- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: just to be clear you don't watch podcasts you listen to them so you can watch us on youtube but you can't watch us because you can't see us it's just a podcast you can't see us but you can see something
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it's not us, but it's not us right.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's probably a good thing.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_02]: Well, for you in my case.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_02]: You're a handsome man.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_02]: However, not like that's, yeah, I have a face for radio just like you do.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, here's the thing.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_02]: You can catch my body out of our.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to see what he looks like, you catch him in.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_02]: Can I call you dad?
- 1:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, with my son and new season coming soon.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, not in theaters.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_02]: So we can't say coming soon to theaters.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: We can just say coming soon.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you also host like San Trivia, which is a great way to blow an hour.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, no, I'm just kidding.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's a fun way to spend an hour when you're not doing anything.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_02]: I was just messing around.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: You can do what you callings and, you know, you could like, quiz each other.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, compete for who buys lunch.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: Whoever gets the answers correct.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: Something like that.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_02]: And then if you want to catch my ugly mug, you can see me new on music, rows of program that I do every single week.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_02]: You can catch the video on YouTube.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_02]: And of course you can catch all of our podcasts including some new ones that will be coming soon.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk to you all about this.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_02]: All of those be on the right network.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_02]: Mostly on like Apple and then also Spotify and in a couple areas where you can catch podcasts as well too.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: That's the gambit of the things that we do here on the rise, that work on the rise.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_02]: But speaking of on the rise, speaking on the rise, horizon, that is, the Oscars are next.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: This weekend, actually, Sunday, Sunday, Sunday, Sunday, Sunday, Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, so that's kind of what this show is about.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: We are going to talk about our favorite best supporting actors or actresses or combinations
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: But the main focus of the show is going to be the talking about who got, who got nominated for what and we're going to give our predictions or what got nominated for who right exactly.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: We also, of course, are going to talk about what's coming out this week.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: So without further ado, reminders of him.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's coming to theaters finally.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think I've seen way too many previews for this one.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've seen a few.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's about the girl who has a kid.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: something happens to her the kids father and she gets framed for the murder and so she goes to jail or something like that.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: I think she gets away with like manslaughter or something anyway she comes back because she wants to have a relationship with her kid and of course the whole town is like no you can go blank yourself.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and then the rest of it, and then of course, a love story of ultimate for, you know, whatever reason because like that makes sense.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, I'm sure there are people out there who want to see it when I first saw it, it looks really good, but after a while and the amount of times I saw the preview, I was like, can we just be done with this?
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, in much the same vein that I'm sure a lot of people were like, I don't need to see another primate preview.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: Even.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know that movies.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: But then also undertone comes out this week as well.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_02]: That movie is a little interesting.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's basically for all intents purposes about a podcaster.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: who encounters weird paranormal things.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: So like us, right, that's why I'm interested in it because it's a podcast or thing, but I'm not interested in enough to go see it, even on the cheap night.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: There's really nobody in it that makes me go, I really have to see this.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's one of those that I think I'm just gonna wait to a video as we used to say back in the day.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: And because of that, we both kind of agreed that we're not gonna review anything next week.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: No, but we are gonna review something next week.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: What is it?
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: And what is it?
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: We are going to review
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: So it should be interesting to see him.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: He hasn't hosted anything in a while, so we'll see.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if he has Andy Richter with him for this.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he's done anything in a while to me.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's still got his show.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: He's got a podcast somewhere.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I mean.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think he saw his podcast, and I think he's still there right here.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it die works wonders, but anyway, I still think he has another show, kind of like the Conan O'Brien show, but not as widely.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: That is widely.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think it might be, I remember seeing him in something where he was behind a desk and interviewing somebody fairly recently.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: So I think it might be,
- 5:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think it might be his podcast.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe that's what it is.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to look it up.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you look it up.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to get about the movie we saw.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, we saw this movie this week called The Bryan.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I will tell you this.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: I was extremely excited to see this movie until I wasn't.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, this movie's a hot mess, but I knew it was going to be a hot mess because the Jill and Halls are involved in it and everything they do seems to just be a hot mess.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: So if you take the sense of the fact that like life can be a hot mess sometimes, then this movie makes, excuse me, then this movie makes a lot of sense.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: I did like the fact that it was set in like the 20, 30's Chicago.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that was pretty cool.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_02]: I liked the way that they gave it, that twist of how they created the bride then because of that.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that was pretty cool.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: I was waiting for the electricity thing, but we didn't get it in the normal form.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: We got it in a different form.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: But a lot of people told me that it's like the worst film they've ever seen in their life.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think it's that bad.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if it was worth going to see it in the movies.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_02]: There are some great performances all around, you know, like I said, a Maggie Jellon Hall did a great job directing it with what she had to work with.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: And not just credit to any of the actress stuff at that, that the script was just kind of...
