- 0:53Speaker 1: out there and listening.
- 0:54Speaker 8: Lang.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Glad to be here with you today. It is Monday,
- 0:58Speaker 1: and we are moving so we could wait from Memorial
- 1:02Speaker 1: Day party all the time, Summer is getting near, weather,
- 1:08Speaker 1: it's getting warm, and the NBA Finals is getting closer,
- 1:14Speaker 1: down to four teams. I know it takes so long,
- 1:17Speaker 1: don't it. This thing started Halloween and we're still out
- 1:22Speaker 1: here a trick or treating in May. But it's finally
- 1:26Speaker 1: set tonight, Game one Western Finals, the Spurs and the Thunder.
- 1:33Speaker 1: We'll talk about that matchup and how we got two
- 1:38Speaker 1: MVP candidates in there, and the foreign invasion has happened.
- 1:44Speaker 3: In the NBA Top three guys in the MVP voting,
- 1:50Speaker 3: and it's been that way a while.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I spent about eight.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Minutes trying to figure out when the last time we
- 1:57Speaker 3: had an American born MVP, and Okamanchi.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Greg has ants he keeps these kind of facts in
- 2:06Speaker 1: his head. Yeah, I know that's I'm saying, you keep
- 2:10Speaker 1: these kind of facts. But once again the MVP in
- 2:14Speaker 1: the NBA going international this year and then on the
- 2:21Speaker 1: other side, starting tomorrow. After Game seven win last night
- 2:27Speaker 1: by the Calves, who needs Lebron, James says, the Calves
- 2:32Speaker 1: taking down Detroit and now moving on to the Knicks.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Nick's having about ten days, nine ten days since they
- 2:43Speaker 1: last played the basketball game. The rest, I'm quite sure
- 2:49Speaker 1: felt great. But can you get in motion quick enough?
- 2:55Speaker 1: The Calves, Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, Jared Allen ready to
- 3:02Speaker 1: go tomorrow night Eastern Finals, So we're getting closer. I
- 3:07Speaker 1: think the finals were set. Remember they said it they
- 3:09Speaker 1: there was a long time, it didn't set. They just
- 3:12Speaker 1: waited to the finally the conferences were over and then
- 3:16Speaker 1: they would pick it up. Now I think it's set
- 3:18Speaker 1: for June third, so you kind of know when it's
- 3:21Speaker 1: going regardless of how long the series go. June third
- 3:25Speaker 1: is when the NBA Finals start. But my cast is
- 3:30Speaker 1: here today, command Sie Gregg and Big Kenny the funny
- 3:34Speaker 1: man himself. And you know what, because that was the
- 3:38Speaker 1: best part. And I've been trying to figure out how
- 3:41Speaker 1: to introduce you guys the run to Ralsey Toronto fight.
- 3:49Speaker 1: The best part was the introduction. That's the only part
- 3:54Speaker 1: was Big I think I think the guy name was
- 3:58Speaker 1: Big John uh. And when you looked at him in
- 4:02Speaker 1: the ring, he looked like he was six seven at
- 4:04Speaker 1: least next to the ring ladies. And it was the icon,
- 4:13Speaker 1: the spirit leader, the undeniable. He was just running through.
- 4:18Speaker 1: He was putting on that. He was putting on that
- 4:21Speaker 1: that real bravado. And he had me back in the
- 4:26Speaker 1: tunnel with the smoke. I was like, man, we need
- 4:29Speaker 1: to get this going. He was giving it to it.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Rowdy runner. You don't want smoke run And I was like, okay, man,
- 4:42Speaker 1: this is these are the chill.
- 4:44Speaker 3: And you were waiting for the by the Battle Royale
- 4:48Speaker 3: And what did you get? Uh pick damn boom tap?
- 4:57Speaker 3: That was it a quick like a oh, Mike Tyson
- 5:01Speaker 3: seventeen seconds. Listen now, because I'm actually surprised that YouTube
- 5:07Speaker 3: gentlemen actually watched it.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I didn't.
- 5:08Speaker 3: I forgot it actually was happening. I watched it on Instagram,
- 5:12Speaker 3: and I didn't watch the whole thing, the whole it
- 5:15Speaker 3: was seventeen seventeen seconds.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I didn't watch Qualify. I watched the next day and
- 5:21Speaker 1: I fast forward to like five minutes.
- 5:23Speaker 3: No, I'm saying, but to have it monetized, I think
- 5:26Speaker 3: it has to be at least twenty.
- 5:27Speaker 9: Well, it was somebody like sitting probably in like the
- 5:31Speaker 9: maybe the second level, but the zoom.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Did you ever see the whole thing? But it was
- 5:35Speaker 1: seventeen seconds.
- 5:36Speaker 3: In comedy we call that not being able to follow
- 5:38Speaker 3: your intro, Like the intro is so high, oh that
- 5:41Speaker 3: the audience is ready for, Oh this is and you
- 5:45Speaker 3: knock knock it.
- 5:46Speaker 1: From Venice, California, Ladies and gentlemen, five six weigh in.
- 5:53Speaker 1: That didn't even one hundred and forty two pounds. She
- 6:00Speaker 1: revolutionize the sport.
- 6:03Speaker 3: They gave a bio every international fenom, the lady who
- 6:11Speaker 3: built that's twenty two seconds right there.
- 6:17Speaker 1: The UFC champion, former lightweight division champion, the icon, the
- 6:27Speaker 1: International movie Superstar.
- 6:31Speaker 3: International movie Superstar. He was given it all. I'm telling
- 6:35Speaker 3: you this, and the fight was nowhere near. Who won
- 6:39Speaker 3: in the blue corner?
- 6:40Speaker 1: Who did they? Standing at five eight wing in at
- 6:43Speaker 1: one hundred and forty one and one pounds. The originator,
- 6:50Speaker 1: I mean he could the emancipated the death of two fitness.
- 6:54Speaker 1: He went, he went don king on him the fifts.
- 6:58Speaker 1: He was giving it to him. And I was sitting there,
- 7:00Speaker 1: like people just don't understand. When you're standing back there
- 7:03Speaker 1: and they give you this kind of you start having
- 7:06Speaker 1: that out of body, this out of body thing that
- 7:09Speaker 1: starts happening to you, and it takes you back to
- 7:14Speaker 1: when when the Bible speaks of you shouldn't be celebrated
- 7:19Speaker 1: like that because you start feeling yourself, yeah, and you
- 7:22Speaker 1: become this person It's like, who is he talking about?
- 7:25Speaker 1: And then you because especially.
- 7:27Speaker 3: For a lot of times, I have a pretty bad dude,
- 7:29Speaker 3: you know what, thank coming. I'm cold, bro, I'm saying
- 7:35Speaker 3: I didn't do that. I did do that. He's still
- 7:39Speaker 3: he's still rattling off stuff. You like, I forgot when
- 7:42Speaker 3: I did that and when it happened, and the only
- 7:46Speaker 3: thing I'm I'm teetering between and I saw it and replay.
- 7:53Speaker 1: That's the only way, because it was a three three
- 7:58Speaker 1: hour and some I mean the total thing totality, and
- 8:02Speaker 1: I went there were there were other fights, yeah, and
- 8:05Speaker 1: and it was just something I had conspiracy because of
- 8:10Speaker 1: these two young ladies, two women who have taken their careers,
- 8:19Speaker 1: their ability to take their UFC MMA and become action
- 8:24Speaker 1: stars and playing action movies. So I couldn't greg command
- 8:30Speaker 1: Gie and Big Kenny. I couldn't decipher between their ability
- 8:35Speaker 1: to act and their ability to actually be performing. Thank
- 8:43Speaker 1: you Sports Jooh it was hard command. It was I
- 8:47Speaker 1: was just I was the segue I was hoping for
- 8:50Speaker 1: was do you think that now these types of fights
- 8:54Speaker 1: will contractually have to have some sort of minimum time
- 9:00Speaker 1: or minimum about distance for them to qualify as payouts,
- 9:05Speaker 1: because at this point, seventeen seconds, I'll get in there
- 9:10Speaker 1: and you you can hit me legitimately hard one time
- 9:15Speaker 1: in the side, and I'm gonna go down and then
- 9:19Speaker 1: let me get my eighteen million dollars. Well, in this case,
- 9:22Speaker 1: and this is the part where it gets confusing. Ronda
- 9:27Speaker 1: Ralsey in her career, had fourteen fights. She was twelve
- 9:32Speaker 1: and two. Eight of her twelve victory did come less
- 9:38Speaker 1: than a minute. So this is Hermoh, that's all we need,
- 9:45Speaker 1: That's all we need.
- 9:46Speaker 9: But it was it to be longer because Gina Carno
- 9:50Speaker 9: is also a champion.
- 9:52Speaker 1: So but Coronto hasn't.
- 9:54Speaker 3: But she hasn't had thought in sixteen years, I think
- 9:58Speaker 3: they said.
- 9:59Speaker 1: And this is why saying Thursday when I was saying,
- 10:03Speaker 1: it's one thing to be an older person, and it's
- 10:06Speaker 1: one thing to be older and inactive. It's one thing
- 10:11Speaker 1: to you know, continue to have been around. But it's
- 10:17Speaker 1: one thing to my last fight. I was twenty eight
- 10:21Speaker 1: and now I'm forty four. Okay, and say they were
- 10:24Speaker 1: running rhumda hadn't had a fight in ten years. Well
- 10:27Speaker 1: see this is what Okay, So here we go. We're
- 10:30Speaker 1: gonna play a one on one football game. You've retired
- 10:34Speaker 1: from the NFL, what fifteen years ago? Yes, I retired
- 10:38Speaker 1: from the NFL never because I never played in the NFL.
- 10:41Speaker 1: And I come to you and look, sports jock, we're
- 10:43Speaker 1: gonna pay per view it. And if you can sack me,
- 10:47Speaker 1: then the game is over. And my first snap I
- 10:52Speaker 1: dropped back. You get to sack.
- 10:55Speaker 3: I appreciate the one hundred thousand dollars you paid me
- 10:58Speaker 3: for participating, We get the TV rights and we all
- 11:01Speaker 3: go home and I'm man, my my elbow if it
- 11:04Speaker 3: hadn't been from my elbow. I don't these seem like
- 11:07Speaker 3: take the money and run events.
- 11:10Speaker 1: We're just and we'll come back the spectacle. Are we
- 11:16Speaker 1: as we as fans of sports, we as fans of entertainment?
- 11:22Speaker 1: We are more about the explosions and the dance routines
- 11:30Speaker 1: than we are the voice? Now are we are we
- 11:33Speaker 1: fan doing this? Are we uh mg? Embedding on this?
- 11:39Speaker 1: Do we have?
- 11:39Speaker 3: I'm sure they had something.
- 11:42Speaker 1: We'll be back. Don't go away.
- 12:00Speaker 10: More of the Sports Jock Show with Wayne Dantudios coming.
- 12:03Speaker 7: Up next, are gonna go wat.

- 13:04Speaker 13: Talking about guns with others might not always feel comfortable,
- 13:07Speaker 13: but it could save a life. Here's a way to
- 13:09Speaker 13: start a conversation. Your family is going over to your
- 13:12Speaker 13: neighbor's home for dinner for the first time. How would
- 13:15Speaker 13: you ask if there are any unlocked guns in the home.
- 13:17Speaker 14: Hey, hey, we're so excited for tonight. Before we come over, though,
- 13:21Speaker 14: may ask if there are any unlocked guns in your home.

- 14:21Speaker 1: on the Sports.

- 14:28Speaker 2: to the next level.
- 14:37Speaker 7: This is the FASI.
- 14:40Speaker 5: What are you?
- 14:43Speaker 12: What do you mean?
- 14:45Speaker 5: You know?
