- 0:01Speaker 1: Jerry Katy and Josh Mix one hundred.
- 0:04Speaker 2: All right, so there's a big story going around right now.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It's definitely popping on the socials where this dad had
- 0:09Speaker 2: to take his young daughters in to wash their hands.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Staying away here, Okay, So it involves Oklahoma father Tyler
- 0:16Speaker 3: and man he got a debate going after he recorded
- 0:21Speaker 3: a confrontation at an Alabama gas station. So he brought
- 0:24Speaker 3: his two young daughters into the women's restroom when he
- 0:27Speaker 3: was on this road trip, right and he said he
- 0:31Speaker 3: knocked and announced his presence beforehand to ensure the women's
- 0:35Speaker 3: restroom was empty. I want to preface it with that
- 0:38Speaker 3: he chose the women's room over the men's restroom because
- 0:41Speaker 3: he felt the men's facility, often containing open urinals and
- 0:45Speaker 3: occupied by adult men, was not a safer appropriate environment
- 0:48Speaker 3: for his young daughters. So while he was in there
- 0:51Speaker 3: helping his daughters wash their hands, someone, an older guy,
- 0:56Speaker 3: aggressively confronted him. And there's video of this. You can
- 0:59Speaker 3: see this guy just he is so mad about it.
- 1:02Speaker 3: He's shouting at him, demanding they leave, arguing that his
- 1:05Speaker 3: wife and ill mother in law needed to use the restroom,
- 1:07Speaker 3: but felt uncomfortable with Tyler in there with the man
- 1:10Speaker 3: inside the restroom. So this guy who was yelling at
- 1:13Speaker 3: Tyler called nine one one, and part of the video
- 1:18Speaker 3: is him telling the.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Police there's a guy in the bathroom. He's got his
- 1:21Speaker 1: girls in here.
- 1:23Speaker 3: But here's the thing, is like they're trying to de
- 1:26Speaker 3: escalate the situation. The cops arrive and they're like, you know,
- 1:29Speaker 3: he has not broken any laws. This isn't a police manager.
- 1:32Speaker 3: But the whole thing again went viral. Yeah, matter, but
- 1:37Speaker 3: the whole thing went viral and was put up on
- 1:39Speaker 3: the internet, and now folks are debating about it because
- 1:42Speaker 3: it is very much like I one hundred percent think
- 1:45Speaker 3: he's in the right. If a man wants to bring
- 1:48Speaker 3: his two young girls into the women's restroom, as long
- 1:52Speaker 3: as he made sure and checked it beforehand, made sure
- 1:55Speaker 3: it was empty, announced his presence, it's one hundred percent okay.
- 1:59Speaker 1: He's trying to.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Make his daughters feel comfortable. So that's where I'm one
- 2:02Speaker 3: hundred percent okay with it. But you and Josh have
- 2:05Speaker 3: both said you don't.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Think it's okay. Well no, no, no, I don't know,
- 2:10Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 2:11Speaker 3: I don't both said that you think it's okay for
- 2:15Speaker 3: him to bring the girls into the men's bathroom, and
- 2:17Speaker 3: I think that part is not I understand why he wants.
- 2:20Speaker 1: To bring them into the women's insteads Listen, here's the thing.
- 2:23Speaker 1: So then this.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Is where the argument just gets going because people have
- 2:27Speaker 3: a side on this.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I guess I coming at it because I've I have kids,
- 2:30Speaker 2: I have a daughter, you know, I think I've had
- 2:33Speaker 2: to do this before, and I would just go into
- 2:36Speaker 2: the men's room and quickly wash hands and leave.
- 2:42Speaker 3: I think they're washing their hands in the video, but
- 2:44Speaker 3: I think they went to the bathroom.
- 2:46Speaker 1: I think the girls use the rest.
- 2:47Speaker 4: A different thing.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Then, then, yes, I would I would prefer the women's bathroom.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Yes, then the men's in that circumstance.
- 2:55Speaker 3: And would you go in there with your young girl
- 2:57Speaker 3: to make sure she was okay?
- 2:59Speaker 2: I would probably he popped my head in and just
- 3:01Speaker 2: see if anybody was in there, and if nobody was
- 3:03Speaker 2: in there, I'd let him go if they're capable, probably
- 3:06Speaker 2: by themselves, if nobody was in there, okay, and just
- 3:10Speaker 2: kind of stand guard at the door maybe and think
- 3:12Speaker 2: maybe keep popping my head in and saying, hey, okay,
- 3:15Speaker 2: everything good. I would just kind of monitor, probably from outside.
