- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take, where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Carlin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Take
- 0:17presented by CK This is episode 424.
- 0:20I'll be your host Kyle Cord, and I'm here with my Co host, Nate
- 0:23Reyes. Nate.
- 0:28Is it? This is one of the last times
- 0:31you're going to hear me as a non honeymoon man.
- 0:36That's. Right, that's right.
- 0:43We're getting out of here. Don't even care.
- 0:47Getting out of here, you get you get two more of me and then
- 0:52you're just going to have to go. How much money are you setting
- 1:06aside? How much money are you setting
- 1:24aside for all the blown speakers that you're going to have to pay
- 1:28for, for all of our listeners? Frankly, I'm not worried about
- 1:32it. Are you?
- 1:32Stockpiling that at all. When there no, I mean when
- 1:35there's when there's a moment worth booing, such as you
- 1:39announcing that you're heading out for a what is it, 10 day
- 1:42long cruise. Eight days but. 8 days.
- 1:46You got to include travel in there, so technically.
- 1:48To include travel 10 days missing from the pod.
- 1:51Regardless, that's that's worth a Boo and frankly, I don't care
- 1:54about the speakers. I won't miss you.
- 1:56I won't miss anybody. I'm gonna be, I'm gonna be
- 2:03dodging pirates out out in the in the open waters.
- 2:10Dodging cannonballs. It's gonna be quite an
- 2:13experience for you out there in the the open sea.
- 2:17That's right. I think I'm gonna find stuff to
- 2:20throw off my deck. You know what I mean?
- 2:24Do you ever do that when you're like way high up?
- 2:27You want to throw something off or like, spit off?
- 2:29Just this. See, I think I'm gonna do that
- 2:33pretty much every morning, I think.
- 2:35Hey, is it true that no, that was that was debunked the whole
- 2:40you can like kill somebody throwing a penny off the Empire
- 2:43State Building. That's that's debunked, right?
- 2:45We we for sure debunked that. I don't think that's possible.
- 2:48Sounds like in Mythbusters episode is that show still
- 2:51going? Who knows it?
- 2:54Was a banger. It was a great show.
- 2:57I think that that was a that was an urban legend.
- 2:59I think that was debunked. But just whatever you do, don't
- 3:03don't kill anybody while you're out there, all right?
- 3:05We'll see. Look, hey, right off the top
- 3:10here. I'm genuinely glad to be here
- 3:12talking baseball. You know, some days you get to
- 3:15it and you're just like kind of doing this, 'cause we need to
- 3:19'cause we gotta, we gotta show up for the people.
- 3:22That's 'cause that's what we do. Not all the time, but you know,
- 3:25there's there's those days and I know it's early in the season,
- 3:27but genuinely excited to be here talking ball with you.
- 3:31But then you'd just, yeah, then you just had to you had to lead
- 3:35off with the the fact that you'll be gone for 10 days.
- 3:37So it's fine. So little shopping and.
- 3:41Packing, riding itineraries, checking in for crap really
- 3:46takes the wind out of you well. Let's talk some base, probably
- 3:53let's talk some baseball. Before we do that though, always
- 3:58as always want to remind you guys to subscribe to the
- 4:01YouTube, subscribe to the podcasts, specifically YouTube,
- 4:05that's as you as you well know if you're a regular listener or
- 4:08if you're a new listener that's that's something we're trying to
- 4:10build up right now, trying to get to 2000 by the end of the
- 4:14year. Would greatly appreciate if you
- 4:17all could hit us with the subscribe again.
- 4:19As I always say if even if you don't watch your podcasts on
- 4:24YouTube including ours, a subscription still helps.
- 4:28So go ahead over and and do that now if you've got, if you got a
- 4:31chance to do that. Create a new e-mail.
- 4:36Create an e-mail for your onboard.
- 4:37He says this every time. He says this every time we're
- 4:40trying to push something, whether it's our seek geek promo
- 4:43code 3 O take, I'm not gonna get into the weeds on that.
- 4:48I'll leave that up to you, depending upon how dedicated of
- 4:50a listener you are, but a subscription would help on
- 4:53YouTube. So do it.
- 4:55Do it. Do it.
- 4:56Now, look, want to get into some Spencer Strider talk?
- 5:02Want to get into some eBay talk? There's some beef between
- 5:06Dodgers. Padres Jordan Montgomery did
- 5:10something big recently and it wasn't pitch.
- 5:13Because of this very reason that we're going to be getting into
- 5:21Mets City connects have possibly leaked.
- 5:26We got some more items beyond that, but before we get into
- 5:29that, got a little trivia here for you.
- 5:30It wasn't planning on sharing this trivia with you or asking
- 5:34you about this trivia because I stumbled upon it in my note
- 5:39preparation just before we hopped on, and it was news to
- 5:42me, and I'm assuming it's news to you as well as the people
- 5:46listening. Do you know what the official
- 5:51score of a forfeited Major League Baseball game is?
- 5:58So if a team has to forfeit for whatever reason, do you know
- 6:02what the score goes in the books as?
- 6:05Like you're saying, like the run score.
- 6:08Correct. Yeah.
- 6:09One, nothing. No, put some thought into it.
- 6:18Just don't throw numbers out there.
- 6:21Give me your best guesstimate. 4 Nothing.
- 6:26I don't know 9 Nothing. Why 9?
- 6:32I have no idea. Maybe it's a run per inning.
- 6:35Couldn't tell you. But now you know.
- 6:38Feel free to share that at your next party or social gathering.
- 6:40You're welcome. News to me just found out today.
- 6:44I was as the as they say I was today, years old Spencer
- 6:48Strider. What's the kids say?
- 6:50As the kids say, Spencer Strider will miss the rest of the
- 6:53season. The 2024 season, that is.
- 6:55After having surgery to repair the UCL, He avoided Tommy John,
- 7:03but he will have done the Has he already had it done?
- 7:11Is he getting it done? I think he already.
- 7:14Did he OK the internal brace surgery?
- 7:17Which, based on what we've heard over the last couple years, I
- 7:21feel like it's becoming a more popular.
- 7:24I'm not saying more popular than Tommy John, but in and of itself
- 7:28it's becoming more popular. It seems to pursue that course
- 7:33of action for these injuries. I know Trevor Story had that
- 7:38done last year or? What's the point?
- 7:44Of leading, leading into last. Year.
- 7:51Tommy John has a typical rehab period of 12 to 18 months, but
- 8:00the internal brace has allowed pitchers to return in as few as
- 8:06nine months. So I think it's based on the
- 8:09severity of the tear slash strain.
- 8:14So the only reason is to basically try and get back for
- 8:21next year slash maybe even opening day for Strider in this
- 8:27situation. Let's say, let's say 9 'cause.
- 8:31This would have been Strider's second TJ.
- 8:33Remember that 'cause that's been a that's been a topic of
- 8:37conversation is a lot of these guys are coming in to their
- 8:43second some even third TJ, which they talk about the success rate
- 8:48or the, I don't know what the right word would you call that
- 8:52like a a success rate? I don't know.
- 8:55I don't know the analytics or the the data that goes into it,
- 8:58but they basically talk about how your odds of returning slash
- 9:03succeeding slash performing at a Major League level goes down
- 9:07drastically with every every Tommy John.
- 9:10So it's not for those who are unfamiliar, it's not it's not
- 9:12just like a plateau where it's like oh you can get a one Tommy
- 9:15John. If you need a second one it's
- 9:17fine. Like no like it it it drops
- 9:20drastically. So say he comes back in nine
- 9:24months, what is that? That's it's mid-april now.
- 9:28So I put him back like spring training.
- 9:34Yeah, January and they got. Got to ramp it up.
- 9:40Yeah. So that's a, you know, that's a
- 9:42huge blow for for the, the Braves, you know, obviously
- 9:46coming in as their ace. But it really seemed as though
- 9:52this year was going to be special.
- 9:53As we talked about in the Hot Tanks and predictions episode
- 9:56before the season started, Spencer Shrider was a big name.
- 10:00A lot of other people agreed. They they felt the same way
- 10:02about it. And, you know, coming in what,
- 10:06what do you have? Two, two starts in the books.
- 10:09The, the strikeout numbers were up.
- 10:11So it just you felt like this was gonna be a year where the
- 10:18baseball world identified a guy who was gonna in fact, be a guy.
- 10:24And it looked as though that was gonna be the case.
- 10:27And we were able, I think we were able to tell that even just
- 10:29two, 2-3 starts in. Yeah, officially Cross off one
- 10:35name on my hot takes and predictions list.
- 10:39I had Spencer Schreider as the NL Cy Young winner.
- 10:44So first one, first hit. Battleship sank.
- 10:51Tough. Super tough.
- 10:54This, I mean, like, I I think there is like this blind faith.
- 11:04Can't call it completely blind, but there is a lot of faith that
- 11:07Braves fans have in Alex Anthropolis.
- 11:11And you can imagine there's gonna be some type of addition
- 11:15to fill in this hole at some point in the season.
- 11:22I don't know the Braves farm well enough to say it's
- 11:25internal. I would go ahead and assume it's
- 11:27most likely some type of trade, but you can't trade for an ace
- 11:31like you're not. There's no replacing him
- 11:35entirely. It's a tough blow, man.
