- 2:30As you know our our board up guy.
- 2:33He's the one and only Tommy Poops.
- 2:35He was crapping in his pants last week.
- 2:37Well, actually on Monday he hopefully will last throughout
- 2:41the show. We'll keep him away from the
- 2:43toilet tonight. Java.
- 2:45It has been a crazy, crazy week. Just baseball.
- 2:48There really isn't anything to talk about right now.
- 2:51The Knicks announced their new head coach, Mike Brown and some
- 2:55interesting statements throughout his press conference
- 2:59with the New York Knicks. We don't have that on the list
- 3:02tonight, but I'm sure I'm going to get into at some point on the
- 3:05show. I mean, Mike Brown's a complete
- 3:08idiot. He looked really bad at the
- 3:10press conference. I got a chance to check out the
- 3:1325 minute press conference of just an absolute debacle.
- 3:17Leon Rose should have kept him away from the mic because he's
- 3:19not very good on the mic, that's for damn sure.
- 3:22The Knicks hire these guys that are just absolutely just
- 3:26tremendously stupid on a damn mic.
- 3:28Let's keep him away from the mic and just stick to basketball.
- 3:31So it's been a very warm week. It's been rainy here in Long
- 3:35Island, Long Island, New York. How is it in Nebraska right now?
- 3:40It's not too bad. There's some storms supposed to
- 3:43be rolling in, but it's the humidity like usual.
- 3:46But other than that, it hasn't been too terribly bad.
- 3:49It is it has been hot, but it's been bearable.
- 3:52The the humidity gets you your powder turns to paste but but
- 3:57other than that it's it's not too bad.
- 3:59I am lost. I am absolutely lost when it
- 4:01comes to these press conferences for New York.
- 4:04I, I, it doesn't matter who it is.
- 4:06It could be Aaron Boone and obviously Boone's been with the
- 4:09Yankees for over 5 years. It could be Tom Thibodeau who
- 4:12sits there and answers the questions and looks like he's
- 4:14going to turn red or half his hair is going to fall out of his
- 4:17head. Or at least the rest of his hair
- 4:19looks like he's going to fall out of his head.
- 4:21We've seen many, many different coaches and managers go up there
- 4:26at press conference. Remember Rex Ryan Speedy with
- 4:28his mop on his head? It does.
- 4:30And then Robert Sala, deer in the headlights as we call him
- 4:33Bambi. He he doesn't even know how to
- 4:35speak to the press because he's so, you know, I think he's so
- 4:39lost when it comes to the game of football.
- 4:41He just lost his way on a damn mic.
- 4:44And so let's not forget one in between the great out of gates
- 4:46with his googly eyes. Yeah, well, I, I, let's stop
- 4:49getting into the New York Jets. I just, I brought up Robert Sala
- 4:52because he is Bambi. We brought him up so many times
- 4:55on this show, so I had to throw him under the bus as you see
- 4:58right there on the. Direction of the graphic.
- 5:00Well, obviously San Francisco, now San Francisco has to deal
- 5:04with his deer in the headlights ass.
- 5:05But nevertheless it there's something about New York and the
- 5:10press conferences with some of these guys, even the athletes
- 5:13are a little lost when they get on their mics and they try to
- 5:16speak to the press and they ask, and I'll say this, everybody
- 5:19says about the New York press is that they're crazy.
- 5:22They're mean. They like to get answers or
- 5:25questions out that make no sense or try to pull something from
- 5:29the athletes that the athletes don't want to answer.
- 5:31But I don't even think it has anything to do with the press.
- 5:34I just think the athletes are so damn stupid here.
- 5:36They'll answer any question. I would sit there and say, I
- 5:40plead the fifth. I plead the fifth.
- 5:42I've got no answers for this. I plead the 5th.
- 5:44No, these stupid guys, and I'm not naming anybody.
- 5:48They go out there and they say, yeah, I'll answer that stupid
- 5:50question. Why not?
- 5:52I'll be stupid today. You know, it's just, it's dumb.
- 5:55It's absolutely dumb. And Mike Brown, I and I know
- 5:58everybody, this is not something we we're going to get into.
- 6:01But I have to say this, when I watched that press conference,
- 6:05not only is he a deer in the headlights, I really don't think
- 6:09he had, he had anybody there helping him out.
- 6:13He had no PR person there. He had no management.
- 6:16They're giving him information as as these questions were
- 6:20coming out. And he said, well, Tom Thibodeau
- 6:23did a great job and and meanwhile, he got the job from
- 6:26Tom Thib and then threw himself under the bus because he was
- 6:29stuttering the whole time because he couldn't answer the
- 6:31questions. He was lost.
- 6:34That press conference just told me one thing.
- 6:37Did the Knicks actually make the right choice on the coach that
- 6:40they picked? Or maybe he's just absolutely
- 6:43not going to speak to the players and he's just going to
- 6:46go out there and point fingers through this.
- 6:49I know it has nothing to do with Bambi because Robert Sala,
- 6:53really, he didn't have to say anything.
- 6:55He was just an idiot. I think Mike Brown actually
- 6:57knows what he's doing. I just don't know if he he's the
- 7:01right guy for the job when it comes to speaking here in New
- 7:03York. When you go up and you speak to
- 7:06the president, Jobby, you know this more than anybody.
- 7:08You played for the Yankees and many, many times you've been up
- 7:11there when you were pitching and you had to deal with obviously
- 7:14in Cleveland with all the Nats and all the craziness.
- 7:18These all the different guys, all the different writers, all
- 7:21the different newspaper, you know, publicist, everybody are
- 7:25out there asking you questions. You know, they're going to ask
- 7:27you questions you don't want to answer.
- 7:29And usually if you were smart, and there are not many smart
- 7:33guys when it comes to here in New York, the athletes in New
- 7:36York, you would answer a question trying to beat a beat
- 7:39around the Bush. These guys, including the
- 7:42coaches, they don't know how to do that.
- 7:44And the PR people are just absolutely stupid.
- 7:47They can't help these guys. What speak?
- 7:49I mean, you're there, John, but you've been here before.
- 7:51You've understood that. I am just embarrassed.
- 7:54I would be embarrassed if I was Leon Rose when I had Mike Brown
- 7:57go up there and look like a complete idiot.
- 8:01Yeah, I think there's we, we had media training for like a week
- 8:06before, like we, we did it in spring training and I think it
- 8:10really, it really helped some people and other people didn't
- 8:14really, really pay attention. I guess after my first year, I
- 8:21basically was able to, to lead the, the PR list just because
- 8:25of, you know, questions and whatever it's you answer the
- 8:29question without answering the question.
- 8:31And when you say you plead the fifth, you don't ever do that
- 8:34because then that takes away your words.
- 8:37And now they have the power of the pen so they can create
- 8:40whatever they want. Like when Pavano came over and
- 8:43lied about what what happened. And then they find out if you're
- 8:47honest and upfront with the media there people are like, I
- 8:52hate them. And it's like, no, they're doing
- 8:54their job. Like there have been times where
- 8:55they've had to ask questions. They're like, I don't want to
- 8:57ask this question, but I have to, it's not my question.
- 9:00It's coming from above. And so if you just treat them
- 9:03with respect, there's some you don't like, but that's with any
- 9:06job. I it doesn't matter, But you
- 9:08have to have a little bit of feel And if there's questions
- 9:12that, you know, partake in something where you don't want
- 9:14to throw somebody on the bus, whatever.
- 9:15You answer the question without answering the question.
- 9:19And they'll try to, they'll try to reword it in a different way
- 9:22to get you to answer it. But if you have any wits about
- 9:25you, it, it's it. But when I say plead, when I say
- 9:29plead the 5th, I'm not saying like, oh, I'm going to go out
- 9:31there and plead the 5th. I try to beat around the Bush.
- 9:33I try to not answer the question, but answer the
- 9:36question in a professional kind of way.
- 9:38That's what you would do if somebody came to me right now
- 9:41and asked me a question about Jabba the mouth and say, hey,
- 9:44what do you think about working with Jabba?
