- 1:39Speaker 3: We've got several things in the news we want to
- 1:41Speaker 3: get to. There are some there's breaking news. As you
- 1:43Speaker 3: just heard Jeff talking about it. There was a person
- 1:46Speaker 3: killed in what appears to be an accidental shooting at
- 1:49Speaker 3: the Sheets location over on the mccorkill Avenue and in
- 1:54Speaker 3: Knaus City, and we're still gathering information on that. It
- 1:57Speaker 3: appears that someone was a lady was on the parking
- 2:02Speaker 3: lot and that someone had got a gun and we're
- 2:05Speaker 3: pumping gas and somehow the gun on lodged and shot
- 2:09Speaker 3: came on lodge and shot the woman and she was killed.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Police say in their early early discussions about this that
- 2:16Speaker 3: the two people did not know each other, that it
- 2:19Speaker 3: was just just a random thing. Very very sad at Djeve.
- 2:22Speaker 3: We'll have more in that coming up as part of

- 2:38Speaker 3: Beam from one of our sponsors of the show here,
- 2:40Speaker 3: Jute Security Systems. Good morning, sir, Welcome to the show.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Hey, thanks for having me.
- 2:46Speaker 6: Thank you for being here.
- 2:47Speaker 3: I know that we were supposed to be in studio
- 2:50Speaker 3: this morning, but if it's anything like it was when
- 2:52Speaker 3: I was driving in Josh, people somehow when it rains,
- 2:57Speaker 3: forget how to drive between Tays Valley and here. This morning,
- 3:03Speaker 3: at around seven, I leave my house. A little bit
- 3:05Speaker 3: after seven, I saw three accidents, all of them one
- 3:10Speaker 3: car accidents, and it all looked like people were going
- 3:13Speaker 3: a little too fast.
- 3:15Speaker 7: Yep, it was.
- 3:17Speaker 5: I'm pulling into the studio now, so just just missing
- 3:20Speaker 5: a little bit here but I'll be happy to.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Call in here, all right sor right, well, we'll just
- 3:24Speaker 3: keep you out there so we don't have to break
- 3:26Speaker 3: things up that didn't come in a visit with us.
- 3:28Speaker 6: After that.
- 3:29Speaker 3: For those who may not know, and you've been on
- 3:31Speaker 3: the show in the past, tell us exactly what Jute
- 3:33Speaker 3: Security Systems is.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Jute is a whole home and business security and automation business.
- 3:40Speaker 5: So we do video security, automation, pretty much anything that
- 3:44Speaker 5: goes with that type of thing.
- 3:46Speaker 3: And what amazes me when I have you on the
- 3:49Speaker 3: show to talk about this is the technology and how
- 3:51Speaker 3: much it's changed over the years. I mean, you know it,
- 3:55Speaker 3: gone are the days we had these big, bulky cameras
- 3:57Speaker 3: that look like you're, you know, doing the six o'clock
- 4:00Speaker 3: news or something. Because everything is small. Everything is connected
- 4:06Speaker 3: to your phone or your smart device.
- 4:07Speaker 6: Talk about that.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Yeah, So it's ever changing, is very discreete. Now you
- 4:13Speaker 5: can get cameras that are very hidden. So we partner
- 4:17Speaker 5: with the nation's largest security provider, Alarm dot Com, and
- 4:21Speaker 5: they're always innovating new products. Really excited about some of
- 4:25Speaker 5: the new things that they've had come out in the
- 4:26Speaker 5: past a little bit here, So yeah, always change and
- 4:30Speaker 5: always moving forward.
- 4:31Speaker 3: And and we'll get you the contact information a little
- 4:34Speaker 3: bit later on. But if people are interested, what's the
- 4:37Speaker 3: consultation process? I'm thinking about getting this from my home,
- 4:41Speaker 3: give you guys a call or hook up with you
- 4:43Speaker 3: online or whatever, you come to the house. What goes
- 4:46Speaker 3: into that consultation?
- 4:48Speaker 5: Yeah, so it's a free and home consultation. And I
- 4:51Speaker 5: always tell people that I definitely listen to you, that
- 4:53Speaker 5: you are the boss on this, that I can give
- 4:56Speaker 5: you my professional opinion on what I think is best
