- 0:00Speaker 1: Second Nephi, chapter twenty eight. And now behold, my brethren,
- 0:05Speaker 1: I have spoken unto you, according as a spirit hath
- 0:08Speaker 1: constrained me. Wherefore I know that they must surely come
- 0:12Speaker 1: to pass. And the things which shall be written out
- 0:15Speaker 1: of the book shall be of great worth unto the
- 0:17Speaker 1: children of men, and especially unto our seed, which is
- 0:21Speaker 1: a remnant of the House of Israel. For it shall
- 0:24Speaker 1: come to pass in that day that the churches which
- 0:27Speaker 1: are built up and not unto the Lord. When the
- 0:30Speaker 1: one shall say unto the other, behold, I am the lords,
- 0:34Speaker 1: and the others shall say, I I am the Lords.
- 0:38Speaker 1: And thus shall every one say that hath built up
- 0:40Speaker 1: churches and not unto the Lord. And they shall contend
- 0:44Speaker 1: one with another, and their priests shall contend one with another.
- 0:48Speaker 1: And they shall teach with their learning, and deny the
- 0:51Speaker 1: Holy Ghost, which giveth utterance, and they deny the power
- 0:56Speaker 1: of God, the Holy One of Israel. And they say
- 0:59Speaker 1: unto the people. Hearken unto us, and hear ye our precept.
- 1:04Speaker 1: For behold, there is no God to day. For the
- 1:06Speaker 1: Lord and the Redeemer hath done his work, and yeth
- 1:10Speaker 1: given his power unto men. Behold hearken ye unto my precept.
- 1:15Speaker 1: If they shall say there is a miracle wrought by
- 1:17Speaker 1: the hand of the Lord, believe it not. For this
- 1:21Speaker 1: day He is not a god of miracles. He hath
- 1:24Speaker 1: done his work. Yea. And there shall be many which
- 1:28Speaker 1: shall say, eat, drink and be merry. For tomorrow we die,
- 1:33Speaker 1: and it shall be well with us. And there shall
- 1:36Speaker 1: also be many which shall say, eat, drink and be merry. Nevertheless,
- 1:41Speaker 1: fear God. He will justify in committing a little sin. Yea,
- 1:46Speaker 1: lie a little, take the advantage of one because of
- 1:49Speaker 1: his words. Dig a pit for thy neighbor. There is
- 1:53Speaker 1: no harm in this, and do all these things. For
- 1:56Speaker 1: tomorrow we die. And if it so be that we
- 1:59Speaker 1: are guilty, God will beat us with a few stripes,
- 2:02Speaker 1: and at last we shall be saved in the kingdom
- 2:04Speaker 1: of God. Yea. And there shall be many which shall
- 2:08Speaker 1: teach after this manner, false and vain and foolish doctrines,
- 2:13Speaker 1: and shall be puffed up in their hearts, and shall
- 2:16Speaker 1: seek deep to hide their counsels from the Lord, and
- 2:21Speaker 1: their works shall be in the dark, and the blood
- 2:24Speaker 1: of the saints shall cry from the ground against them. Yea.
- 2:28Speaker 1: They have all gone out of the way. They have
- 2:30Speaker 1: become corrupted because of pride, and because of false teachers
- 2:35Speaker 1: and false doctrine. Their churches have become corrupted, and their
- 2:40Speaker 1: churches are lifted up because of pride. They are puffed up.