- 14:45Speaker 3: I got it?
- 14:47Speaker 12: I don't look too.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Welcome back to the Sway Shock Shops. Oh Lord, Mercelvia,
- 15:17Speaker 3: don't don't show them the wife. Peter mc kinney, Ah,
- 15:27Speaker 3: Welcome back to the show.
- 15:31Speaker 1: We left talking about the spectacle the spectacle that it
- 15:35Speaker 1: was run. The Rousee and Gina Correno, the two ladies
- 15:40Speaker 1: that really put UFC Women's m M a UFC Martial
- 15:46Speaker 1: Arts on display, the two biggest brands at the time
- 15:51Speaker 1: that catapulted the sport forward. I had a match, a
- 15:57Speaker 1: lot of hype over it, a lot of people paying attention.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Expectations was high. But whenever something like that happens, the
- 16:11Speaker 1: conspiracies always come out. When it happens fast. As I
- 16:20Speaker 1: alluded to earlier, Command you, Greg mc kenny in the studio,
- 16:24Speaker 1: this is how Ronda Rousey, this is her thing. It
- 16:29Speaker 1: was textbook. It was taking advantage of a person who
- 16:34Speaker 1: hasn't been Even though I haven't been in it, you
- 16:36Speaker 1: haven't been in it either. Forty four years old, your
- 16:39Speaker 1: reaction time is slower. And hats off to Gina Carono.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Losing one hundred pounds in twenty months.
- 16:52Speaker 3: WHOA what do you take this? The story like one
- 16:56Speaker 3: hundred pounds? Yeah, in twenty months that she had gone
- 17:01Speaker 3: up one hundred pounds and then was able to lose it.
- 17:04Speaker 3: That was her motivation right there. She won just getting
- 17:08Speaker 3: prepared to get into the octagone.
- 17:11Speaker 1: With they tried to get the fight sooner, but at
- 17:15Speaker 1: the time she had gotten up to about two thirty
- 17:18Speaker 1: two thirty five, somewhere up in that range of her weight,
- 17:22Speaker 1: and I think a lot of it came off of
- 17:24Speaker 1: and you could tell even when she was in that
- 17:27Speaker 1: Mandalorian show if you go back and watch a couple
- 17:29Speaker 1: of episodes, her character was kind of like a bounty hunter.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I don't know if y'all watched that kind of stuff.
- 17:36Speaker 1: It's on Disney The Mandalorian, and that she hadn't gotten
- 17:40Speaker 1: some weight under. I didn't know it was that much,
- 17:43Speaker 1: but for her to come out and you know, I
- 17:46Speaker 1: think she's like two three months shy of two years
- 17:49Speaker 1: that she lost that hundred pounds to get down to
- 17:53Speaker 1: one forty one. I think the highest they could be
- 17:57Speaker 1: was one forty five. But both of them made waight
- 18:01Speaker 1: and the match only took seventeen seconds. Roun Rousey eight
- 18:06Speaker 1: of her twelve victories had but come within the first minute.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Her signature is the ar bar. She set it up perfectly.
- 18:24Speaker 1: So whatever complaint command she greg has, Big Kenny has.
- 18:28Speaker 1: As far as conspiracy, it was textbook. They did a
- 18:32Speaker 1: great job of acting. If it's a conspiracy. They both
- 18:38Speaker 1: won an award. Ronda swung at her to get her
- 18:43Speaker 1: to move back a little bit. Then she attacked her
- 18:46Speaker 1: like a linebacker hitting a running back with her left shoulder.
- 18:50Speaker 1: She got her on the ground real quick. She swung
- 18:54Speaker 1: about three times to make her open her arm up.
- 18:59Speaker 1: And when she opened that arm up, she clutched it
- 19:02Speaker 1: and quickly swung her leg around. And once you in
- 19:07Speaker 1: that as a seasoned veteran like Coronto, I'm not about
- 19:14Speaker 1: to take any of this. You got me. There is
- 19:18Speaker 1: no imagine. It's kind of you know, in the movies
- 19:23Speaker 1: and the television they love to show you and the
- 19:25Speaker 1: man has the gun at your tempo, you know, the
- 19:29Speaker 1: equalize the denze. Oh even though the gun, oh you're
- 19:33Speaker 1: too close now, the bullet would have still gotten off.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Now I might not hit you clean, but you're acting
- 19:39Speaker 1: like your hand speed is so quick and now and
- 19:42Speaker 1: now you once she grappled it, Corono didn't even try
- 19:46Speaker 1: to fight the baby.
- 19:47Speaker 3: You said, you said, you said in the movies they
- 19:50Speaker 3: often show you, and I'm saying in the movies it
- 19:55Speaker 3: would have been I get you to back up, I
- 19:58Speaker 3: go to the ground, arm bar. But then someone goes
- 20:01Speaker 3: hold on, go back seem to take three Why don't
- 20:06Speaker 3: you punch her a few times? And then wrote it
- 20:11Speaker 3: was textbook enough that it still comes off as are
- 20:17Speaker 3: we sure this is what happened?
- 20:20Speaker 1: I'm saying now.
- 20:21Speaker 3: The Ronda Rousey victories have been just like this so
- 20:29Speaker 3: much that this is believable, Which is the best part
- 20:33Speaker 3: of it. The people who got why as a conspiracy?
- 20:38Speaker 3: Are you feeding the conspiracy? Why couldn't this have been
- 20:42Speaker 3: a true match? What would have it taken for you
- 20:46Speaker 3: to have seen this as a true match?
- 20:49Speaker 1: Oh, seventeen more seconds? But she's done this to younger
- 20:55Speaker 1: opponents when she would wrestle, I mean, when she would
- 20:57Speaker 1: get in these cages. Yeah, so and again sports jock.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Only because of my life experience, I'm it's completely me
- 21:09Speaker 3: that I always look for the hustle in it. This
- 21:14Speaker 3: is what I would consider the what I call the
- 21:17Speaker 3: supreme hustle, the ultimate hustle. You can't tell me I'm
- 21:21Speaker 3: hustling you. There's no way to uncover if there is
- 21:24Speaker 3: an impropriety. Nobody outside of this hustle can detect it.
- 21:30Speaker 1: But did you think, and I know we gotta go
- 21:33Speaker 1: to break, but did you ever feel that these women
- 21:37Speaker 1: were hustling you when they first was fighting, because usually
- 21:43Speaker 1: the hustler has always been a hustler. Yeah, well, do
- 21:48Speaker 1: you think MMA is just a hustle period? I think
- 21:54Speaker 1: maybe it got summer parts of it got perverted into
- 21:57Speaker 1: a hustle. Uncle Charlie, want to know, did anybody ask
- 21:59Speaker 1: for refund? Do we ever have those issues when the
- 22:02Speaker 1: fights go too short?
- 22:04Speaker 3: Well?
- 22:04Speaker 9: Way, it was on Netflix, so probably enough people probably
- 22:08Speaker 9: saw it as free, even though you paid for a subscription.
- 22:11Speaker 1: But right, all I'm asking we'll talk about on the
- 22:14Speaker 1: other side of the break is when the Tysons, when
- 22:18Speaker 1: people like that, you know, you turned around, reached the
- 22:22Speaker 1: grab to catch up for your fries, and it was wrong.
- 22:24Speaker 1: It was over. Nobody seemed to have had a conspiracy. Yeah,
- 22:30Speaker 1: maybe we hadn't seen enough back in that time. I
- 22:38Speaker 1: just that's why I said, I can't sit here and
- 22:40Speaker 1: tell you your conspiracy is wrong. I can't. But it was
- 22:44Speaker 1: beautifully executed. Yeah, And I didn't see any reason why
- 22:48Speaker 1: I saw a forty four year old fighter doing something
- 22:52Speaker 1: she hadn't basically done, and so long she had forgotten
- 22:57Speaker 1: and in the moment, because round the Rousey almost makes
- 23:02Speaker 1: you forget that you can win by submission. Yeah, she
- 23:07Speaker 1: comes out with this, we're gonna beat each other up filling,
- 23:11Speaker 1: and she goes for almost what you some people would
- 23:15Speaker 1: labeled as the coward way, but in her mind it
- 23:19Speaker 1: still don't have to stand here and fight all day.
- 23:21Speaker 3: I don't have to break your nose and knock you.
- 23:23Speaker 3: We don't have to bleed.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I need you to slip up and let that arm go,
- 23:28Speaker 1: and we don't get on up out of here. And
- 23:30Speaker 1: it is a submission game. Some people are going for that. Well,

- 26:01Speaker 1: And now back to the sports. John Wayne Gandy in
- 26:08Speaker 1: the Red Zo, Welcome back to this one shock Shock,
- 26:38Speaker 1: this one shock Wayne Candy. Good morning to you out
- 26:41Speaker 1: there and listening then, glad to be here with you.
- 26:47Speaker 3: The face of clickbait media. Mm hmm, clickbait media.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Jayalen Brown of the Celtics says that that's what Stephen
- 26:59Speaker 1: a myth is. He's the He's the face of click
- 27:03Speaker 1: bait media. Last night, shots fire shots, fire my pray.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Shots that empire very much my pray. When I heard
- 27:17Speaker 1: the story when I'm listening, it caught me from one
- 27:21Speaker 1: of those things, almost like wrestling, when you find out
- 27:27Speaker 1: wrestling is not real, from the aspect of the winner
- 27:31Speaker 1: loser kind of you know, like they're really they're doing
- 27:35Speaker 1: the act. It is a real hard sport on the
- 27:37Speaker 1: body to execute. They're like living stunt men to a degree.
- 27:44Speaker 1: But when you find out like the narrative of who
- 27:47Speaker 1: wins is kind of decided through the storyline more than
- 27:51Speaker 1: it is the actual battle. So when the gig is
- 27:55Speaker 1: up and you have young superstars like a Jalen Brown
- 28:01Speaker 1: come out and say you're just your clickbait guy, how
- 28:07Speaker 1: much of your audience do you lose when now people
- 28:10Speaker 1: know you're just saying it? Because that's what I fay
- 28:14Speaker 1: once I start seeing that's your gimmick. We've had it
- 28:17Speaker 1: here on the show. When I know that's the angle
- 28:20Speaker 1: you're going to come from, that's just your ankle. You're
- 28:23Speaker 1: going to turn everything into ism or a phobia. Is
- 28:29Speaker 1: that's always your your landmark to be able to click
- 28:35Speaker 1: when you see articles written. Sometimes when I'm researching stories,
- 28:41Speaker 1: they actually write the story in the way to make
- 28:44Speaker 1: you click on once you get into the story. The headline.
- 28:50Speaker 1: It was nothing like the headline, right, I know the
- 28:54Speaker 1: Daily Mail, everything they sell is the superstar, the Belichick,
- 28:59Speaker 1: the disciple, and you get into.
- 29:01Speaker 3: The story and the man just with Belichick, the man
- 29:12Speaker 3: used to work for Belichick, twenty years ago. You found
- 29:15Speaker 3: that out, But I'm gonna throw that in the headline.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Jaylen Brown, you know, going for guns right here with
- 29:24Speaker 1: uh sports jock.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Of course Jaylen Brown would say this because he's not
- 29:31Speaker 3: Lebron James.
- 29:33Speaker 1: If Jaylen Brown were Lebron James.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Then he would like people talking about him the way
- 29:41Speaker 3: talk about Lebron James when you're a bum. And I
- 29:46Speaker 3: can say bum because I have been around sports so
- 29:50Speaker 3: much that I can talk about it as if I
- 29:52Speaker 3: am a Hall of Famer. But what you have to
- 29:55Speaker 3: understand is that black people deserve to women cook in
- 30:01Speaker 3: the kitchen.