- 4:59Speaker 5: in your home. But ultimately, you know the home best.
- 5:01Speaker 5: You know, that's where you live, or the business that's
- 5:04Speaker 5: where you live, that's where you work. So you tell
- 5:06Speaker 5: me what makes you feel comfortable and then we'll kind
- 5:08Speaker 5: of go from there.
- 5:09Speaker 3: And when you talk about doing residential end businesses too,
- 5:13Speaker 3: I mean, you know, we got folks listen to us
- 5:15Speaker 3: that have a business that employees you know, two or
- 5:17Speaker 3: three people, and businesses that employee hundreds.
- 5:20Speaker 6: Is there anything too big for you, guys?
- 5:22Speaker 5: No, no, no, that we can definitely do anything. And the
- 5:26Speaker 5: smallest you one as well. So there's there's definitely varying
- 5:28Speaker 5: packages that would suit your needs best. We don't try
- 5:31Speaker 5: to bulk you into something bigger than you need or
- 5:33Speaker 5: smaller than you need.
- 5:34Speaker 3: So talking with Josh Beem of Jute to security Systems,
- 5:37Speaker 3: to Dave Allance showing five eighty Live is brought to
- 5:39Speaker 3: you apart by Hustan's Pizza or this month you can
- 5:41Speaker 3: get a large et inch Pemperoni pizza and in order
- 5:43Speaker 3: of centam invites only twenty ninety nine eat and pick
- 5:46Speaker 3: up or get delivery by going to Huston's Pizza dot com.
- 5:48Speaker 3: All right, So, thinking about getting a security system for
- 5:51Speaker 3: maybe somebody that's a little tech technology challenge. That would
- 5:55Speaker 3: probably be me, but I'm talking about here, but maybe
- 5:58Speaker 3: you know a parent or grandparent or whatever. Talk about
- 6:01Speaker 3: how you can work with folks that aren't totally comfortable
- 6:05Speaker 3: with the technology aspect of it.
- 6:08Speaker 5: So, I mean, Dave, I know you personally. I can
- 6:10Speaker 5: tell that you would struggle with a little bit of technology,
- 6:13Speaker 5: but even you could run our system. I always joke
- 6:16Speaker 5: and say that my parents are the least techy people
- 6:18Speaker 5: I know, and I hook them up with the system
- 6:20Speaker 5: and they run it perfectly. Alarm dot Com is very,
- 6:23Speaker 5: very user friendly and one of the nice things about
- 6:26Speaker 5: working with a smaller business like to you is that
- 6:29Speaker 5: we are absolutely happy to come and install the system.
- 6:32Speaker 5: And then also anytime you need help with run it
- 6:35Speaker 5: or have any questions, you can text, call me directly,
- 6:38Speaker 5: or I can come out into your home and help
- 6:40Speaker 5: you figure out what you need to do with it.
- 6:41Speaker 3: And we talk about putting these apps on your phone
- 6:43Speaker 3: and things of that nature. How exactly does that work?
- 6:46Speaker 3: What can I see from my phone? If I have jute.
- 6:50Speaker 5: You can see everything that you have set up in
- 6:52Speaker 5: your home since the Alarm dot Com partner app, and
- 6:55Speaker 5: you would have if you have a security system, you
- 6:58Speaker 5: would have be able to tell you what's armed or
- 7:01Speaker 5: disarmed when when somebody's coming in the doors. Things like that.
- 7:05Speaker 5: You can have a video tab for if you have cameras,
- 7:08Speaker 5: different automation features as well, turning on lights, having schedules
- 7:11Speaker 5: for your lights or thermostat or different things like that
- 7:15Speaker 5: as well.
- 7:15Speaker 3: I think that's interesting that it's because we think about
- 7:18Speaker 3: security systems and that's the way we advertise for you guys.
- 7:21Speaker 3: But it's about more than just that. Like you said,
- 7:23Speaker 3: just the ability to turn lights on and things of
- 7:25Speaker 3: that nature.
- 7:26Speaker 5: Absolutely well, that all goes into security as well as
- 7:29Speaker 5: you know, so you're going to be out of town
- 7:31Speaker 5: for a couple of days or a week or whatever,
- 7:34Speaker 5: you want to be able to have the lights going
- 7:36Speaker 5: on and off in case somebody you know hopefully is
- 7:39Speaker 5: not But if somebody was watching your house and you know,
- 7:42Speaker 5: being able to see the lights are coming on and
