Transcript
- 0:40None. What's up everybody, it's your
- 0:58boy Kefi. I am back once again with
- 1:00another Ghost cultman.com live stream.
- 1:03We are super stoked today to be announcing 2 more bands for the
- 1:07Mojave Experience Festival, the debut inaugural excellent Mojave
- 1:12Experience Festival. I'm so looking forward to this.
- 1:15I'm really excited. We're partnering up with the
- 1:17festival. We're going to do these
- 1:18announcements every week until the full line up is revealed and
- 1:22then you'll get the whole poster reveal and all the deeds.
- 1:25Early bird tickets already went on sale.
- 1:27You can get tickets now at the links in our description.
- 1:31This is really America. We don't have that many cool
- 1:36underground metal festivals. We have a few.
- 1:38We have a lot of big butt rock festivals that occasionally have
- 1:42some great metal bands and I'm always oddly amused when we get
- 1:46those. But super cool.
- 1:50First things first, if you're new here, please like and
- 1:52subscribe. It helps us keep the lights on.
- 1:54I will drop the tip menu in a second where you can share a tip
- 1:58with us if you are so inclined. You might be, you might be, but
- 2:04you know, I'm just grateful to do what I do and cover this
- 2:07music. Mark is back.
- 2:08What's up brother and thanks for being here and I appreciate the
- 2:12follow. Klaus Pater is also here.
- 2:15We've got quite a few people watching on the tube of you and
- 2:19on the gram and I'm hanging out on TikTok.
- 2:22Yes, thank you FUBU microbar shirt.
- 2:24This is one of my favorite shirts.
- 2:25This color looks really fucking good on me.
- 2:27I need some more olive green metal shirts to go offset the
- 2:32black and the occasional light colors I let in, probably due to
- 2:36the band haunt and their awesome colored shirts.
- 2:39But anyway, best experience for this show is always YouTube
- 2:43where we show our stuff every day.
- 2:45We have our band interviews, our weekly live streams, this show,
- 2:49these will all be podcasts on our podcast.
- 2:51You can also watch this live on Facebook, Twitch, Instagram and
- 2:55other places. Lynn loves metal.
- 2:57Hello, good to see you. But yeah, I'm back.
- 3:01I'm doing the thing. We're going to announce 2 bands
- 3:04every week until the whole lineup of Mojave Experience is
- 3:07settled and I will be hopefully coming out in early next year.
- 3:12I had to run around every day, A crazy day.
- 3:14I host karaoke in San Francisco every Sunday night.
- 3:17Hosting karaoke. It was a banger time.
- 3:19Then I had a doctor's appointment.
- 3:20I had to do some blood work. I have more errands to run.
- 3:25It kind of never stops, but I'm happy to be here.
- 3:29Let's let's do the damn thing and I will bring in the thing.
- 3:34Hey, Andrew, what's up? Thanks for being here.
- 3:36All right, so thanks to everybody for tuning in.
- 3:42And yeah, once again, if you are so inclined because you know,
- 3:47this shit costs a lot of money and we are not corporate that we
- 3:50do some tips you can share. But of course, make sure you go
- 3:56follow the Mojave experience. I'll share their links.
- 4:00Here's the Facebook event for you guys.
- 4:04I didn't do this last week and you know, sometimes you folks
- 4:08can't, it's hard to kind of do all the things and conversate
- 4:12and be part of everything. But here's the link I shared it
- 4:16here should be populating now. I will drop it in the chat on
- 4:22the tick of the talk as well, as well as where to drop a tip.
- 4:28But I appreciate everybody here. Very nice for you to be here.
- 4:33Yeah, last week, you know, I was really pleasantly surprised.
- 4:35A lot of people showed up and showed out, people who are not
- 4:38regular viewers of our stuff. So again, super excited that
- 4:44people are enthused enough for this festival to come and join
- 4:48us for these announcements. And as soon as I drop this link
- 4:52to the Facebook event on TikTok, it's weird how that happens,
- 4:58Then I will dispense with the pleasantries and get to it.
