- 1:56Speaker 4: the Thundering Herd has the monumental task of going to
- 2:00Speaker 4: i'm us to take on Ohio State at the Shoe
- 2:02Speaker 4: High School. Wise, we don't have our traditional game tonight normally,
- 2:07Speaker 4: you know, we have Hurricane on five ADWCCHS and then
- 2:10Speaker 4: we have Herbert Hoover on ninety six one KWS, our
- 2:13Speaker 4: sister station. Well, the Redskins of Hurricane are playing somewhere
- 2:18Speaker 4: on the road in Michigan. However, we are going to
- 2:21Speaker 4: have a live stream of that game, but not on
- 2:25Speaker 4: the radio. It'll be at WCCHS network dot com. So
- 2:28Speaker 4: if you've been following Hurricane Redskins this season on five ADWCCHS, again,
- 2:32Speaker 4: they're playing in Michigan. We talk about a road game.
- 2:35Speaker 4: That's a heck of a road game. We will have
- 2:38Speaker 4: the audio coverage at wcchsnetwork dot com, so be sure
- 2:43Speaker 4: and check that out tonight. Herbert Hoover is off tonight. Again,
- 2:45Speaker 4: we normally have them on our sister station, ninety six
- 2:48Speaker 4: one KWS, but they're off tonight, So no high school
- 2:51Speaker 4: preview with Tom Bragg or Chris Lawrence this morning. I
- 2:54Speaker 4: will invite you, though, to stick around tonight because after
- 2:57Speaker 4: ten o'clock or so we'll be joining Fred Persinger Dave
- 3:00Speaker 4: Jecklin with high school game nights coming up on the
- 3:03Speaker 4: show this morning. Mayor Scott Edwards of Hurricanes is going
- 3:05Speaker 4: to join us to talk about their fall festival tomorrow
- 3:07Speaker 4: and some other things going on in Hurricane Leah's Legacy.
- 3:12Speaker 4: This is a five k run and walk that's going
- 3:15Speaker 4: to be held Sunday in Charleston. We're going to get
- 3:17Speaker 4: into that with some of the organizers, plus Jill Garon
- 3:19Speaker 4: from the Dirty Birds. We'll be joining us. The Bird's
- 3:22Speaker 4: playoff game. They were off last night. Their game is
- 3:25Speaker 4: tonight at Gastonia. That series currently tied at one game
- 3:29Speaker 4: a piece, the Birds taking game one on Tuesday night
- 3:32Speaker 4: ago Mark Ballpark. Gastonia took game two and then they
- 3:35Speaker 4: were off last night, so now they go on the
- 3:37Speaker 4: road best of five and the series is tied at
- 3:40Speaker 4: one game apiece. Joe Gearan from the Dirty Birds will
- 3:41Speaker 4: join us to talk about that a little bit later on.
- 3:44Speaker 4: We are having issues connecting with Hannah from the Canawah
- 3:47Speaker 4: Charleston Humane Association with this week's Adopt Me Please Pet
- 3:50Speaker 4: of the Week. So Ryan is feverishly working to try
- 3:54Speaker 4: to get a hold of Hannah to see what the
- 3:55Speaker 4: deal is there. If we get her, then we will
- 3:59Speaker 4: we'll put her on the line. But I do have
- 4:02Speaker 4: our dog, as I do every week. The picture is
- 4:04Speaker 4: posted at Dave Allen Radio and Facebook and at Dave
- 4:08Speaker 4: a seventy on Twitter, and again, if Hannah is able
- 4:10Speaker 4: to join us, we'll add her to update us on
- 4:13Speaker 4: some things going on at the shelter. But our dog
- 4:15Speaker 4: this week, and I love this name. The dog's name
- 4:17Speaker 4: is Agent Beef. Agent Beef is three years old. He
- 4:22Speaker 4: is around fifty three pounds. He is deaf. So whoever
- 4:26Speaker 4: adopts this dog is going to have to be somebody
- 4:28Speaker 4: that's willing to work with Agent Deaf. Our agent Agent Beef.
- 4:34Speaker 4: Agent Beef, who is deaf. Agent Beef is vaccinated. He
- 4:39Speaker 4: is microchipped and neutered, and seems to be kid friendly.
- 4:43Speaker 4: He does prefer calmer dogs. He loves naps among his
- 4:46Speaker 4: doesen't and he also loves to play with his tennis balls.
- 4:49Speaker 4: And he loves to eat chicken. So there you go.
- 4:51Speaker 4: That's our dog. We got her, We got her all right.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Hannah is with us right now. Hannah, Good morning, Welcome
- 4:58Speaker 4: to the show. Hannah. Are you there all right? Hannah,
- 5:05Speaker 4: good morning, good morning. There you are there you are?
- 5:08Speaker 4: We started without you this morning. Oh man, we didn't
- 5:13Speaker 4: have high school football preview, that's what you know. I
- 5:15Speaker 4: told you that. So because Herbert Hoover's off tonight and
- 5:20Speaker 4: Chris Lawrence, who normally covers the Hurricane game. They're playing
- 5:23Speaker 4: way on the road in Michigan, so we didn't do
- 5:25Speaker 4: the high school football preview. So you got called into
- 5:27Speaker 4: action a little bit earlier this morning. But appreciate you
- 5:31Speaker 4: joining us. I've already told the folks a little bit
- 5:33Speaker 4: about Agent Beef, but I will let you pick up
- 5:36Speaker 4: and maybe on anything that I didn't cover. So tell
- 5:38Speaker 4: us all about Agent Beef.
- 5:41Speaker 7: All right, Well, Agent Beef is about three is years old. Again,
- 5:46Speaker 7: we always go by their guns and their teeth, so
- 5:49Speaker 7: it could be a roundabout. But he is neutered already,
- 5:53Speaker 7: and he was actually abandoned in a home, so I
- 5:57Speaker 7: think one of our human ousters found him and brought
- 5:59Speaker 7: him in. And he is death So he is gonna
- 6:05Speaker 7: need someone who can either has experience with a death
- 6:10Speaker 7: dog and is willing to take in another death dog,
- 6:13Speaker 7: or is looking for someone like Agent Bees, or you know,
- 6:17Speaker 7: anyone who just has the extra connotations to learn about
- 6:21Speaker 7: him and his needs and things like that would be
- 6:24Speaker 7: very much a good good home for him. He is
- 6:28Speaker 7: vaccinated in micro chips already, and he's about fifty three
- 6:32Speaker 7: ish pounds, and then he has been in a home
- 6:37Speaker 7: before and it just didn't work out with them. But
- 6:41Speaker 7: he we do know now that he absolutely loves chicken
- 6:45Speaker 7: and he is kids friendly, but of course we always
- 6:49Speaker 7: have asked caution with that. It's definitely something when bringing
- 6:53Speaker 7: in a new dog. It's kind of like bringing in
- 6:55Speaker 7: a new kid. You know, you can't just immediately start
- 6:57Speaker 7: doing everything with them. They've got to get used to
- 6:59Speaker 7: it thing, So always advised paution with kids around, no
- 7:04Speaker 7: matter how friendly the dog is. He prefers comer dogs
- 7:08Speaker 7: as friends or siblings if you if you have other
- 7:11Speaker 7: dogs already, he definitely would love to have somebody to
- 7:16Speaker 7: play with. But he does like the commer dogs. He
- 7:19Speaker 7: has a playful side, but he also has a well
- 7:22Speaker 7: you know, I'm done playing, I'm gonna lay down.