- 7:45Speaker 5: make it look like somebody's still there.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I would, And I would think there's a big
- 7:48Speaker 3: safety issue in this as well. It's not just about
- 7:51Speaker 3: keeping the bad guys out. I mean, that's a big
- 7:52Speaker 3: part of it, but I would think it's also that
- 7:56Speaker 3: you know, there's a safety aspect here too, as far
- 7:59Speaker 3: as you're with health and well being in the house.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Absolutely yeah.
- 8:03Speaker 3: I mean, you know, if you got an older parent,
- 8:05Speaker 3: this may be they may not want you spying on them.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I'm not gonna lie to you, but but I mean,
- 8:10Speaker 3: you know, we've all got, you know, those in our
- 8:13Speaker 3: family that aren't as young as they used to be.
- 8:16Speaker 3: And again, I think it's a safety issue. I mean,
- 8:20Speaker 3: you definitely could do a lot with that.
- 8:22Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 8:23Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 8:23Speaker 5: You can share logins with your app, So say that
- 8:27Speaker 5: you did have somebody that was elderly in your family
- 8:29Speaker 5: and wanted to get some cameras put in the house
- 8:32Speaker 5: or outside of the house, or whatever whatever suited you.
- 8:35Speaker 5: You could absolutely have a log in to be able
- 8:37Speaker 5: to see what's going on in the whole thing.
- 8:39Speaker 3: And it is kind of good timing to have you
- 8:42Speaker 3: on the show now because now that the unofficial kickoff
- 8:45Speaker 3: the summer's happened with Memorial Day, people are starting to
- 8:48Speaker 3: plan vacations and things of that nature. So it may
- 8:50Speaker 3: be a good opportunity because there's nothing, there's no worse
- 8:55Speaker 3: feeling in the world and knowing that you're, you know,
- 8:57Speaker 3: eight hundred miles away and worrying about your home. Absolutely,
- 9:02Speaker 3: and so you could you know, obviously you can. You
- 9:04Speaker 3: can do a lot toward that, and you can monitor
- 9:07Speaker 3: your home while you're at the beach or wherever you
- 9:10Speaker 3: may be. I'm gonna go back to commercial properties just
- 9:13Speaker 3: for a moment.
- 9:13Speaker 6: Are you at liberty? Are you liberty to talk.
- 9:15Speaker 3: About some of the customers that you've had as far
- 9:19Speaker 3: as businesses go, Sure.
- 9:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think one that we would have
- 9:25Speaker 5: pretty good permission to be able to talk about, as
- 9:28Speaker 5: Sleepy Hollow Golf Course over an hurricane. We helped them
- 9:31Speaker 5: a couple months ago to be able to completely redo
- 9:34Speaker 5: their camera system that was outdated, take over this existing
- 9:38Speaker 5: security system that they had and modify it a little
- 9:41Speaker 5: bit to bring it up to what it needed to be.
- 9:42Speaker 5: But yeah, they've been a wonderful client and absolutely happy
- 9:46Speaker 5: to help, even even somebody as big as their size.
- 9:49Speaker 5: I think they brought on close to thirty cameras onto
- 9:52Speaker 5: their account so.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Well, I mean, and I think that's that's great that
- 9:56Speaker 3: you can do as you know, as few as one
- 9:58Speaker 3: or two cameras so you can do third.
- 10:00Speaker 6: I mean, I think I think it's pretty good.
- 10:02Speaker 3: And you've got a lot of a lot of residential
- 10:05Speaker 3: and commercial customers as well. Talking to Josh Beam of
- 10:09Speaker 3: Jute give us the website phone number, however, people can
- 10:14Speaker 3: contact you, so.
- 10:15Speaker 5: There's a couple of different ways. Website would be www
- 10:19Speaker 5: dot protected by jute dot com. That's Joot and our
- 10:24Speaker 5: number is six eight one two three three four thousand.
- 10:28Speaker 6: All right, Hey Josh, sorry you had a.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Slow go of it trying to get here this morning,
- 10:33Speaker 3: but I think you are coming into the station anyway
- 10:35Speaker 3: to talk to some folks, so well. Enjoy your time
- 10:38Speaker 3: in the parking What can you report from the parking

