement was born. I became because I was sharing openly.
- 19:04Speaker 5: I would be going on a press tour and like
- 19:07Speaker 5: stylists are trying to put me in these designer dresses.
- 19:10Speaker 4: Nothing fits.
- 19:10Speaker 5: I'm trying to like zip it up, it's like breaking
- 19:12Speaker 5: on the seams. And I was like, this is crazy,
- 19:16Speaker 5: and so I just started designing my own clothes for
- 19:18Speaker 5: my own use. Fashion company was born. I became like
- 19:23Speaker 5: the face of inclusive fashion. I was the first person
- 19:25Speaker 5: to put extra small the three x in one store
- 19:28Speaker 5: at the same price, and I demanded that the retailer be, like,
- 19:33Speaker 5: not put this at like a plus size store in
- 19:35Speaker 5: the basement.
- 19:36Speaker 4: I was like, I.
- 19:36Speaker 5: Don't want women to experience the shame I feel when
- 19:39Speaker 5: you make me go to some other store for special
- 19:42Speaker 5: big girls. And I just really was one of the
- 19:45Speaker 5: first people to do that, and it began to you know,
- 19:49Speaker 5: some people call me an advocate. I don't know what
- 19:51Speaker 5: they call me, but I was. I was I was
- 19:55Speaker 5: going to make sure that women didn't have that same
- 19:58Speaker 5: negative experience that I had had special moments in their life.
- 20:01Speaker 5: I designed wedding gowns, dresses for events like anything.
- 20:05Speaker 2: You have background in design, No, I have no idea
- 20:08Speaker 2: you had.
- 20:09Speaker 3: You had no idea. You just started designing straight out
- 20:11Speaker 3: of just because.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Wow the brand and was.
- 20:16Speaker 5: Like, I need to do this, here's my vision. And
- 20:19Speaker 5: I and it really really did well, and so many
- 20:23Speaker 5: amazing collections, swimwhear everything. But what was interesting is like
- 20:28Speaker 5: I was I stepped into it, but I was also
- 20:33Speaker 5: like figuring it out on my own, like I was
- 20:36Speaker 5: stepping into my confidence weirdly with the shared experience with
- 20:40Speaker 5: the audience and with the viewers and social media, like
- 20:44Speaker 5: I was going through it with them. I was trying
- 20:47Speaker 5: on Jeanes that I'd never worn before. I was discovering
- 20:50Speaker 5: clothes that would actually fit me in brands I was designing,
- 20:53Speaker 5: and I was having moments that were all they shared
- 20:57Speaker 5: these moments. So I was like, I have a wedding
- 20:59Speaker 5: coming out. I need something like red black tie to wear.
- 21:03Speaker 5: Can't find a dress that fits a size twelve anywhere
- 21:09Speaker 5: the time, twelve was huge, and so.
- 21:12Speaker 2: At twelve was huge, but I always think of twelve.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Well maybe not anymore, but like I just remember Oprah
- 21:17Speaker 3: saying once I would die to fit into a twelve.
- 21:21Speaker 2: She wheeled out the medium size.
- 21:24Speaker 5: So much has happened in a few years when it
- 21:26Speaker 5: comes to inclusivity, and so it was just crazy. And
- 21:30Speaker 5: then what was happening, which was this really kind of
- 21:33Speaker 5: dark other side of it was at home I was
- 21:36Speaker 5: with this like older finance guy who was not happy
- 21:43Speaker 5: to be known as the plus size girls.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Partner, and so my like, I wasn't technically.
- 21:51Speaker 5: Married, but I had a wedding and everything. So you know,
- 21:54Speaker 5: just anyways, this is we need a whole podcast for
- 21:57Speaker 5: that relationship.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd like to dig in there, but I.
- 22:00Speaker 5: Had the full relationship and by all means, I was
- 22:03Speaker 5: very committed to it. And I just he was interested
- 22:06Speaker 5: in this young girl and this like trophy wife, and
- 22:11Speaker 5: my body was with all the travel and the stress
- 22:15Speaker 5: and the excitement and everything, I was eating a lot
- 22:18Speaker 5: to feel good and I was gaining weight. So it
- 22:20Speaker 5: was it was like I stepped into this role and
- 22:23Speaker 5: then also was gaining weight. And then at home, my
- 22:26Speaker 5: confidence was just being deteriorated because he hated my size
- 22:30Speaker 5: and he was like, you're fat, You're ugly, I won't
- 22:33Speaker 5: sleep with you. And I'm like having this private experience
- 22:39Speaker 5: of sh like all this shame and low self esteem.
- 22:43Speaker 5: And then on the next day, I'm waking up and
- 22:44Speaker 5: getting into a swimsuit I designed with a bunch of
- 22:47Speaker 5: models I picked who all have bodies that look like
- 22:51Speaker 5: something I can identify with. And then literally shooting a
- 22:54Speaker 5: campaign that's going to be on a billboard talking about confidence.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Right, it doesn't work when your life's not in sync
- 22:59Speaker 2: like that. What happened?
- 23:01Speaker 4: When you talk about what was the experience?
- 23:03Speaker 5: It's been such a journey in this time since I've
- 23:07Speaker 5: done the show, I've put on weight. I've now lost
- 23:09Speaker 5: sixty pounds in a very hodiful way. I had two children,
- 23:14Speaker 5: I got remarried, I fell in love, I built an app,
- 23:18Speaker 5: I built a company, and it's all just happened out
- 23:21Speaker 5: of just letting go of all the toxicity and just
- 23:25Speaker 5: being fully.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Confident in who I am.
- 23:27Speaker 5: And now my body is a beautiful twelve again, and
- 23:32Speaker 5: I'm happy and I own every aspect of who I am.
