Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to Reality TV Cringe. I'm Delia. I'm
- 0:10Speaker 1: one of your hosts, and I'm here with my real
- 0:11Speaker 1: tight homegirl and my daughter in law, the gorgeous and
- 0:15Speaker 1: the gay Beatre. That's me. We are here to talk
- 0:19Speaker 1: sister wise, honey. We are currently in a rewind season,
- 0:26Speaker 1: and specifically we are in season eight, yes, which is
- 0:29Speaker 1: a very interesting and strange season where we're ultimately going
- 0:34Speaker 1: to get to the divorce Cody and Mary and the
- 0:38Speaker 1: adoption of Robin's tenders and so I've been having fun.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Now, before we get into this recap, we do want
- 0:44Speaker 1: to let you know that we're going to have an
- 0:46Speaker 1: after show because a little bit of conscience dropped from
- 0:52Speaker 1: none other than Mchalty Pedrone and her husband too many Tacos,
- 0:58Speaker 1: Tony Padrone. They made like a little cheeky real or
- 1:03Speaker 1: TikTok or whatever, and it was actually kind of shady,
- 1:09Speaker 1: kind of snirky, and it seemed like it was directed
- 1:12Speaker 1: to Cody and Robin.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:13Speaker 1: We're gonna watch it after this episode and we're going
- 1:16Speaker 1: to speculate and critique, and so if you are a patron,
- 1:20Speaker 1: you're going to be able to have access to that
- 1:22Speaker 1: after show. And if you're not a patron, why aren't
- 1:24Speaker 1: you a patron? You should be able to have access
- 1:26Speaker 1: to that and so much more for real. Now, before
- 1:30Speaker 1: we get into the actual recap, we do have to
- 1:32Speaker 1: issue you a disclaimer. Please hid your wife and hide
- 1:36Speaker 1: your kids. This isn't a Reverend podcast with two chicks
- 1:41Speaker 1: in wigs on the internet, just here to have some
- 1:45Speaker 1: fun and say bad words and kiki a little bit. Yeah,
- 1:48Speaker 1: And so if you're.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Thoughts a get out of here, you little baby.
- 1:53Speaker 1: You might want to find yourself another dumpster. But if
- 1:57Speaker 1: you're ready to go on yet another road trip back
- 2:01Speaker 1: up to Utah now to grab Grandma Annie and bring
- 2:03Speaker 1: her home to Christine, well, then welcome to this dumpster.

- 2:47Speaker 1: guess allegedly, and so thank you in Now do we
- 2:52Speaker 1: want to do takeaways?
- 2:53Speaker 2: Girl?
- 2:54Speaker 3: No?
- 2:54Speaker 1: Okay, this was kind of a It wasn't a nothing burger. Yeah,
- 2:58Speaker 1: there were morsels here that were definitely out of bule. Yeah,
- 3:02Speaker 1: but I mean it was kind of boring.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Yeah, this season kind of starts off slow and then
- 3:07Speaker 3: it starts picking up and then season nine is really
- 3:09Speaker 3: good and then we start getting into the cap and
- 3:14Speaker 3: more family trips that are very drama malicious. So yeah,
- 3:17Speaker 3: this episode was kind of, eh, whatever. It's centered around
- 3:21Speaker 3: a lot of moving. So this episode's entitled One More
- 3:24Speaker 3: Woman in Cody's Life because of course, Cody's gotta let
- 3:28Speaker 3: everybody know he's out numbered by all them bitches in
- 3:31Speaker 3: his life. It's just too much for one man to handle.
- 3:34Speaker 1: It's all these women in transitional phases in their life.
- 3:38Speaker 1: But all that matters is how it relates to Cody.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Exact and how he feels about it exactly.
- 3:43Speaker 3: And so this episode to me kind of stressed me
- 3:46Speaker 3: out a little with all of the moving. I've moved
- 3:48Speaker 3: around one million times in my life, and I'm just
- 3:50Speaker 3: like watching people do it just sends me back to
- 3:54Speaker 3: a police I don't even to a dark place it times.
- 3:58Speaker 3: And so we've got Michelte and who are moving out
- 4:01Speaker 3: of the house, which is great. They got an apartment together,
- 4:05Speaker 3: they're going to college or whatever. And I was kind
- 4:08Speaker 3: of bored.
- 4:09Speaker 1: By this segment.
- 4:10Speaker 3: I mean, Cody gets all sweaty and he's frustrated having
- 4:13Speaker 3: to move his daughters out of the house, and he
- 4:15Speaker 3: seems very like disconnected from the whole thing. He like
- 4:20Speaker 3: doesn't even really talk to them when he moves them out.
- 4:23Speaker 3: He's like, Okay, be good, love you bye.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Yeah. The only thing I could think about during this
- 4:28Speaker 1: entire segment was like, how much I would not want to.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Live with McKelty, Oh my god, I know.
- 4:33Speaker 1: And how different, like diametrically opposed Aspen and McKelty are.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Aspen strikes me as kind of a quiet girl organized.
