- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome back to Artists on Artists on Artists and Artists
- 0:06Speaker 1: this week on the show, they are the lifeblood of
- 0:10Speaker 1: the comedy community. They're beloved, they are thrilling, they're exciting.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Everyone loves to be at their shows and there's nothing
- 0:17Speaker 1: quite like them. This week on the show, it's improvisers.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Improvisation is when people are making things up on the spot. Hey,
- 0:27Speaker 2: did you guys write that before?
- 0:29Speaker 3: No, they didn't, So throw out your scripts and let's
- 0:34Speaker 3: listen in.
- 0:39Speaker 4: It's really fun.
- 0:41Speaker 5: To chat with you guys. Yeah, you guys. Do you guys,
- 0:43Speaker 5: Do you guys have podcasts on your own?
- 0:45Speaker 4: Oh? Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Yeah. I have a podcast where I make my guests
- 0:53Speaker 3: watch a full episode of ghost Hunters and then we
- 0:57Speaker 3: talk about that episode of ghost Hunt a.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Quick improv set after.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Yeah, we do a quick improv set based on the
- 1:04Speaker 3: ghost Hunter's episode we saw.
- 1:05Speaker 4: And then yeah, that's so funny, and then.
- 1:08Speaker 3: We do a herald after. So it's kind of like
- 1:11Speaker 3: episodes are like two.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Hours, which is the perfect podcast.
- 1:16Speaker 3: It's super fun and we're growing and I can tell,
- 1:18Speaker 3: like the numbers are we're growing.
- 1:20Speaker 6: That's amazing. Yeah, what's your podcast.
- 1:24Speaker 4: So my podcast is actually really really fun.
- 1:26Speaker 7: I uh bring in the same four guys and we
- 1:30Speaker 7: just go for it for about like I don't know,
- 1:32Speaker 7: two to three hours, just kind of going for it.
- 1:34Speaker 7: What do you mean you go for We just like improvised,
- 1:37Speaker 7: just NonStop.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Can you imagine he's like going.
- 1:44Speaker 1: For grosses imagine groceries and all of a sudden, like
- 1:47Speaker 1: the CIA comes and tries.
- 1:48Speaker 7: To like arrest him, like like, oh, you're arrested, mister,
- 1:52Speaker 7: and I'm like, uh no, I'm just grabbing watermelon.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Literally reminds me exactly of a podcast idea that I've
- 1:57Speaker 2: been dying to do.
- 1:58Speaker 8: What is it?
- 1:58Speaker 6: And it's four people all Gordon ramsay.
- 2:01Speaker 5: That is so.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Well.
- 2:03Speaker 7: Actually, no, that's really funny because I have an improv
- 2:06Speaker 7: team named for Gordon's and it's four guys named Gordon
- 2:08Speaker 7: and we just go to town on stage like it's
- 2:11Speaker 7: you go to town.
- 2:13Speaker 6: You live in the country and you go visit the town.
- 2:15Speaker 3: No, like like, can you imagine you're the mayor.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I saw you guys when you guys, when you Guys
- 2:22Speaker 1: had that show at the l Salvadorian Mexican fusion restaurant.
- 2:26Speaker 4: El Salvador Infusion Mexican Restaurant.
- 2:28Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Yeah, and it was you guys saw that show. Yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 5: and you guys did that.
- 2:32Speaker 1: You did uh like like close call car accident improv
- 2:37Speaker 1: where you had someone every you had every people like
- 2:40Speaker 1: come up and tell monologues about when they were almost
- 2:42Speaker 1: in a car accident and then and then you did
- 2:44Speaker 1: in pro based on those stories.
- 2:46Speaker 7: Yeah, it's called for Gordon's car crash stories at Sauces.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 4: So fun, super fun.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Yeah, we had some way to get the audience.
- 2:54Speaker 4: It's so fun.
- 2:54Speaker 5: When you went into the kitchen during your set.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Oh you remember that I lost my mind?
- 2:59Speaker 5: That killed absolutely no.
- 3:00Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, I mean like with improv, it's so hard
- 3:02Speaker 7: to like translate. But like when you it was really funny.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Because imagine like you go into the kitchen and like
- 3:07Speaker 1: they're cooking like something really special and you like walk
- 3:10Speaker 1: in the middle of it.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Y what somebody's names.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Let's go round, Let's go round around, Let's go.
- 3:18Speaker 5: Around, Let's go around.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I will down round around on the school bus. I'm
- 3:24Speaker 3: the captain. Okay, sorry, no guys, I'm just playing. I'm
- 3:29Speaker 3: Leila and I've been doing improv for I've been in
- 3:35Speaker 3: like well I've been doing improv for like ten years
- 3:37Speaker 3: because I did in high school, but I've been in
- 3:39Speaker 3: the scene for like probably four or five years. Whoa, Yeah,
- 3:45Speaker 3: and I trained at a little bit of UCB, a
- 3:48Speaker 3: little bit of this sleep away camp in Delaware called
- 3:52Speaker 3: Make Them Ups.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Oh, I've heard of Make Them Ups. That's so cool
- 3:55Speaker 4: that you went there.
- 3:56Speaker 5: Always wanted to go to a sleep away improv camp.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Yeah, and like they only like you have to audition
- 4:01Speaker 3: to get.
- 4:01Speaker 5: In a boarding school.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I was one of like like they only pick
- 4:06Speaker 3: like forty sixteen year olds to audition to get in,
- 4:09Speaker 3: and so it was like, yeah, it's actually like kind
- 4:11Speaker 3: of hard to get in.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I've heard like because like forty five people are auditioning, right.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yeah, And so like some tough choices have to be made.
- 4:17Speaker 6: It also costs so much money, huh Yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you can get a scholarship of ten
- 4:22Speaker 3: percent off if you're really good.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Did you believe like the massive amounts of allegations that
- 4:29Speaker 1: came out.
- 4:29Speaker 6: About it, there was a massive shut down.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Right, like because there were like forty sixteen year olds
- 4:34Speaker 1: in an improbably like a massive problem, right, Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Yeah, it's tough. The allegations are definitely tough, but it's
- 4:41Speaker 3: like I'm exhausted at this point. There's allegations everywhere.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like it's not about the The allegations
- 4:48Speaker 2: themselves aren't that big of a deal.
- 4:49Speaker 6: It's just that there's so many.
- 4:51Speaker 3: It's like the volume. Yeah, I get why that's a problem,
- 4:53Speaker 3: but like, nonetheless, I mean, it was still like a
- 4:57Speaker 3: I don't know, it taught me kind of everything. I know.
- 4:59Speaker 3: I'm like, I can't It wasn't all bad for me.
- 5:01Speaker 3: I understand. I feel really bad for those girls, but
- 5:04Speaker 3: I I had a good time.
- 5:11Speaker 4: What's your name?
- 5:13Speaker 8: What up?
- 5:14Speaker 6: Guys?
- 5:15Speaker 2: My name's Cameron and my Instagram bio is Crazy Cameron.
- 5:20Speaker 2: So people call me crazy. I what can I say?
- 5:24Speaker 2: I Uh, I only do short form because I just
- 5:28Speaker 2: am silly.
- 5:29Speaker 4: I am a silly guy.
- 5:31Speaker 5: At like Comedy Sports.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Uh yeah, So I started at Comedy Sports and now
- 5:34Speaker 2: I'm doing short form at Olive Garden.
- 5:36Speaker 6: It's this new program they're doing.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I heard about that. They have a stage.
- 5:41Speaker 8: And call right.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's called meat Palls and with a Z. I
- 5:47Speaker 2: live in at Water and I have a hot girlfriend.
- 5:49Speaker 3: How'd you get into that? Like? Are the auditions like
- 5:53Speaker 3: rolling or is it?
- 5:54Speaker 6: I asked, Oh, I really believe in asking for things.
- 6:01Speaker 3: You just asked and they just like let you on.
- 6:04Speaker 2: So I had a friend that went to my all
- 6:08Speaker 2: boys school with me and I and he started he
- 6:13Speaker 2: started a short form team at Magiano's at the Grove.
- 6:18Speaker 2: But it was just like a one off. And believe
- 6:21Speaker 2: it or not, the guy at Olive Garden was there
- 6:23Speaker 2: and he was like, this is such a good idea. Meanwhile,
- 6:26Speaker 2: I am at a young Hollywood party with my hot girlfriend.
- 6:29Speaker 2: I meet that Olive Garden guy and I pitch him
- 6:32Speaker 2: my team and he goes.
- 6:33Speaker 6: What about meatballs? And I go, what about meatballs with
- 6:35Speaker 6: a Z?
- 6:36Speaker 2: And ever since we just do short form, it really
- 6:38Speaker 2: brings in a lot of customers because I just I
- 6:42Speaker 2: think short form is so silly.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Yeah, and we should probably for the listeners.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Oh, I can't believe we're.
- 6:48Speaker 3: The experts on this. Blowing my mind right now.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Crazy.
- 6:52Speaker 3: A short form improv is basically it's it's a simpler
- 6:58Speaker 3: form of improv. It's based on predetermined games, so you
- 7:03Speaker 3: basically don't even have to do anything when you improvise.
- 7:06Speaker 3: It basically takes like no skill because it's already built
- 7:09Speaker 3: in for you.
- 7:10Speaker 6: Have you heard of whose lines it?
- 7:12Speaker 5: Anyway?
- 7:12Speaker 3: Because that's what it's like, right, It's kind of like that, Yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 3: I love whose.
- 7:17Speaker 6: Lines it anyway?
- 7:18Speaker 7: Yeah, where like long form is actually like a lot
- 7:21Speaker 7: more difficult, I would say, And.
- 7:23Speaker 3: It's like it's more difficult to watch, but that's because
- 7:27Speaker 3: it's so much more impressive to do when you do
- 7:30Speaker 3: it right.
- 7:31Speaker 1: It's like red wine versus like a spritzer of red wine.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Like it's like yeah, like without the bubbles, like there's
- 7:38Speaker 1: no you know what I mean, But.
- 7:39Speaker 6: It's like, yeah, that's exactly that.
- 7:42Speaker 5: That's how I feel.
- 7:43Speaker 3: That's just how I feel. No offense though, Like no, no.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I no, I mean there's a lot of different forms
- 7:50Speaker 2: because then have we talked about long form?
- 7:51Speaker 6: Have we explained it?
- 7:52Speaker 4: We just I just did.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Yeah, So long form improv is like there's just so
- 7:55Speaker 1: many less rules in long form than short forms.
- 7:58Speaker 6: I actually don't agree.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Well, no, like let me show you like an example,
- 8:02Speaker 1: because like the short form is like, oh, you have to.