- 5:04All right, My shit is not cooperating.
- 5:10All right, I'll try to drop it in later.
- 5:13Anyway, guys, I'm in a search passing by.
- 5:14What's up, Sir? Good to see you again.
- 5:16Thanks for tuning in, Festival announcement time.
- 5:19And just for some housekeeping. Hey, what's up?
- 5:22Just for some housekeeping again.
- 5:24I have a weekly live stream every Thursday where we recap
- 5:26the week's events, drama, news, concert tours and festivals,
- 5:30etcetera etcetera. We paid tribute to He's Freely
- 5:34on Friday, my good buddy Ken Pierce of Piercing that will
- 5:37join me. He is the biggest KISS fan I
- 5:39know and we chopped it up about Ace for quite some time.
- 5:43I'm sure there'll be some more Ace stuff and discussions.
- 5:47We're still kind of unpacking all this with a crazy time in
- 5:50our lives that all our heroes are leaving us.
- 5:52But much appreciated for everybody that passed by.
- 5:55And like I said, we always hope to encourage some tipping.
- 6:05We do make some money from advertising, but we are not
- 6:07corporate backed. So that is the whole thing.
- 6:11Just so you know, somebody told me that I need to space these
- 6:17guys out a little bit, but we do cash app, we do Kofi, we do
- 6:21PayPal, we do Venmo, whatever works for you.
- 6:24But I like cash app lately the most dropped that too.
- 6:29Cash app at goes cold man, dollar sign goes cold man.
- 6:31So we we did the thing and talked about ace.
- 6:36And then again, there's our tip menu and here's the cash App QR
- 6:39code in case you're so inclined. Hey, just me is here.
- 6:42What's up? Just me talking about some metal
- 6:44festival action. Just me as one of our loyalist
- 6:48followers on TikTok and I'm always appreciative.
- 6:50So what are we here to talk about?
- 6:51The Mojave Experience is a brand new Stoner doom psychedelic rock
- 6:56festival in the spirit of the original desert scene festivals
- 7:00and happenings that were not very well advertised.
- 7:03It was a tight community of people, word of mouth.
- 7:06Go to the desert, set up a generator, jam, party, drink
- 7:11toque, drop stuff. Whatever you do, do it safely
- 7:15and hydrate and generally dance and have a good time.
- 7:18I mean that's what it's all about.
- 7:19March 2020, sixth, March 20th and 21st in Joshua Tree.
- 7:24I am so pumped. We already announced a couple of
- 7:27new bands last week. They already made the prior
- 7:29announcement. I will recap all of that before
- 7:31I announce the next two. The friendly me is back.
- 7:35What's up? The friendly me.
- 7:38So they already announced Ted Meadow.
- 7:41San Francisco's on Stoner rock legends, also earthless from San
- 7:46Diego. Incredible band.
- 7:49They are worth the price of admission for the Liquid Light
- 7:51show alone and just an incredible band.
- 7:55They really can do no wrong in my eyes.
- 7:57Last week of this very spot we announced John Garcia doing.
- 8:01He's been touring with his solo band and doing an absolute
- 8:04banger job of a retrospective setlist featuring Caius and Slow
- 8:10Bird and You Need A and all the things.
- 8:13John is one of the preeminent vocalists of of Stoner rock and
- 8:17and and dune metal influence so many people.
- 8:20He's maybe the best singular voice there is.
- 8:22And like I said, really the first guy to not try to strictly
- 8:26sound like Ozzy or Dio and try to be himself, which I really
- 8:29respect. Shameless plug as I drink my
- 8:34liquid death. And then we also announced Acid
- 8:37King, again, Bay Area based. I have all the Acid King records
- 8:41on vinyl, including their comeback record a couple of
- 8:44years ago. Laurie is a treasurer.
- 8:47I see her at shows and she's a huge metal fan and a just a big
- 8:51supporter of other artists, which I really love.
