- 0:45Speaker 2: all right, Ladies and gentlemen, we.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Are here and.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Obstacles, all kinds of oles. It's cold out, extremely cold.
- 0:56Speaker 4: I almost feel like this this is getting starting to
- 0:58Speaker 4: get close in Minnesota weather. I might as well be
- 1:02Speaker 4: in Minnesota, man. And they're talking about more snow tomorrow.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Oh gosh, so much for winning a real winner.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yeah you got it.
- 1:11Speaker 4: And more than that, man, There's a couple of really
- 1:16Speaker 4: interesting kind of conversations that I think we're going to
- 1:22Speaker 4: explore today. And I think I think a Green Bay quarterback, right, yeah,
- 1:32Speaker 4: I think I think we start there, you know, and
- 1:34Speaker 4: we and and we'll go from there to the All
- 1:37Speaker 4: Star Games.
- 1:38Speaker 3: And all of that kind of stuff.
- 1:41Speaker 4: All I think you have the basis of the story,
- 1:44Speaker 4: So give us a little bit of background and we
- 1:47Speaker 4: will absolutely can't wait to dive into and listen probably
- 1:51Speaker 4: fill me in where I'm missing. So basically, Aaron Rodgers,
- 1:55Speaker 4: as you know, he's with the Jets, didn't have a
- 1:58Speaker 4: great season, was hurt us for you're there, so they've
- 2:01Speaker 4: released him and now he's on the block, so the
- 2:04Speaker 4: trading not the trading block, but now he's people are
- 2:07Speaker 4: trying to see if they want to acquire him or not.
- 2:09Speaker 4: And a lot of the talk has been like Pittsburgh
- 2:11Speaker 4: Stellers could be a landing home. Some people have mentioned
- 2:14Speaker 4: in Minnesota Vikings, which it kind of makes more sense
- 2:17Speaker 4: to me, but would you know.
- 2:19Speaker 3: I'm to saying it makes more sens.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Because you know, but you're indoors, right, so you get
- 2:26Speaker 4: familiar opponents. You're indoors for nine games because you play
- 2:29Speaker 4: the Detroit lines twice, so nine games indoors, so that
- 2:32Speaker 4: kind of makes more sense. But overall, I just don't
- 2:36Speaker 4: understand why anybody would want Aaron Rodgers at this point.
- 2:39Speaker 4: You're an agent quarterback. You definitely can't run. You're still
- 2:43Speaker 4: slanging it, but your arms not what it was. And
- 2:44Speaker 4: you come with all the problems and the things that
- 2:47Speaker 4: are Aaron Rodgers. So at what point do we just say, like, look,
- 2:51Speaker 4: thank you for your services, but we're gonna move in
- 2:55Speaker 4: a younger direction. And I'll say this, that guy in
- 3:00Speaker 4: the locker room, whether the locker room that he left
- 3:03Speaker 4: or the locker room that he goes into, the moment
- 3:06Speaker 4: that he tries to be for the football god right, Like,
- 3:14Speaker 4: I think what happens in that situation is players take
- 3:19Speaker 4: offense to it. They don't like him. And I can't
- 3:22Speaker 4: imagine the new age players who are making you know,
- 3:27Speaker 4: good money, Why would you want this dude that that
- 3:34Speaker 4: you already since is an issue. I mean, he's coming
- 3:37Speaker 4: in as an issue everywhere I think that he has
- 3:40Speaker 4: gone to. He goes in with an issue, and he
- 3:44Speaker 4: then in turn, he's going to create a division between
- 3:47Speaker 4: me and Hollis because Hollis is Ford.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I'm not for it.
- 3:50Speaker 4: I don't like him. Hollis likes him. You're thinking, well,
- 3:54Speaker 4: let's give him a chance.
- 3:56Speaker 3: You got and that tears up, tears up a locker room.
- 4:00Speaker 5: And and correct me if I'm mistaken, but didn't. Wasn't
- 4:04Speaker 5: he the reason the head coach of the Jets left
- 4:07Speaker 5: this past year?
- 4:09Speaker 3: I forget about that.
- 4:10Speaker 5: There's the writing on the wall, you know, the way
- 4:13Speaker 5: he left Green Bay. You know, he was a hero.
- 4:16Speaker 5: I'm a Packers fan, so I was. You know, I
- 4:18Speaker 5: was pro Aaron Rodgers all the way. But the last
- 4:21Speaker 5: year or two it was a complete It was drama,
- 4:24Speaker 5: it was a circus. It was just constant. He left
- 4:28Speaker 5: the team, you know, on the edge of is he
- 4:30Speaker 5: coming back? Is he not coming back? He played that
- 4:33Speaker 5: head game with with you know, the GM with with
- 4:35Speaker 5: the whole team, and then when he did leave for
- 4:38Speaker 5: the Jets. To be honest, most of the Packer you
- 4:41Speaker 5: know loyals were like good ridden because I mean it
- 4:45Speaker 5: was just a toxic. He had gotten to the point
- 4:47Speaker 5: where he was just so self absorbed that he wasn't
- 4:50Speaker 5: a team player anymore.
- 4:51Speaker 6: It was all about Aaron.
- 4:53Speaker 3: That's where he is now.
- 4:54Speaker 4: And I just wondered, like, again, if I am a
- 4:57Speaker 4: team considering bringing Aaron Rodgers in, am I not also
- 5:02Speaker 4: considering how the position of quarterback has now changed.
- 5:05Speaker 3: When we look at the.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Top four quarterbacks when we look at and I'm going
- 5:09Speaker 4: by the guys who got the furthest I'm going Lamar Jackson,
- 5:12Speaker 4: Allen Mahomes of Jalen Hurts. These are mobile quarterbacks who
- 5:17Speaker 4: will have the ability to dial up design run plays,
- 5:21Speaker 4: can throw it are for the most part, these guys
- 5:24Speaker 4: aren't ego guys neither, which is surprising.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Right, these guys are ego guys.
- 5:28Speaker 4: These guys are team guys at least you know, public facing, right.
- 5:33Speaker 4: So it's like the nature of the position is totally changed,
- 5:36Speaker 4: and why would you spend any time, effort or energy
- 5:40Speaker 4: in bringing a sort of an antiquated version of what
- 5:43Speaker 4: quarterback is well, And I think what they what I
- 5:46Speaker 4: think is is they're trying to get leadership. What they're
- 5:50Speaker 4: thinking is he can bring so leaders so I do.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I think. No, I'm not saying he's.
- 5:58Speaker 4: The guy, but he's His name resonates over the NFL.
- 6:03Speaker 3: I think they're just trying to get it.
- 6:05Speaker 4: See if he got one last spark and if you
- 6:08Speaker 4: already take us far. I think that's what they're thinking.
- 6:10Speaker 4: If I'm a general manager, okay, not a coach. If
- 6:13Speaker 4: I'm a GM and I'm considering this or I'm looking
- 6:18Speaker 4: at this situation.
- 6:20Speaker 3: My homework would be what did he do there? Yeah?
- 6:24Speaker 3: What did he do there?
- 6:26Speaker 4: Right?
- 6:27Speaker 3: Where's where's his path to.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Make me think he can take me anywhere that I
- 6:34Speaker 4: haven't already been.
- 6:35Speaker 3: You're looking at Green Bay? Yeah?
- 6:37Speaker 6: Well yeah, I mean pretty much Green Bay was it,
- 6:39Speaker 6: you know.
- 6:40Speaker 5: But if you look at his whole body of work
- 6:42Speaker 5: as a as a quarterback in the past, it's like
- 6:45Speaker 5: the ghost of Christmas past.
- 6:46Speaker 6: We're looking at bat I.
- 6:48Speaker 5: Mean it's like, you know, he was the hail Mary
- 6:50Speaker 5: King in his era. You know, he found ways to
- 6:54Speaker 5: win games and he was exciting to watch at the time.
- 6:57Speaker 5: But like I said, ghost of Christmas past, we're looking now,
- 7:00Speaker 5: we're at you know, the present, and I'm not sure
- 7:02Speaker 5: I think the game has left him. And plus I
- 7:05Speaker 5: don't think physically he's able to withstand the defenses and
- 7:10Speaker 5: the pressures that you know, it requires a younger person,
- 7:14Speaker 5: a younger version of him, to be able to be successful,
- 7:16Speaker 5: in my opinion.
- 7:17Speaker 4: More so an athletic quarterback, yes, and he is not
- 7:22Speaker 4: that so just to play a game. If we got
- 7:24Speaker 4: to say, he's got to be somewhere in the league
- 7:27Speaker 4: next year, where do you think, where do you project
- 7:30Speaker 4: he could possibly land that would be the best fit
- 7:33Speaker 4: for the team in himself.
- 7:34Speaker 3: What's the worst team in the league?
- 7:36Speaker 4: What Carolina Panthers. That's where he goes. That's where he
- 7:41Speaker 4: ain't going. There, he is not going. But if you're
- 7:44Speaker 4: asking me, if what am I going to be looking for?
- 7:47Speaker 4: If I'm the Panthers and I'm the worst I have
- 7:50Speaker 4: the worst record, the worst team in the league, I
- 7:53Speaker 4: got nothing to look anybody else.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Before you think, make a different path. I think that's
- 8:01Speaker 5: that's pretty hilarious.