- 9:45If I didn't like working with you, I, I wouldn't say I, I
- 9:48think that guy's an ass. No, I would beat around the Bush
- 9:51and say, you know what? I could shave one side of the
- 9:53balls, but you know, the other side might be a little too
- 9:56bushy, if you know what I mean. But I, I, that's the way I would
- 10:00answer those questions. Nevertheless, I am a
- 10:03professional person. I know how to answer questions.
- 10:06I'm not going to sit there and say but but but but but but but
- 10:09but. When you start, when you start
- 10:11stumbling over words too, then then they, their mind starts
- 10:15turning too. And they're like, all right,
- 10:18well, he's either hiding something or doesn't want to say
- 10:20something. And then they try to pry and
- 10:22it's just they can tell when you're uncomfortable.
- 10:25They can tell when you don't want to answer something.
- 10:27I mean, it's pretty easy. Like there was there was a time
- 10:30where, you know, Carter, my son was always around it and I
- 10:33couldn't throw my fastball for a strike.
- 10:35It was bad. I remember like Carter, you said
- 10:37that. Yeah, Yeah.
- 10:38And Carter comes in. I was like, hey, there's,
- 10:39there's there you go. Like I can't give it to you more
- 10:42bluntly honest than that. And they love that.
- 10:45They love like just the honesty, like because we know.
- 10:48But it's when you try to sugar coat it or you try to do like, I
- 10:52had a great relationship. Obviously we've had one of one
- 10:55who's still a friend to this day that writes for MLB and Brian
- 10:57Hoke and you know, I love George King and in those guys.
- 11:02And it was just because it it was like, Hey, I understand
- 11:06you're doing a job. I understand and I'm never going
- 11:09to run and I may take an extra 510 minutes where I think a lot
- 11:13of people don't use that. They're like, I just want to get
- 11:15this out of the way where, you know, when things go sour or
- 11:19whatever, or if you don't have APR director that can kind of
- 11:21lead you in a direction where take be like, hey, you know
- 11:26what, I'm going to go get some ice or make something up.
- 11:28But be like, hey, you know, give me like 10 minutes.
- 11:30I'll be back instead of, you know, like getting to it and,
- 11:34and rushing your questions and not having time to just like
- 11:37soak it in. But then also don't stand them
- 11:40up and be like, hey, I'll be there in 10 minutes and half
- 11:43hour. You're like, oh, maybe they're
- 11:44not there. They don't like that part
- 11:45either. So I think I'd.
- 11:46Be accountable. I think I'd be the craziest
- 11:48athlete when it comes to answering questions because I
- 11:50would do it in such a funny, ridiculous way where people
- 11:54would be like, that guy's out of his damn mind.
- 11:56You can't be better than Marshawn Lynch.
- 12:01I would throw myself so bad under the buzz.
- 12:03You'd be like, OK, is that guy smoking something or he's just
- 12:06on drugs or something? There we go.
- 12:09Oh my God, Bambi story. There we are.
- 12:13That's a good. One now we just have to make
- 12:15sure. We just have to make sure he
- 12:16doesn't keep receipts. It'll be good.
- 12:19He's I think his head fits better on Bambi's body.
- 12:25Speaking of a deer in the headlights, before yesterday's
- 12:28game, Brian Cashman told the media that he is preparing to go
- 12:33to town at the MLB trade deadline for the Yankees.
- 12:37He added that there's a lot more needs on this Yankee roster than
- 12:42he expected considering how hot the Yankees started the season.
- 12:46He emphasized how the Yankees lost 3 starters from their World
- 12:51Series rotation, so he expects to make a starting pitch their
- 12:56biggest priority despite getting good production from their young
- 13:00players like Will Warren. He also emphasized that the
- 13:04Yankees yes oh God, do not want to wear out their bullpen.
- 13:09Thank God he's opening his eyes even more, but still believes in
- 13:14Devin Williams and Luke Weaver. The Yankees also designated DJ
- 13:19Lemayu for assignment, meaning he's off the Yankees for for a
- 13:2440 man roster and has have seven days to decide if they want to
- 13:30trade or release him. The Yankees still owe DJ Lemayu
- 13:3420 million over the next two years, regardless of what they
- 13:39decide to do with him in the next week.
- 13:42Cashman emphasized he wants jazz Chism, or I say say jazz jism,
- 13:48to be a full time second baseman with him being better
- 13:53defensively there than third base.
- 13:57Well, I by the way, jazz Chism or jism as I always say, I am
- 14:01not going to beat around a Bush here.
- 14:03So if you guys don't know what I'm talking about now, you know
- 14:06he is now entering the Home Run Derby.
- 14:08I am not excited about that. I'm not ecstatic.
- 14:11But all you Yankee fans, you want to see a Yankee in the Home
- 14:14Run Derby, Why not pick the chizzy himself and maybe he'll
- 14:18eat some cheese after. I don't know why he's going in
- 14:21the Home Run Derby, but hey, that's that's the least of my
- 14:25problems right here. The fact that Brian Cashman came
- 14:28out and we all know the Yankees are going into the trade
- 14:32deadline being buyers, they're not going to be sellers.
- 14:35They have never been sellers in the last 35 years.
- 14:39The Yankees have always been buyers.
- 14:41Now, this isn't obviously George Steinbrenner.
- 14:44This is how Steinbrenner and how Steinbrenner wants to make sure
- 14:48that the money is going to be safe when it comes to the luxury
- 14:52tax. And George used to throw money
- 14:54out there like he's buying a city, he's buying a building.
- 14:57So the Yankees have done that many, many times over the years.
- 15:01This is a different Yankee team. Now, obviously there's going to
- 15:05be spots to fill, especially in the rotation, especially in the
- 15:10starting rotation. The Yankees are always looking
- 15:12for a pitcher to fill in certain spots.
- 15:14The Yankees have not really been healthy as far as the rotation
- 15:18is concerned all season long. Believe it or not, the Yankees
- 15:22lineup has been fairly healthy. It's been really their rotation.
- 15:26That hasn't been over the years. It's always been their rotation.
- 15:30I mean, they're, I'm sorry, not the rotation.
- 15:31It's always been their lineup that hasn't been healthy.
- 15:34And the rotation has been fairly healthy over the years.
- 15:38But it's been over five years and Aaron Boone has the one
- 15:43thing I could say Aaron Boone hasn't done very well in his
- 15:47coaching, his managing, is the bullpen.
- 15:49The bullpen is usually one of the best bullpens in baseball.
- 15:52In the first half of the season after the trade deadline, it's
- 15:56arguably one of the worst bullpens in baseball.
- 15:59And this is something that Brian Cashman has to lock in on
- 16:03because not because everybody wants to fire Aaron Boone and
- 16:06everybody's come out on social media.
- 16:08Every Yankee fan thinks that this is Aaron Boone's fault.
- 16:11You can take responsibility and Aaron Boone does take
- 16:15responsibility on the way the team is playing.
- 16:18But the one thing I can say about the Yankees is they're not
- 16:23getting timely hitting. This has been a problem for the
- 16:25Yankees for over 15 years. It's been a problem for them in
- 16:29the playoffs and they need to find guys that are going to fill
- 16:32in certain spots, especially in that lineup that's going to help
- 16:36out Aaron, Aaron Judge. It's going to help out guys like
- 16:39Goldschmidt, who has kind of fallen back.
- 16:41We we said this, he was hot in the beginning of the season.
- 16:44He went from batting 385 for the first month and now he's what,
- 16:49at 280 at at best 275? We, I didn't think he was going
- 16:53to stay at 3:50. I, I thought he, you know, over
- 16:57the next couple of weeks, he was going to drop a little bit over
- 17:00300. But I, I've been very impressed
- 17:03with Paul Gulchman. First of all, he adds
- 17:05leadership. He's a great defender and he's
- 17:07added the offense that the, that the Yankees needed over the last
- 17:12couple of months when losing Juan Soto.
- 17:15And we're going to get into the whole Juan Soto situation.
