- 0:13Speaker 1: Hey guys, welcome to another episode of Eating While Broke.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I'm your host, Colleen Witt, and today we have very
- 0:19Speaker 1: special guest actor, comedian, writer, producer Chris Spencer is in
- 0:23Speaker 1: the building along with his I love that along with
- 0:28Speaker 1: his business partner Sean Elliott from Elliott Brothers presents Comedy
- 0:34Speaker 1: Block Party. I can't forget the comedy block Party. I've
- 0:37Speaker 1: been to them. They're pretty amazing, full of energy. It's
- 0:40Speaker 1: like a family. It literally feels like a block party,
- 0:44Speaker 1: but very fair. You can feel the love in the
- 0:46Speaker 1: It's not like your traditional comedy show, and you feel
- 0:50Speaker 1: like it's all family.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Correct.
- 0:52Speaker 1: But tell me what you guys were eating when you
- 0:55Speaker 1: were broke.
- 0:58Speaker 2: To start our famous burnt ballooney sound. I like everything
- 1:07Speaker 2: well done.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I like that Chris isn't burnt because he's cooking for
- 1:11Speaker 1: us today.
- 1:13Speaker 3: That's what's great about this. You get to pick what
- 1:16Speaker 3: you want. Yes, he likes his burnt around the edges.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yes, I like my medium, well.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Medium, well, so the ingredients are what for the.
- 1:26Speaker 3: There's good old American singles. Pick a card and we
- 1:33Speaker 3: got some good old fashioned I always wondered why they
- 1:36Speaker 3: said balloonee and it's really bologna. It's really bologna. And
- 1:42Speaker 3: so we got this. I hope I don't die eating it.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's how I feel.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I never knew what was in it. Here we go chicken,
- 1:49Speaker 3: pork and beef added added to what? So that mean
- 1:53Speaker 3: this was something else? And then they said, you know what,
- 1:56Speaker 3: let's posed to meet in there. This is what we see.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I have a feel and it's just the remains of
- 2:01Speaker 1: whatever animals that were. Nah, you know what, it's funny.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I don't eat beef, So I'm taking one for team.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I love how you were specific about the wonderbread. Yes,
- 2:11Speaker 1: I wasn't too sure if they still made it. They
- 2:15Speaker 1: we found it, Yes, And then and then you asked
- 2:18Speaker 1: for dorito and pool aids so you could go ahead
- 2:22Speaker 1: and start. I feel like I'm back.
- 2:24Speaker 3: It's a metrosexual that we wanted to see a pitcher
- 2:30Speaker 3: career and some water and but is it a pound
- 2:34Speaker 3: of sugar? That was the whole fun then, and so yeah,
- 2:37Speaker 3: so I guess I'll get started in some capacity.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yeah, get started.
- 2:40Speaker 3: We didn't have an electric solve when we were broke.
- 2:42Speaker 1: That okay, So take me back to what air is
- 2:46Speaker 1: the sandwiches.
- 2:47Speaker 3: We grew up aniga with California, and I once saw
- 2:50Speaker 3: a map of LA and it broke down comped in
- 2:53Speaker 3: Long Beach and how everybody situated. And it made me
- 2:56Speaker 3: laugh because it said Inglewood was gang bangers with both parents.
- 3:03Speaker 3: That's what it said on the mountain said gang beggers
- 3:05Speaker 3: were both there. So we grew up in Englewood, which
- 3:07Speaker 3: was segregated by middle class, upper middle class, and then
- 3:13Speaker 3: we had an area called the Bottoms, which was anything
- 3:17Speaker 3: you wanted you could get in the bottoms, from cocaine
- 3:19Speaker 3: to firecrackers. And so we all went to school together.
- 3:22Speaker 3: We all loved each other and didn't love each other,
- 3:25Speaker 3: and that's just how we grew up. So you would
- 3:27Speaker 3: think somebody who lived in what we would call the
- 3:30Speaker 3: avenues where we lived might have been some punks, but no,
- 3:33Speaker 3: because they had to prove something more to the people
- 3:35Speaker 3: who lived in the bottoms, because you'd get tested.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Wow, wow, So is this sandwich air from high school?
- 3:44Speaker 3: This is from high school. You come home, you want
- 3:46Speaker 3: something to eat, right, you want something to eat, and
- 3:50Speaker 3: your mama ain't gonna necessarily make you something to eat.
- 3:53Speaker 3: So this comes from that era when you come home
- 3:55Speaker 3: and then also after you move out of the house
- 3:59Speaker 3: your mamma, you don't you don't have money to necessarily
- 4:02Speaker 3: buy something, so you get something like meat with added
- 4:08Speaker 3: you have you have a material with added meat. Here
- 4:12Speaker 3: we go story to get hot. I'm glad you got butter.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah. See that's what I see. Sean was saying you
- 4:19Speaker 1: needed oil.
- 4:20Speaker 3: I'm as good.
- 4:22Speaker 2: But butter's funnier because I was still making it maybe
- 4:26Speaker 2: four months ago. I get hungry and go to the
- 4:29Speaker 2: ghost like I'm craving up a lonely sound and go
- 4:31Speaker 2: get it. Yeah.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Is it like a comfort meal for you?
- 4:35Speaker 3: Now?
- 4:36Speaker 2: Nah? It just bring back some memories. And it was
- 4:38Speaker 2: set up with a cook nine minutes you done?
- 4:40Speaker 3: Did y'all do your butter like this?
- 4:42Speaker 1: I do butter like that. Every day I cook. I
- 4:44Speaker 1: probably go through ten sticks of butter a week.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Unsalty, no salted.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 4:50Speaker 1: A lot of people don't know if your food tastes
- 4:52Speaker 1: really good, it has a lot of butter in it.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So if you go to a restaurant and you're like, dang,
- 4:56Speaker 1: this taste.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Unsalted butter, yes, you might as well put vasseline unsalted.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Love All right, I ain't done this in a whiles.
- 5:05Speaker 3: I do know the bologney was first.
- 5:07Speaker 2: God, this is gonna cut it.
- 5:10Speaker 1: When was the last time you ate this?
- 5:12Speaker 2: What year is this? How old are you?
- 5:16Speaker 1: I'm forty.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Where here are you born?
- 5:17Speaker 1: Eighty four?
- 5:18Speaker 3: That's the last time I had eighty four? Eighty four? Yes,
- 5:23Speaker 3: that's when he graduated high school. All right, I'm gonna
- 5:26Speaker 3: act like I'm being requisite with a knife. Oh my god, usually, Chris, Yes,
- 5:36Speaker 3: Oh my god. I feel like I'm in jail right now.
- 5:39Speaker 3: I to jail, never to jail. But I think this
- 5:41Speaker 3: is what they ate too. Usually what you want this
- 5:44Speaker 3: to get a little hotter, But electrics don't get as
- 5:48Speaker 3: hot as the regular gas though. But I'm gonna put
- 5:51Speaker 3: it in there. I know you said only make two,
- 5:53Speaker 3: so you could only have a little bite because I
- 5:55Speaker 3: know you're a pescatarian or scorpio or something. We're gonna
- 5:59Speaker 3: make three because it's three of them.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Go for it.
- 6:03Speaker 2: He didn't cut the splits in them.
- 6:05Speaker 3: You cut the split when it gets right, when it raises.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Remember you cut yours early. No, the funnest seeing in bubble.
- 6:13Speaker 3: If you cut it now, I ain't gonna bubble. Yeah,
- 6:15Speaker 3: we'll steal are we gonna cut yours? What is yours?
- 6:19Speaker 2: Here? You cut it?
- 6:20Speaker 3: It ain't gon bubble, I don't think. Well, I'm sorry.
- 6:23Speaker 3: He oh. On the side, you're making a little tent.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I know it's supposed to have a bubble in it, right.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that's gonna make it bubble. So now, but we're
- 6:34Speaker 2: using electric, so it might be different. Then with the
- 6:36Speaker 2: gas we turn this.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Up a little hotter.
- 6:39Speaker 1: You guys are funny.
- 6:40Speaker 3: All right, I'll put some splits in the shop. I
- 6:42Speaker 3: thought you mean split the top or he Oh.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Now you take a cooking advice from Sean.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Sean's older than me.
- 6:50Speaker 2: He give me all the time. You know. He a writer,
- 6:52Speaker 2: so I can say something another way and he'll say, oh,
- 6:55Speaker 2: you really meant to say this, but you just changed words.
- 6:58Speaker 2: That's how you got me last.
- 7:01Speaker 3: I said that for last.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Night when I told you you said we're not gonna
- 7:05Speaker 2: use that certain word.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I said, we're gonna do the act. Shant
- 7:08Speaker 3: is a trickster. You'd be like, stop asking me for sugar.
- 7:11Speaker 3: He'd be like, okay, he said. Then they'll say do
- 7:14Speaker 3: you have any sure? So did you just say sugar
- 7:16Speaker 3: and Spanish? That's the same thing.
- 7:19Speaker 1: So take me back. You guys were high school friends.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Or elementary elementary just since the seventies.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Did you guys know you always wanted to get into
- 7:30Speaker 1: entertainment and business?
