Latest / The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show / Hour 1 - Buck Experiences the Future
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome, everybody.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Wednesday, Clay and Buck kicks off right now. Oh, man,
- 0:06Speaker 2: we have less than a week. Less than a week,
- 0:08Speaker 2: my friends, until election night. There's going to be some very,
- 0:13Speaker 2: very tight races. Some people are saying it's going to
- 0:16Speaker 2: be beautiful. There also might be some disappointing results for
- 0:19Speaker 2: some races.
- 0:20Speaker 3: We'll see. I'm optimistic. Clay is optimistic.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Although, who would have thought that as the country is
- 0:27Speaker 2: seeking victory, to figure out what its political leadership will
- 0:33Speaker 2: look like for the next couple of years, at least,
- 0:36Speaker 2: Clay Travis would start an absolute firestorm online with his
- 0:40Speaker 2: Cheesecake Factory analysis.
- 0:44Speaker 3: We're dead, by the way. Forget it. I think, you
- 0:46Speaker 3: know what?
- 0:47Speaker 2: If I lose our Kamala bet, I don't think I'm
- 0:49Speaker 2: taking you to the gold case fancy steak place. I
- 0:52Speaker 2: think we're getting whatever steaks they've got on the menu
- 0:54Speaker 2: at the Cheesecake Factory because you have started a.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Left-wing echo chamber.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Ecosystem is obsessed with my Cheesecake Factory takes and the
- 1:05Speaker 4: fact that I have correctly said that it is a
- 1:08Speaker 4: high-end establishment. I got to tell you, Buck, we got
- 1:12Speaker 4: some good news out there on Republican early voting. Now,
- 1:17Speaker 4: I don't want us to take complete credit for this,
- 1:20Speaker 4: that us and by us, I mean mostly me, shaming
- 1:24Speaker 4: everyone with the fact that you and I are better
- 1:27Speaker 4: Americans than them because we have already cast our ballots.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Has actually led to a.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Surge in early voting among Republicans, and there's actually a
- 1:39Speaker 4: lot of good data out there. I'm not a poll guy,
- 1:42Speaker 4: meaning at this point I don't think it makes sense
- 1:44Speaker 4: to pay attention to polls because we're approaching 40 million
- 1:48Speaker 4: actual ballots, and in those 40 million actual ballots, there
- 1:53Speaker 4: is virtually no difference at all between... What happened in
- 2:00Speaker 4: 2022 and what happened in 2026 with the early vote?
- 2:04Speaker 4: Very good signs, cautious optimism out there that the so-called
- 2:08Speaker 4: blue wave has not materialized in any way yet.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Well, we haven't hit Election Day, but we love optimistic
- 2:15Speaker 2: takes and we'll certainly be sharing those with you. I
- 2:19Speaker 2: want to tell you, we've got a stacked. You're like,
- 2:22Speaker 2: who are you guys going to talk to today on
- 2:23Speaker 2: the show? We have Mike Rogers, as in in maybe
- 2:27Speaker 2: the most pivotal and brass knuckle brawl Senate contest out there.
- 2:34Speaker 2: He is going to talk to us about how he's
- 2:35Speaker 2: going to beat El Sayed. I'm sure he's going to
- 2:37Speaker 2: talk to us about the latest from the campaign trail.
- 2:40Speaker 2: But this Michigan Senate race is critical. Mike Rogers joining
- 2:44Speaker 2: us here on the program. Maybe because we have a
- 2:46Speaker 2: huge audience in Michigan. I mean, you know, who am
- 2:48Speaker 2: I to shy away from trying to help get the
- 2:52Speaker 2: word out there? So Mike Rogers is with us. By
- 2:55Speaker 2: the way, Ali, invite Al-Sayed on. Let's see if Al-Sayed
- 2:57Speaker 2: wants to come on. We probably have already invited him,
- 2:59Speaker 2: but we can remind him that he is welcome to
- 3:01Speaker 2: come on here and explain his fondness for the Muslim
- 3:04Speaker 2: Brotherhood and or why he thinks that America should go
- 3:07Speaker 2: full socialist. We'll discuss this. We can also tell you
- 3:11Speaker 2: that John Huston, U.S. Senator from Ohio will be with us.
- 3:15Speaker 2: He is in a unfortunately closer than it should be.
- 3:19Speaker 2: But I still think I'm hopeful that Houston can pull
- 3:21Speaker 2: this out.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I really am. And he's going to tell us why
- 3:24Speaker 3: we have, again, a lot of you in Ohio listening.
- 3:26Speaker 3: So that's cool.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Steve Hilton, uphill battle in California. But he's a great man,
- 3:31Speaker 2: the Steve Hilton. And we are very much looking forward
- 3:34Speaker 2: to talking to him about where that stands, at least
- 3:37Speaker 2: in the governor's race in California. And then just to summarize.
- 3:41Speaker 2: even spice things up further. We rarely have four guests
- 3:43Speaker 2: on the program.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Very, very rarely.
- 3:45Speaker 2: But we just had so many people that wanted to
- 3:47Speaker 2: call in before the election. We have to take senators
- 3:50Speaker 2: who are in critical races.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Right.
- 3:52Speaker 2: But Andy, no, you all know him from the guy
- 3:54Speaker 2: who's done more than probably anybody else in America to
- 3:57Speaker 2: show the truth of Antifa. He has a new book
- 4:00Speaker 2: out about a trans death cult. And this has to be.
- 4:05Speaker 2: taken very, very seriously because we've seen what happens as
- 4:09Speaker 2: a result of some of this trans death cult ideology. So, Clay,
- 4:11Speaker 2: that's just an overview of where the guests are on this. Also,
- 4:15Speaker 2: by the way, I bought a Tesla Model Y yesterday.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I'll share with you guys my thoughts on that later.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Short version is this car is amazing. And I think
- 4:24Speaker 2: a lot of you who don't have kids yet, who
- 4:25Speaker 2: are maybe going to have kids, I'm not sure your
- 4:27Speaker 2: kids will even learn to drive.