- 17:18Trust me, we're going to get that.
- 17:20But designating DJ Lemayou is not a surprise.
- 17:25Anybody that thinks it was a surprise that DJ Lemayu was
- 17:29being designated, well then you don't know what's going on with
- 17:33the fact that the Yankees are not getting enough from DJ
- 17:36Lemayu. What they're paying for him now,
- 17:38they're still going to have to pay DJ Lemayu no matter where he
- 17:41goes. If the Yankees decide to trade
- 17:43him, if the Yankees decide to release him, he's still going to
- 17:46get paid. So it doesn't matter if he's on
- 17:47the roster or not. But right now, he's taking away
- 17:51a spot where you can bring up or trade for where you can air.
- 17:55They had certain offensive options that the Yankees haven't
- 17:59had all season. The infield, they really,
- 18:02Volpe's been a shell of what he was in his rookie season.
- 18:05And I'm not saying he was hitting and he wasn't hitting
- 18:07for average last year, but he's been absolutely putrid
- 18:12throughout this season. And he's not giving you enough
- 18:14offense. He really hasn't been the
- 18:16defensive player he was in his rookie year.
- 18:18Remember, he won the Gold Glove for the American League last
- 18:20year. And now this year he's made some
- 18:23errors, he's made mistakes, and the Yankees are losing faith
- 18:27that this guy could be the future when it comes to the
- 18:30shortstop position. But I will say this, Devin
- 18:35Williams, who started off very, very slow for the Yankees, very
- 18:38slow. He was horrible.
- 18:39I think his ERA was at 9 at one point.
- 18:42I think even higher, like 12 something.
- 18:44Yeah, I think, I think it got to like 12 1/2.
- 18:46All right. It's definitely different.
- 18:48He's been much better, I think. He's below below A5 now.
- 18:52Yeah, he's starting to get, you know, into, you know, that
- 18:56optional pit pitching Rd. you know, method what she was in
- 19:00Milwaukee. Now he's not as good as he was
- 19:02in Milwaukee. OK, obviously not because in
- 19:04Milwaukee he was he's pitching close to 1 and he's not doing
- 19:08that. But he's giving the Yankees that
- 19:108th inning help. Luke Weaver has been such a
- 19:12great optional pitcher in that bullpen where you've moved him
- 19:16from the seventh position, 7th inning to the 8th inning to the
- 19:199th inning and closing for the Yankees over the last two
- 19:23seasons. And he went from a guy that was
- 19:25a starter, now he's been a bullpen specialist.
- 19:28He's been fantastic. The Yankees need to add another
- 19:30arm in that bullpen that's going to help these guys take some
- 19:35pressure off of guys like Devin Williams and Luke Weaver.
- 19:37That's something I think a guy like Brian Cashman has to look
- 19:41at because again, the bullpen is so important making this playoff
- 19:46front. The Yankees have fallen behind
- 19:47the Blue Jays. I do not believe the Blue Jays
- 19:50are going to keep up this pace. I don't think they're that good
- 19:53as as a matter of fact, they have players like Vladimir
- 19:56Guerrero got a lot of money, actually $325 million upfront,
- 20:00which is the most I've ever seen a player in professional sports
- 20:03ever get. But nevertheless, he he's a guy
- 20:06that's having a good season but. Again, I don't trust their
- 20:09rotation and their bullpen has been iffy over the last two
- 20:12seasons. And they're they have a lot of
- 20:13young pitchers in that rotation. So I expect the Blue Jays to
- 20:17start to make, you know, to make a dip.
- 20:21I do believe that the Yankees should make a run out of a big
- 20:26time hitter in this in this lineup.
- 20:28They need to add another big bat in this lineup, maybe a
- 20:31left-handed bat, maybe a switch hitter.
- 20:33I, I just, I, I think that this this lineup is not enough to
- 20:38make a run for a World Series like they did last year.
- 20:41They got very lucky. Juan Soto got hot in the
- 20:43playoffs against Cleveland and he didn't play very well in the
- 20:47World Series. We all know what Juan Soto did
- 20:49in the in the playoffs, but except in the World Series, I
- 20:53think the Yankees need to at least one or two bats.
- 20:56But Brian Cashman coming out and saying, hey, you know what we're
- 20:59going to do? We're all in at the trade
- 21:01dealer. We know he's all in.
- 21:03He's always been all in. The question is, is he going to
- 21:06make the right moves? That is going to put the Yankees
- 21:09in the right position to make that run.
- 21:12Yeah. And also we wonder like he's
- 21:13saying this now, is he trying to accelerate the market faster in
- 21:17order to do that? Is he trying to emphasize, all
- 21:19right, we're going to go in on these positions in specific,
- 21:22which is a good thing that he didn't say specifically that.
- 21:24At the same time, I don't love what him saying about like, all
- 21:27right, we're going to label Jazz Chisholm in just a second
- 21:29baseman and that's going to take away the second base trade
- 21:31market at the trade deadline. Meaning are you only going to go
- 21:34for 3rd baseman in the infield? Are you only thinking about
- 21:36moving someone else to third base?
- 21:38Are you? I think that'll limit the market
- 21:40in that regard of what the competition is because like
- 21:43we've talked about fish many times, second base has been a
- 21:46weak position this year. So maybe that's what he's trying
- 21:48to emphasize. At the same time, if you want to
- 21:50make some kind of big swing, if I don't know how available he'll
- 21:53get to be for somebody like a Patel Marte, I think that could
- 21:56be an option for for them to be able to go at.
- 21:59As far as the pitching is concerned, I'm not as good with
- 22:00the late. I'm not as big on the labels as
- 22:02much as you want to have starters, relievers type thing,
- 22:04but you want to have some kind of versatility and pitching
- 22:07depth. That's what wins.
- 22:08Now. It's not as much of those raw
- 22:09789 bull pens anymore. It's more of those versatile
- 22:13bullpens that could do so many different things, even ones that
- 22:15aren't ranked as good statistically and still win.
- 22:18So if they can get enough depth in multiple guys from that
- 22:20regard, either in their farm system or within their within
- 22:23the trade deadline where relievers aren't as priced.
- 22:25What big arms are available? I mean, Michael King is not
- 22:28going to be available because he's not 100% healthy.
- 22:30I thought he was an absolute Sam Dunk for the New York Yankees.
- 22:33He's a guy that came up in the Yankees farm system.
- 22:36He would have been perfect. He was a guy that Brian Cashman
- 22:39didn't want to let go in the Juan Soto trade.
- 22:41He was a guy that I definitely didn't want to let go, but now
- 22:44he's not going to be available because he's not 100% healthy.
- 22:47So where do the Yankees go when it comes to rotation arm help?
- 22:51Do they go after another lefty or do they add a right a righty
- 22:55in this pitching staff? So I there's a lot and Marcus
- 22:58Strowman. Where has Marcus Strowman been?
- 23:02He's. Kind of stuck in the middle.
- 23:03It's like you can't trust him to be a.
- 23:05Star. He was always a good first half
- 23:07pitcher. What has happened to him?
- 23:09Yeah, it's kind of weird to trust.
- 23:10Like I think the Yankees, what's what's interesting with them is
- 23:13they could also go after guys that have played in both roles
- 23:15as well, veteran guys on teams that maybe are back end guys.
- 23:20Like 2 teams that come into mind is Kansas City and Texas who
- 23:22have such good pitching Staffs. So maybe they can afford to
- 23:25trade a pitcher or so. And then they their offenses are
- 23:28just so bad this year. So maybe even a one for one
- 23:31swap, something they can consider just to get the Yankees
- 23:33a little more depth in their. Rotation.
- 23:34Nobody wants Marcus Strowman. That's the problem.
- 23:37Nobody wants Marcus Strowman. The salary.
- 23:42No, I'm I'm waiting. That's why I said Jabba.
- 23:44Nobody wants Marcus Stroman. Oh yeah, I mean his salary in
- 23:47that. But I'm going to, I'm going to
- 23:48go back to what Speedy said. Speedy, I'm going to firmly and
- 23:51hardly disagree with you on the versatility of the back end of
- 23:55the bullpen. And I'll tell you why.
