Speaker 1: President Trump has authorized the United States Navy to destroy
• 0:04
Speaker 1: any Iranian fast boats that attempt to put mines in
• 0:07
Speaker 1: the water or disrupt passage through the Strait of Hormones,
• 0:10
Speaker 1: to shoot and kill. Our commanders have clear rules of engagement.
• 0:14
Speaker 1: If Iran is putting mines in the water or otherwise
• 0:16
Speaker 1: threatening American commercial shipping or American forces, we will shoot
• 0:20
Speaker 1: to destroy, no hesitation, just like the drug boats in
• 0:24
  Speaker 1: the Caribbean.
• 0:25
Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
• 0:29
  Speaker 3: Good Saturday morning.
• 0:30
Speaker 4: It's nice to have you with us on the forty
• 0:31
Speaker 4: seven Morning Update, and we've got two big stories for you.
• 0:34
Speaker 4: First up, new polling data is out on what Americans
• 0:37
Speaker 4: think about deporting all illegal immigrants in this country, and
• 0:42
Speaker 4: the data may shock you.
• 0:43
Speaker 3: I'll have that in just a moment.
• 0:45
Speaker 4: Also, we break down this new story that the FBI
• 0:48
Speaker 4: is now looking into mysterious deaths of top levels scientists
• 0:52
Speaker 4: in this country all over the country. So what is
• 0:55
Speaker 4: behind this and are there any connections. Now, before we
• 0:58
Speaker 4: get to that, I want to talk to you real
• 1:00
Speaker 4: quick about the amazing work that's being done by Compassion
• 1:03
Speaker 4: International and how you can get involved. Love generosity and compassion.
• 1:08
Speaker 4: We say those words all the time, and they sound good,
• 1:11
  Speaker 4: they feel good.
• 1:12
Speaker 3: But here's the truth.
• 1:14
Speaker 4: Those words don't mean anything unless they turn into action,
• 1:18
Speaker 4: and right now, not later, today, not tomorrow. There's a
• 1:22
Speaker 4: child in the world who doesn't know if they'll eat,
• 1:26
Speaker 4: if they'll have a chance to learn, or if there's
• 1:29
Speaker 4: any hope at all. And while we're all busy, life
• 1:33
Speaker 4: keeps moving forward, but that child is waiting. This is
• 1:37
Speaker 4: where you come in with Compassion International. You have the
• 1:40
Speaker 4: chance to change a child's future, not just with words,
• 1:44
Speaker 4: not with promises, but with real help that provides food, education,
• 1:49
Speaker 4: and hope through local churches and people already in their community.
• 1:55
Speaker 4: Put your words into action and join me introduce a
• 1:59
Speaker 4: child to a loving heavenly father today at Compassion dot com.
• 2:04
Speaker 4: That's Compassion dot Com. It's the forty seven Morning Update
• 2:08
Speaker 4: and it starts right now.
• 2:10
  Speaker 2: Story number one.
• 2:11
Speaker 4: There is a very interesting new poll that has just
• 2:14
Speaker 4: come out and it says something that now I want
• 2:16
Speaker 4: your take on. Nearly one third of registered voters now
• 2:21
Speaker 4: say all illegal immigrants should be deported. Yes, nearly one
• 2:27
Speaker 4: third of registered voters say that every single illegal immigrant
• 2:30
Speaker 4: in the United States America should be deported. This is
• 2:33
Speaker 4: a new survey from the Economists and you gov found now.
• 2:37
Speaker 4: The survey first ass respondents this which comes closest to
• 2:43
Speaker 4: your view about illegal immigrants who are living in the US. Overall,
• 2:48
Speaker 4: forty three percent of registered voters expressed the belief that
• 2:51
Speaker 4: they should be allowed to stay in the US and
• 2:54
Speaker 4: eventually apply for citizenship. That number is followed by about
• 2:59
Speaker 4: forty percent percent who say they should be deported. Only
• 3:03
Speaker 4: seven percent said they should be allowed to stay in
• 3:05
Speaker 4: the US but not become citizens.
• 3:08
Speaker 3: Now here's the interesting part.
• 3:10
Speaker 4: Survey then asked respondents to identify which illegal immigrants they
• 3:15
Speaker 4: believe should be deported, and nearly one third of registered
• 3:19
Speaker 4: voters thirty one percent said all illegal immigrants should be deported.
• 3:24
Speaker 4: A majority of registered voters sixty percent, agreed that illegal
• 3:29
Speaker 4: aliens convicted of serious crimes should be removed from the country,
• 3:34
Speaker 4: followed by nineteen percent who believe illegal immigrants convicted of
• 3:38
Speaker 4: minor crimes should be deported as well. Only three percent
• 3:43
Speaker 4: believe that illegal aliens who have lived in the US
• 3:46
Speaker 4: for many years without committing any crime should be deported.
