- 0:28Speaker 1: goody eras at studio with me, Taylor in the VIP room,
- 0:33Speaker 1: mikey A up in Connecticut, and the folks back at
- 0:37Speaker 1: Sherman Oaks. Is he I have big news for us.
- 0:40Speaker 1: It's very big news. Let's welcome in together. K x
- 0:45Speaker 1: n O one oh six point three FM and fourteen
- 0:49Speaker 1: sixty AM Des Moines sports radio station where we are
- 0:53Speaker 1: on from two to four pm local time in Iowa.
- 0:57Speaker 3: I have no idea. I guess that's an hour back. Yeah,
- 1:00Speaker 3: my favorite.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Thank you to program director Greg Henson for taking on
- 1:04Speaker 1: this train wreck.
- 1:05Speaker 3: We appreciate it.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I want to take phone calls just from Iowa today
- 1:09Speaker 1: eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. That is eight
- 1:11Speaker 1: seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Yes, Taylor, I have.
- 1:15Speaker 4: A massive problem with Iowa right now, and it's Iowa Sam. Yeah, yeah, producer,
- 1:22Speaker 4: Iowa Sam. We're watching Brazil Japan. It's one one in
- 1:26Speaker 4: like the ninety fifth minute. We're all watching the game
- 1:29Speaker 4: before the show starts, and then all of a sudden,
- 1:31Speaker 4: in our ears, we just hear Sam go Brazil, and
- 1:35Speaker 4: we're all looking like nothing has happened on our TV.
- 1:38Speaker 4: So he's very clearly ahead of all of us.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Then thirty seconds go by Brazil scores the most likely
- 1:44Speaker 4: the winning goal.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 4: I think I think Iowa Sam just broke the number
- 1:48Speaker 4: one rule in sports of don't spoil something when you
- 1:52Speaker 4: know you're ahead.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Yeah, he's living that Twitter lifestyle. I gotta be the
- 1:55Speaker 3: first to announce I didn't know I was ahead.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you're clearly in the future. Bro.
- 1:59Speaker 3: What you got watching on tub?
- 2:04Speaker 1: And why aren't you welcoming in all the great folks
- 2:07Speaker 1: from Iowa Iowa Sam, h welcome in? Is this some
- 2:12Speaker 1: sort of celebratory song for them?
- 2:14Speaker 3: I mean, oh, this is a solid bresident. You're right,
- 2:16Speaker 3: it is better off without the welcoming. By the way,
- 2:19Speaker 3: k x n O might be the coolest call letters ever.
- 2:22Speaker 3: You got a k in there, and the next in there.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Come on, now, you throw a que in there.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And then it ends with no, which is one of
- 2:30Speaker 1: the building blocks of sports radio. No Letters eight seven
- 2:38Speaker 1: seven ninety nine. On Fox, Taylor has an NBA hot take.
- 2:40Speaker 3: I want to get right to it.
- 2:41Speaker 1: When Taylor has an NBA hot take, I think that's
- 2:44Speaker 1: where we need to start. Is he has some thoughts
- 2:46Speaker 1: on what's going on with the Golden State Warriors and
- 2:49Speaker 1: the Miami Heat and Kawhi Leonard.
- 2:51Speaker 3: We'll get to that in just a second.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Taylor, go ahead, give us your hot NBA take here Before.
- 2:56Speaker 3: You go, Taylor, Stu, can you confirm with me on this.
- 2:58Speaker 3: I think the reason you're star it is because your
- 3:01Speaker 3: curiosity is killing you and you want to know what
- 3:03Speaker 3: his hot take is. We have other subjects we can
- 3:06Speaker 3: one hundred percent start with yes, but your curiosity it
- 3:08Speaker 3: takes the cake here now.
- 3:09Speaker 1: So if someone dangles a hot take in front of
- 3:11Speaker 1: me right before this radio program starts, everything else I
- 3:16Speaker 1: was thinking, goes to the side and I start with
- 3:18Speaker 1: the hot take. That's all you have to do. You
- 3:20Speaker 1: just have to dangle a hot take in front of me,
- 3:22Speaker 1: any one of you. It could be I with Sam.
- 3:24Speaker 1: It could be Dan Byer, it could be anyone. In
- 3:28Speaker 1: this case, it was Tailor because it's always Tailor, because
- 3:30Speaker 1: he always has hot tails.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Yes, yes he does. Go ahead, Taylor Stu.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Do you remember what you said about the Anthony Davis
- 3:36Speaker 4: Luka Doncrichch trade when it happened at the time.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I said it's a nothing trade. Yeah.
- 3:40Speaker 4: So I'm looking at all the headlines from the NBA
- 3:42Speaker 4: this weekend. The Clippers and Raptors engaging in trade talks
- 3:46Speaker 4: around Kawhi Leonard Okay, kind of a nothing burger. Warriors
- 3:48Speaker 4: are looking to trade Jimmy Butler's contract for Anthony Davis
- 3:51Speaker 4: and sign Lebron James. I'm not really sure that puts
- 3:54Speaker 4: the Warriors over the top. Kind of a nothing burger.
- 3:57Speaker 4: You're looking at more. You keep going down the headlines,
- 4:00Speaker 4: it's trade Myles Bridges to the Suns, Isaiah Hartenstein back
- 4:03Speaker 4: to Oklahoma City, Jose Alvarado back to the Knicks. But
- 4:06Speaker 4: the headline that caught my eye and the move that
- 4:10Speaker 4: I think isn't a nothing burger and a move next
- 4:13Speaker 4: postseason will say, hey, remember when this team made this
- 4:16Speaker 4: move to maybe get them over the hump. Right, the
- 4:19Speaker 4: Pistons getting Isaiah Joe.
- 4:21Speaker 1: It's a big one from the thunder.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Yes, I think I think that was I think you
- 4:24Speaker 4: can make the argument that the Pistons getting a forty
- 4:28Speaker 4: one point five percent three point shooter since twenty twenty two,
- 4:31Speaker 4: twenty twenty three to help Cad Cunningham with the spacing
- 4:35Speaker 4: for that Detroit team, I think you can make an
- 4:37Speaker 4: argument it was the most impactful move. Now I don't
- 4:41Speaker 4: have to the The roosters aren't coming home anytime soon,
- 4:46Speaker 4: so I can kind of just say it and people
- 4:47Speaker 4: are gonna forget I said it like a month from now.
- 4:49Speaker 4: But if they off chance to Isaiah Joe leads the
- 4:52Speaker 4: Pistons to to the Eastern Conference Finals or maybe even
- 4:56Speaker 4: further to the NBA Finals next year, I could kind
- 4:58Speaker 4: of come back to this moment.
- 5:00Speaker 3: That's what you do. You put it out there.
- 5:01Speaker 1: There are no dividends, you're not getting any sort of
- 5:03Speaker 1: payback right now. But if it doesn't come true, you're right,
- 5:06Speaker 1: we'll forget about it. If it does come true, we
- 5:08Speaker 1: will throw it in everyone's faces.
- 5:10Speaker 3: This is how I meant so much of not of
- 5:12Speaker 3: an economics guy. I don't know what the heck of
- 5:14Speaker 3: dividends is Isaiah Joe? Did you know who they had
- 5:16Speaker 3: to not only player, but one player that they got
- 5:18Speaker 3: rid of to get Isaiah Joe in Detroit? Who Isaiah Stewart? Wow,
- 5:23Speaker 3: a couple of Isaiah has got hit out. Not anymore.
- 5:25Speaker 3: They're still on different teams, but one for the other.
- 5:27Speaker 3: But just to be clear so we can sum up,
- 5:30Speaker 3: Taylor Vippolist believes that Kawhi potentially going back to the
- 5:34Speaker 3: Toronto Raptors where he won a championship in twenty nineteen,
- 5:37Speaker 3: completely disrupting the flow of NBA, you know whatever, the
- 5:41Speaker 3: normal flow of things in the NBA. That is a
- 5:44Speaker 3: nothing burger. Lebron James and Steph Curry potentially teaming up
- 5:48Speaker 3: in Golden State is also a nothing burger.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Yep.
