- 1:57Speaker 2: Baller. What's up?
- 1:58Speaker 1: We'll clip it up for the radio. How's it going, Mr. Duvall?
- 2:03Speaker 2: Hey, man.
- 2:03Speaker 7: I'm blessed as usual. You know, ain't nothing changed.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Blessed and highly favored in my show. No matter how many.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Times I come up here, it's going to be the
- 2:08Speaker 2: same tune.
- 2:10Speaker 4: For sure. Ms.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Dutchess, how you doing?
- 2:12Speaker 4: I can't complain.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Did good in that movie. Now, you play yourself.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Basically.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Because your name Erica. Yeah.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And in the movie, you're Erica.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yep.
- 2:21Speaker 3: When I was watching the movie, I said, what's my
- 2:23Speaker 3: name in the movie?
- 2:25Speaker 2: I said, damn, it's Erica.
- 2:27Speaker 4: That was the whole idea.
- 2:28Speaker 5: I said, damn, it's me.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah, the cast, it says Erica.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Your name is Erica.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it's based off a true story.
- 2:35Speaker 6: Now, fellow comedians are in the movie.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Jay Ski, Moneybag Mafia, Gnard Rose.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Nav was in there.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Tag. To Alec Cronin. To Alec Cronin.
- 2:46Speaker 1: My girl, Brittany.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Brittany, yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 7: And now that they're in there, you know how you
- 2:51Speaker 7: see people just in there just use the names? The
- 2:54Speaker 7: movie is actually funny, and they actually all killing it too.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Literally. They all killing it. Nah, for real. They
- 2:59Speaker 2: didn't die.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Literally.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Nobody died.
- 3:01Speaker 7: Ain't nobody died.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Ain't nobody died today. Ain't nobody died.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Watch the movie.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Don't do your face like that, bro. Watch the movie.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Stop giving it away, man.
- 3:07Speaker 4: I'm not. I'm not.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Now, who is this person?
- 3:09Speaker 2: Oh, that's one of the good guys. Okay. See, I
- 3:14Speaker 2: don't want to give.
- 3:17Speaker 7: That was when he was young and had hair. I
- 3:20Speaker 7: don't want to give it away, but like I said,
- 3:23Speaker 7: I'm trying to push this movie by showing how good
- 3:26Speaker 7: it is. Because everybody's putting out movies now saying they
- 3:29Speaker 7: got to move it and go support it because of
- 3:32Speaker 7: who it is.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I want you to support it because it's good.
- 3:34Speaker 7: And after that, then you support it because you trust
- 3:37Speaker 7: my judgment because I've never let y'all down.
- 3:39Speaker 2: In 27 years.
- 3:41Speaker 6: I know that's right.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Now, is it at your camp, Duval?
- 3:44Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm on my Tyler Perry's camp.
- 3:46Speaker 1: So you saved some money a little bit right here.
- 3:48Speaker 2: No, we didn't save no money. I got people here
- 3:51Speaker 2: who paid, so we didn't save no money.
- 3:52Speaker 3: We didn't save.
- 3:54Speaker 7: No, no, we did.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Yeah, we got paid for them movies.
- 3:57Speaker 4: I know that.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Thank you, God.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 4:00Speaker 7: But no, like I said, I mean, we did this,
- 4:02Speaker 7: like I'm trying to take a book out of, take
- 4:05Speaker 7: a page out of Tyler Perry's book.
- 4:06Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Build My Home.
- 4:08Speaker 7: Build my own ecosystem where everybody, because we don't have
- 4:11Speaker 7: that many things for everybody, many platforms for actors and
- 4:17Speaker 7: entertainers and everything, and that's what Camp Duval built off,
- 4:20Speaker 7: and not just movies, but I do like the waterfall
- 4:23Speaker 7: thing for the entertainers.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I mean for the artists, you know what I'm saying?
- 4:26Speaker 1: Music artists. Johnny Damn D.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:30Speaker 7: And then too, that's what the movie kind of about,
- 4:32Speaker 7: where creators and entertainers and comedians, they can come out
- 4:36Speaker 7: there and create and stuff, and And we just built
- 4:39Speaker 7: off that. And it's kind of like all built into one,
- 4:41Speaker 7: built off of who I am and my brand. And
- 4:45Speaker 7: that's why it's kind of organically easy to flow into
- 4:48Speaker 7: the audience because they kind of already got an idea
- 4:50Speaker 7: of what.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I got going on.
- 4:52Speaker 3: How does it feel?
- 4:53Speaker 8: Because, you know, even you describing 27 years in the game,
- 4:56Speaker 8: I'm sure this is something that, you know, early on
- 4:59Speaker 8: Duvall manifested and wanted to be able to put people
- 5:01Speaker 8: in position to do it. So now that you're kind
- 5:03Speaker 8: of at the place to where it's manifesting, like, how
- 5:06Speaker 8: do you feel spiritually?
