- 0:54the greatest. You are our everything.
- 0:56Elohim, I deny El Shaddai, you are our breath.
- 1:04You're the very heartbeat within our chest.
- 1:08You are the cognition within our minds.
- 1:11God, you're the senses all around us.
- 1:14Father, You are encapsulating us with your glory.
- 1:18We thank you, Father, for life and a life worth living.
- 1:23We thank you for the Holy Scriptures.
- 1:25We thank you, Father, that you chose us and predestined us.
- 1:29God, and you elected us before the foundations of the world.
- 1:34Lord, I pray that you will help us to understand these truths.
- 1:38Lord, I pray that you will help us to walk in our bridal
- 1:42identity. Help us to be obedient unto the
- 1:46Scriptures. Help us to be obedient unto the
- 1:48revealed will. God of what Your Word tells us,
- 1:53help us not to shrink back in cowardice.
- 1:57Help us not to be those that choose this world over you.
- 2:01Help us not to be in love with Mammon or spiritual pride.
- 2:05Father, I pray that we will not be those who are trying to play
- 2:09both sides. The lukewarm Christianity of
- 2:12vomit within your mouth. Father, I pray that you will
- 2:15make us more like Jesus Christ today.
- 2:18Consecrate this temple. Father, we get rid of all idols.
- 2:22We get rid of all of the dross and the impurities.
- 2:25We get rid of all the toxic sludge.
- 2:27Father, we just want you. We want you to fill us, but we
- 2:33want a greater measure of your presence in our lives.
- 2:36God, reveal to us your glory. Reveal to us the mind of Christ.
- 2:41Reveal to us your eternal truth. God, we acknowledge you.
- 2:45We ask that you'll direct our steps, or we know that many are
- 2:50the plans of a man's heart. But you, Father, are the one who
- 2:55is leading us along paths of righteousness.
- 2:59Lord, shower us with Your grace as we are but filthy rags and
- 3:04all of our righteousness. Father, I pray that it'll be you
- 3:08that we press towards. Not vanity, not our own self
- 3:12seeking God, but only you and you alone.
- 3:14Lord, make us into the earthen vessels that you choose to use.
- 3:19Father, let your light shine through all the cracks.
- 3:23Father, I pray that you will help us, Lord, to be filled with
- 3:28the Holy Spirit, to have zeal for your house that has consumed
- 3:33us. Lord, help us to walk, Lord, in
- 3:36all of your accordance with all of your authority.
- 3:41God, everywhere that we place our feet is holy ground because
- 3:46of who we are. We are children of the Most
- 3:48High. God, Our inheritance is you.
- 3:56Jesus, we don't care about the crowns, we don't care about the
- 4:00rewards, we don't care about the heavenly abode.
- 4:04We don't care about the things of eternity.
- 4:09We only want Christ and Christ alone, and we only want to know
- 4:14Christ and Christ crucified. Show us your glory, God.
- 4:19Come and wreck us with your presence, Father.
- 4:23I decrease as you increase. It's all about King Jesus.
- 4:27He's the same yesterday, today, and forever.
- 4:29And I get out of the way and give you center stage.
- 4:33Teach us your paths. Teach us your ways.
- 4:35Give a sound doctrine and theology.
- 4:38Help us to understand every syllable, every jot and every
- 4:41title. Father, it's all about you.
- 4:43It's always been about you. It'll always be about you, for
- 4:49you are omnipotent and omniscient and omnipresent.
- 4:56You are the most high God. We love you, Father.
- 5:05It's in your holy and precious and powerful name that I pray.
- 5:09Amen. Well, let's start in verse one.
- 5:16And there came two angels to Sodom that evening, and Lot sat
- 5:20in the gate of Sodom. And Lot, seeing them, rose up to
- 5:24meet them. And he bowed himself with his
- 5:26face toward the ground. So here you can see this imagery
- 5:35of the last chapter, where Abraham was sitting in the tent
- 5:40looking out. And here we see Lot sitting at
- 5:43the gate and you see this tension between these two men, a
- 5:53spiritual believer and a worldly believer.
- 5:58And that is what you're going to need to understand as we get
- 6:00into this chapter and we start reviewing Lot in his life.
- 6:05And it's in comparison with Abraham in his life.
- 6:09And you can see from the last chapter how Abraham showed the
- 6:14hospitality because he was eager to.
- 6:17And here we're going to see Lot showing it because he is
- 6:21operating in the spirit of fear of what could happen to these
- 6:24men. And we see that Lot has made it
- 6:27to a high position within the city of Sodom.
- 6:31He's sitting in the gate, which would have been for an official
- 6:37two. And he said, behold, now, my
- 6:38Lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house and tarry
- 6:42all night and wash your feet. You shall rise up early and go
- 6:46your way. And they said, no, we'll abide
- 6:50in the street all night. So they're going down to see if
- 6:55everything that has been spoken of, the things that are crying
- 6:59out to God were true. And here Lot is trying to
- 7:05persuade them to come in underneath his roof, so that
- 7:09they would not see the wickedness of that city.
