- 0:07My wallet is sobbing. I can hear it.
- 0:09I can hear it in the hall now. It is breaking down crying.
- 0:19It turns out that Attila the arrogant so and so he's got a
- 0:22fake hammer. Oh.
- 0:24A fake Whoa. As I say, Dick.
- 0:33Welcome to episode 96 of the Allegiance podcast.
- 0:38The the one before the one before Christmas, I think we
- 0:41call this one. And this week we're going to
- 0:44look back at our predictions from episode 47, which was the
- 0:48first one we did in 2024. So when I got through all the
- 0:53pimping of our Patreon we did in that episode, I found that we
- 0:56did some predictions in the last 30 minutes of it.
- 0:58So, you know, if you're going back to listen to that, but I
- 1:01have plenty of clips here tonight that we're going to play
- 1:03and we're going to go through. I had to obviously listen to
- 1:06them. So I know what they say.
- 1:08The boys kind of have forgotten. That's a year ago.
- 1:10I mean, you guys are old, so no. I forgot what I said last week
- 1:15on podcast a year ago. No chance.
- 1:19Yeah, as long as it's not libelous, you're fine.
- 1:20You don't need to remember exactly.
- 1:21Yeah. Yeah, just remember, just
- 1:24allegedly pour everything allegedly.
- 1:26Yeah, that doesn't even work. You know, I know people do that,
- 1:28but it doesn't work. It works in America mostly, but
- 1:31it doesn't work in Britain because of the libel laws there.
- 1:34Really doesn't work to just say allegedly.
- 1:37Otherwise, radio stations would be would be saying a lot more
- 1:40than they than they could about certain things.
- 1:44You need to become an MP. That's what you need to see in
- 1:45the UK. You can say whatever you like
- 1:47in. House, Parliament.
- 1:48In House Commons and it's completely safe, so yeah.
- 1:52Anyway, so yeah, I've been sick as a small hospital all week, so
- 1:56that's been fun. Head cold and everything.
- 1:59And so if I sound like bullshit, it's it's just because I sound
- 2:03like bullshit. So don't worry about it getting
- 2:06back there though. The kids were the same, all of
- 2:08us actually were. It was, but it wasn't bad enough
- 2:11that like, I think the kids had to stay home one day from school
- 2:14and it was really just because they were coughing too much.
- 2:18But it wasn't so bad that, you know, everyone was wiped out,
- 2:21but everyone was just hacking. It was like everyone had taken
- 2:23up smoking or something. That sounds like my worst
- 2:28nightmare. I'm not good at people coughing.
- 2:29Yeah, it winds me up even when it's my own family.
- 2:32Yeah. So yeah, this is the household
- 2:34real. Kind of hacky hard cough.
- 2:36And yeah, so hopefully it gets better in the evening.
- 2:39And then, yeah, I think when you're sleeping at night, then
- 2:41it kind of goes back to kind of set everything settles down to
- 2:45be coughed out again the next morning.
- 2:47So fun. But the happy part of the week
- 2:52is that we get to do this podcast and so we're well enough
- 2:55for that. So.
- 2:57So anything else going out, you guys?
- 3:03I had my Christmas present from my mum to me, which obviously I
- 3:08ordered because, you know, I know what I want.
- 3:12Arrived from China yesterday. I was in the office.
- 3:15I'm actually my wife going, oh, what have those things been
- 3:18delivered? She's like, yeah, she's like,
- 3:20hopefully they were like Lego type things.
- 3:22Otherwise they're smashed to bits in the box because it's
- 3:24just rattling away. And luckily they were Lego type
- 3:29things. So no, it was some more of the
- 3:31blockies, Transformers, blockies.
- 3:34Oh cool. I like I liked it so much I
- 3:36bought 2 cases. Oh, nice one.
- 3:40I got the transformer I meant to message you and then forgot I
- 3:43got the Transformers one just puts so.
- 3:47Just put them, put them up there for us there again so you have a
- 3:50proper look at them. So this is from Transformers 1
- 3:53Orion packs. Wow, there you go.
- 3:56D16 with Cog as is described in the So yeah, I let Rich explain
- 4:03what they are a bit, but they're so fun, so relaxing.
- 4:05They're brilliant, aren't they? They're basically like a
- 4:08slightly more complex Lego. So they're what, 3 1/2, four
- 4:11inches tall male. Something like that maybe, yeah.
- 4:14And this. Massive.
- 4:15Very massive. Yeah, yeah, 10 inches as we tell
- 4:17people. But yeah, they come.
- 4:21They come just in Baggies and you have to connect the the
- 4:24joints and everything sort of thing, but it's really simple to
- 4:27do and they're just really cool looking little Transformers.
- 4:29So so I got Inferno a few weeks ago and was showing you guys and
- 4:33then we're so impressed that I've now ordered two more series
- 4:36worth of them. So be a very Merry Christmas for
- 4:39me. Well, a blockies, they, I've,
- 4:42I've seen they also do well. They're doing it recently.
- 4:46In it, they've recently announced Sesame Street.
- 4:51Yes, I saw that, yeah. I'm I'm not too worried about
- 4:55them, but they do look good. They've now that they already
- 5:00did masked ride which or which I'm not that fussed by, but they
- 5:05look kind of cool still and they do.
- 5:08I don't know what what it's from something what's, I forget what
- 5:12the actual name of the series is called, but it's things like the
- 5:15Monkey King and all sort of magical creatures and they've
- 5:19got like little robot suits in that one.
- 5:22That's so tempting. I've almost seen that.
- 5:24That sounds good. Yeah, I'll find on the screen
- 5:27could could be very slippery slope for me personally they
- 5:30look. What did they have?
- 5:31They had Big Bird, Oscar, the Cookie Monster, Elmo.
- 5:36All the big. Hitters might mean Elmo.
- 5:38Yeah. Could have been, yeah.
- 5:41Right. Yeah, very, I think.
- 5:42It was Oscar maybe what? Maybe I was thinking of Elmo
- 5:43rather than Oscar the Grouch I might be thinking of.
- 5:45Elmo, don't send me the link. Don't send me the link to those,
- 5:49please. Yeah.
- 5:50They've also got appreciated. They've also got Marvel license
- 5:53now as well, so there's a Marvel series on the way it.
- 5:56Was a bit Iron Man heavy for me though.
- 5:58It was well, that's because they're they're sort of just
- 6:00chunky and blocky, aren't they? So for Transformers that work
- 6:02perfectly for, you know, Iron Man, they work great.
- 6:05But for other stuff to. Be honest, one of the reasons I
- 6:07picked them up is my mate who is a Transformers fan had picked a
- 6:11few up and I was having a mess with them and they balance so
- 6:14well and pose. Ridiculously.
- 6:16Well, for what they are that I thought I might do a little bit
- 6:18of outdoor photography with them.
- 6:20You know not. Oh that would be cool.
- 6:22See, you're messy, so might do a bit of that.
- 6:25Have a bit of fun with that being.
- 6:26Urban, obviously you don't. You don't need to go to a forest
- 6:29with them. Then you can go.
- 6:30Well, I live, I live near one of the largest parks in Europe, in
- 6:35Sutton Park. So there you go.
- 6:37You. Can do it there well Rich I'm
- 6:39just going to make myself big here I I got a little delivery
- 6:42this week that you might person I'm just going to push my
- 6:45microphone away there so you can see look at that beautiful.
- 6:54That is incredible look at. Look at the quality of the.
- 6:57Art doesn't it actually? Well, so I got them from a red
- 7:01bubble store and the quality is really good.
- 7:04Impressed. Kind of same type of T-shirts
- 7:06you got. Legions gone print is really
- 7:09good. It's, you know, kind of into the
- 7:11material and it comes out very well.
- 7:14The text and everything is beautifully done.
- 7:17So I'm very, very happy with that.
- 7:20So we'll be, we'll be sporting it throughout the year and of
- 7:23course the next year at Legions come.
- 7:26That's amazing for listeners. That's the new art, the art of
- 7:30Richard Jones Red bubble page we have with Haagnon, Methator and
- 7:36Malleus. Yeah.
- 7:38Together, yeah. And there's T-shirts that I got
- 7:40from there in green with the logo.
- 7:42So yeah, it it's awesome. So yeah, if you're that looks
- 7:46really good for T-shirts and different.
- 7:47I also got a You're one of our kind of wallet logo ones in
- 7:50purple just to make the purple gang jealous.
- 7:54Yeah. Nice.
- 7:55Background to yourself. And again, the print was really
- 7:57nicely done on it. So yeah, quite happy with that
- 8:00and delivered pretty quickly. So yeah.
- 8:03I shared that link with my with my work team today.
- 8:06There was just lots of laugh emojis and this sort of stuff
- 8:09and just like what the. Where's the sales guys?
- 8:10Come on. Yeah.
- 8:12And then they were so. Impressed.
- 8:13Buy you a shower curtain for Christmas or something?
- 8:18They were so impressed that they've asked me to we've got a
- 8:20Christmas quiz, Christmas themed quiz next week as part of our
- 8:23end of year team meeting sort of thing and they've asked me to
- 8:26draw Christmas representations of Christmas movies.
- 8:30So I have. I have 4 done already.
- 8:34I've embraced it. I took one through to show my
- 8:37wife and child earlier and they're just had looks of it's a
- 8:40horror on their face and my wife was like what the hell is that?
- 8:45And she got it eventually, but initially she was just like, no.
- 8:48So that's that's exactly bog standard for for your art.
- 8:52It's like what the? Hell, is that basically?
- 8:53What? You guessed it in the end, yeah.
- 8:56And then it's exactly genius. Yeah.
- 8:57And then every time you look at it, you can't Unsee it, you
- 9:00know? It's.
- 9:00Yeah, exactly. It is actually kind of an
- 9:03artistic process. Now I'm understanding here.
- 9:05You know, I think Curtis has opened my eyes here.
- 9:07Curtis bought a duvet cover or a comforter, I think they call
- 9:10them in America and for himself. And so we.
- 9:16Yeah, Curtis, you are the best. You know that already.
- 9:18I have a very special transition this week for when we go into
- 9:22the prediction section. There will be a very special
- 9:24transition, you know, one of those that we've been doing.
- 9:27And Curtis, I'm sure you will. If you manage to get get through
- 9:32that without crying, laughing or crying, I'll be impressed.
- 9:38I, I, I don't want to sound beheaded here, but I am
- 9:40genuinely excited about the fact of Curtis wrapping himself up in
- 9:42my heart. It's.
- 9:45I can't wait for the selfies you're going to get from it.
- 9:52You're going to have to open the separate chat and messenger, you
- 9:55know, just for that stuff so me and Mal can step out if you
- 10:00don't mind. No Mal, I'm going to include Mal
- 10:01in every single chat I'm in about my art because he loves
- 10:03it. Just tagging in Mal here the
- 10:09explanation. The world's gone mad.
- 10:15Yeah, well, come on, Somebody was selling a banana tape to a
- 10:17wall for 10 million or whatever it was the other day.
- 10:20So I mean rich as artists and the guy way above that.
- 10:23Did you see what happened that the guy that bought it then ate
- 10:25the banana? Eat the banana, but they just
- 10:27come with instructions on how to replace the banana.
- 10:30So, you know, but when it was on display in Korea, some school
- 10:35student apparently came and just took the banana and ate it as
- 10:37well. And he got like, I think he got
- 10:42some sort of a fine or whatever. Fair enough.
- 10:45I kind of don't blame him. And when he was asked what he
- 10:47did, he said I was hungry. Wasn't like some sort of a
- 10:52protest or you know, it was just like, oh, I'm hungry.
- 10:54I was a banana. I'm just.
- 10:56Reaping all around, yeah. Didn't have my cereal this
- 10:58morning, didn't have my core flakes.
- 10:59So anyway, should we get on to a little bit of normal
- 11:04proceedings? So we got this this week, the
- 11:08reveal of the Skeleton graveyard skeletons box art, which is
- 11:13going to be in black and white as well, which I think is very
- 11:16appropriate because skeletons are in that scheme.
- 11:19So I'll just read a little bit of the blurb.
- 11:22So Jeremy says when we first solicited the special set that
- 11:27it would would we said that it would come in seasonal packaging
- 11:32and the artwork is done by Tom Tall Man.
- 11:35Tom has been working with Nate and the studio on some packaging
- 11:39art lately and he absolutely killed this latest project.
- 11:43In addition to look at the sex sets package, we're also excited
- 11:48to announce that we are a bit ahead just schedule on this one.
- 11:50So this is even better news than the packaging, which was cool in
- 11:53itself. We thought they would ship
- 11:56initially in Q2 2025, so that would have been April to June,
- 12:02but now they're going to be in late Q1, so March and into fans
- 12:07hands. So I'm guessing the retailers
- 12:09will probably get them a little bit before that.
- 12:12So I imagine the street date will be sometime in late March
- 12:15for those. So very exciting.
- 12:17And yeah, the last bit, as you know, get them now from your
- 12:21retailers before they sell out because retailers would have
- 12:24probably ordered a little bit of overstock.
- 12:26But if they're going to come quite quickly, those could start
- 12:30disappearing. I've already seen one or two of
- 12:32the European retailers that the stock has disappeared and one or
- 12:35two of the others, the price has kind of crept up a little bit
- 12:39from the normal. So it's been like a 1010 bucks
- 12:43or whatever put up €10 put on the price.
- 12:45So meaning that they're probably at the end of their stock as
- 12:48well. So yeah, as.
- 12:51I said to you boys, I coincidentally ordered my set at
- 12:54the weekend before this announcement came out, but I'm
- 12:56glad I did. Happy accident there.
- 12:58Yeah, yeah. Are they are they still
- 13:00available I wonder in UK? Let me check for you and I just.
- 13:04Service for the for the UK listeners, that would be good.
- 13:08You know, oh, except that's, I mean, sold out.
- 13:10Yeah, that's true. It's a funny one because I mean,
- 13:14I've ordered 2 two boxes, but I keep going.
- 13:16Do I need more? Do I need one?
- 13:17It's like no, you ordered 2, so 1/8.
- 13:21Skeletons, customs 8 skeletons smell, and of course, one you're
- 13:26probably going to keep in that wonderful package knowing
- 13:28knowing you. No, no, no, no, not not these.
- 13:31These are for builders and well, one will be on the shelf with
- 13:35the. Somebody mentioned in one of the
- 13:37posts I saw about this that Lone Wolf Labs, you know, the DIO
- 13:41guys that we were beside the first year at Legions can that
- 13:44some of their gravestones is used in in the art in the back
- 13:48of yours. It's in the art is so, so good.
- 13:52So, so good. I mean, the photographers can be
- 13:54fantastic, but the art is. Yeah, So the black and White's
- 14:00perfect, isn't it? It's perfect.
- 14:02Yeah, it. Is looks amazing, doesn't it?
- 14:04It is really, isn't it? Any update there for the UK
- 14:07listeners then Rich? Yes they are in stock so run and
- 14:10grab them quick while you can before mile buys another $0.10
- 14:13and. What's the retail price there in
- 14:15in? It's £100.
- 14:17His Majesty's Pounds £100 There you go.
- 14:20Yeah, it's about $125 or so at the moment.