- 5:52Speaker 3: But Isaiah Joe two first names to the.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Pistons basing, Yeah, is a huge dent.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Yes, did I get the right Taylor?
- 6:00Speaker 4: He's not an average show.
- 6:02Speaker 3: He is an average Joe. He actually is your average show.
- 6:06Speaker 3: He's not an average Joe by player efficiency rating. He
- 6:09Speaker 3: is a below average show. And I don't think he's
- 6:12Speaker 3: going to be the difference maker for the Piston too.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Were just the one seed in the Eastern Conference. But yeah,
- 6:18Speaker 3: it's a nice take.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I can't wait until he throws that one back in
- 6:20Speaker 1: your face.
- 6:22Speaker 3: All Isaiah Joe needs is one game before it just
- 6:25Speaker 3: gets thrown right back in my face. Literally, those seven threes, Isaiah.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Listen, Taylor, give them credit because everyone's paying attention to
- 6:32Speaker 1: Lebron and Anthony Davis and maybe they're going the Golden State.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Everyone's paying attention to the big names, and Taylor is
- 6:39Speaker 1: paying attention to a little piece, a little part, a
- 6:43Speaker 1: little Isaiah Joe.
- 6:45Speaker 3: You're below average Joe, and he's.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Paying attention to that move because that move could be
- 6:50Speaker 1: a difference maker in the Eastern Conference.
- 6:52Speaker 3: And I give Taylor credit for that, you know, full credit,
- 6:55Speaker 3: just so I can notice that not only did they
- 6:57Speaker 3: trade one Isaiah for another Isaiah, not that that was
- 6:59Speaker 3: the trade, but they also got rid of one guy
- 7:03Speaker 3: with two first names for another guy with two first names.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Isaiah Stuart out Isaiah Joe in Big Day.
- 7:09Speaker 4: And I thought of this take when I was drinking
- 7:11Speaker 4: a cup of Joe were you.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I'm so proud of you.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Look at him, He's so proud of himself.
- 7:19Speaker 1: All right, Mark the tape all right, somebody born out
- 7:21Speaker 1: Ricardo mark the tape. We'll either forget about this or
- 7:25Speaker 1: we'll throw it back in Israel's face in ten months.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Yes, probably gonna be the latter.
- 7:29Speaker 4: But I do have to put my hand up. I
- 7:31Speaker 4: do understand why everybody wants to talk about Kawhi Leonard.
- 7:35Speaker 4: If Kawhi Leonard goes to the Raptors, depending on what
- 7:38Speaker 4: they would have to give up for them, which you
- 7:40Speaker 4: would assume the price wouldn't be crazy because of the
- 7:44Speaker 4: baggage that kind of comes with Kawhi Leonard recently, whether
- 7:47Speaker 4: it's the aspiration mess or just his injury concerns, Like
- 7:52Speaker 4: does that move make the Raptors like, all of a
- 7:54Speaker 4: sudden a title contender?
- 7:55Speaker 1: No?
- 7:56Speaker 3: Well, look, all of it starts with if Kawhi can
- 7:59Speaker 3: play's just say seventy five percent of the games, right,
- 8:02Speaker 3: and if he is available to play, let's say ninety
- 8:05Speaker 3: percent of the games in the playoffs. That's the only
- 8:07Speaker 3: way this even makes any sort of sense or even
- 8:10Speaker 3: makes any sense to discuss, right, If that's the case,
- 8:14Speaker 3: just comparing it to the last team that they had
- 8:16Speaker 3: when he was there, which was Kyle Lowry, probably in
- 8:18Speaker 3: the back end of his prime, right, Pascal Siaka, I'm
- 8:21Speaker 3: probably entering his prime. You still had Marcos sol out there,
- 8:24Speaker 3: you had who Norm Powell was off that bench, They
- 8:26Speaker 3: had a pretty good emogi Og was on that team.
- 8:29Speaker 3: They had a lot of talent around him, depending on
- 8:33Speaker 3: who they have to give up, which you know, I
- 8:34Speaker 3: think reportedly it's Brandon Ingram right at the headlining that trade.
- 8:38Speaker 3: So you're still talking about what an RJ Barrett a
- 8:40Speaker 3: Scottie Barne. You're still talking about, you know, their little
- 8:44Speaker 3: guards that they have over there, which are pretty good.
- 8:45Speaker 3: You're still talking about Jacob Pearl. I don't know if
- 8:48Speaker 3: that is a better team than the team that would
- 8:52Speaker 3: he won a championship with. I also don't know what
- 8:56Speaker 3: the East looks like in comparison, because, let's just say,
- 8:59Speaker 3: hypothetically Kawhi does come back to the Raptors. This East
- 9:03Speaker 3: is getting pretty thick pretty quick, okay, because there's a
- 9:07Speaker 3: lot of teams one through weight, they're gonna feel like
- 9:09Speaker 3: they are good enough to be a playoff team.
- 9:11Speaker 1: The last time Kawhi played seventy plus games in the
- 9:13Speaker 1: regular season was twenty sixteen.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought you were gonna say never, right, Yeah,
- 9:17Speaker 3: it was a long time.
- 9:18Speaker 1: It happened a long time ago. Yes, And the last
- 9:21Speaker 1: time he was a Raptor he played sixty games in
- 9:23Speaker 1: the regular season, but they won the NBA Championship.
- 9:26Speaker 3: It makes you wonder, right, like Kawhi Leonard when it's
- 9:29Speaker 3: all said and done. Yeah, La my hometown. Super attractive.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Hey can they find different ways to pay me where
- 9:35Speaker 3: I can get even more money?
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 9:36Speaker 3: Super attractive. I like that opportunity, is it? Do I
- 9:40Speaker 3: get a little bit of anonymity because I'm not playing
- 9:42Speaker 3: on the Lakers? And yeah, that helps? But don't you
- 9:45Speaker 3: think he would have been way better off just almost
- 9:48Speaker 3: out of sight, out of mind with the Raptors, like
- 9:50Speaker 3: whatever he can give them over the last what was
- 9:52Speaker 3: that nineteen over the last seven years. Okay, maybe he
- 9:56Speaker 3: gets us there again, maybe we even win another one.
- 9:59Speaker 3: But if we don't win a thing doesn't matter. You're
- 10:02Speaker 3: celebrated for life here. I think he would have traded
- 10:04Speaker 3: that off than this experience in La because now it
- 10:07Speaker 3: just stains the rest of his that.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Whole portion of his career because going to that city,
- 10:12Speaker 1: that market, that team, with the amount of money they
- 10:13Speaker 1: were paying him and Balmer make it such a big deal.
- 10:15Speaker 1: They were expectations for Kawhi.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Leonard, expectations for Kawhi Leonard. Not only did he not
- 10:19Speaker 3: live up, but Paul George is elsewhere. And man, you've
- 10:24Speaker 3: got Bill Plashki absolutely murdering, murdering Kawhi Leonard to him,
- 10:29Speaker 3: well deserved. I would say anything that Plashki writes, I'm
- 10:32Speaker 3: on board, I'm behind it. But man, he took down
- 10:35Speaker 3: Kawhi Leonard.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Stu.
- 10:37Speaker 4: Bill Plashk called Kawhi Leonard in his article the worst
- 10:40Speaker 4: free agent signing in LA sports history.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Wow.