- 2:44Speaker 1: They rob the poor because of their fine sanctuaries. They
- 2:48Speaker 1: rob the poor because of their fine clothing, and they
- 2:51Speaker 1: persecute the meek and the poor in heart because of
- 2:54Speaker 1: their pride. They are puffed up. They wear stiff necks
- 2:58Speaker 1: and high heads. Yea, And because of pride and wickedness
- 3:03Speaker 1: and abominations and hordems, they have all gone astray, save
- 3:08Speaker 1: it be a few who are the humble followers of Christ. Nevertheless,
- 3:13Speaker 1: they are led that in many instances they do er
- 3:16Speaker 1: because they are taught by the precepts of men. Oh,
- 3:19Speaker 1: the wise and the learned, and the rich that are
- 3:22Speaker 1: puffed up in the pride of their hearts, and all
- 3:25Speaker 1: those who preach false doctrines, and all those who commit
- 3:28Speaker 1: horedems and pervert the right way of the Lord, Woe, woe,
- 3:34Speaker 1: woe be unto them, saith the Lord God Almighty, for
- 3:37Speaker 1: they shall be thrust down to hell. Woe unto them
- 3:41Speaker 1: that turn aside the just for thing of naught, and
- 3:44Speaker 1: revile against that which is good, and say that it
- 3:47Speaker 1: is of no worth. For the day shall come that
- 3:50Speaker 1: the Lord God will speedily visit the inhabitants of the earth,
- 3:54Speaker 1: And in that day that they are fully ripe in iniquity,
- 3:57Speaker 1: they shall perish. But behold, if the inhabitants of the
- 4:01Speaker 1: earth shall repent of their wickedness and abominations, they shall
- 4:05Speaker 1: not be destroyed, saith the Lord of hosts. But behold,
- 4:09Speaker 1: that great and abominable Church, the whore of all the earth,
- 4:14Speaker 1: must tumble to the earth, and great must be the
- 4:17Speaker 1: fall thereof. For the kingdom of the devil must shake,
- 4:21Speaker 1: and they which belong to it must needs be stirred
- 4:23Speaker 1: up unto repentance, or the devil will grasp them with
- 4:26Speaker 1: his everlasting chains, and they be stirred up to anger
- 4:30Speaker 1: and perish. For behold, at that day shall he rage
- 4:35Speaker 1: in the hearts of the children of men and stir
- 4:37Speaker 1: them up to anger against that which is good, and
- 4:41Speaker 1: others he will pacify and lull them away into a
- 4:44Speaker 1: carnal security, that they shall say, all is well, and
- 4:48Speaker 1: Zion yea Zion prospereth, all is well. And thus the
- 4:54Speaker 1: devil cheateeth their souls and leadeth them away carefully down
- 4:58Speaker 1: to hell, and behold others. He flattereth away and telleth
- 5:02Speaker 1: them there is no hell, and he saith unto them,
- 5:06Speaker 1: I am no devil, for there is none. And thus
- 5:10Speaker 1: he whispereth in their ears, until he grasps them with
- 5:13Speaker 1: his awful chains. From whence there is no deliverance. Yea,
- 5:19Speaker 1: they are grasped with death and hell, and death and hell,
- 5:23Speaker 1: and the devil, and all that have been seized. Therewith
- 5:26Speaker 1: must stand before the throne of God and be judged
- 5:29Speaker 1: according to their works. From whence they must go into
- 5:33Speaker 1: the place prepared for them, even a lake of fire
- 5:36Speaker 1: and brimstone, which is endless torment. Therefore, woe be unto
- 5:41Speaker 1: him that is at ease and zion. Woe be unto
- 5:45Speaker 1: him that crieth all is well. Yea, woe be unto
- 5:50Speaker 1: him that hearkeneth unto the precepts of men, and denieth
- 5:53Speaker 1: the power of God and the gift of the Holy Ghost. Yea,
- 5:58Speaker 1: woe be unto him that saith we have received, and
- 6:02Speaker 1: we need no more. And and fine woe unto all
- 6:06Speaker 1: those who tremble and are angry because of the truth
- 6:09Speaker 1: of God. For behold, he that is built upon the rock,
- 6:13Speaker 1: receiveth it with gladness. And he that is built upon
- 6:17Speaker 1: a sandy foundation trembleth lest he should fall. Woe be
- 6:22Speaker 1: unto him that shall say, we have received the word
- 6:25Speaker 1: of God, and we need no more of the word
- 6:27Speaker 1: of God, for we have enough. For behold, thus saith
- 6:32Speaker 1: the Lord God. I will give unto the children of men,
- 6:35Speaker 1: line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and
- 6:40Speaker 1: there a little. And blessed are those who hearken unto
- 6:43Speaker 1: my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for
- 6:47Speaker 1: they shall learn wisdom. For unto him that receiveth I
- 6:51Speaker 1: will give more. And from them that shall say we
- 6:55Speaker 1: have enough, from them shall be taken away, even that
- 6:58Speaker 1: which they have curse. It is he that putteth his
- 7:02Speaker 1: trust in man, or maketh flesh his arm, or shall
- 7:06Speaker 1: hearken unto the precepts of men, save their precepts. Thou
- 7:10Speaker 1: be given by the power of the Holy Ghost. Woe
- 7:13Speaker 1: be unto the gentiles, saith the Lord, God of Hosts.