- 23:57Because if you don't know, if you're the 6th inning guy, 7th
- 23:59inning guy, 8th inning guy, 9th inning guy, you don't know when
- 24:03to prepare. You can prepare physically, but
- 24:06mentally to be locked in, not knowing if you're coming to set
- 24:08up or you're coming to close is the hardest thing to do because
- 24:12you can't be locked in that long.
- 24:14Do I start warming up in the 4th?
- 24:16Do I keep my routine as the closer guy when I start getting
- 24:19ready in the 6th or how do I do it?
- 24:21So now every day is something different.
- 24:23So I'm going to disagree with you on that because yes, you're
- 24:26going to have guys where they can step in and fill that closer
- 24:29role if somebody's gone three days in a row or 4 out of five.
- 24:33But if you don't have a set standard in that role, I don't
- 24:36think your bullpen can be as good as it is.
- 24:38Nobody knows if Luke is closing, Devon's going to close and we
- 24:42we've seen it bounce back and forth.
- 24:44Look at all the teams that are successful and have one World
- 24:47Series. What was the back end of their
- 24:48bullpen? Guys could step up when they
- 24:50needed it, but each guy, there was a setup guy, there was a get
- 24:55him out of a jam guy and there was a closer.
- 24:56And nine times out of 10, that's the role that they set up in.
- 25:01And so it's. More or less of not as much of A
- 25:03like set roll over the time Jabba.
- 25:05I think it's more of the label that they have at the trade
- 25:07deadline too. Like I look at the Braves of the
- 25:08example, look at how many like 3 new relievers they got and none
- 25:12of them were true. Oh, well, I think the trade
- 25:13deadline doesn't matter as far as a label for what the bullpen
- 25:17is. I mean, you know, it's it's what
- 25:20they they see fit of, of what's the void that they're going to
- 25:24fill is why they're going to and they're going to do what's also
- 25:27available. Yeah.
- 25:28And who's and who they're going to get rid of.
- 25:30Who do they want? And you know, a lot of it too is
- 25:33are they going to sell and be like, OK, we need to get
- 25:37something back for these big league ready guys.
- 25:41How much are you willing to give up?
- 25:42How much are you willing to move shake?
- 25:45How much salary are you willing to take on what's left of a
- 25:48salary left of a years of a contract?
- 25:50Like, there's so much that goes into it and he can say whatever
- 25:54he wants to say. He says it every year.
- 25:56What'd they do last year? They got a reliever that nobody
- 25:58knew the hell he was. And he's like, Yep, we got
- 26:00another reliever. No, you didn't do anything.
- 26:03And so he talks all this mess every year.
- 26:06Hal's going to come down to numbers.
- 26:07Cash is going to say he did something and all in like, Oh
- 26:11yeah. What he did with DJDJ had played
- 26:14his balls off. He gave everything.
- 26:16He's he was so hurt. You guys have no idea.
- 26:19I got a lot of information from the inside about like how he,
- 26:23like, it wasn't for lack of effort of trying to get back,
- 26:27like he just had put himself through the wringer and just he
- 26:30couldn't physically do it anymore.
- 26:32And he gave everything he got. And yeah, he was upset, but I
- 26:36wouldn't be too upset. You're going home still making
- 26:3822 million, so he's going to be fine.
- 26:40Jabba Jabba The guy that I want to see get called up is Spencer
- 26:44Jones. He's been very, very hot right
- 26:46now. The last three weeks he's been
- 26:48hot. He's been called up from AA to
- 26:50triple AI think he's batting 375 in the last 2 1/2 weeks.
- 26:56He's been as hot as any Yankee in their farm system when it
- 26:59comes to bats. Now a lot of people think that
- 27:01they're going to wait at least one more year to call this kid
- 27:04up. But if if he's hitting like that
- 27:06in AAA, why not see what the kid has in in a week or two and and
- 27:10see what he could do in the light up.
- 27:12Maybe adding him to a lineup, maybe, you know, a double headed
- 27:16game on a weekend. See what this guy could do in
- 27:18the outfield, see what he could do as A5 tool player.
- 27:21Now they say he's got tremendous speed, he's got tremendous
- 27:24power. He's he, I did read that he's
- 27:27fixed, fixed the speed of his bat in the offseason.
- 27:31I, I think his stance is a little different than it was
- 27:34last year. So it it's definitely helped him
- 27:36when it comes to the plate. Now, obviously he's still very
- 27:39young. He's 2223 years old and the
- 27:42Yankees. So if you remember Aaron Judge,
- 27:45you didn't see Aaron Judge until what, 2425 years old until they
- 27:49called him up in the middle of the season and then his 20.
- 27:53Aaron Judge went to college, too.
- 27:54Yes, he did. And 25 at 25, Aaron Judge won
- 27:59the rookie of the year and had that unbelievable season.
- 28:01He was almost up for an MVP if it wasn't for Altuve.
- 28:04If you remember that. Cheating Altuve.
- 28:06Yeah. So I again, I, I'm not saying
- 28:09Spencer Jones is Aaron Judge, but what the Yankees think that
- 28:12this kid could be, could be the future of this outfield when
- 28:17Aaron Judge has to step it step down or give somebody the reign
- 28:21for the future when it comes to power or a superstar that the
- 28:25Yankees are going to be calling up in the future.
- 28:27I could see, yeah, I could see why they would do it.
- 28:31I can see why they wouldn't. It's a very sample size of what
- 28:35he's done in AAA and I can see why because everybody's excited
- 28:40about it and he's obviously shown and made the adjustment.
- 28:44But then it's OK. Now what happens?
- 28:46You bring him up and he absolutely shits the bed and
- 28:49goes O for 35. Now did you, did you make him
- 28:52worse or did you make him better?
- 28:54And the development side of it is, is it, is it sexy to bring
- 28:57him up because is it going to put butts in seats?
- 29:00Yeah. But as much as they love him,
- 29:02right now in Tripoli he goes O for 30 and makes 2 airs in the
- 29:05outfield. We're going to be having a
- 29:07different conversation. Was that the right movement?
- 29:09But Jabba, what happens if if he's a piece that the Yankees
- 29:12are looking to trade to add another big bat, You call him
- 29:15up, he gets a little hot, he goes up to the plate maybe 10
- 29:18times and gets what, two home runs out of 10/10 at bats?
- 29:22Then you have something to oh, we got a guy that's a future.
- 29:25Superstar, everybody. Everybody already knows what
- 29:27he's going to do. Doing it in the big leagues and
- 29:29say they called him up today in four games isn't going to raise
- 29:33his stock or lessen his stock. They're already projecting him
- 29:37and that's all it is, is projections until he actually
- 29:39goes and proves it. Yeah.
- 29:40Volpe was supposed to be the next Derek Jeter.
- 29:42We he's going to be a career 220 hitter.
- 29:44Yeah. So we we know what you're going
- 29:46to get. So I could see why we do it.
- 29:48I I would be excited to see him. Like, it's nice that, you know,
- 29:51they they cover some of these minor league games and we get to
- 29:54watch them for free. Like when Skeens was in the
- 29:56minor leagues and some of these other young big prospects.
- 29:58I kind of I kind of relate him to CAG Leone from Kansas City
- 30:02and and kind of how the rise and the stature left-handed, you
- 30:08know, big prospect type of deal and keg learn just hit like a
- 30:11490 foot Homer the other day. So his is translated very well.
- 30:16So I could see it from both sides.
- 30:18It's just I don't know the kid personally.
- 30:21So I don't know how he would handle that failure of coming
- 30:24up. So I'm.
- 30:25Reading, I'm reading numbers right now what he's doing in AAA
- 30:28now going going into the season in AA, he had sixteen home runs
- 30:33in 49 AA games this season. And but since he's been called
- 30:38up to AAA, he's cranked 5 bombs and is in his first 10 contest.
- 30:44When you tack on the three double S and eight walks, he's
- 30:48got a 1.315 OPS right now in AAA.