- 11:40It's a real tough blow. I I feel for Braves fans, but at
- 11:46the same time, like, I don't really.
- 11:50I don't know. It's hard to explain.
- 11:52They've been spoiled, you know, And I just, I do feel bad for
- 11:57Quadzilla because I mean that guy's a stud and he's fun to
- 12:00watch and he's, he's good for baseball.
- 12:02And it is, it's kind of tough. But they still have a line up
- 12:07they can hang. What I was thinking is how much
- 12:11stock, how much did Max Freed's stock just rise?
- 12:17Said to be a free agent. This was already a big year.
- 12:23We've seen him lead this staff before, but if he really, truly
- 12:26leads this staff now after this, that raises his number quite a
- 12:34bit and it maybe pushes on some pressure for the Braves to
- 12:43potentially resign, slash, extend him, I don't know.
- 12:48Interesting storyline there and he's looked good to start the
- 12:51year. Yeah, there was.
- 12:55I've been looking for this. There's a graphic floating
- 12:58around and you may have seen it. I can't.
- 13:00I I can't remember where I saw it.
- 13:05Hold on, What was he referring? To.
- 13:11Referring to velocity and how it was like the top, did somebody
- 13:21send it to me how the the top velocities from the 2023 season,
- 13:30I think it was like 8 of the top ten are out or really have
- 13:37gotten TJ or some sort of like internal brace procedure.
- 13:43And I cannot seem to find the list.
- 13:45But like, I think Grayson Rodriguez, Grayson Rodriguez was
- 13:53on there as like one of the the the final arms that were still.
- 14:01Yeah. Healthy, I guess.
- 14:04But it's just alarming. It's it's really alarming how?
- 14:10It's it's alarming. We talked about this last
- 14:12episode that I think it's the the quality of names, 'cause we
- 14:17did talk about how like the. I don't, from what I could tell
- 14:20from the little research I've done, 'cause you know, your boy
- 14:25doesn't really research much, that the numbers haven't really
- 14:27changed over the like the last few years.
- 14:30This is right on par for what we've seen like 2018, 1920.
- 14:34But it's it's the quality of names.
- 14:37It's the league leaders that were they're frontline starters
- 14:42that we're seeing go down for like big names, big teams.
- 14:47I found it. It was a codified tweet or
- 14:50codify whichever shout out Brendan for sending it.
- 14:54Sending it my way. I think it's codified.
- 14:56Fastest average 4 seamer velocity last season from MLB
- 15:00starters with 500 + 500 + 4 seamers thrown.
- 15:05Bobby Miller 99 miles an hour out.
- 15:10Hunter Green 98.3 still available Sandy Alcantara 98
- 15:16miles an hour out Yuri Perez 97.5 out.
- 15:20Grace Rodriguez 97.4 available Spencer Schrider 97 two out.
- 15:26Shane Mcclanahan 96 Eight out. Shohei Ohtani 96.8 out.
- 15:30Garrett Cole 96.7 out. He's crazy, man.
- 15:37It. It goes back to the conversation
- 15:41where we I just this generation specifically has tried to get
- 15:46rid of old heads. They've tried to get rid of old
- 15:50way of thinking. They've tried to eliminate names
- 15:53and and and opinions of guys that have forgotten more about
- 15:58baseball than we'll ever know. And there's a number of older
- 16:03generational pitchers that have said you got to pitch, you can't
- 16:11just throw. Not to say that the names on
- 16:18that list aren't pitching, but I don't know, man.
- 16:25I'd much rather have you stick around.
- 16:27It's it's kind of weird, 'cause you talk about like, like the
- 16:31injury prone position players, how I don't know you and I
- 16:37preach hard 90s. I like hard 90s, but you can see
- 16:41that. Like depending on the situation,
- 16:44you're down five, it's 8th inning and you roll over the
- 16:47shortstop and it's a super routine 2 hopper.
- 16:51You're not going to see that guy busting it down the line.
- 16:54It's a semi hard 90, but maybe he's taking that off.
- 16:58Pitchers don't do that anymore. They don't take any pitches off,
- 17:03They don't take anything off. It's 100% effort 100% of the
- 17:07time, and and now we're seeing what's happening because of it.
- 17:13We got to get back to spotting up, being a better pitcher, a
- 17:21trusting location, trusting your defense to make plays, trusting
- 17:28contact, fighting for strikeouts, constantly driving
- 17:33your your pitch. Count up Max Velo to try and
- 17:38blow it by somebody. Hitters are going to adjust, but
- 17:42imagine a guy that, like, starts the game at 92 and then third
- 17:48time through the order he's like, I got 96, Actually I got
- 17:5297 for you. Hitters are going to time it up.
- 17:58If it's just constantly 98, it's not that difficult for these
- 18:01Major League hitters to figure it out.
- 18:04But if you're changing speed in time of when you're throwing
- 18:08that, emptying the tank fastball, I don't know.
- 18:13But there's a reason it worked for generations.
- 18:16There's a reason why we didn't see elbow injuries like this at.
- 18:21This. Rate much at this rate for this
- 18:23many players, it's just, I don't know, We had to go back to
- 18:29figuring out what we were doing before.
- 18:34Another guy you can add to that list, not necessarily out for
- 18:37the season, but dealing with some arm issues.
- 18:40Bobby Miller, promising arm for the Dodgers who was off to not
- 18:46too bad of a start. Had 18 KS through 11 and 2/3
- 18:51this season over three starts placed on the 15 day IL Saturday
- 18:56night by the Dodgers with right shoulder inflammation.
- 19:00So look we're seeing a lot of names being put on the shelf
- 19:06whether it be 10/15/60 a year, whatever whatever the IL
- 19:11situation is. We're seeing a lot of names like
- 19:14we talked about all with varying varying injuries, varying
- 19:19severities. But the end of the day it just
- 19:22goes back to the conversation that we we were, we've been
- 19:25talking about for the last I feel like couple episodes at
- 19:27this point as more and more names continue to pop up.
- 19:31Is that like you were saying we got to get back to pitchers
- 19:37being able to pitch instead of just throw.
- 19:42We we have to reshape the approach, the narrative
- 19:46surrounding velocity and what it what it means, and what is
- 19:51required to be a good pitcher in baseball, or else if we don't,
- 20:00if nothing changes. You can.
- 20:03You can run all the tests you want.
- 20:04You can run all of these studies like the Major League Baseball's
- 20:07doing. You can do all of that.
- 20:08But if if the philosophy doesn't change, you're going to continue
- 20:12to see arms drop around the league, including top tier
- 20:17talent. And call me crazy, not great for
- 20:21baseball. So I'm.
- 20:22I'm hoping that Major League Baseball takes some initiative
- 20:25here as well as, you know the guys on the bump as well.
- 20:31But these organizations, especially in terms of what
- 20:33they're looking for, what kind of emphasis they're putting on
- 20:38different facets of pitching and and hopefully we can, we can
- 20:43redirect this ship in the right direction.
- 20:48Hit the nail on the head, my man.
- 20:51Speaking of hitting the nail on the head, Ipe Mizahara didn't do
- 20:56that very much when he was dropping his wagers.
- 20:59Can we talk about whether or not you still believe that Ohtani
- 21:10was involved? Yes.
- 21:13Fine. With me.
- 21:26Bring him on. There's no way there's still
- 21:29this giant black hole of Where Did all my money go?
- 21:40OK, so he's not. Lying in he's never looking at
- 21:42his account. He's never getting
- 21:45notifications. He's stop, stop telling me that
- 21:50one man rule is ruled his entire life.
- 21:54What? I'm hearing you say is that and
- 21:57look I'm going into this. I'm I'm going into this with an
- 22:00open mind because it's well documented on this podcast.
- 22:04Shout out our bonus episodes three O change UPS where we talk
- 22:08non baseball things in the offseason.
- 22:10Which we will where? We did a whole.
- 22:12We will get back to. We did a whole episode.
- 22:19Was it on conspiracies, like in general or did we go or no, we
- 22:23we did like? Individual.
- 22:25We did like individual conspiracies, so look, included
- 22:29in those conspiracies, certainly federal corruption in regards to
- 22:37the United States, United States government.
- 22:39So I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that there's no
- 22:43corruption in this situation. However, it's really hard for me
- 22:50to come to terms with the fact that there would be corruption
- 22:58with a Major League Baseball player as opposed to needing to
- 23:05eliminate a president who oh, by the way, is the leader of the
- 23:11free world in John F Kennedy. They're they're like 2
- 23:15completely different things. And you you you could really,
- 23:20you could really draw the line down the middle there and say
- 23:22show Hayes on one side and pretty much any other
- 23:26geopolitical conspiracy is on the other side.
- 23:30I'm. I'm fully on board and hopefully
- 23:32I don't get sniped through my window by some government
- 23:36official for saying this. But I'm fully on board with the
- 23:40fact that, FBICIA, whatever any of the three letter agencies
- 23:46that you want to throw out there, I'm fully on board with
- 23:48the fact and the belief and proposition that they're corrupt
- 23:53and they get their hands into things.
