  SPEAKER_00: Basically, you stop somebody and you stop them for just a very simple traffic violation.

  SPEAKER_00: Then all of a sudden, by the way that they're acting, the way the people in the car are acting, the way the people in the car are talking, then you start to see, you start to think, well, this is this is more than just this guy blowing through a red light.

  SPEAKER_00: So then you start to ask questions as a police officer.

  SPEAKER_00: And then you find out that the passenger is really nervous, sweating, side to side, lots of furtive movements.

  SPEAKER_00: Do you need some help?

  SPEAKER_00: What's going on?

  SPEAKER_00: And then they blurt it out.

  SPEAKER_00: They say, No, no, they're not mine.

  SPEAKER_00: The drugs aren't mine.

  SPEAKER_00: And then there you go, right?

  SPEAKER_00: Now you have more, you have extra information, and all you really wanted to do is write a ticket.

  SPEAKER_00: You would be surprised how often that happens.

  SPEAKER_00: Or you stop somebody and they forget that they have a gun in the car.

  SPEAKER_00: And as you're up there as the police officer making contact with a person just for blowing a stop sign, you're looking, and of course, we have to look everywhere in which a person's able to reach for safety, because you don't know.

  SPEAKER_00: You know, somebody can, you know, be there to kill you.

  SPEAKER_00: That could be the whole purpose.

  SPEAKER_00: Not all traffic stops, of course, are going to end up in death.

  SPEAKER_00: But, you know, so you're looking around the car and then you see the butt of a revolver or the front part, the front chrome part of a pistol, or the end of a barrel, or something like that.

  SPEAKER_00: And then it's all guns up, it's all calling in the world, it's all everything else, depending on where you are.

  SPEAKER_00: Maybe having guns is part of your state's ethos.

  SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's okay.

  SPEAKER_00: In California, it was just really rare.

  SPEAKER_00: Whenever I travel outside California and I see people carrying firearms, it's it's just an odd thing to see because you're just not conditioned to see it that way.

  SPEAKER_00: Just because there's very few CCWs out here that conceal weapons permits and everything.

  SPEAKER_00: But in all cases, my recommendation, and this is what we we explain to people in our classes, especially if you have to go to traffic school class or whatever it may be, make sure that your hands are visible.

  SPEAKER_00: Make sure you have them in the clear view of the officer.

  SPEAKER_00: Now, ultimately, I know that you see all these contests online of people not going to roll down their window.

  SPEAKER_00: You know, you don't have to roll down your window, just need to be able to communicate with the officer.

  SPEAKER_00: And um, in the responses, I saw a great one yesterday.

  SPEAKER_00: A guy refused to give any information.

  SPEAKER_00: He kept saying that, I refuse to give you any information.

  SPEAKER_00: This is my license and registration, and a guy tried to still engage him in in speak, but again, this is my license registration.

  SPEAKER_00: You don't have to give up anything because the more you talk, it seems like, the more information in case that they might build against you.
