- 0:07Speaker 1: off the bench. Hour two of Off the Bench Live
- 0:10Speaker 1: from the Raising Kine Studio.

- 0:28Speaker 4: Flynn here in Tampa. Billy Lucci over our shoulder talking
- 0:33Speaker 4: about Texas A.
- 0:33Speaker 2: And m yep yep, yep, yep.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I can hear him all.
- 0:36Speaker 4: Later in this week, I heard somebody say Loch. Yeah,
- 0:39Speaker 4: it's always good to have like a nickname like that,
- 0:41Speaker 4: you know.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Yeah, ch did I hear a dragon?
- 0:46Speaker 5: Hear that?
- 0:47Speaker 3: You did not hear a dragon?
- 0:49Speaker 2: You did not hear? It's funny.
- 0:52Speaker 4: So I so I finally just got Wi fi for
- 0:55Speaker 4: the day. I was on the hotspot for a little bit.
- 0:57Speaker 4: It was going in and out, but there was a
- 0:59Speaker 4: hotspot that was Dragon three. Yep, it's still out there,
- 1:04Speaker 4: Dragon says Dragon three. This man really named his hotspot dragon.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that's my name.
- 1:12Speaker 4: So do you think there's anybody else that's in this
- 1:16Speaker 4: room that's like searching for Wi fis?
- 1:18Speaker 3: And they're like, what is true? In the hell? Is
- 1:20Speaker 3: Dragon three.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah, why is that? I gotta sound sweet? You know?
- 1:25Speaker 6: This is and this is the third phone I've named Dragon.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Yeah, hence the three. Yeah, I've been doing it in
- 1:31Speaker 2: a while. Bud.
- 1:32Speaker 4: I tried to get on there, but ask for the password,
- 1:34Speaker 4: and I tried a bunch of different ones.
- 1:35Speaker 3: But I didn't get it.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Do you try Dragon?
- 1:42Speaker 3: He really would have that.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I don't know what it is.
- 1:44Speaker 6: It's like it's one of these you know, when you
- 1:46Speaker 6: set up a password, do they ask you to change
- 1:48Speaker 6: your password?
- 1:49Speaker 2: They're like, do you want us to set you up
- 1:50Speaker 2: an automatic super secure one thirty seven letters? Absolutely not? Yeah,
- 1:56Speaker 2: do not want you to do that? Yeah, let me
- 1:58Speaker 2: get back to my Dragon. Yeah. Yeah, his password's probably
- 2:02Speaker 2: capital D. Yeah.
- 2:05Speaker 6: Sometimes you set up that password and it gives you
- 2:07Speaker 6: the four bars, and that's like the degree of difficulty
- 2:11Speaker 6: difficulty it is. I'm a two bar max two bar macks.
- 2:16Speaker 6: You're supposed to get to four though, are you? I
- 2:18Speaker 6: think so?
- 2:19Speaker 2: Where it turns green, I'm.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Just glad to have internet.
- 2:24Speaker 6: I'm still on the hotspot because Dragon three hot spot.
- 2:27Speaker 6: It's better than this. Marriotte guest WiFi.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Well, no, the sec one finally works.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I don't even see that one pop, you know.
- 2:37Speaker 4: We so we do events like this every year. We
- 2:39Speaker 4: do the Senior Bowl, all these events, and always without failure,
- 2:44Speaker 4: the Morning Show the first day.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Internet never works. It doesn't. It's like they're.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Surprised that people are here to do the show on
- 2:52Speaker 4: the first day. Like wait a minute, you're you're gonna
- 2:55Speaker 4: do it at the same time, You'll always do it
- 2:56Speaker 4: from here.
- 2:59Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean there's very few things. Well, now, Rivers
- 3:04Speaker 6: might disagree with us, there's very few things that we
- 3:07Speaker 6: need to conduct this show. Internet is certainly I would
- 3:11Speaker 6: feel like number one leaking for us.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Now. I know that little.
- 3:15Speaker 6: Box over there is pretty important, but yeah, it's uh.
- 3:18Speaker 6: Internet can't fly blind around these things, especially when there's
- 3:21Speaker 6: people and like this is a serious I know, like
- 3:25Speaker 6: we I'm.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Named him a lot and I struggle Peel's names.
- 3:28Speaker 6: But like in this setting as well, like when you
- 3:31Speaker 6: have a ton of people that you don't really know
- 3:34Speaker 6: that well when you're interviewing you know, we interviewed you're
- 3:39Speaker 6: a very nice young man from Missouri, like Nicholas Rodriguez.
- 3:44Speaker 2: No I know, yeah, I know, miss b.
- 3:50Speaker 4: To your point, the internet, you need some internet, you
- 3:53Speaker 4: dot I pulled it up on my phone. I was like, look,
- 3:55Speaker 4: I don't even really care if Nicholas sees this on
- 3:57Speaker 4: my phone because you know, we hadn't done a deep
- 4:02Speaker 4: dive certain way to do that with our guy, mister football. See,
- 4:06Speaker 4: but you go back chat and I need to pull
- 4:09Speaker 4: you up. I just got internet, so I apologize. Tony
- 4:14Speaker 4: Barnhardt's a staple of college football in the SEC. It's
- 4:17Speaker 4: not abnormal for somebody to know exactly who that is.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Okay, I think it's.
- 4:23Speaker 2: A little I think I think it's more.
- 4:25Speaker 3: You that you don't know me.
- 4:27Speaker 4: I think so, and I would tell you, like, this
- 4:30Speaker 4: isn't a bit like I really like he's been around SEC.
- 4:32Speaker 4: I mean, he wrote a book fifty years. Maybe it's
- 4:35Speaker 4: because you grew up in the Big twelve, but like
- 4:39Speaker 4: what okay, you know what I mean? And what capacity
- 4:43Speaker 4: though spent a sports rider radio okaycause work for CBS, like.
- 4:49Speaker 2: When they had the game of the week.
- 4:50Speaker 6: He's got some good stories and I do like counting
- 4:52Speaker 6: that book. He's like more his top moments and not
- 4:57Speaker 6: yet and not just like the you.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Know whatever, oh seven Florida LSU game.
- 5:02Speaker 4: That's in there though, Yeah, it is, but he was
- 5:06Speaker 4: because that was his memory from Lshue he was at
- 5:08Speaker 4: the game. Well all right, but I know what you're saying.
- 5:12Speaker 4: That's like the same ones that everybody usually talks about,
- 5:15Speaker 4: not the standards. So I'm looking forward to that's gonna
- 5:18Speaker 4: be a good butt audio version obviously clearly.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't read all that. What are we doing here? Yeah?
- 5:27Speaker 6: Yeah, it's gonna be tough though, to listen to that
- 5:31Speaker 6: anything over historical podcasts. That's what I listened to, Daniel Basham.
- 5:39Speaker 6: Just don't connect to a bad underscore Dragon.
- 5:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't want to do that. Lsu Yetti. The
- 5:45Speaker 4: box is important. Walk into that one.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Uh easy? How about them? How about them Spaniards?
- 5:53Speaker 2: Huh?
- 5:54Speaker 3: Total victory.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Spain put on a clinic yesterday, absolute clinic. Argentina was
- 6:01Speaker 4: in a blender the entire game. I surprised that thing
- 6:03Speaker 4: with the extra time.
- 6:06Speaker 6: What did they do to like you think about putting
- 6:10Speaker 6: Argentina in a blender?