- 7:16Speaker 1: For notwithstanding I shall lengthen out my arm unto them.
- 7:20Speaker 1: From day to day they will deny me. Nevertheless, I
- 7:24Speaker 1: will be merciful unto them, saith the Lord God, if
- 7:27Speaker 1: they will repent and come unto me, for mine arm
- 7:31Speaker 1: is lengthened out all the day long, saith the Lord
- 7:33Speaker 1: God of Hosts, Second NETHI, chapter twenty nine. But behold,
- 7:41Speaker 1: there shall be many at that day when I shall
- 7:44Speaker 1: proceed to do a marvelous work among them, that I
- 7:47Speaker 1: may remember the covenants which I have made unto the
- 7:49Speaker 1: children of men, that I may set my hand again
- 7:52Speaker 1: the second time to recover my people, which are of
- 7:55Speaker 1: the House of Israel. And also that I may remember
- 7:59Speaker 1: the promises which I have made unto thee Nephi, and
- 8:02Speaker 1: also unto thy Father, that I would remember your seed,
- 8:06Speaker 1: and that the words of your seed should proceed forth
- 8:09Speaker 1: out of my mouth unto your seed. And my words
- 8:12Speaker 1: shall hiss forth unto the ends of the earth for
- 8:15Speaker 1: a standard unto my people, which are of the House
- 8:17Speaker 1: of Israel. And because my words shall hiss forth, many
- 8:21Speaker 1: of the gentiles shall say a bible a bible. We
- 8:26Speaker 1: have got a bible, and there cannot be any more bible.
- 8:30Speaker 1: But thus saith the Lord God, O fools, they shall
- 8:35Speaker 1: have a Bible, and it shall proceed forth from the Jews,
- 8:38Speaker 1: mine ancient covenant people. And what thank they the Jews
- 8:42Speaker 1: for the Bible which they receive from them? Yea, What
- 8:46Speaker 1: do the gentiles mean? Do they remember the travails and
- 8:50Speaker 1: the pains and the labors of the Jews, and their
- 8:53Speaker 1: diligence unto me in bringing forth salvation? Unto the gentiles? O? Ye, gentiles,
- 9:00Speaker 1: have ye remembered the Jews mine ancient covenant people. Nay?
- 9:04Speaker 1: But ye have cursed them and have hated them, and
- 9:07Speaker 1: have not sought to recover them. But behold, I will
- 9:11Speaker 1: return all these things upon your own heads. For I
- 9:15Speaker 1: the Lord, have not forgotten my people. Thou fool that
- 9:19Speaker 1: shall say a bible, we have got a Bible, and
- 9:22Speaker 1: we need no more Bible. Have ye obtained a Bible
- 9:25Speaker 1: save it were by the Jews? Know ye not that
- 9:29Speaker 1: there are more nations than one? Know ye not that I,
- 9:33Speaker 1: the Lord your God, have created all men, and that
- 9:36Speaker 1: I remember those who are upon the isles of the sea,
- 9:39Speaker 1: And that I rule in the heavens above and in
- 9:41Speaker 1: the earth beneath. And I bring forth my word unto
- 9:45Speaker 1: the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations
- 9:48Speaker 1: of the earth. Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall
- 9:52Speaker 1: receive more of my word. Know ye not that the
- 9:56Speaker 1: testimony of two nations is a witness unto you, that
- 9:59Speaker 1: I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Wherefore I speak the same words unto one nation, like
- 10:08Speaker 1: unto another. And when the two nations shall run together,
- 10:12Speaker 1: the testimony of the two nations shall run together also.
- 10:17Speaker 1: And I do this that I may prove unto many
- 10:20Speaker 1: that I am the same yesterday, today and forever, and
- 10:24Speaker 1: that I speak forth my words according to mine own pleasure.