- 23:55And there's some, there's dirty money exchange.
- 23:57I get all that, but I just have a really hard time believing
- 24:01again. I'll say it again, a guy that
- 24:03has a YouTube montage of him picking up trash around Major
- 24:08League Baseball stadiums was involved first hand.
- 24:13Why is that? Any gambling criteria?
- 24:15I don't. Care if you picked up trash?
- 24:18I'm not saying I I I can't sit here and say that, like, betters
- 24:23aren't bad people. I'm not gonna say betters are
- 24:26bad people. I'm looking for something
- 24:28specific here. Here we go.
- 24:31So it was the actual, like, verbiage from whatever these
- 24:35hearings were from. It was evidence, I don't know,
- 24:3819,000 bets, right? That's 25 bets a day on average.
- 24:44Here's where my little, you know, thinking cap goes, roughly
- 24:51ranging from $10 to $160,000 per bet.
- 24:58And you said it was what, 19,000 wagers?
- 25:0119,000 wagers between December 21st and January 2024, ranging
- 25:07from $10 to. 116 Totally 16,000,000 by the way, this was
- 25:13what was. Do, do, do, do.
- 25:16Total winnings of 142,000,000. Total loss of 182,000,000
- 25:22netting $40 million in loss. I thought it was 16.
- 25:32Oh, it was. Winnings versus versus losses,
- 25:36but that's kind of how, I mean you probably just roll over with
- 25:44bookies. Was it 16?
- 25:46Maybe? No, that was the initial.
- 25:48That's was the initial. Number I think.
- 25:50Yeah. And then it came out.
- 25:51That's right. Here's my issue.
- 25:53I think I even posted that 40. Million.
- 25:54Why place the $10 bet? How are you doing 25 bets in the
- 25:59day? I want to know how many
- 26:01duplicate bets there were. 40.7 million by the way, that was
- 26:07the. I'd like to know the duplicates.
- 26:10Explain to me that, explain to me and the people who aren't
- 26:14degenerates. Not saying, not saying you're
- 26:18degenerate, but explain to us no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 26:22Explain to me. Explain to us non hardcore
- 26:25betters. Or really, betters at all, $10
- 26:27bet. If you're betting that hard.
- 26:29If you're going in that much, why do $10?
- 26:32That's what I bet. But what when you say duplicate,
- 26:36what do you what do you mean? 25 bets in a day is insane. 25
- 26:42bets per day is crazy. Sure, I'm trying to figure out
- 26:48how many bets were. Let's just say you take the
- 26:51Dodgers money line at 10 bucks, and then you take the Dodgers
- 26:54money line again later in the day.
- 26:56But you put 100 grand on it. Maybe it pay was the 10 bucks.
- 27:04Maybe Ohtani was the 100 grand. Why as low as $10?
- 27:09Who has less money here? It's it pay, right?
- 27:13I don't know, man. It's the there's too many.
- 27:17This is Swiss. Cheese of stuff.
- 27:19There's too many holes in this. Why do a $10 bet if you're
- 27:23having that much money? If you're using basically what
- 27:26seems like an endless amount of money in this account, Why go
- 27:31down to as low as 10 bucks? And what are you betting on to
- 27:34get 25 bets a day? There's not enough out there.
- 27:39A parlay counts as one bet. So are you are you taking money
- 27:44lines across the league, whatever league you're betting
- 27:46on, I don't understand it. I don't know.
- 27:51And how is it that the bookie's text was like, I know this is a
- 27:56cover up. I've seen the news.
- 27:58I know. Yeah, that was weird.
- 27:59That was that was wild it. Feels like no, no, no.
- 28:02It's it's all me. The report said on March 20th,
- 28:062024, after news broke that at least four and a half million
- 28:08dollars had been transmitted from Ohtani's account to Boyer's
- 28:11operation. Who?
- 28:12Boyer, we've mentioned him in previous episodes, was the
- 28:16bookie, I believe, Mizuhara texted him, asking whether he
- 28:20had seen the media reports. The bookmarker reply or the
- 28:23bookmaker replied yes, but that's all BS.
- 28:27Obviously you didn't steal from him.
- 28:28I understand that it's a cover job.
- 28:30I totally get it, Mizahara replied.
- 28:32Technically, I did steal from him.
- 28:34It's all over for me. I just don't believe that Otani
- 28:40had no knowledge. I refuse to believe that.
- 28:45I will never believe that. But there's whether he partook
- 28:48in the bets or not, I don't know and I don't really care.
- 28:51I'm over it. Like do you, Otani, but like I
- 28:56refuse. Refuse to say that he was
- 29:02completely in the dark for this long, for this much money.
- 29:07There's no way. Yeah, I'm, yeah, I mean, I'm.
- 29:10I'm not gonna say that he was just complete like I I would
- 29:15agree. I have a hard time believing
- 29:18that EE breaking the news in the Dodgers locker room in Korea was
- 29:24the first time Shohei had heard about this.
- 29:26I I also have a hard time believing this.
- 29:28But I go back to my point. Even with the results of this
- 29:32investigation, I I think I still fall back on the belief that I
- 29:37think Shohei and I think you kind of agreed with me in in
- 29:42certain regards to this. But I I think that Shohei was
- 29:45simply just a good guy caught in a situation where he thought he
- 29:50was helping out a buddy before it got blown way out of control
- 29:56and then realized after the fact, oh shoot or not.
- 30:01Maybe not even after the fact, maybe in in the process.
- 30:04Whether it was him coming to the realization or somebody bringing
- 30:08it to his attention, oh shoot, definitely can't do this.
- 30:12How do we go about this now? Yeah.
- 30:16But I'm with you. I don't think he was completely
- 30:18in the dark. I also, I think it's Michael Kay
- 30:22said on his radio show that he thought it was kind of
- 30:26ridiculous that any other player, any other player, during
- 30:32the investigation before the Ohtani's been completely
- 30:36released of any wrongdoing or whatever that he was allowed to
- 30:39play. No one, no one but no one would
- 30:44be allowed to play. It would be administrative leave
- 30:47for any other player. So like knowing that the MLB is
- 30:54going so soft on the situation, knowing that it's been
- 30:58completely swept under the rug in APR standpoint, it just makes
- 31:05you like there's so many holes to this dude.
- 31:08It's just. But that's that, like you hear
- 31:12all the time. Like, oh, you know, life's
- 31:13unfair that this is one of those scenarios where regardless which
- 31:17side of the aisle you're on with this whole show, hay scandal, it
- 31:22was just it was too predictable. It was too predictable.
- 31:25Oh, we knew. If I recall, Wander Franco, once
- 31:33the investigation was announced, was placed on administrative
- 31:36leave. Correct.
- 31:36Within like 24 hours, dude. Like nothing had been determined
- 31:40yet. Like the rumors had obviously
- 31:43circulated and then it I I'm guessing it was brought to the
- 31:46attention of the league and and the he's.
- 31:47Still not even technically guilty yet.
- 31:51Right. So there's a perfect example.
- 31:54Administrative leave. Boom.
- 31:56Shohei Ohtani. Turns out it was $40 million
- 32:00stolen. Hey, get out there and go win a
- 32:03game for the boys in blue. Like it's that's the that's the
- 32:09part I'm kinda on it's and it it's not it's not Shohei that
- 32:14I'm kinda on it's it's the league.
- 32:16It's like you could not be more transparent about your
- 32:20priorities right now and and the value that you or the regard
- 32:25rather that you that you hold Shohei with.
- 32:28It's it's It's so blatantly obvious.
- 32:32I'm with you. And that's where I think the the
- 32:35cover up kind of gets a little muddy.
- 32:38I I don't know how how much, if at all, these federal agencies
- 32:44are involved in any sort of cover up.
- 32:45I frankly, I don't think they care.
- 32:48But I think the league is doing everything that they can within
- 32:51their power to make sure that the blowback, the damage to
- 32:55Shohei's image, is as minimal as possible.
- 33:00How's Wander Franco's investigation going on for like
- 33:038 months? But Ohtani was cleared in a
- 33:05week. Was it even a week?
- 33:09I said. In the evidence that they've
- 33:11like, they confiscated both phones, they read thousands of
- 33:16messages, they went through every ticket that the bookmaker
- 33:19has, and boom, botani's clear. Get out of here, dude.
- 33:24I just, I don't. It doesn't add up and we're
- 33:27never gonna get the full story. And it's frustrating.
- 33:31Not that I'm like sitting here rooting for Ohtani to go down.
- 33:35Like it's not what I'm saying. That's the thing.
- 33:37I just want truth. I want transparency and it's
- 33:41annoying. There are far too many people
- 33:44out there like actively rooting for this to be on Shohei, like
- 33:49solely on Shohei, which I think is weird.
- 33:53And frankly, if. You're a baseball fan?
- 33:55That's weird. Yeah.
- 33:56And and frankly, I I feel that way just about any player that
- 34:02gets caught up in in some sort of scandal until they're proven
- 34:06guilty, where it's like, man, I want this guy to go down for
- 34:10this. It's like, OK, we don't even
- 34:11know the results of the investigation.
