- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello everybody, and welcome to a special Foul Territory episode.
- 0:08Speaker 1: It is the WBC Postgame presented by Fox One. My
- 0:12Speaker 1: name is Elana Rizzo in for Scott Broun. I am
- 0:15Speaker 1: along with my friends Todd Frazier, Eric Kratz. You know
- 0:19Speaker 1: these two well, and guys, we're gonna get to Italy
- 0:22Speaker 1: and Mexico in just a bit, but we are coming
- 0:24Speaker 1: off of a really good game between the Dominican Republic
- 0:28Speaker 1: and Venezuela. This was a fun game. It was an
- 0:31Speaker 1: exciting game, and we knew you guys going into the game,
- 0:33Speaker 1: and Todd will start with you. We knew that both
- 0:35Speaker 1: these guys, both of these teams rather were advancing, but
- 0:38Speaker 1: it still doesn't take away from the excitement of this
- 0:42Speaker 1: particular game tonight. You what is your biggest takeaway from
- 0:46Speaker 1: Dr Venezuela, Todd Father.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Well, first and foremost, I mean, if there was one
- 0:51Speaker 2: game that you really wanted to go to, if you
- 0:53Speaker 2: had a chance to get on a plane, if you
- 0:55Speaker 2: weren't close enough, this was the matchup to go to anytime.
- 0:59Speaker 2: The best of Venice went and the best that a
- 1:01Speaker 2: Dominican come together and make up a game. It's truly remarkable.
- 1:05Speaker 2: I mean, listen, Dominican, they are flying on all cylinders
- 1:10Speaker 2: right now. This team is absolutely incredible. The bullpen finally
- 1:13Speaker 2: gave up a run and that was on an air
- 1:15Speaker 2: that batters are hitting. Wan Soto kicking it off this time,
- 1:19Speaker 2: I mean, one of the best hitters in the game.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Home runs are coming in the plenty, and their pitching
- 1:25Speaker 2: has been phenomenal. They're starting pitching. I mean, everybody talks
- 1:29Speaker 2: about their hitting, but their pitching has been truly remarkable.
- 1:33Speaker 2: They came, they saw, they conquered in this pool, and
- 1:36Speaker 2: everything is looking really good for this team, and they're
- 1:39Speaker 2: wearing back ready to go. They have to be the
- 1:41Speaker 2: favorite moving forward here.
- 1:42Speaker 1: It's funny we talked about it the other day and
- 1:44Speaker 1: a couple of different shows guys that maybe we weren't
- 1:46Speaker 1: given the Dominican Republic Todd and Eric enough credit, and
- 1:51Speaker 1: you know what we should be, because they are, as
- 1:54Speaker 1: Todd mentioned, just kind of flying through this pool cratzy,
- 1:57Speaker 1: and we're talking about it in the chain at biz
- 2:00Speaker 1: dot r says dr games more like a party than
- 2:02Speaker 1: a game when you can when you're playing like that,
- 2:05Speaker 1: it can be a party and up and down the
- 2:07Speaker 1: lineup crats. Guys are hitting on all cylinders. They don't
- 2:11Speaker 1: have to rely on one big bat because they're doing
- 2:13Speaker 1: it up through you know, one through nine. What's your takeaway?
- 2:17Speaker 3: My takeaway is that don't say the proverbial wee because
- 2:22Speaker 3: somebody picked the dr to win this John Now, is
- 2:26Speaker 3: it gonna get a little bit tougher for them, Yes,
- 2:29Speaker 3: But what I like to see about this unit that
- 2:32Speaker 3: is their lineup right now is the fact that, like
- 2:36Speaker 3: you said, yes, top to bottom they're doing I think
- 2:39Speaker 3: they have two guys that started tonight that have an
- 2:42Speaker 3: ops under nine oh, under eight p fifty. They have
- 2:46Speaker 3: two guys that are under eight fifty. So you sit
- 2:50Speaker 3: there and you go they are There's there's really not
- 2:52Speaker 3: many holes in the lineup right now, and so that's
- 2:57Speaker 3: one thing that they're able to do that. But to me,
- 3:00Speaker 3: it's the bats that they're taking. They're taking their shots
- 3:04Speaker 3: and advantage counts. They're doing damage, and then they're also
- 3:08Speaker 3: taking their walks. They're they're not just they're not just
- 3:12Speaker 3: swinging for the fences and hoping that they can hit
- 3:14Speaker 3: a dinger. They're hitting dingers. They're taking me at bat
- 3:18Speaker 3: the other way. And once I get to my MVP
- 3:20Speaker 3: of the game, I'll let you know who I thought
- 3:22Speaker 3: had the best at bats.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Okay, so we're talking at bats, we're talking dingers, we're
- 3:27Speaker 1: talking about just kind of moving down the line, passing
- 3:30Speaker 1: the baton. We just saw Fernando Tettis Junior's bat flip.
- 3:34Speaker 1: It's funny, guys, you've both participated in the WBC. So
- 3:39Speaker 1: when you have a batflip like that, for some reason,
- 3:41Speaker 1: it just seems more welcomed, more accepted in the World
- 3:45Speaker 1: Baseball Classic than it does just in the ho hum
- 3:48Speaker 1: game in Major League Baseball. The energy and I tweeted
- 3:52Speaker 1: this before the game even got competitive, I said, man,
- 3:55Speaker 1: watching the dr guys play Todd is so exciting. They're
- 3:59Speaker 1: having such a good time and that's a lot of fun.
