- 0:30Now let's get into the episode. Hello everyone, and welcome back
- 0:35to the Doctor Randy show. I'm your host, Doctor Randy
- 0:38Boyette, and we're talking about aesthetics, beauty, and the
- 0:42questions people are asking right now.
- 0:45She is the force behind a signature approach called laser
- 0:49lift. Her work is defined by taste,
- 0:52precision, and results that hold up in real life.
- 0:55And today she's breaking down what's working and what truly
- 0:59matters in aesthetics right now. Please welcome, Doctor May Kaga.
- 1:05Thank you. Thank you so much.
- 1:07Welcome to the show, Very excited to have you on the show
- 1:10today. I have been doing some research,
- 1:12watching your social media. It's so impressive and you have
- 1:16built a clinic that has grown on results and reputation.
- 1:21And when you look at what you've created, if you don't mind me
- 1:24jumping right in, what feels the most meaningful to you?
- 1:27I think when we get a patient that comes in and holds up the
- 1:31mirror after something we've done and they tell us, wow, I
- 1:35look and feel like myself again. That is, we've met our goal not
- 1:41to make them look like a different version, not to
- 1:43necessarily change, but to rewind and just instill what
- 1:46they recognize in themselves as beautiful.
- 1:49That's probably the most fulfilling outcome that I could
- 1:52ever hope for, and that's what we built our entire brand
- 1:55around. Amazing.
- 1:57I mean, you can tell that your passion comes through when
- 2:00you're talking about your patience.
- 2:02So when people talk about your work, I notice that they often
- 2:07mention how natural and cohesive the results look.
- 2:11What are you paying attention to that you really think helps you
- 2:15get outcomes like that? I think what it really comes
- 2:19down to is instead of that cookie cutter, almost trendy
- 2:22thing that we see where we're measuring what a cheekbone
- 2:25should be or we're measuring the exact profile that's ideal.
- 2:30Instead of that, I really sit my patients down and I first and
- 2:33foremost ask them, what is it that you'd like to see?
- 2:37And a lot of times it's something as simple as I just
- 2:39feel like I'm getting old. Oftentimes it's not that they
- 2:43want to change, but it's more that they just want to feel more
- 2:46like themselves. Whether it's a mom who just had
- 2:48a couple of kids or, you know, a guy who's freshly divorced and
- 2:52wants to get back out there. There's lots of different
- 2:55reasons that people sit down and say this is the time I'm going
- 2:57to come and spend some money on myself.
- 3:00I think what we really look for is keeping people in tune with
- 3:04looking like themselves. So we don't have patients really
- 3:07bring us inspo photos, but we do have patients show us their
- 3:10wedding photos and they show us their high school photos.
- 3:13And retaining that value of their own inner beauty and then
- 3:17enhancing it and putting the icing on the cake is really what
- 3:20I look for with every patient. I think that's groundbreaking.
- 3:24It's funny that you say that because when I look at my
- 3:26pictures from college or they flash up on our social media,
- 3:30you know, you're like, oh, remember when my chin used to
- 3:33look like that or whatnot? And that's really what we want
- 3:35to restore. You're not looking for a new
- 3:37chin. We're looking for that old chin
- 3:39that we used to have, right? I think that's a great point.
- 3:42And oftentimes, we really don't draw a line for our patients
- 3:45when it comes to restoration versus augmentation, meaning,
- 3:49let's say you do want to change that chin.
- 3:51There's no judgement. But oftentimes when we start at
- 3:54the point of restoration, it instills that confidence in the
- 3:57patient that, yeah, my features are beautiful.
- 3:59I don't need to necessarily change everything.
- 4:02Maybe I just start by feeling more like myself.
- 4:04And that confidence, it trickles down.
- 4:06It trickles into word of mouth. It trickles into our branding
- 4:09and our social media. And it's just one more positive
- 4:12out there in the field of aesthetics at the end of the
- 4:14day. So it's something I'm very proud
- 4:15of. Well, something that I know that
- 4:18you're involved in, that you have really spearheaded is laser
- 4:22lift. And this is your technique.