- 3:19Speaker 4: I don't know if i'd go fully in.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Well, in the.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Video you can see Tyler. It is a restop, a
- 3:25Speaker 3: gas station. It's at a gas station, so it's at
- 3:27Speaker 3: the bathroom and the gas station. But in the video
- 3:30Speaker 3: you can see Tyler is hoisting his young daughter up
- 3:33Speaker 3: to the sink so she can wash. They need help,
- 3:35Speaker 3: so he's in the bathroom with them. And that is
- 3:38Speaker 3: apparently the problem that this older gentleman has and who's
- 3:42Speaker 3: causing this.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Biggest, an old crotchey man that just wants to get
- 3:45Speaker 2: another people's business.
- 3:46Speaker 5: Yes, it is shut.
- 3:48Speaker 1: There are people taking both sides of this.
- 3:50Speaker 3: There are people who are defending the man's action, saying
- 3:53Speaker 3: he had every right to be upset, and then there
- 3:55Speaker 3: are people defending Tyler and saying he's just being a
- 3:58Speaker 3: girl dad trying to take care of his kid.
- 4:00Speaker 4: They just needed to wash their hands and go to
- 4:01Speaker 4: the bathroom.
- 4:02Speaker 6: Leave.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Now, I will say it was funny off.
- 4:04Speaker 2: The air because we briefly talked about this and we're like,
- 4:06Speaker 2: hold on, let's talk about it more.
- 4:07Speaker 4: On the air. Katie was extremely worried that if the
- 4:10Speaker 4: girls went into the men's restroom, they might see ppding, yeah,
- 4:16Speaker 4: because the like and.
- 4:17Speaker 1: We're not familiar with all, I imagine.
- 4:20Speaker 4: And you guys, you guys, we're just walking around, you know.
- 4:25Speaker 2: And Joshua had to explain, it's like, you're you don't,
- 4:28Speaker 2: you're not seeing pp ding ding.
- 4:30Speaker 4: You're no, you don't know.
- 4:32Speaker 2: You're standing at the urinal and even if there's no divider,
- 4:34Speaker 2: you're staring ahead, You're not, you don't.
- 4:37Speaker 4: And again, and mostly there's a lot of it's just divider.
- 4:39Speaker 5: Ninety nine percent of the time, there are dividers in
- 4:41Speaker 5: there too. I have been in men's restrooms my entire life,
- 4:44Speaker 5: and I've never seen one like genuinely I happen.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I've seen men come in with their kids and their
- 4:49Speaker 2: daughters and just wash hands and stuff, and I've never
- 4:51Speaker 2: thought anything about it. And if they're that young, they're
- 4:53Speaker 2: not going to think twice about what they're seeing or
- 4:55Speaker 2: what's going on. Those girls, No, they're not, though they
- 4:58Speaker 2: are girls, they're not going to think twice about They're
- 5:00Speaker 2: not going to.
- 5:00Speaker 3: But in my mind, I'm like, as a young person,
- 5:04Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sure you guys have had the talk
- 5:06Speaker 3: with your father's when you're in your the urinal. You
- 5:08Speaker 3: look straight, you don't look down, you don't know, you
- 5:11Speaker 3: don't talk like. You've probably had that conversation, so you
- 5:13Speaker 3: know what.
- 5:14Speaker 1: That etiquette is so common sense, so you've done it
- 5:18Speaker 1: a million times.
- 5:18Speaker 3: But I'm sure there was a moment where it was
- 5:20Speaker 3: curious for you too, and you looked, You're.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Like, listen, it only happened once here where a guy
- 5:25Speaker 2: looked he peaked.
- 5:26Speaker 4: I'm not even joking about that.
- 5:28Speaker 2: And he was a really tall guy and we were
- 5:30Speaker 2: standing at the urinals and he peeked over and I was.
- 5:33Speaker 4: Like, did you just peek?
- 5:34Speaker 3: I was like, you peek's peak is like for a
- 5:37Speaker 3: woman like I had no idea.
- 5:39Speaker 1: I thought you guys just peaked all the time.
- 5:41Speaker 2: You guys have no peaking and walked around with it,
- 5:44Speaker 2: you know, out and about and getting fresh air.
- 5:46Speaker 5: Katie. If the girls did need to use the restroom
- 5:50Speaker 5: and not just wash their hands, there are actual stalls
- 5:53Speaker 5: in there, you know, like where they.
- 5:55Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I just think if you look at it, if you
- 5:58Speaker 3: look at it from the remiss of how this all
- 6:01Speaker 3: got started, and that was a young father thought it
- 6:04Speaker 3: was okay to go into the women's restroom with his
- 6:07Speaker 3: young daughters to help them out.
