- 0:09Speaker 1: Silent night.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Holy night.
- 0:20Speaker 1: All is calm All is bright Round yonder Our holiday
- 0:30Speaker 1: edition movie threat!
- 0:33Speaker 3: Yay!
- 0:34Speaker 1: And this one I actually bought something. Normally I'll just
- 0:38Speaker 1: be like, This looks terrible. I don't want to own it.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Let's just take a picture of it. But this one
- 0:43Speaker 1: I saw and we were coming up on the holidays
- 0:46Speaker 1: and I was like, well, I might as well get
- 0:50Speaker 1: Silent Night Bloody Night. Oh. Which is different than the
- 0:55Speaker 1: movie we may be talking about on the regular episode
- 0:58Speaker 1: this week.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Does she have a machine gun?
- 1:01Speaker 1: I can't tell.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Or a rifle of some sort?
- 1:05Speaker 1: This is just a pretty ghetto DVD anyway. I like
- 1:08Speaker 1: the grease pencil that somebody wrote some random crap on here.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Well, my first thought was that, oh, somebody signed that.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And then I was like, no, it's just, Lord knows
- 1:16Speaker 1: where that's from. But even the pictures on the back,
- 1:19Speaker 1: this was my favorite selling this kind of crap back
- 1:21Speaker 1: in the day. Even the pictures on the back are
- 1:23Speaker 1: bad quality images. Like you couldn't even be bothered to
- 1:26Speaker 1: scam them by putting a decent image on it, even
- 1:29Speaker 1: though the actual movie is going to be garbage. But no, no,
- 1:33Speaker 1: even that looks like it's, really bad quality so but
- 1:36Speaker 1: i did watch the trailer this doesn't look terrible by
- 1:39Speaker 1: the trailer i've heard it's not bad yeah it actually
- 1:43Speaker 1: is and that comes from a guy who will watch
- 1:45Speaker 1: anything i also was like this probably isn't even christmas
- 1:49Speaker 1: related they just stole this title there is a christmas
- 1:52Speaker 1: tree in the background of one of the shots i'm
- 1:55Speaker 1: like and the voiceover that's throughout it continually as twas
- 1:59Speaker 1: the night before christmas and all so they're obviously in
- 2:03Speaker 1: the promotion banking on christmas themed i don't know how
- 2:06Speaker 1: much christmassy action goes on once you're in there but.
- 2:09Speaker 3: What's our plot summary so according.
- 2:12Speaker 1: To this then i have to be able to read
- 2:15Speaker 1: it here you.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Can just physically according to this silent night bloody night
- 2:20Speaker 4: is a frightening and suspenseful film that has good performances.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I like when they pat themselves on the back on
- 2:26Speaker 1: the box.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Does it say butt or that?
- 2:29Speaker 3: That has good.
- 2:31Speaker 1: You can't prove it has.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Good performances. Not great.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Mediocre performances.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Unique scripting. And some truly terrifying scenes.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Not all. A lot of other mediocre garbage. But some
- 2:47Speaker 1: terrifying scenes.
- 2:49Speaker 4: An escaped lunatic, of course, terrorizes the people of a
- 2:53Speaker 4: small New England town, especially those in an old mansion
- 2:56Speaker 4: that once housed a mental institution. Bodies and blood everywhere
- 3:00Speaker 4: and no help in sight. Do not watch this movie alone,
- 3:03Speaker 4: in all counts.
- 3:05Speaker 3: That's amazing. 1972.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Wow, so this was.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Like 12 years earlier than Silent Night, Bloody Night.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Apparently there is a Silent Night, Bloody Night 2.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I'm sure. Oh, my.
- 3:19Speaker 2: And there's at least a three because I see a
- 3:21Speaker 2: silent night, bloody night. The homecoming.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Again.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Come on home for Christmas where there will be murder.
- 3:31Speaker 1: So normally this is like a real threat. This one's
- 3:33Speaker 1: actually like, hey, if you want us to watch this
- 3:36Speaker 1: next holiday, join the Meltdown Horror Club and you can
- 3:39Speaker 1: put this on the list. Maybe we don't even have
- 3:41Speaker 1: to wait for Christmas. Who knows?
- 3:42Speaker 3: It has good performances.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Some good.
- 3:46Speaker 2: The fact I have never once read a DVD or
- 3:50Speaker 2: VHS summary that said.
- 3:52Speaker 1: There's good performances in this.