- 7:26Speaker 4: I love that. Where does the name Agent Beef come from?
- 7:31Speaker 7: I honestly let me. Whenever a dog comes in lately
- 7:35Speaker 7: to the animal shelter, where we have had absolutely so
- 7:39Speaker 7: many animals lately, it's so hard to start thinking of
- 7:44Speaker 7: repeatedly done over and over again. So we start trying
- 7:47Speaker 7: to like branch out into other things. And and I
- 7:51Speaker 7: think what happened was somebody thought of Agent p and
- 7:56Speaker 7: then just said Agent Beef because he's a beefie with
- 8:01Speaker 7: he's thicker looking.
- 8:02Speaker 4: He's a beefy looking boy. I like that. We'll have
- 8:06Speaker 4: more an Agent Beef coming up here in a couple
- 8:07Speaker 4: of moments. Hand, I do want to do a quick
- 8:09Speaker 4: review of kegs for canines. This was actually my first
- 8:12Speaker 4: time of getting to attend the event. My date was
- 8:15Speaker 4: Steve Animal of ninety eighty seven The Mountain Wild, Wonderful
- 8:19Speaker 4: classic rock. Steve and I get to go in there
- 8:20Speaker 4: and hang out a little bit. And I mean I
- 8:22Speaker 4: didn't get to stay for the entire event, as we
- 8:25Speaker 4: had to get back down to rib Fest. But in
- 8:28Speaker 4: the time that I was there, in the brief time,
- 8:31Speaker 4: we had two dogs adopted while I was there alone,
- 8:34Speaker 4: So turned out to be a pretty successful event.
- 8:38Speaker 7: Yes, I believe there was. All of the puppies that
- 8:41Speaker 7: we took except for one of them got adopted.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Oh that's awesome, that's awesome. And I actually know one
- 8:47Speaker 4: of the guys, Mark, who adopted one of the dogs,
- 8:53Speaker 4: and that's just an absolutely beautiful, beautiful dog that he adopted.
- 8:57Speaker 4: So all in all the good event.
- 8:59Speaker 7: Yes, it was great and successful. You know, we had
- 9:02Speaker 7: a lot of good success with the fundraiser portion of
- 9:05Speaker 7: it as a whole. So it was just very good
- 9:07Speaker 7: and we had a blast and we had a lot
- 9:09Speaker 7: more people than last year.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Yeah, it was and then of course the weather was great.
- 9:13Speaker 4: You know, there's so many different things going on in Charleston,
- 9:15Speaker 4: but you had the WVU pit game, which didn't turn
- 9:17Speaker 4: out the way everybody wanted it to, but we had
- 9:19Speaker 4: that on the big screen down there, so I had
- 9:21Speaker 4: soft to everybody for making that happen. Earlier this weekend
- 9:23Speaker 4: of the United Way of Central West Virginia had their
- 9:26Speaker 4: nineteenth Annual Day of Caring, and I know, just perusing
- 9:30Speaker 4: the social media there, I knew that you folks at
- 9:31Speaker 4: the shelter were the recipients of some of the free
- 9:34Speaker 4: labor as part of that, courtesy of CAMC and some
- 9:37Speaker 4: other places.
- 9:39Speaker 7: Yeah, so we were really excited to have I believe
- 9:43Speaker 7: we had around twenty ish people from CAMC Women's and Children,
- 9:47Speaker 7: and then I think we had a few from the
- 9:49Speaker 7: West Virginia Human Rights Commission and then Ashworth Heating and
- 9:52Speaker 7: Cooling also was there working on some stuff as well,
- 9:56Speaker 7: so everybody was there helping out. We had lots of
- 9:59Speaker 7: them walking down doing dog and Richmond which is making
- 10:02Speaker 7: the treats and the toys and stuff for them, and
- 10:04Speaker 7: it was very successful and we're very very thankful and
- 10:06Speaker 7: appreciative of everything they did while they were here.
- 10:09Speaker 4: It turned out to be a really really good day.
- 10:10Speaker 4: It's nine seventeen to Dave Allen showing five videy Live
- 10:13Speaker 4: brought to you in part by Jute for the best
- 10:14Speaker 4: and security systems for both your home or business. Talk
- 10:17Speaker 4: to Jute joot of tays values are protected by Jute
- 10:20Speaker 4: dot Com. You kind of alluded to how crowded you
- 10:23Speaker 4: folks have been up there, Hannah. How are the numbers
- 10:25Speaker 4: looking now?
- 10:27Speaker 7: Not too much different. We're still very very much at
- 10:31Speaker 7: mex capacity as we have been for a while. It
- 10:35Speaker 7: seems like every time we get a good chunk of
- 10:37Speaker 7: them out, we get a good chunk of them right
- 10:39Speaker 7: back in and then some, so it's definitely a work
- 10:43Speaker 7: in progress. We're just trying to get a lot of
- 10:46Speaker 7: the animals adopted and into foster homes so that way
- 10:49Speaker 7: we can be able to care for more that need
- 10:51Speaker 7: to come in. And we are doing a special until Sunday,
- 10:55Speaker 7: I believe, which is eleven dollars adoption fees for everything
- 10:59Speaker 7: in our building, so cas kittens, puppies, dogs, all of
- 11:03Speaker 7: the above, for our eleven years of life saving they
- 11:06Speaker 7: are eleven dollar adoption fees.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Wow, that's good stuff. What are you in need of there, Hannah?
- 11:12Speaker 4: What do you need right now?
- 11:14Speaker 7: Kat? Litter and peurina, dog and cat show, paper, cowls,
- 11:19Speaker 7: dom soap or any brand of dish washing liquid. Pretty
- 11:23Speaker 7: much we'll accept because we're going to use it all
- 11:27Speaker 7: So I think those are the most things that we
- 11:29Speaker 7: need right now.
- 11:30Speaker 4: All right, Hannah. As always, I appreciate you being here,
- 11:32Speaker 4: and I thank you for letting Steve Animal and I
- 11:35Speaker 4: hang out there with you last week and at Kexter
- 11:37Speaker 4: Cadinees at the Red Carpet. We'll talk again next week.
- 11:40Speaker 6: Thanks a lot, all right, Thank you, Hannah.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Gardner Again, can all charlest Ney Main association with Agent
- 11:45Speaker 4: Beef this week's Adopt me please pet of the Week.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Agent Beef is three years old, he's around fifty three pounds.
- 11:52Speaker 4: He is deaf. So before you make that decision to
- 11:54Speaker 4: adopt Agent Beef, you just need to know that never
- 11:57Speaker 4: had a well, actually I had Brielee. I think my
- 12:02Speaker 4: sister at one point when she was little, had a
- 12:04Speaker 4: deaf cat, but for some reason or another that didn't
- 12:09Speaker 4: didn't last very long. I don't know it was my
- 12:11Speaker 4: sister wasn't me, but anyway, Agent Beef is three years old.
