Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the Mark Simon Show on sevent ten.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Woo Hey, it's Wednesday. It's two days until spring begins,
- 0:15Speaker 2: two days away. Hey, we got a lot to get to.
- 0:18Speaker 2: We'll get to this. We'll get to this Joe Knt
- 0:20Speaker 2: who quit and what his future is. We'll get to
- 0:23Speaker 2: the oscars. The ratings are down. Take a look at why.
- 0:26Speaker 2: We'll get to a crazy uh moron Zamdami mo zoron
- 0:32Speaker 2: mam dami Uh. He's offended a lot of people yesterday
- 0:35Speaker 2: with his crazy rant at the Saint Patrick's Day breakfast.
- 0:40Speaker 2: We'll get to the Guthrie case, some developments there no
- 0:44Speaker 2: nothing about finding her, but some other things. We'll get
- 0:47Speaker 2: to the ran of course, and a whole lot more so.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Mark Wayne Mullen is being confirmed today. The hearings are today.
- 0:56Speaker 2: He's been nominated to replace Tulsey Gabbart. Now they'll bloody
- 1:00Speaker 2: him up a little in these hearings, because that's what
- 1:02Speaker 2: you do in a hearing. They'll ask him how he
- 1:05Speaker 2: made how he became so wealthy while in office. Well,
- 1:08Speaker 2: that's every one of them sitting there. They'll pick on
- 1:11Speaker 2: some other things, but he'll get confirmed. He's a senator
- 1:14Speaker 2: one reason he was appointed is the way things are
- 1:18Speaker 2: right now that these Senate committees will not confirm any
- 1:21Speaker 2: Trump nominee, So you got to pick a senator because
- 1:24Speaker 2: he's one of them. They won't turn down one of
- 1:26Speaker 2: their own, though, they'll confirm one of their own. And
- 1:29Speaker 2: Mark Wayne Mullen has been very good at making friends
- 1:32Speaker 2: in the House, in the Senate, He's been known for that,
- 1:36Speaker 2: having lunch with people on both sides of the aisle,
- 1:38Speaker 2: going to the gym with people on both sides of
- 1:40Speaker 2: the aisle. So it'll drag on for a while, but
- 1:43Speaker 2: they will confirm him later today. The Warren I ran
- 1:46Speaker 2: some good developments overnight. We killed Asmiel Katib, Actually Israel
- 1:53Speaker 2: did it. He was the Iran Minister of Intelligence, but
- 1:57Speaker 2: he's believed to be the actual guy who oversees Rand's
- 2:01Speaker 2: entire global terror apparatus. Sleeper cells, hesbola hoodies, all that
- 2:08Speaker 2: sort of stuff. Killed him last night in a bombing raid.
- 2:12Speaker 2: He's gone. Two people were killed in a missile strike
- 2:16Speaker 2: on Ramot Gan it's near Tel Aviv. That's in Israel retaliation.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Now here's the other thing. We've been escalating. The bombing.
- 2:29Speaker 2: You don't hear as much about it, but it's actually
- 2:31Speaker 2: been much more intense. In fact, yesterday we started dropping
- 2:34Speaker 2: five thousand pound penetrator bombs, bunker buster bombs that go
- 2:39Speaker 2: deep underground. We've been using them to take out mountains,
- 2:43Speaker 2: take out underground missile sites that are way underground, especially
- 2:47Speaker 2: along the coast. Those are the ones that particularly threatened
- 2:51Speaker 2: the straits of Hormusa. We took a bunch of those
- 2:53Speaker 2: out last night. All good developments, a lot of good
- 2:55Speaker 2: stuff happened in there. Allies still refused to come in
- 2:58Speaker 2: and help. Off the record, any general will tell you
- 3:03Speaker 2: as far as the Allies coming in, there's absolutely no
- 3:06Speaker 2: military value to them coming up. There's nothing militarily we
- 3:10Speaker 2: could use for any of them. The only reason to
- 3:12Speaker 2: get them to come in is just for the optics,
- 3:15Speaker 2: just symbolically. It looks good to have a coalition, so
- 3:17Speaker 2: we don't need them militarily for anything. In fact, they
- 3:21Speaker 2: might actually slow things down sometimes when you put together
- 3:23Speaker 2: these coalitions. It happened in Iraq. It sometimes slows things down,
- 3:28Speaker 2: lack of communication between different countries' forces getting in the
- 3:33Speaker 2: way of each other.
- 3:34Speaker 3: So.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Military wise better without the Allies. It was just a
- 3:38Speaker 2: symbolic thing, So we'll see. The president was asked, is
- 3:43Speaker 2: this going to be another Vietnam? A ridiculous question, of course.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Because the Uranian regime is built sky news.
- 3:49Speaker 4: If you put boots on the grounds.
- 3:50Speaker 1: In round, it will be another Vietnam.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Are you afraid of them?
- 3:54Speaker 5: No, I'm not afraid of I'm really not afraid of anything.