- 8:02Speaker 3: It's funny.
- 8:03Speaker 6: It was funny.
- 8:04Speaker 5: I think, you know, you know, Davonte Adams followed him
- 8:07Speaker 5: there from the Raiders, and so you know they were thinking, oh,
- 8:11Speaker 5: you know, the reunion. They're gonna you know, that Spark's
- 8:13Speaker 5: gonna fly again. They're going to, you know, bring the
- 8:15Speaker 5: Jets back to glory days. And I feel like there's
- 8:20Speaker 5: been talking Packer Nation that they want Davonte Adams to
- 8:24Speaker 5: come to the Packers because Jordan Love needs those receivers,
- 8:27Speaker 5: those reliable receivers. Although I feel like it's kind of
- 8:30Speaker 5: he's kind of in the same boat as Aaron Rodgers.
- 8:32Speaker 6: I feel like age is catching up with him.
- 8:34Speaker 5: But I just wonder if it's going to be one
- 8:37Speaker 5: of those deals, if the Packers would approach Let's just say,
- 8:39Speaker 5: you know, the scenario is that they are interested in Davante.
- 8:42Speaker 5: The package deal up, okay, but I want Aaron to
- 8:45Speaker 5: follow me.
- 8:45Speaker 3: No way.
- 8:46Speaker 6: You don't think you.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Got a young quarterback in love. He led you to
- 8:49Speaker 4: the playoffs. I think not just let not this last
- 8:52Speaker 4: learn a lot he was, but he's a young kid.
- 8:55Speaker 4: And I don't think you move backwards because Aaron Rodgers.
- 8:58Speaker 4: He's not gonna be a backup.
- 8:59Speaker 3: No, I don't think he's going to do that. No,
- 9:01Speaker 3: he's not gonna want to be a backup.
- 9:03Speaker 5: Don't you think you'll have to be those somewhere? I
- 9:06Speaker 5: mean somewhere wherever you a I don't.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Think it's he goes.
- 9:09Speaker 5: No, but I think you'll retire.
- 9:11Speaker 6: I mean, I really think you should retire.
- 9:13Speaker 4: There's no question. Now, there's no questioning. I think it's Minnesota.
- 9:18Speaker 4: And I say, because Sam Donald, I know they're Donaldson,
- 9:21Speaker 4: they're gonna They're thinking. The talk is he's gonna move on,
- 9:25Speaker 4: which I think is a huge mistake. I don't think
- 9:27Speaker 4: that's what I think they should resign him and then
- 9:30Speaker 4: work to get your quarterback of the future. But if
- 9:33Speaker 4: in fact Sam Donaldson moves on, then I think Aaron
- 9:36Speaker 4: Rodgers goes to Minnesota.
- 9:38Speaker 3: I think that's fit big a quick fact.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Yeah, they got a decent offensive line, they got good
- 9:43Speaker 4: skilled players, they got a solid defense. And I think
- 9:47Speaker 4: because you're not going to go somewhere If I'm Aaron
- 9:50Speaker 4: Rodgers where I'm not going to a rebuilding situation, I'm
- 9:52Speaker 4: not going to do the Jets again. That was his
- 9:54Speaker 4: first mistake. He should have never went to somewhere where
- 9:57Speaker 4: now they got to rebuild. You gotta go somewhere where
- 9:58Speaker 4: it's already happening. Here is my problem with that, that
- 10:03Speaker 4: that you want him. I don't think so. I'm just
- 10:06Speaker 4: saying I'm hoping. But if if they do, if they do.
- 10:15Speaker 3: This again, would follow suit as close to the Herschel
- 10:19Speaker 3: Walker deal? Yes, it is.
- 10:22Speaker 4: You ain't giving up nothing for him. You're not giving
- 10:24Speaker 4: up anything. You're not getting anything. You're gonna lose a
- 10:28Speaker 4: quarterback that that took you to the playoffs. Yes, and
- 10:34Speaker 4: you're gonna go to a dude older than me and
- 10:40Speaker 4: you're gonna expect him to You're gonna expect him to
- 10:43Speaker 4: take you somewhere. Yeah, I mean, I'm not saying, I
- 10:47Speaker 4: just I mean, where else does he go? You're not
- 10:49Speaker 4: going to Arizona, You're not going to the Raiders. You're
- 10:52Speaker 4: I mean, I know they talked about Safford leaving l
- 10:56Speaker 4: A that I don't know if that's gonna work for you,
- 10:59Speaker 4: But I'm just a again, you being an older quarterback,
- 11:02Speaker 4: you want to go somewhere. It's Comic Control for the
- 11:05Speaker 4: most part, and you're playing in the familiar division, So I.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Don't know where you would go.
- 11:11Speaker 6: I'm telling you.
- 11:12Speaker 3: I mean again, they talked about, they talked about.
- 11:17Speaker 4: They talked about Pittsburgh, but I just think that's that
- 11:20Speaker 4: would be crazy for Pittsburgh to do that. I mean,
- 11:22Speaker 4: you might as just keep Russell Wilson if you're going
- 11:23Speaker 4: to do that.
- 11:24Speaker 3: What you know? What? What?
- 11:26Speaker 4: What shocks me about about him and his reality of
- 11:31Speaker 4: still playing.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Okay, I knew. I knew when I was in New Orleans.
- 11:38Speaker 3: I read a play. I knew it was a curl.
- 11:41Speaker 3: I'm thinking, oh, this is gonna be my first pick for.
- 11:44Speaker 4: The New Orleans Saints, And in my mind, I'm thinking, Okay,
- 11:48Speaker 4: I make this pick. I run it back, you know,
- 11:51Speaker 4: maybe get a six. And I'm still I'm still able
- 11:56Speaker 4: to play. I'm as good as I thought I was
- 11:58Speaker 4: when I was with the Vikings. Next thing I know,
- 12:01Speaker 4: I don't make the pick. I end up tackling the dude,
- 12:05Speaker 4: and I'm now I am petrified in my mind because
- 12:08Speaker 4: I knew I saw this like two steps in. I'm like,
- 12:11Speaker 4: it's a curl, and it was a curl and I
- 12:15Speaker 4: couldn't get there. Now, when you have those moments, I
- 12:20Speaker 4: don't know how you forget them, because I couldn't forget it.
- 12:24Speaker 4: I knew at that point, get me through the end
- 12:26Speaker 4: of the season, and I'm going home.
- 12:28Speaker 3: I'm done because I just can't do it.
- 12:31Speaker 4: And I have to believe he has seen a curl
- 12:36Speaker 4: route that he could throw. Maybe he's in his mind
- 12:41Speaker 4: he's telling himself, oh, I can still make that throw.
- 12:46Speaker 4: It's not that I couldn't make another play again, there's
- 12:49Speaker 4: somewhere I'm gonna make a play. I'm gonna knock the
- 12:51Speaker 4: ball down, get an interception.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Da da da da.
- 12:54Speaker 4: But the fact that I realized I couldn't make that,
- 12:57Speaker 4: there is a play that I couldn't make that I
- 12:59Speaker 4: saw It.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Wasn't a miss. It wasn't accidental that I didn't get there.
- 13:03Speaker 3: It was physically couldn't.
- 13:04Speaker 4: I couldn't get and I knew it, and I knew
- 13:08Speaker 4: it wasn't gonna get any better.
- 13:09Speaker 3: And I guarantee you he's had to have seen this,
- 13:12Speaker 3: and he's acting like, oh, I just missed it. No,
- 13:15Speaker 3: you didn't miss.
- 13:16Speaker 6: It, bro, you you don't have You know he's Undefeated's father, Tom.
- 13:22Speaker 4: You.
- 13:22Speaker 3: That's a fact you can't.
- 13:25Speaker 4: So so speaking, the time it's time up on a
- 13:28Speaker 4: sports All Star games, it's time up.
- 13:31Speaker 3: You made that switch. You made that because listen there,
- 13:38Speaker 3: it's crazy.
- 13:40Speaker 4: I did not even realize it was NBA All Star weekend.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Like I didn't even know it was happening. I watched
- 13:48Speaker 4: sports pretty much or listen to sports every day. We
- 13:51Speaker 4: talked once a week, and I just totally blanked out
- 13:54Speaker 4: that that was a huge event at one time that
- 13:58Speaker 4: you scheduled time to watch to observe all the festivities,
- 14:02Speaker 4: particularly the NBA All Star and we talked about the
- 14:04Speaker 4: Pro Bowl. I think unless you're going to do like
- 14:09Speaker 4: your suggestion where you just take all the sports and
- 14:12Speaker 4: you just have like a weekend where you play flag
- 14:14Speaker 4: and softball just making a big cookout.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Did I just say scrap it? Because it was this
- 14:22Speaker 3: was horrible? Was it?
- 14:23Speaker 5: I mean I caught pieces of it and and but
- 14:27Speaker 5: I think the whole the way to describe a lot
- 14:30Speaker 5: of these, especially the NBA All Star Game, is you
- 14:33Speaker 5: can't manufacture soul.
