- 0:19Speaker 2: Hey.
- 0:19Speaker 3: It's got beautiful day to day. It's gonna be like
- 0:21Speaker 3: near ninety degrees a sunny day. It's gonna be ninety
- 0:25Speaker 3: five tomorrow. It's gonna be like ninety three on Wedterday.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Then it gets cold. Well for this time of year,
- 0:31Speaker 3: it's gonna be like in the seventy, then it's sixty,
- 0:34Speaker 3: then it's in the fifties one day, but it's Memorial
- 0:36Speaker 3: Day weekend coming up? Is that the right number? We
- 0:40Speaker 3: got him? Oh okay, I'm gonna talk to Jackie Martling
- 0:43Speaker 3: in just a second, the great comedian and I don't
- 0:47Speaker 3: forget Buck and Clay will be here at noon today.
- 0:50Speaker 3: They do a great show every day at twelve noon.
- 0:53Speaker 3: And Sean Hannity right after that. He was on the
- 0:57Speaker 3: China trip with the President the whole three four days.
- 1:00Speaker 3: So he'll tell the inside story of what happened there.
- 1:04Speaker 3: That should be pretty interesting. What happened with Jackie? Can't
- 1:07Speaker 3: get him answer? No, the phone keeps dropping. Cell phones
- 1:16Speaker 3: now in the good old days. If you went back
- 1:18Speaker 3: and listened to talk radio twenty years ago, it was
- 1:20Speaker 3: a landline and everything sounded perfect, everything was connected perfectly.
- 1:28Speaker 3: But hey, we got him. Jackie Martling is actually going
- 1:30Speaker 3: to be appearing a bunch of appearances August fifteenth. By
- 1:33Speaker 3: the way, he'll be at Soul Joel's in at Sunnybrook, Potsdown, Pennsylvania.
- 1:39Speaker 3: But the big thing is this Saturday night is a
- 1:42Speaker 3: Memorial Day weekend. This Saturday night, Jackie Martling, Rich Harkaway
- 1:47Speaker 3: will be at Rodney's. Now this is sixty first and first.
- 1:52Speaker 3: That's the old Dangerfields. It was Rodney Dangerfield's club, Dangerfields
- 1:55Speaker 3: for a million years. It's reopened, says as Rodney's. Jackie
- 2:00Speaker 3: Martling will be appearing there Saturday night. And he's with
- 2:04Speaker 3: us right now. Jackie Martling, how you doing.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I'm doing great, man, I am looking for it. You
- 2:09Speaker 2: know the last time I was actually at Rodney's club,
- 2:12Speaker 2: last time was at danger Fields. I was auditioning for
- 2:16Speaker 2: Bill Bogg's comedy Tonight. Do you remember that, yeah, nineteen
- 2:21Speaker 2: eighty five.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Well, I was in Dangerfields all the time, millions of
- 2:26Speaker 3: nights at Dangerfields. That was a great comedy club and Sunday.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Everybody in the business would go hang out there. And
- 2:33Speaker 3: Tony Bovaco was the partner with Rodney. He was the
- 2:36Speaker 3: real owner. And they don't make clubs like that the
- 2:40Speaker 3: old Dangerfields at the Maitre d had a tuxedo, they
- 2:43Speaker 3: had a trio, they had singers besides the comedians.
- 2:46Speaker 4: There's nothing like that right then.
- 2:47Speaker 2: The waiters were like old time New York City waiters
- 2:50Speaker 2: with the you know, with the napkin on their arm,
- 2:54Speaker 2: and they were rude and it was just so much fun,
- 2:58Speaker 2: you know.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, even back in the good old days,
- 3:01Speaker 3: like Catcherizing Star. People don't realize they had a piano
- 3:04Speaker 3: player and it'd be comedians and singers would perform there.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Yea, it was a whole damn show. You know, it
- 3:11Speaker 2: was so funny. I want to tell you say, you know,
- 3:13Speaker 2: I've been doing commercials for this pot place out here
- 3:16Speaker 2: on Long Island, Long Island Cannabis Club. And when I
- 3:20Speaker 2: was with Rodney in the nineteen eighty, you know, we
- 3:24Speaker 2: did a lot of drugs and a lot of drinking
- 3:26Speaker 2: and everything. And one of the funniest things, especially now
- 3:29Speaker 2: with pot being so legal, we were at the Baheamar
- 3:33Speaker 2: in his penthouse suite in Fort Lauderdale, and we're in
- 3:37Speaker 2: his room and we're out on his balcony smoking a joint,
- 3:42Speaker 2: and his sixteen year old daughter came in and she sniffed,
- 3:46Speaker 2: and she went, Daddy, you know, don't bug me, Melody,
- 3:51Speaker 2: don't bug me. I said, do you realize your sixteen
- 3:54Speaker 2: year old daughter just caught you smoking pot? It's supposed
- 3:58Speaker 2: to be exactly the opposite.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Yeah, Now, Jackie Marlin, let's talk about the real Rodney,
- 4:03Speaker 3: because everybody loves him, and we love him too. We're
- 4:05Speaker 3: not trying to put him down. But everybody looked at
- 4:08Speaker 3: him and he was seemed like a grandfatherly type of
- 4:12Speaker 3: wonderful man. But in the real Rodney was a rough
- 4:15Speaker 3: sort of a character. Was drugs.
