- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Well, guys, congratulations and thank you so much for being here.
- 0:12Speaker 2: I'm going to start out by talking I just I
- 0:14Speaker 2: really want to start out by asking you guys about
- 0:16Speaker 2: the finale episode. So, Joey, when did you know that
- 0:20Speaker 2: Kelsey was the one? Because we have to say that
- 0:24Speaker 2: you weren't the best actor with Daisy in the finale,
- 0:27Speaker 2: which is totally fine. I love transparency. But we heard
- 0:30Speaker 2: on the Chicks in the Office podcast that Daisy walked
- 0:33Speaker 2: into the room, your room and you quickly had to
- 0:36Speaker 2: hide a letter that you wrote to Kelsey that said
- 0:39Speaker 2: I see you as my wife. So you had to
- 0:42Speaker 2: have known before that finale week.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that I can give as much context as poss
- 0:47Speaker 3: up on that. So we always said there was a
- 0:50Speaker 3: lot of breadcrumbser about the whole thing that led to
- 0:52Speaker 3: that final moment. It really did start all the way
- 0:56Speaker 3: back and Ron after the first one on one and
- 0:58Speaker 3: that Malta day that to give context in the note,
- 1:02Speaker 3: she wrote me a really sweet letter on like a postcard,
- 1:05Speaker 3: and I was like thinking about her so much.
- 1:07Speaker 4: I was like, you know what, let me just get
- 1:08Speaker 4: my thoughts.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Out, I wanted to journal it and I dated it
- 1:11Speaker 3: and it was all the way back in Malta. But yeah,
- 1:13Speaker 3: that was at the moment where things were starting with
- 1:15Speaker 3: us and I did say like I could see you
- 1:17Speaker 3: as a future wife, So I wanted to read it
- 1:19Speaker 3: to her on the final date so that she knew
- 1:22Speaker 3: this has been going for a while. But I in
- 1:25Speaker 3: my position, as everyone knows, have to stay open, have
- 1:28Speaker 3: to go through the whole process to make sure that
- 1:30Speaker 3: I give her the full confirmation that she deserves. And
- 1:33Speaker 3: we both agreed, like the final moment which America sold
- 1:36Speaker 3: two was after she met my family. Like after we
- 1:39Speaker 3: got through her meeting my family, I knew she was
- 1:41Speaker 3: ready and where she was at. That was when I
- 1:43Speaker 3: think I started acting a little bit differently and not
- 1:46Speaker 3: giving Daisy what she needed and was very aware of
- 1:49Speaker 3: my words, and I can say I regretted all of that,
- 1:52Speaker 3: but I know I did.
- 1:53Speaker 4: It the best that I could.
- 1:54Speaker 3: And I think what's most important now is she knows
- 1:56Speaker 3: how much my love was always there for her, and yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 3: we both would day obviously nothing but the best.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Well, you just handled everything this season so perfectly. Greatest
- 2:06Speaker 2: Bachelor in a very long time, We're just so grateful
- 2:08Speaker 2: for you because you really really like rejuvenized the franchise
- 2:12Speaker 2: and you were you were excellent and you couldn't have
- 2:15Speaker 2: picked a more wonderful woman. I Y, when Daisy came
- 2:20Speaker 2: to your room and started asking you about how you
- 2:23Speaker 2: felt your week went, when, what did you think? Where
- 2:27Speaker 2: did you think the conversation was leading?
- 2:29Speaker 1: I had no idea, And through the whole process, I
- 2:31Speaker 1: never really talked a whole lot about Joey and I's
- 2:33Speaker 1: relationship to other women.
- 2:34Speaker 5: I didn't think it was necessary. I just kind of
- 2:36Speaker 5: held it to myself.
- 2:38Speaker 1: So whenever she was asking me those questions, I was
- 2:39Speaker 1: just like trying to be vague.
- 2:41Speaker 5: I was like, yeah, it was good, it was good.
- 2:42Speaker 1: And then she like had asked me a couple of times,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and finally I was like, she's like asking me like
- 2:48Speaker 1: did you get validation? You're like, what, Like, can you
- 2:50Speaker 1: tell me? I just She's like, if you're comfortable with it.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Finally I was like, yeah, you know, I got a
- 2:56Speaker 1: lot of.
- 2:56Speaker 5: Validation and reassurance.