- 4:29Speaker 1: That's what I really thought. You're just jumping.
- 4:30Speaker 4: This is where you are now completely on board, basically,
- 4:35Speaker 4: with everything. This may be the most simpatico we have
- 4:39Speaker 4: ever been on anything. You co-signed basically everything that I
- 4:43Speaker 4: told you before you had tried the Tesla, if not
- 4:46Speaker 4: even more enthusiastic than even I was in my endorsement.
- 4:52Speaker 2: The only thing that you and I might fight over
- 4:54Speaker 2: on this issue is who loves it more.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Who is like.
- 4:57Speaker 3: The captain of the fan club? And you're like, don't fanboy.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Guys, you got to try one of these things. I'm
- 5:03Speaker 2: not saying it has to be your only car. If
- 5:05Speaker 2: you can afford a second car, which I know is
- 5:07Speaker 2: expensive and a big deal, but for some of you,
- 5:09Speaker 2: especially you've got a husband and wife, you're both working,
- 5:12Speaker 2: as a second car option to me, if you have
- 5:14Speaker 2: two cars, you can go trade it in, by the way.
- 5:16Speaker 2: You can trade in your car, and that goes toward it.
- 5:18Speaker 4: And by the way, your car is around $ 50, 000, and
- 5:22Speaker 4: they have like 1% interest that you can pay off
- 5:25Speaker 4: for eight years. We don't get paid by Tesla. I
- 5:27Speaker 4: just think it's one of the most remarkable American engineering
- 5:30Speaker 4: feats of all time. Trust me, if you get in,
- 5:33Speaker 4: you're going to be blown away. You're going to feel
- 5:35Speaker 4: like you're in the future.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I bought my Tesla sitting on my couch from the app,
- 5:42Speaker 2: picked exactly what I wanted, showed up at the pickup place,
- 5:47Speaker 2: and just had to do a little paperwork.
- 5:49Speaker 3: I was out of there in under an hour, the
- 5:51Speaker 3: whole thing.
- 5:52Speaker 1: It's amazing.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Under an hour.
- 5:53Speaker 4: For anybody who has bought a car, how often do
- 5:55Speaker 4: you spend the whole day sitting there, signing papers, going
- 5:59Speaker 4: through the process of what is required to take on
- 6:02Speaker 4: a car? I mean, it is infuriating for purchasing a
- 6:05Speaker 4: car how much time it takes.
- 6:06Speaker 2: The first used car I ever bought, actually, the first
- 6:09Speaker 2: used car experience I ever had was at a.
- 6:14Speaker 2: At a New Jersey, oh yeah, used car lot with
- 6:18Speaker 2: a guy who had multiple, he was Eastern European, I
- 6:22Speaker 2: don't know where exactly, multiple gold chains and an undershirt
- 6:26Speaker 2: under his dress shirt that like really, he was the
- 6:31Speaker 2: whole package, everybody, the used car guy from New Jersey.
- 6:35Speaker 2: And I did not get the better end of that deal.
- 6:37Speaker 2: My point being that everything about this Tesla situation is smooth.
- 6:40Speaker 3: It is efficient.
- 6:41Speaker 1: It is easy.
- 6:42Speaker 3: It's like being in a spaceship.
- 6:45Speaker 2: We're not doing an advertorial here or a content or
- 6:48Speaker 2: a commercial for Tesla.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Although they should.
- 6:50Speaker 3: They should.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Elon actually retweeted my video, which is out on our
- 6:54Speaker 2: social media. He retweeted the video of me driving home
- 6:57Speaker 2: in it. And it was just in earnest. I was like,
- 6:58Speaker 2: this car is incredible.
- 6:59Speaker 3: This is amazing.
- 7:00Speaker 2: So I will come back to that maybe a little
- 7:04Speaker 2: later on. We can talk about it. You can make
- 7:05Speaker 2: fun of my man. I don't even care. Clay, I
- 7:08Speaker 2: will turn in my man card if I get to
- 7:10Speaker 2: keep my Tesla. I think I'd rather have the Tesla.
- 7:13Speaker 4: I was thinking about this when you were waxing eloquent
- 7:16Speaker 4: on the new car. You now have me, you, and
- 7:21Speaker 4: Sean Hannity.
- 7:22Speaker 6: Boom, boom, boom.
- 7:23Speaker 4: I don't know if Jesse Kelly would fit in one,
- 7:26Speaker 4: and I'm not sure what Glenn Beck drives, but we
- 7:29Speaker 4: almost have the entire lineup of radio guys that you
- 7:33Speaker 4: listen to on many of these stations nationwide all in
- 7:38Speaker 4: on the Tesla.
- 7:40Speaker 3: I would be.
- 7:41Speaker 2: personally shocked if glenn beck did not have a tesla
- 7:44Speaker 2: in his in his stable of how many cars does
- 7:47Speaker 2: glenn have about 20 i don't know he's not like
- 7:49Speaker 2: a jay leno guy but he's got more than one
- 7:51Speaker 2: car he's got more he's got you know houses in
- 7:53Speaker 2: a few different places um jesse kelly one of the
- 7:56Speaker 2: coolest pop culture collections in private hands anywhere in america
- 8:00Speaker 2: i mean the stuff that he has in the history
- 8:02Speaker 2: yeah the historical stuff that glenn has is amazing he's
- 8:04Speaker 2: got his own museum But maybe we can troll Glenn
- 8:08Speaker 2: a little bit and see if he'll join the Tesla
- 8:09Speaker 2: mafia with the rest of his radio hosts if he
- 8:12Speaker 2: has not already. So anyway, guys, I know you want
- 8:14Speaker 2: to talk politics. We're going to get right into it. Trump,
- 8:19Speaker 2: clearly the Obama cheesecake thing has struck a nerve, as
- 8:23Speaker 2: Clay has found out. Trump opening up in Corinth, Mississippi yesterday.
