- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Both JP Morgan and Jess Daly are trying to learn
- 0:09Speaker 1: the identity of the Jane Doe that is suing both entities. Now,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Judge Rakoff hasn't made a decision one way or the
- 0:18Speaker 1: other about revealing this identity yet, but that decision is
- 0:22Speaker 1: expected to come in the very near future. Now, under
- 0:26Speaker 1: normal circumstances... I'd be on board with whoever the accuser
- 0:30Speaker 1: is having their identity revealed considering they're making these accusations.
- 0:36Speaker 1: But when we're talking about people in the Jeffrey Epstein world,
- 0:39Speaker 1: people who have been absolutely traumatized by the abuse, it's
- 0:44Speaker 1: a different story. And we have seen time and time
- 0:47Speaker 1: again people that were involved with Epstein try and use
- 0:50Speaker 1: this kind of tactic simply to out somebody to try
- 0:54Speaker 1: and destroy their credibility. And that certainly seems to be
- 0:57Speaker 1: the tactic here that JP Morgan and Jess Daly both
- 1:01Speaker 1: are looking to use. So we have two articles this morning,
- 1:05Speaker 1: one from Fortune and the other one from ABC News
- 1:09Speaker 1: dealing with Jamie Dimon. All right. So the first article
- 1:13Speaker 1: is from Fortune and the headline. Both JP Morgan and
- 1:17Speaker 1: a disgraced executive are asking a court to reveal a
- 1:20Speaker 1: Jane Doe victim of Jeffrey Epstein, but for different reasons.
- 1:24Speaker 1: This article was authored by Ava Benny Morrison and Bloomberg.
- 1:30Speaker 1: JPMorgan Chase and Company, which is facing a lawsuit by
- 1:33Speaker 1: a Jane Doe victim of Jeffrey Epstein, is trying to
- 1:37Speaker 1: learn the identity of another Jane Doe, making similar claims
- 1:42Speaker 1: against Deutsche Bank. The U.S. Bank said on Friday in
- 1:45Speaker 1: a letter filed in Manhattan federal court that it needed
- 1:49Speaker 1: to know the Deutsche Bank Jane Doe's identity because she
- 1:52Speaker 1: may have knowledge of the inner workings of Jeffrey Epstein's
- 1:56Speaker 1: sex trafficking operation and his relationship with associates like former
- 2:00Speaker 1: JP Morgan executive Jess Daly. That doesn't pass the sniff
- 2:04Speaker 1: test for me. Sorry, we're not talking about your run-of-the-mill
- 2:08Speaker 1: allegation here. We're talking about allegations against Jeffrey Epstein. And
- 2:13Speaker 1: of course, people are going to be hesitant to have
- 2:15Speaker 1: their identity revealed because of the extreme blowback that could
- 2:19Speaker 1: be coming their way. Staley also asked for the identity
- 2:23Speaker 1: of the Deutsche Bank Jane Doe, saying he needed it
- 2:26Speaker 1: to avoid being subject to ambush by JP Morgan, which
- 2:30Speaker 1: is suing him to cover its potential liability for having
- 2:34Speaker 1: Epstein as a client between 1998 and 2013. You want
- 2:39Speaker 1: to talk about a gigantic game of not it? That's
- 2:42Speaker 1: what Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan are engaging in right now.
- 2:46Speaker 1: It's everybody else's fault. It's not our institution's fault. It's
- 2:50Speaker 1: not our boss's fault. It's Jeff Staley's fault. It's the
- 2:54Speaker 1: world at large's fault. Anybody but us. That's the strategy
- 2:58Speaker 1: that is always employed by the financial sector. In a
- 3:02Speaker 1: Monday court filing, a lawyer representing both victims opposed revealing
- 3:06Speaker 1: the Deutsche Bank Jane Doe's identity. Brad Edwards said she
- 3:11Speaker 1: only had limited information relevant to JPMorgan and Staley that
- 3:15Speaker 1: did not outweigh her privacy interests. Jane Doe, too, has
- 3:20Speaker 1: clear privacy interests in not disclosing to them her name
- 3:24Speaker 1: as an Epstein sex abuse survivor, Edwards wrote. U.S. District
- 3:29Speaker 1: Judge Jed Rakoff, who is presiding over both cases, hasn't
- 3:33Speaker 1: ruled on the issue. Separately on Monday, the judge granted
- 3:36Speaker 1: a request by Deutsche Bank for communications between the Jane
- 3:40Speaker 1: Doe suing it and the one suing J.P. Morgan, given
- 3:44Speaker 1: their lawyer one week to comply. So look, Judge Rakoff
- 3:49Speaker 1: seems to be leaning towards revealing the identity here in
- 3:53Speaker 1: this lawsuit. And I think that's a terrible idea, at
- 3:56Speaker 1: least not yet. Wait until the lawsuit moves a little
- 3:58Speaker 1: bit further, maybe discovery, something like that. But revealing it
- 4:02Speaker 1: now at this early stage, what you're going to do
- 4:06Speaker 1: is set it up so that whoever the accuser is,
- 4:09Speaker 1: if they do reveal their identity, so they can be
- 4:12Speaker 1: pressed now. Oh, what, you don't think Jamie Dimon and
- 4:15Speaker 1: the rest of these scoundrels don't have real-life Ray Donovans
- 4:18Speaker 1: in their employ? Because they do. Epstein moved most of
- 4:22Speaker 1: his accounts to Deutsche Bank after J.P. Morgan cut ties
- 4:26Speaker 1: with him in 2013. The German bank also dropped Epstein
- 4:30Speaker 1: as a client in 2018. The lawsuits against both banks
- 4:34Speaker 1: accused them of knowingly benefiting from Epstein's sex trafficking. J.P.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Morgan and Deutsche Bank have denied knowledge of Epstein's crimes.
