Mega Edition: Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell And The Rotating Origin Story (10/27/26) · The Epstein Chronicles

Speaker 1: I've always wondered how Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell came
• 0:05
Speaker 1: to be. How was their relationship fostered? Who introduced them?
• 0:11
Speaker 1: Was it on purpose? One thing I can tell you,
• 0:14
Speaker 1: in my opinion, is that there was never any love
• 0:18
Speaker 1: in this quote unquote relationship. I've always thought that it
• 0:22
Speaker 1: was a business arrangement. from the sources that I've spoke with,
• 0:27
Speaker 1: from the information that I've seen, I have never seen
• 0:30
Speaker 1: anything that would point me to them being in love
• 0:34
Speaker 1: with each other. In fact, all signs point to this
• 0:40
Speaker 1: being a business relationship. Today, Forbes has an article out
• 0:47
Speaker 1: talking about how Ghislaine Maxwell reportedly met Jeffrey Epstein through
• 0:52
Speaker 1: her pops. And now we've talked about this previously. The
• 0:56
Speaker 1: Sun had an article out talking about how Robert Maxwell
• 0:59
Speaker 1: supposedly bankrolled Jeffrey Epstein. And I've thought that for a
• 1:05
Speaker 1: very long time, right? I've said that for quite some
• 1:07
Speaker 1: time here, that it wasn't only Les Wexner giving Jeffrey
• 1:11
Speaker 1: Epstein money. That's absurd to think that that would be
• 1:15
Speaker 1: the only person that was bankrolling this. This was a vast,
• 1:21
Speaker 1: vast sale. of people who had one goal in mind,
• 1:26
Speaker 1: setting up this blackmail operation. And in my opinion, Robert
• 1:32
Speaker 1: Maxwell laid the groundwork for it all to start before
• 1:37
Speaker 1: he died. I think that Robert Maxwell played a huge
• 1:40
Speaker 1: role in getting this off the ground. And I think
• 1:42
Speaker 1: he was a key component in bringing Jeffrey Epstein and
• 1:46
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell together. I've said that for quite some time,
• 1:50
Speaker 1: and I still believe that. I have seen nothing that
• 1:53
Speaker 1: would change my mind and point me in the direction
• 1:57
Speaker 1: that Jeffrey Epstein was in love with Ghislaine Maxwell. I'm sorry,
• 2:01
Speaker 1: but that just does not smell like a good meal
• 2:06
Speaker 1: for me. All right, so let's jump in here and
• 2:10
Speaker 1: see what Forbes has to say about it all. Headline,
• 2:14
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell reportedly met Jeffrey Epstein through her disgraced father. Author,
• 2:20
Speaker 1: Lisette Voitko. Top line. Ghislaine Maxwell, alleged recruiter of Jeffrey
• 2:26
Speaker 1: Epstein's sex ring of underage girls, co-conspirator, fellow child abuser,
• 2:32
Speaker 1: general all-around scumbag, is awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges
• 2:36
Speaker 1: and reportedly met the now-dead financier, pedophile, through her father,
• 2:41
Speaker 1: the tabloid colossus Robert Maxwell, according to a new podcast
• 2:46
Speaker 1: on Epstein's dark web of abuse. And he might have
• 2:50
Speaker 1: been one early source of Epstein's wealth, catapulted him into
• 2:54
Speaker 1: the upper echelon of society. Yeah, it's rather obvious that
• 2:59
Speaker 1: Robert Maxwell had his pocketbook open for Jeffrey Epstein. If
• 3:03
Speaker 1: they were thinking about this blackmail ring, if they had
• 3:06
Speaker 1: this plan in place, the blueprint of it, well, all
• 3:10
Speaker 1: they needed were the players on the stage. And Jeffrey
• 3:15
Speaker 1: Epstein was the perfect candidate. He already had disgusting proclivities
• 3:20
Speaker 1: that were well-known. and they knew that he was malleable
• 3:26
Speaker 1: enough money here enough money there he can be steered
• 3:29
Speaker 1: in the right direction and then for the kicker you
• 3:34
Speaker 1: bring in Ghislaine Maxwell to make sure that everything runs
• 3:38
Speaker 1: smoothly see how it all comes together here folks Key facts.
• 3:48
Speaker 1: According to the latest episode of Broken Seeking Justice podcast,
• 3:52
Speaker 1: Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell met as early as 1988 through
• 3:56
Speaker 1: her father, said convicted Ponzi schemer Steve Hoffenberg, who once
• 4:01
Speaker 1: worked with Epstein, who also claims for the first time
• 4:04
Speaker 1: that Epstein and Robert Maxwell had business dealings together, although
• 4:09
Speaker 1: the podcast could not corroborate this. Well, there's a lot
• 4:14
Speaker 1: of talk about it, right? There's a lot of whispering
• 4:18
Speaker 1: a lot of things being said about Robert Maxwell and
• 4:22
Speaker 1: his role in getting all of this off the ground.
• 4:25
Speaker 1: And I think we'll hear more of that as the
• 4:28
Speaker 1: trial gets closer. And if more people obviously are indicted,
• 4:33
Speaker 1: they will have a song to sing. Now, I'm not
• 4:37
Speaker 1: too sure if we're ever going to really be able
• 4:41
Speaker 1: to pinpoint the origins of this or if we'll just
• 4:44
Speaker 1: be left to speculate. As of now, though, In my opinion,
• 4:49
Speaker 1: Robert Maxwell played a huge role at the beginning, folks,
• 4:53
Speaker 1: at the beginning of setting this all in motion and
• 4:56
Speaker 1: making sure that somebody that he could trust, a confidant,
• 5:00
Speaker 1: somebody that he knew understood what the goal was, was involved.
• 5:06
Speaker 1: And that somebody was his daughter, Ghislaine Maxwell. Two additional
• 5:12
Speaker 1: sources backed up the claim that Robert Maxwell was the
• 5:15
Speaker 1: person who brought his prized daughter together with Epstein, including
• 5:19
Speaker 1: a former Epstein staffer who was told by Ghislaine Maxwell
• 5:23
Speaker 1: while she forced them to look at eight albums worth
• 5:25
Speaker 1: of photos from her father's funeral. Look, it's very obvious
• 5:31
Speaker 1: to me anyway, that Ghislaine Maxwell learned her craft at
• 5:36
Speaker 1: her father's side on the knee of her father. While
• 5:40
Speaker 1: you and I were growing up and our fathers were
• 5:42
Speaker 1: teaching us life lessons about, you know, whatever it may be,
• 5:46
Speaker 1: Ghislaine's father was teaching her how to manipulate, how to scam,
• 5:50
Speaker 1: how to cheat, and how to plot. And those are
• 5:53
Speaker 1: lessons that daddy's little girl obviously took to her black heart.
• 6:02
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell told the staffer that Epstein was someone who
• 6:05
Speaker 1: could take care of her emotionally. and was firm that
• 6:08
Speaker 1: his finances weren't the source of her interest, according to
• 6:11
Speaker 1: the podcast, which aligns with reports that the pair dated
• 6:15
Speaker 1: at one point and remained friends. See, there's my contention there.
• 6:19
Speaker 1: They might have dated as a cover, but there was
• 6:21
Speaker 1: no love there, in my opinion. And again, it wasn't
• 6:24
Speaker 1: about the money, like some people have stated, because even
• 6:27
Speaker 1: though Maxwell was disgraced, even though Maxwell lost a bunch
• 6:31
Speaker 1: of money, do you really think that the Maxwell family
• 6:34
Speaker 1: didn't have money squirreled away? Do you think that they
• 6:37
Speaker 1: were left with just nothing? I highly doubt that, folks.