- 23:36Speaker 5: And along the way, thousands and thousands and thousands of
- 23:39Speaker 5: women have felt a sense of empowerment.
- 23:42Speaker 4: So it's been this weird journey. I love that.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Can I go back to the show for one second.
- 23:55Speaker 1: I just have a question, two questions, Why was it canceled?
- 24:00Speaker 1: And also were you devastated when it was canceled.
- 24:05Speaker 5: I really wanted it to come back because it felt
- 24:08Speaker 5: like my only lifeline at the moment when I did
- 24:11Speaker 5: the show, and the show came out.
- 24:13Speaker 4: It was like I knew it was my out if
- 24:17Speaker 4: that makes sense from the relationship that I was in.
- 24:19Speaker 5: So I was I had this like high flying career
- 24:22Speaker 5: when I was young, living all over the world working
- 24:24Speaker 5: and advertising for American Express, and I was like, I
- 24:28Speaker 5: had a pretty big career. And then this guy was like,
- 24:30Speaker 5: I don't want you to work, and he's like, it
- 24:34Speaker 5: makes more sense for you to travel with me and
- 24:36Speaker 5: be with me, and you don't need money.
- 24:38Speaker 3: So where's this guy now? I just have to know.
- 24:40Speaker 2: I feel like he's a villain character and like Bonfire
- 24:43Speaker 2: the Vanities, not a bad.
- 24:44Speaker 5: Person, but he was suffering from a lot of addiction
- 24:47Speaker 5: and a lot of things that made.
- 24:48Speaker 4: Him do some very mean and cruel things.
- 24:50Speaker 3: But I don't very magnanimous of you.
- 24:53Speaker 5: Wow, it wasn't for that journey, I would have never
- 24:58Speaker 5: ended up with my husband. My husband is literally he
- 25:01Speaker 5: was the tax on this beautiful love I have. Now
- 25:05Speaker 5: I have beautiful times with him, but there were some
- 25:08Speaker 5: very toxic times.
- 25:10Speaker 4: But he made me into this powerful.
- 25:12Speaker 5: Woman that I was a bit of already, but it
- 25:15Speaker 5: just magnified.
- 25:17Speaker 4: So I thank him.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Wow, that's very evolved. I still curse all my ex boyfriends.
- 25:25Speaker 5: No, I really am grateful that I went through experiences
- 25:30Speaker 5: that taught me what love is supposed to look like,
- 25:32Speaker 5: what life, How I can live life like.
- 25:35Speaker 4: I learned a lot and it brought me to my
- 25:38Speaker 4: now husband.
- 25:39Speaker 5: And so I if I go back to the show
- 25:42Speaker 5: at that moment that no one ever canceled us.
- 25:46Speaker 4: It wasn't like you're canceled. It's like they put us
- 25:48Speaker 4: on hold.
- 25:49Speaker 5: And I was like, when does the whole end? Do
- 25:58Speaker 5: I start shopping for next season? Do I start like
- 26:00Speaker 5: getting ready, like I mean limbo? And so I was
- 26:05Speaker 5: in limbo for a long time and very attached to
- 26:07Speaker 5: the idea because it felt like my only way out.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Did the other ladies feel like that too, Like they
- 26:13Speaker 1: were just waiting and waiting and waiting.
- 26:16Speaker 5: And everyone kept on waiting and waiting and waiting and saying.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Oh, when did you guys like stop waiting?
- 26:21Speaker 4: One day, I just stopped waiting.
- 26:22Speaker 5: It was like a relationship, you know, it's like a
- 26:25Speaker 5: weird relationship.
- 26:26Speaker 4: I just stopped waiting one day.
- 26:27Speaker 5: I was like this, people are never calling me, like
- 26:29Speaker 5: I don't know what's happening. And we had a lot
- 26:33Speaker 5: of complications with our cast.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Let's say, how do we say that?
- 26:39Speaker 3: Just like that? I think that's a perfect way of
- 26:40Speaker 3: putting it. Only you guys, with our listeners, I'm sure
- 26:45Speaker 3: we as well know we have an inkling about what
- 26:47Speaker 3: you're talking about. We know what complications.
- 26:50Speaker 5: Let's say this in the world of housewives, it's great
- 26:54Speaker 5: for drama, juicy the women who have no self awareness,
- 26:58Speaker 5: they make great TV.
- 27:00Speaker 4: But the drama can't be drama.
- 27:04Speaker 5: That actually interferes with you making a TV show, right
- 27:07Speaker 5: exactly same like it's supposed to still be fun, ladies,
- 27:11Speaker 5: and when it goes too far, it's and you have
- 27:14Speaker 5: like all of this stuff happening in people's private lives
- 27:17Speaker 5: that is like from the show, but now it's happening
- 27:21Speaker 5: off screen.
- 27:21Speaker 4: That's not useful for producers. And so when you have
- 27:27Speaker 4: all of these things going on.
- 27:28Speaker 5: In the background that are insane, it makes it difficult
- 27:33Speaker 5: for producers to make a TV show, which at the
- 27:37Speaker 5: end of the day, you need people to show up
- 27:38Speaker 5: and start filming a TV show.
- 27:39Speaker 4: You're like, where are you?
- 27:41Speaker 5: Because I hate her and I'm doing her and it's like,
- 27:43Speaker 5: well wait, what so.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Can I ask you a question? And please if I'm overstepping,
- 27:50Speaker 1: you do not have to answer. But being somebody who's
- 27:53Speaker 1: body positive and I come from a world where I
- 27:56Speaker 1: used to be much thinner than I am now I
- 27:58Speaker 1: am not considered like overweight, but I definitely feel the
- 28:03Speaker 1: way game. How what do you ever get tempted by
- 28:07Speaker 1: the all the new diet drugs, especially now that you're
- 28:10Speaker 1: going to be back on TV.