- 14:24And then last week we had we had a chat about maybe put into was
- 14:29it the red vampire head that came with the Cosmic 2 pack at
- 14:32Legions Con on Red Death and our friend Dylan sent us some
- 14:38pictures on Instagram. AKA Wolfie.
- 14:42Legend Collector 1321 and on Instagram you won't find them
- 14:47under Wolfie. You might if you search
- 14:49Facebook. Was Facebook down earlier on
- 14:53Instagram today I noticed. Facebook was playing that for
- 14:56me. Whenever I tried to like
- 14:58something, it just refused. Yeah, I heard it's.
- 15:00To me all the time, but my mate's just messaged to ask if
- 15:03there's problem, he's having problems with Facebook or it's
- 15:06fine to me. So maybe, yeah, maybe there are.
- 15:09It's going around the houses. So anyway, Dylan sent us these
- 15:12two awesome pictures that we have up here on the video
- 15:15version. And so it is the redhead from
- 15:19the Cosmic 2 pack, which I think works.
- 15:21Yeah, you could definitely get away with it.
- 15:25Yeah, I red colour is too, too different for me.
- 15:28It's enough to stop me rushing out and buying.
- 15:30Yeah, I got you a red mask. But it does.
- 15:32Stylistically, it definitely works.
- 15:35Oh yes. 100% and then also the the translucent redhead mouth
- 15:43from. That works better because, yeah,
- 15:46and I like lens better. That's quite cool, yeah.
- 15:48I think when that picture first came up I thought why is he
- 15:51wearing wrap around sunglasses and then I realized it was just
- 15:54a translucent effect. It's like, OK, that makes more
- 15:56sense. I think you could get the other
- 15:57head to match the red better if you just a little bit of a
- 16:00darker red. Dry brush for any of the
- 16:02paintings, Sir. You might get it close or close
- 16:05enough to it not mattering. The only problem is that you're
- 16:08basically the head is on the body and there's nothing in
- 16:11between. So it's not like you have
- 16:12pauldrons or something to kind of separate the Reds.
- 16:16So you really have to probably be be quite close in the in the
- 16:20match. But yeah, pretty cool and always
- 16:23awesome for people to like Dylan to send us stuff to help our
- 16:28ineptitude. Or the fact I do with that head.
- 16:31Oh, there we go. We have him on that.
- 16:34Works well, Matt. On Fisher Rice I.
- 16:36Put it on the Fisher Rice. So he's going to be one of the I
- 16:41forgot Adventure Squadron or the whatever they're called the.
- 16:45Awesome. Whatever their property.
- 16:47Shadow circle is it or something?
- 16:48Shadow circle. That's it.
- 16:50Yeah, our bulk order should be arriving soon.
- 16:52I haven't got them yet, so it'll be next week and next week we're
- 16:58just to say we're going to do the The Best of 2024 episode.
- 17:03And so I've sent some questions out to the Patreons if they want
- 17:06to answer what their favourites so we can shout them out and
- 17:10I'll do a public post as well with some that you can comment
- 17:14on so on our Facebook and just to.
- 17:16Confirm is when you say sent them out.
- 17:19How have you done that if you sent?
- 17:21Through, through Patreon and through the Discord.
- 17:23So both, both. So if you're on Patreon or the
- 17:26Discord through Patreon, you should be able to see that post.
- 17:30Couple people ever applied. So it's out there.
- 17:33And yeah. Or the
- 17:35eurolegionspodcast@gmail.com if you want to just send in
- 17:38whatever you want there. Any ramblings?
- 17:39We'll definitely read them out and but yeah, I'll probably put
- 17:43some. I put a cup, I put.
- 17:44A You're not. You're not allowed.
- 17:46Yeah. You're not allowed to be all
- 17:47about my heart and how much you dislike it.
- 17:49It's not allowed. I'd put, yeah, I put a couple of
- 17:52charac categories on the Patreon.
- 17:54I'll probably just put like the top five for for anyone in
- 17:57public that wants to comment on it and then we'll see if we can
- 18:01squeeze them. And we will definitely, Yeah.
- 18:04So. And then the week after that
- 18:07episode, there's a, we won't give any details away, but
- 18:09there's a very special episode coming along.
- 18:12Yeah, for a little Christmas theme, maybe.
- 18:15Yeah. You got the decorations up
- 18:17there, I see, Rich. I got my tinsel which actually
- 18:19has been here all year if anyone has been paying attention.
- 18:22Put it up last year. Yeah, this room is quite, quite
- 18:26modestly decorated. There's a couple of sets of
- 18:28baubles hanging up and the Happy Christmas.
- 18:31It's the the other rooms that have really probably festooned
- 18:34with stuff. You got the tree and all.
- 18:36We haven't got the tree. Yes, we put the tree without
- 18:38decorations on Saturday to see if the cats attacked it.
- 18:42They didn't, so it's now fully decorated and they could not
- 18:44careless, which is good. It's good about yours.
- 18:48Do they leave the tree alone, John, or do they?
- 18:49Yeah, yeah. I mean, they might, they might
- 18:51float around like kind of suspiciously rounded for the
- 18:54first day or two, but after that it's normally fine.
- 18:59If you leave both some of the bottles a bit too low, they
- 19:02might start playing with them. If he is, if there's any
- 19:07expensive ones or ones that you're you're of sentimental
- 19:09value, I'd put that. I'd put them higher up out of
- 19:13reach. But yeah, we haven't got a tree
- 19:15yet because my wife is completely slammed with work.
- 19:18It's very busy for her. She's teacher and a lot of stuff
- 19:23going on and she's correcting papers.
- 19:24She's probably still correcting. And it's now 9:00 PM and between
- 19:29kind of telling the kids to go to bed and she's been out all
- 19:32day and all day yesterday and probably all day tomorrow when
- 19:36she's not at work. So yeah, that's been fun.
- 19:38And yeah, I'm not going to get a tree.
- 19:41So the kids are like, when's the tree?
- 19:43Good. Ask your mum.
- 19:45It's up to me. I'm not going to bother.
- 19:46I. Was going to have a week earlier
- 19:49than normal just because we have my brother or sister-in-law and
- 19:52nephews over at the weekend so it's like to have a Christmassy
- 19:55sort of thing. So you're not going to see them
- 19:56again before before the new year?
- 19:58Yeah. So, yeah, so we went up a week
- 20:00earlier than normal because normally Kerry's, my wife's
- 20:02birthday is at the start of December.
- 20:04So you have to wait till considerably after that to put
- 20:07decks up normally. Got you.
- 20:11Yeah, If I had a fake tree I'd probably already have it up, but
- 20:14it's just the whole thing of going out and getting a tree and
- 20:16all that kind of crap. Yeah, I mean, because of the
- 20:20kids or anyone else, I don't bother doing anything.
- 20:22It's just like. I'd be fine with the little, you
- 20:24know, those little like, you know, whatever.
- 20:27Yeah, yeah, yeah. Little 2 foot tall little tree
- 20:31that you can put on your your drawer, you know, kind of we've
- 20:34got a. 3 foot fibre optic 1 Somewhere here that I had when I
- 20:39live by myself and which Kerry got furious about because I left
- 20:43it up till April and she's like, it's a Christmas tree, what the
- 20:46Hell's wrong with you? I was like it.
- 20:47The lights aren't switched on, it's now just a house plant.
- 20:49This is Yeah, look, it just. It adds a bit of greenery to
- 20:51the. House, this is a block's
- 20:53apartment, you know exactly do you think I have plants and you
- 20:57know stuff going around you know this is as close as you're going
- 21:01to get right? Should we get into the
- 21:03predictions then just go? For it.
- 21:07And then at the end of the show, we'll, if you want to stick
- 21:10around, we'll also talk about movie and TV and whatever
- 21:14watching recommendations. We have a few of those if you're
- 21:17interested because you might have some time over Christmas to
- 21:19catch up. You can see what we think is
- 21:22going good at the moment, right? Take it away.
- 21:42Hey there, this is Curtis Ackerman and the Euro Legions
- 21:45guys did not ask me for this audio message, but here it is.
- 21:50And watch and listen to their show and check out their
- 21:52Patreon. It's the best in the business
- 21:55even though they don't care enough to get my recording.
- 22:10There you go. Thank you, Curtis.
- 22:13So we'll definitely keep that one on file.
- 22:16And Despite that, he still bought a duvet slash comforter.
- 22:21Exactly. Yeah, type of guy he is.
- 22:23Yeah, right. I have first prediction then.
- 22:27So as I said, episode 47 from last year, we knew nothing.
- 22:31We don't know nothing now either.
- 22:32But we know what happened this year, so if we can remember.
- 22:36So let's see who's first up. New factions.
- 22:39That's the first thing on my list is at last when that's met
- 22:42with all due respect to all the other current factions, we'll
- 22:46get new factions this year, probably AG com.
- 22:49Wow, pretty good. Well, I'm done.
- 22:53I'll head off. I'll see you guys.
- 22:55Straight out the gate. If only Liverpool could score
- 22:58goals like that. We just leave it on the
- 23:02second-half, it's the easiest way.
- 23:05Do you know the name of the faction that we got?
- 23:08Oh God. No.
- 23:11The the followers or disciples of something or other.
- 23:15It's the Dragon Clan. Yeah, the dragon, the dragon
- 23:18folk. Really.
- 23:24Damn it, John, that's a good question.
- 23:25I don't know the answer, Mal. What is it?
- 23:26Quick. Give me a SEC, I'm looking.
- 23:28Let me hang in here, Mal. Come on.
- 23:32They don't have an option. Updated on the Factions section
- 23:34of the Yeah, they're not they, they're.
- 23:37In there though. Sure.
- 23:41Yeah. No, they don't have it up there,
- 23:45so it is called. It's somewhere though the you
- 23:51can see all the characters and maybe.
- 23:53Just just tell us, John, this is painful.
- 23:58I'm nearly there. I'm nearly there.
- 24:01Sect of his Ari Ari ever ever ever.
- 24:06That's what I was going to say. Yeah, and Arya, the Talon
- 24:13bearer, she's the one that's that's up there.
- 24:16So there we go. Yes, and then we've also got Ray
- 24:20Gore and Arizak as secret members as well, though.
- 24:23I'm totally, totally going to win.
- 24:26I think I need to get a bit more display space, so I'm going to
- 24:29work that out and I'm totally going to display them as the
- 24:32sect rather than in their current factions I reckon.
- 24:36Right, next prediction. Because I don't necessarily
- 24:40think we will get new factions, might get one.
- 24:44And I've said I think we'll see an end.
- 24:46We will see an end to that versus element.
- 24:50OK, so not bad. Well, you know, you sat on the
- 24:53you, you. Sat on the fence.
- 24:56We should actually have a little one of those little things up in
- 24:58the corner for every time Mal sits in the fence on these.
- 25:02We should. We should make it a drinking
- 25:03game so quickly our listeners get absolutely hammered.
- 25:07So you, yeah, you, you pretty much.
- 25:09I mean, you said no factions and then you completely rolled back
- 25:12on the one. Immediately but but I did
- 25:14specify 1. I was just lucky, Yes.
- 25:19Well, I suppose these are all lucky guesses, so pretty good.
- 25:25Next up. Do you think this might be the
- 25:27year we get a dragon? There you go, simple.
- 25:32There we go. Straight to the point.
- 25:34Year after you did. You did talk a lot about it
- 25:37being Year of the Dragon and obviously the 20.
- 25:39I didn't clip all that mean we don't listen back to all that.
- 25:42And it must be said, it was before it was then it was being
- 25:46put out there quite so much as well, wasn't it?
- 25:48What I do? Oh yeah, this was January, so
- 25:51nobody was talking about Dragon much then.
- 25:54They were talking about All Stars.
- 25:57Yeah. So a. 100% agree, we'll
- 26:00definitely definitely see a dragon this year but I'm
- 26:03wondering I could be completely off here whether it will come.
- 26:07It'll be an in stock drop. Oh, you're so doing so well and
- 26:12then totally failed, although the difference between, you
- 26:15know, rich with his definitely, definitely, definitely.
- 26:18And if we go back to Mal and. Do you think this might be the
- 26:22year we get a dragon? Come on.
- 26:27You know, and Richie, yeah, we'll definitely get Dragon.
- 26:29So I think that's the difference between both of you really, you
- 26:33know. There's a, there's a Washington
- 26:39Commanders podcast I listen to. It's four guys that do a sports
- 26:41radio show. And one of those is like 100%
- 26:45there's no way we're going to lose.
- 26:46Absolutely nailed on. But the rest of my, well, we
- 26:48went, it's like, no, no, no. So I'm, yeah, I'm in that boat,
- 26:50basically. You're him under no half.
- 26:53Measure. So yeah, with the in stock drop,
- 26:56I mean, come on, what were you thinking?
- 27:01I mean this technically isn't in stock drop, you just have to
- 27:04wait a year for it because it takes a while to ship.
- 27:05It's like a Mezco in stock drop, yeah.
- 27:07Yeah, basically, yes. OK, let's see what we got next,
- 27:12because we've got nineteen of these, so we shouldn't delete
- 27:15more down for smaller Dragons, you know, a wave of five little
- 27:20absolutely, you know, 12 inch Dragons or whatever.
- 27:24I guess I got the scale wrong, but I mean wave of five.
- 27:27Got the. Five.
- 27:30That was the yeah, that was due to my research of all the No, it
- 27:34was just number plucked out of. There's there's, there's
- 27:38potentially another 5 continent, so.
- 27:42Probably thinking as it's a bit like Game of Thrones, you know,
- 27:44there's all the good Dragons and then or like, I mean, OK, there
- 27:48was one evil ice dragon, you know, at the end.
- 27:51So I was thinking the bad factions maybe get one bad
- 27:53dragon and then and then the rest of Dragons are kind of on
- 27:57the good side. But you know.
- 28:00If they're if they're really thinking about it, they'll make
- 28:02one of the Dragons a bad dragon. Just so you go, well, OK, I'll
- 28:05get 2 then I'll have a goodie and a baddie.
- 28:08Yeah, even if I can't at all 5. We're getting all 5, aren't we?
- 28:13Let's be honest. Well.
- 28:14I mean, I mean, you know, I'll release them.
- 28:16I mean, whether I'll have space and the funds four or five is
- 28:20another matter entirely. I mean, people are, you know,
- 28:22going to be complaining about maybe spending 4 or 500 on the
- 28:27dragon, but like people spent maybe 800 sometimes on a custom,
- 28:31which is completely insane, you know.
- 28:36So, you know, if if you have the money for it, you have the money
- 28:39for it. If you don't, it's tough.
- 28:41But I think they'll, you know, the horseman will try and make
- 28:44it as available as possible and pain and stuff like that.
- 28:48Yeah, for people. Worst case scenario we get one
- 28:50between US and just timeshare it so you can spend four months a
- 28:54year with each of us. Yeah, measuring the shipping
- 28:57cost for that. Oh, Jesus.
- 28:58Yeah, yeah. You have to come over and get
- 29:00it, John, when it's your turn. I did hear somewhere, I can't
- 29:03remember which show it was, but the Jeremy mentioned it's going
- 29:08to be basically about the size of two troll boxes the way
- 29:11they're going to package it. So the shipping will be
- 29:15completely insane in that. Yeah.
- 29:18Where do they cover that? In the Legions Lounge.
- 29:20They mentioned, they mentioned it on yes, Legions, Yes, it was,
- 29:27yeah. OK, I'm just going to check.
