- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio. We are inside of two weeks now, thirteen
- 0:21Speaker 1: days away from night number one of the NFL Draft.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Welcome to a Friday edition. It's almost the weekend of
- 0:28Speaker 1: NFL Now one NFL Network from our news room by
- 0:31Speaker 1: Los Angeles. My name is Andrew Ceciliano. We're presented today
- 0:33Speaker 1: by IKEA. Coming up one of the better offensive linemen
- 0:37Speaker 1: in that draft. A guy you need to know from TCU,
- 0:39Speaker 1: Steve of Vila, is going to be here. We open
- 0:42Speaker 1: up this hour, however, with the latest as we know,
- 0:45Speaker 1: it's on the potential sale of the Washington Commander's NFL
- 0:50Speaker 1: networking sider Ian Rappa, work with us. Happy Friday to U. Ian.
- 0:53Speaker 1: We had the news yesterday that it looks as if
- 0:55Speaker 1: we are close, and I stressed close. Nothing done yet
- 0:58Speaker 1: on the sale finally from Daniel Snyder potentially here to
- 1:03Speaker 1: Josh Harris, who owns the Philadelphia seventy six Versus group
- 1:07Speaker 1: as well the New Jersey Devils among other teams there.
- 1:10Speaker 1: It's north of six million. How close or six billion?
- 1:13Speaker 1: Bigger part? How close are we truly? Six point o
- 1:19Speaker 1: five billion? A little bit of a hike up in
- 1:21Speaker 1: the price to get this done yesterday afternoon. And my
- 1:24Speaker 1: understanding is there is an agreement in principle for Josh Harris,
- 1:28Speaker 1: the Devils and seventy six Ers owner and his group
- 1:31Speaker 1: which also includes Magic Johnson by the way, to purchase
- 1:34Speaker 1: the Commanders finally, finally from owner Dan Snyder, no doubt,
- 1:38Speaker 1: something the fans have been waiting for for some time,
- 1:41Speaker 1: given all the struggles on the field, more and more
- 1:44Speaker 1: serious struggles off the field for Dan Snyder. Josh Harris
- 1:47Speaker 1: expected to come in when this deal is finalized. There
- 1:50Speaker 1: is a caveat, though, and that's why I believe you're
- 1:53Speaker 1: asking how close is it? Though there is an agreement
- 1:56Speaker 1: in principle, it is not signed and it is not exclusive.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Presumably someone could come in with six point one billion
- 2:02Speaker 1: dollars and they would start all over again. I would
- 2:05Speaker 1: highly doubt that would be the case, though, because if
- 2:08Speaker 1: you're someone who might offer more, you might have offered
- 2:10Speaker 1: more already, This would already be done, you would already
- 2:14Speaker 1: be the new owner. So it looks like it is
- 2:16Speaker 1: going to be Josh Harris. The plan now is to
- 2:20Speaker 1: essentially to finalize this and to turn it into the
- 2:23Speaker 1: league and say this is the new owner, approve it
- 2:25Speaker 1: at the May meetings, and then they are often running
- 2:28Speaker 1: and Dan Snodder will officially be out and Josh Harrison's
- 2:31Speaker 1: group officially be in. But we are not there yet.
- 2:34Speaker 1: So I would say this is more of a developing
- 2:36Speaker 1: story than a breaking story as of now. But you
- 2:40Speaker 1: kind of took my next question not exclusive. It's like, hey,
- 2:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna buy this house, all right, We've got a deal,
- 2:46Speaker 1: but not exclusive. Means if I'm selling the house, I could,
- 2:50Speaker 1: you know, still keep it up on Redfinn And if
- 2:53Speaker 1: somebody you know wants to click and say can I
- 2:56Speaker 1: come see it? I could, right. I mean, yeah, I'm
- 2:59Speaker 1: more of a Zillo guy myself, but sure, I think
- 3:01Speaker 1: that that is kind of what's going on here. But
- 3:04Speaker 1: if this has been on the market, we've known for
- 3:06Speaker 1: several months. If someone was going to commit with a
- 3:08Speaker 1: bigger bid, you would think they would have done it already.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Maybe this is Dan Standerson, you know what. Just gonna
- 3:13Speaker 1: keep myself open. But one thing I would want to mention,
- 3:15Speaker 1: By the way, so Josh Harris also owns two other teams.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I don't get the sense at all that he plans
- 3:20Speaker 1: to sell any of them, so it does seem Mike
- 3:23Speaker 1: he will move forward owning the Devil Sixers, and when
- 3:26Speaker 1: it is finalized, the Commanders and the new stadium would
- 3:30Speaker 1: be the first list of priorities for the new owners, right,
- 3:34Speaker 1: and they've been trying to do that for a while. Currently,
- 3:36Speaker 1: the stadium is in Maryland, east of DC and PG County.