- 10:44Speaker 4: His article was the savvy vet coming in and absolutely
- 10:48Speaker 4: dotting the corner of the strike zone with like one
- 10:50Speaker 4: hundred and one mile proud fa he was Jacob Mazerowski.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Yes, Plashkey bought the fastball. He really still has it,
- 10:59Speaker 1: huh so on the back.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Yes, When talking about Kawhi Leonards seven years, one of
- 11:06Speaker 4: the key lines says he has been injured, apathetic, entitled, disconnected,
- 11:12Speaker 4: and generally nothing but a pain in the backsize for
- 11:16Speaker 4: a re energized franchise that deserve so much better.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Yeah, like they they didn't just put all their eggs
- 11:23Speaker 3: in this basket. They circumvented the salary cap and put
- 11:28Speaker 3: that in the basket too, Like they put whatever amount
- 11:31Speaker 3: of money that they wanted to throw at him. Sure
- 11:33Speaker 3: if that was beyond what they could and threw that
- 11:36Speaker 3: in the basket too. And their payoff was what one?
- 11:40Speaker 3: How many playoff appearances are we talking to? Their payoff
- 11:43Speaker 3: was basically nothing.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I'm not certain they deserve better the Clippers, if I'm
- 11:46Speaker 1: being honest with you, I mean, why do they deserve better?
- 11:49Speaker 3: They're the Clippers. They've been terrible for my entire life.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Why would why would I mean, the Celtics deserve better,
- 11:56Speaker 1: the Knicks deserve better, the Lakers deserve better.
- 11:59Speaker 3: The Clippers. They don't deserve better. They deserve exactly what
- 12:02Speaker 3: they got.
- 12:04Speaker 5: As a metsa Jets fan, you should be more, you know,
- 12:07Speaker 5: you should, you should put that more sympathetic.
- 12:09Speaker 1: No, No, I don't have to be no, because I
- 12:11Speaker 1: have the worst and no one has it worse than me.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I'm sorry you think I feel bad for Clipper fans
- 12:15Speaker 1: because they got Kawhi Leonard get out of here.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Yeah, let's be real. The reason that they quote unquote
- 12:21Speaker 3: deserve is because they got a more likable owner who's
- 12:23Speaker 3: spending money and have a new arena. But what else
- 12:26Speaker 3: makes them deserve it? I don't know.
- 12:28Speaker 4: So if I could continue with this La Times article
- 12:31Speaker 4: from Bill plashk yes, he says Kawhi Leonard was more
- 12:34Speaker 4: lame than Anthony Rendon, who signed a two hundred and
- 12:36Speaker 4: forty five million dollar deal with the Angels, more disheartening
- 12:40Speaker 4: than Jason Schmidt, who signed a three year, forty seven
- 12:42Speaker 4: million dollar contract with the Dodgers and appeared in ten games,
- 12:45Speaker 4: more frustrating than Alan Robinson, who signed a three year,
- 12:48Speaker 4: forty six million dollar deal with the Rams and appeared
- 12:50Speaker 4: in ten total games. And he's even a bigger joke
- 12:53Speaker 4: than the Lakers bus twins Timothy Mosgov and Louel dang
- 12:57Speaker 4: who signed big money deals in twenty sixteen, barely made
- 13:00Speaker 4: an impact a single impact play while essentially being kicked
- 13:04Speaker 4: off the team within two seasons.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Wow, man, that cracks me up because all I think
- 13:08Speaker 3: about with Leuell Dang as Wow, he was supposed to
- 13:10Speaker 3: be Lebron's of replacement in Miami and then two years
- 13:13Speaker 3: later he was still another franchise's savior alongside Tima fay Mosca.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I only think of Michael Biamante, the heats in arena
- 13:19Speaker 1: announcer just luel dang, that's all.
- 13:22Speaker 3: That's all I think about.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Yes, one of the points Plashki brings up in this
- 13:26Speaker 4: article too, like.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Miss Plashky, the Thunder Splashky, the Thunder title.
- 13:37Speaker 4: The Thunder title, and the Thunder. I don't want to
- 13:40Speaker 4: call the Thunder a dynasty because I think we made
- 13:42Speaker 4: that mistake this season crowning them a dynasty before. But
- 13:46Speaker 4: they're certainly in their title window. That never happens if
- 13:50Speaker 4: Kawhi Leonard doesn't go to LA, right, because that was
- 13:54Speaker 4: kind of the thing that jumped off trying to get
- 13:57Speaker 4: Paul George from OKC to to LA and the big
- 14:01Speaker 4: piece back there. Not only was it all those picks,
- 14:04Speaker 4: but it was Sga kind of being the cornerstone piece
- 14:07Speaker 4: in that trade.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, what do we joke about certain like
- 14:12Speaker 3: Daron Fox getting a statue outside of MSG. I think
- 14:14Speaker 3: Kawhi deserves one. And okay, see, like that was a
- 14:17Speaker 3: heck of it. That was a heck of a you know,
- 14:19Speaker 3: series of things that happened that benefited Okay.
- 14:22Speaker 1: See, Actually what I said when that Luca trade went
- 14:24Speaker 1: down was it's a nothing trade in the trade we
- 14:26Speaker 1: should all be paying attention to. Was the one the
- 14:29Speaker 1: Kings made with my Girds and the Spurs acquiring d
- 14:32Speaker 1: Aaron five Taylor, I told you, I told you years before.
- 14:36Speaker 1: That's the trade we need to be looking at, because
- 14:38Speaker 1: d Aaron Fox won the Knicks an NBA title. I
- 14:41Speaker 1: have a bat.
- 14:42Speaker 3: This is how stick Atz's brain works. Somewhere in there
- 14:44Speaker 3: back then was d Aaron Fox bouncing around and I'm like,
- 14:48Speaker 3: I don't know why, but this guy is going to
- 14:50Speaker 3: do something huge and it just so happened to me
- 14:52Speaker 3: be a terrible for the team that's playing against my
- 14:54Speaker 3: team in the final.
- 14:55Speaker 4: It's kind of like a psychic who the psychic could
- 14:58Speaker 4: see the vision, but he can't exactly tell you how
- 15:01Speaker 4: the vision ends. He just has like a concept of
- 15:04Speaker 4: a vision where he's like, Darren Fox is going to
- 15:06Speaker 4: deliver a team of title. But when Darren Fox gets
- 15:09Speaker 4: traded to the Spurs, everybody's thinking, oh, he's going to
- 15:12Speaker 4: deliver the Spurs a title. Nope, the psychic just couldn't
- 15:15Speaker 4: see that it was the Knicks being delivered.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Next level thinking exactly right.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe it's like the psychic was hard of hearing
- 15:21Speaker 3: and it's kind of like that joke where the guy's
- 15:22Speaker 3: at the bar. It's like, you think I really asked
- 15:24Speaker 3: for a twelve inch pianist.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Pianist is what he said?
- 15:29Speaker 3: You would take Kawhi Leonard on the heat? No, we
- 15:32Speaker 3: got Giannis, We're good. But you would take Kawhi Leonard
- 15:37Speaker 3: on the heat as an addition?
- 15:38Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 15:39Speaker 3: Sure, I just don't think that's possible. This guy really
- 15:41Speaker 3: likes his money, and there's not a situation where we
- 15:43Speaker 3: could I say, wee, that's twice where the heat can
- 15:45Speaker 3: afford him.
- 15:46Speaker 1: You shouldn't say were I.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Know I shouldn't. I'm only saying that for you. I
- 15:49Speaker 3: literally never say that.
- 15:50Speaker 1: You're a journalist for crying out loud. I mean, Jesus,
- 15:53Speaker 1: it is a mount Rushmore Monday. Mikey A was our
- 15:56Speaker 1: winner last week, so he gets to decide the topic.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Tell the audio it's what the topic is, Tay, do
- 16:01Speaker 1: we have an order yet?
- 16:02Speaker 4: Nope, We're going to randomize it during this next break up.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Okay, so what is the topic this week? Mikey?
- 16:08Speaker 5: Our topic this week is nicknames of teams or groups
- 16:12Speaker 5: in sports.
- 16:14Speaker 3: That's a Stugatt's wheelhouse.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I have three pages of notes on it
- 16:19Speaker 1: and I just found out about.