- 5:08Speaker 7: It feels like I'm doing everything that I had in
- 5:11Speaker 7: my mind. You know how they say, God said, you
- 5:14Speaker 7: take the first step, you take the second, third. I
- 5:16Speaker 7: didn't know exactly what it was, but I kind of
- 5:18Speaker 7: knew it all had to do with other people.
- 5:20Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 5:20Speaker 7: They're helping other people, and it just flowed. He's just
- 5:24Speaker 7: using me to go to everybody else.
- 5:26Speaker 8: How does it feel for you? Because you guys have
- 5:28Speaker 8: a longstanding relationship, and you've been working with him to
- 5:31Speaker 8: be able to come into a camaraderie where you're both
- 5:34Speaker 8: fulfilled in this.
- 5:36Speaker 2: It feels good.
- 5:36Speaker 3: I really kind of just explaining the way just feeling inside.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Just to be with somebody who really.
- 5:42Speaker 5: Care about you, give a fuck about you, because a lot.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Of folk don't care about you. A lot of folk
- 5:45Speaker 3: don't care.
- 5:46Speaker 5: And you're putting me in position. Everybody trying to fuck me.
- 5:49Speaker 5: I mean, he got me.
- 5:52Speaker 2: And we didn't fuck. We didn't fuck. We all tried
- 5:54Speaker 2: to fuck.
- 5:54Speaker 3: We could be in the same room. I'm sleeping in
- 5:58Speaker 3: the living.
- 5:58Speaker 7: Room, she's sleeping in the bathroom.
- 6:01Speaker 5: You know how folk be thinking so, because you be
- 6:04Speaker 5: like the only female.
- 6:05Speaker 3: And you be the girl. But these niggas don't be
- 6:07Speaker 3: stopping me.
- 6:07Speaker 5: And I'm really talented, so I don't got to say
- 6:09Speaker 5: no deep for no joke.
- 6:12Speaker 3: I love that. I'm blessed, man.
- 6:15Speaker 5: I thank God for the people that I'm around. Jack Duvall,
- 6:18Speaker 5: even Eric and Keith, my other comedy brothers, and everybody's
- 6:25Speaker 5: just family.
- 6:26Speaker 3: And it's love.
- 6:26Speaker 7: And I try to set the example for what I
- 6:29Speaker 7: do with my people for everybody else to do it
- 6:31Speaker 7: with their people, you know what I'm saying? Because it
- 6:33Speaker 7: might make other people that have people under them be like, well,
- 6:36Speaker 7: let me do something for them. Yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? So it's kind of like
- 6:39Speaker 2: a cause and effect thing.
- 6:40Speaker 7: Kind of like if you had to get gas, I mean,
- 6:42Speaker 7: at the gas station or the drive-in and you pay
- 6:44Speaker 7: for this food for the people behind you.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:46Speaker 7: That makes them say, I'm going to do that too.
- 6:47Speaker 7: So it's kind of like what I'm trying to do
- 6:49Speaker 7: for our whole community.
- 6:51Speaker 10: You know what I'm saying?
- 6:52Speaker 8: Yeah, like reaching back and pulling forward.
- 6:53Speaker 4: That's what's up.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Kind of like a baller.
- 6:56Speaker 7: It builds this thing here for y'all and everything else.
- 6:58Speaker 7: So we all doing it.
- 7:00Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 7:01Speaker 2: I think everything is happening together.
- 7:02Speaker 7: We just wanted it to happen fast as a community,
- 7:04Speaker 7: but I think we all are doing it with just
- 7:06Speaker 7: little steps like this.
- 7:07Speaker 6: Now, how important is good relationships and being connected to
- 7:11Speaker 6: this guy, Lil Duval?
- 7:13Speaker 11: I would say relationships are everything. I go back with
- 7:15Speaker 11: his old manager, Clay, since Raskats.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Lonely Clay, man. Lonely Clay. That's my big dog.
- 7:21Speaker 11: Since he used to come to L.A. back in the early,
- 7:23Speaker 11: let's say, 90s when I was just getting out of
- 7:25Speaker 11: high school. He was coming out of the service, and
- 7:28Speaker 11: I've been with my business partner now 20 years. So
- 7:30Speaker 11: that relationship... led to the next relationship.
- 7:33Speaker 4: It is. The relationships are everything.
- 7:35Speaker 2: It's important.
- 7:36Speaker 10: And I think with this movie in particular, what we
- 7:39Speaker 10: try to do is the moments that we see Erika
- 7:42Speaker 10: Duvall and Jay Ski between shows in the back rooms
- 7:47Speaker 10: that we want more of, right? So we tried to
- 7:49Speaker 10: put that in this script so you could get more
- 7:52Speaker 10: of how they organically interact, which is why they are themselves.