- 7:31Speaker 3: Absolutely not, No, this didn't happen until late I started
- 7:35Speaker 3: doing comedy in college. I went to UCLA and it
- 7:40Speaker 3: still does rise. Can we get a zoom?
- 7:43Speaker 1: I guess we used to have the overheads, but.
- 7:44Speaker 2: We removed damn it.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Neil took it. I started doing comedy in college, and
- 7:50Speaker 3: so it was after college did I started doing traveling,
- 7:55Speaker 3: acting movies, directing, producing a couple of comedies and then
- 8:01Speaker 3: and Sean and Derek would always come to my shows.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Right, we followed him. Seany was taking it from here
- 8:06Speaker 2: because as we followed him from Usel followed him from
- 8:11Speaker 2: UCLA to everywhere he went. When he was hanging Jacoline Sundays,
- 8:16Speaker 2: when he was hanging with the WANs, we would go
- 8:18Speaker 2: to their house and play basketball with him. We was everywhere.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Chris was everywhere?
- 8:24Speaker 1: Now was that as just you guys just wanted to
- 8:26Speaker 1: show him that you supported him? Or why were you guy?
- 8:29Speaker 2: We was brothers from the beginning. We grew up on
- 8:31Speaker 2: the same street in Inglewood, And when Chris moved to
- 8:33Speaker 2: win in eighty three, my mom still took us to
- 8:36Speaker 2: his house every weekend in SOUTHLK in Pasadena.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Y'alldn't used to drive, Nope, not at that time.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I remember. And then my cousin Melinda, she started taking
- 8:45Speaker 2: us over chris house because she had a crust on
- 8:47Speaker 2: Chris and I wanted our friends. My cousin Melnda that
- 8:50Speaker 2: had the blue.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Camer you why are you actually you just found this
- 8:53Speaker 1: out right now?
- 8:55Speaker 3: She had a crush. I would have did it to her.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yeah, so she started driving us from Pasadena.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and you had no idea this.
- 9:05Speaker 3: I don't even know Melanda is. I can't remember Melinda
- 9:07Speaker 3: she got she.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Was older than us. No, it was Melinda, but she
- 9:09Speaker 2: grew up on one hundred and six off of Western.
- 9:12Speaker 3: I can't remember.
- 9:13Speaker 2: It was her dad was seeing me, the skinny dude
- 9:15Speaker 2: that used to be over there with my dad, the
- 9:17Speaker 2: tall skinny one.
- 9:18Speaker 3: They had the best house because their family would cook
- 9:21Speaker 3: every weekend, and there'd be so many cousins and uncles
- 9:25Speaker 3: and I would kiss all his cousins.
- 9:27Speaker 2: It was great. And Chris would go to San Digga
- 9:31Speaker 2: with us every time we went. Yeah to my mom said.
- 9:34Speaker 3: It was always fun. I'd have any brothers him, Derek
- 9:36Speaker 3: and as a younger brother. Junior actually was the impetus
- 9:39Speaker 3: for Comedy Black Party, which shining to get into later
- 9:41Speaker 3: got turned over.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Now, yeah, they would have spat right there. Oh so
- 9:47Speaker 2: growing up on the same street in Inglewood, we just
- 9:51Speaker 2: immediately clicked. We was brothers, you know, and then came
- 9:54Speaker 2: about our sister. My sister young.
- 9:56Speaker 3: But I had no brothers. So whatever they did, boy,
- 9:58Speaker 3: I was down there doing you know.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I mean, okay, I love how you guys all stayed
- 10:03Speaker 1: together through the whole.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Oh yeah, we're talking over forty. I'm fifty seven, you
- 10:08Speaker 3: fifty nine, fifty years.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Wow, that's amazing. So you're doing Comedy Brothers.
- 10:16Speaker 3: One stand up and then his brother passed away, and
- 10:20Speaker 3: then we wanted to do it wasn't a benefit, but
- 10:24Speaker 3: something in commemoration of Junior's death. And then that's when
- 10:27Speaker 3: Sean and Derek came up with Comedy Black Party.
- 10:31Speaker 2: How it really came up with comedy block party.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Oh, let's get a twenty second time. Usually I put
- 10:35Speaker 3: the cheese on now right, no flip it over. You
- 10:38Speaker 3: have done some more Oh that's yours.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Yeah, Sean wants he wants black and blow it. Yeah,
- 10:45Speaker 2: it's not doing you accurse. You got to wait till
- 10:47Speaker 2: that middle start beginning.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Remember, I'm not broken anymore. It does smell good, right,
- 10:56Speaker 3: it does.
- 10:57Speaker 2: It does, but us so it's about two more minutes.
- 11:00Speaker 2: It'll be great.
- 11:01Speaker 3: And then are we gonna make it like we're gonna
- 11:04Speaker 3: make it an oppresses what they call it now?
- 11:05Speaker 2: But no, you just put the cheese on the bread.
- 11:08Speaker 1: You wait, We're not gonna put it in the.
- 11:12Speaker 2: You put the cheese on the bread.
- 11:14Speaker 1: And I'm trusting y'all. I don't know.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I'm telling you. I'm trusting them too. No, because it
- 11:19Speaker 2: is stick. The cheese is stick to the skillet, so
- 11:21Speaker 2: you don't need that. Boy.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Good, But I'm talking about don't you toast the bread?
- 11:25Speaker 3: No?
- 11:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that one looks.
- 11:26Speaker 2: That one is good. That that one looks. That's how
- 11:28Speaker 2: I supposed to look, dude.
- 11:29Speaker 3: So I can put this on your on my.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Bread yep, and then give them a slice of cheese
- 11:33Speaker 2: yepos and then that's.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Gonna milk anyway, right yep?
- 11:38Speaker 2: Bam.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Yeah, look at that and it looks like tank camera
- 11:43Speaker 3: like shine yep, okay, man, can have your plate. Look
- 11:48Speaker 3: it up. This actually smells really good.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Doesn't make you want to go home and have one.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Don't think about it when you get home on the
- 11:55Speaker 2: late night.
- 11:56Speaker 3: This is quick and it's feeling there. We go bamn nice.
- 12:01Speaker 1: So wait, we're not going to toast the bread.
- 12:03Speaker 3: At all, y'all.
- 12:05Speaker 2: But that's your personal that's your person.
- 12:07Speaker 3: But I could put that on there and press it
- 12:09Speaker 3: and make it like that's what I used to do.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Mine would be like a grilled cheese. You want the
- 12:15Speaker 3: cold white bread?
- 12:15Speaker 2: Yeah, mine is good right here?
- 12:17Speaker 1: Yeah okay, so me and you, yeah, we're on the
- 12:20Speaker 1: same page.
- 12:22Speaker 2: So how I came up with comedy block party was
- 12:26Speaker 2: Chris was hosting and we didn't to carry names and
- 12:30Speaker 2: inside jokes.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Chris, that's the first place inside Joe before the comedy yeh.
- 12:34Speaker 2: At the Chinese Theater, we were like, okay, after each
- 12:38Speaker 2: show we started doing a party. VI I p upstairs.
- 12:41Speaker 2: I was like, man, were giving comedy and we're having
- 12:43Speaker 2: a party. That's what comedy block party came from. Ever
- 12:46Speaker 2: since those parties at the Chinese Theater and we would
- 12:50Speaker 2: do the birthday cakes, everybody start going to party with
- 12:54Speaker 2: us come through the show every show, every show.
- 12:58Speaker 1: And thinking I was like, man, is it every time
- 13:00Speaker 1: I show up that you guys do a birthday.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Cake every every and we used to do a birthday dance,
- 13:07Speaker 3: but now we have so many people on stage it
- 13:09Speaker 3: would take too long. Like before when we were at
- 13:11Speaker 3: the Comedy un and the Chinese Theater, six stay birthdays.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Now it'd be fifteen to twenty people. Our cake used
- 13:18Speaker 3: to be this big. Now it's this whole thing right now.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I saw It's like a yeah, yeah, wow, okay, okay,
- 13:26Speaker 1: that makes sense. So you started at the theater. Now,
- 13:29Speaker 1: how are you guys covering the expenses on all of
- 13:32Speaker 1: that anymore?
- 13:33Speaker 3: No, we have sponsors, shout out a couple of sponsors.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Our sponsors are fifty one twenty entertained.
- 13:40Speaker 3: How you get more money kids?
- 13:42Speaker 2: We have fifty one twenty entertainer K Meets Inc. We
- 13:47Speaker 2: have the Roilroad Group, we have Morris Trucking, the Diamond Bank,
- 13:52Speaker 2: kW Productions, Raw Development, Progressive Parents on the purday.
- 13:58Speaker 1: You remember this is.
- 14:00Speaker 2: They are important vehicle to us moving to different spaces
- 14:05Speaker 2: of where we need to go.
- 14:06Speaker 3: You said, what about jewelers, Diamond Bank, that's Diamond Bank.
- 14:10Speaker 2: So if any of you guys need some jeurery from Valentine's,
- 14:12Speaker 2: they come up Chris Capri at the Diamond Bank downtown
- 14:16Speaker 2: on Hill Street.
