- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, Catherine.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Oh, hello Chelsea. It's come to my attention that you
- 0:06Speaker 2: need a primer on substack.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I came to your attention because I told you, Catherine,
- 0:09Speaker 3: so that I'm glad that I that it came to
- 0:11Speaker 3: your attention.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I do need a primer on substack.
- 0:14Speaker 2: So I would imagine a lot.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I have a lot of my friends.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, yes, and somehow I'm getting updates from subsack,
- 0:20Speaker 3: but I don't remember ever, like joining, I like to
- 0:22Speaker 3: limit my email intake, do you know what I mean?
- 0:24Speaker 3: It's too many emails from too many places that I
- 0:26Speaker 3: don't even I never signed up for.
- 0:28Speaker 1: And all I do is unsubscribe, unsubscribed.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Oh we have to have Carlos going and like unsubscribe
- 0:32Speaker 2: from everything. Well, so substack is basically just like a
- 0:35Speaker 2: fancy word for a newsletter. It's like a program where
- 0:39Speaker 2: people can have stuff behind a paywall. So like they
- 0:41Speaker 2: might have a free newsletter they send out, but you
- 0:43Speaker 2: pay to get their podcasts or that sort of thing.
- 0:45Speaker 2: It's I mean, it's.
- 0:46Speaker 3: So you can put a podcast on there that that's
- 0:48Speaker 3: not available anywhere else, correct, correct, Yeah, and so you
- 0:51Speaker 3: can sign up for like updates.
- 0:53Speaker 2: It's sort of like a new cool version of a
- 0:54Speaker 2: newsletter that's salesy.
- 0:57Speaker 1: But but why is our platform for that?
- 0:58Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Okay, okay, I don't understand anything. I'm losing my grip
- 1:04Speaker 3: on reality. Yeah, that's okay.
- 1:06Speaker 4: You know what.
- 1:06Speaker 2: We're just here to help you out with technology. I
- 1:09Speaker 2: have an update from an episode that was a long
- 1:11Speaker 2: time ago, so she wrote in. This is Alisa. She
- 1:16Speaker 2: wrote in on our Heather Gay episode, So this is
- 1:18Speaker 2: a while ago. She says, Hey, there, I was reminded
- 1:22Speaker 2: today that I was on an episode in May twenty
- 1:25Speaker 2: twenty three and wanted to give you an update. My
- 1:27Speaker 2: question was how do I have casual sex when I
- 1:30Speaker 2: can't make the first move? I shared that I was
- 1:32Speaker 2: taking myself out on dates, sitting at the bar with
- 1:34Speaker 2: a glass of wine and reading my book. I love
- 1:36Speaker 2: Happy Hour and I love my own company. Well, I
- 1:39Speaker 2: got asked out by a bartender. Lol. He's a massage
- 1:42Speaker 2: therapist that works a couple shifts a week at the
- 1:44Speaker 2: bar because he likes the social aspect of that work.
- 1:47Speaker 2: We dated for a year and ended up breaking up
- 1:49Speaker 2: because I wanted to know where things were going and
- 1:51Speaker 2: he wasn't ready to think about a future with me.
- 1:54Speaker 2: A year passed and I accepted a job offer in
- 1:56Speaker 2: another province of Canada, big move to prepare for. While
- 2:00Speaker 2: I was packing, my bartender declared his regrets and love
- 2:03Speaker 2: for me. While cautious, I chose to give him a
- 2:05Speaker 2: second chance, and we're currently in a committed long distance relationship.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I love him very much, and he is, as he
- 2:12Speaker 2: says quote, accepting the suffering of the consequences of his
- 2:15Speaker 2: choices as he should. We'll figure out how we can
- 2:18Speaker 2: be together after I finish a contract of two years.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Will I last that long? I don't know. I've never
- 2:23Speaker 2: felt this way for someone, and I'm so comfortable with
- 2:25Speaker 2: him for now. There are parts of living alone in
- 2:27Speaker 2: the city that I love, and I shared with you
- 2:29Speaker 2: before that I have a really good vibrator, so I'm
- 2:32Speaker 2: good until we can figure it out. You are my community.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Much love, Alisa.
- 2:36Speaker 1: What was the advice? This is like a journal entry?
- 2:39Speaker 2: I mean, I know, but well, hey, at least she
- 2:42Speaker 2: doesn't have to go out and have casual sex anymore,
- 2:44Speaker 2: although maybe she wants to while she's got this boyfriend
- 2:46Speaker 2: back home.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Did I tell her to go after it, to go
- 2:49Speaker 3: get this guy did I tell her to have sex?
- 2:51Speaker 2: I think we told her to like like make the
- 2:53Speaker 2: person move more. Oh but then he did.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Oh okay, yeah, okay, okay, so another okay, great, Well
- 2:59Speaker 3: this is very anti climactic, Catherine, very anti climactic.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Alisa, let us know what happens in two years.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll talk to you and be specific about what
- 3:08Speaker 3: the actual advice was. I don't remember what I fucking
- 3:10Speaker 3: said to her. That was twenty twenty three, twenty twenty three,
- 3:13Speaker 3: aren't we.