- 7:56Speaker 10: And then like a money bag plays a character, T-Bone, right?
- 7:59Speaker 10: So there are some scripted moments in there all around that,
- 8:02Speaker 10: but ultimately we wanted to just see more of them
- 8:05Speaker 10: together and get that chemistry.
- 8:07Speaker 6: So much I want to say because I watched, but
- 8:10Speaker 6: I can't say because it'll be a spoiler.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Congrats on your Rich Broke chain.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Talk about it. Got my chain on the plane.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Now, Ms.
- 8:23Speaker 6: Duvall, you're a very well-versed man. I feel like you
- 8:27Speaker 6: really don't really... Go off of.
- 8:31Speaker 1: The trends or anything like that. You be in your
- 8:33Speaker 1: own little world.
- 8:34Speaker 4: You got to create them. Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 1: You got to create them.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Yeah. Same thing with this.
- 8:38Speaker 7: We creating the blueprint for other people to follow instead
- 8:40Speaker 7: of just, because people think just because you own like
- 8:43Speaker 7: a network or something that looks like, it looks good,
- 8:46Speaker 7: but at the end of the day, we trying to
- 8:49Speaker 7: make money for everybody. So everybody can, not just me, her.
- 8:52Speaker 7: But even like the workers, I mean like the crew
- 8:55Speaker 7: and everybody.
- 8:55Speaker 4: Everybody's tied to the success of the movie.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody's tied to the success of it.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Everybody got paid to be there, but they also have
- 9:01Speaker 4: back end.
- 9:01Speaker 7: And the more we make, the more movies we make,
- 9:03Speaker 7: the more everybody else make. You know what I'm saying?
- 9:06Speaker 4: So is this the beginning?
- 9:06Speaker 2: There's going to be more things shot? Yeah, I'm trying
- 9:08Speaker 2: to put out a thousand of these things. You know
- 9:10Speaker 2: what I'm saying?
- 9:10Speaker 1: Now, do you live at Camp Duval?
- 9:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I live at all my spots. You know what
- 9:14Speaker 2: I'm saying?
- 9:16Speaker 1: Like it's a residence area and then, you know.
- 9:18Speaker 2: It's everything. You know what I'm saying? Oh, at Camp Duval, yeah,
- 9:20Speaker 2: we got rooms and all that stuff there.
- 9:22Speaker 7: But for the most, it's for fellowship for everybody, my
- 9:25Speaker 7: friends and family and people I fuck with.
- 9:27Speaker 3: And EJ built me a gun range.
- 9:31Speaker 7: We got a shooting range out there, you know what
- 9:33Speaker 7: I'm saying?
- 9:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:37Speaker 6: So in the movie, you talk about Camp Duval being
- 9:41Speaker 6: a retreat for comedians. Is this the real theme of
- 9:44Speaker 6: Camp Duval?
- 9:45Speaker 2: Yeah, that's kind of like the idea of why I
- 9:49Speaker 2: bought the place.
- 9:49Speaker 7: It's like a place where everybody can come and you
- 9:52Speaker 7: can create. You know what I'm saying? That's what all
- 9:53Speaker 7: comedians do. We bounce off each other and create. And
- 9:56Speaker 7: the same thing with content creators and influencers. They do
- 9:58Speaker 7: the same thing.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Never seen that.
- 10:00Speaker 7: Because when you come there, it's like when you come there,
- 10:03Speaker 7: you will feel it. You feel like you can reflect,
- 10:06Speaker 7: you can open your mind up. It's a place to
- 10:09Speaker 7: be at peace. It's just the place, the vibe is there.
- 10:13Speaker 7: Most of the stuff I do, you have to come
- 10:14Speaker 7: and see it instead of talking about it.
- 10:16Speaker 3: It's like, feel it.
- 10:17Speaker 8: It's the energy.
- 10:18Speaker 6: So what you're saying is Ball Alert can come broadcast
- 10:20Speaker 6: live at Camp Duval.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely. We should have shot this at Camp Duval
- 10:24Speaker 2: for real.
- 10:24Speaker 4: We damn sure should have.
- 10:25Speaker 1: We damn sure should have.
- 10:26Speaker 2: We appreciate it for real. Yeah, yeah. Okay, cool. No,
- 10:29Speaker 2: it is.
- 10:29Speaker 4: It's a full ecosystem.
