Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: If we put this on TikTok, would it be a
- 0:08Speaker 1: TikTok hack or a TikTok whack. I was watching my
- 0:13Speaker 1: brother's Instagram stories yesterday and he posted that he won
- 0:17Speaker 1: a prize at work for winning some contest and the
- 0:22Speaker 1: prize was a ten dollars voucher to the cafeteria.
- 0:25Speaker 2: And so I responded.
- 0:27Speaker 1: To him and I said, oh, this is such a
- 0:30Speaker 1: you prize because my brother loves to eat. He loves food,
- 0:36Speaker 1: and the only thing he likes more than food is
- 0:38Speaker 1: not paying for the food that he's eating, like free food.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Yes, he loves free food.
- 0:44Speaker 1: So when I sent him the message, this is so
- 0:47Speaker 1: your kind of prize, he responded, of course, don't you
- 0:52Speaker 1: know that my life hack is to take a later
- 0:55Speaker 1: lunch and walk around to find the leftover food from
- 1:00Speaker 1: catered events. I said, you're so resourceful, and he said
- 1:04Speaker 1: that's a kind way of putting it. So we got
- 1:07Speaker 1: into more discussion about it. But is this a life
- 1:10Speaker 1: hack because it's not to be clear, because I asked
- 1:14Speaker 1: if I could talk about this on air and he said, yeah,
- 1:16Speaker 1: but a don't say like the company that it is.
- 1:19Speaker 2: But to be clear that it's not that.
- 1:21Speaker 1: He goes into like conference rooms and sees a plate
- 1:24Speaker 1: on the table, and if there's leftover scraps, he eats that. No,
- 1:28Speaker 1: it's that where he works, they happen to have a
- 1:30Speaker 1: lot of catered meetings, and so wherever they, you know,
- 1:33Speaker 1: put the spread on the table. If there's leftover food there,
- 1:37Speaker 1: that's what he takes, and he eats that because it's free.
- 1:43Speaker 1: And so is that like a good hack or is
- 1:47Speaker 1: it just really cheap? What do you think?
- 1:50Speaker 3: I think it's a little bit of both.
- 1:51Speaker 4: I would call this, sadly though, a TikTok whack, because
- 1:55Speaker 4: not everybody can really participate. Oh okay, only a handful
- 1:59Speaker 4: of people get to work in a place where they
- 2:02Speaker 4: have a lot of catered lunches or meetings or what
- 2:04Speaker 4: have you. You know, there's not a ton of places
- 2:06Speaker 4: where you can just roam around to look at for
- 2:09Speaker 4: some free leftover ham sandwich.
- 2:11Speaker 2: He worked hard to get there. He was valedictorian in
- 2:15Speaker 2: high school.
- 2:16Speaker 1: He did four years in college just so that he
- 2:19Speaker 1: could get into this company for some.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Free food after catered events.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Would you do this if you could, though, because I
- 2:27Speaker 4: would one thousand percent do this.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I would not. I think I would feel weirdly embarrassed,
- 2:33Speaker 1: and I don't know why I wouldn't.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Of course, he.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Would load up that plate with ham sandwiches and cheese
- 2:38Speaker 4: and turkey. Seven oh one two eight zero one nine
- 2:41Speaker 4: eight seven. Would you do this or would you not?
- 2:43Speaker 4: If you could, maybe you can at your workplace, but
- 2:46Speaker 4: if you had a workplace that did, I'm snagging me
- 2:49Speaker 4: some freezies, autumn.
- 2:52Speaker 3: What's up?
- 2:53Speaker 5: We're just going in for the uh, the ham fandwhich
- 2:57Speaker 5: debacle that we've got going on this morning?
- 3:00Speaker 3: Okay, what are your thoughts?
- 3:02Speaker 5: My mother? Absolutely, you take that hand sandwich. In this economy,
- 3:05Speaker 5: you need to get everything you can is already paid for.
- 3:09Speaker 5: It's a corporation. You just go for it. Go for it.
- 3:12Speaker 5: Nobody else is going to be giving you hand sandwiches
- 3:14Speaker 5: for free.
- 3:15Speaker 4: So your vote is this is a TikTok hack and
- 3:18Speaker 4: not a TikTok whack.
- 3:20Speaker 5: Absolutely, you take those sandwiches. Drop drop it. Big ninety
- 3:23Speaker 5: eight point.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Celebrating life's little victories.
- 3:28Speaker 6: Every morning we practice gratitude on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 3:32Speaker 5: If I could, I would keep this feeling in a
- 3:34Speaker 5: plastic job busted out when it was someone's acting hard.
