- 1:44[SPEAKER_02]: Hope, welcome to daily influence.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: Well, thank you.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for that beautiful introduction.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_02]: Hope, can you show a bit about what your background and what led you to where you are today
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, well I have been fascinated and studying human behavior and psychology since my undergrad at the University of Wisconsin where I had a minor in women studies and I took that degree in psychology and went to the London School of Economics where I received a master's degree in organizational behavior and from there I was recruited to a
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: Management consulting firm that focused on the people issues during mergers and acquisitions and start-ups.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: So I became very fascinated with the C-suite and how they communicated change to their employees and how they created new cultures to support that change.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: And then when I left corporate America because I had health issues as we mentioned, I went through
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: In fertility, I had my babies with a surrogate mother, and then at the young age of 33, thought, staged three colon cancer.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I happy to say that's 15 years ago in my rear view mirror.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: But when I got back to my work life, I realized that I want to do something that was more than helping companies break a part or form a new, but really to help people in their own life, in their own personal endeavors.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: and having gone through infertility, cancer, and divorce, I'm able to not only offer my professional background, but my compassion and my understanding and to really go into the depth of the darkness with my clients and show them, show them that through perseverance, through healing, and through strategy, we can come out of that even stronger than you ever imagined.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: those areas that you personally experience can really feel overwhelming.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: How do those challenges shape the way that you influence and serve others today?
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I drop out those coaches and therapist and healers that help me during my own dark times.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm able to leverage what helped me and
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: Meditation and journaling and not just talk therapy, but all different types of healing regiments.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: And so I opened my heart to that and now I share that with my clients and I'm able to very quickly understand what's fitting their need, what speaks their language, and then customize the care based on, you know, their personality and what vibes with them.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: Can you share a moment or story where you felt you made a meaningful positive impact on someone's life and how that reflects your philosophy of responsible influence?
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, I've had the pleasure of holding the hands of countless women.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I do offer a complimentary 30-minute session with those that are in the middle or seeking or post-of-horse.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: So I have so many stories to share.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: But for example, yesterday I had a new client who
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: needed to speak with me right away.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: And her what she needed was someone to see her and to support her.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: She was shocked by her husband's desire for divorce and his need to share it so quickly with the children and to move quickly.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: And so she needed someone who has witnessed that and could also
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: give her permission, permission to cry and scream and feel because it is a death, you know, that's the one thing that people don't understand.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's morning the loss of a living.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's when this living person is no longer who they were to you and probably never will be again.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: And that, that is a morning period.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: So for instance, this client last night, she just said, well, just thank you.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for giving me permission.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: permission to know that he's moving in a way that isn't really of the norm and be that this is the most painful experience I've ever had.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: Well, thank you for sharing that story and it's so sad that she's going through, but I'm so grateful that you were there for her.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: Our I&T series emphasizes that influence doesn't happen in isolation.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: You collaborate with attorneys, financial experts, and wellness professionals.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_02]: How does working as a team creates stronger outcomes for your clients?
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we've found in the divorce process.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I've studied a lot in the collaborative divorce space.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: And mediation, these are...
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: ways to get divorced outside of the courtroom.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: And today about 90% of the cases are settled before they go to the court.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: So I work with professionals that understand that we are persevering for a family.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it may not be a unit moving forward.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: It is a modern day family and whatever we can do to move through it as quickly as possible.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: and to reduce the fees and reduce the stress is only going to serve that family and those children, if there's children moving forward.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: And the professionals I work with see the value and care for their clients and are always looking for options to make this easier and less stressful on their clients.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I've partnered with some of them to create workshops and free podcasts
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: So that they know there are professionals out there, especially today who are looking at different ways to get divorced rather than the old, go to court and fight it out.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_02]: You know, as a coach, you're also modeling resilience and possibility for the women that you serve.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: And often for their children as well, how do you view your role as a leader in helping others see what's possible for their future?
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it is an honor to be serving those that I am a part of, right?
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm five years out of my divorce.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: So I am able to give some perspective.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I find that my clients like to follow me on social media and learn about my story because I am a few years out for some of them, some are further out than me.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: But I do serve as an example of
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: what it's like to start over and after my divorce, I relocated to Florida and starting a new.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm able to show them what is possible and the fun, the fun that comes with being independent and being a divorcee and having your own home with your own rules and your own sanctuary.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: And so I love to model that for them.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's wonderful.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: I can see the beautiful palm trees in the background, pivoting a little bit to one of the hottest topics of people are talking about today is AI.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_02]: Are you using AI in your work?
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: And if you are, how are you incorporating it to enhance your coaching, your client support or outreach?
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: and also when I'm asked for questions if I'm putting myself forward for some sort of award or article or podcasts, it helps me with the crafting of my words.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_02]: Very, thank you for sharing that.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: What message are words have been encouraged?
- 9:49[SPEAKER_02]: And would you like to share with our listeners who aspire to make a positive difference in the world, whether they're personal lives or in their professional influence?
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: I would just share that having gone through cancer in particular, I've learned that our life is very short and very quick.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: No matter how long you live, even a hundred years, their loved ones will tell you it's still a morning and a loss.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's never enough time.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: So what we do every day is try to serve, try to give back.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: What I remember is what will be left behind is the way I make people feel.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: to enhance someone else's life and yourself.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: And so even at the darkest of times, if you have a breath, if your heart is beating, you can find something to be grateful for.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: And you can provide something to someone else, even if you're in a hospital room and it's a smile to your nurse.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: There's always an opportunity to create positivity in the world.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: That is such great advice, Hope.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for sharing your journey.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: your wisdom and your heart with us today.