- 6:11Speaker 4: Defensively, like they just didn't give up anything, Like Argentina
- 6:15Speaker 4: might not have had a shot on goal like or target,
- 6:18Speaker 4: like they only had like eight touches in the box.
- 6:20Speaker 4: He's overrated, No, just Spain's I tell how Spain plays.
- 6:24Speaker 4: They had seven shutouts I think in this World Cup alone,
- 6:27Speaker 4: and like their goalie only had like ten saves the
- 6:31Speaker 4: entire tournament.
- 6:32Speaker 3: They didn't even like get to him.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I could have played goalie.
- 6:35Speaker 6: Yes, could the American goalie have played goalie and they
- 6:39Speaker 6: won as.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Long as he didn't come out of the box like
- 6:40Speaker 4: he did it against Belgium. You know, shout out to Landra.
- 6:45Speaker 4: She had Spain off the time of Spain. You know,
- 6:47Speaker 4: she she changed it to Mexico. I think just out
- 6:51Speaker 4: of fandom, which I can appreciate, but she said Spain
- 6:54Speaker 4: from the very get go.
- 6:55Speaker 6: Yeah, I Landra, I don't know if we can, you know,
- 6:58Speaker 6: do this, but you need to break and need to
- 7:00Speaker 6: walk over there and get the turnover chain, and we
- 7:03Speaker 6: need to get some sort of something posted with you
- 7:06Speaker 6: wearing it. We hadn't done that like the past couple
- 7:08Speaker 6: of times. If somebody's wanted to turnover chain, we had
- 7:11Speaker 6: put it on.
- 7:11Speaker 4: I know what I should I should have got it
- 7:13Speaker 4: for Oklahoma baseball.
- 7:14Speaker 6: Yeah, we haven't plage since if we don't use it,
- 7:18Speaker 6: it loses its power.
- 7:20Speaker 2: So we got to use it.
- 7:20Speaker 6: So Andre, we need to get that thing on, get
- 7:22Speaker 6: you on camera something. Yeah, let need proof because it's
- 7:27Speaker 6: a big deal.
- 7:28Speaker 2: My team went out so early. I went to Germany.
- 7:31Speaker 2: You went Netlands.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Yeah, Nana Laners and Tata went.
- 7:40Speaker 6: Another team that lost, another team that did not win,
- 7:44Speaker 6: win at all.
- 7:45Speaker 2: You're right, eh, but.
- 7:49Speaker 3: I Croatia for Tatay, thank you.
- 7:51Speaker 6: Unfortunately, I uh again, was traveling for about sixteen hours yesterday,
- 7:57Speaker 6: so I didn't get a chance. And you know, when
- 7:58Speaker 6: you're one of those long plane, so you have the
- 8:01Speaker 6: you have the screen in the back. Every sea's got
- 8:03Speaker 6: the screen in the back of the headrest in front
- 8:05Speaker 6: of you. And I was so excited because it was
- 8:08Speaker 6: one of those planes that had live TV. And it
- 8:10Speaker 6: like pulls up, you know, Direct TV or whatever it is,
- 8:13Speaker 6: and I clicked the guide channel and it says.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Boom FIFA World Cup. Yeah, and I'm like, boom, pushed.
- 8:20Speaker 6: It all cocky, it's excited, no service.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Oh I.
- 8:26Speaker 4: We didn't have TVs on the plane that we were on,
- 8:28Speaker 4: but it was like me and one other guy, I.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Think watching the World Cup. Yeah on our phones.
- 8:35Speaker 4: I look over and it's the World It's a final
- 8:38Speaker 4: of the World Cup.
- 8:39Speaker 3: I look over. I'm sitting next.
- 8:41Speaker 4: To Haunt on the plane, and Hunt's watching a game
- 8:45Speaker 4: in which the Cubs were winning ten to nothing over
- 8:48Speaker 4: the Twins instead of watching the World Cup.
- 8:51Speaker 3: I'm like, your team's winning by.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Kens, it's a meaningless regular season baseball game against the Twins.
- 8:59Speaker 3: To then he was locked in.
- 9:01Speaker 6: Well, he was like, well, Louisiana folks need to hear
- 9:03Speaker 6: these takes from this game, you know, certainly, Yeah, that's
- 9:07Speaker 6: a that's a choice for sure. They're not try to
- 9:09Speaker 6: connect with Wi Fi and WiFi wasn't strong enough either.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 9:13Speaker 4: I I appreciate you getting dialed in, though I was
- 9:16Speaker 4: out in for what I could be. I'm sure you
- 9:17Speaker 4: probably would have been dialed into Sam Burns as well.
- 9:21Speaker 6: Yes, I do know that he held a fifty four
- 9:23Speaker 6: hole lead. Yeah, going into Sunday and which is not
- 9:26Speaker 6: an uncommon place for him, and.
- 9:28Speaker 3: He made your champion drives in that spot.
- 9:31Speaker 6: Fifty if like, if he played on live, they played
- 9:35Speaker 6: three rounds, he would win every tournament.
- 9:37Speaker 3: I said something similar to Hunt yesterday.
- 9:39Speaker 4: I was like, if everything shut off after three rounds,
- 9:42Speaker 4: he might be the greatest golfer.
- 9:43Speaker 2: And I don't know what.
- 9:44Speaker 4: I don't know what it is, and Sam's so good
- 9:47Speaker 4: and he's so competitive, and he's such such a competitive
- 9:52Speaker 4: guy as far as like he wants the challenge, like
- 9:55Speaker 4: he doesn't shy away from it, like no one knew
- 9:57Speaker 4: a little bit like I do. Like that's you know,
- 9:59Speaker 4: there's a lot of guys like if the moment's too big,
- 10:01Speaker 4: it's like I don't really want any of that.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Like he wants it.
- 10:03Speaker 2: He wants to be that guy.
- 10:05Speaker 3: It's just it's not and.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Once it clicks, it's going to be just a waterfall
- 10:09Speaker 4: of success for him now. And he's so successful, right,
- 10:12Speaker 4: Like what he finishes, he indo finishing third, Right.
- 10:14Speaker 6: Yeah, I finished third. So he goes into Sunday as
- 10:17Speaker 6: a leader I believe about two shots he was, and
- 10:20Speaker 6: ends up shooting a plus two yesterday. Uh so, Ryan Fox,
- 10:25Speaker 6: the winner shoots minus.
- 10:27Speaker 4: It looks like it looked like Cameron Young was going
- 10:29Speaker 4: to sit in the clubhouse for three hours in the window.
- 10:31Speaker 6: He was in there for a couple hours and had
- 10:33Speaker 6: to start warming up a little bit getting ready for
- 10:35Speaker 6: a playoffs. Yeah, he goes and fires, my god, it
- 10:38Speaker 6: fires a seven sixty four on Sunday at the Open Championship.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Extremely impressive.
- 10:46Speaker 6: You want to think and you want to hope, and
- 10:49Speaker 6: we are all cheering as LSU fans, We're all cheering
- 10:52Speaker 6: for Sam Burns, and you want to hope that.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Once the damn breaks that he's got it clicks.
- 11:00Speaker 6: In golf is so hard, and just like you said,
- 11:04Speaker 6: he wants the challenge.
- 11:05Speaker 2: He wants to be in the spots.
- 11:06Speaker 6: So you don't ever like you don't want to be
- 11:08Speaker 6: like put that C word out there on what he's done.