• 3:50
Speaker 4: Now also something else, just three percent believe illegal immigrants
• 3:56
Speaker 4: who came to the US as children should be deported.
• 4:00
Speaker 4: There's a sharp difference in opinion on party lines. That's
• 4:03
Speaker 4: not surprising at all. Most Republicans fifty seven percent believe
• 4:08
Speaker 4: all legal immigrants should be deported. Twenty four percent of
• 4:12
Speaker 4: Independence and seven percent of Democrats agree. Now, most Democrats
• 4:18
Speaker 4: and Independence eighty one percent and sixty three percent, respectively
• 4:23
Speaker 4: believe illegal immigrants convicted of serious crimes should be deported. Now,
• 4:29
Speaker 4: the survey was taken and it was a very good sample.
• 4:32
Speaker 4: This survey comes as the Department of Homeland Security continues
• 4:36
Speaker 4: to highlight arrests of dangerous criminal legal aliens across the country.
• 4:41
Speaker 4: Their crimes include crimes against children. Jose rivera Orta, a
• 4:46
Speaker 4: criminal legal alien from Cuba, for example, was arrested by
• 4:50
Speaker 4: Ice and was convicted for lewd battery.
• 4:54
Speaker 3: On a child in Miami Dade County, Florida.
• 4:57
Speaker 4: Another arrests, Jacob Pablo Ramirez, hailing from Guatemala, was convicted
• 5:04
Speaker 4: for attempted statutory rape of a child in Dublin County,
• 5:08
Speaker 4: North Carolina. Other crimes include voluntary manslaughter, robbery, an aggravate
• 5:15
Speaker 4: assault with a deadly weapon. In fact, just yesterday, ICE
• 5:19
Speaker 4: arrested some truly sick individuals, including murderers, pedophiles, sexual predators,
• 5:26
Speaker 4: and violent thugs. That coming from the DHS Secretary Mark Waynemullen,
• 5:32
Speaker 4: he said in a statement a coming the April fourteenth
• 5:35
Speaker 4: press release, highlighting the fact that nearly seventy percent of
• 5:40
Speaker 4: all ICE arrests are of illegal aliens charged or convicted
• 5:46
Speaker 4: of a crime in the United States of America. Now,
• 5:50
Speaker 4: this poll number is interesting because if you listen to
• 5:53
Speaker 4: the left, you listen to the media, they make you
• 5:56
Speaker 4: think that the president is completely out to lunch and
• 6:01
Speaker 4: that he's crazy to think that Americans want illegal immigrants
• 6:05
Speaker 4: to be deported. Well, guess what, they're wrong, And yeah,
• 6:10
Speaker 4: they put out a ton of propaganda on this exact issue.
• 6:15
Speaker 4: But that also is interesting from another perspective, is that
• 6:19
Speaker 4: propaganda working as well as they thought it was going to.
• 6:23
Speaker 3: The reality is probably not.
• 6:26
Speaker 4: Americans understand the crimes are being committed against them. They
• 6:31
Speaker 4: understand what it's doing to their communities, and that is
• 6:35
Speaker 4: exactly why the President of the United States of America
• 6:38
Speaker 4: continues to stay steadfast on this issue. It's also a
• 6:42
Speaker 4: reason why Republicans should listen up and watch closely to
• 6:47
Speaker 4: this data, especially going into the midterm elections. So here
• 6:53
Speaker 4: we are another moment where the media lied about what
• 6:56
Speaker 4: the American people want. The media lie about where the
• 7:01
Speaker 4: president was with the American people. And yes, many of
• 7:04
Speaker 4: them are still supporting the president and they believe that immigration,
• 7:09
Speaker 4: specifically illegal immigrants should not get to stay.
• 7:14
Speaker 3: Instead, they should be deported. Next story number two, I
• 7:19
Speaker 3: want to give you.
• 7:19
Speaker 4: An update on a story we talked about several days ago,
• 7:23
Speaker 4: and that is there are some missing US scientists. Now,
• 7:27
Speaker 4: this is a story that has taken on a life
• 7:29
Speaker 4: of its own as many on the Internet are freaking
• 7:31
Speaker 4: out and conspiracy theories are running rampant. This doesn't mean
• 7:36
Speaker 4: that there may not actually be some truth to this story.
• 7:39
Speaker 4: In general, we now are learning that the FBI is
• 7:43
Speaker 4: leading the investigation into the deaths or disappearances of scientists
• 7:48
Speaker 4: and staffers who worked at sensitive nuclear or space technology laboratories.