- 4:02Speaker 1: But they were also doing exactly what they needed to
- 4:05Speaker 1: do to make a point and to win this ball game.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Yeah, there's one thing to have fun and there's one
- 4:11Speaker 2: thing to play. Well, how about doing both. I mean,
- 4:14Speaker 2: it's a culture, it's an atmosphere. If you ever play
- 4:17Speaker 2: in the Dominican Republic, you understand the grit and the
- 4:20Speaker 2: grind that these guys come up in. All they want
- 4:23Speaker 2: to do is play baseball twenty four to seven. They'll
- 4:25Speaker 2: do whatever it takes, and guess what, when they do,
- 4:28Speaker 2: they have the most fun. And I think a lot
- 4:31Speaker 2: of people, a lot of countries can learn from this
- 4:33Speaker 2: baseball players as well. I don't care what age you are, eight, twelve,
- 4:38Speaker 2: twenty four fifty. The energy these guys bring, it's contagious
- 4:43Speaker 2: and I truly believe that. Call it crazy, call it
- 4:46Speaker 2: old fast or new fashion. I love every second of this.
- 4:50Speaker 2: The crowd is in the game, every pitch, the music
- 4:53Speaker 2: is playing. This is how life should be. I mean,
- 4:56Speaker 2: I'm dancing in the seat right now thinking about the music.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I mean, let's go.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a lot of fun, and obviously these two
- 5:02Speaker 1: teams have a lot of passion, a lot of energy.
- 5:04Speaker 1: It's the music, it's the pomp, it's the circumstance, it's
- 5:06Speaker 1: the personality that kind of gets to you know, finally shows.
- 5:11Speaker 1: As Mark Uino from the Mets Up podcast comments of
- 5:15Speaker 1: the atmosphere at Lone Deep Hill Park for the Venezuelan
- 5:17Speaker 1: and versus DR game is absolutely insane. Keep in mind
- 5:20Speaker 1: this crowd is eighty percent DR fans. Obviously they are
- 5:24Speaker 1: in Miami. That's a big deal. It's it's very much
- 5:28Speaker 1: a Latin culture there. Obviously, if Cuba was there, that
- 5:31Speaker 1: would be a big thing as well. Most of a
- 5:33Speaker 1: lot of folks in southern Florida Miami are of Cuban descent.
- 5:37Speaker 1: So people get all over this and they love it
- 5:41Speaker 1: and they appreciate it and it's fun. And this is
- 5:44Speaker 1: a team, guys, or two teams I should say, Eric,
- 5:48Speaker 1: and a game that you're kind of paying attention to
- 5:51Speaker 1: because we knew they were advancing. But this could be
- 5:54Speaker 1: one of the teams that ends up in the final.
- 5:56Speaker 1: And I believe it, Kratz, that were you saying that
- 5:59Speaker 1: the dr was going to to be the champion of
- 6:01Speaker 1: this World Baseball Classic? And why do you feel that way?
- 6:05Speaker 3: Just about how the lineup is constructed, About how the
- 6:09Speaker 3: fact that you know you have I.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Mean, we first go to the Juan Soto swing.
- 6:15Speaker 3: You have different types of hitters that are not just
- 6:19Speaker 3: that all or nothing type of hitter. And to me,
- 6:23Speaker 3: it's about it's about how do you mesh how do
- 6:27Speaker 3: you meld as a lineup to navigate through the fact
- 6:31Speaker 3: that they're going to see the best pitching in the
- 6:34Speaker 3: world from here on out.
- 6:35Speaker 4: They're not. They're not afraid of it at all to me.
- 6:38Speaker 4: To me, it's different.
- 6:39Speaker 3: You attack the Dominican Republic lineup way different than you
- 6:43Speaker 3: would say, you know, the greatest show in America, the
- 6:47Speaker 3: American's lineup US is a lineup that is, you know,
- 6:51Speaker 3: showed that, hey, you know what they they're pitching can
- 6:53Speaker 3: be hit. The Italians took it to them, But that
- 6:58Speaker 3: lineup to me, is just destructed different. I'm not saying
- 7:01Speaker 3: one is better, one is worse. It just feels like
- 7:04Speaker 3: the way that the dr batters feed off of each other.
- 7:09Speaker 3: It gives you a problem as a pitcher because you
- 7:12Speaker 3: have a guy like Juan Soto who controls the zone
- 7:15Speaker 3: incredibly well. A guy like Vladimir Guerrero also controls the zone.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Two guys that walk more than they strike out, and
- 7:23Speaker 3: they're batting back to back. So you sit there and
- 7:26Speaker 3: you go with two guys that have four hundred on
- 7:29Speaker 3: base percentage. One of them is gonna get on now
- 7:31Speaker 3: all of a sudden, you got extra traffic. It's tough.
- 7:36Speaker 5: The number one rated ticketing app is seat Geek, and
- 7:40Speaker 5: you can get ten percent off on seat geeks app
- 7:42Speaker 5: by using the code Territory ten, so you should use it.
- 7:45Speaker 6: Aj Oh.
- 7:46Speaker 7: I'm definitely gonna use it for WBC games in Miami
- 7:49Speaker 7: because I want to go to the semifinals.
- 7:50Speaker 4: In the finals, they're gonna be sold out.
- 7:52Speaker 7: Absolutely spring training games for the people out there who
- 7:55Speaker 7: want to go to spring training games. Absolutely great idea.
- 7:57Speaker 7: Best seats rado one through ten. And I recently had
- 7:59Speaker 7: to use geeked to buy tickets to a Florida Gators
- 8:01Speaker 7: basketball game that was sold out. So I love the
- 8:04Speaker 7: code Territory ten percent off and the rating is the best.
- 8:07Speaker 5: Yes, he's talking about each ticket rated on a scale
- 8:10Speaker 5: of one to ten, so you know you're getting a
- 8:11Speaker 5: good deal. So look for the green dots. Green means good,
- 8:14Speaker 5: red means bad. And of course we have a code
- 8:16Speaker 5: for you. Like I mentioned, it's Territory ten for ten
- 8:20Speaker 5: percent off your next set of tickets at Sea Geek.