- 14:34Speaker 6: I mean, those players they're.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Going, they're going through the motions, they're cold, they're not
- 14:41Speaker 5: into it. I mean it's just pretty obvious. I mean,
- 14:43Speaker 5: they're there because they have to be there. And you know,
- 14:46Speaker 5: I think the viewership probably dropped whenever Lebron you know
- 14:50Speaker 5: what it was the two hours before the game. He
- 14:52Speaker 5: you know, he couldn't play, even though he's played the.
- 14:54Speaker 6: Past twenty years. It's not like he's not loyal to
- 14:56Speaker 6: the game.
- 14:57Speaker 5: He just couldn't do it this year because of physical
- 14:59Speaker 5: problems and he wants to save himself for the Lakers
- 15:02Speaker 5: playoff runt and I get that.
- 15:03Speaker 3: But he didn't have an injury. I think he did, Yes,
- 15:07Speaker 3: he does, It wasn't it wasn't.
- 15:11Speaker 5: Like an injury injury like a surgical And the fact
- 15:15Speaker 5: that he didn't really say anything, like he didn't tell anybody.
- 15:19Speaker 3: He just shows up in a couple hours before for
- 15:22Speaker 3: the game.
- 15:23Speaker 4: See to me, that's not even the most egregious part.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Right number one, you have a G League player who
- 15:30Speaker 4: only gets signed essentially to participate in the slam Dunk contest.
- 15:36Speaker 4: He doesn't even he wanted three years. This is a
- 15:41Speaker 4: this is a fringe G League player, McClung. It's Mac mcclub,
- 15:48Speaker 4: Mac mcclun, who doesn't even Really, you're not making a
- 15:53Speaker 4: roster outside of.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Your ability to win a slam dunk contest.
- 15:57Speaker 4: And then and then on top of that, which again
- 15:59Speaker 4: shot to him because this dunks were phenomenal. Yes, he
- 16:02Speaker 4: was a high live Yes, right of the whole week
- 16:04Speaker 4: he deserves, we deserve it. Let me say this without him,
- 16:07Speaker 4: without him the weekend shot. Yeah, there is nothing that
- 16:11Speaker 4: you can talk about. Yeah, it's not really much, But.
- 16:13Speaker 6: You didn't talk about Kevin Hart.
- 16:14Speaker 5: I heard he was on there a lot, like they
- 16:16Speaker 5: had all these interruptions, and they said he just would
- 16:19Speaker 5: like twenty minute breaks like the broadcasters at some point
- 16:22Speaker 5: they said didn't even know what was going on.
- 16:24Speaker 3: I don't. I don't care for him into the sports realm,
- 16:27Speaker 3: I just I do.
- 16:29Speaker 4: But then it's like even even to the point where
- 16:31Speaker 4: you have the skill challenge, which is still pretty okay,
- 16:34Speaker 4: right three the three point contest, and then you have
- 16:37Speaker 4: like the the actual skill challenge where the dribbling, the
- 16:41Speaker 4: passing with the guards. You had Chris Paul, who is
- 16:45Speaker 4: an NBA veteran, basically part of this obstacle course. If
- 16:50Speaker 4: you will, you have a passing component, a dribbling component,
- 16:53Speaker 4: then you have a shooting component, and it's timed right,
- 16:56Speaker 4: so the fastest time wins. It's that of doing like
- 17:01Speaker 4: shooting the shots. He just throws the ball in order
- 17:04Speaker 4: to get out the obstacle course faster him and with wimbley.
- 17:09Speaker 4: And it's just like at a point, dude, are you
- 17:11Speaker 4: not reading the room. We don't want to. We want
- 17:13Speaker 4: to come to see the skills, and you're not even
- 17:16Speaker 4: giving us that. I'm just telling you they are to
- 17:20Speaker 4: just scrap it. The NBA all start. Just let it
- 17:23Speaker 4: go and let me ask this and hope, hope your thought.
- 17:27Speaker 4: I don't think that the players themselves care about what
- 17:33Speaker 4: the fan base is watching, because it this is just
- 17:38Speaker 4: this is kind of a guy to care.
- 17:40Speaker 3: That's that's the point of No, No, they don't have to, but.
- 17:43Speaker 4: You should you should. Yeah, I granted you should, but
- 17:48Speaker 4: I think now I made extra I made extra money
- 17:52Speaker 4: because you know, I'm playing in the All Star Game.
- 17:55Speaker 4: I'm going through all this process, so I'm getting more money.
- 17:58Speaker 4: That's additional money that I'm getting paid. No one's playing
- 18:01Speaker 4: any defense, none of the old school skilled things are
- 18:08Speaker 4: being taken as serious as what maybe they used to be.
- 18:12Speaker 3: And so.
- 18:14Speaker 4: When I look at it like it's it ends up
- 18:17Speaker 4: being a waste of my time in watching it, and
- 18:20Speaker 4: I don't think it bothers them one way or the other.
- 18:24Speaker 5: And to your point, Hollis, I agree that they probably
- 18:27Speaker 5: should scrap it. But surprisingly this isn't just an exhibition game.
- 18:31Speaker 5: This is one of the biggest money makers the NBA has,
- 18:33Speaker 5: if you can believe that, other than the playoffs and
- 18:36Speaker 5: the finals, they make more money on this weekend, this
- 18:39Speaker 5: whole weekend, all the activities and the and the TV
- 18:42Speaker 5: viewership than they do throughout the season.
- 18:44Speaker 4: And is that do you think that's because people are
- 18:47Speaker 4: tuning into it hoping advertising. Well, advertising, they're they're making
- 18:53Speaker 4: that money. But on the other side, for the for
- 18:55Speaker 4: the for the viewership, do you think people turn on
- 18:59Speaker 4: turn it on and hoping that it's different, and then
- 19:03Speaker 4: ten minutes and they realize it's not.
- 19:05Speaker 3: I think aunt, I think one hundred percent.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Again, you definitely used to tune it because it was
- 19:10Speaker 4: something special that you wouldn't see.
- 19:12Speaker 3: In addition to the we talked about advertisement.
- 19:15Speaker 4: The players they'll have like their special All Stars shoes
- 19:18Speaker 4: and you know, the uniforms and all that sort of thing.
- 19:21Speaker 4: But to me, it's like, if you're not going to
- 19:23Speaker 4: at least let it be competitive. Again, it's never been like,
- 19:28Speaker 4: you know, a playoff game, but we know for three
- 19:30Speaker 4: quarters they were kind of lolligag and then that fourth
- 19:33Speaker 4: quarter that HiT's getting turned up if somebody want to win,
- 19:36Speaker 4: like the Kobe Jordan, those type of intensity fourth quarter
- 19:40Speaker 4: games where we're seeing the best in the world.
- 19:42Speaker 3: And right now you're literally.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Seeing the best in the world because these kids are
- 19:47Speaker 4: from all over the planet. So it's just like, why
- 19:50Speaker 4: not just take it serious? And then you got to
- 19:52Speaker 4: do all these gimmicks because at the point whence you
- 19:54Speaker 4: got to start doing a whole bunch of gimmicks, Man,
- 19:57Speaker 4: whatever you're doing is shot.
- 19:59Speaker 3: If you got to start doing whole bunch of gimmicks.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Shout out the.
- 20:02Speaker 4: Baby dog if you got to do all that, if
- 20:06Speaker 4: you got to do all that, then it's over.
- 20:12Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 20:13Speaker 4: Yeah, right right, Because here's what's funny. You're you're sitting
- 20:19Speaker 4: in this room in a suit, is sitting coming probably
- 20:24Speaker 4: from something that's really important, and that's what you get.
- 20:29Speaker 6: But it's perfect.
- 20:30Speaker 5: Well, well, here's a question that I'll throw out to
- 20:33Speaker 5: you guys, and we can you know, put it out
- 20:35Speaker 5: for discussion. But you know, what's happening with the NBA
- 20:38Speaker 5: is your big names, your your big players that people
- 20:41Speaker 5: recognize are getting older, your younger generation. I mean, you've
- 20:45Speaker 5: got Lebron when he's forty, You've got Steph Curry, KD.
- 20:50Speaker 6: They're both what thirty six, thirty seven?
- 20:53Speaker 5: You know, is it time for them to kind of
- 20:55Speaker 5: back off and and and you know, right off into
- 20:59Speaker 5: the sunsets to speak here within the next year or two,
- 21:02Speaker 5: especially for this game, the NBA, you know, All Star game,
- 21:06Speaker 5: and let the younger players take over.
- 21:08Speaker 6: But then who's gonna do it?
- 21:09Speaker 5: Mike, Mike McClung. I mean, we've got to have some
- 21:11Speaker 5: bigger names, right.
- 21:13Speaker 3: You gotta have like the job morah.
- 21:16Speaker 4: And the fact of the matter is that even to
- 21:17Speaker 4: you even to that point, right, it's like, are things
- 21:21Speaker 4: within that league just gonna get more intense? Because I
- 21:24Speaker 4: think that's the problem I have with the NBA watching it.
