- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Breaking this morning, the guy who killed Tupac, Dwayne Kifidi Davis,
- 0:06Speaker 2: has been sentenced to prison.
- 0:08Speaker 1: He got 40 years to life.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Now, this obviously is for a murder that happened in 1996,
- 0:14Speaker 2: 30 years ago. At the time, Dwayne was 33 years old.
- 0:18Speaker 2: He's now 63 years old. So 40 years to life,
- 0:21Speaker 2: he's going to die in prison.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 0:22Speaker 3: How has he just been walking around for 30, like,
- 0:25Speaker 3: why are they convicting him now?
- 0:26Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing, right?
- 0:27Speaker 2: So he was charged with first degree murder with the
- 0:29Speaker 2: use of a deadly weapon. And he has been going
- 0:32Speaker 2: around for years, literally bragging about it in interviews. He
- 0:36Speaker 2: even wrote a memoir, self-published memoir called Compton Street Legend,
- 0:40Speaker 2: where he called himself the shot caller in the entire thing.
- 0:44Speaker 2: So he has literally been saying, arrest me, I did
- 0:47Speaker 2: it for years. And it wasn't until recently where they
- 0:49Speaker 2: did like a search a couple of years ago where
- 0:51Speaker 2: they went to his house and did a full search
- 0:53Speaker 2: and found things that they could eventually convict him with
- 0:56Speaker 2: that he was actually officially caught. But anyway, let's have
- 0:59Speaker 2: a listen to the moment where he was told he's
- 1:01Speaker 2: got 40 years in prison.
- 1:03Speaker 4: You don't get to take a man from his family.
- 1:06Speaker 4: You don't get to take his very life, his whole
- 1:08Speaker 4: future from him and just walk away from it. especially
- 1:11Speaker 4: when that man.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Is Tupac Shakur.
- 1:14Speaker 4: The world never forgot about him and his death, and
- 1:16Speaker 4: neither did Las Vegas. It took us 30 years, but
- 1:19Speaker 4: at this time, you are going to face justice for
- 1:21Speaker 4: what you did on September 7, 1996. In accordance with
- 1:25Speaker 4: the laws of the state of Nevada, you're hereby judged
- 1:27Speaker 4: guilty of first-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon,
- 1:29Speaker 4: a felony. You're going to impose the $ 25 administrative assessment fee,
- 1:33Speaker 4: $ 3 DNA collection fee, $ 150 DNA fee, as well.
- 1:35Speaker 2: As the test.
- 1:37Speaker 4: As to the first degree murder portion, you are sentenced
- 1:39Speaker 4: to 20 years to life. As to the deadly weapon enhancement,
- 1:43Speaker 4: you are sentenced to a mandatory consecutive 20 years to life.
- 1:47Speaker 4: The aggregate sentence is 40 years to life. You have
- 1:51Speaker 4: 731 days credit time served toward that sentence.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so he's already in prison, which is why he's
- 1:55Speaker 2: got credit. Yeah, so he's been in there, it sounds like,
- 1:58Speaker 2: for two and a bit years.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I'd be more concerned about those fees.
- 2:01Speaker 4: How's he going to afford them?
- 2:03Speaker 2: He pleaded not guilty, despite everything. And he spoke briefly
- 2:07Speaker 2: in court. You know how sometimes they say, is there
- 2:09Speaker 2: anything you want to say? And a lot of the
- 2:10Speaker 2: time they either say no, or they'll say, I'm really
- 2:13Speaker 2: sorry for the pain that I caused the family and
- 2:15Speaker 2: everything like that.