- 14:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you this as a just a snippets
- 14:20Speaker 1: on the show them, all right, So you're doing that,
- 14:30Speaker 1: you're producing these shows on the regular. You have notable guests.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Yeah, tell them some of the notable guests we have had.
- 14:38Speaker 2: So we had the privilege to partner up with Live
- 14:41Speaker 2: Nation Urban and brought BT Weekend with Live Nation Urban
- 14:46Speaker 2: to the Miracle Theater in Inglewood. We had Michael Blaxing.
- 14:49Speaker 3: You want the toast.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Darker than you or you like it like darker than me.
- 14:53Speaker 2: So we have Michael Blaxing, d Ray, Corey Holcombe, Tiffany Hatters,
- 14:59Speaker 2: Justine Valentine. It was so many people.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Earthquake, CPS, Camacho.
- 15:06Speaker 2: James mcquarie, yes, everybody, name Lynn, Buddy Lewis. It was
- 15:12Speaker 2: so many people.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Corey holcome, you guys do this and any like this
- 15:17Speaker 3: weekend or not knowing when this comes out. We have
- 15:19Speaker 3: Dunnell Rollins. Last month we had Cole. We have Tiffany
- 15:25Speaker 3: Hattish as a regular. What we did what we've done
- 15:28Speaker 3: is brought Bill Bellamy, We brought Hollywood to Inglewood. And
- 15:32Speaker 3: I want to go back to your point where you're
- 15:33Speaker 3: saying it feels like a family everybody, and let me
- 15:36Speaker 3: see not everybody. So if we hold four hundred people,
- 15:39Speaker 3: a hundred of them went to school with us or
- 15:42Speaker 3: or some kind of way our one degree of separation.
- 15:45Speaker 3: So when we say it's a block, it's like a
- 15:47Speaker 3: family block party. And we always and there's always somebody
- 15:51Speaker 3: we haven't seen it. We thought they were dead or
- 15:52Speaker 3: in jail. It'd be like yo when you get out.
- 15:57Speaker 3: And so every time listen, literally I see people from
- 16:00Speaker 3: second grade, third grade, who I was a cup scout with,
- 16:03Speaker 3: who I played at the YMCA with, Darby park Rogers
- 16:06Speaker 3: Parkers from Lawood and every week and then when we
- 16:10Speaker 3: come on stage, so unlike most comedy shows, you can't
- 16:14Speaker 3: really touch the comedians. We're a family environment. Everybody in
- 16:19Speaker 3: there loves each other. Half of them are packing, so
- 16:22Speaker 3: nothing's gonna happen. So so after the show, a lot
- 16:26Speaker 3: of times people come on stage and people have come
- 16:28Speaker 3: up and hug me. It'll be like my seventh grade teacher,
- 16:31Speaker 3: It'll be the pee coach it's really a family environment.
- 16:38Speaker 2: He made a real cheese maloney sounds like, that's all making.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Sure this sandwich looks like, Yeah, that one looks the
- 16:45Speaker 1: right color.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Colleen, that is a real cheese baloney sound.
- 16:49Speaker 3: It's the color of your husband.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Thanks all, you're gonna hook me up.
- 16:54Speaker 3: This is the color of my wife right now.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I need to my wife.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Puerto Rican's Puerto Rican?
- 16:59Speaker 2: Yes?
- 17:00Speaker 1: Did you think I was Puerto Rican?
- 17:01Speaker 3: When first I thought you were other? Thought your Dominican?
- 17:06Speaker 1: Okay, okay, Dominican. I get Dominican, Puerto Rican. Yes, I
- 17:10Speaker 1: get every race because when you're mixed, you're just racially ambiguous.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Exactly depends on city. Went if you're in here, if
- 17:20Speaker 3: you're in New York, they think you're Puerto Rican, you're
- 17:22Speaker 3: in Florida. Is your wife from New York, New York
- 17:26Speaker 3: Puerto Rican?
- 17:28Speaker 1: Okay? Yeah, I already know I would. So take me
- 17:31Speaker 1: back to let's go back to the college days you're
- 17:33Speaker 1: pursuing comedy, Chris, Take me through that journey, because I
- 17:38Speaker 1: want to get closer to you, actor, producer, writer, director.
- 17:43Speaker 3: So taking there's a group of guys on campus that
- 17:45Speaker 3: have a comedy group. Right, so we formed a club.
- 17:49Speaker 3: These guys were comedians and we would do shows for
- 17:53Speaker 3: we started we cut our teeth with the fraternities. The
- 17:55Speaker 3: White friends would have rush Week and they would try
- 17:58Speaker 3: to have they would have prospective place. I just come
- 18:00Speaker 3: in and then they would have entertainment and that would
- 18:02Speaker 3: be me and these group of guys. Suleie McCullough, who
- 18:04Speaker 3: you know from the Jamie Fox Show and Don't be
- 18:06Speaker 3: a Menace and he's a hell of a writer producer,
- 18:09Speaker 3: was my roommate and he was also here's the reason
- 18:11Speaker 3: I actually became a comedian. We were talking with a
- 18:15Speaker 3: group of girls and they're like, what do you want
- 18:17Speaker 3: to do when when you get out of here. I'm
- 18:19Speaker 3: gonna wait, toll get out here. I'm gonna be a
- 18:20Speaker 3: standup comedian. And they were like, oh my god. I
- 18:23Speaker 3: love stand up. I love Eddie Murphy, I love Damon
- 18:27Speaker 3: WANs Oh. And then they're looking at me, they're like,
- 18:30Speaker 3: what about you. I was like, stand up comedian? And
- 18:34Speaker 3: literally that's how I became a stand up comedian because
- 18:36Speaker 3: I saw the attention he got and I was like
- 18:39Speaker 3: I need that attention. And from there we were doing
- 18:42Speaker 3: the friend houses. Then we would do shows on campus,
- 18:45Speaker 3: and then we would have big headliners come on campus
- 18:48Speaker 3: and perform for us. So at the time, Rob Schneider,
- 18:53Speaker 3: Jerry Seinfeld, how are you.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Getting these headliners to perform for you?
- 18:56Speaker 3: Guysla Man, David.
- 19:01Speaker 1: You'll be switching on and off. Yes, hold on, guys,
- 19:03Speaker 1: we're gonna do a sample of this you're cooking before
- 19:06Speaker 1: it gets cold.
- 19:07Speaker 3: You're gonna get a knife shot, I'm gonna pick it up.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Here, here's a knife.
- 19:13Speaker 3: I'm gonna act like I'm still from Inglewood like that.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Oh, you don't cut it either? Okay?
- 19:20Speaker 2: Wow?
- 19:21Speaker 1: Is it good?
- 19:22Speaker 3: It's fantastic.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Doesn't make you want to eat it again?
- 19:26Speaker 2: Absolutely no me. I will be eating it again sometime.
- 19:31Speaker 3: What's missing is the dorridos, though, which I remember when
- 19:39Speaker 3: his brother that was his favorite. There loves blue.
- 19:43Speaker 1: You know, my favorite thing to do since eating while
- 19:45Speaker 1: broke someone I forgot which guests cups chips in their sandwich.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Let me tell you something. I have not been able
- 19:53Speaker 1: to eat a sandwich without chips since anytime. I'm always
- 19:58Speaker 1: looking for a back. Have you tried him? Of course,
- 20:01Speaker 1: it's amazing.
- 20:01Speaker 3: I'm like, what that's what My father, who was Jamaican
- 20:04Speaker 3: like your family. My dad would always put stuff in
- 20:07Speaker 3: other sandwiches. He would put a fish filet and a
- 20:09Speaker 3: big mac.
- 20:11Speaker 1: That sounds like my mom and.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Smash it down like Scooby dooe. I I like the
- 20:17Speaker 3: way you bite that. You don't really like it, kind
- 20:18Speaker 3: of whenever people bite stuff with their front teeth.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I'm not a fan of baloney. Plus, technically it has
- 20:26Speaker 1: beef in it. I don't even beef. I'm sacrificing tails.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Let me tell you something. I'm allergic to beef and
- 20:37Speaker 1: oxtails was the hardest thing that in short rip, it's
- 20:40Speaker 1: the hardest thing to give up. That's the best meats,
- 20:42Speaker 1: and I would sacrifice. I'm like, you know what, if
- 20:45Speaker 1: it I'll be sick, but I'm going to have it.
- 20:47Speaker 1: But now I'm like, no, I'm not doing it anymore.
- 20:49Speaker 3: This meal is sponsored by kool Aid. It ain't the
- 20:53Speaker 3: same kool aid we grew up.
- 20:55Speaker 1: It does taste like sgar free.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Yeah, what do you call it?
- 20:59Speaker 1: Like those sweeteners?
- 20:59Speaker 3: Would you? It was like it's cool added with st Yeah, it's.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Like using it.
- 21:05Speaker 3: It shouldn't be an aftertaste.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, it definitely has it culgar all right? So
- 21:10Speaker 1: do you feel like you're back in your time?