- 21:26Speaker 4: It just doesn't seem intense. Like you go down shoot
- 21:29Speaker 4: a three pointer, get the repound. Another team goes shoots
- 21:32Speaker 4: the three pointer, and it just becomes that's what you know,
- 21:34Speaker 4: is up and down the court doing that. It's like
- 21:36Speaker 4: the it's like a lack of intensity. And and that's
- 21:39Speaker 4: and and that to me is what's creating the what
- 21:44Speaker 4: what I would call the dying of basketball, of real basketball,
- 21:48Speaker 4: because as great as Steph Curry is and him hitting
- 21:53Speaker 4: those shots, the three point shots, even ones way beyond
- 21:57Speaker 4: the arc. You walk into any gym with the basketball,
- 22:04Speaker 4: the very first place that that kid on the basketball
- 22:07Speaker 4: court is going to take a shot from is beyond
- 22:10Speaker 4: the three.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Yeah. And that's that's not really it's not fundamental. It's
- 22:16Speaker 3: not the fundamentals.
- 22:18Speaker 4: And I think because of these guys are so good,
- 22:22Speaker 4: so great, so they can master you know, you look
- 22:25Speaker 4: at Steph Curry and the way he handles the ball,
- 22:27Speaker 4: and if I'm a kid and I'm watching him, man,
- 22:29Speaker 4: I want to be able to do that my first
- 22:31Speaker 4: time trying to do that in the game. Next thing
- 22:33Speaker 4: I realize is, you know, I lose the ball. You
- 22:37Speaker 4: know you can't do it. You're not Steph Curry.
- 22:41Speaker 3: And I think we the game is.
- 22:46Speaker 4: Teaching everything that is wrong because of their greatness.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Does that make sense.
- 22:51Speaker 4: They're so good at the things that they do that
- 22:53Speaker 4: they make the kids want to do these things and
- 22:56Speaker 4: they can't and they're not willing to put in the
- 22:59Speaker 4: work to even have the opportunity to do it.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 4: I mean my problem with basketball in general is just
- 23:04Speaker 4: like I don't like positionless basketball, Like I think, like
- 23:08Speaker 4: when you have the Shacks, when you had you know,
- 23:10Speaker 4: the Carl Malons, when you have guys that's playing on
- 23:13Speaker 4: the post, when you had Regi Miller, He's going to
- 23:15Speaker 4: shoot the three, Alan Overlinson's going to take it to
- 23:17Speaker 4: the whole. Everybody had a distinct skill set that would
- 23:22Speaker 4: be used and deployed within the context of the game,
- 23:25Speaker 4: and you have so much variety happening around the game.
- 23:28Speaker 3: It just made it so fun to watch. Even like
- 23:30Speaker 3: a Jordan where he was taking.
- 23:32Speaker 4: It to the rack and then he developed his post
- 23:34Speaker 4: up game and he had a mid range. His game evolved,
- 23:37Speaker 4: and you just seen that evolution of greatness. Why in
- 23:40Speaker 4: the game today, it's just it's almost free flowing to
- 23:44Speaker 4: a fault if you will, just doesn't because it's not
- 23:46Speaker 4: actually flowing now, it's just happening. Well, you don't have
- 23:50Speaker 4: the big man that's gonna post down low, not necessarily not.
- 23:53Speaker 4: It ain't too many, No, ain't too many. They could
- 23:56Speaker 4: do it, but that's not what they want. They want
- 23:59Speaker 4: to jump shot too.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Ye And that just makes it to me, it's just
- 24:01Speaker 3: hard to watch. I don't know.
- 24:03Speaker 5: Well, and like like we said, the care factor is
- 24:05Speaker 5: just it's it's apparent. Like like you said, the first
- 24:08Speaker 5: three quarters that was boring. The fourth quarter everybody started
- 24:11Speaker 5: to really play the game and pick it up, pick
- 24:13Speaker 5: up the pace, and nobody's going to stick around for that,
- 24:16Speaker 5: I mean, not for the whole game.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm I'm gone by the time you all pick
- 24:20Speaker 3: it up. Yeah we see.
- 24:21Speaker 4: That's the see again and that's that's the Pro Bowl
- 24:24Speaker 4: as well. You know, it was washed it really, it
- 24:29Speaker 4: really is. Because you can't fake football like you can't.
- 24:32Speaker 4: You know, there's no three pointer that you can hit
- 24:36Speaker 4: that makes everybody happy, you know, and personally I don't
- 24:39Speaker 4: want to see dudes play flag football. I mean, it's cool,
- 24:42Speaker 4: but you're gonna havelf. You're gonna go half speed and
- 24:45Speaker 4: flag too. So it's just like I don't want to
- 24:46Speaker 4: see these great athletes play.
- 24:48Speaker 6: Want to see anybody play.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Period.
- 24:52Speaker 3: It's cool.
- 24:53Speaker 6: I might play, but.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, So to to your point when we when
- 24:59Speaker 4: we talk about flag football, is it is it going
- 25:05Speaker 4: to be something that ultimately is going to.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Challenge football? Do you think it's going to Yes, No,
- 25:15Speaker 3: you can't. You'll have women.
- 25:18Speaker 4: I think they will eventually be because I know there's
- 25:20Speaker 4: women leagues in some states in high school.
- 25:22Speaker 3: I think is there not one? Just gotten?
- 25:26Speaker 4: I don't think locally, not that I'm aware of, but
- 25:29Speaker 4: I know there's some states have like women's flag in
- 25:32Speaker 4: high schools and some colleges have women's flag. So I
- 25:35Speaker 4: think you're going to see that, which that that'd be
- 25:37Speaker 4: fun to watch. But as far as flags see, I
- 25:39Speaker 4: think he's okay. So I know for I know this
- 25:42Speaker 4: for a fact, okay, that flag football is is going
- 25:48Speaker 4: to is going to take place somewhere here in the valley.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Will we'll have men's I.
- 25:55Speaker 5: Can see soccer doing way better than flag football, I mean,
- 26:00Speaker 5: my replacement for NFL football.
- 26:02Speaker 4: My fear is for the kids who some of the
- 26:06Speaker 4: kids who don't want to play football, or the parents
- 26:08Speaker 4: who don't want their kids to quote play football because.
- 26:11Speaker 3: Of the the injury issue.
- 26:14Speaker 4: I could see flag football for men, boys, young men.
- 26:20Speaker 3: I could see it.
- 26:22Speaker 4: I could see it being a little bit of an
- 26:24Speaker 4: issue for some of.
- 26:26Speaker 3: The skill set players that's playing football. I think, I.
- 26:32Speaker 5: Think if, if, if that's the if, that's a possibility,
- 26:35Speaker 5: it's in its way in the future.
- 26:37Speaker 4: And I think and I and I think to at
- 26:39Speaker 4: least this point, soccer would take hold of that before.
- 26:41Speaker 4: I mean, because flag is cool, it's fun to play.
- 26:44Speaker 4: But ain't nobody Soccer is already. Yeah, they're they're taking
- 26:48Speaker 4: and they're taking the skill set, guys. That's what I'm
- 26:51Speaker 4: saying here. Soccer is going to be the one to
- 26:53Speaker 4: pick up the flag. The flag is going to be
- 26:56Speaker 4: some anccellario. Now, it's like three on three basketball, all right, Well,
- 26:59Speaker 4: let's take quick break and we'll be right back.
- 27:01Speaker 7: Let's face it, bad things happen to good people seriously

- 28:01Speaker 2: the conversation.
- 28:03Speaker 3: All right, ladies and gentlemen, we are back.
- 28:08Speaker 4: I want to just say one one more thing about
- 28:11Speaker 4: the about flag football, because I really don't like it,
- 28:17Speaker 4: Like I mean, I really really truly don't don't like it.
- 28:20Speaker 4: And but I understand it, okay.
- 28:25Speaker 3: But I just don't.
- 28:26Speaker 4: I don't see there being if you're playing flag football.
- 28:33Speaker 4: I don't understand why you just don't play football, okay.
- 28:37Speaker 4: I mean, like you said, you don't want to get
- 28:38Speaker 4: to hurt, you don't want to face the injuries. I
- 28:40Speaker 4: think football has its place. I mean I think it's
- 28:43Speaker 4: I played flag. One of y'all just couldn't play football
- 28:45Speaker 4: for one reason. I played flag at the while. I
- 28:47Speaker 4: think if you're I think, if you're to me, it's
- 28:50Speaker 4: a great segue into the game. If you're five six seven,
- 28:54Speaker 4: you do not need to be playing tackle football, in
- 28:56Speaker 4: my opinion, don't play flag. So you're saying for the
- 28:59Speaker 4: kids that are don't fit, Okay, okay, I can. I
- 29:05Speaker 4: can live with that. See that's see, that's why you
- 29:07Speaker 4: do what you can learn the skills and you can
- 29:11Speaker 4: have the fun. But I also still feel though, like
- 29:17Speaker 4: soccer still has a huge risk of injury. You know,
- 29:21Speaker 4: I mean you're not like that, not not nothing, nothing,
- 29:25Speaker 4: nothing remotely close to football.
- 29:27Speaker 3: But you're still running around, you know, diving into people.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Here's the thing, though, what I tell people is like this, soccer, basketball,
- 29:37Speaker 4: at times, baseball, those are contact sports, hockey, football, rugby,
- 29:42Speaker 4: collision sports. So it's a little bit of a difference
- 29:46Speaker 4: when we talk about collision.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Verse you're playing on the word to make that. You're
- 29:51Speaker 3: playing on the words to make that word.