- 3:39Speaker 1: They've obviously talked for years about potentially returning to the
- 3:42Speaker 1: site of RFK, and the district also looked potentially, you know,
- 3:46Speaker 1: the other side of town in Virginia that would seemingly
- 3:48Speaker 1: be third on the list here potentially, but the new
- 3:51Speaker 1: stadium becomes priority number one if and when this finally
- 3:53Speaker 1: does go through. All right, to the football side of things,
- 3:56Speaker 1: we haven't seen Gerald McCoy on a field for a while.
- 3:58Speaker 1: One of my favorite people here and McCoy made it
- 4:01Speaker 1: official today, Ian, the former third overall pick in the draft,
- 4:04Speaker 1: is calling it quits. Yeah. An incredible career, multi time
- 4:09Speaker 1: pro bowler, and you know, as dominant as he was
- 4:12Speaker 1: on the field, especially during his prime, probably just as
- 4:15Speaker 1: well known off the field. Affable guy, great guy face
- 4:18Speaker 1: of the Bucks franchise for years and years and years,
- 4:21Speaker 1: and you know, I would say someone where if you're
- 4:24Speaker 1: another player, a younger player, and you want to be like,
- 4:26Speaker 1: how do you just build your profile off the field?
- 4:29Speaker 1: Just be like Jerald McCoy. He is officially retiring today.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I got a funny feeling we may not have seen
- 4:36Speaker 1: the last of Jerald McCoy. He does have an interest
- 4:38Speaker 1: in broadcasting, as we've seen on the network. He is
- 4:41Speaker 1: very good at it. So though it's a goodbye officially
- 4:44Speaker 1: to Jerald McCoy on the field, I think off the
- 4:47Speaker 1: field it's probably more of a hello than anything else. Yeah,
- 4:49Speaker 1: he was here for broadcast boot camp last season or
- 4:53Speaker 1: last offseason at NFL Networking, Gerald McCoy was awesome. If
- 4:56Speaker 1: he wants a new career on this side of the business,
- 4:59Speaker 1: he will do just fine. We'll talk budget free a
- 5:01Speaker 1: little bit later. Thank you and rapping for our NFL
- 5:03Speaker 1: Networking cider. Bodo Beckham Junior is heading to Baltimore on
- 5:09Speaker 1: a one year deal. Look, we've got to win a champion, shill.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Hey going to check the replay for the clip. Put
- 5:19Speaker 1: them from my city for my stay some training. We
- 5:22Speaker 1: go and look back on the track and get that
- 5:24Speaker 1: baby pitch of the greatest catch I've ever seen in
- 5:27Speaker 1: my life. Wow, catch back Beckham with a right hand particular.
- 5:33Speaker 1: That is absolutely impossible. Whether you just know we got
- 5:36Speaker 1: a long road to the goat and we still committed
- 5:39Speaker 1: to stay grounding on our Joz yes ten down. No,
- 5:42Speaker 1: you was a hero. You ain't been down in Now
- 5:44Speaker 1: we're do the upness while you're looking for the friends
- 5:47Speaker 1: get Speaking of players we haven't seen on the field
- 5:51Speaker 1: in a long time, not Gerald mccoybo Odo, Beckham Junior,
- 5:54Speaker 1: who is gonna wear number three? Sorry? James Crochet in
- 5:57Speaker 1: Baltimore smiled for the Cambridge yesterday up there with Carball
- 6:00Speaker 1: and the Costa. Obviously, all anyone who wanted to talk
- 6:04Speaker 1: about was Lamar Jackson. I didn't get any assurances for anything.
- 6:08Speaker 1: You know, life's uncertain. I think that you know, we
- 6:13Speaker 1: don't We don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow the next day.
- 6:16Speaker 1: You know, we only know what's happened in the past.
- 6:18Speaker 1: So to me, it just was excited about the possibility
- 6:22Speaker 1: of that. You know, my thoughts would be that he
- 6:24Speaker 1: would be here. We're hopeful still that we'll get a
- 6:27Speaker 1: long term deal done. He's the right player for this
- 6:30Speaker 1: team to lead us to where we want to be.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I think the locker room knows that, the organization knows that.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I think the fan base knows that. So it's ongoing.
