- 0:00Speaker 1: But I'm joining the studio today by Chantel and Phil Rashbrook,
- 0:08Speaker 1: and they are the brains behind the cliff top challenge.
- 0:15Speaker 1: What's the clifftop Challenge? I hear you ask, Well, stay
- 0:18Speaker 1: tuned and I'll let Chantelle and Phil tell you all
- 0:21Speaker 1: about it now. Last night I was on the mic
- 0:28Speaker 1: at the charing ten K organized by Ashford Striders, and
- 0:32Speaker 1: in the final few moments of the race, as the
- 0:34Speaker 1: last couple of runners came home, they were joined by
- 0:37Speaker 1: loads of volunteer marshals who've been out on the course
- 0:41Speaker 1: and this particular track was playing and in the distance
- 0:45Speaker 1: I could see them pumping and jumping and dancing. So
- 0:48Speaker 1: this track is for the all the Ashford Striders who
- 0:50Speaker 1: put on such a good race last night. This is
- 0:57Speaker 1: bon Jovine living on a prayer.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I turn it up loud.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Oh what's about so long?
- 1:36Speaker 2: Tell me to took on the bus.
- 1:39Speaker 3: You'll your mettle sack.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Us.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Well, there we go. That's bon Jovie living on a
- 2:02Speaker 1: prayer and that's for all the organizers of the charing
- 2:05Speaker 1: ten K last night. It was quite funny. Actually halfway
- 2:08Speaker 1: there they were singing, but they had actually finished. There
- 2:11Speaker 1: you go, little play on words. Okay, Now today we
- 2:14Speaker 1: have got two lovely guests on the show, and I
- 2:17Speaker 1: want to say good morning to Chantelle Rashburog. Good morning, Chantelle,
- 2:21Speaker 1: and morning to Phil Rashbrook as well. Morning care, morning great.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I mean, it's been a while actually since you've been
- 2:26Speaker 1: in In fact, it's ten years almost to the day.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It was amazing. I was going through I was just
- 2:33Speaker 1: trying to find some old pictures of Cliff Top Challenge
- 2:36Speaker 1: and put search in and this picture came up and
- 2:39Speaker 1: I could not believe the date. Today's the thirteenth of June,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and it was eleventh of June twenty sixteen. And looking back,
- 2:47Speaker 1: also on that day we had quite quite a studio
- 2:49Speaker 1: for We had Dan in who'd done a cycling challenge.
- 2:52Speaker 1: We had Clive, my friend Clive or I think the
- 2:54Speaker 1: year before he'd done the fifty five miler. But this
- 2:58Speaker 1: event has come on so much, so what I want
- 3:02Speaker 1: to do really is go back right to the start.
- 3:05Speaker 1: So we want to think that there's people out there
- 3:09Speaker 1: that do not know anything about the Cliff Top Challenge
- 3:12Speaker 1: and where have you been for the last ten years?
- 3:15Speaker 1: So Chantelle, now you started running race for life many
- 3:19Speaker 1: many years ago, and basically you've got a little story
- 3:22Speaker 1: to tell about that and how it progressed, is that right?
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 4: A friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer. Oh
- 3:30Speaker 4: I think in the early thirties. She was we're now
- 3:33Speaker 4: fifty plus. But I decided to do the Race for
- 3:37Speaker 4: Life for her and I hadn't really ran for a
- 3:39Speaker 4: very very long time, so I did that and then
- 3:43Speaker 4: it went on from there where I started up a
- 3:45Speaker 4: running group for women wanting to learn to run, and
- 3:49Speaker 4: that's how my start to run in right.
- 3:53Speaker 1: But the sad thing was you was running for somebody else,
- 3:56Speaker 1: weren't you? And what happened next?
- 3:58Speaker 4: Unfortunately she did pass away a few years at very
- 4:01Speaker 4: young age.
- 4:02Speaker 1: And then but then new contact contracted it, didn't you.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, I was diagnosed in twenty twelve and went
- 4:10Speaker 4: through all the treatments right, therapy, chemotherapy, surgery, and unfortunately
- 4:15Speaker 4: came back again in twenty fourteen.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Right, So when was the first Race for Life? Not
- 4:19Speaker 1: Race for Life, the first cliff Top Challenge fourteen?
- 4:24Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, twenty fourteen. So that was the main reason
- 4:28Speaker 4: why we came up with this idea, myself and my
- 4:30Speaker 4: husband being keen runners, we thought was a great way
- 4:33Speaker 4: to raise money for the charity.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Right, so let's bring Phil in now. So Phiel twenty fourteen,
- 4:41Speaker 1: you've got this new idea of a cliff top challenge.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I mean it didn't happen overnight. You love your ultra
- 4:48Speaker 1: running back then? Not sure about now how did that
- 4:53Speaker 1: all come about? I mean tell me, I mean, was
- 4:55Speaker 1: you down the pub one day and before Oh yeah,
- 4:57Speaker 1: let's do an event from Hastings to deal with a
- 4:59Speaker 1: catch No.
- 5:01Speaker 5: We obviously with Chanteur's diagnosis, we thought we want to
- 5:05Speaker 5: do something positive rather than towards a charity and to
- 5:09Speaker 5: try and raise money for the charity. There's many events
- 5:13Speaker 5: around that are single running events and you turn up,
- 5:16Speaker 5: you do the run, you go home at the end
- 5:18Speaker 5: of it, and we thought, how can we make it
- 5:20Speaker 5: more of a more of a something different in terms
- 5:24Speaker 5: of the fact that we've got more than one event
- 5:26Speaker 5: running in this in one day and also something that
- 5:29Speaker 5: is a has a social aspect to it to bring
- 5:31Speaker 5: everybody together at the end of it, not only in
- 5:37Speaker 5: support of the charity, but also from a social point
- 5:41Speaker 5: of view within Deal and the surrounding areas. Is bringing
- 5:43Speaker 5: the community together and that's how that came about a
- 5:47Speaker 5: series of running events within the same day, all finishing
- 5:51Speaker 5: within a certain period. Yeah, we're all finishing hopefully within
- 5:56Speaker 5: a couple of hours of each other, and a big
- 5:58Speaker 5: party afterwards in Deal, And that's that's kind of what
- 6:01Speaker 5: we focused on. And then then it was a case
- 6:04Speaker 5: of finding a suitable route.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Well, we can ask you about the route. I mean
- 6:07Speaker 1: in the early days you thought, oh, you've got this
- 6:08Speaker 1: great idea, but how did you work it? Did you
- 6:11Speaker 1: go from Deal? You think, oh, Deal, Yeah, we can
- 6:13Speaker 1: run to Dover. Yeah, we can run to focus them.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Okay you stop there, you keep going?