- 30:02Speaker 1: How can you accuse me of click bait? There's so
- 30:07Speaker 1: many things wrong about that.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Of course you would say things are wrong with that,
- 30:16Speaker 3: and that's it right there, That's it.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna say a bunch of things.
- 30:20Speaker 3: So how you going? How you gonna tell me I'm
- 30:22Speaker 3: wrong when I say you just you a clickbait And
- 30:25Speaker 3: you're not even just rage bait. You click bait. Rage
- 30:28Speaker 3: bait is trying to make people mad. He just say
- 30:31Speaker 3: stuff to make people disagree with him.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Some of the stuff is fact checking.
- 30:37Speaker 3: I'll click on Steve and they just to go see
- 30:39Speaker 3: this ain't true, and go he but it master, That's
- 30:45Speaker 3: what I'm saying, And that's if it's the Rhonda Rousey
- 30:49Speaker 3: tap out thing, and he does it so well.
- 30:52Speaker 1: We don't know if it's real or not.
- 30:54Speaker 3: We don't know if he feel like that or don't
- 30:56Speaker 3: feel like that, but it still makes us feel the
- 30:59Speaker 3: exact same way each and every time.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Have you ever seen Steven A. Smith on the TV?
- 31:04Speaker 3: Not want to hear what he has to say, but
- 31:06Speaker 3: the longer his images up there, you turn the TV up?
- 31:10Speaker 3: You ever done that? TV was off, no sound and
- 31:14Speaker 3: then he on there and he keep talking before you the.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Movie, I might click when I do click on, I'll
- 31:19Speaker 1: turn up to hear what he says, and then I,
- 31:22Speaker 1: most likely about two seconds as he starts talking, cut
- 31:25Speaker 1: him off. I just turned the channel.
- 31:26Speaker 3: But you know what they call that in the entertainment
- 31:29Speaker 3: app world.
- 31:31Speaker 1: A view, a click, the clicks. Well, I'm saying how
- 31:36Speaker 1: many seconds because I've been trying to make sure you
- 31:38Speaker 1: don't get.
- 31:39Speaker 3: There's there's click, and then there's engagement. You're clicking on.
- 31:42Speaker 3: He got the click? You watch No, I just accidentally
- 31:45Speaker 3: turned to the station. Yeah, but that's once it started
- 31:49Speaker 3: and it starts.
- 31:51Speaker 1: First, take what's on. I didn't turn on when first thing.
- 31:57Speaker 3: You gotta know, when you were searching, you were searching
- 32:00Speaker 3: through the guide and you turned and it clicked and
- 32:02Speaker 3: it started talking blindly sometimes just hit ESPN and boots
- 32:07Speaker 3: and there he is. And then you gave him. And
- 32:10Speaker 3: then you gave him that extra three seconds. So those
- 32:13Speaker 3: five seconds out of the thirty seconds they hoped to
- 32:16Speaker 3: catch you.
- 32:17Speaker 1: It counted for him.
- 32:19Speaker 3: And then he said something stupid and it made you go, hey,
- 32:21Speaker 3: Ben Kenny, come look at this, Come look at this.
- 32:23Speaker 3: And if we watched another two minutes, and that's where
- 32:26Speaker 3: he's winning. And so for Jalen Brown to call him out,
- 32:30Speaker 3: there's a whole bunch of people who see themselves as
- 32:34Speaker 3: coming from a Stephen A. Smith school of philosophy. They
- 32:37Speaker 3: want to be like him. Well, I say it, how
- 32:39Speaker 3: much time? How many athletes will it take for the people?
- 32:43Speaker 1: I mean, only athletes that seem to go along with
- 32:47Speaker 1: Steven A are the ones that he gets on his show.
- 32:52Speaker 1: I mean he's had a war with the King himself,
- 32:55Speaker 1: he's had award with k D, he's had award with
- 32:58Speaker 1: Jalen Brown. I mean the numbers keep going on and on,
- 33:03Speaker 1: and most of the times it's only you know, I've
- 33:05Speaker 1: never really seen him go after someone like a Steph Curry.
- 33:11Speaker 1: But Steph Curry.
- 33:12Speaker 9: For a superstards to be as it has to be
- 33:15Speaker 9: as loud as he is.
- 33:16Speaker 1: It ain't about.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Who he goes after, It's about who goes after him.
- 33:21Speaker 3: I'm fifty cent you, jay Z, I'm Kendrick Lamar you Drake.
- 33:27Speaker 3: So if I can get the king to say, man,
- 33:29Speaker 3: tell stephen A, who is stephen A?
- 33:32Speaker 1: Why?
- 33:32Speaker 3: But it seems that these guys will ride with you
- 33:36Speaker 3: until a point. And then in this story, Jaylen Brown
- 33:39Speaker 3: is saying stephen A has come in and about conversation
- 33:45Speaker 3: of the team between me and Jason Tatum and using
- 33:52Speaker 3: sources say yeah, you went in the room, what are
- 33:56Speaker 3: you talking about? So it's to say there was two
- 33:58Speaker 3: people in the room. That's what makes gossip so bald.
- 34:02Speaker 3: My sources say that. That's always say that the sources.
- 34:08Speaker 3: But did he say that that's what I'm saying? Say that?
- 34:13Speaker 3: Did he say that that's the source? No, and neither
- 34:16Speaker 3: one of us. That wasn't even what we were talking
- 34:18Speaker 3: about or was it. No, I'm actually telling you me
- 34:22Speaker 3: and him are telling you neither one of us, but
- 34:25Speaker 3: my sources said, We're gonna go with my sources on
- 34:29Speaker 3: what you said.
- 34:31Speaker 1: We were talking about Lebron. Lebron was seemed like he
- 34:33Speaker 1: was willing to take whatever you do at him until
- 34:36Speaker 1: you start trying to attack his son about things that
- 34:41Speaker 1: didn't happen.
- 34:41Speaker 9: Now you're talking about like me being a father and
- 34:43Speaker 9: I about basketball. You're talking about he as a father?
- 34:46Speaker 1: Right? What that got to do with your show?
- 34:49Speaker 3: And again, I think where it really boils down to,
- 34:54Speaker 3: Am I wrong for creating an imaginary world?
- 35:00Speaker 1: Are you wrong for loving fiction so much?
- 35:04Speaker 3: You tune in to these stories every day? You haven't
- 35:10Speaker 3: talked to me? How do you give? And we we
- 35:12Speaker 3: talked about this, Mike Tyson even tried to suit.
- 35:15Speaker 1: How do you like make these shows and documentaries about things?
- 35:19Speaker 1: Do you think that I said, based on the ability to.
- 35:26Speaker 3: Source, nobody called me. I'm alive. That's what I'm saying.
- 35:30Speaker 3: So do you think when Jack chopped down the beanstalk
- 35:33Speaker 3: somebody was actually there?
- 35:34Speaker 1: No, we just love you telling us about it, and
- 35:37Speaker 1: that's all I need.
- 35:38Speaker 3: That was a source that told us what Jack did,
- 35:41Speaker 3: and that source was so reliably so animated. So Paul
- 35:46Speaker 3: Revere didn't say the Rick coach. That's what they said.
- 35:50Speaker 3: That's everybody said. Everybody say it. Everybody says drunk you
- 35:58Speaker 3: just screaming, Hey Paul again, Neil. Somebody looked at the window,
- 36:08Speaker 3: went this food. Oh, look that looked like some British
- 36:11Speaker 3: people coming. And then it turned into and.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Paul said, the British are coming.
- 36:17Speaker 3: And now everybody, yes, it's a legend.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Let me tell you about the legend of Paul revealed.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Because somebody said, we we love sources, we love sources.
- 36:29Speaker 1: And this is another thing.
- 36:30Speaker 3: The way we found out that wrestling had always had
- 36:34Speaker 3: a scripted ending. What if we find out that from
- 36:37Speaker 3: the beginning of journalism, sources have been just me stuff.
- 36:41Speaker 1: I think, trust me bro, trust me bro.
- 36:44Speaker 3: What if what if that has been it Watergate deep throat,
- 36:48Speaker 3: All of those sources CI sources were just.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Me thinking up stuff and ear hustling and Jalen. Unfortunately,
- 36:56Speaker 1: if I had to respond, really, this is not even
- 36:59Speaker 1: a thing of steven A. It's just when media decided
- 37:04Speaker 1: it was going to become rich and make itself twenty
- 37:09Speaker 1: four hours you have to go to Hollywood kind of drama.
- 37:16Speaker 1: To make it such because really, I'm taking something that
- 37:21Speaker 1: we could doing twenty minutes thirty minutes, and I got
- 37:26Speaker 1: to make it into six two hour shows a week. Yeah,
- 37:34Speaker 1: So I gotta and I gotta get everything. I gotta
- 37:37Speaker 1: make it seem and point in counterpointing ad angles to it.
- 37:43Speaker 3: That KD called me and said, I didn't want the smoke.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Let me tell you something, friend, And Kd's sitting there like.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Women, I don't even have your number. I don't even
- 37:55Speaker 1: have your number.
- 37:56Speaker 3: But for me to say I don't have your number,
- 37:58Speaker 3: look at him, He's still going at him and that's
- 38:02Speaker 3: we This is the perfect storm for a steven A.
- 38:06Speaker 3: I don't know if the Times created Stephen A or
- 38:09Speaker 3: he was just ahead of the curve for these times
- 38:12Speaker 3: because this is the clickbait generation and he has mastered.
- 38:15Speaker 3: He's got a a expert level in clickbait.

- 41:16Speaker 1: Good morning to you out there and listening. Laying as
- 41:19Speaker 1: we were on break there, mc kenny reminded me about
- 41:23Speaker 1: the whole idea of graduation. Congratulations to our graduates, especially
- 41:30Speaker 1: those on the college collegiate level. I know, I was
- 41:34Speaker 1: watching the Indiana Fever game and versus the Storm yesterday
- 41:41Speaker 1: and they were talking about Flaje Johnson had went back.
- 41:45Speaker 1: She didn't fly with the team, she had went to
- 41:48Speaker 1: a graduation. I know last week they were talking about
- 41:53Speaker 1: Sir George Sanders graduating. Mc kenny was wondering when did
- 41:57Speaker 1: that basically come back into view. There was heavy the
- 42:04Speaker 1: idea that not only did you have to influence young
- 42:09Speaker 1: men and women to be great athletes, but you had
- 42:14Speaker 1: to inspire them as a college university as a coach
- 42:19Speaker 1: to graduate. That was a big stick you had when
- 42:25Speaker 1: you went to meet with parents. I think don Stay
- 42:30Speaker 1: said it best last year when she says she starts
- 42:32Speaker 1: her meeting with how much money you want? Really, it
- 42:36Speaker 1: used to be some idea of graduating and safety were
- 42:40Speaker 1: more of when coaches and recruiters were trying to get
- 42:46Speaker 1: you to come. Not only were they talking about the record,
- 42:51Speaker 1: they were talking about primetime games. They were talking about
- 42:56Speaker 1: graduate and that used to be something even during the game,
- 42:59Speaker 1: right they talked about they would try to make an
- 43:03Speaker 1: emphasis real quickly. They shoot to whoever got the highest GPA.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Sometimes yeah, all the time, not all the time, but
- 43:13Speaker 1: now it's almost right after commercial break, they'll just say
- 43:18Speaker 1: something real.
- 43:18Speaker 3: Quick as an academic All American.
- 43:22Speaker 1: And they move on. Uh So to hear that back
- 43:26Speaker 1: in the media, very surprising, right, offensive Lineman Wayne Gandhy
- 43:31Speaker 1: just got the Academic All American Awards sponsored by Chick
- 43:37Speaker 1: fil A. Yes, that's where you got to have a sponsor. Well, yeah,
- 43:43Speaker 1: we won't mention it if it's not as sponts sponsor. Yeah,
- 43:46Speaker 1: we won't mention. Yeah, it's not even an appointed emphasis
- 43:49Speaker 1: without sponsorship. But surprising that people are even interested, right.