• 6:43
Speaker 1: And I know that Ghislaine Maxwell had many, many different options,
• 6:51
Speaker 1: many different ways she could have went. But she ended
• 6:54
Speaker 1: up with Jeffrey Epstein. She ended up in that sphere.
• 7:01
Speaker 1: And when all of the information has come out and
• 7:07
Speaker 1: when we have the benefit of hindsight, we see that
• 7:11
Speaker 1: not only did she end up running around with Jeffrey
• 7:15
Speaker 1: Epstein as some lover or a victim as some people
• 7:20
Speaker 1: would like to paint her. We see the true face,
• 7:24
Speaker 1: and that face is Ghislaine Maxwell had a leadership role
• 7:28
Speaker 1: here and was a key component in getting this off
• 7:31
Speaker 1: of the ground. Robert Maxwell might have been a source
• 7:39
Speaker 1: of Epstein's wealth, according to the podcast, citing a 2010
• 7:42
Speaker 1: deposition from bookkeeper Maritza Vasquez in a Florida civil lawsuit
• 7:49
Speaker 1: in which she says Maxwell started Epstein's money. a claim
• 7:53
Speaker 1: only previously reported by tabloid The Sun through an anonymous source.
• 7:57
Speaker 1: And it's funny that they mention, oh, The Sun's a tabloid. Well,
• 8:00
Speaker 1: they might be a tabloid, and they might talk about
• 8:02
Speaker 1: some wild shit in other areas, but they've done a
• 8:06
Speaker 1: good job in this Jeffrey Epstein case. And it shows
• 8:10
Speaker 1: you just how much of a dumpster fire the legacy
• 8:13
Speaker 1: media is. They're getting scooped on the Epstein case by
• 8:17
Speaker 1: The Sun. Imagine that. Imagine having all the resources of
• 8:21
Speaker 1: the BBC or CNN or one of these other garbage outlets,
• 8:26
Speaker 1: and you get scooped by the sun. Vasquez also said
• 8:33
Speaker 1: in the deposition that Epstein had a relationship with a woman,
• 8:36
Speaker 1: that her father was very wealthy, and that's how he
• 8:39
Speaker 1: started his own money. Of course it is. Golly. Look,
• 8:43
Speaker 1: so Ghislaine Maxwell was set up with Jeffrey Epstein through
• 8:49
Speaker 1: the intelligence version of Match.com, right? And then she was
• 8:53
Speaker 1: launched into his orbit, was told that she had some
• 8:57
Speaker 1: funds that were at her discretion, and her and Jeffrey
• 9:01
Speaker 1: Epstein started laying the groundwork for this criminal enterprise. All
• 9:05
Speaker 1: bankrolled on the back of Robert Maxwell and whatever intelligence
• 9:10
Speaker 1: handlers had their palms on him at the time. My
• 9:13
Speaker 1: guess is the CIA. Lawyers for Maxwell did not respond
• 9:19
Speaker 1: to a request by Forbes to confirm how she met
• 9:21
Speaker 1: Epstein or if Robert Maxwell was a source of Epstein's wealth. Yeah,
• 9:26
Speaker 1: she's not going to, you know, why would she talk
• 9:27
Speaker 1: about that right now? That would be stupid. So if
• 9:31
Speaker 1: anyone thinks we're going to get any context from Ghislaine
• 9:34
Speaker 1: Maxwell or that she's going to add anything for us,
• 9:37
Speaker 1: you're going to be waiting for quite some time. Critical quote.
• 9:42
Speaker 1: In addition to these accounts, there's also a photo snapped
• 9:45
Speaker 1: a mere 19 days after Robert Maxwell's death that intimately
• 9:49
Speaker 1: links Epstein and Ghislaine. Shot at the Plaza Hotel during
• 9:53
Speaker 1: a memorial event for Robert Maxwell, the picture shows Ghislaine
• 9:56
Speaker 1: and Epstein in conversation. Reporter M. Saul says in the episode,
• 10:01
  Speaker 1: It doesn't look like a first date. That's because it's
• 10:13
Speaker 1: not a first date. See, I'm really glad that this
• 10:15
Speaker 1: broken podcast has come out and somebody with resources who
• 10:20
Speaker 1: is honorable like Tara Palmieri is involved because she's going
• 10:25
Speaker 1: to get to the bottom of this kind of stuff, right?
• 10:27
Speaker 1: She's not going to just sit by and let this
• 10:29
Speaker 1: shit slide. She sees it all. Everybody sees it all.
• 10:34
Speaker 1: The problem is the legacy media doesn't have the courage
• 10:36
Speaker 1: to run it because they're still scared of these people.
• 10:41
Speaker 1: And in some cases, some of their faves are caught
• 10:44
Speaker 1: up in it. But the fact that Ghislaine Maxwell and
• 10:47
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein, the origin story is this love affair that
• 10:54
Speaker 1: blossomed and then they grew apart, it's such bullshit in
• 10:57
Speaker 1: my opinion, okay? This was and always has been a clinical,
• 11:02
Speaker 1: surgically precise operation. Big number. $ 590 million. That's how much
• 11:12
Speaker 1: of pension funds stolen by Robert Maxwell from his mirror
• 11:15
Speaker 1: group publishing company went missing after his mysterious 1991 death.
• 11:20
Speaker 1: A presumed drowning after falling from his yacht, the Lady Ghislaine,
• 11:25
Speaker 1: into the sea off the Canary Islands. Just happens to
• 11:29
Speaker 1: be that he died on the boat, huh? Another person
• 11:33
Speaker 1: who just happened to commit suicide around Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell,
• 11:37
Speaker 1: and the rest of these scoundrels. They really think we're
• 11:39
Speaker 1: that stupid. Now, I don't have any evidence that Robert
• 11:44
Speaker 1: Maxwell didn't commit suicide. But when you look at all
• 11:48
Speaker 1: of the evidence that's lined up and you look. at
• 11:51
Speaker 1: the players on the stage, do you really think that
• 11:55
Speaker 1: it's beyond any of these people to clip somebody like
• 11:58
Speaker 1: Maxwell out at sea if they think he's going to
• 12:01
Speaker 1: rat on them or expose a plan or if he
• 12:05
Speaker 1: has outlived his usefulness? That's what these people do. Intelligence
• 12:10
Speaker 1: agencies burn assets all of the time, folks. The podcast
• 12:20
Speaker 1: raises questions about where his money got off to after
• 12:22
Speaker 1: he died, since it's never been recovered. At the time
• 12:26
Speaker 1: of his August 2019 death by suicide, Epstein's assets totaled
• 12:31
Speaker 1: $ 578 million. And Ghislaine Maxwell had $ 20 million to her
• 12:36
Speaker 1: name at the time of her July arrest, according to prosecutors.
• 12:41
Speaker 1: So remember what Epstein told everybody, right? He was a
• 12:45
Speaker 1: forensic accountant, basically, who worked for the government, who went
• 12:48
Speaker 1: and recovered money for the United States government. We know
• 12:53
Speaker 1: that he was a prolific, prolific money launderer. And we
• 12:58
Speaker 1: know that he had many, many front companies where he
• 13:02
Speaker 1: could stash this money. Now, Robert Maxwell's money still has
• 13:06
Speaker 1: never been found. You mean to tell me that it's
• 13:10
Speaker 1: out of the realm of possibility? That Jeffrey Epstein somehow
• 13:14
Speaker 1: took control of that $ 590 million and did Lord only
• 13:18
Speaker 1: knows what with it? Not out of the realm of
• 13:21
Speaker 1: possibility in my book, especially considering that none of that
• 13:24
Speaker 1: money was in the bank. None of that money was
• 13:27
Speaker 1: anywhere where the government could seize it. And now remember, folks,
• 13:32
Speaker 1: we're not dealing with average people here. We're dealing with
• 13:34
Speaker 1: people who are locked into the world of spycraft and intrigue.