- 6:19Speaker 5: Yeah, Yeah, Well it was it was initially looking at
- 6:24Speaker 5: I was looking at long distance footpaths initially, so looking
- 6:28Speaker 5: at routes based around long distance footpaths. We were looking
- 6:32Speaker 5: at direction as well. Generally we we mostly well, historically
- 6:37Speaker 5: we've had southwesterly winds, so it's nice to run from
- 6:41Speaker 5: a distance back towards Deal from the west rather than
- 6:44Speaker 5: the other way into a headwind. Yeah, which which was
- 6:47Speaker 5: which is something there. So it was trying to look
- 6:50Speaker 5: at a combination of of of the the dedicated long
- 6:55Speaker 5: distance paths because generally they're better looked after as we know,
- 6:59Speaker 5: a lot of the tracks these days and general all
- 7:02Speaker 5: overgrown and you just can't get through them. You've got
- 7:04Speaker 5: to got to wel come all up. So the long
- 7:06Speaker 5: distance paths made sense. So we've got the Sacks and
- 7:09Speaker 5: sure Way coming pretty much from Folkston. It starts only
- 7:13Speaker 5: five miles outside of Folkstone and that pretty much comes
- 7:16Speaker 5: all the way back to Deal and that's kind of
- 7:19Speaker 5: what what we base the route on. There's a few
- 7:22Speaker 5: turn offs here and there, but that that's kind of
- 7:24Speaker 5: where it came from.
- 7:25Speaker 1: So let's clarify the route then. So it's we're going
- 7:29Speaker 1: to ask you to explain obviously, sel but I mean
- 7:34Speaker 1: if people are unaware of what the cliff top challenge is,
- 7:37Speaker 1: is a challenge for all different levels of running. So
- 7:41Speaker 1: let's start from the furthest point away, which is how
- 7:45Speaker 1: many miles.
- 7:46Speaker 5: The furthest point is fifty five miles and that starts
- 7:49Speaker 5: just the Deal side of Hastings at fair Light, and
- 7:56Speaker 5: it's pretty much eighty percent is off road and it
- 8:01Speaker 5: follows the Royal Military Canal from fair Light through to
- 8:07Speaker 5: Limb Castle.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Where's the next point the Caldo.
- 8:10Speaker 5: So the next point the call is the thirty six
- 8:12Speaker 5: mile start point, which is at Apple Door, which is
- 8:15Speaker 5: still on the canal, and then we move on to
- 8:18Speaker 5: Limb Castle, which is the marathon start point.
- 8:21Speaker 1: So Limb Castle, so that means the runners that are
- 8:25Speaker 1: doing the fifty five and thirty six got to come
- 8:27Speaker 1: along the canal. But then they've got to get up
- 8:31Speaker 1: to the up the hill.
- 8:32Speaker 5: Through the zoo, which is quite entertaining because there's not
- 8:34Speaker 5: many runs where you get to see a giraffe yeah, yeah,
- 8:37Speaker 5: and gazelle's and all sorts as as you're as you're running,
- 8:40Speaker 5: and also quite interesting at night when we're marking out
- 8:42Speaker 5: the route for the night runners, when you've got these
- 8:45Speaker 5: eyes staring out the bushes and some strange noises coming out.
- 8:48Speaker 5: But yeah, so they've got to come off the canal then,
- 8:51Speaker 5: and then we start heading up towards the North Downs.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So they head up to the Limb Limb Castle. So
- 8:58Speaker 1: what point is that the Limb Castle in marathon start
- 9:01Speaker 1: point twenty six points so by that.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Time they'll have done just under thirty miles themselves.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Right, So after the castle, I've got down here. The
- 9:10Speaker 1: next point a call that you pick up runners is
- 9:12Speaker 1: at fifteen. Yeah, just take us briefly from them Castle too, so.
- 9:16Speaker 5: Yeah, Solim Castle, we can't. We kind of come off
- 9:19Speaker 5: the Saxon Shore away then and we go on to
- 9:21Speaker 5: the North Downs. So again it's it's quite a climb
- 9:25Speaker 5: up up Etching Hill for those that know that area,
- 9:28Speaker 5: you know, that's quite a climb to get up onto
- 9:29Speaker 5: Etching Hill. We drop down from Etching Hill and then
- 9:33Speaker 5: back up to the North Downs and we run across
- 9:36Speaker 5: the top of the ridge line just above the Channel
- 9:40Speaker 5: tunnel and follow that ridge line all the way into
- 9:43Speaker 5: the Battle of Britain Memorial, which is our fifteen mile
- 9:45Speaker 5: start point cable.
- 9:48Speaker 1: So fifteen so then we've got two distances left to
- 9:51Speaker 1: ten and the five So you leave Caple. Where'd you
- 9:53Speaker 1: go then? Because the cliff top becomes more defined then,
- 9:56Speaker 1: doesn't it It does.
- 9:57Speaker 5: We stay slightly off the cliff top to start with,
- 9:59Speaker 5: so yourunning along the back the back road out of
- 10:03Speaker 5: Capol and we come down and join the join the
- 10:10Speaker 5: join the coast again on the on the tarmac cycle track,
- 10:14Speaker 5: so we're pretty much following the cycle track rather than
- 10:16Speaker 5: the footpath. My challenge from a safety point of view
- 10:19Speaker 5: with the footpath is it's quite close to the cliff edge.
- 10:22Speaker 5: And when I've got three or four hundred runners running along,
- 10:25Speaker 5: some of them quite tired, the chance of tripping and
- 10:28Speaker 5: disappearing off the cliff is exactly. So we stick to
- 10:34Speaker 5: the site not quite a scenic, but say around and.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Then goes down.
- 10:39Speaker 5: That's it.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Down onto the over Seafront.