- 10:31Speaker 8: How did your experience in 2022, because you went from
- 10:35Speaker 8: living your best life to going through something where you
- 10:37Speaker 8: could have lost your life, right? Like, how did that
- 10:40Speaker 8: transform and kind of, like, motivate your experience as you
- 10:44Speaker 8: do things like setting up can do vault and create
- 10:47Speaker 8: your network and your conglomerate of just like i just
- 10:49Speaker 8: only say that too because you talk about peace and
- 10:52Speaker 8: thinking and reflection and those are all themes of something
- 10:55Speaker 8: when you're recovering so like how did that inspire.
- 10:58Speaker 7: You i think the accident was a test on my
- 11:00Speaker 7: see if i was really about all that i was
- 11:02Speaker 7: talking you know.
- 11:03Speaker 5: What i'm saying because when it happened i was like
- 11:06Speaker 5: dang god you're making me do this all right You
- 11:08Speaker 5: know what I'm saying?
- 11:09Speaker 2: And I knew I was going to come out of it,
- 11:10Speaker 2: just how my mind is set up.
- 11:12Speaker 7: Because people always say that the chain would make me stronger,
- 11:15Speaker 7: but I think if I wasn't strong before that, I
- 11:17Speaker 7: wouldn't have been able to go through it. Because right now,
- 11:19Speaker 7: I got all this side metal, but I don't feel it.
- 11:21Speaker 2: It don't bother me. Because I had the willpower, I
- 11:24Speaker 2: had prayer, God, and I had the doctors too.
- 11:28Speaker 8: You know what I'm saying?
- 11:29Speaker 2: So all that in the plan.
- 11:30Speaker 7: There's people that was hurt before me still haven't recovered
- 11:35Speaker 7: yet and still take pills.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I don't take no pills. I don't do nothing.
- 11:38Speaker 7: I don't think I smoke. But outside of that, I
- 11:41Speaker 7: don't even know how to swallow pills. So I'm a
- 11:44Speaker 7: living testament on if you got the mind.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Right, you'll be good.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:48Speaker 8: So how did living your best life before and after,
- 11:52Speaker 8: how did that change for you?
- 11:53Speaker 3: How you define it?
- 11:54Speaker 2: It didn't change.
- 11:55Speaker 7: It just was like one of those testaments that I
- 11:57Speaker 7: can tell this story right now to y'all.
- 11:58Speaker 8: I know that.
- 11:59Speaker 4: We gonna get some more music?
- 12:00Speaker 6: I know you always record.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I always make music. My music go with my lifestyle.
- 12:04Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 12:04Speaker 7: It's Brandon or who I am, so. It's just the
- 12:07Speaker 7: soundtrack of my life. Like, right now we got Lil
- 12:09Speaker 7: Booty's Matter.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:10Speaker 2: That's my song.
- 12:11Speaker 3: We all side.
- 12:13Speaker 2: We're shouting out all the Lil Booty's, you know what
- 12:16Speaker 2: I'm saying?
- 12:17Speaker 7: All my stuff is vibes, it's a soundtrack of what
- 12:19Speaker 7: I do, you know what I'm saying? So when I
- 12:21Speaker 7: put out music, I call it ecosystem music. I put
- 12:24Speaker 7: out music that I think good for the ecosystem. Same
- 12:26Speaker 7: thing with movies, same thing with social media, everything. I'm
- 12:28Speaker 7: like the ecosystem for what all we need.
- 12:31Speaker 6: Now, real quick, what's your Jaguars going to.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Do this year, man?
- 12:35Speaker 7: Shit.
- 12:36Speaker 2: We up. We up.
- 12:36Speaker 7: I mean, don't go by... I wish you would have
- 12:38Speaker 7: asked me before we lost this one.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Y'all can't talk some shit.
- 12:41Speaker 2: I mean, y'all one and one, though.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Y'all one and one. By the time this come out,
- 12:46Speaker 1: you know.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Mike got something going on.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Y'all look good, though. That's fair.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Y'all look good.
- 12:51Speaker 1: This nigga was going so good, and he just.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Through my whole vibe off of that. You got to.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Do look good, though.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Yeah, but we got a movie coming out called Camp Duval.
- 13:05Speaker 1: There you go. We in the AMC theaters.
- 13:10Speaker 2: AMC theaters. Explain or tell them all the information.
- 13:13Speaker 10: AMC theaters starting Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Here in Atlanta, we
- 13:18Speaker 10: are Camp Creek, Parkway Point, Phipps, Southlake, Sugarloaf.
- 13:23Speaker 6: Shout out to Phipps.
- 13:25Speaker 4: Okay.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Right there.
- 13:27Speaker 4: They actually picked us too.
- 13:28Speaker 10: How that worked is we submit the movie, and then
- 13:30Speaker 10: the theaters pick it up, basically.
- 13:32Speaker 4: That's what's up.