- 4:26Your clinic is known for the laser lift approach and I think
- 4:31that our audience would love to hear about it.
- 4:33I was really fascinated talking to you about it last week at a
- 4:37high level. Tell us what is laser lift and
- 4:42why did you feel that it was important to kind of create this
- 4:45new technique? I often counsel my patients that
- 4:48even if you get the best facelift or you have an
- 4:51unlimited filler and Botox budget, if you are not making
- 4:55your skin look youthful, you are not going to look youthful.
- 4:58So implementing lasers into a very popular regimen of Botox
- 5:02and fillers has given us that cherry on the top outcome that
- 5:06we just couldn't achieve before this kind of partnership.
- 5:10So we often will recommend a once a year heavy duty
- 5:13resurfacing laser just to give your skin that youthful quality
- 5:17back, makes everything look bouncy and young again.
- 5:20And then we use filler to supplement to kind of recontour
- 5:23and shape the face. And with those two kind of marry
- 5:26together, we've reached some really gorgeous outcomes.
- 5:30Exceptional and I've seen the before and afters, so it
- 5:33definitely works. And when you are planning a
- 5:38laser lift, how do you decide what to address first?
- 5:43Skin quality, contour, overall balance?
- 5:46How do you make that decision? We often times will just leave
- 5:48it up to the patient's social schedule.
- 5:50Anytime we're going to do any resurfacing, there's going to be
- 5:53a little bit of downtime. It's typically about five to
- 5:55seven days. So we usually tell our patients
- 5:58if we can let that laser do the heavy lifting, do that laser
- 6:02first. Sometimes you can't necessarily
- 6:04find 5 to 7 days so fast. So then we'll do the filler
- 6:08first. So we oftentimes will just leave
- 6:09it up to the flexibility of a patient's social schedule.
- 6:13And I have an important question, and I get asked this
- 6:15question a lot. And sometimes, you know, I feel
- 6:17like the answer changes sometimes.
- 6:19How important is the sequencing when you're combining lasers and
- 6:24injectables? And I've heard kind of the gamut
- 6:27of answers on this, right? How does that affect the final
- 6:29results? Some people say you have to wait
- 6:32in between that kind of thing. So I'm curious your take on
- 6:35this. I will always say your
- 6:38youthfulness of your skin is the foundation of how young you
- 6:41look. So when we can do lasers first,
- 6:44I will always promote that as the slightly better path.
- 6:48But as long as you have a provider, a doctor, an injector,
- 6:51whoever it is that is working on you that is retaining in their
- 6:54mind that the laser is going to do some of this work, we can do
- 6:57filler first, right? But we have to be more
- 6:59conservative in our approach. We're not trying to fix
- 7:01everything with filler because we know that laser is going to
- 7:04come in and address some skin laxity.
- 7:06We know that laser is going to come in and address some global
- 7:08wrinkles. So as long as we know we're
- 7:10going to be more conservative because the laser is going to
- 7:13help us, we have great outcomes in either direction.
- 7:16But we do need to keep that at the forefront of the plan if we
- 7:19reverse the direction. So if you have some filler in
- 7:22there and then you use a laser, it's not going to disintegrate
- 7:25the filler. Absolutely not.
- 7:26So a lot of this has to do with the laser physics of your
- 7:29settings. It has to do with the device
- 7:30you're choosing. So most of it, it's going to be
- 7:33iatrogenic, right? It's up to us to make sure that
- 7:36we're doing a safe and good treatment.
- 7:38So when we have a patient come in and they have filler already,
- 7:41that filler should be safe, but that's in the hands of your
- 7:43provider. Got it.
- 7:45They have to understand where the filler is and then where to
- 7:48go from there. That's perfect advice for our
- 7:50audience. And that's a question that a lot
- 7:52of people talk about, right? Like I just had filler.
- 7:54Is it OK to get laser? You said that this approach
- 7:59works across a wide range of ages.