- 16:20Speaker 3: It three pages. Yes, I was doing research of my own.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Mikey and Stu Goats is sitting there just knee deep
- 16:27Speaker 3: and you know, tabs and this and this and that.
- 16:29Speaker 3: I started my research. Fifteen seconds later, I was like,
- 16:31Speaker 3: I'm done.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm GBT minus five hundred. This week on FANDOL
- 16:35Speaker 1: to win the Mount Rushmore Monday.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gotson Company
- 16:41Speaker 2: Live weekd said three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific on
- 16:45Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Dan is the judge of our Mount Rushmore. Mondays, we
- 16:53Speaker 1: hope that Victor Hovlin back on the show tomorrow. I
- 16:56Speaker 1: am told really, yes, you missed the first one? Is he?
- 16:59Speaker 3: Perhaps you will not miss Taylor?
- 17:03Speaker 1: Do we have an order here for the Mount Rushmore Monday?
- 17:05Speaker 1: Mikey is our champion. He gets to select the topic
- 17:08Speaker 1: this week. Taylor always decides the order randomly.
- 17:12Speaker 4: Yep, so the order is going to be Izy Taylor, Mikey,
- 17:16Speaker 4: Stu and it's team and group nicknames.
- 17:17Speaker 1: All right, is Isy Taylor, Mikey Stu, Iowa, Sam give
- 17:22Speaker 1: me the open thank you there?
- 17:25Speaker 2: Yeah, you the guy with the spreadsheet pretending to work.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Do you find yourself needing a pick me up as
- 17:32Speaker 2: you're dragging and your cubicle start the week? Are you
- 17:37Speaker 2: ready to put the sports back in sports talk? Well,
- 17:42Speaker 2: then you're in luck because every Monday we climbed the mountain,
- 17:46Speaker 2: we talked the legends, and we argue about.
- 17:49Speaker 4: Things the truth.
- 17:52Speaker 3: You just can't handle the truth.
- 17:54Speaker 2: That absolutely do not matter and are completely subjective. This
- 17:59Speaker 2: is about Rushmore Monday Monday.
- 18:03Speaker 1: It is about Rushmore Monday. Here on a Monday, on
- 18:08Speaker 1: a Monday. It's the first Monday we've done this at
- 18:11Speaker 1: Alonzo is he? You are first here?
- 18:14Speaker 3: I have an idea of who you're going to take
- 18:16Speaker 3: you I do?
- 18:17Speaker 1: I write it down, fold it up, the show it
- 18:19Speaker 1: I figure pandering to Dan Dan during.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Go ahead, I'll write it down. You want me to
- 18:25Speaker 3: write it down? Please please write it down?
- 18:26Speaker 1: Hold on? Look, can we get confirmation? There's a golden goose?
- 18:30Speaker 6: There is Every episode from now on there will be
- 18:34Speaker 6: a golden tickets for sure?
- 18:35Speaker 3: Okay, magic Goose?
- 18:39Speaker 4: Is this based on how the team was or how
- 18:41Speaker 4: cool or like, how iconic the nickname is?
- 18:44Speaker 3: It could be an individual nickname.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Am I right? Group. Group.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Oh it's only group. Yes, ah, yes, okay, No, I'm glad,
- 18:53Speaker 3: I asked. I am very glad, I asked. I still
- 18:55Speaker 3: have a great first all right, Taylor, what was your question?
- 18:58Speaker 3: It's a good question, though.
- 18:59Speaker 4: I just want to get clarification from the judge. Is
- 19:02Speaker 4: this based on like how how good the team was,
- 19:04Speaker 4: how iconic the nickname is, how cool the nickname is coolness?
- 19:09Speaker 1: Dan Bayer? Yeah, coolness. Well if he said coolness, he
- 19:12Speaker 1: never does that. We normally don't ask the judge what
- 19:14Speaker 1: he's ranking these that's huge checks my board.
- 19:17Speaker 3: But the judge might be thrown off.
- 19:18Speaker 1: You never know, Yeah, you never know. Maybe it's not coolness.
- 19:22Speaker 3: I mean, I'm so glad I asked that question because
- 19:24Speaker 3: my first pick would have been crazy.
- 19:26Speaker 4: What was your first pick?
- 19:27Speaker 3: Magic?
- 19:28Speaker 1: I wrote that down?
- 19:29Speaker 3: Yeah, well apparently no, cently it's got to be a
- 19:32Speaker 3: team so or a group. So I'm going with the
- 19:34Speaker 3: steel curtain.
- 19:35Speaker 1: I didn't write that down.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Don't love that pick.
- 19:41Speaker 3: That's my picks.
- 19:41Speaker 1: It's too obvious, steel curtain? And was it cool? Was
- 19:44Speaker 1: it still curtain? Cool? Times? It's obvious for a reason.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I mean, is it cool? Preventing teams from scoring. I
- 19:49Speaker 1: don't know.
- 19:50Speaker 3: It's the nickname.
- 19:51Speaker 1: We're talking about it.
- 19:51Speaker 3: We're not talking about what they actually do.
- 19:53Speaker 1: It's up to Dan, not you.
- 19:55Speaker 4: So I had this tie. I had this team ninth
- 19:59Speaker 4: on my big board in terms of overall nicknames. But
- 20:03Speaker 4: since Dan Bayer hinted that he could be based on coolness,
- 20:06Speaker 4: they're jumping all the way to one. For me, it's
- 20:09Speaker 4: Houston basketball, Fi slamon Jama.
- 20:12Speaker 1: That's pretty good. I was pretty listen. That team never
- 20:15Speaker 1: won a national championship. Guy Lewis was the coach or
- 20:18Speaker 1: in my wheelhouse right now, Taylor a game, Elijah on Drexler, Franklin.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I mean that's a good team.
- 20:24Speaker 3: I guess it's cool. Larry Mishaw, I mean that no
- 20:27Speaker 3: idea who that is. If you like fraternities and all
- 20:29Speaker 3: that stuff, I guess it's cool.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I mean, that's a great if you're doing it on coolness,
- 20:35Speaker 1: I mean five Slamma Jama, I'm jealous. Scratch that one off.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Hold on, that's a cool nickname.
- 20:43Speaker 3: There's a still I'm gonna go a different route.
- 20:45Speaker 4: I'm gonna go based on how iconic it was.
- 20:49Speaker 5: So I'm gonna go with dream Team.
- 20:52Speaker 1: It's pretty good.
- 20:53Speaker 4: It's good pick fifth on my big board.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Damn.
- 20:56Speaker 3: They're trying to influence you all the time. They're always
- 20:58Speaker 3: trying to say that my picks are.
- 21:00Speaker 1: When I get to there's a golden place, you usually
- 21:03Speaker 1: have a good pick and then you ruin it. Yeah,
- 21:05Speaker 1: so I'm assuming this is going to be a good pick.
- 21:08Speaker 1: All right, So I have the swing pick here, I
- 21:10Speaker 1: have two for based on this on coolness, fab.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Five, that's my first pick. So that's your pick.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Well, that's my first pick.
- 21:20Speaker 4: Now that Now the team was cool? But was it
- 21:22Speaker 4: the nickname cool? I like to pick just asking questions.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Fab five is pretty cool. Yeah, I know you're asking questions.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I mean, suddenly you turn into a journalist. Man.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Geez twelfth on my big board.
- 21:34Speaker 1: I liked you better when you tell me I Jay
- 21:36Speaker 1: Isaiah Joe was going to make a difference.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Black Mamba was so high on my big boards.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Cant I tell you the one I wrote down? Yes,
- 21:48Speaker 1: killer Bees?
- 21:50Speaker 3: Why are you giving that one away?
- 21:52Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't are you drafting that one? No,
- 21:54Speaker 1: I'm taking I'm gonna uh pander to Dan Dander Legion
- 22:00Speaker 1: of Boom. How about that's legiond of Boom come out
- 22:05Speaker 1: that in there for fun whatever.