- 6:39Speaker 1: But I can't think of a situation where we wouldn't
- 6:42Speaker 1: think that our best team is with Lamar Jackson on
- 6:45Speaker 1: the team in September. It's ongoing, meaning Hi, Sherry Burrs,
- 6:49Speaker 1: who was there yesterday, Mark Ross, we still do not
- 6:52Speaker 1: yet have a deal for Lamar Jackson. Sure, it's interesting.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I think a lot of people say, oh, well, Odell
- 6:58Speaker 1: wouldn't be there if he didn't know Lamar was going
- 7:00Speaker 1: to be there. Maybe, but you know, fifteen million dollars. Also,
- 7:05Speaker 1: it's a big motivation. Yeah, I mean that speaks volumes Andrew.
- 7:09Speaker 1: But like Odell was saying there, he too is uncertain
- 7:13Speaker 1: if Lamar is going to be the quarterback in Baltimore
- 7:16Speaker 1: this next season. He's optimistic, he's hopeful. He's catching balls
- 7:20Speaker 1: from number eight. Even at one point there was a
- 7:22Speaker 1: funny moment in the press conference. Odell looked that back
- 7:25Speaker 1: row of cameras in the auditorium was like, hey, Lamar,
- 7:28Speaker 1: if you're watching, hi, he's playing the waiting game. Like us,
- 7:32Speaker 1: but we do know the two have a closed connection.
- 7:35Speaker 1: We saw them on social media, face timing, even possibly
- 7:38Speaker 1: them going out afterwards. But there was a key point
- 7:41Speaker 1: coming from general manager Erica Costa. He said he has
- 7:44Speaker 1: not spoken to Lamar since the signing of OBJ earlier
- 7:48Speaker 1: this week. Yeah, that's the interesting thing about not speaking.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I think with Odell was two differentsiduations. Yes, he would
- 7:58Speaker 1: love to go play with Lamar, but when they showed
- 8:00Speaker 1: him that bag, he said, yeah, I'm gonna come there
- 8:02Speaker 1: and get that from the Ravens and just the Lamar situation.
- 8:05Speaker 1: As far as the organization going into the draft, if
- 8:08Speaker 1: they're not speaking, usually with an agent, we keep going
- 8:12Speaker 1: back to this. I keep going back to why it's
- 8:14Speaker 1: important to have an agent, Eric Decasa and the agent
- 8:16Speaker 1: would be in constant communications talking about what's going on
- 8:20Speaker 1: with Lamar and the contract. Now they're not speaking. What
- 8:23Speaker 1: did the Ravens do now with their draft plans? Do
- 8:26Speaker 1: they take a quarterback? Are they looking at other avenues?
- 8:29Speaker 1: Only they really know how far along how close this
- 8:31Speaker 1: situation with Lamar is and if it's going to get done,
- 8:35Speaker 1: and if it's not going to then okay, do we
- 8:37Speaker 1: draft for the future. Do we try to help this
- 8:39Speaker 1: position out. They know they've got the pro bowler Tyler
- 8:42Speaker 1: Huntley there, but he's not the answer. As we saw
- 8:45Speaker 1: last year. When Lamar plays, he produces the Ravens win.
- 8:48Speaker 1: When he doesn't, they lose. So it's interesting to see
- 8:52Speaker 1: how they'll approach this draft. Andrew, it's it's it's never ending.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I'm a Tyler Huntley fan. I also always smile, Mark
- 8:59Speaker 1: when you throw in pro bowler. Tyler Huntley was participants
- 9:06Speaker 1: the Pro Bowl games in Vegas. Who doesn't like a
- 9:09Speaker 1: fun week in Vegas? Although two days for me is
- 9:12Speaker 1: more than enough. All right, let's get back to Odell
- 9:15Speaker 1: and Lamar. Just because Odell is there doesn't mean Lamar
- 9:18Speaker 1: is going to change his demands. That's the way I
- 9:20Speaker 1: look at it. But hopefully maybe this will give him
- 9:21Speaker 1: a little motivation to get the job done. But if
- 9:24Speaker 1: not for Lamar, what were Odell's motivations here? Sherry to
- 9:30Speaker 1: pick Baltimore well? Based off of his introductory press conference,
- 9:34Speaker 1: O'Dell saying what really stuck out about Baltimore was that
- 9:37Speaker 1: they really made him feel wanted and he now believed
- 9:41Speaker 1: that they really believe in him, which is going to
- 9:43Speaker 1: help him be motivated to want to go out there
- 9:45Speaker 1: and perform for that who wouldn't want to be somewhere
- 9:48Speaker 1: where they're absolutely wanted, And it was a longer courtship,
- 9:51Speaker 1: Odell said. The first conversations with Ravens owner Stiva Shotti
- 9:55Speaker 1: started last October. Even had a couple of conversations with
- 9:59Speaker 1: John Harbaugh. They're along the way to get to this point.