- 8:29Speaker 2: This is what he had to say about that. This
- 8:31Speaker 2: is cut one.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Hit it. Oh, I'm sorry.
- 8:35Speaker 2: That was yesterday's sheet. That's still a very important comment
- 8:38Speaker 2: that he made about the Cheesecake Factory. Clay, tell me
- 8:41Speaker 2: in the meantime, why is it that you... Yeah, he
- 8:44Speaker 2: was in Texas, by the way. That's why I was like,
- 8:46Speaker 2: wait a second. He was in Mississippi yesterday. What is
- 8:48Speaker 2: the heat about on this one? Because you're Team Cheesecake Factory,
- 8:53Speaker 2: so why are people getting mad at you?
- 8:55Speaker 4: People are saying that I didn't go to the Cheesecake
- 8:58Speaker 4: Factory at a young enough age to say that growing
- 9:02Speaker 4: up going to Cheesecake Factory was a high-end dining trip.
- 9:08Speaker 4: And I just think that's a little bit crazy. I
- 9:12Speaker 4: don't know about you, Buck, but for me, and let
- 9:15Speaker 4: me just say this as a general rule. If you
- 9:19Speaker 4: are a parent or a grandparent, And you are in
- 9:22Speaker 4: a position where you are more financially secure than your kids.
- 9:27Speaker 4: I think a lot of us, when we would go
- 9:29Speaker 4: out to dinner, it's a nice thing when your parents
- 9:33Speaker 4: or your in-laws can pick up a dinner. Even when
- 9:36Speaker 4: you're young in your 20s, even when you're young in
- 9:40Speaker 4: your 30s, it is a big deal, I think, and
- 9:44Speaker 4: a great thing when the in-laws or the parents say, hey,
- 9:47Speaker 4: let's go out for a meal and I will pick
- 9:49Speaker 4: it up. I have told my kids that I'm probably
- 9:51Speaker 4: paying for every meal that we have for the rest
- 9:55Speaker 4: of my life. My dad still tries to give me
- 9:58Speaker 4: occasionally a $ 20. bill when I go by the house
- 10:02Speaker 4: like this is a parent thing. So they are fired
- 10:05Speaker 4: up because and I'll admit this I didn't know exactly
- 10:08Speaker 4: what year the Cheesecake Factory first came to Tennessee. We
- 10:13Speaker 4: had it in Washington D.C. when I was in college there.
- 10:16Speaker 4: It was in Atlanta and When, you know, if you
- 10:19Speaker 4: were growing up in Nashville and you went to a
- 10:21Speaker 4: pro sports game, you would go down to Atlanta. So
- 10:25Speaker 4: they are like coming after me over at what age
- 10:29Speaker 4: did you first eat at the Cheesecake Factory, Clay? And
- 10:33Speaker 4: I'm like, I don't know exactly, but this is how
- 10:35Speaker 4: rattled I think they have gotten. They have tried to
- 10:39Speaker 4: turn the conversation from Obama being out of touch to
- 10:44Speaker 4: and mocking people who like to go to the Cheesecake Factory,
- 10:47Speaker 4: which is a high-end dining opportunity. I've taken the opportunity, Buck,
- 10:53Speaker 4: to just dive in and analyze basically every chain restaurant
- 10:57Speaker 4: because I think I've eaten at all of them over
- 10:58Speaker 4: the years.
- 10:59Speaker 3: But it's really got them kind of rattled.
- 11:01Speaker 2: This has turned into now a data war online over
- 11:04Speaker 2: these things, and I will tell you that They're looking
- 11:08Speaker 2: at the which chains are in the most valuable neighborhood.
- 11:12Speaker 2: So they're using essentially this. And it's a really interesting
- 11:15Speaker 2: data point.
- 11:16Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Proximity to the different places as a essentially this is
- 11:23Speaker 2: what like the wealthiest wealthy areas have the following and
- 11:26Speaker 2: less wealthy areas have the following in them. Um, uh,
- 11:29Speaker 2: if you have Pilates, Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, I always,
- 11:33Speaker 2: I think of all those as liberal as kind of left, uh,
- 11:36Speaker 2: left coded brands. Those are the top of the wealthy
- 11:40Speaker 2: neighborhood index, if you will. Uh, if you go down
- 11:43Speaker 2: a little bit, by the way, the cheesecake factory is
- 11:46Speaker 2: pretty solidly in, uh, you know, High, high end territory.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Cheesecake Factory is you.
- 11:54Speaker 4: You are again with people because it is super cool
- 11:58Speaker 4: and it makes sense where like based on where the
- 12:02Speaker 4: restaurants are is a proxy for how expensive it is
- 12:06Speaker 4: to live in the neighborhoods basically is a simple way.
- 12:08Speaker 3: That's what the data is showing.
- 12:10Speaker 2: And if you have a Whole Foods, you're basically close
- 12:13Speaker 2: to 50% more expensive than areas in your region with
- 12:19Speaker 2: the same population density. So essentially, other parts of your
- 12:23Speaker 2: suburb or other parts of your city, you're up 50%
- 12:25Speaker 2: if you're near a Whole Foods. Cheesecake Factory is almost 30%
- 12:29Speaker 2: in the plus column, meaning you're at the higher end.
- 12:32Speaker 3: And then you get– and by the way, I love this.