- 10:28Speaker 1: And because that I have spoken one word, ye need
- 10:30Speaker 1: not suppose that I cannot speak another. For my work
- 10:34Speaker 1: is not yet finished, neither shall it be until the
- 10:37Speaker 1: end of man, neither from that time, henceforth and forever. Wherefore,
- 10:43Speaker 1: because that ye have a Bible, ye need not suppose
- 10:46Speaker 1: that it contains all my words. Neither need ye suppose
- 10:50Speaker 1: that I have not caused more to be written. For
- 10:53Speaker 1: I command all men, both in the east and in
- 10:56Speaker 1: the west, and in the north, and in the south,
- 10:59Speaker 1: and in the islands of the sea, that they shall
- 11:02Speaker 1: write the words which I speak unto them. For out
- 11:05Speaker 1: of the books which shall be written, I will judge
- 11:07Speaker 1: the world every man according to their works, according to
- 11:11Speaker 1: that which is written. For behold, I shall speak unto
- 11:16Speaker 1: the Jews, and they shall write it. And I shall
- 11:18Speaker 1: also speak unto the Nephites, and they shall write it.
- 11:22Speaker 1: And I shall also speak unto the other tribes of
- 11:24Speaker 1: the House of Israel, which I have led away, and
- 11:27Speaker 1: they shall write it. And I shall also speak unto
- 11:30Speaker 1: all nations of the earth, and they shall write it.
- 11:33Speaker 1: And it shall come to pass that the Jews shall
- 11:36Speaker 1: have the words of the Nephites, and the Nephites have
- 11:39Speaker 1: the words of the Jews, and the Nephites, and the
- 11:42Speaker 1: Jews shall have the words of the lost tribes of Israel,
- 11:45Speaker 1: and the lost tribes of Israel shall have the words
- 11:48Speaker 1: of the Nephites and the Jews. And it shall come
- 11:51Speaker 1: to pass that my people, which are of the House
- 11:54Speaker 1: of Israel, shall be gathered home unto the lands of
- 11:57Speaker 1: their possessions, and my words shall all be gathered in one.
- 12:02Speaker 1: And I will show unto them that fight against my
- 12:04Speaker 1: word and against my people who are of the House
- 12:07Speaker 1: of Israel, that I am God, and that I covenanted
- 12:11Speaker 1: with Abraham, that I would remember his seed forever. Second
- 12:16Speaker 1: Nephi Chapter thirty. And now behold, my beloved brethren, I
- 12:22Speaker 1: would speak unto you, for I Nephi would not suffer
- 12:25Speaker 1: that ye should suppose that ye are more righteous than
- 12:27Speaker 1: the Gentiles shall be. For behold, except ye shall keep
- 12:31Speaker 1: the commandments of God, ye shall all likewise perish. And
- 12:36Speaker 1: because of the words which have been spoken, ye need
- 12:38Speaker 1: not suppose that the Gentiles are utterly destroyed. For behold,
- 12:43Speaker 1: I say unto you that as many of the Gentiles
- 12:46Speaker 1: as will repent are the covenant people of the Lord.
- 12:49Speaker 1: And as many of the Jews as will not repent,
- 12:52Speaker 1: shall be cast off. For the Lord covenanteth with none,
- 12:56Speaker 1: save it be with them that repent and believe in
- 12:58Speaker 1: His Son, who is the Holy One of Israel. And
- 13:03Speaker 1: now I would prophesy somewhat more concerning the Jews and
- 13:06Speaker 1: the Gentiles. For after the book which I have spoken
- 13:09Speaker 1: shall come forth and be written unto the Gentiles and
- 13:12Speaker 1: sealed up again unto the Lord. There shall be many
- 13:15Speaker 1: which shall believe the words which are written, and they
- 13:18Speaker 1: shall carry them forth unto the remnant of our seed.
- 13:21Speaker 1: And then shall the remnant of our seed, know concerning us,
- 13:25Speaker 1: how that we came out from Jerusalem, and that they
- 13:28Speaker 1: are descendants of the Jews. And the Gospel of Jesus
- 13:32Speaker 1: Christ shall be declared among them. Wherefore they shall be
- 13:35Speaker 1: restored unto the knowledge of their fathers, and also the
- 13:38Speaker 1: knowledge of Jesus Christ, which was had among their fathers.
- 13:43Speaker 1: And then shall they rejoice, for they shall know that
- 13:46Speaker 1: it is a blessing unto them from the hand of God.
- 13:49Speaker 1: And their scales of darkness shall begin to fall from
- 13:52Speaker 1: their eyes, and many generations shall not pass away among them,
- 13:56Speaker 1: save they shall be a pure and delightsome people. And
- 14:00Speaker 1: it shall come to pass that the Jews, which are
- 14:02Speaker 1: scattered also shall begin to believe in Christ, and they
- 14:06Speaker 1: shall begin to gather in upon the face of the land.