- 13:32Speaker 3: I don't think people know how big that is. That's
- 13:35Speaker 3: a big deal. That's a big deal.
- 13:37Speaker 7: A big deal.
- 13:37Speaker 5: I'm going to be like, when you come in and
- 13:39Speaker 5: move there, I'm going to be right there in that
- 13:40Speaker 5: little picture thing.
- 13:41Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Like, they're going to be me. On the screen. You
- 13:43Speaker 3: can buy a ticket.
- 13:45Speaker 5: I mean, nothing is not Netflix, Tube, and then like that.
- 13:48Speaker 3: But I'm going to be in the AMC. I'm going
- 13:49Speaker 3: to be in the whole movie theater.
- 13:50Speaker 2: That's what's interesting.
- 13:51Speaker 4: It was interesting.
- 13:52Speaker 10: AMC announced the independent initiative after.
- 13:55Speaker 4: We were already picked up. That's a big deal, too.
- 13:57Speaker 4: But it's real.
- 13:58Speaker 3: So I just thank you enough. I know you don't
- 14:01Speaker 3: like when I do that, but thank you again.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Jeff, for this opportunity, man. You thank me through your actions, baby. Yeah.
- 14:06Speaker 2: That job is a blessing, man.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Hold on.
- 14:09Speaker 1: You call that?
- 14:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:11Speaker 3: I like it.
- 14:12Speaker 5: I like that.
- 14:13Speaker 3: It's a blessing. I don't even know what else to say.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Now, Dutchie, you've been doing your thing, too, though.
- 14:19Speaker 6: We got to give you your flowers because you've been
- 14:21Speaker 6: doing your thing. Your appearances, your gig. I've been hearing
- 14:24Speaker 6: you on the radio.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I've been seeing you doing your thing. Is that intentional?
- 14:28Speaker 4: The radio part?
- 14:29Speaker 3: The radio part.
- 14:30Speaker 1: You like that?
- 14:30Speaker 2: Because you sound good.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:32Speaker 1: See.
- 14:33Speaker 2: He sounded like he.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Was trying to hire you.
- 14:36Speaker 7: No.
- 14:36Speaker 3: See, I was just doing it.
- 14:37Speaker 5: But then when I was just doing it one time,
- 14:39Speaker 5: they had asked me to do it with my people
- 14:41Speaker 5: over there.
- 14:42Speaker 3: And they asked me to do it for them.
- 14:43Speaker 2: And I did. And I liked it.
- 14:45Speaker 3: And everybody liked it because they needed the Atlanta sound.
- 14:47Speaker 3: That's why I said Atlanta.
- 14:48Speaker 2: What's up?
- 14:49Speaker 3: Radio stations be saying they from Atlanta.
- 14:51Speaker 4: They're not.
- 14:52Speaker 3: And they're not from the A.
- 14:54Speaker 5: So they wanted that sound, that ATL vibe and talk.
- 14:58Speaker 3: And I talk like that for real. I can't hide it.
- 15:01Speaker 2: I heard.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I was driving.
- 15:02Speaker 2: I was off. I was off.
- 15:04Speaker 6: And I heard someone doing, I think you were talking
- 15:07Speaker 6: about traffic?
- 15:08Speaker 2: The news.
- 15:08Speaker 4: I do the ATL news.
- 15:10Speaker 2: The ATL news. I was like, that sound like Dasha.
- 15:12Speaker 2: She sound hood, but ATL.
- 15:14Speaker 1: It was hood, but sophisticated.
- 15:15Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:16Speaker 2: And I kept saying, this sound like Dasha.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Then you said your name at the end. I said, okay.
- 15:21Speaker 2: She over there permanently. We're going to sidebar.
- 15:23Speaker 1: After this interview. You're so crazy.
- 15:25Speaker 2: But yeah, I like it.
- 15:25Speaker 5: Because it gives me creativity, too. It keeps me, because
- 15:28Speaker 5: we work on the weekend. So during the week, I
- 15:31Speaker 5: always try to find me something to do. Like a
- 15:33Speaker 5: show in the city.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Or just something.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Oh, so you mean you come do my show with
- 15:36Speaker 1: me then?
- 15:37Speaker 5: I mean, yeah.
- 15:40Speaker 2: She hustled out without me too. You know what I'm saying?
- 15:42Speaker 2: That's how you're supposed to do it.
- 15:44Speaker 7: I can set you up and you keep it running.
- 15:46Speaker 7: That's what she do. She keep it running. And she
- 15:48Speaker 7: create her own paths. That's the type of people I
- 15:52Speaker 7: like around me.
- 15:53Speaker 8: I remember watching you since you was doing stand-up at
- 15:56Speaker 8: the little comedy club.
- 15:57Speaker 5: Man, with Clay.
- 15:58Speaker 3: And when he was doing what was that?