- 11:12Speaker 6: But he's certainly been in this opportunity to win multiple
- 11:16Speaker 6: major championships now, like very easily he could be three
- 11:22Speaker 6: or four time major champion right now, which and he
- 11:25Speaker 6: just has not figured out how to whether it's mental, physical,
- 11:29Speaker 6: whatever it is, to put it all together for four
- 11:33Speaker 6: straight rounds.
- 11:33Speaker 4: But he's still still young, still going to play golf
- 11:36Speaker 4: for I mean, on the PGA Tour for decades. I
- 11:39Speaker 4: believe that he still has that long left. Eventually it's
- 11:44Speaker 4: going to happen. He's been way too close, But man,
- 11:46Speaker 4: I can't imagine like his mental state in the fact
- 11:50Speaker 4: that he's been there, been closed. He's had off the
- 11:54Speaker 4: top of my head major three top five finishes on
- 11:57Speaker 4: the top of my head and just hasn't been able
- 12:00Speaker 4: to finally get over that hunt. That's got to be
- 12:03Speaker 4: that when he has a league going into the fourth round.
- 12:06Speaker 3: It's human nature for that to creep in.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it is.
- 12:10Speaker 6: And you don't want to get into a spot where
- 12:13Speaker 6: you're like, oh my god, this is I've been in
- 12:15Speaker 6: the same spot so many times that it hasn't worked out.
- 12:17Speaker 6: And you think about that and I don't see that.
- 12:22Speaker 6: I don't see that happening, and we hope that it
- 12:24Speaker 6: doesn't happen. But you've certainly seen it with golfers in
- 12:27Speaker 6: the path. Yeah, you've certainly seen it with athletes in
- 12:29Speaker 6: the past. They get in that spot again where they
- 12:31Speaker 6: have failed and it's hard to say a failure, right,
- 12:34Speaker 6: but I can promise you if you're asked to Sam
- 12:37Speaker 6: Burns right now, he would say that was a failure, right,
- 12:41Speaker 6: Like even if you just came in third by yourself.
- 12:44Speaker 6: I want a lot of money and I want a
- 12:45Speaker 6: lot of money. And he did great, But he's been
- 12:47Speaker 6: there so many times. I can't see you. He's tired
- 12:51Speaker 6: of saying, Man, that was close, Man that was closed.
- 12:53Speaker 2: So he's going to break through.
- 12:54Speaker 6: He's going to break through, and we hope that once
- 12:57Speaker 6: it does that, it creates a snowball effect.
- 13:00Speaker 3: It will is going to happen for him.
- 13:01Speaker 4: And like you said, when it does happen, it is
- 13:03Speaker 4: going to be a waterfall of success. He's gonna win
- 13:06Speaker 4: multiple championships. He's just been too good, too close, and
- 13:09Speaker 4: eventually will.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Happen for our guy, Sam Burns.
- 13:12Speaker 3: All right, we will step away, get back to football.
- 13:14Speaker 3: When we come back here.

- 16:11Speaker 4: do I know that person? Do I recognize that person?
- 16:14Speaker 4: They're looking at me like I'm supposed to say, what's
- 16:15Speaker 4: up to him?
- 16:16Speaker 2: Yep?
- 16:16Speaker 4: I don't really know and me but this is the point,
- 16:20Speaker 4: Like this is one of like T Bob was always
- 16:22Speaker 4: t Bob would have no idea who it was, but
- 16:24Speaker 4: he was always really good at saying.
- 16:26Speaker 3: You know, like, oh yeah, what's going on?
- 16:28Speaker 2: Man?
- 16:28Speaker 3: Like I don't have that that's not me.
- 16:29Speaker 4: I don't have that, So I'm like, I'm probably being
- 16:32Speaker 4: pretty rude to a lot of people. But look, the
- 16:34Speaker 4: restroom is like a mile and a half yep away
- 16:36Speaker 4: from here, so we don't have time. We got a
- 16:38Speaker 4: pleasantry whatever it is. I saw my guy Jean Chiswick.
- 16:41Speaker 4: I wanted to go say what's up to Chips, but
- 16:43Speaker 4: I didn't have time. It's Jennie boy. He's not a
- 16:45Speaker 4: mouth really, he's a man. Absolutely still looks like he
- 16:48Speaker 4: might whip somebody's ass right now.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Really, Yeah, it looked great.
- 16:51Speaker 4: I'd like to see it. Yeah, I would like to
- 16:53Speaker 4: see it. It's gonna get done. You need to go okay,
- 16:56Speaker 4: then you need to arm wrestling.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Yeah. No, there is a.
- 16:59Speaker 6: Lot of awkward, like, oh, hey, man, I'll talk to
- 17:02Speaker 6: you in a second. I'll talk to you after the
- 17:03Speaker 6: show because I can't leave you hanging here when I
- 17:06Speaker 6: go to the restroom.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, there's a show. There's awesome information.
- 17:11Speaker 4: There's also a bunch of people coming up to Flynn
- 17:14Speaker 4: and they want him to come on their show and
- 17:16Speaker 4: he can't say no. But I see in his brain
- 17:20Speaker 4: he wants to say no so bad. He's like, you
- 17:23Speaker 4: really like you're probably expecting me to be able to
- 17:26Speaker 4: give you a breakdown of this Kentucky quarterback.
- 17:29Speaker 2: YEP, it's not gonna happen.
- 17:31Speaker 6: One guy just came up and said, you're coming on
- 17:32Speaker 6: my show talking LSU and I was like, the heck.
- 17:40Speaker 3: He even told you the topic.
- 17:42Speaker 2: He told me.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Anybody you're talking to L Shoe and I was like,
- 17:46Speaker 3: oh you.
- 17:47Speaker 2: I don't. I don't think you know me very well.
- 17:51Speaker 2: But it is.
- 17:51Speaker 6: It's a tough spot because like usually I would just
- 17:54Speaker 6: make an excuse, but I can't because you know, we're
- 17:57Speaker 6: all here stuck together at the same motel.
- 18:00Speaker 4: I'm going to ask you a question that you talked
- 18:01Speaker 4: a little bit about earlier. And there's different reasons maybe
- 18:04Speaker 4: why that guy's not here. Sometimes it's because he maybe
- 18:10Speaker 4: he's had an injury, they don't want to talk about it.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Sometimes he's in a competition, and if he's not in
- 18:14Speaker 4: a competition, maybe it is a little bit of.
- 18:16Speaker 2: An alarm like okay, well tell us the reason why.
- 18:18Speaker 4: Now with Sam Levitt, we talked about it, and I'm
- 18:20Speaker 4: talking about the quarterback position. Being here for your team
- 18:23Speaker 4: or not being here for your team for you know,
- 18:25Speaker 4: Sam Levitt it's a different situation. Like you said, man
- 18:28Speaker 4: hasn't practice yet in an LSU uniform, in a full practice.
- 18:31Speaker 4: The totality of the practice from start to finish hasn't
- 18:34Speaker 4: been in team drills, all right, So and you know, look,
- 18:38Speaker 4: you're gonna put a lot on the play to TJ.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Dottery as well.
- 18:40Speaker 4: Former old miss player is going to get asked a
- 18:42Speaker 4: lot of questions, and so you have a lot of
- 18:44Speaker 4: faith in him as a player. Now obviously weeks being here,
- 18:47Speaker 4: trade is being here. That made sense, and so I
- 18:49Speaker 4: do think it's a different situation for LSU. But if
- 18:52Speaker 4: you're one of these other teams, if you're a fan
- 18:55Speaker 4: of I don't know, Tennessee, if you're a fan of Vanderbilt,
- 18:59Speaker 4: if you're a fan of Missouri and the quarterback is
- 19:03Speaker 4: not here, do we read too much into that?
