- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to a DM podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 2: We'll try to keep it as nice as we can,
- 0:05Speaker 2: but you might hear the occasional swear word in No Dribble.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Don't tell them.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hello and welcome to episode eleven of No Dribble. How exciting. Hey,
- 0:25Speaker 2: So this weekend, it has been a big weekend. We
- 0:28Speaker 2: saw eighteens become four on the sun Corps supernet Ball
- 0:31Speaker 2: Arena and surprisingly we have seen three become two in
- 0:34Speaker 2: the world of No Dribble hosts. So we had a
- 0:37Speaker 2: battle of wits and strength and only one host went home,
- 0:40Speaker 2: leaving only me, Carol and Swindell and.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm surprised I'm still here.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Has Cox. Actually, you know, more accurately, Liz has had
- 0:49Speaker 2: a little holiday and we will welcome her back when
- 0:51Speaker 2: she's back. But yeah, so we're sort of flying solo here.
- 0:54Speaker 2: As you know, Mandy left us last week. So it's
- 0:56Speaker 2: just like kids in a candy shop here, we're going
- 0:58Speaker 2: to press some.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Buttons and is can we address one thing? Oh straight away?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:05Speaker 1: So you know the Thunderbirds came in numero or no?
- 1:08Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, that's not that's not the bet.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Yes, it one hundred percent was. The bit was it
- 1:13Speaker 1: who would coming first up at the end of the rounds?
- 1:16Speaker 1: Wasn't it who won the No ghost writer, No, no, no, no.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I am scrunchy free in the wild.
- 1:23Speaker 2: I would like to point out, though, you know how
- 1:24Speaker 2: I said last week everything I predict in netbull has
- 1:27Speaker 2: gone wrong. Last week I said, I reckon the MAVs
- 1:30Speaker 2: can do it, and they got thumped by the fever,
- 1:32Speaker 2: didn't they nearly twenty points.
- 1:34Speaker 1: You need to just stay mute, I think on your
- 1:36Speaker 1: predictions for the sake of everybody.
- 1:38Speaker 2: I'm just wondering. Do I look different to you this week?
- 1:41Speaker 1: You look like you've got some more colors that what
- 1:43Speaker 1: I was supposed to say.
- 1:44Speaker 2: No, thank you? Do I look virtuous because I donated
- 1:47Speaker 2: blood on Saturday? And you know, I don't want to
- 1:50Speaker 2: toot my own horn, but I think that makes me
- 1:52Speaker 2: a good person. So I have done this thirty two times,
- 1:56Speaker 2: which is not many. There's people who've done it like
- 1:58Speaker 2: seven hundred times. So I'm setting myself a goal of
- 2:02Speaker 2: thirty seven by the end of the year. Because you
- 2:04Speaker 2: can donate whole blood once a quarter, but you can
- 2:06Speaker 2: donate plasma once a month. And I amo negative, which
- 2:09Speaker 2: is the You're welcome the universal donah. So whoever is
- 2:12Speaker 2: in need can have my blood. How much do they
- 2:14Speaker 2: take out of you at one time, I don't know.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Not enough to worry you. And you get to lie there.
- 2:18Speaker 2: You have a bit of a snooze if you want.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I left deliberately left my phone out of my hand
- 2:22Speaker 2: to just look around at the other do gooders in
- 2:24Speaker 2: the room, and the staff is so nice. And then
- 2:27Speaker 2: there's party pies and sausage rolls up, there's milkshakes. It's like,
- 2:30Speaker 2: it's great, we should go together. Let's go together. It's
- 2:33Speaker 2: so good.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Hate needles, No, I know I will do it that
- 2:37Speaker 1: I will do You'll be scrangey in the wild, not happening.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I will give.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Blood with you, all right, commit it about that?
- 2:42Speaker 1: Okay?
- 2:43Speaker 2: But I will say this feels it's better with three,
- 2:47Speaker 2: isn't it?
- 2:47Speaker 1: Agreed?
- 2:47Speaker 2: So, and I told you I did have a surprise
- 2:49Speaker 2: for you. We do have a special guest to join
- 2:53Speaker 2: us this week in Elizabeth Georgie. Well, there's been a
- 2:56Speaker 2: lot of speculation on social media as to who it
- 2:59Speaker 2: would be, and some interesting guesses. But what I would
- 3:04Speaker 2: like you to do is put on the mask please,
- 3:08Speaker 2: So it's not a gim mask. It's lovely. It's a
- 3:11Speaker 2: lovely in flight velvet mask that you can use. It's
- 3:14Speaker 2: got a nice spot for your eyes. It won't ruin
- 3:16Speaker 2: your eye.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Moud, how do we go?
- 3:18Speaker 2: All right, so we're going to do a little quiz.
- 3:19Speaker 2: This is someone who is known to you and known
- 3:21Speaker 2: well to you. So we're going to see how quickly
- 3:24Speaker 2: you can guess who our mystery guest is.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I go all right.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Our mystery guest is one hundred and seventy six centimeters tall.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Oh, Georgie's one seventy two.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Oh my god, yes she is. That's it's quite weird
- 3:39Speaker 2: that you know that, you know, Laura Sherran is the shortest.
- 3:41Speaker 2: She's one hundred and sixty seven centimeters.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Oh that's time.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I did did the research last night, just to see
- 3:47Speaker 2: if there was someone is short. Yeah. Well I knew
- 3:49Speaker 2: that everyone would be would be taller than me, but
- 3:52Speaker 2: I wondered who would have the shortest team. Oh no,
- 3:55Speaker 2: Kelsey Brown one hundred and sixty four centimeters.
- 3:57Speaker 1: So she's so, what's this person? One seventy eight, one
- 3:59Speaker 1: seventy six. That's cap short. Yeah.
- 4:01Speaker 2: When I asked Scrunchy or Ali spand our mystery guest
- 4:04Speaker 2: said Scrunchy was a wearer in my playing days. There's
- 4:08Speaker 2: another hint, Alice spand makes me feel like my head
- 4:11Speaker 2: is being strangled. So one hundred and seventy six and
- 4:15Speaker 2: a wido okay, and a strunk scrunchy. Okay. This person's
- 4:19Speaker 2: preferred netball position to play is center, but in brackets stupidly.
- 4:25Speaker 1: So so they like center being like control free but no, no.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Very socially adept, good planner, strategist. Come on, all right,
- 4:35Speaker 2: you're not getting Okay, let's go. We'll move on. They
- 4:37Speaker 2: are an aries if such things matter to you.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Oh, my dad's an aries. He's not a center though, yeah.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Okay, well we can rule him out there, okay, okay.