- 2:59Speaker 1: And then I think that she was like thankful for
- 3:02Speaker 1: that because she knew that how she felt and she
- 3:04Speaker 1: just wanted me and Joey to be happy, but it
- 3:06Speaker 1: was a special moment.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:09Speaker 2: So then you guys you said on another podcast, because
- 3:12Speaker 2: I don't want to repeat questions with you guys, but
- 3:15Speaker 2: you said on another podcast that you don't remember who
- 3:19Speaker 2: came up with the actual idea of getting in the
- 3:21Speaker 2: car together. But once that was decided, did you know
- 3:25Speaker 2: that Daisy was going to tell Joey? I know it's
- 3:28Speaker 2: not me, Like, did you know what was about to
- 3:30Speaker 2: happen as the car stopped?
- 3:33Speaker 5: I mean, I wasn't positive what she was going to do.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I knew that she wanted to go and do it
- 3:39Speaker 1: in her own way, and I was just supportive in
- 3:41Speaker 1: whatever she wanted to do, and like, if she felt
- 3:45Speaker 1: comfortable ending it, then to do so.
- 3:47Speaker 5: But I was really happy with her and proud of her.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Yeah, so, so how did it go? Like did the
- 3:52Speaker 2: producer say, all right, well, Daisy's gonna get out of
- 3:54Speaker 2: the car first, and she's gonna walk down the aisle
- 3:56Speaker 2: and then Kelsey, you're gonna be second. Because to all
- 3:59Speaker 2: of us us that's the dead giveaway that you're about
- 4:01Speaker 2: you're about to be proposed to.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I think that at that point everybody just kind of knew,
- 4:07Speaker 1: like okay, like Joey was gonna propose to me. I
- 4:10Speaker 1: was still a little like, you never know. I was like,
- 4:15Speaker 1: I don't know until he's down on one knee, but
- 4:16Speaker 1: I hope so, And some of my producers were like,
- 4:19Speaker 1: are you crazy right now?
- 4:21Speaker 3: Okay was first because I was expecting to end it
- 4:27Speaker 3: with her in that moment, So that was all planned before.
- 4:30Speaker 4: I didn't know until after the fact that they that.
- 4:33Speaker 5: We went together, that we had a conversation before. He
- 4:35Speaker 5: didn't know any of that, yeh.
- 4:37Speaker 1: But but yeah, No, she got out the car first
- 4:40Speaker 1: and then we had a hug, and then she immediately
- 4:43Speaker 1: just walked down to Joey and then I fixed my hair.
- 4:49Speaker 2: So you guys were actually interacting right before going down
- 4:52Speaker 2: the aisle.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Yes.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Wow.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Ben was certain that you guys it looked like you
- 4:58Speaker 2: were in the car together, which of course you were
- 4:59Speaker 2: in the car together, but that you got separated and
- 5:02Speaker 2: then they sent one of you down so that you
- 5:05Speaker 2: wouldn't know who actually was going first.
- 5:07Speaker 1: No, she immediately walked down. Yeah, we gave like the
- 5:11Speaker 1: and I was like, I was good luck.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Wow, that truly is unprecedented. But Joey, you we saw
- 5:19Speaker 2: you teased all summer long. Well you didn't tease, but like,
- 5:22Speaker 2: you know, the scenes for the next episode or the
- 5:24Speaker 2: scenes from the finale teased all season long that you
- 5:28Speaker 2: like break it down at the altar and that you're
- 5:30Speaker 2: You're like, there's no way that's ever happened before, and
- 5:34Speaker 2: you were just just so wrecked. What was that about it?
- 5:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, it's it was.
- 5:39Speaker 3: They did a really good job of making it seem
- 5:41Speaker 3: like I was alone and that I ended up with
- 5:44Speaker 3: no one because of how they like put different scenes together,
- 5:47Speaker 3: and I kind of had a figuring that they would
- 5:49Speaker 3: do that. But for me, I've expressed the emotions were
- 5:53Speaker 3: that I didn't want to put Daisy through that, Like
- 5:55Speaker 3: I felt horrible, and I think everyone saw that and
- 5:58Speaker 3: that emotion when she walked away, I'm glad, and she said,
- 6:01Speaker 3: I'm glad she got to do it on her own,
- 6:02Speaker 3: but for her to then walk away, I need to
- 6:04Speaker 3: be standing there, Like the emotions hit and I felt
- 6:07Speaker 3: terrible that I did that to someone. So it also
- 6:10Speaker 3: looked like I got dumped, so that that's the whole
- 6:13Speaker 3: thing too.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Were you afraid that they could have edited to make
- 6:16Speaker 2: it look alike you were dumped in the end, and that,
- 6:18Speaker 2: like Kelsey was default girl.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that anyone can be afraid of how
- 6:24Speaker 3: everything's gonna look. But we knew that at the end
- 6:26Speaker 3: of the day, we can always control our story. We've
- 6:29Speaker 3: talked about that a ton is like we will try
- 6:31Speaker 3: our best to explain if something seems to be like
- 6:34Speaker 3: misinterpreted or anything like that.