- 7:14Three. And he pressed them greatly, and
- 7:17they turned into him and entered into his house.
- 7:21And he made them a feast and did bake unleavened bread, and they
- 7:24did eat. Look at how angels are eating.
- 7:27What an amazing thought, friends.
- 7:28And look at how Lot is operating out of a spirit of fear.
- 7:32He knows that there's wickedness within the city.
- 7:35And here we saw that his face was towards Sodom and Gomorrah
- 7:40when he was living with Abraham. And he would get up in the
- 7:43morning and he would peek his head out of his tent, and he had
- 7:46pitched his tent towards the city of Sodom and Gomorrah.
- 7:50And here we see that he's living there.
- 7:52And even after Abraham had rescued him from the Confederate
- 7:56army, and here, what did he do? He went right back to his vomit.
- 8:01And we could imagine that Lot's wife was still in love with
- 8:07Sodom and Gomorrah. She wasn't ready to let go of it
- 8:10yet, for but before they laid down, the men of the city, even
- 8:17the men of Sodom, compass the house round, both old and young,
- 8:23and all the people from every quarter.
- 8:25So these men have come out of all the city and let's see what
- 8:32they're after. Five.
- 8:35And they called to Lot and said, where are the men which came
- 8:39into you this night? Bring them out to us that we may
- 8:44know them. This is homosexuality on
- 8:48display, friends. This is strange flesh that is
- 8:51happening here in Sodom. You can see that the depravity
- 8:55of humanity has culminated within this debased mind.
- 9:00This is the reprobate mind that is mentioned in Romans chapter
- 9:04one. Friends.
- 9:05This is a delusional mind, friends, where they think that
- 9:10they are going to bring these angels out so that they so that
- 9:16they can have relations with them.
- 9:19And this is this carnal animalistic impulse that is
- 9:24noxious in the nostrils of a holy God. 6 And Lot went out at
- 9:34the door to them, and he shut the door after him. 7 And he
- 9:38said, I pray you, brothers, do not so wickedly.
- 9:44He already knew that they were wicked men.
- 9:46He'd been studying them, but he didn't have enough spiritual
- 9:51aptitude to understand that he must get out of there. 8 Behold,
- 9:59now I have two daughters which have not known a man.
- 10:04Let me, I pray you bring them out and you do to them as is
- 10:09good in your eyes, only to these men do nothing, for they came
- 10:14under the shadow of my roof. So here Lot has the spiritual
- 10:18inclination to know that this isn't just men that are coming
- 10:22through. He knows that this is messengers
- 10:25of the Lord God Almighty. There must have been something
- 10:29gave them away in the same way that he bowed down to them, in
- 10:33the same way that Abraham bowed down to them.
- 10:35He knew that they were not just mortals passing through, that
- 10:38this was something way more grand and scale.
- 10:43And this is the disgusting depravity of humanity that he
- 10:47would even OfferUp his two virgin daughters so that they
- 10:51would not try and have sex with these two angels friends. 9 And
- 10:58they said, stand back. They said again, this fellow
- 11:03came in to journey here and he will needs to be a judge now
- 11:07that we will deal worse with him than with them.
- 11:11And they press soar upon the man even locked and came near to
- 11:15break the door. So they were pressing in on lot
- 11:18as if they were going to riot. They were going to pull him limb
- 11:23from limb. They were going to absolutely
- 11:28kicked down and Stampede Lot's residence. 10 but the men put
- 11:36forth their hand and they pulled Lot into the house and shut the
- 11:41door. So supernaturally reached their
- 11:45hand out, grabbed a hold of Lot, pulled them in and shut the
- 11:48door. 11 In the and they struck the men that were at the door of
- 11:54the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they
- 11:59wearied themselves to find the door.
- 12:01Here they are struck with blindness, and they're still
- 12:04trying to grope after the door. This is a clear picture of what
- 12:10sin looks like when it's unbridled, and this is the
- 12:14reason that God must destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.
- 12:18It is unhinged, friends. This is whenever sin has its
- 12:23day. This is what it looks like to
- 12:26steal, kill, and destroy. There is nothing but death and
- 12:30putrid carnage within those that are not checked with justice.
- 12:39This is what happens when there is lawlessness, friends, And
- 12:44this is what happens whenever we give ourselves over to sin.
