- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans welcome and to do val daily presented by jing Jack.com and fuel by brass tax coffee and boy is this a fun show to be putting out right now.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: Thursday, August 20th and according to Rappsheet and Rappaport
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are removing Colvann Lanin from the Publist today.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: He passed his physical.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: He injured his knee in week 18.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: There was some speculation that it was an ACL.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: The team never officially confirmed anything in any capacity.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: Regardless of what it was, Colvann Lanin, Jaguars starting tackle.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: We got paid last year, got injured in week 18 against the Tennessee Titans and a time in the game that was pretty meaningless outside of getting Trevor Lawrence's 4,000 passing yards.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's neither here nor there at this point.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: This was one of my big worries, the offensive line heading into, you know, preseason week two, heading into the regular season week one.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: who was going to be starting at tackle outside of Anton Harris and it looked like it was going to be a walker little until Colman land and returned and he's back.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: So he now has 24 days to get ready for a week one against the Cleveland Browns and this dramatically shifts how I'm feeling about the jacks moving forward.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: Now, does it change anything in regards to preseason week two?
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: Preseason week three?
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: No, it doesn't.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: I would not really expect, I mean, my initial reaction would be I wouldn't expect to see him against the bucks and joint practices next week.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's are hosting two joint practices with the bucks, but yeah, man, this is huge news, huge news.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a doctor, I'm not a lot of really speculate, but he's looked good, moving on the sideline, working on the sideline.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: He had a helmet with him this past week.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't say anything about that one way or the other, but I just confirmed he did have a helmet for the first time that we had seen this spring to summer.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: And so, man, that is good news.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: Colvin Lannon has played across the offensive line for the Jaguars.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: It now appears that Anton Harrison is the Jaguars starting left tackle.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think that will stick, but that is one of the questions that kind of you.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: After the fallout of Colvin Lannon returning to the roster, returning to the practice field.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: So then you have to figure out, okay, is he your left tackle?
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: Is he now your right tackle?
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: I feel confident that he can do either.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: I also feel confident that Anton Harrison can do either.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think one thing we need to do is go back and talk about like what Cole van Lannan actually meant to the Jaguar's offense of line last year and what he means to the Jaguar's offense of line moving forward.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, it was, and gosh, his journey is just so incredible.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: Six rounds picked by the packers back in 2021.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: When the Jags traded for him,
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: I remember being excited about the trade.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: I liked him in the draft.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: I liked the Jaguar's getting him.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: And the Packers were about to release him.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: And the Jaguar's called and said, well, give you a late round pick for Colvin Lannon and bring him in.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, it never really stuck.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like he was on the roster.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: He stuck around through multiple regimes.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this is now his second regime in Jacksonville, but third staff that he's been with total in his career.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: and in 2024, when he had to fill in some at left tackle, some at right tackle, he played pretty well.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: And then in 2025, when Walker little, so in 2025, last year, he played 356 snaps at left tackle.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: 72 at left guard, 46 at right guard, and 133 at right tackle.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: I did think his best tape was at right tackle.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to need left tackle, excuse me.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: Left tackle.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: When he finally entered the starting line up, because Walker little went down with an injury.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's crazy the way I think ships, Walker little entering last year, you're starting left tackle.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: But now, it felt like you didn't even want to see him.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: on the field in a regular season game at Tackle, just because the way he played last year, Walker Little, it was not good.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Cole VanLanan comes in, and I don't think that it was direct causation for the Jaguar's offense exploding, but I do think it was a factor.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's offense exploded last year down the back half of the season.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: Part of it was Jacobi Myers coming in, right?
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Part of it was Trevor Lawrence getting more comfortable in the offense.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: Part of it was Britain's strange returning, but a big part of it was his blind side, Trevor Lawrence's blind side, it got cleaned up in a big, big way.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: When Colve and Lannon, Colve and Lannon came in and kind of locked things up on the left side.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: He absolutely did.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: And I was feeling really nervous about this Jaguar's O line.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm feeling much better about it right now.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: That was my biggest, like I literally earlier today did a show with questions, concerns, facing the Jaguars, things that made me nervous.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: Offensive line was number one on the list.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: And now, just with the return of Colvane Lannin and the fact that it's coming almost four weeks before the start of the regular season to where he can really get some practice time in.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not nervous about that offensive line anymore, I'm really not.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: And another thing that does not make me nervous is the my booky lock of the season.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's back and it is an absolute no-brainer, Patriots, Seahawks, NFL kickoff.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: My booky is asking one simple question, will the Seahawks raise their championship banner that night?
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: Of course they will.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: They're defending champs.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: home opener raising the banner for kickoff that's what you do and you're getting that bet at plus money odds you're getting paid basically say yes the c-hawks will do the thing they will celebrate
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: their world championship, they will raise the banner, and that's the first my bookie lock of the season.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: There's gonna be plenty more coming all season long, but get in before kickoff, sign up at my bookie with my promo code Duval, all caps, DUVAL, and start your season off with a win.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: Anytime, anywhere that's my bookie code Duval must be 21 plus 18 plus in select jurisdictions, terms and conditions apply, gambling problem call 100Gambleau or visit 100Gambleau.net for free, confidential support available 247.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: Right, and, you know, you look at statistically even his worst game against the Broncos.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: I still think he did a really good job, the Broncos have a potent past rush.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: He allowed six pressures, but
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: The wrong cause we're getting after it, you know, bringing heat, and it didn't matter because Trevor Lawrence was dealing that day.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: He was absolutely dealing, Parker Washington, et cetera, Cole Van Lannon, so litified the left side of the line.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: So I really don't care what the Jack Wars decide to do regarding who's playing left tackle and who's playing right tackle, because you now have a tackle duo in Cole Van Lannon
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: is top 10 in the NFL.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I know you go around, you look at lists across the web and nobody's gonna be saying that.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: But I honestly do think that Cole VanLan in a plus pass protector, a plus run blocker.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: Ants on Harrison, a plus pass protector, a plus run blocker.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying a plus, I'm saying plus, right?