- 10:42Speaker 5: Yeah, pretty much. And then dover Seafront is the ten
- 10:44Speaker 5: miles check point. Yeah.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Right, so we hit the ten miler. But then there's
- 10:49Speaker 1: another sting in the town just there, whem's there? Where
- 10:52Speaker 1: did they go?
- 10:52Speaker 5: Then they had a short short a couple of hundred
- 10:55Speaker 5: meters along the prom and then it's up the steps,
- 10:58Speaker 5: the famous steps up to the National Trust on top
- 11:01Speaker 5: of the cliffs, which everybody loves those.
- 11:04Speaker 1: If you're just starting, but if you've just done like
- 11:07Speaker 1: forty five miles.
- 11:09Speaker 5: It's a challenge. Yeah, that's what it's called. A challenge. Yeah.
- 11:13Speaker 5: And then up there and across the National Trust support
- 11:16Speaker 5: us there, they support us running across their land, so
- 11:20Speaker 5: which is fantastic. And you follow the White Road, the
- 11:23Speaker 5: white the White path basically right across the cliffs.
- 11:26Speaker 1: And then the last point of cool, which I would
- 11:29Speaker 1: think is that is this the most popular under five
- 11:31Speaker 1: miles it is.
- 11:32Speaker 5: Unfortunately, Yeah, I think people are pushing a bit further,
- 11:34Speaker 5: but yeah, the five tends to be the up. We've
- 11:36Speaker 5: got probably about three hundred registered for the five mile
- 11:40Speaker 5: of this year and that's from the the Dover Patrol
- 11:44Speaker 5: Memorial right put some Margaret's beautiful setting for a start point. Yeah,
- 11:49Speaker 5: a bit of a nightmare for cars coming up and
- 11:52Speaker 5: dropping people off, but a beautiful setting for a start point.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Excellent. So from there it's down pretty much downhill, downhill,
- 11:58Speaker 1: and then the law long drag. You think, where is
- 12:01Speaker 1: that finish? You know? Yeah, I remember when I used
- 12:04Speaker 1: to run the deal races that always used to pick
- 12:07Speaker 1: out the finish and think, oh, that's it. But it
- 12:09Speaker 1: was like the lifeboat house, you know, and then you've
- 12:12Speaker 1: got to go anyway, that is it. That's the finish,
- 12:15Speaker 1: and you come into a lovely, fantastic row of sponsors,
- 12:19Speaker 1: flags and a bit of music and the cheers and
- 12:24Speaker 1: the end of your race of a great day. Okay,
- 12:27Speaker 1: we've done quite a lot of speaking there. So I
- 12:29Speaker 1: think this is another track of Dgate. We're going to
- 12:31Speaker 1: play a bit of music and this one. I love
- 12:34Speaker 1: this one and it's so suitable. This is the who,
- 12:37Speaker 1: and it's I can see for miles.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I know you've deceived years. I know that you have
- 12:58Speaker 2: because there's magic I can see.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Well, that's the who there and that's what the ultras
- 13:23Speaker 1: will be singing at two o'clock in the morning when
- 13:25Speaker 1: they set off. I can see for miles and miles
- 13:29Speaker 1: and miles. Right, So Chantell will come back to you.
- 13:32Speaker 1: So I mean that first year you're getting it off
- 13:36Speaker 1: the ground. We've heard all the sort of trials and
- 13:39Speaker 1: tribulations that feel had to go through and to work
- 13:42Speaker 1: out a course and the rest of it. So what
- 13:44Speaker 1: was it like for you to kind of generating interest
- 13:48Speaker 1: and the support for the for the race.
- 13:50Speaker 4: Yeah, well, it was surprisingly how easy it was and
- 13:53Speaker 4: how people got involved, obviously because of my situation at
- 13:56Speaker 4: the time as well. People really want to take part
- 13:59Speaker 4: even if they never ran for and local businesses want
- 14:02Speaker 4: to be part of it as well. And as you remember,
- 14:04Speaker 4: it was quite small where we had it along the seafront,
- 14:09Speaker 4: and then it got busy and busier, so we knew
- 14:11Speaker 4: we had to move it because it was just too
- 14:12Speaker 4: small and dangerous with the road so close. But so no,
- 14:16Speaker 4: really it was pretty easy to put together and gain
- 14:18Speaker 4: was it interested?
- 14:20Speaker 1: I must admit the town of Deal just absolutely come
- 14:23Speaker 1: behind you, didn't they You You are the local heroine.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I must have that. Yeah. But since that time, you've
- 14:32Speaker 1: also sort of over that ten or twelve years, you've
- 14:37Speaker 1: also perceived a lot of accolades, a lot of presentations
- 14:41Speaker 1: have been made. So tell us a bit about that
- 14:44Speaker 1: kind of things that people might not know you've you know,
- 14:46Speaker 1: you've been entered in for awards and tell us about
- 14:48Speaker 1: them all that sort of.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:49Speaker 4: No, I had no idea that I was entering for
- 14:51Speaker 4: prior to Britain Awards for local fundraiser, which was amazing
- 14:55Speaker 4: and I got through to the finals. They come and
- 14:58Speaker 4: surprised me. We went for a family meal at the
- 15:00Speaker 4: Royal Hotel and Deal and the percent of ITV news
- 15:04Speaker 4: turned up really well in local news and yeah, totally
- 15:10Speaker 4: totally out of the blue.
- 15:11Speaker 1: So was that an evening in London then?
- 15:12Speaker 4: Yes it was. It was amazing. Yeah, myself and Lily,
- 15:15Speaker 4: my daughter, we went up and it was just fabulous.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Met all the other people that are nominated as well,
- 15:22Speaker 4: and went for an amazing dinner and what you see
- 15:25Speaker 4: on the telly with all the celebs.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, fantastic.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Yeah, no, it was something very special. Yeah, very proud
- 15:34Speaker 4: of that and to be nominated as well, Yeah, something
- 15:36Speaker 4: I expect.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Did you ever find who put your name for?
- 15:39Speaker 4: Had some ideas, but no one's ever limited.
- 15:44Speaker 1: If you do want it, they would have come forward
- 15:45Speaker 1: to exactly. Okay, So anything else happened that aside from
- 15:52Speaker 1: the race, that's happened to you in the last ten years.