- 29:30I think this is the next one. What if it's not a dragon and
- 29:37because it has been suggested and mentioned it is something
- 29:40they'd like to do, we get a playset.
- 29:43Oh wow. And we?
- 29:44Get the Castle of Four Sides playset.
- 29:47Yes. I mean, that would have been
- 29:51cool and that could still come. I think that's not something
- 29:54that's. Ruled out Whatever.
- 29:56And I think if they weren't going to do the dragon, which in
- 29:59hindsight, if I think we even said it at some point, it would
- 30:02be insane not to do the dragon this year with all the things
- 30:05like I did there this year or never was kind of, you know, and
- 30:09still it's OK, it's next year, but you know, it's been
- 30:11announced so we can say it's this year.
- 30:14But castle the four sides, I think people will be really down
- 30:18for even dial pieces, even, you know, a castle, you know,
- 30:21imagine just a kind of a castle wall and Batterman's kind of
- 30:26thing, you know, a bit like cosmic Dios set with maybe a
- 30:30bigger piece for be be great. People would be all all over
- 30:35that. And now that they've got the
- 30:37really big thing out of the way with the dragon, you know,
- 30:38people that you know, have it in their mind.
- 30:41Oh yeah, there's big stuff. There's big stuff.
- 30:42So. Definitely, I I did just have to
- 30:46do it maybe in a way that you could kind of switch it around
- 30:49so that you wouldn't get everyone just taken their foot
- 30:51top photographs and they're all got the same background exactly
- 30:55because of, I don't know, there must be a way of doing it that
- 30:59you could do a couple of different looks of it.
- 31:01But again, that's for toy designers and smart people in
- 31:05that way to think about. It's not for for me exactly.
- 31:09Or for a talented artist, just to draw, you can print it on a
- 31:14A3, stick it up, bump, dump. The Word Microsoft Word castle
- 31:22walls coming soon. Could charge at least $70.00 for
- 31:27that. Can't.
- 31:28Easy, can't remember which company it was.
- 31:31One of the companies put out a castle walls diorama recently
- 31:35didn't they? Which is basically just thin
- 31:36super. 7. Was the Super severed?
- 31:38Didn't surprise me. I mean, OK, maybe if it's
- 31:42further like retro, whatever, five points of articulation
- 31:45line, I mean that kind of has a charm.
- 31:48But yeah, if it was first, you know, the Ultimates are 6
- 31:51interviews. What were you saying today to
- 31:53me? Mad about NECA and their VIP
- 31:57club This was? Hilarious.
- 31:59I've only, I've only seen one mention of it, but in one of the
- 32:03groups, I mean, they're sending emails around inviting people to
- 32:07be a member of their VIP club next year, but you have to have
- 32:13spent $400.00 this year. So this person in particular was
- 32:17like with them on their at their in the NECA store.
- 32:22And so this person's e-mail was like, you only need to spend
- 32:26$260 more this year. And as I said to you, if NECA
- 32:32was a person, you would think they were having a mental
- 32:35breakdown. Yeah, with all the shipping
- 32:37problems they've had, just not, and I mean, these emails could
- 32:39be going to people that have spent 2 grand in Target getting
- 32:43the fig NECA figures and then they've been asked to spend 260
- 32:46more to be a VIP and like they're they've literally got
- 32:49shelves everywhere full of NECA figures.
- 32:51Yeah, yeah, insane. Just right.
- 32:55Let's listen to past us again. My thing with Mythic Boy left
- 32:59for this year is I don't think there's going to be an All Stars
- 33:02wave this year. That's my prediction.
- 33:04I say, I think there will be. Yeah, I think we'll be a.
- 33:08Little drive by on the two of you by leaving that in there.
- 33:10Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's a fake file.
- 33:13That last bit with me me, it sounded like you just cropped it
- 33:17from somewhere else. Yeah, no, All Stars, it wasn't.
- 33:20It wasn't an outrageous suggestion because there was
- 33:23hints about maybe All Stars not being their best selling thing
- 33:27and that, you know, there was possibility they might skip you
- 33:32or do something. So, yeah, but we got that right.
- 33:36I mean, we take one of us wins, we take a win for the whole
- 33:39group. Except that.
- 33:40Absolutely. And the change they've, the
- 33:42change they made is, is by far and away better.
- 33:44As. Well, I know there's some
- 33:46initial like me from people that she's about Bendor, but it's
- 33:48it's new characters. And there's a genius little
- 33:51prediction from you coming up as well, Rich so.
- 33:54Yeah, golfs. Just going to add, just going to
- 33:58add, especially with what's been announced at Gcon along with the
- 34:02way they're going to do that like Ashes about Bendor and it
- 34:05seems potentially like we're going to get stories from the
- 34:09library each year now that's ready for next week.
- 34:15More Lord. Yeah, yeah.
- 34:17John, can you ask me my predictions first when we do
- 34:20them, please? I just made a note of an old
- 34:22idea straight on that. Tales from the Library.
- 34:27OK, shall I go next? Yeah.
- 34:30So I think slightly differently with the All Stars.
- 34:32I think this time they're going to go down the route like go big
- 34:36and then potentially stop it because they talked about not
- 34:39doing it etcetera, etcetera. So I think rather than just like
- 34:421 alumni character like last time, they might actually do
- 34:45quite a few this time. So it might be like, you know,
- 34:47all the older figures that we've not had released yet that they
- 34:50don't intend in version twos of they're all in that you can get
- 34:53three or four of them. So you kind of mystery boxes
- 34:57prediction there a little bit. I'm going to take it as.
- 34:59Yeah, yeah. And also the the myth allegiance
- 35:04legacies or whatever it's called.
- 35:07Yeah, that fits as well. So.
- 35:09Yeah, but I think all the older figures that they, they just
- 35:12wanted to get done, I think pretty much in there.
- 35:17Yeah. People in a in a way that wasn't
- 35:21financially disastrous for them in the mystery boxes.
- 35:23They didn't have to do a full run of every figure.
- 35:27You know, they tried to get them out there and it kind of dampens
- 35:30down the secondary market as well for those figures.
- 35:33OK, you might still have to pay 80 or 70 for for some
- 35:38characters, but not the 100 odd, you know, not the 150 that some
- 35:42of them are going for. So I think that was good.
- 35:44I mean, the warehouse finds, that's a different thing.
- 35:46Some of them I think people would still like to get their
- 35:49hands on. They're pretty rare.
- 35:52But I think a couple of them though there is a potential
- 35:55we'll get version twos. It's just they were literally
- 35:58warehouse finds, weren't they say.
- 36:00Yeah, but the likes of like, Cador, the Shadow as Sir
- 36:03Godfrey, you could fill your boots with them at Legions Con.
- 36:06I mean, you could literally come home with a dozen of them.
- 36:08Might say no bottom. Yeah, there was.
- 36:10They had plenty of them. And why anyone doesn't cadors I
- 36:14have no idea but. He's a cool figure a dozens
- 36:19recoveries, I don't know why. Oh, that's no, that's totally
- 36:22normal. Don't hell is wrong with you.
- 36:24No, I mean, if if you haven't had the Templar, yes, but if
- 36:27you've if you've got the Legion builder Templars from a few
- 36:29years ago, you don't need Sir Godfrey.
- 36:32You don't know. That's why I didn't pick him up.
- 36:33It's just like now. And we're getting the cloth good
- 36:37ones now. So it depends.
- 36:38It depends what you prefer, of course.
- 36:40Some people prefer the OK. I think they do the alumni
- 36:44thing, but then to to really go for it in style.
- 36:49I wouldn't be surprised if they released the four great beasts
- 36:53at the same time. Oh, is, I mean, you're
- 36:56predicting kind of next year, but it was announced this year.
- 36:59So we got the four great beasts? Pretty much, yeah.
- 37:02On the way. Happy with that?
- 37:04Yeah, not at the same time as as the alumni slash mystery boxes,
- 37:09but. No, I can see the way why they
- 37:12did it the way they did though. I mean, that would have been,
- 37:14you know, obviously they want to get the price to a particular
- 37:17point. And if they choked in ether on
- 37:19and Sly loner particularly ether on loads of new sculpting, then
- 37:23yeah, just pushed it over. Yeah.
- 37:25And I think as they're going to, they're not doing a re release
- 37:28of those two. They're doing an updated
- 37:30version, I think. Yeah.
- 37:31That's going to be cool. So because it's so Year of the
- 37:35Dragon thing and the All Stars and that sort of thing.
- 37:37But I've also been thinking about the the 20th.
- 37:39I think too much about this, the 25th anniversary of Four
- 37:42Horsemen and it's the men bit that has got me thinking.
- 37:45So I'm I'm hoping maybe we get like some beast men like
- 37:51Warhammer beast men something so it ties in without loneliness
- 37:55stuff. That would be great.
- 37:57Or dragon men. Again, the year the dragon, it's
- 38:01the horse men thing. So maybe, you know, a few Dragon
- 38:04Men characters might be a really good thing to get as part of
- 38:07that as well. There we go, nailed it.
- 38:11Snake men and hyena. It's basically what I said.
- 38:15I didn't know what to make of that one, but I I knew you'd
- 38:17find a way of twisting it. Yeah, we kind of get to find out
- 38:21what it's like to work with Rich.
- 38:25What do you mean? That was that was perfect idea.
- 38:27Look how it worked out. Yeah, you told me to do that.
- 38:30Well, you say I told you to do that.
- 38:31Let's let's go back, shall we? I strongly hinted with.
- 38:38And then it was up to you to decide what was the best course.
- 38:40Yeah, unbelievable. OK, are we ready for another one
- 38:47which has which has declared that one a winner?
- 38:50Maybe no MO 2 characters as there's no power con this year
- 38:54so no MO 2 homages. Yeah, that wouldn't be a bad
- 38:58thing, I don't think. Yeah, well, at all.
- 39:01You're not the biggest fan of the mayor.
- 39:03It depends on what they're. The cosmic The two cosmic ones
- 39:06worked really well I think. I think if they stuck with the
- 39:09cosmic stuff then that could be a way to go.
- 39:13So you won't again they're rich really at the end we got and to
- 39:16fillies. So in Cosmic was the only one we
- 39:18got I. Was wondering where that was
- 39:19going because I was thinking like, John could have stopped
- 39:21this. He's trying to drag me into his
- 39:23bad prediction as well. And then we got that.
- 39:25OK, that's fine. Yeah.
- 39:27So I think they wouldn't have done no to accept that David
- 39:29Williams did the awesome yes and to Phillies or you know that his
- 39:34original custom that that was based on.
- 39:36So I think they they knew that they could do 1 and that would
- 39:40be perfect balance for it. So ideal and no power card again
- 39:45this year by the looks of it. Well I mean he keeps suggesting
- 39:49that might be but but no information.
- 39:52Yet no info. It would seem like it would need
- 39:54to have been announced already if it's going to be he's.
- 39:56Going to say because it's getting quite late isn't it?
- 39:58If it's meant to be in August to to not have any details yet.
- 40:01Maybe they want to make it a bit smaller, I don't know.
- 40:04OK, next. So for Gcon, so I can see what
- 40:08Miles saying about the dragon being a Gcon, and I get that,
- 40:13but I'm hoping it's not because I'm hoping that we'll have the
- 40:17two new factions, one of which would be lizard men, maybe with
- 40:22snake men. Now you know my passion for
- 40:24this, so it's maybe me hoping rather than thinking sensibly.
- 40:28And also some sort of race of sea people.
- 40:32Oh, getting ahead of the game there with the sea people,
- 40:34maybe, but. Could be predicting next year
- 40:36with that one. Yeah, I think that's an open
- 40:38goal prediction. So yeah, lizard men and snake
- 40:43men. I mean, you had to.
- 40:44Predict the half right? And yeah, in fairness, yeah.
- 40:47Whenever you know, whatever year they had decided to release
- 40:50those, I could have gone. I told you 10 years ago, I told
- 40:52you it was you. Oh yeah, and we we did a whole
- 40:58lot of predictions at the end. I didn't cut them.
- 41:00Now was about when stuff was going to arrive and when stuff
- 41:04was going to be announced. They were awful.
- 41:06Oh Jesus, I was going to say it but they were awful.
- 41:09Don't remind people of the bad bits, just the good bits.
- 41:12Exactly. Here we go.
- 41:13No, I mean, I pretty much took all the predictions here.
- 41:15So it wasn't like it was good. It was just all the ones about,
- 41:18a lot of them are boring stuff, like about when stuff was going
- 41:21to be shipped. So it wasn't boring at the time.
- 41:23It's boring now because we have the stuff in hand, yeah.
- 41:27I wouldn't be surprised if we get a new mount type of some
- 41:29sort. Type of mount, so not another
- 41:31horse. Yeah, no.
- 41:33So not horse. So maybe they could do a goat or
- 41:36a boar or something like that. Yeah, you were already those
- 41:38legs open for that with Red Suns, weren't you?
- 41:43Yeah. I mean, those those legs would
- 41:45sort of be fairly interchangeable.
- 41:47So you just need a new main body part for for, you know, and a
- 41:51head sort of thing. So maybe something like that
- 41:53would be good. Or a shark if they go down the
- 41:57ocean. You were just this is just your
- 42:01shopping list. You know, this is just your your
- 42:04Amazon wishlist. If if it was if it was shopping
- 42:06on Amazon. I'm beginning to realise I'm
- 42:08nothing if not predictable for. Me it's it's the.
- 42:14Oh the ball. Or, oh, a shark.
- 42:25We went from mounts that are not horses to a shark man.
- 42:29Yeah, absolutely amazing. Now next one.
- 42:38Jeremy, if I remember rightly, Jeremy's already said that
- 42:40they're going to do the reveal of the wave, which will be the
- 42:43summer G con, I guess, but ish con this year.
- 42:47Yeah, which is cool. That's because it's filling that
- 42:50power con slot and I think it'll be Ox Crew book 2 or book three,
- 42:56and then the other reveal in the year will be the other one.
- 43:00Yeah, so we moved on to Cosmic now.
- 43:02So we do get our crew book 2 actually.
- 43:05Yeah, we got in there. I.
- 43:06Like it was Ox crew book two or three.
- 43:10You were, you were also predicting, you were also
- 43:12predicting 2 cosmic waves after that.
- 43:15Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was that was.
- 43:17I didn't contradict you either though.
- 43:18So I think we all thought we'd get 2 cosmic waves, but I think
- 43:21logically the way it went, that's probably enough with the
- 43:24one for the. Yeah, I'll be.
- 43:26I'll be interesting to see this coming year actually.
- 43:28And that's another show, obviously, but they slowed
- 43:30cosmic down last year, so interesting to see if they
- 43:33continue. They've been a bit slower.
- 43:34I think so, yeah. Of course, it also depends on
- 43:37maybe which one's more popular and what they want to do that.
- 43:44But yeah, we've got Mythic Wave now and then we're probably
- 43:46going to get the dragon pretty soon after Christmas.
- 43:51It's more mythic. So cosmic probably be early
- 43:56after the dragon then. I don't know.
- 43:59Wouldn't be great for Cosmic to put it right after the dragon.
- 44:03Yeah, I don't know. I think it'll be, I think we're
- 44:06going to stick to cosmic. It'll be if there's.