- 6:09Speaker 4: And I do think it's nobody in there.
- 6:11Speaker 1: So that's the question, do you think it's okay for.
- 6:15Speaker 3: A guy I think bring his daughters into the women's bathroom?
- 6:19Speaker 4: I one, Now, if.
- 6:21Speaker 2: You're in there, nobody's in there, and you're standing there
- 6:23Speaker 2: waiting and helping, and then women come in.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Then what I do say, I'm here helping. We will
- 6:27Speaker 3: be out in a second, please let me finish up again.
- 6:31Speaker 3: I think women across the board will be like, yes,
- 6:34Speaker 3: we are okay with you bringing your daughter to the restroom.
- 6:37Speaker 1: So that's where I.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Did, just think a normal human with some common sense
- 6:42Speaker 2: and courtesy, you'll be like, hey, I get it, dad,
- 6:44Speaker 2: you know, yes, kudos to you, you know, helping these
- 6:46Speaker 2: girls out. We'll wait just a second exactly.
- 6:49Speaker 3: And so that's kind of where the question was phrased,
- 6:52Speaker 3: is where do you think it's okay should Tyler have
- 6:54Speaker 3: brought his young daughters into the men's restroom?
- 6:57Speaker 5: Well, especially if one was in there either, I mean,
- 6:59Speaker 5: if he if you peep your head in and there's
- 7:01Speaker 5: no one in the men's restroom, just bring your young
- 7:03Speaker 5: daughters in, wash your hands, do whatever. Because I'm kind
- 7:05Speaker 5: of on chair side, Like, yeah, I would have probably
- 7:08Speaker 5: just peaked my head because I have sisters and I
- 7:09Speaker 5: remember when we were very young, my dad would take
- 7:12Speaker 5: them in, you know, if it was with my dad,
- 7:14Speaker 5: or I would go to the women's restroom with my mom,
- 7:16Speaker 5: like when I was very young. And again, like he said,
- 7:18Speaker 5: it never occurred to me that it was weird or anything.
- 7:20Speaker 5: I was just with my parent using the restroom. So
- 7:23Speaker 5: I think that's what you say.
- 7:24Speaker 4: He's sitting down all the time. I didn't even know
- 7:27Speaker 4: you could stand up of peaking with Josh because he's extended.
- 7:31Speaker 5: I'm in the stall.
- 7:32Speaker 4: We got Patty, Emily and VICKI.
- 7:34Speaker 2: We'll try to quickly work through these three calls. Hi Patty, Hi,
- 7:38Speaker 2: Hey you what are your thoughts about this?
- 7:40Speaker 7: Well?
- 7:41Speaker 8: I think either they I think it was writing to do.
- 7:45Speaker 8: You know, these kids are little, they don't know what's
- 7:47Speaker 8: going on, and there's a lot of strange people out there,
- 7:51Speaker 8: and we have to protect them. You are there their
- 7:54Speaker 8: protector as a parent. No matter what you have to do,
- 7:57Speaker 8: you do what you need to do. This is what
- 8:00Speaker 8: got to wake up parents living in the fourteen hundred. God, okay,
- 8:05Speaker 8: and I'm living if anything, get yourself. You know, if
- 8:10Speaker 8: they complain, and so much complain, then they need to
- 8:13Speaker 8: have more family friendly bathrooms.
- 8:16Speaker 4: They do.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Those family changing rooms are just game changers. You ever
- 8:23Speaker 2: snuck into one by yourself phone with a bread out,
- 8:27Speaker 2: you put my hands on the walls, or you just
- 8:29Speaker 2: spread out? Thank you, Patty very wise?
- 8:31Speaker 4: Hi, Emili, Hi, hey girl? All right? What do you
- 8:35Speaker 4: thought your thoughts on this hand washing story?
- 8:38Speaker 5: So?
- 8:38Speaker 7: I remember when I was around six or seven, I
- 8:41Speaker 7: remember my dad taking me into a men's restroom and
- 8:45Speaker 7: it scarred me for years. I like, it freaked me out.
- 8:48Speaker 7: I was so nervous. There are so many men, I
- 8:51Speaker 7: thought way too much, and I'll never forget it. I
- 8:54Speaker 7: would never ever let my like my daughters go into
- 8:58Speaker 7: the men's trosture at this point.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Okay, you were six and you remember that.