- 19:06Speaker 2: Is every situation going to be a little bit different.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Do you think it's a red flag?
- 19:11Speaker 6: It's a it's a good question to have. You don't
- 19:14Speaker 6: really know the mindset, Ye, great question, Thank you the cat.
- 19:17Speaker 2: You don't really know.
- 19:18Speaker 6: The mindset that these coaches carry into these weeks. Normally
- 19:22Speaker 6: I would say that you want to, you know, show
- 19:25Speaker 6: off your star players you want to rewards. Maybe maybe
- 19:28Speaker 6: it's one of the guys you want to reward because
- 19:30Speaker 6: they've been a part of the program for a long time.
- 19:33Speaker 6: They've been the epitome what it means to like represent
- 19:36Speaker 6: your college. So you want to reward them, and you
- 19:39Speaker 6: want to put your best foot forward from a personality standpoint,
- 19:42Speaker 6: from a leadership standpoint, and sometimes it's just about who
- 19:45Speaker 6: the best player is, right, you see all sorts, but
- 19:48Speaker 6: you don't know what the mindset is, like the Missouri one,
- 19:53Speaker 6: Like not taking Austin Simmons is a little bit different
- 19:57Speaker 6: than not taking Sam Levitt, Yeah to me, because you
- 19:59Speaker 6: know Sam's came Kim Lsu with an injury and he's
- 20:03Speaker 6: never played in the SEC right now.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Of course, Austin has played in the SEC.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Again, he was here last year for Old miss He
- 20:12Speaker 4: beat out TRENTI, Dad Chamblas.
- 20:13Speaker 6: Yeah, who's pretty decent at football, pretty good, I think.
- 20:17Speaker 6: So I don't know what the mindset really is. I
- 20:20Speaker 6: think maybe it's one of those situations, just as I
- 20:24Speaker 6: explained it with Lsu, that maybe Austin Simmons has not
- 20:27Speaker 6: technically air quotes been named the starter and they do
- 20:31Speaker 6: want to create this illusion of competition. So I you know,
- 20:36Speaker 6: every coach is has the opportunity and the wherewithal to
- 20:41Speaker 6: make the best decision he feels like for the team
- 20:43Speaker 6: or is just how they're feeling. Eli's this guy that
- 20:45Speaker 6: I mean, he's been there for a long time now,
- 20:47Speaker 6: like he's he's been in Missouri for a long time,
- 20:50Speaker 6: and he probably doesn't really care what people think on
- 20:52Speaker 6: who he brings, right, So true, But I think the
- 20:57Speaker 6: question certainly for all coaches who don't bring a quarterback, yeah,
- 21:02Speaker 6: they deserve a question of why.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Why why you didn't bring your quarterback?
- 21:06Speaker 6: Now, the competition is an easy one to do, Yeah,
- 21:08Speaker 6: it's an easy thing to say. But when you bring
- 21:09Speaker 6: a guy like Sam Levett Austin, so like those are
- 21:12Speaker 6: the questions, Hey, man, why didn't.
- 21:13Speaker 2: You bring them? You shut up?
- 21:15Speaker 4: So right now I bring it up because Alabama no quarterback,
- 21:19Speaker 4: Arkansas no quarterback, Florida no quarterback, LSU no quarterback, Missouri
- 21:26Speaker 4: no quarterback, Tennessee no quarterback, and Vanderbilt no quarterback. That
- 21:32Speaker 4: I don't remember a year where we can go down
- 21:35Speaker 4: the list and say that many teams left their quarterback
- 21:37Speaker 4: at home. And you're coming off a situation where Vanderbilt's
- 21:43Speaker 4: biggest star last year was their quarterback. You could argue
- 21:48Speaker 4: LSU's Garrett Nussmeyer, biggest guy that was here that everybody
- 21:51Speaker 4: want to talk to was their quarterback. So like we
- 21:53Speaker 4: can kind of go down the list and like kind
- 21:55Speaker 4: of say, even Alabama Ty Simpson first round draft pick quarterback.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Right, So it's a little bit of a situation. Yeah,
- 22:03Speaker 2: it's most of those schools. I get it. Most of
- 22:08Speaker 2: those schools.
- 22:09Speaker 6: I understand exactly why they didn't because it is the
- 22:11Speaker 6: competition deal. So yeah, I mean, Ala Dama. They don't
- 22:14Speaker 6: know who their quarterback is going to be, right A
- 22:16Speaker 6: good feeling. Yeah, most of these teams do not. So
- 22:19Speaker 6: we'll see.
- 22:20Speaker 4: All right, we're going to continue this conversation, but we
- 22:22Speaker 4: are going to take a quick break because Jim Naggy,
- 22:25Speaker 4: now GM of Oklahoma, of course was the guy who
- 22:29Speaker 4: ran the Senior Bowl for a very very long time,
- 22:31Speaker 4: is going to join us.
- 22:32Speaker 2: So going to have that conversation for you. Always remind
- 22:34Speaker 2: you abot.
- 22:34Speaker 4: Our friends over at rejuven me, rejeve me medical dot
- 22:37Speaker 4: com feel.
- 22:39Speaker 2: If you want that quick first step.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Last time I was in Tampa, I was playing in
- 22:42Speaker 4: the NFL had had that feeling in a long time
- 22:44Speaker 4: until I started working with reduce me at first steps back.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Well quick, you didn't even see it.
- 22:49Speaker 2: I did it.
- 22:50Speaker 6: You didn't even see yeh. It's the energy levels. It's
- 22:52Speaker 6: just that like you wake up and you put your
- 22:54Speaker 6: feet on the ground. You're like, yeah, let's get it.
- 22:56Speaker 6: Let's get the day today, like how we used to feel. Right,

- 23:16Speaker 4: information and incredibly easy process from start to finish.
- 23:20Speaker 3: All right, we will take a.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Break, Jim Naggy gonna jen us when we come back
- 23:24Speaker 4: here on OTB Off.
- 23:26Speaker 1: The Bench Live from the twenty twenty six SEC Football
- 23:31Speaker 1: Media Days in Tampa, presented by FMOL Health, Our Lady
- 23:35Speaker 1: of the Lake, Relief, Windows, Rev Fiver and Farish Construction
- 23:38Speaker 1: and Roofing.
- 23:52Speaker 4: All right, welcome back in it is OTV here live
- 23:55Speaker 4: from SEC Media Days in Tampa, and we are going
- 23:57Speaker 4: to be joined now by a very old friend, Jim Naggy.
- 24:02Speaker 4: You know him because we go to the Senior Bowl
- 24:04Speaker 4: every year and Jim ran the Senior Bowl for a
- 24:06Speaker 4: very long time, but over the last seventeen months he's
- 24:09Speaker 4: been the general manager of Oklahoma. And it's good enough
- 24:12Speaker 4: to stop by hang out with us for a couple
- 24:13Speaker 4: of minutes, and it's always a pleasure, sir.
- 24:15Speaker 5: Yeah, dude, good to see you guys.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Yeah, like you said, I mean, you get to come in,
- 24:19Speaker 4: hang out, talk Oklahoma and leave now. You don't have
- 24:22Speaker 4: to stay here for the grind of four days, talk about.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Every team and do a million interviews.