- 12:34Speaker 2: The ones that are in the middle, as in this
- 12:36Speaker 2: is kind of people just like it and it doesn't–
- 12:39Speaker 2: it's neither low-income or high-income coded are Dunkin' Donuts, Best Buy, Starbucks,
- 12:47Speaker 2: and actually In-N-Out. So those are all– if you've got
- 12:51Speaker 2: a Best Buy, you're in America. It doesn't mean that you're–
- 12:54Speaker 2: it's not for a rich area. It's not for a
- 12:56Speaker 2: lower-income area. And then the ones that are coded for
- 12:59Speaker 2: lower-income areas are at the very bottom of the list. AutoZone,
- 13:03Speaker 2: Little Caesars, Dollar General, getting roughed up with this data. Yeah,
- 13:07Speaker 2: that doesn't surprise me at all. I mean, again, if
- 13:10Speaker 2: you're out and about and you see Dollar General store,
- 13:14Speaker 2: you think, okay, this is probably a little bit of
- 13:16Speaker 2: a lower income area. And Little Caesars, my wife loves
- 13:21Speaker 2: Little Caesars, but it is one of the most affordable
- 13:24Speaker 2: of all the pizza places out there. And yeah, it
- 13:27Speaker 2: just kind of squares with what I was saying, which
- 13:30Speaker 2: is for most people, A Cheesecake Factory is high end. Again,
- 13:35Speaker 2: it sounds like a small thing, but the fact that
- 13:37Speaker 2: they are fighting so aggressively over it is I think
- 13:41Speaker 2: we have hit them with you're.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Out of touch. Obama has lost his fastball.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Back in the day, I even tweeted this at the
- 13:49Speaker 4: Obama bros, the speechwriters. I don't think Obama would have
- 13:52Speaker 4: made this joke in 2008 or 2012. When do you
- 13:56Speaker 4: think the last time that Obama went in a chain
- 13:58Speaker 4: restaurant was, Buck? Has he been in a chain restaurant?
- 14:01Speaker 4: Has he been in a non-wealthy neighborhood?
- 14:04Speaker 2: Not as a campaign stop for somebody else, because I'm
- 14:07Speaker 2: sure he shows up to Burger King and is like, oh.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 14:11Speaker 4: He's very good at those kind of places like Trump is.
- 14:14Speaker 4: I can't remember the last time he was in a, quote, unquote, normal,
- 14:17Speaker 4: non arena like setting where it was unscripted and he was.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Just hanging out.
- 14:23Speaker 2: I think Obama is the king of code switching in
- 14:25Speaker 2: a lot of ways. I think he can do the
- 14:27Speaker 2: fancy thing and he can be the everyman thing. It
- 14:29Speaker 2: depends on the audience he's in front of. But, you know,
- 14:34Speaker 2: not the king of it. I mean, Trump is every
- 14:35Speaker 2: bit as good. But I think Obama's got that ability. Look,
- 14:38Speaker 2: we'll get back into this. And also, now that I
- 14:41Speaker 2: have today's soundbites from Texas in front of me. Sorry
- 14:44Speaker 2: about that, guys. We'll get into what Trump was saying
- 14:46Speaker 2: about that. Because Ken Paxton is very much in this race.
- 14:52Speaker 2: And it's going to come down to the I think
- 14:54Speaker 2: he's going to win. But all of you Texans need
- 14:56Speaker 2: to show up and we'll talk about the latest in
- 14:57Speaker 2: the Paxton-Talarico showdown. I think that one, Clay, if we lost,
- 15:03Speaker 2: would hurt the most. I know every Senate seat is
- 15:05Speaker 2: a Senate seat, but if we lose Texas, that would
- 15:08Speaker 2: hurt the most. So we got to have this be
- 15:10Speaker 2: Fortress Texas.
- 15:10Speaker 1: You're right.
- 15:11Speaker 4: And it's not just about losing Texas. It's that Talarico
- 15:14Speaker 4: is an objectively awful candidate. And so if we lose
- 15:18Speaker 4: that one, I think it's where we sit back and say,
- 15:21Speaker 4: my goodness, what in the world happened? All right, speaking
- 15:24Speaker 4: of what in the world happened, did not have a
- 15:26Speaker 4: good week of picks with the overall hard rock bet
- 15:31Speaker 4: picks in the NFL. College were doing better. I've got
- 15:34Speaker 4: a pick tonight for you. MTSU is going to win tonight.
- 15:40Speaker 4: They are a one and a half point favorite. And
- 15:43Speaker 4: they are, it's a Wednesday night game. I understand a
- 15:47Speaker 4: lot of you are going to say, Clay, what in
- 15:48Speaker 4: the world are you doing with the Wednesday night football game?
- 15:52Speaker 4: but we're ready for Wednesday night football and MTSU, which
- 15:57Speaker 4: is Middle Tennessee State University. If you are out there
- 16:00Speaker 4: right now, they are playing Kennesaw State. MTSU is a
- 16:03Speaker 4: one and a half point favorite. I'm on MTSU tonight.
- 16:07Speaker 4: I don't know how many other people are going to
- 16:08Speaker 4: be betting on Wednesday night football. But if you are

- 17:42Speaker 3: Welcome back in, Clay and Buck.
- 17:43Speaker 4: We're going to come back and play Trump at Texas,
- 17:47Speaker 4: saying that he would potentially be putting Ted Cruz on
- 17:50Speaker 4: the Supreme Court. A lot of different moving parts associated
- 17:54Speaker 4: with that story, but what it really goes to is
- 17:57Speaker 4: Maybe the biggest thing at stake in this midterm is
- 18:01Speaker 4: control of the Senate in the event that there are
- 18:03Speaker 4: openings for the Supreme Court and what that could mean,
- 18:07Speaker 4: we will discuss. In the meantime, one easy way to
- 18:09Speaker 4: improve your sleep, Cozy Earth Sheets. By my account, world's
- 18:13Speaker 4: most comfortable sheets.