- 43:55Speaker 3: Yeah, because I was wondering, like, is it even used
- 43:59Speaker 3: as a recruiting too anymore? Do people even mention that?
- 44:02Speaker 3: Because from what Don Staley has said, parents aren't even
- 44:06Speaker 3: asking about it, so we don't even take that statistically.
- 44:09Speaker 9: Also, there's also an part of the audience thinks that
- 44:14Speaker 9: the Okay, these guys they don't go to class, They
- 44:17Speaker 9: just you know, skate by or they're like just given
- 44:21Speaker 9: all these things. And but I think they show that
- 44:25Speaker 9: to show that these guys do go to class. They
- 44:30Speaker 9: they're trying to learn something, or they're you know, they're
- 44:32Speaker 9: going to get a degree in in something.
- 44:34Speaker 3: And I asked about it in recruiting, and I know
- 44:37Speaker 3: that these are wonderful stories. Congratulations to them for completing
- 44:41Speaker 3: their secondary education and getting a college degree. It's just
- 44:45Speaker 3: that the more and more you start to erase the
- 44:49Speaker 3: line of academics, it used to be kind of blurred,
- 44:52Speaker 3: but now you've kind of erased it all together where
- 44:54Speaker 3: you don't even talk about it. How long will we
- 44:57Speaker 3: use that as a a metric for getting into college sports? Like,
- 45:03Speaker 3: why don't we just open it to the fast and
- 45:05Speaker 3: the strong and.
- 45:08Speaker 1: That's it. Why do you have to have a GPA
- 45:10Speaker 1: at all if the graduation.
- 45:13Speaker 3: Won't count, If we don't want to know how many
- 45:16Speaker 3: people graduate or can I get a degree? All I
- 45:19Speaker 3: need to be is athletic. How long will we keep
- 45:23Speaker 3: using academics as a metric if no one is achieving
- 45:28Speaker 3: that goal?
- 45:29Speaker 1: Well, I don't know that we are using it. I
- 45:31Speaker 1: think that even to get into colleges in general, the
- 45:34Speaker 1: GPAs and the SAT and the ACT scores have been lowered.
- 45:38Speaker 9: Correct, I know with the Yeah, with the ACT, I
- 45:46Speaker 9: think that I think the heights you can get is thirty.
- 45:48Speaker 9: I think you need to get like a sixteen seventeen,
- 45:52Speaker 9: And with the GPA. I think it's a two.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Yeah, well they've already reduced it. Even entry is all
- 46:00Speaker 1: really down to like a C. As long as you
- 46:03Speaker 1: are at a C level, you can in it. Excuse me,
- 46:07Speaker 1: get an entry to college now. So on an academic
- 46:11Speaker 1: level and for sports. The path to education and your
- 46:18Speaker 1: degree is centered around the individual more than it is
- 46:22Speaker 1: the school. There's nothing. It's some kids comes with the
- 46:28Speaker 1: idea that this degree, and I've shared these stories, especially
- 46:32Speaker 1: those guys. We all come there as some kind of
- 46:35Speaker 1: high school some fe Most guys that turn the page
- 46:42Speaker 1: to that education is going to be what's pushed me forward.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Are the guys that after year or two see that, well,
- 46:49Speaker 1: I'm not going to beat out Barry Sanders, so I
- 46:56Speaker 1: need I need to know what I'm saying.
- 46:59Speaker 9: If I get in next I'm not going to be out.
- 47:01Speaker 9: But I'm going to school for a free No, so
- 47:04Speaker 9: I'm going to I'm going to rest these books. I'm
- 47:07Speaker 9: not going I'm saying, no, what if.
- 47:09Speaker 3: They let me into this next game and I and
- 47:12Speaker 3: I do my joke and they see me why very resting.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Well that becomes those guys that end up in that
- 47:20Speaker 1: still at the school six seven years. But for most
- 47:26Speaker 1: of the guys, they concede. There's a conceding of.
- 47:32Speaker 3: That.
- 47:32Speaker 5: I'm not.
- 47:36Speaker 7: That.
- 47:36Speaker 1: I mean hubris can lead you down a bad path
- 47:40Speaker 1: to continue you were. That doesn't take away what you were.
- 47:45Speaker 1: It just means that now I got to make an adjustment.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Especially That's why I say it takes maybe about to
- 47:52Speaker 1: your junior year where you realize, okay, the next level
- 47:56Speaker 1: and even the commercial they run where they sure I
- 47:58Speaker 1: just tell you that, yeah, to premit go to the
- 48:03Speaker 1: professional sports.
- 48:04Speaker 3: The rest going to be leaders in you know, science
- 48:08Speaker 3: and because you know, Robin wanted to be Hawkman, but
- 48:12Speaker 3: he just he ended up as Robin the sidekick, the batman.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Though now the colleges they provide the tutors and all
- 48:18Speaker 1: that and you get all the assistant A lot of
- 48:21Speaker 1: kids now should it should be an easier path. I mean,
- 48:25Speaker 1: the transfer portal can make it hard, but it can
- 48:27Speaker 1: be an easier path because a lot of college kids
- 48:31Speaker 1: they go to school the January they're already there. Yeah.
- 48:37Speaker 1: So the basketball player, the foot especially the football player
- 48:41Speaker 1: that's any good, he leaves in December and go he's
- 48:45Speaker 1: in college in January, and they go to school all
- 48:51Speaker 1: you know they're they're never taking a summer off. They
- 48:53Speaker 1: have plenty of time. And now if that's what you
- 48:58Speaker 1: choose to do, so it should never be a surprise.
- 49:02Speaker 1: It's just very interesting that it's not like, like you said,
- 49:06Speaker 1: Mick ckenny, it's not like this demand of even being
- 49:11Speaker 1: noted right that used to push you up as a coach,
- 49:15Speaker 1: to be able to say, oh, I won ten games
- 49:17Speaker 1: and I graduate of my players. Yeah, everybody, did you win?
- 49:24Speaker 1: Is all they care about.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Now that's it. We'll be back more to Sports Jock
- 49:28Speaker 3: Show right after this.
- 49:31Speaker 1: I think you beat about just how I'm leaving.
- 49:41Speaker 10: Don't go awayne Board of the Sports Josh Hill with
- 49:44Speaker 10: Wayne Gamby is coming up next.
- 49:48Speaker 12: What I know about courage I learned from my adoptive mom.
- 49:52Speaker 13: She said, sometimes you just gotta hold on and no,
- 49:54Speaker 13: we'll get through this.
- 49:56Speaker 12: Mom, we are so.
- 49:57Speaker 25: High up, but my him, no, you hold my hand.
- 50:02Speaker 3: Here we go.
- 50:06Speaker 7: Learn about adopting a team from foster care. You can't
- 50:09Speaker 7: imagine the reward.
- 50:11Speaker 15: Visit adopt us kids dot org to find out more.
- 50:16Speaker 8: I learned patience from my adoptive dad.
- 50:20Speaker 7: All he had to say was, hey, you got this.
- 50:23Speaker 5: Just breathe.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Hey, we're pretty good.
- 50:29Speaker 26: Yeah you wh I had to start a band, I
- 50:33Speaker 26: got it. Learn about adopting a team from foster Care.
- 50:36Speaker 26: You can't imagine the reward. Visit adopt us Kids dot
- 50:39Speaker 26: org to find out more. This message is brought to
- 50:41Speaker 26: you by adopt Us Kids, the US Department of Health
- 50:43Speaker 26: and Human Services, and the ad Council.
- 50:48Speaker 3: And now back to the sports John Wayne Gandy.
- 50:54Speaker 27: Center Court on sports news gossip, blah blah blah blah blah.
- 51:04Speaker 7: Captain, the transport is ready.
- 51:06Speaker 28: That's it, Lieutenant Marbert, what is the condition of the
- 51:09Speaker 28: planets surface?
- 51:11Speaker 8: It is difficult to be precise, However, my instruments indicate
- 51:15Speaker 8: a condition of extreme vigor mortis spreading rapidly throughout the population.
- 51:19Speaker 8: Highly illogical, Captain, A bunch of stiffs.
- 51:22Speaker 28: Huh, were set coordinaces for Chocolate City and have a
- 51:26Speaker 28: landing party of nine men being down immediately with phases
- 51:30Speaker 28: set on funk funk very well, Captain Smith.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Walk back to this boy shot show. I'm this wore
- 51:40Speaker 1: shock Win Candy Comanchi, Greg Big Kenny in the studio.
- 51:44Speaker 1: We talked about the MVP race a little earlier. It
- 51:49Speaker 1: looks like Shay Gil Chris Alexander when this year back
- 51:54Speaker 1: to back MVP in the NBA Nicola Joker jok It
- 52:00Speaker 1: comes in second, Wenby comes in the third. Remember Shay
- 52:07Speaker 1: and Wenby played tonight in the Western Final Spurs versus Thunder.
- 52:14Speaker 1: No American born Comanchi who was the last American born
- 52:19Speaker 1: MVP in the NBA. James Harden James Harden, Which year
- 52:24Speaker 1: was that?
- 52:25Speaker 3: Twenty eighteen, twenty eighteen, Big Kenny ten years ago eighteen,
- 52:31Speaker 3: so pre pre COVID, pre COVID, and they do this
- 52:36Speaker 3: every year, Am I correct? Wow? Think about that? So
- 52:41Speaker 3: that means that the last eight, the last eight, which
- 52:46Speaker 3: is Joker, Shaye and Giannis missing Embiid Embid Joel Embiid,
- 52:54Speaker 3: who since he's one has he's a now he's a
- 52:59Speaker 3: guest dual city Siss citizenship. Joel will be We'll talk
- 53:03Speaker 3: about him later in the show. But I ain't judge
- 53:05Speaker 3: it because we all got two i DS.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Am I right? Am I right?
- 53:08Speaker 3: Saying it ain't and I don't have two IDs, so
- 53:11Speaker 3: now you ain't. Okay, I don't have either one of those.
- 53:19Speaker 3: But we talk about this all the time. With the
- 53:22Speaker 3: international game growing in the NBA where there's a great percentage.
- 53:26Speaker 3: Even when we talked about the All Star Game, if
- 53:29Speaker 3: you know, if they wanted to switch up something that
- 53:31Speaker 3: might get the guys to play a little harder.
- 53:35Speaker 1: I thought of two things. Shorten it to like maybe
- 53:39Speaker 1: ten minutes or eight minute quarters instead of the regular twelve.
- 53:48Speaker 1: I think that could get a little more action going.
- 53:50Speaker 1: You know, we're just gonna play because we're still is
- 53:53Speaker 1: an exhibition right in a sense, So so you can field,
- 53:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna cut some time off. We're gonna go from
- 54:00Speaker 1: forty eight minutes to what thirty two minutes. That's that's
- 54:03Speaker 1: a good amount of time off, isn't it. Yeah.
- 54:05Speaker 9: I think with the Rising Stars Challenge they were playing
- 54:08Speaker 9: ten minute periods, right, So I mean.
- 54:13Speaker 1: And go to some kind of USA versus the world
- 54:19Speaker 1: and in that spirit you kind of get more of
- 54:21Speaker 1: an Olympic feel to it to the game, like and
- 54:26Speaker 1: that's going to maybe get you.
- 54:28Speaker 4: A little more.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Because we don't will we don't want to conceive that
- 54:33Speaker 1: the world is better than us, and this.
- 54:35Speaker 9: You don't want to do this this round robin thing
- 54:38Speaker 9: that they that they just did.