- 4:47Speaker 2: So question five was if you had four chickens, what
- 4:49Speaker 2: would you name them? And our mystery guests would name
- 4:52Speaker 2: them Elizabeth, Catherine Cherrell and Daisy.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Oh god, this is really hard.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Daisy, you're going to kick self when I tell you our.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Mystery guest he has totally thrown me.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Okay, well, let me tell you that that our mystery
- 5:05Speaker 2: guest has also done a lot of coaching. And Daisy
- 5:08Speaker 2: is the name our mystery guest uses whenever they are
- 5:10Speaker 2: coaching and giving an example of something works well until
- 5:14Speaker 2: a Daisy is in your group is the advice. So
- 5:17Speaker 2: all right, come on, you're going to get it at
- 5:18Speaker 2: this one.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:19Speaker 2: This person's drink of choice is a corona no lemon.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Hello God, Yeah, God, and welcome.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Holy guys.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Hi, thank you so much for helping us out.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Thanks for calling me a weird.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Okath appreciate this is I would not have tipped you
- 5:40Speaker 1: for a scrunchy wearer.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Well, it's only two choices.
- 5:44Speaker 3: True, I did wish did you?
- 5:47Speaker 1: I've seen you with the corn rows or the braids
- 5:49Speaker 1: or whatever once upon a time. So Gordy actually commentated,
- 5:53Speaker 1: correct me if I'm wrong. You were actually on air
- 5:56Speaker 1: with the tiny hair braids after being where prison.
- 6:04Speaker 3: I think it was my second stint in prison. Yeah.
- 6:07Speaker 4: No, I would have been Balley, me being a resident
- 6:10Speaker 4: of Bali and I can't believe that Channel ten as
- 6:13Speaker 4: it was then let me on air looking like that.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Can you believe it? Yeah? Gordy knows Barley like the
- 6:19Speaker 1: back of hands. So I should have tipped. I should
- 6:20Speaker 1: have got that together.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Oh this is so exciting. It's very exciting and it's
- 6:24Speaker 2: nice to have a representative from the West coast. We've
- 6:27Speaker 2: had one for the last two weeks, being me as
- 6:29Speaker 2: a temporary resident and honorary citizen of Western Australia. But
- 6:34Speaker 2: we actually have an actual citizen of Western Australia. And
- 6:37Speaker 2: my god, how much netball is there for us to
- 6:39Speaker 2: talk about this week? What about Lisa my Mi wearing
- 6:41Speaker 2: two scrunchies? Like that's a whole episode, isn't it.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Did she really? Yes?
- 6:44Speaker 2: Two like not so space buns? I think are up
- 6:47Speaker 2: high on the head. I don't know. She has the
- 6:49Speaker 2: two little low buns, very cute and two scrunchies. Oh
- 6:52Speaker 2: my god, no, it's great.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Make to run fast, ge She ran fast on the weekend,
- 6:56Speaker 4: so that works for it.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Good luck.
- 6:58Speaker 2: She's one hundred and seventy animeters tall.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Oh god, are we just doing the high thing? You're
- 7:03Speaker 1: really short, Gordy.
- 7:04Speaker 3: By the way, one seventy six is a decent.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Height, yes it is. No, it is to you, mate, Well,
- 7:10Speaker 1: but what are you one eighty seven?
- 7:12Speaker 2: I am that's just free. But you're an anomally Kate
- 7:15Speaker 2: Maloney is one hundred and seventy seven centimeters so she's
- 7:19Speaker 2: taller than you.
- 7:20Speaker 3: She's not. I stood next to her and an interviewed her.
- 7:23Speaker 3: She's smaller than me.
- 7:25Speaker 1: See players still fudging their centiment.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I just want you to know I've done minutes of
- 7:30Speaker 2: research on Wikipedia on this, so we should not be
- 7:33Speaker 2: relying on anything I have to say. But you know,
- 7:36Speaker 2: it's just to shit the shit, right. So I was
- 7:39Speaker 2: looking at was it Joe Western who you were saying
- 7:41Speaker 2: was playing wing defense at nearly one hundred and ninety
- 7:43Speaker 2: cent meters which pisces me right off because you know,
- 7:46Speaker 2: stick to Elaine people. But I wanted to ask, so
- 7:50Speaker 2: your story you told last week about having to do
- 7:52Speaker 2: the fifty goals and you got to forty eight and
- 7:55Speaker 2: you had a defender on you, Yeah, Joe Western, Joe Western.
- 7:58Speaker 2: I think that we need to actually reflect on that
- 8:00Speaker 2: story from her perspective too. So she wanted to go
- 8:03Speaker 2: to the sheds. But it's like, oh my god, we've
- 8:04Speaker 2: got hours of this girl having to get the bloody.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Ball and crewe.
- 8:07Speaker 1: But she was a rookie, so she would have been
- 8:09Speaker 1: frothing like that would have been I'm going to take
- 8:11Speaker 1: her down. Yeah, I want to make this as long
- 8:12Speaker 1: as possible. You know, well, that's just me doing my
- 8:15Speaker 1: Joe Western voice.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I'm going to take down the Queen.
- 8:19Speaker 3: No needs to be a bit high pitched for Joe.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Okay, do you want to do your Scottish accent if
- 8:24Speaker 2: she was Scottish? Do Joe Weston if she was Scottish?
- 8:27Speaker 1: This lass a don.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I did go on coach with Scottish team.
- 8:33Speaker 2: What I was about to say, wasn't Scotland one of
- 8:34Speaker 2: the national teams you worked with?
- 8:37Speaker 4: It was, and absolutely love them. Didn't understand a word
- 8:40Speaker 4: they said the entire time I was there. But great people,
- 8:43Speaker 4: bloody freezing plays. I've never been anywhere so cold, great music,
- 8:48Speaker 4: terrific music, good beers.
- 8:49Speaker 3: But not Corona.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Not so much on the salad.
- 8:53Speaker 4: So much, No, no salad. Didn't see a bit of
- 8:56Speaker 4: green insight, a lot of yellow high putting and potato.
- 9:02Speaker 3: The three piece.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Oh this is what we did off season, the particularly
- 9:07Speaker 1: the night after the last game of the season. We
- 9:10Speaker 1: would go out and you weren't allowed anything but the
- 9:12Speaker 1: yellow food groups. So it's beer, wine, champagne, chips, anything,
- 9:18Speaker 1: fry cheese. Yeah, yeah, there's no bananas inside, funnily enough,
- 9:21Speaker 1: but yeah, it's a good diet.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I used to do one. We're just food, starting with
- 9:24Speaker 2: sea so cheese, chips, chardonnay, carrots occasionally to kid yourself.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Yeah right, coke, coffee, coffee, coffee.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a pretty good one, isn't it. Not the coke,
- 9:35Speaker 2: but it's quite quite diverse.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Chocolate.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Oh, it's not a weight loss diet and it's not
- 9:42Speaker 2: a health seeking diet. It's more just a strange thing
- 9:46Speaker 2: to do.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Oh. I like that.
- 9:51Speaker 2: I didn't go to any netball on the weekend because
- 9:54Speaker 2: my daughter has hooping cough, which is now five day isolation.
- 9:57Speaker 2: But far out there was some netball on the weekend.
- 10:00Speaker 2: How good was I watched it all, so that was good.
- 10:02Speaker 2: We watched it from home. But yeah, we should talk
- 10:06Speaker 2: about the weekend. I reckon, did you have a.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Big crowd in Perth, because there was two sellout crowds,
- 10:11Speaker 1: one of them being in Sydney for seventh and eighth playoff?