• 13:40
Speaker 1: And guys like Robert Maxwell, for as repugnant as they are,
• 13:43
Speaker 1: they know their shit. And if you think for a
• 13:46
Speaker 1: minute that Robert Maxwell went to his grave leaving none
• 13:50
Speaker 1: of that money around for the operation or for his kids, well,
• 13:54
Speaker 1: you're being very naive. The new episode, Broken, Seeking Justice,
• 14:01
Speaker 1: seeks to unravel the tangled mystery surrounding Ghislaine Maxwell, who's
• 14:05
Speaker 1: often been referred to as Epstein's alleged madam. Maria Farmer,
• 14:10
Speaker 1: an alleged Epstein survivor, told the podcast she would drive
• 14:13
Speaker 1: around Manhattan's Central Park with Maxwell in the 90s scouting
• 14:17
Speaker 1: for models. Maxwell, Farmer said, would jump out of the
• 14:21
Speaker 1: car and invite girls back to Epstein's sprawling mansion to audition.
• 14:26
Speaker 1: And we've heard from Maria about all of this stuff
• 14:29
Speaker 1: and how she used to call them nubiles and how
• 14:32
Speaker 1: mean she was and the sort of character that she possessed.
• 14:36
Speaker 1: This is a woman... who was obviously, obviously reared in
• 14:42
Speaker 1: a world of intrigue. Farmer, who worked the front desk
• 14:52
Speaker 1: at the mansion, would sometimes see those girls come in
• 14:54
Speaker 1: and told the podcast she witnessed a couple of the
• 14:56
Speaker 1: girls crying as they left. In a November 2019 civil
• 15:01
Speaker 1: lawsuit against Epstein's estate, Farmer claims Epstein and Maxwell assaulted
• 15:06
Speaker 1: her at his New Mexico ranch in 1996 and describes
• 15:09
Speaker 1: the grooming and recruiting tactics allegedly used by the duo.
• 15:14
Speaker 1: It all goes into it, right? These are all tactics
• 15:18
Speaker 1: that these sort of cells, these intelligence cells, teach you.
• 15:24
Speaker 1: They teach you how to procure assets. In this case,
• 15:28
Speaker 1: those assets, it's disgusting to even say, were little girls
• 15:31
Speaker 1: and girls. and they were used as bait, basically, for
• 15:36
Speaker 1: this blackmail operation. As of Wednesday, Maxwell is awaiting trial
• 15:45
Speaker 1: in a Brooklyn federal lockup on charges of enticing and
• 15:48
Speaker 1: transporting minors as part of Epstein's alleged sex ring, along
• 15:52
Speaker 1: with committing perjury during her 2016 depositions that are part
• 15:58
Speaker 1: of a defamation case filed by another alleged survivor, Virginia Roberts,
• 16:03
Speaker 1: to which she entered a not guilty plea and denied
• 16:07
Speaker 1: all previous allegations. So one thing that I've always wondered
• 16:13
Speaker 1: here is how is it that R. Kelly gets hit
• 16:16
Speaker 1: with violations of the Mann Act, but Ghislaine Maxwell isn't
• 16:20
Speaker 1: facing Mann Act violations here, at least not in this
• 16:24
Speaker 1: original case. set of charges now as you all know
• 16:28
Speaker 1: I believe that there will be a superseded indictment and
• 16:31
Speaker 1: I think that more charges are going to follow but
• 16:35
Speaker 1: I don't understand how she is not in violation of
• 16:38
Speaker 1: the Mann Act tangent at a 1992 Manhattan party for
• 16:44
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell Maxwell's mother Betty Maxwell rumors flew that Epstein
• 16:48
Speaker 1: likes schoolgirls and Ghislaine Maxwell was helping him find them
• 16:53
Speaker 1: with none of the wealthy socialites in attendance questioning it,
• 16:56
Speaker 1: the podcast says, citing former friend and journalist Christopher Mason. So,
• 17:02
Speaker 1: look folks, that's just a little bit more of the
• 17:05
Speaker 1: origin story of Ghislaine Maxwell, right? Now, I might be
• 17:10
Speaker 1: completely wrong. Again, this is my working hypothesis here. I
• 17:16
Speaker 1: don't have tangible evidence to prove this. I can't give
• 17:21
Speaker 1: you bank statements or anything like that. All I have
• 17:24
Speaker 1: to go on is what we know so far and
• 17:28
Speaker 1: by putting the pieces of the puzzle together. And when
• 17:31
Speaker 1: you start to put those pieces of the puzzle together,
• 17:34
Speaker 1: it's rather obvious, at least to me, that Robert Maxwell
• 17:40
Speaker 1: was a big part of getting Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine
• 17:44
Speaker 1: Maxwell together and putting this whole entire operation into play.
• 17:50
Speaker 1: If you'd like to contact me, you could do that
• 17:52
  Speaker 1: at bobbycapucci at protonmail.com. That's B-O-B-B-Y-C-A-P-U-C-C-I at protonmail.com. You can
• 18:01
Speaker 1: also find me on Twitter at B-O-B-B-Y underscore C-A-P-U-C-C-I. All right, folks,
• 18:08
Speaker 1: all of the links that go with this episode can
• 18:10
Speaker 1: be found in the description box. We got a little
• 18:14
Speaker 1: bit more background on Ghislaine Maxwell and how she met
• 18:18
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein on the Broken podcast last Wednesday. According to
• 18:25
Speaker 1: the podcast, Maxwell was set up with Jeffrey Epstein by
• 18:28
Speaker 1: her pops so he could take care of her emotionally. Me?
• 18:32
Speaker 1: I don't believe that. Okay? I'll come out and say
• 18:35
Speaker 1: it right off the jump. Emotionally? Yeah, sorry, I don't
• 18:39
Speaker 1: buy it. Okay? Okay? A robot like her, she don't
• 18:42
Speaker 1: have emotions. Her father, good old Big Bob Maxwell, introduced
• 18:49
Speaker 1: them so that they could get this operation up and running.
• 18:53
Speaker 1: That is what I believe. That is where the evidence
• 18:56
Speaker 1: has led me. And I don't think that anyone can
• 19:01
Speaker 1: dispute the fact, once you look at all of the evidence,
• 19:07
Speaker 1: that Ghislaine Maxwell was acting like In a leadership position.
• 19:12
Speaker 1: During this whole entire run. When they first started. Maxwell
• 19:17
Speaker 1: was in charge right. Of all the recruiting procuring. And
• 19:20
Speaker 1: then they brought in the core four. And that's when Maxwell.
• 19:24
Speaker 1: Jumped to the next level. She had underlings below her.
• 19:28
Speaker 1: She had people carrying out. Her orders. So. The whole.
• 19:35
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein was taking care of her. Emotionally. leads a
• 19:40
Speaker 1: little bit too close to the edge of turning her
• 19:43
Speaker 1: into a victim for me. So, sorry, I don't buy that.
• 19:47
Speaker 1: I just don't buy it. As you all know, I've been...
• 19:50
Speaker 1: pretty clear about how I feel about Ghislaine Maxwell. I
• 19:53
Speaker 1: think that she is the brains behind this whole entire operation.
• 19:58
Speaker 1: And Epstein had a couple of bucks and the proclivities.
• 20:03
Speaker 1: So let's jump into this article and see what the
• 20:06
Speaker 1: Daily Mail has to say about Ghislaine Maxwell and being
• 20:10
Speaker 1: introduced to Jeffrey Epstein by her dad. Headline, Billionaire Matchmaker.