- 15:59Speaker 4: Monday or Tuesday.
- 16:00Speaker 8: Like a project.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:02Speaker 8: I'm telling you, I used to come over. That was
- 16:03Speaker 8: my first exposure to you ever. But I remember it
- 16:06Speaker 8: was one night you had announced your first, like, big tour.
- 16:10Speaker 8: So to see you now, it's like I'm very, yeah.
- 16:13Speaker 8: I'm very proud of you because it's like the due
- 16:16Speaker 8: diligence that you showed there, the consistency you showed there,
- 16:19Speaker 8: you can see it's paying off. And the one thing
- 16:21Speaker 8: I think that has always set you apart is you're
- 16:23Speaker 8: organically yourself. You can tell it in your heart, in
- 16:26Speaker 8: your wordplay, just the way you come out. Even when
- 16:29Speaker 8: you jolting on a person, you still make them feel good.
- 16:32Speaker 8: And I think that that's a rare quality in the skill.
- 16:34Speaker 8: So definitely overly proud of you for real.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Talk about it you.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Talk the script And as I was watching, I'm over here.
- 17:06Speaker 6: Was all of this part of the script? Or did
- 17:08Speaker 6: you guys improv something?
- 17:10Speaker 4: Yeah, there's definitely some lines between the lines.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Okay.
- 17:13Speaker 4: Lines after the lines and some lines before the lines.
- 17:15Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 17:16Speaker 6: Erica was popping it a few times. I'm over here like,
- 17:19Speaker 6: this sound real ATL-ish.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I don't know if.
- 17:22Speaker 4: It's in the script. It's a blueprint, right? Just some guidelines.
- 17:26Speaker 4: And then they make the roles.
- 17:27Speaker 7: That's what made stuff like Fry did classic. They had
- 17:31Speaker 7: a script and then you put the comedians and let
- 17:33Speaker 7: them do their thing. I think that was a lost
- 17:35Speaker 7: art in a lot of the movies lately, the last 10,
- 17:38Speaker 7: 15 years. So we can be one of the people
- 17:40Speaker 7: that spark and bring it back.
- 17:41Speaker 5: I'm not just saying it because I'm in the movie
- 17:45Speaker 5: or nothing like that.
- 17:46Speaker 3: I'm a big movie star.
- 17:48Speaker 5: I'm not just saying that. But I'm saying this is
- 17:51Speaker 5: like the best movie I don't seen. Like, in this
- 17:54Speaker 5: whole two years.
- 17:56Speaker 7: I think you're going to be impressed with the movie.
- 17:58Speaker 7: Without shooting down anybody else's movie.
- 18:00Speaker 5: I ain't shooting down, but I'm just saying this is
- 18:02Speaker 5: going to be, our movie is going to be the
- 18:03Speaker 5: best movie you'll see.
- 18:05Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 18:05Speaker 3: I just think.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I'd say the first five minutes of it was hilarious.
- 18:10Speaker 2: All right. Got you.
- 18:11Speaker 4: I was like, wait.
- 18:13Speaker 2: And it's shot good. Even when I was looking, I
- 18:14Speaker 2: was like, damn, this is my house.
- 18:16Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 18:18Speaker 4: Just like, damn, this is hard.
- 18:20Speaker 1: You look like some real paramount.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Can I talk about the movie?
- 18:23Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:24Speaker 1: So that was your pool?
- 18:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that was my pool, too.
- 18:27Speaker 7: And I was going to clean it, but then I
- 18:30Speaker 7: was like, I wanted to keep it how I bought it.
- 18:33Speaker 2: That's how I look when I bought it.
- 18:33Speaker 6: Now let's see what I'm talking about.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that's how I look when I bought it.
- 18:36Speaker 5: Really?
- 18:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:38Speaker 2: So I kept it like that. Then after that, I
- 18:39Speaker 2: got it clean. It's amazing.
- 18:41Speaker 1: So this person don't have a name.
- 18:43Speaker 2: No.
- 18:44Speaker 10: No, but you know what's interesting is Duval, we own this.
- 18:47Speaker 10: We own the name, image, likeness of this character and
- 18:51Speaker 10: the mask. And that was the other thing. It's just
- 18:54Speaker 10: intentional for all of us to just get the business
- 18:56Speaker 10: right of the movie, too, from everything in it.
- 18:58Speaker 2: That's hard.
- 18:59Speaker 7: We just need to understand our culture, to understand the business.
- 19:02Speaker 7: We want to get the money and all that, but
- 19:03Speaker 7: I don't think we have a structure to follow, and
- 19:05Speaker 7: I think we're a good blueprint of it.
- 19:07Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? So, like I said, it
- 19:10Speaker 2: ain't just for us.