- 21:11Speaker 3: I feel like they say the same blogage I had
- 21:13Speaker 3: grown up.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I literally got the original one. It's an original.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Do you think that's the original one?
- 21:19Speaker 1: That's he eats it more offay.
- 21:23Speaker 2: So, but you know what, I like to go to
- 21:27Speaker 2: the meat market and get the thick one.
- 21:29Speaker 1: So they had the thick cute. I didn't know.
- 21:31Speaker 2: It's not Oscar Mayer. No, it was mine, but it's
- 21:34Speaker 2: the thick one.
- 21:34Speaker 1: They had thick, and I just thought maybe you guys
- 21:36Speaker 1: wanted the original we did?
- 21:38Speaker 3: Did?
- 21:38Speaker 1: That?
- 21:38Speaker 3: Was great job, Great job cooking your blogna sandwich.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Bologna sandwich. I want to see you eat the whole thing.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Chris, Oh, this is delicious. This is the meal.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Sean likes it. Sean really likes it. You got the
- 22:01Speaker 1: kool aid right there.
- 22:03Speaker 3: It needs something it needs. I can't watch a cool.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I feel like it needs something like, not like a
- 22:09Speaker 1: ketchup for some kind of something because it's very dry.
- 22:12Speaker 3: The kool aid is weird.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Do you usually make it like this at home?
- 22:15Speaker 2: Actually, you're supposed to have mayo or miracle whip on it.
- 22:19Speaker 1: One y'all both slipping no dig.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Put it in didn't.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Derek asked me that I want Male America, and I
- 22:27Speaker 3: was like, I don't think I used to put that
- 22:28Speaker 3: in there, but now that I'm tasting it there, that's
- 22:30Speaker 3: what's missing.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's definitely like super Dry.
- 22:33Speaker 3: And now what was miracle whip?
- 22:36Speaker 2: I don't we just love the wear miracle whip taste.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I like Mayo more than a miracle that zing.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I think it's miracle whipping the kool aid.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. So take me back. So you're booking
- 22:50Speaker 1: these guys because it's U C l A. But what
- 22:51Speaker 1: is your pitch to get them? Hey, we don't have
- 22:53Speaker 1: to do anything.
- 22:54Speaker 3: This is this isn't what they weren't. This is pre
- 22:56Speaker 3: Jerry Seinfeld's show. So this is just Jerry Seinfeld. This
- 23:00Speaker 3: is David Spade. I think I don't know if he
- 23:01Speaker 3: had been on Sunday in Life yet life. Yeah, but
- 23:03Speaker 3: these were name headliners. And when you're a comedian, you're
- 23:07Speaker 3: going to perform anywhere and everywhere. That's gonna give you
- 23:10Speaker 3: a check, got it? And so they were coming to
- 23:12Speaker 3: headline our show, so it would be us young guys.
- 23:15Speaker 3: And then said headliner And it was always a treat
- 23:18Speaker 3: because we would have these fend those people would draw
- 23:22Speaker 3: the audience, you know what I mean.
- 23:24Speaker 1: But now, going back, you said you decided on the
- 23:26Speaker 1: whim because of the ladies liked the comedy idea. When
- 23:30Speaker 1: you first start going out, were you going out hitting
- 23:32Speaker 1: home runs right away?
- 23:34Speaker 3: I started off my first show was I was like,
- 23:37Speaker 3: this shit is easy? What is this struggle? They speak up?
- 23:43Speaker 3: And then the second and third show, I was like, oh,
- 23:45Speaker 3: I'm had to write some shit. Yeah, because I'm cursed
- 23:48Speaker 3: and blessed with the same gift, which is my wit,
- 23:51Speaker 3: and so I could just freestyle a whole show. And
- 23:53Speaker 3: so the first show I freestyled and I was like, oh,
- 23:55Speaker 3: this is easy, and the second shot time was oh
- 23:58Speaker 3: I think it was less black people on the show
- 23:59Speaker 3: the next time. So when I said Murray's greens and
- 24:01Speaker 3: they're like, is he talking about oh, I said a
- 24:04Speaker 3: do rag or something. I was a black reference. So
- 24:05Speaker 3: I was like, Oh, now only do I need to
- 24:07Speaker 3: write material. I need to make material less universal because
- 24:11Speaker 3: there's stuff that works in one room that may not
- 24:13Speaker 3: work in any other room. So I need to figure
- 24:14Speaker 3: out stuff that works in all rooms. And then sometimes
- 24:17Speaker 3: if you're in a black room, I'm gonna give them, Yeah,
- 24:21Speaker 3: you know what I mean. But it goes in for
- 24:23Speaker 3: not just the color of our skin. It goes for
- 24:27Speaker 3: whatever the room dictates. So if I'm doing a show
- 24:29Speaker 3: for the Girl Scouts, I'm gonna have Girl Scouts jokes.
- 24:32Speaker 3: If I'm doing jokes for the mayor, I'm gonna do
- 24:35Speaker 3: stuff with that's more political and intellectual. Possibly, so you
- 24:40Speaker 3: cater to your room. If I'm doing a party for
- 24:42Speaker 3: some Rolling Sixties, I'm gonna do some jokes for them.
- 24:46Speaker 1: So you're producing these shows and you're opening up for
- 24:49Speaker 1: these bigger I would say at the time, bigger comics, right,
- 24:54Speaker 1: and then are they catching wind of your guys talent
- 24:56Speaker 1: and pulling you out they.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Could care less? Okay, No, Actually, Souley actually got signed
- 25:02Speaker 3: by the same manager that Jerry Seinfeld had, so he
- 25:05Speaker 3: had his career went to a different level because of
- 25:08Speaker 3: that signing.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Okay, So you're producing the shows and then Sean at
- 25:14Speaker 1: this time, you're showing up to everything that.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Sean is making money. Now, I haven't seen Sean. I
- 25:18Speaker 3: won't see Sean. Sean doesn't know even know I'm doing
- 25:20Speaker 3: comedy at this point after high school, by the time
- 25:23Speaker 3: I went to college. They may come to see me
- 25:26Speaker 3: once or twice, but everybody's living on nobody's gonna go
- 25:28Speaker 3: visit somebody in college.
- 25:29Speaker 1: So he said they were. They said that. Sean said
- 25:31Speaker 1: he was following you.
- 25:32Speaker 3: What I'm saying is he saw it wasn't like he's
- 25:34Speaker 3: coming to l who y'all got coming?
- 25:37Speaker 1: Okay, And I'm assuming Sean, you were doing entrepreneurs stuff,
- 25:40Speaker 1: because I know you have other businesses outside.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Of the doing. We would go visit and hang out
- 25:46Speaker 2: with Chris, and then we creating different avenues for us
- 25:50Speaker 2: to continue to make money and different stuff like that.
- 25:53Speaker 2: And then as Chris start filming different shows, that's what
- 25:58Speaker 2: I got more success. Need to be here with me.
- 26:02Speaker 2: So we started being at the tapings the filmings wherever
- 26:05Speaker 2: he was. We stopped being more there with him, and they.
- 26:08Speaker 3: Actually produced one of our first tapings that Tisha Campbell directed,
- 26:12Speaker 3: which is called Get Up, Stand Up, which was with me,
- 26:15Speaker 3: Daryl Heath, Alex Thomas, and Suley McCullough. And we shot
- 26:18Speaker 3: it at this little club in the valley, and I
- 26:20Speaker 3: think that was their first taste in Hollywood. Could be fun, yeah, okay,
- 26:24Speaker 3: and then that was your first after graduation, that's around
- 26:27Speaker 3: ninety three four or something like that.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Was that your first big, your first TV big? I
- 26:32Speaker 1: just said first, that was your first though.
- 26:36Speaker 3: I think so I might have done some smaller stuff,
- 26:38Speaker 3: because no, I've done stuff before. There were shows back
- 26:41Speaker 3: then that they don't have now, like Evening at the
- 26:44Speaker 3: Improv and Comic View and stand Up New York, and
- 26:48Speaker 3: so I think that stand up there, there's a show
- 26:49Speaker 3: like that. There was a lot of shows. That's when
- 26:51Speaker 3: we got the impatist to go, let's create our own show.
- 26:53Speaker 3: This is pre depth, you know, and so we started.
- 26:55Speaker 3: We did that in lieu of selling it. But I
- 26:58Speaker 3: don't know what happened. I think it's it's out there somewhere.
- 27:01Speaker 3: And then that's when he first got the bug. And
- 27:03Speaker 3: then lives happen, people get married, have kids, do stuff,
- 27:06Speaker 3: and then they would always come to support my shows.
- 27:09Speaker 3: And then when Junior passed away in two fourteen is
- 27:13Speaker 3: when he really stepped one into stand up comedy full time,
- 27:19Speaker 3: him his brother Derek.
- 27:21Speaker 1: And then how did that feeling come feel after once
- 27:25Speaker 1: you guys started really working together, how did it feel?