- 28:11Speaker 2: What are your thoughts on that?
- 28:13Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, how could you not be tempted? It's like,
- 28:18Speaker 5: but also I want to like release this shame about.
- 28:22Speaker 2: This, Like, no, no shame about it, just question.
- 28:25Speaker 5: Even Okay for me, I've had a really complex journey
- 28:29Speaker 5: with food and loving my body and falling.
- 28:31Speaker 4: In love with myself.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Welcome me.
- 28:34Speaker 4: I had to do this my way.
- 28:35Speaker 5: I had to do this in a way that was sustainable,
- 28:39Speaker 5: and that was about my health and my relationship with food.
- 28:43Speaker 4: And I've spent years doing that.
- 28:45Speaker 5: And I really am at a point where I feel
- 28:49Speaker 5: incredible and healthy. I birthed two beautiful children in my
- 28:53Speaker 5: late thirties, Like it was, it's been a transformation that
- 28:57Speaker 5: everybody's watched. That being said, I courage every single human
- 29:01Speaker 5: being to do whatever they need to do to get healthy.
- 29:05Speaker 5: It's like really challenging food stuff, overeating, struggling with your way.
- 29:11Speaker 4: This stuff is hard to manage.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Yes, it is. You are preaching to the court, singing
- 29:15Speaker 3: to the court, preaching to schools that.
- 29:17Speaker 4: Are going to make you feel good.
- 29:19Speaker 5: Do it, and just don't look at other people and say, oh,
- 29:23Speaker 5: because she leads this life, it's easy for her, but
- 29:26Speaker 5: not for me. It's not easy. It's not easy for people.
- 29:30Speaker 5: But it's very tempting for people to look at someone's
- 29:33Speaker 5: life on social media and say, oh, well, because she's rich,
- 29:36Speaker 5: or she has a chef, or she has this.
- 29:39Speaker 4: I don't have a chef.
- 29:39Speaker 5: First of all, I have I run a startup, and
- 29:43Speaker 5: I have two babies.
- 29:44Speaker 4: I have a lot. I'm busy as well.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Are you getting that kind of backlash?
- 29:47Speaker 3: Are people being haters?
- 29:49Speaker 5: They're not haters, but they're like, well, it's easy for
- 29:51Speaker 5: you to say you lost the way, you have a trainer,
- 29:53Speaker 5: you have this, and.
- 29:54Speaker 3: I'm like, not easy.
- 29:55Speaker 5: Period a single morning after not sleeping with a newborn
- 30:00Speaker 5: and worked out. I worked out till the day before
- 30:03Speaker 5: I gave birth. I've been watching to eat, like, so,
- 30:07Speaker 5: don't look at other people's lives and say oh, because
- 30:11Speaker 5: it's them.
- 30:12Speaker 4: They can do it, but.
- 30:13Speaker 2: I can't do it.
- 30:14Speaker 4: That doesn't serve you.
- 30:15Speaker 5: My message to everyone is just take ownership of your
- 30:20Speaker 5: own health.
- 30:20Speaker 4: Don't blame anyone.
- 30:22Speaker 2: It is on you.
- 30:23Speaker 4: We all go through.
- 30:24Speaker 5: Bad things, a lot of people are victims of horrible stuff.
- 30:27Speaker 5: That doesn't mean that you can't take control of your life.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:32Speaker 2: So that's when I say, with that, does that answer it? Yeah? Yeah,
- 30:35Speaker 2: for sure.
- 30:35Speaker 1: I mean, listen, it's basically everybody has to do what's
- 30:38Speaker 1: right for their own life.
- 30:40Speaker 5: And if you're tempted, explore it, talk about it with
- 30:42Speaker 5: your doctor. It might be great for you. I would
- 30:45Speaker 5: one hundred percent be I tell everyone I would be
- 30:48Speaker 5: open with doing anything. I want to do all the
- 30:51Speaker 5: things to be the best, and I'm not going to experience.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Any shame around them. And I think that's the weird
- 30:57Speaker 4: part is people being like and I'm like what, And I'm.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Like, oh.
- 31:05Speaker 2: My god.
- 31:06Speaker 3: You know it's changed already just in the short amount
- 31:10Speaker 3: of time.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Whispering about it.
- 31:12Speaker 5: I'd be telling you it's like when you got a
- 31:14Speaker 5: great new skincare serum.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Friends not high at Yeah.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Well, in the very short time that ozempic and and
- 31:21Speaker 3: drugs like ozempic have been around. I think there's been
- 31:23Speaker 3: such a shift in the way that people do view them,
- 31:25Speaker 3: and I think a lot of that is because of
- 31:27Speaker 3: the fact that people are open. I think that that's
- 31:30Speaker 3: happened with things like plastic surgery. I think that the
- 31:33Speaker 3: more people are open about it, the less shame there is,
- 31:35Speaker 3: and every the attitude becomes whatever it is that makes
- 31:38Speaker 3: you happy, that makes you feel good. I mean that's
- 31:41Speaker 3: I've always been very open about all of those whatever
- 31:45Speaker 3: process or procedure I'm trying because like you, it's like
- 31:48Speaker 3: I like to share it. If it's making me feel good.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Who knows, maybe it'll make you feel good. But I
- 31:52Speaker 3: feel like there's the stigma has dropped out a little bit.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Although I have to be fully authentic, I'm not one
- 31:58Speaker 1: hundred percent on the everybody do what works for you thing.
- 32:02Speaker 1: I think there does need to be some more regulation
- 32:05Speaker 1: around who gets access to these kinds of drugs because
- 32:09Speaker 1: I think that if we encourage people who only have
- 32:12Speaker 1: five ten pounds to lose to go on these drugs,
- 32:15Speaker 1: and then you're stuck on them because when you come off,
- 32:17Speaker 1: you gain it back. You set people off on a
- 32:19Speaker 1: cycle of eating disorders and disordered eatings that I have
- 32:24Speaker 1: a vested in just in not seeing masses of people
- 32:29Speaker 1: journey into So I do think there needs to be
- 32:31Speaker 1: more regulation. And I don't stand behind people who don't
- 32:34Speaker 1: need the drugs going on them.