- 8:02What allows laser lift to be customized so effectively from
- 8:07patient to patient? So sometimes we get 18 year
- 8:10olds, 20 year olds that come in and they have acne scarring.
- 8:14And if anyone has dealt with acne in the past, it's one of
- 8:17the most traumatizing skin conditions or journeys you can
- 8:20go on. Because even after your acne has
- 8:23hopefully cleared, you're left with a lot of marks.
- 8:26And it is not so easy to cover up with makeup.
- 8:28And a lot of people, they want to go makeup for you.
- 8:30We're in an era of clean girl makeup.
- 8:32So when we can resurface that skin in a 20 year old, we're
- 8:36really doing a huge, huge boost to that patient's comp evidence.
- 8:40And when it comes to our younger patients, we're not necessarily
- 8:42restoring volume, but that's really where balancing our
- 8:46features is much more popular, such as building a jawline or
- 8:49giving a chin or recontouring the lift of a cheek.
- 8:52And then in our older patients, our oldest patient for our laser
- 8:55lift just turned 80 and her results were phenomenal.
- 8:58We resurfaced her skin more for wrinkling and sun damage and
- 9:02aging reasons. And then her filler was used for
- 9:04volume restoration. So really, across all of those
- 9:07decades, there's a good, good reason to be doing these
- 9:10treatments for most patients. Well, I think telling us about
- 9:14laser lift is phenomenal. I think that our listeners will
- 9:18want to know more. So thank you for sharing that
- 9:20with us. I'd love to dive in a little bit
- 9:23more about what your patients are asking for.
- 9:26What are the most requested treatments right now?
- 9:28What are patients seeking the most?
- 9:31I would say a lot of it has to do now with this makeup free
- 9:33revolution. So by far our most common
- 9:36request is how to how to treat past sun damage.
- 9:39So we have a BBL laser, which stands for broadband light.
- 9:43It's very popular. It's a, it's a version of IPL,
- 9:46which is a broader umbrella, but it will essentially treat all of
- 9:49that pigmentation and sun damage that a lot of us built up from
- 9:52tanning beds or just going on vacation or soccer games with
- 9:55our kids. But I would say sun damage is
- 9:57probably a very far reaching issue.
- 10:00You're right, everybody wants that perfect skin without having
- 10:03to wear a lot of makeup. And which treatments are
- 10:05delivering, would you say, the quickest, most noticeable
- 10:09results for patients right now? And why do you think those are
- 10:12resonating so strongly? You know, I would say
- 10:15injectables will always be that very quick satisfaction.
- 10:19You get your Botox done. And Botox itself has come such a
- 10:22long way now. We see it kick in the very next
- 10:25day with a lot of new toxins that are out now, filler itself.
- 10:29As far as dermal fillers, our patients hold the mirror that
- 10:31day. The changes there, it's instant
- 10:33gratification. So I would say injectables are
- 10:36really that tried and true bread and butter of most practices.
- 10:39That's the best feeling. There's nothing better when
- 10:42after I get mine done and I'm in the car on the way home, I'm
- 10:46staring at myself in the mirror and you're just like, wow, look
- 10:49at that. That wrinkle is gone and
- 10:51everything is all nice and plump and firm.
- 10:53It's the best feeling. You're right.
- 10:55It's instant gratification. Are there any treatments that
- 10:59patients don't really ask for by name, but once they experience
- 11:03them, you know treatments outside of injectables, right,
- 11:07that become repeat favorites for them?
- 11:10I would say resurfacing lasers are something that people don't
- 11:13necessarily know that they need to ask for.
- 11:16And that's probably one of the most fulfilling as far as
- 11:19patient outcomes and their kind of gratitude and thankfulness
- 11:23when they see the results. Because resurfacing is kind of a
- 11:25scary topic. If you think about those classic
- 11:28CO2 lasers and on our favorite shows, people are really wrecked
- 11:32for like weeks at a time. That's kind of the old
- 11:35resurfacing laser. But technology has come such a
- 11:37long way. We can tell you 5 days of
- 11:39downtime and we're giving you fresh new skin for a year.