- 3:57Speaker 2: It's a day fourteen or it's two weeks. I'd hardly
- 4:00Speaker 2: call that another Vietnam, which was twelve years. Two weeks
- 4:05Speaker 2: is not twelve years. Big difference. And boots on the
- 4:08Speaker 2: ground the only boots on the ground. They do have
- 4:10Speaker 2: marine strike forces that have come in, twenty five hundred
- 4:13Speaker 2: of them. There may be an occasion where they need
- 4:16Speaker 2: to go ashore from an amphibious crap. Just go ashore,
- 4:20Speaker 2: quick raid, literally twenty minutes in and out. That's the
- 4:25Speaker 2: only kind of boots on the ground you'll see. So
- 4:28Speaker 2: things are going well. We did kill two days ago
- 4:34Speaker 2: the leader of the country after the Ayahtola, and he
- 4:37Speaker 2: supposedly appointed his son to be the new Ayahtola, but
- 4:40Speaker 2: that never actually took place. The real leader has been
- 4:44Speaker 2: Ali Larjani. He was killed earlier this week and people
- 4:49Speaker 2: were stunned at as arrogance. He was the new leader.
- 4:52Speaker 2: We knew he was the new leader, and he's one
- 4:54Speaker 2: of the most brutal, awful terrorist leaders of the whole
- 4:59Speaker 2: Iranian government. But he took over. He was the leader,
- 5:01Speaker 2: and he had the arrogance to just walk down the
- 5:04Speaker 2: street by himself, out in the open. There. He was
- 5:07Speaker 2: walking along the street when an Israeli bomb hit him
- 5:10Speaker 2: right on the head and blew him into a million pieces.
- 5:13Speaker 2: So he's gone. That's the end of that. It's just
- 5:17Speaker 2: getting better and better over there. Now, you heard about
- 5:20Speaker 2: this guy in the Trump administration who quit. His name
- 5:23Speaker 2: is Joe Kent. Joe Kent was the National counter Terrorism
- 5:29Speaker 2: Center Director. Now this sounds very imposing, this title, but
- 5:33Speaker 2: this is what they do in the swamp. They come
- 5:35Speaker 2: up with these titles. Joe Kent has been a big
- 5:38Speaker 2: Trump supporter. He's been a big supporter of going after Iran,
- 5:43Speaker 2: of taking out Iran. He has said this for years.
- 5:48Speaker 2: He has been saying for years that Iran is a
- 5:51Speaker 2: major threat, the biggest sponsor of terrorism. He's pushed going
- 5:55Speaker 2: after Iran for years. So he suddenly quit saying it
- 5:58Speaker 2: was wrong to go after Iran. Why the contradictory stuff.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Who knows. Who knows what goes through his head. He's
- 6:05Speaker 2: got a history of just being wrong on everything. He's
- 6:09Speaker 2: also got a history of appearing to be very antisemitic
- 6:13Speaker 2: anti Israel. I think that's the thing here in this
- 6:17Speaker 2: He always wanted to go after I Ran and get
- 6:19Speaker 2: rid of them. But in this case it's Israel really
- 6:21Speaker 2: leading the charge, Israel doing eighty percent of the military work,
- 6:26Speaker 2: Israel being the biggest beneficiary of all of this. I
- 6:28Speaker 2: think that's what really offended Joe Kent. He's always blaming
- 6:32Speaker 2: Israel for everything. You remember the Gulf War, not the
- 6:34Speaker 2: Iraq War, the Gulf War. I remember when we had
- 6:38Speaker 2: to liberate Kuwait from Sodom Hussein. That was the George
- 6:42Speaker 2: hw Bush War. In the Gulf War, this same Joe
- 6:45Speaker 2: Kent kept yelling and screaming we were only doing this
- 6:47Speaker 2: because of Israel. This was Israel that made us do it. Well,
- 6:52Speaker 2: if you just check the record book back in the
- 6:54Speaker 2: Gulf War, Israel totally opposed the Gulf War. Israel begged
- 6:57Speaker 2: us not to do it. Israel at the time thought
- 7:00Speaker 2: it was more important to go after Iran. Israel thought
- 7:02Speaker 2: we were fighting the wrong fight. So Joe Kent has
- 7:04Speaker 2: a history of contradictory stuff, history of anti Semitic kind
- 7:10Speaker 2: of nonsense. He's a great military veteran, eleven combat tours,
- 7:17Speaker 2: and people that know him and know his history say
- 7:19Speaker 2: it was very, very sad to watch him end his
- 7:22Speaker 2: career in this anti semitic rant that he put out yesterday,
- 7:26Speaker 2: leaving even Mitch McConnell, who's no fan of Donald Trump,
- 7:30Speaker 2: issued a scathing statement saying about Kent virulent anti semitism.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Mitch McConnell pointing out Joe kent't testified before the Senate
- 7:42Speaker 2: one year ago that Iran and its terror proxy's threatened
- 7:46Speaker 2: US service members. It was the biggest threat he testified
- 7:49Speaker 2: about the threat. McConnell goes on to say the virulent
- 7:53Speaker 2: anti semitism of his resignation letter makes it clear he's
- 7:58Speaker 2: just incapable of upholding these plays. Just it's his charges
- 8:01Speaker 2: are baseless, incendiary, and McConnell went on, remember this is
- 8:06Speaker 2: a real swamp guy, McConnell. Isolationists and anti Semites have
- 8:10Speaker 2: no place in either party and do not deserve places
- 8:13Speaker 2: of trust in our government. So he's gone now he's
- 8:16Speaker 2: a very good looking guy, although kind of a I
- 8:20Speaker 2: don't know, kind of a mannequin looking guy, but good talker,
- 8:24Speaker 2: good looking. I assume the reason he's doing all this
- 8:27Speaker 2: is he wants a TV job. He wants to be
- 8:29Speaker 2: on CNN or MSNBC, and if you're suddenly attacking Trump
- 8:35Speaker 2: like crazy, you instantly get on there. He'll be on
- 8:38Speaker 2: every show in the world for the next few days.