- 4:42Speaker 1: She's got her hopes and her dreams, she's got goals
- 4:45Speaker 1: that she's planning for herself, and then we have McKelty
- 4:48Speaker 1: who's kind of just throwing things at the wall to
- 4:50Speaker 1: see what sticks. Yeah, and to have both of these
- 4:53Speaker 1: girls live together, and of course they've lived together in
- 4:55Speaker 1: the same house all their lives, but now in an apartment. Yeah,
- 4:58Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know how this is going
- 4:59Speaker 1: to work. And I don't think if I recall correctly,
- 5:03Speaker 1: that they stay for long in the apartment, because doesn't
- 5:05Speaker 1: MCKELTI head on down to Saint George, Utah and ultimately
- 5:09Speaker 1: meet Tony Piedrome.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I think so, because in this episode they're talking about
- 5:13Speaker 3: how they're going to live with each other all through
- 5:16Speaker 3: college and probably after college, and I'm just like, I
- 5:19Speaker 3: don't think you'll do. I think you last maybe a
- 5:21Speaker 3: year here, And then mkelty's off fucking Tony and working
- 5:26Speaker 3: at the pawn shop.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 3: So I don't know, but it seems like they're hopeful
- 5:31Speaker 3: and they're happy, and I think it's fun to move
- 5:34Speaker 3: out and have your own place, especially the ripe old
- 5:37Speaker 3: age of eighteen. Like they're excited about it. But Mikelti's
- 5:40Speaker 3: got so much shit she fills up pretty much in
- 5:43Speaker 3: an entire U haul, and I'm just like, girl, why
- 5:47Speaker 3: why do you have so much crap? But then you
- 5:49Speaker 3: know you have Christine who's emotional because it's her kids
- 5:53Speaker 3: moving out, But then she's even more emotional because she's
- 5:56Speaker 3: losing out on her free help.
- 5:57Speaker 1: That's the first thing she actually says, Yes, I'm upset
- 6:01Speaker 1: that my daughters are leaving, but most of all because
- 6:03Speaker 1: there goes my help, there goes my parentified kids.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Yikes. I'm like, that's not a good look, Christine, But okay, whatever,
- 6:12Speaker 3: So they move out, Cody says goodbye, Christine says goodbye,
- 6:15Speaker 3: and we're done. Then we go back to Vegas where
- 6:18Speaker 3: we're packing up because we're gonna head out to Utah
- 6:22Speaker 3: because we're gonna go move Grandma Annie down to Vegas.
- 6:26Speaker 3: But they have to help pack up her whole house
- 6:29Speaker 3: and like load everything up. It's like a whole chaotic thing.
- 6:34Speaker 3: But while we're back in Vegas figuring out the logistics,
- 6:37Speaker 3: we have Cody and Christine and Mary fighting about cars
- 6:41Speaker 3: and how many cars they need to take up to Utah,
- 6:44Speaker 3: and you know, whether it makes sense to have extra
- 6:47Speaker 3: cars or less cars, and.
- 6:50Speaker 1: It's just chaotic pandemonium. It's tall the time. And he's
- 6:55Speaker 1: also very rude when he's speaking to Mary and Christine. Yes,
- 6:58Speaker 1: like he's he's like, can you guys just hear what
- 7:01Speaker 1: I'm saying and then do it and then let me leave. Yeah,
- 7:04Speaker 1: he doesn't even he doesn't want to have a conversation
- 7:06Speaker 1: with either of these women. He doesn't want to be
- 7:08Speaker 1: in the same room with them, and he just storms out.
- 7:11Speaker 1: And then Mary and Christine both agree what I think
- 7:14Speaker 1: having more cars is better? Actually, so fuck Cody. Yeah,
- 7:18Speaker 1: and they take more cars.
- 7:19Speaker 3: They do. It's kind of ridiculous.
- 7:21Speaker 1: It does it matter? I don't know, We're not driving
- 7:23Speaker 1: all six cars.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not that big of a deal. I think
- 7:26Speaker 3: he was just like stressing out about all of it
- 7:28Speaker 3: and then having to move his daughters out like the
- 7:31Speaker 3: week prior. Like I can understand it from a perspective
- 7:34Speaker 3: of like, this is a lot. It's it's overwhelming to
- 7:37Speaker 3: move everybody on your own as well and then have
- 7:40Speaker 3: to go do it again the next week. But this
- 7:42Speaker 3: is the life you chose, this is Polygaby, You're gonna
- 7:45Speaker 3: have to deal with it.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Yep.
- 7:47Speaker 3: So crime me a river, you know. But while we're
- 7:50Speaker 3: in Vegas, we have this kind of interesting conversation between
- 7:53Speaker 3: the adults, Like on the couch, we're talking about like
- 7:57Speaker 3: moving Annie in, what that will mean, how it'll shift
- 8:00Speaker 3: the dynamic. It's one more woman for Cody to have
- 8:02Speaker 3: to deal with, Oh my gosh. But Christine is thankful
- 8:05Speaker 3: to have her mom be there with her to support
- 8:08Speaker 3: and also help her with her kids, which is interesting.