- 29:53Speaker 4: I mean it is if you're running into somebody full speed,
- 29:56Speaker 4: come over from him every single play line and are
- 29:58Speaker 4: going head up.
- 29:59Speaker 3: It's a differ sports.
- 30:00Speaker 4: So it's like, I can understand why somebody wouldn't want
- 30:03Speaker 4: to you know, I cann it ain't for everybody.
- 30:05Speaker 3: No, it's not. It definitely is not.
- 30:08Speaker 6: But you pretty much get hit every single play play. Yeah,
- 30:12Speaker 6: I mean it's true. It's a collision sport.
- 30:14Speaker 3: I like it. It's a collision sport. All right.
- 30:16Speaker 4: So all right, I'm kind of excited about this next
- 30:20Speaker 4: conversation because and I'm going to give all the props
- 30:24Speaker 4: to Hollis, who threw it out into the in the
- 30:27Speaker 4: text that we were having today trying to discuss on
- 30:30Speaker 4: what we were going to talk about, and he throws out, like,
- 30:36Speaker 4: what is what is it? Basically is I took it
- 30:39Speaker 4: as what is the goat? Like and who is the goat?
- 30:43Speaker 4: But like what does it mean? What does that actually mean?
- 30:46Speaker 4: Like how do you interpret that? Because how you interpret it.
- 30:50Speaker 4: I'm going to assume is how you're going to pick
- 30:53Speaker 4: that person. And I'll and I'll just start it off
- 30:55Speaker 4: because we coach Pennington and I were having this conversation
- 30:59Speaker 4: during the Super Bowl and he said something. He kind
- 31:02Speaker 4: of said that casually to maybe get my wheels turning.
- 31:06Speaker 4: He was like, the goat is defined by championships period.
- 31:11Speaker 4: He's like, when you're talking about the goat, it's solely
- 31:15Speaker 4: defined by not not just championship, but what you do
- 31:20Speaker 4: in championship moments. So that made it that was that, Yeah.
- 31:26Speaker 6: Okay, that's no other judgement.
- 31:29Speaker 4: That's that's what Again. We didn't I didn't ask him
- 31:32Speaker 4: to elaborate, but.
- 31:34Speaker 5: I mean it's a good place to start. I think
- 31:37Speaker 5: there's other factors that play in what do you think, girl?
- 31:40Speaker 4: I think when you say it, when you say it
- 31:42Speaker 4: that way, it does kind of say, you know, like
- 31:47Speaker 4: if you say, let's go boxing, because that's usually somewhat
- 31:51Speaker 4: of an easier one, even though there's still.
- 31:55Speaker 6: Do you know that's the origin of the acron.
- 32:01Speaker 3: And I don't think anybody can.
- 32:03Speaker 4: You may not like Muhammad Ali and you might want
- 32:05Speaker 4: to give it to somebody else, but The one thing
- 32:08Speaker 4: about it is you can deny him of being, if
- 32:11Speaker 4: not the greatest boxer, he's the top two or three.
- 32:16Speaker 3: He's the goat. But but I don't know.
- 32:19Speaker 4: But I think when when, as far as my definition
- 32:22Speaker 4: is concerned, when when I say what I just said
- 32:24Speaker 4: previously about what the goat is when we talk about
- 32:27Speaker 4: Muhammad Ali, we talk about him being the goat in
- 32:31Speaker 4: the aspect we're talking about him in totality. We're not
- 32:34Speaker 4: just talking about Muhammad Ali when he fights versus A Jordan.
- 32:38Speaker 4: We're talking about strictly on the basketball court.
- 32:43Speaker 3: You see what I'm saying.
- 32:44Speaker 4: No, what I'm saying is this, there's a bunch of
- 32:49Speaker 4: great players, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Reggie Miller. I'm just
- 32:53Speaker 4: talking about that era. They were all great players in
- 32:57Speaker 4: that area. They're not good. They are great players, fame player, right,
- 33:01Speaker 4: But ain't none of them to go because the goat
- 33:04Speaker 4: is defined by championships in solely championships. Because again there's
- 33:10Speaker 4: a bunch of great players. But what separates great from goat? Well,
- 33:15Speaker 4: and I'll to validate that, you know, I Eric Dickerson,
- 33:24Speaker 4: like you know what I'm saying, Like I would make
- 33:26Speaker 4: a case back in the day that dude was everything,
- 33:31Speaker 4: had it all. To my knowledge, I'm not sure if
- 33:34Speaker 4: he won any Super Bowls or anything. And you don't
- 33:38Speaker 4: even really hear his name, you know what I'm saying.
- 33:43Speaker 4: So to your valid point of saying, Okay, championships is
- 33:46Speaker 4: because if you win championships, the other piece that comes
- 33:49Speaker 4: with championships is you're always gonna be talked about. You
- 33:54Speaker 4: win a championship, that team you played on, somebody on
- 33:58Speaker 4: that team is going to be talked about.
- 34:00Speaker 5: Okay, Well, I mean I agree that championships should be
- 34:10Speaker 5: part of the formula. I don't think it's the total formula.
- 34:13Speaker 5: I think there's some other things that play a factor
- 34:15Speaker 5: in it. First of all, individual records. You know, if
- 34:18Speaker 5: you set some records for your sport, that that should
- 34:21Speaker 5: be a factor that.
- 34:22Speaker 6: You look at.
- 34:23Speaker 5: Uh, the impact on the game. Did you bring in
- 34:25Speaker 5: more viewers because your name was recognizable, did you, you know,
- 34:30Speaker 5: bring the sport, did you lift the sport higher than
- 34:32Speaker 5: it already was before you started playing it? And of
- 34:35Speaker 5: course overall legacy. So I think it's just Also I
- 34:38Speaker 5: think it's generational. I mean, I really feel like we've
- 34:41Speaker 5: talked about how the games, even football, basketball, how they've
- 34:45Speaker 5: evolved from one style of play to another. So what
- 34:48Speaker 5: was the goat back in this style of play is
- 34:51Speaker 5: completely different from what it is today's style of play?
- 34:54Speaker 6: That makes sense.
- 34:55Speaker 4: I'm glad I said that because when I when I
- 34:57Speaker 4: refer to the goat, I'm not in thissary. I think
- 34:59Speaker 4: there's all time guys, But I'm generally referring to the
- 35:03Speaker 4: goat of like your era. I think that's kind of
- 35:06Speaker 4: because but to your point, to that point, to what
- 35:09Speaker 4: you just said, Now, when we talk about Eric Dickerson
- 35:13Speaker 4: in that air, who was else in that air? Who
- 35:16Speaker 4: was else in that air? Why would we and why
- 35:21Speaker 4: would we say Walter Payton is the is the goat
- 35:25Speaker 4: running back of that era over Eric Dickerson? What's the difference?
- 35:29Speaker 4: I don't know if there would be, no there's a difference.
- 35:32Speaker 4: What's the difference? One got a Super Bowl in one don't.
- 35:35Speaker 4: Eric may have more yards, they have a better running style,
- 35:40Speaker 4: all that may have been overall better back Barry Sanders.
- 35:45Speaker 3: But people would argue INMMS.
- 35:46Speaker 4: Smith, Yes, people would say, im Smith, don't you.
- 35:50Speaker 5: Think for the sport of football though, having one a
- 35:54Speaker 5: goat is probably, it's almost impossible.
- 35:57Speaker 3: I'd say it is.
- 35:58Speaker 6: All the different positions there are.
- 36:00Speaker 3: I think, yeah, you can't.
- 36:02Speaker 6: I mean, you can't be.
- 36:05Speaker 3: And and to your cowboy to your cowboy reference.
- 36:13Speaker 4: I mean I wouldn't say that. I'm just saying yeah,
- 36:15Speaker 4: But but I don't really even think like and see.
- 36:18Speaker 4: And again I'm I'm way off base here because I
- 36:21Speaker 4: don't see him in that group.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Who is that Smith all time leadon wrestled. You won't
- 36:26Speaker 3: see him in that group?
- 36:28Speaker 4: Nope, nope, no, no, no, no, okay, but are you talking
- 36:37Speaker 4: You don't see him as like he could.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Be a he No, he's great.
- 36:42Speaker 4: You're just saying like he you don't see him as
- 36:44Speaker 4: a goat running back. No, he can be whatever you
- 36:47Speaker 4: want to call him. I'm just gonna say that when
- 36:50Speaker 4: I when when I look at that era.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Of running backs and he came in toward the end
- 36:55Speaker 3: of it. He he ain't very Dickens. He ain't Walter Payton.
- 37:01Speaker 3: I can see that. You know what I'm saying.
- 37:03Speaker 4: I mean and see And that's why. But okay, let
- 37:07Speaker 4: me ask you this before you go on. Lisa defined
- 37:10Speaker 4: her what her definition of goat is. I define my
- 37:13Speaker 4: what's your definition of it.
- 37:16Speaker 3: I'm gonna make it.
- 37:17Speaker 4: I'm gonna make the case the guys who I I
- 37:21Speaker 4: can't judge the guys now, my.