- 3:54Speaker 2: We swear to God.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I promise this is a movie.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Silent Night, Bloody Night, The Homecoming is a 2013 British
- 4:04Speaker 2: slasher film and remake of the 1972 American film Silent Night,
- 4:08Speaker 2: Bloody Night.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Wow.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Does it have a carotene in it?
- 4:12Speaker 2: Carradine.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Don't waste my time if there's not some sort of
- 4:15Speaker 1: Carradine hanging around like Mr. John right here.
- 4:19Speaker 2: No, but it's got a Dickens if that helps any.
- 4:25Speaker 1: This one's Patrick O'Neill and John Carradine and these weird
- 4:30Speaker 1: women on the cover. Yeah. Wearing pink outfits for some reason.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Matching-ish semi-cord.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Oh, and apparently it's got Mary Warnhoff in it.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I thought I saw her for like a second in there.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I was like, that looks like.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Did you watch the movie?
- 4:44Speaker 1: No, I just watched the trailer. And I was like that,
- 4:47Speaker 1: but she's not in it for much. So I was like,
- 4:49Speaker 1: that kind of looks like her.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Guess who it was produced by, among other people.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Harvey Weinstein.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Lloyd Kaufman.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 4:57Speaker 1: That explains a lot.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Hey, say what you will about Lloyd Kaufman. He actually
- 5:02Speaker 2: wants to make good movies.
- 5:04Speaker 1: He likes making movies. Yeah. Some good performances.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Some unique scripting.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Sean Gunn gives a good performance.
- 5:15Speaker 2: So what is a unique scripting?
- 5:17Speaker 1: Unique scripting.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Do they write it in the snow? I mean.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Maybe they do that weird left-handed thing where you have
- 5:24Speaker 1: to turn your hand real weird. So you don't smear it.
- 5:27Speaker 1: And I feel like everybody who does that feels like
- 5:29Speaker 1: it's very unique. So. Left-handed screenwriter.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Oh, this is exciting.
- 5:35Speaker 1: They should put that on the bottom.
- 5:37Speaker 2: The film was never registered with the United States Copyright
- 5:40Speaker 2: Office and thus fell into the public domain.
- 5:43Speaker 1: That's why you can buy crappy copies like this one
- 5:45Speaker 1: right here that I paid almost nothing for.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I might actually have a copy of that in one
- 5:50Speaker 2: of those 50 horror movies box sets.
- 5:51Speaker 1: The sad thing is I might already have one.
- 5:54Speaker 2: You probably have two or three.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Probably. When we started doing this a million years ago,
- 5:59Speaker 1: I bought one that was a $ 50 50 movies in
- 6:02Speaker 1: one big-ass box. And then there was another, like, 8
- 6:07Speaker 1: or 12 or something. There were, like, two different ones
- 6:09Speaker 1: of those that I got that we've done a couple
- 6:11Speaker 1: off of. But there's still a good majority of them
- 6:13Speaker 1: we haven't touched. So we've got our work cut out
- 6:16Speaker 1: for us.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Every time the die pulls something up that's an older movie,
- 6:20Speaker 2: I run straight to those sets.
- 6:23Speaker 1: No luck.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Is it on here?
- 6:24Speaker 1: Is it on here? All right, back to 2B it is.
- 6:27Speaker 1: So if, yeah, if you want us to start working
- 6:30Speaker 1: our way through the rest of those weird DVD sets
- 6:32Speaker 1: we bought a million years ago, then yeah, join the
- 6:35Speaker 1: club and put those weird movies on the list. And
- 6:38Speaker 1: in the meantime, you can hear us say amazing things
- 6:40Speaker 1: like this. I've got my hot cocoa. We've covered some
- 6:46Speaker 1: people and their hot beverage issues. So I'm getting into
- 6:49Speaker 1: the mood. We've got our special Christmas cookies and our
- 6:52Speaker 1: hot cocoa and we're ready to roll.
- 6:56Speaker 2: And some are more frightening than others. Some of them
- 6:59Speaker 2: are just gross. Like, they're just really grotesque.
- 7:02Speaker 1: He doesn't shy away from that.
- 7:03Speaker 2: They're really well done. And the best part is... All right.
- 7:08Speaker 4: And it's like this kind of Lovecraftian entity who has
- 7:12Speaker 4: a task that he has chosen this guy to do.
- 7:16Speaker 1: It exists in its own universe of Christmas music. Uh-huh. Yes.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I mean, what Christmas movie have you watched that doesn't
- 7:25Speaker 1: play the same 12 songs over and over and over
- 7:28Speaker 1: that you've heard?