- 12:15Speaker 4: He is around fifty three pounds. As I said, he
- 12:18Speaker 4: is deaf. He was found in an abandoned house. He
- 12:21Speaker 4: is vaccinated, he is micro chipped and newter and he
- 12:24Speaker 4: appears to be kid friendly. He does prefer caalmer dogs,
- 12:28Speaker 4: loves naps, loves to play with tennis balls, and loves
- 12:31Speaker 4: to eat chicken. So there you go. Sounds like an
- 12:35Speaker 4: all around good dog right there. So if you can
- 12:37Speaker 4: handle you know, again, take special kind and have a
- 12:39Speaker 4: deaf pet. But otherwise just a great great dog. Loves
- 12:42Speaker 4: his naps, loves a tennis ball, loves the chicken. I've
- 12:44Speaker 4: got his picture posted at Dave Island Radio on Facebook
- 12:47Speaker 4: and also at Dave A seventy on X. The artist
- 12:50Speaker 4: formally known as Twitter. So go and adopt Agent Beef.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Let's get Agent Beef in a home. Great great looking

- 17:16Speaker 4: Ohio State, and of course Steam relates. I'll come it
- 17:19Speaker 4: up with Hoppy ten oh six Metro News talk Line.
- 17:21Speaker 4: So many things going on in the area this weekend.
- 17:24Speaker 4: One of those is in Hurricane tomorrow at City Park
- 17:26Speaker 4: their annual Harvest Festival. Scott Edwards, Mayor Hurricane is with
- 17:29Speaker 4: us and joins us now Mayor, good morning, welcome to
- 17:31Speaker 4: the show.
- 17:33Speaker 6: Good morning to you, my friend. How you doing today?
- 17:35Speaker 4: Doing fine? Thank you for being here. Tomorrow, Mayor is
- 17:37Speaker 4: a big day in Hurricane in the annual Hurricane Harvest Festival.
- 17:40Speaker 4: One till six at Hurricane City Park and it's all
- 17:43Speaker 4: presented by Midway forward. What all is going on there?
- 17:45Speaker 6: Mayor oh my goodness, this is our annual annual Harvest
- 17:49Speaker 6: Festival at Hurricane City Park right in between Hurricane and
- 17:52Speaker 6: Tayese Valley X on tays Valley Road at the Hurricane
- 17:54Speaker 6: City Park. So we've got and everything's free and people
- 17:58Speaker 6: love this and it's a commune coming together and we
- 18:01Speaker 6: get people from all over our county, all over Putnam
- 18:04Speaker 6: County as well as caval Kanaal and other counties come
- 18:06Speaker 6: here for this event. But just to give you an idea,
- 18:08Speaker 6: we've got free face painting, free pumpkin sand art, free petting, zoo,
- 18:13Speaker 6: free putt putt, a bunch of free inflatables. We actually
- 18:15Speaker 6: have free uh uh inflatable axe throwing. So everybody wants
- 18:20Speaker 6: to throw an axe, right, you need to come out,
- 18:22Speaker 6: Dave and throw an.
- 18:23Speaker 4: Axe inflatable inflatable axe throwing. I mean, I don't think
- 18:27Speaker 4: even kids, well I was gonna say, I don't think
- 18:30Speaker 4: even I could cut myself on those.
- 18:32Speaker 6: You maybe so, Dave, I don't know. You might be
- 18:35Speaker 6: the one inflatable monster truck with bounce house climbing wall
- 18:39Speaker 6: and slide. That's all you too. We have a like
- 18:42Speaker 6: a under three kids section with ring toss racetrack, you know,
- 18:47Speaker 6: connect four of those type of things for the real
- 18:48Speaker 6: little ones. We got free cotton candy. You know, that's
- 18:51Speaker 6: for everybody, right, everybody loves cotton and it's all free.
- 18:54Speaker 6: And we haven't even talked to our Hurrican City Council
- 18:56Speaker 6: members into coming out like they do every year, and
- 18:58Speaker 6: they're gonna be serving free apple side to everybody. So
- 19:01Speaker 6: those are just some of the free things we will.
- 19:04Speaker 6: At three o'clock, we'll have our truest pumpkin pie eating contest.
- 19:08Speaker 6: There's still a few slots available for that, so you
- 19:10Speaker 6: can go to hurricanewv dot com slash events and register
- 19:14Speaker 6: if you want to be part of that. And from
- 19:17Speaker 6: four to six, there's a local up and coming country
- 19:21Speaker 6: music singer from right here in Putnam County. He sang
- 19:23Speaker 6: last year at one of our events. His name is
- 19:25Speaker 6: Branton Tolliver. When he sang at our event and performed,
- 19:28Speaker 6: all the people said we want him back. This young man,
- 19:32Speaker 6: I think he's maybe seventeen, eighteen, nineteen years old. He's
- 19:35Speaker 6: absolutely awesome and he's an up and coming country country
- 19:39Speaker 6: music singer, hopefully a start someday, but he'll be performing
- 19:42Speaker 6: from four to six at Hurricane City Park. And then
- 19:45Speaker 6: to add on top of everything, we have fifty plus
- 19:48Speaker 6: art and craft vendors, plus jewelry, cupcake, you know, sweet
- 19:52Speaker 6: treat vendors, all those vendors that you know. I know
- 19:55Speaker 6: my wife loves to go to that stuff and spend
- 19:57Speaker 6: lots of money on with local vendors. That's a that's
- 20:00Speaker 6: a great, great thing to happen. And then to add
- 20:03Speaker 6: to it, the Hurricane Fire Department Auxiliary. They'll be running
- 20:07Speaker 6: the main concession stand. They'll have hot dogs and walking tacos,
- 20:11Speaker 6: drinks and all that type of stuff. Plus we'll have
- 20:13Speaker 6: Chick fil A, a coffee truck and Scraggle popping it.
- 20:17Speaker 6: I don't know, David, your had straggle pop?
- 20:19Speaker 4: I have, I have.
- 20:20Speaker 6: Everybody loves straggle pops, so you can you can come
- 20:22Speaker 6: there and buy some scraggle pops. So I've said everything free,
- 20:25Speaker 6: everything but the food is free. Sure, but we will
- 20:28Speaker 6: give away five hundred hot dogs, so we will have
- 20:31Speaker 6: some free food throughout the day. So five hundred hot
- 20:33Speaker 6: dogs will be given away.
- 20:34Speaker 5: How do you do?
- 20:35Speaker 4: What's the deal with the hot dogs being given away?
- 20:37Speaker 4: How does that work?
- 20:39Speaker 6: I'll just announce it. I'll just announce next two hundred
- 20:42Speaker 6: and fifty hot dogs are free at a certain time,
- 20:43Speaker 6: and then wait a couple hours and another two hundred
- 20:46Speaker 6: and fifty are free.
- 20:47Speaker 4: So you're gonna have a hot dog stampede there mayor
- 20:50Speaker 4: we do.
- 20:51Speaker 6: We do, and it's awesome. It's awesome. And I'll tell
- 20:53Speaker 6: you mentioned presented by Midway Forward in the beginning. I
- 20:56Speaker 6: want to thank Midway Forward and if I've got just
- 20:58Speaker 6: a moment for our span.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, Actually is gonna be the next thing I
- 21:02Speaker 4: get to because these things that are all free don't
- 21:04Speaker 4: happen without sponsors. So give them, give them a.