- 15:54Speaker 1: I mean you've you've had to go back in for
- 15:56Speaker 1: more treatment, haven't you. And you've got this wonder drug
- 16:00Speaker 1: we saved your life, isn't it tell us about that?
- 16:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:02Speaker 4: It's called kad Zeila and it is for a secondary
- 16:05Speaker 4: of breast cancer and my type of breast cancer which
- 16:08Speaker 4: is her too positive. And when I was diagnosed with
- 16:12Speaker 4: secondary is it it was a drug that wasn't freely
- 16:15Speaker 4: given to women because of its being so expensive for
- 16:18Speaker 4: the NHS. So with breast cancer now, I joined the
- 16:21Speaker 4: campaign with them to go out to Parliament and speak
- 16:24Speaker 4: out for women that we need it. I was actually
- 16:27Speaker 4: on it at that point, so I was very lucky
- 16:29Speaker 4: and I explained how amazing it makes me feel, and
- 16:31Speaker 4: I ran the London Marathon on it. While I was
- 16:33Speaker 4: taking on that particular chemotherapy, and we pushed with the
- 16:39Speaker 4: charity support and we got it for women the same
- 16:41Speaker 4: position as me to be able to have the drug.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Well that's brilliant.
- 16:46Speaker 4: So I have it every three weeks still and I
- 16:48Speaker 4: will do forever with regular scans, etc.
- 16:51Speaker 1: So there's a lot of a lot of ladies out
- 16:52Speaker 1: that have got a lot to thank for you actually
- 16:55Speaker 1: pushing that forward.
- 16:56Speaker 4: Yeah, primarily. Yeah, I remember I was actually having chemo
- 16:58Speaker 4: that day when I got the phone call to say
- 17:00Speaker 4: gone through, So that that was else.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Yeah, fantastic. So getting back to those early days, You're right,
- 17:07Speaker 1: the first the first one started and I wasn't there.
- 17:09Speaker 1: It used to be on a Sunday, I do believe, right,
- 17:12Speaker 1: and it always clashed with a Race for life, which
- 17:14Speaker 1: was I could never make it as I was kind
- 17:18Speaker 1: of committed to Race for life. And then I do remember,
- 17:22Speaker 1: I know it might have been two or three years,
- 17:24Speaker 1: my friend Clive decided to run the Ultra and then
- 17:30Speaker 1: the band stopped playing and I said, I know this
- 17:32Speaker 1: guy coming in. Can I have the microphone? And so
- 17:35Speaker 1: I got older the microphone and I saw Clive afterwards
- 17:38Speaker 1: and he said, as soon as I heard your voice,
- 17:40Speaker 1: I knew he was at the finish. A lot of
- 17:43Speaker 1: unners say that and slog you know, lid twenty. They
- 17:46Speaker 1: hear my voice and they think I'm nearly there. And
- 17:49Speaker 1: it was so funny because we were just sitting there.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Clive was in the zone and he kind of just
- 17:54Speaker 1: like staring into space, you know, he's just relaxing. And
- 17:58Speaker 1: his wife said to him, Pam, she said, Clive, she said,
- 18:02Speaker 1: since I haven't seen you, you've grown a beard. You've
- 18:04Speaker 1: been out that long on the road.
- 18:07Speaker 5: Uh.
- 18:09Speaker 1: But I mean he always talks about that, and we
- 18:12Speaker 1: both we both remember that day. And I think the
- 18:14Speaker 1: year after you moved it onto the bandstand, onto Saturday
- 18:18Speaker 1: and then I was able to come along, which I
- 18:21Speaker 1: have done ever since. And I really please it. You
- 18:24Speaker 1: keep asking me back. I think in one year they're
- 18:26Speaker 1: going to say, no, thanks, Ken, we don't want you welcome.
- 18:30Speaker 1: But yeah, So so going back to those early days,
- 18:32Speaker 1: so you got the race off the ground, and then
- 18:35Speaker 1: then it grew and grew. I mean, can you remember
- 18:39Speaker 1: how much you made the first year. I know it's
- 18:45Speaker 1: a tough one, but we're going to go onto the money.
- 18:49Speaker 5: Probably, I would think probably sort of three or four
- 18:53Speaker 5: three or four thousand through primarily three sponsors. Yeah yeah, sponsors, yeah, yeah,
- 18:59Speaker 5: all about to because the expenses weren't so much because
- 19:02Speaker 5: it wasn't so b yes, but we still had a
- 19:04Speaker 5: good group of sponsors that came in, so the app
- 19:08Speaker 5: goes won't as.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Much, right, But now it's moved on and twelve years
- 19:14Speaker 1: down the road, what's the target? How much have you
- 19:18Speaker 1: raised now?
- 19:18Speaker 4: It's about two hundred and sixty thousand.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Two hundred and sixty thousand.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Just unbelievable, it's amazing. Yeah, and we appreciated that from
- 19:26Speaker 4: all our sponsors and our runners now who really really
- 19:30Speaker 4: now they started, they're just giving pages, they raise money,
- 19:33Speaker 4: you know, where before people who always just will just
- 19:35Speaker 4: enter and run it for the right reason, yes, but
- 19:38Speaker 4: they now all want to raise money even if they've
- 19:40Speaker 4: not been affected by yeah yeah, breast cancer and they
- 19:42Speaker 4: know it's for the research.
- 19:43Speaker 1: But there's one particular family that to get out a massive,
- 19:47Speaker 1: massive entourage of runners young and old. They've got story
- 19:51Speaker 1: to tell. Again, it's a happy, sad story, So tell
- 19:54Speaker 1: us about them.
- 19:54Speaker 4: As Lee Rainbridge. I used to go to school with
- 19:56Speaker 4: Lee and his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer of
- 20:00Speaker 4: course a few years ago, now nine years ago something
- 20:03Speaker 4: like that, and he got in touch with me touch base,
- 20:06Speaker 4: would you come around and have a chat with her?
- 20:07Speaker 4: So I did. Unfortunately she did pass away shortly after that,
- 20:12Speaker 4: and then he got involved running with the Clifftop with
- 20:15Speaker 4: Cliff Top and some of his friends, and then it's
- 20:18Speaker 4: just gone from strength.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Absolutely ballistic, isn't it. I mean, how many runners? Because
- 20:23Speaker 1: they normally all started the five and they tried to
- 20:26Speaker 1: gather in, so there's a big crowd of them coming
- 20:29Speaker 1: in at the same time, So how many of them
- 20:31Speaker 1: do you reckon of it? This year?