- 8:12Speaker 3: And then this, you know, prompts a discussion between the
- 8:17Speaker 3: lives the sister wives and like raising children and being
- 8:21Speaker 3: there together. So when it was the three of them, Christine,
- 8:25Speaker 3: Mary and Janelle and Lehi, they all worked together to
- 8:30Speaker 3: raise each other's kids because they had one thousand children
- 8:33Speaker 3: all at the same time and they needed to all
- 8:36Speaker 3: work together. But now that they're in Vegas and we
- 8:39Speaker 3: have Robin in the mix, they're all pretty separate. And
- 8:42Speaker 3: for Christine that's a pain point because part of the
- 8:46Speaker 3: reason why she wanted to be in polygamy and be
- 8:49Speaker 3: a sister wife is she wanted to be a mom
- 8:52Speaker 3: to all of the kids. She wanted to be involved,
- 8:55Speaker 3: she wanted to develop that sister wife relationship where they're
- 8:58Speaker 3: all raising everybody together. And this is where Christine calls
- 9:02Speaker 3: Robin out on the book and couch and Robin looks
- 9:06Speaker 3: blindsided because at this point in time in Vegas, Robin
- 9:11Speaker 3: has enlisted or hired her niece Mindy to be a
- 9:17Speaker 3: babysitter to her kids. And Christine calls Robin out and says,
- 9:21Speaker 3: you know, I was pretty hurt by that. I felt
- 9:24Speaker 3: offended that you didn't trust me to at least take
- 9:27Speaker 3: care of your children. And Robin is like.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Are you kidding me? Right now? She actually says something
- 9:32Speaker 1: like that, are you serious right now?
- 9:34Speaker 3: Like are you for real?
- 9:35Speaker 1: And Christine's like, I'm absolutely serious. I was hoping that
- 9:38Speaker 1: we were going to be able to get into the
- 9:39Speaker 1: call de sac. We're supposed to be close to each other. Now,
- 9:43Speaker 1: our families are going to be intermingling again, and I
- 9:46Speaker 1: was hoping I would have some sort of a role
- 9:48Speaker 1: in your children's lives, and that's what I really want.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And Robin doesn't know what to say, because Robin is
- 9:54Speaker 1: at this time icing out Christine, totally icing out Janelle,
- 9:58Speaker 1: and she's in her own mansion just fucking Cody twenty
- 10:01Speaker 1: four to seven, and that's the way she wants it, honey.
- 10:04Speaker 3: And it's crazy to me because I didn't realize she
- 10:06Speaker 3: had hired a babysitter so early on, but it really
- 10:09Speaker 3: is right from the beginning, and it doesn't really make sense.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Like Christine and Janelle have more kids than Robin at
- 10:16Speaker 3: this point, and they don't have a babysitter. They're not
- 10:19Speaker 3: paying anybody to take care.
- 10:21Speaker 1: They never had money though, and now the family has money, but.
- 10:24Speaker 3: It just it still doesn't make any sense when you
- 10:26Speaker 3: have all these other women around that can actually help,
- 10:30Speaker 3: and you have Mary who's an empty nester.
- 10:32Speaker 1: And wants to be more present in the lives of
- 10:34Speaker 1: the young children. She says that on the couch as well. Exactly,
- 10:37Speaker 1: she's crying. She is, but she's alone in her mansion. Yeah,
- 10:41Speaker 1: then her imagine crying.
- 10:42Speaker 3: But okay, Robin's gonna have a babysitter, and she doesn't
- 10:45Speaker 3: want the other wives to raise their kids. Weird.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Her excuse is that she's working, right, I'm like a
- 10:51Speaker 1: business woman. I have this business called my sister Wife's Closet,
- 10:56Speaker 1: and we're all busy. What they're busy with is filming,
- 10:59Speaker 1: though they're not actually busy with the website, right, and
- 11:03Speaker 1: so it doesn't make sense to me.
- 11:04Speaker 3: And Robin also says, you know, well, I know the
- 11:07Speaker 3: other wives are working too, and we're all working the
- 11:09Speaker 3: same hours, so they can't watch my kids, so I
- 11:11Speaker 3: have to have a babysitter. And I'm like, okay, by
- 11:14Speaker 3: that logic, then who's watching the other kids? Like, girl,
- 11:17Speaker 3: you don't make any sense. I just loved Robin being
- 11:21Speaker 3: blindsided in this moment, and I loved that she seemed
- 11:25Speaker 3: genuinely unprepared to answer this question, and it seemed like
- 11:28Speaker 3: her and Cody were kind of pissed at Christine for
- 11:31Speaker 3: bringing it up, but now knowing what we know now,
- 11:35Speaker 3: like Christine had to bring it up at this point
- 11:37Speaker 3: in time because they weren't talking to each other after filming,
- 11:41Speaker 3: like they were all living in their separate houses. They
- 11:43Speaker 3: were all like doing their own thing. So when was
- 11:47Speaker 3: she going to bring it up? Mm hmmm, better do
- 11:49Speaker 3: it on TV where.
- 11:51Speaker 1: She's not going to be shut down immediately by coactly exactly.
- 11:54Speaker 3: So that was pretty juicy. And then we go back
- 11:57Speaker 3: to moving Annie in and this was like the book
- 12:00Speaker 3: of the episode. So we head up to Utah. Annie
- 12:04Speaker 3: is in her house. She's got some of her stuff packed,
- 12:07Speaker 3: but you know, she's a grandma and she likes to craft,
- 12:10Speaker 3: and she's got a lot.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Of shit in banana boxes, so much shit, so much
- 12:16Speaker 1: it gave me anxiety.
