- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome to the Brain's Body Podcast.
- 0:04Speaker 1: I am Dr Christopher K Slayton, your host and author of Dr Slayton Live TM Reflective Storytelling the Crisis of Self.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Listen to this excerpt from my new book on brain, body and sense messaging.
- 0:19Speaker 1: The reason we can engage in this dialogue is that your brain, body and sense organs form a communication system that enables interaction.
- 0:28Speaker 1: But before we dive into how we interact, we must first consider sense contact as the foundation of self-awareness, what I call the physics of self.
- 0:38Speaker 1: This is how we evolve through our external sense of self.
- 0:41Speaker 1: This is why I practice human system science.
- 0:44Speaker 1: It allows me to address the body as an external influence that shapes how I look, act and experience feelings.
- 0:53Speaker 1: The moment I begin to interact with my body to make sense of it, I create a process loop, the intersection between my sense of self and my sense of feel for self.
- 1:03Speaker 1: My brain actively reads and assesses my body, creating a social and environmental understanding of self as I reflect to describe the crisis of self.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Through this, my inner voice emerges as I develop a sense of myself based on physical observations that my brain reads and interprets.
- 1:22Speaker 1: This transformation moves from an external sense of self to an internal sense of feel for self, a shift that is processed and refined by the brain.
- 1:32Speaker 1: These connections will be explored throughout this book.
- 1:35Speaker 1: In other words, my inner voice speaks through my internal sense of self, which is influenced by my experiences with the outer world.
- 1:44Speaker 1: My brain, body and senses are constantly transmitting messages.
- 1:50Speaker 1: This is why human system science is a game changer.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It focuses on the receive path, which enables me to process and respond to how my brain and body interact with the world.
- 2:02Speaker 1: And do you know what that feels like?
- 2:04Speaker 1: I'm talking about brain talk, because that's what we're talking about in the crisis of self is how do you transform and begin to understand inner voice and how it impacts your ability to reflect on the experience, because you have forward and backward feet I'm talking about.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Your states of mind are stored by the external experience, and then your sense of feel for self, which is a process loop that allows you to learn how to come to think, or how you come to think through the things you feel.
- 2:35Speaker 1: So when I talk to you about brain talk, I'm talking about the external energy, meaning the internal influences of your sense of feel for self, your brain, and how that translates into a exchange where you can begin to understand what happened.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Wait a minute, because we're talking about the crisis self.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Wait a minute.
- 2:56Speaker 1: And we talk about the crisis self in relation to those variables that we all experience.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Can you relate to this?
- 3:02Speaker 1: Home, school, neighborhood, workplace?
- 3:05Speaker 1: I'm talking about the killing fields.
- 3:07Speaker 1: If you don't know, you should know that you have to learn how to live inside a home with the people.
- 3:14Speaker 1: So, parents, I'm saying to you, you have to teach your child how to live inside the home with you and other people, because that's contact and that's how you set up the receive path so they can begin to understand their sense of feel for self.
- 3:31Speaker 1: So their inner voice that we all have will transform into brain talk when they begin to understand.
- 3:40Speaker 1: The intellectual side of them comes from their ability to move through contact and interact, which transforms the levels of understanding through cooperative engagement.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I mean you sense to feel, to cooperate so that your received path is the lead of your body, because you're learning how to manage that emotion.
- 4:04Speaker 1: You're learning how to manage and control your thinking.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Wait a minute, we're talking about brain talk.
- 4:11Speaker 1: So when the brain talks, it's because it's been processed through your sense of feel for self.
- 4:16Speaker 1: So when I talk about brain talk, I can just say your sense of feel for self.
- 4:21Speaker 1: But I want it understood that I'm talking about two halves the external and the internal.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I'm talking about the body as a physical state and a state of mind as the experience of the environmental stimulus that impacts the experience of self, your sense of self, your personality, attitude, character, behavior, because you have to process those experiences.
- 4:48Speaker 1: But the key from my point of view in my research is your sense of feel for self.
- 4:56Speaker 1: You have to realize, become more aware that you're inside the body and that you work with your brain to learn your brain.
- 5:05Speaker 1: So when the brain's in the lead, you learn how to live in the home.
- 5:11Speaker 1: You learn how to learn in the school, because when you go to school to learn, that's not enough.
- 5:18Speaker 1: What are you learning?
- 5:20Speaker 1: You learn how to learn the curriculum, the people, the program, the people, because your experience inevitably leads to a state of mind.