- 21:06Speaker 6: Shout out, and I will say that today people think
- 21:09Speaker 6: where's Actually a lot of people don't realize where does
- 21:12Speaker 6: the money come from for all this free stuff in
- 21:14Speaker 6: our community? Midway Forward our annual sponsors for all of
- 21:18Speaker 6: our events, Putnam County Bank, Westria, American Water, Martin's, Peterbilt, O,
- 21:22Speaker 6: Doubt Orthodonics, Creative Pediatric Dentistry, and then some specific event sponsors.
- 21:27Speaker 6: My friend Eric Embry at Tyree Embry Pulling, Fowler, Flanning
- 21:31Speaker 6: and Brown and Poe h and R Block, Truest, Civil
- 21:34Speaker 6: and environmental consultants and Family Care. So all these people
- 21:38Speaker 6: came together with thousands and thousands of dollars so that
- 21:41Speaker 6: the community can have all this stuff for free and
- 21:43Speaker 6: have a free day. So it's it's amazing what our
- 21:47Speaker 6: community does. And then we're going to give away a
- 21:49Speaker 6: bunch of free a bunch of free event t shirts
- 21:52Speaker 6: as well, So we'd like to have a really really
- 21:55Speaker 6: good time at this event. And you know, and it's
- 21:58Speaker 6: it's one of those events where used you may see
- 22:00Speaker 6: people you haven't seen any year or two or five years,
- 22:02Speaker 6: the old high school friends, that type of thing. You
- 22:05Speaker 6: see young people bringing their young kids. It's just it's
- 22:08Speaker 6: just wonderful here in Hurricane We.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Got a text of the show here. May or somebody
- 22:12Speaker 4: wants to know what exactly is pumpkin sand art.
- 22:16Speaker 6: Pumpkin sand art is. I have no idea. I know
- 22:21Speaker 6: that I know. I'm guessing I know that sand art is.
- 22:25Speaker 6: They have those those plastic tubes and their shape. This
- 22:28Speaker 6: one's probably shaped like a pumpkin, I'm guessing. And you
- 22:31Speaker 6: pour your sand different collars of sand in and it
- 22:34Speaker 6: stacks up and then you put a cap on it.
- 22:36Speaker 6: You've got this really neat artistic thing that you've made
- 22:40Speaker 6: using different layers of different collars of sand. It's really neat.
- 22:43Speaker 6: But I don't those was the word pumpkin in I
- 22:45Speaker 6: don't know what that meant, but maybe it's pumpkin, you know,
- 22:49Speaker 6: fall collar sand. I really don't know, but that I'll
- 22:52Speaker 6: go do one and I'll message you with a picture
- 22:55Speaker 6: of it Saturday and you can you can see what
- 22:56Speaker 6: is until you tell your listeners sometimes and I'll tell
- 22:59Speaker 6: you the other thing people need to know because we
- 23:01Speaker 6: will have thousands of people show up. They should bring
- 23:04Speaker 6: their hiking shoes too. Because Hurricane the Harvest Festival it's
- 23:08Speaker 6: at Hurricane City Park, right. It's the base of Meeks
- 23:11Speaker 6: Mountain Trails, right. And I know that it's not a
- 23:14Speaker 6: Meex Mountain Trails conversation the day, but people that are
- 23:16Speaker 6: visiting here for this event, you know, we've got five
- 23:20Speaker 6: hundred acres and thirty two glorious miles of handdug trail
- 23:24Speaker 6: system literally two hundred yards away from where this Harvest
- 23:28Speaker 6: festival will be. So so the trailhead is right there.
- 23:32Speaker 6: Enjoy the harvest festival for sure for a few hours,
- 23:34Speaker 6: grab your you know, and you don't have to have
- 23:37Speaker 6: special hiking shoes. You mean, it's where your tennis shoes
- 23:39Speaker 6: and take your kids for a walk. But I urge
- 23:41Speaker 6: people take your family for a walk on Meek's Mountain
- 23:44Speaker 6: Trails during or after the event, well in the perfect time.
- 23:48Speaker 4: Right And you can see what all the hooplaws about
- 23:50Speaker 4: over the last month, because I've spent time talking about
- 23:52Speaker 4: it on the show here and that was this the
- 23:55Speaker 4: power company plan where they were going to, you know,
- 23:58Speaker 4: possibly disrupt some of Meek's Mountain Trails. I don't know
- 24:01Speaker 4: where if there's an update on that, maybe do you
- 24:03Speaker 4: have an any update on that mayor no.
- 24:05Speaker 6: Real update that the community has I knew we had
- 24:09Speaker 6: a massive community over the last five years that has
- 24:11Speaker 6: been created by Meeks Mountain Trails. Meeks Mountain Trails is
- 24:14Speaker 6: the center of Hurriek and it's the center of our
- 24:17Speaker 6: of our everything right now. And there's there's thousands and
- 24:20Speaker 6: thousands of people revolving around this and I was talked
- 24:22Speaker 6: to some folks yesterday. You know, there's there's there's businesses
- 24:26Speaker 6: that support it, restaurants that support it, and some of
- 24:28Speaker 6: those people may or may not even use the trail system.
- 24:31Speaker 6: But but this community is supportive of it. And when
- 24:34Speaker 6: it you know, when it came out that that ap
- 24:36Speaker 6: was looking to possibly you know, that was where their
- 24:40Speaker 6: lives were going to go. Uh, the community has really
- 24:43Speaker 6: risen up and and really we're all extremely hopeful that
- 24:48Speaker 6: that a different road is choosing the disruption of that
- 24:51Speaker 6: trail system. It's again I mentioned it's thirty two miles,
- 24:54Speaker 6: but it's only on five hundred acres, So I don't
- 24:57Speaker 6: know if you've probably seen the map that it's extremely dipps.
- 25:01Speaker 6: It's extremely if that's the right word to use. Thirty
- 25:05Speaker 6: two miles on five hundred acres had to be planned
- 25:07Speaker 6: out very well to get them there, so there's up
- 25:10Speaker 6: and back. It looks like a maze or spaghetti in
- 25:13Speaker 6: a way. It's not like ten thousand acres where you
- 25:15Speaker 6: have twenty miles of trails and they're all spread out.
- 25:19Speaker 6: So the lines, you know, this one hundred foot right
- 25:22Speaker 6: away and all these that would be bulldozed out and
- 25:26Speaker 6: all these lines placed across it. You know, if I
- 25:28Speaker 6: went out and just walked one of the trails. I
- 25:30Speaker 6: may have to cross this thing eight, ten, twenty times
- 25:33Speaker 6: just in one day of being out on the trail.
- 25:35Speaker 6: So that's why the community has come together and really
- 25:38Speaker 6: asking AP really to partner with AAP and let's look
- 25:41Speaker 6: at something that this is one of the biggest This
- 25:44Speaker 6: is on the radar, not just in Hurricane Putnam County,
- 25:48Speaker 6: even at the state level of one of the it's
- 25:51Speaker 6: such an awesome thing that's been placed in West Virginia.