- 20:33Speaker 5: It's more this year I've got in total, he's got
- 20:36Speaker 5: about ninety people that are running that he knows of
- 20:41Speaker 5: as such. In terms of from the five mile start point,
- 20:45Speaker 5: I think there's about forty forty to fifty of them,
- 20:50Speaker 5: and they're having a slightly later start because they've got
- 20:52Speaker 5: a school sports.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Take the time.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Sports, and then they're all coming a bit later to
- 20:59Speaker 5: start the It's a nice thing we can do as
- 21:00Speaker 5: well with this event. We can chop and change. So
- 21:02Speaker 5: they're going to start at two o'clock. So there's about
- 21:05Speaker 5: fifty of them, I think there, and then he's got
- 21:06Speaker 5: another forty doing it involved with the event as well,
- 21:10Speaker 5: so it's amazing.
- 21:11Speaker 4: So he's count every year he just gets more and
- 21:13Speaker 4: more amazing.
- 21:14Speaker 1: It's brilliant than Yeah. But they all come in and
- 21:17Speaker 1: they look so happy and they I mean they punching
- 21:20Speaker 1: and jump in and smiling and tears as well across
- 21:23Speaker 1: the line. It is an emotional day as well, isn't it.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Because some people might be doing it. It's very similar
- 21:28Speaker 1: to the Race for Life. They might have lost their
- 21:31Speaker 1: mum to breast cancer weeks ago, months ago, but kind
- 21:35Speaker 1: of brings it all back, doesn't it. Yeah, Yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay,
- 21:39Speaker 1: we're going to play another little song now, so we've
- 21:42Speaker 1: got this time. Oh yeah, this is We're going to
- 21:44Speaker 1: keep you slow it down a little bit, but you're
- 21:46Speaker 1: all going to love this one. This is George Michael
- 21:48Speaker 1: and Elton John and this is what we want on
- 21:51Speaker 1: the next sun the next Saturday. A bit of sunshine.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Don't let the Sun Go down on Me.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I care no more.
- 22:36Speaker 1: What a classic track there, Don't let the Sun Go
- 22:38Speaker 1: Down on Me George Michael featuring Elton John and I
- 22:43Speaker 1: love the bit in the middle where he goes ladies
- 22:45Speaker 1: and gentlemen, Elton John and their crowd go mad. That
- 22:48Speaker 1: was a live recording. Brilliant. Okay, so we're joined our
- 22:52Speaker 1: and this is you just tuned in. This is Kevin
- 22:55Speaker 1: Daley on Radio Folkstone and are joined by Phil and
- 22:58Speaker 1: Chantelle Rashbrook, who are the brain child behind the behind
- 23:01Speaker 1: the cliff Top Challenge. So Phil, right, let's let's people
- 23:07Speaker 1: that are running the Clifftop Challenge. It is great. I
- 23:09Speaker 1: mean they get out there to do the stuff, they
- 23:10Speaker 1: turn up do they run, make some money for the
- 23:14Speaker 1: for the charity. But there's so much goes on behind
- 23:16Speaker 1: the scenes. So apart from the route, are you do
- 23:20Speaker 1: you have to answer the emails, sort of the questions
- 23:23Speaker 1: and do all the entries. Is that your job?
- 23:26Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, pretty much so, so I'll probably start well,
- 23:29Speaker 5: we start well over a year in advance to be honest,
- 23:32Speaker 5: because we have to book permissions for certain bits of ground,
- 23:35Speaker 5: so things like the Finnish area and the Warmer green
- 23:38Speaker 5: In deal we have to book that. In fact, we've
- 23:41Speaker 5: probably got it booked for the next two or three
- 23:42Speaker 5: years the date they want because it's such a popular venue.
- 23:46Speaker 5: We then have to put in obviously paperwork with the
- 23:49Speaker 5: council for an event management plan, so that's quite an
- 23:53Speaker 5: extensive plan which then goes in front of people like
- 23:56Speaker 5: the police in the FAS Service just to make sure
- 23:58Speaker 5: you've got everything in place for they point of view.
- 24:00Speaker 5: So we do get well supported by Dover District Council,
- 24:03Speaker 5: which is great. We then have to look at the
- 24:08Speaker 5: medical side of stuff, so we need obviously you've got
- 24:11Speaker 5: runners spread across fifty five miles of the coast and
- 24:16Speaker 5: some of them starting at two o'clock in the morning
- 24:18Speaker 5: when it's pitch black, so we're running in sort of
- 24:20Speaker 5: terrain that's quite awkward to get to and quite eity
- 24:23Speaker 5: to trip and have accidents on, so we need to
- 24:26Speaker 5: ensure we've got the right medical support in place. Again,
- 24:28Speaker 5: we have Saint John who have been supporting us now
- 24:31Speaker 5: for I think probably for the last ten years. They've
- 24:35Speaker 5: been involved with the cliff Top and they love the
- 24:37Speaker 5: event because it's something different for them. It's not turning
- 24:39Speaker 5: up to a fate and standing there all day. They've
- 24:42Speaker 5: actually got to move about and so they're well versed
- 24:45Speaker 5: and they love doing that. So so we have them
- 24:48Speaker 5: on call. We also need to work with the National
- 24:52Speaker 5: Trust up on the cliffs, so again they support us
- 24:55Speaker 5: very well. You know, we've got a lot of support
- 24:57Speaker 5: from the National Trust at Langdon's.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Good jobs because if they say no, then you've got
- 25:01Speaker 1: to find one of those rules.