- 14:09Speaker 1: And as many as shall believe in Christ shall also
- 14:12Speaker 1: become a delightsome people. And it shall come to pass
- 14:15Speaker 1: that the Lord God shall commence his work among all nations, kindreds, tongues,
- 14:20Speaker 1: and people, to bring about the restoration of His people
- 14:24Speaker 1: upon the earth. And with righteousness shall the Lord God
- 14:27Speaker 1: judge the poor and reprove with equity for the meek
- 14:30Speaker 1: of the earth and he shall smite the earth with
- 14:33Speaker 1: the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of
- 14:36Speaker 1: his lips shall he slay the wicked. For the time
- 14:39Speaker 1: speedily cometh that the Lord God shall cause a great
- 14:42Speaker 1: division among the people, and the wicked will he destroy,
- 14:46Speaker 1: and he will spare his people. Yea, even if it
- 14:50Speaker 1: so be that he must destroy the wicked by fire.
- 14:54Speaker 1: And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and
- 14:57Speaker 1: faithfulness the girdle of his reigns. And then shall the
- 15:01Speaker 1: wolf dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie
- 15:04Speaker 1: down with the kid and the calf, and the young
- 15:07Speaker 1: lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall
- 15:11Speaker 1: lead them, and the cow and the bear shall feed
- 15:15Speaker 1: their young ones shall lie down together, and the lion
- 15:18Speaker 1: shall eat straw like the ox, and the suckling child
- 15:22Speaker 1: shall play on the whole of the asp, and the
- 15:24Speaker 1: wean child shall put his hand on the coquatrice's den.
- 15:28Speaker 1: They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain.
- 15:32Speaker 1: For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of
- 15:34Speaker 1: the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. Wherefore the
- 15:39Speaker 1: things of all nations shall be made known. Yea, all
- 15:43Speaker 1: things shall be made known unto the children of men.
- 15:46Speaker 1: There is nothing which is secret save it shall be revealed.
- 15:49Speaker 1: There is no work of darkness save it shall be
- 15:52Speaker 1: made manifest in the light. And there is nothing which
- 15:55Speaker 1: is sealed upon the earth, save it shall be loosed.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Where Therefore all things which have been revealed unto the
- 16:02Speaker 1: children of men shall at that day be revealed, And
- 16:06Speaker 1: Satan shall have power over the hearts of the children
- 16:09Speaker 1: of men no more for a long time. And now,
- 16:13Speaker 1: my beloved brethren, I make an end of my sayings
- 16:17Speaker 1: Second Nephi, Chapter thirty one. And now I, Nephi, make
- 16:22Speaker 1: an end of my prophesying unto you, my beloved brethren.
- 16:26Speaker 1: And I cannot write but a few things which I
- 16:28Speaker 1: know must surely come to pass. Neither can I write
- 16:32Speaker 1: but a few of the words of my brother Jacob.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Wherefore the things which I have written sufficeth me, save
- 16:38Speaker 1: it be a few words which I must speak concerning
- 16:41Speaker 1: the doctrine of Christ. Wherefore I shall speak unto you plainly,
- 16:46Speaker 1: according to the plainness of my prophesying. For my soul
- 16:50Speaker 1: delighteth in plainness. For after this manner doth the Lord
- 16:54Speaker 1: God work among the children of men. For the Lord
- 16:57Speaker 1: God giveth light unto the understanding, For he speaketh unto
- 17:01Speaker 1: men according to their language, unto their understanding. Wherefore I
- 17:06Speaker 1: would that ye should remember that I have spoken unto
- 17:09Speaker 1: you concerning that prophet which the Lord showed unto me,
- 17:13Speaker 1: that should baptize the Lamb of God, which should take
- 17:16Speaker 1: away the sins of the world. And now, if the
- 17:20Speaker 1: Lamb of God, he being holy, should have need to
- 17:23Speaker 1: be baptized by water to fulfill all righteousness, oh, then
- 17:28Speaker 1: how much more need have we, being unholy, to be baptized,
- 17:33Speaker 1: yea even by water? And now I would ask of you,
- 17:38Speaker 1: my beloved brethren, wherein the Lamb of God did fulfill
- 17:42Speaker 1: all righteousness in being baptized by water? Know ye not
- 17:46Speaker 1: that he was holy. But notwithstanding he being holy, he
- 17:50Speaker 1: showeth unto the children of men, that according to the flesh,
- 17:54Speaker 1: he humbleth himself before the Father, and witnesses unto the
- 17:58Speaker 1: Father that he would be obedient unto him in keeping
- 18:01Speaker 1: his commandments. Wherefore, after he was baptized with water, the
- 18:07Speaker 1: Holy Ghost descended upon him in the form of a dove.