- 11:42So I would say resurfacing is one of the most highly
- 11:45recommended things by me that patients don't ask.
- 11:47For that's funny because the first time I had ACO 2, I didn't
- 11:51even ask for it. And I think that people are
- 11:53often confused about CO2 and what it does and who it's for.
- 11:56So I think when it comes from the clinician that it really
- 12:01makes the difference and we're like, oh, you can make me look
- 12:03younger with that. It's not just going to take out
- 12:05acne scarring and whatnot. I think it's a huge
- 12:08differentiator when you're recommending it.
- 12:10Also, what treatments are patients choosing specifically
- 12:15because they fit into real life? What's minimal downtime, quick
- 12:20recovery, but still having a meaningful result?
- 12:23I think Botox really fits that category probably most
- 12:26immensely. Botox is one of those things
- 12:28that even our celebrities that deny doing everything, we'll
- 12:31admit they've done Botox. It's very socially acceptable.
- 12:34Now patients get younger and younger when they're using Botox
- 12:37for that preventative baby Botox look, masseter Botox is very
- 12:41popular for just TMJ issues. So I think Botox is something
- 12:45that has a lot of far reach. When we have our new brides,
- 12:49even in their 20s, they'll do underarm Botox just to stop
- 12:52sweating. We have our soft ball players,
- 12:54they do hand Botox, so it has so much utility behind that.
- 12:58Classic old wrinkles for the forehead.
- 13:00Botox for everything. Let's talk about filler for a
- 13:05minute and the dissolving of filler.
- 13:08That's been a hot conversation that I'm seeing.
- 13:11People are talking about. They're talking about it on
- 13:13social media. Dissolving filler used to feel
- 13:16kind of like a last resort. But lately I'm seeing, you know,
- 13:22more clinicians talk about this also that it's become kind of a
- 13:25smart first step in certain cases instead of adding more.
- 13:29And what are your thoughts on that?
- 13:31I would say for. My new patients, I dissolve
- 13:34probably once a day, if not more.
- 13:38So I think dissolving has become something that's less scary.
- 13:41I think when somebody comes in and I say, hey, that's not quite
- 13:44the right density for that feature or very oftentimes we'll
- 13:47get new patients and they'll say, well, I got filler, but I
- 13:49feel more swollen. I didn't get the contour I was
- 13:52looking for. And I'll kind of explain why
- 13:54that happened. There's several factors that go
- 13:56into making filler look impeccable, making it look
- 13:59natural, giving you a lift or a contour or sculpt, and it's not
- 14:03just the right provider. I would say that's probably the
- 14:06biggest factor, just anatomically placing that
- 14:09filler. But there's also good filler and
- 14:11bad filler out there. So I would say my patients that
- 14:14embrace dissolving, I sometimes have to do a hard line and say I
- 14:17will not be doing a treatment unless we dissolve.
- 14:20Thankfully, my reputation is at the point where people come to
- 14:22me for that natural outcome, so they kind of know they're going
- 14:25to dissolve going in, but it's not scary.
- 14:27It takes 20 seconds. You get to do your filler a week
- 14:30later that's really just a part of the plan instead of something
- 14:34scary that's an obstacle. And then?
- 14:36In your clinic, at what point do the non surgical options
- 14:43stopping the right answer and how do you know it's time to say
- 14:47you might want to consider surgery.
- 14:50I think it's. Really part of our
- 14:51responsibility as the provider to be very upfront if we see
- 14:55something that is out of the realm of us giving you a happy
- 14:58experience. So if I see somebody come in and
- 15:00I say, hey, I really think your best option is surgery.
- 15:03And here's some great referrals of surgeons I love in the area.
- 15:06It then becomes meeting the patient where they're at.
- 15:09So often times if a patient is coming to me, somebody who's
- 15:12known for non surgical intervention, they've thought
- 15:14about that surgery and it's not for them.