- 4:17Speaker 2: No, No, he was a very very nice guy. The
- 4:20Speaker 2: way he lived to laugh a minute guy, you know
- 4:22Speaker 2: he was. He was really that down, down trodden guy
- 4:27Speaker 2: that he just didn't laugh a lot. But he's always
- 4:30Speaker 2: really nice to everybody and very generous. He was.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Oh yeah, no, no, but I'm saying he wasn't sitting
- 4:35Speaker 3: at home reading the newspaper like wow.
- 4:37Speaker 2: He is a wild man, a wild wild man.
- 4:40Speaker 3: There were drugs, that were women were hookers. There was
- 4:43Speaker 3: everything going on, tell the truth.
- 4:45Speaker 2: When I was with him, I would say, we checked
- 4:48Speaker 2: every box. Well, I'm gonna be there this Saturday night.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to it. I also I also just
- 4:56Speaker 2: booked a cruise man. Two of the Long Island comedians
- 4:59Speaker 2: are going to do Long Island commut Reunion cruise from
- 5:04Speaker 2: Fort Lauderdale starting on my birthday in February. I never
- 5:07Speaker 2: did one of those, like a week of you know,
- 5:10Speaker 2: telling jokes and hanging out with the crowd, and it's
- 5:12Speaker 2: already half sold out. I've never pursued it before and
- 5:16Speaker 2: I just kind of stumbled into it. So I'm I'm
- 5:19Speaker 2: very psyched, you know.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Yeah. No, it's a good thing. And a lot of
- 5:22Speaker 3: comedians now play the big, big cruise ships. It's like
- 5:24Speaker 3: the floating Las Vegas showrooms and you play these cruise ships.
- 5:28Speaker 2: And yeah, they've never hired me because I was too dirty.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Somehow they got me my own boat, so I can
- 5:33Speaker 2: say whatever I want.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Hey, are you gonna get he that way? You're gonna
- 5:37Speaker 3: be at Rodney's this Saturday night. It's the old Dangerfields.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I haven't been in there. Does it look the same
- 5:42Speaker 3: or they redo it.
- 5:43Speaker 2: From what I could tell, it looks exactly the same.
- 5:46Speaker 2: You know, they were. It's been going for a while.
- 5:50Speaker 3: You know.
- 5:50Speaker 2: The last time I was in there, before the time
- 5:53Speaker 2: with Comedy Tonight was I was sitting there in the
- 5:56Speaker 2: audience when Rodney recorded No Respect, which was his first
- 6:00Speaker 2: LP in nineteen eighty, a long time ago. But I'm
- 6:05Speaker 2: sure it looks the same. It was set up perfectly.
- 6:08Speaker 2: It was a perfect comedy club, you know, really dark,
- 6:11Speaker 2: good sound system, nice sliding on the stage. You know
- 6:15Speaker 2: it'll be great.
- 6:16Speaker 3: They got to bring back Bob, remember the major D. Bobby,
- 6:18Speaker 3: the big tough matre d.
- 6:20Speaker 2: I think they're still trying to dig a hole to
- 6:23Speaker 2: bury him. He was so big.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Number Teddy, the bartender who was there for a million years.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yeah, he was Asian Asian guy.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Yeah, they got to bring it. Well.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Tony's still alive. I see if I could rustle him
- 6:37Speaker 2: up to come, and he's like ninety three or something.
- 6:39Speaker 3: He's a great guy who lives in Long Island. Tony
- 6:41Speaker 3: Bovaca was the guy that ran Dangerfields and it was
- 6:43Speaker 3: quite a club. And remember that was the big prom
- 6:45Speaker 3: club that prom season to'd be a million white lemons.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah, the comedians hated that. When the kids came in
- 6:50Speaker 2: at four o'clock in the morning, dead drunk and throwing
- 6:53Speaker 2: stuff at him. It was a hell gig, you know.
- 6:56Speaker 2: And I think it was like forty bucks, I mean,
- 6:59Speaker 2: you know, And I was lucky enough to sidestep that,
- 7:01Speaker 2: Alrightletta some jokes. So a guy is just waking up
- 7:06Speaker 2: from anesthesia and his wife is sitting there looking at him,
- 7:09Speaker 2: and he blinks and he says, is so beautiful. And
- 7:14Speaker 2: then he falls back asleep and she stays there and
- 7:16Speaker 2: a couple of minutes later he opens his eyes again
- 7:19Speaker 2: and he says, you're cute. She says, what happened to beautiful?