- 8:22Speaker 5: That's ten percent off any tickets with promo code t
- 8:26Speaker 5: E R R I O R Y one zero. Make
- 8:28Speaker 5: sure you click the link in the description and download
- 8:30Speaker 5: the app and have the code automatically added to your
- 8:33Speaker 5: account so you can use it later.
- 8:35Speaker 6: Thank you to seek geek.
- 8:37Speaker 1: You mentioned one Soto of course you mentioned Vladimir Gurer Junior,
- 8:42Speaker 1: but you think about one Soto Todd that goes has
- 8:45Speaker 1: a two run home run that gave the DR a
- 8:47Speaker 1: two to nothing lead. Cold tell Marte, of course, a
- 8:49Speaker 1: home run three to one DR. Vladgerer Junior a home
- 8:51Speaker 1: run four to one DR. You also have Nato to
- 8:54Speaker 1: teach Junior with that three run home run. We talked
- 8:56Speaker 1: about it, the batflip seven to three, the Dominican Republic,
- 8:59Speaker 1: the four and zero and pool play, and because of that,
- 9:03Speaker 1: they will now face Korea in the quarterfinals. Venezuela still alive.
- 9:08Speaker 1: No worries there. They're going to face Japan. That's a
- 9:10Speaker 1: tough draw. They're going to face Japan the quarter finals. Well,
- 9:13Speaker 1: let's talk about the DR Todd Father against Korea in
- 9:17Speaker 1: the quarterfinals. I would imagine your pick is still the
- 9:20Speaker 1: Dominican What do you like about that matchup in terms
- 9:23Speaker 1: of favoring the DR.
- 9:25Speaker 6: Yeah, there's a couple things. I mean, we talked about
- 9:28Speaker 6: it before.
- 9:28Speaker 2: The lineup they construe each and every time they go
- 9:32Speaker 2: out there. Let's not forget the atmosphere, guys, this is
- 9:37Speaker 2: we talked about it before.
- 9:38Speaker 6: Korea is coming back in here.
- 9:39Speaker 2: With the atmosphere that Dominican Republic have, it's going to
- 9:42Speaker 2: be very hard to hear themselves. Think it's gonna be
- 9:45Speaker 2: hard for them, you know, to understand things because when
- 9:48Speaker 2: something happens, it's going to get blown out of proportion
- 9:51Speaker 2: and it's going to be big. Don't let Dominican Republic
- 9:54Speaker 2: score early, and don't let them score often, because it's
- 9:57Speaker 2: going to be game over in the first inning if
- 9:59Speaker 2: that does happen.
- 10:00Speaker 6: One.
- 10:00Speaker 2: On the upside for Korea, they're very poised, they're very disciplined.
- 10:04Speaker 2: At the same time, they're very happy to be there.
- 10:07Speaker 2: And they played a very hard Japanese team too as well,
- 10:10Speaker 2: so they're battle tested. But again that Dominican public has
- 10:14Speaker 2: the tools, has everybody there. And one guy I'm looking
- 10:17Speaker 2: forward to now in these big games. He was zero
- 10:20Speaker 2: for five today, but he's still one of the most
- 10:22Speaker 2: prolific hitters is Manny Machado. It's going to be his
- 10:24Speaker 2: time to step up and lead this team to as well.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Don't think he has to put it all on his back,
- 10:30Speaker 2: but watch out for him taking off here coming moving forward.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Yeah, Manny Minchado a little quiet today, but that's okay.
- 10:36Speaker 1: His teammates rallied around him kind of, you know, picked
- 10:39Speaker 1: up where he left off. Ranger Suarez Eric Kratz will
- 10:43Speaker 1: start for Venezuela against Japan and Yoshinobu yam Mimoto. So
- 10:48Speaker 1: let's talk about that quarter final matchup. Venezuela facing off
- 10:51Speaker 1: against the defending champion Japan. They've won this thing three
- 10:56Speaker 1: different times. Could Venezuela pulling up, Oh, for sure, they
- 11:02Speaker 1: definitely can, but they need to get something from the
- 11:05Speaker 1: bottom of their lineup.
- 11:07Speaker 3: You cannot continue to get nothing out of four of
- 11:11Speaker 3: your guys from the bottom of your lineup. Are they
- 11:13Speaker 3: gonna switch it around? Are they gonna have to pinch
- 11:15Speaker 3: hit and match up? I don't know, but the best
- 11:19Speaker 3: case scenario for them is that they can get Yoshinobu
- 11:22Speaker 3: Yamamoto's pitch count up and possibly get into maybe a
- 11:28Speaker 3: weaker spot of Japan's bullpen. I don't know their bullpen
- 11:31Speaker 3: very well, but I'm pretty sure they're not gonna quite
- 11:35Speaker 3: bring it like Yamamoto is. So to me, I think
- 11:38Speaker 3: Venezuela's is in a good spot with Ranger Suarez facing them.