- 8:05Speaker 5: Do this in this scene, you can't do other things, and.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Then in long form it's like no, we just do
- 8:09Speaker 1: a simple opening and then we do an exact scene,
- 8:12Speaker 1: three scenes off that opening, and then we do a
- 8:14Speaker 1: group game, and then we do second scenes off that opening,
- 8:15Speaker 1: and then we do another group game.
- 8:16Speaker 5: It's just more free.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Yeah, oh I'm good.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Sorry. I think it looked like I was like farting
- 8:23Speaker 3: for a second or that was I think I just
- 8:27Speaker 3: had like, sorry, I this is my Instagram bio, but
- 8:30Speaker 3: it says like resting fart face.
- 8:32Speaker 6: Oh my god, I see it.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Sometimes it kind of looks like I'm about to say something,
- 8:36Speaker 3: but I'm actually not. So that's where that story came from.
- 8:40Speaker 3: My friends like just give me shit all the time
- 8:42Speaker 3: because I have resting fart face.
- 8:44Speaker 6: I love one give each other ship. It's like the
- 8:46Speaker 6: best kind of friends.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I am actually doing a web series based on that,
- 8:50Speaker 3: so I could send you the script if you guys want.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I actually need extras for a party scene this Saturday,
- 8:58Speaker 3: if anyone's interested.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Crazy, where are you shooting?
- 9:03Speaker 3: We're shooting in Anaheim. But it's really short, like six hours.
- 9:08Speaker 6: Ye's super short.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Yeah, it's super short. I'm yeah.
- 9:11Speaker 6: What's your name?
- 9:11Speaker 3: I'd be amazing. Sorry, go ahead, no.
- 9:13Speaker 5: Worries, guys. My name is Dusty. I am a comedian.
- 9:19Speaker 5: I guess.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Third.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Second, I'm a husband, and then first I'm a lawyer,
- 9:23Speaker 1: So I do all scorts of different kinds of things,
- 9:25Speaker 1: and I have a lot of fun with like my life.
- 9:27Speaker 1: But like for me, improv is like the most incredible
- 9:33Speaker 1: thing in the world. Like if Willy Wonka were to exist,
- 9:36Speaker 1: he wouldn't open a Candy Factor, he'd open a comedy
- 9:39Speaker 1: theater because some of the stuff we get to do
- 9:41Speaker 1: is so fun and so crazy, and it's just like
- 9:46Speaker 1: so fun because I don't get I don't have to
- 9:47Speaker 1: do that stuff during the day. I get to save
- 9:50Speaker 1: it for the night and I'm out all night and
- 9:52Speaker 1: I'm working so hard, and so it's like fun to
- 9:55Speaker 1: be playing.
- 9:56Speaker 5: And I've done a lot.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Of stuff I was I did eighteen months on Sunday
- 10:03Speaker 1: Company at Groundlings.
- 10:05Speaker 4: Whoa, whoa, you did a year and a half. That's tough.
- 10:08Speaker 4: You got really close to actually getting main stage.
- 10:11Speaker 5: Yeah. Well then I just gave it up because I, oh, you.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Just like got rid of it.
- 10:15Speaker 5: Yeah, I made it.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I moved from personal injury to criminal defense as a lawyer,
- 10:19Speaker 1: and it just was going to be too hard for
- 10:20Speaker 1: me to do main company and uh, like being a
- 10:26Speaker 1: criminal defense attorney.
- 10:27Speaker 4: So you didn't get caught.
- 10:27Speaker 5: WHOA, No, I've turned it down. It just felt better
- 10:30Speaker 5: for me, and it broke my heart. It was so
- 10:33Speaker 5: awkward to have to tea.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I'm sure. I'm sure it was such a.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Rummer, but I loved it. It was so much fun.
- 10:39Speaker 1: It's just like a nice release.
- 10:41Speaker 3: It's just so it's just kind of like it's just
- 10:42Speaker 3: like a hobby for you and you could just kind
- 10:44Speaker 3: of fun.
- 10:45Speaker 1: It's just like the best, Like Wow, talking to all
- 10:47Speaker 1: day are quote unquote innocent people, but I know they're murderers.
- 10:51Speaker 5: I know they're awful people.
- 10:52Speaker 1: You know they've done terrible things like and so it's
- 10:55Speaker 1: like heavy, heavy, heavy.
- 10:57Speaker 5: So when I get out of it, I'm like, let's
- 10:58Speaker 5: go play, let's poise, step stoples, we fight things like,
- 11:01Speaker 5: let's go do improv, like you know, it's so fun.
- 11:04Speaker 5: I just got on a Harald team at UCB.
- 11:06Speaker 2: WHOA, you went to law school and you were on Sunday.
- 11:10Speaker 6: That's incredible.
- 11:11Speaker 3: And you don't even like want to do comedy at
- 11:13Speaker 3: all or anything.
- 11:14Speaker 5: Oh I probably couldn't. I could never.
- 11:17Speaker 4: I just what you're doing it, you're doing it.
- 11:20Speaker 5: I guess I don't know. I just I just love
- 11:22Speaker 5: to hang out.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I love the things we get to do, the people
- 11:25Speaker 1: I get to see, Like that's what I do it for.
- 11:28Speaker 2: That's incredible that you just like went to law school.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Like that's just nuts.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Oh thanks, thanks, Yeah, I mean I don't know, I
- 11:36Speaker 1: love it. It's it's like I don't get to be
- 11:39Speaker 1: like this around other people. Like if I was on
- 11:41Speaker 1: a lawyer panel, it's like blooh.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Like can you imagine like being a lawyer, And then
- 11:47Speaker 1: like everyone else is like, I mean, this is a game,
- 11:50Speaker 1: Like this is totally a game.
- 11:51Speaker 5: When I'm describing, like we do an improv scene off it?
- 11:54Speaker 4: Do you want to? You guys like want to?
- 11:58Speaker 3: I mean, oh my god, I'm so I know.
- 12:01Speaker 5: I don't think my coach does this all the time.
- 12:05Speaker 1: We just start talking and we start small talking, and
- 12:07Speaker 1: I'm like, are you just wasting my sixty dollars by
- 12:09Speaker 1: having a conversation? And then he goes, wait, let's do
- 12:11Speaker 1: scenes off of our conversation.
- 12:12Speaker 5: We just had.
- 12:13Speaker 4: That's so funny. Should we do.
- 12:15Speaker 5: Improv scenes off of the conversation we just had?
- 12:17Speaker 2: Scenes from a park bench, scenes from a park bench,
- 12:19Speaker 2: Scenes from a park bench.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Okay, nobody can see, but camera's eyes just like went
- 12:24Speaker 3: cross eyes crazy.
- 12:27Speaker 7: It's crazy. So what's up, guys, I'll tell you my name.
- 12:31Speaker 7: Oh sorry, no, no, it's no problem.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Probably prop scenes based off of his intro.
- 12:38Speaker 7: That's fine, that's I know. I know a lot of
- 12:40Speaker 7: you guys. I've seen you guys around, so like, that's
- 12:42Speaker 7: really funny. You just said your name was Gordon because
- 12:44Speaker 7: you've been in the for Gordon's.
- 12:45Speaker 4: No, none of our names are Gordon. None of our
- 12:47Speaker 4: names are Gordon.
- 12:49Speaker 5: Yeah, that's funny.
- 12:50Speaker 4: We just like love to like do spins on that stuff,
- 12:53Speaker 4: so like.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Kind of like so funny. I could throw up right now.
- 12:56Speaker 3: That's so fucking funny.
- 13:00Speaker 6: That's so funny.
- 13:01Speaker 4: Thanks guys, thank you so much. Thanks. Yeah. Yeah, So
- 13:05Speaker 4: basically my name is.
- 13:08Speaker 7: My name is Chyler, and I am I'm a I
- 13:11Speaker 7: guess what I'm known as kind of like the king
- 13:13Speaker 7: of the indie scene. Like I just run the indie
- 13:15Speaker 7: scene and spend most of my days just commercial auditioning
- 13:17Speaker 7: and putting on improv shows. So it's a blast. I
- 13:22Speaker 7: have a lot of fun with my friends. I have
- 13:23Speaker 7: a lot of fun with a lot of people, and
- 13:25Speaker 7: it's great. I really love improv and I think it
- 13:29Speaker 7: actually is very beneficial. And that's like the problem is,
- 13:32Speaker 7: like people always see it as like a joke, but
- 13:34Speaker 7: actually mentally speaking, it's super beneficial and can teach you
- 13:37Speaker 7: things that nothing else can.
- 13:40Speaker 6: Yeah, for sure, got one.
- 13:44Speaker 4: Oh yeah, go Okay.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Hey, I'm so sorry that I can't make it to
- 13:52Speaker 3: our wedding today. I have to go to a commercial audition.
- 13:57Speaker 6: Honey, we're gonna get married. We've We've been waiting for
- 14:01Speaker 6: this forever.
- 14:02Speaker 3: I know, but this is a non union Samsung job
- 14:05Speaker 3: and I have to go do it.
- 14:08Speaker 8: Hello, it's your neighbor here. It's a kind of a craze.
- 14:14Speaker 2: It's so funny that I know you as the king
- 14:16Speaker 2: of Indie. Yeah, I just that voice is iconic. Do
- 14:26Speaker 2: you ever feel like I've only seen you improvise in
- 14:28Speaker 2: that voice?
- 14:29Speaker 4: Well, no, I do a lot of other voices.
- 14:31Speaker 6: No, it's literally always them the voice.
- 14:33Speaker 3: It's not it's not you have no one voice.
- 14:36Speaker 4: It's really not. It's really not always.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Remember when when we did that lights Out show, it
- 14:42Speaker 3: was like a lights out bit show at the clubhouse
- 14:45Speaker 3: midnight and.
- 14:46Speaker 7: Because yeah, there was an earthquake like a magnitude seven
- 14:52Speaker 7: point eight destroyed the power grid at the club.
- 14:54Speaker 3: And the electric and then we tried to recreate it
- 14:57Speaker 3: the week after and call it like lights out. We're
- 15:00Speaker 3: we should do this every week, and then it just
- 15:01Speaker 3: like didn't feel.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Yeah, but that's not the only voice I do. That's
- 15:04Speaker 4: just not the only we could tell it.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Like, it's so funny you call yourself the king of
- 15:09Speaker 2: the indie scene number one.
- 15:10Speaker 6: I think that's kind of funny.
- 15:11Speaker 7: I don't call I've just been called that. You Literally,
- 15:13Speaker 7: I'm kind of outside of the school I think.
- 15:15Speaker 3: You are pushing it, though I'm not like.