- 10:14Speaker 1: Like our nuts is that in itself? But you guys
- 10:16Speaker 1: look like you had a massive crowd. The Adelaide crowd
- 10:19Speaker 1: was a sellout as well.
- 10:20Speaker 4: I would say that we'll see the league probably come
- 10:23Speaker 4: out and say it was the biggest crowd of around. Ever,
- 10:27Speaker 4: so with the sellout and Adelaide was over nine four hundred,
- 10:31Speaker 4: I think Perth had eleven eight hundreds.
- 10:34Speaker 3: It was huge.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Five birds sold out to say goodbye to Kim Yes,
- 10:38Speaker 4: and then you guys were sold out at kra If
- 10:41Speaker 4: you crowds have been insane, I don't know what's happened.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Something has happened. It's a shift, which is great for
- 10:47Speaker 3: the sport unreal.
- 10:49Speaker 1: And it was so good yesterday too because like I said,
- 10:52Speaker 1: like it's those teams not playing for finals. But it
- 10:55Speaker 1: just proved how much people love the game because it
- 10:58Speaker 1: was the last chance they got to see their heroes
- 11:00Speaker 1: action this season and they weren't going to miss it.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And I took my child and we were inside the
- 11:06Speaker 1: grounds before they opened the gate, so before there was
- 11:09Speaker 1: big lineups for the hair braiding stall and all that
- 11:11Speaker 1: sort of stuff. So we snuck in there and got
- 11:13Speaker 1: that done early. And then it seemed like a good
- 11:16Speaker 1: idea at the time to get a hair spray painted
- 11:19Speaker 1: with orange. That shit does not come out ah every well,
- 11:24Speaker 1: actually that's a lie. It came off on everything and
- 11:28Speaker 1: by the end of the day everything she'd been anywhere
- 11:30Speaker 1: near had orange. Stains on it. Don't do that.
- 11:34Speaker 2: It's like a cheap fake tan.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it was not.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Good saying that Harper wasn't overly invested in the game.
- 11:42Speaker 2: It's a great photo, isn't it.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Oh my god. So the idea was that we had
- 11:47Speaker 1: friends that were coming to the game, so when they
- 11:48Speaker 1: got there, they were going to text me and come
- 11:50Speaker 1: and get her and take it to her seat and
- 11:51Speaker 1: the stand. But they were late, like they didn't end
- 11:54Speaker 1: up getting there to write towards the end, at which
- 11:56Speaker 1: stage on working. So I couldn't even chat with them
- 11:58Speaker 1: and say come and get us. The poor things sitting
- 12:01Speaker 1: literally right behind me on a ripad. And I never
- 12:04Speaker 1: give her a device because if I need her to
- 12:07Speaker 1: be quiet for an hour or two hours right now,
- 12:10Speaker 1: she's sitting outside the door of the studio as we
- 12:12Speaker 1: do this, she will be completely invested in watching kids YouTube.
- 12:16Speaker 1: And that's what happened yesterday. Kids YouTube was obviously so good.
- 12:20Speaker 1: She did not care about ten thousand screaming fans and
- 12:22Speaker 1: a one goal game.
- 12:24Speaker 2: I think this reflects well on you. So, as one
- 12:28Speaker 2: of the greatest ever netball players, you have one child.
- 12:31Speaker 2: She's a daughter who plays netball, but clearly she doesn't
- 12:34Speaker 2: feel like I need to show that I am going
- 12:38Speaker 2: to make a career out of netball in order to
- 12:39Speaker 2: get my mother's approval. She goes, look, mom loves me.
- 12:42Speaker 2: This is my thing. You're letting her be her. I
- 12:44Speaker 2: think that's good, right, yes.
- 12:46Speaker 4: So the other thing I don't reckon Harper realizes is
- 12:49Speaker 4: how much money people would pay to be seated right
- 12:53Speaker 4: where half the I know.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I know, and she was facing the crowd, not even
- 12:59Speaker 1: the court.
- 13:00Speaker 3: I know, such a good photo when she's a little
- 13:02Speaker 3: bit older.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Only Gordy's going to have a chatter about that you
- 13:06Speaker 4: should do.
- 13:06Speaker 1: You can start changing to her now if you want
- 13:08Speaker 1: to me, I'll bring her in the.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Other one of the things I did notice though, and
- 13:14Speaker 2: this is now because it was a Swift's away game,
- 13:16Speaker 2: but it's actually in the sad stadium that they play in.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I haven't ever paid much attention to the opposition change room,
- 13:23Speaker 2: but it's like it's basically just you're out the back
- 13:26Speaker 2: beside the bins. If it's you're not in your own
- 13:29Speaker 2: if you're not the home team.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Right, yeah, Well, the problem with kra is that the
- 13:33Speaker 1: change rooms are Rosewall Arena. Yes, for those playing at
- 13:36Speaker 1: home are a substantial walk away. So at halftime, they
- 13:39Speaker 1: don't go to back to the change room. They go
- 13:41Speaker 1: out the back and they sit in these so they're
- 13:45Speaker 1: both in this kind of concrete, freezing place to have
- 13:48Speaker 1: their halftime chat. Which is fortunate that halftime it's not
- 13:51Speaker 1: just a walk.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Away, it's an uphill walk.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Remember remember the vision when the Giants and the Lightning
- 13:57Speaker 4: had their bark all at the end, and then the
- 14:01Speaker 4: game went on for another fifty or we waited fifty
- 14:04Speaker 4: something minutes, and I remember seeing the camera watching the
- 14:07Speaker 4: umpires coming like down the.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Like it was like massive escalator, Like it's such a
- 14:12Speaker 3: long walk.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy. That's why the game was delayed so long,
- 14:16Speaker 1: because it took them ticket out the.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Playing Oh we had a park on level five and
- 14:21Speaker 2: then the lift didn't come and I couldn't remember whether
- 14:24Speaker 2: we were by Meyer or David Jones entrance. There was
- 14:29Speaker 2: an amazing game though, the Swifts Giants game, I absolutely
- 14:32Speaker 2: love it. We will dwell on those who are going
- 14:35Speaker 2: through to the finals, but I really feel sorry for
- 14:38Speaker 2: the Swifts. For the Giants when I look at their
- 14:40Speaker 2: last four rounds, they have lost by a total of
- 14:45Speaker 2: ten goals in the last four games, so that's the
- 14:48Speaker 2: average of two and a half goals per game. The
- 14:51Speaker 2: Swifts in the last four rounds are negative thirty two.
- 14:54Speaker 2: The Mavericks are negative forty three. It's like, I just
- 14:57Speaker 2: I feel the Giants. It's like, man, you were so
- 15:00Speaker 2: close to having a different outcome at this back end
- 15:02Speaker 2: of the season so many times, and it just must
- 15:05Speaker 2: be heartbreaking for them, particularly that game that they were
- 15:07Speaker 2: leading most of the way. I was saying to my daughter,
- 15:09Speaker 2: I just don't think you should get too invested in
- 15:12Speaker 2: the Swifts having a win here. This is not this
- 15:15Speaker 2: is looking like the Giants game today. Once again, Carolyn's
- 15:19Speaker 2: prediction on netball proved to be one incorrect. Though.