- 4:44Speaker 1: The J.P. Morgan litigation has attracted more attention than the
- 4:48Speaker 1: suit against Deutsche Bank, in part because the allegations concerning
- 4:52Speaker 1: the depths of Staley's relationship with Epstein. The plaintiff suing J.P.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Morgan's claim, Staley had knowledge of Epstein's crimes that can
- 5:02Speaker 1: be imputed to the bank. Staley, who went on to
- 5:05Speaker 1: become the chief executive officer at Barclays PLC before stepping
- 5:10Speaker 1: down in 2021, over his Epstein ties, has called the
- 5:14Speaker 1: allegations baseless and slanderous in a court filing. Oh yeah,
- 5:18Speaker 1: very baseless. Jeff Staley, 1,200 emails, Snow White, Beauty and
- 5:23Speaker 1: the Beast. Baseless though, is it? In its letter, filed
- 5:28Speaker 1: last Friday, JP Morgan pledged that it would not release
- 5:31Speaker 1: the Deutsche Bank plaintiff's identity, but said she had relevant
- 5:35Speaker 1: information about Staley. The U.S. Bank has also said It
- 5:40Speaker 1: believed she was a percipient witness to its own Jane
- 5:44Speaker 1: Doe's experiences. JP Morgan also said Deutsche Bank had already
- 5:49Speaker 1: been given the identity of both Jane Doe's. Staley's attorney,
- 5:54Speaker 1: Brendan Sullivan, and his client needed to learn the Deutsche
- 5:57Speaker 1: Bank Jane Doe's identity in order to test the veracity
- 6:01Speaker 1: of her potential testimony in JP Morgan's action against them.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Lawyers for Deutsche Bank have previously argued the lawsuit against
- 6:10Speaker 1: it should be dismissed because the plaintiff previously signed a
- 6:14Speaker 1: settlement agreement that protected entities tied to Epstein from being
- 6:18Speaker 1: sued thereafter. Her lawyers claim that protection did not extend
- 6:23Speaker 1: to financial institutions. So once again, the non-prosecution agreement rearing
- 6:28Speaker 1: its ugly ass head and these scumbags trying to use
- 6:31Speaker 1: it as some sort of defense for themselves. Thankfully, It
- 6:35Speaker 1: hasn't worked out so well in the past, and I
- 6:38Speaker 1: don't think it's going to work in the future. But
- 6:40Speaker 1: we'll have to see what happens here and what ruling
- 6:43Speaker 1: Judge Rakoff makes, because obviously that's going to be crucial
- 6:47Speaker 1: to what happens next. All right, on to our next article.
- 6:50Speaker 1: And this article is from ABC News. Headline, JPMorgan Chase
- 6:55Speaker 1: CEO Jamie Dimon to be deposed in an Epstein suit.
- 7:00Speaker 1: And we've talked about this before, but we're getting a
- 7:02Speaker 1: little more detail here. some more facts, and some more
- 7:06Speaker 1: information about when this deposition is supposed to go down.