- 5:35Speaker 1: So what happened?
- 5:36Speaker 1: Did it happen in the home?
- 5:37Speaker 1: Did it happen in school?
- 5:38Speaker 1: Did it happen in the neighborhood or did it happen much later in the workplace?
- 5:43Speaker 1: The neighbor, or did it happen much later in the workplace?
- 5:46Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's right, the workplace can be in the now, because in my formulas or my kids' workshops.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Those are their workplaces.
- 5:52Speaker 1: When I work with a kid and the kid goes home, the home becomes the workplace, because what are they supposed to learn how to do?
- 6:01Speaker 1: Move through contact, feel that negative energy, balance it out with thought.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Okay, I'm aware I'm working with Dr Slade Live to help me understand management and control over my emotion.
- 6:17Speaker 1: So when I make this contact, I'm aware I'm supposed to practice, cooperate, moving through the contact, to interact, to fill my brain, sending information for a personality moving forward and my attitude.
- 6:33Speaker 1: The emotional effect of the experience is managed because now my character, what I believe I look like when I'm under control and focused, is the balancer.
- 6:48Speaker 1: So what am I saying to you?
- 6:50Speaker 1: I'm saying to you that humanism, science is what I work through and what I talk through to get you to understand the brain's body.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Because what are we talking about?
- 6:59Speaker 1: Brain, body, sense, messaging.
- 7:02Speaker 1: So listen, I feel like a brain talker.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Do you feel like a brain listener?
- 7:07Speaker 1: Because this is brain talk.
- 7:09Speaker 1: And so what I'm saying to you is my sense of feel for both my brain, body forms, the understanding of myself.
- 7:19Speaker 1: So when you work with me, it's all about self-actionization, because your power is in awareness, becoming more aware.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Now, listen, we do this very instructively.
- 7:32Speaker 1: One, you inform the brain, you instruct the body, you focus the senses.
- 7:40Speaker 1: But why?
- 7:41Speaker 1: Because you have to be motivated by the things that you do that elevate you from the inside out in terms of becoming aware.
- 7:49Speaker 1: You're doing this work successfully, and so you look at the body to confirm and verify that the information you're sending forward in brain talk is logically becoming more social through the actions of the body, and so that feedback loop that comes back to you, other people are saying, wow, she or he is really beginning to evolve, change and become more than I thought they were just yesterday, because there's something different about them.
- 8:28Speaker 1: No, your brain is on and your brain is in the lead of the body because you understand that your brain, through your sense of feel for self, the process variable, leads you to comprehend what it feels like to focus, what it feels like to manage the way you inform self, instruct the body and motivate the senses.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you see, because it's very, very difficult for you to focus, you have to be motivated to do it.
- 9:01Speaker 1: So focus is a key word, but motivate is a process loop, because what you want to do is you want to sense the contact, you want to interact through feelings of self, because you want to know that you're alive and that the things you do matter.
- 9:23Speaker 1: So here comes the body under your control, and the body is doing these things reading, writing, talking, experimenting and you're right there, observing, listening, learning, helping, trying to lead yourself through these experiences.
- 9:43Speaker 1: This is brain talk, forward, backward feet, pick up the book.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Pick up the book.
- 9:48Speaker 1: It is about how do you feel when your brain's in the lead of your body, because it's not just a behavior that we're talking about.
- 9:58Speaker 1: It is action, learning that changes the way you feel self, other people and the environment.
- 10:07Speaker 1: So it's an ecosystem that you have to learn how to evolve through.
- 10:13Speaker 1: That's reality-based.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Listen now homeschool, neighborhood and network.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Those are the environments, other people, those are also things that we're talking about when you're in crisis.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It's the home, school, neighborhood, other people you have to move through to ameliorate, to reduce what happened from influencing your received past functions.
- 10:36Speaker 1: So you're always becoming more transformed as a thinker because you're learning how to process the contact, the interaction, one, two, three, receive, process, respond, stop.
- 10:51Speaker 1: That's brain on Receive, organize, express, express what Feelings, energy, action, feelings.
- 10:58Speaker 1: But why?
- 10:59Speaker 1: Because you want to learn how to practice living, learning, thinking and responding to self, other people and those environments.
- 11:10Speaker 1: And what do you get out of that?
- 11:12Speaker 1: You learn how to own a home.