- 10:40Speaker 5: Now still raining. We're still getting some rain coming down here.

- 13:51Speaker 3: Yes, that's what I was telling the folks before the
- 13:54Speaker 3: break there, because I was just about to read my
- 13:57Speaker 3: My Little Live Thing for the Dirty Birds as if
- 13:59Speaker 3: they were playing as that they were off last night,
- 14:02Speaker 3: because last night to me and my mind is Sunday.
- 14:05Speaker 3: But they actually were off Monday. But they are back
- 14:08Speaker 3: at home tonight. But yeah, it's gonna be one of
- 14:09Speaker 3: those days if you had yesterday off that you're gonna
- 14:13Speaker 3: go around thinking it's Tuesday all day. Hey, let's talk
- 14:15Speaker 3: big beautiful bill. You're right about it this morning wv
- 14:19Speaker 3: Metronews dot com. It was passed by the US House
- 14:22Speaker 3: last week. Now it heads to the Senate where it
- 14:24Speaker 3: could based some changes. Senator Shelley Moore capital so she's
- 14:28Speaker 3: excited about it, and overall she's in support of the bill.
- 14:32Speaker 6: Overall.
- 14:33Speaker 3: I think her quote was, it's not the way and
- 14:35Speaker 3: necessarily I would have written it, but and I'm kind
- 14:38Speaker 3: of paraphrasing what she said there, but overall she seems
- 14:41Speaker 3: to be okay with it.
- 14:42Speaker 6: What say you?
- 14:45Speaker 7: Well, so she is one of one hundred and the
- 14:49Speaker 7: Republican margin is not as thin as it was in
- 14:53Speaker 7: the House of Representatives. But some of her colleagues are
- 14:56Speaker 7: already making noise about changes, among them Rand Paul the
- 15:01Speaker 7: Republican from Kentucky, Ron Johnson, Republican from Wisconsin, and they
- 15:07Speaker 7: would like to see the bill cut more to not
- 15:12Speaker 7: have as big an impact on the national debt. The
- 15:17Speaker 7: Congressional Budget Office estimates it's going to add almost four
- 15:20Speaker 7: trillion dollars to the federal government's debt that is already
- 15:25Speaker 7: at thirty six point two trillion dollars. So, you know,
- 15:30Speaker 7: I think it's going to depend when it comes to
- 15:32Speaker 7: Capitol how much influence these other guys have. The main
- 15:36Speaker 7: area is that there could be some changes, maybe tightening
- 15:41Speaker 7: down Medicaid requirements even more, and then snap benefits, the
- 15:47Speaker 7: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program. That's another area where some of
- 15:52Speaker 7: Senator Capito's Republican colleagues may want even tighter cuts.
- 15:59Speaker 6: How much did you say it was going to add
- 16:01Speaker 6: to the national debt?
- 16:04Speaker 7: This is according to the Congressional Budget Office.
- 16:07Speaker 6: Which is a nonpartisan office.
- 16:08Speaker 7: By the way, Yeah, three point eight trillion, and the
- 16:12Speaker 7: national debt is already at thirty six point two trillion.
- 16:15Speaker 3: I mean, I guess this is where and I'm not
- 16:16Speaker 3: asking you to editorialize here, I will editorialize this is
- 16:19Speaker 3: where I have an issue with this. I mean, Republicans
- 16:21Speaker 3: are supposed to all be about, you know, keeping the debt,
- 16:26Speaker 3: trying to get it a little bit lower, and this
- 16:29Speaker 3: does the exact opposite. This adds more and more to
- 16:32Speaker 3: the debt. I mean, regardless of the content of it.
- 16:34Speaker 3: You can argue that all day. I'm just talking about
- 16:36Speaker 3: the dollars and cents of it.
- 16:38Speaker 6: Here.
- 16:38Speaker 3: It adds a whole bunch of the national debt that's
- 16:41Speaker 3: not very Republican like.
- 16:44Speaker 7: It is significant on the debt, and the reasons are
- 16:50Speaker 7: the extension of the Trump tax cuts, plus some other
- 16:53Speaker 7: tax cuts like the ones on tips, and then there
- 17:00Speaker 7: are billions of dollars that go toward border security, which
- 17:04Speaker 7: you know, it doesn't sound bad on the whole, but
- 17:06Speaker 7: a lot of that money goes toward incarceration facilities. So
- 17:11Speaker 7: there is still significant, significant blend of spending and extensions
- 17:18Speaker 7: of tax cuts in this bill that are calculated to
- 17:21Speaker 7: add up to three point eight trillion. It's a thousand
- 17:25Speaker 7: page bill, which you know typically is unwieldy anyway, So
- 17:30Speaker 7: when we project, oh, there may be changes in the Senate,
- 17:33Speaker 7: there are a lot of opportunities for change in a
- 17:35Speaker 7: thousand page bill. But one of the things that I
- 17:38Speaker 7: think you're going to hear about as time goes by
- 17:40Speaker 7: is the potential effects of this bill as a US
- 17:44Speaker 7: debt bomb coming at the same time as you know,
- 17:48Speaker 7: the tariffs and the price pressures that were already starting
- 17:51Speaker 7: to feel talking.
- 17:52Speaker 3: To again with Brad mclahanny and Brad, there are obviously
- 17:55Speaker 3: some people very concerned and you mentioned earlier about possible
- 17:58Speaker 3: Medicaid cuts. You have your story quotes from Kelly Allen,
- 18:01Speaker 3: no relation of the West Virginia Center on Budget and
- 18:05Speaker 3: Policy think tank, and she was on talk line last
- 18:07Speaker 3: week and she pointed, as you said, to that nonpartisan
- 18:10Speaker 3: study by the Congressional Budget Office that says ten point
- 18:13Speaker 3: three million people would lose their Medicaid coverage in the
- 18:16Speaker 3: coming years and kind of paraphrasing or kind of not
- 18:20Speaker 3: to put words in Kelly Allen's mouth, but the math
- 18:22Speaker 3: doesn't math according to those folks.
- 18:25Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, and there's this public debate about whether
- 18:29Speaker 7: what's happening with Medicaid is cuts. Nevertheless, even though this
- 18:34Speaker 7: bill is projected to result in a significant amount trillions
- 18:39Speaker 7: of dollars of increased debt, some of the quote unquote
- 18:44Speaker 7: savings in the bill comes from Medicaid, and that means
- 18:49Speaker 7: that people would come off the Medicaid rolls under this bill.
- 18:53Speaker 7: A lot of it is under the category of work requirements.
- 18:56Speaker 7: They're not particularly significant worker quotvironments. The question that's out
- 19:02Speaker 7: there in public debate is whether it's really work requirements
- 19:07Speaker 7: or whether it's paperwork requirements, and you know which some
- 19:11Speaker 7: people lose potential benefits just by you know, making the
- 19:16Speaker 7: paperwork error, not noticing that they needed to complete something,
- 19:19Speaker 7: forgetting slip my mind, wind up without any medical coverage.
- 19:23Speaker 7: So that's the debate I think that you're going to
- 19:24Speaker 7: continue to hear also over the next couple of weeks.
- 19:28Speaker 3: But Dave Allen showing five video line brought to you