- 15:17And oftentimes that's not a financial decision, that's a
- 15:20social decision. They don't want the surgery,
- 15:22they don't want unnecessary anesthesia or just really a
- 15:25surgery that they could do without as far as risks versus
- 15:28benefits. So oftentimes when a patient is
- 15:31coming to me, they've already made that decision, but I would
- 15:33really put that under my responsibility to have that
- 15:36discussion to point out the things that surgery might be the
- 15:39better option. Oftentimes that's the eye area
- 15:41of concern. And I say, listen, a blef is
- 15:43really the gold standard here, but you tell me where you're at
- 15:46and I'll give you the best advice based on what you'd like
- 15:49to do. That's also the most impactful,
- 15:51I think, surgery of all on the face.
- 15:54When people have their eyes done, it's almost unbelievable
- 15:57to see like how, you know, they're different, the way they
- 15:59look immediately. It's such an impact.
- 16:02And I think a lot of people try to do all kinds of things to
- 16:05circumvent that, but there's nothing that can replace that
- 16:08surgery. One other question, as patients
- 16:11become more mindful of spending and their budgets, what
- 16:16treatment do you find have the best return on investment with
- 16:21visible results? This has become a hot topic,
- 16:24right? Because everybody wants to know
- 16:26that they can have an aesthetic treatment within their reach,
- 16:30but when they don't have unlimited resources, what do you
- 16:32recommend I would say. If you're looking at the payoff,
- 16:361 syringe of fillers the size of a blueberry, 5 syringes of
- 16:39filler is a packet of ketchup. So if you're looking for a full
- 16:42face rejuvenation, you're in the thousands of dollars, we can
- 16:46resurface your face for about 1/4 of that price.
- 16:49So I will always tell my patients, lasers is such an
- 16:52investment. It's going to treat past damage.
- 16:55It's going to prevent future damage.
- 16:57So I'm a big, big proponent of laser for skin health.
- 17:00You're right. Filler is an investment.
- 17:02It's a lot and it's a lot of upkeep.
- 17:04It doesn't make a difference for someone who wants to maintain
- 17:08results without overdoing it, and you have that niche of
- 17:13getting that natural result and you've done great with it.
- 17:17How often do you typically recommend that patients come in
- 17:22over the course of a year to maintain the natural look?
- 17:25I would say our. Minimum and a lot of patients
- 17:27they fly to us for just this once a year visit is once a
- 17:30year. Your laser, your heavy duty
- 17:32lifting laser, that's a once a year treatment.
- 17:35Your filler should definitely be lasting you a year.
- 17:38So once a year is really that spot that we don't want you to
- 17:41miss that appointment, but we have some great maintenance
- 17:43things that we can do in between a little bit of Botox.
- 17:46Unfortunately, that only lasts about three to four months.
- 17:49Things like little resurfacing lasers or little touch ups with
- 17:52the BBL after an Aruba vacation or a couple of soccer games with
- 17:55your kids. So the maintenance should always
- 17:58be extra, but that foundation is usually about once a year.
- 18:02What? Role do you think skin
- 18:04rejuvenation treatments like peels and facials, how does that
- 18:09play into your clinic today and who are they best for?
- 18:13I think when it. Comes to predictability,
- 18:15reliability, laser physics will always hold a higher standard
- 18:19for me than chemical peels. We'll never be able to predict
- 18:23exactly where that peel is going, the depth of the dermis.
- 18:26But when it comes to the lasers, the physics is phenomenal.
- 18:29The technology and how far we've come is just irrefutable.
- 18:32So we have a closet full of peels, but if you've looked at
- 18:35my social media, we never recommend them.
- 18:37So I will always pick rejuvenating with a laser over
- 18:40appeal for most of my patients. And I do, I have seen that trend
- 18:44that the peels are kind of going the wayside right now.
- 18:47It was very hot a few years back, yeah.
- 18:50And a lot of times for that significant downtime of a good
- 18:52peel, we can resurface your whole face with less downtime.
- 18:56So I think you just can't combat where technology is going when
- 18:59it comes to lasers. Absolutely.