- 19:11Speaker 7: We're going to do what we do, but at the
- 19:12Speaker 7: same time, I hope that other people follow suit, just
- 19:16Speaker 7: like they did in social media and everything, because it
- 19:19Speaker 7: wasn't an avenue for stand-up comedians after that.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Now you don't.
- 19:23Speaker 7: You can have people like Drewski that don't have to
- 19:25Speaker 7: do stand-up and still be a multi-millionaire. So you're just
- 19:28Speaker 7: trying to create lanes like that.
- 19:30Speaker 8: What do you feel like was your guys' biggest lesson
- 19:33Speaker 8: learned throughout the duration of creating this movie?
- 19:36Speaker 7: For me, I was just, I felt like it wasn't
- 19:40Speaker 7: a lesson learned. For me, it was more sort of
- 19:42Speaker 7: like affirmation, like, damn, this is what I did. Like
- 19:44Speaker 7: when I see everybody working and just see them doing,
- 19:48Speaker 7: it's like, dang, I'm like, one of them movie studio things,
- 19:53Speaker 7: you know, like Paramount or NBC. That's what we creating here.
- 19:56Speaker 7: And that's how they started, just how we did it.
- 19:58Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying? So that's with Camp Duval,
- 20:00Speaker 7: that's like our studio land. And we just shoot everything there.
- 20:05Speaker 7: We can shoot skits there and everything. And it grows
- 20:08Speaker 7: when my daughter... probably 50, and she looking at it.
- 20:12Speaker 2: It's NBC in this. You know what I'm saying? So
- 20:14Speaker 2: that's how I look at it.
- 20:15Speaker 4: We can do it.
- 20:16Speaker 10: We don't have to wait on anybody. We don't need
- 20:18Speaker 10: to ask anybody's permission. I mean, it can come from
- 20:21Speaker 10: an idea that started at like 4 and 5 a.m.
- 20:23Speaker 4: Conversations.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Yeah, this is us talking. And him aggravating to Kofi.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Oh, Lord.
- 20:26Speaker 6: Hey.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Yo.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Yo.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Yo.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Yo.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Y'all messed me up.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Y'all messed me up.
- 20:34Speaker 2: You jump, man.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I just watched it on my way here, and I
- 20:38Speaker 1: was like, yo. What's up?
- 20:42Speaker 3: What's up, killer? What's up?
- 20:44Speaker 4: So, yeah, I mean, that's the thing.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Did you handle it?
- 20:47Speaker 4: You handled the work out there? That's what's up.
- 20:50Speaker 2: But, yeah, man, God is good, though.
- 20:52Speaker 8: I was going to say, I think that that's the
- 20:54Speaker 8: biggest blessing to you.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Watch out, man.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I don't be liking that shit.
- 21:01Speaker 2: I ain't gonna care. I don't really fuck with scary movies.
- 21:04Speaker 4: I watch them.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Because of the duvall.
- 21:06Speaker 10: That's why we put the comedy in it.
- 21:08Speaker 6: I don't really be goddamn.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I don't like scary movies. But it's fun to shoot them, though.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it was different.
- 21:16Speaker 10: We had one analogy, and one that broke on the
- 21:19Speaker 10: internet that was funny. Somebody said it was like Friday
- 21:21Speaker 10: and Scream, which is true in.
- 21:23Speaker 4: A lot of ways. We didn't come up with that.
- 21:24Speaker 4: That was just somebody posting that.
- 21:26Speaker 3: To be honest, I was scared we were shooting this.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Shit, because we were shooting at night.
- 21:29Speaker 4: It was all night.
- 21:30Speaker 2: It was all night.
- 21:31Speaker 1: We were scared as hell.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Out there all night.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Yeah. It's peaceful in the daytime, but it's hell at night.
- 21:39Speaker 2: But it was still fun.
- 21:40Speaker 1: We still had fun.
- 21:42Speaker 5: Look, we was out there, and people talking about stuff
- 21:44Speaker 5: they don't heard and stuff like that, and they talking
- 21:47Speaker 5: about animals out there, some coyotes.
- 21:48Speaker 10: But you're not getting no wings at 3 a.m. on DoorDash.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Right, man.
- 21:53Speaker 8: Yeah, they're not driving.
- 21:54Speaker 4: They're not coming out there. You got to plan ahead
- 21:57Speaker 4: for that.
- 21:57Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 21:58Speaker 4: We out there.
- 21:59Speaker 8: That's amazing, though, because it's such a blessing when you
- 22:01Speaker 8: go from, like, dreaming about something to actually realizing your
- 22:05Speaker 8: own potential. Because, like, we all believe we can do stuff,
- 22:08Speaker 8: you know what I mean? But coming into it and
- 22:10Speaker 8: actually executing is a totally different thing.