- 34:14So what are you rooting? What are you then rooting for?
- 34:17Is it just, 'cause you don't like the guy?
- 34:18Is it 'cause you don't like the team?
- 34:20So the number of Padres fans out there, to be quite honest, I
- 34:26haven't heard many Giants fans. I mean, I'm sure there are
- 34:30Giants fans out there pulling for Shohei's downfall, but
- 34:33Padres fans are the most blatant about this, where they just want
- 34:38they want Shohei kicked out of the league and sent to
- 34:42Guantanamo Bay. It it makes no sense.
- 34:45Jealousy is a dangerous. Oh my goodness.
- 34:49Clean it up, man. Clean it up.
- 34:52Speaking of which, yeah, I've I've just, I'm over.
- 34:56I'm over like. Yeah, you're done.
- 34:58I'm over the story. I'm over the, the, the.
- 35:05No. No offense against passing, but
- 35:06like the the tweet updates and like the just click baity stuff
- 35:14that just completely clears and makes this so forcefully clear
- 35:22cut where we everyone knows. Everyone with a brain knows that
- 35:26it's not clear cut and you're sitting here telling us that it
- 35:28is. I just I no one buys it and I'm
- 35:31over that side of it. I don't.
- 35:34I'm not rooting for Otani to go down because I'm not an idiot.
- 35:38I love baseball more than any other individual or team and I
- 35:43understand that. A monumental generational figure
- 35:47being eliminated for a scandal like this would would burn our
- 35:52sport down, so I don't want that by any means.
- 35:58I just want some clarity maybe after he retires.
- 36:03I doubt how that stuff goes. They'll come out with a an ESPN
- 36:07documentary. That's so like bias in its
- 36:14nature the the point of views that come out of that will be so
- 36:20like heavy leaning on one side versus the other, those things
- 36:24you never get the full story. I know I've been watching
- 36:26Homeland too much, man. It like it makes you, just makes
- 36:31you just wonder what's going on. There's a lot going on behind
- 36:33the curtain. We don't know.
- 36:35There's a lot going on out there in the world, including talking
- 36:40about the Padres, a little benches clearing brawl, whatever
- 36:46that means anymore that that I'm done, I'm done with that term.
- 36:50I want to. I want the ban.
- 36:52I'm ready for the ban. I'm ready for it to get banned.
- 36:57Like ban the term or ban the action of it?
- 36:59Ban the action. I'm It's embarrassing.
- 37:02It's embarrassing for us. It's embarrassing when other
- 37:05sports fans are like, what is this about?
- 37:08I'm like, I don't even know because you got hockey players
- 37:11that are like legit knocking teeth out of out of out of
- 37:16faces. And we got our guys that are
- 37:20just like quiet when it's about to happen.
- 37:23And then as they're walking back to their dugout and they have 15
- 37:27other guys around them, then they start yelling.
- 37:30Yeah, like they have like, literal terms for it in hockey.
- 37:33I'm not a hockey guy, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but I I isn't
- 37:37it? Like, isn't it called a line
- 37:38fight when it's like right off the puck drop?
- 37:42That's what I'm saying. Both teams, all the players go,
- 37:48that and the ref knew it right away.
- 37:50He dropped. He's like, all right, you guys
- 37:52have fun. I'm out.
- 37:53It's sick. I love that.
- 37:55If we're gonna do it, do it. Gosh, man, like do something.
- 38:01Ode to that picture behind you, 'cause that's doing it right
- 38:04there. That man does it.
- 38:08You throw punches, throw punches.
- 38:10Shut up, Nolan. Yeah, I don't.
- 38:15Hey, thanks for pointing that out.
- 38:16I don't think I ever officially pointed that out.
- 38:20I don't know if I don't know if they can see it on the live but
- 38:22got a nice 16 by 20 auto of the Nolan Ryan bloody bloody jersey
- 38:28pick. It's clean.
- 38:30Might be my new prized possession which also side note
- 38:35little little tangent here the. Other one.
- 38:39As a result of of acquiring the 16 by 20, the 8 by 10 that was
- 38:47formerly on the shelf signed by Nolan Ryan.
- 38:50May or may not. We'll see.
- 38:53May or may not be used as a random giveaway for YouTube.
- 38:58Subscriptions. I was thinking about it the
- 39:00other day. I thought, you know what?
- 39:02Who wouldn't like a nice 8 by 10 signed by Nolan Ryan?
- 39:05I'll take it. I know you would maybe, hey, if
- 39:09you subscribe. Are you subscribed to the
- 39:12YouTube channel, by the way? I've never asked you that.
- 39:14And 100% that's he's doing it right now.
- 39:18Did this bench clearing thing happened yesterday?
- 39:20Are you doing it right now? Are you subscribing?
- 39:23No, I'm on. I'm on Tweeter.
- 39:25I'm on X. Yeah, the you talking about the
- 39:28the little scuffle. Yeah, whoa.
- 39:31I just went to my main timeline and I saw us.
- 39:36That's on live shut out. I'm live looking at this.
- 39:39Wow. That's Wildman.
- 39:41That's that's that's Live Ception.
- 39:45Padres Dodgers What should I type in?
- 39:48Type in Jerks and Profar. Jerks and Profar.
- 39:53Yeah dude, it was just weird man.
- 39:56You got Gavin Stone, who was perfect through into what was
- 40:01it, Into the 5th? Into the 6th.
- 40:07And you got jerks and profile thinking that he's getting
- 40:09thrown at. Oh, that's what that was.
- 40:15Have some awareness, man. I saw that and I I I think I
- 40:19like swiped away after exactly. And it wasn't a three O, it was
- 40:24a three O count, wasn't it? No, I don't think it was a walk.
- 40:29Yeah, I don't think it was a walk, but it was, it was like a
- 40:3222021 I think, But I'm like, dude have some awareness and
- 40:39then he was quoted as saying after the fact.
- 40:41That's what that was. I think it was 'cause of the
- 40:43will. I feel like Will Smith nipped
- 40:45that in the bud. Quick.
- 40:47He gives me that vibe. Like, yeah, like, you know, like
- 40:51low key. Don't mess with me vibes.
- 40:54Very much like a he gives off Veritech vibes for sure, For
- 40:59sure, But after the game they asked Profar if he thought it
- 41:04was intentional. He said for a moment I thought
- 41:09so, but he he was throwing a perfect game so he wouldn't do
- 41:12that. So it's like, OK, so then what
- 41:14is what is all this happening? For I think it was the Will
- 41:17Smith chatter, I think it was the the interaction there.
- 41:23Lost the perfect game in the six on a lead off walk to Tyler
- 41:29Wade, but. Shout out, Gavin stood on the
- 41:31fantasy fantasy team, too. It's.
- 41:34It's just I'm, I'm done with the the nonsense.
- 41:39And I'm especially done with Dodgers and Padres fans.
- 41:42Man, I tell you what, I'm all about rivalries and I'm all
- 41:46about trash talk between fan bases.
- 41:48Awfully manufactured doesn't. It it is so.
- 41:51Yeah. Intolerable, Yeah.
- 41:55The the classic Go TOS of LMAO Little Brother syndrome.
- 42:03LOL. This is your World Series LOL.
- 42:06Still one series LOL rent free. I I get that that I I get that
- 42:13that exists amongst other fan bases, but it's so blatantly
- 42:17obvious that Episode 424 blatantly obvious.
- 42:21That's what we're going with. Perfect.
- 42:24It's so blatantly obvious that you that you too.
- 42:27And talking to Dodgers fans on Padres fans, it's so blatantly
- 42:31obvious that you both care way more about the other fan base
- 42:37than you pretend not to. It's so obvious, and it's
- 42:41pitiful. It's really pitiful because if
- 42:44you both are kicking each other and both throwing out jabs, then
- 42:49you're both losers. There's no, there's no true Big
- 42:52Brother in this situation. You would think it's the
- 42:54Dodgers, given their, you know, storied history and and their
- 43:00tradition and legacy and all that and that.
- 43:02You would. You would think that their run
- 43:04of the West for the last decade plus would would give them the
- 43:08upper hand. But they're acting like
- 43:10children. Not the Dodgers, the fans.
- 43:13Not all fans. A good amount of fans.
- 43:17Too many? Come on, if you're if you're
- 43:20truly the Big Brother, then stop giving the attention to Padres
- 43:25fans. It's pitiful, it's embarrassing,
- 43:31and it's not a good look for a fan base who, let's face it,
- 43:35gets enough of a bad rap as it is.
- 43:38Turn in the parking lot into UFC cage matches.
- 43:40It's it's it's too much. I've lost respect for the Padres
- 43:49since that, like, weird old group of dads were singing that
- 43:54song. That's what's in.
- 43:56Yeah, How about that? It's like that.
- 43:58I've lost all. It's all gone.
- 44:00I'm all done. I'm over it.
- 44:02Love your ballpark. Love your ballpark.
- 44:06Still kind of a Tatis fan. Loki.
- 44:08I'll come out and say that. Oh man, I'll tell you what.
- 44:12He puts one into the seats. You feel something?
- 44:14Yeah, but I don't know, dude. It's just a it's weird.