- 6:42[SPEAKER_02]: And like, I don't know, you're going to work, we're going to pull something out of your hat that everybody loves you for, but I couldn't get away from how I thought I was seeing Batman on the screen every time I saw Frankenstein.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: And by that, I mean, Christian Bale's portrayal of Batman in his three Batman movies.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: And all I could hear was, you're under creature.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_02]: And then I was like, a circle of life, a Batman circle of life.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: But, but, but, however, your comparison is in one scene.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_02]: My comparison is the entire film.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
- 7:27[SPEAKER_02]: to the other movie and but the home movie and everyone I have spoken to you tells me you are exactly wrong They all agree with me.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_02]: You know a lot of wrong people.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's fine.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_02]: So to you But the thing but the thing of it is is that there's no escaping the fact that he literally did the same voice the entire movie
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: that he used for Batman, and I couldn't get around that at all.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't have that note.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, like I said, it was enjoyable.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: The cinematography was great.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: The screenplay was a little lacking to me.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I just...
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's set it up to be way better the preview set it up to be way better than I thought it was going to be I'm going to give it a six out of ten just because it wasn't that bad It wasn't worth anything more than that to me Okay, but you know, I don't know you're probably going to have a completely different view of it And that's perfectly fine, but that's that's the way I look at it.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well a six says I'll start with my rating.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: I gave it a seven, so we're pretty close
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: uh... here's what i thought i thought uh... an atbending that did a good job as the now soup sort of played the doctor frankis dine character without being doctor frankis dine uh... christian bail i'm gonna agree with you that uh... christian bills in every movie i've seen him and it's always been good but this to me was not as best was not as best row uh... jessie buckley played crazy beautifully
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: I thought she did a brilliant job of playing.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know what?
- 8:57[SPEAKER_02]: I should go back and I'm sorry, I didn't interrupt you, but I should go back and say, she was the surprise for me for the entire film.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I think we said this last week, but I'm gonna say it again.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_02]: I always thought that that was Lady Gaga.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: You're right.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's in the role, but it's not, but there were a couple of times when I looked when I was watching the movie that I was kind of like it's lady.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no, it's not.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm you're right.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_02]: I should have mentioned that.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I do.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: I do apologize.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: She was phenomenal.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: The only thing I didn't care for was at the beginning of the movie.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: She has an English accent and then it goes away and then it comes back and then it goes away.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know if that's intentional or what the situation is there because.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, Christian Bell hasn't English accent throughout the whole movie, but she goes in and out.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: Jake, Jill and Ha, I don't know.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he was great in this at all.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: He has kind of a minor role anyway, but I don't know.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't care for that.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the surprise for me was when I saw Penelope Cruz.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: come up on the screen.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: I thought, oh, this is this is bad casting, right?
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: That was going to go into my bad cast list.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: But she surprised me.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: She did a really nice job.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: She underplayed the role really well.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: She wasn't a typical Penelope cruise role.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: I thought she did a really nice job here.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: To me, the movie was overall.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: It was it was gritty.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: It was fun sometimes.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: It was funny sometimes.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: It was hard to tell if it was a love story, a horror story, or a campy kind of a parody of a horror story.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't a typical Frankenstein.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about you and I've talked about I'm a big Frankenstein.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: I've watched pretty much every Frankenstein movie ever made.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: And this was not a typical Frankenstein movie, which to me was good because I thought that's what made it entertaining.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: Now, there were some flaws I'm not going to point him out.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: But I think it was easy, those flaws were easy to overlook because they weren't trying to be the typical Frankenstein brighter Frankenstein, even young Frankenstein kind of movie.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: They were in a whole different thing.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I kind of liked that.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was well-filmed, well-directed,
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was well lit, the lighting, where we're supposed to be super dark, it was super dark, we were supposed to be kind of spooky dark, that kind of stuff.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: Where is that ever bad lighting in a movie?
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there's bad light on a lot of movies.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like what?
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, tons of movies, that bad lighting.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: Now you can make me think of the top of my head.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: We'll play the Japanese thing while you think.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, okay, go do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do
- 11:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and then your mother goes around the corner and she licks it up name the movie name the movie Happy good more.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_02]: Nope.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know stand by me.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think I didn't I didn't remember that and with a dancing in the club was a little odd
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: That was out of nowhere, but I liked it.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't horrible.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: I liked it.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: I liked that it was odd kind of thing.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why I know where.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why I said this movie is a hot mess, because there are just things that happen that you just went, what the fuck?