- 8:40Speaker 2: He'll be on Morning Joe and The View, and Jimmy
- 8:43Speaker 2: Kimmel and Colbert. He'll be on all these shows. And
- 8:46Speaker 2: I guess he hopes to get a TV job out
- 8:48Speaker 2: of it. And you can make you make a lot
- 8:49Speaker 2: of money doing that. It's pretty good. Hey, the oscars, Now,
- 8:54Speaker 2: everybody's trying to figure this out. You know, they got
- 8:56Speaker 2: these betting markets, polymarket, those kind of stuff, these prediction marks.
- 9:00Speaker 2: It's all amateur's betting, and they bet on everything. They
- 9:03Speaker 2: bet on politics, they bet on the oscars. Everybody is
- 9:07Speaker 2: looking at this. It seems in the betting markets they
- 9:10Speaker 2: got right every single category, every single win everything, They
- 9:14Speaker 2: predicted everything correctly. Now, not in the week's leading up,
- 9:18Speaker 2: but at the last couple days the betting got absolutely
- 9:22Speaker 2: everything right. Now that never happened, So they're worried there
- 9:27Speaker 2: might might have been some kind of leak. You know,
- 9:29Speaker 2: those votes are tabulated by an accounting firm and they
- 9:32Speaker 2: usually come in the locked briefcase with the guy's handcuffed
- 9:35Speaker 2: to it. But starting to worry somebody leaked something at
- 9:39Speaker 2: how else could these betting markets be so accurate? Hey,
- 9:43Speaker 2: the Savannah Guthrie case, you don't hear about it anymore.
- 9:48Speaker 2: The Nancy Guthrie case, you just don't hear about it.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Nothing on the news, hardly anything for days and days.
- 9:55Speaker 2: And people have noticed that the top reporters covering this
- 10:00Speaker 2: porter so this was their full time beat covering this,
- 10:02Speaker 2: this is this case. They've all left town. The last
- 10:05Speaker 2: one left yesterday. It packed up and left. Not a
- 10:10Speaker 2: great sign for the Now there's still a federal agents
- 10:14Speaker 2: there looking as far as the sheriff's office, they've been
- 10:17Speaker 2: bumbling from the beginning. Who knows what they're doing. In fact,
- 10:20Speaker 2: there's now the sheriff Nanos, who is the bumbling Barney
- 10:24Speaker 2: fifish awful local sheriff first on the case. There's now
- 10:29Speaker 2: a recall movement underway that's already started. Petitions are being
- 10:33Speaker 2: signed to recall him and get him out of office. It
- 10:36Speaker 2: would actually be a great idea to do it. Hey,
- 10:39Speaker 2: speaking of the OSCARS, ratings were not good. They haven't
- 10:45Speaker 2: been good in a while. You know, if you go
- 10:46Speaker 2: back twenty five years, the OSCARS got about fifty seven
- 10:51Speaker 2: fifty eight sixty million people watching Sunday Night. It wasn't
- 10:57Speaker 2: fifty seven million, it was eighteen million. It's way down,
- 11:00Speaker 2: and it had been twenty million the year before. The
- 11:02Speaker 2: twenty one million, but it was down nine percent, nine
- 11:07Speaker 2: percent from last year.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Now.
- 11:08Speaker 2: I don't know what this does to Conan O'Brien. They
- 11:10Speaker 2: were pretty high on him, but it dropped nine percent
- 11:14Speaker 2: this year. It may not be his fault. The problem
- 11:17Speaker 2: is two problems. One, nobody wants to watch these award
- 11:20Speaker 2: shows anymore. Nobody wants to watch award shows, and the
- 11:24Speaker 2: way people watch stuff has changed. Nobody watches an award
- 11:30Speaker 2: show for three hours. They're not going to sit there
- 11:31Speaker 2: for three hours watching one award show. They'll binge watch
- 11:34Speaker 2: eighteen hours of a series, but they're not going to
- 11:38Speaker 2: watch an award show for three hours. So even though
- 11:41Speaker 2: only only eighteen million watching on television, one hundred and
- 11:46Speaker 2: eighty four million went to their phones or online and
- 11:50Speaker 2: watched little bites of it, which is what I did.