- 19:02You also offer, just to switch gears for a minute, concierge
- 19:06Wellness services like IV therapy NAD how do these
- 19:12treatments support your aesthetic practice and aesthetic
- 19:17results in which patients tend to benefit the most from them
- 19:21sometimes? It's just a matter of making
- 19:24sure our patients feel very happy with when they come in.
- 19:27So we love to have an atmosphere where patients leave and they're
- 19:29like, wow, I feel like I just got a break from life.
- 19:32And sometimes an IV helps with that, or AB12 vitamin shot or a
- 19:36little bit of NAD. So adding supplements that give
- 19:39you that instant feel good factor, whether it be hydration
- 19:43or a little energy boost, I think it goes very well hand in
- 19:45hand with any aesthetic practice with the.
- 19:48Rise of weight loss medications because that really has impacted
- 19:52our entire industry, right? What body contouring treatments
- 19:56are you finding most effective for addressing the changes that
- 20:00patients are seeing and what do you think with those treatments?
- 20:04What makes the biggest difference?
- 20:06I think it. Lends to maybe a larger issue or
- 20:09question as far as rapid weight loss and whether we allow it to
- 20:12happen because a lot of these issues are not necessarily tied
- 20:16to a GLP one. They're tying to a broader issue
- 20:20of rapid weight loss. If we cut calories doing, you
- 20:24know, going keto or vegan or Mediterranean diet, anytime we
- 20:27have rapid weight loss, we are going to come towards all these
- 20:31things that we now call Ozempic face or very specific issues
- 20:34tied to GLP ones. If we focus on the broader issue
- 20:37of slowing everything down and doing it in a healthy way, we
- 20:41really don't run into those issues at our practice.
- 20:43And we offer lots of compounded versions of GLP ones to help our
- 20:46patients reach their goal weights.
- 20:48But we don't have Ozempic base in our office.
- 20:50We don't really have any of these rampant issues and it's
- 20:53because we really choose to do things in a very healthy,
- 20:56correct way. So we don't do, you know, rapid
- 20:59weight loss here. And if you eliminate rapid
- 21:02weight loss, you really eliminate a lot of the issues
- 21:04that are tied to what we call Ozempic face and things like
- 21:07that. So you're.
- 21:08Not seeing like the skin laxity or in people needing skin
- 21:12tightening on their body as much we don't.
- 21:14Because that really is with any rapid weight loss.
- 21:16For example, you know, we saw people doing gastric bypass and
- 21:20sleeves and we have the same issues we're encountering now
- 21:23from these GLP one shots. But these issues are not new.
- 21:26They've always been around with rapid weight loss.
- 21:28We've just kind of made them more prevalent because GLP ones
- 21:31are so much more accessible than a gastric sleeve stage.
- 21:35I think you're right that the slow and steady pace of the
- 21:38weight loss really impacts the aesthetic component of what's
- 21:43going on with the GLP ones, right?
- 21:46Sure. I think that's great advice for
- 21:48our audience on a couple of last hot topics.
- 21:52Celebrity faces shape a lot of expectations right now, right?
- 21:57How do you think those images help or hurt the way the
- 22:01patients understand what's realistic in aesthetics?
- 22:05I think that there's always going to be a responsibility to
- 22:08anybody that's in the public eye, including us just on social
- 22:11media. But it's we make a point once a
- 22:14week to comment on something having to do with pop culture
- 22:17and celebrities because I think it really furthers your stance
- 22:22on what you stand for. So when we comment on a patient
- 22:25that's gone the wrong direction and has end up looking nothing
- 22:28like themselves, is that the responsibility of the patient or
- 22:31does that fall on us as the provider for letting it happen?
- 22:35So we love to educate our patients and kind of take a very
- 22:38strong stand that this is our fault.
- 22:40This is the community of aesthetics that has allowed this
- 22:43to happen. But it's never too late to turn
- 22:45that back. And we've actually gotten a huge
- 22:47following just from that stance alone of patients that are like,
- 22:50wow, I love that somebody out there that recognizes that this
- 22:54went in the wrong way and you're helping everything go back in
- 22:56the right way. So that's one of our favorite
- 22:58topics to talk about. I think that's a wonderful
- 23:02answer for people to hear and a great topic to talk about.