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: But that's why I gave it a seven.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, like halfway through the movie, my mind was thinking of five.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: And then all this other stuff happened.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I kept focusing on Jesse buckly.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought, you know what, she's really carrying this movie.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: Two, three things.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: One, it was your right, hot mess all over the place, but I can't like that.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: To not a typical Frankenstein movie at all, which I liked.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: It never gave the vibe that it was a typical Frankenstein movie in the first place.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the trailer didn't give it that, but you would think that I kind of went into it thinking that at some point it was going to be a typical kind of Frankenstein movie.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: where, you know, the crowds with the torches and all that, but none of that happened, obviously, which was kind of cool.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't as violent as most frankincense movies either, really.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: The crowd with the torches in 1920s, Chicago.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: And it could have happened.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, we just had guys with torches, just not that long ago.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: Just because we have American Gothic, and here in the Art Institute, you know, I don't know.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: And anyway, in three, the third thing was, Jesse Buckley's performance, this is kept me from, that was one end to it, just so you know.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_02]: I said three.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: Right, well, Jesse, you mentioned Jesse Buck, like twice within the three reasons.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I said the three reasons that I gave it a seven.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the three reasons, but you're right.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: I totally agree with you.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: Hot mess all over the place.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_02]: Produce or can we go back and rewind the tape and see it and I'm just kidding.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: But you know what, what I watched this again, if I was home one night and it was on, I probably watched it again.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, okay, so that's the thing.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like a lot of these movies that I've kind of paned in the course of our recordings of this show, I have gone back and I have watched a couple of them.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_02]: Just because I want to be like, okay, so it was I really off the mark with a couple of them.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I got to say that of the ones that I have rewatched.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't rewatched for a good start as well.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_02]: And I didn't give it a bad review, but the thing of it is is that I don't know if you took a film class in college or in high school, but I did.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, so then you probably were taught this exact same thing.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_02]: is that when you watch a movie for the first time, most people watch what's going on in the middle.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_02]: And that's it.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: And that's because they're trying to pay attention to the story and all that kind of stuff.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_02]: And my, my film teacher said, that's great.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_02]: He goes, but what you need to do as a film student is you need to realize that there is another frame inside that little frame that you really need to pay attention to because that's where a lot of the stuff happens that you miss.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_02]: that will give away certain, not give away, but that will help you understand the story a little bit better.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_02]: So when I first watch a movie, yes, I focus on the action, but I'm watching the outside of the frame, which is why when somebody will go see Moos with me, they get pissed off because I'm like, did you see that?
- 15:12[SPEAKER_02]: And by the time I say that, you can't see it anymore, because it's not there.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_02]: Like, when we saw a naked gun together, that's a perfect example of why you have to watch the outside of the screen.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: Any more Brooks movie exactly exactly.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: So I mean that that's just thing so you with that to me That's what it is and that's why I go back and watch something a second time like even the pit I have gone back to watch that a second time Well you're killing me smells I'm gonna see it Monday.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think well you can binge watch the show It's like 45 minutes long to you point on that what you were just talking about when cinemas gov came out Okay
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: what people don't realize was do you want to tell people what it's going to go with white screen okay so in the early days of film films were square who's got a 4 by 3 ratio wasn't to perfectly square put was a 4 by 3 most TV's are 4 by 3 initially everything now is 16 by 9 that's called white screen cinnisco and and what what was happening is that directors were filming in 16 by 9 basically
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: But the film was being processed in 4x3.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: So the director, what the director was filming, wasn't always seen.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: Then when cinemascope came out, 60-minine, and it widened the screen, then you could see it.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: If there's a great example in film class, there was a great example of a James Dean movie.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: And it wasn't rebel without a cause.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: It was the other big one that he did, and I can't think of it.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: At any rate, the director filmed a scene where the main actors are in the middle, right?
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: Middle frame.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: And but he had it set up so that you could see James Dean walking slowly into frame.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: Well, because everything was for, right, three.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: Giant.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: Giant.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: When you saw it at the movie theater,
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: You saw James Dean, but he was already on top of the main characters at that time, but that's not what the director wanted.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: So not sometimes you'll see old movies that they put out in 16 by nine and you think the director's cut sometimes they call it.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: And you see that footage that got caught up back in the day because movie theaters couldn't
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: a 16 by 9 ratio and you can set your TV to a 4 by 3 ratio and see the difference sometimes if you want to play that game.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: Well, there you go.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: We were, I wasn't in it.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: That was okay.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: That went up the skid a little bit.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: But hey, if you listen to us, you like movies and you like media, that's a good thing that you just learned.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_02]: You're probably nerds, so there you go.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: So there you go.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_02]: So moving on, not because we're pressed for time or anything, because clearly we don't have a time limit to this show, because we've gone over all kinds of work for somebody.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: Really?