- 18:49Speaker 4: let them know you heard about it at Clay & Buck.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Welcome back in to Clay & Buck in New York.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Both excited to dive in here.
- 18:56Speaker 4: We were talking, Buck, about the Texas rally that President Trump,
- 19:02Speaker 4: multiple Texas rallies that President Trump had yesterday. I talked
- 19:06Speaker 4: to people who are pretty in the know in Texas yesterday,
- 19:11Speaker 4: and I want everybody in Texas to continue to vote.
- 19:15Speaker 4: So what I am telling you, I do not want
- 19:17Speaker 4: to change anyone's voting behavior. Just FYI, as we sit
- 19:21Speaker 4: here six days out. that Democrats increasingly, it appears, have
- 19:27Speaker 4: punched themselves out in their voting for James Tallarico. And
- 19:33Speaker 4: as each day of early voting is continuing, Republicans are
- 19:38Speaker 4: showing up in really big numbers, and there is starting
- 19:42Speaker 4: to be increasing pessimism in the Democrat camp. They won't
- 19:47Speaker 4: say it publicly, but the Tallarico tide has reached, I think,
- 19:53Speaker 4: its crest.
- 19:54Speaker 1: And there is a lot of momentum.
- 19:57Speaker 4: Many people have woken up in the state of Texas
- 20:00Speaker 4: and are showing up every day right now. I want
- 20:04Speaker 4: everybody listening in Texas, get out, make sure you have voted,
- 20:06Speaker 4: make sure your friends and family have voted. but that
- 20:09Speaker 4: there is a lot of optimism in the Paxton camp
- 20:12Speaker 4: based on the numbers that they are seeing and where
- 20:15Speaker 4: the votes are coming in.
- 20:16Speaker 2: I just would tell you guys, we haven't lost faith
- 20:20Speaker 2: one day in Texas. No matter how bleak the polls looked,
- 20:24Speaker 2: never lost any faith in Texas to come through. So
- 20:27Speaker 2: don't break that faith.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Show up. Get it done.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Make sure we deliver that Senate seat for Ken Paxton.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Something else Texas-related that came up, Clay, yesterday was, As
- 20:37Speaker 2: Trump was in the great state of the Lone Star State.
- 20:43Speaker 2: There's a great historian, by the way, who wrote a
- 20:46Speaker 2: number of books, including Lone Star, A History of Texas
- 20:49Speaker 2: and the Texans.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Ferenbach.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Do you know this guy, Clay? It's from a while ago.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Great historian and writes a whole book. He got me
- 20:56Speaker 2: into his book on the Comanche.
- 20:58Speaker 4: You've talked about the Comanche before. I didn't know what
- 21:01Speaker 4: the name of the author was. Yeah, this is as
- 21:04Speaker 4: I'm doing the show.
- 21:04Speaker 2: I have one of my I have my bookshelf in
- 21:06Speaker 2: front of me that has a whole.
- 21:07Speaker 3: I do have it. I'm a little nerdy.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I have it sort of organized by subject matter, not
- 21:11Speaker 2: obviously by alphabetical. And so I'm looking at Indian Wars
- 21:15Speaker 2: of Texas, Lone Star, Empire of the Summer Moon, all
- 21:18Speaker 2: these different books. But back to Texas. This was really
- 21:22Speaker 2: interesting because we've talked about this long ago on the show.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Here's what the president said. This is cut to about
- 21:29Speaker 2: the Supreme Court and a certain Texan.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Hit it.
- 21:31Speaker 5: Ted is a brilliant guy. Brilliant lawyer. Brilliant. All that
- 21:34Speaker 5: went to law school.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Top student.
- 21:36Speaker 5: Everything possible to get it past the Democrats or the
- 21:40Speaker 5: Republicans together. I would pick Ted Cruz to be the
- 21:43Speaker 5: next Supreme Court justice.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I wouldn't have to worry. I wouldn't even have to
- 21:55Speaker 1: make a phone call.
- 21:56Speaker 5: The Democrats will 100 percent vote for it because they
- 22:01Speaker 5: hate the guy and they want to get rid of him.
- 22:03Speaker 5: And the Republicans would 100 percent vote for it because
- 22:08Speaker 5: they can't stand him.
- 22:09Speaker 1: They would like to get rid of him.
- 22:11Speaker 5: So I'd get 100 percent of the vote and he
- 22:14Speaker 5: would be a Supreme Court justice and he'd do a
- 22:16Speaker 5: great job.
- 22:18Speaker 2: It's such a Trump thing on the one hand. I
- 22:22Speaker 2: think it's a brilliant move, Clay. We've talked about this.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Very funny, though, at the end that he's saying that,
- 22:28Speaker 2: of course, the Democrats hate him. But I think that
- 22:30Speaker 2: I think you might even get some Democrat votes for
- 22:32Speaker 2: him on the Supreme Court, maybe one or two. I
- 22:34Speaker 2: think it's possible he called in a favor. But put
- 22:36Speaker 2: that aside. Ted Cruz in the Supreme Court would be fantastic.
- 22:40Speaker 4: He would be an amazing Supreme Court justice. I think
- 22:42Speaker 4: Ron DeSantis would be an amazing Supreme Court justice. Guys
- 22:46Speaker 4: who are really incredibly knowledgeable about our Constitution and All
- 22:52Speaker 4: of law.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I've told this story before.
- 22:55Speaker 4: I think Ron DeSantis in his ideal world just gets
- 22:59Speaker 4: to read court opinions and make smart decisions based on them.