- 32:36Speaker 5: Yeah, like with a totally different lens, right, But I
- 32:41Speaker 5: would say to I answer your question the most honestly
- 32:43Speaker 5: I can. I don't know anyone who has struggled with
- 32:46Speaker 5: weight their whole life who isn't tempted by all of
- 32:49Speaker 5: these being bombarded by all the born afters of Look.
- 32:53Speaker 4: How amazing miracle.
- 32:55Speaker 5: But I have learned in every aspect of my life
- 32:58Speaker 5: that there is no miracle answer for anything.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Yeah, put in the hard work in everything.
- 33:04Speaker 5: That is the only way true, good, solid, long lasting
- 33:09Speaker 5: things are built. It is in relationships in your body.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Well, speaking of which, speaking of work that you put in,
- 33:17Speaker 3: tell us about your app please.
- 33:20Speaker 5: Oh gosh, this is another beautiful journey on our fertility app.
- 33:24Speaker 5: So my husband, who's this incredible fertility doctor, doctor Arnold,
- 33:30Speaker 5: he has a practice here in Beaveraly Hills now, and
- 33:33Speaker 5: when what was happening is all, first of all, everybody
- 33:36Speaker 5: wanted to see him and not everybody can see him
- 33:39Speaker 5: because he's in one place.
- 33:40Speaker 4: And so that combined with.
- 33:43Speaker 5: Our own journey of me being told before I met
- 33:47Speaker 5: Arnold that I would need IVS and I went to
- 33:50Speaker 5: two fancy doctors in California and they both said, you're
- 33:53Speaker 5: gonna need IVF, and I just so happened to fall
- 33:55Speaker 5: in love with the fertility doctor.
- 33:57Speaker 4: Ah oh, I love that. It was just like it
- 34:00Speaker 4: was perfect.
- 34:01Speaker 5: And I said to him almost like I think it
- 34:03Speaker 5: was our first date. I was like, well, I've been
- 34:05Speaker 5: told I need IVF and he was like, okay, well wait.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Were you Were you trying to get pregnant at the
- 34:11Speaker 2: time with your eggs? Oh, so you to see what
- 34:14Speaker 2: your fertility status was.
- 34:16Speaker 5: I wanted to freeze my eggs, oh got it, okay,
- 34:19Speaker 5: because I knew I wasn't having a baby anytime soon.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Yes, okay.
- 34:23Speaker 5: He had promised we would have kids for years and
- 34:25Speaker 5: years and years, and't it it just never Well, good thing,
- 34:29Speaker 5: thank god, And.
- 34:30Speaker 4: So I wanted to freeze my eggs.
- 34:32Speaker 5: I went to these doctors in California and both of
- 34:35Speaker 5: them are like, well, yeah, you're gonna need to freeze
- 34:37Speaker 5: your eggs and you're going to need to do IVF.
- 34:39Speaker 4: So it's a good thing you're here.
- 34:40Speaker 5: And I was very it's a big thing to carry
- 34:44Speaker 5: as a woman, and so when I was single, like,
- 34:47Speaker 5: that's a lot to carry on your shoulders. And so
- 34:49Speaker 5: I just so happened to fall in love with the
- 34:52Speaker 5: fertility doctor.
- 34:53Speaker 4: I'm telling him this story.
- 34:54Speaker 5: And so when we wanted when we were ready for children,
- 34:57Speaker 5: we he was like, before we do any IVF, first
- 35:03Speaker 5: of all, we're going to like make some changes. And
- 35:06Speaker 5: he really helped me like transform some lifestyle things, some diets,
- 35:10Speaker 5: some supplements. We started using like proper tracking. Most trackers
- 35:14Speaker 5: in apps are not accurate, so we were tracking my
- 35:17Speaker 5: ovulation correctly and low on behold, I got pregnant at
- 35:21Speaker 5: thirty eight naturally, and then I get up thirty nine naturally.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Wow.
- 35:25Speaker 4: And a lot of people.
- 35:26Speaker 5: Were interested in the story in our journey, and so
- 35:28Speaker 5: we turned his program into an app called on a Fertility,
- 35:33Speaker 5: which allows people to get pregnant at home. And what
- 35:37Speaker 5: it does is in the US, especially if you walk
- 35:41Speaker 5: into a fertility clinic to get advice about your fertility,
- 35:45Speaker 5: you're going to be sold IVF or you're going to
- 35:47Speaker 5: be sold egg freezing. It's like walking into a bakery
- 35:50Speaker 5: and not being sold bread, do you know what I mean?
- 35:53Speaker 5: And so IVF is like really over sold in this
- 35:56Speaker 5: country and we wanted to change that because not everybody
- 36:00Speaker 5: needs it. There is a lot of data around the
- 36:03Speaker 5: fact that a lot of people who are getting it
- 36:05Speaker 5: are getting it who would have otherwise got pregnant if
- 36:07Speaker 5: they made small changes in their life. Wow, well you
- 36:10Speaker 5: can do at home. We've done a lot of research
- 36:12Speaker 5: on this ourselves and done a lot of studies.
- 36:15Speaker 1: And I went through five rounds of IVF myself, so
- 36:18Speaker 1: I know, but I destroyed my fertility with my anorexia.
- 36:21Speaker 1: But so I think this is so useful and so
- 36:26Speaker 1: important because it is so texting on your body and
- 36:29Speaker 1: your mental health, your physical health.