- 15:17Speaker 4: You're pushing it.
- 15:18Speaker 1: No, I'm really not try outside of the school system.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I haven't seen you get on any sort of house
- 15:22Speaker 1: team ever, No, because which is cool, Like it seems
- 15:25Speaker 1: like you don't want I.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Also know those like bullshit, Yeah, it's awesome that you
- 15:28Speaker 3: don't even want to get on one. It's like, I
- 15:30Speaker 3: can tell that's so funny.
- 15:31Speaker 2: I got on one and it was just like I
- 15:33Speaker 2: like just showed up to the audition. I really wanted it,
- 15:35Speaker 2: of course, but there's a bunch of these teams that
- 15:38Speaker 2: are like junior teams.
- 15:40Speaker 6: Never been on one, you know those junior house teams.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Like Mad Yeah, I'm on mod No No like mess Hall, mess.
- 15:46Speaker 4: Hall, Yeah, calling a junior house team.
- 15:49Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean that's what I think. They're literally categorized as.
- 15:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:51Speaker 4: Oh really that's crazy. I just am not in the
- 15:53Speaker 4: schooling system.
- 15:54Speaker 2: So yeah, because you're king of the indie scene. I
- 15:55Speaker 2: mean I did mess I did. I got put on
- 15:58Speaker 2: Herold for a little bit, But I really love short form.
- 16:00Speaker 2: That's really my main gig. Do you guys like musical improv?
- 16:04Speaker 4: I love musical improv.
- 16:06Speaker 7: I think it's really really funny, and when a team
- 16:08Speaker 7: can do it, that's so it's like magic.
- 16:10Speaker 6: I've seen you do it and you sang in that voice.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Oh yeah, well I didn't sing in that voice.
- 16:13Speaker 7: But I love when we do an indie voice, when
- 16:16Speaker 7: we do an indie night, I like really love getting
- 16:19Speaker 7: musical improv teams because they just bring something and then
- 16:21Speaker 7: sometimes they let me jump in and it's like just
- 16:24Speaker 7: so fun.
- 16:24Speaker 5: Chyla, what's your background? Like, what do you want to do?
- 16:26Speaker 1: Because I feel like I see you everywhere. I feel
- 16:28Speaker 1: like you see you doing improv. You're jumping in all
- 16:30Speaker 1: sorts of sets.
- 16:31Speaker 5: You're playing with people every single night. I've seen what
- 16:33Speaker 5: the powerwhiles, have seen it all that stuff, but.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Like, I don't know what you do outside of it, man, Like,
- 16:39Speaker 1: because every time I feel like, and this is where
- 16:40Speaker 1: I'm so grateful, I feel like, every time I'm in
- 16:42Speaker 1: conversations with improvisers, we're only just doing bits. So we
- 16:45Speaker 1: have of course that I have that incredible bit where
- 16:47Speaker 1: you act like you're a sergeant and I like I'm
- 16:49Speaker 1: a grasshopper.
- 16:49Speaker 6: Yeah, and that sergeant sounds like that neighbor.
- 16:52Speaker 4: It really doesn't, It really doesn't.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Can I hear the sergeant?
- 16:55Speaker 7: I don't know this b Well, it's kind of like
- 16:58Speaker 7: you have. It's probably gonna happen organically.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Is this bit that happened just because we were talking
- 17:02Speaker 1: and I interrupted him and then I was like, oh,
- 17:04Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 17:05Speaker 8: Get back to your station.
- 17:07Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what happened.
- 17:09Speaker 3: That's so funny.
- 17:10Speaker 7: It's the same boy, not it's not just if anything,
- 17:13Speaker 7: it's like pretty straight man.
- 17:14Speaker 1: All of that you have said, Like you I don't
- 17:17Speaker 1: know who you are as a person, Like what what
- 17:20Speaker 1: are you up to?
- 17:21Speaker 5: Dude? Yeah?
- 17:21Speaker 7: No, I do improv and I just like I do
- 17:23Speaker 7: a lot of commercial auditions and that's you know.
- 17:26Speaker 8: That's my life. So uh, everybody, get back to the base.
- 17:32Speaker 6: I know you drive that Prius. Oh you're being a grasshopper.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Yeah, you guys get it now right this bit?
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I know you drive a Prius. Did you pay
- 17:41Speaker 2: for that with like a commercial money? Like do you
- 17:44Speaker 2: book the commercials or like where are you at?
- 17:45Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 17:46Speaker 7: No, I sometimes book the commercials, but most of the money,
- 17:49Speaker 7: I mean it's mostly coming from like a couple of
- 17:52Speaker 7: commercials that I do every year.
- 17:53Speaker 4: And it's great, it's oh solid, it's all.
- 17:55Speaker 6: So you're like an actor.
- 17:56Speaker 4: Yeah, like I'm an actor, like kind of. I guess
- 17:59Speaker 4: that's awesome.
- 17:59Speaker 5: I wish I could do that. I'm so jealous of
- 18:01Speaker 5: your life.
- 18:02Speaker 4: Like no, thank you, guys, thank you.
- 18:03Speaker 1: No.
- 18:04Speaker 7: To be honest, though, a lot of the money does
- 18:06Speaker 7: come from my parents, so like that's great.
- 18:07Speaker 6: Quick, Well, yeah, what do they do?
- 18:10Speaker 7: My dad is in industrial design and my mom is
- 18:13Speaker 7: also an industrial design so they both design the benches
- 18:18Speaker 7: that don't let hopless people sleep on them.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Oh yeah, like the spike were.
- 18:25Speaker 7: The just the like the spike ones, just the ones
- 18:27Speaker 7: that have aggressive, aggressive handles.
- 18:29Speaker 4: What do they call it?
- 18:30Speaker 3: Malicious architecture?
- 18:31Speaker 6: No, it's like malevolent design, malevolent design. How did they
- 18:35Speaker 6: get reach off of that?
- 18:37Speaker 4: Well, a lot of cities, everybody has them.
- 18:39Speaker 3: That's that's honestly really messed up.
- 18:42Speaker 7: Well, it's it's sad and like I just try to
- 18:44Speaker 7: talk to them and it's tough. You know, family dinners
- 18:46Speaker 7: are tough because like, I don't know, this is kind
- 18:48Speaker 7: of awkward.
- 18:49Speaker 5: I've definitely taken your parents to court before. I've tried.
- 18:52Speaker 5: Really I've tried to.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I've I've represented a couple of people in my
- 18:55Speaker 1: public defender days, a couple on house people that got
- 18:58Speaker 1: injuries from trying.
- 18:58Speaker 4: To So you were a public defender before you switched
- 19:00Speaker 4: over to the private.
- 19:02Speaker 5: I've done everything. It's so boring.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I was public declinded and then I was personal injury.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Then I became criminal defense. So I was public defender,
- 19:09Speaker 1: fighting for the state, fighting for people, fighting greatest, and people.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Do sick of it.
- 19:13Speaker 5: And I said, I'm so sick of being poor.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna be personal injury and I'm gonna get a
- 19:17Speaker 1: lot of money from trying to get to help other
- 19:19Speaker 1: people out. With injuries and they got a little too
- 19:21Speaker 1: cold for me, and I want to go back. I
- 19:24Speaker 1: want to go back to helping free the innocent. But
- 19:27Speaker 1: I don't want to do it for free anymore. I
- 19:29Speaker 1: want to get paid doing it well. So I became
- 19:31Speaker 1: a criminal defensientory with all the experience.
- 19:33Speaker 7: The criminal defense attorneys that get paid well usually are
- 19:35Speaker 7: also not not defending the good ones.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I try, I try, you know, but it's it's it's
- 19:44Speaker 1: tough to find a rich, good person.
- 19:47Speaker 4: And I'm gonna be honest.
- 19:48Speaker 5: I laughed a little bit. It's a little tricky, like,
- 19:50Speaker 5: you know, I take what I take, but it.
- 19:52Speaker 6: Is that's insane.
- 19:54Speaker 7: Ask you guys like something like a crazy question, like
- 19:56Speaker 7: like what do you think, like is the most valuable
- 19:58Speaker 7: thing you've learned from him?
- 20:00Speaker 6: Oh my god, Oh yeah.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Because I thought this was like I think about this
- 20:03Speaker 4: all the time.
- 20:04Speaker 2: I would say a sense of community. And I first
- 20:07Speaker 2: of all, my my friends. I love my friends. I
- 20:09Speaker 2: have some of the best friends ever. And I would
- 20:12Speaker 2: also say it's community building. Every Wednesday at seven am,
- 20:16Speaker 2: I go with my friends and we go pick up
- 20:19Speaker 2: you know, like when shopping carts get away from the
- 20:21Speaker 2: grocery store. We go get them and bring them back
- 20:26Speaker 2: to the grocery store. It's a nonprofit and that's your
- 20:29Speaker 2: Oh no no, And I do that on Tuesdays And
- 20:32Speaker 2: I wouldn't have found that group if without improfit.
- 20:34Speaker 5: That's a charity, that's a that's such a night.
- 20:37Speaker 4: How'd that charity start? Ralph's Ralph's started.
- 20:40Speaker 6: Ralph started it.
- 20:41Speaker 2: They and they were like, uh, we're losing all these
- 20:45Speaker 2: shopping cards because that's probably.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Something their employees would normally do, like for money.
- 20:49Speaker 2: But then also the city was having problems with the
- 20:52Speaker 2: shopping cards because it was like, uh, it was kind
- 20:54Speaker 2: of like trash.
- 20:55Speaker 6: In a sense.
- 20:56Speaker 7: Yeah, my parents also designed the shopping carts that stop
- 20:58Speaker 7: the wheel.
- 20:59Speaker 5: I think we nonprofits to court as well.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Back of the public deferend Todays because of the injuries
- 21:07Speaker 1: that were sustained by a couple of house people from
- 21:10Speaker 1: ripping the shopping carts from their homes.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Yeah, well, not all Ralphs can afford those because that's
- 21:14Speaker 2: really expensive.
- 21:15Speaker 3: All Ralphs are rich.
- 21:18Speaker 6: No, that's all different.
- 21:19Speaker 3: It's all different.
- 21:20Speaker 5: So they really don't think about Yeah.
- 21:22Speaker 2: The charity started when there was a treater Joe's Shopping
- 21:25Speaker 2: cart on the four o five and ten people died.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Wow, oh my god.
- 21:30Speaker 3: I was about to do like a like a bit
- 21:33Speaker 3: about like your pull up.
- 21:37Speaker 6: I actually think comedy that's about dark stuff is so funny.
- 21:39Speaker 3: It's like I felt, I'm just like I'm on the
- 21:41Speaker 3: four or five, and then I'm like, this avocado is
- 21:44Speaker 3: kind of soft.