- 19:40Speaker 3: from more details switching gears here, I understand the Governor
- 19:43Speaker 3: is going to be speaking in Welsh today, Is that right?
- 19:47Speaker 7: Oh, that's my answer for what else you're watching? Yeah,
- 19:49Speaker 7: but he is speaking in Welsh today noon, as is
- 19:54Speaker 7: the governor's way of operating. There's been no information offered
- 20:00Speaker 7: beyond the location and the time and the particular individual
- 20:04Speaker 7: who is Governor Patrick Morrissey. But you would think, I mean,
- 20:08Speaker 7: Welch got hit hard by the flooding earlier this year
- 20:12Speaker 7: and continues to try to recover from it, and so
- 20:16Speaker 7: it certainly seems like a logical topic would be flood
- 20:20Speaker 7: recovery looking forward.
- 20:21Speaker 3: I mean, I would think that if he's going to,
- 20:23Speaker 3: you know, make the trip down to Welch, that it
- 20:26Speaker 3: I mean, that's just not someplace that they chose at
- 20:28Speaker 3: random for another announcement. I mean, who knows when you're
- 20:31Speaker 3: talking about politicians, But I mean I would think it
- 20:34Speaker 3: would be, like you, it would be somehow related to
- 20:36Speaker 3: the flooding that they went through, right.
- 20:39Speaker 7: I can't imagine that it wouldn't be.
- 20:41Speaker 15: And but.
- 20:44Speaker 7: You know, the criticism has been that the outside forces
- 20:49Speaker 7: have been slow to help the people of Welsh, that
- 20:52Speaker 7: they have largely had to get by on their own.
- 20:55Speaker 7: That they've been slow to receive federal relief flow to
- 20:59Speaker 7: receive state relief. And I don't know how the governor
- 21:03Speaker 7: addresses that. I mean, it seems like it should be
- 21:06Speaker 7: some sort of announcement or statement looking forward to greater
- 21:11Speaker 7: help help us on the way. But again, these these
- 21:15Speaker 7: announcements from the governor his staff are just absolutely bare bones.
- 21:19Speaker 7: It's the governor will be at this place at this time.
- 21:23Speaker 7: Tune in.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Well, I'm going to have you on the Metro News

- 25:07Speaker 3: my fifth anniversary here at WVRC Media, Charleston, when I
- 25:11Speaker 3: started doing this show May twenty. Just think about what
- 25:17Speaker 3: was going on then. We were battling COVID At the time,
- 25:20Speaker 3: everybody was wearing masks. Our building was effectively shut down
- 25:23Speaker 3: except for the news department and other other folks. We
- 25:29Speaker 3: were watching the campaign between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
- 25:34Speaker 3: It seems like forever ago, and I was asked by
- 25:37Speaker 3: Joe Parsons and Dale Cooper to take over for Danny Jones.
- 25:41Speaker 3: No easy task in and of itself. I mean I tried.
- 25:45Speaker 3: I tried not to do the Danny Jones show, but
- 25:47Speaker 3: to make it my own. And the bottom line is
- 25:51Speaker 3: I'm still having fun doing this five years later, actually
- 25:54Speaker 3: thirty seven years in the radio business overall. And I've
- 25:57Speaker 3: said this before, even on its worst day, doing radio
- 26:01Speaker 3: is better. Is better than most jobs. I get to
- 26:04Speaker 3: come in here daily and talk to you, sometimes serious stuff,
- 26:08Speaker 3: sometimes arguing politics, and sometimes just telling you what's going
- 26:11Speaker 3: on in the community. And I will say that my
- 26:16Speaker 3: role here has expanded since twenty twenty. Instead of just
- 26:20Speaker 3: being a part time job for me doing the show
- 26:22Speaker 3: and then leaving, it's not a full time gig for me.

- 26:44Speaker 3: really means something. And I've been lucky because, unlike a
- 26:48Speaker 3: lot of my federal broadcasters, I really haven't worked in

- 27:03Speaker 3: for a group in Ohio before I went back to

- 27:10Speaker 3: spent four years working with another group here in Charleston,

- 27:19Speaker 3: especially when some of my co workers tell me horror

- 27:23Speaker 6: That they work.

