- 2:12Hello, everybody, and welcome back to the Elon Musk pod.
- 2:15My name is Will Walden, and I am the host of this show where I'll
- 2:20be Lon fans here. And we love the things that Elon
- 2:25Musk does with SpaceX with Tesla.
- 2:31Boring company is cool, flame throwers.
- 2:34Joe Rogan Experience, Podcast episodes.
- 2:38Real real cool. Fun stuff, Visionary guy, but he
- 2:45has a little bit of little bit of a loudmouth sometimes
- 2:49Twitter, saying, some things that get him in trouble with
- 2:53shareholders and the like, and that's fine, he's, he's, you
- 3:01know, he's an American, he can say whatever he wants to say,
- 3:04until, of course, there's laws about it and then they, well,
- 3:06that's a whole other episode. This episode is about his
- 3:12standoff with elemina county in California.
- 3:17Now, that's where it's Tesla Factory, is the produce Vehicles
- 3:21there? And Alameda County doesn't want
- 3:26Tesla to open back up, not yet because the coronavirus covid-19
- 3:32situation going on, you'll end musk thinks that it's fine and
- 3:37California, governor stated that vehicle manufacturing should
- 3:45continue during the covid-19 pandemic.
- 3:48So that's where we're coming from the governor of California
- 3:51says. Totally fine to produce vehicles
- 3:56in California. As long as you take the right
- 3:58precautions. Now, Alameda County has their
- 4:01own set of rules. And they say that manufacturing
- 4:07should cease until they figure out how to take care of what
- 4:11they need to take care of for the coronavirus.
- 4:14Covid-19 outbreak Elon is fighting them.
- 4:19He's suing them. He's fighting them in the courts
- 4:24and also He has told them that he will be going while.
- 4:32He's told everybody on Twitter, that he will be going back to
- 4:36the assembly line with the rest of the workers.
- 4:38He'll be on the line. and they are defying a order to stay
- 4:45closed and he said in his tweet, That if anybody goes to jail, he
- 4:51wants it to be him. Luckily, no one went to jail.
- 4:57Nobody was arrested. Elon, didn't get arrested.
- 5:00They will probably face some sanctions for this or some fines
- 5:03for this but Elon has a bunch of powerful lawyers that he'll be
- 5:11fighting Alameda County with So he's very unpredictable and he
- 5:18has reopened the Tesla Factory despite Alameda County orders
- 5:23mandating that it stays shunt due to the coronavirus outbreak.
- 5:30So, what's going on here? Why do they Why do they need to
- 5:36open back up? Well, because people need cars.
- 5:42You know, that's that's what California thinks, the state of
- 5:44California, the whole state, the governor of California said,
- 5:47manufacturing of vehicles is. Okay, people need Vehicles.
- 5:51People need trucks to do work. They need cars to travel with
- 5:55even though it's a stay-at-home order right now, but you can
- 5:58still travel. You have to still go to the
- 6:01store in the way, you go to the stores with the car, right?
- 6:04And fortunately for Tesla, you can order a Tesla with your
- 6:07phone. You don't have to go to a
- 6:08showroom like other vehicle manufacturers, you know?
- 6:11Like Ford Chevy Subaru, Etc. You don't have to go to a store,
- 6:16you don't have to go to an auto dealer to pick up your car.
- 6:20The car comes to you. So that's great.
- 6:24You can order one on your phone within five minutes and it'll
- 6:28show up eventually. So that's great.
- 6:32Elon Musk is he's mad. He told people that, you know,
- 6:38come arrest me, man. I'll be on the line with the
- 6:40rest of the workers. I'll be doing my work, and I'm
- 6:43here for you. Workers were going to stand
- 6:46side-by-side. We're going to stay open.
- 6:48We're going to keep your jobs going.
- 6:49Because if we don't keep these jobs going, these people don't
- 6:52get paid. Tesla doesn't make money and we
- 6:55don't get cars. So that sucks.
- 6:58It sucks to not have a car. So Governor Gavin, Newsom told
- 7:05the state of California, the manufacturers can stay open
- 7:10Alameda County ascended, a shelter in place order and only
- 7:14essential businesses are supposed to be open Tesla's
- 7:18lawsuit, argues that Alameda County is for shutdown.