- 18:11Speaker 1: And again it showeth unto the children of men the
- 18:13Speaker 1: straitness of the path and the narrowness of the gate
- 18:17Speaker 1: by which they should enter, he having set the example
- 18:20Speaker 1: before them, and he said, unto the children of men,
- 18:25Speaker 1: follow thou me. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, can we follow
- 18:29Speaker 1: Jesus say, we shall be willing to keep the commandments
- 18:32Speaker 1: of the Father. And the Father said, repent ye, repent ye,
- 18:37Speaker 1: and be baptized in the name of my beloved Son.
- 18:41Speaker 1: And also the voice of the Sun came unto me, saying,
- 18:45Speaker 1: he that is baptized in my name? To him, will
- 18:48Speaker 1: the Father give the Holy Ghost like unto me? Wherefore
- 18:52Speaker 1: follow me and do the things which ye have seen
- 18:55Speaker 1: me do. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I know that if
- 18:59Speaker 1: you ye shall follow the Son with full purpose of heart,
- 19:03Speaker 1: acting no hypocrisy and no deception before God, but with
- 19:07Speaker 1: real intent, repenting of your sins, witnessing unto the Father
- 19:12Speaker 1: that ye are willing to take upon you the name
- 19:14Speaker 1: of Christ by baptism, yea, by following your Lord and
- 19:19Speaker 1: your Savior down into the water according to his word. Behold,
- 19:24Speaker 1: then shall ye receive the Holy Ghost? Yea. Then come
- 19:28Speaker 1: with the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost.
- 19:31Speaker 1: And then can ye speak with the tongue of angels
- 19:34Speaker 1: and shout praises unto the Holy One of Israel. But behold,
- 19:39Speaker 1: my beloved brethren, Thus came the voice of the Son
- 19:42Speaker 1: unto me, saying, after ye have repented of your sins
- 19:47Speaker 1: and witnessed unto the Father that ye are willing to
- 19:50Speaker 1: keep my commandments by the baptism of water, and have
- 19:54Speaker 1: received the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost,
- 19:57Speaker 1: I can speak with a new tongue, yea, even with
- 20:00Speaker 1: the tongue of angels. And after this should deny me,
- 20:04Speaker 1: it would have been better for you that ye had
- 20:07Speaker 1: not known me. And I heard a voice from the Father, saying, yea,
- 20:12Speaker 1: the words of my beloved are true and faithful. He
- 20:16Speaker 1: that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.
- 20:21Speaker 1: And now, my beloved brethren, I know by this that
- 20:24Speaker 1: unless a man shall endure to the end in following
- 20:27Speaker 1: the example of the Son of the Living God, he
- 20:29Speaker 1: cannot be saved. Wherefore, do the things which I have
- 20:34Speaker 1: told you I have seen that your Lord and your
- 20:36Speaker 1: Redeemer should do. For for this cause have they been
- 20:40Speaker 1: shown unto me, that ye might know the gate by
- 20:43Speaker 1: which ye should enter, for the gate by which he
- 20:46Speaker 1: should enter is repentance and baptism by water, and then
- 20:50Speaker 1: cometh through remission of your sins by fire and by
- 20:52Speaker 1: the Holy Ghost. And then are ye in this strait
- 20:56Speaker 1: and narrow path which leads to eternal life. Yea ye
- 21:01Speaker 1: have entered in by the gate. Ye have done according
- 21:04Speaker 1: to the commandments of the Father and the Son. And
- 21:07Speaker 1: ye have received the Holy Ghost, which witnesses of the
- 21:10Speaker 1: Father and the Son, unto the fulfilling of the promise
- 21:13Speaker 1: which he hath made, that if ye entered in by
- 21:16Speaker 1: the way, ye should receive. And now, my beloved brethren,
- 21:21Speaker 1: after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path,
- 21:24Speaker 1: I would ask, if all is done, behold, I say
- 21:28Speaker 1: unto you nay, for ye have not come this far,
- 21:31Speaker 1: save it were by the word of Christ, with unshaken
- 21:34Speaker 1: faith in Him, relying wholly upon the merits of Him
- 21:37Speaker 1: who is mighty to save. Wherefore ye must press forward
- 21:43Speaker 1: with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of