- 11:41Speaker 3: I think it is a matchup that Ranger throws things
- 11:46Speaker 3: that I throws pitches that I feel like a lot
- 11:48Speaker 3: of Team Japan hitters, the guys that I know of
- 11:54Speaker 3: struggle with even to the point where you saw Ranger Suarez,
- 11:58Speaker 3: Christopher Sanchez and Haysus Wizardo shut down show Heo Tani
- 12:04Speaker 3: who doesn't handle for some reason. It's it's actually an
- 12:08Speaker 3: there's a number and I don't know what the number is,
- 12:10Speaker 3: but lefties that face Sho Heo Tani at this certain
- 12:14Speaker 3: angle they don't do as well. But to me, like
- 12:18Speaker 3: Japan is you talk about battle tested Japan, it just
- 12:22Speaker 3: they figure out how to win this tournament because they're
- 12:26Speaker 3: playing together way more. They're prepared. They're not like they
- 12:30Speaker 3: don't have blips in the radar. They don't have you know,
- 12:33Speaker 3: chances where it's like, oh, you know, I'm just still
- 12:35Speaker 3: trying to get my feet under me. They're playing and
- 12:38Speaker 3: practicing together, so they're just fundamentals.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think ultimately the left on left matchups,
- 12:46Speaker 2: that's the keys there are. You're throwing a lefty that
- 12:49Speaker 2: has been there before and understands, you know, this type
- 12:52Speaker 2: of game and atmosphere too. So listen, put everything aside,
- 12:58Speaker 2: put the names out of it.
- 13:00Speaker 6: It's go time.
- 13:01Speaker 2: It's the time win, or go back to spring training,
- 13:05Speaker 2: or go back to your country and get ready for
- 13:06Speaker 2: your season. The pressures are going to be unbelievable, and
- 13:12Speaker 2: I'm here.
- 13:12Speaker 1: For all this, no doubt. I love the World Baseball
- 13:16Speaker 1: Classic for a variety of reasons, and Eric kind of
- 13:19Speaker 1: teased it at the beginning of the show. Guys, but
- 13:22Speaker 1: time now for our MLB Rivals Player of the Game,
- 13:25Speaker 1: and we're talking about this game specifically the Dominican Republic
- 13:29Speaker 1: versus Venezuela. Is so many different guys that you can
- 13:31Speaker 1: choose from Eric specifically on the dr just because there
- 13:35Speaker 1: were so many guys offensively getting the job done. But
- 13:38Speaker 1: e K will start with you. Who is your MLB
- 13:41Speaker 1: Rivals Player of the Game?
- 13:44Speaker 3: Easy runner up Fernando Tatis, but I'm going to go
- 13:47Speaker 3: with Vladimir Guerrero. When you have a guy that can
- 13:51Speaker 3: hit a two iron out to left field and then
- 13:54Speaker 3: the next at bata take the base hit to right
- 13:57Speaker 3: field against a guy that I didn't think was a
- 14:00Speaker 3: was a real great matchup for Vladdie. Like to me,
- 14:03Speaker 3: he's just shown so many things that we saw in
- 14:05Speaker 3: the playoffs. I think a lot of people knew it,
- 14:08Speaker 3: but maybe he unlocked something different this past year in
- 14:12Speaker 3: the playoffs, in the World Series. It just seems like
- 14:15Speaker 3: he's stayed that locked in. Can he do it for
- 14:18Speaker 3: the season, I don't know, But tonight I'm going with
- 14:21Speaker 3: Vladimir Guerrero Junior.
- 14:23Speaker 1: All right, Vladimir Guerrero Eric picks at the top of
- 14:27Speaker 1: the thirty had that solo shot to give the Dominican
- 14:30Speaker 1: a four to one lead. Todd Father, who is your
- 14:33Speaker 1: MLB Rivals Player of the game?
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that was the pick right there, But
- 14:39Speaker 2: if there was one, ed, Yeah, Fernando Tattoos Junior. I mean,
- 14:42Speaker 2: this guy, he's locked in. He's the straw that stirs
- 14:46Speaker 2: the drink. He's that kickstarter, and when he goes day go,
- 14:50Speaker 2: he's leading off the games. He's fantastic, looks comfortable, and
- 14:56Speaker 2: he is enjoying this World Baseball Classic like nobody else.
- 15:00Speaker 2: So again, three RBIs I mean as a leadoff guy,
- 15:04Speaker 2: can't ask for anything better?
- 15:05Speaker 4: All right?
- 15:06Speaker 1: Of course, two position players would pick a position player
- 15:08Speaker 1: to be their player of the game. I thought Saniel
- 15:10Speaker 1: Contera did a nice job as well. Perhaps a player
- 15:13Speaker 1: of the game for other reasons, But we're going to
- 15:16Speaker 1: put a bow on the Dominican versus Venezuela. Of course,
- 15:19Speaker 1: both of those teams advance a reminder in the quarterfinals
- 15:23Speaker 1: that the Dominican Republic will play Korea on Friday and
- 15:26Speaker 1: Venezuela will play Japan on Saturday. Let's take a moment
- 15:31Speaker 1: now as we get ready to talk about Italy versus Mexico.
- 15:40Speaker 1: All right, guys, so this is the game that a
- 15:42Speaker 1: lot of people had their eyes on for good reason,
- 15:46Speaker 1: because all of the kerfuffle that happened yesterday with Team
- 15:50Speaker 1: USA not knowing what the hell was going on in
- 15:53Speaker 1: terms of whether they punched their ticket or not to
- 15:56Speaker 1: the quarter finals. So Italy going up against Mexico, whichever
- 16:00Speaker 1: team won was automatically going to advance. The US needed
- 16:05Speaker 1: Italy to win, and certainly, as soon as Italy made
- 16:09Speaker 1: it to four runs, we thought we had a lock,
- 16:12Speaker 1: and they did so. Going back to Italy and Mexico,
- 16:15Speaker 1: let's talk first, of course, about Aaron Nola pitching for
- 16:19Speaker 1: Team Italy. Five shutout innings, eric four hits and five k's.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Nola did exactly what he needed to do.
- 16:27Speaker 3: He did he was spinning that curveball and when he
- 16:30Speaker 3: got behind an account. He was running that two seamer back.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I think Philly fans should be excited because last year
- 16:37Speaker 3: you were seeing a lot of eighty nine to ninety
- 16:40Speaker 3: two when he was right before he went on the il,
- 16:43Speaker 3: and even when he came back, that.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Velocity wasn't quite there. He was popping some ninety fives.