- 3:37Speaker 6: Sure your little victories with us at seven oh one
- 3:40Speaker 6: two and Oho one ninety eight seven kids.
- 3:43Speaker 3: I also needed to win that day, Angie. Do you
- 3:46Speaker 3: have a little victory for us here today?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Yes, I played a board game with the family for
- 3:52Speaker 1: the first time in months.
- 3:54Speaker 2: I didn't win. However, Aiden one, my fifteen year old,
- 3:59Speaker 2: and he win.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I mean never wins anytime we play a board game,
- 4:04Speaker 1: this kid loses. We played Sorry, and we actually played
- 4:08Speaker 1: with the fully correct rules for the first time because
- 4:12Speaker 1: he went he sat.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yes, they did for yesterday.
- 4:15Speaker 1: He sat down, he read all of the rules and
- 4:18Speaker 1: he was like, okay, I'm ready.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I know exactly all of the rules to this game. Now.
- 4:22Speaker 1: We can't just be making up anything like how we
- 4:24Speaker 1: do an Uno. So we're gonna play Sorry, and we're
- 4:27Speaker 1: gonna do it correctly. And when all is said and done,
- 4:30Speaker 1: he won. So I was very happy for him. This
- 4:33Speaker 1: will probably be the only win for the foreseeable future.
- 4:36Speaker 2: So congratulations to Aiden.
- 4:38Speaker 1: He beat us at Sorry, and it was just nice
- 4:41Speaker 1: to play a get board game together as a family.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Yeah, good for him.
- 4:44Speaker 4: It's you know, it's nice when someone gets one that
- 4:46Speaker 4: maybe hasn't got one in a while.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Ever.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Yeah, well, yeah, you go, my little victory. I think
- 4:51Speaker 4: it's just from all of us here Big ninety eight
- 4:53Speaker 4: point seven. But a pretty cool surprise yesterday, Locals Love
- 4:56Speaker 4: Us stopped into the studio to hand out just some
- 4:58Speaker 4: plaques and Big ninety eight point seven was voted as
- 5:01Speaker 4: one of the FM area's favorite radio stations. And it
- 5:06Speaker 4: was just really cool. It was an awesome surprise. It
- 5:08Speaker 4: was fun to really be a part of that I
- 5:10Speaker 4: have and to be a part of that in Megan,
- 5:12Speaker 4: and it was a lot of fun.
- 5:13Speaker 3: And we just I'm very thankful. I think that's pretty sweet.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Can I hop onto.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Your little victory with that one too, because yes, we're
- 5:21Speaker 1: very grateful. It's such a great opportunity to join Big
- 5:24Speaker 1: ninety eight point seven and now I've been here for
- 5:27Speaker 1: over a year and it feels really like welcoming and
- 5:31Speaker 1: heartening to have whoever voted like the station, and you.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Know we contribute to that. So thank you so much.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Yeah, very grateful. We do have a little victory. And
- 5:43Speaker 4: this looks like it's from Renee. Renee said, hey, guys,
- 5:46Speaker 4: so I finally tackled that mountain of textile scraps sitting
- 5:51Speaker 4: in the corner of my office, and honestly, I think
- 5:53Speaker 4: my sewing machine is probably exhausted already. I've been trying
- 5:57Speaker 4: to be more intentional, intentional about not throwing things away,
- 6:01Speaker 4: but sometimes the pile of stuff you want to upcycle
- 6:04Speaker 4: just starts looking like a total mess, and then there's
- 6:06Speaker 4: this urge to just throw them away. I spent most
- 6:09Speaker 4: of yesterday turning some old damaged scarves and shawls. I
- 6:13Speaker 4: founded a flea market into some pillow covers.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Oh wow, awesome is that? That sounds like a lot
- 6:18Speaker 3: of work.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I'm really impressed by that. I've never been someone who
- 6:22Speaker 1: can sew. I'm not a real person, so I'm always
- 6:25Speaker 1: really impressed with that.
- 6:26Speaker 2: So good for you, Renee.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Congratulations. That's an awesome little victory.
- 6:30Speaker 4: And don't forget we will take little victories at any
- 6:32Speaker 4: point throughout the day.
- 6:33Speaker 3: If something happens to you this afternoon.
- 6:35Speaker 4: And you're like, oh my god, I gotta share this
- 6:36Speaker 4: with somebody, maybe no one cares.
- 6:38Speaker 3: We care.