- 21:47Speaker 1: hope and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore,
- 21:52Speaker 1: if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ,
- 21:56Speaker 1: and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father,
- 22:00Speaker 1: ye shall have eternal life and Now behold, my beloved brethren,
- 22:05Speaker 1: this is the way. And there is none other way
- 22:08Speaker 1: nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved
- 22:11Speaker 1: in the Kingdom of God. And now behold, this is
- 22:15Speaker 1: the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine
- 22:19Speaker 1: of the Father and of the Son and of the
- 22:22Speaker 1: Holy Ghost, which is one God without end Amen. Second Nephi,
- 22:30Speaker 1: Chapter thirty two. And now behold, my beloved brethren, I
- 22:35Speaker 1: suppose that ye ponder somewhat in your hearts concerning that
- 22:38Speaker 1: which ye should do after ye have entered in by
- 22:40Speaker 1: the way. But behold, why do you ponder these things
- 22:44Speaker 1: in your hearts? Do you not remember that I said
- 22:48Speaker 1: unto you that after ye have received the Holy Ghost,
- 22:51Speaker 1: ye could speak with the tongue of angels. And now
- 22:54Speaker 1: how could ye speak with the tongue of angels, save
- 22:57Speaker 1: it were by the Holy Ghost. Angel speak by the
- 23:00Speaker 1: power of the Holy Ghost. Wherefore they speak the words
- 23:04Speaker 1: of Christ. Wherefore I said unto you, feast upon the
- 23:08Speaker 1: words of Christ. For behold, the words of Christ will
- 23:12Speaker 1: tell you all things what ye should do. Wherefore, now
- 23:17Speaker 1: after I have spoken these words, if ye cannot understand them,
- 23:20Speaker 1: it will be because ye ask not, neither do ye not.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Wherefore ye are not brought into the light, but must
- 23:28Speaker 1: perish in the dark. For behold again I say unto
- 23:32Speaker 1: you that if ye will enter in by the way
- 23:34Speaker 1: and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you
- 23:37Speaker 1: all things which ye should do. Behold, this is the
- 23:41Speaker 1: doctrine of Christ, and there will be no more doctrine
- 23:44Speaker 1: given until after He shall manifest himself unto you in
- 23:47Speaker 1: the flesh. And when he shall manifest himself unto you
- 23:51Speaker 1: in the flesh, the things which He shall say unto you,
- 23:54Speaker 1: shall ye observe to do. And now I, Nephi, cannot
- 23:59Speaker 1: say more. The Spirit stoppeth mine utterance, and I am
- 24:03Speaker 1: left to mourn because of the unbelief and the wickedness,
- 24:06Speaker 1: and the ignorance, and the stiff nakedness of men. For
- 24:10Speaker 1: they will not search knowledge nor understand great knowledge when
- 24:14Speaker 1: it is given unto them in plainness, even as plain
- 24:17Speaker 1: as word can be. And now, my beloved brethren, I
- 24:21Speaker 1: perceive that ye ponder still in your hearts, and it
- 24:24Speaker 1: grieveth me that I must speak concerning this thing. For
- 24:28Speaker 1: if ye would hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a
- 24:31Speaker 1: man to pray, ye would know that ye must pray
- 24:35Speaker 1: for the evil spirit. Teacheth not a man to pray,
- 24:38Speaker 1: but teacheth him that he must not pray. But behold,
- 24:42Speaker 1: I say unto you that ye must pray always, and
- 24:46Speaker 1: not faint, that ye must not perform anything unto the Lord.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Save in the first place, ye shall pray unto the
- 24:52Speaker 1: Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate
- 24:55Speaker 1: thy performance unto Thee, that thy performance may be for
- 24:58Speaker 1: the welfare of thy soul. Second Nephi, Chapter thirty three.
- 25:06Speaker 1: And now I, Nephi, cannot write all the things which
- 25:09Speaker 1: were taught among my people. Neither am I mighty in writing,
- 25:13Speaker 1: like Nto speaking. For when a man speaketh by the
- 25:16Speaker 1: power of the Holy Ghost, the power of the Holy
- 25:19Speaker 1: Ghost carrieth it unto the hearts of the children of men.