- 6:36Speaker 4: But we knew how strong.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Our love was and how much we were so excited
- 6:40Speaker 3: to see our moment and our engagement. But we knew
- 6:42Speaker 3: because of the ending, it was going to be a
- 6:44Speaker 3: whole different experience for everyone that was a part of it.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Yeah, because Daisy was so certain it wasn't her like
- 6:52Speaker 2: she felt that in her bones. It meant that you
- 6:55Speaker 2: sort of treated her like that. Doesn't that make you,
- 7:01Speaker 2: Kelsey feel even more confident in what you have that
- 7:03Speaker 2: you never have to look back on the season and
- 7:05Speaker 2: be like, man, he was really torn between the two
- 7:07Speaker 2: of us.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that that was my biggest fear, and
- 7:09Speaker 1: I talked to him about that a lot, you know,
- 7:12Speaker 1: of like I don't want you to be confused at
- 7:15Speaker 1: the end of who it's gonna be, and like if
- 7:17Speaker 1: you get down on one knee for me, like it
- 7:19Speaker 1: needs to be one hundred and ten percent me because
- 7:21Speaker 1: I think that that's what I deserve.
- 7:22Speaker 5: I also think that's what he deserves.
- 7:24Speaker 1: You know. It's a love that he's so certain about
- 7:26Speaker 1: and that I'm so certain about. So yeah, I think
- 7:28Speaker 1: that that's how I knew for sure that you know,
- 7:31Speaker 1: if you got down one knee from me, it was
- 7:33Speaker 1: it was me.
- 7:34Speaker 2: For sure, Kelsey. You didn't give a speech. From what
- 7:48Speaker 2: we saw at the altar, every girl has to kind
- 7:51Speaker 2: of give her recipient, you know, she has to do
- 7:56Speaker 2: her own little thing before getting proposed to. You on
- 7:58Speaker 2: the Bachelor, from what we saw, just got to kind
- 8:02Speaker 2: of enjoy being proposed to. But how did it actually
- 8:04Speaker 2: go down?
- 8:05Speaker 1: So I actually said my speech first, and I'm not
- 8:09Speaker 1: sure why I was cut out, maybe to look like
- 8:11Speaker 1: I might say no, maybe to maybe to look like,
- 8:15Speaker 1: you know, just that he got down on one knee, or
- 8:18Speaker 1: maybe I was stuttering a lot.
- 8:19Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 8:19Speaker 6: The whole moment was black out for me. I was
- 8:21Speaker 6: just like, please proposed to me. But she said a
- 8:25Speaker 6: lot of really sweet things she said. Even after she
- 8:27Speaker 6: was like, man, I think I messed my speech up.
- 8:29Speaker 6: I had a whole other section that I forgot about. Yeah,
- 8:31Speaker 6: I'm sure that moment was a.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Little bit jumbled, but she said beautiful things and it's
- 8:35Speaker 3: for us.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I remember it the fact that I always get stressed
- 8:39Speaker 2: out that the you know that the person standing up
- 8:43Speaker 2: there has to give a speech, So I feel you
- 8:45Speaker 2: if you jumbled it. I'm always impressed by how articulate
- 8:48Speaker 2: everybody is, even without notes.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I was rehearsing it multiple times. I was like,
- 8:53Speaker 1: can I bring these please?
- 8:55Speaker 2: That's right, just like a couple of little bullet points,
- 8:57Speaker 2: like because I was thinking about like at my wedding,
- 8:59Speaker 2: like you know, I had to read it. I'm a
- 9:02Speaker 2: great writer, but I can't exactly like just memorize lines
- 9:07Speaker 2: then deliver them in front of an audience. So bravo
- 9:10Speaker 2: for whatever whatever you did, because I'm sure it was amazing.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Was there a moment throughout the entire season that you
- 9:18Speaker 2: guys shared that didn't get aired that when the episode
- 9:22Speaker 2: ended up airing, you're like, oh, bomber, that didn't make
- 9:24Speaker 2: the cut.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I'll speak on one because I think that one of
- 9:28Speaker 3: the bigger ones was a moment we had where she
- 9:31Speaker 3: got the group date rose after the missus right, she
- 9:34Speaker 3: said something during the Missus Right competition about like I
- 9:38Speaker 3: want to create new memories. So I came up with
- 9:40Speaker 3: the idea of I wanted to get a polaroid camera
- 9:43Speaker 3: and we took two selfies, so we had two different pictures.