- 6:39Speaker 4: We care here at big ninety eight point seven, So
- 6:41Speaker 4: text us those whenever you have them. At seven oh
- 6:44Speaker 4: one two eight zero one nine eight seven.
- 6:49Speaker 5: I'm a joker. I'm a smoker.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Yesterday was April Fools Day.
- 6:54Speaker 2: I'm so glad it's over.
- 6:56Speaker 4: And if you had a fun April Fool's joe okay
- 7:00Speaker 4: your workplace, or you did something fun, tell us about
- 7:02Speaker 4: it at seven oh one two eight zero one to
- 7:05Speaker 4: nine eight seven. I always enjoy especially when they go well,
- 7:09Speaker 4: when a big company does a quick little April Fool's
- 7:12Speaker 4: joke on the internet, because with the Internet, it's so easy.
- 7:14Speaker 3: To fall for them.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Oh yeah, these days, but chicken sauce flavored cola?
- 7:21Speaker 3: Did you see this?
- 7:22Speaker 4: Raisin Canes had McKenna Grace help them unveil Cain's Sauce
- 7:27Speaker 4: Coca Cola, a fake variety of Coca Cola inspired by
- 7:32Speaker 4: their signature sauce and raisin cane sauce is good, but
- 7:36Speaker 4: I don't want to drink it.
- 7:37Speaker 6: No.
- 7:37Speaker 1: You know what is brilliant though about that is that
- 7:41Speaker 1: it is kind of like a thing where companies for
- 7:45Speaker 1: a limited time release a disgusting flavor of something like
- 7:49Speaker 1: there's always pumpkin spice macaroni and cheese, and that's and
- 7:54Speaker 1: that's very real.
- 7:55Speaker 2: And so this is not a bad prank.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Yeah, And you know, in a way, it's people talking
- 8:00Speaker 4: about you on the Internet, on the radio, whatever the case.
- 8:03Speaker 4: I had just a tiny, baby, little prank on our
- 8:06Speaker 4: Angie yesterday if.
- 8:08Speaker 3: You have not seen it. Yeah, I have a lot.
- 8:10Speaker 4: Of fun, just kind of messing with Angie. And it's
- 8:13Speaker 4: like I always post like a minute or shorter video
- 8:17Speaker 4: on the Big ninety eight point seven facebook page on
- 8:19Speaker 4: my Instagram, And yesterday's April Fools joke to Angie as
- 8:24Speaker 4: she was gearing up for the line, the rude line,
- 8:27Speaker 4: the trolley line, I didn't have one for her, and
- 8:30Speaker 4: that actually almost made her more up.
- 8:32Speaker 2: That made me more mad.
- 8:33Speaker 1: That made me more mad because I'm now like getting
- 8:36Speaker 1: used to it, like it's gonna come in here, he's
- 8:39Speaker 1: gonna say something on camera that's gonna be kind of
- 8:42Speaker 1: rude to me, and I'm just gonna, you know, feel
- 8:45Speaker 1: away and roll my eyes like that's now the norm,
- 8:49Speaker 1: that's the bit. And so for you to not do
- 8:51Speaker 1: it excellent Aprilfool.
- 8:53Speaker 2: So by the way, but boy, did that make me mad?
- 8:55Speaker 3: After you've been training and propping for weeks here.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Like ringing the bell for a dog and then you
- 9:01Speaker 1: don't give them the treat.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Angie, did you have any kind of fun April
- 9:06Speaker 4: Fools pranks at the house.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Did the kids do anything? You know what?
- 9:09Speaker 1: The the kids are not into April Fools pranks. However,
- 9:14Speaker 1: Liam came home from school and he learned a new prank,
- 9:17Speaker 1: and so he was excited.
- 9:18Speaker 3: To do this.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So he asked me, Hey, Mom, can you write the
- 9:23Speaker 1: letter E a bunch of times on a piece of
- 9:25Speaker 1: paper in brown crayon?
- 9:29Speaker 2: And so I did.
- 9:31Speaker 1: And then when his older brother got home, he said, Aden,
- 9:35Speaker 1: there's brownies on the table.
- 9:37Speaker 3: That's a brownie. That is excellent.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I thought that was really good.
- 9:42Speaker 4: That is very good. You know, sometimes kids come up
- 9:45Speaker 4: with the best stuff. Maybe your kid got you yesterday
- 9:48Speaker 4: with an April Fool's joke. Let us know about it.
- 9:50Speaker 4: At seven oh one two, eight zero one, nine eight seven.
- 9:54Speaker 4: I might have to borrow that one from Liam. That's
- 9:56Speaker 4: pretty good.