- 12:50It culminates in this scene. And it'll never be different,
- 12:55friends. Human nature will always end at
- 12:59this place, without the intersection of grace, without
- 13:04the intersection of God's love and mercy and A and a
- 13:09regenerated mind and a regenerated man, Friends. 12 And
- 13:20the men said to Lot, have you hear any besides son-in-law,
- 13:26Your sons, your daughters, whatsoever you have in the city,
- 13:30bring them out of this place. They're saying, Go and get all
- 13:33your loved ones, and you must get out of here. 13 For we will
- 13:38destroy this place, because the cry of them has grown great
- 13:43before the face of the Lord, and the Lord has sent us to destroy
- 13:47it. So here you see this purging of
- 13:51evil from the land. 14 And Lot went out, and he spoke to his
- 13:59sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Get you out
- 14:04of this place, for the Lord will destroy the city.
- 14:06But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
- 14:10So here you can see that Lot has these sons in law who make a
- 14:18mockery of his invitation. So perhaps they were betrothed
- 14:26but not yet married. Perhaps these were from other
- 14:30daughters not mentioned as the two virgins.
- 14:34But we know that the sons in law thought it was all a joke. 15
- 14:42And when the morning arose, the angels hastened Lot, saying,
- 14:46Arise, take your wife, your two daughters, which are here,
- 14:49unless they be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
- 14:52So they saw that this was the only hope, was just this, for
- 14:57this was all that Lot had in the city that were halfway following
- 15:02after Yahweh. 16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon
- 15:09his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of
- 15:12his two daughters. And the Lord, being merciful
- 15:15unto him, brought him forth and set him outside the city.
- 15:20We learned from the book of Hebrews that Lot was a righteous
- 15:24man, and that he hated all the things that he saw in that city.
- 15:29But we know that Jesus said, Remember Lot's wife, how she had
- 15:34turned and was turned into a pillar of salt?
- 15:38And you can see here that it was God's mercy upon Lot that he
- 15:44grabbed him by his hand because he was tearing too long.
- 15:48It was as if he still wanted to stay there. 17 And it came to
- 15:55pass when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said,
- 15:59escape for your life. Look not behind you, neither
- 16:03stay you in all the plane. Escape to the mountain unless
- 16:07you be consumed. There's that little piece in
- 16:10there that you might miss, but you need to highlight it and
- 16:15hyper fixate upon it. It says, look not behind you.
- 16:23This was a a picture of them yearning and wanting to go back
- 16:30into the iniquity. There was an addiction that they
- 16:34had found of living there that they were not yet ready to give
- 16:38up. Friends.
- 16:40And it's no different in our lives, friends.
- 16:43We can be addicted to sin. You think that it's going to get
- 16:47you somewhere, but in the end it's going to sting like a
- 16:50Viper. 18 And Lot said to them, Oh, not so, my Lord. 19 Behold,
- 16:58now your servant has found grace in your sight, and you have
- 17:02magnified your mercy, which you have showed to me in saving my
- 17:06life. And I cannot escape to the
- 17:08mountain unless some evil take me and I die.
- 17:11So Lot was a city man. He enjoyed the city life.
- 17:17He did not think that he had what it took to live out in the
- 17:21wilderness. 20 Behold, now this city is near to flee to, and it
- 17:28is a little. 10 Let me escape there.
- 17:31Is it not a little one that my soul shall live?
- 17:35So he thought that he needed the constructs of the city in order
- 17:39to survive. He was a great indoorsman, 21
- 17:46And he said to him, See, I have accepted you concerning this
- 17:50thing also, that I will not overthrow the city, for the
- 17:53which that you have spoken. So the Angel says, go with your
- 17:57plan, sure, and I'll wait till you're there until I destroy the
- 18:02city. 22 haste you escape there, for I cannot do anything until
- 18:09you have come to that place. Therefore the name of the city
- 18:13was called Zoar. So here you could see that this
- 18:20is the little city, this Zoar. 23 The sun was risen upon the
- 18:26earth when Lot entered into Zoar.
- 18:29So you see that it had been a long night, and he'd been up all
- 18:34the way through the night, and it is as if he escaped out of a
- 18:38fire. This is a clear picture of
- 18:41someone who makes it into heaven, but they bring nothing
- 18:44with them. It's like the thief on the
- 18:47cross. They're there in paradise, but
- 18:49it is as if they had escaped out of a fire. 24 And the Lord
- 18:57rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord
- 19:01out of heaven. And this is how it will be at
- 19:05the end of the millennial reign, friends, that God will rain down
- 19:09fire and brimstone upon all the enemies that Satan who has re
- 19:14released amasses, and God will destroy it in the same manner.
- 19:22And you can't even find where Sodom and Gomorrah was.
- 19:24And it's not because this is a hoax or this is some kind of
- 19:29misprint in the Bible. This is accurate and true and
- 19:32trustworthy. But it was a complete and total
- 19:36devastating act from God that buried all traces. 25 And he
- 19:44overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the
- 19:47inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground,
- 19:53So all life is completely annihilated. 26 But his wife
- 19:59looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
- 20:03Takes faith to believe these things.