- 33:23Speaker 3: dozen workers were told via email on Friday that they
- 33:28Speaker 3: were being laid off. Now the company confirmed the layoffs
- 33:31Speaker 3: to Metro News on Monday. And it's interesting the way
- 33:37Speaker 3: the whole thing went down because first, well, let me
- 33:40Speaker 3: back up. The story really first broke during a meeting
- 33:45Speaker 3: of the Bridge Valley Board of Governors. Now the workers
- 33:48Speaker 3: train at Bridge Valley and many of the workers got

- 34:02Speaker 3: by the way, don't have a job. The president of

- 34:13Speaker 3: Now I I we interviewed mister Riley on Metro News
- 34:19Speaker 3: midday I don't I'm wanna say I'm doubting him because
- 34:24Speaker 3: I don't know, but it it seems like the company

- 34:33Speaker 3: come out. We're not sure at this point just how
- 34:38Speaker 3: many workers are going to be impacted. The top officials,
- 34:44Speaker 3: as I said, We're on Metro News midday last month
- 34:46Speaker 3: and they told us that the company had fewer than
- 34:49Speaker 3: fewer than one hundred workers. Now, when the first announcements
- 34:55Speaker 3: about the jobs were made, they and they meaning state officials,
- 35:02Speaker 3: had hoped to have had as many as nine hundred
- 35:04Speaker 3: workers there. And if you go to the website and
- 35:07Speaker 3: you look at Jeff Jenkins's story, there you'll see now
- 35:11Speaker 3: Senator at that time, Governor Jim Justice setting behind one
- 35:16Speaker 3: of the green power buses. Now, you know, I'm not
- 35:20Speaker 3: saying I'm not gonna I'm not a forecast send this
- 35:22Speaker 3: thing is completely dead in the water, but it's it
- 35:27Speaker 3: doesn't look good at least at this point, with all
- 35:29Speaker 3: of these people losing their jobs. And again, they were
- 35:33Speaker 3: expected to have as many as as nine hundred workers
- 35:36Speaker 3: there at peak, and they got nowhere near that, not
- 35:39Speaker 3: saying that they can't rebound and have that many at
- 35:43Speaker 3: some point, they just don't have that many right now.

- 35:52Speaker 3: Three zero four nine three five five zero zero eight,
- 35:55Speaker 3: also on the website this morning, kind of a really
- 35:58Speaker 3: sad story about they called her America because sweetheart Mary
- 36:00Speaker 3: Lou Rettin who was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Of
- 36:05Speaker 3: course she's had a bunch of health issues. You'll call me,
- 36:08Speaker 3: recall the GoFundMe thing for her, and really really a
- 36:14Speaker 3: sad story that happened like earlier this month, I think,
- 36:18Speaker 3: up in the Fairmont area, which is obviously where she's from.
- 36:21Speaker 6: So we got the story.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Oh, they're not going to spend a whole lot of
- 36:23Speaker 3: time talking about that this morning, but it is a
- 36:26Speaker 3: it is a sad story as it pretend, because I
- 36:28Speaker 3: remember the eighty four Olympics and I still remember the
- 36:33Speaker 3: cover of Sports Illustrated and she had that big beaming
- 36:36Speaker 3: smile and I think the head the wording on the
- 36:40Speaker 3: on the page was only you Mary Lou and I
- 36:44Speaker 3: mean then she went on to the wheediest commercials and
- 36:46Speaker 3: so on and so forth. Then she kind of dropped
- 36:48Speaker 3: out of site for a while. But sad story, and
- 36:51Speaker 3: hopefully she can get things together. J. C. Penny at
- 36:57Speaker 3: the Town Center is no more. It was the last
- 37:00Speaker 3: anchor store at the mall and had been there for
- 37:04Speaker 3: forty two years.
- 37:05Speaker 6: Now your call.
- 37:06Speaker 3: They announced back in January that they would be closing
- 37:10Speaker 3: this month. And and you know you've heard me say
- 37:14Speaker 3: this before for people that say, you know, shopping malls
- 37:16Speaker 3: are a thing of the past, everybody orders online. No, now,
- 37:20Speaker 3: that's I would urge you to take a trip to
- 37:23Speaker 3: Barbersville and go to the Huntington Mall if you think
- 37:25Speaker 3: that's true. There are other malls. I mean, look, we'll
- 37:27Speaker 3: look at South Ridge, look at the shops that Trace Fork.
- 37:30Speaker 6: It's just the Town Center is terrible.
- 37:38Speaker 3: And I don't know if it's the current owners. It's
- 37:40Speaker 3: not the city's fault. I don't know what the I
- 37:44Speaker 3: don't know what the answer is. I mean, even you
- 37:48Speaker 3: talk to people that own businesses in downtown Charleston, they'll
- 37:52Speaker 3: tell you their business is great right now, and it
- 37:54Speaker 3: picked up a whole lot with the bike event in Charleston.
- 37:58Speaker 3: So you can't blame it all just being am all downtown.
- 38:01Speaker 3: I think that, And I don't pretend to understand the
- 38:05Speaker 3: whole group, and I don't pretend to understand what their
- 38:07Speaker 3: business model is. It seems and doing some reading on them,
- 38:09Speaker 3: we've talked about it in the show in the past
- 38:10Speaker 3: that they kind of have a history of this of
- 38:12Speaker 3: buying these malls and then not doing a heck of
- 38:14Speaker 3: a lot with them, and so the stores just keep
- 38:16Speaker 3: going out and out and out, and again the five
- 38:19Speaker 3: dollars parking raising it to five dollars certainly didn't help
- 38:22Speaker 3: any but seeing JC Penny go away, because again, that
- 38:26Speaker 3: was one of the anchor stores if you remember forty
- 38:28Speaker 3: two years it was in business. Now JC Penny, for
- 38:31Speaker 3: their part, is closing a lot of stores around the country.
- 38:34Speaker 3: This was I think the only one here that is closing.
- 38:41Speaker 3: But anyway, it's sad. It's sad to see what the
- 38:45Speaker 3: town center has become. Cat Skelton has the story posted
- 38:48Speaker 3: about it at wv metronews dot com. Says, Dave, President
- 38:55Speaker 3: Trump has done so much to make this country stronger