- 7:23Speaker 2: He says, the anesthesia is wearing off. So why is
- 7:32Speaker 2: the middle part of a woman called a waste?
- 7:37Speaker 3: I hate to ask why.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Because you can sit another boobs there. So three three
- 7:46Speaker 2: criminals are in front of a cross eyed judge. Three
- 7:49Speaker 2: criminals are in front of a cross eyed judge. The
- 7:52Speaker 2: cross eyed judge says, the first guy, how do you plead?
- 7:55Speaker 2: The second guy says, not guilty.
- 7:58Speaker 4: The judge looks at him and says, I wasn't talking
- 8:00Speaker 4: to you. The third guy says, I didn't say anything.
- 8:06Speaker 4: So a guy comes in, Oh, oh, yeah, I was choked.
- 8:15Speaker 4: A lady comes home and finds her husband in bed
- 8:18Speaker 4: with a female dwarf. She says, eh, two weeks ago,
- 8:23Speaker 4: you promised me you'd never cheat on me again. He says, well, honey,
- 8:26Speaker 4: you must admit I'm tapering off.
- 8:32Speaker 2: So A guy says to his friend, last year for
- 8:35Speaker 2: our anniversary, I took my wife to Alaska. His friend says,
- 8:38Speaker 2: what are you going to do this year? He says,
- 8:40Speaker 2: I'm thinking I might go back and get her. Here's
- 8:47Speaker 2: one you won't like. Why should you never circumcise a camel?
- 8:53Speaker 2: Why see, I have a place to put your gum
- 8:57Speaker 2: in a sandstorm?
- 8:59Speaker 1: Whoa?
- 9:02Speaker 2: So a guy knocks on the door and the kid answers.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Guy says, kid, where's your mother? He says she's out
- 9:08Speaker 2: back getting it homored a goat. The guy can't believe it.
- 9:12Speaker 2: They go out back, and sure enough, there's the kid's
- 9:13Speaker 2: mother and she's getting it on with a goat. He says, kid,
- 9:17Speaker 2: doesn't that bobby you?
- 9:18Speaker 3: He says, nah, Hey, So you go see Jackie. He's
- 9:26Speaker 3: going to be what used to be danger fields, it's
- 9:29Speaker 3: now called Rodney's. It's this Saturday Night, This Saturday night.
- 9:32Speaker 3: It's gonna be Labor Day weekend, eight o'clock Saturday night,
- 9:35Speaker 3: and it's one show.
- 9:37Speaker 2: The Memorial Day weekend.
- 9:38Speaker 3: You're getting old, Oh, Memorial Day weekend, Memorial Day WEEKNK.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yeah, don't rob me out of the summer for Christ's sake.
- 9:45Speaker 3: All right, Well, this Saturday's Memorial the weekend. Saturday Night
- 9:49Speaker 3: Rodney's used to be Dangerfields. It's sixty first and first.
- 9:53Speaker 3: That's gonna be quite niced. And it's good to go
- 9:56Speaker 3: back there. It's good to see somebody who really played
- 9:58Speaker 3: the real Dangerfields too.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I love it. And my opening act Rich Harkaway,
- 10:05Speaker 2: like he played there a long time ago. So it's
- 10:07Speaker 2: like a whole coming home thing. And know a lot
- 10:09Speaker 2: of old fires are coming, you know, a whole bunch
- 10:12Speaker 2: of people. So I'm looking forward to it.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Think. So Saturday Night Rodney's go online. You can get
- 10:17Speaker 3: all the information. Uh, what's your website. It's Jokeland dot com.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Joke Land dot com, and you can go all right,
- 10:25Speaker 2: so I got one more for you.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 10:28Speaker 2: So an old couple's having trouble remembering things. So the
- 10:31Speaker 2: doctor tells him they should start writing notes to help
- 10:34Speaker 2: them remember. So one night they're watching TV and the
- 10:37Speaker 2: old guy gets up and his wife says, hey go
- 10:40Speaker 2: and he said, I'm going to the kitchen. She says,
- 10:43Speaker 2: will you get me some.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Vanilla ice cream?
- 10:46Speaker 2: He's all right, She said, don't you think you should
- 10:48Speaker 2: write it down? I don't have to write it down
- 10:51Speaker 2: vanilla ice cream. She said back, did I have some
- 10:54Speaker 2: strawberries and whipped cream on it? He's all right, don't
- 10:59Speaker 2: they give it? Write it down? Is I don't have
- 11:01Speaker 2: to write it down? Vanilla ice cream with rawberries and
- 11:05Speaker 2: whipped cream. Twenty minutes later, he walks in the hands
- 11:08Speaker 2: or a plate of bacon and eggs. She says, you
- 11:11Speaker 2: forgot my toast. Hello to the boys at Baybel Seafood.
- 11:18Speaker 2: It is Memorial Day weekend. I already ordered forty pounds
- 11:21Speaker 2: of shrimp. It's gonna be a great weekend.