- 21:48Speaker 8: Avocado. I'm not just a softy. There's a lot more
- 21:54Speaker 8: me ow's at my pain masks.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Okay, we're minds me yeah, my favorite. The thing that
- 22:06Speaker 3: I've learned most about improv is that every choice you
- 22:09Speaker 3: make is right. Yes, every single move you make is correct,
- 22:14Speaker 3: even if it makes people uncomfortable, even if like you're
- 22:19Speaker 3: told not to, even if your teacher stops the scene,
- 22:22Speaker 3: Like you have to go in with the knowledge that
- 22:24Speaker 3: everything you do is correct, and so you can take
- 22:27Speaker 3: a note, but just know that the choice you made
- 22:31Speaker 3: was right. And I apply that to my normal life.
- 22:33Speaker 3: So like, every time I do something that like I
- 22:37Speaker 3: don't know, maybe my roommates don't agree with, or my
- 22:39Speaker 3: parents don't agree with, Like I made that choice because
- 22:43Speaker 3: everything I do is right.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Like what are the things that you what are those
- 22:46Speaker 4: choices that.
- 22:46Speaker 3: They roommate's car, which like I think that she like
- 22:52Speaker 3: we know that situation that well. I guess it was
- 22:55Speaker 3: this whole misunderstanding because she goes to work every day
- 22:59Speaker 3: and for some reason I thought like maybe she wouldn't
- 23:03Speaker 3: have work one day, and so I just like took
- 23:05Speaker 3: a chance, and I just took it really quickly. I
- 23:07Speaker 3: just had to go to Coachella, and so she was
- 23:11Speaker 3: like really upset.
- 23:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:13Speaker 3: But and it's like we can resolve that situation. But
- 23:15Speaker 3: I know that every choice I make is right.
- 23:18Speaker 4: I feel like she would get it, like if she
- 23:21Speaker 4: was actually so.
- 23:22Speaker 2: But then if you've been around long enough, you know
- 23:24Speaker 2: that every choice is right. But then also to listen
- 23:26Speaker 2: so much to her when she's so upset, just listening
- 23:30Speaker 2: to her, and you must have just been listening to
- 23:33Speaker 2: her when she was so pissed.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I was really listening and I was like responding,
- 23:37Speaker 3: and I was actually really in it. I was I
- 23:40Speaker 3: couldn't help but smile the whole conversation because I was like, I'm.
- 23:43Speaker 9: So so amazing to listen to have, like if I'm
- 23:49Speaker 9: your roommate, to be listened to so well, and then
- 23:51Speaker 9: at the end you go, every choice I make is.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, and like, well, I did tell her that.
- 23:56Speaker 3: I explained like.
- 23:58Speaker 4: That, you guys were just improvising.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I said this was you should go take
- 24:04Speaker 3: a class. You should take a class. You're really good
- 24:07Speaker 3: at this.
- 24:08Speaker 1: I think the numero uno thing that I learned that
- 24:12Speaker 1: is important to me in everyday life is when you
- 24:14Speaker 1: see and this is more you see be the groundlings,
- 24:17Speaker 1: but it is if you see the unusual thing, you
- 24:20Speaker 1: got to call it out.
- 24:21Speaker 5: And if you because you can't, if you can't call it.
- 24:23Speaker 4: That must help you so much in your law cases.
- 24:25Speaker 5: I get a lot call it out. Here's an unusual thing.
- 24:30Speaker 1: The person says that they saw my client at three pm,
- 24:36Speaker 1: but my client was in a gym at three pm.
- 24:41Speaker 4: You sound like a really confident lawyer.
- 24:42Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Yeah, And this is exactly how I sound too in
- 24:47Speaker 1: the room.
- 24:48Speaker 2: And I'd say, what was unusual about that is that
- 24:51Speaker 2: the who would go to the gym in the afternoon.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I will never.
- 24:57Speaker 4: Go to the gym. No, you won't catch me there.
- 24:59Speaker 3: You won't catch me there.
- 25:00Speaker 5: It's not unusual to me.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I think what's unusual to me about this one is
- 25:04Speaker 1: somebody saw them there, but it's very clear we have
- 25:07Speaker 1: them on a camera that they're somewhere else.
- 25:10Speaker 7: I guess what was unusual to me is how you
- 25:11Speaker 7: said it.
- 25:13Speaker 3: That's what you could heighten it. I think more unsure
- 25:18Speaker 3: about the more and more serious thing like voice or something,
- 25:23Speaker 3: and you're like, wow, I really think my clorient.
- 25:26Speaker 7: Was your client could be like I don't think I'm guilty.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Or if you like maybe did the subtitles game and
- 25:35Speaker 2: if maybe you don't understand what they're saying, like if
- 25:37Speaker 2: it's another language, just like make up what they're saying.
- 25:41Speaker 3: That's such a good exercise, a short form for you.
- 25:44Speaker 1: That's the kind of stuff that's really fun and improv
- 25:47Speaker 1: I love that stuff and improv.
- 25:48Speaker 5: So I hear where you guys are coming from.
- 25:50Speaker 1: The unusual thing here to just isolate it was that
- 25:53Speaker 1: alibi was wrong and this person was actually lying under.
- 25:57Speaker 5: What was crazy years if this person was would be exonerated.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Like it's hard when jail is on the line to
- 26:03Speaker 1: do bits and jokes and things like that.
- 26:05Speaker 6: How do you not heighten it?
- 26:06Speaker 5: It's hard not to heighten it. It's hard. I want
- 26:09Speaker 5: to do those things like using a lot.
- 26:12Speaker 4: Is there no like walck ons or anything? In court?
- 26:14Speaker 5: No?
- 26:14Speaker 1: I mean so I guess I could explain court through
- 26:17Speaker 1: improv terms.
- 26:18Speaker 4: That'd be really helpful.
- 26:19Speaker 3: That would be so because I mean, I've seen it
- 26:21Speaker 3: on TV, but I don't think that's like, yeah, the.
- 26:23Speaker 7: Only honestly, the only court I've seen is in improv scenes,
- 26:26Speaker 7: and every single time.
- 26:27Speaker 4: The funny thing is nobody knows how courts work.
- 26:30Speaker 1: And the funny thing is usually the stenographer, and there's
- 26:32Speaker 1: usually four or five scenographers usually, I would say an
- 26:35Speaker 1: improv That's one of my biggest problems when it comes
- 26:37Speaker 1: to being an improviser is people are like, oh, I'll
- 26:40Speaker 1: take you to court, and then we cut to the
- 26:42Speaker 1: court scene and the entire team wants to be a
- 26:44Speaker 1: sonographer and I'm her alone.
- 26:46Speaker 5: That's the hardest thing for me.
- 26:48Speaker 3: I think, yeah, because nobody knows how.
- 26:50Speaker 5: Because I'm just like, well, let's just do it, and
- 26:51Speaker 5: we don't have to do it. You don't have to
- 26:53Speaker 5: do it step by step by step by step.
- 26:55Speaker 1: But one person's got to be a judge, one person's
- 26:57Speaker 1: got to be a defendant, one person's got to be
- 26:59Speaker 1: a prosecutor.
- 27:00Speaker 5: We can have some people in the audience, we can
- 27:01Speaker 5: have a bailiff. There's a lot of people that we
- 27:03Speaker 5: can use.
- 27:03Speaker 4: Oh, I love when people are big choice bailiffs.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's tough too, because bailiffs usually don't speak unless
- 27:09Speaker 1: and if a bailiff is speaking, then something has gone
- 27:11Speaker 1: terribly wrong.
- 27:12Speaker 5: That's usually something you think about it.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Have you ever thought about teaching a genre class?
- 27:16Speaker 6: You'd be so good at that a genre because lost
- 27:19Speaker 6: like a genre.
- 27:19Speaker 1: They asked me to teach a genre or they asked
- 27:22Speaker 1: me to teach one over at this new comedy theater
- 27:25Speaker 1: in El Segundo called El Comedy Click.
- 27:29Speaker 6: That's crazy. I am on one of their house teams.
- 27:31Speaker 5: Scc YEP, no way, congrats.
- 27:34Speaker 6: Thank you. It was a there was like twelve rounds.
- 27:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I know I heard that.
- 27:39Speaker 1: They said what we don't like about the other theaters
- 27:41Speaker 1: is that there's not enough auditions.
- 27:43Speaker 6: Rounds because it builds you.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Yeah, they said, we're gonna take what everyone loves, the
- 27:49Speaker 1: heavy levels and the heavy heavy heavy gatekeeping.
- 27:53Speaker 6: Yeah, nobody goes to the shows. They only go to
- 27:55Speaker 6: the auditions.
- 27:55Speaker 5: Yeah, but they pay for the auditions, you guys.
- 27:59Speaker 3: I don't know, And maybe this is a hot take,
- 28:01Speaker 3: Like I feel like we all are like Boo gatekeeping,
- 28:07Speaker 3: but like I don't know, like it's it's kind of useful.
- 28:12Speaker 4: Are you on house teams anywhere?
- 28:14Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, I'm on I'm on MOD and I'm
- 28:17Speaker 3: on mess Hall at UCB, and I just think that
- 28:21Speaker 3: it's like good to have, like it's and there's so
- 28:25Speaker 3: much camaraderie. So I guess like around the audition we should.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Explain what modern mess hall is.
- 28:30Speaker 5: In gatekeeping, let's.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Explain gatekeeping mod mess Hall and El Segundo's Mod Poppy.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Okay, So, so a MOD team is ucb's how sketch team.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Now it's not exactly improv but it's kind of like
- 28:46Speaker 3: drawing on a lot of those terms. And mess Hall
- 28:51Speaker 3: is like they're almost Harold team, Like they're so close
- 28:55Speaker 3: to the Harald team, which is like the big team,
- 28:57Speaker 3: Like they're really really close to it.
- 29:00Speaker 7: And so then mod Poppy it's mod Poppy, It's Poppy.
- 29:04Speaker 2: It's the equivalent to MOD at UCB, but it's a Alsogundo.
- 29:09Speaker 6: So, uh, it's sketch auditions, auditions.
- 29:15Speaker 3: And the team is mostly auditions. Yeah, that honestly sounds
- 29:19Speaker 3: really fun.
- 29:19Speaker 4: So you like gatekeeping though, and what's gatekeeping?
- 29:22Speaker 3: It's not that I okay, So gatekeeping is like when
- 29:25Speaker 3: you do you when you put impossible barriers to the stage,
- 29:31Speaker 3: you just keep putting barriers up and up and up,
- 29:33Speaker 3: and like, oh, you have to take this class. Oh
- 29:35Speaker 3: you have to like do this team. You have to
- 29:37Speaker 3: do this team for six months before you can even
- 29:38Speaker 3: be considered for this team. And it's like, I don't know.