- 25:54Speaker 6: You know, as you know our health in West Virginia,
- 25:57Speaker 6: we're usually last on the list of the country. And
- 26:00Speaker 6: this is something that's changing people's lives and letting people
- 26:04Speaker 6: live healthier lifestyle, getting outside more, living better, living longer.
- 26:10Speaker 6: Just about this trail system. So we're we're really coming together.
- 26:14Speaker 6: There's really no update right now where we're all working
- 26:17Speaker 6: with AP and and all the powers that be to
- 26:20Speaker 6: look at many alternatives and we really want to want
- 26:24Speaker 6: something different and we're really hopeful, but we really want
- 26:26Speaker 6: to partner with AP and do something and continue to
- 26:29Speaker 6: do something great together. I mean, how great is that
- 26:32Speaker 6: if they end up being our partner and now we're
- 26:34Speaker 6: doing this and this is so great for the stake
- 26:37Speaker 6: and we want to keep doing great things together and
- 26:41Speaker 6: not disrupt the Meek Mountain trails. But again I urge
- 26:43Speaker 6: families on Saturday to you tomorrow plan on not just
- 26:48Speaker 6: coming to the Harvest festival. Take a walk find me.
- 26:51Speaker 6: I'll be there at the Harvest Festival. I want to
- 26:53Speaker 6: walk with you. I'll tell you where to go. It's
- 26:54Speaker 6: it's easy, so I think it would be be wonderful.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Talking about your Scott Edwards again about the Hurricane Harvest
- 27:00Speaker 4: Festival which is happening tomorrow at Hurricane City Park. We
- 27:02Speaker 4: had a text here if somebody wanting to know whether
- 27:04Speaker 4: there be any animals there from the Putnam Shelter there tomorrow,
- 27:07Speaker 4: any plans on that.
- 27:09Speaker 6: I don't believe that the shelters bringing animals. It's not
- 27:13Speaker 6: on my list. I didn't see that, but you never know.
- 27:16Speaker 6: You never know. Maybe you will add that from the
- 27:20Speaker 6: If somebody from the shelter wants to contact me, they'll
- 27:23Speaker 6: contact me and we should make it happen.
- 27:26Speaker 4: But Dave Island Chilling five Baby Line Bright to you

- 27:45Speaker 4: before I let you go? What else is going on
- 27:47Speaker 4: in Hurricane? I like to give anytime I have a
- 27:49Speaker 4: mayor on the show, I like to give them an
- 27:51Speaker 4: opportunity to do a little cheerleading for their community. I
- 27:54Speaker 4: got to say this, I'm want to get a cheap
- 27:56Speaker 4: plug in here for the folks at Sergio's. Last night,
- 28:00Speaker 4: it was my wedding anniversary. My wife and I went
- 28:01Speaker 4: out to I let her buy me dinner last night.
- 28:04Speaker 4: We went to Sergio's ere on Main Street. Food was
- 28:07Speaker 4: absolutely fantastic. That has been a great addition to the
- 28:11Speaker 4: city of Hurricane. It's right there on Main Street. But
- 28:13Speaker 4: what else was going on in Hurricane the Scott Mayor
- 28:14Speaker 4: Scott Edwards excited these days.
- 28:17Speaker 6: You know, I'll tell you our Hurricane Bridge Park has
- 28:19Speaker 6: me really excited. You know. We had our grand opening
- 28:21Speaker 6: this year of our four extremely high end baseball softball
- 28:26Speaker 6: fields and we kind of soft opening this summer, we
- 28:29Speaker 6: had eight or nine tournaments. Kids came in from many, many,
- 28:34Speaker 6: many states, all come from all over and that has
- 28:37Speaker 6: opened up our community that we're showing off our community.
- 28:40Speaker 6: We're showing off our main street. We're filling up our hotels,
- 28:44Speaker 6: not just in Hurricane but in Tays Valley and all around.
- 28:47Speaker 6: You know, when these teams come in, they'll bring fifty
- 28:50Speaker 6: sixty teams in from six or seven states and spend
- 28:53Speaker 6: two three days, and lots of money, I mean lots
- 28:57Speaker 6: of money flows into the city and Indeputtl'm and I'm
- 29:00Speaker 6: excited about that because it again, it doesn't just get
- 29:03Speaker 6: boys and girls playing baseball and softball, but it you know,
- 29:07Speaker 6: it's economic development for the city. And then the disc
- 29:10Speaker 6: golf course. You know, our disc golf course at Hurricane
- 29:13Speaker 6: Bridge Park and the one at Valley Park. I'm guessing
- 29:16Speaker 6: they're probably vne all the time for the number one
- 29:18Speaker 6: disc golf course in the state. And I hope it's
- 29:20Speaker 6: always number one, number two, number one, number two. I
- 29:22Speaker 6: don't care which one is number one or two, but
- 29:25Speaker 6: we have two of the best disc golf courses in
- 29:28Speaker 6: the whole state. While you're a Hurricane and we have many,
- 29:32Speaker 6: many events planned next year for that as well. So
- 29:35Speaker 6: you know, we had our Hurricane hundred k on again.
- 29:37Speaker 6: I rang up Meeks Mountain Trail. I was at that
- 29:39Speaker 6: event and looking forward twelve months from now to the
- 29:43Speaker 6: next Hurricane hundred K. I mean, who runs one hundred
- 29:45Speaker 6: k in the woods? Now, There's no chance I'm doing it.
- 29:50Speaker 6: But I was there when they kicked it off at
- 29:52Speaker 6: six am. But I'm already looking forward to next years
- 29:56Speaker 6: seeing how many hundreds of people from all over the country.
- 30:00Speaker 6: I absolutely love. And again you ask what gets me excited.
- 30:03Speaker 6: I love when people come here from all these states.
- 30:05Speaker 6: We're getting visitors from all over the country to Meex
- 30:08Speaker 6: Mountain trails and to our baseball fields and to other
- 30:12Speaker 6: things in Hurricane I love talking to those folks. They
- 30:16Speaker 6: love Hurricane and Putnam County. They say it all the time.
- 30:20Speaker 6: We actually have I was talking with some folks a
- 30:22Speaker 6: couple of days ago. We I think it's sixteen families
- 30:26Speaker 6: have moved here in the last two years due to
- 30:29Speaker 6: what we have in hurricanes, specifically Meex Mountain trails. So
- 30:32Speaker 6: those they get me excited. You know, I'm really excited,
- 30:37Speaker 6: and I'm excited about what's next to come? You know,
- 30:39Speaker 6: we have a one year, three year, five year plan
- 30:41Speaker 6: of different things. And and yes, people ask me all
- 30:46Speaker 6: the time, restaurants one or more restaurants. We have a
- 30:48Speaker 6: ton of restaurants now, but people don't maybe we don't
- 30:50Speaker 6: know about don't think about it.
- 30:51Speaker 4: A ton of great restaurants.
- 30:54Speaker 6: You know, you mentioned Sergio's. We have doll Napple on
- 30:56Speaker 6: main Street. You know we we have main Street Cream.
- 31:00Speaker 6: Those are just three on main Street plus all the
- 31:02Speaker 6: others that are around, you know, just Hurricane Tage Valley.
- 31:05Speaker 6: I mean, you go over to Winfield and there's restaurants there.