- 2:16Speaker 1: He said something.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Although all he said is he told the judge
- 2:19Speaker 2: he wanted some of the belongings the police took from
- 2:21Speaker 2: his house, like his pictures, to be.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Returned to him.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:23Speaker 1: He just wants his pictures back.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And then he goes, there's nothing more I want to say.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I can't believe he's just been walking around, like murdering
- 2:30Speaker 3: someone and then just cruising around the streets for 20-odd years.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Well, cut.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Matches up with you eventually.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah, you always get caught even if it takes 30 years. Also,
- 2:39Speaker 2: friend of the show and former NRL player Jai Arrow
- 2:42Speaker 2: and his wife Barina tied the knot for the second
- 2:45Speaker 2: time in an intimate ceremony in Sicily. You may have
- 2:48Speaker 2: seen these photos posted yesterday. It was a Vogue Australia wedding,
- 2:52Speaker 2: which I love. So they obviously had their first wedding,
- 2:54Speaker 2: a civil ceremony, in July in Sydney. And now they've
- 2:58Speaker 2: done it in Sicily, which is where Jai actually proposed
- 3:01Speaker 2: back in 2024.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Oh, lovely.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Lovely.
- 3:02Speaker 2: It's been two years, though, since that happened, and a
- 3:05Speaker 2: lot has changed in those two years.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Not only did.
- 3:09Speaker 2: They welcome their daughter Isla last year, but, of course,
- 3:12Speaker 2: Jai was diagnosed and revealed that he was retiring from
- 3:15Speaker 2: rugby league due to motor neurone disease.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Really beautiful that they got to experience that together in
- 3:21Speaker 2: Sicily and he could still travel and was able to
- 3:23Speaker 2: do so. They celebrated with 65 guests who travelled from
- 3:26Speaker 2: both Australia and Canada, which is where Barina's from.
- 3:29Speaker 1: The photos are online. She looks so beautiful. She looks beautiful.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that veil.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Wow.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Congratulations, Jai and Barina. Just an ocean wedding for you, maybe, Nat.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I actually have been thinking, so I don't want a
- 3:42Speaker 1: big wedding.
- 3:42Speaker 2: So I've got two schools of thought where it's like
- 3:45Speaker 2: I just do a little one here and get it
- 3:46Speaker 2: done or after I give birth, go to Croatia and
- 3:50Speaker 2: do it there.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Destination wedding is a really good way to weed out guests.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Not to say like you don't want all.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Those people there.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Oh, no, I don't want a lot of people.
- 4:00Speaker 3: A destination wedding will deter a lot of people just
- 4:03Speaker 3: for cost, financial reasons and whatnot. Right. But also you
- 4:06Speaker 3: were saying that you would essentially honeymoon in Croatia, right?
- 4:10Speaker 1: Well, I thought my honeymoon ideally would be Europe anyway.
- 4:13Speaker 2: So I'm doing the flight. I'm just bringing everyone over.
- 4:16Speaker 2: And then once the wedding's done, I'll keep my parents
- 4:20Speaker 2: there and say, hey, can you mind the daughter while
- 4:22Speaker 2: I go out and we have fun? But, yeah, it
- 4:25Speaker 2: would just mean it restricts some of the elderly relatives
- 4:28Speaker 2: who can't really travel that far anymore.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:31Speaker 2: You say that, but I do want, like, my pop
- 4:33Speaker 2: there and my bubba there and.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Things like that. So we'll see. Maybe I'll do two weddings.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Maybe I'll be one of those people that does three weddings. Yeah.
- 4:40Speaker 3: My girlfriend did two weddings. She got married in Bali
- 4:42Speaker 3: and then came home and did another.
- 4:44Speaker 1: So many people get married in Bali. For her elderly grandparents.
- 4:49Speaker 4: True.
- 4:49Speaker 1: So I could always do a little one here just
- 4:50Speaker 1: for them and have a nice, like, lunch.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Yes.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And then do a bigger one in Croatia.
- 4:55Speaker 3: What about a wedding in, like, Pattaya, Thailand or something? Oh. Imagine,
- 4:59Speaker 3: I reckon like if you and Alana get married, that's
- 5:01Speaker 3: where you would want to do it.
- 5:02Speaker 1: You would want to do it there for sure.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Pataya. Yeah.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I reckon you would. I don't reckon Alana would. Have
- 5:07Speaker 1: you seen what that is like? I've seen videos.
- 5:09Speaker 2: The most recent one was that guy walking down the
- 5:11Speaker 2: street with shit down his legs.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I don't have an idea of what it's like.