- 29:41Speaker 3: I just like I think rules are kind of awesome,
- 29:44Speaker 3: and I who always agrees.
- 29:48Speaker 7: With me, maybe's great for you, but I'm just like
- 29:50Speaker 7: outside the system, Like I just feel like they hold
- 29:53Speaker 7: talent back, and like what improv is what I've learned
- 29:55Speaker 7: the most is how to be free. And that's like
- 29:58Speaker 7: the biggest thing is you should have right fear. You
- 30:00Speaker 7: should be following your gut. Every choice is right, and
- 30:03Speaker 7: I feel like in a system, you're just not going
- 30:05Speaker 7: to get as many interesting choices.
- 30:07Speaker 2: That's why I also know so incredible because the system
- 30:10Speaker 2: is trying to get into the system.
- 30:12Speaker 5: Yeah, have you considered being a lawyer? It sounds like
- 30:15Speaker 5: you'd love it.
- 30:16Speaker 3: I've never thought about it because I want to be
- 30:19Speaker 3: a famous actor.
- 30:20Speaker 5: What do you do?
- 30:21Speaker 6: Like, what's your day job?
- 30:23Speaker 3: So I do social media for a company that makes
- 30:32Speaker 3: life worse for prisons.
- 30:35Speaker 8: I've seen that social media they're trying to do.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Like Wendy's Twitter, like from twenty sixteen, they're trying to
- 30:41Speaker 3: do that for it's like a it's like a so
- 30:45Speaker 3: it's not exactly directly harming the prisons. It's like private prisons,
- 30:50Speaker 3: like like pr firm and so, and it's called.
- 30:55Speaker 7: Hey, you guys like rip apart the prisoners in those
- 30:57Speaker 7: private prisons, right, you make fun.
- 30:59Speaker 3: We like roast the prisoners, and it's like it just
- 31:02Speaker 3: pays the bills, you know, And it's been in a
- 31:03Speaker 3: wage like I don't.
- 31:04Speaker 4: It's not amazing, And I like you all.
- 31:08Speaker 5: I have no.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I have officially been to court with the employers and
- 31:12Speaker 1: parents of every single person that's improv man, that's every
- 31:17Speaker 1: odd because you're that is being used to deny prisoners rights.
- 31:22Speaker 5: It's so crazy. You're going ahead to head.
- 31:24Speaker 6: Yeah so funny, yeah, so insane.
- 31:26Speaker 3: I mean, it's like we all have to take jobs.
- 31:28Speaker 3: These are like I don't endorse it. It's just like
- 31:30Speaker 3: these are just the jobs that are available. And I
- 31:32Speaker 3: totally never work in a restaurant totally.
- 31:35Speaker 7: No, No, I could never. It just it holds me
- 31:37Speaker 7: back and it's just so.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Literally hard to get a shift covered. It's like just
- 31:44Speaker 2: you had an audition. It's so hard to get a shift.
- 31:46Speaker 5: I was a bus boy for fifteen years.
- 31:48Speaker 4: What it was so hazy when you were in law school?
- 31:51Speaker 5: Law school? I started in fifteen.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Okay, I've got a pull for that. Okay, Hey bus boy,
- 31:56Speaker 4: you seem a little young to be in here. What
- 31:59Speaker 4: are you doing?
- 32:00Speaker 6: I don't know that improv doesn't sound right. I feel
- 32:02Speaker 6: like you're not doing something.
- 32:05Speaker 3: It sounds like you're trying to copy somebody else's Did
- 32:08Speaker 3: you start?
- 32:09Speaker 2: Were you talking or I think you need to go
- 32:11Speaker 2: from yourself.
- 32:12Speaker 6: Don't like put on a voice.
- 32:13Speaker 4: I just am not. I'm not. That was me just
- 32:16Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 32:17Speaker 6: You're doing like grownling stuff where you're doing a big character.
- 32:19Speaker 6: Just go back to you.
- 32:21Speaker 7: Okay, I'll try again. Hey bus boy, you look a
- 32:24Speaker 7: little young to be here.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Now you're in your head and I can tell you're
- 32:28Speaker 2: sewing your head and now you're trying to be funny.
- 32:31Speaker 3: Maybe just like what if we all take a deep breath.
- 32:36Speaker 4: And then one, two.
- 32:40Speaker 5: Three, five?
- 32:43Speaker 6: Oh damn it, everything I do is right? So there
- 32:49Speaker 6: is no four in this universe? That's true? What else is.
- 32:51Speaker 5: Oh my gosh. If there's no it's called the fantastic three.
- 32:58Speaker 5: Let's keep going. Let's more.
- 33:01Speaker 3: There's no four, then it's like connect three.
- 33:07Speaker 4: Let's let's give more.
- 33:10Speaker 3: If there's no four door in a car, it's like
- 33:12Speaker 3: a three door in a car.
- 33:14Speaker 7: That's I'm not good at this because it's premise pulling,
- 33:16Speaker 7: and I don't know what the fun that is.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Okay, if there's no four then we can't play four square,
- 33:21Speaker 2: which is my favorite short form game.
- 33:23Speaker 5: And what and what would you play instead?
- 33:26Speaker 4: Oh?
- 33:26Speaker 6: Damn once agad. I don't want to invent anything. Maybe
- 33:29Speaker 6: let's go back to what's been done. Three square.
- 33:33Speaker 4: That's good, Oh oh oh oh.
- 33:37Speaker 3: If there were no fours, it would just be a
- 33:40Speaker 3: George man Grilles.
- 33:45Speaker 7: And uncle, there's not trying to play anything like that.
- 33:51Speaker 5: Nice, awesome, Nice, that's awesome. Nice, that's awesome.
- 33:58Speaker 4: No money.
- 33:59Speaker 5: Hey, here's a question. How hard was zoom improv during
- 34:03Speaker 5: the pandemic?
- 34:05Speaker 3: God, it's just like it doesn't It.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Honestly killed me. It honestly ruined my life.
- 34:12Speaker 7: When theaters shut down, I didn't know what to do
- 34:15Speaker 7: and I don't know how you guys managed to pull through.
- 34:18Speaker 4: But it honestly ruined me.
- 34:19Speaker 7: I tried to do any any shows I could, but
- 34:22Speaker 7: no venue was open, and so what I would have
- 34:25Speaker 7: to do was indie improv on Zoom and you're performing
- 34:28Speaker 7: to just yourselves, and that's no real different than indie improv,
- 34:31Speaker 7: but it felt different.
- 34:33Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm totally agree, buddy. I think it was the
- 34:35Speaker 6: darkest darkest times because I couldn't connect with my friends.
- 34:39Speaker 2: And I hate to get deep here, but it's just
- 34:42Speaker 2: like I'll just be vulnerable because I trust you guys.
- 34:44Speaker 6: You guys are my best friends. Zoom improv was so
- 34:47Speaker 6: hard because I couldn't just like be with my.
- 34:49Speaker 5: Buds, you know what I mean.
- 34:50Speaker 10: Yeah, I was just like I was just trying to
- 34:54Speaker 10: pull premise, and it's hard. Premis when you're like when
- 34:59Speaker 10: they're like a lag and then when doesn't know what
- 35:02Speaker 10: you're saying, it's you have to like just like pretend
- 35:06Speaker 10: that's what was, like what what the initiation was, and
- 35:10Speaker 10: like you just like can't. It's just so inorganic.
- 35:14Speaker 3: And I think that's what people don't understand, is like
- 35:16Speaker 3: it just like doesn't work. And I don't know why
- 35:19Speaker 3: people kept organizing those shows because it's like it's just torture.
- 35:23Speaker 5: We needed something, right, like, we needed something.
- 35:26Speaker 1: I didn't want another hobby. I was working overtime because
- 35:30Speaker 1: the court system was such a gd mass at that point.
- 35:33Speaker 5: There was so much going on.
- 35:35Speaker 1: I was zooming into court cases. I mean that's what
- 35:37Speaker 1: was actually.
- 35:38Speaker 4: Wait, did you ever confuse a court case for a
- 35:39Speaker 4: zoom improshow? Oh?
- 35:40Speaker 5: My god, the office? Oh my god, of course not.
- 35:44Speaker 5: But let's see that.
- 35:46Speaker 4: Let's see it, let's see it.
- 35:48Speaker 6: Oh, I'm so late for this deposition.
- 35:54Speaker 8: I'm a gonna stenographer.
- 35:57Speaker 6: Wait, there's six of you.
- 35:59Speaker 2: That means, oh, dang, this is my improv class. Guys,
- 36:03Speaker 2: I thought you were in my deposition.
- 36:04Speaker 5: Meanwhile in the other place. Please, he'll be here. He'll
- 36:10Speaker 5: be here, I promise you.
- 36:13Speaker 8: I want to see my panties.
- 36:16Speaker 6: God.
- 36:16Speaker 2: I love how we did both scenes and you had
- 36:19Speaker 2: the confidence to come in there and go switch it.
- 36:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:22Speaker 3: It's like that short form game Parallel Universe.
- 36:24Speaker 6: No, I love Parallel Universe.
- 36:26Speaker 4: I played before Ben really.
- 36:28Speaker 7: And Cameron, I will say, you're one of the funniest
- 36:30Speaker 7: improvisers I've ever seen.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Thank you so much. You have that great two person show.
- 36:35Speaker 7: It's you, Cameron and Ashley Toronto, right, and you're just
- 36:39Speaker 7: so much funnier than her every single time.
- 36:41Speaker 5: Oh my Toronto. I was in writing lab with.
- 36:44Speaker 7: Ashley Toront She is crazy. She is absolutely unpredictable and
- 36:50Speaker 7: actually groto.
- 36:51Speaker 2: That brings me up into a new point, which is zoom.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Improv made dating hard?
- 36:57Speaker 4: How How how did you guys date?
- 37:00Speaker 6: I didn't meet, Like, but you don't.
- 37:02Speaker 4: You aren't you dating a No?
- 37:04Speaker 2: I have a really really really hot girlfriend. But it
- 37:06Speaker 2: was hard to like flirt.
- 37:08Speaker 3: But you were trying.
- 37:08Speaker 6: Oh you mean.
- 37:09Speaker 5: Like it was hard to meet because you do most
- 37:11Speaker 5: of your flirting at improv shows.
- 37:13Speaker 6: You guys don't.
- 37:14Speaker 5: I'm married, I got a wife.