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: are our mom, I know you're listening anyway.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: So best supporting actor or actresses, just because we were kind of trying to highlight some of the big ones and our thoughts of different things.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: I will go first, I picked one from each category actually.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: Not because I'm trying to limit things, but just because they were what I looked at.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_02]: So what I did, I don't know if you did this, but I went back and I looked at the winners of best supporting actor and actresses over the course of time.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: Unlike you, I have to eliminate certain years because quite honestly, I didn't watch a lot of those movies from that time frame.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_02]: So you have a few years on me with regards to some of these situations.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like I wouldn't be surprised if you said Elizabeth Taylor is one of your picks, and there's nothing against that.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's just very interesting.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: One of the interesting things I do want to mention is that a gal who has won best actress,
- 19:09[SPEAKER_02]: Also one for best supporting actress and that's a marital street for Sophie's choice So I thought that was kind of interesting and pretty cool as well But the the actress that I chose for one of my favorites and again It's not just like because we're you know Trying to limit things or whatever.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: I mean there's a lot of us supporting actresses that I like but the one that stuck out the most to me because of the movie that I saw her in was Kathy Bates
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: in misery because at the time I was reading a ton of Stephen King and I actually read the book before the movie and there are a lot of differences between the movie and the book and I think more so because back in like 91 or 90 when misery came out there were certain things you just couldn't show on film and get away with it.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think if they went back and read it misery first of all would be a crime because I don't think it needs
- 20:05[SPEAKER_02]: they would be able to show what actually happened to his foot.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_02]: in the book versus what happened to his foot in the movie, but the two of them have a great chemistry in the movie together, James Con, if I remember correctly, he played, of course, the author that she is absolutely infatuated with, but you know, the other thing is that I started looking like somebody other stuff that she's done.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, okay, the debates is great.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: Right, she's done so many great things, the highway man.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_02]: She was in a couple episodes of the
- 20:41[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't going to bring out water boy and why, okay.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that actually bring up bad Santa too, but anyway, uh, uh, uh, a lot of boy.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_02]: Um, no, but you know, the other thing, though, there's one thing that I can't agree with on, and I'm not in any way shape or form, uh, trying to turn this into some sort of misogynistic or male shovenist pig thing.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_02]: But why is she playing matlock?
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know, I don't get that.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't get that.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_02]: And nothing against her, she's a great actress, but Matt Lock.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, I said I'd just like, like Queen Latifa playing the equalizer.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, the casting is not working.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: And again, I'm not saying anything about her as an actress.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying, I just don't see that.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: Well, here's what I don't see.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: Why did they bring it back?
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: Why did they just start air in the original mat?
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like what Andy Griffiths, who nobody's going to be better than others like.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_02]: Because, first of all, nobody remembers him.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: And second of all, okay, they're trying to the millennials.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: Don't know who he is, right?
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's goofy.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: And the second thing is, is that...
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with you, there.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_02]: The second thing is, is that because Kathy Bates has kind of... She's been around, like, and she's very vocal about things.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_02]: And according to what everyone has been saying,
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: on screen a parent's period like she's not going to do any more acting after this and that's been the rumor that's floating around so yeah again you know I mean so many different things to say about her but just a wonderful actress and you know we all have our own opinions so there we go for best supporting actor I chose Gene Hackman.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and here's the reason.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_02]: I love Tim and Superman.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I love Tim and on forgiven.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and and honestly I can't think of any he's played.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: There's only been a couple of movies that I can think of where he's actually played the lead.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: Most of the time he plays the best supporting actor and when he does I think he just knocks the roll on the park I don't think he I don't think he I don't think he overshadow Christopher Reeve in Superman But I think and and and I don't care what anybody says.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: I still to this day I think he has played the best Lex Luthor Outside of the guy from smallville
- 22:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think that guy played Lex Luth or really well too, but that was a younger life scene was a great Lex Luth.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's what I'm saying.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I just think Gene Hackman's a great actor.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think there's anything.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: But he's so versatile.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's yeah.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's he didn't know way out.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_01]: Then he did bird cage.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: Completely different roles.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wait.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: Much.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what I was going to say.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_02]: And that's the reason why I chose.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: Beautiful.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: And that's the reason why I chose both of these actors and actresses because that was good.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_02]: They haven't been pigeonholed to one particular thing.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_02]: When we talk about actors or actresses, they can play this spectrum.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think these two have done it very well.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: Except for Matlock, but that's just my opinion.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: Crick in the dead, he was great in that too.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not a big Western fan.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'll just be honest with you.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: But I have seen both of those movies.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I just like, wow, he's even good at Westerns.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I hate Westerns.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's really good.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's been in a bunch of Westerns.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so I'm going to do best supporting actors.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: I had two.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: And you're right, I am all due to the new.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_02]: So my my anybody who watches can I call your dad will know that I'm gonna do the I'm gonna do the the oh oh before we forget I don't know if he listens to the show or not But a friend of Andrews turned 40 this past weekend
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: So we have to shout out to Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou, Lou,
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think she's a really underrated actress to begin with.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: And Fence didn't get real good reviews as I recall.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I watched it and I thought, why didn't this movie get better reviews?