- 11:15Speaker 1: You learn how to lead to the development of a school, because you have a family and you must direct your family through any level of schooling they have access to, with you in the lead.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Understanding is the contact in the home that leads to improved interaction in the school.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I must teach my child how to move through contact to make it easier for them to interact in demanding environments such as school and workplace.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Easier for them to interact in demanding environments such as school and workplace.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Now, if I keep that in mind, then when I'm reflecting through a state of mind, my brain knows through awareness this is the goal to be more comfortable.
- 12:00Speaker 1: So when you don't feel comfortable, your alarm goes off.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Because this is what we're talking about.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Self-actualization is how do I function?
- 12:09Speaker 1: How do I function at the highest levels possible for me to be effective at recovering from what happened?
- 12:20Speaker 1: Now we get to what's happened because we're studying the home, the school, the neighborhood, the workplace and people.
- 12:26Speaker 1: So you don't run from this practice.
- 12:29Speaker 1: You want to slowly, methodically, learn how to learn with Dr Slade and Lyon, because in the process loop, you're going to come to terms with what happened, the emotion, thought, reflection.
- 12:42Speaker 1: That's what you're working with, but your ground is an understanding that reflection is a process loop, because you reflect on the front from the experience.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Okay, that's sense, contact, reflection built in, emotion built in.
- 12:58Speaker 1: But when you move it through the transformative sense of feel for self now, the brain takes hold and it produces thought, reflection and emotion, forward feed, forward thinking, you see.
- 13:16Speaker 1: And so what I'm talking about is self-recovery in the sense of self-leadership, because when you put those two together, along with sense and received path research, which is what the literature guides you through, then you begin to understand.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I can go out here and I can fight for myself.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I don't need anybody else to push my button.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I'm self-motivated because I understand these challenges that are confronting me.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I understand what happened.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Now I'm learning how to stand back up on my own two feet because there is no cavalry coming.
- 13:53Speaker 1: You're it.
- 13:54Speaker 1: You wait on the sociologist or the psychologist or the whoever, and they come and they don't give you what you need, because you need more than another program.
- 14:04Speaker 1: You need a processor, something that you can evolve through the hurt, pain and sadness and evolve into a new level.
- 14:13Speaker 1: That's in your pocket.
- 14:14Speaker 1: You still feel it, but life goes on and you're building new energy, action and feelings because you're moving beyond the pain, hurt and sadness of yesterday and you're dealing with the now and now.
- 14:28Speaker 1: You have an appropriate defense mechanism because that state of mind is flexible, because you know you have to change and adapt, to move through the crisis of self.
- 14:39Speaker 1: You have to cooperate, you have to compromise so that your sensory seed path functions are fluid.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So, whatever happens to you moving forward, you don't get stuck, you don't get caught up.
- 14:51Speaker 1: You move through it, manage it, control it.
- 14:54Speaker 1: We're talking about the brain, the body and get through it because, intellectually, your senses are on and how can you be defeated when you are focused?
- 15:05Speaker 1: When you are focused and I'm talking about just naturally, authentically focused because of the experience of self you realize it.
- 15:14Speaker 1: It cannot happen again.
- 15:16Speaker 1: No, it can't happen again because my brain is on and I'm working with my sense of feel for self to understand my body, when it's just more reactive than it is responsive to my needs as a human learning system.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Just said it again.
- 15:40Speaker 1: This has been Dr Slade Lyon Brief.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Now, look, I'm telling you right now your brain is the lead social organ.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Have you ever wondered why it is important to understand how contact influences the way you interact?
- 15:53Speaker 1: That's what I'm talking about.
- 15:55Speaker 1: In the human system, science, the interaction between your brain, body and senses is the key.
- 16:01Speaker 1: This is why we're having this conversation brain talk.
- 16:05Speaker 1: This is why we're talking about brain talk, not your inner voice, not your self-talk per se.
- 16:11Speaker 1: We're talking about the next level.
- 16:12Speaker 1: The next level is when you become more aware that the brain is in the body through your sense of feel for self.
- 16:19Speaker 1: You can feel it, and now you're in a process loop.
- 16:23Speaker 1: So when you sense self is involved in a transformation to the brain.
- 16:30Speaker 1: See, because you're aware that this interaction has to be processed through your levels of becoming more and more informed, which allows you to understand why you must be disciplined and why you must be focused.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Brain, body, senses this is what we're talking about at the Brain's Body Podcast.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Stay tuned, I'll be back.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Stay tuned, Subscribe.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Be back shortly.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Thank you, brain's Body.