- 9:46Speaker 3: She got the hold onto one, I got the hold
- 9:47Speaker 3: onto one, And that was like the big part of
- 9:49Speaker 3: our comma we had that night that this is now
- 9:52Speaker 3: a new memory that we can hold onto and like
- 9:53Speaker 3: share new experiences. So that was kind of a moment
- 9:57Speaker 3: that I wish we could have saw.
- 9:59Speaker 2: That's probably one of the moments that were like, well,
- 10:02Speaker 2: we can't make it too obvious that Kelsey's the winner.
- 10:05Speaker 5: Yeah, where was our whole conversation the polaroids for us?
- 10:09Speaker 4: And we still got the polaroids.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Yeah, we do as somebody else who's like in a
- 10:13Speaker 2: bachelor relationship, but we I always find it to be
- 10:17Speaker 2: almost frustrating that we have like so much footage from
- 10:19Speaker 2: the beginning of our relationship that we'll never be able
- 10:22Speaker 2: to see.
- 10:23Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's part of it.
- 10:25Speaker 3: We'd love to have a full tape of every single moment.
- 10:28Speaker 3: That'd be a good gift. O.
- 10:30Speaker 2: No, come on, guys, just give us like a little
- 10:32Speaker 2: secret highlight reel. All right, So yesterday we were talking
- 10:37Speaker 2: to Rachel Rekia and Susie Evans and they told us
- 10:41Speaker 2: that they felt that soon after the finale was filmed
- 10:47Speaker 2: that they realized they didn't really know their new significant other.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Did you guys have any of those feelings during the
- 10:53Speaker 2: Happy couple of retreats?
- 10:55Speaker 1: I think I got stressed on like the initial like
- 10:57Speaker 1: right after we got proposed, but then like Joey calmed
- 11:01Speaker 1: me down and we're just gonna take this one step
- 11:03Speaker 1: at a time pretty much.
- 11:04Speaker 5: And I think we pretty much did dating and reverse.
- 11:07Speaker 4: You know.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Yeah, we did the hard the hard hitters at the beginning,
- 11:10Speaker 1: and then we got into the easier stuff, like you know,
- 11:14Speaker 1: the fact that he's really into sports, and then we
- 11:16Speaker 1: love watching well, we want to watch live sports together
- 11:19Speaker 1: because I love going to live sporting events and things
- 11:21Speaker 1: like that. I think that, you know, it was fun
- 11:24Speaker 1: to learn about the little things throughout all of this little.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Little thing is a huge thing for her and it's
- 11:29Speaker 3: like totally ununderstandable and what she's really good at that's
- 11:32Speaker 3: been so fun is and I realized I need to
- 11:35Speaker 3: work on it. She has like roll of deeckx of
- 11:37Speaker 3: questions always, and she did so good at that in
- 11:39Speaker 3: the beginning, like, no, I want to know all these
- 11:41Speaker 3: little things about you and I want you to me
- 11:45Speaker 3: And she did that, and like that has made a
- 11:47Speaker 3: huge difference because I don't know if she didn't do that,
- 11:49Speaker 3: I don't know if we.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Know as much about each other that we actually do.
- 11:52Speaker 4: And we're still learning.
- 11:53Speaker 3: We know that there's a lot to learn, but we
- 11:55Speaker 3: have that foundation, which is what's most important.
- 11:57Speaker 2: No, I love that. I remember being on The Bachelor
- 12:00Speaker 2: and I wanted to ask random questions like that. But
- 12:02Speaker 2: it's also like, do you just just randomly in the
- 12:05Speaker 2: middle of the fifteen minutes that you have together during
- 12:08Speaker 2: group date? Just like, so, what's your favorite movie? Just
- 12:10Speaker 2: like do you randomly blurt that out?
- 12:11Speaker 5: Did you do that?
- 12:13Speaker 4: Yeah? We did.