- 9:56Speaker 3: It was cute.
- 10:00Speaker 6: The world of Rules in Gray Areas, one morning show
- 10:02Speaker 6: dares to ask the hard questions.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Is it illegal for a child to wear that much makeup?
- 10:07Speaker 5: Is it legal?
- 10:08Speaker 1: I understand, I understand it's funny as all get out,
- 10:11Speaker 1: but is it even legal?
- 10:12Speaker 3: On Big ninety eight point seven?
- 10:16Speaker 4: So apparently so apparently in North Dakota, You can't just
- 10:22Speaker 4: start pumping gas and walk away like you're setting a
- 10:25Speaker 4: slow cooker.
- 10:26Speaker 3: It turns out it's.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Actually illegal to leave your car running in unattended while fueling.
- 10:33Speaker 3: All right.
- 10:33Speaker 4: The state looked at that move and said, absolutely not.
- 10:36Speaker 4: We've seen how this movie ends. It's in the law.
- 10:39Speaker 4: You've got to stay there the whole time as a
- 10:42Speaker 4: qualified operator. A qualified operator has to be present, which
- 10:47Speaker 4: I'm gonna assume just means you standing there pretending not
- 10:50Speaker 4: to make eye contact with the person next to you
- 10:52Speaker 4: while they fill up one. There's no running inside to
- 10:56Speaker 4: grab your skittles or your beef jerky, no snacks, No,
- 10:58Speaker 4: I'll be in there in two seconds. You can't trust
- 11:01Speaker 4: your car like it's a responsible adult, all right.
- 11:04Speaker 3: It's it's gas.
- 11:05Speaker 4: It's not a crock pot caso dip, And honestly, it
- 11:08Speaker 4: makes sense. You've got flammable liquid, a running engine, and
- 11:12Speaker 4: the same people who forget their coffee on the roof
- 11:14Speaker 4: of their car or their kiddos the next time, the
- 11:18Speaker 4: next time you're pumping gas, stay put.
- 11:21Speaker 3: It's the only time in life.
- 11:24Speaker 4: North Dakota requires you to stand still and do nothing,
- 11:28Speaker 4: And somehow, for a lot of people that's the hardest
- 11:29Speaker 4: rule to follow.
- 11:31Speaker 2: I'm surprised that you follow this rule.
- 11:33Speaker 3: I am.
- 11:34Speaker 4: I've always been terrified of pumping gas and running into
- 11:37Speaker 4: the gas station if I have any errand I literally
- 11:41Speaker 4: do it first and then fill up the car.
- 11:43Speaker 1: You know, what I always picture is that if I
- 11:45Speaker 1: went to run in real fast, it would be that
- 11:47Speaker 1: scene from Zoolander where someone grabs the pump out of
- 11:51Speaker 1: the car and then starts having a gasoline.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Fight, right, and it's gonna end up missing a bunch
- 11:55Speaker 3: of money.
- 11:55Speaker 2: It'll be my phone.
- 12:05Speaker 3: That's right.
- 12:05Speaker 4: You do work hard for the money and then you
- 12:07Speaker 4: find something, maybe slightly ridiculous, and you're like, you know what,
- 12:10Speaker 4: I don't care. I take my money, take the card,
- 12:12Speaker 4: swipe it. I don't care if it's a credit card,
- 12:14Speaker 4: debit card. I'll pay for it some way. Somehow. I
- 12:18Speaker 4: saw this story that I had to share with you
- 12:19Speaker 4: because I don't know anything about wine, but I guess
- 12:22Speaker 4: wine is kind of like art. There's some random wines
- 12:26Speaker 4: that are worth just a gajillion dollars. There was this
- 12:29Speaker 4: rare nineteen forty five bottle of I'll give this my
- 12:33Speaker 4: best shot. Okay, okay, domain de la romane kanti Okay,
- 12:40Speaker 4: that sound all right?
- 12:41Speaker 2: Sure?
- 12:42Speaker 3: Whatever? That one is sold?
- 12:44Speaker 2: Oh like a kianti?
- 12:45Speaker 3: Is that the CONTI?
- 12:48Speaker 2: Oh no, then I don't know. I was thinking Silence
- 12:50Speaker 2: of the Lambs.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Anyway, continue anyway.
- 12:52Speaker 4: It's sold for over eight hundred and ten thousand dollars,
- 12:55Speaker 4: which is why a new record. This is the most
- 12:59Speaker 4: expensive wine ever sold, and the bottles value it just
- 13:03Speaker 4: comes from its history. It was the final vintage before
- 13:07Speaker 4: the vineyard replaced its vines with extremely limited production.