- 16:49Speaker 3: He was sitting consistently ninety two ninety four, and he
- 16:54Speaker 3: had the Mexican hitters a little flummixed. I think early
- 16:58Speaker 3: they sat there and they went, Okay, it's fine, We're
- 17:01Speaker 3: gonna get to Aeron Nola. And all of a sudden,
- 17:04Speaker 3: when you have a pitch count, when you have a
- 17:05Speaker 3: pitch limit of sixty five pitches in tournaments like this,
- 17:08Speaker 3: you're like, you know what, I'm definitely gonna We're gonna
- 17:12Speaker 3: get him out by the fourth inning. And for Aaron Nola,
- 17:14Speaker 3: to me, the game was over. Besides, when we get
- 17:17Speaker 3: to the MVP of the game, that's when the game
- 17:19Speaker 3: was over. But when he got out of that fifth inning,
- 17:22Speaker 3: when he got through the fifth inning, he had traffic
- 17:25Speaker 3: runner got thrown out, and then he got a big
- 17:28Speaker 3: round ball out and he was done with the sixty
- 17:31Speaker 3: five pitches. That is where Italy Like, to me, that's
- 17:34Speaker 3: where the game was. The game was over at that
- 17:36Speaker 3: point because they didn't have to go into the softer
- 17:40Speaker 3: underbelly of their bullpen, which you saw give up a
- 17:42Speaker 3: few runs to a really good US lineup the night before.
- 17:46Speaker 3: So when Nola gave him that distance, that was massive
- 17:49Speaker 3: the for the squad.
- 17:51Speaker 1: All right, he did it on the pitching side, But
- 17:53Speaker 1: how about Vinnie Pasquentino on the position player side. He
- 17:58Speaker 1: was todd the barista in the dugout prior to this game,
- 18:03Speaker 1: but he came up massive three home runs, the first
- 18:07Speaker 1: home run, first three home run game in World Baseball
- 18:10Speaker 1: Classic history. Vini pass Quentino, My god, I mean, you
- 18:14Speaker 1: love watching him, you love his energy, I love how
- 18:17Speaker 1: he plays just in general. But three home runs, let's go.
- 18:22Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely fantastic.
- 18:24Speaker 2: This guy coming through big time, not afraid of the
- 18:27Speaker 2: big moment. He's the one that's given the expresso shots.
- 18:30Speaker 2: So he said, you know what, I'm a little tired.
- 18:32Speaker 2: I'm gonna go him three different ways so I can
- 18:35Speaker 2: get my energy up. And guess what, this guy will
- 18:37Speaker 2: not be sleeping well tonight because his energy is going
- 18:40Speaker 2: to be out the roof. Absolutely beautiful. This team is clicking.
- 18:45Speaker 2: They look really good no matter who's playing. I know
- 18:48Speaker 2: they had a big injury Keller last night, it didn't matter.
- 18:51Speaker 2: They came through and Anna they helped you say out tremendously.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, they absolutely did. And you have to
- 18:59Speaker 1: love what they were able to do undefeated in pool play.
- 19:03Speaker 1: It's super cool what team Italy is doing. Obviously, Ned
- 19:07Speaker 1: Coletti a shout out to him. He was the assistant
- 19:10Speaker 1: general manager for the San Francisco Giants, and of course
- 19:12Speaker 1: he was the general manager for the Los Angeles Dodgers,
- 19:15Speaker 1: kind of the architect of that team for quite some time,
- 19:18Speaker 1: and then goes on to put together a four to
- 19:20Speaker 1: you know, a four win team in Pool B. But
- 19:23Speaker 1: Vinnie pas Quentino had a lot to say after this game, guys,
- 19:28Speaker 1: and also kind of given a little bit of a
- 19:31Speaker 1: kind of a shout out, but kind of like a
- 19:32Speaker 1: you're welcome to Team USA.
- 19:34Speaker 6: Take a listen, go ahead.
- 19:37Speaker 4: Yes, I'm calfinated, I'm beat up right now, so just yeah,
- 19:42Speaker 4: we're in a good spot. That was unbelievable.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Huh, You're welcome to USA.
- 19:48Speaker 2: We were thinking of you guys over at your hotel
- 19:51Speaker 2: we were thinking of you guys.
- 19:52Speaker 6: So glad you guys could join us.
- 19:54Speaker 4: In the party here.
- 19:56Speaker 1: You gotta love it, you gotta love it. I love
- 19:58Speaker 1: his attitude every damn. We needed Italy badly, we needed
- 20:02Speaker 1: them badly, and I'm good on them. Are good on USA.
- 20:05Speaker 1: I guess for Italy Todd to get out early and
- 20:07Speaker 1: not make it as much of a like, we're not
- 20:09Speaker 1: sweating it as far as if you're a USA fan,
- 20:12Speaker 1: you're not sweating it because Italy kind of shook command
- 20:14Speaker 1: early in this game.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's what that's what they've been doing. And
- 20:18Speaker 2: you saw it yesterday against Team USA. Came out a
- 20:22Speaker 2: couple of home runs, kept padding onto that lead and
- 20:25Speaker 2: there led to a couple more runs and that was
- 20:28Speaker 2: basically it ate nothing. Oh my god, you're like this,
- 20:31Speaker 2: this game is going to be a ten run role
- 20:33Speaker 2: in USA is going to be out. So ultimately they did,
- 20:37Speaker 2: they did, They helped USA out. Sometimes you need a
- 20:40Speaker 2: little help from your brethren's over there, like Cratsy would say,
- 20:44Speaker 2: and you know, you just keep on moving forward.
- 20:47Speaker 6: But now you can breathe.