- 54:41Speaker 1: No, I'm saying it seemed like it did add a little,
- 54:44Speaker 1: but I know something that would ignite that seemed like
- 54:46Speaker 1: it would ignite very quickly. And if you sit there
- 54:50Speaker 1: and start like we're saying, you got Shaye Wimby Joker,
- 54:58Speaker 1: Luca Luca Janni's over here, now we shameful. It'd be
- 55:06Speaker 1: shameful to lose. For us to lose an All Star
- 55:09Speaker 1: game to the world, well, a couple of things.
- 55:12Speaker 3: One do you think that we've talked constantly about how
- 55:17Speaker 3: the NBA is looking for a face. We hadn't had
- 55:20Speaker 3: an American MVP in eight years and we still won't
- 55:25Speaker 3: pull the trigger on the new face of the NBA.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Is it just because they know number one, that American
- 55:30Speaker 3: audiences won't accept a foreign born player being the face
- 55:34Speaker 3: of the NBA.
- 55:35Speaker 1: And two, if.
- 55:36Speaker 3: We go to that format us against them, you know
- 55:40Speaker 3: how Americans are, we go overboard with it. And now
- 55:43Speaker 3: instead of you being my favorite player, you're the one
- 55:47Speaker 3: that we're gonna start burning your jersey because you're from
- 55:51Speaker 3: the Ukraine, or we're gonna start burning your jersey because
- 55:53Speaker 3: you were from France.
- 55:54Speaker 1: And this is about America.
- 55:56Speaker 3: And now you know, the San Antonio Spurs are like, look, guys,
- 56:00Speaker 3: it's Okay, Wemby still one of us.
- 56:03Speaker 1: Don't protest him anymore.
- 56:05Speaker 3: And that's I wonder if the NBA struggles with that,
- 56:08Speaker 3: like we would love to push this, Hey, uh, don't
- 56:12Speaker 3: let them take over our sport. But some of you
- 56:14Speaker 3: guys are fanatics for real, and it'll go in a
- 56:17Speaker 3: direction were not into.
- 56:18Speaker 1: Saying sometimes fans forget it's a game. It's just a game.
- 56:22Speaker 1: It's just a game.
- 56:23Speaker 3: And now we're at the All Star Game with us
- 56:25Speaker 3: a versus the word and the French bus has been attacked,
- 56:30Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, Like everybody's on some foreign
- 56:33Speaker 3: players bust. But you were just cheering for him in
- 56:35Speaker 3: Chicago last week. But now he's from Canada today. So
- 56:40Speaker 3: I think sometimes NBA may struggle with that the identity
- 56:44Speaker 3: of the American fan.
- 56:45Speaker 1: Did Shay go wrong with his name? Should he just
- 56:49Speaker 1: have been Shay instead of SGA. We're his marketing team.
- 56:54Speaker 1: Did we mess up? Because we're talking about a guy
- 56:57Speaker 1: with a great game and MVP on player. He puts
- 57:02Speaker 1: you in the mind. More so of Tim Duncan as
- 57:06Speaker 1: far as his disposition, like he's not trying to stand
- 57:11Speaker 1: in front of the line. I think that's what makes
- 57:13Speaker 1: Okay see so dangerous Even with him being who he is,
- 57:16Speaker 1: he still plays as though he's equal as far as
- 57:21Speaker 1: notoriety as the rest of the guys. In his marketing campaign,
- 57:26Speaker 1: we're supposed to be pushing him. Shit, we have just
- 57:28Speaker 1: went with Shay SGA. Like you know, people mess up
- 57:33Speaker 1: their names. Kevin KG never really got the big ticket
- 57:37Speaker 1: thing going. He came in and he tried to sell
- 57:41Speaker 1: you he was the big ticket, but everybody kept.
- 57:45Speaker 3: Referring to him as KG, and they never really think
- 57:49Speaker 3: ran with the KG mantra.
- 57:52Speaker 9: I think he don't want to give someone a nickname,
- 57:55Speaker 9: but it not be or the one that will be
- 57:57Speaker 9: accepted if there's the one that doesn't see embarrassing. So
- 58:02Speaker 9: the initials is the safest. And even though I think
- 58:06Speaker 9: it's the it's the laziest.
- 58:08Speaker 3: Uh because he could have been because he could have
- 58:10Speaker 3: been big play Shade, he could have been all day shape,
- 58:13Speaker 3: you know, to.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Shay. He went with s G.
- 58:19Speaker 3: As got.
- 58:25Speaker 1: I was just thinking, like because Shay is a bad boy.
- 58:28Speaker 1: But I know, sometimes it's the market you're in. You
- 58:32Speaker 1: can't overcome, yeah and rapid fan base, like because you
- 58:37Speaker 1: still need the fan base to be the more vocal
- 58:42Speaker 1: and outlandish. But but but then.
- 58:45Speaker 3: That that that pushes back against the philosophy that Cream
- 58:49Speaker 3: rises to the top. He's got everything that he needs
- 58:53Speaker 3: to be high profile, number one guy in the NBA,
- 58:57Speaker 3: and he's still not. Is that because they're not pushing
- 59:01Speaker 3: him like that or we're just not pulling that vibe
- 59:05Speaker 3: in and buying it.
- 59:07Speaker 1: I think it has That's what I'm saying. I think
- 59:09Speaker 1: it has something to do with the market, because no
- 59:11Speaker 1: matter how good the Spurs were the Utah Jazz back
- 59:15Speaker 1: in the day, it's just like it's like if you're
- 59:18Speaker 1: not in like for five four or five markets, it's
- 59:21Speaker 1: just hard to drive home. Luca was doing the same
- 59:24Speaker 1: thing in Dallas, but being on a Laker uniform makes
- 59:27Speaker 1: it seem like there's an extra part to it, Yeah,
- 59:30Speaker 1: than it is then when he's doing the same forty
- 59:32Speaker 1: points a game pretty much that he was always doing.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Some people cat for the Knicks. It's a little more
- 59:40Speaker 1: shine than he did when he was in Minnesota. And
- 59:43Speaker 1: that's why sometimes these players do jump ship and go
- 59:46Speaker 1: to these markets because the market can catapult you a
- 59:49Speaker 1: little higher. Some places you can get lost. Yeah, as
- 59:56Speaker 1: far as being a player like people forget who's on
- 59:59Speaker 1: the Toronto Raptors.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: Yeah, the Indiana Pacers.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll be back more to Sports Jock Show right
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: after this.
- 1:00:08Speaker 27: Was a council blasses now for the long on a
- 1:00:14Speaker 27: guess I just did?
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: And now.
- 1:00:21Speaker 10: Don't bowl away or of the Sports Josh Show with
- 1:00:24Speaker 10: Wayne Gantius dumbing up next.
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: I ever tried balancing a dozen eggs in one hand while
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: hopping on one foot, or maybe juggling cats while riding
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: the unicycle. Sounds ridiculous, right, but guess what? That's exactly
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: what texting while.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: Driving is like.
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: Your human brain only has the capacity to focus on
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: one thing at a time, So when you're behind the wheel,
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: give driving your undivided attention.
- 1:00:46Speaker 25: Don't drive distracted. A message brought to you by the

- 1:00:57Speaker 15: Remember always be generous with the next may just diebal Okay.
- 1:01:03Speaker 20: Mom's wisdom has served you well, but now it may
- 1:01:06Speaker 20: be your turn to guide her.
- 1:01:08Speaker 24: Hey, I'm worried about Mom. She keeps forgetting her famous
- 1:01:11Speaker 24: sweet potato pie recipe.
- 1:01:13Speaker 12: Somethings come with it, says, and some don't.
- 1:01:16Speaker 20: Knowing the early signs of Alzheimer's and a left one

- 1:01:40Speaker 7: Excuse me while I will this.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: Out broadcasting live and it lant her to a.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Jab with this. This is the Sports Ship with Wayne Gandy.
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: You may.
- 1:01:58Speaker 10: Council.
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: I'm I'm gonna go on the way. You may.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: Walk back to this. What shock? Shum, This what shock?
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: Wayne Candy, Good morning to you out there and listening.
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: Alanta.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: I got a chance to go down to the Las
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Vegas Aces game.
- 1:02:23Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: They played the Atlanta Dream yesterday at State Farm, one
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: of the four games that state The Dream have moved
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: to State flam Arena this season from their regular home
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: and sell out crowd. Asia Wilson in the game. A
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: great game too. Came down to the last Chelsea Gray
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: hit a big bucket for the Aces and then she
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: stole the ball with about three seconds to go in
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: the game and they won by one point. So great game,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: great atmosphere for the Dream and the aces For you
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: that don't know, Asia Wilson considered one of the top
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: three or four players all time in the w n
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: b A. You put her up there with Cynthia Cooper,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: Diana Tarassi and those names. That's where she is. She's
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: definitely a top five easily, very dominant, big man in
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: the side, a big woman, however they say it. But
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: that's a great atmosphere for the game yesterday. What did
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: you think.
- 1:03:35Speaker 9: About how did the city receive Angel Reese? Oh yeah,
- 1:03:41Speaker 9: it was their first home game, right, they received it
- 1:03:46Speaker 9: pretty well.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: They still gave more love to the players that had
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: been here. The young lady Gray. I forget her first name,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Alicia Gray. You know, you could tell she was the
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: number one fan favorite of all but Anguries that the
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: thing I think. But Angel is just a angel is
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: it's like a Dennis Rodman thing. But an Angel that's
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: her game. So her game is never has you know,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: and it could develop, but this is your three. It's
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: a it's a workhorse, it's a rebound tapping there is
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: no Unfortunately, she plays that kind of position where it's
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: just hard for you can see like it almost has
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: a it has a ceiling to it right, right, because
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: there is no dribbling, there is no crossover, you know,
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: So it's not a shooter. She's not that kind of
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: player where it's still impactful. It's still like I'm saying,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: it's it's the Draymond. I mean, she has a little
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: more offensive skill than the people I'm mentioning, but it's
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: that kind of impact And sometimes we forget to appreciate
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: because we appreciate the person that dribbles all the time,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: I mean all highlight. Yeah, like we we love highlight,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: highlight move player.
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: And maybe I'm in the advent of social media talking
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: to consultants and people like that. They talk about, uh,
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: the attention span of the viewer, and in this social
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: media highlight era, maybe as fans, we're just mentally conditioned
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: to only want to see and hear the sound bites
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: and the highlight clip types of life. Even in our
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: regular life, we're looking for the highlight. We're looking for
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: the sound bite, and outside of finding those, we're kind
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: of disconnected.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: Yeah, and some of the players that win, And then
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: when you watch the w n b A, your most
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: notable players are the guards. You're talking about a sport
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: where it's only been into a three handful of dunks
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: and the whole history of it. I was going to say,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: and the person who did that is a guy. Now
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: I think Candice Parker dunked one time like or so
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: it's a guard driven truly a guard driven league. As
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: far as notable players, the players most people are gonna
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: see and say. And that's why Caitlyn carlark a brand
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: of play. As I've been telling people, she just brought
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: the Steph Curry like you know, because those are gonna
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: be the clips they're gonna show in a win or loss.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: The person that just kind of crosses half court and
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: fires it up. But we're gonna start.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: Sports and those people make make the other players mad too.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: It's like that's the one that everybody's mad at and
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: filing the hardest yes and going kids think, kids see that,
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: and well I can do that.
- 1:06:56Speaker 9: So it's like if they see something that, oh, if
- 1:06:58Speaker 9: I work on that, I can do it.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: Like shooting from half court, I can do that. Yeah,
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: you get lost, and I think, but I can shoot
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: from forty five.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: Injuries is going to and I think Asia Wilson and
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: what has kinda pulled her to the front and not
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: just the MVPs, is the championship trophies. Yeah, so it
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: gives her that big, big person, big inside presence, the
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: Shaquille O'Neill. She wins from that, like she's trophies around here,
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: Like she's one defensive player of the year too, had
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: a Player of the Year. So yeah, I'm not crossing
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: half court and just pulling or dribbling all day with
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: the slick move, right, But I got all the hardware
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: over here.