- 20:05Friends, here's Lot's wife. And she turns around and looks
- 20:10back, and she lusts after and pants after the life that she
- 20:16once had in Sodom and Gomorrah. 27 And Abraham got up early in
- 20:22the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord. 28 And
- 20:26he looked towards Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the
- 20:29land of the plain, and beheld, lo, the smoke of the country
- 20:34went up as the smoke of a furnace.
- 20:37This validated that his plea to God to not destroy it for the
- 20:43sake of 10 people. It validated the fact that there
- 20:46was not even 10 righteous people within that city. 29 And it came
- 20:52to pass when God destroyed the cities at the plain, that God
- 20:56remembered Abraham and sent Lot out of the midst of the
- 20:59overthrow. When he overthrew the cities and
- 21:02the witch Lot dwell. So here, because of Abrahams
- 21:07intercessory prayer, God spared Lot.
- 21:10What an amazing thought that our prayers actually matter.
- 21:14And we take our prayers into the throne room of God, and we wave
- 21:18the promises of God, and we say, God, we stand upon these
- 21:23promises. And you said that you would do
- 21:25these things, and God, we are holding you to your word, and
- 21:29you cannot lie. 30 And Lot went up out of Zoar and dwelt in the
- 21:36mountain, and his two daughters with him, for he feared to dwell
- 21:40in Zoar, and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
- 21:44Perhaps this is Lot's final step in backsliding.
- 21:48He was a fearful man in Zoar, this little city.
- 21:53Perhaps he thought that he was going to be overtaken by the
- 21:56evil there because of his two daughters.
- 22:00We can only surmise. 31 In the first born said to the younger,
- 22:05Our father is old. There's not a man in the earth
- 22:09come in unto us after the manner of all the earth.
- 22:12So here we're going to see this incest creep up.
- 22:16We see the sins of the father visited upon the children. 32
- 22:21Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we'll lie with
- 22:25him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
- 22:28So here they conjure up this disgusting plan in order to have
- 22:33relations with their father. 33 And they made their father drink
- 22:39wine that night. And the first born went in and
- 22:41lay with her father, and he did not perceive when she laid down
- 22:46or whenever she arose. He was drunk off the wine and he
- 22:50was incapacitated with his functions, and he was not even
- 22:58aware. He was so incredibly drunk that
- 23:01he was not even aware when she laid down or when she got up. 34
- 23:09And it came to pass on the Morrow that the first born said
- 23:12unto the younger, Behold, I laid last night with my father.
- 23:17Let us make him drink wine this night also, and then you'll go
- 23:21in and lie with him that we may preserve seed of our Father.
- 23:26This was a deplorable approach. They were living in fear.
- 23:31They were moving within their own mind.
- 23:34And this is what happens when we stop trusting God and we start
- 23:38trying to manufacture our own destiny.
- 23:41It always results in sin. It always results in
- 23:47disobedience. We must operate in faith.
- 23:51Faith is the currency that God operates in. 35 And they made
- 23:58their father drink wine that night also.
- 24:01And the younger arose and laid with him, and he did not
- 24:04perceive when she laid down, nor when she arose.
- 24:09So here we see his two daughters that were virgins and they are
- 24:14now having relations, this incestual disgusting relations
- 24:22with their father, because they were moving in a spirit of fear
- 24:27that they would be cut off from the land and that they would not
- 24:31have any ancestors. 36 Thus were both the daughters of lot with
- 24:39child by the father. 37 And the first born bore a son, and he
- 24:45and called his name Moab. This is the same father of the
- 24:49Moabites to this day. So we see that God made good on
- 24:56a very terrible situation. We know from Ruth, we know that
- 25:04the genealogy of Christ has a Moabite in it.
- 25:09And you see that God can take your misery and turn it into a
- 25:13ministry. He can take all of the terrible
- 25:17things, and he can turn them around and use them for good.
- 25:21With the enemy meant for evil, God can use for his glory.
- 25:28We'll end on 38. And the younger, she also bore a
- 25:31son and called his name Binami, the same as the father of the
- 25:36children of Almond. To this day we know that the
- 25:40Moabites and the Ammonites, we know that they were hostile
- 25:43towards their relative O Israel. As the scriptures go on, we can
- 25:50see that Lot should have been left behind all the way back in
- 25:54ur, the Chaldees when God had called Abraham.
- 25:58But he's going to use it, and he has a plan for it.
- 26:00What an amazing God we serve. This is a book that man couldn't
- 26:06write if he wanted to, and he wouldn't write it if he could
- 26:09think about it. I hope you've been blessed by
- 26:13this amazing chapter in God's Word.
- 26:16I know I sure have. I'm praying for every single one
- 26:19of you. I love you.
- 26:21We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 26:23God bless you.