- 27:28Speaker 3: It was easy because Sean is our point guard. He's
- 27:35Speaker 3: actually running this show. All right, I see if this
- 27:39Speaker 3: was basketball, Sean is magic, Derek is James Worthy. I'm sorry,
- 27:45Speaker 3: you're too young. Let me go back. Sean is Steph Curry, Okay.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Okay, okay, sewn' Steph Curry. Okay, okay, yes, thank you,
- 27:52Speaker 1: thank you for got it.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Derek is Draymond Green okay. And I'm the owner of
- 28:02Speaker 3: the team.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Okay, okay, okay, I.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Want to do Sean is the owner of the team.
- 28:07Speaker 3: I'm Steph Curry and no, Sean is Draymond Sean, I'm
- 28:13Speaker 3: Steph Carry. And you know what, we're the trotters.
- 28:16Speaker 1: We all we do it all okay, okay, got it?
- 28:18Speaker 3: Like Sean is the one that keeps us on point.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Taket sales a low, Kevin Hard ain't call back, But
- 28:23Speaker 3: he's the one that keep me and Derek. If we're
- 28:24Speaker 3: flowing through life going the show's Wednesday will be okay,
- 28:26Speaker 3: Sean ain't gonna be Okay, we need some more sweatshirts,
- 28:29Speaker 3: but yeah, he keeps shipping.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Was he the one that at the last show, you
- 28:32Speaker 1: guys all almost came out in the same exact outfits.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Yeah, Sean is the designer of the common.
- 28:43Speaker 2: But it's the crazy part. Chris got a light blue
- 28:46Speaker 2: one earlier that day, and I wasn't even thinking about it.
- 28:50Speaker 3: I'm glad I fifteen of us in blue.
- 28:53Speaker 2: He had orange, right, And when Mifphis we got that one,
- 28:57Speaker 2: I forgot he had even purchased that one, so I
- 29:01Speaker 2: knew what I was wearing that You didn't tell me
- 29:03Speaker 2: if it's will to wear it that night? Yeah?
- 29:06Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, show Can you stand up and just show
- 29:10Speaker 3: them what the.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Well you're not wearing?
- 29:13Speaker 3: You just take it over your neck. This is part
- 29:17Speaker 3: this is part.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Is it tight?
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yeah? This is one from started stead up in twenty fourteen.
- 29:25Speaker 2: This was one of the first logos that we desired. Okay,
- 29:28Speaker 2: now we have more multiple logos under the umbrella, and
- 29:32Speaker 2: comedy Block Party is the most significant one. Yeah, everybody
- 29:36Speaker 2: buys that.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Matter of fact, I have my sweats.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I saw you.
- 29:41Speaker 3: It's not ritten on the pants.
- 29:42Speaker 2: You know some different pints.
- 29:44Speaker 3: This ain't the pants.
- 29:45Speaker 1: They all right, take me through some of the hurdles
- 29:49Speaker 1: and the upsides, the behind the scenes of you making it,
- 29:53Speaker 1: Chris to where you are today because you've been in
- 29:55Speaker 1: the industry how long now.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Hold I've been at thirty plus, and there's always you're
- 30:01Speaker 3: hot and then you're not. But what allowed me to
- 30:06Speaker 3: sustain thirty years is not relying on my pretty face.
- 30:11Speaker 3: I've actually gone behind the scenes and wrote and produced
- 30:16Speaker 3: for a lot of your favorite comedians. So what I
- 30:18Speaker 3: tell young comedians is you're all gonna get opportunities. Some
- 30:20Speaker 3: people's opportunities are gonna be bigger than others. And your
- 30:23Speaker 3: friend is going to host the MTV Movie Awards. They're
- 30:27Speaker 3: gonna give him a group of writers to write the show,
- 30:30Speaker 3: and then he's gonna need people who know his voice
- 30:32Speaker 3: to write for him. And so I've done that for Jamie,
- 30:36Speaker 3: I've done that for Mike Eepps. I've done it for Kevin,
- 30:38Speaker 3: I've done it for Cedric, I've done it for Dion,
- 30:41Speaker 3: and they've done it for me. Not those guys, but
- 30:44Speaker 3: other people. And so you just have to stay close
- 30:48Speaker 3: to this. If this is what you really want to do.
- 30:49Speaker 3: You may not become Eddie Murphy, but you could become
- 30:51Speaker 3: Kenya Barris, you know what I mean. You may not
- 30:54Speaker 3: become Kevin Hart, but you might become Chris Spencer. There's
- 30:58Speaker 3: all types of ways to skin a cat for lack
- 31:01Speaker 3: of a better word.
- 31:01Speaker 1: And then you have a lot of relationships too. I
- 31:04Speaker 1: think your relationships also play a key to your success.
- 31:07Speaker 3: With my relationships are better than my talent, meaning I'm cool,
- 31:14Speaker 3: but my roller decks. That's before your time.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I'm sorry, my snapchatchat forty, I'm forty zero.
- 31:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I know I have quite a few friends because
- 31:26Speaker 3: we all came up together. Some of us were eating
- 31:28Speaker 3: boloney sandwiches together, you know what I mean. And now
- 31:30Speaker 3: you know they're doing caviaar and I'm back to fucking balogney.
- 31:34Speaker 3: But nonetheless he's a laughing some of this stuff. Okay, ladys,
- 31:38Speaker 3: she's looking at me so seriously.
- 31:39Speaker 1: But now, okay, I just recently I told you I
- 31:41Speaker 1: recently did an interview with Nick. So I'm gonna take
- 31:43Speaker 1: you back when I bounce you back. All right, you
- 31:46Speaker 1: were one of the key players, if not the key
- 31:48Speaker 1: player behind walling out.
- 31:49Speaker 3: Not the key player. Nick Cannon is young, youthful, had
- 31:52Speaker 3: this great idea for a show. He showed it to me,
- 31:54Speaker 3: and I was like, this is dope, but we could
- 31:56Speaker 3: make it better. And so I gathered a group of
- 31:58Speaker 3: writers and come we enhanced it.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Wait when he showed it to you, did he take
- 32:03Speaker 1: you to an actual improv picture?
- 32:05Speaker 3: To me a verbally pitture? Not even he verbally pitched me.
- 32:09Speaker 3: And then we collaborated with his people and my people
- 32:11Speaker 3: and made it a presentation at the Comedy Union where
- 32:14Speaker 3: we also did Comedy Block party, and then they picked
- 32:17Speaker 3: it up, and then we did another pilot and then
- 32:19Speaker 3: the rest is whatever. Twenty one years of making magic.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Now he was in his twenties. What made you jump
- 32:25Speaker 1: to support him? Because I know he was in his
- 32:27Speaker 1: He's had to been like twenty.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Five or something. I can't support people younger than me.
- 32:30Speaker 1: No, I'm curious.
- 32:31Speaker 2: He was my friend.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Yeah, he was. He was the young guy that everybody
- 32:34Speaker 3: was talking about in the clubs and he was, for
- 32:37Speaker 3: lack of a better word, he was did he Puffy?
- 32:43Speaker 3: Did he's in trouble? Puffy wasn't in trouble. And he
- 32:46Speaker 3: was very creative and he was also the guy that
- 32:49Speaker 3: could put talent together and create things. He was always creating. Yeah,
- 32:53Speaker 3: you can't wait on Hollywood, they're not creative. You have
- 32:56Speaker 3: to actually chew the food and put it in their
- 32:58Speaker 3: mouth for them to get it. And that's Nick was doing.
- 33:00Speaker 3: And when he came up and wanted out. I was like,
- 33:02Speaker 3: I would absolutely do whatever it takes to make this
- 33:04Speaker 3: thing fantastic. And I was the head writer for the
- 33:07Speaker 3: first year, and then I had a child and things
- 33:12Speaker 3: went this way and I got another job. He went
- 33:15Speaker 3: on to do whatever. Twenty years of success. We're still differends.
- 33:18Speaker 3: We still work together to this day. And so that
- 33:20Speaker 3: opportunity was really great more great for him. But it was.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Now when you say head writer, what does that? What
- 33:29Speaker 1: did that entail? You wrote for every comic on there.
- 33:31Speaker 3: There's a room for writers, right, and I'm in charge
- 33:37Speaker 3: of the materials that are going to be presented to
- 33:40Speaker 3: for the show. Sometimes we would have a board like
- 33:43Speaker 3: this and I would see what everybody is read the
- 33:45Speaker 3: scripts that everybody's created. Say, we're gonna do some stuff
- 33:48Speaker 3: about blooney sandwiches. Give me all the bloney sandwiches joke.
- 33:52Speaker 3: We put it up here. We'll all aside which was
- 33:54Speaker 3: the best, and that will go into the packet. And
- 33:57Speaker 3: then that packet would go to the higher ups to go, oh,
- 33:59Speaker 3: this is we only sketch. It's funny. And so I
- 34:02Speaker 3: was the liaison between the higher ups and the writer's room.
- 34:07Speaker 3: So it's my job to maintain both of these relationships.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Oh wow, and that wasn't your first. Now, how far
- 34:13Speaker 1: in before you start with doing the wilding out head
- 34:16Speaker 1: writing stuff?
- 34:18Speaker 3: Was I a writing?