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: Yes, because I'm lifting the heavyweights. You just said that
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: when the kids see that, they think to themselves, I
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: can do that. We talked about SGA and did he
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: drop the ball or was there a fumble bag with
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: the marketing of the nickname mentioned off air that KD
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: they wanted to call him the Slim Reaper, And I asked,
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: do you think that some of that is the NBA's
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: reluctance because of the sensitivities to body shaming and political correctness,
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: And is it because one kid hears here's Slim Reaper
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: and thinks I'll use a something about somebody to describe them.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: And now you know.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: The the fat forward or something, and you know somebody
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: will take it and pervert it and go, oh, you
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: hurt somebody's feelings. Do you think that some of the
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: marketing ideas get pushed aside because they don't fit today's
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: climate of k.
- 1:08:46Speaker 9: Charles Berkley came out today and all the nicknames he had,
- 1:08:50Speaker 9: the round of Rebound, would that be Sir Charles.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: Charles, the round Mound, the Rebound that's insulted?
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: They call him the leading Tower of Pizza.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: No, we can't, can't.
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: The round mound was an aufurn thing, yeah, I'm saying,
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: but still the round he stopped, well, he stopped being
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: the round Mound. Yeah, he lost thirty pounds and became
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: Sir Charles. Yeah.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: I just threw that out because I was thinking, like
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: maybe he just should have stayed with Shay Shane yeah
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: instead of s g A right, because that seemed like
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: it was a choice of which way, because when you
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: look at it, it does it is better to play
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: off your name, like Ai, right. Kg Lebron just has
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: a name that was meant to be by itself, right,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: like Cheer and Madonna, it was Lebron. Some people they
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: just because that's what they call him. Jordan's They people
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: didn't really use.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: The air part it Barkley shat name called him, you know,
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: Tim Duncan and called himself the big fundamental.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: That's something the media created. So when I was with
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Shae with it, that's why I just threw that out there.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: He just went with Shae Man Shaye killing in the
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Knight instead of trying to push the sg A part.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: But in the time when he was being labeled SGA,
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: was he the MVP? Was he or were they trying?
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: Were they trying to forecast or find his audience? So
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: let's make sure you don't lose your connection to your countrymen.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: So they appreciate that gelgis Alexander because they do that
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: a lot across the border. But now that he's become
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: the man here, Ah, I wish we'd have just went
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: SGA or Shae from the beginning.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Should kids be able to attend the postgame press conference
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: with players? Just came up with Joelo b But a
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago when uh they lost the Sixers
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: loss and Joeli Breed brought his son. One of the reporters,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: Nick Wright, feels like in those situations the NBA players
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: shouldn't be allowed too. And we we've seen Steph current.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: We've seen a lot of them in this newer school era.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: Bring the kids to the press conferences. Can you see
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: the NBA moving towards that? And I can see where
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Nick Wright from a media perspective, you bring in your
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: four year old, three year old, two year old, usually
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: somebody you know that's usually they don't have infants, but
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: barely able to talk, kind of has as a reporter.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: I look up, I see you you with your kid.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: It's like how people are when they see you with
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: your kid. They're less likely that ain't no on site
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: when you with your kid. I'm gonna give your path now.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: You played like a bomb to night. But I can't say, hey,
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: excuse a loss, I'm saying after all, And I can't
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: say to you, hey man, you know you ought to
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: be cut right now.
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: They really ought to just trade you. But how do
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: you feel about But you're sitting with your son and
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: he'll remember.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: Because typically even your enemy will stall you out when
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: you when you're with your kid, and you don't want
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: to really associate you doing somebody wrong. And that lady
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: have a kid like you can't you can do the
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: catch her in two hours when she by herself. You're
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: good to go. But right now, but this is the thing.
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: I caught you outside the spot you had your kid.
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: I'll let you slide. Not for the next three weeks.
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: Everywhere I see you, you got your kid with you.
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: At some point, we still got to handle our business.
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: You see what I'm saying. You going week, We're not
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: on the street. I'm saying at the press conference, you're
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: gonna force me to go ahead and lob one of
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: these soft shots past your kidd. I'm saying, now, you
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: done lost three games in a row, and each time
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: you bring your kid and I deceive series about to
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: be over. And the question when I saw bring your son,
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: I said, boy, you got him, because that is the equalized.
- 1:13:24Speaker 9: Yeah, that's it's the shield until you run into the
- 1:13:28Speaker 9: unpredictable person who just go ah, I see you sitting
- 1:13:32Speaker 9: up there with your son.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: How you feel about you being a bomb on the cork?
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: You think that that ain't embarrassing? He still want to
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: be you still want that to be your daddy. But
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: still in that instance, more people are gonna protect me
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: then are gonna protect you, and they're gonna think that
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: you are wrong. Yeah, but I bet a lot of
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: people stop bringing their kid to the spot.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: I bet, but you know we'll break they'll do it more.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: But so congrats, So Joe, you did a great job.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Man whoever was like, hey, hey, take a little Joel
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: up there with you, I wanted.
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: Let him, let him, let him just have to cover
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: him one time, and they're gonna stop breaking up to
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: the fresh cough, we'll be back.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: One of the Sports Stock Show read after this.

- 1:17:20Speaker 1: Oh your favorite holiday? Birthday, birthday. Welcome back to swe
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: Shock Sham the swat shock, Wayne Candy, we were talking
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: about kids to the press conference. MC kennedy COMANCHI grad
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: just to put a little bull on that. I believe,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: whatever you have to do, it has to be blanket,
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: so it has to be win or lost, however they
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: decide to choose. And I think when the media might
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: be have been a little more fair to players. Players
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: a little scarred with how the media seems to really
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: like to stay off strip in storylines, you know, and
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: and we get more. You get ten articles about losses
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: and only one paragraph about whens.
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: You know what drives the media no telling what you
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: might get up here and feel like is your business?
- 1:18:19Speaker 6: Right?
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: We see that all the time. We were talking about
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: last week with Mike Rabel, things like that. Man, how
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: did we get dragged into that for the last two months?
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: And then we're gonna want to have a press conference
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: with Mike and somebody's gonna want to talk about that tonight.
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: Right, And you wonder why you don't want your kids
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: sitting there? Hey, Mike, is that the baby you had
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: with your side cheek? Oh, we can't talk about that,
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: you know, Mike and saitting there like I thought we
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: were gonna talk about the loss to face you about
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: the laws.
- 1:18:56Speaker 9: When when the news came out, like he was supposed
- 1:18:58Speaker 9: to have a press conference like for the draft to
- 1:19:01Speaker 9: talk about the draft, they had to cancel that because
- 1:19:04Speaker 9: you don't the draft.
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: And that's I've always thought that about to me when
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: you bring your child to the press conference. Now, the
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: unpredictable nature you're weighing your child's safety against these people's
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: willingness to control themselves verbally, because if they want to engage.
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: We've seen people get angry with reporters because they've said
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: off colored, off brand things. And maybe this dude is
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: looking for some shock value and I'm just going to
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: try and insult you and it and for a while,
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: it may, it may cost me my career at this outlet,
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: But for twenty four hours, I'll be the only thing
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: people are clicking about. I'll be the only thing people
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: are talking about on social media is the guy that
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: asks Shay this question.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: But you would be amazed how many a leads, if
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: it was left up to them win or loss, would
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: skip media completely, completely, completely. Yeah, that's why most leagues,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: most I don't care what it is, seem to have
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: a mandate of news. They have press comforts, they have
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: to be available because and a lot of people like, oh,
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: you're just doing this, like some guys win or lost,
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: because sometimes you win and you as a player, I
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: know you had a bad game, right, but you you
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: got the win, but you are not happy. You're not
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: it's you know, most players would just walk out the
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: locker room.
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: Sometimes it's that they all asked the same question, and
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: I don't want to answer that same question ten different ways.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: Yeah, we feel like you should just share. Yeah, I
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: like that at the combine. Yeah, you can go to
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: the combined and if you're especially if you're a top
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: rounder or there's a part of your game that's questionable,
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: all thirty two teams can ask to see you. And
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: you be thinking, couldn't just one person come here with
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: a recorder and get this over with? But no, you
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: got to go to the next room, the next floor,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: the next place to talk to them.
- 1:21:11Speaker 9: I'm from Denver, he's from Sandy eight. Well, i'd say la.
- 1:21:17Speaker 9: So we got different publications the same question.
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: Birthdays here. Travis Hunter for the Jacks, twenty three years old.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: Former Heisman Trophy winter. Vince Young did win the Heisman?
- 1:21:31Speaker 14: Right?
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: No he did not? Who were that year?
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: Ready Bush?
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: Oh?
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: Yeah, then they took Reggie and then they gave it
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: back to him. That's why I keep thinking Vince was
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: in that. Vince Young forty three years old. Clint Capella
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: is thirty two, Laney Wilson is thirty four, Sam Smith

- 1:26:54Speaker 24: took lightly, but with everything going on, I really wanted
- 1:26:57Speaker 24: to feel like I could protect myself. I hadn't thought
- 1:27:00Speaker 24: about the danger of an unlocked gun in my own
- 1:27:02Speaker 24: home too.
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: MEA where are your napkins? Not that drawer unless anyone

- 1:28:24Speaker 3: a that's a hard introduction right there.
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: I'm talking about if you played that for some twenty
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: two year old, That's what I'm surprised nobody has come
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: and made that into use that as a sample.
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: Because they know we protect it too hard. Now, some
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: stuff you can mess around with. You can play with.

- 1:28:52Speaker 3: gonna keep your hands off Larry Blackman. Now, we're not
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: gonna let you. Don't even recover it just now, because
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: why because you won't smoke with a whole generation of
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: people now, don't hey, hey, hey, that's for grown surprise.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: Nobody's sound.
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: It's like them cookies that came into ten container that's
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: just for grown folks. You got you can't touch that
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: little kid. So some one of these hip hop artists
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: has to be.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: Now you can find them cookies out that box.
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: I'm gonna grow.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: Charles Barkley says homophobic society is preventing more gay athletes
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: from coming out. He was talking about the pioneering spirit
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: of Jason Collins, who passed away unfortunately here in the
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: last couple of days at the age of forty seven.
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: And I saw this, and I was thinking, and I've
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: always said this about this subject. I've always felt we imagine,
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: because it's all, if you're not Jason Collins, you just
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: imagine that everything that he may have been doing in
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: his life was a sphere of what Charles is saying,
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: being a gay athlete and the scrutiny of that. But
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: you have to also give way to the idea that
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: some people just feel like it's not your business and
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: I don't want to be I don't want you in
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: my life like that, and and and and that's true.
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: Some people may feel like it's not your business, I
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: don't want you in my life like that, And some
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: athletes may be in a situation where the people around
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: him no and just don't care like that. Ain't nobody
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: care who you're sleeping with? Block your man. We might
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: know Jason Collins might have been opened the entire time
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: he was in the NBA, to his teammates, to his coaches,
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: everybody might have knew, but we don't care like that.
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: Can you rebound when you open? Can I pass you
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: the ball and you hit the shot? That's all that
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: really mattered to me. I mean, because this dude sleep
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: with girls who smoke black in miles. I don't like
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: them either, you see.
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: What I'm saying. But I let you live your life.
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: So sometimes I think people champion causes that they imagine
- 1:31:32Speaker 3: need more help than they actually do. You're the only
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: black guy here, surely you need a friend. Until you
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: said I was the only black guy here, me as
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: the black guy hadn't even noticed.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: I just thought I was in class. I just thought
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: I was in.