- 36:32Speaker 2: It's really really difficult. Oh it's so expensive.
- 36:35Speaker 3: And you tell us, like one thing that you you
- 36:38Speaker 3: can suggest that's not you know, under the umbrella of
- 36:41Speaker 3: IVF that is helpful in terms of fertility, Like what
- 36:44Speaker 3: do you what is one of the things that you got.
- 36:45Speaker 4: Download anestly.
- 36:48Speaker 5: Download our app on a because what it does is
- 36:50Speaker 5: it takes you through all the aspects.
- 36:52Speaker 4: It's like it has you.
- 36:54Speaker 5: It's like linked to your wearable if you're using a
- 36:56Speaker 5: wearable and like tracking your your movement, your basal body temperature.
- 37:02Speaker 5: It talks about nutrition, about the types of workouts you
- 37:04Speaker 5: should be doing, a different types of your cycle. Our
- 37:07Speaker 5: hormone horoscopes tells you the kinds of things that you
- 37:09Speaker 5: need to be consuming and doing. We also have a
- 37:12Speaker 5: mental health piece for it, because stress is a huge
- 37:15Speaker 5: impact on fertility, and it's a craftful experience. So there's
- 37:19Speaker 5: like daily think, daily pump ups and meditations that you're
- 37:24Speaker 5: doing to keep your body calm, your mind calm.
- 37:28Speaker 4: Also it is.
- 37:31Speaker 5: Does this medical diagnostics that you go through and then
- 37:33Speaker 5: gives you a personalized recommendation of what supplements you should
- 37:36Speaker 5: be taking. And then it says here's the different supplements.
- 37:39Speaker 5: Take these different things, and then it can even send
- 37:41Speaker 5: you the medication to your house if you do need
- 37:43Speaker 5: a little bit of medication. But all of that and
- 37:46Speaker 5: you can chat directly with the fertility doctor who is
- 37:48Speaker 5: my husband, doctor Arnold, And so it's like for all
- 37:52Speaker 5: of the patients who can't see this doctor in Beverly Hills,
- 37:55Speaker 5: you have access to what he would do if you
- 37:57Speaker 5: sack down in front of him in your first visit
- 38:00Speaker 5: before you get to iv He has a lot of
- 38:02Speaker 5: incredible patients who need IVF and for them it's a miracle.
- 38:06Speaker 2: How did you know how to start an app?
- 38:09Speaker 1: Like, I don't know if I can't even turn on
- 38:10Speaker 1: my TV half the time, how did you know how
- 38:12Speaker 1: to start an app?
- 38:14Speaker 4: Maybe? I built companies.
- 38:15Speaker 2: That's what I do. Business nice, crazy.
- 38:18Speaker 5: I all developers learned the business, built out the medical
- 38:22Speaker 5: diagnostic tools with Arnold, got to know what our patients
- 38:26Speaker 5: really needed and wanted. We studied them, built something amazing
- 38:33Speaker 5: and wonderful stories have come out of it. And we
- 38:36Speaker 5: then launched in Canada and lots of people were using
- 38:38Speaker 5: it and people are getting pregnant and so literally this
- 38:41Speaker 5: week we launch in the US.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Oh, I'm happy that it's amazing. I'm feeling both inspired
- 38:47Speaker 2: and wildly under accomplished straight now.
- 38:49Speaker 5: Well, it's very important to give access to care, like
- 38:53Speaker 5: the medical space is so gated, and I just so
- 38:59Speaker 5: happy and to have this incredible doctor with me who
- 39:03Speaker 5: told me what to do. If I didn't have him,
- 39:06Speaker 5: I would have gone back to that fertility clinic. Spent
- 39:09Speaker 5: thirty thousand dollars a pop on IVF, had a lot
- 39:12Speaker 5: of trauma from that to my body and you know,
- 39:15Speaker 5: my mind and gone through that whole process, and it
- 39:18Speaker 5: would have been totally unnecessary.
- 39:28Speaker 3: We had interviewed a while back Maria Minunos, and she
- 39:33Speaker 3: has had quite a bit of you know, health struggle
- 39:37Speaker 3: issues and scared, not just scared, she's dealing with a lot,
- 39:41Speaker 3: but so she has not just taken the traditional approach.
- 39:45Speaker 3: She has also looked into methods that are really serving
- 39:50Speaker 3: her and she has she said, brain tumors and hype
- 39:54Speaker 3: one diabetes. But she said some things to us when
- 39:57Speaker 3: we spoke with her, just about like staring at the
- 39:59Speaker 3: sun and that can do in terms of you know,
- 40:02Speaker 3: we're always told to stay away from the sun anyway.
- 40:05Speaker 3: I mean, I'm digressing, but I think it's always so
- 40:08Speaker 3: interesting to find people who have answers that are not
- 40:12Speaker 3: necessarily the ones that traditional medicine are providing.
- 40:16Speaker 5: You know, totally, we're very we're very intertwined with Chinese medicine,
- 40:21Speaker 5: nature past and if you follow Arnold Instagram is doctor
- 40:26Speaker 5: Arnold MD. He talks about a lot of these things
- 40:28Speaker 5: to do, but I'd say one big tip is inflammation.
- 40:32Speaker 5: Managing inflammation through diet is a real has a really
- 40:36Speaker 5: important impact on your fertility, on the state of your
- 40:39Speaker 5: uterine environment, on your ability to get pregnant, and he
- 40:44Speaker 5: has found that managing inflammation with his patients has been
- 40:48Speaker 5: the game changer for them.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Wow, you feel like you're done now or are you
- 40:52Speaker 1: going to put your app to use?
- 40:53Speaker 2: For number three?
- 40:55Speaker 5: I unfortunately got very sick when I gave birth to
- 40:58Speaker 5: my daughter.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Died, So wow, you've had interesting life.