- 13:11Speaker 3: YadA, YadA, YadA.
- 13:12Speaker 4: I don't know anything about that, but it got me thinking, man,
- 13:17Speaker 4: there are some things I have bought that are so
- 13:19Speaker 4: stupid that we're so much money, Because you know, what
- 13:22Speaker 4: do you do with this bottle of wine? You just
- 13:23Speaker 4: share it, you hang on to it, you put it
- 13:25Speaker 4: in whatever seller you're cooler, and you know, right, you
- 13:27Speaker 4: don't dream that, right exactly. That would feel like a crime. Right,
- 13:33Speaker 4: So what's the most ridiculous thing you have bought? That
- 13:36Speaker 4: costume more than it probably should have seven oh one
- 13:39Speaker 4: two eight zero one nine eight seven. Angie, do you
- 13:42Speaker 4: have any.
- 13:43Speaker 2: I'm over here being judgy. Wudgie was an Angie, but
- 13:47Speaker 2: I really I'm the kind.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Of person where if I see something I really want
- 13:51Speaker 1: and then the price tag is really hefty, in my head,
- 13:55Speaker 1: I always say, well, I've spent more on stupider things,
- 13:59Speaker 1: so then I buy the thing, and this is not
- 14:01Speaker 1: a good mentality to have.
- 14:02Speaker 2: But here we are, and I did spend.
- 14:06Speaker 3: This is embarrassing.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I had a dress that I wanted to wear for
- 14:10Speaker 1: an occasion, but I needed a coat to wear over it,
- 14:14Speaker 1: and I it.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Was on sale.
- 14:16Speaker 1: In my defense, but I spent three hundred dollars on
- 14:20Speaker 1: a faux fur coat.
- 14:23Speaker 3: And fos in fake.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Yeah, faux for I would never wear real fur, and
- 14:28Speaker 1: that why why would I do that? There were several
- 14:32Speaker 1: other coats I could have had it bought at a
- 14:36Speaker 1: way smaller price tag, but I just thought it was
- 14:38Speaker 1: so cute and like I looked good in it. It
- 14:41Speaker 1: went with my outfit. But it's one that was maybe
- 14:45Speaker 1: that way to justify that that was three or four
- 14:48Speaker 1: years It was four years ago. So I make sure
- 14:50Speaker 1: to wear that coat as often as makes sense to
- 14:54Speaker 1: try and justify because I that's probably the most I've
- 14:57Speaker 1: spent on one article of clothing ever in life.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Wow, you know what's funny out here? I'm making fun
- 15:03Speaker 3: of you.
- 15:03Speaker 4: The one I bought was more expensive than three hundred
- 15:06Speaker 4: dollars and just as ridiculous.
- 15:08Speaker 3: But Ali said, a PS five pro.
- 15:11Speaker 4: I bet there's a ton of gamer things that people
- 15:13Speaker 4: have bought, and sadly, I'm going to be one.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Of those that were a bit ridiculous.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Donna concert tickets to Pink Eliza said, hair extensions.
- 15:22Speaker 2: My new little hair extensions is a good one.
- 15:24Speaker 4: Now, I do love this from Brian, who's actually giving
- 15:27Speaker 4: us the price too. So Brian beats us by a
- 15:29Speaker 4: couple gajillion dollars. Brian seventy k for a jeep gladiator
- 15:35Speaker 4: Nikes that is steep. And we do have Julia on
- 15:39Speaker 4: the phone. Julia, what was yours?
- 15:41Speaker 6: Okay?
- 15:42Speaker 1: So I spent two hundred and eighty dollars on a
- 15:44Speaker 1: candle that's right, A candle wow, from some boutique where
- 15:48Speaker 1: they like hands pour it under the full moon.
- 15:51Speaker 5: I convince myself it would change my energy.
- 15:53Speaker 3: It smells like woods.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Just would I light it when I'm stressed out about
- 15:58Speaker 1: the fact that I spent two hundred and eighty dollars?
- 16:00Speaker 3: A yeah, I would too. I'd find out any excuse
- 16:03Speaker 3: to burn it. I would never burn it.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I'd be like this, if this wax runs out, it's
- 16:07Speaker 1: like I set the literal dollars on fire.
- 16:10Speaker 3: That's right, Angie, do you want to know mine?
- 16:13Speaker 4: This one is so stupid and it was double the
- 16:16Speaker 4: price of what you paid.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Well, it'll make me feel better.
- 16:19Speaker 1: So all right.