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's such a human movie.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: It really is.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: And she just played the role beautifully against Denzel Washington.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: So she's my modern day.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: My throwback.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know that any supporting actors, I mean, Valle Davis is on my list, but I don't think she surpasses this actress as the best supporting actress is Patty Duke.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_02]: I thought I'm a pretty new cook.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: And then I was kind of like, could top that.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the performance, first of all, she was what?
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: 15, 14, 15.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: And to play that role as vividly and as honestly, as she did at that age is remarkable, just remarkable.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I know they've remade that movie, but it's just not the same as the original.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: If you haven't seen Miracle Work of a Petty Duke, you gotta see it, it's unbelievable.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_02]: So I played Captain Keller in our high schools version of that.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_02]: So we, we were forbidden from watching the movie until after we were done because our Director was like, I don't want you taking any hands from any of these people.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_02]: So Great movie.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah great great message and of course Helen Keller turns out to be an amazing Woman of history, you know one of top 10 most amazing women in history ever Best actor that's supporting actor There's a lot
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: You said, Gene Hackman, I don't disagree with you.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that anybody has any supporting actor has, in my opinion, deserved, best actor ever than Heath Ledger as the Joker.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: Heath Ledger should have been nominated for best actor for that role.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: because no one's ever going to be able to duplicate what he did in that movie.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely no way.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: And you know me, I'm a Caesar Romero, Joker guy.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: Then, really?
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I thought Caesar Romero wasn't really good at that.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's so... And then... Of course, that's the whole idea.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: And then, Nicholson will be second, but he's got that, just took that role.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_02]: to another dimension and I would flip Caesar and Heath in my version of who played the best jokers.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: You would say Caesar was a best.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: No, Heath.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: Heath, yeah.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_02]: I said that.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_02]: No, you said Caesar would be your first.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: Caesar would be my first favorite because I heard him say.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I'm saying.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm saying.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Nicholson.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_02]: My first favorite would be.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: Well, so be second and third then.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: Heath would be first.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: Heath.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, sadly, he passed away after that, but I mean, and I have no idea where he came up with some of the stuff he did.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: It was amazing.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: He did one of the, he acted in a way that made you talk about the character and not the actor.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what it's supposed to happen after a movie.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: When you go to the water cooler, if you're talking about Tom Cruise,
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: and not the character he just played, then Tom Cruise didn't do a job.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_02]: Unless, of course, you're talking about the camera angle for Tom Cruise, and that's a different story.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they got a shoot-up, which was a little short.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: With Dustin Hoffman, did Titsi?
- 28:26[SPEAKER_01]: I was working at ABC, all the conversations.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: What came up was Titsi.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_01]: Titsi did this.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: Titsi did that.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: Can you believe when Titsi did this?
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: Not Dustin Hoffman.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what actors are supposed to do.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: They're supposed to make you forget that it's an actor.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: And you just focus on the rawds.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: What Patty Duke did in America worker.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: So those are my, okay, moving on.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: So I have 10 categories here for the Oscars.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll say the category.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: And then I'll mention the,
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: nominees, and then I already have mine bolded.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: So you pick, and then I'll tell you what I got, and then we should keep track somewhere I suppose.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_02]: I got it.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: Best picture.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: Marty Supreme, the secret agent, sentimental value, train dreams.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: So I disagree with you on one thing.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think we should go back and forth.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think you should do one, then I do one, and blah, blah, blah, blah, whatever.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_02]: OK, but I don't disagree with you with the way you're doing it, because that's exactly what I was going to say.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: So here's the, I want to add a twist to this though, because I don't, who I pick to win is not necessarily
- 30:01[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_02]: In some of these instances, like here's the thing for Best Picture, only because of the way this movie has been doing in the last couple of award shows, I think Seniors is going to win.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_02]: That's going to be my pick for Best Picture.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_02]: Who should win is the Secret Agent, okay?
- 30:19[SPEAKER_02]: So that's my take on that.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I have Seniors as well.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: to win.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if I was a betting man, this would be one of those that I would not want to bet against just because of that.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: Don't get me wrong, sinners is a great flick.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: But when it's put up against the couple of these other movies, I'm like, it wasn't that great.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: And like, I'm glad that Frank and I got nominated.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: But is it?
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's my favorite.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_01]: This would be my should win.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_02]: But is it best picture worthy?
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: I thought,
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was better than sinners, but sinners I think is going to win some pick and sinners.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_02]: So we both agree on that one for sure.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_02]: That's that.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_02]: Moving on to, do you have director next or do you have somebody else?