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: They're good, they're above average in both assets, both facets of the game I should say.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's so exciting.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: I am just thrilled.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's probably an understatement.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: That Cole VanLanning is back for the Jacksonville Jaguar as he has plenty of time to get ready for week one.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: And you now have an offensive line that features at left or right, Colvin Lann and Hanson Harrison, most people theorize and I kind of lean towards that too.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: The Anton Harrison is going to be your left tackle.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: He's a higher-up side player.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's more athletic.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: He has better length.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: His feet are incredible.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's a higher-up side pass-protective, right?
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: But either way, I'm fine because I know Cole being leaning and doing the job at left tackle.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: I know you can do it at right tackle.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: Same thing with Anton Harrison.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm good to go at tackle.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: And now you're back to a position where Walker Little is a good backup tackle.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: A good backup guard for you.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: When your backup's coming the game, you're not super excited about it.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, but he's a guy that has a lot of experience that is a good backup in this league.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: So now you have a tackle situation that features those three.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: and I'm very bullish on that.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: I am.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: When you look interior-wise, I still think that Robert Hainesy is a replacement level starter, but he does bring a lot of experience in this offense.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: He brings leadership, communication, and I think the mindset he kind of brings of front is beneficial.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there's any sort of competition between him and Jonah Monheim right now.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: whether there should be or not is a different question, but I don't think that there is.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: When you look at guard with pregnant really stepping up the last week or so and being a guy that the coaching staff is just thrilled with from a performance and a work ethic standpoint, I love that.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: I would like to see pregnant in the lineup.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: ASAP.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: Now, you could also say, we'll walk our little shift inside to guard and be a starting guard for you now.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's possible.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I would be okay with that.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of people don't want to see him on the field.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: When Walker little played right guard for the Jaguar last year, he did a good job.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: Is it going to be as recleavened at left guard or right guard?
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: He's been working at right guard and did a good job this week.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: Pregnant at left
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: Any of that combination, I'm good with.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely, very happy with it.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: And then you talk about your depth now.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: Why am I, I'm supposed to be coming back next week?
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm good with him as a depth player.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Joan O'monheim, I'm good with as a depth player, right?
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: You have Daniel Falle Layley who's going to be
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you trade a six round pick for a guy you're about to cut.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I think he's going to be on the roster too.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm fine with him as a depth player on your roster.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: So you're looking now at a team that just with one move feels so, so different.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: And so now my biggest question for the Jack Wars is really like, can you lock up those number one receivers?
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel very confident in the offensive line.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: I also like that I think that they can help the all,
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: If they feel like they need to in a certain matchup, they can help more with the offensive line now, with the tight end depth that they've created at that position.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: You can help more with the past problem or with the rum blocking.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm in certain matchups with Borgoturer, Strange, etc.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm fired up about it guys.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think this is the best news the Jaguars have gotten.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: and a while, Cole VanLan and back, Cole VanLan and we'll be practicing and should be good to go for a week one.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: So huge news.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: And again, no Miles Garrett, but Jared versus a hell of a player.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: Now you have two tackles that you're gonna feel fairly comfortable with one-on-one with Jared versus.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: If Jared versus gonna get his short, he's a good player.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: But you don't feel like you are out match now.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: when it comes to that matchup and you look.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: across the, the beginning of the season for the jaguars, the browns, again, have Jared verse.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: The Broncos have a potent past rush in week two, the Patriots, they've got guys too.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: Their strength is really more in the middle, but Dramat Jones is a good underrated ad drusher.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: And now you'll be able to deal with that a little bit better.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: And the rest of the guys that they have over there,
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: You talk about the Bengals.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: They don't have tray hindricks in who terrorized Walker little last year, but they've got some talent too.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: They went and got Boya Muffay.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a guy you can now deal with a little bit more comfortably and confidently.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: You look at the London trip right after that.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: You got the Texans and the Eagles, both of those teams have potent past rushes.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: This is huge.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's absolutely huge for the Jaguars.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: I cannot, I think, overselled the importance of having Colvin Lannon in the lineup.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: So, very good news for the Jags.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm now kind of back in this pretty bullish, confident state that I think the Jaguars can be one of the best teams in the NFL, that I think that they can be one of the very, very top FC contenders.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: Potentially, I've one of the best seasons you've ever seen here in Jacksonville and have that extend beyond the wild card round of the playoffs, hopefully.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: You can't put the cart before the horse.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: You've got to go win your games, get the job done and all that stuff, but just looking ahead, I'm pretty darn confident in this group now that Cole Van Lannon is back in the fold and a great story for him.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: You know, as again, former six round pick, it's traded right before he's released.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: back up for the Jaguars for several years, gets his opportunity to start, makes the most of it, gets paid, now he's healthy again, and ready to rock and roll.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: So great stuff.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know how you're feeling about it in the comment section below.