- 10:03Speaker 1: But ultimately Obj saying at this point in his career,
- 10:07Speaker 1: what he needs to come into a place where he's
- 10:09Speaker 1: believed in and he's able to put then his best
- 10:12Speaker 1: foot forward, and also he wants to learn while he's there.
- 10:15Speaker 1: He's like, Yeah, I'm kind of a vet in the
- 10:17Speaker 1: game and I want to be a mentor for this
- 10:19Speaker 1: young wide receiver room. But he said he's still very
- 10:22Speaker 1: open to still learning whenever he gets back on the field.
- 10:26Speaker 1: We still don't have a timeline yet of when that
- 10:27Speaker 1: will happen. You were one hundred percent right with Odell
- 10:31Speaker 1: in the way he feels being part of the draft
- 10:32Speaker 1: process with the Giants. With Odell very very close with
- 10:36Speaker 1: his family, with his mother and the tight knit group
- 10:38Speaker 1: of friends, and that's how he thrives when he feels
- 10:41Speaker 1: comfortable with that. So definitely when he got around and
- 10:44Speaker 1: saw that family environment with the Ravens was very, very
- 10:48Speaker 1: appealing to him, I'm sure because he does like that
- 10:51Speaker 1: close knit community and family around him. I'm sure he
- 10:54Speaker 1: felt that. As I mentioned before, I don't think the
- 10:56Speaker 1: contract at all to help the tyson to go there,
- 10:59Speaker 1: So I think that'll be really good for Odell. As
- 11:02Speaker 1: far as Odell the player, you know, I think that
- 11:05Speaker 1: the situation he really needed to be in at this
- 11:07Speaker 1: point is not to be the number one guy. I
- 11:09Speaker 1: don't know if they're going to count on him to
- 11:11Speaker 1: be the number one. When you look at their receiving group,
- 11:13Speaker 1: I think they still have a lot of work to
- 11:15Speaker 1: be done there. Don't preclude them not taking a receiver
- 11:19Speaker 1: in the draft because I think at this point Odell
- 11:21Speaker 1: coming off the ACL and the age may not be that, hey,
- 11:25Speaker 1: let's throw the ball ten times and this guy is
- 11:27Speaker 1: more of a specialist couple explosive plays a game to
- 11:29Speaker 1: help the team win. So interested to see how again
- 11:32Speaker 1: the Ravens attack the receiver group in the draft Andrew.
- 11:35Speaker 1: For me, the low key under the radar headline from
- 11:38Speaker 1: yesterday is the fact that Odell basically admitted that it
- 11:41Speaker 1: is a minor miracle his knee made it to Super
- 11:44Speaker 1: Bowl fifty six, then those final three months with the
- 11:47Speaker 1: Rams there, he basically showed up in La without an
- 11:51Speaker 1: acl It's a miracle. He made it to the second
- 11:54Speaker 1: quarter of that game, scored a touchdown early to help
- 11:57Speaker 1: the Rams get that ring. He called it bittersweet champagne.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Now he gets another chance here in Baltimore. Thank you, Sherry,
- 12:04Speaker 1: Thank you Mark. You're watching NFL now, NFL Network. See
- 12:09Speaker 1: that helmet Patrick Mahomes is wearing pretty distinctive. Everyone knows. Hey,
- 12:13Speaker 1: Mahomes helmets a little bit different. It's made by a
- 12:15Speaker 1: company called Vices. It's called the zero two helmet. Not
- 12:19Speaker 1: the only guy in the NFL that wears it, but
- 12:21Speaker 1: you know, Mahomes helmet. Look, we're all about players safety here.