- 8:54And I think it's going to be like an epic experience.
- 8:56And it's super cool that there is actually some femininity
- 9:00represented in our scene. Like there's just not enough of
- 9:04it. There was some great bands that
- 9:07have femme singers, but we really need the true
- 9:10representation. Hey, southeast of them, what's
- 9:12up? What's up?
- 9:13Thanks, brother. Hey, Gabe is here from Auntie
- 9:21Mosby's Gabe. We're doing our weekly
- 9:22announcement for the Mojave Experience Stoner Rock and Dune
- 9:26Festival. And Gabe's a big psychedelic
- 9:29rock person too. So now that we've caught you up
- 9:33on all the previous announcements today, I am proud
- 9:36and pleased to announce 2 new artists.
- 9:39And if you were not already hooked by the previous bunch,
- 9:44check this out. Mario Lali and the rubber snake
- 9:48charmers. Oh my God, so Mario is
- 9:50synonymous with this music. He's been making this music for
- 9:5345 years. Bassing guitar.
- 9:55You know him probably best from Yawning Man.
- 9:59And offshoots he was in what could be considered the
- 10:02foundational band besides Sabbath and a bunch of stone
- 10:06rock bands and 70's rock bands. But in terms of the underground,
- 10:0980s desert scene across the river, I used to have their
- 10:13tapes, terribly dubbed tapes that I got at Lower East Side in
- 10:18New York City flea market that had tapes and videotapes from
- 10:23around the world. And Mario's an incredible
- 10:27artist. He put together basically a
- 10:29super group of dudes to, you know, I know that a lot of super
- 10:33groups are not super, but this album that came out last year,
- 10:37Mario Lally and the Rubber Snake charmers other folklore from the
- 10:43other desert cities. And this is Mario Sean Wheeler
- 10:48on poetry, sort of vocal ish, sort of vocals poetry.
- 10:52Brent Bjork, of course, you know him from Caius and Brent Bjork
- 10:55and a million other bands and Ryan Gutt.
- 10:58I hope I said that correctly. What an incredible record.
- 11:01It's kind of like a live record. You know, this is going to be
- 11:03like a spiritual awakening type of event concert from them.
- 11:09So in the desert where they belong, making this music.
- 11:13I mean, it's going to be insane. I am so hyped for these.
- 11:17And then furthermore, so this album is out now on Heavy Psych
- 11:23Sounds, which we've covered a lot of.
- 11:25I've interviewed the label head and I have quite a bunch of
- 11:29Heavy Suck Sounds vinyl in my collection.
- 11:31And I'm pleased to say, and this record is still available for
- 11:34purchase. You can go check it out.
- 11:37You know, it's like a 40 minute record with four songs, exactly
- 11:40what you want. And this came out about a year
- 11:44and a half ago, March 29th, 2024.
- 11:48And you know, I love what Sean, Sean described this audience
- 11:53perfectly on this record. There's a thing where he says
- 11:55you're all here for a celebration of life and not the
- 11:59fake hypocrisy of the world. So I mean, like absolutely
- 12:02incredible. I'm paraphrasing, of course,
- 12:05Fumblefoot is passing by. What's up, Ron?
- 12:07And John Graham is here. And then so that's I mean, like
- 12:11right off the bat, that's just a humongous addition to the line
- 12:15up. And now one more just to keep it
- 12:19a hundo. I am so honored to discuss
- 12:23Ecstatic Visions addition to this line up.
- 12:25This is a band from Philly that I have been into for ages and
- 12:32saw them in New York City and Philly.
- 12:34I haven't seen them in quite a while, but they're so good and
- 12:37they're so good live. Their most recent album was
- 12:412022's Elusive Mojo. I would love to know if they are
- 12:45working on a new record. Also from the Heavy Sights
- 12:47Sounds label. Again, cannot miss, cannot go
- 12:51wrong. Just an absolute killer band
- 12:53live. And so now you have This is
- 12:57becoming a Titanic lineup and there's still more coming.