- 44:22It's weird when I I don't know. There's it's like an aimless,
- 44:27directionless organization. And the fan base is just like
- 44:36going along with the ride and not realizing that they have
- 44:40their own issues. You know what I mean?
- 44:44Like, I, I don't know as like a Yankee fan.
- 44:46Like, I just want my entire organization pulling the rope in
- 44:50the same direction. That's all I asked for as a fan.
- 44:52Let's pull the rope in the same direction.
- 44:55Don't lie. To me, Padres fans are like, so
- 45:01scatterbrained and worried about, like, what other teams
- 45:03are doing and, like, it's just like a status thing, you know
- 45:07what I mean? They're like that person on on
- 45:10Instagram just constantly putting out stories.
- 45:13And you're like, I don't. You're just pushing through
- 45:15because you don't want to see him anymore.
- 45:18Just so worried about status. Here you go.
- 45:24If you've ever seen that meme of Michael Phelps, it's like it's
- 45:27like a motivational meme, but it's the picture of Michael
- 45:30Phelps swimming full speed ahead.
- 45:34And then I want to say it was like the guy representing
- 45:38France, I believe in the Olympics that year.
- 45:42I think it was the year that Mike or the Yeah, I think it was
- 45:44the Olympics where Michael Phelps just went off.
- 45:46I mean, he went off in every Olympics, but it was the IT was
- 45:50the picture of Michael Phelps full speed ahead, and the guy in
- 45:52the lane next to him is like noticeably behind him, but he's
- 45:58looking over Phelps. And the whole point is like
- 46:01winners focus on winning, losers focus on, you know, whatever.
- 46:05Else other winners. The thing is, that's both of
- 46:10these teams and their fan bases. That's Dodgers fans and Padres
- 46:15fans. They don't.
- 46:16They don't care anymore about winning.
- 46:18They care about making sure that the other fan base knows about
- 46:24them and knows that they're there and they're present, and
- 46:27that they're quote, UN quote rent free and of all this other
- 46:30nonsense. Super True.
- 46:32Insert Gen. Z quote.
- 46:37What do you call that? Lingo.
- 46:40Slang. Terminology.
- 46:47No cap. No cap.
- 46:51And that's that's on my Mama. And you know what I'm standing
- 46:55on? Business.
- 46:56For real. For real.
- 46:58No. God.
- 46:59On God. For real, you best believe.
- 47:02For real. On God, say less.
- 47:05Say less, bro. Say less, yo, that's on business
- 47:17for. Real is that one.
- 47:18I don't think that's one. No, that's absolutely standing
- 47:22on business on business for real.
- 47:25No cap. Look it up.
- 47:26No cap. Yo, what a transition.
- 47:31Speaking of standing on business, Jordan Montgomery
- 47:34said. Hey, Scott Morris, freaking take
- 47:37a hike, pal. Good for you, man.
- 47:41Start the trend. Good for you.
- 47:43All right, so if you're unfamiliar, if you're unaware,
- 47:48Jordan Montgomery, who as you know, signed very late, very
- 47:52late, signed a one year, 25 mil deal with the D backs back at
- 47:57the end of March. He decided to I'm just going to
- 48:04say it Fire Scott Boris. I originally had that in my
- 48:08notes and I'm like, wait a minute, is that the language I
- 48:10should be using And in the official report on ESPN it said
- 48:16fired Scott Boris. So I said you know what I'm if
- 48:18they said I'm gonna, I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go with fired.
- 48:21I'm not gonna go parted ways I'm not gonna go mutually agreed to
- 48:28find another option. No, Jordan Montgomery said.
- 48:34Thanks, but no thanks. You're washed.
- 48:38It's excellent. It really is excellent.
- 48:40I love it. I'm excited.
- 48:43I hope this starts to trend. I I saw a tweet and forgive me,
- 48:47I I don't recall who said it, but it was it was just a a
- 48:52banger of a tweet that said it was something along lines of
- 48:56paraphrase. I don't remember it verbatim,
- 48:57but it was like my mom asked me if I did the dishes and I just
- 49:01said Scott Boris. She looked at me and smiled.
- 49:04She knew it. She knew they were washed.
- 49:07I'm like, that's where we're headed, man.
- 49:09That's that is, that is the stage in the game at which we
- 49:15are at Scott Boris is starting to lose his.
- 49:20Well he he was one of the Boris 4 Montgomery was this offseason
- 49:25so starting to chip away at that and I would venture to say that
- 49:29like you said I I think a trend is is about to unfold here
- 49:35because look you can't you're messing with these guys lives
- 49:39and I understand that you're trying to get the most money and
- 49:41that if you're able to do that then you're helping them out but
- 49:45you run the risk of of jamming these guys up and I mean I'll
- 49:49I'll touch on it here towards the end but look at a guy like
- 49:51Blake Snell you you assume he's gonna be fine even though he's
- 49:54starting late has not looked good thus far it through.
- 50:00I think it's two starts so I I think his clients are going to
- 50:04start looking at around the league and going I'd it's not
- 50:07worth it man. I'd rather go in I'd rather get
- 50:09a competitive offer and and even make a compromise if I have to.
- 50:13But I'd I'd like to keep my image intact and I would like to
- 50:17keep my my offseason and in season rhythms intact by making
- 50:24sure that I'm, you know, starting the season on time with
- 50:27the rest of the league. So I don't know, man.
- 50:31I'm I'm I'm just really out on Scott Boris.
- 50:35I I really AM. And apparently, so is Jordan
- 50:37Montgomery. Yeah.
- 50:40I think there's like as these salaries start climbing and I I
- 50:47there's got to be players that look at it different ways of
- 50:49like what the money does and what the money represents and
- 50:55like obviously being at the top of your game in your field like
- 50:58it. It is a representation of what
- 51:00you've done and what you're going to do when you get that
- 51:03big contract, when you're in a a league leading AAV status or
- 51:09length of contract status. But you're starting to see guys
- 51:14that I don't know that I, I maybe there is this flip of a
- 51:18switch of like, well, maybe money isn't everything #1, #2,
- 51:24like maybe other factors have to start coming into play, right?
- 51:30Ohtani with this crazy deal with everything deferred.
- 51:36You talk about how like Bryce Harper has like fallen in love
- 51:39with the city of Philly. No opt outs in a 13 year deal or
- 51:42whatever it is. There's other factors into this
- 51:47and it just seems to me like Scott Boris is so about
- 51:52maximizing dollar amount. Then there's like this
- 51:55manipulation of his clients saying well you deserve more so
- 51:59I'm going to find you more. And then maybe Jordan Montgomery
- 52:04starts this snowball effect of like these other players that
- 52:07maybe will feel similarly and say you know what, like maybe
- 52:12team success, maybe location for my family, stability,
- 52:17consistency are bigger factors than whatever this dollar amount
- 52:21is that Boris is seeking. And I can't help but but want to
- 52:28give, you know Jordan Montgomery, a big pat on the
- 52:31back for this decision where it's for sure against the trend
- 52:36and of the four names. I mean you could argue that like
- 52:44I don't know. I feel like Cody Bellinger would
- 52:46be the the bigger pissed off one of the crew.
- 52:49You know what I mean as far as upside and and what he's done in
- 52:54the past and arguably the most talent of that group, I would
- 52:58say that's probably one of the bigger disappointments.
- 53:01So I don't know, man. I'd like to see a couple more
- 53:04names come out and say I'm moving on and I'd like to see
- 53:08other agents come into play. And I'm sure GMs would love to
- 53:11see other names come into play saying, hey, I want to deal with
- 53:14people that are like that are humans, not just, you know,
- 53:21money driven vampires. That's pretty on point isn't it?
- 53:29Scott, Boris. Money driven vampire.
- 53:31Well, that's The thing is, is your the the point you made
- 53:35about Scott Boris being a guy that identifies or or perceives
- 53:41the value that his client has and said you know what, you
- 53:47deserve more money. I'm gonna go find you more
- 53:50money. Look, I don't know the guy, but
- 53:56I think it's safe to say that Scott Boris is not that
- 54:00altruistic in terms of his motives.
- 54:04The reality is he goes out, finds his client more money,
- 54:08he's getting a greater cut of that money.
- 54:12So I I is, is I as idealistic as it would be to sit here and say,
- 54:17well, you know, Scott Borce is you, you can't hate on the guy,
- 54:21'cause he's just looking out for his clients.
- 54:22He's trying to maximize their value.
- 54:24It's like at the end of the day, his job, what pays him and what
- 54:31increases his pay is increasing the value or the money, the
- 54:35dollar amount that he brings in for his clients.
- 54:38So it's. We talked about how like it's
- 54:42it's like this super weird terms that he has too, you know what I
- 54:48mean? Like he like he's requested to
- 54:51be a part of every press conference with his players and
- 54:54he has to be sitting up next to his like pushing the wife down a
- 54:59seat so he can sit closer to his client and be in the frame.
- 55:02It's just it's weird, man. It's weird mentality.
- 55:06It's it's weird actions. I I think it's pretty obvious
- 55:09that GMs are fed up with it. It's kind of cool to see that
- 55:12players are getting a little fed up with it and maybe I'm just
- 55:16putting this out there. I would love to see Soto go in a
- 55:19different direction, save some money this offseason for for his
- 55:23contract. Yeah, that's a good point.