- 34:19Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 34:19Speaker 3: I was already writing. I started writing around two thousand
- 34:23Speaker 3: when Jamie Fox hosted the MTV Music Awards, and then
- 34:28Speaker 3: from there I just started getting writing gigs because, like
- 34:32Speaker 3: I said, when said comedian gets a gig, there's going
- 34:36Speaker 3: to be the people that write for the show, and
- 34:38Speaker 3: then there's going to be his people who know his voice.
- 34:40Speaker 3: And I had the opportunity of doing that several times
- 34:42Speaker 3: before the Well and Out show.
- 34:45Speaker 1: And then when you got into acting, were you taking
- 34:47Speaker 1: acting class?
- 34:48Speaker 3: I was acting that whole time. Matter of fact, the
- 34:50Speaker 3: writing took over when the acting got slow, you know, So.
- 34:54Speaker 1: You didn't sit still during any of the No.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Remember I had a late night talk show too. There's
- 34:59Speaker 3: no you can't stop. And that's what I love about
- 35:01Speaker 3: this generation. They're not waiting. They will shoot a whole
- 35:05Speaker 3: movie on an iPhone.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I mean? And you like that
- 35:08Speaker 1: a lot of people some people hate on it.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Their haters, I love that, you know what I mean
- 35:13Speaker 3: a lot of them are hating.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Of that.
- 35:16Speaker 3: A lot of us are old school now evans still
- 35:18Speaker 3: only where it's fitted baseball hats. Sometimes you're set in
- 35:21Speaker 3: your ways, trust me, calling right now. You could have
- 35:28Speaker 3: sixteen diamonds on it and be worth ten million to be.
- 35:30Speaker 3: I aware of that shit. And that's how we are,
- 35:32Speaker 3: you know what I mean. Sometimes we're setting their ways
- 35:34Speaker 3: because that was his generation. I love singing it all,
- 35:38Speaker 3: you know what I mean. I love what kay Sinat
- 35:39Speaker 3: is doing.
- 35:40Speaker 1: I love well, you like what he's doing too, Okay.
- 35:43Speaker 3: This is it. That's like my mom being mad at me.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Turn off that goddamn hip hop. Hip Hop is the future,
- 35:51Speaker 3: Kaysat is the future. Yeah, I love all of it.
- 36:01Speaker 3: I love entertainment and comedians love each other. So when
- 36:04Speaker 3: you said why did I help Nick, it's because Nick
- 36:06Speaker 3: is a comedian. I love comedians. Let me tell you
- 36:07Speaker 3: the story, Robin Williams, I did a show at Caroline's
- 36:12Speaker 3: in New York and I was doing the midnight show
- 36:15Speaker 3: and Jeff Garland was doing the ten o'clock show or
- 36:18Speaker 3: eight o'clock showed. I was doing the ten o'clock show,
- 36:20Speaker 3: and for some reason, Jeff Garland let Robin Williams go
- 36:24Speaker 3: on first, the paint was peeling off the walls. You know,
- 36:31Speaker 3: they have like pictures of famous comedians on. They were laughing.
- 36:35Speaker 3: Charlie Chaplin was dying, May West whoever he's murdering. So
- 36:41Speaker 3: after he gets off stage, Jeff Garland goes on and
- 36:43Speaker 3: it's not good. I mean, he had to work to
- 36:45Speaker 3: get him. He's a professional show but he had work
- 36:47Speaker 3: to do. But Robin came in the back, and I
- 36:50Speaker 3: don't know if there was a pied piper or something,
- 36:52Speaker 3: but all of a sudden it went from ten to
- 36:55Speaker 3: eight comedians to four hundred comedians were in the back
- 36:58Speaker 3: listening to Robin Williams talk shop, tell stories, and he's
- 37:02Speaker 3: talking to us and he's asking questions. We love each other.
- 37:06Speaker 3: This fraternity runs deep. I don't care. I don't care
- 37:10Speaker 3: who you are if you tell something, unless they're an asshole.
- 37:13Speaker 3: But if you talk to a vet comedian and telling me,
- 37:16Speaker 3: you stand up. They want to know what's it like? Now?
- 37:18Speaker 3: What's going on? Are you at the comedy store? Do
- 37:20Speaker 3: you go to the laugh factory? I remember this time
- 37:22Speaker 3: and you share stories? One time I was writing for Laughing.
- 37:25Speaker 3: You remember show Laughing? You do it? She's too young,
- 37:29Speaker 3: it was the fifty year reunion of Laughing. I got
- 37:32Speaker 3: hired by a comedian named a writer named John Max
- 37:34Speaker 3: who writes. He think I write for award shows. He
- 37:36Speaker 3: writes for all the award shows, including Presidents, Governors. He's
- 37:39Speaker 3: the man, John Max. And so I'm writing for Laughing
- 37:42Speaker 3: and Billy Crystal and Jay Leto are in the room.
- 37:46Speaker 3: So we're talking about rehearsal because they're gonna do something,
- 37:48Speaker 3: and then they start telling jokes. I'm like, I gotta
- 37:51Speaker 3: say something, and I said, you guys ever heard the
- 37:54Speaker 3: one about that? They just fuck it turned around and
- 37:56Speaker 3: then now meet Billy Crystal and Jay Lenore sharing jokes.
- 38:00Speaker 3: I love that comedians love comedians.
- 38:02Speaker 1: I love that. I love it and I can see
- 38:05Speaker 1: why when I go to the shows they feel the
- 38:08Speaker 1: way they feel. Yeah, is there any stories behind the
- 38:11Speaker 1: scenes that you did bring up with Robin Williams? That
- 38:13Speaker 1: is like a very memorable standout.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Even with Robin Williams. So I say to Robin Williams,
- 38:19Speaker 3: how can you don't come to the comedy store anymore?
- 38:22Speaker 3: He goes, Oh, No. One time I drove up and
- 38:24Speaker 3: these two these black guys came up to me and
- 38:26Speaker 3: They're like, what the fuck are you doing here? And
- 38:29Speaker 3: he was like, I'm performing. I'm doing a show in
- 38:32Speaker 3: the main room. And they were like, get the fuck
- 38:35Speaker 3: out of here, and I left. I said, Robin, that's slang.
- 38:40Speaker 3: He's what are you talking about? I said, when they
- 38:42Speaker 3: said what the fuck are you doing here, they couldn't
- 38:43Speaker 3: believe that fucking Mark from Orc Missus Doubtfire is right
- 38:50Speaker 3: there in front of them. They're like really then, and
- 38:53Speaker 3: then I said, when they said get the fuck out
- 38:55Speaker 3: of here, you saw fucking Johnny Brasco get the fuck
- 38:57Speaker 3: out of here like that. He was like, no shit.
- 39:02Speaker 3: The next that was Saturday Monday, La Times reads Robin
- 39:07Speaker 3: Williams returns to the Comedy Store and over whatever twenty
- 39:10Speaker 3: seven twenty eight years.
- 39:11Speaker 1: That's hilarious.
- 39:12Speaker 3: No, I'm Forrest gumpany ship true story.
- 39:18Speaker 1: That's a great story. That's that's gonna be a whole
- 39:21Speaker 1: clip that's going virals indefinitely. Well, do you have any more?
- 39:25Speaker 3: I got a million stories? Yeah, name a comedian Kevin
- 39:29Speaker 3: Harry to sleep on my couch.
- 39:31Speaker 1: I believe that we did it. I did.
- 39:33Speaker 3: It was one day, but still he slept there.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Did he sleep there? Because he needed to.
- 39:37Speaker 3: He needed to, He had to. He hadn't slept there
- 39:39Speaker 3: for a couple of days. Russell Peters when he would
- 39:41Speaker 3: come to town with st step on.
- 39:43Speaker 1: My couch, tell me something about the Waynes.
- 39:47Speaker 3: Comedy family, their royalty. They put me on.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Oh they put you.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Sure, if you go back and look at all the
- 39:53Speaker 3: old Wayms movies, you'll see me. I did Blank Man
- 39:56Speaker 3: with Damon, I.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Did am I Loved Blank Men, Low Down, Dirty.
- 40:00Speaker 3: Shame with Kenan. I did Don't Be a Minister of
- 40:03Speaker 3: South Central Will Drinking a Juice with Sean and Marlon.
- 40:06Speaker 3: I wrote a book with Sean. I did The Sixth
- 40:08Speaker 3: Man with Marlon. I used to think I was warning.
- 40:11Speaker 3: I used to walk around with this wearing a vada
- 40:15Speaker 3: cause that's all they used to wear.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:17Speaker 3: I thought I was waaring until one day that was
- 40:20Speaker 3: a true story. I told us on a couple of podcasts.
- 40:22Speaker 3: But I found out I wasn't family because one day
- 40:25Speaker 3: we were in front of that just Damon and Seawan
- 40:27Speaker 3: and I just did a show with the airprov We
- 40:29Speaker 3: came out. They're sitting in the front seat and they're whispering.
- 40:33Speaker 3: I'm like, they're like, oh, Chris could you step out
- 40:36Speaker 3: real quick. We talking about family.