- 30:52He's the hottest hitter right now in AAA in baseball.
- 30:56And and again, it's still such a short sample size, but the
- 31:00Yankees need some kind of spark. They need some kind of spark in
- 31:03that maybe calling him up a week or two weeks.
- 31:07Then you have something. If he gets a little hot up here,
- 31:09nobody's seen him. Nobody's real.
- 31:11None of these starters have actually seen him at the plate
- 31:14and he gets hot. Then the Yankees have something
- 31:16if they want to add a big bat and they have somebody out there
- 31:19they're interested in, oh, we have Spencer Jones.
- 31:21We'll trade you Spencer Jones for that bat or this bat or add
- 31:25Spencer Jones in a, in a trade where you can add a pitcher or a
- 31:29bullpen bullpen pitcher and a hitter to that, that, that,
- 31:33that. I disagree completely.
- 31:35Errol, like if they bring him up and he sucks like Jack Hagley
- 31:38owns hit him 151. He was brought up.
- 31:40He's not helping that team win. He has the power.
- 31:43We've seen it every once in a while he's running into them and
- 31:46crushing them and so we know the talents there.
- 31:48He's not ready. Spencer Jones is striking out
- 31:5133% of the time. So was Aaron Judge.
- 31:54So was no. He wasn't.
- 31:55Aaron Judge was under. 30 Aaron Judge was striking out a lot
- 31:58when he got called up. He was at 37 percent, 37%.
- 32:02It doesn't matter your goal. It does.
- 32:04Yeah, OK, it does. It does.
- 32:07There's a certain point you can't be above, and if you're
- 32:10over 30 something percent, most of those guys don't make it in
- 32:13Major League Baseball. This is the.
- 32:15Yankee Judge is like 22. Well, 23.
- 32:17Right, I don't care. The Yankees need a spark.
- 32:19And they're. Not well they should because
- 32:21doesn't get anything that he's doing anything there because
- 32:23there's nowhere to play him. What do you bring him up?
- 32:25The name is what are you going to play them?
- 32:26They do where what is he doing? Where what is Anthony Volpe
- 32:29doing he but that's irrelevant has nothing to do with this.
- 32:32What did they call this Harold? It makes no sense what trade
- 32:35Spencer Jones torpedo. Well, as you know the Yankees
- 32:38hype their prospects. Spencer Jones isn't even a top
- 32:41100 prospect in baseball hyping that he can trade him while he's
- 32:45got the name recognition and getting some bombs.
- 32:47His his bad BIP right now in AAA is 476.
- 32:51That's called not unsustainable. He's not going to be that good
- 32:54regular bad that's 300. So he's not going to hit this
- 32:57one. There's no possible way with you
- 32:59take advantage. Now with you is all you do is
- 33:02look. I'm sorry, I make too much
- 33:03sense. No, you don't.
- 33:05You look at I make well. Because you don't know any of
- 33:07these terms, you refuse to listen to us, and we teach them
- 33:09to you. I.
- 33:09Don't have to. I don't have to know.
- 33:11These well, you would know that he's not ready if you did.
- 33:13Well, good. And and if Spencer Jones comes
- 33:15back, comes up and he. Actually they would have more
- 33:17value trading him as a AAA player than as a major.
- 33:20I disagree, That's a fact. Well, I disagree because the
- 33:23Yankees have done this many, many times.
- 33:25They've called people up, They've called players up, and
- 33:27some of them have worked and some of that haven't.
- 33:30I still think Luis Savarino. Bellinger, Judge, Dominguez, you
- 33:34have Stanton, you have Ben Rice. Where's he going to go in the
- 33:37lineup? Where do you play him?
- 33:39He's not going to get regular at bats.
- 33:41It makes no sense really to bring him up.
- 33:44Either trading him or Dominguez. That's the only way it works.
- 33:48And Dominguez is playing great right now.
- 33:50Got to move so trade him for. This we got to get.
- 33:54Out of this segment because we're running out of time, but
- 33:56real quick and job, you can comment on it too.
- 33:58The position that we keep hearing is third base and the
- 34:00guy we keep hearing is Eugenio Suarez, he's third base.
- 34:04He's got 29 home runs for the Diamondbacks.
- 34:06They're not going anywhere this year.
- 34:08He's an expiring contract, which means you wouldn't need to give
- 34:11up the whole farm for him. You give him like a second rate
- 34:14prospect to the Diamondbacks and now you have a real power hitter
- 34:19in that lineup. He's got a lot of swing and miss
- 34:21as well, but he's having a great last couple of seasons.
- 34:24I would go for him right now. It would make a ton of sense and
- 34:28then they stabilize that lineup. It makes a ton.
- 34:30Doesn't work out for. Fishes.
- 34:31It makes a ton of sense, that's why.
- 34:33Well, who would? You rather have the guy who's
- 34:35having an. Old first season, ladies and
- 34:37gentlemen. It's it's because what fish
- 34:38wants. If fish wants it, it makes a lot
- 34:40of sense. Who do you want?
- 34:41It's a lot of sense. Who do you want?
- 34:43Thanks a lot. You want to put Spencer Jones
- 34:451/3, Fish? No, that's not what I'm saying.
- 34:47If Spencer Jones is hitting right now and we could get a
- 34:50spark and he can give a spark to the Yankees lineup right now and
- 34:54I think that he is capable of doing that, the Yankees should
- 34:57call him up and see what he could do.
- 34:59For a week or play 3 out it doesn't.
- 35:01It doesn't matter if they, if he's not, if he's not doing
- 35:03well, send them back down. It's not going to just OK.
- 35:06So, so so who do you? Who do you put him in for?
- 35:09I don't right now I'm not even looking at that.
- 35:11I'm looking at. Trade, trade him to the
- 35:13Diamondbacks for Suarez and Merrill Kelly.
- 35:16Merrill Kelly is a pitcher available as well.
- 35:18He's like 36 or 37. He's he's got only got a year or
- 35:22so left on his deal. He would make a lot of sense as
- 35:25well. He's a very good pitcher.
- 35:26He's about a strikeout in the inning, doesn't throw really
- 35:29hard. But he's another one of those
- 35:31guys I know speedy. You were saying the Mets are
- 35:32looking at him. I would want them to, yes.
- 35:35I don't know who's available right now when we know.
- 35:38Those are the guys. Andy Alcantara.
- 35:40After the All Star, All Star game, they're going to be teams
- 35:43that probably don't think they have any chance of making the
- 35:46playoffs where they're going to open up their rosters and say,
- 35:49OK, we got this guy, we got that guy.
- 35:51This is who we're offering. I don't think yet you're going
- 35:54to see teams, you know, on the bottom of those lists to saying,
- 35:57OK, we're this guy's available. That's guy.
- 36:00That guy's available I think after the All Star game and and
- 36:04the trade deadline is what 2 weeks after the All Star game,
- 36:06which is about what 3 weeks the. End of the month, last day of
- 36:09the month. So, so I expect in a week's
- 36:11time, we're going to hear that there are teams that are going
- 36:13to be willing to trade this guy, that guy, or maybe even
- 36:16prospects that they like in their farm system that they
- 36:18believe are going to be really good players in the future.
- 36:21And if I were the Yankees right now, I'd start looking at their
- 36:24future. And and again, the Yankees are,
- 36:27even though they have young players, they're more older than
- 36:30they were, are younger. They have a lot of veterans,
- 36:33guys that have been in a league for a significant amount of
- 36:35time. Who is their future?
- 36:37What do they have to lean on in the future after Aaron Judge is
- 36:41gone? That's the question.
- 36:43Is Spencer Jones the guy? I don't know if the Yankees
- 36:45believe that he is. And if the Yankees believe that
- 36:47he is, they got a they got to hide him and they got to say,
- 36:51you know what? This guy is untouchable.
- 36:53I remember last year Brian Cashman had two guys.
- 36:55He said we're not, we're not trading him.
- 36:57There's no way we're trading him no matter what you give us.