- 55:26I this is not an offseason that I think Juan Soto.
- 55:29I mean, maybe if he maybe he's got the wool overs guys.
- 55:32Maybe he just he doesn't realize it.
- 55:33But this is not an offseason that you wanna You wanna
- 55:36freaking foul up if you're Juan Soto.
- 55:39Yeah, yeah, there's a yeah, this cannot be a repeat thing and I
- 55:45don't know if other players, if it's a domino effect and other
- 55:48other players start bailing, who knows what that means for
- 55:52potential clients that haven't hit their biggest free agency
- 55:56yet. Not good for old Scotty B Med
- 56:04City Connects. It appears as though we have a
- 56:07leak. I love a good old leak.
- 56:12And I will, I will say we've said, we've said on here before,
- 56:15I'll say it again, I don't think we've ever had a leak come out
- 56:22where it wasn't the jersey that ended up being the final
- 56:26product. Sure.
- 56:28So if that trend holds true, if you just Google, if you type on,
- 56:35if you search on social media, Med city connects as we're
- 56:38talking about it, you can pull it up, you'll see what we're
- 56:40talking about. But it's I'm not a fan I'll just
- 56:47say that and and look I didn't I didn't want to make this segment
- 56:51a real long one. I know we've talked about city
- 56:55connects at length before and frankly there's some people that
- 56:57that listen who are like OK we get it you guys you guys talk
- 57:01about jerseys a lot and look I understand I agree Our I will
- 57:06say though our talk about jerseys recently has been more
- 57:09on the Fanatic side and less about these city connects or
- 57:12alternates or whatever. It's more about just the fiasco
- 57:15that is Fanatics but it's just it's just more it's further
- 57:23confirmation that the City Connect's trend the concept is
- 57:29dwindling. It's it's fading so fast.
- 57:33It's dead. The fall off is so real, like
- 57:36we're just not seeing good uniforms anymore with these City
- 57:41Connect releases and this. This is one of those uniforms I
- 57:46don't understand. And and their teasers on social.
- 57:48The Mets were hinting at purple, like there's a lot of purple in
- 57:53their teasers. So I couldn't tell is that
- 57:55purple or pink? Is that that's purple?
- 57:58It looks like the accents, the pictures that I'm looking at
- 58:02which by the way I I think I commented on our post but tell
- 58:07me that's not like the great value.
- 58:10Patrick Mahomes Yeah, that's like, that's like the Walmart
- 58:14brand. Patrick Mahomes.
- 58:15Very very strange. Pat Mahomes on Wish, yeah.
- 58:19On on T MU or whatever. Yeah, it looks like T MU.
- 58:24I haven't. It's it's kind of tempting
- 58:27though like it I've I've seen some hits on there.
- 58:31I've seen some hits. I've seen obviously some where
- 58:34they're just they the people get garbage.
- 58:36But I'm like what if you luck in the in one of those hits.
- 58:39I don't know. Anyway, the the picture that I'm
- 58:43looking at, it looks like a purplish Gray.
- 58:47It just looks like a very dull color with, again, purple
- 58:51accents, very like old timey kind of font on the front NYC.
- 58:59It's it's it's uninspiring and you just know they're gonna make
- 59:03these lame connections. They we talked.
- 59:06We just talked about this. They reverse engineer these
- 59:10uniforms. They go out, they make a jersey
- 59:12like, oh, that looks fire. And then they're like, how can
- 59:15we make the connections to the city now?
- 59:18Because that's the only way that I believe that they they could
- 59:22do this because there's no way that you could have such
- 59:26stretches like they're reaching hard to connect these elements
- 59:34of these city connect jerseys to the city and I don't know what
- 59:38they're gonna try to pull for this one but I'm I'm just so I'm
- 59:43so done with with these. I'm looking at the picture you
- 59:47tweeted out. Is is Matric Pahomes wearing
- 59:53sweats in this picture? Yeah, I I'm 99.
- 59:57Percent of the uniform, right? No, I'm 99% sure which part,
- 1:00:03like honestly kind of worries me.
- 1:00:06Because I'm like what are we not seeing?
- 1:00:08Like, is this is it a continuation of the jersey color
- 1:00:12that we're seeing? Are they gonna drop us?
- 1:00:14Are they gonna drop some more black pants on us?
- 1:00:17Where are we headed with this? And it kind of, it kind of
- 1:00:20worries me. But again at this point I don't
- 1:00:21really care. So I'm not like genuinely
- 1:00:23worried it. I I'm, I'm out on these and talk
- 1:00:27about it. If if this ends up being another
- 1:00:29in fact garbage shitty connect, it's the Mets.
- 1:00:32So. Yeah, like whatever very.
- 1:00:34Fitting, Very fitting. The hat looks stupid, just it's
- 1:00:40the original logo. You just threw a circle around
- 1:00:42it some writing. I I will say I I I read that was
- 1:00:48an alternate. I read that that's that is like
- 1:00:51a that that's like a like a team store kind of hat.
- 1:00:55The actual hat, I believe has the logo on the hat, maybe in
- 1:01:02purple, might just be in orange. But it has the What is that?
- 1:01:05The Queen's Bridge? Is that the name of it?
- 1:01:10Queen's Bridge? Am I remembering that right?
- 1:01:12Queensboro. Queensboro Bridge?
- 1:01:14Yeah, across. Like, think above the brim.
- 1:01:17Like across the front. King of Queens song.
- 1:01:21Yeah, there you go. So yeah, that I heard that that
- 1:01:24is not the hat, but that the on field hat is featured elsewhere.
- 1:01:31I actually don't really hate the jersey that much.
- 1:01:34It doesn't accept me enough if you drop this as like a hey, the
- 1:01:40Mets alternate jersey. But like the City connect thing,
- 1:01:43I'm over. I'm done with it.
- 1:01:44I'm out. I'm fully out.
- 1:01:46I'm all done. I hate it.
- 1:01:47I'm over it. Half of them suck this one.
- 1:01:52Yeah, like if you were playing MLB The Show and you were like,
- 1:01:54hey, let's play the old Timers Day where they like, you know,
- 1:01:58both teams are wearing old timer stuff.
- 1:02:00I wouldn't. I wouldn't hate this one.
- 1:02:05Yeah, but like, I had people hit me up in the comments and in the
- 1:02:08replies being like, you don't think this is fire with like a
- 1:02:12cloud emoji. I'm like, OK pal, I think it's
- 1:02:17OK let's just dial it back. Let's not hype these things up
- 1:02:20as if they're the greatest of this series or just in general
- 1:02:27that stop fooling yourselves. These aren't that good.
- 1:02:31But I will. To your point, I there were
- 1:02:33there were surprising people that were like that were like,
- 1:02:36yeah, I actually don't. I actually don't mind them.
- 1:02:38I'm like, how how do you not mind these?
- 1:02:44I I don't know. I think I've just come to expect
- 1:02:47them to be garbage. So maybe there's an inherent
- 1:02:51bias upfront that it's possible. I can't look at them clearly
- 1:02:55with that's possible. I don't know.
- 1:02:58I'm done talking about it though.
- 1:02:59I'm. I'm out.
- 1:03:01I'm out. What does it matter who?
- 1:03:04They're probably not even going to have the uniforms delivered
- 1:03:06on time once they're released. So why?
- 1:03:07Why does it even matter? Well, it doesn't even matter.
- 1:03:13Let's see here. Closing the book.
- 1:03:18Wrapping up here. Don't want to get too deep?
- 1:03:23Closing the book, Jackson Holiday recorded his first hit
- 1:03:26today. Cheryl Jackson Holiday started
- 1:03:29off a little slow there. Maddie Maddie Holiday can go
- 1:03:32home now. Speaking of which, don't know if
- 1:03:37you saw any of the the videos that came from it, but I think
- 1:03:42Maddie Holiday and Jackson's wife were sitting in the Ripken
- 1:03:47seats today. And Cal Rip, they got the hit.
- 1:03:50Cal Ripken like looks over and they're like he's like high five
- 1:03:53in the family like looks over and and high five's Jackson's
- 1:03:57wife and I'm like this is like a a 90s baseball kids like fever
- 1:04:05dream like Matt Holiday is sitting next to Cal Ripken
- 1:04:08watching a a 20 year old son and his wife who people thought were
- 1:04:13his mom. They they sat on the Orioles
- 1:04:16broadcast. They're like, oh, look down
- 1:04:18there, Mom and dad looking real happy after Jackson gets his
- 1:04:21first hit. It was his wife, Jackson Holiday
- 1:04:25is married. I don't.
- 1:04:26I don't know. Apparently not as.
- 1:04:28Not as much people knew that as I thought.
- 1:04:30But yeah, that's. This is weird and it also makes
- 1:04:34me feel very old that I'm yeah. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:04:40Just crazy keeping it in Baltimore, though.
- 1:04:43Colton Kowser we you and I were talking about a little before we
- 1:04:45hopped on White Hot the milkman. As he's being labeled.