- 24:27Speaker 4: So we're glad you gave us a couple of minutes.
- 24:29Speaker 4: And we were actually talking a lot about Oklahoma in
- 24:32Speaker 4: our number one. How can we not love your quarterback,
- 24:35Speaker 4: I mean John Mattier, I mean from Texas.
- 24:37Speaker 3: So Flynn obviously appreciated.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Dad goes to Wazoo, works his butt off, comes to
- 24:42Speaker 4: Oklahoma playing an incredibly well I mean Heisman level hurts
- 24:46Speaker 4: his thumb doesn't want to miss any time, tries to
- 24:48Speaker 4: play through it.
- 24:49Speaker 2: He is one of the guys that last year.
- 24:51Speaker 4: After I had a conversation because I never met him before,
- 24:53Speaker 4: I had a conversation with him, I'm like, I'd follow
- 24:56Speaker 4: that guy. Yeah, whatever he wants me to do on
- 24:58Speaker 4: a football field, I'm following that guy and to see
- 25:00Speaker 4: him because he very easily. You know, he could have
- 25:03Speaker 4: shut it down. He could have shut it down last year. Yep,
- 25:05Speaker 4: that never entered his thought process.
- 25:07Speaker 5: No, I was.
- 25:08Speaker 7: It was Texas man. He grew up in Texas. It
- 25:10Speaker 7: was his first red River game. Like, you're not gonna
- 25:12Speaker 7: miss red River. But no, John's a stud man. I
- 25:14Speaker 7: can't I really can't say enough good things about him.
- 25:16Speaker 7: He leads in a lot of different ways. I mean,
- 25:19Speaker 7: you watch the tape. You guys have seen him play.
- 25:20Speaker 7: He leads through his toughness, he leads through his competitiveness,
- 25:23Speaker 7: and then he's very vocal. The challenge last year is
- 25:27Speaker 7: and I mean, Matt, you've you've done You've had to
- 25:29Speaker 7: do it. I mean you come into a new building,
- 25:31Speaker 7: you're the new guy, and you don't know anyone. And
- 25:34Speaker 7: uh so, no, he's in a totally different place than
- 25:37Speaker 7: he was a year ago. And then physically you saw
- 25:39Speaker 7: the man in camp pictures. So this is, this is,
- 25:41Speaker 7: this is if you got, if you got, if you
- 25:44Speaker 7: see him here today, like I'm gonna I'm uh, he's
- 25:46Speaker 7: gonna get He's gonna.
- 25:47Speaker 5: Get mad at me.
- 25:48Speaker 7: But we were all meeting upstairs as the staff before this.
- 25:51Speaker 7: He's gotten so big he couldn't button his his top button.
- 25:55Speaker 5: So like coaches big.
- 25:56Speaker 7: Thing is to wear ties like coach venables deals, so
- 25:59Speaker 7: you have to wear a shirtain tie.
- 26:00Speaker 5: He couldn't button his shirt, so we couldn't wear his tie.
- 26:02Speaker 5: That's how big he's gotten.
- 26:04Speaker 7: But he I'm telling you, man, like he's you want
- 26:06Speaker 7: your quarterback to be first guy and last guy out
- 26:08Speaker 7: all the cliche stuff.
- 26:10Speaker 5: He's that guy.
- 26:11Speaker 7: Like even in high school recruiting, you know, we have
- 26:14Speaker 7: to ask certain players like, man, can you be around
- 26:16Speaker 7: this weekend and help out and recruiting and do a
- 26:18Speaker 7: player panel or whatever. Like John's just there. Yeah, you know,
- 26:21Speaker 7: so he's he's fully bought in. I'm so excited for him,
- 26:24Speaker 7: Like he's put everything he can into this offseason and
- 26:28Speaker 7: yeah he's ready to go.
- 26:29Speaker 6: Yeah, Jake, we were talking about him earlier in the show. Uh,
- 26:33Speaker 6: and Jake is like, how important is the thumb to
- 26:35Speaker 6: the throw in hand, and I was like, well, damn important.
- 26:38Speaker 2: He kind of got a.
- 26:39Speaker 4: Grip of football to I believe you said that's what
- 26:42Speaker 4: separates us from animals.
- 26:46Speaker 2: That's right.
- 26:47Speaker 6: So yeah, pretty poor and he's just he's been impressive
- 26:49Speaker 6: and we know what he did before he got to Oklahoma,
- 26:52Speaker 6: and last year I was talking about he was one
- 26:54Speaker 6: of these guys that everybody was like, kind of building up,
- 26:58Speaker 6: building up, building up. This year, I kind of feel
- 27:00Speaker 6: like you said, it's the year with not a lot
- 27:02Speaker 6: of people talking about it.
- 27:04Speaker 2: And we like it that way.
- 27:05Speaker 6: Yeah right, Yeah, so all you started smirk when I
- 27:07Speaker 6: started saying that that's probably the way that you and
- 27:10Speaker 6: coach Edibles won it.
- 27:11Speaker 5: Yeah, no, there's no doubt, no.
- 27:12Speaker 7: I you kind of like flying under the radar as
- 27:15Speaker 7: a team. You guys know that from your your all
- 27:17Speaker 7: your football experience, you never want to be the team
- 27:19Speaker 7: that everyone's picking, right forget that. But you know the
- 27:22Speaker 7: goal of this offseason and in my role, was just
- 27:24Speaker 7: to build around John and in ben Arbackler offensive coordinator.
- 27:28Speaker 7: I mean, last year it's his first year in the
- 27:29Speaker 7: SEC and had a ton of success at.
- 27:31Speaker 5: His other stops.
- 27:33Speaker 7: But the secs at different animals, is we all know?
- 27:36Speaker 7: And uh so, like Ben was calling plays with one
- 27:39Speaker 7: hand tied behind his back. We got three freshmen on
- 27:41Speaker 7: the old line in the SEC. So we just we
- 27:44Speaker 7: attacked the portal. I mean, Brent's the defensive side is great,
- 27:47Speaker 7: Like they've done a great job. Yeah, we talked about
- 27:49Speaker 7: that earlier. I mean, it's a lot of guys coming
- 27:50Speaker 7: back that we're.
- 27:52Speaker 5: They're homegrown guys too.
- 27:53Speaker 7: I mean on that side of the ball, it's it's
- 27:54Speaker 7: crazy in this era college football. They're guys that we've recruited,
- 27:57Speaker 7: developed and are playing so and then we've had turnover
- 28:00Speaker 7: on the offensive staff. So when you have turnover on
- 28:03Speaker 7: the offensive staff, Jeff Levy goes to Mississippi State.
- 28:05Speaker 5: When coaches leave, players leave.
- 28:07Speaker 7: So we've got some catching up to do on that side.
- 28:10Speaker 7: But in the portal this year, like we really attacked
- 28:12Speaker 7: the offensive side. We flipped the tight end room needed
- 28:15Speaker 7: a lot of help there, went out and got three
- 28:17Speaker 7: guys I think can play on Sundays, you know. And
- 28:20Speaker 7: then Parker Livingston from Texas at receiver Ratrell Harris who
- 28:23Speaker 7: was an All a acc player at Virginia. So yeah,
- 28:27Speaker 7: I mean we The whole goal in every room in
- 28:30Speaker 7: the offseason in this role is to create the most
- 28:32Speaker 7: competition you can in every room, and I feel like
- 28:35Speaker 7: we did that and now I just can't wait to
- 28:37Speaker 7: put the pads on and see it.