- 12:13Speaker 3: We had little stuff like that, and like you said,
- 12:15Speaker 3: the perfect time always is those like group date moments
- 12:17Speaker 3: because you only get a certain amount of time. But
- 12:20Speaker 3: then we also she wanted to make sure she said
- 12:21Speaker 3: a lot more about her family, important things about each other.
- 12:24Speaker 3: But yeah, yeah, the little moments, and we did that
- 12:26Speaker 3: on overnights too. We did a lot of small stuff.
- 12:28Speaker 5: Yeah, we did. It was fun. I actually had a wait.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I actually journaled like a bunch of questions that I
- 12:34Speaker 1: wanted to ask him, and during fantasy suites, I was like, Okay,
- 12:38Speaker 1: I had to ask you this, and I want to
- 12:39Speaker 1: ask you this.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Like thought about this run out the journal.
- 12:42Speaker 5: Yeah, that is so cute.
- 12:44Speaker 2: That's the perfect time to bring out the journal.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Well, speaking of fantasy suitets. Okay, So you guys are
- 12:49Speaker 2: revealed on the Chicks in the Office podcast that the
- 12:51Speaker 2: Taylor Swift song dress is like your song and Joe
- 12:55Speaker 2: you said that you would have the producers put it
- 12:57Speaker 2: on when you're missing Kelsey in the mid to filming.
- 13:01Speaker 2: You did not mention, though, that it's a very sexy
- 13:04Speaker 2: song about anticipation. Like, let's let lyric quote here, only
- 13:08Speaker 2: bought this dress so you can take it off call
- 13:12Speaker 2: name into my bedpost.
- 13:14Speaker 5: Did you have some day.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Dreams on airplanes and stuff, just fantasizing about the fantasy
- 13:20Speaker 2: suite to come?
- 13:22Speaker 3: I can say that, she said, like she explained the
- 13:25Speaker 3: song obviously talked about the crowded room lyric and everything.
- 13:27Speaker 3: It's like, it's a beautiful song and the chorus hit.
- 13:29Speaker 3: When I was listening to the first time, I was like, damn, Kelsey, okay,
- 13:33Speaker 3: like I'm gonna hold this one in the back of
- 13:34Speaker 3: my head. Like, I was like, this is a little
- 13:36Speaker 3: provocative of a song here. So we laughed about that
- 13:40Speaker 3: a ton, and then when I got to see her
- 13:42Speaker 3: the next time I talked about it, I did say that.
- 13:44Speaker 4: I was like, you know, dress is a very like,
- 13:46Speaker 4: very aggressive song.
- 13:47Speaker 1: It was hilarious. Whenever he saw me next, he was like, oh,
- 13:50Speaker 1: listen to that song. He's like kind of provocative.
- 13:53Speaker 5: I don't know what. That was one of my favorite
- 13:54Speaker 5: moments of us together. The way he said like provocative.
- 13:57Speaker 4: I was like, okay, yeah, she got me blushed on.
- 14:00Speaker 2: And then I started blushing whenever you said that, Kelsey,
- 14:04Speaker 2: everybody loves your dad, big fan favorite. I think he
- 14:08Speaker 2: seems like perfect inside and out, And it looked like
- 14:11Speaker 2: he was a little bit smiley and your brother nudged
- 14:14Speaker 2: him when Jesse said, maybe we'll be seeing more of
- 14:18Speaker 2: you in the future. Does that mean that he's going
- 14:20Speaker 2: to be on the next season of The Golden Bachelorette.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I'm not sure, but I think that that sounds so
- 14:26Speaker 1: exciting for him.
- 14:28Speaker 2: You think that that sounds exciting for him, So you
- 14:30Speaker 2: guys would be open you as a family, and your
- 14:32Speaker 2: dad open to finding love again.
- 14:35Speaker 5: I think that it would be a good push for him.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, okay, all right, well, guys, thank you so
- 14:40Speaker 2: much for joining us. I have this quick shout out
- 14:43Speaker 2: that I have to do for our producer Amy, She
- 14:46Speaker 2: and us on the Almost In this podcast, we want
- 14:48Speaker 2: to give a shout out to Taylor Ford. Her boyfriend
- 14:51Speaker 2: called us and said that all she wants for her
- 14:52Speaker 2: birthday is a shout out from Joey and Kelsey and
- 14:54Speaker 2: she just turned nineteen and she plays beach volleyball at UCLA. So, guys,
- 14:58Speaker 2: can you just say Happy birthday Taylor Ford?
- 15:01Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 15:02Speaker 3: Three two one, Happy Birthday Taylor Ford.