- 37:00And he's one of those guys. Is he a tradable piece or is he
- 37:04non touchable? That's the question I want to
- 37:07know for Brian Cashman and if he's going to go out there and
- 37:09speak about how open he is to make trades at the trade down
- 37:12line. Well, be open and stop beating
- 37:15around the Bush, which I like. I say over the last couple of
- 37:18years, Brian Cashman has been he beats around the Bush and he
- 37:21doesn't get to the answers that we're asking him.
- 37:24And that's who's available and who's not.
- 37:27Quickly before we move on, I like this one from CT Cars, Seth
- 37:30Lugo and Michael Garcia from the Royals.
- 37:32Lugo's having a very Goodyear 2.67 ERA and Garcia is a 25 year
- 37:36old who played both 2nd and 3rd. 300 hitter that could steal
- 37:39bases. After Tuesday's game, Juan Soto
- 37:42responded in an arrogant way to a reporter asking if he would
- 37:47have liked to make the All Star team.
- 37:49When the reporter asked if he wanted to be on the team or Soto
- 37:53responded what do you think team?
- 37:56The reporter responded by saying how other players would like a
- 38:02vacation and Soto made a face at him.
- 38:04Soto was also emphasizing how he wouldn't get to get the All Star
- 38:11game bonus since he didn't make the team, calling it a lot of
- 38:15money left on the table. Players who make an All Star
- 38:18team get 20,000 each, but a clause in Soto's contract gives
- 38:23him an extra 100,000 1000. Soto is making 61 million this
- 38:28season, which is 289,000 per game and is in in his first year
- 38:36of a record setting 15 year, $765 million contract.
- 38:40Soto has made an All Star team just four times in his
- 38:45eight-year stint in the MLB. Juan Soda's a bitch, OK?
- 38:51He's a crybaby, and that's what he is.
- 38:54And This is why, after you hear all these injuries, that Juan
- 38:58Soto is not going to be a part of that roster.
- 39:02The problem right now with guys like Juan Soto is he thinks he's
- 39:06better than he is. He really does.
- 39:09He thinks he's a bigger and better player than Aaron Judges.
- 39:14Now we all know that's not true. And in his heart of hearts
- 39:18before, as the season was prolonging and they were asking
- 39:21questions about Pete Alonso and they were comparing contrasting
- 39:25Pete Alonso to Aaron Judge. He said, I was playing behind
- 39:28the best player or playing in front of the best player in
- 39:30baseball. And now I'm playing against this
- 39:32guy. Now all of a sudden, Pete Alonso
- 39:34is having a great season and he signed his three-year extension
- 39:37and it could be up for free agency if he opts out of the
- 39:40contract in the offseason. And he's one of the hottest
- 39:42hitters in baseball and actually made the All Star team as a
- 39:45reserve. He thinks, hey, you know what,
- 39:48if Pete Alonso made the team, why shouldn't I?
- 39:51I'm the hottest hitter in baseball right now in the last 2
- 39:541/2 weeks. Guess what, Juan?
- 39:56In the first month and a half, you were one of the worst
- 39:59hitters in baseball, and you were batting at one point. 2/20
- 40:04at one point you are absolutely putrid now all of a sudden you
- 40:07got hot, you're bad, got hot you're hitting home runs and
- 40:10you're hitting RB is and you should make the team over this
- 40:12guy, that guy and this guy come on.
- 40:15The fact is right now he should be worried about the Mets making
- 40:19the playoffs, making a run in the second-half of the season,
- 40:21not worrying about $100,000. If you remember before the
- 40:25season started with Beatty, he opened up his pockets because he
- 40:28wanted Beatty's number to buy him a nice beautiful truck.
- 40:32Do you remember that he spent like $55,000 for Beatty because
- 40:37he wanted to make sure he got his number.
- 40:39Now all of a sudden, $100,000 is a lot of money.
- 40:42This guy makes $289,000 per game and he's crying about 100K.
- 40:46Seriously, there are a lot more desperate people right now in
- 40:49the majors, especially some of these young guys.
- 40:52They're not even making anywhere close to that.
- 40:54Ronald Lacuna assigned, what was it, a 10 year, $100 million
- 40:58contract. What was it five years ago?
- 41:01He's making 10 million a year. And you want to know something?
- 41:05If you would ask me right now, who would I rather, Ronald Ocuna
- 41:08or Juan Soto? I'm taking Ronald Lacuna in a
- 41:11heartbeat. It's not even an argument.
- 41:13I think anybody, when you watch Ronald Ocuna at the that at the
- 41:17plate and what he could do when he is healthy in the outfield, I
- 41:21don't think Juan Soto even understands what a star is.
- 41:24Now, I'm not saying that Juan Soto isn't special.
- 41:27I'm not saying that he can't hit in the clutch.
- 41:29I'm not saying Juan Soto hasn't won a World Series with the
- 41:32Nationals at 19 years old. What I'm saying is he thinks
- 41:35he's better than he is. He thinks that he's a top three
- 41:39player. Let's be honest, he's not.
- 41:41Now you can argue he's a top six, top seven player, but there
- 41:45are other players right now in great seasons and a lot of young
- 41:47players coming up that we're watching right in front of our
- 41:50eyes become stars. And one of them, Wood over there
- 41:54with the Nationals, has 23 home runs and 69 RB.
- 41:58Is these guys are young, 22 years old.
- 42:01One, you're 27 now. I'm not saying you're old, but
- 42:04you're getting there at that age where you're going to be a bona
- 42:07fide DH. And he's coming out there and
- 42:09saying he should be a starter, he should be a reserve player.
- 42:12Dude, you are not. You were not good enough in the
- 42:16beginning of the season. I'm not saying you're not good
- 42:18enough in the second-half and you might not be good enough in
- 42:21the second-half. It's just the facts are
- 42:23statistics. And as Fish says, I don't
- 42:26understand statistics. I understand what the line says
- 42:30and the line tells me what is he batting right now, 26265 And I,
- 42:36I don't know, give me the number right now.
- 42:37What is Juan Soto hitting as far as average?
- 42:40Speedy. Let's go type it up.
- 42:41Type it up, Speedy. Mr. Producer, What is he
- 42:44batting? 266. 266 So he's batting 266.
- 42:49Let me ask you guys a question. A bona fide star who's making
- 42:53$765 million. Sixty, 1,000,000 a year.
- 42:58Do you think at 266 he should be making the All Star team?
- 43:03Speedy answer that question, not on someone.
- 43:05I'm asking if you're seeing the batting average right now at
- 43:08266, do you think you should make the make the All Star team
- 43:12over the players in front of him?
- 43:14Tatis, he's having a better. That's not what I'm asking you.
- 43:16That's the only one to finish. That's not what I'm asking you
- 43:19and Tatis is the again, they got to pick one player from each
- 43:23team to make the All Star team. And by the way, Machado is just
- 43:26a star. Machado should make it every
- 43:28year because he's codified the best third baseman in old
- 43:31baseball. Yeah, Machado definitely
- 43:33deserved it, and the five other outfielders above him definitely
- 43:35deserved it too. Obviously Acuna got the starter
- 43:37vote over James Wood, which maybe he doesn't get, but but
- 43:40that's the game's in Atlanta, so that's fine.
- 43:42Like it's the same thing I mentioned with Freeman over
- 43:44Alonzo. You're going to tell me that
- 43:45Ronald Acuna is not after coming back, he's not playing better.
- 43:48He's been great. He's playing better than Watson.
- 43:51No, no, no. I'm saying James Wood.
- 43:52James Woods, I think. James Wood is a young player.
- 43:54Everybody wants to see this young kid in an All Star game.
- 43:57That's what you want to see. You want to see what this guy
- 43:59could do. It's center stage with millions
- 44:02of people watching when it's the number one thing when it comes
- 44:05to sports on television. That's what everybody wants to
- 44:07see. You want to see the Next up and
- 44:09coming Aaron Judge at the plate who's 6 foot 7, who's 280 lbs,
- 44:15who's batting, smacking the ball, you know, 450 feet.