- 11:53Speaker 2: I didn't watch the actual show, but later later, I
- 11:57Speaker 2: just went to YouTube, watched the opening monologue, watched a
- 12:01Speaker 2: couple of the awards, watched the little Barbarus streisand segment.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Just that, and that's what most people did. Only eighteen
- 12:07Speaker 2: million watched the show. One hundred and eighty four million
- 12:11Speaker 2: watched the clips, which is up, by the way, up
- 12:14Speaker 2: forty two from last year. So it's just the way
- 12:19Speaker 2: people do stuff now. They're not going to sit there.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Sometimes people do that, even with sports, you know, they
- 12:24Speaker 2: don't watch the whole game. They just look at their
- 12:27Speaker 2: phone every so often and look at the highlights every
- 12:29Speaker 2: so often. Well, Saint Patrick's Day is over. We love
- 12:34Speaker 2: the Irish people, we love the parade, but you got
- 12:38Speaker 2: to get better food. I went to these Saint Patrick's
- 12:40Speaker 2: Day parties. All right, I'm not that big a fan
- 12:43Speaker 2: of corn, beef and soda bread. It's enough with that.
- 12:47Speaker 2: And the music musically, I mean, can we get some guitars,
- 12:52Speaker 2: some trumpets, some trombone, some something, But those bagpipes, I
- 12:57Speaker 2: guess it's okay for a parade. I mean for a parade.
- 12:59Speaker 2: It's okay, it's kind of marching music. But you notice
- 13:03Speaker 2: if you watch college football, then when the halftime, when
- 13:05Speaker 2: the band comes on, there's no bill need any bagpipes.
- 13:08Speaker 2: You go to Carnegie Hall, you don't see any bagpipe ride.
- 13:10Speaker 2: It's once a year. It was a pretty good parade.
- 13:12Speaker 2: It was actually not bad. Yesterday. Hey, you know we
- 13:16Speaker 2: will get to the Department of Homeland Security shutdown. This
- 13:20Speaker 2: is the government shutdown. It's all being shut down by
- 13:23Speaker 2: government by Democrats. The Democrats are keeping it going. The
- 13:27Speaker 2: problem is the TSA is part of Homeland Security, and
- 13:31Speaker 2: TSA workers are not getting paid. They've now missed two paychecks.
- 13:35Speaker 2: About three four hundred of them have left. More are
- 13:39Speaker 2: leaving every day. And TSA screeners they don't well, they
- 13:43Speaker 2: make about forty five thousand a year. They've been working
- 13:47Speaker 2: out without pay for a couple of weeks. Now ten
- 13:50Speaker 2: percent are calling in sick every day. Nearly three hundred
- 13:54Speaker 2: and seventy five have quit their jobs over this. Now
- 13:57Speaker 2: the problem is if this gets any worse, the airports
- 14:01Speaker 2: are now talking about what they call their doomsday scenario.
- 14:06Speaker 2: You know, right now, if you go to the airport
- 14:07Speaker 2: because of the TSA problems and the shortage and the shutdown,
- 14:11Speaker 2: massive delays, you know, usually it's an hour or two,
- 14:13Speaker 2: now three four five hour delays getting through security. But
- 14:18Speaker 2: the doomsday scenario is actually shutting down some airports. They're
- 14:22Speaker 2: actually talking about that now. Some airports could be shut
- 14:25Speaker 2: down entirely, which would be a real nightmare that would
- 14:29Speaker 2: affect everybody everywhere. And we'll get to coming up, we'll
- 14:33Speaker 2: get to a mom Donnie just causing a terrible scene
- 14:37Speaker 2: yesterday at the Saint Patrick's Day breakfast. We'll get to that,
- 14:41Speaker 2: and a whole lot more just ahead. We'll take some calls.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Next.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten is the number.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten seven trs
- 14:54Speaker 2: Mark Simone Show continues. Now take some calls. Eight hundred
- 15:01Speaker 2: three two one zero seven ten is the number. Eight
- 15:04Speaker 2: hundred three two one zero seven ten. Let's go to
- 15:08Speaker 2: Rich in Myrtle Beach. Rich How you doing pretty good?
- 15:11Speaker 3: Felt like twenty six degrees here this morning, so we'll
- 15:14Speaker 3: get back to the fifties tomorrow. But it was a
- 15:16Speaker 3: pretty pretty cold blast last night and the day before.
- 15:20Speaker 3: You know this, John Thune, he's got to go, he
- 15:22Speaker 3: better get his uh, you know what, off the off
- 15:25Speaker 3: the crapper. You know, we've got over seventy judge openings
- 15:30Speaker 3: that need to be filled. At least Mitch McConnell, the
- 15:33Speaker 3: Turtle was good at doing these judges and getting judges
- 15:36Speaker 3: appointed in. There's a lot of red states that have
- 15:38Speaker 3: a lot of openings and courting to Laura Ingram, there's
- 15:40Speaker 3: something like, you know, well over seventy high level judge
- 15:43Speaker 3: ships that need to be filled, and John Thuhon in
- 15:46Speaker 3: the Senate that they're just not doing anything to look
- 15:48Speaker 3: at the long range term by not doing anything like that.