- 31:04[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_02]: So moving on to a best director, we have Paul Thomas Anderson for one battle after another.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_02]: Ryan Kougler for sinners Joseph Saffdill for Marty Supreme.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: uh... Joaquim Trier for sentimental value uh... and then Chloe Zhao for hamnet uh... who's going to you don't have gammel geothermal for frankinsign uh... he should be on the high do not he's on mine interesting and i know that why don't you go with your picks while we do that because i'm gonna
- 31:48[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he did a fabulous job directing, but I think that Paul Thomas Anderson, one battle after another's gonna win.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's who you think is gonna win, for 2026.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, Paul Thomas Anderson for one battle after another.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_02]: Interesting.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_02]: I disagree with you.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_02]: And I never write to be wrong.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think Ryan Kougler's gonna win for sinners only because of usually what happens with this stuff.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: is if one movie wins for a best picture usually somebody else gets the best usually somebody else gets the best director but i think it's good i don't think it's going to happen who do i think should win i'll be totally honest with you i think Chloe's out should win for him that that's what i think uh... but i think beneath he'll did a really nice job on frank i i don't disagree with you but at the same token i just don't feel like i didn't when when i saw this i was like
- 32:42[SPEAKER_02]: really like some of these will be see I don't know where you got beneath your door because I'm looking at the Oscars dot org and I've got closed out uh... just
- 32:52[SPEAKER_02]: I've got, I've got Hamlet, I've got Marty Supreme, I've got one battle after another, I've got Sentimental value and I've got sinners.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_02]: There's no, there's no nod.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_02]: If we need Benicio's O' tomorrow for a best director and this is on Oscars.org.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm not sure what you were looking at, but he's not on there.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_02]: So that's why I didn't mention him and that's probably why he's not going to win.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_02]: So there's that, but that's that's that.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_02]: So you want to take over for next for for best actor.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_02]: I will.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, wait, hold on.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I, because I was doing, what did, who did you say for a director?
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: One fight after another.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: One battle after another.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: So Paul Thomas Anderson got it.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_02]: So what do you have for best actor?
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, best actor.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: We have, um, Michael B. Jordan for sinners, Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: Wagner Moorah for the secret agent and Timothy Shalame for Marty Supreme.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I would like Michael B. Jordan to win, but I think Wagner Moorah is going to win for secret agent.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: So I think at the beginning of the year, I think a lot of people would probably have been in the same boat as I saying that Timothy Shalame was a shoe in.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_02]: for for best actor however i think unfortunately not unfortunately i think centers is going to take away in this category too i think centers is going to come out big in so many different ways that that that's kind of what i think so i think bike will be Jordyn's going to walk away with this one okay uh in the category of best actress
- 34:38[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, we have Jesse Buckley in HamNet, who we actually talked about earlier in the show.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, we've got Rose Burn in, if I had Legs, I'd kick you, I'd just love the title of that film.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: Kate Hudson and Song, Song Blue, which I have yet to see, but a lot of people who told me it's actually pretty good.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, that's the Neil Diamond movie.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, pick you mentry, Rocky Mentry.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, Renate or Renate, uh, Rence Viv.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure I butcher that.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_02]: in sentiment of value, and then Emma Stone in Bagonia.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think Jesse Buckley is going to win, and I think the bride, after watching the bride, I think that's when I said, you know what?
- 35:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think this girl's going to win it.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_02]: And I think she should win it.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_02]: So there's my take on that.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: OK, I have Emma Stone for Borgonia.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_02]: Really?
- 35:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, interesting.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: OK. And I think Renette Ryan's V is a, why actually I saw it so I'm saying blue.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: OK, I think I'm going to change that.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: My sentimental one is Kate Hudson.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: I thought she did a nice role.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: But she played really well on song so I'm glad you saw it recently.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going with that.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_01]: OK, best supporting actress.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_02]: You're going actress first, even though we did actor first for the other one.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: I hit, that's how we have it.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I'm so out of order.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_02]: That's always, of course, when not.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: I said to give you grief.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_01]: Amy Madigan for weapons.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry about that.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: Teyana Taylor, one better left or another.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: One me, most soccer centers.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_01]: L, fanning, cinnamon of value and inga.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I am picking one me Mozaku for sinners, okay?
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's who I'm picking.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: Who do you who who who is your sentimental?
- 36:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have a sentimental on this when I really don't.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_02]: I agree with you that in in sentimental category, I believe that Musaku should should win.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think Amy Madagans gonna win though.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_02]: And that's probably going to stir a lot of pots because she was in weapons and that's what she's nominated for and a lot of people are like, they're the hood flick, I just think she's going to win.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, calming weird.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: Supporting actor.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: We have the pants.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_02]: Quite often, actually.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_02]: We have Benicio del Toro in best supporting actor for one battle after another, Jacob
- 37:22[SPEAKER_02]: Who is I think he's great in that movie actually Sean Penn for one battle after another and then Stella and Scar's guard for sentimental value and my pick is gonna be Delroy Lindo But I think Bunny shall talk Bunny shall do Toro should win.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's who I won.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: I got Benicio.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_01]: Of course We read you like a telegraph of course
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: I've got to stick with my people you know I'm glad you said it because I was thinking that you have a salad today Thank you Latino Wow, I'm gonna get a bumper sticker that said If you ate a salad today, thank you Latino so if it was tossed well, I should thank you Latino All right, anyway, okay best original screen play Do you have that?