- 22:08Speaker 4: That was a great pick, number two of them my
- 22:10Speaker 4: big board, Fab five and Boom. And if since it
- 22:14Speaker 4: was number two of them on big board, do you
- 22:15Speaker 4: think I would have just picked it?
- 22:16Speaker 1: But you didn't. I didn't, but you didn't. You left
- 22:18Speaker 1: it for me, but you didn't. So now it's back
- 22:21Speaker 1: to Taylor or not. Mikey, I'm sorry it goes to me.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Uh And I'm gonna go again.
- 22:26Speaker 5: I'm gonna go more iconic.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna take murderers Row. Of course you are.
- 22:30Speaker 3: I don't even know what team that is. That's great
- 22:33Speaker 3: team that got the Yankees.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Did you hear I heard Ricardo from from from here.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a team that got swept by the Red
- 22:41Speaker 3: Sox over the weekend. No, that's not murderers, that's that
- 22:46Speaker 3: Murderers Row is upset.
- 22:47Speaker 6: It's the Buffalo Bills in the nineteen seventies.
- 22:50Speaker 4: That Yankee team that got swept by the Red Sox
- 22:52Speaker 4: is the inmates running the assignment murder.
- 22:54Speaker 3: They're one back in the A l E.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Terrible.
- 22:57Speaker 3: How could you say that?
- 22:58Speaker 1: Rible?
- 22:59Speaker 6: Terrible?
- 23:00Speaker 1: Jesus, no one cares about the Yankees. By the way, Taylor.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I was just in New York City. You're right, the
- 23:06Speaker 1: Knicks to take it over and no one cares. And
- 23:08Speaker 1: New York can go twenty years without winning anything and
- 23:10Speaker 1: no one would care about it.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Seriously, there's saying beast mode is not one of my options.
- 23:15Speaker 4: So with my round two pick, I'm going to go
- 23:18Speaker 4: to hockey. Surprisingly really, I'm going to go to the
- 23:21Speaker 4: Philadelphia Flyers. Broad Street Bully, broad Street Bully just mean,
- 23:28Speaker 4: memorable fits, the team identity checks all the boxes, does it?
- 23:32Speaker 1: Really?
- 23:32Speaker 3: That's up to Dan get I said, sorry, I'm shook.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Make sure we asked Dan if that checks all the boxes.
- 23:39Speaker 1: At the end, you got two picks?
- 23:41Speaker 5: Here is he?
- 23:42Speaker 2: Is it me?
- 23:42Speaker 3: Okay, you're shook it you got to I'm shook. And
- 23:45Speaker 3: I'm going to take a very colorful group, the Purple
- 23:47Speaker 3: People Leaders terrible.
- 23:49Speaker 4: I think this is one of the worst names.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Purple Yeah, one of them.
- 23:53Speaker 3: They're purple and they eat people. At least I know
- 23:55Speaker 3: what team that was on. And holy guacamole, I'm going
- 24:01Speaker 3: between two basketball and nicknames and I'm going with the
- 24:05Speaker 3: recency bias. I'm gonna say Splash Brothers.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Okay, it's pretty good.
- 24:10Speaker 3: It was I'm not gonna tell you. You know what,
- 24:11Speaker 3: I'm gonna go ahead and tell you, because you guys
- 24:13Speaker 3: can leave it there for me, you cannot. But that
- 24:15Speaker 3: was ahead of the bad Boy Pistons, all right.
- 24:22Speaker 4: So funny enough really to just double check and make
- 24:26Speaker 4: sure nobody picked U no is he mentioned the nickname Magic.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I was.
- 24:31Speaker 4: I'm shocked he didn't get he didn't just go with
- 24:34Speaker 4: this team instead. Yep, the Showtime Lakers, Showtime.
- 24:37Speaker 1: It's pretty good.
- 24:39Speaker 3: It's fine. It's no steel curtain.
- 24:41Speaker 4: You're right, it's better.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Could they score steel is steel Steelers.
- 24:46Speaker 3: It's in the name, you know, making sure tailores.
- 24:51Speaker 1: No, no, no, no no.
- 24:52Speaker 3: That was on the Mounta Rushmore of first round picks.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Absolutely was mikey A.
- 25:00Speaker 7: I was considering the bad Boy Piston since as he
- 25:03Speaker 7: mentioned them. But I just really love this name and
- 25:06Speaker 7: maybe maybe it's just something for me. I love Monsters
- 25:09Speaker 7: of the Midway.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Great, Mike. I'm so debating taking the sack exchange here.
- 25:16Speaker 2: It's a great name.
- 25:18Speaker 5: Absolutely fantastic name.
- 25:22Speaker 1: All right, I have a great name. Before I get
- 25:24Speaker 1: to my last pick, I have two picks here. Run TMC.
- 25:27Speaker 1: That's my first one and something borde from debating between
- 25:33Speaker 1: the sack exchange the Big Three.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Don't no, no, no, no, no, let's not call out
- 25:41Speaker 3: all the names. So we have dueling Golden State Warriors
- 25:44Speaker 3: backcourt nicknames, the Splash Brothers versus run TMC.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Yes, oh, the Hobbs, the Smurfs.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Anybody gonna take the Grit and Grind Grizzlies.
- 26:00Speaker 1: No, great player, yeah, good defensive flip. I'm gonna take
- 26:08Speaker 1: the Bash Brothers. After all that, I am taking the
- 26:12Speaker 1: Bash Brothers. It's a good name. It's a cool name,
- 26:14Speaker 1: Bash Brothers. It's my fourth cool name.
- 26:17Speaker 4: Shirtis I think this is coming down to me and Mikey.
- 26:26Speaker 4: I'm sure this is coming down to me.
- 26:28Speaker 1: And my run TMC.
- 26:31Speaker 5: I'm gonna I'm gonna take a big swing here, Taylor.
- 26:34Speaker 5: I'm going with the Greatest Show on to That's where
- 26:38Speaker 5: I was.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Just gonna go out about them, for damn.
- 26:42Speaker 4: It's great pick, Jesus, I think.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Great show on turf, not even the best nickname of
- 26:53Speaker 3: the greatest Show on blank.
- 26:57Speaker 1: It's so bad.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Not mad yet, I'm still gonna win this. This is
- 27:01Speaker 3: not that you would strong defense, steel curtain, purple people leaders.
- 27:06Speaker 1: All right, So we were just hoping for a golden
- 27:08Speaker 1: Next Taylor's left.
- 27:10Speaker 4: This is another one that is he mentioned and for
- 27:12Speaker 4: some reason he's He's is he has mentioned more good
- 27:16Speaker 4: team nicknames than he has picked this Dred wrong. The
- 27:20Speaker 4: bad Boy pistons Man.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a good pick. It is bad boys come
- 27:28Speaker 3: out clay. But if ever a nickname kind of summarized
- 27:34Speaker 3: what they were, I mean, they're pretty good.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Was a bad boy? Pretty good? Is it?
- 27:40Speaker 3: Mikey? Next?
- 27:41Speaker 1: Ye? Last? Killer Bees are good? But they didn't kill it?
- 27:47Speaker 1: Is it just me?
- 27:48Speaker 4: Yep?
- 27:49Speaker 3: So it's I'm choosing between the four Horsemen.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Oh that's good, Jesus.
- 27:55Speaker 3: But the one that I'm actually gonna pick, I like
- 27:57Speaker 3: better just because it's obviously more recent than the Four Horsemen.
- 28:00Speaker 3: The Big Red Machine. That's really good, all right, more winner.
- 28:06Speaker 4: It's it's it's rare to go more recent and then
- 28:08Speaker 4: still end up in sev It's unbelievable.
- 28:12Speaker 3: What a decade I was born in that decade I
- 28:13Speaker 3: left so.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Many on the table.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Jail Blazers, Yeah, yeah, great one.