- 37:23Speaker 3: My, no, no, no, just judge what it is for.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Don't forget error.
- 37:27Speaker 4: I'm just saying, give me a blanket definition of what
- 37:30Speaker 4: a goat is, regardless of mine happening to be either
- 37:37Speaker 4: physically or I've actually seen you know, I've watched, I've
- 37:41Speaker 4: seen them on film whatever.
- 37:43Speaker 3: I'm watching these dudes.
- 37:44Speaker 4: But no, no, no, no, you can't judge it like
- 37:46Speaker 4: what you've seen and what you say because we we
- 37:49Speaker 4: we didn't. We didn't watch Muhammad Ali fights in the sixties.
- 37:52Speaker 4: But so what I'm saying, mine is saying, I'm defining
- 37:54Speaker 4: by I'm gonna say I'm gonna decided by a bunch
- 37:58Speaker 4: of other qualifications.
- 37:59Speaker 3: So what's yours. I'm gonna say that guy who changes the.
- 38:03Speaker 4: Whole legacy, the whole structure of running back, quarterback, wide receives,
- 38:09Speaker 4: so changed the game. Who changes the game every single
- 38:13Speaker 4: you know, has the impact to change how running backs run,
- 38:18Speaker 4: how receivers.
- 38:21Speaker 6: Solely that nothing else, not championships, not.
- 38:26Speaker 4: I one n love the idea of championships, but when
- 38:29Speaker 4: I start looking at players at position and try to
- 38:33Speaker 4: figure out who who do I think is the goat?
- 38:36Speaker 4: I don't even have to think about, like I don't
- 38:38Speaker 4: have to think about a championship.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Unfortunately or fortunately.
- 38:43Speaker 4: I'm I'm thinking about somebody who I win against, and
- 38:46Speaker 4: somebody who I saw watching film on maybe playing somebody else.
- 38:50Speaker 3: Maybe I didn't even play.
- 38:51Speaker 4: Okay, let's take it outside. Let's take it sport by sport.
- 38:54Speaker 4: So let's say, and again, football is a bad one.
- 38:58Speaker 4: Let's say baseball is hard. Let's let's let's let's go
- 39:01Speaker 4: baseball first. And I'm saying, you can go picture hit her.
- 39:04Speaker 4: Just we're just going there. So I'm saying it's a goat.
- 39:08Speaker 4: Who were saying hit her? I don't have give me somebody.
- 39:13Speaker 4: I'm saying Barry Bonds. And again I'm breaking my own
- 39:15Speaker 4: rule because I don't think Barry Bond's ever won a championship.
- 39:18Speaker 4: But I'm just saying, as a hitter, there's nothing you
- 39:22Speaker 4: can do. But and I would also say to the
- 39:25Speaker 4: back end that like a guy like Ricky Henderson who
- 39:27Speaker 4: did it all right, So those would be I would
- 39:31Speaker 4: not go see I would the first person when you
- 39:34Speaker 4: said baseball came to my mind was handing okay and
- 39:38Speaker 4: seeing that that might be just my aid. And I
- 39:41Speaker 4: would also say Greg Maddox to yes, okay, so basketball,
- 39:47Speaker 4: let's go there and you can name a couple if
- 39:49Speaker 4: you got him, I'm Kobe. I'm gonna I'm going Kobe.
- 39:54Speaker 4: I would go Mike Jordan's. Well, like I said, I
- 39:57Speaker 4: don't think you can to me.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Michael Jordan's I'll give you.
- 40:00Speaker 4: I'll give you your point that you're going to say
- 40:02Speaker 4: that Michael Jordan should be the first. I'm with definitely
- 40:04Speaker 4: the first. But coache is right there next to them.
- 40:07Speaker 4: I mean to me, those are those are both Johnson.
- 40:10Speaker 3: I don't think.
- 40:11Speaker 6: So you've got Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
- 40:12Speaker 4: I mean, I love Kareem, but I don't know if
- 40:16Speaker 4: Kareem could do what Michael.
- 40:20Speaker 3: Jordan's or did.
- 40:22Speaker 4: He was he was the leading spoint points, he won
- 40:25Speaker 4: the multitude of championships, everything.
- 40:28Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 40:29Speaker 4: He was my god sky hook, you know, but that
- 40:33Speaker 4: was not it for me. I'm still looking at you
- 40:38Speaker 4: gotta look at it objectively. You look at everything too subjective.
- 40:47Speaker 5: So can we say there's more than one goat for
- 40:50Speaker 5: respect there's just one, even though that's kind of what
- 40:53Speaker 5: the acronym stands for, is the greatest of all time,
- 40:57Speaker 5: tells us it's one, one person.
- 41:00Speaker 3: It's not. It is one.
- 41:03Speaker 4: Let me in basketball, that's one. Let me ask, let me,
- 41:06Speaker 4: let me ask this started, let me ask this. Is
- 41:11Speaker 4: it unfair to try to think that your goat is
- 41:16Speaker 4: the goat?
- 41:16Speaker 3: I'm saying, no, no, no, no no no, I'm not.
- 41:20Speaker 3: I just just use you because you took it first.
- 41:22Speaker 3: He took that person. You know. I'm just making the
- 41:26Speaker 3: case that probably.
- 41:27Speaker 4: We shouldn't really we we can only speak to the
- 41:31Speaker 4: goat based on our experience, our experiences and and who
- 41:36Speaker 4: you can look at this objectively. And I'm saying it
- 41:39Speaker 4: depends I try to give it away out But yeah,
- 41:42Speaker 4: I mean that's true.
- 41:43Speaker 6: Basically, we're all gonna have different goats.
- 41:47Speaker 3: He just does not want to go with it based
- 41:50Speaker 3: on your standards.
- 41:51Speaker 4: And I'm saying, but but I'm saying, even like basketball,
- 41:54Speaker 4: it's Michael Jordan, and I'm saying based on championship moments,
- 41:57Speaker 4: and then a Polsa saying based on other things, based
- 42:00Speaker 4: on the innovation with the shoes and the look, and
- 42:03Speaker 4: he changed the perspective of sports.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Just in general.
- 42:07Speaker 4: And he has championship, and he has championships and and
- 42:12Speaker 4: and the thing about the thing about Michael Jordan, I
- 42:15Speaker 4: think is he did everything for basketball. Yeah, he did
- 42:20Speaker 4: everything like he's the only one regardless of any of
- 42:24Speaker 4: these other guys that have great names and and and
- 42:26Speaker 4: they may not have even had a chance to do
- 42:30Speaker 4: the chew contracts and commercials and all that, because all
- 42:33Speaker 4: those things weren't always available as they have become as
- 42:37Speaker 4: years have passed. But when you start talking about Michael Jordan,
- 42:41Speaker 4: he amped up everything and did everything on the court, offensively, defensively,
- 42:48Speaker 4: hustled everything intensity, He brought the totality of what it is. Now,
- 42:53Speaker 4: let's let's that's your that's your assessment of him.
- 42:56Speaker 6: Everybody sat supporting cast.
- 42:58Speaker 4: But nobody does the ball, but everybody does. That's an
- 43:01Speaker 4: argument that I don't learn.
- 43:03Speaker 5: But you remember their names more so than a lot
- 43:05Speaker 5: of the other support Like I remember Scottie Pippen. Yeah,
- 43:08Speaker 5: and I can't remember the real flamboyant guy. I loved him.
- 43:12Speaker 6: I loved to watch all that.
- 43:15Speaker 4: But any any great team, any great players, you have
- 43:17Speaker 4: to have players around that you just don't get around that.
- 43:20Speaker 4: So I'm saying, okay, let's say it, like this quarterback,
- 43:24Speaker 4: who's the goat quarterback?
- 43:26Speaker 3: We got to pick one. Go ahead, Listen.
- 43:30Speaker 6: I know it pains me to say it.
- 43:32Speaker 5: I'm not a fan, but I mean I recognize great
- 43:35Speaker 5: and it's Tom Brady.
- 43:36Speaker 3: Tom Brady.
- 43:38Speaker 4: Man.
- 43:39Speaker 6: It pains me because I mean it hurt my soul.
- 43:43Speaker 4: For me, it's a toss up between Brady and Montana.
- 43:46Speaker 4: But I would definitely say Brady just because he did
- 43:50Speaker 4: it in a manner that like, he wasn't done. He
- 43:54Speaker 4: wasn't the guy. He wasn't a guy in high school,
- 43:57Speaker 4: he wasn't a guy in college. He progressively got better
- 44:00Speaker 4: and I think the way he did it, and to me,
- 44:03Speaker 4: what's still the deal is actually him going to Tampa
- 44:06Speaker 4: Bay and winning another one outside of New England.
- 44:08Speaker 6: That's what he showed.
- 44:11Speaker 4: That was about me, not about this organization or this coach.
- 44:16Speaker 4: So I recognize that I respect everything about Tom Brady everything,
- 44:26Speaker 4: but I'm gonna have to go Joe Montana for the
- 44:30Speaker 4: for the for the simple simple fact he's got championships
- 44:33Speaker 4: as well, and he's four and he's playing in the
- 44:39Speaker 4: era Montana is playing in the era where getting hit
- 44:48Speaker 4: was fair game and getting back up. You know, I
- 44:53Speaker 4: can't argue and that's what you gotta get and that's
- 44:57Speaker 4: so and get under and getting back up. And some
- 45:03Speaker 4: would say, yes, but he had a great team and
- 45:07Speaker 4: everybody does.