- 38:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, okay not in the right order, but you know, that's fine.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's right sinners
- 38:18[SPEAKER_02]: one battle after the other and Marty Supreme and I'm going with the way best original screenplay you only have three that's all it came up I got what about blue moon what about it was just an accident you missed two of them oh I'm sorry I did that well I'm picking Marty Supreme anyway I think Marty Supreme is going to get best original
- 38:51[SPEAKER_02]: Alright, so now that I now that I'm not sure what order you have next, I'm not sure which way to go.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_02]: So do you have adaptive screenplay next on your list?
- 39:06[SPEAKER_02]: Because in my list, I had castings before.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: No, my, my next list is best cast and do you know?
- 39:14[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, well it makes more sense to do a best at that screen place and so we're already talking about screen play.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so that just makes more sense to me.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, just because it's the way my brain works.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_02]: So, okay, we've got Bogonia written by World Tracy.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_02]: We've got Frankenstein written for the screen by Guillermo de Toro.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_02]: Hamlet by Chloe Zau and Maggie Ofero.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_02]: One battle after another by Paul Thomas Anderson and then train dreams by Clint Batley and Greg Kadauer.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to go with the movie that we kind of lambasted and that's one battle after another.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_01]: I am too.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want it to when I'd rather have Benicio when, of course you do because we've already we've already we've already discussed how bias but I think one battle after another is going to win it.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I think.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I haven't seen Hamlet yet.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's keeps coming up on I know you've got a peacock.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: I've got to watch it.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: I have best costume next.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_01]: You have best costume?
- 40:18[SPEAKER_01]: No, but I do know.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: Frankenstein.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: Centers.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_01]: Avatar.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: Hamlet.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_01]: Marty Supreme, those are the ones I have.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I think Avatar is gonna win it.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_01]: Go on with Avatar.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_01]: Mostly because it's really close to Anavar.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm picking my cousin, okay, Avatar.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_02]: All right, I'm gonna pick a Frankenstein.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, good.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_01]: Nah, aren't you surprised that I did not pick beneath you?
- 41:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's a movie.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_01]: OK. Fine.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right, best song.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_01]: We should have, you got best song?
- 41:19[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_02]: No, not in the order that you have all this stuff.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_02]: So we clearly, too more.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we clearly needed to have a conversation.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_02]: So is your two-mark including casting?
- 41:32[SPEAKER_02]: Because that's the new one for this year.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's the new year for this year.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_02]: We should have included that in the world.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's the new one.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know why that's a category.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think you might want to stick to it.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_01]: I heard our podcast about worse and best casting.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: Either we should make this a category.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_02]: Either that or I think you need to stop looking at the resources you're lurking because I don't think deadline is a good place to go to get your information.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't go to deadline.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's just what I'm saying.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_02]: So sound had to scroll down.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_02]: Quite a bit for this one.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_02]: That's what you said.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_02]: Sounds long.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, song.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_02]: Excuse me.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_02]: Excuse me while I scroll down even further.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_02]: Best original score or just original song.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_02]: So now I'm curious because I'm not, I don't get to see your list.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_02]: So does that include a dear me from Diane Warren for restless?
- 42:16[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_02]: Golden from Kpop demon hunters.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_02]: I lied to you from sinners.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_02]: Sweet dreams of joy from the verbal, correct?
- 42:26[SPEAKER_02]: Or Viva Verdi, sorry.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_02]: And then train dreams from to go train dreams, correct?
- 42:31[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_02]: So that there's the list.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_02]: And so my pick is Golden from K-pop team and honors.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: I too.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't have a sentimental fair.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_01]: I love that song that they get to great song.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_02]: I just think it's going to win for popularity purposes.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: I want to know which one I made from that thing plain.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_01]: And every break they're in the Olympics, right?
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so clearly we're not on the same list, so I'm not sure what you have next.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: So I have cinematography.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_02]: Cinematography, okay.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_02]: I would agree that that's one of the big ones we should cover.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: So I only have three again for some reason.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: You have more than three?
- 43:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I believe there's more than three, but hold on because I've got to scroll.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_01]: So I have five.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, why have sinners?
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: One battle after another in Frankenstein?
- 43:14[SPEAKER_01]: You're missing Marty Supreme and trained dreams.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I don't need those because I'm picking Frankenstein.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_02]: Really?
