- 0:01In his play Hamlet, William Shakespeare comments on the
- 0:05limitations of the objective mind and its ability to
- 0:08understand existence. There are more things in heaven
- 0:11and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
- 0:17Our mind's view of the existence of the universe and its
- 0:20significance is blinded by our reliance on what we can observe
- 0:24with our senses and our ability to correctly organize and
- 0:30interpret what we perceive. We thus believe that the
- 0:34universe is some vast mechanical location, and while material
- 0:39energies are at work, it is a vacant Dead Space without any
- 0:45essential meaning other than as the backdrop of our own lives on
- 0:50a minor planet in a minor solar system, in a minor arm of a
- 0:55minor Galaxy in one corner of the vast universe.
- 1:01Some modern thinkers have alternatively likened the
- 1:05universe to a type of hologram within which we play act our
- 1:10existence. In the Bhagwad Gita, Sri Krishna
- 1:15describes for Arjuna the action of the time spirit.
- 1:20It is clear from his statement that there is a pervasive,
- 1:23active consciousness in the universe that creates, guides,
- 1:28controls, and develops the rolling out of the
- 1:31manifestation. It is our limitation of
- 1:35perception and understanding that prevents us from
- 1:38experiencing and interacting with the consciousness
- 1:43throughout all forms, beings, entities, and indeed the entire
- 1:49universe in its own right. In the Titeria Upanishad, there
- 1:55is a fascinating passage that recounts levels of conscious
- 1:58awareness above that of the human mind as it describes the
- 2:04measure of bliss of each successively more refined
- 2:07conscious being. We term these beings with higher
- 2:11levels of conscious awareness, angelic beings, gods, demigods
- 2:18or creators. The Rigveda in Mandala 10, Sukta
- 2:23129 briefly describes the levels of consciousness and their
- 2:27respective role in the creation. There were castors of the seed,
- 2:33there were greatnesses, there was self law below, there was
- 2:39will above. A disciple asks is time only
- 2:45subjective or it is something concrete like a personality?
- 2:52The mother writes, quote all forces are personal.
- 2:57All things in nature are personal.
- 3:00But if we consider them as impersonal things, our relation
- 3:04with them is impersonal. Take for instance what has just
- 3:08happened. If you are a meteorologist and
- 3:12have calculated all the wind currents and all that and say,
- 3:16given that this has happened, that will happen and there will
- 3:19be so many days of rain and all that.
- 3:22So this is a force for you which we are compelled to call a force
- 3:26of nature. And you can do nothing about it
- 3:29except look on quietly and wait for the number of days to pass.
- 3:34But if it happens that you have this personal relation with the
- 3:38little conscious entities which are behind the wind, behind the
- 3:43storm, behind the rain, the Thunder, behind all these
- 3:47so-called forces of nature, which are forces and personal
- 3:52forces. If you have a personal relation
- 3:55with them and can create a kind of friendship through this
- 3:59relation, instead of considering them as enemies and inexorable
- 4:04mechanisms which you have to put up with without being able to do
- 4:08anything, perhaps you could manage to establish a slightly
- 4:13more friendly relation and have an influence over them and ask
- 4:17them why do you feel like blowing and making the rainfall,
- 4:22Why don't you do it elsewhere? And with my own eyes I have
- 4:26seen, I have seen this here, seen it in France, seen it in
- 4:33Algeria, the rain falling at a particular altogether fixed
- 4:38place. And it was actually exactly a
- 4:42place where it absolutely needed to rain, because it was dry and
- 4:47there was a field which needed watering.
- 4:49And at another place there was at a distance from here to the
- 4:54end of the hall. At the other place there was a
- 4:57small sunlit spot. Everything was dry because to
- 5:01have the sun there was necessary.
- 5:04Naturally, if you seek the scientific point of view, they
- 5:08will explain this to you very scientifically.
- 5:12But I indeed have seen it as a result of an intervention,
- 5:17someone who knew how to ask it and obtained it.
- 5:22In Algeria I saw not a few things like that, very
- 5:25interesting ones. And there just because there was
- 5:29a certain atmosphere of a little more real knowledge, it could be
- 5:32said there were little entities As for example entities which
- 5:38handled snow, you see, which produce snow and which could
- 5:43come enter a room and tell someone now snow should fall
- 5:47here. It had never snowed in that
- 5:50country, never snow. You are joking.
- 5:54So near the Sahara it is going to snow.
- 5:58It must because they have planted fir trees on the
- 6:02mountain. And when we see fir trees, we
- 6:05come. The fir trees are there to call
- 6:07us, so we come. And so you see there was a
- 6:11discussion and the little being went away with the permission to
- 6:15bring snow. And when it had gone, there was
- 6:19a little pool of snow water on the floor, melted snow which had
- 6:23turned into water. It was physical and the mountain
- 6:27was covered with snow. In Algeria, it is very near to
- 6:32Sahara. You go down a few kilometers and
- 6:36you are at the Sahara. Someone had playfully covered
- 6:40all the hills with fir trees. The fir trees belong to cold
- 6:44countries. Why do you call on us?
- 6:46We are coming All This is a true story.
- 6:50It is not an invention. All depends on your relation.
- 6:55This too it is quite possible. The meteorologist scholars would
- 7:00have been able to explain. I know nothing about it.
- 7:05They explain everything one wants.
