Step Seven in the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions says that humility is not just a nice spiritual idea—it is necessary to survival. It tells us plainly that without some degree of humility, no alcoholic can stay sober at all.
Today we’re talking about what humility really means in recovery. Not humiliation. Not thinking less of ourselves. But becoming teachable, letting go of self-reliance, being able to admit when we are wrong, and becoming willing to seek God’s will instead of constantly trying to run everything ourselves.