- 41:05Speaker 4: Wow, it was really stressful.
- 41:07Speaker 5: I got sepsis and a rare case of it, and
- 41:09Speaker 5: I was in the ICU.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Oh right after birth.
- 41:14Speaker 5: And so after that they said I wouldn't be able
- 41:16Speaker 5: to have any more children, and I just sort of
- 41:18Speaker 5: thought that was like god sway of saying or our family,
- 41:21Speaker 5: You're comple.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Was did did anything transfer to your daughter during birth
- 41:28Speaker 1: or in utero?
- 41:29Speaker 4: No?
- 41:29Speaker 2: Thank God? And you're totally healthy. Fine, now everything great.
- 41:34Speaker 5: I've ever been like, definitely much with death as you.
- 41:38Speaker 5: If you weren't motivated to take care of your health
- 41:40Speaker 5: before you, I mean I was, but I was even
- 41:43Speaker 5: more like now, I'm like obsessed with health and wellness.
- 41:45Speaker 1: So you've got the You've got the fashion line, that's
- 41:48Speaker 1: where is that being sold in stores?
- 41:50Speaker 3: Where is that?
- 41:51Speaker 2: Where can people find that.
- 41:53Speaker 5: Oh, I honestly had done I think fifteen collections and
- 41:58Speaker 5: so I've just put it to rap because I'm so
- 42:01Speaker 5: busy with my fashion, with not my action line, with
- 42:04Speaker 5: the app, and so it was that's an all consuming thing.
- 42:08Speaker 5: And so I did my last collection about eight months.
- 42:13Speaker 4: Ago, and then I decided that I just.
- 42:16Speaker 5: Have to be fully focused on everything we're doing with Anna.
- 42:19Speaker 4: There's so much excitement.
- 42:21Speaker 5: And it's just where my interests, Like, you've got to
- 42:23Speaker 5: keep evolving creatively, and that's just where my interests were
- 42:26Speaker 5: right now.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Well, I'll bet you if Toronto, when Toronto comes back
- 42:30Speaker 3: and people look at you and your style and what
- 42:33Speaker 3: you've got going on, I bet You're going to get
- 42:35Speaker 3: some requests to bring back I'll ask.
- 42:39Speaker 5: But the thing is is that I everyone's like, why
- 42:42Speaker 5: if your left collection sold out, Like, why wouldn't you
- 42:45Speaker 5: do it again? And I was like, because I need
- 42:48Speaker 5: to keep evolving of what is.
- 42:50Speaker 4: Inspiring me in this moment.
- 42:51Speaker 5: Like I had a lot of ideas that I really
- 42:54Speaker 5: wanted to get out in fashion.
- 42:55Speaker 4: I got those out and now I'm like obsessed with
- 42:59Speaker 4: everything that's happening in.
- 43:00Speaker 5: Fertility and wellness and women women's health, and like, the
- 43:05Speaker 5: more I learn about it, the more I understand that
- 43:07Speaker 5: it's so many gatekeepers, it's not accessible to so many women.
- 43:12Speaker 5: And I was like, the whole reason for the fashion
- 43:14Speaker 5: line was to have an impact on someone who wasn't
- 43:19Speaker 5: able to get something that would fit them.
- 43:21Speaker 4: Like it started. I'm obsessed with fashion.
- 43:24Speaker 5: I love fashion, but it started because I wanted to
- 43:29Speaker 5: help change a moment in their life where they felt
- 43:31Speaker 5: shame or where they would literally miss a wedding because
- 43:36Speaker 5: they didn't have something to wear. That's where that started.
- 43:39Speaker 5: And so my goal of empowering and inspiring women is
- 43:44Speaker 5: just keeps evolving.
- 43:46Speaker 4: And this is where it's brought me now.
- 43:47Speaker 1: I love that. Can I just tell you what I
- 43:50Speaker 1: so relate to that because and I know it was
- 43:52Speaker 1: a really long time ago, but I was very overweight
- 43:54Speaker 1: in high school and I wrote a book and I
- 43:57Speaker 1: wrote about this in my book that I had a
- 44:00Speaker 1: really hard time with the whole prom dress shopping because
- 44:03Speaker 1: everyone in high school, all the stores in the wall
- 44:05Speaker 1: are catered to women being like, at the most a
- 44:08Speaker 1: size eight, and I couldn't find a dress. And I
- 44:11Speaker 1: would watch all of the other seventeen eighteen year olds
- 44:14Speaker 1: buying these tiny little dresses, and I would go into
- 44:16Speaker 1: stores and absolutely nothing would fit me, and I had
- 44:19Speaker 1: to have something made, and like the dry cleaner made
- 44:22Speaker 1: something from my mom found someone to make me a
- 44:24Speaker 1: dress and it was a mess and it was just
- 44:26Speaker 1: like one long piece of felt.
- 44:28Speaker 2: And I honestly felt so awful at my prom.
- 44:33Speaker 1: And the whole experience of shopping when nothing fits you
- 44:36Speaker 1: is unless you've been through it, it is so draining
- 44:41Speaker 1: and amiliating and exhausting, and so I like applaud you.
- 44:46Speaker 3: I was in high school and with my best friend
- 44:49Speaker 3: shopping and there was nothing, and she said to me
- 44:50Speaker 3: in a dressing room, maybe we should go over to
- 44:53Speaker 3: She was very like Lane Bryant or and I remember
- 44:57Speaker 3: being so insulted. Yeah, and it was the truth. There
- 45:01Speaker 3: was nothing to fit me. I needed to go to
- 45:02Speaker 3: Lane Bryant. But I was if you guys listeners, that's
- 45:06Speaker 3: like a plus size store. Is it still around? I
- 45:08Speaker 3: think it is.
- 45:08Speaker 4: I think it is.