- 12:25Speaker 1: We're all about making these helmets better. High their Judy Batista,
- 12:28Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes is gonna wear, or has the option rather
- 12:31Speaker 1: of wearing this coming season, a different version of that
- 12:35Speaker 1: helmet specifically designed for quarterbacks. Tell me about that. Yeah,
- 12:41Speaker 1: all quarterbacks are going to have the option of wearing it. Actually,
- 12:44Speaker 1: it is a new helmet just coming on the market
- 12:47Speaker 1: and approved by the NFL and the players Union for
- 12:50Speaker 1: use this year, and it is specially designed to mitigate
- 12:54Speaker 1: the impact that quarterbacks take and most half of all
- 12:59Speaker 1: concussions and quarterbacks are called when their head hits the ground,
- 13:02Speaker 1: like when they're sacked. Once they land on the back
- 13:04Speaker 1: of their head or on the side of the head.
- 13:06Speaker 1: So this helmet, which actually looks the same on the outside,
- 13:09Speaker 1: it's the internal structure that is different. The internal structure
- 13:13Speaker 1: is different to better absorb that impact. I'm not a
- 13:17Speaker 1: structural engineer, but I'll try to explain this. They are
- 13:20Speaker 1: very very tiny little rods inside that helmet, and by
- 13:24Speaker 1: changing the diameter and the length and the number of
- 13:27Speaker 1: those rods, the engineers can make it so that it
- 13:30Speaker 1: better absorbs the force of hitting the ground. And they
- 13:34Speaker 1: say in their initial testing this year it was seven
- 13:38Speaker 1: percent better at mitigating the impact. That doesn't seem like
- 13:43Speaker 1: much maybe to those of us on the outside, but
- 13:45Speaker 1: obviously this is, first of all, the first generation of
- 13:48Speaker 1: these kinds of helmets, and the idea is any improvement
- 13:52Speaker 1: is better than nothing, And especially in a year when
- 13:54Speaker 1: we saw a rise in diagnosed concussions, especially among quarterbacks. Yeah,
- 13:58Speaker 1: I think of the Ti plant Cincinnati back of the
- 14:00Speaker 1: head against the turf, and obviously everything that that led
- 14:04Speaker 1: to the helmet was called the zero two, the one
- 14:06Speaker 1: that Mahomes was wearing. This new quarterback one, the zero
- 14:08Speaker 1: two matrix. Judy, do we know how many quarterbacks potentially
- 14:12Speaker 1: could be wearing it any idea? We don't know yet,
- 14:16Speaker 1: and it's early. I will say this. Quarterbacks and actually
- 14:21Speaker 1: players in general, are usually slow to change equipment because
- 14:24Speaker 1: obviously they get very comfortable and very confident in the
- 14:27Speaker 1: equipment that they are wearing, so sometimes it takes a
- 14:30Speaker 1: few years for them to embrace new equipment, especially quarterbacks
- 14:34Speaker 1: and their helmets, because sight lines are so important to them.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Obviously comfort is important to every player. They would like
- 14:42Speaker 1: to see quarterbacks try this. But just as an example,
- 14:45Speaker 1: last year, the same company came out with a helmet
- 14:48Speaker 1: designed specifically for lineman offensive and defensive linemen to help
- 14:52Speaker 1: the impact they take. They take more impact on the
- 14:55Speaker 1: forehead and the face mask, and only a handful of
- 14:59Speaker 1: players wore that last year, so I think it takes time,
- 15:01Speaker 1: It takes some education. The equipment managers for the teams
- 15:04Speaker 1: are all than that too. Before players are comfortable changing equipment.
- 15:08Speaker 1: But certainly this seems to be the direction that helmet
- 15:11Speaker 1: manufacturers are going in position specific helmets, and this is
- 15:15Speaker 1: just another step here potentially in lowering the number of concussions,
- 15:19Speaker 1: including this season expanding the use of the Guardian cap, which,
- 15:22Speaker 1: even though they kind of look a little bit different,
- 15:24Speaker 1: the numbers showed were effective last year in cutting down
- 15:29Speaker 1: concussions before the season and during training camp. Jiji Batista
- 15:32Speaker 1: with the latest Thank you Judy Thriskie Man fifteen minutes.
