- 0:57I'm your host, Tamara K.
- 0:59Andersen, and today we're talking all about the big picture for your life and mission.
- 1:05First, we're going to define the three pillars Vision, mission and goals.
- 1:10Second, we're going to talk about the missing piece for this intentions and how adding an intention behind a goal can help you successfully move forward, even when the path you're walking is pretty bumpy.
- 1:25Third, we're going to share an example of a mission in action.
- 1:28And finally, I'm going to give you a free download to ensure that your goals are actually leading you to achieve your vision.
- 1:36But first, let's start by defining the pillars.
- 1:39First.
- 1:40The vision is the destination.
- 1:42It is the mental picture of what you want to create.
- 1:46It is the what.
- 1:48Perhaps this is the Spirit led picture of the home you are creating the vision God has showed you and placed on your heart.
- 1:56For example, a Christian woman's vision could be I see my home as a literal sanctuary, a place where my family feels safe and respected and where anyone who enters can feel the peace of Jesus Christ.
- 2:11Isn't that a great vision?
- 2:13Can't you see that picture in your mind?
- 2:16Now let's look at a mission.
- 2:17A mission is the method.
- 2:19It's how you're going to get to your vision.
- 2:22This is your daily stewardship.
- 2:24It's the specific way you use your unique gifts to bring that vision to life.
- 2:30For example, a Christian mother's mission could be to curate a culture of prioritizing God.
- 2:38First, an intentional connection with him and your family over digital distractions and modeling grace in every interaction.
- 2:48That, my friends, is how you make that vision come to life.
- 2:51Now let's look at goals.
- 2:53Goals are the steps that you take to fulfill your mission and your vision.
- 2:59These are specific things that you can check off.
- 3:02These are the tactical wins that build the vision one goal at a time.
- 3:07They are the measurable fruits of your mission.
- 3:10Here's three examples of goals you could set that would fit with that vision and mission.
- 3:15Goal number one I will establish a fruit phone free hour during dinner and cleanup to foster real conversation.
- 3:22Goal number two I will implement a five minute family devotional every night before bed for the next 30 days.
- 3:30Goal number three, I will declutter stress points in my kitchen to create physical space for peace.
- 3:37And I'll work on this every weekend for the next two months.
- 3:41There you go.
- 3:42Now we're going to talk about the missing link to all of this and that is adding an intention.
- 3:49The intention behind it is the heart or the reason that you want to do any of these things.
- 3:56For example, the intention behind the devotional goal would be that I listen more than I lecture so that my children feel heard and loved by me and God.
- 4:09Say, for example, the goal fails because your kids are grumpy one night and you only get to do a two minute devotional study.
- 4:17The intention to listen and love can still be a massive success.
- 4:22So without a vision you have no direction.
- 4:25Without a mission you have no strategy.
- 4:28Without goals you have no progress.
- 4:30And without the intention, you're missing the heart.
- 4:34So all of these pieces are critical.
- 4:36Help us move forward and have a strategic blueprint of success.
- 4:41Now let's look at the mission in the mess and give a powerful example of how this can look in your life.
- 4:48We're going to dive deep into the specifics of a mission and how this can help you be successful.
- 4:53This is where your passion meets the problem that you were uniquely meant to solve.
- 4:59For many of us, this mission is sharing a message of hope.
- 5:02Often women feel called to help others who are in a state similar situation to what they were battling five to 10 years ago in their own lives.
- 5:12They might feel called to share a message of hope through blogging, music writing or podcasting.
- 5:19Their vision is a world where women feel less alone in their trials.
- 5:24Their mission is a specific platform, perhaps a podcast that they use to reach those women.
- 5:31Their goals are the tactical steps to making that happen.
- 5:36I will record and edit every Tuesday from 1 to 5pm When I started the Stories of Hope and Hard Times podcast, my vision was to help people see the hand of God even in the hard times of their
- 5:49lives.
- 5:50But let me tell you, there were obstacles along the way.
- 5:53Sometimes I got sick and lost my voice.
- 5:56Other times technology didn't work.
- 5:58And at those points I had to lean into my intention.
- 6:01My goal was the recording, but my intention was to be a vessel for the message of hope to others that they could get through their hard times with God's help.
- 6:11Because my intention was solid, I was able to pivot without feeling like a failure.
- 6:17So what do you call a vision, mission and goals?
- 6:21You call them the tools of a faithful steward.
- 6:24When you align these three, you stop being a slave to the schedule and start being a leader of life.