- 44:09Well, no, I think it'll be Ishkhan again.
- 44:11You think it'll be? Yeah.
- 44:13There's another prediction that I should have waited till next
- 44:15week. Screw book. 3 Thraxian shark men
- 44:24sun shark. Let's see how many.
- 44:26Oh yeah, there we go. Let's see how many lizards Rich
- 44:29predicted in cosmic here. Or I don't know what the Yeah.
- 44:31I wouldn't be surprised if we get escaped back in a different
- 44:33colour, or maybe one with a saddle on or something like
- 44:36that. Bungie, I will take that one.
- 44:44Yeah, absolutely. Nailed it.
- 44:47Nailed the Bungie. It makes sense checking the.
- 44:51Saddle on it. What's that?
- 44:53I'm just saying checking the saddle on anything lies.
- 44:55It's just common sense really, and good practice.
- 44:59And strictly speaking, another type of mount so.
- 45:02It is a good point, Mal, Yeah. It is indeed, yeah.
- 45:06And yeah, I'm really looking forward to that.
- 45:08That one actually more than the skate back, but we're going to
- 45:11have to wait longer for bungee. But I think, I know I'm excited
- 45:14about both. But yeah, bungee is going to be
- 45:16Oh yeah, I'm excited about skate back as well.
- 45:18But I think bungee is even cooler, which I didn't think
- 45:22would would be possible after the first skate back because he
- 45:24was pretty cool. I thought they would go maybe in
- 45:28a different direction. But yeah, make him cute.
- 45:33Why not, right? Shall we see what the next one
- 45:36is? This is a longer one.
- 45:40I don't think we'll necessarily get a wave.
- 45:42I think we might get the retailer version of the Monkey
- 45:46King because of how popular that's been.
- 45:50Yeah, I'm not so sure about anything else because I think
- 45:59it's too soon for maybe Marley and I suppose, you know, they
- 46:04maybe not. Yeah, because it's just it's
- 46:08just going to be pre-order anyway, even if it's yeah.
- 46:12So yeah, it'll still be another year probably, but the time they
- 46:15get in. I'm not sure how they do a brief
- 46:18celebration of mask with Red Death.
- 46:22Reverse the colors, Richard. Obvious.
- 46:25When you think about it, it's really obvious.
- 46:29So Matt wasn't sure, but he did get the Monkey King right.
- 46:33Wasn't hard. I think that was obvious, wasn't
- 46:35it? Yeah.
- 46:37I said it's going to be a long one.
- 46:38And then Mal spoke. I was like, yeah, here we go
- 46:40then. That's mean.
- 46:43No, that's mean. I do like the way I do like the
- 46:46way I went. Maybe we'll probably get.
- 46:48Maybe. Oh, maybe not.
- 46:49Oh, maybe. We will, you see.
- 46:55Where you called you on the. 8 ball or something they're going
- 46:57yeah, you see where you. Called you on the fence.
- 46:59You know it's not. It's not because we're mean.
- 47:04Yeah. So it shows you we didn't even
- 47:06know about the retailer wave back in January and we already
- 47:09have it in hand or pretty much in hand, so.
- 47:13Really well, really well with that one.
- 47:15Yeah, so some of them is quick. With new characters.
- 47:17Just those G con waves that take the time it is they.
- 47:23Want to get the? Yeah.
- 47:24Oh yeah. We bend.
- 47:25No, absolutely. Yeah, right.
- 47:29And it'll just give us a choice of 2 1/2 thousand figures at
- 47:31Legion's gone this year. It's going to be insane unless
- 47:37they have completely got rid of all their stock that they have
- 47:41now and just do the new stuff. I don't know.
- 47:43But even then it'll be insane, right?
- 47:46Three more to go. So OK, any idea?
- 47:49I mean it predict and figure obscure us, but I mean we
- 47:51obviously think maybe next Christmas the ghost of.
- 47:54Yeah, one of the. Ghosts, yeah.
- 47:58That's kind of the tease, isn't it?
- 48:00And then other than that, I've suggested maybe a bit something
- 48:03a bit more horror themed again towards October, but maybe not.
- 48:13You had it till the end. Next time, can you leave off
- 48:19the? Oh, maybe not.
- 48:23Don't be being genuine to our listeners.
- 48:25Also, I have to get really in there and clip it out then and
- 48:28it's going to sound weird. So yeah.
- 48:33So I mean, OK, Frankenstein, who was going to get Anubis and
- 48:36paste, I mean, Rich could have accidentally said it because he
- 48:38wanted Egyptian stuff, but I don't think he would have put it
- 48:41in figure. I think he would have put it in
- 48:43mythic, wouldn't you? 100%.
- 48:46So but I'm. Extremely happy they're doing
- 48:48that. Yeah, it was.
- 48:49Was that? Springtime.
- 48:53March. No, it was.
- 48:55It was May. June.
- 48:56Yeah. It was the first one of the
- 48:57year, but it was a bit later, wasn't?
- 48:59It the normal? Yeah, it was around the same
- 49:00time we got Monkey King in the year, so around the June time.
- 49:03Yeah. OK, second last one.
- 49:08Yeah, the only other thing I'd check out there would be, and we
- 49:11mentioned it before, but Blackbeard.
- 49:12Oh yeah, I think we're going to. Use it and he's, you know, he's
- 49:17the most iconic hire. I would say, particularly with
- 49:21the fuses in his beard and all that, you'd make him really
- 49:23quite demonic, almost. I mean, still a cool prediction
- 49:28slash suggestion. You know Blackbeard?
- 49:32Horribly wrong, but you never know for future.
- 49:35It's indeed right, and the last one maybe my favorite.
- 49:42To a dragon being ridden by a lizard man, then this is.
- 49:45He's desperate for those lizard man.
- 49:47Really are just had to get another lizard man referencing
- 49:52maybe? That's when I get the dragon.
- 49:58Now I'm going to have to have the snake men riding it out.
- 50:00I just do make a point. Exactly.
- 50:03Yeah, so. But no saddle for the dragon.
- 50:06So, you know, I think I think that's cool.
- 50:07I think the IT figures can just grab onto the talons or
- 50:11whatever. You know, that's what they do in
- 50:13in Game of Thrones, isn't it? They don't have a saddle in
- 50:16them. No, they nobody.
- 50:18Yeah, they're not. Game of Thrones, they didn't.
- 50:21House of Dragons they. Do oh, do they OK, Yeah, I mean,
- 50:25I've seen House. Yeah, it's like professional
- 50:27dragon riders versus some Yahoo that's just got three Dragons
- 50:30out of nowhere and go no, just up on the back of one of them.
- 50:33Makes sense if you think about it.
- 50:34Yeah. Yeah.
- 50:35She, she doesn't really know what she's doing, but she has
- 50:38the instinct. Yeah.
- 50:42Right. So that's the predictions.
- 50:43So shall we do recommendations? And then I think we're good.
- 50:48Did we want to talk a bit about Christmas as well?
- 50:50Did you win for that or? Are we good?
- 50:53Yeah. We can do a bit about Christmas,
- 50:54can't we? Yeah.
- 50:56That's the same. My mind is rotted so you guys
- 50:58might have to leave on that one. Right, and then seen as it was
- 51:04his birthday this week, we'll we'll do the transition with our
- 51:08friend. Hello there, this is your guy
- 51:12Kempool Collects and you are listening to the Hero Legion.
- 51:15So cheeky fellas, there's Kent. So happy birthday this weekend.
- 51:22Hope you had a great time. You got loads of messages on
- 51:24Facebook because you're popular guys, so I'm sure you had a good
- 51:28one. In my head, he's wearing a
- 51:30dressing gown. When you recorded that, I'm sure
- 51:31he wasn't. Yeah, with the the Deadpool,
- 51:33Yeah, yeah, yeah. That I can't.
- 51:36I can only see him like that now.
- 51:37So yeah, yeah, we have to do for the for the cover, the YouTube
- 51:43thumbnail for this one. We have to do just a picture of
- 51:46us all like each of us with their head in our hands.
- 51:49Better predictions. You could send me over those.
- 51:53That would be great. I could do that.
- 51:56Get someone else to take the photo.
- 52:00You can do one hand, you know. Just just asking the office
- 52:05mall. I won't think you're weird at
- 52:06all. Yeah, that's it.
- 52:07Could you just take a? Photo of me.
- 52:09I need it pretty early though, if we're going to get this out
- 52:15to our lovely patrons in time for them to listen tomorrow.
- 52:19Right. So Christmas then wanted to just
- 52:24as it's kind of coming up to Christmas, talk a little bit
- 52:26about what our Christmas traditions were when we were
- 52:30kids or what kind of what, what Christmas was like.
- 52:33I know for me, we had, you know, this was the time when everyone
- 52:37kind of came back home. There was way like my sister and
- 52:40my brother when I was, they were, they're good, but older
- 52:44than me. So they always were home for
- 52:45Christmas and we had family dinner and all that kind of
- 52:48stuff. Christmas tree obviously.
- 52:51And then loads of mass was brought up in a Catholic family
- 52:58and there was midnight mass, there was Christmas Day mass.
- 53:02Then there was the thing after mass of going around to all the
- 53:05relations houses in the town drinking cups of tea and the men
- 53:11would be given Brandy usually, and the women would be given
- 53:16either just tea or maybe like a hot 1 hot whiskey or some.
- 53:20And yeah, it was always my mom's challenge not to let my dad
- 53:24drink too much Brandy because then he would be just to write
- 53:27off for that. I didn't really know that as a
- 53:29kid, but when I was like a teenager, I realized like, yeah,
- 53:31that, you know, the the my aunts would always be like, oh,
- 53:36Brendan, do you want another Brandy?
- 53:38Do you want another Brandy? Oh, yeah.
- 53:39My mother would just be at the corner go.
- 53:40No, because he would basically just after dinner, after
- 53:45Christmas dinner, then he would be gone to bed.
- 53:48Completely. And he wasn't like, he wasn't
- 53:52crazy drunk or anything. It was just, he was, he's, he
- 53:55couldn't handle his drink, you know, in terms of just being
- 53:57drunk. So like two or three brandies
- 54:00and he'd be, you know, talking absolute horse crap.
- 54:05That wouldn't be anything bad, but it would be embarrassing.
- 54:07The head off my mother. Yeah.
- 54:09And the one thing Irish mammies don't like is being embarrassed
- 54:14in front of other people. It's all about the appearances.
- 54:18So yeah, that that was kind of the main memories of the
- 54:21Christmas traditions in terms of that.
- 54:22And then so the 26th year guys, Boxing Day, we call it Saint
- 54:26Stephen's Day, that was just everyone going to the pub
- 54:30because the pubs had been closed for a day.
- 54:32What the hell? So, and as I got older, that was
- 54:37the big, that was the big kind of football Premier, Premier
- 54:40League. Well, it wasn't as big of it.
- 54:42I mean it was always a thing, but it wasn't as big as a thing
- 54:45on TV in Ireland until mid 90s I'd say.
- 54:50And then it was like, yeah, just this kind of big because it was
- 54:53football. It's football all day, isn't it?
- 54:55On the 26th? Americans have the American
- 54:57football on Christmas Day, don't they?
- 54:59Christmas. Day.
- 55:00I know that's just. Whereas the Premier League
- 55:02football is on Boxing Day, which means those poor footballers
- 55:07have to probably not eat too much on Christmas Day, which
- 55:10that's got to be tricky because they're.
- 55:12Tapping their eyes with their with their thousands, hundreds
- 55:16of thousands of pounds, they can.
- 55:18I think, I think, I think it was one thing we could say about
- 55:20them. They're not poor.
- 55:22They have a very. Nice summer, yeah.
- 55:26And then for Christmas, yeah, I, I like we had, I had, we had
- 55:30Santa as a tradition and he always, it was Christmas
- 55:33morning. He always got the gifts.
- 55:35I never thought of anything different until I came over to
- 55:38where I live now, where everything is done on Christmas
- 55:41Eve or on the 5th of December is the Saint Nicholas day.
- 55:46But we just had Santa coming overnight, 24 to the 25th.
- 55:49And I just remember so often not being able to sleep and, you
- 55:53know, tossing and turns the one night of the year where, you
- 55:55know, basically it was just too hyped up to go to sleep.
- 55:59And yeah, it's awesome. We get the loving, it's fair to
- 56:04say. I was a good sleeper as a child.
- 56:06I still am now, because my dad used to, you know, big, big
- 56:10pillowcase at the bottom of the bed, which is where Santa left
- 56:12the presents. And my dad was the clumsiest man
- 56:15in the world. And never once did I wake up.
- 56:18And God knows how many times he tripped over stuff, dropped
- 56:20things, all that sort of stuff. So it's fair to say I was a good
- 56:23sleeper as a child. I'm not a good sleeper anymore,
- 56:27but I must have been because yeah, my dad used to do the very
- 56:29same thing as one of the memories I do have is going into
- 56:34my my folks room early on. I was, I look back, quite an
- 56:38annoying little shit. Hey, there must have been a sort
- 56:42of a wait or just about wait because we go in and then my
- 56:45sister came in not long after or with a bag of toys and I'm like,
- 56:51I didn't get anything. And they were like, Are you
- 56:52sure? Go look at the end of your bed.
- 56:55And I'd walked past it even like a big bag of toys, you know?
- 56:58But not. You got them at the at the end
- 57:00of the bed. Mine were always under the
- 57:03Christmas tree down in the sitting room.
- 57:05Oh no, mine was always end of the bed thing, Yeah.
- 57:08So my my gig was a little bit easier for Santa than he was.
- 57:11He didn't risk waking the child. Yeah, I think, I think some of
- 57:18my Christmas memories bit like you John, it was like, you know,
- 57:20the olden days as it were. So it was going round to friends
- 57:24houses Christmas mornings, you know, like new parents, friends
- 57:27houses, Christmas morning and a few drinks would be had and that
- 57:29sort of stuff. And then off to see my Gran on
- 57:34my dad's side sort of late morning on Christmas Day.
- 57:37For some reason they never seemed to come over to us.
- 57:39We always had to go over to them, the Christmas Day thing.
- 57:41And I remember vividly getting massive universe figures there
- 57:46that Santra delivered them there.
- 57:48So I picked up, picked those up there.
- 57:50It was the only four I ever had. It was like, hell, he's all
- 57:52right. But do you vividly remember
- 57:54getting them? Yeah, I got some for Christmas
- 57:58for sure at Transformers. I remember getting an Oculus
- 58:01Prime. Yes, one of my favourite it's
- 58:04not it's a run up to Christmas, I guess is when I I was old
- 58:08enough to know that obviously Santa, you know, spoiler, it may
- 58:11or may not be real if his children listening to this.
- 58:14So I, I was like, you know, full onto Transformers.
- 58:17Some folks like or just, you know, what Transformers do you
- 58:19want? So outcomes the Argos catalogue,
- 58:22which for American listeners, it's a shop where you can't see
- 58:26anything. Basically they just have a
- 58:27catalogue and you flick through it and you take a bit of paper
- 58:29up with a number on and then they go out the back and then
- 58:31bring you the the toy or whatever else you're buying.
- 58:33Kind of like Internet shopping like in the 80s.
- 58:37Although then one of the other quirks of Argos was you'd order
- 58:41this and it could have been that, that, that, that or that,
- 58:45and you didn't know which one you were getting.