- 44:18That's what you want to see. You don't want to see Juan Soto
- 44:22at the at the plate because he's not getting a hit, crying or
- 44:25making his little wave or pointing his finger because he's
- 44:28not hitting home runs. I think it's just, it's very
- 44:30bitch like. And I say this because Juan Soto
- 44:34has always been this crybaby type of player.
- 44:37Remember when the Mets got Juan Soto, he went up there and he
- 44:40answered questions and he said, well, I, I went to the team that
- 44:44I think has a better chance of winning.
- 44:45And he he said it. So emphasis, you know, emphasis
- 44:48what, what's the word emphatically there it is
- 44:51emphatically saying that this is the team.
- 44:54This is this team has the better chance of winning a
- 44:56championship. When Aaron Judge made a face
- 44:58when the press came to him at spring training and said that,
- 45:01he says, well, I don't know what Juan say.
- 45:03I mean, Juan's a great player, but he's out of his mind pretty
- 45:06much. That's what Aaron Judd said.
- 45:08You're not going to go out there and throw a team under the bus
- 45:11that's made the playoffs convincingly.
- 45:13Convincingly for how many years? Who's had a winning, winning
- 45:18roster for what, 33 years, 34 years?
- 45:22And a Mets team that's won a World Series since 1986?
- 45:25I'm not going to brag about that.
- 45:27Who's made one, One World Series?
- 45:29Yes, One World Series since 1986.
- 45:32You're going to brag about that? I mean, seriously, Juan Soto
- 45:35cannot sell anything. And what he has had to say over
- 45:39the last couple of weeks, and as a matter of fact, I would, if I
- 45:42was Juan Soto, I'd take my nice $61 million and go out and buy
- 45:47myself an island, Go out there to an island somewhere in Tahiti
- 45:52or of that magnitude and go buy himself a yacht and hang out
- 45:56over there with the Sharks with his family.
- 45:59Because he was crying that the Yankees didn't treat his family
- 46:02very right over there with the organization, especially in the
- 46:05playoffs. Because the Yankees wouldn't let
- 46:06him on the field when they were winning, when they won when.
- 46:08I think it gets Cleveland. They wouldn't let him on the on
- 46:11the field when and they were celebrating.
- 46:12I I just think all Juan Soto cares about is himself.
- 46:15He's a me player. He's not a tight team player and
- 46:18that's what it's showing right now.
- 46:20He's not showing you that. Oh, it's all about the Mets.
- 46:22It's all about the organization. It's all about me.
- 46:25Why am I not making $100,000? Why am I not playing the All
- 46:29Star game? Why am not I not respected for
- 46:32the season that I'm having, especially over the last couple
- 46:34of weeks? That is what I see.
- 46:36What? Juan Soto?
- 46:37It's me, me, me and nobody else. Yeah, it makes no sense to bitch
- 46:41about 100 $20,000 just because you didn't get the clause in
- 46:43your contract. Your contract is 14 more years.
- 46:45You make some All Star game appearances, you'll get
- 46:47accumulate all that. That's like point OO 2% of like
- 46:51what you're making per game or per season nevertheless per game
- 46:54where you're making 289,000 and then you're lashing out at a
- 46:57reporter for just asking that question where yeah, if you're a
- 47:00snub, if you're a if you're a guy that's a borderline All
- 47:02Star, Yeah, you're going to be asked that questions, you're
- 47:04going to lash out at the reporter.
- 47:05So it seemed a little bit, you know, like you said, arrogant.
- 47:08It seems like an ego trip that you probably have to expect a
- 47:12little bit with somebody that good, but you were.
- 47:14That good? He's batted 266.
- 47:17Let get his batting average to 300.
- 47:20Do what Aaron Judge is doing, then you could say that.
- 47:22Good. All right, I'm so tired of
- 47:24hearing Juan Soto try to compare himself to Otani and Aaron
- 47:28Judge. He is nowhere close to any one
- 47:30of those guys and he needs to stop.
- 47:32He's making more money than those guys.
- 47:34He's making more money an average every single year than
- 47:37Otani. Otani is a better player than
- 47:39him. That's just a fact.
- 47:40Why is he jumping out there and trying to compare him, to
- 47:44compare himself to the two best players in all the baseball?
- 47:47The face is a baseball. He's not.
- 47:49Stop crying about it. It's also a very loaded position
- 47:52too when you look at the National League outfield
- 47:54starters. We talked about Acuna and James
- 47:55Wood already. The two Cubs guys obviously are
- 47:57going to get in over Soto as well too.
- 47:59So just the circumstances in general, you're not really
- 48:01judging the the top 25 total baseball players because like we
- 48:05were saying, would all these second baseman, all these other
- 48:07relievers or stuff make it all the time too is another
- 48:09question. But it definitely looks bad and
- 48:11immature the way. He did it, yeah.
- 48:13It's he just keeps digging himself a bigger hole for people
- 48:17like to not like him. And it just, it doesn't make
- 48:21sense. And for me, I'm just like, OK,
- 48:25you made the decision that you made, OK.
- 48:27You came out and said it's different hitting, not having
- 48:30Aaron Judge behind you. So you basically, you just took
- 48:33a good old Tommy on Pete Alonso. Did he have A and and then, you
- 48:37know, you come and say this like nobody's feeling sorry for you,
- 48:40dude. Like 100 grand.
- 48:42Yeah, OK, Nobody, nobody's feeling sorry.
- 48:46And I I just, there's so many other ways.
- 48:49And as you, as we talked about handling the media early on the
- 48:53show, it's just understand like what position you're in.
- 48:59Yes, you got off to a slow start.
- 49:01You're doing what you normally do and that's what type of
- 49:05player you are like and just embrace it.
- 49:07You're you got, you got what you wanted, you got your money.
- 49:10So nobody really is going to care or feel bad for you.
- 49:14Like, oh, I'm leaving money on the table.
- 49:17Yeah, but some people it takes them 3-4 years to make 100 grand
- 49:22and you do that in like 4 innings.
- 49:23So nobody's going to feel bad for you.
- 49:26And he just, he keeps digging himself bigger holes.
- 49:30And I, I get like, you know, people's comments.
- 49:32Well, he's, you know, one of the best in yeah, he's the second
- 49:35highest OPS or in the 9 hundreds or whatever.
- 49:39And I get that's a part of it too.
- 49:41But there's so many guys literally that deserve it that
- 49:47aren't the name. And I think he's like trying to
- 49:49rely on his name so much and the fact that he signed this.
- 49:52Crazy deal. But I mean, PCA just literally
- 49:56was the fastest of 25 and 25 over like Hall of Farmers.
- 50:00And he did it in 93 games. The fastest to do it before was
- 50:03in 95 games. And so it's just those guys that
- 50:06are putting together full season, then doing things that
- 50:11he's not doing. And yeah, everybody's going to
- 50:13be like, well, Cunya doesn't have the amount of the bats, but
- 50:15in the time that he's done it, he's done more than Soto's done.
- 50:20And that's the fan vote too. And I think that's part of too
- 50:24why, you know, when it comes to the like, there's a lot of fans
- 50:27that don't feel sorry for you, so they're not going to vote for
- 50:30you. And that's just, that's the
- 50:31nature of the beast. So if he was smarter, anybody in
- 50:34his damn camp or whatever he wants to call it, they just need
- 50:38to tell him to shut up. Well, I don't think anybody's
- 50:40going to tell him to shut up because nobody controls Juan
- 50:43Soto but Juan Soto. And I think Juan Soto for years.
- 50:47And I'm not even speaking about when he was with the Yankees.
- 50:50How about with the Padres? How many times did?
- 50:52We was really bad. I mean, that was embarrassing,
- 50:54what he did in the dugout with Machado and Tatis.
- 50:57Remember that he. Threw their team culture under
- 51:00the bus. I mean, seriously, that outburst
- 51:02that he had over there, the guy just has outburst.
- 51:05How could you go out there and do the things that you have done
- 51:08such an early part of your career and be a star and, and
- 51:12then go out there from team to team and say, well, you know
- 51:15what? I'm I'm Juan Soto.