- 25:02Speaker 5: Well, I mean this is something I'm not sure because
- 25:05Speaker 5: it's a public footpath, but it is over land that
- 25:09Speaker 5: they own as such. So we do have a very
- 25:13Speaker 5: good working relationship with them, with the manager up there
- 25:16Speaker 5: who's very supportive with his team and actually during any
- 25:18Speaker 5: of it, which I don't get to see although I'm
- 25:21Speaker 5: out supporting the longer distance runners, I don't get to
- 25:24Speaker 5: see some of the support the runners get a long
- 25:26Speaker 5: route and apparently a lot of the National Trust the
- 25:29Speaker 5: staff are actually out on the route and crapping. They
- 25:31Speaker 5: open the gates for everybody and they're all up supporting
- 25:33Speaker 5: the runners as they come through. But I have to
- 25:35Speaker 5: work with them. And then there's another level now of
- 25:39Speaker 5: paperwork that's involved with Natural England because Natural England have
- 25:42Speaker 5: taken over foot paths and areas, so you've got to
- 25:45Speaker 5: apply to them for permissions so that it does build up.
- 25:49Speaker 5: So you need to start well in advance.
- 25:51Speaker 1: To say, you know, in recent years. It sounds like,
- 25:55Speaker 1: to be honest, you've done it for so long now
- 25:57Speaker 1: it should be like second nature. But is there always
- 26:00Speaker 1: something that pops up and think, Oh, no, you know,
- 26:02Speaker 1: we've got to go through that jump.
- 26:04Speaker 5: More hoops I had when I've been outmarking the route.
- 26:07Speaker 1: You don't have to.
- 26:10Speaker 5: Well, I could say that there's some areas where maybe
- 26:12Speaker 5: I'll be marking routes and you get to a point
- 26:14Speaker 5: and then it says footpath close between now and such
- 26:17Speaker 5: and so, and I'm like, well, that's our route, But
- 26:21Speaker 5: there's no the footpath is open. There's just a sign
- 26:24Speaker 5: that says it could be shut any time between now
- 26:27Speaker 5: and the next two months. And then you ring up
- 26:29Speaker 5: to find out and they can't tell you when it's
- 26:31Speaker 5: going to be shut. So that's not we've had road.
- 26:38Speaker 5: We've had the first the first year we actually ran
- 26:41Speaker 5: it and I was running the fifty five. I was
- 26:44Speaker 5: coming just up to is it one of the creek
- 26:47Speaker 5: roads that actually they were retarmacing it, which we didn't know.
- 26:53Speaker 5: So I turned up at the bottom of the hill.
- 26:56Speaker 5: Cars couldn't go up, but they let us go up running.
- 26:58Speaker 5: But because they're really tarmacing it all the gravel. We're
- 27:00Speaker 5: sticking to the bottom of your trainers, so you're running
- 27:03Speaker 5: on like almost like platform shoes.
- 27:05Speaker 1: By the time we got to the top of the hill,
- 27:07Speaker 1: you come out, you come back six seasons.
- 27:09Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, So you have things like that that you
- 27:11Speaker 5: have to react to. There's a lot of work going
- 27:14Speaker 5: on down in the Rye area with the Environment Agency
- 27:17Speaker 5: and flood defenses. So the old route that we took
- 27:20Speaker 5: for the first six or seven years, we haven't been
- 27:23Speaker 5: able to go on for the last three or four
- 27:24Speaker 5: years because the route's closed, so we've had to redirect
- 27:29Speaker 5: around that. So you do have to bet and sometimes
- 27:31Speaker 5: even on the days until said we've had it on
- 27:33Speaker 5: the day where you turn up and a road shut
- 27:36Speaker 5: and what are we going to do here? So you
- 27:37Speaker 5: do have to be quite reactive, and that's why we've
- 27:39Speaker 5: got such a good team as well of marshals and
- 27:42Speaker 5: helpers that.
- 27:43Speaker 1: You've obviously built up a good rapport with people like
- 27:46Speaker 1: the Council and National Trust. Yeah, and Butler Britain as well.
- 27:50Speaker 5: I should mention them as well. They're Buttle of Britain
- 27:52Speaker 5: have been very supportive since day one in terms of
- 27:55Speaker 5: allowing us to use their location for the fifteen mile
- 27:58Speaker 5: start point and Jules that are managers, been brilliant, excellent.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Well, we are running out of time. I can't believe
- 28:04Speaker 1: we've been on air for three quarters of an hour now,
- 28:06Speaker 1: so I'm going to play another song, but we will
- 28:09Speaker 1: be coming back to talk to Few and Chantelle, so
- 28:11Speaker 1: let's try this one. This is what we want for
- 28:13Speaker 1: the next next Saturday, walking on sunshine. So that's what
- 28:43Speaker 1: we're hoping for a next Saturday at the cliff Top Challenge.
- 28:46Speaker 1: We want to be walking on sunshine while runners are
- 28:49Speaker 1: running on sunshine. Not too hot though, we hope. So Chantel,
- 28:53Speaker 1: it's time to kind of wind things up a little bit.
- 28:57Speaker 1: It's difficult to know. We could do a to hour
- 28:58Speaker 1: show on this one, definitely, but your family has been
- 29:02Speaker 1: involved as well, and looking back at the pictures from
- 29:04Speaker 1: ten years ago, you had your two children, Lily and
- 29:08Speaker 1: Charlie here and they couldn't make it today. But certainly
- 29:13Speaker 1: Lily has been very active recently since she's come back
- 29:16Speaker 1: from her travel, has been running around, doesn't she. And
- 29:18Speaker 1: you tell me she's running on Saturday.
- 29:20Speaker 4: Yes she is. We've never allowed it before because we
- 29:22Speaker 4: need her on the finish line.
- 29:23Speaker 5: To help you.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Yeah, but she's got into her running since she did
- 29:27Speaker 4: the Brighter Marathon, so she's kept up, which we're really
- 29:30Speaker 4: chuffed with. Right, So yes, it's going to run the
- 29:33Speaker 4: fifteen or being well, oh great, and then she'll continue
- 29:35Speaker 4: on the finish line when she gets back.
- 29:37Speaker 1: And Charlie has always been a helper. He's been dishing
- 29:40Speaker 1: out the medals and stuff like that. And then will
- 29:42Speaker 1: he be around Yes.
- 29:42Speaker 4: He's around him and doing the medals again this year,
- 29:45Speaker 4: which they really enjoy and the bottles of water for
- 29:48Speaker 4: everyone coming in before they collect their finishing tops. Well great, yeah,
- 29:51Speaker 4: he'll be there.
- 29:52Speaker 1: And your mum and dad they've been I don't know,
- 29:55Speaker 1: behind you all the way and they have been great support.