• 20:18
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell was set up with pedophile Jeffrey Epstein by
• 20:21
Speaker 1: her disgraced newspaper baron father, Robert, so he could take
• 20:25
Speaker 1: care of her emotionally. This article was authored by Daniel Bates.
• 20:34
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell once revealed that her father introduced her to
• 20:37
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein to take care of her emotionally. Oh yeah,
• 20:40
Speaker 1: because everything that comes out of Ghislaine Maxwell's mouth is
• 20:43
Speaker 1: what we should listen to, right? So if she's saying
• 20:47
Speaker 1: that the relationship was started for her to be taken
• 20:50
Speaker 1: care of emotionally, we have to try and look in
• 20:54
Speaker 1: between the lines and see what that really means. Because
• 20:56
Speaker 1: we all know we can't listen to anything this lady says.
• 21:00
Speaker 1: Everything that's come out of her mouth has been BS,
• 21:03
Speaker 1: it seems like. The pedophile's alleged chief recruiter confessed to
• 21:09
Speaker 1: one of his staffers that the late newspaper baron, Robert Maxwell,
• 21:13
Speaker 1: set her up with Epstein. Robert apparently believed that Epstein
• 21:17
Speaker 1: could provide her with the support she needed. Yeah, okay.
• 21:21
Speaker 1: Maybe that's their cover story. These people that run in
• 21:27
Speaker 1: these circles, the circles of intelligence, the circles of spycraft,
• 21:32
Speaker 1: do you really think you're ever going to get the
• 21:34
Speaker 1: truth out of them? Again, watch a show like The
• 21:37
Speaker 1: Americans and you'll see what I'm talking about. These people
• 21:41
Speaker 1: make up whole entire identities and realities to hide within.
• 21:46
Speaker 1: You really think that Ghislaine Maxwell... is above sowing some
• 21:49
Speaker 1: seeds of discontent, sowing a little bit of seeds of
• 21:52
Speaker 1: doubt and talking to the staffer and saying that she
• 21:58
Speaker 1: was set up by her dad because of the emotional support.
• 22:02
  Speaker 1: It's a good story, right? It's a good cover story,
• 22:04
Speaker 1: especially for her later on down the line if she
• 22:07
Speaker 1: wants to set herself up as a victim in all
• 22:12
Speaker 1: of this, right? Again, this bipedal serpent... is thinking 50
• 22:18
Speaker 1: moves ahead. Maxwell insisted that Epstein was not there to
• 22:24
Speaker 1: help financially and was very clear on that point, the
• 22:27
Speaker 1: staffer said. Yeah, no shit, because Maxwell, Epstein was being
• 22:31
Speaker 1: paid by her dad amongst others. Well, we don't think
• 22:35
Speaker 1: that Robert Maxwell was bankrolling Jeffrey Epstein's nonsense. We don't
• 22:39
Speaker 1: think that Robert Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein were making moves
• 22:44
Speaker 1: together on the financial front. Look, we don't have direct
• 22:49
Speaker 1: evidence of that yet, but it's coming, I'm sure. And
• 22:55
Speaker 1: the fact that Jeffrey Epstein and Robert Maxwell had so
• 22:59
Speaker 1: many mutual friends, it just does not make any sense
• 23:05
Speaker 1: to me that Robert Maxwell would not have been bankrolling
• 23:09
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein in some capacity. So of course it wasn't
• 23:13
Speaker 1: about the money. The money was how they facilitated their
• 23:17
Speaker 1: criminal enterprise. According to Broken Seeking Justice, an investigative podcast
• 23:26
Speaker 1: about the Epstein case, Maxwell met Epstein in 1988 and
• 23:30
Speaker 1: not after her father died in 1991, which is what
• 23:33
Speaker 1: was previously suggested. Suggested by whom, by the way? These
• 23:38
Speaker 1: same people that show up all of a sudden and
• 23:41
Speaker 1: have all of the answers? We've been talking about this
• 23:45
Speaker 1: part of the case for how long now here on
• 23:47
Speaker 1: this podcast? The fact that she obviously didn't meet him
• 23:52
Speaker 1: right after her father's death, how they had a relationship
• 23:57
Speaker 1: previous to that. We've talked about that a bunch here
• 24:01
Speaker 1: on this podcast and so has others. And yet now
• 24:05
Speaker 1: we got the legacy media involved and all of a
• 24:07
Speaker 1: sudden they're covering groundbreaking news, right? This is a groundbreaking report. No,
• 24:13
Speaker 1: just adds a little more context for us, right? A
• 24:16
Speaker 1: little more meat on the bone. If this is true,
• 24:21
Speaker 1: then it changes the dynamic about the couple and suggests
• 24:25
Speaker 1: that Maxwell did not befriend Epstein while in mourning for Robert,
• 24:29
Speaker 1: who fell off his yacht in the Canary Islands in
• 24:31
Speaker 1: mysterious circumstances. Yeah, he fell off his yacht. There's about
• 24:35
Speaker 1: as much chance that Robert Maxwell fell off that yacht
• 24:39
Speaker 1: as there is of me of walking into one of
• 24:41
Speaker 1: these casinos here in Las Vegas and winning megabucks. It
• 24:44
Speaker 1: is absurd that they would actually think that any of
• 24:47
Speaker 1: us would believe that Robert Maxwell wasn't clipped. Come on, man.
• 24:57
Speaker 1: In fact, 19 days after Robert's death, Maxwell was photographed
• 25:01
Speaker 1: at the Plaza Hotel in New York at a memorial
• 25:04
Speaker 1: event for her father. She sits wearing a blue silk jacket,
• 25:07
Speaker 1: smiling at Epstein, who is in a white bow tie
• 25:10
Speaker 1: with a big grin on his face. Hardly the look
• 25:13
Speaker 1: of two people meeting for the first time. Uh, yeah.
• 25:16
Speaker 1: It was pretty obvious when that picture was revealed, right?
• 25:20
Speaker 1: It's pretty obvious for anyone who's been following the case
• 25:23
Speaker 1: that the timelines didn't add up. They just did not
• 25:27
Speaker 1: add up. Ghislaine Maxwell was not some shrinking violet who
• 25:33
Speaker 1: needed the support of a man, okay, in the wake
• 25:37
Speaker 1: of her father's death. That does not fit with who
• 25:41
Speaker 1: she is, with the image of who she is, with
• 25:44
Speaker 1: who we know she is. The latest episode of the
• 25:53
Speaker 1: podcast delves into when Maxwell and Epstein met. and began
• 25:56
Speaker 1: a relationship that would last for some years in the 1990s. Oh,
• 26:00
Speaker 1: just in the 1990s, huh? No, much longer, all the way,
• 26:05
Speaker 1: probably all the way up till the second arrest, all right?
• 26:07
Speaker 1: We've seen the emails. We saw the email that came
• 26:09
Speaker 1: out in the hearing. So stop it, okay? Just stop it.
• 26:15
Speaker 1: According to federal prosecutors, during this time, Maxwell groomed girls
• 26:19
Speaker 1: as young as 14, charges she denies and will stand
• 26:22
Speaker 1: trial next July. Seeking Justice quotes numerous people who knew
• 26:26
Speaker 1: Maxwell and Epstein who say that they met before Robert's death. Yeah,
• 26:31
Speaker 1: they certainly did. This just happened overnight? This whole entire scheme?
• 26:37
Speaker 1: This whole entire plot? Hell no. This plot had been
• 26:41
Speaker 1: hatched for quite some time. Maxwell, the rest of his
• 26:44
Speaker 1: buddies in the mega group, the boys at the CIA,
• 26:47
Speaker 1: they were just waiting for the right tools to do
• 26:50
Speaker 1: the job. And Epstein showed up. And Maxwell, who they
• 26:54
Speaker 1: already knew because of her father, decided to slide in.