- 45:09Speaker 2: There was a store in my wall called five seven nine.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Did you know about that?
- 45:12Speaker 3: So?
- 45:12Speaker 2: Did they have that in Canada? Oh my god, what
- 45:15Speaker 2: a disaster.
- 45:15Speaker 1: It was like basically to like the sizes five seven nine,
- 45:21Speaker 1: but they weren't five seven nine. Everything was like a
- 45:22Speaker 1: size zero two or a four and four was the
- 45:25Speaker 1: biggest you could get, and like to even have a
- 45:27Speaker 1: store like that.
- 45:28Speaker 2: It was so humiliating to somebody.
- 45:30Speaker 3: Andy Melville is like that, I think, yeah, it's hard.
- 45:34Speaker 5: I think it was an interesting space to be in.
- 45:36Speaker 5: I loved it, but I did it at a time
- 45:39Speaker 5: when no one was doing it, and I was very
- 45:43Speaker 5: proud of all the work that I've done. But now
- 45:46Speaker 5: I feel like there are choices, and so I'm on
- 45:49Speaker 5: to conquer and disrupt.
- 45:50Speaker 4: The next industry. I love that you have to just
- 45:54Speaker 4: and everyone's like.
- 45:54Speaker 5: But we want anything suits and I was like, I know, okay,
- 45:57Speaker 5: just wait for me to retire and then I'll do
- 45:59Speaker 5: a resort.
- 45:59Speaker 4: We're alyve like, I just can't right now. I can't
- 46:01Speaker 4: do everything.
- 46:02Speaker 1: So when you have time, you have time to be
- 46:04Speaker 1: a mom and do the app and film the show.
- 46:09Speaker 5: Yeah, but I can't also then also run my clothing
- 46:12Speaker 5: line right afore.
- 46:13Speaker 4: Yeah, so I have to chick and choose.
- 46:15Speaker 5: I have to, and why not leave when something successful
- 46:18Speaker 5: before it ends up on like the sales rack and
- 46:21Speaker 5: the outlet for you.
- 46:24Speaker 1: I love that well, I love that we're interviewing you
- 46:26Speaker 1: during like International Women's Month because you're so inspiring and
- 46:31Speaker 1: I'm grateful for women like you in the world because
- 46:33Speaker 1: you put a lot of good into the world.
- 46:34Speaker 2: And you guys, you guys are thank you and.
- 46:38Speaker 4: Entertaining people don't. Don't.
- 46:40Speaker 5: Let's not that we're entertainers and we're people's escape when
- 46:45Speaker 5: they're sitting at home.
- 46:46Speaker 4: They're like, we just I loved watching you.
- 46:48Speaker 5: It's like a mom from your own life that you
- 46:52Speaker 5: just get to like to be in someone else's world.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, and for sure that like the Housewives, Past Housewives,
- 46:59Speaker 1: kind Housewives, anyone who's ever been.
- 47:02Speaker 2: A housewife or on these shows.
- 47:04Speaker 1: It's almost like you know what each other is going through,
- 47:07Speaker 1: even if you don't love each other like a sorority.
- 47:10Speaker 1: It truly is you have something that a few people understand.
- 47:15Speaker 4: But I've met.
- 47:16Speaker 5: Girls from actually met girls from your show, and I've
- 47:19Speaker 5: met girls from other New York shows, let's say, and there.
- 47:25Speaker 5: I remember like Ramona turns to me and I better
- 47:29Speaker 5: week and I was like, oh, I'm in the real
- 47:31Speaker 5: houses at Toronto.
- 47:32Speaker 4: She's like, I've never heard of that.
- 47:33Speaker 5: And I was like, so it sounds like her like
- 47:37Speaker 5: how many seasons did you know? And I was like, oh,
- 47:39Speaker 5: I've just done one season. She was like, I've done
- 47:41Speaker 5: like twenty or I don't know when I don't have any.
- 47:43Speaker 3: That was part of it, I have to say, And
- 47:45Speaker 3: only Ramona Ramona's case, could that be part of the charm?
- 47:49Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 47:50Speaker 2: I don't know. Only she could pull up.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Maybe not for you in that moment, but she was
- 47:54Speaker 3: when you say, no self awareness, like that's Ramona.
- 47:57Speaker 5: But and we were like show and I was already
- 48:01Speaker 5: self conscious because I was like the plus size one
- 48:03Speaker 5: at the show. And I don't know that's my own issue.
- 48:06Speaker 5: But it was just like not all, not all of
- 48:10Speaker 5: the women are like, oh, you're not in my sorority, honey,
- 48:14Speaker 5: Oh well.
- 48:14Speaker 2: You're in our sorority. And when the show comes back,
- 48:18Speaker 2: Jen and I would would love to fly to Toronto
- 48:21Speaker 2: to be at the premiere party.
- 48:22Speaker 4: Well let's I.
- 48:23Speaker 5: Mean, I don't know that the next tomorrow there's gonna
- 48:27Speaker 5: be like a there's gonna be an article that Roxy.
- 48:29Speaker 4: Says the show I did. I just for the.
- 48:31Speaker 3: Record, I'm manifesting and I can't stand that one we're manifesting.
- 48:36Speaker 2: I like that word.
- 48:38Speaker 4: Yes, no confornimation. You could give me advice.
- 48:41Speaker 5: You probably know better than me, like, how does it
- 48:43Speaker 5: actually work?
- 48:44Speaker 4: How long do they make you? Wait?
- 48:46Speaker 3: That's Jackie, she knows way better than me.
- 48:48Speaker 4: Do you actually hear? Like I actually wanted to know?
- 48:50Speaker 2: You may be able a friend. It's all different.
- 48:53Speaker 1: I mean, if you've got a six, it's all about money, right,
- 48:57Speaker 1: So if the pilot gets advertising, then you're on.