- 15:51Speaker 2: No, you're absolutely right. Thoon is one useless guy. Anytime
- 15:54Speaker 2: you see a politician, he looks like that senator on
- 15:56Speaker 2: the Godfather, remember excuse you?
- 16:00Speaker 3: Or yeah?
- 16:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it looks like I wouldn't trust him for a second.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Not that I would trust Mitch McConnell either, But you're right,
- 16:07Speaker 2: McConnell at least been there six hundred years, knew how
- 16:10Speaker 2: to get stuff done. Let's go to doctor Bob in
- 16:13Speaker 2: Long Island. Doctor Bob, how you doing okay?
- 16:16Speaker 6: Mark, good to speak to you. Yeah, I second the
- 16:18Speaker 6: emotion about Whoon his disaster he's just treading water. But
- 16:24Speaker 6: I'm just wondering, Mark, you know, they're really getting ready
- 16:26Speaker 6: to close some of the airports because the TSA people
- 16:31Speaker 6: walking off without getting paid. I can't believe that the
- 16:35Speaker 6: senators are getting paid for blocking government functions. And I
- 16:40Speaker 6: think that they should set up a priority list of
- 16:42Speaker 6: maybe some of the states that have maybe democratic senators.
- 16:50Speaker 6: Maybe tick off of Massachusetts airports, maybe take off some
- 16:54Speaker 6: of the Chicago and California airports, and announce the schedule
- 16:57Speaker 6: when the closures are going to occur. Maybe that'll put
- 17:00Speaker 6: some pressure on those senators.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's hard to pressure these guys, but a good point. Well,
- 17:06Speaker 2: a lot of people want to make sure because normally,
- 17:09Speaker 2: you know these congressman, House, Senate, they go right through
- 17:13Speaker 2: that there's no TSA line for them. They go, they
- 17:15Speaker 2: got escorted right through, an escort actually shows up, bring
- 17:17Speaker 2: them right through. Everybody wants that stopped, not just during
- 17:21Speaker 2: this but forever. You'll notice you hear the senators, the Democrats, everybody.
- 17:29Speaker 2: They'll criticize the Secretary of Defense, they'll criticize the Secretary
- 17:33Speaker 2: of State. But you'll notice you never hear anybody in
- 17:37Speaker 2: Congress Democrats you'll never hear them criticize the Secretary of Transportation,
- 17:41Speaker 2: which right now is Sean Duffy. And the reason they
- 17:45Speaker 2: never criticize the Secretary of Transportation is when your secretary
- 17:50Speaker 2: of transportation, first thing you do is you give your
- 17:53Speaker 2: cell number to everybody in Congress, Republican Democrat, they all
- 17:57Speaker 2: have his cell number. They're going to the airport, they
- 17:58Speaker 2: can call him, heal, arrange for an escort to show up.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Whatever you got, any problem in an airport train, he
- 18:05Speaker 2: call him, take care of it, just like that. So
- 18:10Speaker 2: you could threaten them with all kinds of things. You
- 18:12Speaker 2: could threaten them with no more escorts, no more this.
- 18:15Speaker 2: And you could just say we're going to have the
- 18:17Speaker 2: Secretary of Transportation change his phone number to a new
- 18:20Speaker 2: number that you don't have. Then maybe they'll cave in
- 18:23Speaker 2: real fast. Let's go to Foggi in Long Island. Did
- 18:27Speaker 2: I say your name right?
- 18:30Speaker 7: Fagi?
- 18:31Speaker 2: Yes?
- 18:32Speaker 7: Hi Mark. I have a question, why can't we pass
- 18:36Speaker 7: term limits for any member of Congress or political figure?
- 18:41Speaker 7: Because presidential have term limits? Why are people allowed to
- 18:45Speaker 7: be in Congress for fifty years? Make a Korea out
- 18:47Speaker 7: of it?
- 18:48Speaker 2: Yeah, no, they're all horrible. The worst people are these
- 18:50Speaker 2: lifetime senators, Republicans, Democrats. They all stink. But well, the
- 18:54Speaker 2: reason the problem is they'd have to pass it. They're
- 18:57Speaker 2: the only ones that can pass it against themselves, and
- 18:59Speaker 2: they won't do it.
- 19:00Speaker 7: And also, why can't they pass that if they prevent
- 19:04Speaker 7: any Americans who earn their living like the TSA members,
- 19:07Speaker 7: why can't we pass a lot that says if they
- 19:09Speaker 7: prevent that, they will not get paid either. It's frustrating
- 19:13Speaker 7: and I feel for those people.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yeah, no, concres should not get paid during the shutdown.
- 19:16Speaker 2: You're absolutely right. Where are you in Long Island.
- 19:19Speaker 7: I'm on Bayville.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Bayville are right next to Jackie.