- 45:07Speaker 3: Everybody does. You know, I don't like that argument.
- 45:10Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a tough argument because Brady got a whole
- 45:13Speaker 4: bunch of Hall of Famous he played. There's a ton.
- 45:15Speaker 4: There's a ton too. And I think it again, I
- 45:20Speaker 4: think because of the era of football and where it
- 45:23Speaker 4: was at the time. To win in that era at
- 45:28Speaker 4: that time demanded that quarterback to withstand a whole bunch
- 45:35Speaker 4: of punishment and different types of defenses that were playing
- 45:39Speaker 4: man the man and were blitzing like all day and
- 45:42Speaker 4: hitting the quarterback after he throw. We could argue to that,
- 45:45Speaker 4: I mean, wasn't that was sort of pre free agency, right,
- 45:48Speaker 4: Free agency wasn't as prevalent. It wasn't, so some could
- 45:52Speaker 4: argue that, well, Montana kind of knew who he had.
- 45:55Speaker 4: The guys weren't moving around as much, right, So you
- 45:59Speaker 4: you had that team and you knew that year and
- 46:02Speaker 4: a year out this was the Minnesota Viking's defense. Yes,
- 46:04Speaker 4: and you knew that you knew, but you knew, but
- 46:06Speaker 4: you knew the Bears was coming to Okay, Okay, argument,
- 46:10Speaker 4: now that's what you're saying, And answer this question. If
- 46:16Speaker 4: you were to take the Bears defense, the undefeated team
- 46:20Speaker 4: and drop them into fifteen to one, yes, basically regular season. Yeah,
- 46:28Speaker 4: so you take and drop them into Tom Brady's era
- 46:35Speaker 4: and you're playing them under which rules though under the
- 46:39Speaker 4: old rule.
- 46:40Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a difference.
- 46:42Speaker 4: That's going to be a different that's a difference, and
- 46:44Speaker 4: the receivers are going to be treated different.
- 46:47Speaker 6: That's why it's so debatable. It is so subjective.
- 46:50Speaker 5: I mean, everybody has their own ideals, Like right out
- 46:52Speaker 5: of the gate, we all had different ideals of what
- 46:54Speaker 5: constitutes a goat, And so I think it's just really hard.
- 46:59Speaker 5: That's why you really don't have any solid everybody has
- 47:02Speaker 5: an opinion on it.
- 47:03Speaker 4: I guess, and I guess what and what kind of
- 47:07Speaker 4: sparked me to even want to bring this up because
- 47:09Speaker 4: a lot of people were already taking my homes out
- 47:11Speaker 4: of the goat conversation.
- 47:13Speaker 3: That's because they don't like him, and I'm just like,
- 47:14Speaker 3: how do you take him too soon? I don't know,
- 47:19Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 47:21Speaker 4: To me, he's the most talented person I've ever seen
- 47:24Speaker 4: throw the football. I mean, ever, he's the most talented
- 47:27Speaker 4: person I've ever seen throw the football.
- 47:30Speaker 3: And to win.
- 47:31Speaker 4: I think he's got what three champ to two championships,
- 47:34Speaker 4: been there like five times in this era, I don't know.
- 47:38Speaker 4: And he's gonna be up there and to add to
- 47:40Speaker 4: that home.
- 47:40Speaker 6: But not yet. Do you think he's there?
- 47:42Speaker 4: All right? I think he's definitely a top five quarterback
- 47:45Speaker 4: to me.
- 47:45Speaker 6: A goat. You think he'll he'll he'll pass Tom Brady. No, No,
- 47:52Speaker 6: I'm saying, don't on the road.
- 47:57Speaker 3: I think I think he is the modern he is
- 48:00Speaker 3: a modern goat right now. Facts like he's the he's
- 48:05Speaker 3: the goat now of the NFL.
- 48:07Speaker 4: Of the NFL, and and and and one of the
- 48:10Speaker 4: things that I think that is really really kind of
- 48:12Speaker 4: unique is he's inside of being a true running quarterback.
- 48:20Speaker 4: He's inside of being a pocket quarterback, you know what
- 48:25Speaker 4: I'm saying, Like, like he can do any one of them,
- 48:27Speaker 4: but he doesn't, Like he doesn't. He can scramble, but
- 48:31Speaker 4: he doesn't. That's not his forte. He can run the ball,
- 48:34Speaker 4: that's not his for mat Forte, you know what I'm saying.
- 48:37Speaker 3: And he can be in the pocket, but he can run.
- 48:41Speaker 6: He thinks he's the requirement.
- 48:43Speaker 4: He does everything, he can do everything that most quarterbacks
- 48:47Speaker 4: can do.
- 48:48Speaker 3: One he's either a runner or a thrower, right, and
- 48:51Speaker 3: he does all of.
- 48:54Speaker 6: Conversation at all.
- 48:56Speaker 3: But I know you're a packer.
- 48:58Speaker 4: But I will say this, like I know, way like
- 49:01Speaker 4: the most talented quarterbacks who like throwing talent arm talent.
- 49:06Speaker 4: I mean, it's Mahomes, it's Rogers, it's bread far They're
- 49:09Speaker 4: all up there. But I'm saying overall, and even if
- 49:12Speaker 4: you look far as Mahome is concerned, even if you
- 49:14Speaker 4: look at the two Super Bowls he's lost, it's been
- 49:16Speaker 4: because of not great offensive line play. It's not like
- 49:21Speaker 4: he went out there and lost the games like he
- 49:23Speaker 4: just blew the games, because I mean, the offensive line
- 49:26Speaker 4: playing both of the Super Bowl losses have been pretty horrific. Well,
- 49:29Speaker 4: and and to that point again, that's where we talk
- 49:32Speaker 4: about defense wins championships because teams that have been able
- 49:37Speaker 4: to defense him make him uncomfortable in the pocket, containing
- 49:42Speaker 4: they win, they win.
- 49:43Speaker 3: That's a fact. That's a fact.
- 49:46Speaker 4: So you know, and and when you start talking about
- 49:49Speaker 4: the goat if you face a defense, you know, because
- 49:54Speaker 4: I'm sure and I can't give you all the names.
- 49:56Speaker 3: There were some great quarterbacks during my era.
- 50:00Speaker 4: If you win against the Bears, your stature were gonna
- 50:04Speaker 4: change that day, and you were gonna get hit. Often,
- 50:09Speaker 4: you're gonna get hit, even if you got the ball off,
- 50:12Speaker 4: they'll take that fifteen and and and.
- 50:16Speaker 3: So I think to.
- 50:18Speaker 4: Make the point of in those type of errors, it's
- 50:22Speaker 4: it changes because I don't know if any quarterback today
- 50:27Speaker 4: could really face the defenses back in the day just
- 50:31Speaker 4: because they were just they were agressed and the rules.
- 50:35Speaker 6: The quarterbacks protected. It's not what it was, right.
- 50:37Speaker 4: And we haven't talked about Lebron James Lebron. That's true
- 50:42Speaker 4: because he's definitely I mean, is he is Steph? I
- 50:45Speaker 4: mean is he I'm a definitive goat of his air.
- 50:49Speaker 4: I think he I definitely think that you have to
- 50:52Speaker 4: put him as as the goat because of.
- 51:01Speaker 3: His play.
- 51:03Speaker 4: And I really it and it pains me to really
- 51:06Speaker 4: say that, but forever.
- 51:10Speaker 5: Like so, it's like that, I mean, I just I
- 51:15Speaker 5: can't remember the NBA without him, to be honest, It's
- 51:17Speaker 5: like we went from Michael Jordan to Lebron And that's
- 51:21Speaker 5: how it feels to me anyway.
- 51:22Speaker 6: But because how many years has he been in the league,
- 51:24Speaker 6: I mean.
- 51:27Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think to your to your point, I
- 51:29Speaker 4: think twenty two that long. That longevity, I think, and
- 51:34Speaker 4: starting at at a young age and that longevity and
- 51:38Speaker 4: still still playing, still playing at a high level, at
- 51:41Speaker 4: a high level. I think that that speaks volumes and
- 51:44Speaker 4: speaks volumes over any and everybody else in the era
- 51:49Speaker 4: that in this air. But and he took that Cleveland team,
- 51:53Speaker 4: came one player off that team, and he took that
- 51:56Speaker 4: team more in the championship. I mean when you talk
- 51:59Speaker 4: about player put that team on his back, he said,
- 52:05Speaker 4: and that was not a great team. About how young
- 52:10Speaker 4: was he there?
- 52:10Speaker 6: Don't that ten years ago, fifteen years ago, he was
- 52:14Speaker 6: a younger, So.
- 52:14Speaker 3: He was he was, Yeah, he was much younger. Yeah,
- 52:17Speaker 3: he was much as younger. Yeah.
- 52:21Speaker 4: But I think as he's gotten older, I think he's
- 52:24Speaker 4: realized that he needs help.
- 52:27Speaker 6: The Lakers realize that obviously, you know.