- 15:23Speaker 3: What do you think, Kat, what do you reckon it
- 15:25Speaker 3: is with the Giants?
- 15:26Speaker 1: I don't know, honestly, because, as you say, they're in
- 15:31Speaker 1: it for so long. And we talked about this at
- 15:33Speaker 1: the start of the game yesterday in that maybe they're stale,
- 15:36Speaker 1: maybe they're predictable, and it just takes because they have
- 15:39Speaker 1: been together for a while. And maybe I think there
- 15:43Speaker 1: needs to be some changes at the Giants because they've
- 15:45Speaker 1: only got three off contract at the end of the season,
- 15:48Speaker 1: Julie fitzs Terra will be there. But I feel like
- 15:50Speaker 1: they do need a big facelift. They need a bit
- 15:52Speaker 1: of a refresh and something just to give them a
- 15:54Speaker 1: bit more of an edge going into next season. I
- 15:57Speaker 1: do feel like they've got quite predictable and that it
- 16:00Speaker 1: could be their downfall.
- 16:01Speaker 4: But the hardest thing is who though, right, So unless
- 16:03Speaker 4: you get some players from across the ditch, if that,
- 16:06Speaker 4: by chance happens, that's one of the tough predicaments for
- 16:09Speaker 4: sides that are going into recruitment now, because where are
- 16:12Speaker 4: you going to get your players from? But you know,
- 16:14Speaker 4: the thing for me with Giants is where I think
- 16:17Speaker 4: the concern is their inability.
- 16:19Speaker 3: To push the game on.
- 16:21Speaker 4: You say, they're losing by one or two, but they're
- 16:23Speaker 4: in moments where they can go three, four, five, six
- 16:25Speaker 4: up and they don't. And I think that's the issue,
- 16:29Speaker 4: is why is it that they don't have this ability
- 16:31Speaker 4: to surge and push score lines out? Yeah, and you know,
- 16:34Speaker 4: it comes down to just error. It's just poor decision
- 16:37Speaker 4: making an error.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Yeah, how's the supershot teams though? The two best in
- 16:41Speaker 1: the competition.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Last but but go though?
- 16:44Speaker 4: But then let's switch to the Thunderbirds, who have taken
- 16:48Speaker 4: the least number of supershots this season of any team.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Yeah, and look like they're going to go on and
- 16:52Speaker 3: win this thing.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Well and Fever too right like, not known for really
- 16:56Speaker 1: attacking the supershot too much, and probably the Vixens.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Yep ye shifted strategy a little bit in the second
- 17:04Speaker 4: half of the season.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Yeah, you've got to have at least one though that
- 17:07Speaker 1: can shoot them in case you need it. But it's
- 17:09Speaker 1: been really interesting to see that the ones that have
- 17:12Speaker 1: been putting them up, because obviously the more chance you
- 17:15Speaker 1: put them up, the more chance you have of missing
- 17:16Speaker 1: them and losing possession. Yeah, fascinating anyway.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Fascinating, But those are the two teams who we won't
- 17:23Speaker 2: be hearing anymore from for the rest of them, two
- 17:25Speaker 2: of the four, so obviously MAVs and fives for Mad Monday. Well,
- 17:32Speaker 2: what does netball Mad Monday look like? Oh, should we
- 17:34Speaker 2: go and get a facial and then maybe just have.
- 17:36Speaker 3: A No, no, it's no, no, no no.
- 17:40Speaker 2: It's not pissing in your own mouth and wiping your
- 17:42Speaker 2: feces on a hotel.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Room wall though, No, no, no, no, no, it's somewhere
- 17:47Speaker 3: in the middle. Somewhere in the middle.
- 17:50Speaker 4: I mean, Catherine's day might have been a little different,
- 17:52Speaker 4: but it's somewhere in the middle.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Which way was mine different? Was it towards her.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Description to you're always in the tour, so checking our
- 18:03Speaker 4: houris band in place?
- 18:04Speaker 1: Gordy knows I'm the biggest smoke bomber on the planet,
- 18:07Speaker 1: so much so. After we did the Commoth Games on
- 18:10Speaker 1: the Gold Coast, we had a night out after the
- 18:13Speaker 1: last game, and we're out, I think with England, England
- 18:15Speaker 1: had just won a day or out. We're having a
- 18:17Speaker 1: few drinks with them at the casino whatever, and then
- 18:20Speaker 1: I have the classic I'm just done. When I'm done,
- 18:23Speaker 1: I'm done, I need to go home, and so I'm like,
- 18:25Speaker 1: I'm just going to the bathroom. She knew what I
- 18:27Speaker 1: was up to and watched me the whole way, got
- 18:32Speaker 1: to the toilet, door walking, I got drink back out.
- 18:37Speaker 3: I've got used to it. I've got used to it.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Cap I get a stiff.
- 18:40Speaker 4: Neck watching you as you lead. And my problem is
- 18:43Speaker 4: when I'm done, I stay longer. Yes, I'm the opposite, regretting.
- 18:48Speaker 2: I've had a few kats when I was asking Gordy
- 18:51Speaker 2: for a couple of things to lead into my mystery
- 18:54Speaker 2: guest introduction, she said she actually wrote, but it's Kath
- 18:57Speaker 2: is great at disappearing on a night out. She literally
- 19:00Speaker 2: she literally gets everyone up and running and then does
- 19:02Speaker 2: the following the Irish exit, the French farewell, the Dutch goodbye,
- 19:06Speaker 2: the easy way to go home early. These catchy names
- 19:08Speaker 2: basically mean one thing, leaving the party without saying goodbye. I,
- 19:12Speaker 2: on the other hand, this being Gordy, have been known
- 19:14Speaker 2: to put my sunglasses on when leaving the pub or
- 19:17Speaker 2: the club. Is that so the CCTV can't identify you?
- 19:22Speaker 3: Well that as well because I can't do a third
- 19:24Speaker 3: stint in prison, so.
- 19:26Speaker 2: You've run out of hairstyles for that, I have no
- 19:30Speaker 2: can I get going?
- 19:31Speaker 4: I do get going. I have tried a couple of
- 19:34Speaker 4: times to leave with Cath, and I'm better for it.
- 19:36Speaker 4: The next day.
- 19:37Speaker 1: You're welcome.
- 19:38Speaker 4: I've got that little bit of life of the party
- 19:40Speaker 4: in me and I want to be an eighteen year
- 19:42Speaker 4: old again.
- 19:43Speaker 3: And go hard.
- 19:43Speaker 4: And then I've paid for it since I turned fifty,
- 19:47Speaker 4: so all of two years ago. It takes me two
- 19:50Speaker 4: weeks to get over anything.
- 19:51Speaker 2: And You just hate yourself, don't you, because it's like,
- 19:53Speaker 2: oh man, I know better than.
- 19:54Speaker 4: This, and I still have a corona for breakfast just
- 19:57Speaker 4: to see.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Every day or just the day after day.
