- 0:00[SPEAKER_02]: Hey friend, welcome back to Bible Track Echoes.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Mike McCurray, your host.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much for tuning in today.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to read a verse or two of scripture for you as we dive right in.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_02]: We've been listening to a message from Dr. Paul Avain from the 1980s.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_02]: He was a wonderful preacher and he's going to bear his heart to us today and this week.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_02]: But let's prime the pump with this verse.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: Sengen Corinthians 4 verse 17.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_02]: for our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding any eternal weight of glory.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_02]: First 18 says, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen, for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_02]: Dr. Paul spent a little while yesterday on the broadcast talking to us about what does everlasting mean?
- 0:56[SPEAKER_02]: Is eternal really eternal?
- 0:59[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what we're going to kind of use as a jumping in point here to today's portion of the broadcast.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_02]: The next voice you're going to hear is Dr. Paul of In from, I guess, let's see here the 80s, 90s.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_02]: early 2000s, 2010s, so we're talking 45 plus years ago now, what we are listening to.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_02]: I believe it's our privilege to do so.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to ask you if you would attune your hearts and minds as Dr. Paul really.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: He gives us both gun barrels, yes, but he does so with love.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_02]: As he asks this question, do you have a soul?
- 1:35[SPEAKER_02]: Listen now.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the sun people don't believe you have a soul.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: I remember reading one time about a very famous Christian lawyers on the train one day and he was trying to witness to a young guy and his young guy turned out to be a smart outlet.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: And this man, the lawyer, Mr. Bennett, was trying to witness this young man.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: And as he talked with him, this young man said, I ain't got no soul.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't have to go to grammar either.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: and so that's what he said and so the lawyers said you don't have a soul and the young man said no I don't know we have a soul and the lawyer says why is it you believe you don't believe you have a soul Well he says young man says I've never seen my soul and I've never seen it since I've never seen it I don't believe I have it
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: Whoa, the lawyers said, you mean now that if you can't see it, you don't believe you have it.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: Boy, he thought he had this lawyer now.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: So, if I can't see it, I don't believe I haven't.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: So, the lawyer says, do you have any brains?
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I guess young men, he may have some brains, you've never seen them.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: But hey, I mean, he wasn't using them, that's for sure.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: Now, young people, you have a soul, you've never seen it, it's going to last forever.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: You have a conscience you've never seen, you felt it, but you've never seen it.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to last forever.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: See, you've never seen love, but love's going to last forever.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: Now, you've never seen love, you've just seen how foolish love makes some people act sometime, but you've never seen the love itself, but love's going to live on forever.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: You've never seen hate, you've seen what hate will do to people, but you've never seen the hate itself, and love, it's under your can't see, it'll exist forever.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, it's under your can't see, it'll live on forever.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: And your conscience, you can't see your conscience, but it'll live on forever.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: You've never seen God, but he lives on forever.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: You've never seen eternity, but that's gonna last forever.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: You've never seen hell, but that's gonna last forever.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: You've never seen heaven, but that's gonna last forever.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: There are a lot of things that you've never seen, and they're gonna last forever.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: Now look, since the things that you cannot see, like heaven and hell and God and eternity, and your soul, since these things that you cannot see, are gonna last forever.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: And since a lot of things that you can see, like your automobile, or your motorcycle, or your baseball glove, or your, your, your, your, your possessions, uh, is the gang you run around with, see, the things that you can see, they're not going to last forever.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: Now, look, since the things that you cannot see, like your soul, like God, like heaven, like hell, like an eternity, they're going to last forever.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: And since the things that you can see,
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: are not going to last forever.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: Don't you think it'd be good sense young people to get less interested in some of the things you can see and get a little more interested in some of the things you cannot see?
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: Because you get all wrapped up in the things that you can't see, they'll come going in and you forget about the things you cannot see and you don't make the right decisions regarding those eternal matters more.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: That can be your eternal room.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like a girl up in Chicago area.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: She was invited to come and hear me preach one night, she was 18 years of age, and she just shrunk her shoulders.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: She said, oh no, she said, I don't have time for that now.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: What do you mean by that?
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have time for that.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: She meant, I don't bother me about little things like that.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: Little things like, God, little things like heaven, little things like hell, little things like eternity.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a little bit of little things like my soul, but don't bother me about little things like that.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm interested in some big things that I can see.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: I can see my automobile.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: I can see the nice party we're gonna have tonight.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: I can see the gang is gonna be there.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's what I can see.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now don't bother me about these little things that I can't see.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm interested in what I can see.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what happened to that girl?
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: Now listen, that very same night.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: While I was preaching, the very same night, she was invited to the meeting.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: She struggled with her shoulders.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: She said, I don't have time for that.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: Now she says, besides her, be plenty of time for that.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: She was only 18.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody dies when they're 18, you know?
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: I should tell her about 98 and so she had nothing to worry about.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: She's going to live a long time.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: plenty of time for that and at very evening while I was preaching she was driving her car it's get it on the pavement it's smacked into another car and five lives were snuffed out including her own I have a picture of the wreck it shows part of her body inside of the car the door open the rest of it's sprawled out on the cool pavement and listen young people at the age of eighteen a young lady went to hell to suffer
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: The awful porters of the dam in everlasting punishment, everlasting fire, because she couldn't get interested in the things she could not see, because she was too interested in the things that she could see.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: Now what God is saying here is that what you can see will come to an end and an opposite of that, the things that you cannot see are, I want you or they have no end.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: Dr. One
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever seen your soul, no?
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever heard your soul, no?
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever smelled your soul, no?
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever tasted your soul, no?
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever felt your soul?
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'll leave a half.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm this doctor says, four of the five senses testify against the fact that you have a soul.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: So the preacher says to the doctor, have you ever seen pain, no?