- 7:11Speaker 1: This article was authored by Larry Neumeister. JPMorgan Chase & Company,
- 7:17Speaker 1: Jamie Dimon, must undergo up to two days of questioning
- 7:20Speaker 1: by lawyers handling lawsuits over whether the bank can be
- 7:24Speaker 1: held liable in pedophile Jeffrey Epstein's sexual abuse of teenage
- 7:29Speaker 1: girls and women, a federal judge said Tuesday. During a
- 7:34Speaker 1: telephone conference with lawyers, Judge Jed Rakoff in Manhattan ordered
- 7:38Speaker 1: Jamie Dimon to set aside two days for deposition testimony,
- 7:42Speaker 1: though he didn't specify when. He said one day of
- 7:46Speaker 1: testimony might be sufficient, and lawyers would have to get
- 7:49Speaker 1: his approval to continue to a second day. So he
- 7:52Speaker 1: has it slated for two days, but according to Judge Rakoff,
- 7:57Speaker 1: it should be over in one, but there is some
- 7:59Speaker 1: wiggle room to make it two days if that's necessary.
- 8:03Speaker 1: The New York Bank, the nation's largest, has been sued
- 8:06Speaker 1: by the government of the U.S. Virgin Islands and two women,
- 8:09Speaker 1: both identified as Jane Doe, who say they were abused
- 8:12Speaker 1: by Epstein. The lawsuits contend JP Morgan should have seen
- 8:17Speaker 1: evidence of Epstein's sex trafficking and avoided profiting from it.
- 8:21Speaker 1: The bank, besides denying the allegations, has sued one of
- 8:25Speaker 1: its former executives, saying the man hid Epstein's decades of
- 8:28Speaker 1: sex abuse and trafficking to keep Epstein as a client.
- 8:33Speaker 1: And we all know at this point that it wasn't
- 8:35Speaker 1: just Jess Daly. Just like it wasn't just Alex Acosta
- 8:39Speaker 1: making those decisions. Same goes here. Jess Daly didn't make
- 8:43Speaker 1: this decision and just sign off on it and nobody
- 8:46Speaker 1: knew about it. Of course, Jamie Dimon knew. Now, did
- 8:49Speaker 1: he know all of the details, the inner workings and
- 8:52Speaker 1: all of that? I don't know. But that's what this
- 8:55Speaker 1: deposition is going to do. It's going to provide us
- 8:58Speaker 1: a little bit more insight into what Jamie Dimon might
- 9:01Speaker 1: have known or not known. Darren Oduyo, a JP Morgan spokesperson,
- 9:07Speaker 1: said lawyers for the lawsuit against JP Morgan know our
- 9:10Speaker 1: CEO has no relevant knowledge but persists with this media
- 9:15Speaker 1: stunt designed for headlines and clicks. So ridiculous. It has
- 9:19Speaker 1: nothing to do with that. It has to do with
- 9:21Speaker 1: the fact that Jamie Dimon was the boss of JP
- 9:25Speaker 1: Morgan when all of this was happening. So he's responsible,
- 9:29Speaker 1: at least in that capacity as the boss of the
- 9:32Speaker 1: whole operation, that this happened on your watch. So what
- 9:36Speaker 1: are you talking about? Has no relevant information. We don't
- 9:39Speaker 1: know that until we see a deposition. He said a
- 9:43Speaker 1: review of more than two decades of emails and other
- 9:45Speaker 1: documents made it clear that Diamond had no involvement with
- 9:49Speaker 1: Epstein or his accounts. He does not recall ever meeting, speaking,
- 9:53Speaker 1: or communicating with him. Aduye said... Epstein was 66 when
- 9:58Speaker 1: he killed himself, allegedly. in a federal jail cell in
- 10:01Speaker 1: August of 2019 as he awaited trial on sex trafficking charges.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Federal prosecutors had accused him of paying underage girls hundreds
- 10:10Speaker 1: of dollars for massages at his homes in Florida and
- 10:13Speaker 1: New York, where he then molested them. Lawyers for JPMorgan said,
- 10:18Speaker 1: did not immediately return messages seeking comment. So there's a
- 10:23Speaker 1: quick update on what's going down with Jess Daly, JP Morgan,
- 10:28Speaker 1: and the lawsuit in the Virgin Islands. And obviously this
- 10:32Speaker 1: thing is evolving quickly, and as it continues to change
- 10:37Speaker 1: and it continues to grow, we'll continue to add these
- 10:40Speaker 1: episodes to the catalog and follow along with what's happening.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Because even if this doesn't provide us with the long
- 10:47Speaker 1: jail terms we all hope that these people will get,
- 10:51Speaker 1: it will give us a little look behind the curtain
- 10:54Speaker 1: at what's going on with the financial institutions and certainly
- 10:57Speaker 1: with their relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. All right, folks, that's
- 11:02Speaker 1: going to do it for this one. All of the
- 11:04Speaker 1: information that goes with the episode can be found in
- 11:07Speaker 1: the description box.