- 12:17Speaker 3: I know, it's way too fucking much.
- 12:19Speaker 1: You're gonna bring that into my home? If I'm Christine,
- 12:22Speaker 1: Where am I gonna put all your shit?
- 12:23Speaker 3: Girl?
- 12:24Speaker 1: Going in a storage unit?
- 12:28Speaker 3: Christine says that her mom used to like make purses
- 12:31Speaker 3: and bags and stuff like that and sell them at
- 12:33Speaker 3: farmers markets, and so that's why she has so much
- 12:35Speaker 3: crap in her basement, and now that she's going to
- 12:37Speaker 3: be moving in with Christine, she's going to be picking
- 12:39Speaker 3: that up again. And I'm like, where is she going
- 12:42Speaker 3: to use like Michelt's old room as a storage unit.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Well, she's getting the family room whatever that is. So
- 12:49Speaker 1: she's like in a loft bedroom with a family room extension.
- 12:53Speaker 1: She'll have a lot of space I guess to put
- 12:55Speaker 1: all of her crap. I guess.
- 12:57Speaker 3: But God bless, I'm not trying to rag on Annie,
- 13:00Speaker 3: because honestly, Annie is so pleasant.
- 13:03Speaker 2: And so sweet.
- 13:04Speaker 3: I actually really liked hearing from her in this episode because,
- 13:07Speaker 3: you know, as the family is packing everything up and
- 13:10Speaker 3: figuring out, you know, how to load the U haul
- 13:12Speaker 3: and whatnot, we hear more about Annie and her story,
- 13:16Speaker 3: which to a lot of you is gonna be old
- 13:18Speaker 3: news because we've heard it a time or two before.
- 13:21Speaker 3: But Annie grew up in polygamy. She had the lightning
- 13:26Speaker 3: bowl in her bosom or whenever I was fourteen years
- 13:29Speaker 3: old that she was going to marry this guy and
- 13:32Speaker 3: she didn't even like him. And she says that in
- 13:35Speaker 3: the episode, She's like, I knew I had to marry him,
- 13:38Speaker 3: but I wasn't really into him. So I knew I
- 13:41Speaker 3: had to force myself to be in love because that's
- 13:44Speaker 3: what God told me I needed to do. And I
- 13:46Speaker 3: think they were married eleven years or something before.
- 13:49Speaker 1: She got married at seventeen, she was six months pregnant
- 13:51Speaker 1: when she graduated high school.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Yeah, so I don't want the girl you were fucking
- 13:56Speaker 3: before you were married. Isn't that bad?
- 13:58Speaker 1: I don't know, isn't that? But she was the first wife, Yeah,
- 14:02Speaker 1: so she was the legal wife yep. And they were
- 14:04Speaker 1: married for eleven years before he introduced the second wife,
- 14:09Speaker 1: And as soon as they got back from their honeymoon,
- 14:11Speaker 1: she said things went downhill instantly.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Yikes. And so once he courts and marries the second wife,
- 14:18Speaker 3: she became even more unhappy and she had a defining moment.
- 14:23Speaker 3: I don't think she really articulated what the moment was,
- 14:26Speaker 3: but she had a moment in her past where she realized,
- 14:29Speaker 3: I'm not happy, I need to.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Leave, and I don't believe this anymore.
- 14:32Speaker 3: I don't lost her faith yep. And so then ultimately
- 14:36Speaker 3: she divorced Christine's dad when she was five years old.
- 14:41Speaker 3: And this not now five years old.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Christine was five when the second mom came into the family.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Christine I think was eighteen or so when Annie left
- 14:50Speaker 1: the family.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Correct, sorry IM spoke there, but yeah, So when Annie
- 14:56Speaker 3: left her husband, Christine's dad, Christine obviously was devastated. Her
- 15:01Speaker 3: whole worldview was shattered, and she was hurt because, you know,
- 15:05Speaker 3: she was brought up in this faith and brought up
- 15:08Speaker 3: a particular way, and to have her mom, you know,
- 15:11Speaker 3: ultimately break all of that was earth shattering. So Christine
- 15:18Speaker 3: was upset with her mom for a little while, but
- 15:20Speaker 3: then she ultimately, I don't know, like their relationship was
- 15:24Speaker 3: very I don't want to say rocky.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Well it was rocky because it sounds like almost immediately
- 15:31Speaker 1: Annie ends up in some sort of anti polygamy group,
- 15:35Speaker 1: it turns into an anti polygamy group. I think it
- 15:38Speaker 1: starts out as a support system for people leaving polygamy
- 15:42Speaker 1: who need help and resources, and so Annie wanted to
- 15:44Speaker 1: be a part of that, but it kind of turned
- 15:46Speaker 1: into this anti lobbying group to get rid of polygamy,
- 15:50Speaker 1: and as far as Cody and Christine are concerned, like
- 15:53Speaker 1: attack polygamist families. So at some point, both Christine and
- 15:57Speaker 1: Cody get really scared because Annie is affiliated with this group,
- 16:02Speaker 1: and obviously they're a polygamous family. And so this is
- 16:05Speaker 1: one of the reasons according to Cody, who I don't
- 16:07Speaker 1: believe anything he says, but according to Cody, this is
- 16:10Speaker 1: one of the reasons that they end up ultimately leaving
- 16:12Speaker 1: Utah at some point, which we know that whole story
- 16:15Speaker 1: and don't need to go over it. And then Christine
- 16:17Speaker 1: goes no contact with her mother. Yeah, and it sounds
- 16:20Speaker 1: like Christine goes no contact with her mother without like
- 16:23Speaker 1: a conversation, because after six months it's Mama Cheryl, I think, right,
- 16:28Speaker 1: So Janelle's mother who tells both Cody and Christine like,
- 16:32Speaker 1: you should not go no contact with Annie. She's a
- 16:35Speaker 1: good woman, she loves you, she loves your family, and
- 16:38Speaker 1: so Cody and Christine drive back to see Annie. They
- 16:42Speaker 1: have a conversation and realize, oh, Annie actually left that
- 16:46Speaker 1: organization that turned anti polygamy as soon as they went
- 16:49Speaker 1: that way. Yes, so they didn't even bother to ask.