- 19:23Speaker 7: Martlin, right, I know, and Billy Joe. We used to
- 19:27Speaker 7: run into him into town all the time.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Well, Bazil is right next to where he lives. Center
- 19:31Speaker 2: and also got the great, the great songwriter Jimmy Webb
- 19:34Speaker 2: lives in Bayville.
- 19:35Speaker 7: Yes, yes, yes, it's a beautiful town. Yeah, it's gonna
- 19:41Speaker 7: come alive in the summertime. Right now, it's still like
- 19:44Speaker 7: peaceful and quiet.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Yeah, for all you people that drive all the way
- 19:47Speaker 2: out to the Hamptons, you go to Bayville, It's got
- 19:49Speaker 2: a beautiful Beach. It's close.
- 19:50Speaker 7: It's I go to Southhold during the summer for ward,
- 19:54Speaker 7: so I'm like, yep, I'm gonna drive.
- 19:57Speaker 2: All right, Thanks for Colin. Let's go to Gina and
- 20:00Speaker 2: Staten Island. Gina. How you doing.
- 20:03Speaker 4: Oh, I'm great.
- 20:03Speaker 3: I love your show.
- 20:04Speaker 4: Mark. I just have a question about the voter ID.
- 20:07Speaker 4: I was having an argument with my sister and she
- 20:10Speaker 4: said that she doesn't think that, you know, we should
- 20:13Speaker 4: have voter ID. And I said, yeah, but how do
- 20:15Speaker 4: you know who's voting? And she said, when she took
- 20:17Speaker 4: her son to go register to vote, you have to
- 20:20Speaker 4: show ago birth certificate. So I just I'm confused. I
- 20:23Speaker 4: don't understand.
- 20:24Speaker 2: All right, let me give you some good advice. Stop
- 20:26Speaker 2: talking to your sister. Know what the else he's talking about.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Stop talking to her. Everybody has a driver's license. Everybody
- 20:37Speaker 2: can show voter ID. It's it's photo I D. It's
- 20:40Speaker 2: the easiest thing to do. It's everywhere you go, everywhere
- 20:44Speaker 2: in the world, you have to show a photo ID.
- 20:46Speaker 2: To get into any office building, to buy medicine, to
- 20:50Speaker 2: do anything, you had to have photo ID. Everybody has it.
- 20:53Speaker 2: It's a simple thing to do, but it screws up
- 20:56Speaker 2: the Democrats, and you know they putting legals on the
- 21:01Speaker 2: on the ballots and all that. It screws them up
- 21:03Speaker 2: to do it. So that's the reason they keep it
- 21:05Speaker 2: posting it. We'll get to this in the next hour.
- 21:06Speaker 2: It's a very good topic. In the next hour. We'll
- 21:09Speaker 2: get to this save act. It's very important. You know,
- 21:12Speaker 2: the yell and scream on MSNBC or CNN, how it's
- 21:17Speaker 2: wrong to make people show photo ID. It's racist, it's suppresses,
- 21:20Speaker 2: it's you have to show a photo ID to get
- 21:23Speaker 2: into MSNBC or CNN. Every guest on the show has
- 21:27Speaker 2: to show a photo ID. I'm sitting here at iHeart.
- 21:29Speaker 2: You gotta show photo ID to get in this building.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Everybody does everywhere. Hey, when we come back to brilliant
- 21:35Speaker 2: columnist Liz Peak, we'll be with us next. We've got
- 21:38Speaker 2: lots to talk to her about coming up on seven
- 21:40Speaker 2: to ten wor to Mark Simone show on SEVENR Well,
- 21:48Speaker 2: Liz Peak, the brilliant columnists, your reader at the Foxnews
- 21:51Speaker 2: dot com, the Hill dot com. You see her all
- 21:53Speaker 2: over television, and make sure you go to her website.
- 21:56Speaker 2: It's great news and analysis every day. It's Liz Peak.
- 22:00Speaker 2: And sign up for the It'll come to your free
- 22:02Speaker 2: every day. To your email lizpeak dot com, Lizpeak. How
- 22:06Speaker 2: you doing.
- 22:08Speaker 1: I'm terrific. Thank you for having me on.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Mark, Hey, great to have you. The Fed the decision
- 22:13Speaker 2: later today. They'll do nothing, right.
- 22:16Speaker 1: They'll probably do nothing.
- 22:19Speaker 5: And you know, I've been thinking about this a lot,
- 22:21Speaker 5: of course everyone has. So what is the biggest issue
- 22:25Speaker 5: right now?
- 22:26Speaker 6: What?
- 22:26Speaker 5: You know, you just had Congress come together in a
- 22:30Speaker 5: bipartisan fashion to pass a housing bill. Congress almost never
- 22:35Speaker 5: does anything in a bipartisan fashion. And as Steve Forbes
- 22:39Speaker 5: said to me yesterday on set, you know, it's a
- 22:41Speaker 5: problem if it's bipartisan. And I kind of agree with him.
- 22:45Speaker 5: I mean, I think this is a little bit of
- 22:47Speaker 5: a boneheaded bill. Some of it's good, some of the
- 22:50Speaker 5: releasing and removing of permitting and so forth, it's very important.