- 15:37Speaker 1: I love it, I love it, I love it. A
- 15:38Speaker 1: laser from Josh Allen. Who are looking clips at, don't
- 15:41Speaker 1: peel white old man. Let touchmith sho start the thirty
- 15:45Speaker 1: half ahead twenty five twenty shoes to fifteen ten five touchdown.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Caught in the end zone for a touchdown. Helen Lasar
- 15:55Speaker 1: with a great catch. Take that home with you. Tua
- 15:58Speaker 1: could put it only there, jew jew Smith Shoe start
- 16:02Speaker 1: toutch down Helenasar left side of the end zone. Yeah,
- 16:15Speaker 1: as we await the Aaron Rodgers news, who knows, Maybe
- 16:17Speaker 1: it happens today, I doubt it. Let's hit the roster
- 16:20Speaker 1: reset button on the AFC East and look at some
- 16:24Speaker 1: of these moves. Here, Damien Harris goes within division to Buffalo.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Ju Ju is the new guy replacing Kobe Myers in
- 16:32Speaker 1: New England, catch and passes, Chuck Clark, Allen Lazard among
- 16:35Speaker 1: the notable Jets moves. Still waiting for another move, Sherry
- 16:41Speaker 1: burst Mark Ross with us now it hit the roster
- 16:43Speaker 1: reset button on this division here, Sherry, let's start in
- 16:46Speaker 1: Buffalo as they try to redo their secondary. I mean
- 16:49Speaker 1: huge that Jordan Poyer is back. Obviously. I don't know
- 16:52Speaker 1: if anyone saw that one coming. Yeah, absolutely, I mean really,
- 16:55Speaker 1: the question when you look ahead to the draft of
- 16:56Speaker 1: the Bills is how aggressive are they going to be
- 16:59Speaker 1: in the secondary. The Bills won the division three consecutive seasons,
- 17:03Speaker 1: so we know they think they're close, right, maybe just
- 17:05Speaker 1: missing one or two key pieces to get them over
- 17:08Speaker 1: that hump. In this past year, we saw that depth
- 17:11Speaker 1: really became an issue, playing third and fourth string guys,
- 17:14Speaker 1: particularly in the secondary. But as you mentioned it, Jordan poyerback,
- 17:19Speaker 1: also Micah Hyde, and some consider them one of the
- 17:22Speaker 1: best one two punches in the secondary in the NFL.
- 17:26Speaker 1: But you got to remember these guys are in their thirties.
- 17:28Speaker 1: They're both coming back. This could be their last year
- 17:31Speaker 1: playing together. Talking to folks with the Bills, that kind
- 17:34Speaker 1: of feels that last dance by between the two of them.
- 17:37Speaker 1: So the Bill secondary, they were in the middle of
- 17:39Speaker 1: the pack in the league last year, ranking fifteenth, allowing
- 17:43Speaker 1: about two hundred and fourteen passing yards per game. So
- 17:46Speaker 1: as we look ahead, we wonder what will they do,
- 17:48Speaker 1: how aggressive will they be with that twenty seventh pick
- 17:51Speaker 1: there in Kansas City. Well, Jerry revamping that secondary, but
- 17:55Speaker 1: I think what really let them down last year in
- 17:57Speaker 1: the playoff game against Cincinnati when they just got absolutely steamrolled,
- 18:00Speaker 1: was their defensive line. And the Bills had invested a
- 18:04Speaker 1: lot first round pick on Ed Oliver, a first round
- 18:08Speaker 1: pick on Greg Russo's second round pick on aj Epinenza's
- 18:11Speaker 1: second round pick on Boogie Bashup, and then a ton
- 18:14Speaker 1: of money for von Miller who got hurt last year,
- 18:17Speaker 1: and none of those guys really have stepped up and
- 18:20Speaker 1: performed to the level that the Bills thought they would get.
- 18:24Speaker 1: And I can here you go. You draft those four
- 18:26Speaker 1: guys the first two rounds, it was going to be
- 18:27Speaker 1: your cornerstone, and they really haven't stepped up. Now you
- 18:30Speaker 1: got von Miller coming back off the injury thirty four
- 18:33Speaker 1: years old. What is he going to bring you? So,
- 18:36Speaker 1: although there's a lot of resources and a lot of
- 18:38Speaker 1: value that was placed in that D line, I think
- 18:40Speaker 1: they still have to really look at that based off
- 18:43Speaker 1: of how they performed against Cincinnati. Yes, during the regular season,
- 18:46Speaker 1: the Bills can get by Josh Allen work at his
- 18:48Speaker 1: magic the offense, but when it comes to playing Cincinnati
- 18:52Speaker 1: in Kansas City charges coming on the better teams, that
- 18:55Speaker 1: D line really has to step up, and they have
- 18:57Speaker 1: not shown the ability to do that in the last
- 18:59Speaker 1: two playoff losses. So it'll be interesting. Yes, the secondary
- 19:02Speaker 1: has to be addressed, but I'm thinking it all starts
- 19:05Speaker 1: up front there and those guys really have underperformed. The
- 19:07Speaker 1: Bills might have to look that way too. Andrew Listen,
- 19:10Speaker 1: it's the same I don't want to say the same
- 19:12Speaker 1: old song here. It's the off season, it's Buffalo. We're
- 19:15Speaker 1: trying to figure out how this team gets over the
- 19:17Speaker 1: hump here. I know they're sick of hearing it in Buffalo,
- 19:20Speaker 1: but it is kind of sort of the story here.