- 37:16Speaker 2: But you don't flirting and improv show when you see
- 37:18Speaker 2: that girl and she's got ankle length pants and you
- 37:20Speaker 2: could see your vans and she's got a T shirt.
- 37:23Speaker 6: French talked.
- 37:25Speaker 3: I mean, honestly, it was really good prop me, I
- 37:28Speaker 3: think in that sense to not like because I'm I
- 37:31Speaker 3: kind of worked my way through like a lot of
- 37:34Speaker 3: people on my team and so.
- 37:36Speaker 4: Oh you slept with everybody on your team?
- 37:38Speaker 3: I mean yeah, Like I think it was nice to
- 37:41Speaker 3: just like have that barrier and have that separation. What
- 37:44Speaker 3: was this. This was Friday Friday.
- 37:47Speaker 4: Friday Friday.
- 37:48Speaker 6: Okay, we knew you. You were all sleeping together.
- 37:52Speaker 3: It all started with together all just with me.
- 37:55Speaker 2: No, that would be crazy orgies. I think improvisers can't.
- 38:00Speaker 3: I don't think we can because we're too awful. Yeah,
- 38:02Speaker 3: we're doing too many.
- 38:03Speaker 1: It's funny because I feel like improvisers are really six
- 38:06Speaker 1: positive to a point.
- 38:08Speaker 4: Yeah, point, and then they get weird conservatives Like.
- 38:11Speaker 1: But it's funny because I feel like I'm not around
- 38:14Speaker 1: a sex positive atmosphere in court, Like that's not what
- 38:17Speaker 1: we're talking about usually, and if we are talking about it,
- 38:20Speaker 1: like it's literally legal.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Okay, we gotta see this scene.
- 38:25Speaker 7: We gotta see this scene a lot from just me
- 38:30Speaker 7: to play in that because I'm sorry, you like live
- 38:33Speaker 7: in a different world.
- 38:34Speaker 3: Otherwise we'd just be like pulling improv premises out of
- 38:38Speaker 3: talking about improv and like, imagine is that can you you.
- 38:42Speaker 6: Have about improv?
- 38:43Speaker 4: Is? No, it's I and I don't ever want to
- 38:47Speaker 4: hear it. And it sounds awful.
- 38:49Speaker 6: Somebody to that.
- 38:50Speaker 7: It's like imagine doing something like a forty five minute
- 38:53Speaker 7: show or something that's improv by improv, like a meta
- 38:56Speaker 7: thing that sounds.
- 38:56Speaker 4: Awful as well.
- 38:57Speaker 5: Just eat your own asshole.
- 38:59Speaker 4: Yeah, might as well make out with yourself in the mirror.
- 39:01Speaker 2: I've been on Hara ald night before and no, thank you.
- 39:06Speaker 2: That's why I approved Poppy the audition.
- 39:10Speaker 3: Okay, wait, so you were saying, oh no, we were
- 39:14Speaker 3: pulling from you.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we were pulling from my story, my little anecdote.
- 39:19Speaker 3: You know, I don't remember what it is.
- 39:21Speaker 6: You would be a good monogeist an alogist.
- 39:25Speaker 5: Yeah, monologists.
- 39:26Speaker 3: Have they ever asked you to do to do?
- 39:29Speaker 4: To do?
- 39:29Speaker 3: Big big mouse, big mouse?
- 39:31Speaker 5: I have been asked the big mouse. I did a
- 39:33Speaker 5: big mess a couple of times.
- 39:34Speaker 4: Whoa, I just never want to do it.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Uh.
- 39:38Speaker 5: Charlie Cooky was on there.
- 39:39Speaker 7: He is a legend. It's so funny. He's so funny.
- 39:43Speaker 7: I hope the allegations aren't real.
- 39:45Speaker 11: No, I think that you guys so funny that they
- 39:55Speaker 11: make your hard make your accusations seem quieter because you're
- 39:59Speaker 11: so damn funny.
- 40:01Speaker 3: Like it like it pains me because like I know,
- 40:04Speaker 3: I mean, I could say the same thing about Jim Alistair.
- 40:08Speaker 3: You know, I really.
- 40:13Speaker 6: Hope, really true Jim Alistair.
- 40:19Speaker 2: I quite literally am friends with one of the people
- 40:22Speaker 2: that is a victim of him.
- 40:23Speaker 6: But his buttons are so funny.
- 40:27Speaker 3: True, oh no, but like it's like so probably definitely.
- 40:37Speaker 4: And it's actually good that they're removed now.
- 40:40Speaker 5: It's really good, so good.
- 40:41Speaker 6: Because it gives it gives the rest of us spots
- 40:43Speaker 6: on the team.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Are you guys pranking me because we're a good talking
- 40:47Speaker 1: about people that I'm representing?
- 40:50Speaker 3: Way, okay, can you tell us is he guilty?
- 40:53Speaker 10: No?
- 40:53Speaker 5: I can't tell you guys that guys do that. Let's
- 40:59Speaker 5: just say they heard me. And at this point in
- 41:01Speaker 5: my career, I have a lot of money.
- 41:04Speaker 6: Yeah, it feels like you.
- 41:05Speaker 2: You work on like insanely controversial cases. So it sounds
- 41:09Speaker 2: like Jim Allister might have done something.
- 41:11Speaker 3: But he's so so funny and like it's like I
- 41:15Speaker 3: saw that on that Netflix show and he still comes
- 41:17Speaker 3: back to do these shows.
- 41:18Speaker 4: Yeah, Like he's.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Always talking to all the girls after.
- 41:22Speaker 7: So I saw him do a Jamaican accent for forty
- 41:25Speaker 7: five minutes straight in a set and it was so funny.
- 41:29Speaker 5: Have you guys watched his Netflix show Creepy Fuck?
- 41:33Speaker 4: He's so funny on it's so funny.
- 41:35Speaker 2: I loved his first one I'm a little stupid bitch,
- 41:39Speaker 2: creepy fuck talk to me, baby.
- 41:41Speaker 3: Yeah, they really cleaned it up for the second one.
- 41:44Speaker 7: His second show with a very similar name, just a
- 41:48Speaker 7: shorter one. I'm telling you, Cameron, you're one of the
- 41:51Speaker 7: funniest guys I've ever seen, So much funnier than your partner.
- 41:54Speaker 6: Oh, I sometimes I think it's just my smile. That's
- 41:56Speaker 6: what my mom says.
- 41:57Speaker 4: That's so great.
- 41:58Speaker 6: Yeah, she's from India.
- 42:01Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Okay, that's really awesome.
- 42:05Speaker 5: So do you guys, what what's like your next step?
- 42:08Speaker 5: What's the end goal? What's the game?
- 42:10Speaker 1: Because for me, it's always just a really fun side gig.
- 42:13Speaker 5: It's something to do, it's something to take the mind
- 42:15Speaker 5: off the day. Well from when are you gonna give
- 42:18Speaker 5: it up? Or when you're gonna grow into it?
- 42:20Speaker 4: Or what's what's the next step for give it up?
- 42:21Speaker 3: I think I could ever No, no.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Way, Yeah, I'm I'm actually opening up an improv school.
- 42:27Speaker 7: I'm starting to teach school teaching classes now, are Yeah.
- 42:31Speaker 6: That's so incredible.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Are you like one of those you should try to
- 42:34Speaker 2: teach like businesses and stuff.
- 42:35Speaker 6: That's what's so amazing.
- 42:37Speaker 7: No, No, I don't want to work with with people
- 42:41Speaker 7: that aren't in it.
- 42:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I get that.
- 42:43Speaker 6: I get that.
- 42:43Speaker 1: I would say counterpoint is businesses have a lot more
- 42:46Speaker 1: money than actors.
- 42:47Speaker 4: That, Okay, we gotta pull that, we gotta pull that.
- 42:50Speaker 4: Business you should listen to that.
- 42:51Speaker 5: I think you should listen.
- 42:52Speaker 7: We gotta pull that, we gotta pull it, Okay. To
- 42:57Speaker 7: be honest, also, I think there's a big problem.
- 43:04Speaker 3: I hate being on the back line and just like freezing,
- 43:06Speaker 3: I suck ass.
- 43:08Speaker 4: Your biggest freeze? What was your biggest freeze?
- 43:10Speaker 3: Oh my god?
- 43:12Speaker 6: Wait, I do want to answer your question though, like
- 43:14Speaker 6: what's going on?
- 43:15Speaker 5: What I want to do I would like to know
- 43:17Speaker 5: about question is.
- 43:18Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 43:21Speaker 4: Like, what's going on?
- 43:23Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 43:24Speaker 2: I I want to be the man who's written the
- 43:28Speaker 2: most pilots in the world.
- 43:31Speaker 6: Cool, that's the dream.
- 43:33Speaker 3: And how many of you written so far?
- 43:35Speaker 6: I've written fifty.
- 43:36Speaker 4: Wow, that's actually incredible.
- 43:38Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 43:38Speaker 2: And I know that in our industry there's not really
- 43:42Speaker 2: a place for just pilot writers, but that.
- 43:45Speaker 3: You don't want to like pitch them and make them.
- 43:48Speaker 6: Now at all.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Going into the same office all the time would be
- 43:51Speaker 2: so I just like know the art of the pilot
- 43:53Speaker 2: and I have taken pilot classes and if anything, I
- 43:55Speaker 2: want to start teaching how to write a pilot class.
- 43:57Speaker 4: That's so great and camera.
- 43:58Speaker 7: I just want to really instill you're one of the
- 44:00Speaker 7: funniest people and there's no way you don't have a
- 44:04Speaker 7: future in this industry.
- 44:05Speaker 4: There's no way.
- 44:07Speaker 7: Your comedy partner, Ashley Gronto, I don't know about her,
- 44:09Speaker 7: maybe cut her loose.
- 44:11Speaker 4: So sweet, but so sweet.
- 44:14Speaker 3: And she's so organized.
- 44:16Speaker 4: You don't think you think Ashley's organized. I don't know
- 44:19Speaker 4: about organizing.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Really organized.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Actually sends me spreadsheets when we when she was she
- 44:24Speaker 1: would write her characters in writer lab in Excel sheets
- 44:30Speaker 1: and it was really impressive, Like it was amazing.
- 44:33Speaker 5: I see that stuff all day.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Is now Ashley you're talking about, Yeah, your partner, the
- 44:38Speaker 2: nervous one because I improvised with so many girls. And
- 44:41Speaker 2: that's what I also want to talk about. I want
- 44:43Speaker 2: to talk about the difference in gender and how the
- 44:48Speaker 2: numbers are shifting, right, numbers are shifting, Like our Poppy
- 44:51Speaker 2: team used to have one girl a team and thank god,
- 44:54Speaker 2: now there's two.