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: This group. I just thought I was on the team.
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: But you keep pointing out that I'm the only gay
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: guy here. You keep pointing out I'm the only Jewish
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: person in the organization. Some and that's how I feel
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: about a lot of this stuff. It may not be
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: that we're keeping quiet.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: We just live.
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: You don't go to work every day and go, hey,
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: I like women that are seven feet talk. That's not
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: something we do every day. We don't express our sexuality
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: at work. We don't talk about what we like. And
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: you've asked us to stop doing that.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: Yeah, And when he says American society is still unfrilling
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: towards gay I think American society is unfrilling against anything
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: that they're not doing. And I look at period when
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: when you are not in everything. And I was sitting
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: there thinking I could be Cooper Flag. And if I
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: put Cooper Flag's name on a wall and I didn't
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: tell you anything about Cooper Flag, you have to almost
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: erase what you know. And then I start describing everything
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: that I put down about Cooper Flag starts boxing him up.
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: So his name is Cooper Flag, right, I write him
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: down as black. That pushes him too a certain box. Wait,
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: Cooper Flag, how you get a name like Cooper Flag
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: and he can put him down his white? That puts
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: him in a certain box. And he won in pri
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: you know, he went to private school. I put him
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: down as vegan. That puts him you understand what I
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: going down. I put him down as Republican or Democrat.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: I put him down based on whatever religion. Every everything
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: I keep writing down underneath his name shortened or lengthened
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: a box based on our society. Coople Flag don't like
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: pets or Cooper Flag were leather or whatever it is.
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: It starts. That's how our country is when it comes
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: to anything, right, Taitlin Clark walked out with the Morgan
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: Wallen is that they said his name. She was now
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: accountable for whatever antics he did in his life.
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: I think it was like, oh, how did she walk
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: out with anything he did?
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: It's like, hold on, and that's just And that's why
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: I was saying with Cooper Flag, you find out that, oh,
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: Cooper Flag, listen to this artist right or this thing
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: and it just.
- 1:34:24Speaker 9: Starts already started because there was a video of him
- 1:34:30Speaker 9: and his girlfriend, who also into do She's black. So
- 1:34:33Speaker 9: now that's the thing because he got a black girlfriend.
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: And I didn't know that this was just this was
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: over the week.
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: I saw this over the yeah and everything that goes
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: and when I saw that, I completely understand where Charles
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: is coming from. I think that our society his mood.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: Uh sometimes too. Because I don't agree with what you
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: may do doesn't mean I hate you. That's why I
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: think phobias and to me have gotten to the point
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: that you want to add in you're for this and
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: I'm not for it. That don't mean is that? Is
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: that now the definition of phobia?
- 1:35:16Speaker 9: Well, and then yes, and it's and it's completely wrong
- 1:35:20Speaker 9: and no, I told y'all to come to dinner.
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: But I still don't agree with But I see they
- 1:35:26Speaker 3: make it seem like.
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: That's phobia, right? Is that phobia?
- 1:35:29Speaker 9: They're calling it phobia? But that that, like a lot
- 1:35:33Speaker 9: of words, the definition has changed over people, and people
- 1:35:37Speaker 9: try to make it something that it isn't it instead
- 1:35:40Speaker 9: of just saying, like like phobias, you're afraid of something,
- 1:35:44Speaker 9: but what it is?
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: You you just hate this for some irrational reason. Well,
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: and this is this is the other part the way
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: Charles Barkley reports on it, The way people talk about it.
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: Not only are they saying that we have a phobia,
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: which means we're opposed to it, we have an unnatural
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: response because of this thing being in our proximity we
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: react to it in illogical and possibly detrimental and violent ways,
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: like my being homophobic means that somehow I'm trampling on
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: your freedoms every chance that I get, Like just because
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: you're gay and a professional athlete and you're not open,
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: that means if someone says I'm gay in a locker room,
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: I face being harmed by my teammates. And that's not
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: the reality. It's you know, I can agree or disagree,
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: but there isn't this concerted effort to take something from
- 1:36:48Speaker 3: you because I don't agree with you. And that's the
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: way society portrays me not agreeing with you.
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: Now, And I thought phobia was like, you call it
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: Uber and the person who's driving the Uber is homosexual, right,
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: and you won't take the Uber ride based on that right,
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: And that's what I'm saying. That's all. I won't take
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: the Uber ride.
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: But for people who are against that, they would say
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: that somehow that harmed the Uber driver. I'm I'm infringing
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: upon their right to work and support a family. And
- 1:37:33Speaker 3: I'm trying to hold him back from being a happy
- 1:37:37Speaker 3: citizen because I won't ride with him.
- 1:37:40Speaker 7: And that's harmful.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but I can see where you can see that
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: as But if I you show up, I don't care.
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: If you Elton John, need to get to the airport
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: in thirty minutes, can you get me there? I don't
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: really care. That doesn't mean I agree with whatever you're
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: doing or not. I don't want to hold you back.
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna tip you the same. I'm gonna if you
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: a good ride, can I get your card so you
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: can pick me up? That's how I don't think some.
- 1:38:06Speaker 9: People want to get to the airport the right way. Well,
- 1:38:11Speaker 9: that means, yeah, we don't want to crash.
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: Well, and I'm saying and on time, and even and
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: even if I want to.
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: Just ride with a heterosexual driver, that don't mean I
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: don't want Elton John to pick up his next passenger.
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: I'm saying, you can do what you want to do.
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: I can do what I want to do. We don't
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: have to do it together. But that's so many people
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: make it seem like if I don't agree with you,
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: then I hate you.
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: And maybe I'm just I haven't seen a case where
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: I know, like recently Dwight Howard had to come out
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: and speak about his sexuality. Nothing happened, No, and he
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: went back to playing basketball. I would watch him play basketball,
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: so he's still a common and get a picture with him.
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: I don't get you know, and maybe it's just me,
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: but I don't see all these people reacting the way
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: we had predicted because we keep predicting that there's going
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: to be this. We're getting more windfall from transgender athletes
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: playing running track. You see people like hold on, now,
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: you know, but I don't see. I watched dianater Rossi
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: or the Young Lady for Dallas Wings page Becker's. They
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: don't have nothing to do with.
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: And it does it as al as the conversation, well,
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: how do I explain this to my kids? I don't know.
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: Well, and see that's what it makes me like.
- 1:39:47Speaker 9: There is it's more complax than people try to like
- 1:39:50Speaker 9: make it, try to simplify it.
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: But they were like, when did that become a.
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: Required conversation that you have to have with your kids
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: about other people's sex uality? And it's something you can talk.
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: Conversations with My kids be about getting in tune with themselves,
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: like find out who you are.
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: You ain't got time to be worried about how the man.
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: Most of my conversation is stay off the credit card.
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: If we could just do that, I don't care who
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: you spending the money with. Y'all spending too much. Somebody
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: needs to slow down. We'll be back more Sports show
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: right after this.
- 1:40:32Speaker 6: Don't go awayne more of the sports John Hill with
- 1:40:41Speaker 6: Wayne Gamdydia's.
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: Coming up next.
- 1:40:45Speaker 7: My Alzheimer's diagnosis was hard to take, but early detection

- 1:41:16Speaker 2: My car Butler will take the headache out of waiting

- 1:41:43Speaker 2: six three one seven one two one.
- 1:41:45Speaker 11: My Car Butler A proud sponsor of the sports Jock Show.
- 1:41:54Speaker 11: And now back to the sports job Wayne Anny.
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: Log on, say you can see a sports jaint.
- 1:42:21Speaker 3: I'll sing even Big Jenny, welcome back to this one
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: shock shock, this hor shock, Wayne Gandee.
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: The Canadian Grand Prix going on this weekend up in Montreal,
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: and the strippers say they are going to strike guy
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: up in Montreal for this f one event, Big Kenny,
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: command you Greg, they're calling for a.
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: A stripper strikes. Yes, yeah, I guess that is so.
- 1:43:04Speaker 3: No clapping, no twerking, no no, no, let me see it,
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: let me see it, none of that.
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: They think the Grand Prix is the best time to
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: strike because the clubs are at their busiest, making it
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: the most lucrative period you said, the year for their bosses.
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: They want some rights, Big Kenny. They said, they need
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: some rights. They want to be handled as employees. They
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: want to benefit package what part of Canada in Montreal
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: that's a Canadian Grand Prix, And they won't rights.
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: They want the regular employee rights, like a thirty minute
- 1:43:47Speaker 3: lunch break.
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: Like I'm saying now, now, now, listen, listen.
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: I would imagine that every industry has its own set
- 1:43:59Speaker 3: of circumstances that they have to marry with these blanket
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: rules and regulations. I know that most to all of
- 1:44:09Speaker 3: businesses that run in the United States have to offer
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: you at least two fifteen minute breaks and a thirty
- 1:44:15Speaker 3: minute lunch break minimum during the day. But I know
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: it delivery companies like ups they take their breaks standing
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: up because of the conditions of handling packages all day.
- 1:44:30Speaker 3: There's a concern that your muscles will lock up and
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: it'd be difficult to get back to work. I don't
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: know what the specifics are stripping are, but are y'all
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: really finn to try and do like pay time off
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: for stripping? You see, what do you really want dental
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: insurance to go with your stripping?
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: I think they want to get the independent contractor type
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: feel a way, And I wonder, and I was trying
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: to figure out. You know, sometimes you're asking for stuff
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: but then that allows when you when you get out
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: of the independent contractor field and you become a full employee,
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: right then that gives us the company.
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: More leverage, leverage correct of how you do your business. Now,
- 1:45:25Speaker 3: from what I've known, young women who dance, and part
- 1:45:30Speaker 3: of what they saw as the benefit was the independent contractor.
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: I can go to this club and dance for three hours,
- 1:45:37Speaker 3: and if it's lame here, I could pay out and
- 1:45:40Speaker 3: go to another club where it's popping and dance for
- 1:45:43Speaker 3: another three hours. By the time the sun come up,
- 1:45:46Speaker 3: I've danced at four spots and made way more money
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: than I would have at the one spot. But now
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: that I'm an employee, my schedule is eleven PM.
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: To four a m.
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: I have to stay there regards ard less of who
- 1:46:00Speaker 3: cooms and what they're spending. I'm contractually obligated to be here.
- 1:46:08Speaker 3: So I don't know, if you know, sometimes you ask
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: for stuff that you don't really need. And again, I've
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: never stripped, so I don't know what it's like in Canada,
- 1:46:16Speaker 3: But it just seems.
- 1:46:17Speaker 9: Like what they're saying is there are well during this
- 1:46:22Speaker 9: time of year, if it's their busiest, then more more
- 1:46:27Speaker 9: girls are scheduled, so now it's it's overstaffed, so they're
- 1:46:33Speaker 9: not They say that it's hard for them to earn
- 1:46:35Speaker 9: because of that. They talk about the working conditions, the
- 1:46:42Speaker 9: bar fees or club fees that.
- 1:46:45Speaker 3: They have to pay, and.
- 1:46:50Speaker 9: And then dealing with the the I guess protesters as well.
- 1:46:56Speaker 9: So they want better conditions, it seems like, and that
- 1:47:05Speaker 9: they're being that they said they're being exploited with all
- 1:47:09Speaker 9: these different fees.
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: So they basically don't want to have to pay to dance, right,
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: They just want to go be able to go in
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: and dance without that whatever, without fifty two hundred dollars
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: fee to do to do so, yeah, and then tip
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: the bar and but barbers pay for their booth monthly, right,
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: typically the only person.
- 1:47:39Speaker 9: Paying for their boo I don't think it's like they
- 1:47:42Speaker 9: don't want to pay any fees at all, but they
- 1:47:44Speaker 9: fere like they're being exploited with the fees. Oh okay,
- 1:47:50Speaker 9: that they're they're paying too much, Like why are we
- 1:47:52Speaker 9: paying this much?