- 58:47Yeah. Oh, like if it was a wave of
- 58:49Transformers, it'd be just one of them.
- 58:52Yes. Like, yeah, if there was like 6
- 58:54fig, I don't know Marvel figures in a wave, then yeah, you'd just
- 58:57get one because they're all under the same skew number.
- 58:59Yeah, yeah, and you could order two and end up with two of the
- 59:03same one, essentially. Ridiculous, but.
- 59:07Yeah, that was the year I got the Dyna bots, I remember.
- 59:10So I was there. Obviously there's five and I
- 59:12just like my folks, like, you know, I'm five.
- 59:15It's like, right, OK. And I spent so long trying to
- 59:17decide which three I want to do. I think I got four.
- 59:19And then they got me a bonus one as well sort of thing.
- 59:21So then they just left you one regard.
- 59:23I never had. That never had him.
- 59:26You never had who? I never had the Dyna.
- 59:28Swoop. Swoop.
- 59:29Pterodatal. Yeah, yeah, I never had the
- 59:32Dinobots either. They think they maybe passed
- 59:35learning by or I don't know what it.
- 59:37Was and then related to that sort of thing.
- 59:39It's we because I lived in the backwaters of North Wales.
- 59:43So the nearest it wasn't, it's not even a big city, but the
- 59:46nearest biggish city was Chester, just over the border in
- 59:49England. But in those days there was no
- 59:51dual carriage race. So it was like, you know, best
- 59:54part of two hours to get out there, sorting the rules, like
- 59:56potholes, windy roads and horrendous.
- 59:59But we'd go sort of early December every year sort of
- 1:00:01thing. And they had a toy and hobby
- 1:00:03store, which I'm not sure when they went out of business, but
- 1:00:06it was a long time ago, but effectively a Toys-R-Us, but on
- 1:00:08a slightly smaller scale. And it was just awesome because
- 1:00:11you just go in and there's just, you know, instead of having
- 1:00:13Woolworths with like a handful of toys where I lived, all of a
- 1:00:15sudden there's this. Proper toy shop with just racks
- 1:00:18of GI Joe figures. Oh my God.
- 1:00:20Literally was a once a year trip because it was so it took so
- 1:00:23long to get there sort of thing. So it was like a big like, oh,
- 1:00:26we're going to Chester, We're going to Chester.
- 1:00:28Amazing. Yeah, I had that.
- 1:00:31Before I was, the Galway is the big city.
- 1:00:33It's about only 14 miles away, but that seemed like, you know,
- 1:00:39a lot longer as a kid. Yeah, we had to.
- 1:00:44Sorry, John, you go. No, it was just, yeah, the road
- 1:00:46was, yeah, it was about a 40 minute drive or else you get the
- 1:00:49train and you know, you could. So 1/2.
- 1:00:52Yeah, but yeah, yeah, no, we had to go through a town called
- 1:00:56Conway on the Welsh coast and it was, it wasn't quite single
- 1:01:00lane, but it was so narrow that it may as well have been single
- 1:01:03lane at one point. So you've got all these people
- 1:01:05and it's like the only route through North Wales and just
- 1:01:07people trying to get virtually through a single lane cap.
- 1:01:09You're like looking back up now there's a tunnel underneath the
- 1:01:12estuary and they've tunneled through two of the mountains.
- 1:01:15So the dual carriageway all the way through.
- 1:01:18But yeah, in those days it's painful.
- 1:01:19And you can, it shows order on the Internet so.
- 1:01:22You can, I'm getting delivered. Yeah.
- 1:01:26And in terms of Christmas dinner, you, it was always a
- 1:01:28big, a big deal in, in your places, in your homes.
- 1:01:35Well, I'd sort of have to just talk a bit about it.
- 1:01:37This is really sounds so miserable.
- 1:01:39But it wasn't. We do.
- 1:01:41We used to for as long as the like I, I was a lot, you know,
- 1:01:45from my youth. My mum was a nurse or the RGN,
- 1:01:49which is like the registered nurse at a nursing home.
- 1:01:53So for most Christmases, she would work.
- 1:01:56So we'd get up, do the presents and then she'd be off to work.
- 1:01:58Oh yeah, yeah. So we didn't really do much
- 1:02:01after that, you know, Boxing Day, depending on whether she
- 1:02:05worked Boxing Day or not, we'd then do what you guys have
- 1:02:08talked about of either going to a family member or them coming
- 1:02:12us and and we'd probably have dinner on Boxing Day if we were
- 1:02:15going to do it again, depended on if my mum worked both days or
- 1:02:20just Christmas Day. She was doing it so other people
- 1:02:23didn't have to, you know, which, fair play to her.
- 1:02:26Yeah. Yeah, no, we weren't full on.
- 1:02:31Yeah. Sort of, yeah, Everything,
- 1:02:33everything you can imagine. My mum still does it.
- 1:02:36So you go up there and it's like, you know, there's piece of
- 1:02:39blankets and you're like, she's late 70s.
- 1:02:43Wow. So yeah.
- 1:02:44So you go up there and there's this like insanely big Turkey,
- 1:02:50you know, as if there's 1000 people coming round.
- 1:02:52It's just like, what? What the hell?
- 1:02:53No, no, no. And then there's pigs in
- 1:02:56blankets. So I'm not sure if that's the
- 1:02:59Americans have that, but it's sausage dropped in bacon.
- 1:03:01I think they, I hope they do, yeah.
- 1:03:03Yeah. And then and then there was this
- 1:03:05portion of sausage meat. You're like, why have we got
- 1:03:08sausage? We've already got sausages.
- 1:03:09What? And then the stuff and then the
- 1:03:12stuffing, another stuffing as well, which always had sausage
- 1:03:14meat in it as well. Sausage meat, meat.
- 1:03:16Stuffing there. Yeah.
- 1:03:18Christmas thing. Yeah, so it was just insane.
- 1:03:21It was like you had this like Turk, you know, a big Turkey big
- 1:03:23enough to eat you now mind the other way around.
- 1:03:25Plus 2/3 of a pig probably. And it's just and it's still the
- 1:03:29same now, I mean. I I always cook, I always cook
- 1:03:33Christmas dinner now here. And but like, we just get
- 1:03:36chicken because there's four of us and like what?
- 1:03:39My daughter doesn't eat meat, so there's only really three of us.
- 1:03:42And that's even then we still have leftovers for 2-3 days,
- 1:03:45four days depending on. So yeah, the Turkey is
- 1:03:50completely overkill unless you have like another family or two
- 1:03:53coming, you know? Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:03:56Last year, my mom was like, oh, let's get a Turkey crown.
- 1:03:59And we've almost came to blows, the two of us in the supermarket
- 1:04:02on Christmas Eve because you wanted like, I need this massive
- 1:04:04one. I was like, no, you don't.
- 1:04:05There's just four of us. Just get the smallest Turkey
- 1:04:07crown. You go no.
- 1:04:08And it won't take 8 hours to cook.
- 1:04:11Yeah, exactly. Yeah, we used to when I was a
- 1:04:15kid, we used to eat Turkey. But as I got older, I think it
- 1:04:18was whatever, you know, just the easier to do other things and
- 1:04:22and my sister cook has always been and got more and more picky
- 1:04:26about what she would eat. So.
- 1:04:28Oh wow. OK.
- 1:04:30Yeah, as an adult, we, if we ever we have Christmas in our
- 1:04:32house, we never ever have Turkey.
- 1:04:35We had beef Wellington one year, which was glorious.
- 1:04:38That's nice. But yeah, it's always beef or
- 1:04:41something like that instead. Not even a chicken necessarily.
- 1:04:44Yeah, cool. And favorite.
- 1:04:48So favorite thing you got for Christmas?
- 1:04:50I mean mine I remember getting obviously Transformers got some
- 1:04:55Masters of the universe. A big thing I wanted was a
- 1:04:58dartboard and I got one some point probably when I was about
- 1:05:0210. And then a console was the kind
- 1:05:05of last thing I got before, you know, the last thing I got from
- 1:05:10Santa who say, and it was bloody Saga Masters.
- 1:05:16I went to the Mega Drive, which is the Sega Genesis for for in
- 1:05:21in American, but I got the 8 bit.
- 1:05:23So the the masters, the Genesis was 16 bit.
- 1:05:26The Master system was 8 bit and but I still loved it.
- 1:05:30We had great time with it and I was the only one that had one
- 1:05:32because other people had the Mega Drive or Nintendo.
- 1:05:36So you know, kids used to get friends used to come round to
- 1:05:39play it because they didn't know the games.
- 1:05:42And it was actually quite good because the Mastersism games
- 1:05:44were more available for some reason in the low in the toy
- 1:05:47shop that I used to go to the big toy shop.
- 1:05:50And I think a lot of them got dumped in our, the Master System
- 1:05:57got dumped in our And I spoken to Australians as well about
- 1:06:01this and they say it's the same, that the, the Master System was
- 1:06:06huge there. And I think that, yeah, it
- 1:06:08didn't sell well in certain parts of the world.
- 1:06:11So a lot of it got kind of offloaded to certain countries
- 1:06:13that were maybe a little bit behind on the technology front
- 1:06:18at the time. So yeah, but it was great.
- 1:06:21So I'd say 3-4 years I was getting games for the big
- 1:06:24cartridges, really, really grim looking boxes.
- 1:06:28That was just, it was like, you know, your, your maths kind of
- 1:06:32homework copy book where you do your maths with all the squares.
- 1:06:35It was like a page of that with a little image on it.
- 1:06:38It was the boxes all the same, you know, except for the image
- 1:06:43of whatever the game was. And they had a couple of good,
- 1:06:46good games. Remember, they had a tennis game
- 1:06:48that was awesome. And this game called Enduro
- 1:06:50Racer, which is basically going at a diagonal on a on a moped or
- 1:06:55motorbike, jumping over more and more difficult ramps.
- 1:07:00And yeah, in the end it just gets to an insane difficulty
- 1:07:03that you can't manage anymore. And the machine I got came
- 1:07:08packaged in. It was built into the board.
- 1:07:11This game called Alex Kidd in Miracle World, one of the most
- 1:07:14difficult games of all time. And there's a point in it where
- 1:07:18you have to play rock, paper, scissors and you get like three
- 1:07:21goals. If you don't get them right,
- 1:07:23it's game over. So it's always the same.
- 1:07:26So you have to write it down and like, and then but like, you
- 1:07:29just get game over to the first time you get there.
- 1:07:31If you get it wrong and you get further, it happens further and
- 1:07:35further into, and you might have passed this impossible bit.
- 1:07:37And then you have to play rock, paper, scissors.
- 1:07:39And it's like, who taught of this?
- 1:07:43Yeah. It's hard to believe, isn't it,
- 1:07:46that I mean you're all the time, but the fact that you just that
- 1:07:49was it you the amount of times you restarted games and you
- 1:07:52pretty much play them through and then.
- 1:07:54You weren't. And then Sonic came out for it
- 1:07:56and that was mind blowing and I got Sonic one and two I think on
- 1:08:00it. And we're still pretty decent,
- 1:08:02although probably unplayable these days.
- 1:08:04But back in the day, you know, it's perfect.
- 1:08:07And you guys, Mal, Christmas presents, can you remember?
- 1:08:12I've only got sort of two memories, one more clear than
- 1:08:15the other, so I guess these must have been my favorite.
- 1:08:19So the big one is, and I've talked about this before, the
- 1:08:22Amiga 500. It was, you know, under a cover
- 1:08:27and we were doing normal sort of Christmas.
- 1:08:30I actually don't think my mum was working that year, but
- 1:08:32because I feel like she was around all day that day.
- 1:08:35But yeah, you know, doing the normal open, the bit, the, the
- 1:08:40smaller presents and all that. And then my dad was like, oh,
- 1:08:43what's that in the corner? He's like, what?
- 1:08:45What? I hadn't even noticed this huge
- 1:08:48thing under a cover and then whipped it off and it was the
- 1:08:51illegal. And of course it's for the
- 1:08:53family. You're sharing it.
- 1:08:55So you're kind of lying for your time that day.
- 1:08:58And I had it was the one that came with Batman.
- 1:09:02And I can't remember whether it was Dizzy or Rainbow Island
- 1:09:07because my sister got those quite quick succession.
- 1:09:10But for me, yeah, it's Batman mainly awesome.
- 1:09:13And yeah, and I feel like it was Dizzy.
- 1:09:16That was that was a hard game was imagine.
- 1:09:18So it was Batman. They were all heard back in the
- 1:09:22day. Yeah, and then the other one is
- 1:09:25I do. And it's a vague memory, but I
- 1:09:27do remember, you know, it being a Christmas, kind of getting
- 1:09:31Castle Gray School the one year. So yeah, yeah, that's awesome.
- 1:09:37I don't think I ever had Catholic grace got like, I kind
- 1:09:40of remember it, but I don't. Maybe one of my mates had it.
- 1:09:43I don't remember, personally haven't.
- 1:09:48It no, the the I was going to say this.
- 1:09:50Yeah. Still.
- 1:09:52This two that I remember so again like you guys, it's a
- 1:09:54computer 1. So I got an Amstrad 464, which
- 1:09:58is a very you know, cassette loading like a proper cassette
- 1:10:01games sort of thing. And I remember again Chester
- 1:10:05went to Chester got this one and there's a big debate about
- 1:10:08whether we should get just a green screen monitor or a colour
- 1:10:10monitor. I think it went with the green
- 1:10:12one in the end because it was. Considerably cheaper growth.
- 1:10:14Yeah, but yeah, you know, it's the game.
- 1:10:18The days of the the games are on tape.
- 1:10:19So you put it in, it would take 25 minutes, then you come
- 1:10:22upstairs and turn it over to the other side, pop it back in for
- 1:10:24another 25 minutes, and then just for the end you go, no,
- 1:10:28there's a problem, and you start the whole thing again.
- 1:10:30How? Much time did we have that We
- 1:10:32could do that, you know. Apparently years and years to
- 1:10:34play these games. Yeah, I think we slept.
- 1:10:37You know. But no, it came with like, you
- 1:10:39know, some basic games like Commando.
- 1:10:42Don't you guys remember that one?
- 1:10:43Just scrolling up the screen? Akari Warriors.
- 1:10:46I love those sorts. Of Warriors was my favorite
- 1:10:48arcade game as a kid. That and Double Dragon.
- 1:10:51Oh yeah, and actually found an emulator of it at some point a
- 1:10:54couple of years ago. OK.
- 1:10:56Ages and then I got it on the switch.
- 1:10:59You can actually get a you can actually get a it's a it's a
- 1:11:04game that comes with like 40 different games from this
- 1:11:06company. Oh that's interesting.
- 1:11:09The Carrie Warriors arcade version is on it and it's
- 1:11:12exactly as I remember and it's still.
- 1:11:14I will be looking for that. Thank you, John.
- 1:11:15I'll. I'll get you the name of it, but
- 1:11:17yeah, came out, yeah, good while ago.
- 1:11:20And then and then my other what my other memory, particular
- 1:11:23memory for a, a toy, you'd never ever be allowed to buy it
- 1:11:27nowadays. But these were, you know, they
- 1:11:28were more relaxed times in terms of health and safety.
- 1:11:30And there's a game called Crossfire, and it was, it was
- 1:11:34really Tasering. People.