- 20:04Speaker 2: There's other games of netball that happened over the weekend
- 20:07Speaker 2: other than the Giants and the Swift So I feel
- 20:09Speaker 2: like we should really be talking about what happened at
- 20:12Speaker 2: the top Light Cat. We will need to go back
- 20:13Speaker 2: next week. Look at the wager. I'm pretty sure it
- 20:15Speaker 2: was who will win the season?
- 20:17Speaker 1: No, well, in my head it was who was going
- 20:20Speaker 1: to come in first in the in the rounds, That's
- 20:23Speaker 1: what we're talking about at the time. Who was going
- 20:25Speaker 1: to be.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Who has a bed about the minor premiership?
- 20:27Speaker 3: You said that, who did you say?
- 20:28Speaker 1: I said thunder Birch, I said, I said a month
- 20:33Speaker 1: at home? Yeah yeah, they could be three weeks in
- 20:36Speaker 1: a row. In adelaid, yeah you right.
- 20:37Speaker 2: I am outraged though that they have to play at
- 20:39Speaker 2: the thirty Six's like they lose their home ground advantage.
- 20:42Speaker 2: It's like, for God's sake, that's so it's like we
- 20:45Speaker 2: knew this was coming, guys, Adelaide, What's going on? Why
- 20:48Speaker 2: would monster trucks get precedent over the sport that you
- 20:52Speaker 2: are having the Grand Final hosting the Grand Final of
- 20:55Speaker 2: the following week. I am outraged. I tell you.
- 20:57Speaker 3: I've got a question for you both.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Would you prefer your stadium to be taken over by
- 21:01Speaker 4: Monster Trucks or the Wiggles?
- 21:04Speaker 1: I think the Wiggles.
- 21:05Speaker 2: I've been in some Wiggles mosh pits before, though they're
- 21:09Speaker 2: not for the fainthearted, hectic. This was with the O G.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Wiggles though. That's how old my kids are. Well, that's
- 21:15Speaker 2: how old my son is. I didn't go with my daughter,
- 21:17Speaker 2: So now we've learned. Still we're going to miss that.
- 21:19Speaker 1: There's still one, isn't it? O G? Anthony? Yeah?
- 21:24Speaker 3: Wow?
- 21:25Speaker 2: Do you know? Murray the Red Wiggle liked our Instagram
- 21:28Speaker 2: post where it was you and Liz and that ridiculous
- 21:32Speaker 2: photo with that drama. Who was it? Let's not talk
- 21:33Speaker 2: about it. Let's move on. Dave Grohl on our No
- 21:35Speaker 2: dribble bit he liked it.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Murray Cook liked it. Stop.
- 21:39Speaker 2: I know.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Okay, I've got a wigged story. I don't know if
- 21:42Speaker 3: I want to tell it.
- 21:43Speaker 1: You can't do that. You have to tell it.
- 21:45Speaker 2: That's one of the rules of no dribble.
- 21:51Speaker 1: It's a safe space. It's not going anywhere.
- 21:54Speaker 2: If you don't feel safe, all you have to do
- 21:56Speaker 2: is still the umpire that you don't feel safe, and
- 21:58Speaker 2: we're going to take the piss out of you.
- 21:59Speaker 4: For the no, no, No, okay Blue Wiggles story. The Wiggles
- 22:03Speaker 4: used to be in a band called the Cockroaches, and
- 22:07Speaker 4: then when I was at the AIS as an athlete,
- 22:09Speaker 4: we went to see them play.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Oh this is awkward.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I need to get some popcorns.
- 22:19Speaker 3: You know.
- 22:20Speaker 4: I might have had a sneak pash with the Blue Wiggle.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Nice okay, And that's Subordian's week on.
- 22:30Speaker 1: That's a full mic drop.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Though it is great.
- 22:34Speaker 3: It was great.
- 22:35Speaker 2: My friends had Pete Murray play at their wedding because
- 22:38Speaker 2: he was just a gigging musician then just playing the
- 22:41Speaker 2: guitar in the pub and they hired him and he
- 22:43Speaker 2: was long before well no no, but one of the
- 22:46Speaker 2: one of the guests at the wedding had more than
- 22:49Speaker 2: pashed Pete Murray and was very complimentary about certain parts
- 22:53Speaker 2: of his body that were not obvious to the general public.
- 22:56Speaker 2: And it's like, this is this is someone's wedding. Stop
- 22:58Speaker 2: talking about the musical acts like a piece of large meat.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Wow, large meat. Who you can remember, Sir Gordion will
- 23:09Speaker 1: top all of our stories if we're heading down this path,
- 23:11Speaker 1: because not only have she it's bon Jovi right what wait?
- 23:16Speaker 1: And Madonna too, very big story. We might have to
- 23:20Speaker 1: leave one of them till next week next week? Did she?
- 23:23Speaker 2: Did she pass? John bon Jovi? And Madonna? Is that
- 23:26Speaker 2: where we're going.
- 23:26Speaker 3: With this Madonna?
- 23:28Speaker 1: I'd be idressed by both of those though me too. No,
- 23:30Speaker 1: the Madonna story is fantastic.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Madonna's a great one.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Next week next week, let's talk about some netball, and
- 23:41Speaker 2: I'm going to sit back and let the masters do
- 23:43Speaker 2: their bit, because all I can say is really how
- 23:45Speaker 2: tall everyone is? I do want to point out, though,
- 23:47Speaker 2: my god, Georgie Hornes, how what is she? One hundred
- 23:50Speaker 2: and seventy two centimeters? It's like, can you step from
- 23:52Speaker 2: wing attack into goal attack with no notice? And can
- 23:55Speaker 2: you shoot like it? Sure? I can't sure?
- 23:57Speaker 1: Sure?
- 23:57Speaker 2: That woman who's going to be defending you, she's a
- 24:00Speaker 2: full head taller than you. That's no problem for me.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I'm totally on the Georgie Horges bandwagon.
- 24:05Speaker 1: You know she at this point, she has got to
- 24:07Speaker 1: get picked for Australia. Surely they've not picked her in
- 24:11Speaker 1: the mid court, they've picked her in the shooting end,
- 24:13Speaker 1: but you can't ignore her.
- 24:16Speaker 3: I reckon, I agree, CAF.
- 24:18Speaker 4: The weekend for me was probably I haven't been fully
- 24:21Speaker 4: on the bandwagon until the weekend, when you know she
- 24:24Speaker 4: had to go in and hold the Thunderbirds together and
- 24:27Speaker 4: shoot some really important super shots under pressured moments, over
- 24:31Speaker 4: big hands. I just thought, she's just rock solid, this kid.
- 24:35Speaker 4: But the first thing she needs to do, and you
- 24:37Speaker 4: well know this, is she's got to go into the
- 24:38Speaker 4: diamonds environment and see how she fits with the diamonds
- 24:41Speaker 4: and that's going to be Marinkovich's first piece of the puzzle.
- 24:45Speaker 4: But I wouldn't be surprised to see her rolled out
- 24:47Speaker 4: in the England series. I'm not convinced the Constellation Cup,
- 24:49Speaker 4: but the England Series potentially this year.
- 24:51Speaker 3: I think she'll debut for Australia for sure.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's exciting.