- 19:22Speaker 1: The Bills pick twenty seventh overall, they have more picks,
- 19:25Speaker 1: or almost as many picks in the top one hundred
- 19:27Speaker 1: and three as the Dolphins having the entire draft. Miami
- 19:30Speaker 1: has only four selections. Let's transition to them in the
- 19:34Speaker 1: entire draft as they try to find a way to
- 19:38Speaker 1: take the next step as well. Here to build around
- 19:41Speaker 1: two who we saw at his charity event earlier this
- 19:44Speaker 1: week in Miami were in the lay at the lou
- 19:47Speaker 1: Ale with the new mustache, with his fifth year option
- 19:50Speaker 1: already picked up. Here as we try to figure out
- 19:55Speaker 1: how to build around work with that mark? You don't
- 19:59Speaker 1: you don't like the dance. Yeah, we gotta work with
- 20:02Speaker 1: that too. I don't know about that one, right, I'm
- 20:05Speaker 1: a talent evaluated, not a dance round. They got to
- 20:08Speaker 1: work on that. They do not pick in the first
- 20:10Speaker 1: round because they had that pick taken from them the
- 20:13Speaker 1: tampering punishment from this past year. Mark, they don't pick
- 20:17Speaker 1: until fifty first overall, how do they build around Twoa's
- 20:21Speaker 1: burgeoning dance career. Yeah, well, remember a couple of years
- 20:24Speaker 1: ago and it seemed like they had what the fifty
- 20:27Speaker 1: picks Andrew, We're talking about all these picks that the
- 20:30Speaker 1: Dolphins have, right, But it's all about you got to
- 20:32Speaker 1: hit on those picks and you got to make those
- 20:35Speaker 1: picks come into great players. And still up in the
- 20:37Speaker 1: air whether the Dolphins have done that, but yes, they
- 20:40Speaker 1: were supposed to have two first round picks of this
- 20:41Speaker 1: drap One got taken away the tampering with Brady and
- 20:44Speaker 1: Sean Payton, and the other one was in the form
- 20:49Speaker 1: of Bradley Chubb. So first round pick for Bradley Chub.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Sorry about that for Bradley Chubb. So that's where the
- 20:54Speaker 1: two first round picks are there. Third round pick up
- 20:57Speaker 1: to Jalen Ramsey this year as well. So that's why
- 20:59Speaker 1: you see them with only four picks in this draft.
- 21:02Speaker 1: So when I'm looking at the Dolphins, the team that
- 21:05Speaker 1: you see there for the Dolphs, I think is the
- 21:06Speaker 1: team that you're going to trot out there. A bunch
- 21:09Speaker 1: of veterans, rookies, I mean, young guys that they drafted
- 21:12Speaker 1: a couple first couple of years. I wouldn't expect a
- 21:14Speaker 1: lot of big impact from this year's draft class. But
- 21:18Speaker 1: with the Dolphins, you have to say, this is a
- 21:19Speaker 1: team got Ramsey, We've got Chubb, these are our draft picks.
- 21:22Speaker 1: You guys have to go up there and perform and
- 21:24Speaker 1: win games for US now, and of course it always
- 21:26Speaker 1: gets back to two and his health. But those draft
- 21:29Speaker 1: picks are veterans now who have to perform YEP, and
- 21:31Speaker 1: they have Mike White now backing up to his name
- 21:34Speaker 1: was on that list we started our AFC East roster
- 21:38Speaker 1: reset with. So the O'Dell thing was nice, But the
- 21:42Speaker 1: coolest thing that happened this week in the Ravens building
- 21:45Speaker 1: is Stacy Dale's being there on Wednesday speak at the
- 21:49Speaker 1: eighth annual Lift Conference leading and inspiring females to thrive.
