- 0:23Speaker 1: dot org. Golf dot Breck dot org. Mickey Loomis and
- 0:27Speaker 1: Kellen Moore both met with reporters on Monday at the
- 0:30Speaker 1: Saints Hall of Fame Golf tournament, and naturally big part
- 0:34Speaker 1: of the conversation was about some of these veterans and
- 0:37Speaker 1: what their futures may be, primarily focusing on three. It's
- 0:39Speaker 1: Cam Jordan, Alvin Kamara, and Taysom Hill. Mickey Loomis was
- 0:44Speaker 1: asked about Cam and Taysom.
- 0:47Speaker 2: See they both have contract golfers from you.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Cam certainly does, Taysom does not, so sorry, was that
- 0:58Speaker 1: four or five? Now? I one? At four? You play four?
- 1:03Speaker 2: Does it become unlikely as you get this far into
- 1:06Speaker 2: the eye.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I don't think so. It's but those guys, you know,
- 1:10Speaker 2: have earned the right to for self determination, right, So
- 1:15Speaker 2: we're not gonna put any deadlines on anything.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I think the the thing that's getting the most attention
- 1:28Speaker 1: today is Mickey Loomis saying Cam has a contract offer
- 1:33Speaker 1: Taysoum does not. The Taysom thing I don't think is
- 1:35Speaker 1: surprising in any way, and I get asked often, Hey,
- 1:38Speaker 1: could such and such be the next Taysom Hill? The Answest? No,
- 1:44Speaker 1: because when you think about it, just intellectually, who else
- 1:50Speaker 1: in the NFL has a Taysom Hill? Nobody, because it's
- 1:56Speaker 1: that atypical what Taysom does. And I know it's a
- 2:00Speaker 1: copycat league, but Taysom has been around for almost a
- 2:03Speaker 1: decade now in that role and nobody else does it
- 2:06Speaker 1: because he is a rare player in this era that
- 2:11Speaker 1: can do it. But you also have to have a
- 2:13Speaker 1: coach like Sean Payton who knows what to do with that.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I mean, that was a Sean Payton brainchild. And then
- 2:21Speaker 1: Pete Carmichael obviously was here and Taysom was under contract.
- 2:26Speaker 1: But now you have a new coaching staff that has
- 2:30Speaker 1: never used a player like that before and doesn't have
- 2:32Speaker 1: a great desire to use a player like that, clearly
- 2:34Speaker 1: because they had Taysom Hill coming off of injury, limited physically,
- 2:38Speaker 1: great leader, all the stuff. Everyone loves Taysoum, but that's
- 2:41Speaker 1: a coaching staff that it looked so forced last year
- 2:45Speaker 1: when Tasom Hill was in the game. So I had
- 2:47Speaker 1: his least productive year coming off a knee, a serious
- 2:50Speaker 1: knee injury, playing for a coach that didn't know how
- 2:53Speaker 1: to use him. So if Taysom maybe is healthier and
- 2:56Speaker 1: wants to continue his career, maybe Denver or reunion was
- 2:59Speaker 1: Sean Peyton would make sense. But more than likely his
- 3:03Speaker 1: career is probably He's probably played his last game in
- 3:06Speaker 1: the NFL, So that one's not surprising. I also think
- 3:11Speaker 1: it's not surprising that Cam Jordan has a contract offer
- 3:14Speaker 1: from the Saints. Go back and listen to what Cam
- 3:18Speaker 1: Jordan said in the interview with Tront Arms said. Remember
- 3:21Speaker 1: this was back in March. He did an interview with
- 3:24Speaker 1: uh what Tront Arms said, it was a So it's
- 3:28Speaker 1: actually I think this was last I think it was April.
- 3:30Speaker 1: It was just a few weeks ago. Cam Jordan was
- 3:35Speaker 1: doing an interview on Toront Armstead's podcast and talked about
- 3:38Speaker 1: the possibility of return.
- 3:40Speaker 2: If things that don't add up to what I consider
- 3:43Speaker 2: as value happened, I understand that the business nature of
- 3:45Speaker 2: it all. You know, in my mind, I'm like, of course,
- 3:47Speaker 2: you know. You see, guys my age, we signed to
- 3:51Speaker 2: the team because that's the only team that they've ever
- 3:52Speaker 2: been with, and you're like, hell yeah, we love that.
- 3:54Speaker 2: But that's to his situation. That may not be to
- 3:57Speaker 2: my situation. As football players, we only control what we
- 3:59Speaker 2: can't control. So as much as I'd be like, hell yeah,
- 4:01Speaker 2: I want them to love me just like I love them. Sometimes,
- 4:04Speaker 2: you know, the business side of that makes you feel emotional.
