- 0:14SPEAKER_00: We're here today to break down some of the economic data, and we're still in what is about to cross over as the longest government shutdown on record.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: But we do get private economic data, and we got the Institute for Supply Management's survey on in manufacturing for the month of October.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: And unfortunately, it came in weaker than expected.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: We saw a weakness not only at the production side, but also in the inventories.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: We also saw what's considered a negative, but actually could be a little bit of positive news for the Fed.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: It's the prices paid component.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: It's still elevated, it's still showing inflation pressures are there, but it did slip in the month of October.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: It fell the most, and that's what led to some of this decline in the index itself.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: But it's now sitting at the lowest level that we've had all year.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Actually goes back to December of 24 before we had a lower level.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: But this is something that would the Fed may look at as far as tariffs.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Are they having any impact?
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: And it looks as though in this data that it's really not having the inflationary pressures as some may have anticipated.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: We're also seeing from the positive side that the new export orders were higher.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: And then we're looking, though, maybe some supply chain disruptions here.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: We'll look at these going forward.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: It's just one month.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: We'll, we don't like to take one month of data as a trend, but we saw an uptick in the backlog of orders as well as delivery times.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: So these are some of the things we watched very closely during the pandemic.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: We'll keep an eye on these as well as we go forward.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: We'll be back again with some more economic data or market moving events.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: So let's hope this government shutdown can end sooner because we want to come back on these regular podcasts and get a better uh picture of what's truly going on in the economy.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: Thank you again.