- 3:13Speaker 5: Just think the advice was about dating yourself. I think
- 3:16Speaker 5: that's what you told her to do.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Hold on, straight man, chiming in, Brad on the hold on,
- 3:20Speaker 4: Brad is on the scene. Do you remember that Brad
- 3:23Speaker 4: Cather is having it Catherine Cather, that's your name now, Caathra.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Catherine is having an inner interoffice and inner office affair
- 3:32Speaker 4: with her husband.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Brad, who is our sound engineer. And that's his voice
- 3:38Speaker 3: that you're hearing. Thank you Brad for remembering. Yes, that
- 3:42Speaker 3: sounds like it tracks Brad that I told her to
- 3:45Speaker 3: date herself.
- 3:46Speaker 2: We're we're at a studio where we've been coming for,
- 3:48Speaker 2: you know, the last several weeks, and I gave him
- 3:50Speaker 2: a a noodle here in the office, and I was like, wait,
- 3:52Speaker 2: did the other people here know that we're married or
- 3:54Speaker 2: do they think we just carpl we're married? In case
- 3:57Speaker 2: you guys did not know. Okay, So I have another
- 4:00Speaker 2: follow up. This is from a more recent episode with OTSCO.
- 4:03Speaker 2: This was about a gal who her sister in law
- 4:06Speaker 2: was like icing her out. There was like a B
- 4:08Speaker 2: day party mishap where she didn't get invited to the
- 4:11Speaker 2: niece's birthday party sort of thing. So she says, Hi,
- 4:15Speaker 2: Chelsea for this. Yeah. Yeah, since we last spoke, I
- 4:18Speaker 2: took your advice and had a conversation with my sister
- 4:20Speaker 2: in law about what it was that had led her
- 4:23Speaker 2: to cutting me off. The fact I should have mentioned
- 4:25Speaker 2: from the start is that she is on the Orange team,
- 4:27Speaker 2: if you know what I mean. Oh that took me
- 4:30Speaker 2: a second on the Orange team, if you know what
- 4:32Speaker 2: I mean. So the thought of having the conversation was
- 4:35Speaker 2: extra daunting, knowing I would probably not be met where
- 4:38Speaker 2: I was at. It turns out the reason she cut
- 4:40Speaker 2: me off was because I didn't wait until I saw
- 4:42Speaker 2: her in person to discuss the birthday issue, causing my
- 4:46Speaker 2: sister in law to get defensive of her daughter. I
- 4:49Speaker 2: still can't believe this is the reason for the cutoff. Wow.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I ended the conversation amicably by saying I love her
- 4:55Speaker 2: and her daughter and only want to be in their lives.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I've seen her at events since this converse station, and
- 5:00Speaker 2: things have been awkward, to say the least. I feel
- 5:02Speaker 2: I've done all that I can, and I certainly appreciate
- 5:05Speaker 2: the advice to confront the issue head on despite the
- 5:07Speaker 2: weird ending to the story. If this was any other relationship,
- 5:10Speaker 2: I would have been done with it all. But as
- 5:12Speaker 2: Chelsea said, we're family, so hoping things will someday improve,
- 5:15Speaker 2: but for now, I think we're at a standstill. Thank
- 5:17Speaker 2: you for everything, Sarah.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Yeah, well now you have to employ mel Robbins let them, Yes,
- 5:22Speaker 3: let her do her thing and let you do your thing.
- 5:25Speaker 3: And it's not your problem. You stepped up to the plate.
- 5:28Speaker 3: You did what you're supposed to do. There's nothing else
- 5:30Speaker 3: you could.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Do, right, And like, if that's her reasoning for being
- 5:33Speaker 2: up to that.
- 5:33Speaker 1: With you, it's good.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Yeah, when you're dealing with people like that are holding
- 5:37Speaker 3: onto very small, petty things, there is no it's like
- 5:40Speaker 3: it is like dealing with the terrorist on the other
- 5:42Speaker 3: end of the spectrum.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Yes, yes, and you can only like you know, like
- 5:45Speaker 2: Chelsea said, you can only be irresponsible for how you're
- 5:48Speaker 2: showing up, like show up with light and love and
- 5:50Speaker 2: you know, if she wants to make grumpy, let her
- 5:52Speaker 2: be grumpy. And that's fine.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Exactly exactly. I concur Catherine, I can cur Catherine, I
- 5:57Speaker 1: concur excellent.
- 6:02Speaker 2: We just have a couple of quickies today. So our
- 6:04Speaker 2: first question comes from.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Mag mag mag Maga Great.
- 6:10Speaker 3: There's another MAGA now and Make America Gavin again. Gavin Newsom,
- 6:16Speaker 3: how do you feel about Gavin Newsom? I'm into it
- 6:18Speaker 3: good time. Yeah, yeah, you have to fight fire with fire.
- 6:21Speaker 3: All these fucking idiots tiptoeing around going we're crying and
- 6:25Speaker 3: doing now he's doing something and JB.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Pritzker is that his name?