- 16:52Speaker 1: They didn't have a conversation. And I really put that
- 16:54Speaker 1: mostly on Christine, like, you didn't have a conversation with
- 16:58Speaker 1: this family member that's closed, And she did kind of
- 17:01Speaker 1: the same thing with her aunt. She very much vilified
- 17:05Speaker 1: the aunt who was speaking out against polygamy. And there's
- 17:07Speaker 1: just these parts of Christine that really bother me because
- 17:11Speaker 1: they're callous and they're kind of cruel. But thankfully they
- 17:15Speaker 1: all got over it. Annie explained, I don't support that love.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I have so many polygamists that I love in my family.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I support them and I love you. And then they
- 17:24Speaker 1: re established their relationship.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Yes, but it was a period of really hard times
- 17:30Speaker 3: for Annie and Christine. And then Christine talks about her
- 17:32Speaker 3: wedding to Cody and how Annie was always supportive of
- 17:36Speaker 3: Cody as a person, and you know, Christine marrying him,
- 17:40Speaker 3: but she ultimately didn't go to their wedding ceremony, and
- 17:44Speaker 3: Christine kind of frames this as like Annie made a
- 17:48Speaker 3: statement of like, I'm not going to go to the
- 17:50Speaker 3: wedding ceremony. But from my understanding, those ceremonies are religious
- 17:54Speaker 3: in nature, they're spiritual, and like I feel like.
- 17:57Speaker 1: They're closed off too, they're exclusive.
- 17:59Speaker 3: I feel like if Annie had left that part of
- 18:02Speaker 3: the faith, like she wouldn't really even be allowed to
- 18:04Speaker 3: be in the ceremony. But I don't know. Obviously, it
- 18:07Speaker 3: hurt Christine to not have her mom there. Her mom
- 18:10Speaker 3: made her wedding dress, which was god awful but ic iconic,
- 18:15Speaker 3: and so you know, this is a defining moment in
- 18:18Speaker 3: Christine and Annie's relationship. And at this point, flash flash
- 18:23Speaker 3: forward to moving Annie back in. You know, we know
- 18:27Speaker 3: all of this, this is all happened in the past.
- 18:30Speaker 3: You know, Christine is not, I don't want to say,
- 18:33Speaker 3: like wary of having her mom be moving into her house,
- 18:36Speaker 3: but like she's just a little.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Like concerned Guardianah, she doesn't know what's really going to happen. Yeah,
- 18:41Speaker 1: let me ask you a question. There seemed to be
- 18:44Speaker 1: a very melancholic vibration in the house. And after reading
- 18:50Speaker 1: Christine's most recent book, which by the way, we cover
- 18:52Speaker 1: on Patreon. We have like four installments. Actually reading through
- 18:54Speaker 1: the book, she does talk about Annie leaving her father,
- 18:59Speaker 1: leaving the face, and ultimately taking up with a gentleman,
- 19:02Speaker 1: and I think marrying that man who then passes away.
- 19:06Speaker 1: It kind of felt to me like he had just
- 19:08Speaker 1: passed away in the filming of this episode, like recently,
- 19:12Speaker 1: like this was a house that maybe she shared with him,
- 19:15Speaker 1: and now she had to make new plans for herself,
- 19:17Speaker 1: and that was one of the reasons that she was leaving.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Did you get that vibe?
- 19:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I kind of got that vibe. And I kind
- 19:22Speaker 3: of got the vibe too that maybe Annie and Christine
- 19:25Speaker 3: were talking a little bit about her relationship with Cody,
- 19:29Speaker 3: because we know at this point Christine is not happy
- 19:32Speaker 3: in this marriage whatsoever, no matter what she is portraying
- 19:35Speaker 3: in these earlier seasons, like their marriage is bad right now,
- 19:39Speaker 3: and so I'm kind of wondering if Christine has maybe
- 19:42Speaker 3: talked to Annie just a little bit about some of
- 19:44Speaker 3: the things that she's struggling with. And Annie might be
- 19:47Speaker 3: really sad for her because she went through maybe similar circumstances.