- 22:55Speaker 5: But what's the biggest issue. It's affordability. What's that all about?
- 22:59Speaker 5: It's more rates. Mortgage rates are too high. The Fed
- 23:02Speaker 5: needs to lower rates. And Mark just ask yourself what
- 23:06Speaker 5: impact does raising or lowering the FED rate have on
- 23:10Speaker 5: oil prices?
- 23:11Speaker 1: The answer is zero.
- 23:13Speaker 5: So oil prices are high obviously because of the war,
- 23:17Speaker 5: they've gone up a fair amount thirty percent or more.
- 23:21Speaker 5: And yes, that's going to feed into all kinds of products, petrochemicals, plastics, fertilizers,
- 23:27Speaker 5: et cetera. Does it have anything to do with interest
- 23:30Speaker 5: rates that the Feder setting, No, it has none. So
- 23:34Speaker 5: you know, usually the Canesiine approach is the raise interest
- 23:38Speaker 5: rates to damp and demand. No one's going to drive
- 23:41Speaker 5: less or consume less plastics because the FED lowers interest rates.
- 23:46Speaker 1: That is a fact.
- 23:47Speaker 5: So you know, I think the two issues are totally separate.
- 23:52Speaker 5: I think the FED should acknowledge that. I hope they do,
- 23:57Speaker 5: and they set the stage for lower interest rates as
- 23:59Speaker 5: the year goes on, because we do have a pretty
- 24:02Speaker 5: sluggish employment market right now. There is their dual mandate,
- 24:06Speaker 5: as you well know, they're supposed to be watching the
- 24:08Speaker 5: jobs market and inflation.
- 24:12Speaker 1: And what we really need to.
- 24:14Speaker 5: Do is to get Kevin warsh in there as head
- 24:17Speaker 5: of the FED. It's not a guarantee that he's going
- 24:19Speaker 5: to lead the FED and lowering rates, but it's sure
- 24:21Speaker 5: a pretty good bet that Jay Powell isn't going to
- 24:24Speaker 5: do that. And we have this absurd to me situation
- 24:29Speaker 5: where Janine Piro, who I like and admire very much,
- 24:32Speaker 5: is hanging on to what I think is a completely
- 24:37Speaker 5: flimsy and inconsequential pursuit of J. Powell is supposedly having
- 24:45Speaker 5: mismanaged or possibly even crookedly managed the building of the
- 24:49Speaker 5: FED headquarters. For heaven's sakes, get rid of this, get
- 24:53Speaker 5: rid of it, get rid of Tom Tillis's objection to
- 24:55Speaker 5: getting the Kevin Worst nomination through, and let's start over
- 25:00Speaker 5: with a new, better, more efficient, and more up to
- 25:02Speaker 5: date Federal Reserve, which is what has to happen.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Well, J.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Powell, long run. Yeah, no, apologies, J.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Powell.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Building the new FED building for what should have cost
- 25:12Speaker 2: six hundred million ends up costing three billions of definite,
- 25:16Speaker 2: definite mismanagement there. But you're right, yeah, court case.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Is going to go criminal. No, he's not a criminal.
- 25:22Speaker 5: I mean, I think he's an ineffectual FED chair and
- 25:25Speaker 5: obviously a very ineffectual overseer of a construction project. But
- 25:30Speaker 5: if every construction manager in Washington, DC who oversaw a
- 25:35Speaker 5: cost overrun went to jail, you know, the streets would
- 25:39Speaker 5: be a lot lighter.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Let's just say that.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Yeah, But you know, if you can't manage the construction
- 25:43Speaker 2: of a building. If you're that unaware, if you're that bumbling,
- 25:46Speaker 2: why should you manage the American economy?
- 25:49Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, so let's get rid of him. And the
- 25:51Speaker 5: only way we're going to get rid of him is
- 25:53Speaker 5: by replacing him. And we can't replace him now because
- 25:56Speaker 5: we have a you know, a Republican supposedly Republican said
- 26:00Speaker 5: who's saying he won't further the nomination unless they drop
- 26:03Speaker 5: these charges. So this is sort of easy in my head.
- 26:06Speaker 5: We want Jay Powell out, get rid of this.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Yeah, when would we get a new FED chairman? As
- 26:11Speaker 2: it may that a new federmans And yes, we get
- 26:15Speaker 2: a new FED chairman. J Powell can stay on the
- 26:17Speaker 2: FED board, correct.
- 26:18Speaker 5: He can for I think it's two and a half
- 26:21Speaker 5: more years after that. Oh okay, well, I mean the
- 26:25Speaker 5: question is will he do that? I'm not sure that
- 26:27Speaker 5: he will. Is not very I mean this is true
- 26:30Speaker 5: in corporate world too. It's not very much fun to
- 26:32Speaker 5: see the top role and then hang around to sort
- 26:35Speaker 5: of see what happens next. That generally speaking, is not
- 26:39Speaker 5: a recipe for success.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Yeah, the Save Act, it makes perfect sense to everybody
- 26:46Speaker 2: in America. You got to show your driver's license, your
- 26:48Speaker 2: photo ID to vote. You got to do that to
- 26:51Speaker 2: enter any building in Manhattan. You got to show that
- 26:53Speaker 2: to buy prescriptions for a million things. Uh so, what
- 26:58Speaker 2: do you think will.