- 1:04:52He is swinging a hot stick. Good beard too.
- 1:04:55A great beard. And the memes?
- 1:04:57They're a. Flowing a lot of, a lot of
- 1:04:59dairy, a lot of cows. It's good.
- 1:05:01A lot of milk, that's good. And I don't know if you.
- 1:05:04Don't know if you. Saw my tweet, but maybe.
- 1:05:09Making, making the proposition. To bring back the Cal Ripken Got
- 1:05:15Milk campaign, the ad campaign, and then.
- 1:05:20Somebody was like, hey. Let's run, let's run that with
- 1:05:23Colton. Like I was just resurfacing that
- 1:05:25ad campaign just because, you know, a lot of milk on the brain
- 1:05:28now with with Colton Kowser. But somebody's like, why don't
- 1:05:31they just reshoot that ad campaign with Colton?
- 1:05:33And I'm like, that's a fabulous idea.
- 1:05:36I'd say give it the rest of the year.
- 1:05:37Maybe you do that next year? What you got now, I disagree.
- 1:05:42You got to do it while the. You got to strike all the irons
- 1:05:45high. Let him, let him.
- 1:05:46Let him establish himself a little.
- 1:05:48Bit before he starts recreating Cal Ripken moments.
- 1:05:53But. If you it's an ad.
- 1:05:54It was an ad. We're not recreating like on
- 1:05:57field moments. It's literally a commercial with
- 1:05:59the the milk mustache. When did where?
- 1:06:03Where do you? Think we were in.
- 1:06:05Time where the the switch got flipped that it was like, hey,
- 1:06:08maybe we don't need to drink milk that much.
- 1:06:11Maybe dairy, like, isn't the greatest thing to consume, you
- 1:06:15know what I mean? Because as a kid, that was like
- 1:06:18shoved down our throats advertising.
- 1:06:20Got milk, drink, milk. Milk's great for you, it's good
- 1:06:23for your bones, strong bones, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:06:26That was, we were. We were force fed.
- 1:06:29That and then all of a sudden we flipped this switch where it was
- 1:06:32like maybe ease off a little. Bit on the dairy intake.
- 1:06:38The literal you I'm. Glad you mentioned that the.
- 1:06:40Literal Cal Ripken ad that I tweeted It's again, it's just
- 1:06:44for milk, which is a point I'll get to shortly.
- 1:06:47In just a moment. The the cow Ripken ad said with
- 1:06:51all it's a picture of cow sitting there with a bat in his
- 1:06:53hand. He's holding a a just a plain
- 1:06:56Jane glass of milk. It says with all the milk I
- 1:06:59drink, my name might as well be Calcium Ripken Junior really.
- 1:07:03I'm a huge milk fan. Besides being loaded with
- 1:07:06calcium, there's nothing like it when it's ice cold.
- 1:07:09Which is why I drink the recommended 3 glasses a day.
- 1:07:13And as you do probably guess, I'm not one to miss a day.
- 1:07:17Milk. Where's your mustache?
- 1:07:203 glasses of milk a day. I would evaporate off the face
- 1:07:24of the earth if I had three glasses of milk a day.
- 1:07:27RIP my plumbing if I did. Oh.
- 1:07:34Stomach hurts just hearing that. Oh my goodness.
- 1:07:37But I don't think I've had a full.
- 1:07:38Glass of milk in. I don't know, maybe 15 years.
- 1:07:42I couldn't even tell you the last time, dude, if I if I went
- 1:07:46to have a full glass. Of milk.
- 1:07:47I would probably have to preface opening the fridge by saying,
- 1:07:50well, I hope I'm prepared to ruin the rest of my day because
- 1:07:54I'm out of Commission at that point.
- 1:07:56Not it's not good for anyone involved.
- 1:07:58Heartburn already. But but my point.
- 1:08:02About. The the whole, like, milk thing.
- 1:08:08I don't feel like this got talked enough.
- 1:08:10And I know we're talking like a lot about milk.
- 1:08:12I wasn't anticipating talking about milk this much, but
- 1:08:15somebody hold on, I gotta find it here.
- 1:08:22Where is it? Oh, yeah, OK.
- 1:08:24So I put out that tweet and I was like, with the Milkman
- 1:08:26Colton cows ran fuego. There's no better time to break
- 1:08:29out the Calvin Milk ad campaigns.
- 1:08:32And then somebody quote tweeted and said.
- 1:08:34Cowser. Side Can we talk about unhinged?
- 1:08:36This entire ad campaign was, and then it reminded me of a tweet
- 1:08:40that I had seen like a while back.
- 1:08:42It was just like some meme floating around on Instagram or
- 1:08:44something. But the Guy Kyle plant emoji
- 1:08:50tweeted. Still not over the fact that
- 1:08:52there was a whole ass ad campaign for years promoting
- 1:08:55milk. Just milk.
- 1:08:56Not a brand of milk. Just the concept, the idea of
- 1:09:00milk. And when I saw that, it took me
- 1:09:03back to when I was a kid and I'm like, what did I think?
- 1:09:05Who did I think was running this campaign?
- 1:09:08Like, what was that about? Why?
- 1:09:09Why? Why was that a thing?
- 1:09:11What were we doing was like the government behind this, like
- 1:09:14trying to get. People to I'll I'll go get the
- 1:09:17foil right. Now I I don't.
- 1:09:20Understand now again, maybe that's what's wrong with us.
- 1:09:24Maybe. It is.
- 1:09:25You couldn't pay me to have three.
- 1:09:26Glasses of milk. Today much less, much less. 2632
- 1:09:31days worth of three glasses of milk, the last cat milk.
- 1:09:35Was dunking Oreos into it. And when I was done with the
- 1:09:38Oreos, I just poured the the milk down the drain.
- 1:09:41I was not gonna drink that. That's how you do it.
- 1:09:44Yeah. Andrew McCutchen notched his
- 1:09:48300th career home run today. Love to see that?
- 1:09:51Love that. The Very good Hall of Fame.
- 1:09:53The Very good Hall of Fame. The Hall of Very Good.
- 1:09:57The Hall of Very Good. The Hall of Very Good.
- 1:10:01I mentioned. Earlier, Blake Snell when we
- 1:10:04were talking Jordan Montgomery and guys who have not responded
- 1:10:08well to a late start. Blake Snell.
- 1:10:10His last shout out? Jason Stark on Twitter, he said.
- 1:10:13Blake Snell's last seven starts as a Padre 5 earned runs.
- 1:10:19Blake Snell's first seven innings as a giant 10 earned
- 1:10:25runs. Seven starts to.
- 1:10:30Finish out the. Season last Year 5.
- 1:10:32Runs first seven innings. Not he did.
- 1:10:36He did have a a pretty. Rough start last year to the
- 1:10:40year, so who knows, maybe he turns it on.
- 1:10:46I'm just saying his last outing. 4 innings pitched, six hits,
- 1:10:49seven earned runs, two walks, 4 KS, 78 pitches.
- 1:10:53Just saying somebody that's not. However worried.
- 1:10:57About a slow start, Marcelo. Zuna tearing.
- 1:11:02The cover off the ball, and it was actually requested that I
- 1:11:06include Marcelo Zuna in the notes for today's episode
- 1:11:10because it was mentioned that he's not getting the love he
- 1:11:14deserves. Understandably so.
- 1:11:16I apparently it's I had seen that this was.
- 1:11:20I don't know if this is accurate.
- 1:11:21Again, Twitter's unhinged. Don't know how much there is,
- 1:11:25how much accuracy there is to this, but apparently their their
- 1:11:28tweet, Major League Baseball's tweet about Ozuna today was like
- 1:11:32the first tweet about Ozuna in like over a year.
- 1:11:37I think I saw maybe longer. Couldn't tell you.
- 1:11:44So I if if that's accurate. I mean I guess the the point
- 1:11:47stands that he yeah maybe he hasn't getting the attention he
- 1:11:50deserves but he is tearing the cover off the ball tied to be
- 1:11:52honest. I think a lot of Braves fans
- 1:11:54went a while. Without talking about him too.
- 1:11:56So yeah, but I think weird for all of them to just come.
- 1:12:00To his defense. Yeah, no, I I agree with you.
- 1:12:03Yeah, but. I think now I think they're
- 1:12:06they're like, yeah, Ozuna, that's a guy hated him for like
- 1:12:11a year. Very strange.
- 1:12:15But again, tied. For most home runs in.
- 1:12:17Baseball after a 7th home run today is tied with Tyler O'Neill
- 1:12:22who who already mentioned episode prior having a a heck of
- 1:12:29a start to to his own season. So very interesting names to be
- 1:12:33atop that race this early, but we'll see how that how that pans
- 1:12:38out for for those names. Lastly here before we get to our
- 1:12:44grand finale promise, we're almost done.
- 1:12:47Wanted to get your thoughts on the Nestor move today.
- 1:12:51Pump fake? Yeah, what the heck was?
- 1:12:54That what was he doing? He's not a fan and I think he
- 1:12:58paid for it. As well 'cause the start was not
- 1:13:00good. I hate it.