- 51:16You're I don't care if you're Manny Machado.
- 51:18I don't care if you're Fernando duties.
- 51:19I'm Juan Soto. I'm I'm the best player in
- 51:23baseball. I'm the best Dominican in
- 51:25baseball. Meanwhile, at that time he was
- 51:27playing with two very talented Spanish players.
- 51:31I mean Tatis, you could say he cheated.
- 51:33Whatever you want to say after that, after the fact, he's still
- 51:37playing very good baseball and Manny Machado, come on man, that
- 51:41guy snapped his leg. Remember that snapped his leg
- 51:44and came back and he's still one of the best players in the
- 51:47league. You can argue he's a top ten
- 51:49player in the league with his bat and and the defensive style
- 51:53of gaming out. Who's better at third base than
- 51:56Manny Machado? Really, How many times?
- 51:58In the outfield than Tatis, he was a shortstop and then he gets
- 52:01hurt and all of a sudden he's playing a Platinum glove
- 52:03outfield. I mean, what is Juan Soto in the
- 52:05outfield? Is he?
- 52:06Give me a break. He's butrid.
- 52:08I've seen over and over again this year with the Mets.
- 52:11Make blunters. His numbers got to be below like
- 52:14he's got to be below average. I don't I don't know the
- 52:17advanced metric on how they based upon I get, you know, run
- 52:21saved or whatever, but I think he's.
- 52:23The high 30s percentile outfielder.
- 52:26Yeah, makes sense. You can't sit here today and
- 52:30actually believe that Juan Soto actually believes he's he's
- 52:33better than Aaron Judge or believes he's better than Shay
- 52:37Otani. He's not.
- 52:38And if he does believe that whatever he's sipping or he's
- 52:41hanging out with little Wayne and smoking a Dutch, well, he
- 52:44could, he should buy him a couple, a couple of Oz and smoke
- 52:48a couple of more times because he must be on something.
- 52:52I may be drinking some dessert with him.
- 52:54I I have no idea what Juan Soto actually believes, but if he
- 52:58believes that, then he's really that crazy.
- 53:00But nevertheless, I'm sitting here today and wondering why
- 53:04Juan Soto would go up and talk to the New York press, as we
- 53:08mentioned, Mike Brown, and not have APR person right next to
- 53:12him trying to control his temper.
- 53:15He has a bad temper. And when somebody asks him a
- 53:18silly question, he answers it with a silly statement and the
- 53:22fact that nobody knows how to control him.
- 53:24Why isn't a billionaire? You know what I'm talking about?
- 53:27Mr. Uncle Stevie actually reaching out to Juan Soto.
- 53:31Now, you all know what happened at that press conference when
- 53:33the the Mets signed him and he said what he said about the
- 53:36Yankees. If I was Steve Cohen, I'm
- 53:38reaching out to Juan and saying don't do that.
- 53:40Don't bring up the Yankees. You're a Met.
- 53:42I don't want to hear any more Yankees out of your mouth.
- 53:45But that's the problem with Juan Soto.
- 53:47He doesn't hold back on what he believes and watch.
- 53:50I know he's close with Francisco Lindor.
- 53:52If anything happens in the second-half, anything happens in
- 53:56the second-half, what do you think Juan Soto's going to do?
- 53:58You think he's going to take responsibility or is he going to
- 54:01throw somebody onto the bus? And who's the leader right now
- 54:03for the New York Mets, Francisco Lindor?
- 54:06So what are you guys going to actually be surprised if you're
- 54:11hearing something go on in a dugout?
- 54:13Because he did it against Manny Machado, which him and Manny
- 54:15Machado will quote, UN quote, brothers.
- 54:18They threw Manny Machado under the bus.
- 54:20He threw Fernando Titis on the bus with their stupid handshakes
- 54:24that day. They have.
- 54:25It's ridiculous. And I'm going to be blunt with
- 54:28Juan Soto, if he doesn't know how to control his mouth, don't
- 54:31say anything. You're going to make yourself
- 54:34look like a spectator, not a leader, a spectator.
- 54:38And if you look at his as a spectator, players on your team
- 54:41are not going to want to be around you.
- 54:43They're not even going to want to hang out with you after the
- 54:45games. Quickly before we move on, to
- 54:47put it in perspective how bad the Padres thing got, Errol and
- 54:50I both picked him to go to the world.
- 54:51Series here. In 2023 and then in August, we
- 54:54had a story coming out throwing the entire brass of the Padres
- 54:57team culture, from the players to the ownership.
- 54:59On the embarrassing, absolutely embarrassing and Manny Machado,
- 55:02I got to give Manny Machado a lot of credit because Manny
- 55:05Machado could have came out and threw Juan Soto under the bus.
- 55:08But he said pretty much said stop being a bitch.
- 55:11He he said it in layman's terms. You're you're, you're a grown
- 55:15up. Act like a grown up, act like a
- 55:16leader, don't act like a bitch. And I, and I love that about and
- 55:19that's why I would love Manny Machado on the Yankees.
- 55:22I would like that's never going to happen, but I would love to
- 55:25see Manny play for the Yankees because he is he's fit to be a
- 55:28Yankee. He always wanted he grew up a
- 55:30Yankee fan and the Yankees were interested in when he when he
- 55:33was when he was available, but it just didn't happen for the
- 55:36New York Yankees. They decided to go elsewhere as
- 55:39Bryce Harper wanted to be a Yankee and they decided to go
- 55:42elsewhere as well. All right, let's go to the deuce
- 55:45of the day. The deuce of the day, you log,
- 55:49not a log. I don't have a log but.
- 55:58Oh, right, Our deuce of the day is very simple and this is going
- 56:01to be the fight of the century. As Jake Paul has come out and
- 56:06said, it's going to put women's box in all the way to the top.
- 56:11As on Friday on Netflix, the first women's main event in
- 56:17Netflix history will be Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
- 56:23And this is going to be a fight that's going to end all
- 56:26arguments as all both of them have been back and forth one
- 56:31after the other. This is their third fight.
- 56:33This is going to be exciting. This is something at Madison
- 56:36Square Garden. Madison Square Garden is
- 56:38promoting Jake Paul. The only thing I don't like
- 56:41about this fight is Jake Paul is behind me.
- 56:43Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the one and only Jake Paul is behind
- 56:47this whole conversation. He has signed practically every
- 56:50single woman boxer. He's now signing mixed martial
- 56:54artist under his MVP brand and I do respect him for that.
- 56:58What I don't respect is he's taking shots out of all these
- 57:02professional organizations from boxing, from the WBA, from the
- 57:05WBO to the UFC. And I don't think Dana White is
- 57:09a great president and well was at one point an owner.
- 57:14The problem right now lies that boxing has fallen apart when it
- 57:19comes to promotion because guys like Oscar De la Hoyer or and
- 57:23some of these big name promoters have making money from these
- 57:26fighters. Jake Paul is putting money in
- 57:29these fighters pockets. The only thing that Jake Paul is
- 57:31doing that's affecting what this fight is going to be is he's
- 57:34center stage. Nobody cares about what Katie
- 57:37Taylor has said about this fight or Amanda Serrano.
- 57:40No, they care about what Jake Paul has to say every single
- 57:44press conference they've had coming up to Friday's fight.
- 57:48That's the problem right now. Now I think these two fighters
- 57:51are sensational. The two fights that we saw,
- 57:53especially on the Tyson card, they're two fantastic, fantastic
- 57:58fighters. This is going to be a brawl all
- 58:01the way to the end. I expect blood.
- 58:03I expect championship boxing all the way through.
- 58:06Congratulations to Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
- 58:08I hope it brings in a tremendous amount of money.
- 58:11But who's it going into the pockets?
- 58:13Is it going into Jake Bald pockets or is it going into
- 58:16Katie Taylor's or Amanda Serrano?
- 58:18Only time will tell, ladies and gentlemen.
- 58:20So that, ladies and gentlemen, is my deuce of the day.