- 31:08Speaker 6: So a lot of people don't realize unless they're within
- 31:10Speaker 6: two miles of their home, you know, drive five or
- 31:14Speaker 6: ten minutes and there's a lot of restaurants. But I
- 31:17Speaker 6: will tell you there's more to come soon. I can't
- 31:20Speaker 6: mention anything. Okay, you're not well, pride out of me,
- 31:22Speaker 6: all right?
- 31:23Speaker 4: Not we got to go anyway, But I know that
- 31:26Speaker 4: when the time is right, you'll you'll give me a
- 31:29Speaker 4: buzz and we'll get you on the show.
- 31:31Speaker 11: Dave.
- 31:31Speaker 4: I will give you a buzz, all right, Mayor. I
- 31:33Speaker 4: appreciate we got to go. We'll see you tomorrow, man.
- 31:35Speaker 4: I appreciate you being here. Thanks a lot.
- 31:37Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, sir. Making a great day all right.
- 31:39Speaker 4: Mayor Scott Edwards of Hurricane again the annual Harvest Festival,
- 31:42Speaker 4: presented by Midway Forward and a host of other great
- 31:44Speaker 4: businesses making it all possible too. I've got info posted
- 31:47Speaker 4: about it on my social media. Check it out. Mayor
- 31:49Speaker 4: Edwards does a fantastic matter of fact, that a text
- 31:52Speaker 4: here that said this guy talking about Mayor Scott Edwards
- 31:54Speaker 4: is a great mayor. He does such a good job.
- 31:56Speaker 4: Well indeed, I'm sure the Mayor will be happy to
- 31:59Speaker 4: hear that. But the event is tomorrow. The Annual Harvest Festival,
- 32:02Speaker 4: happening in Hurricane and Hurricane City Park, starts at one
- 32:04Speaker 4: o'clock tomorrow. In the heart of West Virginia, there exists
- 32:07Speaker 4: a profound force that goes beyond the realm of sports,
- 32:10Speaker 4: transcending limitations, fostering a sense of belonging. Special Olympics, a
- 32:14Speaker 4: remarkable initiative showcased in the latest episode of West Virginia
- 32:17Speaker 4: Enriched in collaboration with Huntington, stands at a testament to
- 32:21Speaker 4: the power of determination, unity and unwavering support. See a

- 37:27Speaker 4: talking about Leah's legacy. It's a five k run and
- 37:29Speaker 4: two mile walk and kids fun run happening Sunday at

- 37:44Speaker 4: and Sarah, thank you for being here as well.
- 37:45Speaker 14: Thank you.
- 37:47Speaker 4: Tell us Michael starts with you. Tell us the story
- 37:49Speaker 4: of Leah.
- 37:50Speaker 11: So Les Dreckland.
- 37:51Speaker 15: You know she was a avid athlete at Herbert Hoover
- 37:54Speaker 15: High School.
- 37:55Speaker 11: Two years ago we were playing I was coach. I
- 37:59Speaker 11: coached Locker Hebert who ever, he's a soccer player.
- 38:01Speaker 15: So we were coming home from the Braxton County soccer game,
- 38:04Speaker 15: and we lost her in a car accident. So throughout
- 38:08Speaker 15: all that we decided to create a scholarship to memorialize her.
- 38:14Speaker 15: So through that we needed to raise fund, so we
- 38:16Speaker 15: created the Lea's Legacy five K Walk to My Run,
- 38:21Speaker 15: to My five k Run to My Walk, GRAF Kids
- 38:24Speaker 15: Fun Run, and so just to kind of help raise
- 38:26Speaker 15: money celebrate Lis.
- 38:27Speaker 2: She was.
- 38:28Speaker 11: She loved running.
- 38:29Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, Sarah Fletcher's with Now, you're the director of this,
- 38:33Speaker 4: is that right? As far as the right.
- 38:34Speaker 14: Well, I'm on the race committee.
- 38:36Speaker 4: Okay, well just yes, did you get a whistle and
- 38:40Speaker 4: a clip board? That's what that's what that means? What's
- 38:42Speaker 4: what's your rolling all this?
- 38:43Speaker 14: Well, I'm I'm the runner in the crew, So I
- 38:46Speaker 14: helped them mark the course and get things ready and
- 38:49Speaker 14: you know, come up with all the needs that the
- 38:51Speaker 14: runners may have during the race.
- 38:53Speaker 4: And this event is going to be Sunday. Everything starts
- 38:56Speaker 4: at Slight Plaza. But if you are not a runner,
- 39:00Speaker 4: not but you can still stop by because you got
- 39:03Speaker 4: a lot more going on just besides the physical exertion,
- 39:05Speaker 4: You've got a lot of other stuff going on there too.
- 39:07Speaker 7: Right.
- 39:07Speaker 15: Absolutely, we have live entertainment from the New Old Souls.
- 39:11Speaker 11: They're gonna be playing music.
- 39:12Speaker 15: We have food trucks, adult beverages, non alcoholic beverages, just
- 39:18Speaker 15: a little bit and just everything in the slack Claws.
- 39:19Speaker 11: It'll be been. It'll be nice.
- 39:22Speaker 4: So somebody's going to tell you, hey, do you know
- 39:25Speaker 4: you're on the radio.
- 39:26Speaker 11: So but yes, it'll be we do.
- 39:28Speaker 15: If you don't have to run, you don't even have
- 39:29Speaker 15: to be you know walker, just come down and hang out, celebrate.
- 39:32Speaker 15: That's what we wanted. Phil Slyck Claza and it's all Sunday,
- 39:36Speaker 15: starts at five five o'clock.
- 39:37Speaker 11: Five round.
- 39:38Speaker 4: And how many years have you been doing this?
- 39:39Speaker 11: This is the second se year because I.
- 39:40Speaker 4: Had join last year for the first year, well give
- 39:43Speaker 4: us a review of last year.
- 39:44Speaker 15: I was sure was phenomenal. We had over five hundred participants. Wow,
- 39:48Speaker 15: first year of a five k you need a race,
- 39:51Speaker 15: so it was absolutely phenomenal. The weather wasn't ideal, but
- 39:55Speaker 15: we still had you know, so this year we're expecting
- 39:58Speaker 15: six to seven hundred.
- 39:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm I mean the weather is going to be hot. Yeah,
- 40:02Speaker 4: so definitely make sure you hydrate. But as far as
- 40:05Speaker 4: the ring goes, I think we should be.
- 40:06Speaker 11: Pretty good ship.
- 40:07Speaker 15: But it's actually turned out to be an extremely successful
- 40:12Speaker 15: event for us and it's it's awesome.
- 40:14Speaker 4: But Dave Alan showing five eighty livee presented the part
- 40:17Speaker 4: by General Hardware of Windfield and Milton and General Lumber
- 40:19Speaker 4: of Winfield. All projects big and small, they can handle it.
- 40:22Speaker 4: Shop locally, visit General Hardware WV dot com. Talk about
- 40:24Speaker 4: the support of the community and all this and not
- 40:28Speaker 4: just sponsored but I mean just the community in general.