- 1:11:36It must have been at least 5 foot, probably 6 foot long.
- 1:11:39I've forgotten at my moment. I should I should measure it
- 1:11:40next moment there massive game and there's, you know, like air
- 1:11:44hockey. Yeah, think of that sort of of
- 1:11:47board. So it's got like a little
- 1:11:48plastic sides and that sort of thing.
- 1:11:50But at each end, you've got a gun that's attached to the
- 1:11:53attached to the the game. And you fire metal ball bearings
- 1:11:57out these little. It's like an ice hockey puck in
- 1:12:00the middle and you're trying to hit, hit that into a goal at the
- 1:12:02other end and you're firing metal ball bearings like full
- 1:12:06on. Yeah.
- 1:12:08And it's. Someone at the other side, I
- 1:12:09suppose. Yeah, sure.
- 1:12:10Yeah. Somebody in the red trying to
- 1:12:12trying to get into your thing, you know, so if anything gets
- 1:12:14stuck and you put your finger out to try and move something,
- 1:12:16you know you could break a finger with your opponent.
- 1:12:18It just decides to. Find it it's it's they came out
- 1:12:20of quite a force or. Oh like, Oh yes, you've heard it
- 1:12:24was finger breaking sort of force.
- 1:12:26They would never ever get it nowadays.
- 1:12:29It's insane. But yeah, because I think
- 1:12:32because it was just so dangerous, I think that's
- 1:12:34probably why I remember getting it and just set it up and like
- 1:12:36just blasting. It's probably it's probably
- 1:12:40quite rare on eBay these days, isn't is it?
- 1:12:43I need to check because I still got it in box at my mum's house.
- 1:12:47Could be funding legions gone 25 not safe for anybody game.
- 1:12:54Yeah, Yeah. I wonder if you may be like,
- 1:12:55yeah, you can't sell that. That's that's too dangerous.
- 1:12:57You have people like injuring themselves using that, no?
- 1:13:01Yeah, So that's that. Anything more for Christmas or
- 1:13:06should we? We.
- 1:13:07I think I've talked previously about my GI Joe Alpine climbing
- 1:13:10the Christmas tree over. There of.
- 1:13:12Course of the festive period and I had AGI Joe classified Alpine
- 1:13:15arrive last week, so there's a pretty good chance he's going to
- 1:13:19be going to tree. This year need need photographic
- 1:13:21evidence please. You're never too old for that
- 1:13:23sort of thing. So that will definitely be
- 1:13:25happening. Yeah.
- 1:13:27And I think, I think there's an adult too.
- 1:13:28I think one we used to. Holly's too old now she's 12.
- 1:13:31But in the days where, you know, she was convinced there was a
- 1:13:34Santa and Watson, if there is or not kids if listening, but she
- 1:13:37was convinced there was a Santa. So we used to go to these like
- 1:13:39Christmas themed events sort of thing.
- 1:13:41So one year Kerry was like, I know there's there's a down in
- 1:13:44Bristol Harbour. You get on board a little boat,
- 1:13:47you poot around the harbour for about half an hour.
- 1:13:50You have mince pie, you know, glass of wine or whatever sort
- 1:13:52of thing. And Father Christmas comes on,
- 1:13:55AKA Santa gives the kids a present.
- 1:13:58Oh, that sounds pretty good. So this is the three of us and
- 1:14:01Kerry's best friend and her and husband and two kids, the seven
- 1:14:04as we get on this boat, it's a tiny little boat, but we get on
- 1:14:07and the kids kids are quite young.
- 1:14:09So the kids, probably Holly was probably three or four, and then
- 1:14:14the other two were a couple of years older and a year younger
- 1:14:16sort of thing. And it's all great.
- 1:14:18And then all of a sudden the captain goes, oh, Santa's over
- 1:14:21there. See, everyone looks out the
- 1:14:23window of this little boat and there's Santa stood on the
- 1:14:25quayside and he's waving with his bag of presents and this
- 1:14:28sort of stuff. So, so we go over and Santa gets
- 1:14:31on board and Santa is paralytic drunk.
- 1:14:35I mean, he's like hammered, hammered drunk.
- 1:14:40So he, he, he, he wobbles onto the and bear in mind this is a
- 1:14:43boat, obviously. So it's, you know, it's a little
- 1:14:45bit, you know, it's a harbour. It's not particularly choppy,
- 1:14:46but it's a little bit. So he's like, ohh.
- 1:14:49And he gets to his seat and he gives out like one present and
- 1:14:52he shouts the captain, where's Santas special drink And you're
- 1:14:55like, oh God, this is an episode of Father Ted now Jesus Christ.
- 1:14:59And it and it arrived and he wolfed it down, then gave a
- 1:15:01couple more presents out. He's like, where's Santas
- 1:15:03special drink and this. And it's like, God, no wonder
- 1:15:05he's doing this is like his fourth or fifth boat trip of the
- 1:15:07day. No wonder he's so drunk.
- 1:15:09It was amazing. And then like the adults were
- 1:15:11just wetting them. The kids didn't know what was
- 1:15:12happening. We were just wetting ourselves
- 1:15:14laughing. It's like this is.
- 1:15:16I wondered, did Santa? Was Santa getting paid in a
- 1:15:19special drink then? Maybe.
- 1:15:22Yeah, it was so funny. That's a memory that will stay
- 1:15:25with me forever. Oh, I love that.
- 1:15:27That's perfect. I think that rounds off our
- 1:15:30Christmas section perfectly. Right, Let's get on to
- 1:15:36recommendations. Hi, I'm Paul Zach Wally 22974 on
- 1:15:41Instagram and you're listening to the Euro Legions podcast, the
- 1:15:44best podcast. Oh, thank you, Paul.
- 1:15:47Thank you, Paul. Awesome.
- 1:15:49Thank you. So yeah.
- 1:15:51Thank you that beer as well. Legions Conduit.
- 1:15:52I just have so many, so many things on the soundboard now
- 1:15:56because of all those clips thing.
- 1:16:00I was like, I couldn't find where my people were, right?
- 1:16:04So we've got some recommends. So the first thing I want to
- 1:16:08recommend, I actually remembered it and it's really old thing,
- 1:16:12but I remembered it from talking about Christmas in the 80s and
- 1:16:15whatever on inner in my downstairs toilet here.
- 1:16:18So we're starting a bit grim here.
- 1:16:20I have a little stack of books that I read because I try not
- 1:16:23to, you know, just be on the phone, on the toilet, trying to,
- 1:16:28to read again. But it's not books, it's books
- 1:16:31that I've read for years. And I actually found them the
- 1:16:35last time I was back home in Ireland, my mother's house.
- 1:16:40The Adrian Mole books, you remember them?
- 1:16:42Did you read them? I never read them, but I know of
- 1:16:44them. Sue Townsend is the author and
- 1:16:47she's hilarious, and she has a couple of other books that are
- 1:16:50I've read as well. They're quite funny.
- 1:16:52But yeah, the, so the Diary of Adrian Mole aged I think 13 3/4
- 1:16:57is the first one. It's from 1981 or two.
- 1:17:00And I think it just, if you want to find out what the 80s was
- 1:17:03like, especially in Britain or Ireland, I think to an extent
- 1:17:08it's just perfect. It's so funny.
- 1:17:10It's so dry, humid. It's so like he, he's, he's not
- 1:17:16aware of half the stuff that's going on, but it's, it's, it's
- 1:17:22just so funny. And yeah, he's a bit of a
- 1:17:25disaster, but he thinks he's he's not.
- 1:17:27And he wants to be a poet in the end and all this kind of stuff.
- 1:17:31He has all these ambitions, ends up in, you know, kind of a
- 1:17:34boring office job. And yeah, it did.
- 1:17:39They still weren't good. Yeah.
- 1:17:41They still. She did them up until he was in
- 1:17:45his 40s or 50s. So like that.
- 1:17:48There is one from like just a couple years ago.
- 1:17:50I think she died not so long ago, but I think I read that.
- 1:17:55I listened to the last one on the audio book.
- 1:17:57That's how recent it was. I love them.
- 1:18:00I just love the character. He's such, a, you know, he's
- 1:18:03such a miserable guy. Makes you feel better about
- 1:18:06yourself. So that it kind of makes me feel
- 1:18:09nostalgic, which is weird because I don't try and do
- 1:18:11nostalgia with toy collecting as much.
- 1:18:13I mean, I like some of the older stuff, but nostalgia doesn't
- 1:18:16tend to be my driver. But I get nostalgic sometimes
- 1:18:18about old stuff like that, like books or movies.
- 1:18:21If I watch Only Fools and Horses, even though I never
- 1:18:24lived in London or you know, that it somehow makes me
- 1:18:27nostalgic for the 80s. I don't know why, you know?
- 1:18:30And that's a real British show, so it's funny.
- 1:18:33Anyway, So what have you guys got to recommend before I people
- 1:18:38get sick? Listen to me.
- 1:18:41Rich a Christmas film I would and would recommend is and
- 1:18:46people probably I mean you know some of the like you know, the
- 1:18:49best Christmas film ever Scrooged Bill Murray, but
- 1:18:52everybody knows about that one. So a lesser known one I would
- 1:18:55recommend is a Finnish film called Rare Exports, A Christmas
- 1:18:59Tale. This is described on Wikipedia
- 1:19:02as a fantasy, action, horror comedy film.
- 1:19:05I think that pretty what much sums it up.
- 1:19:08I saw the trailer for it a few years ago.
- 1:19:11Oh, it's 2010, so quite a few years ago now.
- 1:19:13And it starts off with, you know, it's Christmas, everyone's
- 1:19:16happy. And then he just goes to a snow
- 1:19:19covered field with just reindeer parts spread all over it just
- 1:19:22and you're like, OK. And the premise is that Santa,
- 1:19:26that Santa is a, a demon basically who was imprisoned
- 1:19:32centuries ago. And these gold miners or oil
- 1:19:35miners or whatever they are, oil diggers free him accidentally.
- 1:19:38And then it just goes horribly wrong.
- 1:19:40And it's such a good film. So does Santa have a demon Wang?
- 1:19:46If he did, he kept it hidden, but probably that's.
- 1:19:48Probably good then that, although that recommends the
- 1:19:50film even more so. It's probably cold.
- 1:19:53Yeah, he might have retreated, but yeah, yeah, I thoroughly
- 1:19:57recommend that for an oddball Christmas film.
- 1:20:00But it sounds bonkers and I'm sure I'll never watch it, but
- 1:20:03I'm sure there is people that listen that that would.
- 1:20:05Be Mouse mouse smile the scenes I mentioned.
- 1:20:07I I bought it on the first time I heard of it because I couldn't
- 1:20:12find it anywhere. I bought it on DVD so and.
- 1:20:15Is it in English or is it a subtitle job or?
- 1:20:19Both. It's both.
- 1:20:20Yeah, subtitles. Finish, which funnily enough was
- 1:20:26one of my recommendations as well because it's I always do
- 1:20:29because it's something not everyone's seen.
- 1:20:31So yeah, but one of my other recommendations I finally got
- 1:20:36around to watching Violent Night with David Harper playing Santa
- 1:20:40Claus. Is that good?
- 1:20:41I've still not seen it. It's really good.
- 1:20:44I actually want to buy it on DVD.
- 1:20:46So OK, when it goes off the streaming services, oh, we
- 1:20:50should say rare exports you can currently get on Prime.
- 1:20:53Thank you. Now for people, no problem.
- 1:20:55And violent night is currently on Netflix for anyone who's got
- 1:20:59that. But yeah, Santa Claus, he
- 1:21:02without saying too much about what goes on, he he's getting a
- 1:21:07bit fed up with Christmas. It's his only day that he has to
- 1:21:13work. What's wrong with him?
- 1:21:15Well. That's why he's fed up.
- 1:21:16Behind yeah, there's a story on that as well.
- 1:21:19He's and he goes to drop this presents off at this this house,
- 1:21:24this wealthy family and it's all gone a bit wrong and kicked off.
- 1:21:28But it's it's really good. It's a good action film.
- 1:21:32It's good. It is genuinely funny at points
- 1:21:36and David Harper's, he's excellent.
- 1:21:38I think he's quite underrated as an actor, to be fair to.
- 1:21:43Another random 1, and I'm not sure if I've covered this on the
- 1:21:45show or not before, but another random Christmas film called Fat
- 1:21:48Man starring, starring Mel Gibson as Father Christmas.
- 1:21:54And the the premise is that Father Christmas doesn't deliver
- 1:21:59a present to a young boy and that young boy gets extremely
- 1:22:02angry and hires a hit man to take out Father Christmas.
- 1:22:07And Father Christmas is quite a bad ass.
- 1:22:09So it's not as if he's like, you know, worried, particularly by
- 1:22:12the hit man. It's, it's, it's really weird,
- 1:22:14but really good fun. And Walter Goggins plays the
- 1:22:16hitman and Walter Goggins is great in everything he does.
- 1:22:20So yeah, it's it's very weird, but very good.
- 1:22:23I thoroughly enjoyed that. I got the ones ATV series
- 1:22:30actually that I that set well it was released last.
- 1:22:34Christmas or the Christmas? Before Swedish series on Netflix
- 1:22:39again called Elves, and that's another horror one about elves.
- 1:22:47And that's all I can, I really want to say about it.
- 1:22:51It's. Yeah, it's, I think, I think you
- 1:22:54can. It's either subtitled or I think
- 1:22:56there was an English dub to it as well.
- 1:22:59But yeah, yeah, it's a good one. Yeah.
- 1:23:01Worth the what? And Fat Man's available on Prime
- 1:23:02Video if anybody wants to watch. This could be just in the UK
- 1:23:06though, because prime is random. Potentially, yes, Yeah.
- 1:23:10Although probably UKUS is probably similar.
- 1:23:14Yeah, I know in this foreign language countries like I'm in,
- 1:23:16it can often be different. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:23:20Netflix will be a bit different, unfortunately for us, but yeah,
- 1:23:24yeah. But yeah, at least it's it, it
- 1:23:27does exists on some streaming service.
- 1:23:29So if it's on a streaming service in UK, it'll probably be
- 1:23:32on the streaming service in US. And can I check a couple of non
- 1:23:36festive series that are out but they're out?
- 1:23:37That's what. Now that's all I have.
- 1:23:39OK, yeah, not some non ones, so. But I'll just do one then first
- 1:23:44and you guys can pitch in. The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix.
- 1:23:48Series 3 dropped in October. I think we're just getting
- 1:23:51around to it now. Brilliant series.
- 1:23:54Lawyer that does all his work in the back of a Lincoln because
- 1:23:56he's so busy. So as a show for, hence The
- 1:23:58Lincoln Lawyer. I think there's a film with
- 1:24:00Matthew McConaughey donkeys years ago around the same thing.
- 1:24:04Yeah, it's a different actor playing it now and it's like a
- 1:24:07series. It's based on the book, isn't
- 1:24:09it? It is, yeah.
- 1:24:10There's a series of. Books, I think like a famous
- 1:24:12writer, one of the famous kind of thriller writers.
- 1:24:15Yeah, but I highly recommend that on Netflix.
- 1:24:17Yeah, it's a great series. I watched it probably around the
- 1:24:21time we came out. Then it was kind of we didn't
- 1:24:23have much on our list and it came out at the right time.