- 4:07Speaker 2: You got to be able to take your emotions out
- 4:09Speaker 2: of me. So of course I'd love to be a
- 4:10Speaker 2: new woance. And at the same time, he if the
- 4:12Speaker 2: sense doesn't make sense, you know, we gotta find our
- 4:15Speaker 2: own path.
- 4:16Speaker 1: If the sense doesn't make sense, like what he's saying that, Like,
- 4:21Speaker 1: think about that again. What he's saying isn't they don't
- 4:25Speaker 1: want me. They haven't offered me, he said. If the
- 4:27Speaker 1: sense CNTs doesn't make sense, sensc he said in the
- 4:31Speaker 1: money doesn't make sense. So it's not saying that they
- 4:34Speaker 1: don't want me to haven't offered me. He's saying is
- 4:37Speaker 1: what they're offering isn't enough. And we've talked about this plenty,
- 4:41Speaker 1: Like I don't think there's much new here with this.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It's just Mickey confirming what we've talked about plenty, which
- 4:47Speaker 1: is the fact that Cam very clearly, who was on
- 4:51Speaker 1: a incentive laden contract this past year as ten and
- 4:54Speaker 1: a half sacks, wants more guarantees. He very likely wants
- 4:58Speaker 1: a deal like the Mario Davis with the Jets, a
- 5:01Speaker 1: multi year deal with guaranteed money. And it does not
- 5:04Speaker 1: make a lick of Sunda say this again, it does
- 5:06Speaker 1: not make a lick of sense for the New Orleans
- 5:08Speaker 1: Saints to give Cameron Jordan a multi year guaranteed deal.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I love Cam Jordan. You love Cam Jordan. He will
- 5:16Speaker 1: go into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He will
- 5:17Speaker 1: be in the Saints Ring of Honor. He is one
- 5:19Speaker 1: of the greatest players in the history of this organization.
- 5:23Speaker 1: For his contributions, we will all be forever grateful and
- 5:26Speaker 1: we will cheer him forever. If you're the general manager
- 5:29Speaker 1: of the Saints, you're not giving players contracts based on
- 5:32Speaker 1: what they did in the past. You're giving them contracts
- 5:35Speaker 1: based on what you are projecting they will do over
- 5:37Speaker 1: the life of that contract. And Cameron Jordan when you
- 5:40Speaker 1: look and again he's a durable player, but his snap
- 5:43Speaker 1: counts have effectively been cut in half. And if you
- 5:46Speaker 1: start with the twenty twenty three season, he's gone from
- 5:48Speaker 1: twelve and a half Sackson twenty twenty. I'm sure, twelve
- 5:51Speaker 1: and a half in twenty twenty one to eight and
- 5:53Speaker 1: a half to two to four to then ten and
- 5:56Speaker 1: a half this year, which speaks to an outlier. In
- 6:01Speaker 1: the last five years, you had seen a regression every
- 6:05Speaker 1: single year for Cam for four straight seasons until this
- 6:09Speaker 1: year where he had a bounce back. It's hard for
- 6:12Speaker 1: me to believe that's sustainable. That's the outlier. That's the exception,
- 6:16Speaker 1: not the rule. So if you're the Saints, you're not
- 6:18Speaker 1: gonna go invest a multi year deal in an aging,
- 6:21Speaker 1: declining player. I don't know how many more ways we
- 6:24Speaker 1: could say this. I love Cam, you love Cam, we
- 6:26Speaker 1: all love Cam. And the fact is the rest of
- 6:29Speaker 1: the NFL, the market is speaking. He doesn't have an offer,
- 6:33Speaker 1: a multi year offer from anybody else. If he did,
- 6:36Speaker 1: he would have signed it already. Maybe he waits until camp,
- 6:39Speaker 1: there's an injury, there's a desperate team, They pay him
- 6:41Speaker 1: what he wants, and if that's what he wants to do, okay.
- 6:44Speaker 1: But it may come to pass that Cam Jordan's best
- 6:47Speaker 1: option is his only option, and that's the sign of
- 6:51Speaker 1: the older reternity to Orleans on an incentive laden one
- 6:53Speaker 1: year deal like you just played. And if you're the Saints,
- 6:55Speaker 1: you'll absolutely bring Cam Jordan back on an incentive laden
- 7:00Speaker 1: one year deal. But that may not be something he's interested.
- 7:03Speaker 1: If it's not, his time in New Worlds may well
- 7:05Speaker 1: be over.