- 29:58Speaker 1: So how are they and what are they up to
- 30:00Speaker 1: on the day?
- 30:00Speaker 2: Oh?
- 30:00Speaker 4: Absolutely, yeah, we couldn't do it without them, Mum and
- 30:02Speaker 4: Dad being brilliant. Dad, you know, Dad being Dad, the
- 30:05Speaker 4: man in pink who gets all the sponsorship together, works
- 30:08Speaker 4: and tirelessly all year round. He just lives in Breeze
- 30:11Speaker 4: Cliff Top. They're doing well, they're doing very well and
- 30:14Speaker 4: they'll be there in full force on Saturday as guys.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Yeah, excellent, right now, you got. Oh, yeah, the entertainment
- 30:22Speaker 1: tell us about that and that's very important.
- 30:23Speaker 4: Yeah, We've we've got we're just having one band again
- 30:26Speaker 4: this year because we feel sometimes we've had some amazing
- 30:29Speaker 4: bands doing it for the charity and no charge, but
- 30:32Speaker 4: you sometimes tend to forget about the bands because everyone's
- 30:35Speaker 4: concentrating on the runners. So we've got a saxophonist who's
- 30:38Speaker 4: going to walk around part of the afternoon with the saxophone.
- 30:41Speaker 4: We've also got the soul choir that will be singing
- 30:43Speaker 4: for about half an hour about twelve twelve thirty, which
- 30:47Speaker 4: is quite a new choir locally. And then we've got
- 30:50Speaker 4: late to the function, which is my friend's daughter's band,
- 30:54Speaker 4: and they're just they're just getting better and better, so
- 30:58Speaker 4: we gave them a chance to play, Yeah at cliff Top.
- 31:01Speaker 1: They can't wait, right, Yeah, And I do believe you
- 31:04Speaker 1: might a bet to answer this one, Phil. Was it
- 31:06Speaker 1: last year we actually went onto the bandstand because the
- 31:09Speaker 1: year before, yeah, yeah, because the weather was so bad.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Will you be trying to do it outside again?
- 31:13Speaker 5: Ideally we use the bandstand as a backdrop rather than
- 31:17Speaker 5: actually put the bands on there because this is a
- 31:19Speaker 5: bit restricted seeing what's going on. But again we have
- 31:21Speaker 5: support from the Bandstand, So the deal Memorial Bandstand will
- 31:24Speaker 5: allow us to use the bandstand should the weather be
- 31:27Speaker 5: in clement and we need to get them under shelter,
- 31:30Speaker 5: but that's not going to happen this year, so right.
- 31:32Speaker 1: You're right, And what about electricity and electricity problems.
- 31:38Speaker 5: Plug and yeah, that's a couple of years on the
- 31:42Speaker 5: trot and mom, yeah it hasn't since we've we've now
- 31:46Speaker 5: got around, Jenny, and that's what you plug into. You
- 31:49Speaker 5: don't touch anything to do with the bandstand because.
- 31:52Speaker 1: That's there's a power cut and deal that day.
- 31:55Speaker 5: It's a bit hard for me because I'm on the
- 31:57Speaker 5: committee of the Bandstand as well, so I have to
- 31:59Speaker 5: sit in the meetings and take the grief. So yeah,
- 32:02Speaker 5: we're we've got to We've that's sorted. It's only taken
- 32:05Speaker 5: ten years to sort that out, but we've done it.
- 32:07Speaker 4: They're very supportive and the RM as well.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Explain what to people.
- 32:13Speaker 4: A man association.
- 32:15Speaker 1: They got a little bar across the road and they.
- 32:17Speaker 4: Open up for us on the day and they take
- 32:19Speaker 4: a bit of money on the door, so not just
- 32:21Speaker 4: you can go in, Yeah, use their facilities obviously, buy
- 32:24Speaker 4: beer if you want to. Yeah, yeah, but we will
- 32:27Speaker 4: have drinks and food on the green, but also bring
- 32:29Speaker 4: a picnic, you know.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it's one thing it's worth talking about. Although you
- 32:33Speaker 1: have told me that it's full up. Is the table
- 32:36Speaker 1: area and the picnic type of thing. Tell us briefly
- 32:40Speaker 1: a little bit of that, because that's a say, relatively
- 32:43Speaker 1: new idea. I mean it might be six or seven
- 32:44Speaker 1: years old now, but got a great idea.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Yeah, Dad came up with it. We basically get these
- 32:49Speaker 4: tables in from a company and we sell a table,
- 32:53Speaker 4: so ten pounds a seat, and you can have that
- 32:55Speaker 4: table for the day. Then it's yours. People come and
- 32:58Speaker 4: join you maybe or not. Yes, and we've I think
- 33:01Speaker 4: we're pretty much sold. We're done, tables are all sold,
- 33:04Speaker 4: and then other people bring their picnics.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Yeah, so peel the entries on their closed. Is that correct?
- 33:13Speaker 5: Yeah, we we And that's that's something we basically close
- 33:18Speaker 5: about three three weeks before the event because we have
- 33:22Speaker 5: to pre order things like medals and the running tops,
- 33:25Speaker 5: so we can't take entries on the day. We can't
- 33:27Speaker 5: because it's too spread out and you're not going to
- 33:30Speaker 5: get a top at the end. You're not going to
- 33:32Speaker 5: get a medal because every extra top and every medal
- 33:35Speaker 5: we end up with is money that could have gone
- 33:37Speaker 5: to the charity. So we're very careful that we try
- 33:40Speaker 5: not to overorder. So generally it's about three weeks, but
- 33:43Speaker 5: entries have been open since October last year, so they've
- 33:45Speaker 5: been plenty of time. And then that three weeks gives
- 33:48Speaker 5: us time to get everything finalized, get our orders into
- 33:51Speaker 5: the running tops and the medals, generate all the lists
- 33:56Speaker 5: we need to generate for all the checkpoints because again,
- 33:58Speaker 5: having runners spread fifty five miles across the coast, we've
- 34:01Speaker 5: got to make sure we keep an eye where everyone is.