- 40:37Speaker 1: I was like, oh, you covered your mic too while
- 40:44Speaker 1: you do that, I'm family and so did you really
- 40:48Speaker 1: feel that I was hurt?
- 40:51Speaker 3: I spent Thanksgivings with them, Christmas, you know what I mean.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm not family and so.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Then but they run tight.
- 40:59Speaker 3: API took my spot, and the rest of the movies
- 41:00Speaker 3: after that really.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Are So that's the only that's only Wayne story you got.
- 41:07Speaker 1: I don't know what you're trying to think. Eddie Murphy,
- 41:09Speaker 1: Martin Lawrence.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I know them all.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Any good getting on a Martin Laurence story. Okay, you
- 41:14Speaker 1: know what's good when they laugh before they.
- 41:15Speaker 3: Say so, before anything. Martin was like the hottest comic
- 41:18Speaker 3: in the world, right. And one night we were at
- 41:21Speaker 3: a club glam Slam for those of you who are
- 41:23Speaker 3: from La Prince had a club called glam Slam. I
- 41:26Speaker 3: got a funny glam Sam story too, real quick, we're
- 41:28Speaker 3: glam Slam. And it's always the baddest woman in the world.
- 41:30Speaker 3: In La has the baddest females in the world. And
- 41:33Speaker 3: it's not because they were born here, but a lot
- 41:35Speaker 3: of them come from other places and decide to live here.
- 41:39Speaker 3: And find out that they wasn't shit. I one time
- 41:41Speaker 3: saw this girl walking short hair jeans with the ass
- 41:46Speaker 3: cheeks out. I was like, yo on top. My boy
- 41:50Speaker 3: was like look and then and my boys like, yeah,
- 41:53Speaker 3: what's up? She turned around. It was Prince with a lollipublic.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Why does prince have his ass out?
- 42:01Speaker 2: True story?
- 42:01Speaker 1: So one night I just got that at the very end.
- 42:05Speaker 3: Yes, one night, Martin Martin and his girl at the
- 42:09Speaker 3: time and who was a friend of mine and Sulie
- 42:12Speaker 3: mcculluugh and I were walking out. I was a little
- 42:15Speaker 3: drunk and I had on I was very stylish and
- 42:18Speaker 3: fashion forward. I do on this lumberjackshirt. We called him
- 42:21Speaker 3: Pendletons bankers high gang bankers. Pendletons teed up and had
- 42:27Speaker 3: on some like these I forgot with these little construction
- 42:28Speaker 3: boot They wouldn't love, they wouldn't timberlands, but they were
- 42:31Speaker 3: the boots at the time. Look up, Jodasy and I
- 42:34Speaker 3: needed to laugh at some of this, and so Martin
- 42:37Speaker 3: was like, what the fuck you got on with that
- 42:39Speaker 3: lumberjack shit? He was drunk. I was like, what you
- 42:42Speaker 3: heard me? Mother? And saw me and him got into it.
- 42:45Speaker 3: And then the next day he called me and apologized
- 42:48Speaker 3: with my dear friend Bentley Evans, who's now's uncle, and
- 42:52Speaker 3: I got hired to be Martin's standing on the Martin Show.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Yeah, why did he call you apologize? He felt bad?
- 42:59Speaker 3: He felt bad. I'm a wonderful person.
- 43:02Speaker 1: That was nice to Cris Spancer like that. That was nice.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:05Speaker 3: So that was one of my first jobs in Hollywood,
- 43:06Speaker 3: which was weird because I'm like, how am I gonna
- 43:08Speaker 3: be Martin Standing? So whenever you saw Grandma, if you
- 43:10Speaker 3: look at the pilot, you'll see they had to shoot
- 43:13Speaker 3: the back of the head, so you saw the Grandma's
- 43:14Speaker 3: back of their head, which is me in a wig,
- 43:16Speaker 3: and then Martin and then you see in my back
- 43:18Speaker 3: of her head to see Martin when he's not just
- 43:20Speaker 3: So that was one of my first jobs. I've had
- 43:22Speaker 3: an incredible I've had an incredible life in Hollywood.
- 43:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:25Speaker 2: One of my.
- 43:25Speaker 3: Weirdest jobs is I Diana Ross was having a photo
- 43:29Speaker 3: shoot and they wanted a comedian to entertain her, and
- 43:32Speaker 3: she went to different spaces on this studio lot. So
- 43:37Speaker 3: I have to walk in and tap dad. She'd be
- 43:39Speaker 3: like that, and then she walked the next room. But
- 43:42Speaker 3: before I got the job. Now, when I got the job,
- 43:44Speaker 3: I thought Tracy got me the job because Tracy and
- 43:47Speaker 3: I was friend Tracy. I was wrong, and she calls me, goes,
- 43:49Speaker 3: what the fuck is going on? I go, what You're
- 43:52Speaker 3: gonna be a comedian? From my mother? I go, I
- 43:54Speaker 3: thought you got me the job. No, I didn't get
- 43:56Speaker 3: you a job. What are you the toy?
- 43:58Speaker 1: Did her mom know who he now?
- 44:01Speaker 3: And I bombed all day? Imagine she would they say
- 44:06Speaker 3: this room was the polar room, and she it was
- 44:09Speaker 3: all white and she wore white and as a fur
- 44:11Speaker 3: and there's some fucking little penguins and shit, and I'm
- 44:15Speaker 3: up there doing jokes and shit and her handlers are like,
- 44:17Speaker 3: it's gonna be like fucking And it wasn't until the
- 44:22Speaker 3: last setting whatever it was, that I finally made her laugh.
- 44:26Speaker 3: I said, listen, you got me upside down, boy, you
- 44:29Speaker 3: turned me. I said some jokes with her songs in it,
- 44:30Speaker 3: and she goes, that's funny. You're very funny. I said,
- 44:33Speaker 3: you should have fucking laughed earlier.
- 44:36Speaker 1: But is that harder that? That would must be a
- 44:38Speaker 1: lot harder to make one person laugh though, right.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Yeah, there was more people in the room. But if
- 44:44Speaker 3: the King ain't laughing. Ain't nobody laughing? Yeah, so every
- 44:46Speaker 3: now the cameraman and them were shaken because its fucking funny,
- 44:49Speaker 3: but they're not laughing loud because she ain't laughing, you know.
- 44:52Speaker 1: All right, cool, all right, awesome. I'm trying to think
- 44:55Speaker 1: is there anything that I left off the table when
- 44:57Speaker 1: it comes to your guys story.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Your rise, we're killing?
- 45:00Speaker 1: What year is Sean twenty twenty five?
- 45:03Speaker 3: What year for comedy black?
- 45:04Speaker 2: Oh? This is eleven?
- 45:06Speaker 1: Oh, it's eleven, Mark, I think it was longer than
- 45:08Speaker 1: March seven. Eleven years is a good time.
- 45:11Speaker 2: It's a great run.
- 45:12Speaker 1: And then why did you guys end up moving from
- 45:14Speaker 1: the Chinese Theater all the way to Inglewood? Is it
- 45:16Speaker 1: because you just wanted to keep it home based.
- 45:18Speaker 3: That the opportunity for Inglewood, which is our home, came
- 45:22Speaker 3: up and we're like, this is easy. It was also
- 45:24Speaker 3: because a lot of people would be like, yo, man,
- 45:26Speaker 3: I gotta get to work, and they would leave early
- 45:28Speaker 3: and come back this way, and we're like, you know what,
- 45:30Speaker 3: we need to spot down here so they can stay
- 45:32Speaker 3: throughout the whole show. And literally the show stays until
- 45:38Speaker 3: we say you have to do the birthdays.
- 45:39Speaker 1: So you do the birthdays and it's like a whole thing.
- 45:42Speaker 3: It's a whole we're gonna start streaming this year.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Really, are you guys gonna do something with fifty one twenty?
- 45:49Speaker 3: Quite possible? Yes, that's our people.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Okay, the crazy j Parker, the crazy part Colleen. When
- 45:56Speaker 2: people call for their birthday, they say, I want my
- 46:01Speaker 2: name on the cake please?
- 46:03Speaker 1: Do you guys do it?
- 46:04Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 46:04Speaker 2: Yeah, today my tickets to the show.
- 46:07Speaker 3: I love that morning on the cake.
- 46:10Speaker 2: And they pictured on the fly as well, and we
- 46:13Speaker 2: promote them as well, celebrating their birthday with comedy Black
- 46:17Speaker 2: Party every month.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Now, are those the people that sit in the very front, they're.
- 46:21Speaker 2: All over, they're all over, they're all over.
- 46:23Speaker 3: Those are VIPC just a birthday.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Yeah okay, so those are special VIA seats.
- 46:29Speaker 3: No, that's special. They paid for a bottle.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, okay, okay, yeah, I always wonder about those
- 46:35Speaker 1: seats in the front.
- 46:36Speaker 2: So, like some rolls after every show, those people pay
- 46:41Speaker 2: for that role in advance for every show, all seventeen
- 46:45Speaker 2: seats and the VIP tables, three tables are already five
- 46:51Speaker 2: tables are already paid in the advance already. Every show,
- 46:54Speaker 2: every show, and.