- 1:47:54Speaker 7: M hm?
- 1:47:54Speaker 3: Well, I guess I don't.
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: And the race is this weekend, correct? I think it's Sunday,
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: Sunday Sunday, So if you're going up to the Grand
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: Prix in Montreal. Looks like you won't be able to
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: get you a don't take no dollars table dance or
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: whatever they do up in Canada for dancing. And we
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: saw this a couple of years ago with the adult
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: film industry. I think out in Vegas they were trying
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: to become more unionized, reunionized, something like that. It was
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: something where they wanted to be seen less exploit as
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: like whatever. I guess, to be able to file different
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: things with the government or if something they were seeking.
- 1:48:45Speaker 3: Like kind of like what kind of like with SAG,
- 1:48:47Speaker 3: I think, yeah, and again sometimes I shrug because it
- 1:48:54Speaker 3: was my understanding that going into these industries, you understood
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: that I'm going to the exploitation business. I am going
- 1:49:04Speaker 3: to make my money being exploited, and what will make
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: me the most money is being the most high profile
- 1:49:11Speaker 3: exploited individual.
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: And yeah, I thought I and I was thinking like you,
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: the biggest advantage was they were being able to take
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: whatever product they were selling and always move it to
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: wherever without the customer was Yes, without restrict I can.
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: Do private parties. I can go right now, I don't
- 1:49:31Speaker 3: have to wait. You can say, hey, come with me.
- 1:49:34Speaker 3: I'll give you fifteen g's and I just grabbed my
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: bag and give two hundred dollars and I'm out.
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: But they want more rights, better work conditions, and no
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: bar fees or lower bar fees. Okay, we'll be back
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: more to sports Talk show, This Instant Coffee, Don't Go Away,
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: or of the.
- 1:50:10Speaker 10: Sports Jock Show with Wayne Dantidia's coming up next.
- 1:50:14Speaker 16: Nobody had to tell your grandparents not to drive all
- 1:50:17Speaker 16: using their typewriters. Why should it be any different for
- 1:50:21Speaker 16: us kids and our cell phones. Distracted driving was the
- 1:50:24Speaker 16: cause of more than three thousand deaths in twenty twenty two.
- 1:50:28Speaker 16: Come on, we're smarter than this.
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: Let's put down the phones and focus on the roads.
- 1:50:33Speaker 17: Drive safe, everybody, don't drive distracted. A message brought to
- 1:50:38Speaker 17: you by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Project yellow Light,
- 1:50:42Speaker 17: and the AD Council.
- 1:50:45Speaker 14: But I smoke, I get lost in the music. I'd
- 1:50:48Speaker 14: like to isolate each instrument, the rhythmic bage, the harmonies
- 1:50:53Speaker 14: on the piano with sticky melody.
- 1:51:00Speaker 19: Careful, babe, there's someone crossing the streets.
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: Sorry, I do um. If you feel different, you drive different.
- 1:51:07Speaker 7: Don't drive high.
- 1:51:09Speaker 3: It's dangerous and illegal everywhere.
- 1:51:11Speaker 7: A message from NITZA and the ad Council.
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: And now back to the Sports John, I'm Wayne Gandy.
- 1:51:23Speaker 27: It's time for the school board when we put a
- 1:51:26Speaker 27: spin on light and sports and how they intermingle on
- 1:51:31Speaker 27: the Sports Jack Show with Wayne Candy.
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: Walk back to this wor Shock Show. I'm this Worshop
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: Wayne Candy. Nice field. We'll be hosting the Bowl and
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: twenty thirty. I'm quite sure they're gonna try to get
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: Taylor Swift to bring it home. I just know you
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: got that field, Nashville New Stadium. Got to break it in,
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: got to got to break in the new stadium. Who better?
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: But who better?
- 1:52:14Speaker 29: Is?
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: You Gotta agree to her terms, though.
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: Nashville will agree to whatever Taylor wants. That's her city.
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: She wants to get paid. Oh yeah, they can get that.
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: You know, that's four more years.
- 1:52:28Speaker 5: Done.
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: As long as she gets paid.
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: It bigur it done. And it's getting to that point
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: where you can see the monetary park growing. I think
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: even now, even the even the artists is starting to
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: look at it almost as like a actual real residency.
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: It's something, it's a piece of component of.
- 1:52:51Speaker 3: Reaping. A lot of benefits. And it used to be
- 1:52:55Speaker 3: uh so it might not be my regular rate, but
- 1:52:58Speaker 3: you know, and it used to be would help me
- 1:53:00Speaker 3: with my ticket sales or whatever. But now your ticket
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: sales are helping my broadcast. Like a Taylor Swift.
- 1:53:07Speaker 9: A lot of Swift don't watch the The NFL gets
- 1:53:11Speaker 9: a piece of their sales, I think six months after,
- 1:53:17Speaker 9: but no one I am probably part of it. Also,
- 1:53:21Speaker 9: why we see more of the bigger name artists is
- 1:53:23Speaker 9: that they get sponsored two or the record label or
- 1:53:28Speaker 9: whoever puts money behind it so they can.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: Yea and Rogers is back as a steller for all
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: my steller faithful. He is in the building today for
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: OTA's forty two year old, deciding to come back and
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: play one more year, so we can put that to
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: bed a Rod back as a stiller. This new Swatch watch,
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: they said they had a lot of lines. It's like
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: a Nike drop. There was a new watch for Swatch
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: ap the ap Watch Watch drop.
- 1:54:04Speaker 3: I know that there was some talk about it dropping,
- 1:54:08Speaker 3: then there was some talk about it being AI generated campaign,
- 1:54:11Speaker 3: then there was talk about it being an actual drop.
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: But it was a lanyard like watch on it like
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: a stop watch type of watch. So this is an
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: update for me where well, they were taking some ap
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: watch that was very expensive and making a real affordable
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: version of it for three four hundred dollars. The one
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: article I saw was just letting people know that this
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: is not a limited watch, that they are restocking and
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: will bring out more, and they are they pocket watches.
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: They were trying to get people to realize that this
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: is not like a limited limited time time frame like
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: like the Jordan.
- 1:54:55Speaker 3: And remember people were upset because they said that they
- 1:54:58Speaker 3: felt like it diminished the value of the actual ap watch,
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: and then they found out it was a pocket watch,
- 1:55:08Speaker 3: and many of them became enraged or upset, which I
- 1:55:13Speaker 3: don't I don't understand that part of it. But relax, people,
- 1:55:18Speaker 3: you can get yours. It won't be gone by the model.
- 1:55:21Speaker 3: It's supposed to be excluded, that brand's supposed to be exclusive.
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: Yeah, but they're saying it's not like a limited addition.
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: They're not like only making a thousand making it affordable. Yes,
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: why and we just made some see if they sold
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: and they're selling, and we'll be replenishing the stocks.
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: Because we might have made a billion dollars selling them exclusively.
- 1:55:44Speaker 3: But now that we've made them affordable, we made a
- 1:55:47Speaker 3: billion dollars in our first three weeks. See, we weren't
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: thinking about you. We weren't thinking about the speaking.
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: Of flex commands. Gregcent story, only fans And why do
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: you think athletes have been so comfortable doing only fans?
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: Because you see it, especially in the non big sports
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: like the Olympic type sports. Things like that. You see
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: a lot of athletes the volleyball, the track and field,
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: the long jump and that kind of thing. They seem
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: to be very comfortable. Well, I don't know exactly what
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: they offer. Yeah, you talked earlier about being in the
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: locker room and how it's common to be in various
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: stages of undressed in front of people in the locker room.
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: So that barrier is eliminated, that mental barriers already eliminated.
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: And now it's only just the people seeing me in
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: my natural environment on their camera. So no one's touching me,
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: no one's around me. So I'm okay being naked.
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: I've got a good physique and I know people will
- 1:57:03Speaker 3: pay to see it, so I'm just you know, this
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: is almost like modeling. This is like swimsuit model, but
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: without the swimsuit, and I've eliminated the middleman.
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: There's no dish. I get all the money myself. My
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: question when you send an article is I always wondered,
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: I understand because that second wave of athlete that is
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: not especially in these sports that are not in that
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: top three or four names, they have to supplement their income.
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: I get that in a lot of them. Hey, you'll
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: be surprised. As I said, in college, you pay the
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: top ten percent of the guys. The other ninety percent
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: are very envious and feel like they're going to find
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: a way. That's why when I was talking about gambling,
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna find a way to keep up with you. Right,
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: you're making a million this year. They're paying me seventy thousand.
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: I'm not necessarily a bad person, but I'm trying to
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: figure out how to make this seventy somewhere close to
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: to your million. On a fan, I know how they
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: jump on from that aspect. I always just wonder, do
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: you think this will hurt their career if at some
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: point they go from being say, in tennis, I was
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: twenty second in the world in a year and a
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: half from now I'm second. Do you think that will
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: hurt their career that they did this only fan part.
- 1:58:24Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:58:24Speaker 9: I don't think so, because what someone's going to find out,
- 1:58:30Speaker 9: like what kind of content are they posting on OnlyFans.
- 1:58:35Speaker 9: Some some it's there, you know, just some training videos
- 1:58:42Speaker 9: you and Q and A's or whatever. Some it's the
- 1:58:45Speaker 9: more adult race of your content. So it depends on
- 1:58:50Speaker 9: what they're posting. May may have an effect, but it
- 1:58:54Speaker 9: probably won't. And then with only fans, you have to
- 1:58:58Speaker 9: first pay to have access. So whatever I'm posting, you
- 1:59:02Speaker 9: can't see it unless someone's paid for access to it.
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: And we are in the ocean. The truth is he
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: will throw your in the ocean.
- 1:59:15Speaker 27: It's time to wrap things up on the Sports Junk Show.
- 1:59:19Speaker 3: With Wayne Andy.
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: Here De Signs of Ocean gives a sportshout testa minute
- 1:59:51Speaker 1: to Vin. We'd like to thank you for tuning in
- 1:59:53Speaker 1: to today's show. Happy Monday to you out there. The
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: NBA Conference finals are said, Hers and Thunder go at
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: it tonight. The Nicks and Calves kick off tomorrow night.
- 2:00:05Speaker 1: That Kenny Comanchi, Greg, thank you for your contributions today.
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: If you missed any of the show today, you can
- 2:00:11Speaker 1: go to Apple Podcasts, Amazon Podcast, Audible, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Spotify
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: catch the replay. If you never watched Zoolander, you missed
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: the treat of a movie. You're talking about something that
- 2:00:27Speaker 1: is delightfully funny, at least to me. The movie zoo
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: Lander and doing his best impression of Derek Zulander is
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: my man, Tom Brady. You gotta see.
- 2:00:40Speaker 3: Tom working the catwalk for goot Jake. You know that
- 2:00:45Speaker 3: face was always going and this is the Tom I want.
- 2:00:49Speaker 3: We get all that pizza hunt man. You don't eat
- 2:00:51Speaker 3: no pizza Hut. He must have heard us, He heard
- 2:00:53Speaker 3: the complaints. Now you look like Thomas Brady, leather all down,
- 2:01:00Speaker 3: looking like Derek zeus Lander.
- 2:01:04Speaker 1: Give him that look, Tom, that looks like the Tom Brady.
- 2:01:08Speaker 1: Don't you get them little cheeks pinched.
- 2:01:10Speaker 3: Together right there? Give you that look, little hilt head
- 2:01:13Speaker 3: tilt right there. I see it right there.
- 2:01:14Speaker 1: You don't see it come in you. He can't see
- 2:01:18Speaker 1: it because he's not looking with his eyes. Tom Brady,