- 24:56Speaker 2: There are a few people on social media who thought
- 24:58Speaker 2: that we had Georgie in as a mystery guest today,
- 25:00Speaker 2: but guys, she's busy. She's got Buddy Netball to focus on.
- 25:03Speaker 2: At the moment. I mean, so, I know you're busy too,
- 25:05Speaker 2: and we appreciate that, but yes we can't. We went
- 25:09Speaker 2: ever going to get Georgie Horges this week because the
- 25:11Speaker 2: Thunderbirds are in the finals. The Thunderbirds, Oh yeah, the
- 25:15Speaker 2: Thunderbirds are guy. So who we talk about? So they've
- 25:17Speaker 2: won the minor premiership? Do we talk about that game? First?
- 25:19Speaker 2: The Thunderbird's lightning very very frightening.
- 25:21Speaker 4: Me Galileo Galileo Lightning for me are on the move
- 25:26Speaker 4: and the West Coast even need to be very mindful.
- 25:29Speaker 3: This weekend Lightning were terrific.
- 25:30Speaker 4: They have a game plan I reckon that just stacks
- 25:33Speaker 4: up so well against the Thunderbirds and honestly, again Steph
- 25:38Speaker 4: Fretwell absolute genius, just masterminds and crafts her way around
- 25:41Speaker 4: that circle.
- 25:43Speaker 3: I think the.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Really intriguing part for the Lightning and they didn't have
- 25:48Speaker 4: Riley Batcheldor on the weekend.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Charlie Bell came in. Didn't work for them, But.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Conan hasn't shot a super shot all year and.
- 25:56Speaker 1: No one she missed it.
- 25:59Speaker 4: Yeah that's right, but potentially that could be their downfall
- 26:03Speaker 4: unless Riley Batcheldor comes on next week and can deliver
- 26:06Speaker 4: what's required. But yesterday I just thought that the Lightning
- 26:09Speaker 4: looked a different side. I feel like they're still working
- 26:11Speaker 4: out their defensive dynamic. But yeah, and then as for
- 26:15Speaker 4: the Thunderbirds, I thought, and I actually said this at
- 26:18Speaker 4: the time when I was watching it, this is going
- 26:20Speaker 4: to give us a really good insight to what Thunderbirds
- 26:22Speaker 4: will be like in finals, because they were challenged and
- 26:25Speaker 4: haven't been for quite a bit, and they found a
- 26:27Speaker 4: way through and it was through combination changes and really
- 26:31Speaker 4: well coached by Tanyaops. So Thunderbirds are hard to beat, Guys,
- 26:34Speaker 4: Thunderbirds are hard to be.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Oh good, Okay, I'm sticking with my burt.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Then yeah, look, I agree. I thought Lightning looked good
- 26:41Speaker 2: and it hadn't even occurred to me. Someone in commentary said,
- 26:44Speaker 2: Thunderbirds have got everything to play for here. It actually
- 26:46Speaker 2: doesn't matter to Lightning really what happens. By the time
- 26:49Speaker 2: that game started, it was like, look, let's not disgrace ourselves,
- 26:52Speaker 2: but we're not going to injure anyone. We're not going
- 26:54Speaker 2: to risk anything. We're either in Adelaide or we're in Perth.
- 26:57Speaker 2: We're definitely not at home. Same outcome for us. But
- 26:59Speaker 2: there were a lot for the Thunderbirds to play for
- 27:02Speaker 2: and it was not you know, it wasn't a thumping.
- 27:04Speaker 2: I thought Lightning looked really good.
- 27:06Speaker 1: You say there's a lot to play for, which is funny,
- 27:08Speaker 1: but they get a home final. Yes, but the minor
- 27:11Speaker 1: Premiership has been a curse. Statistically, teams don't go on
- 27:16Speaker 1: to win the Grand Final. The most Grand finals have
- 27:19Speaker 1: been one from the team that's coming second.
- 27:21Speaker 2: So that's Vixen's.
- 27:22Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, so Vixen's in the prime seat as
- 27:26Speaker 4: far as the stats are concerned.
- 27:27Speaker 3: But I'll tell you what, if I was a team
- 27:29Speaker 3: and I knew.
- 27:30Speaker 4: We were hosting the Grand Final, I'd be stoked to
- 27:32Speaker 4: be sitting at home and sleeping in my own bed
- 27:34Speaker 4: for the next month.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Although they're not at home next week, they're at a
- 27:39Speaker 2: totally different ground. They might as well have had to travel.
- 27:41Speaker 2: They do get to sleep in their own beds, but
- 27:43Speaker 2: that to me is a miss. But anyway, Vixen's who
- 27:47Speaker 2: buy history may well win the Grand Final. Vixen's they
- 27:51Speaker 2: played the Firebirds.
- 27:52Speaker 4: Yeah, that was the emotional game with Kim rebellion at
- 27:56Speaker 4: the end. That was an in a sobbing state as
- 27:59Speaker 4: you gie to the game. But the Vixens were just dominant,
- 28:03Speaker 4: although the fire Birds fought hard in that second half,
- 28:05Speaker 4: but Vixen's won that in the first half. And that's
- 28:09Speaker 4: important for them because had they have lost that game,
- 28:11Speaker 4: that would have been three losses in a row leading
- 28:14Speaker 4: into finals, which is not one. So important that they
- 28:17Speaker 4: got back on the winner's list.
- 28:19Speaker 1: And how emotional was Kim Valley. We saw a few
- 28:21Speaker 1: tears after the last games this round from her. Helen
- 28:25Speaker 1: Howsby broke down to the Swift's Giants game. I think
- 28:30Speaker 1: just the real impact of what had happened in the
- 28:33Speaker 1: team just came to the foe and came flooding out
- 28:36Speaker 1: of her. But I mean they were wrapped to get
- 28:38Speaker 1: the win, obviously, but very disappointed or not disappointed, emotional
- 28:41Speaker 1: about the season and how it went.
- 28:44Speaker 4: I think they'll be happy that season twenty twenty four
- 28:46Speaker 4: is over and they get to park it and the
- 28:49Speaker 4: media get to park it, and they'll go on their
- 28:52Speaker 4: recruitment journey whatever that ends up looking like, and they
- 28:54Speaker 4: will be worry about the Swifts next year.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Well.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Catherine Cox in commentary was making a very strong case
- 29:01Speaker 2: repeatedly for Unique Polavi to be signed by the Swifts
- 29:04Speaker 2: for next year, and what a cracking game she had.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Well, do you know what, at the start of the game,
- 29:08Speaker 1: I said, I'm not entirely sure she's the answer before
- 29:10Speaker 1: she played the game, and then she had an absolute
- 29:13Speaker 1: cracker You are right. So I was well and truly
- 29:14Speaker 1: on the bandwagon. But she's just showed a lot more
- 29:16Speaker 1: maturity in that game for me, and a sixty minute performance.
- 29:20Speaker 1: So she was fantastic.
- 29:22Speaker 2: She was great. So my daughter watching it, so we
- 29:24Speaker 2: see Unique p Lavi do her thing where she bounces
- 29:26Speaker 2: it off the post so she can get a little
- 29:28Speaker 2: bit closer my daughter. In the under elevens team I coach,
- 29:31Speaker 2: Can we do that? Absolutely not. We will never try
- 29:35Speaker 2: to do that in a team that I coach.