- 44:56Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's like it's really and thank you guys
- 44:58Speaker 3: so much for giving me the to talk about this,
- 45:01Speaker 3: like you guys are truly some of the good ones,
- 45:04Speaker 3: like like everything really can and yeah, I would say, like,
- 45:11Speaker 3: I mean it's good, Like, don't get me wrong, it's
- 45:14Speaker 3: great that like more women are doing this and it
- 45:16Speaker 3: it's but it's like it's also awesome to like be
- 45:20Speaker 3: on a team with like a bunch of your big brothers,
- 45:22Speaker 3: you know what I mean. Friday Friday, Yeah, I feel
- 45:25Speaker 3: like a lot safer, just like rolling up to a
- 45:28Speaker 3: bar with everybody at Friday Friday behind me. You know,
- 45:32Speaker 3: it's like I just feel protected and I just like
- 45:34Speaker 3: I never had a big brother, and I.
- 45:35Speaker 6: Feel that about girls. I love improvising with girls.
- 45:38Speaker 4: You really seem.
- 45:40Speaker 1: To have the opposite opinions of almost every other person
- 45:43Speaker 1: I improvise with.
- 45:45Speaker 5: Really, and I'm really look, I'm in court. I hear
- 45:47Speaker 5: different points all the time.
- 45:49Speaker 1: People playing Devil's advocates for some awful things all night
- 45:52Speaker 1: nobody likes.
- 45:54Speaker 3: I mean, I don't like any of these things. I mean,
- 45:57Speaker 3: don't get me wrong, they're all problems, But I just
- 46:00Speaker 3: like think change would be like why would we do that?
- 46:05Speaker 5: Right?
- 46:06Speaker 2: So you could be excluded from teams because maybe you're
- 46:09Speaker 2: not good enough you haven't taken enough classes or because
- 46:12Speaker 2: of your gender, and you think no change.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Nobody should ever be excluded. I just like, I don't
- 46:18Speaker 3: know if you guys get like it's like it should
- 46:20Speaker 3: just be made up of people who like get it,
- 46:23Speaker 3: sure to get it.
- 46:25Speaker 7: I just wish it in my in my world, I
- 46:27Speaker 7: wish more girls would show up to the indie space because.
- 46:30Speaker 4: They're just yeah, they show up.
- 46:32Speaker 7: Usually one of the guys scares them off and then
- 46:35Speaker 7: they go and they're.
- 46:36Speaker 3: Yeah, they're scary.
- 46:37Speaker 4: I will admit there's a lot.
- 46:38Speaker 5: Well.
- 46:38Speaker 2: I mean, I don't blame them. I was once I
- 46:41Speaker 2: saw a scene I saw. I was at the clubhouse
- 46:44Speaker 2: and I saw two guys doing a scene and a
- 46:45Speaker 2: girl went to swipe at it and they didn't see
- 46:48Speaker 2: her know that.
- 46:48Speaker 4: They said no, they said no.
- 46:50Speaker 8: Wow.
- 46:50Speaker 4: Yeah, they said no, we're not done here.
- 46:55Speaker 8: I know.
- 46:55Speaker 6: And it's just like, I don't want my girlfriend to
- 46:57Speaker 6: watch that stuff. Yeah, saw my shows. Do you guys
- 47:01Speaker 6: have significant others? Do they go to your shows?
- 47:03Speaker 5: I have a wife. She came to the first year
- 47:04Speaker 5: of shows and then she hasn't since. But it was
- 47:07Speaker 5: so nice for her to come.
- 47:08Speaker 1: If there's a big one she'll maybe come out, like
- 47:10Speaker 1: when when I play with a crazy Uncle Joe show.
- 47:13Speaker 5: Every now and then a groundling, she'll come by.
- 47:15Speaker 4: Wow, So you're literally on every show in Hollywood.
- 47:19Speaker 6: I guess, yeah, you've been on Poppy.
- 47:21Speaker 5: When they ask me I haven't done Poppy, I did.
- 47:24Speaker 5: I did the senior version of Poppy.
- 47:27Speaker 6: Oh my god, Wow, you've done everything.
- 47:30Speaker 5: Yeah, because I told you I was friends with people
- 47:31Speaker 5: that started the e SEC.
- 47:33Speaker 6: So it's incredible. I've just been around them. An old fart.
- 47:36Speaker 1: I'm an old fart with nothing to do at night
- 47:38Speaker 1: that I sometimes I don't want to go home because
- 47:40Speaker 1: I'm so caught up in my own feelings after seeing somebody.
- 47:44Speaker 5: Who I know is innocent spend a life in jail, like.
- 47:47Speaker 4: We gotta pull from that.
- 47:48Speaker 10: We gotta pull from that.
- 47:49Speaker 7: Okay, all right, cut to the courtroom, A.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Sware, no, what you gotta spend your whole life in jail?
- 48:04Speaker 4: That was really funny.
- 48:06Speaker 3: That was really funny.
- 48:06Speaker 12: That was really I will say there was really funny.
- 48:10Speaker 6: There was I didn't know where you were? Oh, I mean,
- 48:14Speaker 6: who wear one? And why? Like I knew we were
- 48:16Speaker 6: at the courthouse.
- 48:17Speaker 4: But who, what?
- 48:17Speaker 5: Where?
- 48:18Speaker 7: When?
- 48:18Speaker 4: Why? It's such a school thing for me, and it's
- 48:20Speaker 4: just like.
- 48:20Speaker 3: It's just like, once you get good enough, you could
- 48:22Speaker 3: break the rule.
- 48:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it did feel very real for me because I
- 48:25Speaker 1: didn't I didn't kind of see a comedic lens.
- 48:28Speaker 4: I thought it was really funny.
- 48:30Speaker 3: I thought it was really funny.
- 48:31Speaker 4: I mean, the idea, you should come play a show
- 48:32Speaker 4: with me, that'd be really fun.
- 48:34Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, let's do it.
- 48:35Speaker 4: Let's so, let's definitely do it.
- 48:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you're you host? What do you host?
- 48:39Speaker 4: I host Electric Electric?
- 48:41Speaker 7: It goes up at one am to four am, and
- 48:45Speaker 7: at four am the jam starts, So you can come
- 48:47Speaker 7: at any time.
- 48:48Speaker 4: I'll get you out and.
- 48:48Speaker 6: We can What do you guys do tomorrow? I'll tell
- 48:51Speaker 6: you what I'm doing.
- 48:51Speaker 2: I'm waking up at six am to pick up shopping
- 48:53Speaker 2: carts and then I'm picking twenty people's brain one.
- 48:56Speaker 6: After the other. Do you guys have to pick people's brains?
- 49:02Speaker 5: Yeah, that's just not anymore. My brain gets picked at
- 49:05Speaker 5: this point. For sure. I used to pick brains because
- 49:07Speaker 5: I used to learn so much, don't you love?
- 49:10Speaker 2: I will see the improv community is so good about
- 49:11Speaker 2: like learning from each other.
- 49:13Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure, for sure, and learning not what not
- 49:16Speaker 4: to do?
- 49:16Speaker 3: Yeah for Suah, well, tomorrow I'm getting up in the
- 49:20Speaker 3: morning and literally, shoot me, I'm gonna film a TikTok?
- 49:26Speaker 6: Oh my what for anti prison?
- 49:30Speaker 3: Uh No, it's just like I'm trying to, like, you know,
- 49:35Speaker 3: do that horrible shitty thing that everyone's doing right now,
- 49:38Speaker 3: and like it's like it's so not funny.
- 49:42Speaker 5: I think I seeing your TikTok's being shared. You you
- 49:44Speaker 5: started doing it during the pandemic, right.
- 49:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I'm doing I started doing it. Yeah, but
- 49:51Speaker 3: it's like I'm rolling my eyes the whole time. Like
- 49:53Speaker 3: it's like it's not fun as long as you have
- 49:57Speaker 3: like five hundred thousand whoa. But it's like, literally, shoot me.
- 50:03Speaker 2: That's insane that you wouldn't like that, because I would
- 50:06Speaker 2: love that.
- 50:09Speaker 3: I mean it's just like it's not all it's cracked
- 50:12Speaker 3: up to be. It's actually so annoying.
- 50:14Speaker 5: Different people killing different things.
- 50:16Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, it's just yeah, it's so weird to
- 50:19Speaker 2: hear that it bothers you because.
- 50:20Speaker 8: That's my dream.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Well, I mean you could do.
- 50:23Speaker 6: It, do you think?
- 50:24Speaker 5: Do you have any ideas for video?
- 50:26Speaker 4: Yeah? You have any ideas, Kim.
- 50:27Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe we can bounce them around.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, all let me think of some ideas.
- 50:34Speaker 2: This is okay, okay, I was thinking about.
- 50:40Speaker 4: I was thinking, no, say it, go ahead.
- 50:44Speaker 5: Nothing.
- 50:45Speaker 6: I was thinking about doing a British character.
- 50:49Speaker 4: That's really funny.
- 50:51Speaker 7: The bong goes, Oh that's great, that's great.
- 50:54Speaker 3: That's really great.
- 50:55Speaker 6: Is that funny?
- 50:56Speaker 7: I saw your friend Ashley Gronto doing videos. I gotta
- 51:00Speaker 7: say they were not good.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Hey, we've talked about Ashley a lot, and I feel
- 51:05Speaker 1: like we don't necessarily need to be ragged on her.
- 51:07Speaker 8: Man.
- 51:08Speaker 3: I think we all know what Ashley's deal is. I
- 51:11Speaker 3: think it's like she's in that category of people who
- 51:14Speaker 3: are making and I'm in it too, making awful content,
- 51:18Speaker 3: just like throw up, pissed, barf content. No, but she's
- 51:24Speaker 3: a lovely girl. She's so organized.
- 51:26Speaker 4: Yeah, she tries so hard.
- 51:28Speaker 5: Okay, we organized. She's really nice.
- 51:30Speaker 6: Who's your guys' dream career?
- 51:36Speaker 5: Atticus Finch to Kill a Mockingbird? Oh?
- 51:41Speaker 4: You want to? You wanna be in it?
- 51:43Speaker 5: No? No, I want to like do what he does.
- 51:45Speaker 1: Like I thought he was like a really bold, cool guy,
- 51:47Speaker 1: fought interesting, but fought for the right thing a hard time.
- 51:50Speaker 4: And who is he?
- 51:51Speaker 5: He's a lawyer from To Kill a Mockingbird, a book
- 51:53Speaker 5: by Harper Lee. I'm not familiar with classic. You guys
- 51:56Speaker 5: read a.
- 51:57Speaker 1: Lot, No, no, And you guys didn't read in school?