- 19:53Speaker 3: So I don't know if it's maybe it's a combination
- 19:55Speaker 3: of both. If her husband did pass recently at point, like,
- 20:00Speaker 3: I'm curious why they're not even really talking about it
- 20:03Speaker 3: me too. Seems kind of odd to me, but I
- 20:07Speaker 3: don't know. This whole thing made me be my feels
- 20:10Speaker 3: a bit. It made me be my feels for my
- 20:11Speaker 3: own relationship with my mom that has been rocky at best,
- 20:16Speaker 3: and I've been dealing with it and I've been working
- 20:19Speaker 3: on it my entire life, you know. So I just
- 20:22Speaker 3: I think it's really sweet that through all of the
- 20:25Speaker 3: trials that Christine and Annie have been through, like they're
- 20:28Speaker 3: able to come to this point where she can move
- 20:30Speaker 3: in and be involved in her kids's lives and be
- 20:34Speaker 3: a part of the family in this way. I think
- 20:36Speaker 3: it's really lovely and sweet.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I think so as well. And of course it made
- 20:39Speaker 1: me think of like when I moved my mom in.
- 20:41Speaker 1: She was pretty young. I think she was shoot fifty three. Dang, yeah,
- 20:46Speaker 1: she was very young, but she needed a place to
- 20:49Speaker 1: stay and she had had a health issue, and so
- 20:52Speaker 1: we moved her from Hawaii to Chicago, and she was
- 20:55Speaker 1: with me for ten or fifteen years for quite some time,
- 21:00Speaker 1: and it's a huge transition for mother and for daughters.
- 21:03Speaker 1: So I think that's definitely in the air as far
- 21:06Speaker 1: as Christine is concerned and Annie, and it's going to
- 21:09Speaker 1: be strange living in the same house again with your child,
- 21:12Speaker 1: But the power dynamics have switched because now Christine is
- 21:16Speaker 1: making the bigger bucks. Christine has got the established family.
- 21:20Speaker 1: You're going to be living under her roof, and so
- 21:22Speaker 1: you're going to have to figure out how you're going
- 21:24Speaker 1: to do that dance. I really liked hearing from Annie.
- 21:28Speaker 1: I liked seeing how she interacted with Cody meeting though
- 21:32Speaker 1: we don't really like Cody, but she was playful, you know,
- 21:35Speaker 1: and she it was a friendship, is how it felt.
- 21:38Speaker 1: And he played with her too, And I just I
- 21:41Speaker 1: don't know. The whole family coming up to Utah. You've
- 21:44Speaker 1: got Hunter, You've got Gay, You've got the girls and
- 21:48Speaker 1: the littles and the olders, and you've got Mary. It
- 21:50Speaker 1: was just nice to see all of these folks, this
- 21:54Speaker 1: family coming to be around her, be with her, and
- 21:58Speaker 1: to help her make this transition. I was in my
- 22:00Speaker 1: fields too. I had some tearballs. We love Annie. Where
- 22:04Speaker 1: is Annie now? I don't know, because we saw her
- 22:07Speaker 1: during the wedding special. She was there, but I don't
- 22:10Speaker 1: know where she lives it's not with Christine. Yeah, I
- 22:13Speaker 1: was wondering what's going on with Annie.
- 22:15Speaker 3: I wonder if Christine lives near her now, if maybe
- 22:17Speaker 3: they're all back in Utah, because it doesn't, I mean,
- 22:20Speaker 3: nobody stayed in Vegas, so I don't know what really
- 22:24Speaker 3: happened or like when Annie ended up moving out.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I don't know either. Maybe we'll see that, maybe maybe
- 22:29Speaker 1: that happens on the show. I don't know.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Yeah, apologies if we don't know the details, and you
- 22:34Speaker 3: guys do, so let us know on the comments below.
- 22:36Speaker 3: But yeah, I thought it was really cool to see
- 22:38Speaker 3: Annie just interact with everybody. I actually really liked her
- 22:41Speaker 3: interactions with Cody, and I actually didn't mind Cody interacting
- 22:45Speaker 3: with her. I saw a Reddit post just the other
- 22:49Speaker 3: day when I was watching this episode from a while
- 22:52Speaker 3: back of somebody saying, like, I really like this version
- 22:54Speaker 3: of Cody and it was in this episode, and Cody
- 22:57Speaker 3: was very sweet. I thought he was really respectful of
- 23:01Speaker 3: Annie and all of her shit, and like when they
- 23:04Speaker 3: get everything packed up in the U haul, Annie is
- 23:07Speaker 3: a bit solemn and sad, and like the family notices that,
- 23:11Speaker 3: and Cody in particular notices that, and he's like being
- 23:15Speaker 3: kind of supportive of her, and he gives her a
- 23:17Speaker 3: hug and he's like, I know, it's a big transition,
- 23:19Speaker 3: you know, take all the time that you need, like
- 23:21Speaker 3: we're here for you, Like, let's hold this space for
- 23:24Speaker 3: you to mourn this life that you had in this house.