- 23:06And I think another hot topic that I wanted to ask you about
- 23:10because you are into the natural results and you also have so
- 23:14many different modalities at your clinic.
- 23:16If someone is looking for an instant glow up, right, they
- 23:20have an event coming up, whether it's a wedding reunion and
- 23:24they're only a couple weeks out. What treatments do you recommend
- 23:28in this case? Because this is very hot right
- 23:30now on social media for people to talk about that.
- 23:32I will. Always go with the BBL clear
- 23:34silk. It gives you this instant
- 23:36healthy glow. No downtime.
- 23:39Our brides always do this the week of their wedding.
- 23:41We have something called our red carpet laser facial which
- 23:44includes those things. It just kind of tempers down.
- 23:47Redness, inflammation, makes that skin feel vibrant again
- 23:50same day. It's just a great treatment.
- 23:53I'll do it almost every month, but especially if I have an
- 23:55event coming up. Oh wow.
- 23:57And is that something that lasts or it has to be, you know, you
- 24:01have to come and has. Cumulative events.
- 24:03So I would say once you're happy with your skin, you could easily
- 24:06maintain it by doing it three times a year, for example.
- 24:09But it also has this great impulse where you do it and the
- 24:12next day you're like, oh, I'm glowing.
- 24:14It's just that glass skin that everybody strives for.
- 24:16I want to try. That now.
- 24:19So Doctor, I would like to just ask you as you look ahead at
- 24:24where aesthetics is headed as we start to wrap things up, what is
- 24:28one thing that you think is on the horizon or maybe even two
- 24:32things for aesthetics that generally excites you?
- 24:34Where do you see the future of aesthetics going?
- 24:37I would say. The more and more that we see
- 24:39celebrities maintaining their own beauty and their own unique
- 24:42features, the rest of the population tends to follow.
- 24:45So I love this changing trend that more is not more,
- 24:49maintaining your own features. Not everybody looking the same.
- 24:52So I love that change. I love having contributed to
- 24:55that change, and I plan to keep propelling it.
- 24:58Love that, love it. Thank you for joining us today
- 25:02and if you don't mind, we'd love to take you into our speed round
- 25:05if you have a few more minutes. Absolutely.
- 25:07OK as. An expert in our industry, we'd
- 25:10love to ask your opinion on several different topics and
- 25:14kind of in a rapid fire way. Is that OK with you?
- 25:16Sure. All right, let's kick it off.
- 25:19Preventative Botox. Yes or no?
- 25:21Yes. Very full.
- 25:23Lips still in or fading out very much.
- 25:27So out bio. Stimulators over traditional HA
- 25:31fillers? Yes or no?
- 25:33That's like a hard It depends on the patient.
- 25:36I can't give a. Yes or no for?
- 25:37That that's a great area for me. Exosomes ready for prime time or
- 25:42still too early I would say. Exosomes have some good results
- 25:46that I've seen. PRP still worth offering or past
- 25:50its peak? Always worth offering RF.
- 25:53Micro needling still a must have or starting to feel dated it's.
- 25:58Falling to #5 on my list of must haves.
- 26:01Ultrasound skin tightening, real results or inconsistent
- 26:05outcomes? Definitely inconsistent for the
- 26:08moment body. Contouring devices still
- 26:12effective or clearly declining? Definitely.
- 26:15Declining muscle. Building body devices.
- 26:18Real results are mostly marketing I think we see.
- 26:21Great results. Anytime you're going to tone a
- 26:23muscle, that muscle's going to tone.
- 26:24So if it works, it works. But we do often counsel
- 26:27patients. You got to get rid of the fat
- 26:29first if you want to see the muscle come out.
- 26:31What do they? Say A6 pack is made in the
- 26:33kitchen right not in the gym yeah you got to you got to
- 26:36uncover it retinol non negotiable or overrated non
- 26:40negotiable vitamin C in skin care daily essential or
- 26:45overhyped I like. Antioxidants, but vitamin C is
- 26:48not my favorite one. Do you think it's too much of an
- 26:51active? I think that it.