- 20:49Speaker 2: If your Team USA you appreciate that, you remember that,
- 20:52Speaker 2: and it's go time. The rose to get that line
- 20:55Speaker 2: up ready baby, because it's time to go.
- 20:58Speaker 5: We love Hello Fresh shout out to them, and over
- 21:01Speaker 5: one hundred recipes to choose from each week to provide variety.

- 21:22Speaker 7: Well, listen, Scott, I'm trying to stay in my playing
- 21:24Speaker 7: slash fighting shape, so I need the seafood. I need
- 21:26Speaker 7: the protein, and I need the veggies. And plus I
- 21:29Speaker 7: want to look cool when people come over and say, wow,
- 21:30Speaker 7: you made all this stuff, and I'll be like easy peasy.

- 21:51Speaker 5: apply to discount on first box new subscribers only varies
- 21:55Speaker 5: by plan because when dinner tastes this good, nothing hits
- 21:58Speaker 5: like home cooking.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Eric, let me ask you this. So, Vinnie pass Quentino
- 22:02Speaker 1: did not have a hit in this tournament up until
- 22:04Speaker 1: that point, and all of a sudden he goes from
- 22:05Speaker 1: hitless to three home runs in the game and is
- 22:08Speaker 1: such it has such a dominant performance. How does that happen?
- 22:13Speaker 3: I mean, as Charlie Manuel says, water levels out good
- 22:18Speaker 3: hitters figure out how to get hits. And you know what,
- 22:25Speaker 3: he was able to do it in different ways, obviously
- 22:27Speaker 3: pulling the ball, obviously staying back on a couple breaking balls.
- 22:32Speaker 4: It happens like he played three games.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Like people freak out when somebody doesn't do well in
- 22:37Speaker 3: these tournaments, because all you have, and I want to
- 22:40Speaker 3: pull up his numbers here, all you have are the games.
- 22:44Speaker 3: You know, it's the ultimate sample size. So right now
- 22:47Speaker 3: Vinnie Pasmentino is hitting.
- 22:49Speaker 4: One eight eight.
- 22:51Speaker 3: His ops is eleven hundred. Before tonight he was hitting zero.
- 22:56Speaker 3: So like you have one good game in a four
- 22:59Speaker 3: game tournament, it and you're good, but you have three
- 23:04Speaker 3: stinkers all of a sudden, It's like ah. Man, that's
- 23:07Speaker 3: what's so beautiful about international baseball. These tournaments that are
- 23:11Speaker 3: put together by WBC, by the you know, the WBC
- 23:16Speaker 3: contingent that has even some of the qualifier tournaments. Todd
- 23:20Speaker 3: and I both have played in those, and it's like
- 23:23Speaker 3: it's just something that you don't get to experience, and
- 23:27Speaker 3: they mean so much because you're getting to represent your country,
- 23:31Speaker 3: whether it's little, you know, little baseball country like Brazil,
- 23:36Speaker 3: large country, little baseball heritage, or it's the United States,
- 23:41Speaker 3: or it's the national sport in Japan. Like these players
- 23:46Speaker 3: are representing their teams. And so for Vinnie Pasquentino, maybe
- 23:50Speaker 3: during the year he might have gone to a dark place.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Oh man, I'm three games. I had no hits to
- 23:55Speaker 3: start the season. It's terrible. It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter.
- 23:59Speaker 3: You don't know, oh what you're doing. You know you
- 24:01Speaker 3: stunk early, but you know that the next day you
- 24:04Speaker 3: could get one ground ball roller to the right side
- 24:08Speaker 3: that scores the winning run and you, guys advance.
- 24:11Speaker 4: That's the beauty of international baseball.
- 24:14Speaker 1: It's the beauty of this game. And you have to
- 24:16Speaker 1: have a short memory, as you guys know better than
- 24:18Speaker 1: anybody having played the length of time that you did.
- 24:21Speaker 1: It's Ted Lasso of courses that goldfish have to have
- 24:23Speaker 1: short memories, and that's what you have to have as
- 24:25Speaker 1: a player. Moving forward to the quarterfinals, we talked about
- 24:29Speaker 1: the Dominican and Venezuela. Moving on to their next opponents.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Will you take a look at this opponent for the
- 24:34Speaker 1: USA coming up? Todd And it's USA versus Canada, which
- 24:38Speaker 1: is always what you want, right especially in hockey, but
- 24:41Speaker 1: now we get to do it in baseball. And usually
- 24:44Speaker 1: the US and Canada are in the same pool to
- 24:47Speaker 1: begin the tournament, and obviously they weren't this time, so
- 24:51Speaker 1: Canada advancing. Today they did a nice job beating Cuba.
- 24:55Speaker 1: So Cuba has been eliminated and Canada moves on. And
- 24:57Speaker 1: now the USA will play Canada to on Friday with
- 25:02Speaker 1: Logan Web on the mound. How do you like their chances?
- 25:06Speaker 2: I like their chances a lot for Team USA. I
- 25:09Speaker 2: think now it was a little bit of a gut check,
- 25:11Speaker 2: a little bit of a worrysome atmosphere. I think they're
- 25:14Speaker 2: gonna come together even more, put their best foot forward
- 25:17Speaker 2: and have a really good dominating performance. Don't hey, don't
- 25:19Speaker 2: get me wrong. This Canada team has been playing well.
- 25:22Speaker 2: They beat a really good Puerto Rico team, they beat
- 25:24Speaker 2: a really good Cuba team. They had to pretty much
- 25:27Speaker 2: win both of those games to kind of solidify them
- 25:31Speaker 2: getting into the quarterfinals. It's probably the best group they've
- 25:34Speaker 2: had in years. But they're gonna play USA and these
- 25:38Speaker 2: dogs are gonna hunt. He man, these boys are ready
- 25:40Speaker 2: to go. I think if you're USA, you're very happy
- 25:43Speaker 2: right now where you're at, But don't take this team lightly.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Go out there and when you when you have them down,
- 25:49Speaker 2: keep them down and keep herarning back. I'm home for
- 25:52Speaker 2: really good pitching performance from Team USA coming up this game.