- 45:13Speaker 6: Oh h, it was a mute.
- 45:17Speaker 3: He referred to the scum that he says spent the
- 45:23Speaker 3: last four years trying to destroy our country. He went
- 45:27Speaker 3: on to hammer the Biden administration's handling of the southern
- 45:31Speaker 3: border and slammed the judges who have ruled against his administration. So,
- 45:38Speaker 3: in case you didn't see the post, it said happy
- 45:45Speaker 3: Memorial Days. Okay, Editor's note, it is in very poor
- 45:48Speaker 3: poor taste to say happy Memorial Day. There's no such
- 45:50Speaker 3: thing as a happy Memorial Day. It's also in poor
- 45:53Speaker 3: taste to write in all caps and to have countless
- 45:57Speaker 3: you know, typos. But here we are continuing Happy Memorial
- 46:02Speaker 3: Day to all, including the scum that spent the last
- 46:05Speaker 3: four years trying to destroy our country through warped radical
- 46:09Speaker 3: left minds, who allowed twenty one million people to illegally
- 46:13Speaker 3: enter our country, many of them being criminals and the
- 46:17Speaker 3: mentally insane, through an open border that only an incompetent

- 46:28Speaker 3: release prisoners from all over the world in our country
- 46:32Speaker 3: so they can rob, murder and rape again, et cetera,
- 46:37Speaker 3: et cetera.
- 46:38Speaker 13: Like I.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Is it just me that kind of misses presidents being
- 46:46Speaker 3: Republican or Democrat, who just on Memorial Day observed Memorial
- 46:51Speaker 3: Day for what it is, the time to remember those
- 46:54Speaker 3: that are no longer with us because they died in
- 46:56Speaker 3: defense of this country.
- 46:58Speaker 6: I mean, is that is that just me?
- 47:00Speaker 2: Uh?
- 47:01Speaker 3: And I know there are a lot of maga folks
- 47:04Speaker 3: absolutely love everything that Donald Trump says or or does,
- 47:09Speaker 3: and that's that's fine, that you're right, But I just
- 47:12Speaker 3: of all the days, of all the days to post
- 47:16Speaker 3: something like that Memorial Day written and again typo's all caps.
- 47:23Speaker 3: There's no just thing as happy Memorial Day, you get,
- 47:27Speaker 3: you get my point on that.
- 47:28Speaker 6: I just think I just think that, Yeah, you know.
- 47:33Speaker 3: What I think, Texas Dave, last I checked, Virginia was
- 47:38Speaker 3: a woman's name. It's not West Virgil All right, there
- 47:43Speaker 3: you go, There you go, says been with you since
- 47:47Speaker 3: you were a Trump supporter. You've come full circle. Well,
- 47:51Speaker 3: you know, I I think I've told you my story
- 47:54Speaker 3: of Donald Trump before. I did vote for the guy
- 47:57Speaker 3: twice twenty sixteen and twenty two, and I thought he
- 48:01Speaker 3: was going to be I thought it was going to
- 48:04Speaker 3: be different. And uh I had I had Buyer's remorse.
- 48:10Speaker 3: That's and and I don't like the fact that the
- 48:12Speaker 3: Republican Party is now the Trump Party. It's the Maga Party.
- 48:16Speaker 3: And I feel that there's no there's no place in
- 48:20Speaker 3: the Republican Party for for people like me. Uh hey, Dave,
- 48:27Speaker 3: what part of Trump's statement do you disagree with? It's
- 48:31Speaker 3: not so much about disagreeing with the statement, it's the
- 48:34Speaker 3: timing on Memorial Day. That's my issue. Look, if you
- 48:39Speaker 3: want to release it today, release it today, that's fine,
- 48:42Speaker 3: but not on Memorial Day. Man, do better, do better.
- 48:45Speaker 3: That's not what Memorial Day is for. And I don't
- 48:48Speaker 3: really like presidents referring to people as scum, you know,
- 48:51Speaker 3: But that's that's that's the Internet, that's where we are now.
- 48:54Speaker 3: And uh then President Trump is the is the perfect
- 48:58Speaker 3: president for the times day we live in now. And
- 49:01Speaker 3: I will say that because that's what we want. We
- 49:03Speaker 3: want the Jerry springerization of America. That's what we want
- 49:07Speaker 3: now while while we're racking up record debts, which is
- 49:13Speaker 3: something that Republicans supposedly are against, but not him. Hey, Dave,
- 49:19Speaker 3: your show has turned into local biz infomercials and Trump mashing.
- 49:22Speaker 6: Do better, do Better? DJ Meadows is here?