- 28:19Speaker 4: It's the Mockery, the Liddle Empire.
- 28:21Speaker 1: The name Defense is not bad, although again it's the Hogs,
- 28:24Speaker 1: the no name Defense.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Yeah, the Heatles, Yeah, all the Heatles, well, the Big Three,
- 28:30Speaker 3: the Redeemed Team.
- 28:31Speaker 1: All right, Dann Bayer, what do we think here? What
- 28:34Speaker 1: are we thinking? Actually?
- 28:36Speaker 6: I just want to I want to start out with
- 28:37Speaker 6: a question, and this is to Taylor. Taylor, what year
- 28:41Speaker 6: were you born?
- 28:43Speaker 4: Nine four?
- 28:44Speaker 1: Okay?
- 28:44Speaker 6: So I'm just trying to decipher if Taylor is rich
- 28:47Speaker 6: in sports history or if he's one of those poser
- 28:50Speaker 6: kids nowadays who wears Nirvana t shirts or wears you know,
- 28:55Speaker 6: because all of Taylor's were Wade, he wasn't even born
- 28:58Speaker 6: yet when these names were pop So I thought that
- 29:01Speaker 6: that was interesting. I think that Mikey a is top
- 29:05Speaker 6: shelf in a lot of his dream team Monsters of
- 29:09Speaker 6: the Midway, But neither of those two had the golden ticket,
- 29:12Speaker 6: which was picked and was picked in the third round,
- 29:15Speaker 6: and it was picked.
- 29:18Speaker 3: By a person.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Thing.
- 29:23Speaker 6: Uh, yes, that's what I was trying to get to,
- 29:25Speaker 6: by a person who decided to go with a team
- 29:27Speaker 6: by the Bay, and that would be Stu Gotts Run
- 29:32Speaker 6: TMC was the golden ticket today in the Battle of
- 29:36Speaker 6: the Warrior nicknames.
- 29:38Speaker 3: So Stu is top two.
- 29:40Speaker 6: You guys also left out Pony Express, which I am
- 29:43Speaker 6: a fan of early nineteen eighties SMU. Lethal Weapon three
- 29:47Speaker 6: at Georgia Tech was another good one, but the golden
- 29:49Speaker 6: ticket was run TMC. So Stu's in the top two. Gosh,
- 29:56Speaker 6: this is this is really tough. Five slamm a Jama
- 29:59Speaker 6: is good. It's between Taylor and Stu for the top
- 30:02Speaker 6: two spots. So is a year four Mikey three. I
- 30:06Speaker 6: hate the Fab five. They ruined my childhood, the Fab five.
- 30:11Speaker 6: Can I have known that at Boom Taylor is the winner?
- 30:14Speaker 6: Five Slama Jama and I will I will believe that
- 30:18Speaker 6: Taylor loves history and didn't just want to be trendy.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I mean, how am I to know they ruined your childhood?
- 30:29Speaker 1: You know what?
- 30:29Speaker 3: I realized my mistake. Three of my four teams are
- 30:32Speaker 3: from the seventies, three other four from the seventies.
- 30:37Speaker 6: Not knowing the topic, the winner almost came down to
- 30:42Speaker 6: my Murderers Road joke. Whoever laughed the loudest was almost
- 30:45Speaker 6: going to win. But I didn't think that that would
- 30:47Speaker 6: be fair.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
- 30:52Speaker 2: Live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific.
- 30:58Speaker 1: I blurted out during the break that there was a
- 31:00Speaker 1: cookie cake in the kitchen overrated? Really? Oh yeah, Taylor
- 31:06Speaker 1: put it on the pole.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Cookie cake overrated.
- 31:08Speaker 4: Just give me a cookie better in principle than in practice?
- 31:11Speaker 1: What Taylor put it on the pole?
- 31:15Speaker 3: Yeah, well you're right, you're the expert here, Taylor.
- 31:18Speaker 1: What was the phrase you just used? There?
- 31:20Speaker 4: Better in principle than in practice? Cookie cake too, But
- 31:23Speaker 4: it would just never be my first choice cake.
- 31:26Speaker 3: I was in the kitchen. That's very dangerous with a
- 31:28Speaker 3: couple of box of donuts. Yeah, I could absolutely murder
- 31:31Speaker 3: an entire box.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Well, these are the reasons I came back to radio.
- 31:33Speaker 1: A cookie cake and a couple of boxes of donuts.
- 31:36Speaker 4: Yes, there's nothing sadder though, than the last couple of
- 31:39Speaker 4: donuts in an assorted donut box?
- 31:41Speaker 1: Right, terrible?
- 31:45Speaker 4: Are they always the same donuts?
- 31:46Speaker 1: Yes, they're always those plain ones.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Yes they were left there for a reason.
- 31:50Speaker 4: Yeah, like you opened an assorted box of donuts and
- 31:54Speaker 4: you see two donuts left, Just close the box. You're
- 31:56Speaker 4: not gonna grab either one.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Of those, the donuts that no one else wanted.
- 32:00Speaker 4: The irrelevant of donuts.
- 32:02Speaker 3: If you're ever in that situation again, give those one
- 32:06Speaker 3: of those donuts to try, because a bad donut is
- 32:09Speaker 3: not really a bad donut. You will be one hundred
- 32:11Speaker 3: percent surprised about how by how good that last donut is.
- 32:15Speaker 4: It's like it's always the ones that are like so
- 32:18Speaker 4: chalky and like like a cinnamon powder on it and
- 32:21Speaker 4: nothing else, and you're just eating it and it's like
- 32:23Speaker 4: you're just coughing. It feels like you're doing the cinnamon Challenge.
- 32:25Speaker 4: You're just like you go to the wrong dome.
- 32:27Speaker 1: I think he's right, it's the last pick in the
- 32:29Speaker 1: NFL draft.
- 32:31Speaker 3: See.
- 32:31Speaker 5: The problem is when the cinnamon powder is sad for
- 32:34Speaker 5: so long and it just becomes like a cinnamon paste.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Yes, yea, the rock Party of donuts.
- 32:40Speaker 4: Very very rarely does mister irrelevant turn into Brock Party.
- 32:45Speaker 4: So to is he's point, Maybe you're going to catch
- 32:47Speaker 4: a good donut every once in a while. I would
- 32:50Speaker 4: say the last donut in a box once every fifty donuts.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe, I mean there was one. Maybe I'm just
- 32:57Speaker 3: recncy biased here, but recently not that I'm a huge
- 33:00Speaker 3: consumer of donuts. I love them, but I can't eat
- 33:02Speaker 3: them too much. There was one final donut and it
- 33:04Speaker 3: looked like dry and like speckled with like blueberry something,
- 33:09Speaker 3: and I was like, that's not going to be a
- 33:10Speaker 3: good donut and I give it a dry Anyway, it
- 33:12Speaker 3: was lovely. It was amazing, and I was like, you
- 33:15Speaker 3: know what, I'm going to get the last donut a
- 33:17Speaker 3: chance next.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Time again, Taylor, what happened with the Uruguay It teas
- 33:20Speaker 1: that last segment. I never got back to it. What
- 33:23Speaker 1: happened with the Uruguay soccer team? What's going on there?
- 33:25Speaker 7: So?
- 33:26Speaker 4: Uruguay came into the World Cup rank sixteenth in the world.
- 33:30Speaker 4: They didn't make it out of the group. Their group
- 33:33Speaker 4: included Spain, Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia. They were a
- 33:36Speaker 4: massive favorite to it. It was supposed to be them
- 33:40Speaker 4: in Spain to get out of the group. And you
- 33:41Speaker 4: look at Cape Verde who got out. Cape Verde just
- 33:45Speaker 4: drew three times, like that's all. It really took three
- 33:47Speaker 4: points to get through. Now, more than ever, teams are
- 33:50Speaker 4: getting through out of the group because they are taking
- 33:53Speaker 4: a certain amount of third place teams, so you get
- 33:55Speaker 4: to that number of thirty two teams. They came into
- 33:59Speaker 4: the tournament as a potential dark horse. After they lose
- 34:02Speaker 4: to Spain to seal their fate of not going through
- 34:06Speaker 4: to the knockout stage. They were scheduled to return to
- 34:08Speaker 4: South America via a private charter jet. The Uruguay Football
- 34:13Speaker 4: Association canceled and said, you guys could fly back commercial.