- 1:13:05I mean, I I understand the drop down occasional like sidearm
- 1:13:10stuff. That's kind of cool, the
- 1:13:13occasional like, different hitch 'cause you see certain starters.
- 1:13:19Doing that now. Like, different little hit, like
- 1:13:21a little bit of a pause that I get.
- 1:13:23I'm not a fan of the pump fake. I don't even know if it's legal.
- 1:13:27They said that on the broadcast too.
- 1:13:28They were like, I don't even know if he's allowed to do that.
- 1:13:32I mean, how could it? Yeah, I saw a lot of people out
- 1:13:35on base, obviously. So can't boss.
- 1:13:38Yeah, but I'm like, how could it not be?
- 1:13:40Legal. Like, did they?
- 1:13:44Did they? Outlaw the.
- 1:13:46The. Like the old timey wind up from
- 1:13:48like the early 1900s. Like could you do that if you
- 1:13:51wanted to from the from the wind up.
- 1:13:55Because if you do that, that's in theory that's that's no
- 1:13:59different than what Nestor did today.
- 1:14:01Yeah, I don't. I'm over it like.
- 1:14:03You're only allowed to do this if you're doing well and you're
- 1:14:06not doing well. You're creeping very much into
- 1:14:09the Jeremy Lin category and I'm not excited about it.
- 1:14:16Mm hmm. It's true.
- 1:14:19That's. Tough.
- 1:14:20Now the lightning. Is escaping the bottle.
- 1:14:23Quickly, rapidly. That's tough.
- 1:14:36Yep. That's tough, All right.
- 1:14:41Look, wrapping up for good here. I had the idea.
- 1:14:46I ran it by Nate. I want to start wrapping up each
- 1:14:49episode where we share a just it could maybe be related to what
- 1:14:57we talked. About, but really, it's.
- 1:14:58Just kind of like an opportunity for us to share A1 off, take
- 1:15:02maybe something we've been stewing on, maybe something we
- 1:15:04got a rather strong reaction to maybe from that day, from that
- 1:15:09week or just a random thing that we're thinking about that's you
- 1:15:12know maybe bass prolated, typically bass prolated, maybe
- 1:15:15not. And I wanted I I ran up by you
- 1:15:18this weekend and and thought maybe we could roll that out
- 1:15:20today. So with that said, do you have
- 1:15:24something that you've brought to the table for today?
- 1:15:28I do, I do. It's kind of spicy.
- 1:15:31I didn't mean for it to be this spicy.
- 1:15:33Before you get into that, I think we're gonna.
- 1:15:36Turn it over to you guys. We need, we're gonna need a name
- 1:15:39here for this little this little segment thing.
- 1:15:43Going to need a little. Going to need some help with
- 1:15:45that so. Feel free to think on it and let
- 1:15:47us know we're going to creativity with it, if you will.
- 1:15:50We're going to let the. Wind take it.
- 1:15:52Are you ready? What do you got, man?
- 1:15:55Drop it on me. Seattle Mariners are ruining
- 1:16:00Julio Rodriguez. I don't know what's going on up
- 1:16:07there. I'm hating it because I was
- 1:16:13excited. A few years ago I saw that there
- 1:16:16was this corner that they were starting to turn, and I know
- 1:16:20it's early into the season, but I don't really care.
- 1:16:23Offensively, it's atrocious pitching.
- 1:16:25They're middle of the road. Offensively, they're third to
- 1:16:28last in OPS, 3rd to last in the average, tied for third to last.
- 1:16:35In home runs. Tied for third to last and run.
- 1:16:41Scored Julio Rodriguez, 15. Games 21 strikeouts.
- 1:16:52A 441 OPS right now, I don't know what's.
- 1:16:57Going on, I I watched. A ton of talent in this
- 1:17:01superstar in the making at the Home Run Derby, and it's just
- 1:17:06crashing and burning. And I'm not saying it's solely.
- 1:17:11Because of him I. Think it's this aimless
- 1:17:13organization. I think this, this team that
- 1:17:17just continues to do weird stuff and be satisfied with like a
- 1:17:23wild card run at the end of each August and September.
- 1:17:27I'm I'm over it and I don't like it.
- 1:17:29And I feel bad for the kid and I think it's an organizational.
- 1:17:34Thing. So yeah, that's what I'm going
- 1:17:36to throw at you. I think the Seattle Mariners are
- 1:17:39I I think they're they're ruining slash wasting Julio
- 1:17:44Rodriguez. I don't know how to tell you.
- 1:17:51I don't know how to tell you this my.
- 1:17:53Friend I kid, you not. I kid you, not you.
- 1:17:58Just went into that little that you you dropped a take.
- 1:18:01It was certainly spicy, I'll give you that.
- 1:18:04But I was I I switched back from my notes to Twitter real quick,
- 1:18:08just to make sure nothing happened in the last 30 minutes
- 1:18:10We were talking. Did he just say one?
- 1:18:13What? The top.
- 1:18:14Tweet I I'm. Not joking.
- 1:18:17It's the literal top tweet on my timeline right now.
- 1:18:21The Cubs. Literally.
- 1:18:23Ended the game. Against the Mariners by picking
- 1:18:27off Julio Rodriguez's at 1st. So I'm sitting here watching
- 1:18:30this clip of Julio that makes me feel a certain way, getting
- 1:18:34nabbed at first. To end the game.
- 1:18:35Meanwhile, Nate. 'S over here just preaching the
- 1:18:39Mariners are ruining Julio Rodriguez.
- 1:18:43There's there's just some comedic poetry to that.
- 1:18:46That's how I like that. To your point, in a grander
- 1:18:48sense, sans getting picked off to end today's game.
- 1:18:53I'm kind of with you, man. There was that that corner that
- 1:18:56you're talking about that they were turning.
- 1:18:58I was. I remember it.
- 1:18:59I was like, all right now we go Seattle and it just and not.
- 1:19:04I'm not I'm not like writing them off for 2024 on April 14th.
- 1:19:09Anything can happen with the with the Mariners.
- 1:19:11Maybe they do turn that eventual corner.
- 1:19:13But it seemed like it kind of fizzled out a little bit and you
- 1:19:17know it it's it's tough to see a guy like that be dealt that
- 1:19:23reality. But you know it.
- 1:19:25It's still somewhat early but I better, better, right the ship
- 1:19:28soon. Just saying.
- 1:19:31Just something to watch out. For for me look.
- 1:19:38I was. I was bouncing.
- 1:19:39Between a few ideas of. Something I wanted to start off
- 1:19:42with some were maybe player specific, like like yours, some
- 1:19:47team. A couple ideas I had were team
- 1:19:50specific, but I thought, you know what, I'm gonna kick this
- 1:19:52thing off talking about something.
- 1:19:56That I've. Expressed passionately before
- 1:20:01that, I still stand behind. There is not a single problem
- 1:20:10referring to. Yourself.
- 1:20:13As we When talking about your favorite team, there is not a
- 1:20:18single problem with that at all. Pop off King the.
- 1:20:25Amount of money that we. Spend as fans.
- 1:20:29The amount of time that we spend as fans, the energy that we
- 1:20:33expend as fans, I'm gonna say we when.
- 1:20:40The team wins the. World Series or the
- 1:20:44championship, For whatever sport you're following.
- 1:20:48We won the championship. Yes, we.
- 1:20:54You go into next season, we are the.
- 1:20:56Reigning champs. Yeah, you.
- 1:20:59You bet. I'm gonna say that.
- 1:21:02OK what sparked it was I saw I, the Guardians taking a major Li
- 1:21:10mean they they won the game today but on on Twitter they.
- 1:21:17They posted the. The result?
- 1:21:22It was a walk off today against against your Your Yankees.
- 1:21:26Mine. Yes, us, your Yankees.
- 1:21:29And. Somebody the what was the
- 1:21:33caption? Like the Yankee fans are about
- 1:21:34to drop their excuses below or whatever.
- 1:21:37And then somebody commented. Some Yankee fan dropped in and
- 1:21:41was like, yeah, they said and we won the series though and then
- 1:21:47Cleveland comes back and hits him with we in quotations as if
- 1:21:52to say like, who's we guardians? Congrats.
- 1:21:58On the dub. You couldn't be more wrong.
- 1:22:01Here, I'm absolutely going to refer to.
- 1:22:05I'm going to use the term we when referring to my favorite
- 1:22:09team daily. Daily without a prop like
- 1:22:14without issue. No hesitation here and I.
- 1:22:18If you disagree, you're wrong. I don't.
- 1:22:21I don't say that always. I don't say it often, really,
- 1:22:27but I I stand behind it. If you.
- 1:22:29Disagree with the fact that I'm gonna, I'm gonna say we when a
- 1:22:34friend of my team you're you're wrong.
- 1:22:35And I hope you know that I have a permanent.
- 1:22:40Marker on my body. It's in my blood, baby.
- 1:22:45You already. Know it's us.
- 1:22:47It's we fully on. Board good for you.
- 1:22:53That's a hot start. To whatever this segment's gonna
- 1:22:55be called. Insert segment title.
- 1:23:01Come on, listeners, give us something good.
- 1:23:04Give us something that that makes sense.
- 1:23:06Think of our name. Think of us.