• 26:58
Speaker 1: And boy, it was a match made in heaven for
• 27:01
Speaker 1: the CIA and the rest of their lackeys. That's right.
• 27:04
Speaker 1: The Mossad is a lackey of the CIA. Yeah, that's right.
• 27:08
Speaker 1: All of them. All of these intelligence services, in fact.
• 27:12
Speaker 1: What do you think? Any of them can do anything
• 27:14
Speaker 1: without the CIA knowing? One friend says that they understood
• 27:20
Speaker 1: the paramount in London through Robert. But she wasn't interested
• 27:24
Speaker 1: in him immediately. Yeah, no shit. That wasn't what it
• 27:27
Speaker 1: was about. It was never about love. It was never
• 27:29
Speaker 1: about emotional attachment. It was never about, oh, Jeffrey's such
• 27:34
Speaker 1: a great guy. I want to be with him for
• 27:35
Speaker 1: the rest of my life. It was all a means
• 27:39
Speaker 1: to an end. It was all about putting together this
• 27:44
Speaker 1: operation and then making sure that it ran in a
• 27:48
Speaker 1: seamless manner. And that's what they did for decades with
• 27:52
Speaker 1: their help, with the help from their friends, I mean,
• 27:55
Speaker 1: at the corrupt FBI, the CIA, and insert your favorite
• 28:00
Speaker 1: politician here. One friend says that they understood the pair
• 28:09
Speaker 1: met in London through Robert, but she wasn't interested in
• 28:11
Speaker 1: him immediately. The former Epstein staffer, who is not named,
• 28:16
Speaker 1: says they were told a similar story by Maxwell herself. Yeah,
• 28:22
Speaker 1: you know, look, the best lies have a little truth
• 28:25
Speaker 1: sprinkled in, don't they? Maxwell was planning her cover story
• 28:29
Speaker 1: a long time ago, from where I'm sitting. That's most
• 28:32
Speaker 1: certainly what it looks like to me. Let's sow those seeds.
• 28:35
Speaker 1: Let's let them grow for a little while. And then eventually,
• 28:38
Speaker 1: if I ever get nailed, we can come back to
• 28:40
Speaker 1: this part and we can say that I was a victim.
• 28:44
Speaker 1: That's how she rolls. But in reality, we all know
• 28:48
Speaker 1: the score, don't we? Everybody has been paying attention, Ghislaine.
• 28:54
Speaker 1: And your tired old tricks are not going to work.
• 28:57
Speaker 1: And neither are these BS cover stories. The staffer recalled
• 29:03
Speaker 1: an unsettling visit to Maxwell's Manhattan apartment in the early
• 29:07
Speaker 1: 90s when she pulled out eight photo albums of her
• 29:09
Speaker 1: father's funeral in Israel. Eight photo albums from a funeral
• 29:15
Speaker 1: in Israel, huh? Nah, Robert Maxwell had no connections to
• 29:19
Speaker 1: anybody in intelligence. Why would he be given a state
• 29:23
Speaker 1: funeral in Israel? Ask yourselves that. Afterwards, the staffer was
• 29:28
Speaker 1: ready to jump off a bridge, but then Maxwell said
• 29:31
Speaker 1: something that surprised them. According to journalist Emily Saul, out
• 29:35
Speaker 1: of the blue, Ghislaine said her dad actually connected her
• 29:38
Speaker 1: with Epstein. Well, yeah, look, I'm glad that this podcast, Broken,
• 29:44
Speaker 1: is out there to help the unsullied and stuff. But
• 29:48
Speaker 1: those of us who have been following this for quite
• 29:50
Speaker 1: some time, we were all hip to this, right? We
• 29:52
Speaker 1: all heard Maria Farmer's interviews. We've all heard everything that
• 29:56
Speaker 1: had come before her. And when you put the pieces together,
• 30:00
Speaker 1: it's quite obvious that this wasn't some love romance. This
• 30:04
Speaker 1: wasn't some situation where the two of them fell in
• 30:08
Speaker 1: love and they were skipping through a field and one
• 30:12
Speaker 1: of them was frolicking through flowers. None of that was occurring.
• 30:17
Speaker 1: This was a relationship of mutual beneficial scumbaggery. The idea
• 30:26
Speaker 1: was Epstein was someone who could take care of her emotionally,
• 30:29
Speaker 1: not financially. Ghislaine was very clear on that last part. Again,
• 30:33
Speaker 1: cover story in my opinion. Could I be wrong? Sure.
• 30:36
Speaker 1: Might I be out to lunch here? Maybe. But so far,
• 30:39
Speaker 1: I think my track record is pretty good of sniffing
• 30:42
Speaker 1: this sort of shit out. And I'll tell you what,
• 30:45
Speaker 1: my big ol' schnoz is sniffing out some BS here.
• 30:50
Speaker 1: Others have had different theories about Maxwell and Epstein's relationship.
• 30:54
Speaker 1: Prince Andrew's cousin, Christina Oxenberg, has told DailyMail.com that she
• 30:59
Speaker 1: got to know the couple in 1993 and thought that
• 31:02
Speaker 1: Maxwell wanted to marry Epstein, but he wasn't interested. Again,
• 31:06
Speaker 1: I do not buy that story. Could have Ghislaine put
• 31:09
Speaker 1: on that mask and acted like the dough in love?
• 31:12
Speaker 1: Of course she could have. She was very good at that.
• 31:14
Speaker 1: She's very good at manipulating the situation. But do I
• 31:18
Speaker 1: think that this was a love situation where these two
• 31:22
Speaker 1: were in love? No, I do not. Epstein's former housekeeper
• 31:28
Speaker 1: in Palm Beach, Juan Alessi, has claimed that Maxwell once
• 31:31
Speaker 1: told him, I hate him, but I can't leave. Yeah, well,
• 31:34
Speaker 1: we could take that a bunch of ways, right? The
• 31:36
Speaker 1: way I take it is, she can't leave because her
• 31:39
Speaker 1: handlers haven't given her the okay to stop the operation.
• 31:43
Speaker 1: And you think Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell wielded power?
• 31:48
Speaker 1: Wait till you get a load of the intelligence agencies.
• 31:53
Speaker 1: In the podcast, Epstein survivor Maria Farmer, who claims that
• 31:56
Speaker 1: Epstein and Maxwell sexually assaulted her, said that she saw
• 32:00
Speaker 1: the recruiting operation herself when she worked for them in
• 32:02
Speaker 1: the mid-1990s. This was long before they had allegedly set
• 32:08
Speaker 1: up the pyramid of recruiters that would allegedly funnel dozens
• 32:11
Speaker 1: of women to Epstein, and it was just Ghislaine doing it.
• 32:14
Speaker 1: Farmer says that at 3 p.m. on the dot every day,
• 32:18
Speaker 1: Ghislaine would materialize on edge and was always dressed immaculately.
• 32:22
Speaker 1: From Epstein's mansion on Manhattan's Upper East Side, they could
• 32:25
Speaker 1: hear the school bells ringing for the end of the day,
• 32:28
Speaker 1: and Maxwell would get all hysterical and say, I need
• 32:31
Speaker 1: to get new biles. I mean, can you imagine? Imagine
• 32:35
Speaker 1: being near somebody who acted this way? I can't even
• 32:40
Speaker 1: imagine what Maria went through with these sick bastards. It's
• 32:43
Speaker 1: just unbelievable. Farmers said they would drive around the neighborhood
• 32:47
Speaker 1: and hunted children. She said Ghislaine would say, I got
• 32:50
Speaker 1: to get a model, got to get a Victoria's Secret model.