- 34:04Speaker 1: So what I'd like to say is anyone that's listening
- 34:06Speaker 1: to this and is actually running, then I hope you've
- 34:09Speaker 1: kind of opened your eyes as to what goes on
- 34:12Speaker 1: behind the scenes. As Phil said, they've got a book,
- 34:15Speaker 1: The Green Up, two or three years ahead, and I'm
- 34:18Speaker 1: sure that as soon as this one is over, if
- 34:21Speaker 1: they haven't already, they've started to plan for twenty twenty seven.
- 34:24Speaker 1: So run as when you're when you're crossing that line
- 34:27Speaker 1: and you're moaning about the time or whatever, order, distance
- 34:30Speaker 1: or something, just forget it. We're raising money for charity.
- 34:33Speaker 1: So much work gone into it, so much behind the scenes,
- 34:36Speaker 1: and let's just focus on having a great day and
- 34:40Speaker 1: helping out the charity. You've seen that over the last
- 34:44Speaker 1: twelve years or so, they've raised two hundred and sixty
- 34:47Speaker 1: thousand pounds and thanks to people like Chantel who's been
- 34:51Speaker 1: back in this drug at Cadzilah, so many more women
- 34:54Speaker 1: have given have been given much more time to be
- 34:58Speaker 1: with us thanks to the And it's all down to
- 35:01Speaker 1: really this cliff Top challenge. So I'm in a little
- 35:03Speaker 1: role here, but I just can't. Yeah, there's such a
- 35:07Speaker 1: good team and they've got such a good team behind them.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I just want people to appreciate it, which I know
- 35:11Speaker 1: you do, but you think that when you've been doing
- 35:15Speaker 1: it all these years that is oh, it's nothing. They've
- 35:17Speaker 1: been doing it years now. You know it's easy, but
- 35:19Speaker 1: it's not. There's always something that crops up. So now, Chantell,
- 35:24Speaker 1: this is a real tough one. But there's so many
- 35:28Speaker 1: people out there. But I think at least you should
- 35:32Speaker 1: mention a few of your real helpers over the years.
- 35:35Speaker 1: There's a few, Thank you. There's a tough one for
- 35:37Speaker 1: you to answer.
- 35:38Speaker 4: But because there's so many our marshals and that are amazing,
- 35:42Speaker 4: and there's too many to mention. Of course, they know
- 35:46Speaker 4: who they are and we are now in a fabulous
- 35:48Speaker 4: position where we can just let them rock up at
- 35:51Speaker 4: their start point and they put it all together. Yeah,
- 35:53Speaker 4: we don't have to have.
- 35:54Speaker 1: To worry about them.
- 35:55Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 35:55Speaker 1: You know, they just know what they're.
- 35:56Speaker 4: Doing, not at all, and and that's a great thing
- 36:00Speaker 4: for us. We just leave them to it because there's
- 36:02Speaker 4: not enough of us to keep going around. It's a
- 36:05Speaker 4: small family event organized organizers, so we just drop ourket
- 36:10Speaker 4: off to them, their bananas, the water, their checklists, and
- 36:13Speaker 4: they just do it.
- 36:14Speaker 1: They know what to do.
- 36:15Speaker 4: I even get the message of me going right, we're
- 36:17Speaker 4: doing this and doing this. I went, that's great. Yeah,
- 36:19Speaker 4: you just get on with it because I know we
- 36:21Speaker 4: can trust it.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel a last a couple of words from you.
- 36:24Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, you've had the job behind the scenes
- 36:28Speaker 1: doing the route. Especially runners, you must appreciate what goes
- 36:31Speaker 1: into the route and it doesn't end there, what happens
- 36:33Speaker 1: after the after it's happened. Tell all the runners out
- 36:37Speaker 1: there and everybody on radio, folks, and when the day
- 36:40Speaker 1: is over, what have you got to do?
- 36:42Speaker 5: Yeah, when the day's over and you've all finished year
- 36:45Speaker 5: five ten, fifty five mile or whatever, and you have
- 36:48Speaker 5: a few days off and a few days rests. Sunday morning,
- 36:51Speaker 5: I go out and start taking all the signs back signs.
- 36:53Speaker 5: So I've got fifty five miles well for signs to
- 36:55Speaker 5: bring back in. So yeah, that takes me another few
- 36:58Speaker 5: days to be fair out my wife and then yeah,
- 37:01Speaker 5: get ready for the following year. But yeah it does.
- 37:04Speaker 5: It doesn't stop for us after after that, unfortunately, but
- 37:07Speaker 5: we love it.
- 37:08Speaker 1: So yeah, great, Okay, Well we've got to get all
- 37:11Speaker 1: this song in. I don't think, but we're going to
- 37:13Speaker 1: put it in. This is the last song of the day.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Then we would just come back and say a few goodbyes.
- 37:16Speaker 1: So this is what we want next Saturday at the
- 37:18Speaker 1: Cliff Top Challenge. Here comes the Sun, the Beatles, he.
- 37:28Speaker 5: Comes us, Here comes us.
- 37:35Speaker 2: It's all right.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Here, okay, So we're going to fade the Beatles out
- 38:00Speaker 1: here comes the Sun because that is what we are
- 38:02Speaker 1: hoping for next Saturday. So as we've only got about
- 38:06Speaker 1: forty odd seconds left, I just want to say a
- 38:08Speaker 1: big thank you to you Chantelle, thank you so much
- 38:10Speaker 1: for coming in. You've been a great inspiration to this
- 38:14Speaker 1: race and the people of Deal and all ladies out
- 38:17Speaker 1: there that have looked up to you with all the
- 38:21Speaker 1: trials and tribulations you've you've had to put up with.
- 38:24Speaker 1: And Phil, big thanks to you, the man behind the scenes.
- 38:27Speaker 1: You're doing a brilliant job and I do sympathize with
- 38:29Speaker 1: you going back and taking those signs. Do you know what,
- 38:32Speaker 1: I'm going to mention that again on Saturday when I
- 38:35Speaker 1: turn up. So so I just want to say thanks
- 38:38Speaker 1: to you, Phil, thanks for coming in.
- 38:39Speaker 5: No thanks Kevin, thanks for all your support for.
- 38:41Speaker 1: You, Thanks you Grace. So there you go. That's it
- 38:44Speaker 1: and we'll be back next Saturday. Actually, I've got some
- 38:48Speaker 1: London Marathon guests that are coming in. We're run it
- 38:51Speaker 1: out of time now, so I will see you next