- 52:02Speaker 8: No, no, I don't read.
- 52:08Speaker 6: Okay, we cut to that school?
- 52:10Speaker 4: What school?
- 52:14Speaker 5: What school?
- 52:14Speaker 4: A school?
- 52:15Speaker 5: Or they didn't read? Is that the premise?
- 52:17Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 52:19Speaker 1: Okay, cut to it. Then I'm confused why we keep
- 52:21Speaker 1: cutting to real things. I'm about to talk to you
- 52:23Speaker 1: guys about something genuine, and then we're cutting way every time.
- 52:25Speaker 4: But try it, but try it, but try it?
- 52:27Speaker 5: Okay, welcome to the school? Or nobody reads good?
- 52:31Speaker 4: What do you mean?
- 52:32Speaker 6: I might give notes? I'd say you came in too strong.
- 52:36Speaker 5: What I don't guys?
- 52:40Speaker 1: I think you guys need to figure out your work
- 52:42Speaker 1: life balance. And I think you need to treat improvit
- 52:44Speaker 1: like work because it's not play, because you guys are
- 52:46Speaker 1: treating it too seriously.
- 52:49Speaker 6: Really you think, yeah?
- 52:51Speaker 5: I think so. I think you got to give a
- 52:52Speaker 5: little more perspective.
- 52:53Speaker 6: What do you think happens if we take it too seriously?
- 52:55Speaker 6: We don't get better, We just what happens?
- 52:57Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 52:58Speaker 5: I think you lose yourself.
- 53:00Speaker 6: And all you do is talk about improv.
- 53:02Speaker 12: Yeah, that's all you do, spend your free time, just
- 53:06Speaker 12: spending my whole life like it's just flashing before my
- 53:09Speaker 12: eyes where it's just like I'm at the clubhouse, I'm
- 53:13Speaker 12: at UCB.
- 53:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I go to a bar.
- 53:16Speaker 3: I come home, I talk about improv. I think about improv,
- 53:20Speaker 3: and then I go to bed, and then I wake up,
- 53:23Speaker 3: and then it happens again.
- 53:25Speaker 1: And I tell you what, You're gonna do that over
- 53:26Speaker 1: and over and over again, and then you're gonna turn
- 53:28Speaker 1: forty five years old, and it's gonna get harder to
- 53:30Speaker 1: get out of bed, and it's gonna get harder to
- 53:32Speaker 1: go to.
- 53:32Speaker 6: Sleep because my knees are so old.
- 53:37Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 53:40Speaker 6: Sorry, At this point of the hour, I get crazy.
- 53:45Speaker 5: It's noon.
- 53:48Speaker 6: I literally just woke up.
- 53:52Speaker 8: I don't think that's gonna happen to man, what I
- 53:57Speaker 8: don't think that's gonna happen to me?
- 54:00Speaker 5: All Right, guys, you want to bonner?
- 54:06Speaker 8: They want to see my big bonner.
- 54:09Speaker 3: Ah, not today, Frankie. You're always pulling out your big
- 54:13Speaker 3: boner at the taco bell.
- 54:14Speaker 4: That's so funny. That's really you should.
- 54:17Speaker 6: Write a sketch about that.
- 54:17Speaker 5: It's really good. Do you think No, it's really good.
- 54:20Speaker 5: Maybe before we gets are on the right path, it's
- 54:23Speaker 5: really good. Guys.
- 54:24Speaker 6: Do you wish you were at a roundtable of lawyers?
- 54:27Speaker 1: No, First of all, it wouldn't be a roundtable, would
- 54:30Speaker 1: be a long table, and it would be a big dinner.
- 54:33Speaker 5: It would be boring as f.
- 54:35Speaker 2: It feels like you don't like either, or you're just
- 54:37Speaker 2: like bragging about one to talk to you about the.
- 54:41Speaker 5: Ragging about going to court all the time. I'm sorry, No,
- 54:45Speaker 5: I'm just saying like, I don't know.
- 54:47Speaker 1: I guess I see myself and you guys, I was
- 54:49Speaker 1: really into improv in the beginning.
- 54:51Speaker 4: Oh really, like what years?
- 54:53Speaker 5: What changed twenty thirteen to twenty sixteen.
- 54:58Speaker 3: It's crazy, You're just like, really he did exactly.
- 55:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 55:01Speaker 1: I did really want to do all the stuff, and
- 55:03Speaker 1: then I realized, uh, well made me feel empty, so
- 55:07Speaker 1: sort of doing other things.
- 55:09Speaker 4: That's crazy, because like improv is the only thing that
- 55:11Speaker 4: brings me any happiness.
- 55:13Speaker 5: Hold on to that.
- 55:14Speaker 3: No, you know what, I'm gonna change my life right now.
- 55:17Speaker 5: Oh well that's that's du You don't have to change this.
- 55:21Speaker 3: I'm going to change my life right now.
- 55:22Speaker 4: What are you gonna donna do?
- 55:24Speaker 3: I'm gonna quit. I'm gonna quit.
- 55:27Speaker 4: You put your on mess hull in mad, don't quit.
- 55:29Speaker 3: I gotta quit.
- 55:31Speaker 4: You want I would love to be on those teams.
- 55:33Speaker 8: Don't quit.
- 55:35Speaker 3: I'm gonna quit. And then I'm just gonna like fly
- 55:39Speaker 3: to Oregon and I'm gonna like become like a I'm
- 55:43Speaker 3: gonna do wolfing. That's what I'm gonna I'm gonna do
- 55:46Speaker 3: something fucking crazy. I'm gonna quit. I'm going to quit
- 55:50Speaker 3: my place on two house teams and I'm gonna go
- 55:53Speaker 3: wolf And you know what, I'm gonna come back enlightened,
- 55:56Speaker 3: and I think I'm gonna come back better than everyone here.
- 55:59Speaker 5: And what are you doing? You come back?
- 56:01Speaker 3: What do I do when I come back?
- 56:02Speaker 5: Yeah, you're gonna go off. You're gonna do that, and
- 56:04Speaker 5: you're gonna come back? What are you gonna do?
- 56:05Speaker 4: Well?
- 56:06Speaker 3: Then I go right back on stage to improv. No,
- 56:09Speaker 3: oh my god, oh my god.
- 56:13Speaker 6: Wait, this is making me a tad bit spiral.
- 56:16Speaker 3: Well, but I we shouldn't spiral. We shouldn't be skirl.
- 56:19Speaker 2: Here's my thing is the thing besides uh doing improv,
- 56:22Speaker 2: what I do is I pick brains. So if I
- 56:24Speaker 2: can't pick someone's brain at coffee. Then if I can't
- 56:28Speaker 2: do improv, then why would I pick their brain at coffee?
- 56:30Speaker 6: You know what I mean?
- 56:31Speaker 3: Oh, because you're pulling for them to be characters on
- 56:34Speaker 3: stage later.
- 56:35Speaker 6: And I'm trying to like learn about the system. So
- 56:37Speaker 6: what the heck do I do? That's it. I'm gonna quit.
- 56:40Speaker 4: What are you gonna do?
- 56:42Speaker 2: I'm gonna freaking quit, And I'm gonna smoke weed and
- 56:47Speaker 2: steal catalytic converters.
- 56:50Speaker 6: That's what I'm gonna freaking do, and I'm gonna sell
- 56:53Speaker 6: them all right.
- 56:55Speaker 7: This is actually making me spiral, like I've never thought
- 56:58Speaker 7: of improv like this.
- 56:59Speaker 4: And I think I'm gonna quit.
- 57:01Speaker 7: I think I'm gonna quit hosting one of my shows,
- 57:04Speaker 7: maybe the one at seven years. Don't hang it all up,
- 57:07Speaker 7: I'm gonna quit hosting one of my shows, the one
- 57:09Speaker 7: at seven am.
- 57:10Speaker 5: But haven't you been doing that for five years?
- 57:12Speaker 4: Five years?
- 57:13Speaker 6: It's everybody plays on Mollie.
- 57:16Speaker 7: Everybody plays on Mollie, and it's well, basically what it
- 57:19Speaker 7: is is every I let all the teams bring however
- 57:22Speaker 7: many peple they bring at seven am, and they're on
- 57:24Speaker 7: their team, they get a certain amount of time and
- 57:28Speaker 7: a certain amount of molly and so basically you're seeing
- 57:31Speaker 7: these great It's about about a minute of per person.
- 57:36Speaker 7: So if your team is four people, you get four
- 57:39Speaker 7: milligrams of Mollie and four minutes to play and it crushes.
- 57:43Speaker 7: And then at the end that goes on for about
- 57:45Speaker 7: an hour and a half. But you have to stay
- 57:47Speaker 7: the whole time. You have to stay the whole time,
- 57:49Speaker 7: otherwise next time you can't come back. And at the
- 57:52Speaker 7: end of the hour and a half, then I invite
- 57:54Speaker 7: one person, one of my friends, it could be one
- 57:56Speaker 7: of you, to do an hour and a half slow
- 57:58Speaker 7: play mono scene together.
- 58:00Speaker 6: So you're gonna quit that show.
- 58:02Speaker 4: You're gonna get No not talking about it.
- 58:04Speaker 7: I think it's just such a it's such a good
- 58:06Speaker 7: pinnacle in the scene, you know.
- 58:07Speaker 4: I think it should stay.
- 58:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't want to spiral you. I was throwing
- 58:11Speaker 1: my own garbage onto all of you.
- 58:13Speaker 5: Do your thing. I think all of you maybe love
- 58:15Speaker 5: this community and need this community. Don't let me change
- 58:17Speaker 5: it for you.
- 58:18Speaker 4: Maybe you should quit being a lawyer, you know what.
- 58:23Speaker 5: Absolutely not.
- 58:26Speaker 3: Oh my god, I just got an audition to be
- 58:30Speaker 3: in a Snapchat commercial for dunkin donuts. Could you ask
- 58:35Speaker 3: them if the greatest comedic mind of our generation?
- 58:38Speaker 6: Could you ask if I can come?
- 58:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's like on Actors' Access.
- 58:45Speaker 2: I feel like we need to help each other out.
- 58:47Speaker 2: We should all do this, can we all? We should
- 58:50Speaker 2: all go to the audio.
- 58:51Speaker 4: I would if it's a group one, that'd be fun.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it's kind of solo. I would talk to your
- 58:55Speaker 3: agents and see if there's something that they can do.
- 58:59Speaker 6: I mean, but you're the greatest. That's that's really cool
- 59:03Speaker 6: what you said. I believe you are the greatest.
- 59:05Speaker 1: I don't I don't do commercials after my toastedos campaign.