- 28:38Speaker 4: So, Jimmy scouted for decades in the NFL, You scouted
- 28:41Speaker 4: for the Senior Bowl, and you're doing some of that
- 28:43Speaker 4: now in the transfer portal. How much different is that
- 28:45Speaker 4: with the time period you have to try to figure
- 28:47Speaker 4: out the portal compared to when you're scouting in the NFL.
- 28:50Speaker 4: I mean it's months and sometimes it's a year, or
- 28:53Speaker 4: maybe you go to a place you're like, hey man,
- 28:55Speaker 4: when that guy's eligible for the draft, like we already
- 28:57Speaker 4: got a book out on him, compared to the portal
- 28:59Speaker 4: where it's got that speed dating element to it. But
- 29:02Speaker 4: knowing how much scouting you've done, how do you try
- 29:04Speaker 4: to maximize that time?
- 29:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I would.
- 29:07Speaker 7: Say just the biggest thing for that is our structure.
- 29:10Speaker 7: So when I took the job, the administration was all
- 29:12Speaker 7: in on what we're doing and they gave me the ability.
- 29:15Speaker 7: We have got nine guys on our scouting staff. We
- 29:19Speaker 7: got a guy Charlie Parkinson that heads up our college scouting,
- 29:22Speaker 7: and you know, the danger of the portal I would
- 29:26Speaker 7: say is probably not knowing the players enough. Like through
- 29:28Speaker 7: recruiting you get to know the kids and their families.
- 29:31Speaker 7: In the portal, it's truly you're just like, Okay, we
- 29:34Speaker 7: like the player, we like his tape, but is he
- 29:36Speaker 7: going to fit in the culture. I think an advantage
- 29:39Speaker 7: we have on our staff with myself and Lake Dawson
- 29:42Speaker 7: was in the NFL for thirty years, six as a player,
- 29:44Speaker 7: in twenty four as an exac Taylor Red We've got
- 29:47Speaker 7: over seventy years of an NFL experience. So when we
- 29:50Speaker 7: went into the portal this year again for mostly upperclassmen,
- 29:54Speaker 7: for juniors and seniors, we called around to all our
- 29:56Speaker 7: guys in the league and if you were going through Florida, Okay,
- 30:00Speaker 7: what were they saying about Hayden Hansen? You know, like
- 30:02Speaker 7: they had the book on Hayden Hansen. You know, he's
- 30:05Speaker 7: a leader, he's mature, he's former quarterback from Texas, you
- 30:08Speaker 7: know all the stuff. So like we felt like we
- 30:11Speaker 7: knew our portal class probably better than some other schools
- 30:14Speaker 7: might know. There is just because we have those relationships,
- 30:16Speaker 7: if that if that makes sense, No, for sure, for sure.
- 30:18Speaker 6: And I could ask you like a thousand questions and
- 30:20Speaker 6: just like the nuances of high school scouting, portal scout
- 30:24Speaker 6: end because you got to build a book on so
- 30:26Speaker 6: many people. But you said something a little bit earlier
- 30:28Speaker 6: that I found interesting. He said, you got I think
- 30:30Speaker 6: you said three tight ends that could be pro caliber
- 30:33Speaker 6: and type players. How how connected hand in hand do
- 30:39Speaker 6: you have to be with the offensive and defensive coaching
- 30:42Speaker 6: staff and what they want to try to accomplish from
- 30:44Speaker 6: an ex's and O standpoint, Because like in the NFL,
- 30:47Speaker 6: there's a big push towards tight ends. The RAMS thirteen
- 30:51Speaker 6: personnel was one of their biggest personnel GROUPINGSFTED this year.
- 30:55Speaker 2: I think, yeah, yeah, it's great.
- 30:58Speaker 6: So, like the tight end position is really something that
- 31:01Speaker 6: NFL is pushing towards.
- 31:02Speaker 2: And I know college football sometimes likes.
- 31:04Speaker 6: To emulate pro football is from an X and O standpoint,
- 31:07Speaker 6: but not always.
- 31:08Speaker 7: Yeah, you have to be you know, when you work
- 31:10Speaker 7: in personnel, you have to know what you're asking the
- 31:12Speaker 7: players to do.
- 31:12Speaker 5: Scheme wise, you got to know the scheme.
- 31:14Speaker 7: You know, Like we're not coaches by any means, we
- 31:16Speaker 7: don't try to be, but you got to know what
- 31:18Speaker 7: you're asking you guys to do. So, yeah, that was
- 31:20Speaker 7: one of the first objectives when we got our staff
- 31:22Speaker 7: on board, is okay, let's get you know, let's get
- 31:24Speaker 7: in a meeting room with the defensive staff and let's
- 31:27Speaker 7: roll some tape and let's get with the offense.
- 31:29Speaker 5: So that was huge.
- 31:30Speaker 7: And then back to the tight end thing. Man, how
- 31:32Speaker 7: lucky were we this offseason to get Jason Witten?
- 31:35Speaker 5: I don't know how.
- 31:36Speaker 7: Yeah, you guys have probably cross paths to them.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Over the years.
- 31:39Speaker 5: Not all great players are great coaches. I mean, that
- 31:41Speaker 5: just doesn't happen.
- 31:42Speaker 3: All true.
- 31:43Speaker 7: He's a great coach man. And I'll say this, I mean,
- 31:46Speaker 7: seventeen years in the league. He's played just like you
- 31:48Speaker 7: guys who played for a lot of different coaches. You've
- 31:50Speaker 7: been round with a lot of different players. To Ben
- 31:53Speaker 7: Arbuckle's credit, I got to give him credit here. I
- 31:55Speaker 7: mean last year, he's a twenty nine year old guy
- 31:57Speaker 7: coordinating in the SEC. A lot of young guys would
- 32:00Speaker 7: have insecurity, you know, they they wouldn't embrace a guy
- 32:03Speaker 7: like Jason Witten. They would be like, dude, this is
- 32:05Speaker 7: my offense, this is what we do. And he hasn't
- 32:07Speaker 7: been that way. He's like, Okay, well, so we're gonna
- 32:10Speaker 7: probably look different this year on offense than we were
- 32:13Speaker 7: a year ago. I'm not gonna We didn't televise our
- 32:15Speaker 7: spring game on purpose, but Jason Witten influenced his influence.
- 32:20Speaker 7: And again, we would be we would be stupid, for
- 32:24Speaker 7: lack of a better phrase, would be stupid not to
- 32:27Speaker 7: you know, we got Jason Witten here, we got you know,
- 32:30Speaker 7: we got his.
- 32:30Speaker 5: Son coming in. He attracts recruits.
- 32:34Speaker 7: We've got we've got the number one tight end you
- 32:36Speaker 7: know in the country coming in next year because he
- 32:38Speaker 7: wants to play for Jason Wentt. And we got Jack
- 32:39Speaker 7: Van dorse Leer in the portal. Because the kid grew
- 32:42Speaker 7: up in Dallas. He was a four star. He goes
- 32:44Speaker 7: to Tennessee. He plays in every all thirteen games as
- 32:46Speaker 7: a true freshmen. We we didn't think he was going
- 32:48Speaker 7: in the portal. That's not a guy that we had
- 32:50Speaker 7: flagged to go in the portal.
- 32:52Speaker 5: And then Wentton calls.