- 22:12Speaker 7: But that's the key to it. Because I think if
- 22:14Speaker 7: people pay attention to me, like, he do everything he
- 22:16Speaker 7: say he going to do.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Facts.
- 22:17Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 22:18Speaker 4: And that's a character thing, though.
- 22:19Speaker 8: That's something to be respected.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Hopefully people learn that from me and they do whatever
- 22:23Speaker 2: they want to do. You know what I'm saying?
- 22:25Speaker 7: We like talking about it, but we never do it.
- 22:26Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? I think people like the
- 22:28Speaker 2: thought of doing stuff. Yeah. I don't like that. I'm
- 22:31Speaker 2: more of a doer. So hopefully you learn from that.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Not you, but people in general. No, for sure.
- 22:35Speaker 3: No, us too, though.
- 22:37Speaker 8: It's something to be learned. I think it's a beautiful
- 22:39Speaker 8: thing to be able to watch people manifest their own glory,
- 22:43Speaker 8: their own blessings, and kind of see them walk into it.
- 22:46Speaker 8: And then even being able to be blessed enough to
- 22:49Speaker 8: have the conversation after, man, like, damn, how did they
- 22:51Speaker 8: feel to do that?
- 22:52Speaker 2: It's inspiring.
- 22:53Speaker 7: Like I said, it was an idea in my head,
- 22:56Speaker 7: but then he had him calling. And see, he know me.
- 23:00Speaker 7: He aggravate the shit out of me. And then after
- 23:02Speaker 7: a while, he's like, you know what?
- 23:03Speaker 8: Might be on some.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:05Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 23:07Speaker 4: A lot, too.
- 23:07Speaker 7: A lot. When we were going to shoot the movie,
- 23:09Speaker 7: in my mind, I was thinking about shooting like Dolomite
- 23:11Speaker 7: on some Dolomite, like ghetto family stuff.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Let's make production a little better.
- 23:16Speaker 10: I was just like, no, let's do something different. Because
- 23:20Speaker 10: now people are seeing it. Like tonight, we're going to
- 23:21Speaker 10: screen it in Birmingham. We've done a couple of just
- 23:23Speaker 10: premiere screenings just so people can see. what it looks
- 23:26Speaker 10: like on a big screen, that it holds up.
- 23:29Speaker 2: It holds up. It ain't just something you just support
- 23:31Speaker 2: because it's football.
- 23:32Speaker 10: I mean, AMC wouldn't have taken it if it wouldn't
- 23:34Speaker 10: have looked a certain way and shot a certain way
- 23:37Speaker 10: because they just aren't taking every movie.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:39Speaker 10: So that's, I think, a testament to him also allowing
- 23:43Speaker 10: all of us to do our part in the journey, right? Like, just,
- 23:46Speaker 10: that was my part. Keith's part is to do that.
- 23:49Speaker 10: He did his part. Erica did her part. The cast
- 23:52Speaker 10: killed it, so that was really.
- 23:54Speaker 6: Thank you for continuing to push the comedy culture.
- 23:59Speaker 2: It's bigger than the comedy culture. It's all that culture.
- 24:02Speaker 7: I just use comedy as the one that y'all know
- 24:04Speaker 7: me as, but for the most part, my mindset is
- 24:06Speaker 7: bigger than all this shit.
- 24:07Speaker 3: It's deeper than comedy.
- 24:08Speaker 5: I like that.
- 24:09Speaker 2: We appreciate it, man. Thanks for bringing... The killer came
- 24:11Speaker 2: in the studio.
- 24:22Speaker 1: In theaters and select AMC theaters. That's going to be dope.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Of course, Baller, we coming to Camp Duval.
- 24:30Speaker 8: For sure.
- 24:30Speaker 7: Y'all got to come to the screening too when we're
- 24:33Speaker 7: in Atlanta.
- 24:34Speaker 10: So we come out on Apple, Amazon, Halloween. So we're
- 24:38Speaker 10: getting these screenings done and then we're coming out.
- 24:40Speaker 4: We can do the red carpet. We'll cover the red carpet.
- 24:42Speaker 4: We're doing that Thursday, October 29th.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Okay. Y'all got snacks.
- 24:45Speaker 4: What's that?
- 24:46Speaker 2: Y'all got snacks? Snacks.
- 24:47Speaker 1: I'm going to be there. I'm going to be there.
- 24:50Speaker 3: We got a double snack for her twins.
- 24:53Speaker 6: Double snacks.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Hello. Her boys too.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Any additional shout outs?
- 24:56Speaker 4: We definitely need the AMC theaters, right?
- 24:58Speaker 10: Like this is how people showing up and showing love
- 25:01Speaker 10: is how it gets done again and again and again.