- 43:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going one battle after another.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you're wrong and that one.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, you're wrong on Frankenstein So now where you've been best documentary That's not one that I had on the list either so hold on.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_02]: That was on the original list I sent you Yeah, well
- 43:37[SPEAKER_02]: again.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, deadline is not a place to go to get your information.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_02]: So you're going to have to work with me here while I scroll through other things because like we missed animated feature.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would just wanted the top 10.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_02]: But animated features consider one of the top 10s and we missed the best things.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_02]: Well, but
- 43:57[SPEAKER_02]: When you look at the show, you've got to go in the order of what they do, and those are the ones that consider the best ones.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_02]: So animated, and you even mentioned animated feature of one of the show.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_02]: And then you pull the way from it, look at this guy.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: You're so easily able to never really see anything.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so let's go with your list, what's next?
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: Because I clearly, documentary.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh God, documentary.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's the one that, that's the one that they do in the beginning of the show.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_02]: Right, right because nobody pays attention to that one.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's the one we pay attention to.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_02]: So documentary features, is that what you have?
- 44:30[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, go ahead with your list.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: The Alabama solution.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: Apocalypse in the tropics.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have more on your list?
- 44:41[SPEAKER_01]: Come see me in good light.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_02]: What was the other one you had?
- 44:46[SPEAKER_02]: Apocalypse in the tropics.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_02]: That's not even in here.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_02]: I've got Alabama solution come see me in good light, cutting through rocks, Mr. Nobody against Putin, and the perfect neighbor for documentary feature.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I can barely hit three again.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's why the audience here, I thought I had this downpad.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_02]: Deadlines?
- 45:07[SPEAKER_02]: Deadlines?
- 45:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's not the place to go to get your information.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_02]: Try variety next time.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_02]: A well-known publication.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_02]: You're working in media.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I was going to go with the Alabama solution, but because you mentioned the Mr. Nobody Against Putin, I'm going with that one.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_02]: I agree with you that Mr. Nobody Against Putin, but I think comes to me in a good light should win.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_02]: And that's it.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_02]: That's all I have.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_02]: What was the one you had before documentary
- 45:37[SPEAKER_02]: We did that one.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: Was that costume?
- 45:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, cinematography.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, cinematography?
- 45:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I thought we did that one.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I picked Frank and Stein for that.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, I'm sorry.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think we have 11 now because you threw one out there that I didn't have.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_01]: Which is fine.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I think we, I think we need to do casting anyways just because it's the brand new one.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_02]: Fine.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people are going to be like, I would have chosen visual effects over some of the one ones you've got.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, that's okay.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_02]: Well, whatever.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see what happens on the night off.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_02]: And then when I win, you can buy me dinner.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: So, best casting.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_02]: Here we go.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_02]: We've got HamNet.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_02]: HamNet.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_02]: Marty Supreme.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_02]: One battle after another.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_02]: These are all kind of no brainers.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_02]: The secret agent.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_02]: And then sinners.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_01]: Well, sinners cheated because it cast one guy for two roles.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not taking that one.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go with Hamlet.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_02]: OK, I'm picking sinners for both know they cheated and only.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care, in cast one.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, actually, if you've ever been an actor, you do know how hard it is to play two different characters at the same time.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_02]: In a show.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: I do know I'm so there you go.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_01]: Matter of fact, I'm a husband a brother a uncle.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, here we go.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: A dad.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_01]: A friend.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody should have said anything to this man.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: I have played all of those roles in my lifetime.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'm talking about on the screen.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no, no, you have never played any of those.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_01]: I've played a camera.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: I play tender heart you're admitting that to the world and I played stranger danger while he just put that out there folks okay I played stranger that I wasn't stranger danger I played it all right well that's good this is fun we're gonna see who's got all the right answers next week's show so make sure you tune in tell your friends

- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: and we go at each other and we can do it because we're great friends.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's why that's why we do it.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think speak for yourself.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_02]: No, you're absolutely right.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's just we have a lot of things and I think that's.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: That's what allows us to do what we do.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I appreciate you and I appreciate you being on the other side of the mic.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_02]: And I appreciate all of your wacky opinions and everything else.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_02]: So with that folks, we will see you for the next show, which will be next week, where we kind of go over, we'll call it the actors or the Oscar review show.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_02]: Let's give a review show and we'll talk about that.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_02]: And then of course obviously we'll talk about the movies that are coming out next weekend.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe we'll talk about where we're going to go with things after that.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe finally we'll get to that worst casting show.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_02]: or maybe we'll get to storylines or some of the other things we've we still haven't talked about animation okay there's all kinds of things Westerns we haven't talked about those all Westerns so so we'll we'll we'll figure it all out just along the same lines as you do but the only way to do that is to say locked in here on the rise that work again catches on Spotify Apple and now even on YouTube and until next time save us some popcorn