- 25:57Speaker 1: And I know you guys have discussed it at length
- 25:59Speaker 1: on Foul Territory and I'm not trying to, uh, you know,
- 26:02Speaker 1: belabor this point, but I did want to ask for
- 26:04Speaker 1: those of us that are listening right now that maybe
- 26:06Speaker 1: didn't watch you guys on Foul Territory today with the
- 26:08Speaker 1: whole mix up with Mark de Rosa, who I have
- 26:12Speaker 1: a tremendous amount of respect for I think is a
- 26:13Speaker 1: very good baseball mind. Okay, but the mix up of
- 26:16Speaker 1: like they, oh, we already punched our ticket. Well, now
- 26:18Speaker 1: we know that Team USA is in right initially, so
- 26:22Speaker 1: we need to do how do you approach this? Let
- 26:24Speaker 1: me be the first to congratulate Mark Durosa TM USA
- 26:27Speaker 1: for punching their tickets to the quarterfinals. We love it, guys,
- 26:29Speaker 1: and we can we can poke fun. But there's a
- 26:32Speaker 1: lot of reasons that that whole thing was a mess.
- 26:34Speaker 1: But Eric, let me ask you this, what is the
- 26:37Speaker 1: mindset need to be for d Row and all of
- 26:41Speaker 1: Team USA not just him as the manager, but all
- 26:43Speaker 1: of Team USA going up against Team Canada.
- 26:48Speaker 6: I mean the.
- 26:51Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm gonna say the coaching staff. De Row
- 26:53Speaker 3: and the coaching staff, they they've made their mistake and
- 26:59Speaker 3: there's no more of the you know what, we're going
- 27:02Speaker 3: to cruise through this one. I think it's going to
- 27:07Speaker 3: it's gonna haunt them. You know, it's gonna make their
- 27:09Speaker 3: decisions be more concrete, their decisions more like playoff type
- 27:14Speaker 3: of decisions if they're able to make those. With the
- 27:16Speaker 3: pitching changes, and I think the lineup is going to
- 27:19Speaker 3: be that solidified lineup which they feel is the best
- 27:22Speaker 3: lineupbout you know, I'm not sure where they think that is,
- 27:25Speaker 3: but I think Bryce Harper's in there. I think Paul
- 27:28Speaker 3: Goldschmid can come off the bench. They got him in
- 27:30Speaker 3: the at bats. But to me, the team, the team
- 27:34Speaker 3: has to understand that they are two separate units. They
- 27:39Speaker 3: got the pitchers and they got the hitters. The hitters
- 27:42Speaker 3: have to figure out how to continue to drive guys
- 27:45Speaker 3: in whatever way that's possible. They have got to have
- 27:48Speaker 3: team at bats. I don't feel like against Italy they
- 27:50Speaker 3: had team at bats. I felt like Michael Lorenzen made
- 27:54Speaker 3: pitches against them, And I think you're I'm not sure
- 27:57Speaker 3: who they're going to see. Maybe somebody can tell me
- 28:00Speaker 3: who they're gonna see. With Team Canada, I'm not sure.
- 28:03Speaker 3: But if they can have team at bats, now, all
- 28:07Speaker 3: of a sudden, somebody that it lives on the corners
- 28:11Speaker 3: has to come over the middle of the plate. And
- 28:13Speaker 3: that's when US does the most damage. If you're facing
- 28:15Speaker 3: the team that just throws a billion and they're just
- 28:18Speaker 3: trying to shotgun shell the entire strike zone, that's when
- 28:22Speaker 3: Team USA is gonna take advantage and they're gonna put
- 28:25Speaker 3: together good at bats because it almost is like they
- 28:27Speaker 3: lock in better against guys that throw harder but.
- 28:31Speaker 4: Don't necessarily command the zones.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Michael Lorenzen put on you don't even have to watch
- 28:36Speaker 3: How to Pitch to Team USA. Just go watch, Just
- 28:40Speaker 3: go watch Michael Lorenzen's outing. He showed the blueprint of
- 28:43Speaker 3: how to beat that team and that lineup needs to
- 28:46Speaker 3: figure out how to control the zone to push even
- 28:51Speaker 3: the slower pitchers back in the zone.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Yeah, Michael Lorenzen is the best thing that's happened to
- 28:55Speaker 1: the Colorado Rockies. And sometime, if you're just joining us,
- 28:57Speaker 1: let's take a look at the BRAC if you will,
- 29:00Speaker 1: in terms of who has advanced and where we're going next.
- 29:03Speaker 1: As far as this, we've talked about it at length,
- 29:05Speaker 1: but we know that the Venezuelan team will play Korea
- 29:09Speaker 1: on Friday, that again is in Miami on FS two,
- 29:12Speaker 1: and then the United States and Canada on Fox at
- 29:14Speaker 1: eight pm that is also on Friday. And then March fourteenth,
- 29:19Speaker 1: that is, uh, Puerto Rico will go up against Mexico
- 29:23Speaker 1: or Italy excuse me, rather if I could get my
- 29:24Speaker 1: flags right, and then Venezuela going up against Japan on
- 29:28Speaker 1: March fourteenth, also in Miami. So again all of the
- 29:32Speaker 1: action shifts to Miami, and to Houston. It is done
- 29:35Speaker 1: in Puerto Rico, it is done in Japan. But this
- 29:39Speaker 1: tournament is far from over and still such a blast
- 29:43Speaker 1: all right, from the WBC through the World Series guys,
- 29:45Speaker 1: to the World Cup, to NASCAR and IndyCar. With Fox One,
- 29:48Speaker 1: you'll get it all live. Start your seven day free

- 30:09Speaker 1: All Right, guys, so we talked about it. Are players
- 30:12Speaker 1: of the game for Venezuela and the Dominicans? I'm going
- 30:16Speaker 1: to ask you the same exact question, and Todd I
- 30:19Speaker 1: will start with you for MLB rivals. Who is your
- 30:22Speaker 1: player of the game for Italy and Mexico?