- 26:59Speaker 5: It ever have to do it to snow under mayor
- 27:01Speaker 5: Mom Danie have two means of identification?
- 27:05Speaker 1: Mark No. One.
- 27:06Speaker 5: I also think very few people are challenging. Certainly nobody
- 27:10Speaker 5: on the right is challenging the need for voter ID.
- 27:13Speaker 1: The problem now is they sort.
- 27:14Speaker 5: Of gunked up this bill with issues that they knew
- 27:18Speaker 5: that Democrats were going to have a hard time voting for,
- 27:21Speaker 5: like transgender you know, letting boys play in girls' sports
- 27:25Speaker 5: and all these things. I agree with everything in the bill,
- 27:28Speaker 5: but my view is that they should have I think
- 27:32Speaker 5: they should junk the whole thing and have a one
- 27:34Speaker 5: issue bill on the floor.
- 27:36Speaker 1: The one issue is voter ID.
- 27:38Speaker 5: Make Democrats vote against something that eighty plus percent of
- 27:43Speaker 5: the country applauds. And I really think that is the
- 27:47Speaker 5: way to pass this. And frankly, the Republicans in Congress
- 27:50Speaker 5: need a few wins right now. They need to actually
- 27:52Speaker 5: pass some things to have the President sign it, and
- 27:56Speaker 5: let's have voter ID. And if you want to complicate
- 27:58Speaker 5: it a little bit by having the registration a proof
- 28:01Speaker 5: of citizenship. I applaud that as well. I know Democrats
- 28:05Speaker 5: have all kinds of objections to that. Dick Blumenthal just
- 28:08Speaker 5: came out and said he didn't know where his birth
- 28:10Speaker 5: certificate was, and I tweeted back that if he doesn't
- 28:12Speaker 5: know where his passport is, then he's really got a
- 28:14Speaker 5: cognitive problem. But you know, I think there we could
- 28:18Speaker 5: have this bill simpler, better and again make it clear
- 28:23Speaker 5: to the American public what's in it. Now you've got
- 28:25Speaker 5: all this other stuff, and I think that was a
- 28:27Speaker 5: huge mistake.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:29Speaker 2: You know, a while back, I wasn't sure where my
- 28:31Speaker 2: birth certificate was and I went online and there's about
- 28:33Speaker 2: ten thousand sites that you can go to that will
- 28:36Speaker 2: get you over you get a copy, get a replacement
- 28:38Speaker 2: birth certificate in two weeks. It's easy to do. So, yes, hey,
- 28:42Speaker 2: this Joe Kent, this counter terrorism whatever he is, who
- 28:46Speaker 2: quit and protest? How long before we see him as
- 28:50Speaker 2: a host on MSNBC or CNN.
- 28:52Speaker 5: Ahha, Probably that could happen. Although he is I think
- 28:58Speaker 5: emerging as a bit of a wing nut. And what
- 29:00Speaker 5: I mean by that is he's really on the far
- 29:02Speaker 5: reaches of this sort of Israeli conspiracy, plus you know,
- 29:11Speaker 5: anti Semitism, right in league with people like Tucker Carlson,
- 29:16Speaker 5: Megan Kelly and so forth, who think this whole war
- 29:19Speaker 5: is about Israel. And I have to say, mark, of
- 29:22Speaker 5: all the presidents we've had in recent times, or even
- 29:26Speaker 5: political leaders, the idea that Donald Trump is being led
- 29:30Speaker 5: by the nose by a foreign ally Benjamin at Yahu,
- 29:35Speaker 5: is so ludicrous to me. I don't know anybody who
- 29:38Speaker 5: is more self determined, let us say, than Donald Trump, right,
- 29:44Speaker 5: I mean, and completely does what he wants to do
- 29:47Speaker 5: when he wants to do it, et cetera. Joe Kent, yes,
- 29:51Speaker 5: is now a darling of the left because he's come
- 29:54Speaker 5: out critical of the war. But you know, look at
- 29:58Speaker 5: what he said in interview. It is just two years
- 30:01Speaker 5: ago about Iran being a major threat to this country.
- 30:05Speaker 5: It's really almost impossible for me to believe. By the way,
- 30:08Speaker 5: a couple of years ago he was talking about maybe
- 30:10Speaker 5: running for office. I have to think some of this
- 30:13Speaker 5: is maybe in preparation for some attempt to run for office.
- 30:16Speaker 5: I don't know, obviously, I don't know, but I think
- 30:21Speaker 5: it's incredibly phony baloney. And you know that's the kind
- 30:25Speaker 5: of heroes the left have right now.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Yeah, very interesting. Well, everybody read Liz Peak's columns, watch