- 23:04Speaker 4: He actually reads the opinions themselves, which, trust me, is
- 23:08Speaker 4: very rare for most politicians. And I think both guys
- 23:12Speaker 4: are incredibly skilled, would be phenomenal.
- 23:15Speaker 1: They're young. So you could have them on.
- 23:17Speaker 4: The court for 30 plus years and they're reliable in
- 23:21Speaker 4: terms of how they would vote. I think what Trump
- 23:24Speaker 4: was getting at there, though, is maybe the most important
- 23:28Speaker 4: thing that is at stake this particular cycle. I don't
- 23:32Speaker 4: have a lot of faith that the House is going
- 23:33Speaker 4: to pass much, no matter who has control of the House.
- 23:36Speaker 4: I do know if there is a Supreme Court vacancy,
- 23:39Speaker 4: which odds are in the next two years, quite high
- 23:42Speaker 4: might happen. If there is that vacancy. then it seems
- 23:46Speaker 4: quite likely to me that if Democrats have control, we'll
- 23:50Speaker 4: sit for two years with eight Supreme Court justices, and
- 23:54Speaker 4: we will find ourselves in a situation where until January
- 23:58Speaker 4: of 2029, no one can actually get confirmed on the
- 24:03Speaker 4: Supreme Court. So to me, the most important likely scenario
- 24:08Speaker 4: that could apply, we know Judge Alito talked about the
- 24:11Speaker 4: possibility of stepping down, We saw what happened with Ruth
- 24:14Speaker 4: Bader Ginsburg. We saw what happened with Scalia. When you
- 24:17Speaker 4: get over 75 years old, your health can go in
- 24:19Speaker 4: a hurry. And we have seen this happen quite a
- 24:22Speaker 4: lot on the Supreme Court where you don't know who's
- 24:26Speaker 4: going to have the power to be able to make
- 24:28Speaker 4: an appointment. If we have 50 and the tie break,
- 24:32Speaker 4: thanks to J.D. Vance, then I think this is maybe
- 24:35Speaker 4: the most significant possibility out there. And it's a reason
- 24:39Speaker 4: to vote by itself because it's a decision for the
- 24:42Speaker 4: next 30 or 40 years.
- 24:44Speaker 2: And then there's Trump weighing in on the fact that
- 24:49Speaker 2: the Democrats are running a very strange out of the mainstream. Look,
- 24:54Speaker 2: Tallarico isn't out of the mainstream for Portland, but he's
- 24:57Speaker 2: not running for mayor of Portland. He's running for Senate president.
- 25:02Speaker 3: In Texas. And here is this is.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Cut for Trump on Tallarico on one aspect of him
- 25:09Speaker 2: that we've discussed before.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Hit it.
- 25:10Speaker 5: If you're running in Texas and if you don't like
- 25:13Speaker 5: guns and if you don't like meat and if you
- 25:16Speaker 5: don't like oil, I.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Think you should be losing by a lot.
- 25:19Speaker 5: Where the hell did they get this guy from running?
- 25:22Speaker 5: But he's attended sexualized drag shows for kids and even
- 25:25Speaker 5: said that he's a favorite drag queen. He knew all
- 25:28Speaker 5: the names of the drag queens.
- 25:29Speaker 1: My favorite drag queen?
- 25:31Speaker 5: Who the hell knows that? And not only did Califrico
- 25:34Speaker 5: state that God is transgender, he actually said that if
- 25:38Speaker 5: Jesus Christ himself came and visited the Texas legislature, Jesus
- 25:43Speaker 5: would be promoting sex changes for little children.
- 25:48Speaker 2: I just don't think that guy can become a senator
- 25:50Speaker 2: from Texas, Clay. And I think Trump really just says
- 25:53Speaker 2: what a lot of us are thinking.
- 25:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:57Speaker 4: And again, I just come back to when Beto ran
- 26:00Speaker 4: against Ted Cruz, Beto was the best possible candidate that
- 26:05Speaker 4: could be found for the Democrat Party in Texas. And
- 26:08Speaker 4: so the fact that he raised a ton of money
- 26:11Speaker 4: and he was competitive against Ted Cruz did not surprise me.
- 26:15Speaker 4: I don't think it surprised, frankly, a lot of Texans.
- 26:17Speaker 4: He was as good as Democrats could do. Tallarico is
- 26:22Speaker 4: nothing like the average Texan.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Nothing.
- 26:26Speaker 4: And you heard Trump there talking about the litany is
- 26:29Speaker 4: off the charts. I think a lot of people in
- 26:32Speaker 4: Texas just didn't pay attention because it's hard to take
- 26:35Speaker 4: him seriously. And you have to understand that he is
- 26:40Speaker 4: the upstart. They've put hundreds of millions of dollars behind
- 26:43Speaker 4: him and Texas has to wake up and get out
- 26:46Speaker 4: and vote. And I think they are, which is why
- 26:48Speaker 4: I said I am hearing increasingly pessimism in Tallarico's camp
- 26:54Speaker 4: and a lot of optimism in the Paxton camp. Every
- 26:57Speaker 4: day of early voting, Republicans are making a statement now.
- 27:02Speaker 4: get out and vote, and then we know on Election
- 27:04Speaker 4: Day Republicans are going to overwhelm Democrats too, that firewall
- 27:09Speaker 4: that Democrats tried to build up with all the enthusiasm
- 27:12Speaker 4: in the first couple of days, it's now gone. And
- 27:16Speaker 4: I think there's a lot of reason to be optimistic
- 27:19Speaker 4: going forward if you are in Texas. I also think, Buck, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa–
- 27:28Speaker 4: I think that Democrats are getting increasingly troubled by the
- 27:32Speaker 4: fact that they ever thought they could win there. Now,
- 27:36Speaker 4: you want me to be negative? North Carolina, tough. North
- 27:39Speaker 4: Carolinians need to get out and vote. Democrats have posted
- 27:42Speaker 4: some big numbers in early voting there. Ohio, as we
- 27:46Speaker 4: have said, both governor and Senate, we need all of
- 27:50Speaker 4: you out in Ohio voting too. But I think the
- 27:54Speaker 4: sort of middle part of the country right there with
- 27:56Speaker 4: the Nebraska with the Kansas, with Iowa, with Texas.