- 49:01Speaker 2: You know it'll be a go.
- 49:03Speaker 1: But you know, it's all the TV world, Like sometimes
- 49:05Speaker 1: I cancel things that I don't know, Like they just
- 49:06Speaker 1: canceled VANDR Punk rolls right like the current cast and
- 49:09Speaker 1: they were.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Like killing it. So I don't know. Sometimes I don't
- 49:13Speaker 2: know how it works.
- 49:16Speaker 4: I don't know either.
- 49:16Speaker 5: I don't know if any of us are going back
- 49:18Speaker 5: to the house. I this is the answer, but they
- 49:21Speaker 5: were all, you're going. Can someone let us all know,
- 49:23Speaker 5: like a group email would be helpful.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, and are going to try to make an
- 49:28Speaker 1: app so we have something to do just exactly so
- 49:33Speaker 1: I have.
- 49:33Speaker 5: An app for you. I have a big I have
- 49:37Speaker 5: some ideas.
- 49:37Speaker 3: I have some idea a menopause menopause app.
- 49:40Speaker 2: Yeah, we need a menopause I.
- 49:41Speaker 5: Already built a menopause app and we'd use it privately
- 49:46Speaker 5: with some of Arnold's menopause patients. And I think that's
- 49:51Speaker 5: another space that has so much un known information.
- 49:58Speaker 3: Like starting it's actually though it's starting to take off.
- 50:01Speaker 3: I see a lot of menopause pages, a lot of
- 50:05Speaker 3: like Tamson Fidal, who was a newscaster for a long time.
- 50:10Speaker 3: She has created a whole sorority. How about we call
- 50:14Speaker 3: it that of women who I know are dedicated to
- 50:18Speaker 3: addressing menopause and talking about it out loud and again
- 50:21Speaker 3: like taking a stigma of it, you know, and away.
- 50:25Speaker 3: And so that's exciting.
- 50:27Speaker 5: Think you've privately done that with our patients, and it's
- 50:30Speaker 5: just for a few people.
- 50:31Speaker 4: We just like testing ideas and stuff.
- 50:33Speaker 5: But we are very very focused on We're very very
- 50:36Speaker 5: focused on fertility right now because it's just it's sure lane,
- 50:40Speaker 5: it's really important to manage right now. That's just a
- 50:43Speaker 5: big enough business. It's in terms of like so many
- 50:47Speaker 5: people without access, Like once I've conquered that, and I
- 50:50Speaker 5: feel like I've successfully disrupted the industry. If people walk
- 50:54Speaker 5: into a fertility clinic and on our immediately oversold IVF
- 50:58Speaker 5: and people start trying things at home before they walk
- 51:01Speaker 5: into a fertility doctor's office or before they start IVF.
- 51:06Speaker 5: Then I feel like we've done a bit of our job.
- 51:09Speaker 5: And then for all the amazing people who needed they
- 51:12Speaker 5: see people like Arnold, who isn't one of these big clinics.
- 51:15Speaker 4: He's just solo doctor doing great work.
- 51:18Speaker 5: And so it's like how medicine was supposed to be,
- 51:21Speaker 5: you know what I mean. Once those things have all returned,
- 51:25Speaker 5: then maybe I can change my right but.
- 51:29Speaker 2: That's my focus.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Well, you're super inspiring. I'm so glad we got a
- 51:34Speaker 1: chance to meet you. I've loved talking to you.
- 51:36Speaker 4: Same. Thank you, ladies.
- 51:38Speaker 2: So where can people find you?
- 51:40Speaker 5: My Instagram's luxurious Roxy. My husband's is doctor Arnold m Z.
- 51:47Speaker 2: It's also a pleasure last name.
- 51:50Speaker 4: His last name is Mahesen. Oh I how to pronounce it,
- 51:53Speaker 4: So we just say doctor makes me love it.
- 51:56Speaker 3: But we are really, really really hoping that we are
- 51:59Speaker 3: going to see you on our TVs and not just
- 52:02Speaker 3: our Instagram feeds.
- 52:04Speaker 4: So YouTube back on.
- 52:06Speaker 3: You appreciate that, We appreciate that.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe must.
- 52:10Speaker 5: Start in summer because nobody is filming in New Jersey
- 52:13Speaker 5: in the winter.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Oh, we used to.
- 52:15Speaker 1: We used to start in March every year, and they
- 52:17Speaker 1: used to before I got on it seven years ago.
- 52:20Speaker 2: They used to film over the holidays, and.
- 52:22Speaker 3: I love getting Christmas.
- 52:24Speaker 4: How do you bring the outfits in the snow? It's
- 52:27Speaker 4: so much harder.
- 52:28Speaker 2: There's not a ton of snow here. It's just bitter cold.
- 52:31Speaker 5: Okay, because like I'm like in Stiletto's in a snowstorm.
- 52:34Speaker 4: I'm like, this isn't a look.
- 52:36Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's it's well, the humidity is no joke either.
- 52:40Speaker 2: In the summer.
- 52:41Speaker 1: So you know, I've had many of the horrific I
- 52:43Speaker 1: don't even want to call it a bad hair day.
- 52:45Speaker 2: I'll call it a horrific hair day on the show.
- 52:47Speaker 4: Okay.
- 52:47Speaker 5: Well, if I start seeing really good GLAMs showing up
- 52:49Speaker 5: on your Instagram's ladies come summer, and you know, your
- 52:54Speaker 5: mouth to God's.
- 52:55Speaker 3: Ear, it's like, thank you so much, thank you, Roxy,
- 52:58Speaker 3: what a pleasure.
- 53:00Speaker 4: With all of you, and sending you lots of love
- 53:02Speaker 4: and good energy.
- 53:03Speaker 5: To you to you as well, Okay. By my sorority sisters,