- 32:53Speaker 7: He's like, he's like, man, some guy just called me,
- 32:55Speaker 7: Like friend of a friend in Dallas and his son
- 32:56Speaker 7: wants to play for me.
- 32:57Speaker 5: You know anything about him? I'm like no, but.
- 32:58Speaker 7: I'll put on the tape and so Jack Vandor slears
- 33:02Speaker 7: a sooner now.
- 33:03Speaker 5: So yeah, we.
- 33:03Speaker 4: Wait, we've talked way too long about tight ends at
- 33:06Speaker 4: Oklahoma and not mentioned the best name.
- 33:08Speaker 3: In football, Rocky Beers.
- 33:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:10Speaker 4: I mean, if that guy's not a meathead like me,
- 33:13Speaker 4: I'd be disappointed.
- 33:14Speaker 5: So listen, so listen.
- 33:15Speaker 7: So his sister, Reagan Beers, was our best basketball player
- 33:18Speaker 7: on our women's basketball team last year. And so I
- 33:22Speaker 7: call our Jenny Bronchick, our wins basketball coach, like, do
- 33:24Speaker 7: you know Rocky at all? She's like, yeah, he came
- 33:26Speaker 7: on the recruiting visit. I'm like, how awesome is this
- 33:28Speaker 7: gonna be? We're gonna have like dollar Beers, Like we're
- 33:31Speaker 7: gonna get like real and I ol for these year.
- 33:33Speaker 5: This is a layup And then.
- 33:36Speaker 7: There was like dead silence for a second. She goes Jim,
- 33:38Speaker 7: neither of them drank.
- 33:39Speaker 5: I'm like, you already had it already marketed out.
- 33:47Speaker 6: We looked up a picture of him too, and he
- 33:48Speaker 6: had a food man shoe and I was like, this
- 33:50Speaker 6: fits right here.
- 33:51Speaker 7: You got you guys, I mean every NFL locker room
- 33:53Speaker 7: you guys were in, there's always like that character like
- 33:56Speaker 7: that that is like that odd ball, Like Rocky is
- 33:59Speaker 7: that guy too? He's so like he's conspiracy theory guy.
- 34:03Speaker 5: If he were, he would be like the SoundBite master
- 34:07Speaker 5: of coming out. I say, like he's a he's a trip.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Well, we got to ask why.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Protection trying not to go viral.
- 34:19Speaker 4: I'll try not to get the clips last one, Jim
- 34:22Speaker 4: and Gosh, we always appreciate your time. Uh the schedule now,
- 34:26Speaker 4: adding another SEC game, A lot of people talked about
- 34:29Speaker 4: that for a lot of years and we all know,
- 34:32Speaker 4: we know the SEC played in. It's a grind. It's
- 34:34Speaker 4: gonna be even more of a grind now. But at
- 34:37Speaker 4: least you know you get another chance, another opportunity. With
- 34:40Speaker 4: the college football playoff system the way it is, it.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Helps you out a little bit.
- 34:44Speaker 4: But how are you adjusting to adding another physical opponent,
- 34:48Speaker 4: another SEC game to the schedule, knowing that it's going
- 34:51Speaker 4: to already be tough being in the SEC.
- 34:53Speaker 3: And you had just one more Yeah.
- 34:55Speaker 5: Speaking to this year too, you got it.
- 34:57Speaker 7: You had a ninth game and we play Michigan out
- 34:59Speaker 7: of conference in ann Arbor, so that makes it challenging.
- 35:02Speaker 5: We had two bye weeks last year.
- 35:04Speaker 7: Now you have one bye week, so you guys know
- 35:06Speaker 7: that stuff matters. Yeah, absolutely, But yeah, the schedule is
- 35:09Speaker 7: the schedule. I mean to me, it's a great opportunity
- 35:12Speaker 7: and I hope the selection committee when it comes down
- 35:14Speaker 7: to it. We just had a call with all the
- 35:16Speaker 7: SEC gms the other day and in Roman Obin, who
- 35:19Speaker 7: was kind of my main contact at the NFL office
- 35:21Speaker 7: when I was at the CNL, is now in the SEC,
- 35:24Speaker 7: and he said he's like, look, this year's draft, thirty
- 35:26Speaker 7: seven percent of the draft was SEC players, and twenty
- 35:29Speaker 7: five percent of the current active NFL rosters at the
- 35:32Speaker 7: end of last season we're SEC players. So that has
- 35:35Speaker 7: to be at least in my mind, should be factored
- 35:37Speaker 7: in when we're weighing, you know, a sixth SEC school
- 35:41Speaker 7: against another conference like this is this is where the
- 35:44Speaker 7: best players play, so we'll see.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Yeah, those things matter for sure.
- 35:47Speaker 6: So we from us, we talked about it, and we
- 35:50Speaker 6: know it's hard to schedule that tough opponent on that
- 35:52Speaker 6: out of conference. So we respect y'all for no debt
- 35:55Speaker 6: schedule because we get an argument about it all the time.
- 35:58Speaker 6: We know the strength of schedule as is not as
- 36:00Speaker 6: the big big deal as it was used to be.
- 36:02Speaker 2: But a lot of respect.
- 36:04Speaker 4: Nobody wants to play a directional school. You now, right,
- 36:07Speaker 4: If you got a chance to play Michigan, you do it.
- 36:09Speaker 4: You did it last year. You won the game, y'all.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Schedule last year was a damn gautlet.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Yeah, you'll find.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Out why the college football playoffs.
- 36:14Speaker 4: Like you still like you overcame a schedule because the
- 36:17Speaker 4: schedule in front of you probably motivated you all off season.
- 36:20Speaker 4: You worked out thinking about all those games you had,
- 36:22Speaker 4: and you go find a way.
- 36:23Speaker 7: Well, if the goal is a national championship, like you
- 36:26Speaker 7: got to beat who's in front of you. Yeah, you know,
- 36:28Speaker 7: you take it week to week and again, I'll take
- 36:32Speaker 7: this team in line up against anybody and you're you know,
- 36:34Speaker 7: some days you have your day and some days you don't.
- 36:36Speaker 2: But you got it.
- 36:37Speaker 5: You just got to beat who's on the schedule. You
- 36:38Speaker 5: can't worry about it.
- 36:39Speaker 4: My thing about it if you don't schedule those games
- 36:41Speaker 4: like you did. Now you're already playing in the SEC,
- 36:43Speaker 4: but you schedule a game against Michigan.
- 36:45Speaker 2: If you don't have some of those games.
- 36:46Speaker 4: And let's say the SEC schedule does fall your way
- 36:49Speaker 4: where you don't have the toughest way. When you play
- 36:52Speaker 4: somebody in December and January, you get punched in the mouth.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Sometimes you don't know how to react if you have
- 36:56Speaker 4: been through it.
- 36:57Speaker 7: That's right now. There's something about being battle test now.
- 36:59Speaker 7: So we'll see here we go. All right, you're the man, Jim.
- 37:01Speaker 7: We always appreciate it. Great to see you.

- 39:57Speaker 4: Also right now, experienced vessel fitters can earn eight thousand
- 40:00Speaker 4: dollars hiring bonus after just thirty days of employment. That
- 40:04Speaker 4: is Pallapalotgroup dot com pa LA Group dot Com just
- 40:09Speaker 4: had Jim Naggy I like it's it's one of those
- 40:12Speaker 4: deals like interview so many times executive director of the
- 40:14Speaker 4: Recei's senior ball Like he's not that anymore. He's the
- 40:17Speaker 4: GM now of Oklahoma.