- 6:29Speaker 2: JB.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Pritzker, the governor of Illinois and Wes Moore, all these
- 6:33Speaker 3: guys need to fucking do this.
- 6:35Speaker 5: You know.
- 6:35Speaker 2: It's like Donald train back real hard.
- 6:37Speaker 1: They need to really go after him.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:40Speaker 1: So it's nice to see somebody fighting the fight.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I agree. I think like the last few years, especially journalists,
- 6:46Speaker 2: and it's like everyone's being so polite and like respectful
- 6:49Speaker 2: and like disagreeing, but in this really respectful way.
- 6:52Speaker 3: And it's like you just I know, you can't respect
- 6:54Speaker 3: somebody who behaves this way and treats people in this way.
- 6:56Speaker 1: It's disgusting, right well, mag.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Says, Hey, Chelsea, as a twenty something who's just starting
- 7:02Speaker 2: to dive into the dating pool, I wanted to know
- 7:04Speaker 2: if you have any advice on dating multiple med at once?
- 7:07Speaker 5: Do it?
- 7:08Speaker 2: She says. Is this a bitch move?
- 7:10Speaker 5: Now?
- 7:11Speaker 2: If not, why do I feel bad about it? Meg?
- 7:13Speaker 1: Yeah, no, date people only, do it? Absolutely.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I was dating multiple people when I'm at Brad.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. What's wrong with dating multiple people as.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Long as everybody knows you're in the clear. Yeah, Like,
- 7:23Speaker 2: we're not not exclusive, not interested in being exclusive right now,
- 7:27Speaker 2: and then if one grows on you like Brad did,
- 7:29Speaker 2: then you know.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Exactly, then you can eliminate the other gentleman callers. But
- 7:33Speaker 3: I absolutely do not, like there's nothing wrong with that.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Also, like, who's got time to date one person at
- 7:38Speaker 2: a time anymore? No, keep it coming, keep it coming.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Fresh meat, every hour on the hour, and that way you.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Don't feel like, Okay, I just sunk two months into
- 7:47Speaker 2: this guy and he ghosted me or whatever. You know,
- 7:50Speaker 2: got people in the back burner. Our next question comes
- 7:54Speaker 2: from LC, So I know you ditched your tesla, so
- 7:59Speaker 2: this is about ditching her tesla. Dear Chelsea, As a
- 8:01Speaker 2: fellow Tesla owner, I'm feeling deeply conflicted these days, not
- 8:05Speaker 2: because my car is judging me, but because my subconscious
- 8:08Speaker 2: won't shut up about it. Given the current political climate
- 8:11Speaker 2: and the ongoing elon Trump saga, should I ditch my
- 8:14Speaker 2: tesla or are we just supposed to drive around pretending
- 8:17Speaker 2: it's an ultra fast self driving moral dilemma. Would love
- 8:20Speaker 2: to hear your take, Elsie.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I'm all for ditching the Tesla.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Yeah, because you ditched yours.
- 8:24Speaker 1: R I ditched mine.
- 8:25Speaker 3: My sister's waiting for her lease to be up, so
- 8:28Speaker 3: she's not ditching hers.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And I have judgment towards that.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I feel like you have to stand on principles, like
- 8:33Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Like you have to have principles and you
- 8:35Speaker 3: have to follow through with them.
- 8:36Speaker 1: And this he doesn't deserve your money.
- 8:39Speaker 2: No, agreed. And I mean I do think with some
- 8:41Speaker 2: people who maybe haven't given those back, they have that sticker.
- 8:44Speaker 1: This is like first of all the truck, the fiber truck. Yeah,
- 8:47Speaker 1: I thought those all got recalled. Why do I keep
- 8:49Speaker 1: seeing that?
- 8:50Speaker 2: That's what I thought too. I mean there was some
- 8:52Speaker 2: some part at least that got recalled, and all of them,
- 8:54Speaker 2: Brad will know.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, Brad, Brad, where are you a straight man?
- 8:58Speaker 5: You talking about the cyber truck?
- 8:59Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:00Speaker 1: If we got recalled, well.
- 9:02Speaker 5: I think they just have an excess of inventory. I
- 9:04Speaker 5: think they just have like one hundred thousand vehicles that
- 9:07Speaker 5: they can't sell, so they're just sitting in parking lots everywhere.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Well, wasn't there like like some.
- 9:11Speaker 1: But there was an issue where they had to recall them.
- 9:14Speaker 5: I'm sure there's tons of recalls.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Why do we know about this and you don't you're
- 9:17Speaker 2: a car guy?
- 9:18Speaker 5: Well, because it's a Tesla's.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Way to miss, way to misrepresent yourself and this podcast.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Brad, what a disappointment. All right, good bye, Brad tried. Sorry, Well,
- 9:31Speaker 2: on that note, we can go ahead and wrap up.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Okay, Well, don't buy a Tesla and if you have one,
- 9:36Speaker 3: return ite. I just announced all my tour dates. They
- 9:39Speaker 3: just went on sale. It's called the High and Mighty Tour.
- 9:42Speaker 3: I will be starting in February of next year, so
- 9:46Speaker 3: I will be touring from February through June. So go