• 7:54
Speaker 4: Federal authorities have stepped in to determine whether any connections
• 7:59
Speaker 4: exist among at least ten different cases now involving individuals
• 8:04
Speaker 4: that are directly tied to what is described as high
• 8:08
Speaker 4: level research facilities. Now, these facilities include places like NASA's
• 8:13
Speaker 4: Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Loews Alamos National Laboratory. In
• 8:19
Speaker 4: a statement, the FBI confirmed that it is spearheading the
• 8:24
Speaker 4: effort in coordination with the Department of Energy, the Department
• 8:28
Speaker 4: of War and State, as well as local law enforcement agencies.
• 8:33
Speaker 4: All this coming now from CBS News Now. This move
• 8:37
Speaker 4: signals a heightened federal response after growing concerns over a
• 8:43
Speaker 4: pattern that some officials have described as eyebrow raising. President
• 8:48
Speaker 4: Donald Trump has also weighed in on this, calling the
• 8:52
Speaker 4: situation pretty serious stuff and indicating the administration is monitoring developments.
• 8:58
Speaker 4: Trump also hoped that the cases are coincidental, but emphasized
• 9:03
Speaker 4: the need for answers, noting that some of them were
• 9:07
Speaker 4: very important people, referring to the scientists. The incident, which
• 9:12
Speaker 4: spans now several years, includes a mix of disappearances, homicides,
• 9:17
Speaker 4: and then unexplained deaths.
• 9:20
Speaker 3: Among the most high profile.
• 9:22
Speaker 4: Cases is the disappearance of a retired Air Force Major General,
• 9:26
Speaker 4: William Neil McCaslin in New Mexico earlier this year. Mcastlin,
• 9:32
Speaker 4: who previously led the airport's research laboratory, vanished after leaving
• 9:37
Speaker 4: his home without his phone or personal devices. Sparking major
• 9:41
Speaker 4: speculation online. Other cases also include a NASA affiliated aerospace
• 9:47
Speaker 4: engineer who disappeared while hiking in California, and multiple deaths
• 9:52
Speaker 4: involving scientists in Massachusetts and California to add on to
• 9:57
Speaker 4: the list. Now, look some of these cases of clear explanation,
• 10:01
Speaker 4: such as criminal acts and personal circumstances, and that's where
• 10:05
Speaker 4: the Internet doesn't want to look at those actual facts.
• 10:08
Speaker 4: Now there is truth that some of these are unresolved.
• 10:14
Speaker 4: Despite all the online speculation, experts now and investigators have
• 10:19
Speaker 4: cautioned against jumping to any conclusions. Officials familiar with the
• 10:25
Speaker 4: cases say there is currently no confirmly connecting any of
• 10:30
Speaker 4: these incidences, and some point to the large workforce across
• 10:34
Speaker 4: these facilities as a factor, saying, quote, people do just
• 10:39
Speaker 4: die is what one former Energy Department official noted, citing
• 10:44
Speaker 4: health issues, accidents, and other causes. Still, there is enough
• 10:49
Speaker 4: concern about potential foreign involvement that now some Republican lawmakers
• 10:54
Speaker 4: have even suggested adversaries such as China, Russia, or Iran
• 11:00
Speaker 4: could see value in targeting US scientific expertise, particularly amid
• 11:05
Speaker 4: heightened global tensions and the ongoing conflict in Iran Representative
• 11:11
Speaker 4: Eric Burlason, a Republican, said he would not be surprised
• 11:15
Speaker 4: if foreign actors were involved, noting that several of the
• 11:19
Speaker 4: individuals worked on sense of national security projects.
• 11:22
  Speaker 3: The FBI expanded.
• 11:24
Speaker 4: Role follows increased public attention fueled in part by the
• 11:28
Speaker 4: social media speculation and then demands for transparency.
• 11:34
Speaker 3: So where are we now well?
• 11:35
Speaker 4: The House Oversight Committee has now launched its own probe,
• 11:39
Speaker 4: seeking briefings from multiple federal agencies. At the same time,
• 11:44
Speaker 4: agencies such as NASA have also said that there is
• 11:47
Speaker 4: no evidence in their mind of national security threat tied
• 11:51
Speaker 4: to the cases. Underscoring the uncertainties surrounding all of this,
• 11:56
Speaker 4: and as investigators continue their work, one thing is clear.
• 12:00
Speaker 4: The Trump administration is pledging what they described is a
• 12:04
Speaker 4: thorough review, and officials are promising that no stone quote
• 12:08
Speaker 4: unquote will be unturned. The FBI says they are determined
• 12:13
Speaker 4: to check and see if the incidents are isolated tragedies
• 12:17
Speaker 4: are part of a bigger and broader concern from foreign
• 12:20
Speaker 4: countries that may be trying to take out our scientists
• 12:24
Speaker 4: or our leaders in multiple different sectors. That's the reason
• 12:28
Speaker 4: why the President said this is worth looking at.