- 21:55Speaker 1: It's a leadership seminar where Stacy was there talking to
- 21:59Speaker 1: young women student athletes from local high school. Stacy did
- 22:02Speaker 1: so not only as an NFL broadcaster, but as an
- 22:04Speaker 1: All America and as a w NBA All Star, as
- 22:07Speaker 1: an Olympian, as a basketball legend. Bring it on, Stacy.
- 22:12Speaker 1: How cool was that? Andrew? This was one of the
- 22:16Speaker 1: best experiences I've had. This is my fifteenth season as
- 22:20Speaker 1: I entered in the NFL and to go to a
- 22:22Speaker 1: first class organization like the Baltimore Ravens and get an
- 22:26Speaker 1: invitation at first from their PR staff. Patrick Gleason sent
- 22:29Speaker 1: me the email and they did such a fine job
- 22:32Speaker 1: in Baltimore, and then to become sort of connected to
- 22:36Speaker 1: Heather Darney, who who's the VP of Community Relations, and
- 22:40Speaker 1: then Drew Meyer, their community community relations coordinator, and the
- 22:44Speaker 1: way they treated me and then what they presented to me.
- 22:48Speaker 1: This was an opportunity for me to talk to ninth, tenth,
- 22:51Speaker 1: and eleventh graders. These kids chosen, these young ladies chosen
- 22:55Speaker 1: by their athletic directors across Maryland. Their coaches kind of
- 22:59Speaker 1: nominated or referred, and then it's it's really basically a
- 23:02Speaker 1: leadership seminar orference that we go through. I got to
- 23:06Speaker 1: do some different activities with the ladies afterwards. I love
- 23:10Speaker 1: this so much. It was the eighth annual that they
- 23:12Speaker 1: did these ravens with LYFT, and I would love for
- 23:15Speaker 1: the league to adopt this because I can only imagine
- 23:18Speaker 1: all thirty two and I think they're the only team
- 23:21Speaker 1: that is actually doing something like this. We're talking about
- 23:23Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty gals. Coach Harbos spoke for thirty minutes.
- 23:26Speaker 1: He was awesome. He talked about Lamar Jackson a little bit.
- 23:30Speaker 1: I'm going to keep that tight to the vest here,
- 23:33Speaker 1: but ultimately it's just such an inspiring day for them
- 23:37Speaker 1: and the questions they ask. These are such bright individuals again,
- 23:40Speaker 1: really a group of ladies from across Maryland, and they
- 23:43Speaker 1: were so eager, and I loved that I could share
- 23:47Speaker 1: some of the messages that I've learned along the way
- 23:49Speaker 1: in the journey, because the journey is what it is, Andrew,
- 23:52Speaker 1: and all the years that we've done TV in my
- 23:54Speaker 1: sports career, there's a lot of ups and downs along
- 23:56Speaker 1: the way, and I love that I had the chance
- 23:58Speaker 1: to impart that upon these young ladies. Again, I hope
- 24:01Speaker 1: the league adopts this because I think it could be
- 24:04Speaker 1: monstrous for females across our country in NFL cities and
- 24:08Speaker 1: grow to great heights. Absolutely, Stacey ad like thirty seconds,
- 24:12Speaker 1: give me your number one message for these young ladies.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Number one message for these ladies and for all gals
- 24:18Speaker 1: really is to be a self starter in everything you do.
- 24:23Speaker 1: You know, we are so into Instagram and TikTok and
- 24:26Speaker 1: all these things and we want to post stuff, But
- 24:28Speaker 1: what are you doing behind the scenes to better your craft?
- 24:31Speaker 1: And that was kind of the big message that I
- 24:33Speaker 1: gave these young ladies and they loved it, and I
- 24:35Speaker 1: hope I get to go back again and do it again.
- 24:37Speaker 1: So cool. And I hope other teams hear what you
- 24:40Speaker 1: said earlier and that is this is something they can
- 24:43Speaker 1: adopt as well. The LIFT conference there for young student
- 24:47Speaker 1: athletes that the Ravens have held for now the eighth year.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Stacy Dale is a huge part of it. Stacy, thank
- 24:54Speaker 1: you great stuff. As always appreciate you and I know
- 24:56Speaker 1: they appreciate it there in Maryland as well. NFL Now