- 28:00Speaker 1: I think we were trending in a very good spot.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Forced to pick right now. Forced to pick. I think
- 28:07Speaker 2: Mike Rogers actually squeaks it out in Michigan.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Oh, you're joining the team.
- 28:12Speaker 2: I think he squeaks it out. What did you say,
- 28:14Speaker 2: less than 15,000 votes? I said he's going to win
- 28:15Speaker 2: by 26,000 votes, which is very specific.
- 28:16Speaker 6: Very specific.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Very specific.
- 28:23Speaker 4: He lost by about $ 17, 000 or $ 18, 000, I think, in 2024.
- 28:28Speaker 4: I think that he is going to find a pathway
- 28:31Speaker 4: to win in Michigan. And I think Susan Collins in Maine.
- 28:37Speaker 4: I think she's going to get it done.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Well, I thought that. Susan knows the game, and she
- 28:42Speaker 2: knows how to get it done. I've had a lot
- 28:43Speaker 2: of confidence in her the whole time. Sununu, I think, unfortunately,
- 28:46Speaker 2: has fallen a little too far behind Pappas there, which
- 28:48Speaker 2: is a shame. But maybe not. Election Day, New Hampshire,
- 28:51Speaker 2: we got New Hampshire listeners. Election Day has not even
- 28:54Speaker 2: come yet. So who knows? Don't listen to us. Just
- 28:57Speaker 2: go and vote. Clay's vote shaming campaign, by the way,
- 28:59Speaker 2: I will tell you, some members of my family have
- 29:02Speaker 2: just they don't want to get called out via proxy
- 29:05Speaker 2: on air as in buck. Have your family members voted?
- 29:08Speaker 2: So I'm not going to name them, but I've had
- 29:10Speaker 2: family members who are like. Tell Clay I voted. I
- 29:13Speaker 2: don't want to, you know, they're all voting early.
- 29:15Speaker 4: You've seen the comments. I actually dove in. Overwhelmingly positive,
- 29:20Speaker 4: the vote shaming. There are some people who are upset
- 29:22Speaker 4: and don't like to be vote shamed. But there are
- 29:24Speaker 4: a lot of people that need to get called out.
- 29:25Speaker 4: It's like, Buck, you coached.
- 29:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:27Speaker 4: Everybody has to be coached a little bit different. Sometimes
- 29:30Speaker 4: you have to cajole. Sometimes you just have to call
- 29:33Speaker 4: people out and say, hey, get off your ass.
- 29:37Speaker 1: We're better Americans than you. Go vote.
- 29:39Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:40Speaker 2: There's a lot of people that motivates. Well, I think,
- 29:42Speaker 2: what is it, Alabama that doesn't have early voting? So
- 29:44Speaker 2: obviously we're not calling out Alabama.
- 29:47Speaker 4: If you can early vote. New Hampshire has no early voting.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:51Speaker 2: We never advocate for any of you to break the
- 29:53Speaker 2: law or attempt to do so. So, yeah, no early
- 29:56Speaker 2: voting in states that don't allow it, obviously. But for
- 29:59Speaker 2: those of you who can. It's a good idea to
- 30:01Speaker 2: do so. Speaking of voting, we've got a guy who's
- 30:04Speaker 2: trying to become the next governor of California, Mr. Steve
- 30:06Speaker 2: Hilton Clay. He's going to come hang out with us
- 30:07Speaker 2: here in a minute. Notice a lot of folks in
- 30:09Speaker 2: the important races. They're like, I know what I got
- 30:11Speaker 2: to do last week before the big vote day. Go on,
- 30:14Speaker 2: Clay and Buck. I'm going to tell you that is
- 30:16Speaker 2: a sound strategy. Makes a lot of sense because of
- 30:20Speaker 2: the reach of this program. Our investors look for opportunities
- 30:23Speaker 2: to grow the money that they have, and gold is
- 30:26Speaker 2: an investment opportunity. After two years of attention-getting growth, gold,
- 30:31Speaker 2: its value has leveled out. And that may be the
- 30:33Speaker 2: perfect reason, though, to consider owning gold for the first time.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Some might call it a buying opportunity. Look, saving money
- 30:40Speaker 2: is good, of course, in cash and in gold. If
- 30:42Speaker 2: you don't own any physical gold, I encourage it. It's
- 30:44Speaker 2: one of the best investments I've made in about the last, oh,
- 30:47Speaker 2: dozen years or so. That's why I recommend learning about
- 30:50Speaker 2: owning physical gold and learning from Lear Capital. Right now,
- 30:54Speaker 2: Lear will send you a free precious metals investor kit
- 30:56Speaker 2: explaining how gold and silver can fit into a diversified
- 31:01Speaker 2: retirement strategy. Don't wait until after the election. Don't wait
- 31:04Speaker 2: for the next big spending bill to continue to chip
- 31:07Speaker 2: away at the value of your dollar.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Call Lear.
- 31:10Speaker 6: 800-957-GOLD.
- 31:10Speaker 3: That's 800-957-GOLD. Or go to learbuck.com. That's L-E-A-R-BUCK.com.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Smart, fun, sane commentary. The Clay and Buck Show. Stick around.
- 31:25Speaker 1: More is coming up just the way you'd expect it.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Welcome back in, Clay and Buck.