- 1:24:28Yeah. I'm currently watching the Day
- 1:24:30of the Jackal on prime. No, not on prime.
- 1:24:32It's on Sky, HBO, Sky. So HBO in the in the US it's
- 1:24:39amazing. It's with.
- 1:24:41The. So the guy that plays a news
- 1:24:46commander in Fantastic Beasts was a bit different in this one,
- 1:24:49but it's brilliant. Yeah.
- 1:24:51So he's he's an assassin basically.
- 1:24:53And the 1st, the 1st 10 minutes of it and you're already like
- 1:24:58writing booked. I mean, it's absolutely
- 1:25:02fantastic. And yeah, I think there'll
- 1:25:06there's 9 episodes out already and I think the last one might
- 1:25:09be this week or there's two more, I'm not sure.
- 1:25:11But yeah, it's really, it's really good story and based on
- 1:25:17it's based on a book. I can't remember who wrote it
- 1:25:20again, but it's a friend. Of a Forsythe book, isn't it, I
- 1:25:22think. Might be.
- 1:25:24Yeah, the day of the Jackal, yeah.
- 1:25:26Yeah, it's Frederick Forsyth, I'm sure.
- 1:25:28Yeah. And yeah, just just excellent.
- 1:25:31He is amazing in it. I mean, he doesn't have a lot of
- 1:25:36it. He doesn't have many lines, but
- 1:25:38you know, because he's he's a bit of a cold guy in the in the
- 1:25:41way. And he's also leading the kind
- 1:25:44of a double life behind the scenes as well.
- 1:25:45So yeah, just really well done. And I think they've obviously
- 1:25:49modernized it because, you know, a lot of it's done through the
- 1:25:52Internet in terms of, you know, how he gets hired and stuff like
- 1:25:54that. So they've modernized the story.
- 1:25:57But yeah, absolutely, highly, highly recommended.
- 1:26:00Now, I haven't seen the finale yet, so hopefully that doesn't
- 1:26:03become a damn script, but I don't think so, you know?
- 1:26:07So yeah, that's one. That's one for me.
- 1:26:09Mal, have you got anything else? Oh yeah, I've got a load up.
- 1:26:12I wrote quite a few things down Let's go movies though, so yeah.
- 1:26:19OK, so recently watched Hellboy the Crooked Man.
- 1:26:23I saw Jesse Arnold mention this and how good he thought it was
- 1:26:28on Facebook and I've got to agree with him.
- 1:26:30It was really, really good. It's funny because it's probably
- 1:26:33lower budget than the previous Hellboy films, but he actually
- 1:26:36feels the most like Hellboy and it all OK.
- 1:26:43Yeah, it's really good. The Crooked Man is sort of a
- 1:26:48myth demon type thing and it's actually set.
- 1:26:54Is it during the war? What are the first or Second
- 1:26:56World War etcetera? Must be I think it was Second
- 1:26:59World War etcetera. So yeah, it's a bit further back
- 1:27:04in time, which adds to the the interest.
- 1:27:07It's a good then another one I've watched recently and I
- 1:27:13actually spotted this on the plane on the way to did it.
- 1:27:18Was it on the way to? Yes, it was on the way to New
- 1:27:21Jersey, but it's it was one of these that wait, so I should
- 1:27:29explain what it is. It's set in, it's set in Belfast
- 1:27:34and it's about a real life story of a rap group that became
- 1:27:38figureheads, unexpected figureheads for the civil rights
- 1:27:44movement and helped bring back the Irish language in Belfast.
- 1:27:50Oh, that's quite a recent thing, isn't it?
- 1:27:51Yes, Yeah. Well, it's the band in.
- 1:27:55The band plays themselves in it and it's called Kneecap, which
- 1:27:59was, I don't think that was the name of the band.
- 1:28:01I don't know if that was the Well, is that the name of the
- 1:28:03band? Yeah, that's on Prime and
- 1:28:06actually started to watch it on the plane to New Jersey, but it
- 1:28:10starts off Irish language and I thought, I'm not sure in the
- 1:28:13mood to sit and read the subtitles, but it does.
- 1:28:16It switches back and forth throughout and it's absolutely
- 1:28:19fantastic. It's really funny at points and,
- 1:28:23you know, and really, it handles the troubles really well.
- 1:28:28You know, it's not too in your face and too heavy, but it's
- 1:28:31also very poignant at points as well.
- 1:28:34So really worth the watch. And then the other one I've
- 1:28:39seen, this is a little while ago now, but very good Late night
- 1:28:42with the Devil, which is also on prime.
- 1:28:45A horror, a horror film starring David Dalmatian is it, who was
- 1:28:52who's been in a lot of things. And he he plays a talk show host
- 1:28:57and they bring a girl onto who's possessed and it it goes
- 1:29:02horribly wrong, as you can imagine.
- 1:29:05Yeah, yeah, cool. A few TV shows as well, but
- 1:29:08other people talk. Can I, can I pitch in very
- 1:29:11quickly? I don't want to do it at the end
- 1:29:13because it'd be a negative finish.
- 1:29:14But what we're recommending films, can I recommend one for
- 1:29:18people to stay away from because it is God awful and it's one I
- 1:29:22found. Well, I think it was prime
- 1:29:24recently called Out of Darkness. And it's about it's about a
- 1:29:27group of Neolithic hunters who travel to this far off land to
- 1:29:31try and find good hunting ground.
- 1:29:34And it all goes probably wrong and there's like a demonic
- 1:29:36thing. I I can't say how I finished
- 1:29:38because I gave up three quarters.
- 1:29:39The way through this is just terrible.
- 1:29:40You walked out of your own. You walked out of your own
- 1:29:42syndrome. Yeah.
- 1:29:45It's really low budget and to I think to make it worse, they
- 1:29:49have them speaking some sort of dialect, like completely
- 1:29:52made-up. So you have to listen to them
- 1:29:54speak into this nonsense made-up language and watch the subtitles
- 1:29:57and like, you are kidding me, aren't you?
- 1:29:59This is not as if it, this is like no on the earth.
- 1:30:03It's just terrible. I think avoid like big problems
- 1:30:06with Prime, although I pay for the shipping as much as I pay
- 1:30:10for the movies. It's there's just hundreds,
- 1:30:13possibly thousands of really low budget movies and they're
- 1:30:18dreadful. Most of them are awful.
- 1:30:21This one is just some student films I've seen.
- 1:30:24They've seen some really good student films.
- 1:30:26And these are worse. And yet somebody's given them a
- 1:30:29decent budget to make them and without, you know, getting my
- 1:30:34soapbox now. And they're just, they're just
- 1:30:38dreadful. Yeah.
- 1:30:39And you can tell they're, and, and there's such high concepts
- 1:30:42like that at points and they, it's like, why?
- 1:30:45Why did you why didn't you do something simple?
- 1:30:48It would have been so much better.
- 1:30:50Yeah, anyway. Just something I wanted to
- 1:30:53quickly shout out. So you were talking about the
- 1:30:56Northern Irish band Whatever. I'm listening to podcast at the
- 1:30:59moment called Steak Knife. The actual podcast is called
- 1:31:03Cover and the season is called Steak Knife on BBC Sounds, and
- 1:31:10you'll find it in all the podcast players.
- 1:31:12But it's about this British spy inside the IRA.
- 1:31:16True story from the 80s and it's fantastically done and the
- 1:31:23production is done by these the best probably the best podcast
- 1:31:29producers in Ireland that we have.
- 1:31:31They had they went out their own and Patreon.
- 1:31:33There's there were sports podcasts and they went down
- 1:31:35their own and Patreon in 2013 or so.
- 1:31:38They were on the main talk radio station in Ireland and they
- 1:31:44wanted to, they were doing the late night kind of slot with all
- 1:31:46the sport and they wanted to kind of get a daytime slot and
- 1:31:50they wouldn't give it to them. So they all mask quit and formed
- 1:31:53their own company and they do podcasts now.
- 1:31:55So I listen mainly to their sports show, but they have this
- 1:31:58show that they produce for BBC and they do different seasons on
- 1:32:01different things every year. And this one is it's not
- 1:32:04finished yet, but it's really well done.
- 1:32:06It's really well. Oh, that sounds really good.
- 1:32:08It's very good. Obviously all of the news over
- 1:32:10here, wasn't it? Yeah, a couple of years.
- 1:32:12So it's a very interesting topic.
- 1:32:13Yeah. So, yeah, the the second episode
- 1:32:19is basically he spends the whole kind of day driving around with
- 1:32:22the father of the guy, one of the guys that got killed in this
- 1:32:26and who was a former member of the IRA as well.
- 1:32:29And they kind of traced the whole route that the guy went on
- 1:32:33that kind of between the time he was kind of taken and murdered a
- 1:32:37couple of weeks later or whatever.
- 1:32:39And it's just really, really, really well done.
- 1:32:42They know how to do, you know, produce an audio kind of
- 1:32:45documentary show. It's really good.
- 1:32:47So anyway, that wasn't one of my list, but it just jogged my
- 1:32:51memory there. We mentioned.
- 1:32:53Yeah, definitely. Yeah.
- 1:32:55And the yeah, the Brit, the steak knife was the name of the
- 1:32:57code name of the British Army spy inside the RA.
- 1:33:01So that was basically. And what was the name of the
- 1:33:05actual podcast? Again, cover.
- 1:33:06So cover. They have a couple of seasons on
- 1:33:09BBC Sounds and I think if you listen to it on BBC Sounds
- 1:33:12itself, so on the app, they're they're a week ahead on the
- 1:33:16episodes. So and it's free.
- 1:33:19It's not you don't need to pay for BBC Sounds, right?
- 1:33:23And you lucky guys in the UK don't get ads.
- 1:33:26US BBC listeners outside of the UK have to suffer through ads.
- 1:33:30It's not too bad, but you know. That's always a weird thing.
- 1:33:33We're in America. I bring up bring up BBC Sport
- 1:33:36when we're in America and there's adverts all over it,
- 1:33:38like what the hell? Yeah, it's like I downloaded a
- 1:33:41couple of podcasts and you know, in the hotel for the plane on
- 1:33:44the way home, you know, halfway through the normal podcast and
- 1:33:47listen to this big American ad. And I'm like what?
- 1:33:51I realize just when they download it in America, you get
- 1:33:54the region specific ads kind of because the ads are just
- 1:33:57automatically inserted by the companies that produce the
- 1:34:00podcasts or that are host podcasts.
- 1:34:03And like if we had a couple of thousand more listeners, we
- 1:34:06could get advertising on our show.
- 1:34:10Don't think it would be to be recommended.
- 1:34:13You need to be doing a lot of numbers to be making money off
- 1:34:16that kind of stuff, right. Anything else you have said you
- 1:34:20had a lot so. Yeah, I've just, I mean, some of
- 1:34:24them are pretty old, so people have possibly seen them.
- 1:34:27But I've recently finished watching Cyberpunk Edge runners
- 1:34:32on Netflix and it was really, really good.
- 1:34:34I think you're going to have to kind of like anime and cyberpunk
- 1:34:37to to appreciate it, but I really, really enjoyed it.
- 1:34:44Star Trek Lower Decks is currently into its new season.
- 1:34:49It's about eight of seven or eight of 10 episodes.
- 1:34:54I've sort of held off watching it to Trump because they're so
- 1:34:57easy to watch. You fly through themselves.
- 1:35:00But I can't help it. I did.
- 1:35:01I need to see it. And comfort television.
- 1:35:03First couple, yeah, yeah, first couple have been more of the
- 1:35:07same. Did you see?
- 1:35:08I can't remember which Star Trek show it was.
- 1:35:10I want, I want to say strange in Your Worlds, but it might not
- 1:35:12have been where the lower deck crew came through as real they.
- 1:35:15Did a crossover. They did a crossover.
- 1:35:17It was so cleverly done. I've never seen Lower Decks, but
- 1:35:20I knew what it was and it was so cleverly done that they came
- 1:35:23through as real people. Well, I'd tried to watch Lower
- 1:35:26Decks before I started watching Strange New Worlds, and I just
- 1:35:30wasn't keen. I couldn't get into it.
- 1:35:31But then I saw those episodes of Strange New Worlds with Lower
- 1:35:35Decks guys, I thought, I've got to give it another go.
- 1:35:38I've got to try again. And the I got into it that time
- 1:35:40and you know, me too, excellent. So I don't know.
- 1:35:43I might give that a go then. Worth a watch Monarch on Apple
- 1:35:46TV's worth a watch that's about Godzilla and you know that world
- 1:35:54of monsters Monarch being the company that are chasing
- 1:35:59Godzilla, trying to harness all the is there.
- 1:36:01Somebody quite famous in that. Yeah, there's the Russells.
- 1:36:05So Wyatt Russell and Kurt Russell are in it.
- 1:36:08Kurt Russell isn't going to be Yeah.
- 1:36:10Yeah, who is also in if you want another good Christmas film,
- 1:36:14Christmas Chronicles, which I watched.
- 1:36:15That's a great one. Yeah, that's.
- 1:36:18That's one of the ones that my wife tolerates.
- 1:36:20So yeah, that's that's going to be on our TV this weekend.
- 1:36:22Kurt Russell though an older one but worth a watch because
- 1:36:27there's a new series coming early next year is SAS Rogue
- 1:36:31Heroes. I don't know how people outside
- 1:36:33the UK watch it because it's on iPlayer.
- 1:36:36I do think you can get iPlayer outside the UK.
- 1:36:38Kindly no. It's BBC thing.
- 1:36:41No, no, but it might be sold like.
- 1:36:45On BBC America or the equivalent, whatever they do,
- 1:36:49but yeah, SAS, rogue heroes, it's kind of the is it a the?
- 1:36:52Fictional true story. OK, It's a drama, OK Yeah, yeah,
- 1:36:57yeah. It's not a documentary or
- 1:36:58whatever, no. But use it.
- 1:37:01It's using real, you know the actors are playing the real
- 1:37:04people. But gotcha.
- 1:37:05Yeah, it's based on the drama based on.
- 1:37:07The of it, yeah, of course. Got to make it for TV.
- 1:37:11Yeah, yeah. Anything else for you, Rich?
- 1:37:15Oh I was just going to say, started watching Star Wars
- 1:37:18skeleton crew on Disney OH. Yeah, I'm kind of, let's know,
- 1:37:21loving it. So OK, it's good.
- 1:37:24Great. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:37:26Got everything I like. It's the.
- 1:37:28Very. And space adventures, so.
- 1:37:30OK, I'm very skeptical on Star Wars.
- 1:37:33Now I need to get back into the zone.
- 1:37:37I didn't watch the the series before this one.
- 1:37:40I can't remember what it was called.
- 1:37:41The live action one. Polite.
- 1:37:43Yeah. Yeah, no.
- 1:37:44I still really know mixed reviews on that.
- 1:37:46So it's like and then they cancelled it.
- 1:37:47So it's just like. There was good things and bad
- 1:37:50things about it. I didn't hate it as much as a
- 1:37:53lot of people did, but I thought there's some really cool stuff
- 1:37:56in here. But it's a shame it got
- 1:37:58cancelled. I'd have liked to have seen
- 1:38:00where it went. I struggled with Andor as well.
- 1:38:03I know lots of people loved Andor, but I couldn't get
- 1:38:06through it. And or harder to watch.