- 40:30Speaker 15: The community. I mean without the community, I'm not sure
- 40:32Speaker 15: where I'd be. It's been really it's it's been great
- 40:36Speaker 15: having the elk Rover and the Canal Valley. You know
- 40:38Speaker 15: that everybody comes out and anything we need the support
- 40:41Speaker 15: it it helps a lot. Every day it's a roller
- 40:44Speaker 15: coaster ride. So you know, you see people been able
- 40:47Speaker 15: to talk about Lee and most people know Lea now
- 40:49Speaker 15: throughout all this and so it helps it at least,
- 40:52Speaker 15: you know, it just kind of eases the pain and
- 40:54Speaker 15: allows me to talk about Lea more.
- 40:57Speaker 4: For those who did not know Leah tell us about
- 41:00Speaker 4: Lee of the person.
- 41:01Speaker 15: Lea was a very exceptional you know, she was energetic,
- 41:05Speaker 15: always had a smile, very athletic, involved in the community,
- 41:09Speaker 15: she played bells in the church choir, she sang in
- 41:13Speaker 15: the church choir.
- 41:14Speaker 11: She was involved.
- 41:15Speaker 15: In so many activities community service. You know, she had
- 41:19Speaker 15: one hundred and fifty hours community service three weeks and
- 41:22Speaker 15: her ninth grade year.
- 41:25Speaker 4: It's amazing. So because a lot of kids and you know,
- 41:27Speaker 4: community services required to graduate to West Virginia, a lot
- 41:30Speaker 4: of kids are that final two weeks before they graduate
- 41:33Speaker 4: trying to cram everything in. She did it all in
- 41:35Speaker 4: the first twenty minutes or so.
- 41:38Speaker 11: Absolutely, she would have been in four sports.
- 41:41Speaker 15: She would have been try across country, swimming, soccer. So
- 41:44Speaker 15: like you know, with the scholarship that we give is
- 41:47Speaker 15: based on community service, based on you know, an athletic,
- 41:50Speaker 15: you know, been able to manage your schoolwork with your
- 41:53Speaker 15: community service and been an active athlete. So it's a
- 41:57Speaker 15: and we gave out to Scott the first year, we
- 42:00Speaker 15: give out one scholarship for twenty five hundred dollars. This
- 42:02Speaker 15: past year we gave out two scholarships of twenty five
- 42:05Speaker 15: hundred dollars. So we give out a male and a
- 42:07Speaker 15: female now and the goal is to move it into
- 42:10Speaker 15: the Canal Valley as we get some more funds built
- 42:13Speaker 15: up and.
- 42:14Speaker 4: For people that don't know about the routes, explain that
- 42:16Speaker 4: to us. I know you're part of that, Sarah, so
- 42:17Speaker 4: explain that to us.
- 42:18Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 42:19Speaker 14: So the race starts in Slack Plaza and moves through Brawley,
- 42:23Speaker 14: and then they're going to take a right on Capitol Street,
- 42:26Speaker 14: head all the way out to Canal Boulevard, take a
- 42:28Speaker 14: left on Canal Boulevard, and then they'll go an out
- 42:32Speaker 14: and back on Canal Boulevard, and then they'll come back
- 42:35Speaker 14: the same way. They'll come back down Capitol Street and
- 42:38Speaker 14: through Brawley and finish in Slack Plaza, and the walk
- 42:41Speaker 14: kind of follows the same course, obviously their turnarounds a
- 42:44Speaker 14: little shorter.
- 42:45Speaker 4: And then stick around either during or after because you're
- 42:48Speaker 4: gonna have a big old party with music and food,
- 42:50Speaker 4: trucks and everything. And again, if you're not in the
- 42:54Speaker 4: in a place where you can come and take part
- 42:56Speaker 4: in this as far as running or walking or whatever,
- 42:58Speaker 4: you can stop, buy, you can make a donation or
- 42:59Speaker 4: just come check it all out and find out what
- 43:01Speaker 4: it's all about.
- 43:02Speaker 11: Absolutely, that's really I mean.
- 43:04Speaker 15: I do want to promote I want people to get registered,
- 43:06Speaker 15: but I also but if you just want to come down,
- 43:07Speaker 15: bring a charry, listen to music, and just enjoy the atmosphere.
- 43:10Speaker 15: We would love to fill slack laws, you know, just
- 43:12Speaker 15: make it a great environment.
- 43:14Speaker 14: We are expecting a huge crowd, so we had one
- 43:18Speaker 14: hundred people register on race Day, so we really wanted
- 43:21Speaker 14: to stress that we're doing a pack up pickup at
- 43:23Speaker 14: Short Story Brewing on Saturday evening from five to eight.
- 43:27Speaker 14: People can also register at that time if they miss
- 43:30Speaker 14: the online registration. We'll have race day registration from three
- 43:34Speaker 14: to four thirty at Slack Plaza and that's also pack
- 43:37Speaker 14: up pick up. But we also have four hundred and
- 43:40Speaker 14: fifty people registered already. We're expecting more than that, so
- 43:44Speaker 14: if you want to avoid the crowds, come pick up
- 43:47Speaker 14: your packet on Saturday at Short Story.
- 43:49Speaker 4: Where can people learn more about this, guys? What's the

- 47:25Speaker 4: remember the seventeen West Virginia Vietnam War veterans and missing
- 47:28Speaker 4: in Vietnam, Cambodi, and Lyles, plus the hundreds more mia
- 47:32Speaker 4: from Korean War and World War One and World War Two.
- 47:35Speaker 4: Excellent point. Thank you Texter for bringing that out. Getting
- 47:39Speaker 4: serious Now for your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty
- 47:41Speaker 4: Birds playoff series now stands at one win apiece first
- 47:44Speaker 4: two games Tuesday night Wednesday night at Gomart Ballpark this
- 47:47Speaker 4: past week. The Birds took Game one in dramatic fashion
- 47:50Speaker 4: on a hit batter at the bottom of the twelfth
- 47:52Speaker 4: Wednesday Night. That one went to Gastonia. They were off
- 47:55Speaker 4: last night. The series picks back up tonight at Gastonias
- 47:57Speaker 4: seven o'clock best of five. Jill Garret under the Dirty
- 48:00Speaker 4: Birds for the third time this week is in the studio.
- 48:03Speaker 4: Thank We're gonna change it from the part Marster studio
- 48:05Speaker 4: to the Jill garen Studio.
- 48:06Speaker 16: I'll take it. I appreciate.
- 48:07Speaker 4: But you're on the road though, I mean you're heading
- 48:09Speaker 4: down there right yep, yep.
- 48:09Speaker 16: We're gonna leave right around twelve. Over half of our
- 48:12Speaker 16: front office staff is going to support the boys. A
- 48:14Speaker 16: lot of the season ticket holders are going to so
- 48:16Speaker 16: we're excited to show up in Gastonia.
- 48:18Speaker 4: So the series now tied at one apiece. As as
- 48:20Speaker 4: we said, Game three at the best of five tonight
- 48:22Speaker 4: at Gastonia, and we have some information about starters and
- 48:25Speaker 4: things of that nature we can put out there right officially.