- 7:29Speaker 2: That first song, I was like, I thought I had
- 7:33Speaker 2: heard every Christmas song. That's what I'm saying. Apparently I
- 7:36Speaker 2: was wrong. And as the movie kept going, I was like,
- 7:38Speaker 2: where did they find all these songs I've never heard?
- 7:41Speaker 1: Christmas fever.
- 7:43Speaker 2: And then I get to the end of the movie
- 7:44Speaker 2: and I read the credits and I find out.
- 7:48Speaker 1: And, yeah, now we're going to have a snowman trying
- 7:50Speaker 1: to cut us up with a chainsaw.
- 7:51Speaker 2: We could work out a Patreon incentive where if somebody
- 7:55Speaker 2: bids enough money, we could hunt a human on this show.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I think it's legal if Patreon sponsors it.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not saying we have to kill them.
- 8:05Speaker 1: I'm always fascinated with Donnie and Marie.
- 8:08Speaker 4: The entire first half hour of this movie is child abuse.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:13Speaker 3: I was like, I hate this movie.
- 8:16Speaker 1: The best movie about a killer robot mall Santa that
- 8:19Speaker 1: I've ever seen.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I worked for one day at FAO Shorts when I
- 8:24Speaker 3: was in New York.
- 8:25Speaker 1: And it was horrible. It's like I'm not coming back.
- 8:29Speaker 1: You're the smarty pun. Because I did it for you.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeah, same here. You worked with the rich people's toys.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. And the parents were horrible.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Oh, I can only imagine.
- 8:41Speaker 3: And I was like.
- 8:43Speaker 3: But it was fun. I got to go like behind
- 8:45Speaker 3: the scenes at FAO Shores.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Did you at least get to play on that giant piano?
- 8:49Speaker 1: Yes. I was assuming you danced on the piano.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Hell yes, I did. They brought us all over during
- 8:53Speaker 3: the training and everybody got to do it.
- 8:55Speaker 2: They're like, for Christ's sake, just get it out of
- 8:56Speaker 2: your system.
- 8:57Speaker 3: And it was awesome.
- 8:58Speaker 1: You'll be over here all day if we don't let you.
- 9:00Speaker 1: So just go ahead.
- 9:01Speaker 3: So I stayed long enough to do that. And then
- 9:03Speaker 3: I was like, nope.
- 9:04Speaker 1: All right. So we're all toy people.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Yeah. That is not an enthusiastic performance at all.
- 9:11Speaker 1: No.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Well, now I kind of want to see it.
- 9:13Speaker 2: You say that. I don't want to see it, too,
- 9:16Speaker 2: until I watched it.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I don't think you're prepared.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Okay.
- 9:19Speaker 1: It just kept coming together. And I'm like, I agree
- 9:22Speaker 1: it's not totally doing anything different.
- 9:25Speaker 2: I don't say that as a complaint.
- 9:27Speaker 1: As it went on, I was like, that's the best
- 9:30Speaker 1: part about it. It's finding this very specific thing that
- 9:32Speaker 1: we all already love. And then shoving these characters in,
- 9:36Speaker 1: and in a different way than you would even expect
- 9:38Speaker 1: most of the time. Yeah. And just execution is perfect
- 9:43Speaker 1: on every episode. I'd get to the end of one,
- 9:44Speaker 1: I'd be like, damn, that was so solid.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:48Speaker 1: And it delivered on everything it needed to, and the
- 9:50Speaker 1: performances are all great, and everything... And.
- 9:54Speaker 2: That's okay that they put it in here in this movie,
- 9:57Speaker 2: but it also shows to me that they can only
- 9:59Speaker 2: afford one Santa suit because they have at least three
- 10:03Speaker 2: different Santa Clauses? Clauses? Three Santas wearing the same suit.
- 10:11Speaker 1: We're not going to buy more than one suit alright?
- 10:15Speaker 1: We're going to get blood all over it by the
- 10:16Speaker 1: end anyway so we only can afford one. Touch the
- 10:21Speaker 1: door before you open it to see if Christmas is
- 10:23Speaker 1: on the other side, kids. Another public service announcement.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Because he's only talking to this creature through a glory hole.
- 10:32Speaker 4: Because whenever he tries to actually look at him, he
- 10:35Speaker 4: gets physically kind of knocked.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Out because it's this powerful being or whatever. So he's
- 10:40Speaker 3: communicating with him through this glory hole.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Which means that she... is used to him just creepily
- 10:49Speaker 2: standing over it.
- 10:49Speaker 1: This is what I'm saying.
- 10:51Speaker 2: I don't like this scene either.