- 40:19Speaker 6: You could just talk about like I've never so I've
- 40:20Speaker 6: never met Jim before.
- 40:22Speaker 4: Which yeah, it feels weird. Yeah, I've had him like
- 40:24Speaker 4: so many times, so many years.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Which is which is wild.
- 40:27Speaker 6: So I heard everybody talking like praising him so much
- 40:29Speaker 6: last year where you were getting to know the senior
- 40:31Speaker 6: bolle people, and just his name came up a lot
- 40:35Speaker 6: last year in a very positive light. And and he's
- 40:39Speaker 6: been doing it for so long. I just envisioned like older,
- 40:43Speaker 6: an older gentleman. I've been doing it so long. I
- 40:46Speaker 6: was like, that's Jim, Dude.
- 40:48Speaker 4: Jim was a scout too in the NFL for decades.
- 40:51Speaker 4: He decades what he started four basically like he got
- 40:55Speaker 4: into the league like incredibly early. Was a scout for
- 40:58Speaker 4: a long time.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Must go to rejuti me.
- 41:01Speaker 4: I think he does or he's a vampire one or
- 41:03Speaker 4: the other. But he does a fantastic job. Man, Oklahoma's
- 41:07Speaker 4: lucky to have that guy. Think about it. You've got
- 41:09Speaker 4: like multiple decades of experience being a scout also running
- 41:13Speaker 4: the senior bawl where you're scouting, yep, and then now
- 41:15Speaker 4: that's he's running your recruiting department right as far as
- 41:19Speaker 4: the portal.
- 41:19Speaker 3: I'm sure he does high school too.
- 41:21Speaker 2: But yep.
- 41:21Speaker 6: I got a feeling that for all of our listeners
- 41:25Speaker 6: in Louisiana and outside of Louisiana. Oklahoma to this point
- 41:31Speaker 6: has not been talked about enough for this year. I
- 41:34Speaker 6: think they are. They're going to be one of those teams.
- 41:38Speaker 6: Like like Jim just said, he said he'll put his
- 41:40Speaker 6: team against anybody. Now, you never know how it's going
- 41:42Speaker 6: to turn out. Some people have their days, some people
- 41:43Speaker 6: have a better game plan for whatever reason, so you
- 41:46Speaker 6: never know.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Exactly how it's going.
- 41:47Speaker 6: But they are going to be you know, there's not
- 41:51Speaker 6: going to be that many people that are going to
- 41:52Speaker 6: roll a that much better of a team out agre Oklahoma.
- 41:56Speaker 6: So they're gonna be able to win every single game
- 41:57Speaker 6: that they play. And I mean, look, they had a
- 41:59Speaker 6: quarterback that had surgery on his throwing hand thumb mid season,
- 42:02Speaker 6: and they made the playoffs against a really hard schedule.
- 42:05Speaker 3: It's one of the toughest schedules in the country.
- 42:07Speaker 6: And so they have revamped and certainly offensively, they were
- 42:10Speaker 6: very hampered last year. So you saw that was certainly
- 42:14Speaker 6: a point of emphasis by them. Jason Witten definitely knew
- 42:17Speaker 6: he was their tight end coach.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Today years old. Years old. I found that out. But
- 42:22Speaker 2: when he said they got three tight ends at are
- 42:24Speaker 2: pro level.
- 42:25Speaker 6: I was like that. It just stuck out to me.
- 42:27Speaker 6: I was like, Okay, this is a this is they
- 42:30Speaker 6: are looking at.
- 42:30Speaker 3: That's a good question by you.
- 42:32Speaker 6: They are looking at the NFL level to get their
- 42:34Speaker 6: game film. Instead of trying to match college programs, they're
- 42:38Speaker 6: trying to match what NFL teams are doing. And he said,
- 42:42Speaker 6: we didn't televise our spring game for a reason because
- 42:45Speaker 6: we don't really want to know what people how want
- 42:47Speaker 6: people to know how we've retooled.
- 42:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that was actually a good question by you.
- 42:50Speaker 2: A shocked.
- 42:51Speaker 3: I almost gave you one, but I forgot. That's my bad,
- 42:53Speaker 3: all right.
- 42:54Speaker 4: Aca bitch brought to you by Ice Cold Seki is
- 42:56Speaker 4: always a great time to go for dose.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Did you see the.
- 42:58Speaker 4: Netflix documentary This is the Zodiac Speaking. I have not
- 43:02Speaker 4: seen that yet, have you? This is the Zodiac is
- 43:05Speaker 4: the Zodiac speaking? That's what it says.
- 43:07Speaker 2: The killer I'm a hashtag, asked the bench.
- 43:10Speaker 4: Did you guys watch the third place game between England
- 43:13Speaker 4: and France. Yeah, that was incredible. Six to four ten
- 43:16Speaker 4: goals sign meant for that every time I've.
- 43:17Speaker 6: Read that, because obviously I was, I was on trying
- 43:19Speaker 6: to get to watch it, but like six to four awesome.
- 43:23Speaker 4: I loved it, asked the Bench. Have you ever seen
- 43:26Speaker 4: Office Space the movie? And is it the best comedy
- 43:29Speaker 4: about working in an.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Office comedy movie?
- 43:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it's awesome.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's yeah, super little budget.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm in this weekend.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a two conclusions.
- 43:43Speaker 4: Man, have you seen you mem read the stepler hashtag,
- 43:47Speaker 4: asked the Bench. Are we more worried about Sam Levitt
- 43:50Speaker 4: being healthy to play or being able to run the offense?
- 43:55Speaker 2: Uh? No, I don't know.
- 43:57Speaker 6: I'm really worried about it. I don't think I'm wried
- 43:59Speaker 6: about either one. And actually, as of right now, I
- 44:02Speaker 6: think he ran twenty one.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Miles per hour a couple of weeks ago.
- 44:05Speaker 3: No big deal. Could do that in my car right now.
- 44:08Speaker 3: Hashak as adventure.
- 44:09Speaker 4: You guys going to go to the beach or get
- 44:12Speaker 4: on the water while in Tampa, We're gonna go to
- 44:16Speaker 4: Busch Gardens, ride some roller coasters. I think Cole Kublick
- 44:20Speaker 4: actually is planning a card trip, a sports car trip
- 44:23Speaker 4: for the three of us, so looking.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Forward to that. He said, it's a little bit of
- 44:26Speaker 2: an uber ride. Yep. So we got to do that.
- 44:29Speaker 2: But yeah, we are going to.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Have a on the watch Card trip.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Yeah we're on the water. Yeah we're on the water.
- 44:36Speaker 2: We see the boats, but no we're not. We're not
- 44:38Speaker 2: going to.
- 44:38Speaker 4: I got enough beach and get Andy stables walked by.
- 44:41Speaker 4: We could add into the Gator list. We don't hate,
- 44:44Speaker 4: can't we Yeah we can.
- 44:45Speaker 2: I can't at him.
- 44:46Speaker 4: Yet, That's what I said, Like, you're giving permission we could.
- 44:50Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm not going.
- 44:51Speaker 4: To shout out to I got Andy. All right, we
- 44:55Speaker 4: appreciate you.
- 44:56Speaker 2: I believe I will. We are. We're still on a trip.
- 44:58Speaker 2: I will go have some do sekis. They're gonna be
- 45:02Speaker 2: probably can be a little bit easier to find here,