• 32:54
Speaker 1: I was dumb enough to believe it. I believed it
• 32:56
Speaker 1: until I didn't. Who would think this woman would be
• 32:59
Speaker 1: a British witch? She was so nice. So the cover
• 33:03
Speaker 1: story always was for the workers that worked for Jeffrey
• 33:07
Speaker 1: Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell at the townhouse, the ones that
• 33:10
Speaker 1: weren't involved. The cover story was, oh, I have to
• 33:12
  Speaker 1: get a model. I'm looking for a model for Victoria's
• 33:14
Speaker 1: Secret or I'm looking for whatever, an actress or whatever
• 33:18
Speaker 1: it may be. I'd seen her go drive up half
• 33:23
Speaker 1: central park, tell the driver, stop the car. She would
• 33:26
Speaker 1: jump out. She would give a phone number. She would
• 33:28
Speaker 1: give a phone number, write it down, give it to
• 33:30
Speaker 1: the kids. Everybody always loved her because she seemed so trustworthy.
• 33:35
Speaker 1: It was pretty wild the way she would run out
• 33:37
Speaker 1: and get people. I did recognize some of the girls
• 33:40
Speaker 1: we met in the park the next day when she
• 33:42
Speaker 1: came in to audition for modeling. She was really excited.
• 33:46
Speaker 1: Farmer said that after seeing Epstein, a couple of them
• 33:48
Speaker 1: were crying. I don't remember seeing anyone return ever. And remember,
• 33:53
Speaker 1: Maria called the FBI on these people and the FBI
• 33:56
Speaker 1: did squants. They did nothing. Not a thing. Virginia Roberts,
• 34:02
Speaker 1: another Epstein survivor who claims she was forced to have
• 34:05
Speaker 1: sex with Prince Andrew, says that's because Maxwell looks like
• 34:08
Speaker 1: a nice Mary Poppins figure. You had to trust her.
• 34:12
Speaker 1: Maxwell was so proud of her prowess as a recruiter
• 34:15
Speaker 1: that on a trip to Paris, she chastised Roberts for
• 34:18
Speaker 1: failing at it. You had to trust her because you're
• 34:21
Speaker 1: a Mary Poppins figure. I'll tell you what, that's one
• 34:25
Speaker 1: reason I'm glad that I grew up where I grew up,
• 34:28
Speaker 1: because I don't trust a soul until I can trust you.
• 34:31
Speaker 1: You get it? Until you've proven to me you're trustworthy,
• 34:35
  Speaker 1: I don't trust you. You're a stranger. I don't know you.
• 34:37
Speaker 1: I don't know your intentions. I'm not running around with
• 34:40
Speaker 1: my eyes closed thinking that people have good intentions for
• 34:43
Speaker 1: me because life has most certainly shown me the complete opposite.
• 34:50
Speaker 1: Robert said, she said, I just can't believe how bad
• 34:54
Speaker 1: you are at it. Pick any girl in the square.
• 34:56
Speaker 1: A pretty orange haired girl walked past. She said, I'm
• 35:00
Speaker 1: going to go up to her. You watch. We're going
• 35:02
Speaker 1: to have her over tonight. Sure enough, that girl was
• 35:05
Speaker 1: at the hotel that night. And this is another reason
• 35:09
Speaker 1: why I'm so adamant about Ghislaine Maxwell getting the book
• 35:14
Speaker 1: thrown at her about getting slapped with RICO charges. The
• 35:19
Speaker 1: way she brazenly went about her business, the way she
• 35:22
Speaker 1: just went after these schoolchildren is enough to make me sick.
• 35:28
Speaker 1: And then you have people who act like it was
• 35:30
Speaker 1: only the girls that we have heard from. No. No.
• 35:34
Speaker 1: Times that by 20, 30, 50, 100, whatever it may be.
• 35:38
Speaker 1: But there are so many girls who we have not
• 35:40
Speaker 1: heard from yet. Girls that have not come forward. Girls
• 35:43
Speaker 1: that might not even be with us anymore. This has
• 35:46
Speaker 1: been happening for a long time. Who the hell knows?
• 35:49
Speaker 1: My point is, there are so many other people out
• 35:53
Speaker 1: there that have been victimized by Ghislaine Maxwell and her machinations.
• 36:04
Speaker 1: Ghislaine was so proud of herself because she proved to
• 36:07
Speaker 1: me I was really shitty at procuring girls, and she
• 36:10
Speaker 1: was amazing at it. There was no sorrow or even,
• 36:13
Speaker 1: you're doing something wrong, you shouldn't do it. There was
• 36:15
Speaker 1: nothing like that. It was just a game to her.
• 36:18
Speaker 1: And that's how it is with all these rich people, right?
• 36:20
Speaker 1: We're just pieces on a chessboard for them, basically. They
• 36:23
Speaker 1: don't give a damn about me or you or anybody else.
• 36:26
Speaker 1: All of these clowns, all of these politicians, all of
• 36:29
Speaker 1: these shitbirds that get up on their ivory tower... and
• 36:32
Speaker 1: talk about how much they care about the people, huh?
• 36:36
Speaker 1: That's this whole entire so-called polite society. Maxwell stayed in
• 36:43
Speaker 1: Epstein's orbit until after he was investigated by Palm Beach
• 36:46
Speaker 1: police in 2005 and later agreed to a sweetheart plea
• 36:50
Speaker 1: deal under which he served just 15 months in prison.
• 36:53
Speaker 1: Robert said that Maxwell caught when there was trouble, adding
• 36:56
Speaker 1: that Ghislaine only cares about one thing, and that's Ghislaine. Huh,
• 37:00
Speaker 1: where else have you guys heard that, huh? How long
• 37:02
Speaker 1: have I been preaching that here on this podcast? Ghislaine
• 37:07
Speaker 1: Maxwell only cares about herself, only cares about consolidating her power,
• 37:12
Speaker 1: and only cares about making sure she's not the one
• 37:14
Speaker 1: left twisting in the wind. So if you were friends
• 37:17
Speaker 1: with Ghislaine Maxwell, if you were cavorting with Ghislaine Maxwell,
• 37:21
Speaker 1: if you were having private vegetarian dinners with Ghislaine Maxwell,
• 37:28
Speaker 1: you should be on notice that your number might be
• 37:32
Speaker 1: pulled next. If you'd like to contact me, you can

• 38:04
Speaker 1: Journalist and author John Sweeney has recently released a book
• 38:08
Speaker 1: about Ghislaine Maxwell. And today we're going to talk about
• 38:12
Speaker 1: that book a little bit, and talk about the review
• 38:15
Speaker 1: of that book that The Telegraph has put out. So,
• 38:19
Speaker 1: let's get to it. Headline, Hunting Galane Review, Queasy Biography
• 38:25
Speaker 1: of an Abuser Who Saw Sex as Currency. John Sweeney's
• 38:29
Speaker 1: new book sheds fresh light on Maxwell's servile, abusive relationship
• 38:34
Speaker 1: with her father, but its prose will make you cringe. Now,
• 38:38
Speaker 1: I haven't read this book yet. I'll probably grab it
• 38:41
Speaker 1: off of Audible and get to it in the next
• 38:44
Speaker 1: few weeks as I try to do with most of
• 38:46
Speaker 1: these books that come out covering this topic. So I
• 38:49
Speaker 1: don't have much to offer in the way of personal
• 38:52
Speaker 1: experience as far as reading the book yet. But I
• 38:55
Speaker 1: found this review to be relatively interesting. This article was
• 39:00
Speaker 1: authored by Mick Brown. With Ghislaine Maxwell now confined to
• 39:06
Speaker 1: a cell in Florida's Tallahassee Federal Correctional Institute, serving a
• 39:10
Speaker 1: sentence of 20 years for conspiring with Jeffrey Epstein to
• 39:14
Speaker 1: sexually abuse minors, and with the names of those wealthy
• 39:17
Speaker 1: and powerful men to whom, it is alleged, Epstein peddled
• 39:21
Speaker 1: sexual favors still waiting disclosure, comes yet another chapter in
• 39:25
Speaker 1: this most horrific saga. Well, that's pretty much spot on.