- 52:29Speaker 4: And I think I think he's he's gone to teams
- 52:32Speaker 4: or been part of teams that have had multiple players
- 52:35Speaker 4: that when he was young. I mean, he did that
- 52:37Speaker 4: prior to winning the championship in Cleveland so far as
- 52:40Speaker 4: going to Miami. But I'm saying coming back and winning
- 52:43Speaker 4: with that squad, that.
- 52:45Speaker 6: Was that was that was remarkable. I remember that.
- 52:49Speaker 3: So he is okay. So let's say you take Lebron,
- 52:52Speaker 3: He's he's the goat? Okay? Is it anybody else that staff?
- 52:57Speaker 3: I mean, I would.
- 52:58Speaker 4: I would again when we talk about championship moments, when
- 53:02Speaker 4: we talk about somebody who changed the complexion of the game,
- 53:07Speaker 4: Steph Curry changed the He changed basketball. When you look
- 53:11Speaker 4: at like what's going on for good or bad? LI
- 53:13Speaker 4: like it, love it, hate it. This is a result
- 53:16Speaker 4: of Steph Zeph Curry. So it's it's I think people
- 53:20Speaker 4: don't want to admit that, or maybe they'll try to,
- 53:24Speaker 4: you know, say Steph Ris kind of started a little
- 53:27Speaker 4: bit after Lebron's but I'm just saying this era, you
- 53:29Speaker 4: gotta mention them two to me in my opinion, So
- 53:33Speaker 4: it be kind of wanted to want a one b
- 53:36Speaker 4: if it is it the the best all around player
- 53:40Speaker 4: as a goat and the best shooting player as a goat.
- 53:45Speaker 3: Nah, because I was.
- 53:46Speaker 4: I mean, Stephanie won championships. They both want champions. Stephans
- 53:50Speaker 4: four to oh in the championship.
- 53:52Speaker 6: I understand the impact on the game. He changed it.
- 53:56Speaker 6: He changed the look of the game.
- 53:58Speaker 4: But but but can you I'm just trying to make
- 54:01Speaker 4: the trying to make a difference between the two. Lebron
- 54:06Speaker 4: is just an all around kind of player inside outside.
- 54:10Speaker 3: You know, Steph is a shooter.
- 54:15Speaker 4: See I would argue that because people think that, but
- 54:19Speaker 4: there's never been a combination of a person who has
- 54:22Speaker 4: that degree of handles and can shoots. And I think
- 54:26Speaker 4: that's the missing piece of what people don't talk about
- 54:27Speaker 4: with Steph, because Steph is not like a Reggie Miller
- 54:30Speaker 4: where he has to run around and try to get open.
- 54:32Speaker 4: He can actually create his own shot off the dribble,
- 54:36Speaker 4: and I think that's the part that people like that.
- 54:38Speaker 4: That's what makes them impossible to defend. In addition to
- 54:42Speaker 4: the range, So I think when you're looking at a
- 54:44Speaker 4: person who not only gave us the range for shooting
- 54:48Speaker 4: the ball from beyond the arc, but also can create
- 54:51Speaker 4: their own shot where they have the dribble and the
- 54:53Speaker 4: shot together, and that's just I mean, it's just it's
- 54:58Speaker 4: not something normally seen in basketball.
- 55:00Speaker 3: When you now when you look at Magic.
- 55:01Speaker 4: Okay, So to that I was thinking, I was when
- 55:04Speaker 4: you was talking about that, I was the first name
- 55:07Speaker 4: came in my mind was Magic.
- 55:09Speaker 3: Okay.
- 55:09Speaker 4: So now when you start talking about that, Magic had
- 55:12Speaker 4: the handles, he had the passing, he could, he could
- 55:16Speaker 4: shoot inside outside, the name, and he.
- 55:20Speaker 3: Had a championship and he had a championships. That's what
- 55:23Speaker 3: I'm saying. So you could argue that too, I mean.
- 55:25Speaker 4: Because he he's a bigger version of a different different
- 55:30Speaker 4: skills than Steph Man.
- 55:34Speaker 3: Nah, those are two different players. What about Larry Bird, Yes,
- 55:37Speaker 3: you put it championships. You put him in there too.
- 55:41Speaker 4: Well, let's ask this question, does it take well, yes,
- 55:46Speaker 4: I think there's definitely more, especially a basketball Yeah, but
- 55:50Speaker 4: those in basketball, it's those players who can do all
- 55:55Speaker 4: of it, a combination of well rounded basketball player. I
- 56:00Speaker 4: think in basketball, in order to be a goat, you
- 56:03Speaker 4: have to because of so many great and good players.
- 56:05Speaker 4: Because even like in this era, Kevin Durant's a great player,
- 56:07Speaker 4: I wouldn't consider him a goat of any air. I
- 56:09Speaker 4: wouldn't consider him to go to this era. But I
- 56:11Speaker 4: think in basketball in particular, you gotta kind of change
- 56:14Speaker 4: the game a little bit in order to be in
- 56:17Speaker 4: the goat conversation.
- 56:18Speaker 3: It's not good enough that you're just good.
- 56:20Speaker 4: Like I think Shack Right was a goat because he
- 56:23Speaker 4: was nobody's We never see anybody that big, that mobile,
- 56:27Speaker 4: that skilled ever played darn there any sport. So you
- 56:32Speaker 4: gotta be able to like change the game a little.
- 56:34Speaker 3: But I think that I think I think that is.
- 56:37Speaker 4: I think those players, those basketball players who come in
- 56:43Speaker 4: who have all of those skills, I think that they
- 56:45Speaker 4: do change.
- 56:46Speaker 3: I do think that they do change the game.
- 56:48Speaker 4: I think that that would be the one sport that
- 56:50Speaker 4: I think could be very difficult because again, when you
- 56:54Speaker 4: look at Kareem and you look at just just the
- 56:57Speaker 4: sky hook. Yeah, but I don't think you the game
- 57:00Speaker 4: because he the only one who did it, and they
- 57:01Speaker 4: ain't been really done since. But he dominated with it.
- 57:04Speaker 4: He dominated with it, but he didn't change the game
- 57:06Speaker 4: with it.
- 57:07Speaker 3: I think he changed.
- 57:09Speaker 4: I think he did. I think I think he did it.
- 57:13Speaker 4: You can't change the game, and nobody do it. Everybody
- 57:16Speaker 4: tried to mimic Jordan. Everybody's trying to be mixed.
- 57:18Speaker 3: Steff.
- 57:19Speaker 4: Like to your point, you said this several weeks ago
- 57:21Speaker 4: when you look at Maggie Johnson. Now you got the
- 57:23Speaker 4: big man playing the point guard and playing out front them.
- 57:26Speaker 3: Guy's changed the game.
- 57:28Speaker 6: So that's the main. So what you're saying is championships
- 57:31Speaker 6: number one.
- 57:32Speaker 5: Let's ring number one, number one, impact on game number two,
- 57:36Speaker 5: impact on the games the second.
- 57:38Speaker 3: I would say that, yes, impact on the game.
- 57:40Speaker 6: Okay, So where where do you think records? Lands and legacy.
- 57:44Speaker 3: Individual records think those are after that?
- 57:47Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 57:47Speaker 4: I think that because you may not have records, but
- 57:50Speaker 4: you can still change the game, and you.
- 57:51Speaker 6: Can still have a legacy. People will remember who you
- 57:53Speaker 6: are in your name. I look at Dennis Rodman.
- 57:55Speaker 3: I mean legacy is kind of a combination of all that.
- 57:58Speaker 4: Okay, But I would definitely say championship, your impact on
- 58:01Speaker 4: the game, your it probably your impact outside of the game,
- 58:04Speaker 4: like what you did to impact the game, Like did
- 58:07Speaker 4: you bring eyes to it that wouldn't normally come like
- 58:10Speaker 4: Muhammad Ali? Right, then you could look at records, then
- 58:13Speaker 4: legacy and different things.
- 58:14Speaker 3: Of that nature.
- 58:14Speaker 4: Well, if switching back to Muhammad Ali, when you when
- 58:18Speaker 4: you start talking about bringing eyes to it, I don't
- 58:21Speaker 4: know if anybody brought any more eyes to it than
- 58:26Speaker 4: Muhammad Ali. And I would agree with you, you know
- 58:29Speaker 4: now if you want to talk about it. Yeah, yeah,
- 58:32Speaker 4: he's he's still in the conversation. And you know, you
- 58:34Speaker 4: look at Mike Tyson. You know everybody was watching his
- 58:37Speaker 4: his fights with the idea of it might only be
- 58:40Speaker 4: two rounds. But with Mike Tyson, what did you do
- 58:43Speaker 4: in championship moments? You didn't beat the vander Holyfield, you
- 58:47Speaker 4: didn't beat lennux Lewis, You didn't beat the premier fighters
- 58:51Speaker 4: of your era. So to me, he can never be
- 58:54Speaker 4: the goat.
- 58:55Speaker 6: But Rocky did Rocky.
- 59:04Speaker 3: And then on that we might hear get at it.
- 59:11Speaker 3: I think Lisa has stopped it. All right. We're har
- 59:16Speaker 3: ladies and gentlemen.