- 7:21Ignores an order from the the fornia governor Gavin Newsom,
- 7:25which allows businesses from 16 critical, infrastructure
- 7:29Industries to remain, open one of which is transportation Now
- 7:37another thing is Elon Musk said that he would move Tesla from
- 7:41California all together. He said in a tweet frankly this
- 7:45is the final straw. Tesla will now move its HQ in
- 7:49future programs to Texas and Nevada immediately.
- 7:53If we ever retain Fremont manufacturing activity at all,
- 7:56it will be dependent on how Tesla is treated in the future.
- 7:58Tesla is the last car maker left in California. so, California,
- 8:05assemblywoman Lorraine ago. Gonzales tweeted F beep, Elon
- 8:14Musk. So then I happy with the lon.
- 8:19So he's also kind of you know, Elon is kind of well those
- 8:23people there's dismisses the coronavirus as not as bad as
- 8:29everyone says it is covid-19 isn't as bad as they say it is.
- 8:32He says that the threat posed by by the coronavirus is overblown,
- 8:39and he's also tweeted misinformation about the virus,
- 8:42including that children are basically immune You know, and
- 8:46he's using the law of averages to take that into effect
- 8:51children are not as susceptible to the virus as say, you know,
- 8:59somebody in their 80s 85 years old but they're not basically
- 9:04immune they just won't get it as much as you know, somebody who's
- 9:08older. So he's called, you know, states
- 9:12that are in lockdown. He's called them fascist.
- 9:14He said to all sorts of Horrible things.
- 9:18You know, saying that it's not the American way to do this.
- 9:20We should be free to make the choice to go back to work if we
- 9:24want. So that's the you know that's
- 9:30where it's at right now. And hopefully you know, musk
- 9:36wins his argument with the Alameda County officials and
- 9:41gets back to work. And keeps the plant open because
- 9:44people need jobs and I I know that they'll do it.
- 9:49Cautiously. And they'll make sure that
- 9:53everyone's taken care of. If there are any covid cases in
- 9:57the Tesla Factory, they'll take care of what they need to take
- 9:59care of. So, you know, you really don't
- 10:02know what people are doing outside of Work.
- 10:07So they have to make sure that everything's, you know, is as
- 10:10clean and as protected as possible.
- 10:13Now, do I agree with this. I don't have an opinion one way
- 10:19or the other because I don't have all the facts, right?
- 10:22So I need to have all the facts and I'm not a news news guy.
- 10:26Like I'm not going to dig through hours and hours and
- 10:29hours of lawsuits and covid-19 data Etc, to figure out exactly
- 10:35what needs to be done or if this is the right move, or not
- 10:38because and I'm not in California.
- 10:39So I really have no say in what they do in California because I
- 10:44don't know what's going on locally.
- 10:46But what I do know is what I told you already that Elon is
- 10:51trying to defy his local government and he's trying to
- 10:56keep his Factory. Open to keep Tesla rolling out
- 10:59the Chinese factories doing great.
- 11:01The China factories doing stupendous said, so on The Joe
- 11:05Rogan podcast, so yeah, he's got that going for him, you know,
- 11:10and the Berlin Factory it's coming in hot so you know
- 11:15there's a bunch of stuff that's going on.
- 11:16On with Tesla. And if he were to pick up and
- 11:18move his manufacturing to another state, California would
- 11:21lose out big time. On a lot of revenue from from
- 11:28the California company Tesla. So if that were the case, well
- 11:32it might have to pick up and leave if nothing goes like, Elon
- 11:35W. So is the power to do it?
- 11:37You can just up and move, you have the money, you have the
- 11:40power, you need to get things manufactured.
- 11:43You got to do it. So if it's going to be for the
- 11:46future and stuff like this is going to happen again, you know,
- 11:50maybe maybe the move, who knows. So I'm just gonna cut it off
- 11:55there guys, and I want to say, thanks to all of you for hanging
- 11:59out. Thanks to honey.