- 23:28Speaker 3: And I thought that was just a really interesting thing
- 23:31Speaker 3: to see from Cody Brown because he's turned into such
- 23:33Speaker 3: a piece of shit, right and I don't know.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Well, he was acting like you would want a father
- 23:39Speaker 1: and a husband and a true patriarch to act. He's
- 23:42Speaker 1: going to protect you. He's extending his protection to you
- 23:45Speaker 1: now and he's taking you into the fold and he's
- 23:47Speaker 1: going to take care of you. Yeah, so I like
- 23:49Speaker 1: that as well.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I liked it too, and like it's just such a
- 23:52Speaker 3: rare sight to see that little bit of stoicism from
- 23:55Speaker 3: Cody because he's always just so like chaotic. And even
- 23:58Speaker 3: Annie comments about that in the episode, like Cody's always
- 24:01Speaker 3: like all over the place. At one point, she had
- 24:04Speaker 3: tried to grab him from the shoulders and was like,
- 24:07Speaker 3: look at me, Cody, Like just chill out for a second.
- 24:09Speaker 3: You don't need to be everywhere all at once. Just
- 24:12Speaker 3: come back to this point right here, And it was
- 24:14Speaker 3: even difficult for Cody to do that because there's so
- 24:16Speaker 3: much on his mind right now. At this point, I
- 24:20Speaker 3: thought it was interesting too, how like Robin was was
- 24:24Speaker 3: she there?
- 24:25Speaker 1: She was there.
- 24:25Speaker 3: I didn't even see her do an.
- 24:27Speaker 1: She helped Christine in the basement. Remember they were carrying
- 24:30Speaker 1: some piece, so she carried up and she was talking
- 24:32Speaker 1: about how she had told her mother, the adulterous Alice,
- 24:37Speaker 1: right Alice, that Annie was going to be moving into
- 24:40Speaker 1: Christine's home and Alice, who is with Robin's stepfather, and
- 24:46Speaker 1: I don't know what that situation is like at this time,
- 24:48Speaker 1: presumably living full time together or at least part time together.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Alice's first thought was of herself, yeah, and said something like, well,
- 24:55Speaker 1: how come you never asked me to move in with you?
- 24:58Speaker 1: And so we have Christine and Rob but in the
- 25:00Speaker 1: basement and kind of a nice little interchange where Robin
- 25:03Speaker 1: is sharing that with Christine and Christine's laughing. That's right.
- 25:07Speaker 3: That was the only part that she was involved in. Really. Well.
- 25:09Speaker 1: She did show up though, and she brought her kids,
- 25:11Speaker 1: and Dayton was there and they were calling stuff and
- 25:14Speaker 1: she was helpful.
- 25:15Speaker 3: So again why do we need the babysitter though, if
- 25:17Speaker 3: your kids are with you. But whatever, it's it's fine.
- 25:20Speaker 3: And we forgot to mention, like when everybody was up there,
- 25:24Speaker 3: Janelle's the only one that stayed back, and she had Savannah,
- 25:27Speaker 3: and then she also had Truly, who's only like four
- 25:31Speaker 3: years old at this period of time. And Janelle had
- 25:33Speaker 3: mentioned in this episode how she was intimidated by having
- 25:37Speaker 3: these two littles with her, and I'm just like, girl, what.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Well, because Christine took care of all of her children,
- 25:43Speaker 1: all of her little children except for Savannah, I'm just like,
- 25:45Speaker 1: chill out, well, and Truly is a handful. Can we
- 25:48Speaker 1: just be real, right?
- 25:49Speaker 3: I guess.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Yeah, she's a little bit of a chaotic and a
- 25:52Speaker 1: ty herself. She's four years old though, I know, but
- 25:56Speaker 1: Janelle's not used to it. No, Janelle's got her rhythms, Renelle.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Janelle's a Taurus. Yeahanelle's got her own situation going. So
- 26:03Speaker 1: inviting Truly, this free radical into her organized life, I'm
- 26:08Speaker 1: sure is a lot for her, but she's also looking
- 26:10Speaker 1: forward to it because Truly brings a lot of joy
- 26:13Speaker 1: with her as well.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Truly's fucking cute. I mean, every time I see her,
- 26:16Speaker 3: I'm just.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Like her and Solomon on the couch and it's just
- 26:20Speaker 1: like a musubie, so adorable.
- 26:23Speaker 3: He's so chubby and sweet.
- 26:25Speaker 2: I'll might leave it there. I'll leave it there. So yeah,
- 26:30Speaker 2: I mean that was the bulk of the episode, was
- 26:32Speaker 2: just a moving Annie out of her house and down
- 26:35Speaker 2: to Vegas, and.