- 29:37Speaker 4: Because you know what had happened and this is this
- 29:39Speaker 4: is this would happen to me. I would bounce it
- 29:41Speaker 4: and completely miss the post for sure.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and you were even talking about that. It's quite
- 29:45Speaker 2: a narrow post, isn't it like it? And she did
- 29:47Speaker 2: it last week. It's like this is her. It's a
- 29:50Speaker 2: great little move. She had some real razzle dazzle yesterday
- 29:53Speaker 2: which was nice to see the other thing that I saw,
- 29:56Speaker 2: and a question for you two. So I saw the
- 29:58Speaker 2: Harrison hoist being used the giants in the circle there,
- 30:01Speaker 2: which is a legitimate move where the keeper lifts the
- 30:04Speaker 2: gold offense or vice versa get a little bit more high.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Can we just wait? We got to go back to
- 30:09Speaker 1: the name of this first, because the New Zealanders think
- 30:11Speaker 1: they invented it, but I reckon about ten years before that,
- 30:15Speaker 1: Liz Ellis and Ali Broadbent had a few drinks under
- 30:18Speaker 1: the belt at Jazz and the vines in the Hunter Alley,
- 30:21Speaker 1: and they thought they would try a rugby nine, right, okay,
- 30:26Speaker 1: because the coaching them through, Yeah, I've got a fall
- 30:29Speaker 1: of it, Ali lifting Liz up. So I think we
- 30:32Speaker 1: need to rename it because the Kiwis can't have credit
- 30:35Speaker 1: for that.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Okay, So the back to the Lizzie lift or the
- 30:39Speaker 2: ls elevation or the broadband.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Was off the back of a ard, So we'll think
- 30:46Speaker 1: of something.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Well, as far as I can see from my seconds
- 30:49Speaker 2: of googling, it is currently known as the Harrison hoist.
- 30:52Speaker 2: And I had just I just learned about this the
- 30:56Speaker 2: day before, and then I was exclaiming to my husband
- 30:59Speaker 2: and my daughter look at that. Let's rewind look at that.
- 31:02Speaker 2: And my daughter said, I fever did that when we
- 31:05Speaker 2: went to their game a couple of weeks ago. God,
- 31:07Speaker 2: is that something you can confirm or deny.
- 31:10Speaker 3: I think it did happen.
- 31:11Speaker 4: I think Katie and Dehini may have lifted Sunday Arianger.
- 31:15Speaker 4: I've got a feeling I can probably also confirm it's
- 31:18Speaker 4: not trained in the environment, So that was probably just
- 31:20Speaker 4: a little moment of reaction.
- 31:23Speaker 1: You don't train that.
- 31:24Speaker 3: No, we don't know. Oh no, we don't.
- 31:27Speaker 4: So but what I was going to say, though, is
- 31:29Speaker 4: go back to the giants. Let's be honest. If there's
- 31:32Speaker 4: a gold offense that you want to lift in the league,
- 31:33Speaker 4: and I meanly, but Jodian Maud you could pick her
- 31:36Speaker 4: up with one finger.
- 31:36Speaker 3: But seriously, she could fly.
- 31:40Speaker 4: So but you know what, it's as easy as you
- 31:43Speaker 4: think that the lift is. If you don't have any
- 31:46Speaker 4: effect on the lift, you're potentially putting yourself out of action.
- 31:50Speaker 3: For a rebound.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Yes, you've got to be really mindful of its benefit
- 31:53Speaker 4: at the time.
- 31:54Speaker 3: So I don't know. I'm half and half.
- 31:57Speaker 2: It is fun to see a little bit of razzle dazzle.
- 31:59Speaker 1: But it's true.
- 32:00Speaker 2: It's like, well, if you're going to make a mistake
- 32:02Speaker 2: with it and have a turnover, then just stick to basis. Well,
- 32:05Speaker 2: I like to see the one pointers in the last
- 32:07Speaker 2: five minutes. It's like, just take the short shot. Ye,
- 32:10Speaker 2: what's boring?
- 32:11Speaker 1: One pointer is boring?
- 32:13Speaker 3: Oh, Catherine, you're such a commentator.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Oh but they are, don't you think?
- 32:17Speaker 2: Now? I love I love what the super shot does
- 32:20Speaker 2: to the game. I love the element of unpredictability that
- 32:23Speaker 2: it does. But I also love to see teams going
- 32:25Speaker 2: we just got a steady and one point is better
- 32:27Speaker 2: than none, you know, like a bird in the hand. True.
- 32:30Speaker 2: So again, we can't do supershots at under eleven.
- 32:34Speaker 1: No, thank god.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Okay, dribblers, you know this. We do this every week
- 32:42Speaker 2: where we find who is the wind beneath our wings
- 32:45Speaker 2: from our community. But I just wanted to talk a
- 32:47Speaker 2: little bit about a few things that have happened in
- 32:49Speaker 2: our online community this week, and it's just it is
- 32:52Speaker 2: warming my half. So we have a member from Western Australia,
- 32:55Speaker 2: Jane hb. This is on the Facebook page. She put
- 32:58Speaker 2: a call out on the No Dribble page saying I've
- 33:00Speaker 2: just been given a ticket to a corporate box for
- 33:02Speaker 2: the Fever game. Would anyone like to use my ticket?
- 33:05Speaker 2: And Grant Hicks used her ticket, and I just thought,
- 33:07Speaker 2: what a wonderfully generous thing to do, and how fabulous
- 33:11Speaker 2: that the not Dribble community is being able to facilitate that. Yeah,
- 33:15Speaker 2: and I know each other, but you know, Grant got
- 33:16Speaker 2: an opportunity to go to this cracking game at this
- 33:19Speaker 2: cracking facility, and Jane went to the corporate box, so
- 33:22Speaker 2: she would have had the time of her life. I'm sure, Yeah,
- 33:25Speaker 2: go Jane, but don Dribblers. Yeah, well, Dondre, it was
- 33:28Speaker 2: really nice, thank you. And then Grant put up an
- 33:30Speaker 2: appreciation post for her. It's everyone's got such beautiful manners
- 33:34Speaker 2: monst Our School, but there's been some other great stuff too.
- 33:38Speaker 2: So Sue Mitchell put up a post of a group
- 33:40Speaker 2: of ladies gathered together for what looked like a lovely
- 33:42Speaker 2: afternoon team. And they've known each other for fifty eight years.
- 33:45Speaker 2: They have both they've played club and rep for Illawara,
- 33:48Speaker 2: and they get together regularly and maintain this fantastic friendship
- 33:52Speaker 2: and relationship that they have had for a long long time.
- 33:55Speaker 2: So that's sort of mid sixties. I guess, isn't it.
- 33:59Speaker 4: I saw that one and it pulled at the heart strings.
- 34:01Speaker 4: I think it's the heart and soul of while we
- 34:03Speaker 4: all play the game, isn't it those friendships and still
- 34:07Speaker 4: be drinking wine and chatting and unreal love?
