Nonlinear Control Theory: Phase Portraits, Lyapunov Stability, Feedback Linearization, Sliding Mode Control (Chattering), and Backstepping
A linear controller assumes twice the cause produces twice the effect. In the real ocean, air, and factory floor, drag grows with the square of velocity, pendulums flip sign upside down, valves stick with static friction, and payloads change mass mid-mission. We build Nonlinear Control Theory from first principles: phase-plane geometry and limit cycles, Lyapunov functions and LaSalle invariance, exact feedback linearization and zero dynamics, sliding-mode control and chattering suppression, and integrator backstepping.