- 10:53Speaker 1: The entire, like it was just so random. I was
- 10:55Speaker 1: just like, what was that and why was it so weird?
- 10:58Speaker 2: See, that's where we need a shot of the cops
- 10:59Speaker 2: getting on the radio and being like, yeah, look, we
- 11:01Speaker 2: know this killer's out here, but we got something we
- 11:02Speaker 2: gotta tell.
- 11:04Speaker 1: We're bringing another guy in. Don't worry about this murdering guy.
- 11:06Speaker 1: We got a whole other issue to deal with here.
- 11:10Speaker 1: So like, this was just a pile.
- 11:11Speaker 3: It was just random.
- 11:14Speaker 1: It was just shit everywhere and like, Laying sideways. And
- 11:18Speaker 1: I'm like, this is not how you set up a store.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Well, why the hell did they have Halloween costumes out
- 11:22Speaker 2: in December?
- 11:23Speaker 1: Why was there still inflatable Easter bunnies hanging out there too?
- 11:27Speaker 2: As much as I love and miss those old vinyl
- 11:31Speaker 2: Halloween costumes.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I was glad to see them, but I was just like,
- 11:34Speaker 1: so we just montaged and it's been months, right? So
- 11:37Speaker 1: why is the Halloween stuff still on there?
- 11:39Speaker 2: Well, the whole, every time they're in the store, I'm
- 11:42Speaker 2: not paying attention to what's going on in the movie.
- 11:43Speaker 2: I'm just like, okay, are they, Are they going to
- 11:46Speaker 2: show us any He-Man stuff? Oh, there it is, Castle Grayskull.
- 11:49Speaker 2: And then I could pay attention.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Ira's toy store sucks.
- 11:54Speaker 2: How? Well, and apparently it doesn't do too well because
- 11:57Speaker 2: at the end of Christmas Eve, the shelves were fully stocked.
- 12:02Speaker 3: That's true.
- 12:04Speaker 1: So real world problems.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I figured that. It's like, at least pretend like you
- 12:08Speaker 2: give a damn.
- 12:09Speaker 1: No. And then the more you get into it, I'm like,
- 12:14Speaker 1: this is all so well put together. But then we
- 12:19Speaker 1: cut to them, and we're watching these two who are
- 12:22Speaker 1: doing it and are, quote unquote, bad. They're being naughty.
- 12:25Speaker 1: But I'm like, he just comes busting into the door. Right.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Did his super Santa powers let him know that they
- 12:31Speaker 1: were being naughty?
- 12:31Speaker 2: No, because he confronts the little girl, and he's like,
- 12:36Speaker 2: are you naughty? And she's like, no. And he's like,
- 12:38Speaker 2: are you sure? And she's like, nope. And he's like, okay.
- 12:43Speaker 1: With an axe? One swipe and decapitation? That is a
- 12:47Speaker 1: good shot, man.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Well, he was sledding downhill pretty quickly.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I don't know why, because there was no hill and
- 12:52Speaker 1: no snow.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I'm all hopped up on these cookies.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Wonderful Christmas cookies encased in sugar.
- 13:01Speaker 4: But something about, I just could not stop laughing throughout
- 13:03Speaker 4: that entire scene, because it just kept going.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Whatever, this is the price we pay for watching ridiculous
- 13:09Speaker 1: Christmas movies. Screenwriting.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Unique scripting.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Hey, that's a whole different movie.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Good performances.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Can I read a quick quote from Mary Warnoff about
- 13:24Speaker 2: that movie?
- 13:26Speaker 1: I would be upset if you didn't now.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Silent Night, Bloody Night was terrible. We were given a
- 13:32Speaker 2: weird script and Ted Gershonny tried to spark it up.
- 13:36Speaker 2: He tried to make it an artistic statement, but it
- 13:38Speaker 2: didn't work. It didn't even make much sense. Most people
- 13:42Speaker 2: couldn't understand what was going on, which is not good,
- 13:45Speaker 2: particularly for a horror film.
- 13:48Speaker 3: But it's unique.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Mary's pretty awesome. Always impressed with Mary. Well, if you
- 13:55Speaker 1: want us to watch this proclaimed by the star of
- 13:58Speaker 1: the movie, terrible movie, then yeah, join the club. Go
- 14:01Speaker 1: to moviemeltdown.com and join the Meltdown Horror Club and you
- 14:04Speaker 1: can give us that movie or any number of others.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Some good performances kind of movies.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Holy infant so tender and mild We say sleep in
- 14:25Speaker 4: heavenly peace
- 14:36Speaker 3: In heavenly peace.