- 31:30Speaker 4: We are rolling through the Wednesday edition of the program
- 31:34Speaker 4: six days away. From the midterms, early voting underway. We
- 31:39Speaker 4: head out to California with our friend Steve Hilton. Steve,
- 31:42Speaker 4: I want to let you make the pitch right off
- 31:45Speaker 4: the top. Why do you need every Californian with a
- 31:48Speaker 4: brain getting out and voting for you as early as possible?
- 31:52Speaker 4: And what are you seeing on the ground in California?
- 31:56Speaker 1: Fire away.
- 31:57Speaker 6: How are you doing, guys? Great to be with you.
- 31:59Speaker 6: We're in the final stretch now. There's a lot of
- 32:02Speaker 6: energy out here. I don't know if you've been seeing.
- 32:04Speaker 6: We've got absolutely huge crowds showing up to our rallies
- 32:08Speaker 6: across the state. We were in San Diego County Monday,
- 32:11Speaker 6: Orange County yesterday, tonight in L.A., tomorrow Fresno, Friday Sacramento.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 32:17Speaker 6: Something's happening. People are done with the chaos and the
- 32:20Speaker 6: cost and the homelessness and the crime. And here's the
- 32:24Speaker 6: very simple point. It's so true everywhere. Everyone talks about turnout.
- 32:29Speaker 6: It is exactly right here in California. As I said
- 32:32Speaker 6: to you many times before, we need about 6 million votes.
- 32:36Speaker 6: That's what we think we're going to need, not just
- 32:38Speaker 6: to do well in this election, but to win the election.
- 32:41Speaker 6: 6 million. In 2024, in this state of California, President
- 32:46Speaker 6: Trump got 6.1 million votes. Now, that's a presidential year.
- 32:51Speaker 6: Midterm turnout is lower. But the reason I mention that
- 32:54Speaker 6: is that the votes are there if we want to
- 32:57Speaker 6: finally get Make some change happen in California and send
- 33:01Speaker 6: a message to this far left Democrat insanity that we're
- 33:04Speaker 6: done with it.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Steve, appreciate you being with us, guys. Steve Hilton in California.
- 33:10Speaker 2: You have to get out there and vote for him.
- 33:12Speaker 2: I think we Texas and California are two biggest markets
- 33:15Speaker 2: for listeners. So a ton of you out there get
- 33:17Speaker 2: out there and vote for him. Look, I have I
- 33:19Speaker 2: have a strange confidence here, Stephen. Maybe it's because. Bearded
- 33:23Speaker 2: Steve Hilton is just unbeatable. Clean-shaven Steve Hilton would have had.
- 33:27Speaker 3: A tougher time.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Bearded Steve Hilton, I think, is too much for the
- 33:31Speaker 2: communist machine to handle in the state of California. But
- 33:35Speaker 2: of all the messages you could have hit on this one,
- 33:37Speaker 2: I think the affordability issue, which is the top of
- 33:41Speaker 2: the heap for everyone everywhere, in California, it's a mess.
- 33:45Speaker 2: They've got to vote for you if they don't want
- 33:47Speaker 2: the mess to continue.
- 33:49Speaker 6: Yeah, and it's very simple. what we can get done,
- 33:52Speaker 6: and I can get this done without the legislature. Here's
- 33:55Speaker 6: the simple point as well about the state of our politics.
- 33:58Speaker 6: The Democrats run the legislature with a two-thirds majority. They've
- 34:02Speaker 6: been doing that since 2012, which is one of the
- 34:06Speaker 6: reasons we're in this mess. They've had total unconstrained power
- 34:11Speaker 6: to do anything that they want. Now, I've been very careful.
- 34:15Speaker 6: to put forward plans that I can get done without
- 34:17Speaker 6: the legislature, directly through what the governor can do. And
- 34:21Speaker 6: two of those top ones are exactly what you just said.
- 34:24Speaker 6: Lower tax, cheaper gas. On tax, I'm going to cut
- 34:27Speaker 6: the budget back by $ 25 billion, starting with canceling high-speed rail,
- 34:33Speaker 6: getting rid of fraud in the Medi-Cal system, and a
- 34:36Speaker 6: few other things that we've outlined here. to cut state
- 34:39Speaker 6: income tax, your first $ 150, 000 tax-free, no state income tax.
- 34:45Speaker 6: It's the quickest and most direct way of getting more
- 34:48Speaker 6: money in your pocket for the government to take less out. Secondly,
- 34:52Speaker 6: on gas prices, which are now $ 2 higher here than
- 34:56Speaker 6: the national average, I can bring that down pretty much
- 35:00Speaker 6: overnight by suspending two really important provisions In this law
- 35:05Speaker 6: that was passed 20 years ago, the Global Warming Solutions
- 35:08Speaker 6: Act that imposes a hidden tax on gas. So my
- 35:11Speaker 6: target is $ 3 gas. That will take some time to
- 35:14Speaker 6: get to. But we can immediately bring the cost down
- 35:18Speaker 6: by at least $ 1, if not more, pretty much overnight.
- 35:22Speaker 6: Lower tax, cheaper gas.
- 35:23Speaker 3: That's it.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Amen, everybody.
- 35:26Speaker 4: Go vote today for Steve Hilton. Get out, make California
- 35:31Speaker 4: voice for sanity. Heard, Steve, we know how hard you're working.
- 35:35Speaker 4: We appreciate you, and we got your back. Everybody in California,
- 35:38Speaker 4: go do the same. Vote for Steve Hilton.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Thank you, brother. Q, see you soon.
- 35:43Speaker 6: Thanks.
- 35:44Speaker 4: All right, that's Steve Hilton. When we come back, we
- 35:46Speaker 4: got a lot more drama for you.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Keep hanging.