- 49:26Speaker 14: Do better?
- 49:27Speaker 13: If I had a dollar for every time I was
- 49:29Speaker 13: told to do bettery, five bucks, you do, you would
- 49:33Speaker 13: do better?
- 49:33Speaker 6: I would do better. You agree with what I said?
- 49:36Speaker 6: I don't want to put it.
- 49:37Speaker 3: I don't want to make you uncomfortable here, But do
- 49:40Speaker 3: you you agree with what I said that there's really
- 49:43Speaker 3: not a place in the Republican Party for guys like
- 49:46Speaker 3: us anymore. No, because there's not, because I guess we're rying.
- 49:51Speaker 3: The Republican Party has become the party of populism. It's
- 49:54Speaker 3: become the party of short term thinking. It's become a
- 49:56Speaker 3: party of less market solutions when it used to be
- 49:59Speaker 3: about market solutions.
- 50:02Speaker 6: I mean, you're a numbers guy.
- 50:04Speaker 3: How does somebody that's a Republican, a conservative add that
- 50:07Speaker 3: much or support something adds that much money to the
- 50:10Speaker 3: national debt?
- 50:10Speaker 6: I don't think they do, right.
- 50:13Speaker 13: I mean, look, and I got bashed, not bashed, I
- 50:17Speaker 13: was challenged on social media over the weekend. I don't
- 50:21Speaker 13: care what it is you have to cut something. We're
- 50:26Speaker 13: steaming toward the cliff. We can't keep doing this. We
- 50:29Speaker 13: can't keep spending seven trillion dollars a year and only
- 50:33Speaker 13: taking five trillion dollars in the math don't math Sarcastically,
- 50:37Speaker 13: I said, okay, tell you what, whatever the median income
- 50:40Speaker 13: is now in this country, anything above that, tax at
- 50:43Speaker 13: one hundred percent, because that's the only way you keep
- 50:44Speaker 13: doing what you're doing, which obviously is not reasonable. So
- 50:48Speaker 13: if you want to continue on the course that we're on,
- 50:50Speaker 13: the only way to do it is have an unreasonable
- 50:52Speaker 13: rate of taxation that kills our economy.
- 50:54Speaker 6: What do you want to do?
- 50:55Speaker 3: Take your pick, Tex says, get mad all you want.
- 50:58Speaker 3: But Trump is not wrong in his post. Again, it
- 51:02Speaker 3: really wasn't the post. It was that it was on
- 51:04Speaker 3: Memorial Day, a solemn day. That's what really got me.
- 51:07Speaker 3: By the way, in regards to Happy Memorial Day, you
- 51:10Speaker 3: should tell KWS not to play Kenny Chesney anymore, because
- 51:13Speaker 3: on one of those promos yesterday he said the same consistencies.
- 51:16Speaker 3: All I asked, well, I can't do anything about KWS
- 51:19Speaker 3: although I do work there from time to time.
- 51:20Speaker 6: But I'll bring it up.
- 51:22Speaker 13: What happened to argument with civility? It's gone, it's gone.
- 51:26Speaker 13: Why do you have to call somebody scum?
- 51:28Speaker 6: Yeah, it's gone. Why do you have to do that?
- 51:30Speaker 3: But I disagree with a lot of people. I don't
- 51:33Speaker 3: call him scum, Tex says TJ. The Republicans have always
- 51:37Speaker 3: been about short term thinking.
- 51:40Speaker 6: No, no, I don't agree.
- 51:41Speaker 3: Not true, Tex, says Carol Miller. And Riley More voted
- 51:45Speaker 3: for it. That's who supports it.
- 51:50Speaker 6: As he takes another cup of coffee, what do you
- 51:53Speaker 6: got on the show?
- 51:53Speaker 13: I mean they did.
- 51:54Speaker 6: They voted for it.
- 51:55Speaker 13: Yeah, I mean, look, so they're banking on the come.
- 51:58Speaker 13: And that's the problem I have with this. I don't
- 52:01Speaker 13: disagree that if you create favorable economic circumstances that GDP
- 52:06Speaker 13: could grow. I don't disagree with that. However, I don't
- 52:08Speaker 13: think you can bank on it within your tax policy.
- 52:11Speaker 13: I think you have to realize it and then make
- 52:13Speaker 13: a change. That's what Republicans, many of them are doing.
- 52:15Speaker 13: They're saying, well, it's going to be great, We're gonna
- 52:17Speaker 13: bring in so much more revenue. Maybe we will wait
- 52:19Speaker 13: until that happens and then pivot and adjust.
- 52:22Speaker 3: All right, what you got on the show today? Sorry,
- 52:24Speaker 3: I got on my soapbox. You got two hours to
- 52:27Speaker 3: do that. Man, give me twenty seconds.
- 52:29Speaker 10: I know.