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever heard pain, no?
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever smelled pain, no?
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever tasted pain?
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever felt pain?
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and the preacher says there are four of the five senses that testify against the fact that there is any pain.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: No, think I threw young people.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: You have a soul that's never going to die, and that soul is going to be somewhere on millions and millions and millions and millions of years, something like either rejoicing with a retained and glory or suffering the tortures of the damned and everlasting punishment and everlasting fire.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: Now there's nobody living who can deny that from the word of God.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: I know guys like Herbert W. Armstrong, and the home is witnessing a bunch of others, can get up and pop off a bite of a listen brother.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: They get a really digging run in the word of God, and they cannot deny this.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: Now let me show you.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: This is the word that God uses when he talks about himself.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: There are many references.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: I want For you was quoting a whole bunch.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm right now, but let me give you just one woman 1626.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: You can mark it down You want a mark down for 10 to the 616 for Peter 510, but in each verse is God refers to himself as a never-lasting God Now hang on to that for a minute ever a last-pin God.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: Let me ask you a question.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: How many of you believe that God is everlasting say man?
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: Alright, that means that God is from everlasting to everlasting.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: You believe that God is an everlasting God, of course, He's an everlasting God.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: Now, when God, now listen to this, when God in the Bible wants a Greek word to describe how long he will exist.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: He uses that same Greek word Ionius, which is the same Greek word that the Lord Jesus Christ used to describe the duration of judgment and fire.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: Then you will attack means young people, please wake up, everybody, if you're not awake, kick yourself on a shins, wake up, maybe somebody else seen you, they may go to sleep too.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: This is important.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: We want you to get this tonight.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: You know what God is saying and teaching in His word?
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: He's teaching this, that if you go to hell,
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: If you die in your sins and go to hell, you will be in hell as long as there's a God in heaven.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it means.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: Or that's serious.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: That is serious.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: When God wants a Greek word to describe how long he will exist, he uses the same Greek word that the Lord Jesus Christ used to describe how long punishment and the fire of hell would exist.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: Well, imagine spending all eternity suffering the tortures, and the terrors, and the agonies, and the horrors of the damned, as long as there's a God in heaven.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that is good, a day like John and me, and if I didn't know for sure that I was saved, and if I didn't know for sure, my sins are forgiven, you couldn't drag me out of this building tonight until I had it settled.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be scared.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, sir, boy, I'd be scared.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: Suppose you talk alone with a heart attack.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you said that doesn't happen to teenagers.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: I know 17-year-old boy dropped over a heart attack when I shoot in basket one day, because it's a big mori-lib, I'm putting it in Michigan.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah sure, I know you'll die when you're young.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: There's a young man 17 years of age, and the preacher was dealing with him trying to get him big set of crafts, and he was with a group, and the preacher had to take a slide picture of him.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: Of that group, he showed it to me later, and he said, you see that nice fucking fellow right there brother Paul, he had it on the screen, I said, yeah, I see, she had a nice looking 17 year old boy, and I said, yeah, I see that boy, when he said, I don't well that boy, I'll play with that boy except he just cries.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: And it wouldn't do it.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: To that boy wasn't interested in what he couldn't see, not interested in God, been on interested in having he's not interested in hell.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: He just interested in what he could see.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: And so...
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: The next evening, 22 hours after the preacher flew to William DeXette Christ 22 hours, he was in a van with a bunch of other young folks, and they drove up on a railroad track to train him and killed everyone of 22 hours after the preacher flew to William DeXette Jesus Christ.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: That 17-year-old boy was instantly killed and went to hell and his doom.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: is sealed and settled forever.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: 17 years of age.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: Now, this same great work is used about the Holy Spirit, who is eternal.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Hebrews 9 and 4.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: It used about the rule of Jesus Christ.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: When Jesus was to be born, the angel said to Mary, of his kingdoms, thinking of this little baby to be born, of his kingdom, there shall be what?
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Anybody know?
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: No end.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's plain enough, and it's no end.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: By this kingdom, there shall be no end.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: And then later on, when Peter wrote about that same kingdom, which the angel said would have no end, take a Peter 1-11, he calls it an Ionia, it's an everlasting kingdom, and over in Daniel, chapter 2 and verse 44, it is described as a kingdom that will never be destroyed.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: Now, if you're going to chop hell down to a million years, or 10 million years, or 50 million years, you've got the chop that kingdom of Christ on the same way.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: And if the kingdom of Christ has no end, and if the kingdom of Christ will never be destroyed, then hell will have no end, and neither will hell be destroyed.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: They're both going to last you, it's a long.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: Now, in the book of John 42 times, you have the expression, everlasting life, eternal life.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's your same word again.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, once you've got young folks, when you get saved, God doesn't put your own probation, you know what he does?
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: He just gives you everlasting life.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: And it's got last forever, saying, God, once you get saved, you have the gift of everlasting life.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I give unto them, He eternal life, and blessed God, they shall never perish.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_02]: friend, what are you more interested in?
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: The things you can see, or the things you cannot see.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_02]: I know this is serious, and you may ask, are you trying to scare us?
- 12:13[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I got to say if the facts of eternity, the facts of hell, the fact of hell scares you,
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that I can help you with that fear, but I can provide I can point you to a way of escape, a salvation, capital S salvation.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_02]: The S is not for Superman, it's for a salvation which only comes through it Jesus Christ.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_02]: I hope anecdotes about young people dying don't scare us as much as what the word of God says.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: And the Bible tells us there is a place called hell.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_02]: And our souls will spend eternity there if we don't accept Christ as our Savior.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_02]: Please, friend, contact us if you have more questions.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: My prayer today, as always, is that you have a great day for His glory.