- 48:27Speaker 16: David Lebron is our starting pitcher tonight. For those of
- 48:30Speaker 16: you who don't remember, he was the one that won
- 48:33Speaker 16: the ballgame when we clinched in Gastonia just a week
- 48:36Speaker 16: ago from today. He had eight scoreless innings, only gave
- 48:40Speaker 16: up one hit one walk to end the day. He
- 48:42Speaker 16: retired eighteen batters in a row. He got some sleep
- 48:46Speaker 16: last night I checked in on him. We're good, he's
- 48:48Speaker 16: ready to go.
- 48:49Speaker 4: And what about for them?
- 48:50Speaker 16: For them, it's gonna be oh gosh, I'm blank on
- 48:52Speaker 16: his first name. The last name is Wes Scott. We
- 48:54Speaker 16: don't care anyways, exactly, it doesn't matter we're gonna hit him.
- 48:56Speaker 16: It doesn't matter the victim.
- 48:57Speaker 4: We'll just caught him the victim exactly. But this Gastonia team,
- 49:01Speaker 4: as we said when you were on earlier, I mean
- 49:03Speaker 4: we've played them, what seven eight times in a row?
- 49:05Speaker 16: Now, yep, yeah, so we've played them eight games in
- 49:08Speaker 16: a row. If we go a five game series, it'll
- 49:10Speaker 16: be eleven games in a row. So we we know
- 49:13Speaker 16: each other really well, which some people think that's a
- 49:15Speaker 16: bad thing. If you're a hitter, that's a great thing.
- 49:18Speaker 16: You've seen every single one of their pitchers, so there's
- 49:21Speaker 16: no surprises.
- 49:22Speaker 4: And remind folks where they can catch the game right.
- 49:24Speaker 16: So every single game home in a way is broadcasted
- 49:27Speaker 16: on Flow Baseball. I'm gonna be going as a fan,
- 49:29Speaker 16: so you won't be able to listen to my fantastic voice,
- 49:32Speaker 16: but you can listen to Noah. He's a great broadcaster
- 49:35Speaker 16: for them, and hopefully you'll see some dirty birds fans
- 49:38Speaker 16: there too.
- 49:38Speaker 4: So you're gonna see the Gastonia or you're gonna hear
- 49:41Speaker 4: I guess the gastoniably about playing out ture. Okay, all right,
- 49:44Speaker 4: but not you. But you're you're just there as a
- 49:45Speaker 4: fan and.
- 49:45Speaker 16: A wife in a way, Yes, fan and wife.
- 49:48Speaker 4: This is your first game, is a I mean on
- 49:49Speaker 4: the road is a wife?
- 49:50Speaker 16: I yeah, it's weird, It's gonna be interesting, It'll be fun.
- 49:53Speaker 16: He told me to compose myself because I'm a former athlete,
- 49:56Speaker 16: so I get really into it as well. And sure,
- 49:59Speaker 16: you know there's I This team has been great. They've
- 50:01Speaker 16: been amazing as far as a co workers out in
- 50:04Speaker 16: the community. They're always up to go out in the
- 50:06Speaker 16: community and support Charleston and West Virginia. So I care
- 50:09Speaker 16: about this team a lot.
- 50:10Speaker 4: So you said the game. The bus is going to
- 50:12Speaker 4: pull out around noon? Is that what you said?
- 50:14Speaker 6: Right?
- 50:14Speaker 4: So here's here's a wild idea if if people are
- 50:18Speaker 4: in the area, and I don't want to cause a
- 50:20Speaker 4: traffic jam or anything like that, because Mayor Goodwin's office
- 50:22Speaker 4: wouldn't like that if I did that. But I will
- 50:25Speaker 4: say this, if you've got some time around lunch if
- 50:27Speaker 4: you want to head over to the ballpark and just
- 50:29Speaker 4: kind of cheer, you know, cheer on the team. Is
- 50:30Speaker 4: that something we could we could do?
- 50:31Speaker 16: So the team's actually already there, So it's the front office,
- 50:34Speaker 16: I believe in Well, nobody.
- 50:36Speaker 4: Cares about the front of the to me, if you want,
- 50:39Speaker 4: you can go punch ja Silverman in the mouth if
- 50:41Speaker 4: you have that's that.
- 50:41Speaker 11: That's what.
- 50:42Speaker 4: Okay, So the team's already there.
- 50:43Speaker 16: Teams there. Yeah, so that's what I wondered.
- 50:45Speaker 4: About that because that would have been you know, on
- 50:47Speaker 4: that bus trip down there, that would that would get
- 50:49Speaker 4: them there. You know, we're almost time for the game,
- 50:50Speaker 4: almost exactly.
- 50:51Speaker 16: So they left Thursday both series Thursday as a travel day.
- 50:55Speaker 16: So if we're in the Championship Series next week and
- 50:58Speaker 16: you want to see them off, he can come by Thursday.
- 51:01Speaker 6: Right, ok?
- 51:01Speaker 4: All right, And now again we do want to remind
- 51:03Speaker 4: people that this is the best of five series, Jill,
- 51:06Speaker 4: and it's tied at one apiece right now, so you're
- 51:08Speaker 4: playing Gastoni. Again. We don't want to jinx, we don't
- 51:11Speaker 4: do any of that kind of stuff, but if you
- 51:13Speaker 4: should happen to pull this out, we're talking about championship baseball,
- 51:16Speaker 4: possibly for.
- 51:17Speaker 16: The Dirty Birds has not. We have not won a
- 51:20Speaker 16: league championship since we were the Wheelers back in nineteen ninety.
- 51:23Speaker 16: I was not alive the last time that the Dirty
- 51:26Speaker 16: Herds or the Charleston team want a championship.
- 51:28Speaker 4: Have gone all day and not said that. But I
- 51:31Speaker 4: think Dale Cooper, the boss around here. I think Dale
- 51:33Speaker 4: might have been working there, really, I think, cause I
- 51:35Speaker 4: think he worked there for a.
- 51:36Speaker 16: One interesting if he has a championship ring left his
- 51:38Speaker 16: tea first.
- 51:39Speaker 4: Well, he was probably still in I'm trying to do
- 51:41Speaker 4: the math. He's probably still in high school there, but
- 51:42Speaker 4: he was probably at the game. Say I'll say that
- 51:45Speaker 4: not even born in nineteen ninety. Thank you, Jill. I
- 51:47Speaker 4: was in college in nineteen ninety. I appreciate you pointing
- 51:50Speaker 4: that out, all right, So again, remind people where they
- 51:52Speaker 4: can watch the game.
- 51:53Speaker 16: You can watch the game on a flow baseball. We
- 51:55Speaker 16: need to win two of the next three games. First
- 51:57Speaker 16: pitch today is seven, tomorrow seven and if Sunday is
- 52:00Speaker 16: two o'clock.
- 52:01Speaker 4: And we'll be keeping a close eye on it. Jill's
- 52:03Speaker 4: always I appreciate you being here. Hopefully we'll talk to
- 52:04Speaker 4: you next week hopefully, so as we get ready for it.
- 52:07Speaker 4: Don't want to get ahead of ourselves, so we got
- 52:09Speaker 4: to get through this series first. Joe Garrett from the
- 52:11Speaker 4: Dirty Birds Somebody's just sent of Texas. Had the great
- 52:13Speaker 4: days at wat Powell Park. Yep, yeah, indeed, all right,
- 52:16Speaker 4: we gotta go to Day Islands showing five Any Live