- 1:38:08Yeah, go through it. I had a real love hate
- 1:38:10relationship with it and I got into a period of of watching
- 1:38:12quite a few in a row and then for some reason didn't watch the
- 1:38:15last ones. I got distracted and so long
- 1:38:16gone back to it. Yeah, that's when you know.
- 1:38:18And that that sums that sums up my thing with Andor I think.
- 1:38:22Yeah, I think if you if you don't automatically go back to
- 1:38:25it, then sorry. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:38:28The first episode was like, what?
- 1:38:29Get on with it, you know? Yeah, Oh, the first two I think
- 1:38:32was just so slow. And then it peaked and then it
- 1:38:35frittered out and it was like that waste of a.
- 1:38:38Couple of series 2 is coming out next year, isn't it so?
- 1:38:41I'll give it a. They felt the need.
- 1:38:42Yeah, it. Was very popular.
- 1:38:46There's also next year an Aliens TV series coming out as well.
- 1:38:51Yes, so excited we look. Really good.
- 1:38:53Yeah, very excited about that. Be good, Yeah?
- 1:38:56Peaked and frittered out. Man, that sounds familiar.
- 1:39:02And Oh yeah, I watched. So because I watched, I've
- 1:39:07watched the, the The Beatles documentary on Disney so many
- 1:39:13times. The what's it called now again?
- 1:39:19Get back, get back The Beatles documentary.
- 1:39:21And there was a new one called Abbey Road, If these walls Could
- 1:39:25Sing. And it's basically a documentary
- 1:39:27about Abbey Road, the studio. So it's not just The Beatles.
- 1:39:29It's like a lot of different things, but The Beatles is a
- 1:39:31focus on it. Really enjoyed it thoroughly.
- 1:39:35Just cool if you like music and you're into that kind of stuff.
- 1:39:39It's just really well done. I think someone, it's one of
- 1:39:47the, I can't remember, there's a lady that works there now that
- 1:39:51kind of is seems to be she's Linda McCartney's daughter.
- 1:39:55So with Paul and Linda McCartney's daughter, she kind
- 1:39:57of runs it these days. And there was one thing I wanted
- 1:40:00to shout out. So Paul was out on the, you
- 1:40:02know, the famous Paul McCartney was there, and he must be 18 or
- 1:40:05whatever because it's pretty recently done, still in great
- 1:40:09shape. And he was out on the, you know,
- 1:40:11the zebra crossing where the famous picture is from.
- 1:40:14And he was kind of, you know, just talking about it and the ID
- 1:40:17he had with the photo. And, you know, that kind of it
- 1:40:19was just something they came up with off the cuff and they
- 1:40:21decided to do. And you know, it's still going
- 1:40:23now. And as he was kind of kind of he
- 1:40:25was halfway out in the road can talk, but this guy in a Prius
- 1:40:28just kind of zips around him and nearly runs him over.
- 1:40:31That's bloody Paul McCartney there.
- 1:40:33And you're there with your Prius and you're like running them off
- 1:40:36the road. Now, I know like, you know, you
- 1:40:38probably had somewhere to go, but come on, dude.
- 1:40:42So that that kind of jolted me out of my seat.
- 1:40:45It's like, yeah, I'm sure they wouldn't have shown it, you
- 1:40:47know, if it did happen. So you know who maybe died
- 1:40:51today? Jesus.
- 1:40:55I really, I really don't like The Beatles.
- 1:40:56If I'd realize it's probably would hit him bridge.
- 1:41:00Blasphemy, blasphemy. We'll have to move past that.
- 1:41:03And I'm watching Bad Sisters on Apple as well.
- 1:41:06It's not quite as good as the first series, but it's getting
- 1:41:10getting better. The first episode of Two was a
- 1:41:11struggle that was good still, but it wasn't as good.
- 1:41:15But it's it's starting to the madness is starting to return
- 1:41:19it. So that's on Apple TV and the
- 1:41:23last series of Outlanders on as well.
- 1:41:25Watching that with my wife. We've watched a whole lot of
- 1:41:27that. It's getting a bit.
- 1:41:28It needs to be over now. I think under it.
- 1:41:31I still like it, but you know they they separated again and
- 1:41:35everything always goes wrong when the two of them are not in
- 1:41:37the same place. Together, it's another one, it's
- 1:41:41another one. I couldn't get past the first
- 1:41:42few episodes. I just found it real hard work
- 1:41:45so. It's good, but I think it's
- 1:41:49more, I mean, it is quite a like, it's quite, it's popular
- 1:41:53with women really because it is a little bit of a romance story
- 1:41:57mostly, although there is a lot of, you know, fighting and
- 1:42:01battling and action as well. But I think the main thread of
- 1:42:04it is the love story between the two characters.
- 1:42:07So you have to be invested in that.
- 1:42:10And once you are, then that'll pull the rest of it long.
- 1:42:14But I do think they're probably getting out at the right time
- 1:42:16now, you know? But I'm interested to see how
- 1:42:18the ending is, you know, that'll be.
- 1:42:20How many series of that they done John I?
- 1:42:21Think this is 8. Eight, OK.
- 1:42:26About 14-13. Fourteen episodes.
- 1:42:29It's not the 20 odd episodes series.
- 1:42:30It's like usually. And some of that, like the
- 1:42:33second season in Paris is really, really good.
- 1:42:36Really enjoyed that. And the first one in America was
- 1:42:42very good as well. But yeah, I think they'd peaked
- 1:42:46kind of in the middle and starting to, but really, you
- 1:42:51know, really invested in the characters now.
- 1:42:52So just want to know what happens and, you know, and a
- 1:42:56beautiful Irish lady playing an English, posh English woman.
- 1:42:59So you know. There you go.
- 1:43:03They couldn't find an English actress.
- 1:43:05But she's great though. I mean, I understand why they
- 1:43:07they obviously they cast them based on the chemistry between
- 1:43:10the two main actors. Although I don't see how he
- 1:43:13could he, he had to be Scott, you know, that was for sure.
- 1:43:18I don't think they could have got a non Scottish person to
- 1:43:20play his role. But I think it's pretty easy to
- 1:43:23put on a generic English accent if you're from Ireland, you
- 1:43:26know, I think that's not too hard.
- 1:43:28She does very well. Yeah, right.
- 1:43:32I think that's all I have. So what do you you guys need to?
- 1:43:35Another series that Kerry and I watched recently is on Netflix
- 1:43:39called A Man on the Inside. Oh, that's so it's the pop out
- 1:43:42of my recommendations. Yeah, it's, it's a, it's a we
- 1:43:45should watch. It's just a really nice comedy.
- 1:43:48It starts to it's by the people that did and was it a nice place
- 1:43:53or something like that. The Good Place.
- 1:43:55Good place. Thank you.
- 1:43:56So same people. Yeah.
- 1:43:58So same people that did that. And it starts Ted Danson as a
- 1:44:00retired college professor whose wife passed away.
- 1:44:03It's just. The same role again for him
- 1:44:04isn't. It.
- 1:44:05Yeah, basically his wife passed away and he's just at a loss of
- 1:44:08stuff to do. And then he sees an advert for
- 1:44:10somebody to go undercover in an old people's home because some
- 1:44:14jewellery's been stolen. So he goes along to that and
- 1:44:16it's it's funny, it's heartwarming.
- 1:44:19It's just a really nice series. There's about, I don't know, 810
- 1:44:23episodes, like shortish. Yeah.
- 1:44:24It's just, it's just really nice.
- 1:44:26Yeah. And then Holly and I on Netflix
- 1:44:29watching and it's an older series and I don't normally
- 1:44:32watch anime stuff, but it's a One Punch Man.
- 1:44:35Oh that's a pretty fan. Which one hasn't watched?
- 1:44:37It. Yeah, Which is wrong because
- 1:44:38it's just. Yeah, it's a superhero that just
- 1:44:41with one punch just destroys any bad guys.
- 1:44:45Sure, Yeah. Which in itself is good.
- 1:44:46For the animators, you know. Yeah, but it's it's balanced out
- 1:44:50by the fact that he's he just doesn't care.
- 1:44:52He's just like me. Tell if he's just me.
- 1:44:54So if he was, if he was Manny and maniacal about after power,
- 1:44:58you'd easily get there. But he doesn't care so.
- 1:45:01Yeah, like these villains are threatening him and he's like
- 1:45:03Bam and like that's, you know, that's the end of it sort of
- 1:45:06thing. But he he's like got a couple of
- 1:45:09sidekicks and he just, they just got wound up because they're
- 1:45:11like, well, what did you do to get these?
- 1:45:12Because he's more powerful than anybody.
- 1:45:14What did you do to get all these amazing powers?
- 1:45:15And he's like, oh, I did like 100 press UPS every day and ran
- 1:45:1810 kilometres a day. And they were like, is that all?
- 1:45:21But it's turned him into this like insane superhero that gives
- 1:45:25take on it's it's very good. Rich becomes anime fan your
- 1:45:32legions anime next year art do the anime art.
- 1:45:38That's it. We'll start to see a change in
- 1:45:40his art style and it'll start to look more anime.
- 1:45:45Yes, I'm think I'm good then if I can swap swap some.
- 1:45:48People, you'll be getting copyright strikes in your art
- 1:45:52because it's too similar to anime that you've.
- 1:45:54Never seen I'll be getting a little a little stylus for the
- 1:45:59the the mouse pad and, you know, really going for it.
- 1:46:02No, that's when you're getting too.
- 1:46:03Good, because you're crazy. Are you going to graduate?
- 1:46:07To Microsoft Paint. Oh my God, when Microsoft Paint
- 1:46:12is an upgrade, that's that's when you know you're working.
- 1:46:18Cool. Any more recommendations?
- 1:46:20Mile to shout out no? That's my list, Yeah, I'm sure.
- 1:46:25There's a lot of I've got good stuff, but one more than it's on
- 1:46:27Paramount Plus, it's Tulsa King, OK, Sylvester Stallone, who's a
- 1:46:32Mafia captain. It's like proper high up mafia
- 1:46:35guy who gets out of jail after 2025 years in jail.
- 1:46:39And the Mafia family don't want anything to do with him.
- 1:46:42So they just send him off from New York to Tulsa.
- 1:46:47You know, there's middle of nowhere small city, Midwest
- 1:46:49City, you know, nothing going on there and he has to make do for
- 1:46:52him. So it's like a fish out of water
- 1:46:54sort of thing. But, you know, he's just
- 1:46:56scheming. You know, he gets involved in a
- 1:46:57cannabis shop, you know, because it's legal there sort of thing.
- 1:47:04And it's just really well done. Sylvester Sloan's very good in
- 1:47:06it. There's two series out at the
- 1:47:09moment. Yeah, I highly recommend that.
- 1:47:12Oh, I got one more actually, because we're watching it now,
- 1:47:14but I've I've only three episodes in.
- 1:47:15It's really good so far. So you know, if it if it goes
- 1:47:18down there after that, don't kill me.
- 1:47:20Black. Black doves on Netflix.
- 1:47:23Yeah, with Keira Knightley, who's beautiful lady and good
- 1:47:29actress and is that? Her Is it Sarah Lancashire?
- 1:47:32Yes, Sarah Lancashire. Yeah, and Ben, I've seen Wishaw,
- 1:47:36the guy who plays Q in the modern James Bond.
- 1:47:39Brilliant in this so far. Fantastic.
- 1:47:41Yeah, yeah. Yeah, so she's married to Keira
- 1:47:45Knightley, is married to the minister or the defence
- 1:47:47secretary in the state in the UK, so minister of Defence.
- 1:47:52And she has a secret double life as a as a kind of an agent, so.
- 1:47:58Yeah, kind. Of private, It's a private
- 1:48:01security firm or something like this.
- 1:48:03Yeah, probably sell the services to the highest bidder kind of
- 1:48:06firm. And and we also started to watch
- 1:48:09Slow Horses. I've heard good things about
- 1:48:13that. It's really good.
- 1:48:14It's a different type. It's with the, what's his name
- 1:48:18plays Sirius Black in Harry Potter.
- 1:48:22Oh. OK.
- 1:48:24Is it Gary Oldman? Gary.
- 1:48:25Oldman yeah, yeah, yeah, he's fantastic in it and yeah, he's
- 1:48:30kind of he runs the part of MI Five that they send everybody
- 1:48:35that's met a huge screw up. So the kind of bin and basically
- 1:48:42they get all the crap jobs to to kind of do and you know, it's
- 1:48:49basically he's basically trying to get them to quit.
- 1:48:52Is is seems to be what the the gig is there, but I'm sure a
- 1:48:56money episodes into that as well.
- 1:48:58That's on prime. Yeah, that's where I got it and
- 1:49:03it yes, it's really good. So for the 1st 10 minutes of it
- 1:49:07are amazing. Now it slows down a bit after
- 1:49:09that, but the first 10 minutes is really the intro to the show
- 1:49:13kind of they're kind of really, really high paced and really
- 1:49:16good. So definitely worth the watch, I
- 1:49:18think. Yeah.
- 1:49:20But what happened was we had a problem with the with with the
- 1:49:27streaming service that that was on.
- 1:49:28And then we ended up finding something else on Netflix, which
- 1:49:31was the Black Doves. That's why we're watching two
- 1:49:33things kind of simultaneously. But I think Black Doves only has
- 1:49:36a couple like six or seven episodes.
- 1:49:38So we watch that to the end and then we go back to Slow Horses
- 1:49:40because that has plenty of episodes, a couple of seasons.
- 1:49:43So yeah, anyway, all fun and games.
- 1:49:46So there's plenty of stuff for you to to get stuck into over
- 1:49:49the holidays if you've got some time off.
- 1:49:51So I think we leave it there, will we?
- 1:49:56Sounds good to. Me Next week we have the awards,
- 1:49:59your Allegiance awards. So top fives, 10s, yeah,
- 1:50:03fifteens, 20 fives from now. Prizes to give out, but can.
- 1:50:08I check are we doing, are we doing a black tie event this
- 1:50:10year as well just so I can dress appropriately.
- 1:50:13Do you have a black tie? But you know, I could find one.
- 1:50:20We we could eat and drink whilst we do the podcast.
- 1:50:23That'd be a new experience for this.
- 1:50:26Yeah, say quaff in Prosecco while we do it.
- 1:50:30I have, I have my kids, both my kids parent teacher meetings
- 1:50:34tomorrow which they insist on bringing the kids.
- 1:50:36We have to bring the kids to the parent teacher meeting.
- 1:50:38Never heard of such rubbish. The school is hopeless.
- 1:50:41So I was thinking of dressing up in a kind of full suit just for
- 1:50:45that, for the crack to make make them think I'm more important
- 1:50:49than I am. But yeah, my daughter is making
- 1:50:52them do it in English. I can, I can do it in
- 1:50:57Luxembourgish. But she's like, no, I want them
- 1:50:59to do. I want to do it in English
- 1:51:00because I prefer to do it in English.
- 1:51:02And I'm using you as an excuse. And I'm like, OK.
- 1:51:07And I want to make my teacher speak English.
- 1:51:13Gotta love her anyway. Better press the outro,
- 1:51:18otherwise there never get done. Stay safe out there everybody,
- 1:51:24don't dig up any demonic Santas. Good demon legs.