- 25:22Speaker 1: But behold, there are many that harden their hearts against
- 25:25Speaker 1: the Holy Spirit, that it hath no place in them.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Wherefore they cast many things away which are written, and
- 25:32Speaker 1: esteem them as things of naught. But I, Nephi, have
- 25:37Speaker 1: written what I have written, and I esteem it as
- 25:40Speaker 1: of great worth, and especially unto my people. For I
- 25:44Speaker 1: pray continually for them by day, and mine eyes water
- 25:48Speaker 1: my pillow by night because of them. And I cry
- 25:52Speaker 1: unto my God and faith, and I know that he
- 25:54Speaker 1: will hear my cry. And I know that the Lord
- 25:58Speaker 1: God will consecrate my prayers for the gain of my people.
- 26:01Speaker 1: And the words which I have written in weakness will
- 26:04Speaker 1: be made strong unto them. For it persuadeth them to
- 26:07Speaker 1: do good. It maketh known unto them of their fathers.
- 26:11Speaker 1: And it speaketh of Jesus and persuadeth them to believe
- 26:14Speaker 1: in Him and to endure to the end, which is
- 26:17Speaker 1: life eternal. And it speaketh harshly against sin, according to
- 26:22Speaker 1: the plainness of the truth. Wherefore no man will be
- 26:25Speaker 1: angry at the words which I have written, save he
- 26:28Speaker 1: shall be of the spirit of the devil. I glory
- 26:31Speaker 1: in plainness, I glory in truth. I glory in my Jesus,
- 26:37Speaker 1: for he hath redeemed my soul from Hell. I have
- 26:40Speaker 1: charity for my people and great faith in Christ, that
- 26:44Speaker 1: I shall meet many souls spotless at His judgment. Seat.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I have charity for the jew I say Jew, because
- 26:52Speaker 1: I mean them from whence I came. I also have
- 26:55Speaker 1: charity for the Gentiles, but behold, for none of these
- 26:59Speaker 1: can I hope except they shall be reconciled unto Christ
- 27:03Speaker 1: and enter into the narrow gate and walk in the
- 27:06Speaker 1: straight path which leads to life, and continue in the
- 27:09Speaker 1: path until the end of the day of Probation. And now,
- 27:13Speaker 1: my beloved brethren, and also jew and all ye ends
- 27:17Speaker 1: of the earth, hearken unto these words and believe in Christ.
- 27:21Speaker 1: And if ye believe not in these words, believe in Christ.
- 27:26Speaker 1: And if ye shall believe in Christ, ye will believe
- 27:28Speaker 1: in these words. For they are the words of Christ,
- 27:32Speaker 1: and He hath given them unto me. And they shall
- 27:35Speaker 1: teach all men that they should do good. And if
- 27:38Speaker 1: they are not the words of Christ, judge ye, for
- 27:42Speaker 1: Christ will show unto you with power and great glory
- 27:45Speaker 1: that they are His words at the last day, and
- 27:49Speaker 1: you and I shall stand face to face before His
- 27:51Speaker 1: bar and ye shall know that I have been commanded
- 27:55Speaker 1: of Him to write these things, notwithstanding my weakness. And
- 28:00Speaker 1: I pray the Father in the name of Christ, that
- 28:03Speaker 1: many of us, if not all, may be saved in
- 28:06Speaker 1: His kingdom at that great and last day. And now,
- 28:10Speaker 1: my beloved brethren, all those who are of the House
- 28:13Speaker 1: of Israel and all ye ends of the earth. I
- 28:16Speaker 1: speak unto you as the voice of one crying from
- 28:19Speaker 1: the dust, farewell until that great day shall come. And
- 28:24Speaker 1: you that will not partake of the goodness of God
- 28:26Speaker 1: and respect the words of the Jews, and also my
- 28:29Speaker 1: words and the words which shall proceed forth out of
- 28:33Speaker 1: the mouth of the Lamb of God. Behold, I bid
- 28:36Speaker 1: you an everlasting farewell, for these words shall condemn you
- 28:40Speaker 1: at the last day, for what I seal on earth
- 28:44Speaker 1: shall be brought against you at the judgment bar For
- 28:47Speaker 1: thus hath the Lord commanded me, and I must obey.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Amen and of Second Nephi, chapters twenty eight through thirty three,