- 34:17Speaker 3: They don't deserve it.
- 34:18Speaker 4: They got a frontier flight.
- 34:22Speaker 3: That's insane behavior.
- 34:25Speaker 4: Spirit used to be the joke there and is isy.
- 34:29Speaker 4: I know what everybody's thinking, how do you fix a
- 34:32Speaker 4: toxic culture, because Uruguay right now has a toxic culture.
- 34:35Speaker 4: You take away the charter flight. I'm sure that'll show
- 34:38Speaker 4: that team.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Economy and yes economy, yes back ross and middle seats
- 34:43Speaker 1: for everyone.
- 34:44Speaker 3: I was watching, or somebody posted some Korean news organization
- 34:49Speaker 3: and they were, I guess, running a live broadcast of
- 34:54Speaker 3: the postgame interviews for the Korean team, which was another disappointment,
- 34:57Speaker 3: right Taylor, They lured the faces of the players so
- 35:02Speaker 3: as not to get the Korean people angry with them.
- 35:05Speaker 3: That's how embarrassing that was.
- 35:07Speaker 1: But this was even worse.
- 35:10Speaker 4: So the people from Uruguay have come out and try
- 35:13Speaker 4: to defend why they canceled the chartered flight, and their
- 35:17Speaker 4: reasoning does make sense. They said they canceled the charter
- 35:20Speaker 4: flight or the people's explanation for why they think they
- 35:24Speaker 4: canceled this chartered flight is the level of embarrassment of
- 35:27Speaker 4: not making out of the group. Uruguay fans would know
- 35:30Speaker 4: when a chartered flight is getting back to the country,
- 35:34Speaker 4: and they'd be there to harass the players, you know,
- 35:36Speaker 4: throw things at the players when they get off the plane.
- 35:39Speaker 4: This way, you don't necessarily have a schedule, and players
- 35:43Speaker 4: are getting in on staggered return trips. But also at
- 35:46Speaker 4: that point, somebody like Darwin Nunia is the striker for Uruguay,
- 35:50Speaker 4: he's just by himself, by himself on a plane, and
- 35:54Speaker 4: he doesn't really have his teammates there to protect them.
- 35:56Speaker 3: How many flights are where'd they play? How many flights
- 35:58Speaker 3: are there from wherever they play? To you that you
- 36:00Speaker 3: can't just figure it out?
- 36:02Speaker 1: Yes, go ahead, mikeel So, I just looked it up.
- 36:05Speaker 5: The last game was in Guadalajara, And just so we're clear,
- 36:08Speaker 5: that is anywhere from a fifteen and a half to
- 36:11Speaker 5: a nineteen and a half hour flight, depending where in Uruguay.
- 36:14Speaker 1: You're going, Wow, when coach in a middle seat by yourself.
- 36:19Speaker 3: Do you think they're sitting there in that middle said yeah,
- 36:21Speaker 3: this is what I deserve. Definitely should have made it
- 36:23Speaker 3: past the group stage. But it's a great ex Yes,
- 36:26Speaker 3: it's a heavy player.
- 36:27Speaker 1: No pun intended to say, hey, we're concerned about our
- 36:30Speaker 1: players because if we put them all on different flights
- 36:33Speaker 1: and middle seats in the last row, no one's gonna
- 36:35Speaker 1: know when they're each arriving, and even if they knew,
- 36:37Speaker 1: no one's gonna stick around to arrass all of them.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Hey, you're how about you support your players and rather
- 36:42Speaker 3: than just hey, you guys are on your own, save yourselves,
- 36:45Speaker 3: how about you get a little extra security for when
- 36:47Speaker 3: they do fly in on their private play and say, hey,
- 36:49Speaker 3: we love these guys, these are our countrymen. Stay the
- 36:52Speaker 3: heck away. How about you get out of the group.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Yeah, it was Cape Verde with a forty year old
- 36:58Speaker 4: goaltender Arabia that the cape Verde knows how to draw
- 37:02Speaker 4: like that, there's some dramatic draws from that team.
- 37:05Speaker 3: You can't really give the other should flying to Cape
- 37:07Speaker 3: Verde their heroes there?
- 37:08Speaker 5: I mean, so I'm looking it up. There's an eight
- 37:12Speaker 5: thousand dollars flight. It leaves at six forty am. It
- 37:15Speaker 5: connects at George Bush International. I believe that's in Houston, Yes,
- 37:19Speaker 5: and then goes to Takumen International Airport in Panama. And
- 37:25Speaker 5: then the next day you arrive at seven to twenty
- 37:28Speaker 5: am at Carrasco International Airport.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Huh, just a three leg trip for eight grand. So
- 37:33Speaker 4: these guys are so rich and so influential in Uruguay
- 37:38Speaker 4: that if I'm them and you cancel the chartered flight
- 37:41Speaker 4: back to Uruguay, I'm not really in a rush to
- 37:44Speaker 4: get back to Uruguay.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:45Speaker 4: I think I'm taking this as an opportunity. I'm getting
- 37:48Speaker 4: on the first flight to you know, some tropical island that, yes, Guadalajara, Tonululu.
- 37:55Speaker 4: Please first class, just.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Stay in the state. We don't care.
- 38:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, they could just afford their own private
- 38:06Speaker 3: jet and go wherever the heck they want to go.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Oh man, is he I'm intrigued a little bit about
- 38:12Speaker 3: what's going on.
- 38:13Speaker 1: I am. I have to be honest with you about
- 38:15Speaker 1: Golden State. Step yes, steph sur soccer. Well, now listen,
- 38:20Speaker 1: I'm done with soccer. I've owned the World Cup. I mean,
- 38:23Speaker 1: no one has predicted more games correctly than I have.
- 38:25Speaker 3: Okay, let me get my last World Cup observation out.
- 38:28Speaker 3: I wrote down here. England looks like an entire team
- 38:31Speaker 3: that is bad at sex. That's how they played soccer.
- 38:33Speaker 3: All right, I'm done with World Club AVACS World Cup observation.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Hold on note now I'm interested. I'm back to soccer again. Okay,
- 38:39Speaker 1: you have England is a team that looks terrible at
- 38:41Speaker 1: having sex every year? What do you mean? Just like
- 38:44Speaker 1: they're like.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Superstars, but they're all like kind of stiff, and they're
- 38:47Speaker 3: all just kind of looking out for their own thing
- 38:49Speaker 3: every once in a while and then hey, if something
- 38:51Speaker 3: great happens at the end, fantastic. But they just they
- 38:54Speaker 3: come across as a team.
- 38:55Speaker 4: It's just bad in bed.
- 38:56Speaker 1: I think stiff would be a positive.
- 38:59Speaker 4: I mean, I'm seven percent English.
- 39:03Speaker 3: I don't really have it against you.
- 39:04Speaker 4: I don't really have a rooting and I don't really
- 39:07Speaker 4: have a rooting interest though this World Cup. Like I
- 39:09Speaker 4: got my results back from whatever site. It was twenty
- 39:12Speaker 4: three men. I didn't really want to give them free
- 39:14Speaker 4: promo there, but I still said it. Anyways, seven percent English.
- 39:17Speaker 4: I got that back hoping that I would get, you know,
- 39:19Speaker 4: some rooting interest from the World Cup. When I saw
- 39:22Speaker 4: seven percent English, I was like, I really don't want
- 39:23Speaker 4: to root for this team.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Mikey is so proud of his seven percent less good
- 39:29Speaker 1: in sex joke. Anyway, back to Golden States, please. I'm
- 39:35Speaker 1: intrigued by Anthony Davis, Steph Curry, Lebron James Draymond Green.