• 39:30
Speaker 1: Horrific saga, for sure. She definitely has some names that
• 39:33
Speaker 1: nobody is aware of or that people need confirmation of.
• 39:37
Speaker 1: The question is, would she ever play ball? And so far,
• 39:41
Speaker 1: it certainly seems like the answer to that question is no.
• 39:45
Speaker 1: Hunting Ghislaine by the investigative journalist John Sweeney is based
• 39:49
Speaker 1: on Sweeney's popular 2020 podcast of the same name. It's
• 39:54
Speaker 1: a story with which we are all familiar, overly familiar perhaps,
• 39:58
Speaker 1: but while Sweeney draws copiously on the extensive reporting done
• 40:02
Speaker 1: by others, his book carefully researched and written in a
• 40:06
Speaker 1: breezy journalese casts a new light on the complex character
• 40:10
Speaker 1: of Ghislaine Maxwell and her fateful relationship with Epstein and
• 40:15
Speaker 1: her father. So my guess is we're going to rehash
• 40:18
Speaker 1: a bunch of old territory here, maybe get some, you know,
• 40:22
Speaker 1: new information, a tidbit here or there, some insight. But
• 40:25
Speaker 1: the overall story is what it is. There is no
• 40:29
Speaker 1: excuse under this sun for Maxwell to engage in the
• 40:33
Speaker 1: abuse that she engaged in. Robert Maxwell was untamable, dangerous, unpredictable,
• 40:42
Speaker 1: with power over all he surveyed. Physically huge, brutal, narcissistic,
• 40:47
Speaker 1: and sadistic, he was hated by almost everybody he came
• 40:50
Speaker 1: into contact with, except for the youngest of his nine children, Ghislaine,
• 40:54
Speaker 1: whom he apparently adored, but not enough to restrain his
• 40:58
Speaker 1: bullying and frequent beatings. Look, some people are just like that.
• 41:02
Speaker 1: There are some people out there who shouldn't have children.
• 41:06
Speaker 1: And if you're going to abuse your children, you, my friend,
• 41:09
Speaker 1: are one of those people. And it seems like Robert
• 41:11
Speaker 1: Maxwell was an abusive dickhead. Sweeney offers fresh light here.
• 41:19
Speaker 1: We think of Ghislaine as Maxwell's spoiled favorite, which she was.
• 41:23
Speaker 1: Yet at the same time, he treated her appallingly. Nothing
• 41:27
Speaker 1: was too good for her, but nothing she did would
• 41:29
Speaker 1: ever be good enough for him. Her adoration seems almost
• 41:34
Speaker 1: Stockholm Syndrome-like. It is clear that Ghislaine was damaged long
• 41:37
Speaker 1: before her father toppled off the back of his 180-foot
• 41:41
Speaker 1: luxury yacht. The Lady Ghislaine, serendipitously avoiding the revelation that
• 41:47
Speaker 1: he had been embezzling £ 460 million from the Mira pension scheme.
• 41:52
Speaker 1: And again, another coincidental... suicide, if you will, surrounding the
• 41:58
Speaker 1: Maxwell-Epstein story. Now, am I going to sit here and
• 42:00
Speaker 1: tell you that Robert Maxwell didn't take a topple off
• 42:04
  Speaker 1: of that boat? No, I'm not. I don't know I
• 42:06
Speaker 1: wasn't there. But it sure seems a bit suspect to
• 42:09
Speaker 1: me that on the evening, basically, of him being outed
• 42:14
Speaker 1: as embezzling this money, he happens to, quote-unquote, fall while
• 42:18
Speaker 1: he's taking a whiz off the side of his boat. Okay,
• 42:21
Speaker 1: I guess. Reading Sweeney's description of her hopelessly servile, horribly
• 42:29
Speaker 1: abusive relationship with her father, it is hard not to
• 42:32
Speaker 1: feel some sympathy for her. A sentiment quickly extinguished when
• 42:36
Speaker 1: you consider that she has shown no sympathy nor remorse
• 42:40
Speaker 1: for the young girl she pimped on Epstein's behalf. You
• 42:43
Speaker 1: mean abused on Epstein's behalf, right? I'm not going to
• 42:46
Speaker 1: give her the out by saying, oh, she's just the pimp.
• 42:48
Speaker 1: That's not what she was. That would infer that these
• 42:51
Speaker 1: women were being sold. They weren't being sold. Jeffrey Epstein
• 42:55
Speaker 1: was providing this quote-unquote service, if you will, so that
• 42:59
Speaker 1: he could get information from these encounters. So it wasn't
• 43:04
Speaker 1: like Heidi Fleiss. You couldn't pick up the phone and
• 43:07
Speaker 1: call Jeffrey Epstein and be like, hey, send me your
• 43:09
Speaker 1: girl for $ 1. 50. That wasn't what he was doing. Sweeney
• 43:15
Speaker 1: explores the theories about Epstein having laundered Robert Maxwell's ill-gotten
• 43:19
Speaker 1: gains without ever getting to the bottom of it. But
• 43:22
Speaker 1: it seems clear that Ghislaine knew Epstein or of him
• 43:25
Speaker 1: before she flew to New York in the wake of
• 43:27
Speaker 1: her father's death. She became Epstein's lover and the manager
• 43:32
Speaker 1: of his various homes, although they never cohabitated. He had
• 43:36
Speaker 1: his mansion and she had the mansion he bought for her.
• 43:40
Speaker 1: The whole thing about her not knowing Epstein until she
• 43:43
Speaker 1: got to New York is a bunch of bubkis. They
• 43:47
Speaker 1: knew each other. Now, were they intimately friendly? I don't know.
• 43:50
Speaker 1: But they certainly knew who each other were and of
• 43:54
Speaker 1: each other. In a sense, they were made for each other.
• 44:00
Speaker 1: He was the powerful male figure and key to a
• 44:03
Speaker 1: life of luxury that she had lost when Robert Maxwell
• 44:06
Speaker 1: went overboard. She had a Rolodex of connections, not least
• 44:10
Speaker 1: Prince Andrew, who could provide the shady financier, pedophile, with
• 44:14
Speaker 1: a veneer of social respectability and cachet. That's what he
• 44:18
Speaker 1: was looking for. That's certainly part of it. He wanted
• 44:21
Speaker 1: to be accepted in all of those circles. And he
• 44:25
Speaker 1: knew that his money alone wouldn't get him there. And
• 44:27
Speaker 1: he couldn't connive his way there. So he needed the
• 44:30
Speaker 1: vehicle to get into these social circles. And that was
• 44:34
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell. Then, there was the shared interest in sex. Epstein,
• 44:41
Speaker 1: as Donald Trump observed, had a widely known enthusiasm for
• 44:44
Speaker 1: young girls. According to one visitor, there was only one
• 44:47
Speaker 1: book on view on his home, the Marquis de Sade's
• 44:51
Speaker 1: The Misfortune of Virtue. And I'm sure most of you
• 44:54
Speaker 1: are familiar with the Marquis de Sade and his writings.