- 34:10Speaker 3: That one well done.
- 34:11Speaker 2: There was another one too, from Susan Ansen, and I'm
- 34:13Speaker 2: part way through an unfinished research project on this in
- 34:17Speaker 2: that I've made contact with Susan to say I want
- 34:19Speaker 2: to know more. But she put a photo of her
- 34:21Speaker 2: mother in law's seventieth netball reunions. Oh I had the photo. Yeah,
- 34:26Speaker 2: so good, And so many people responded to this photo.
- 34:29Speaker 2: And it's the classic old school netball photo. Everyone's standing
- 34:31Speaker 2: up behind one another with the hands on each other's hips,
- 34:34Speaker 2: and they've recreated that photo and one of the members
- 34:38Speaker 2: is sadly not there anymore. So her son stepped into
- 34:41Speaker 2: the photo for and it just it's it's absolutely wonderful
- 34:45Speaker 2: to see that seventy years like, that's just and the
- 34:48Speaker 2: friendships stand from Yeah, even with the wing attack of
- 34:52Speaker 2: the Wing Defense Catherine, people are still friends with the
- 34:54Speaker 2: wing defenses and they're all looking back, which is interesting.
- 34:57Speaker 2: That was before Netbull started to exclude the short girl anyway,
- 35:02Speaker 2: But one of the most important things we do is
- 35:04Speaker 2: the Win Beneath Our Wings and this and every week
- 35:06Speaker 2: we look to get someone to nominate, someone who just
- 35:10Speaker 2: keeps our game going at a community level. And we
- 35:13Speaker 2: have been covering the country. We still we haven't got
- 35:16Speaker 2: every state and territory covered yet with our nominations. But
- 35:19Speaker 2: as you know our Nominate Tour, that's the person who
- 35:23Speaker 2: does the nominating gets a twenty five dollar voucher from
- 35:27Speaker 2: Printhy Wines and you will love that. And the nominee,
- 35:31Speaker 2: the winner of our Win beneath our Wings each week
- 35:33Speaker 2: gets a fabulous hand crafted scrunchy. Liz Ellis has been
- 35:38Speaker 2: to the sewing machine. She wasn't allowed to go on
- 35:40Speaker 2: holidays until she had done her bit in the scrunchy.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Making five does not account for doing her bit.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Yeah, well it's a start and they're made by the chair,
- 35:49Speaker 2: so and she was standing, so she wasn't even in
- 35:51Speaker 2: the chair at the time, so boom boom, Gordy, I'm
- 35:54Speaker 2: a comedian, you can tell that obviously. Anyway, Catherine, do
- 35:58Speaker 2: we have a Win Beneath Our Wings nominale before.
- 36:01Speaker 1: We get to it. You might have seen on socials
- 36:03Speaker 1: that one of the scrunches made its way to ken
- 36:05Speaker 1: Rosewellerena and was on the broadcast table. Yes, so I
- 36:08Speaker 1: took a photo that one I took for Julie Fitzgerald.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Did you give it to it?
- 36:13Speaker 1: Well? No, because they lost by one. Okay though, I'm
- 36:16Speaker 1: just going to back away slowly from that and I'll
- 36:18Speaker 1: find another time to give it to Julie. But my
- 36:21Speaker 1: intentions were.
- 36:22Speaker 2: There, yep.
- 36:23Speaker 1: So Julie Fitzgerald, your scrunchy is coming. You best grow
- 36:26Speaker 1: your hair before.
- 36:26Speaker 2: You get it.
- 36:28Speaker 3: What you going to do with the scrunchy exactly?
- 36:31Speaker 1: But I have to wear around the release a question.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Yes, that's right. You can wear it like a wrist
- 36:34Speaker 2: corsage with pride.
- 36:37Speaker 1: God, now you're showing your age corsarge.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Watch Happy Days.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Oh my god. Okay, so we've got one from Kathleen here, Hi,
- 36:45Speaker 1: Eddie team, I'd like to nominate my old Nettie mate,
- 36:47Speaker 1: Kelly Hamilton. She's been at the core of our Bundy's
- 36:50Speaker 1: netball team for over thirty years. Now. We don't know
- 36:53Speaker 1: where Bundy's Netball is, So Kathleen or Kelly if you
- 36:57Speaker 1: could let us know. That would be great.
- 36:59Speaker 2: It sounds like queen Land, doesn't it.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Yeah, well Bundy's Yeah, good bet. She is fifty years
- 37:04Speaker 1: old returning back to a team after rupturing an ACL
- 37:08Speaker 1: and has been involved in numerous coaching roles, coordination roles,
- 37:12Speaker 1: everything at the club and they wishing her a safe
- 37:14Speaker 1: return to the game after that ACL. So that's very cool.
- 37:17Speaker 2: That is amazing. Other people have returned to the game
- 37:20Speaker 2: after an ACL injury, haven't they.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Yes, And she did say that they took a lot
- 37:24Speaker 1: from Lizellis returning twice from an ACL, but I think
- 37:26Speaker 1: it's only once one ACL for Lizellis.
- 37:29Speaker 2: Well, Kelly Hamilton, you are the wind beneath our wings.
- 37:31Speaker 2: And if we could have a little bit more information
- 37:33Speaker 2: as to where the Bundy's Netbook Club is, I would
- 37:35Speaker 2: love to know more about that.
- 37:37Speaker 4: Do you think Bundy's is Bunderberg in Queensland or Bundy
- 37:40Speaker 4: the Drink.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Or if they named it just after their habits like
- 37:44Speaker 1: you would be Corona.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Back in your box, Gordon, I think that's all we've
- 37:52Speaker 2: got time for.
- 37:53Speaker 1: It's been good fun though, I loved having you on
- 37:55Speaker 1: so Gordion, I'm sorry it took me to question seven six?
- 37:59Speaker 1: Was it six? That's allowed? Corona will always give you
- 38:01Speaker 1: away though, that's.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Right, I am a dead giveaway on the Corona. Thanks
- 38:05Speaker 4: Liz for going away, how to blast girls, appreciate it
- 38:08Speaker 4: so great to have you here.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Will you come back next?
- 38:10Speaker 2: When did you come back next week?
- 38:12Speaker 4: I will and I might even get my voice back
- 38:14Speaker 4: next week, so that'd be lovely as and get rid
- 38:16Speaker 4: of this feeling.
- 38:17Speaker 1: And come alive, yay, watch out, Sue Gordion's coming alive.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Price yourself well, dribblers.
- 38:23Speaker 2: That is Sue Gordion and the Wild Wild West, who
- 38:25Speaker 2: has stepped into the chair of the chair this week,
- 38:28Speaker 2: and we thank her very much, and we hope that
- 38:29Speaker 2: Liz has a lovely holiday because God knows she's earned
- 38:32Speaker 2: it doing all of these unpaid jobs that take up
- 38:35Speaker 2: an enormous amount of time. That's Sue Gordion, Cups and
- 38:38Speaker 2: Carolyn Swindell and this has been no dribble. Hope you
- 38:41Speaker 2: have a fantastic week.
- 38:42Speaker 1: See your letter.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Job Bye.