- 9:02Speaker 4: Seven? Yeah, what was good keeping? Radio friendly? But what
- 9:08Speaker 4: the hell was going on in that bathroom? What what
- 9:10Speaker 4: were you seeing? I mean, I just I'm not familiar
- 9:13Speaker 4: with this. I've been into a lot of men's rooms,
- 9:15Speaker 4: you know, just.
- 9:16Speaker 7: Very very crowded. There was probably like it was one
- 9:19Speaker 7: of those trough like giant giant restrooms, and I just
- 9:24Speaker 7: remember seeing men everywhere and I'm little and I have
- 9:28Speaker 7: no idea what's happening, and it was very aggressive.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Yeah, and I don't like that.
- 9:32Speaker 2: If I were to go in there with my daughter
- 9:33Speaker 2: and there was that many dudes in there, I'd be like, no,
- 9:35Speaker 2: we're going to find another option.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:37Speaker 4: I don't like that.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, all right, Emily, So you're against it
- 9:42Speaker 2: or wait, what are your So you're okay with this
- 9:46Speaker 2: dad going into the women's Yeah.
- 9:48Speaker 7: Absolutely. If I'm in the women's restroom and I see
- 9:51Speaker 7: a dad with his daughters, I'm like.
- 9:52Speaker 8: Good on you.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, because it's about keeping the kids comfortable, right.
- 9:57Speaker 3: I think that's the best part of what this dad
- 9:59Speaker 3: did is he knew that he would probably get some
- 10:02Speaker 3: flack or at least expected it. But I mean he
- 10:05Speaker 3: was trying to help his daughters out in this moment, which,
- 10:07Speaker 3: as we can see from Emily, I'm glad he did it.
- 10:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Yeah, Emily, thank you so much for the call. Really
- 10:12Speaker 2: appreciate you. Let's wrap things up with Vicky, Hi, viky Hi,
- 10:16Speaker 2: y'all fired.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Up right now?
- 10:17Speaker 6: VICKI no, I think that old guy needs to chill.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Yeah, don't joke.
- 10:22Speaker 2: That's the bottom line of this story, right, like buzz off, dude,
- 10:26Speaker 2: that guy's he needs a good old fashioned throat punch.
- 10:28Speaker 4: I think as well.
- 10:29Speaker 6: Yeah, when I tested it, I said, you know, I
- 10:32Speaker 6: know some of the colleges now the dorms are completely
- 10:35Speaker 6: co ed. Oh like yeah, it's all boy girl it
- 10:38Speaker 6: doesn't matter. And like the shower and the stalls are
- 10:41Speaker 6: all floor to ceiling covered so you don't see anything.
- 10:44Speaker 6: The sink area is a co ed and they keeps
- 10:46Speaker 6: are fine with it. The parents thought, you know, it's
- 10:48Speaker 6: a little whatever. But I don't want to name the
- 10:50Speaker 6: schools because I don't want anything that's college for the
- 10:58Speaker 6: little girls, for the little old I think it's better
- 11:01Speaker 6: that the dad takes hurt them into the women's room versus.
- 11:06Speaker 2: That's now, let me ask you, Vicky, Uh, you walk in,
- 11:10Speaker 2: there's this dad in there washing the hands of the girls.
- 11:13Speaker 4: What do you say?
- 11:14Speaker 5: What do you do?
- 11:15Speaker 6: I would say, that's fine. I'm a mom, and I'm like, yeah,
- 11:18Speaker 6: I get it, you know, go go for it, especially
- 11:20Speaker 6: especially if the rest of it was empty. When he
- 11:22Speaker 6: went in. It was like, yeah, he's going to do
- 11:24Speaker 6: his thing with the kids. He's not doing anything. He's
- 11:26Speaker 6: just washing his kid's hand.
- 11:27Speaker 7: He's a dad.
- 11:29Speaker 6: Do you do at home?
- 11:30Speaker 7: You know what I mean?
- 11:30Speaker 6: When do you do at home? You have co ed
- 11:32Speaker 6: bathrooms at home?
- 11:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah, well I thought for sure you'd say you'd
- 11:36Speaker 2: walk in and just go to a stall and just
- 11:38Speaker 2: tear it up.
- 11:38Speaker 4: I thought that's what you were going to say.
- 11:42Speaker 6: If I still just go and do my business, yeah,
- 11:44Speaker 6: if I have to go to SAT.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Yeah, that'll teach you theim get in there and tear
- 11:47Speaker 4: it up.
- 11:48Speaker 6: Thank you for there.
- 11:55Speaker 4: It's fine.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I'm glad that you're a good dude. Girls, girls just