- 26:52Often irritates a lot of people, especially my young clientele
- 26:56will break out very easily with vitamin CS, but the good news is
- 26:59we have a whole range of great antioxidants that do the same
- 27:01job without that downside growth.
- 27:04Factors in skin care real impact or mostly buzz I've seen?
- 27:08Some great impact with hair serums to be specific.
- 27:11Medical. Grade skin care truly different
- 27:13or just better marketing? Truly different.
- 27:17Skin. Tightening without surgery,
- 27:19realistic expectations or oversold a bit.
- 27:23I think it's a. Conversation to be had with
- 27:24every patient individually. We see some great results with
- 27:27our lasers, but at some point you have to know when to refer
- 27:30that patient out. Is there an age range that you
- 27:33see where it becomes more common to have that surgery
- 27:37conversation like the facelift conversation I think at?
- 27:40This point, it really is such a personal thing whether people
- 27:43are open to surgery or not. I have not seen it related to
- 27:47age to be honest. It's more just based on the
- 27:49person's lifestyle and what they're open to mentally micro.
- 27:53Dosing GLP ones, do you think it's for almost everyone?
- 27:57Good trend, bad trend? What do you think?
- 27:59I think it's a. Good trend.
- 28:00I think anytime we can lend some health and value, whether it be
- 28:04lowering someone's cholesterol, increasing their value of life,
- 28:07giving them more activity, as long as things are done
- 28:10correctly and we pay attention to what we're doing and we keep
- 28:13that oath of do no harm, we have some great tools in our arsenal.
- 28:17Peptides. In skin care, in or out right
- 28:20now? In injecting trends driven by
- 28:23social media. Helpful or harmful?
- 28:26Always harmful. Almost always harmful.
- 28:29Yes, here through filler. Still part of your toolkit, or
- 28:34rarely recommended right now a big.
- 28:37Decline. I would say a non.
- 28:39Surgical jawline contouring effective or overrated?
- 28:43Absolutely. Effective filler for.
- 28:46Hollowing in the temples. Smart correction or unnecessary
- 28:50risk? Super.
- 28:51Smart correction does wonders for people that need it,
- 28:54definitely. Something that people don't
- 28:56notice until they have it filled in falls under.
- 28:59The category of not knowing to ask for a neck.
- 29:01Tightening without surgery. Effective or overrated?
- 29:05Yeah, we see. Great results with Halo.
- 29:06Works very nicely Chin. Dimpling treated with
- 29:09neurotoxin. Effective or unnecessary?
- 29:12Love it. Masks that.
- 29:14Are slimming, you mentioned that before and that's kind of a hot
- 29:17topic that people are talking about.
- 29:19Do you find it effective or overdone?
- 29:21I. Think it's most important to
- 29:23counsel that if we take away bulk here, we might add some
- 29:26contour here. So again, everything is that
- 29:28forefront of consultation to make sure that it's fitting what
- 29:32your patient is looking for. Neurotoxin for visible neck
- 29:37bands. Effective or not, I would say
- 29:40it. Depends what your outcome is.
- 29:41If you really just want to get to that neck band on zoom you
- 29:44don't like the way it looks, yes we can get rid of it.
- 29:46But does it give you that trendy Nefertiti lift?
- 29:48Not really lower. Face lifting with devices
- 29:52instead of surgery. Can you see meaningful
- 29:55improvement or limited results? We see.
- 29:58Great. Improvements in jowls when it
- 30:00comes to doing resurfacing laser.
- 30:01So I think there's definitely space for that.
- 30:04Well, that. Is our speed round and thank you
- 30:06for being such an amazing guest and thank you for spending time
- 30:10with us today. Are there any topics or anything
- 30:12else that you'd like to talk to the audience about?
- 30:14No, you've done. Such a wonderful job.
- 30:16Thank you for having me. Thank you for.
- 30:18Joining us, we'd love to hear how you're doing and anything