- 30:28Speaker 2: I mean, this has gotta be the second answer for
- 30:33Speaker 2: kra and I. I mean this might be the hardest
- 30:36Speaker 2: one out there. I mean, Vinnie Pasquortina three home runs.
- 30:40Speaker 2: I don't care who it is, Absolutely mammoth shots, Absolutely
- 30:46Speaker 2: mammoth person.
- 30:47Speaker 6: This kid is doing what he does best.
- 30:49Speaker 2: And we Cratzy kind of hinted on it, struggled in
- 30:52Speaker 2: the beginning, came through their fearless leader strikes again, now
- 30:57Speaker 2: not with the Express, but with his bat. The lead
- 31:01Speaker 2: this team to go four and ero in that pool.
- 31:03Speaker 2: You know, no matter what they do from the here
- 31:05Speaker 2: on out, that's truly remarkable.
- 31:10Speaker 4: I can't pick.
- 31:12Speaker 3: I can't pick vinnp So I got to highlight somebody else,
- 31:15Speaker 3: and we already highlighted Aaron Nola, John Birdie.
- 31:20Speaker 4: John Birdie doesn't have a job yet.
- 31:21Speaker 3: John Birdie, I think is hitting over four hundred in
- 31:24Speaker 3: the WBC, So maybe not the MVP of this game,
- 31:28Speaker 3: but definitely their most valuable hitter, coming up with big hits,
- 31:34Speaker 3: stealing bags like and I think it was two for three, Yeah,
- 31:37Speaker 3: two for three with a walk, just putting together pro
- 31:40Speaker 3: at bats, and you know, I think, I think if
- 31:43Speaker 3: they're going to do anything, he has to continue to
- 31:46Speaker 3: be that kind of table setter in front of the
- 31:48Speaker 3: big boys.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I appreciate MV Rivals for being a part of the
- 31:53Speaker 1: show and supporting us here on foul Territory. But let
- 31:56Speaker 1: me ask you, guys, this the strongest espresso shot you
- 32:02Speaker 1: have ever had. I'm Cuban, and I'm also Italian.
- 32:05Speaker 6: Okay.
- 32:06Speaker 1: My father is Italian. My grandparents were born in Sicily.
- 32:09Speaker 1: My mom was born in Havana, Cuba. So I had
- 32:11Speaker 1: like the second I came out of my mom, I
- 32:14Speaker 1: had my ears pierced, and I had an espresso shot.
- 32:17Speaker 1: So what is the most the strongest espresso or coffee
- 32:21Speaker 1: that you have ever had? Taught?
- 32:24Speaker 2: Well, listen, it was like this big, and I the
- 32:28Speaker 2: only I don't drink much of it. I'm not a
- 32:30Speaker 2: big coffee drinker. I'm starting to get in the expresso
- 32:34Speaker 2: a little bit more. The most potent and the most
- 32:38Speaker 2: electric one I ever had was basically a shot, and
- 32:40Speaker 2: it was at the Miami Marlins clubs. Yes whatever whatever
- 32:45Speaker 2: those clubbies made, I tell you right now, I took one.
- 32:49Speaker 2: I went two. Five minutes later, I went, Who's ready
- 32:54Speaker 2: to play? My eyes got locked in, and I'm telling
- 32:58Speaker 2: you I had to have an other one the next day.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Was That's the only place I know where that expresso
- 33:05Speaker 2: got me got me ready to rock?
- 33:07Speaker 4: Yep, yep.
- 33:09Speaker 1: All right, what about you, Eric, I'm telling you he's
- 33:14Speaker 1: not wrong. The Miami the Visiting clubhouse in Miami.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, he just yeah, yeah, they they basically
- 33:23Speaker 3: they cook it right there.
- 33:24Speaker 6: They got there.
- 33:25Speaker 3: The guy that made it for me is was Cuban
- 33:29Speaker 3: and he had his little I don't even know what
- 33:31Speaker 3: you call.
- 33:32Speaker 4: I'm sure there's a name for it, but it's like
- 33:33Speaker 4: a tin. It looks like a pot.
- 33:36Speaker 1: But it's like, no, it's the it's the Yeah, is that.
- 33:42Speaker 4: What it's called. Okay, I didn't know what it was called.
- 33:43Speaker 1: But the machine itself is the But then you have
- 33:48Speaker 1: like the Cuban coffee, and then you have the foam
- 33:51Speaker 1: and the whole thing. But thea is that like it's
- 33:53Speaker 1: it's that silver like little coffee pot with the black handle,
- 33:57Speaker 1: and it's insane.
- 34:01Speaker 4: Look you'll watch. I did it on the day.
- 34:06Speaker 3: I wasn't playing because I'm like, I don't drink coffee.
- 34:09Speaker 3: I don't drink I don't have I don't have a
- 34:11Speaker 3: lot of caffeine. I don't like the taste of coffee.
- 34:14Speaker 3: It's actually delicious.
- 34:16Speaker 4: It was actually delicious, like it felt like they said
- 34:20Speaker 4: it's authentic.
- 34:22Speaker 2: I started talking Spanish after I had my second sip
- 34:25Speaker 2: of the thing.
- 34:26Speaker 6: I'm like, more than bubble, let's go. It was my