• 44:59
Speaker 1: Probably not the only book you'd want hanging out on
• 45:01
Speaker 1: the shelf. Ghislaine was a partying girl. vivacious, fun, and
• 45:08
Speaker 1: in Sweeney's words, sexed up big time. Perhaps carried away
• 45:13
Speaker 1: by the tawdryness of the subject matter, Sweeney's writing can
• 45:17
Speaker 1: sometimes veer alarmingly to a sort of Mickey Spillane redux.
• 45:21
Speaker 1: Kevin Maxwell's spirited wife, Pandora, is described as his ballsy squeeze. Hey, look,
• 45:27
Speaker 1: a little flowery wordplay is never a bad idea for
• 45:31
Speaker 1: a book. At the end of the day, you have
• 45:33
Speaker 1: to entertain. If you're writing a book, people have to
• 45:35
Speaker 1: be entertained by it. One female acquaintance recalls a party
• 45:41
Speaker 1: at Robert Maxwell's posh council house, Headington Hall, rented from
• 45:45
Speaker 1: the local authority, where Ghislaine organized a game of guess-whos,
• 45:49
Speaker 1: in which the men would be blindfolded and the women
• 45:52
Speaker 1: remove their bras to be fondled and groped. Ghislaine says
• 45:56
Speaker 1: she saw sex simply as a currency. Another puts it
• 45:59
Speaker 1: more bluntly saying she was obsessed. And there's been a
• 46:03
Speaker 1: lot of stories about this instance and that game that
• 46:06
Speaker 1: she allegedly set up and how uncomfortable it made some people.
• 46:09
Speaker 1: But my guess is a lot of people weren't uncomfortable
• 46:12
Speaker 1: by it because a lot of people share her proclivities.
• 46:16
Speaker 1: They might not be outed yet, but there's a lot
• 46:18
Speaker 1: of sick people out there, folks. And a lot of
• 46:20
Speaker 1: them are in so-called polite society. Puritanism sickens the soul,
• 46:28
Speaker 1: Sweeney writes, purse-lipped. And I am no Puritan, but the
• 46:32
Speaker 1: evidence is clear that Ghislaine's sexuality was charged. Unusually so.
• 46:37
Speaker 1: And under most circumstances, I don't care if you want
• 46:39
Speaker 1: to be a sexual person. You want to go out
• 46:42
Speaker 1: and you want to have sex with people? That's your business.
• 46:44
Speaker 1: What do I care? As long as people are consenting.
• 46:48
Speaker 1: But that's what we're talking about here, right? A bunch
• 46:50
Speaker 1: of girls who didn't consent. In New York, under Epstein's sway,
• 46:56
Speaker 1: she would go on hunting expeditions for adolescent girls, ostensibly
• 47:00
Speaker 1: to audition them as models. I've got to go get
• 47:03
Speaker 1: the newbiles, she told one of Epstein's employees, meaning Maria Farmer.
• 47:07
Speaker 1: Maria Farmer told us all about the newbiles and what
• 47:10
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell used to say to her. A number of
• 47:14
Speaker 1: girls subsequently turned up at his house, wearing school uniforms
• 47:18
Speaker 1: and braces on their teeth. Sweeney methodically chronicles the steps
• 47:22
Speaker 1: of grooming, spotting the victim as being vulnerable, unstable, from
• 47:26
Speaker 1: a broken home. The friendly approach, the offer of a
• 47:30
Speaker 1: job advancement or simply ready cash. The seemingly innocent suggestion
• 47:35
Speaker 1: of giving Epstein a massage, the ensuing abuse and entrapment.
• 47:39
Speaker 1: And that's how it all worked out. You go over there,
• 47:42
Speaker 1: it starts out with a massage. Before you know it,
• 47:44
Speaker 1: you're caught up in the web and you're not only
• 47:46
Speaker 1: being abused, you're bringing your friends over to be abused
• 47:49
Speaker 1: as well. Sweeney theorizes that like a cult victim, just
• 47:54
Speaker 1: as Ghislaine could never bring herself to believe her father
• 47:56
Speaker 1: was the monster, he probably was. So she blinded herself
• 48:00
Speaker 1: to Epstein's depravity, even as she became a willing accomplice
• 48:04
Speaker 1: to it. I don't see it that way. Sorry. No way.
• 48:07
Speaker 1: She knew exactly what she was doing and she did
• 48:09
Speaker 1: it with all the gusto in the world. A former
• 48:14
Speaker 1: acquaintance sees it differently, observing that Ghislaine would not be
• 48:17
Speaker 1: the first woman who possesses sexual picadillo of sharing women
• 48:21
Speaker 1: with her boyfriend. Underlying all of that was her libertarian
• 48:25
Speaker 1: sexual appetites. That played a lot into it. She had
• 48:28
Speaker 1: her own proclivities, there's no doubt. There's no doubt about it.
• 48:35
Speaker 1: The book has the feeling of being written in a hurry.
• 48:38
Speaker 1: The structure is frequently haphazard. It is poorly edited. The
• 48:42
Speaker 1: breezy tone begins to grate. In a list of scientists
• 48:46
Speaker 1: courted by Epstein, who was apparently interested in cryogenics and
• 48:50
Speaker 1: wanted his brain and penis frozen, Stephen Hawking is described
• 48:54
Speaker 1: as the late great astronomer, Oliver Sacks as the brain boffin.
• 48:58
Speaker 1: Both men attended parties thrown by Epstein, where the knapes
• 49:02
Speaker 1: were handed out by stunningly beautiful models out of a catalogue.
• 49:07
Speaker 1: Pondering why the boffins allowed themselves to be courted by
• 49:10
Speaker 1: such a transparent chancer as Epstein, Sweeney writes, Prudently adding,
• 49:20
Speaker 1: that any of the stellar intellects committed any wrongdoing. Well,
• 49:23
Speaker 1: except for the ones that Virginia has pointed to. How
• 49:27
Speaker 1: about those guys? Probably a few questions to ask them.
• 49:34
Speaker 1: Sweeney's strengths as a reporter show themselves in his account
• 49:37
Speaker 1: of Maxwell's trial, forensically detailing the abuse that occurred at
• 49:41
Speaker 1: Epstein's numerous properties, the degree of her complicity in the crimes,
• 49:45
Speaker 1: and the cruelty in her denials, effectively making the victim
• 49:49
Speaker 1: suffer twice over and having to relive their abuse in court.
• 49:54
Speaker 1: Maxwell refused to take the stand in her defense, telling
• 49:57
Speaker 1: the judge that the case against her had not been
• 49:59
Speaker 1: proved beyond a reasonable doubt. The truth, Sweeney writes, is
• 50:03
Speaker 1: she knew she would be ripped to shreds. That's a fact.
• 50:06
Speaker 1: She knew that if she got up there, she would
• 50:08
Speaker 1: be absolutely hammered and absolutely destroyed by the prosecution. Among
• 50:16
Speaker 1: the wealth of evidence presented to the court was the
• 50:19
Speaker 1: Palm Beach Etiquette Manual, including a list of toiletries that
• 50:22
Speaker 1: Epstein insisted his staff kept in stock. One item catches
• 50:26
Speaker 1: the eye. Burberry Baby Touch Soothing Massage Oil. Somehow, nothing
• 50:31
Speaker 1: quite encapsulates the full horror of what Epstein did and
• 50:36
Speaker 1: Maxwell's part in it more than the thought of that. Well,
• 50:40
Speaker 1: that is a review from The Telegraph on the new
• 50:44
Speaker 1: John Sweeney book. Now, I haven't read it myself, like
• 50:47
Speaker 1: I said, but I plan on reading it very soon.
• 50:51
Speaker 1: So there you have it, folks. If you're looking for
• 50:52
Speaker 1: some more information, you want to gobble down another book,
• 50:56
Speaker 1: there's one for you. As for me, that's going to