- 26:36Speaker 3: That's about it. It was sweet to see Annie and
- 26:39Speaker 3: Christine like embrace at the end of it when they're
- 26:42Speaker 3: like leaving her house and stuff, and they're both you know,
- 26:45Speaker 3: they both got tearballs in their eyes, and it's kind
- 26:48Speaker 3: of a bittersweet moment because you know, Annie leaves her
- 26:51Speaker 3: home that she's been in for however many years, and
- 26:54Speaker 3: she's going in, like you said, changing the power dynamics
- 26:57Speaker 3: between her and Christine and also in the family. We
- 27:00Speaker 3: had a few conversations in this episode. In last week's
- 27:04Speaker 3: episode of how Christine talked to Annie about staying in
- 27:07Speaker 3: her place. You know, don't get involved in me and
- 27:09Speaker 3: Cody's arguments because we fight all the fucking time, right,
- 27:13Speaker 3: don't take my side all the time, right, Like, just
- 27:16Speaker 3: stay back, And it would be interesting to see if
- 27:19Speaker 3: we get more scenes with them. I don't think we do.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I think Annie is really in the background, yeah, all
- 27:25Speaker 1: the time, taking care of the kids. But when you
- 27:27Speaker 1: read Christine's book, you learn that Annie was actually tactfully
- 27:33Speaker 1: counseling Christine because Christine was about to do exactly what
- 27:38Speaker 1: Annie had to do so many decades and years earlier,
- 27:42Speaker 1: and Christine was going to lose her faith too, and
- 27:44Speaker 1: so Annie was at least present during those movements in
- 27:48Speaker 1: Christine's understanding and awareness and ultimate decision to dump that loser.
- 27:53Speaker 3: And talk about divine timing, you know, and like how
- 27:55Speaker 3: the circle comes, how it all comes full circle, Like Anne,
- 28:00Speaker 3: Annie does this thing that completely shatters Christine's worldview and
- 28:05Speaker 3: her perspective on love and perspective on her faith and everything.
- 28:09Speaker 3: But then she goes balls to the wall back into
- 28:11Speaker 3: the fundamentalist faith, lives the same thing that Annie did,
- 28:16Speaker 3: and then ultimately does the same thing. It's just it's cool.
- 28:18Speaker 1: But I mean, maybe they chose each other as souls
- 28:22Speaker 1: because Annie could model to Christine what was possible to
- 28:27Speaker 1: get herself out of that situation. Without Annie having showed
- 28:30Speaker 1: her that it could be possible, would Christine have done it?
- 28:33Speaker 3: Yeah, great point. Would she have had the courage to
- 28:36Speaker 3: do it. Yes, And so then we get the preview
- 28:38Speaker 3: for next week's episode, and this is where we have
- 28:42Speaker 3: those anthropology students coming to live with the Browns for
- 28:46Speaker 3: a few days and study them, which I do remember
- 28:48Speaker 3: these episodes. These are really fucking good. Really why because
- 28:52Speaker 3: they're just like calling them out on their dynamic. And
- 28:55Speaker 3: you have a preview this week of one of the students,
- 28:58Speaker 3: you know, talking about polygamy and you know, asking the
- 29:02Speaker 3: question of like who's the love wife, who's the sex wife,
- 29:05Speaker 3: who's the money wife? Right, And they do kind of
- 29:08Speaker 3: bring that up a little bit, if I remember correctly,
- 29:11Speaker 3: So I'm looking forward to that.
- 29:13Speaker 1: No wonder, Robin looks angry on the couch when they're
- 29:16Speaker 1: talking about the students being there.
- 29:18Speaker 3: That's why, because she's the love and the sex, she's the.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Wife and the money wife and the money way. Come on,
- 29:23Speaker 1: she's the everything way.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Yes. And then we have Mattie, who has been out
- 29:28Speaker 3: on her own for a while and probably dating and
- 29:32Speaker 3: fucking Caleb at this point in time, I mean in
- 29:36Speaker 3: the timeline. And we have Maddie in the preview talking
- 29:38Speaker 3: about how she wants to join the LDS Mormon Church,
- 29:42Speaker 3: and Janelle surprisingly is not really into it. She's like
- 29:47Speaker 3: hesitant because she's worried that Maddie is going to pull
- 29:50Speaker 3: away from the family, which I can understand from like
- 29:53Speaker 3: this fundamentalist point of view, because you know, the LDS
- 29:56Speaker 3: Mormon Church does not want to be affiliated with any
- 30:00Speaker 3: polygamists whatsoever. Like we had just heard from last week,
- 30:04Speaker 3: the Colliers were ex communicado from the LDS Church because
- 30:08Speaker 3: they were a bunch of degenerates. So Jane's a little worried,
- 30:11Speaker 3: So I guess we'll see how that plays out. Is
- 30:14Speaker 3: obviously going to be.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Fine, well it is, I mean, but their Mormon church
- 30:18Speaker 1: is going to turn Mattie away, if I recall correctly,
- 30:20Speaker 1: they are going to deny her, oh God, to join.
- 30:24Speaker 3: The church because she's a child's degenerates.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Well she's a child of polygynya I guess, or her
- 30:31Speaker 1: family is as pronounced as they are. Yeah, yes, Well
- 30:38Speaker 1: it thus ends this particular episode. Again, we are going
- 30:42Speaker 1: to have a little after show getting into some rumors
- 30:46Speaker 1: and nastiness from Tony and Michelty something they recently put
- 30:51Speaker 1: up on their social media that we're going to watch
- 30:53Speaker 1: together and comment on. And so if you're a patron,
- 30:56Speaker 1: stay for that, and if you're not a patron, become
- 30:58Speaker 1: one so you can watch it. Is there anything else
- 31:00Speaker 1: that we should say to these beautiful raccoons before we
- 31:03Speaker 1: get up on out of here, Beatrice.

- 31:17Speaker 1: We are going to be back in just a couple