- 39:39Speaker 1: I'm intrigued to see if they could stay healthy, which
- 39:41Speaker 1: they probably can't. I'm intrigued to see if they did
- 39:44Speaker 1: stay healthy, even for sixty plus games, right, which would
- 39:48Speaker 1: be a miracle for Anthony Davis, if that team would
- 39:51Speaker 1: be any good.
- 39:51Speaker 3: And so I am intrigued.
- 39:53Speaker 1: It's like, you know, you're bringing cagey vets together and
- 39:56Speaker 1: you're seeing if they could do it one last time.
- 39:58Speaker 1: And I think the NBA would well welcome that, and
- 40:00Speaker 1: I think fans would like to see if that could happen.
- 40:02Speaker 1: You know.
- 40:03Speaker 3: The funny part about the intriguing part is if they
- 40:06Speaker 3: can stay healthy. So we're all just waiting for game
- 40:09Speaker 3: maybe too and be like, Wow, they all played seventy games.
- 40:11Speaker 3: That's amazing. Look spoiler alert, if they all play a
- 40:14Speaker 3: bunch of games, it's gonna be a good team. But
- 40:16Speaker 3: I'm gonna back that up with another spoiler alert. Not
- 40:18Speaker 3: gonna happen. It's just not gonna happen that way. Not
- 40:21Speaker 3: only is Anthony Davis, you know, famously infamously the most
- 40:24Speaker 3: fragile player in NBA history, Steph Curry's had some seasons
- 40:27Speaker 3: where he's missed a bunch of games. Yes, Draymond Green
- 40:30Speaker 3: is not getting any younger. He's going to have to
- 40:32Speaker 3: play as hard as ever to be in championship contention. Again,
- 40:35Speaker 3: He's gonna miss a bunch of games. I just don't
- 40:38Speaker 3: really see that happening. And if you do put that
- 40:40Speaker 3: team together, who's the guy that's still gonna have to
- 40:42Speaker 3: carry them when it matters again? Third spoiler alert, It's
- 40:45Speaker 3: not gonna be Anthony Davis. It's gonna be Steph Curry one,
- 40:48Speaker 3: Lebron James two. I just if I'm Lebron James, and
- 40:52Speaker 3: I'm looking at my final season to be a final
- 40:55Speaker 3: championship or sort of the best fun most funny year
- 40:59Speaker 3: I've ever had. He might have some fun playing with Steph,
- 41:02Speaker 3: of course, but playing with Golden State under somebody else's championship,
- 41:07Speaker 3: you know, or somebody else's dynasty, with the demands that
- 41:11Speaker 3: come along with playing for that organization with Draymond Green
- 41:15Speaker 3: next to you doing some crazy stuff, and then you're
- 41:17Speaker 3: gonna get frustrated with Anthony Davis again. It's just gonna happen.
- 41:21Speaker 3: He frustrated you when you were in LA together, even
- 41:23Speaker 3: though you want a title, He's going to frustrate you again.
- 41:26Speaker 3: If I'm Lebron James, I'm looking for a more certain
- 41:28Speaker 3: with a lot less you know, a lot less age
- 41:31Speaker 3: issues and a team that can, you know, give me
- 41:33Speaker 3: a championship chance. And I think the Warriors, even with
- 41:36Speaker 3: that group, you could say, yeah, Western Conference finals probably,
- 41:39Speaker 3: But there are some young, hungry athletic teams in the
- 41:42Speaker 3: Western Conference. I just don't know if they're gonna they're
- 41:44Speaker 3: gonna fly.
- 41:45Speaker 1: So I think the only thing Lebron is thinking about
- 41:47Speaker 1: in this final season, if indeed it's his final season,
- 41:50Speaker 1: is how do I tack on another championship? Where can
- 41:52Speaker 1: I go? Whether it's staying in LA, whether it's going
- 41:55Speaker 1: to Golden State, whether it's coming to Miami, whether it's
- 41:58Speaker 1: going back to Cleveland. Where can I go that gives
- 42:02Speaker 1: me the best chance of winning a fifth ring? And
- 42:05Speaker 1: so I'm asking you, of the teams available, which team
- 42:09Speaker 1: gives him the best chance of winning that fifth ring?
- 42:12Speaker 3: Well, I mean every team's available, right.
- 42:14Speaker 1: He could go in, Well, the teams that people are talking, right, so.
- 42:16Speaker 3: You're basically discussing the Golden State Warriors, the Miami Heat,
- 42:20Speaker 3: who else? The Cleveland cavalitys saying Cleveland Cavaliers, I believe,
- 42:25Speaker 3: I want to say staying with the Lakers is pretty
- 42:27Speaker 3: much out of it right now. Okay, but let's just
- 42:29Speaker 3: say those three teams. I think naturally, if you're just
- 42:32Speaker 3: looking at if the rosters were to stay the same,
- 42:35Speaker 3: I would say, what the best sidekick of those three
- 42:38Speaker 3: situations would be? What Donovan Mitchell.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Am? I right? I mean sidekick you're you're basing that
- 42:46Speaker 1: is Lebron the sidekick to Donovan Mitchell.
- 42:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right, it would be It would be steph though, right,
- 42:50Speaker 3: it'll probably be in never mind, it would be honest,
- 42:52Speaker 3: it would be yeah to me. Look, I think their
- 42:54Speaker 3: games might not match, their games might not be the
- 42:57Speaker 3: perfect fit. But I think a trio of let's say
- 43:00Speaker 3: four people, right, because Andrew Wiggins signed in there too,
- 43:02Speaker 3: but johannist at the Koupo Bam out of Bayo, Lebron,
- 43:05Speaker 3: James Andrew Wiggins. What the Heat have to offer in
- 43:07Speaker 3: that point, and you know that that pat Riley's not
- 43:09Speaker 3: going to leave that alone. If he brings in Lebron,
- 43:12Speaker 3: He's gonna try to, you know, fill that team with
- 43:15Speaker 3: as much talent as possible. True, I think Miami makes
- 43:17Speaker 3: a ton of sense. I think Cleveland makes sense just
- 43:19Speaker 3: in terms of basketball on the pieces. I just don't
- 43:21Speaker 3: know if that's the location for him. I don't know
- 43:23Speaker 3: if that's as much of a sure thing. You don't
- 43:25Speaker 3: have the honest you have a Donovan Mitchell, but what
- 43:26Speaker 3: has he really done in the playoffs.
- 43:28Speaker 4: With the Warriors trying to acquire Anthony Davis from the Wizards,
- 43:32Speaker 4: the one piece that I hope they don't have to
- 43:34Speaker 4: get rid of is Yaxell Lendenberg because when the Warriors
- 43:37Speaker 4: drafted him, it felt like that was almost them signaling, hey,
- 43:40Speaker 4: we're still trying to do this win now mode for
- 43:42Speaker 4: Steph Curry, because Yaxell came in as one of the
- 43:46Speaker 4: oldest players in the draft, but as one of the
- 43:48Speaker 4: most NBA ready guys. But Jaxel Lendenberg, every time he talks,
- 43:53Speaker 4: he is he is the least media trained person in
- 43:55Speaker 4: the NBA, to where he's just gonna always say what's
- 43:58Speaker 4: on his mind. He gets drafted by the Warriors, he says, yeah,
- 44:00Speaker 4: I grew up a kyrie, irving guy. I hated Steph Curry.
- 44:04Speaker 4: And then when he was talking about Steve Kurry, he
- 44:06Speaker 4: was like, Steve curt normally doesn't play rookies, but you're
- 44:08Speaker 4: looking around at this team. I have a good chance
- 44:10Speaker 4: to play. I have a good chance to start