- 13:01So I mean, like, again, if this is your scene and this is your
- 13:04genre desert fest, I hope someday we'll come back to New
- 13:07York. We've covered them, you know,
- 13:11sometimes the Decibel metal and beer festivals have some Stoner
- 13:14bands, but it's mostly extreme metal as Decibel as want to do.
- 13:18We did have a heavy psych sound San Francisco, which was
- 13:21wonderful. I know Ripple Music is doing the
- 13:2315th anniversary party, but this is your jam.
- 13:26If you're in California, if you're in Nevada, if you're in
- 13:29the southeast, if you're in the southwest, if you're in the East
- 13:31Coast, if you're in Europe, come to Joshua Tree.
- 13:35I've never been. I'm super excited to go.
- 13:37Imagine hearing all this incredible music with like
- 13:40minded individuals. Nobody's there to make a bad
- 13:42time. Everybody's there to have a good
- 13:43time. You know everybody's going to be
- 13:46cool and it's going to be art and music and cool vendors and
- 13:50all the things. I've been in touch with Patrick.
- 13:52Patrick of the Van Volume has put this thing on and put this
- 13:56thing and I'm really excited. I talked to him over the
- 14:00weekend. We were chopping it up and
- 14:01talking about things. Oh, hey, VW is back.
- 14:03Thanks so much again, man. Oh, thanks again for the Ace
- 14:06tribute. It was awesome and great, great
- 14:08musician. Miss the Ace bro so much, man.
- 14:11It's right in the childhood. I really, you know, like I, I
- 14:14really, I wasn't ready for Ozzy and I'm still processing my
- 14:17grief about that. And then, you know, honestly,
- 14:20it's been a crazy summer. Bret Hines and Sam from Limp
- 14:24Bizkit over the weekend. Whatever you feel about that,
- 14:27man. He was really like a part of a
- 14:29whole movement of American Music 25 years ago.
- 14:32But this, you know, we've lost Ozzy.
- 14:34He was really our North Star for doom and Stoner medal and Stoner
- 14:38rock and weed and all the things he did all the things first.
- 14:43So thank you, man. I appreciate the the tip and the
- 14:46the Super. Thanks.
- 14:47That's really meaningful. Every little bit helps every
- 14:50little subscribe every little bit.
- 14:53So yeah, man, that's your and there's their new record,
- 14:55Elusive Mojo. So their most recent record.
- 14:57Hopefully they'll announce a new one.
- 14:59And that's our line up update for the Mojave experience coming
- 15:03in at a very reasonable 15 minutes.
- 15:05Everybody who tuned in today. Thanks everybody listening on
- 15:08the follow up podcast of the reboot.
- 15:09You know rewatch this highly rewatchable on your sites where
- 15:15you stream. Thanks so much for supporting
- 15:16us. I will be dropped a new
- 15:19interview video this morning with Dave of Revocation.
- 15:21If you like some technical death metal and great guitar shit.
- 15:24I also love talking jazz with Dave because he's a big jazz nut
- 15:27and jazz player also when he's not making metal.
- 15:30We have more interviews coming later this week.
- 15:32My show will be on Thursday. Check us out wherever you check
- 15:36out your videos and your podcast.
- 15:38I'm Kefi at ghostcultman.com. Shout out to Patrick and the
- 15:41Mojave Experience. This is shaping up to be a
- 15:44banger of a festival. And Yep, Ozzie and Rodger,
- 15:49Arizona. Oh, yeah, bro, for sure.
- 15:51You know, Pink Floyd is my favorite band ever.
- 15:53And I can't. I can't fucking.
- 15:56I cannot with Ozzie. I cannot with Roger.
- 15:58I miss Ozzie, I'll be back soon. Thanks for watching.
- 16:02More to come from the Mojave experience.
- 16:06Take care and peace. A double pieced a better peace
- 16:11out.