- 46:54Speaker 1: What do you do to promote the show showing because
- 46:57Speaker 1: it sounds like you're the one that's always the most stressed.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very stressful. It's social media. When you go
- 47:06Speaker 2: places with Chris or different venues, you have to have
- 47:11Speaker 2: your brand on and marketing your brand. And as when
- 47:14Speaker 2: I go to the places with Chris, I'm usually standing
- 47:17Speaker 2: off in the cut and somebody come say to me, oh, man,
- 47:20Speaker 2: we need to doing that show. Man, I see y'all
- 47:21Speaker 2: killing it over there? Man, what's going on?
- 47:23Speaker 3: And it's easier than passing out cars to everybody. He
- 47:26Speaker 3: wears the cop They go, oh, you're Sean Elliott. Oh
- 47:29Speaker 3: that's Derek Ellie. Their names are like it's almost like
- 47:34Speaker 3: seeing Tupac. They heard of them, and you guys are
- 47:37Speaker 3: Elliott brothers. And so now they want to They know
- 47:40Speaker 3: that our shows aren't regular shows. So the fact that
- 47:43Speaker 3: now they get to talk to Sean and Derek can
- 47:45Speaker 3: find out how they can bring their office, their boss's birthday,
- 47:49Speaker 3: their birthday, just they just want to come celebrate because
- 47:52Speaker 3: it's a different show, you know what I mean, It's
- 47:54Speaker 3: not like any comedy show in the world.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Now, if comics watch and want to get on your show.
- 47:58Speaker 1: What's the process? How do they go about it?
- 48:01Speaker 3: It's usually you gotta be recommended. You just can't. We
- 48:05Speaker 3: ain't watching no tapes. It's usually somebody says, yo, you
- 48:09Speaker 3: gotta check out this dude named Darius. He's hysterical. Or
- 48:13Speaker 3: when I'm out at the comedy store, I'm still in
- 48:15Speaker 3: the streets. I'm still in these comedy streets. So I'll
- 48:17Speaker 3: meet a young guy. He goes, you're gonna be in
- 48:19Speaker 3: the belly room, and I know you're the main room,
- 48:21Speaker 3: be in the belling room in seven minutes. Can you
- 48:22Speaker 3: come watch it. I'll come watch and I'll go.
- 48:25Speaker 1: I love how you're back. But you keep it up,
- 48:28Speaker 1: young man, We're about to be like I love how
- 48:30Speaker 1: you support it.
- 48:33Speaker 2: We started the entity of comedy Black Party from Chris
- 48:39Speaker 2: from twenty fourteen. Wherever he went, if he went to Ontario,
- 48:44Speaker 2: I was there building the brand every night, he said,
- 48:47Speaker 2: I got to introduce you to all the people that
- 48:53Speaker 2: no matter where he was, I was there every night.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Wow.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Wow, building the brand.
- 48:58Speaker 1: And then do you guys both stay in Inglewood?
- 49:00Speaker 2: No, we both live in God God, okay?
- 49:07Speaker 1: And then do you how far in events. Do you
- 49:08Speaker 1: know who's on your show lineup?
- 49:10Speaker 3: We already know, like now, from March, April, April.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Do you know who will be airing in Yes, April
- 49:18Speaker 1: and May.
- 49:19Speaker 2: We don't know. We haven't April.
- 49:22Speaker 3: So we always have a name person because we argue
- 49:25Speaker 3: about all the time, but we can have to because
- 49:28Speaker 3: these are working class people and if they're gonna not
- 49:31Speaker 3: if they're gonna be late for work or stay out,
- 49:33Speaker 3: it's got to be somebody a little special for them
- 49:35Speaker 3: to see. We've tried, and we still tried to do
- 49:38Speaker 3: a regular show with just people that we see on
- 49:41Speaker 3: these regulations, but we always have to have something a
- 49:44Speaker 3: little bit enticing, some more enticing. That's why we have
- 49:46Speaker 3: the Deon Coles, the Tiffany's and blah blah blah, and
- 49:48Speaker 3: those are usually our later bookings. The other people are great.
- 49:54Speaker 3: The first three or four are yeah, because these other
- 49:56Speaker 3: people are working now. Sometimes we get them early. If
- 49:59Speaker 3: they say I can't do March, but put me for April.
- 50:02Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 50:03Speaker 1: So in April we want May, I just want April.
- 50:06Speaker 3: We have Eddie Murphy.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Eddie Murphy, guys, you heard it here first.
- 50:10Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Eddie Johnson, Eddie Johnson, guys, Eddie Johnson's in the building
- 50:20Speaker 1: in April, because I'm trying to think of the release schedule,
- 50:22Speaker 1: so I'm trying to see. So right now, you guys
- 50:24Speaker 1: have Donald Rowlings coming out in Rowlings, and then you
- 50:28Speaker 1: have March March. Who you guys have coming out we
- 50:33Speaker 1: haven't to be determined, but in April we have Eddie
- 50:35Speaker 1: Johnson for sure. Guys come out to Comedy Block party,
- 50:39Speaker 1: followed Darren Elliott, Sean Elliott and Elliott brothers and Chris Hosts,
- 50:43Speaker 1: Chris Spencer and it's a real it's a real family environment.
- 50:47Speaker 1: At the end, everyone gets up on stage is the
- 50:50Speaker 1: whole everyone.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Everyone.
- 50:51Speaker 3: We got security, but the family.
- 50:53Speaker 1: And I don't feel like security of.
- 50:55Speaker 3: The of the birthday people.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Okay, I not walked up on stage, but I think.
- 51:03Speaker 3: Because you and your family are so pretty, I don't
- 51:06Speaker 3: mean the bride. But whatever. Anywhere me and my brothers gone,
- 51:09Speaker 3: we get in and we get free drinks. Girls be
- 51:11Speaker 3: throwing their drawings at them.
- 51:13Speaker 2: We get it. You know what's the funniest part, Colleen,
- 51:15Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you, whenever I be out without Chris,
- 51:19Speaker 2: people just come on through me. And talk to me,
- 51:20Speaker 2: and I'll be like, who is this? I was looking
- 51:23Speaker 2: around like sh man, You and Christian with your brother
- 51:27Speaker 2: them y'all killing it. I'll be like who. I'll be like,
- 51:31Speaker 2: who is this? We'd be like okay. They'd be like,
- 51:34Speaker 2: he got my phone number.
- 51:35Speaker 1: I'll be like okay, and thank you.
- 51:41Speaker 2: You know what. I am humbled and grateful that us
- 51:46Speaker 2: three is back together and we're keeping Junior legacy live
- 51:50Speaker 2: through laughter because it's all about him. That's why you
- 51:54Speaker 2: see his logo, his picture on our logo that stands
- 51:58Speaker 2: out and the thing with us, it's brotherly and his family.
- 52:04Speaker 2: No one is no bigger building this brand higher.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Yeah, because we.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Right here and it's just a bonus to have our
- 52:12Speaker 2: brother with us full time now outside of other works
- 52:16Speaker 2: that he do.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that love. I love the bonding and
- 52:20Speaker 1: the brother and I'm sure you and Derek, you guys
- 52:24Speaker 1: don't have the brotherly conversations until Christa. I'm messing with
- 52:29Speaker 1: the Waynes. It's not money more than I'm sorry you
- 52:36Speaker 1: guys never do that. You guys do that, Chris.
- 52:38Speaker 2: We're talking about family. I'm gonna take you what we do.
- 52:41Speaker 2: We be on the phone for hours at a time,
- 52:44Speaker 2: all of us be on the phone, Me then Chris.
- 52:46Speaker 2: We'll be on the phone for an hour or two,
- 52:48Speaker 2: coming up different ideas, different things. We might have disagreements
- 52:52Speaker 2: here and there, but it's all love is. We have
- 52:55Speaker 2: to make it to the middle point and then we
- 52:58Speaker 2: all agree on what to do next.
- 53:00Speaker 1: I know one thing for sure with siblings is every
- 53:02Speaker 1: once in a while there's a beef that breaks out,
- 53:05Speaker 1: and then usually siblings start rallying other siblings to take
- 53:09Speaker 1: a side. Has that ever happened? You guys never beefed
- 53:12Speaker 1: and then said, hey, just what happened?
- 53:14Speaker 2: None of that? Oh yeah, none of that.
- 53:17Speaker 3: We just say shine, you're right.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Yeah, because I tell them, because I make sure we
- 53:25Speaker 2: run this like a well driven truck. Because Derek has
- 53:31Speaker 2: other things going on, Chris have a lot of other
- 53:33Speaker 2: things going on. So I'm the one that's watching everything,
- 53:37Speaker 2: making sure it's right, letting them know who on board,
- 53:39Speaker 2: whom not on board. This from that, so we got
- 53:42Speaker 2: to treat it as this Fortune five hundred company and
- 53:47Speaker 2: let people know we aren't forced to be wrecking with
- 53:50Speaker 2: you guys. We're here to stay. You guys are yeah.
- 53:53Speaker 1: All right, cool? Thank you? So much for feeding me
- 53:55Speaker 1: this baloney sandwich.
